In short
Hindash, a Dubai-based celebrity makeup artist, discusses his career transition from portrait artist to makeup tutorials, viral beauty trends, long-wear makeup techniques (layering setting spray, dewy vs sweaty), product expiration rules, and his own brand’s latest releases and upcoming palette.
Guests
Hindash (celebrity makeup artist; known for his Color Fluid pigments and gradient palettes; has worked with brands including Makeup Forever, Estée Lauder, and Makeup Forever’s brow campaign; client includes Queen Rania). Key claims
Makeup trends shift between “absence”/toning down of contour and blush; dewy looks should be achieved by intentional placement and minimal setting on high points; concealer can be applied on the back of the hand to avoid over-toning; talc-free powder formulations may require different pressing to match performance.
Notable examples
Huda Beauty x Salt “three custom flavors” tied to her liquid matte mousse lipstick; Benefit Benetint “dark cherry” used for lip gradients; Hindash’s Color Fluid shades (Boy Tears, Carve, Concrete, Sculpt) and third gradient palette launching in September.

Chronic migraine. 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more, can make me feel like a spectator in my own life. Botox, onabotulinum toxin A, prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine. It's not for those with 14 or fewer headache days a month.
0:43It's the number one prescribed branded chronic migraine preventive treatment. Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection causing serious symptoms. Allerge your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems, or muscle weakness can be signs of a life-threatening condition. Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue, and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welts, asthma symptoms, and dizziness.
1:10Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions, including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and medications, including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects. Why wait? Ask your doctor, visit BotoxChronicMigraine.com, or call 1-800-44-BOTOX to learn more. On today's podcast, we discuss everything that we're loving. I have a psychotic combination. You get the most perfect blush ever. The latest new beauty product. It's meant to be an eyeshadow, a bronzer, a blush, a powder that you can kind of use anywhere.
1:43Makeup techniques and tips.
1:44Tamara:Whenever I apply like a layer or whatever it is, I spray it and then I put another layer, then I spray it again. So I keep doing it. And we answer all your dilemmas. Do you look at a product and check the expiry date and say, okay, it's expired now. A lot of people don't have expiry dates. Oh, good to see. You can't get it now. They have expiry too.
2:11Hello and welcome to the Sheerlux Middle East Podcast. I'm your host, Tamara Jabi. And today, my lovely colleague and I, Hibba Baker, are joined by Hindash, celebrity makeup artist. You have no idea how excited both Hib and I are for you to be on the spot.
2:26Tamara:Honestly, thank you for coming. You are one of the OG makeup artists of Dubai. I've known Hindash for so many years. We go way back to my time at Dior. This was what? 2018? 2018. You started off as an actual artist. I've seen your work. That's how I discovered your Instagram page. Yeah. You had some of your artwork on Instagram. You had posts of your artwork. And then you got into makeup artistry. My subjects and when I would paint and when I would draw, it was just faces and portraits. So it really made sense. And I was always inspired by beauty advertisements and magazines. Like I wouldn't look at other artists, which is kind of very interesting in the way I worked.
3:07Tamara:How did you transition? Like, I'm really curious. Whatever I would paint, I would include and incorporate like beauty elements. So I would start drawing with an eyeliner and then doing a bit of, you know, adding a bit of eyeshadow into the mix. But in a way that wasn't like, this is all done with eyeshadow. It's like an element. One of my first big like gigs was with Makeup Forever. And we did, this was in 2016, I think. And they were launching brow products. So they're like, okay, we want you, like we recognize that you love art and you're an artist, but you also like are very much into beauty.
3:41so we want you to create different brow shapes and draw them and that would be like the campaign for the eyebrows like you can achieve all these looks and they were all over downtown in Dubai and they called it the brow show and I was like hosting the whole thing which was kind of crazy yeah so there were auditions and my friend Lana my really good friend Lana she was she was part of the mix as well from then on I worked with Estee Lauder and they did Estee Lauder the actual brand as well they launched lipstick so i ended up drawing influencers like close friends of mine as well and giving them like a custom lip with the lipstick how cool is that and then it's a transition from like drawing into reality into a tutorial it was really cool obviously i really loved beauty and the whole aspect of it i wanted to go all out so back to my youtube focus and that's when i really got into video and tutorials so once i got into tutorials like it was like game over like I really found what I really really love we always start every podcast with what we're wearing I think you look very chic please talk us through your look today well I'm wearing my very well-loved Bottega boots they're so I I was thinking about it this morning I'm like I need another pair I don't know if they still make them but I need a pair that I don't touch they're I love them and I'm wearing my Saint Laurent pants I love a pleated yeah uh costs white t-shirt and a Dior denim jackets.
5:06Kind of like all over the brand. Very nice. I really like your look. You always look so put together. Thank you. I love a Canadian tuxedo. I mean, I'm not wearing one now, but I love a monochrome moment. But I also love black, white, and then a different color, like a brown, a burgundy. Yeah, like what you wore at the Girl Love Masterclass. So chic. You looked really good. I love a suit too. I wish I could wear a suit. I would wear a suit almost every day here, like if I had put the weather. Yeah, I mean, you're wearing leather in July.
5:35Tamara:I know, but boots to me, I mean, it's just your foot. I mean, we had this conversation yesterday. It's like, I don't care about what the weather is. I want to wear what I want to wear. Yeah. I want to wear cowboy boots in the summer. Like, it can still work. What about you, Hiba? You look so lovely. Thank you. I mean, this just came in the... Is it yellow or like a greenish? I think it's like a... Mustard or no. This is where... Lime yellow? No. I feel like it's mustard in my own fruit. Your nails are butter yellow too, which I love. Yeah. It just came in the mail today. I got it from Topshop, obviously.
6:06Tamara:I added some blue in case there wasn't enough color. I love it. From ASOS. And yeah. Very chic. Very cool. What are you wearing? Topshop by ASOS as well. Hibba got me on Topshop by ASOS a lot. Is that a different? It's just Topshop on ASOS. They don't sell it anywhere else. Yeah, I don't see it anywhere else. And they did like a whole rebranding. I used to buy so much. Topman. Topman, yeah. They have it on ASOS. They're doing a complete rebranding now. They've been doing fashion shows. King Charles came to the show, which is crazy. I was influenced by him to shop there more. My bank account was like, a Goldie jeans, the hunch belt, and then Tony Bianco pump.
6:48I love you in a blazer too. See my power shoulders.
6:51Tamara:Blazers always, just yet in general, it puts you in a mood. You always feel powerful.
7:03on to our first topic things we love I mean we touched on Love Island a little bit touched a bit on Love Island I don't know if you guys are watching the US I'm watching both I'm not watching any where should I start okay I have never watched a single episode okay so my my really good friend and assistant she was on the same boat she's like I don't know where to start yeah and I'm like we should actually watch season 6 because I haven't watched it and that's the one with Leah
7:27Tamara:season 6 US US okay Aaliyah the person Persian. Yes. Yeah, I know all of them. So that was like a, apparently like a really iconic thing that happened. So we ended up watching that. It is the best one. So actually what, season six? Six. US version. And then we were watching the new one at the same time. So six and eight. Yeah. And then halfway through, halfway through, I made her watch seven because it's also really good. I started with seven. Like, listen, they're all not related. No, no, no. Each season is a new cast and they put people in and every week they bring in new people. Yeah. Etc. so it's not related but you suggest six and then eight I'm not crazy about the new season like it's okay but it's relevant to what's happening online which is why I kind of want to be in the conversation and that's how I watched season seven when it came out last year because you wanted to get involved it was very like I saw a few clips online then I started and it was really good and what I love now about reality TV is I love seeing the psychology behind it because like I like seeing how people psychoanalyze exactly I psychoanalyze like for me it's like my kryptonite honestly guys if I had the choice to be a reality star and get all this I wouldn't choose it any day I can't I just would not choose reality star fame yeah you know what I mean like that is for me that's the worst kind of fame I just would not because I'm tied to this like drama and this like intensity you are and it's just also like you're putting yourself like performative I'm like maybe I would do it in a if it made sense to who I am if you want to make an artist game show yeah yeah yeah got so deep guys I know I wanted to get into more election.
9:01So back to makeup. So back to things we love. Have you guys seen the Salt and Huda Beauty collab? I actually saw a teaser, but is it in Salt? Yes. So Salt have created three custom flavors that are linked to Huda Beauty's new liquid matte mousse lipstick.
9:22Tamara:Which I was going to talk about in the beauty. Yes. Because her whole marketing thing that everyone's. posting is that matte is back yes and do we think for for lipstick me and her are matte girls through and through yeah i love i love matte lips i love but i love a matte face more i love a matte face and that's what i love about your makeup is you love matte face and like i feel like maybe such an arab thing i don't know yeah i love a powder yeah i love a powder finish i love a powder foundation yeah i love i think it's also like being in a climate where we are i'm like i'm gonna get dewy regardless exactly just give me five minutes you know just give me five minutes outside i'll get there yeah it's coming i don't know i just i mean also growing up with you know having acne and then having acne scars and like texture i just feel like as soon as you put powder foundation on it's it's not like this thick heavy layer that people associate it with it has a bad rep huh it just completely like gives you this like filtered look yeah in terms of lips i mean i'm kind of i'm kind of all over the place with lips i don't have a specific preference i love like a soft matte lip i love a gloss i love a satin yeah so yeah it really depends as the thing as a makeup artist you probably work with so much range yeah yeah and also depends on the overall base right yeah what are you what look are you going for some looks suits a glossy lip some more of a matte.
10:48Tamara:Yeah. But hers, the lipstick, have you tried it? I did. I tried it. I like it a lot. I'm wearing it today. How are you? I really like it. I actually think it's so good. I think she's doing such a great job with colors lately as well. She is. I do like her colors. She has the best pinky nude lip liner. I vouch for them. The rosewood lip stain. So, so good. I like the original lip liners more than the stains. You made me buy it. The original ones, yeah. So good. It's very creamy. Do you like the stains more? Interesting. Oh, yeah. I'm a stain. I wear it. I love the stain, yeah. I mean, I'm wearing it all this time.
11:22Tamara:Yeah. But I now switch to the Summer Fridays one. I have. Oh, yeah. I switch to it, obviously, because of the felt pen with Huda Beauty. It dries out. I need to talk about a stain that I've been obsessed with. And it's something that I've been, like, trying to, like, I've been, like, adding it to cart and then removing it and adding it. And it's the Benetint, the Benefit Benetint. But they've extended. The OG? No, they've extended, I think, two or three more shades. Oh. And there's one where the swatches look so dark online, but the undertone is perfect. And I kept thinking about it, then I ordered it.
11:54Amazing. And it's dark cherry. Is it nuts? It's so good. Benetint is a cult product. What I like to do with the Benetint one is line your lips. Yeah. And then like press. So you get this like nice gradient. So you don't get that ugly like, you know, line on the inner part of your lip. It's a really beautiful, brownie, reddish, berry color. It's so good. It sounds epic for me. I love a berry, like, brownie, pinky. You should try it. Yeah, I need to, because I'm very much... And it's huge, and it's going to, like, last you ages. Benetton,
12:31Tamara:so it's the same formula as Benetton. Yeah, same formula, but it's a dark cherry. That lasts me forever. It's a dark cherry one. I'm going to try it. I mean, I'm now like a lip stain girl, because the lip liners, as much as I love a lip liner, it just always wears out. Yeah, And I'm someone who, like, throughout the day, like, even when I go to the beach, it lasts me throughout the beach day. Yeah. And it's like beach and divine. Nothing beats us through. Yeah. Yeah. In terms of long-lasting, I see it will last you forever. And that color, like, I feel like when you kind of overland and smudge, it actually looks like a believable fuller lid.
13:03Yes. Because you don't see the texture. And it's just, like, a blur. Yeah. Hey, Chicago. Class it up with Crocs. You know back to school is coming in fast. So why wait to find your new fave footwear? Step into a local croc store and step into your new look. Try it. Style it. Make it yours. Because the right pair doesn't just show up. It shows off. First day fits, handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest croc store today.
13:42on to our favorite topic of the day ride or die beauty any products that you're absolutely loving right now he's like where do i start where do i start i mean i can cheat and say that i've been i have my a lot of my final samples and like packaging of things that i've been working on so that's sorry to interrupt actually blown away this is really exciting i know i'm really really excited. So tell, for people listening, I mean, people know you for your incredible makeup line as well. Yeah. The Color Fluid. Incredible product. It's amazing. And now you've launched. Now we've relaunched the two bestseller shades, which is Boy Tears and Carve.
14:22And we've launched two new shades, which is Concrete and Sculpt. I love that. And they're these amazing, like, vegan, all you can do pigment. You can basically put them anywhere, like eyes, lips, face, implant. Yeah, because I was going to say, Color Fluid, Eyeshadows, but they're not eyeshadows they're they're pigments i mean technically if you want to really think about it it is an eyeshadow formula that i completely tweaked and reformulated to make it kind of go
14:44Tamara:all over the face which i love because for me when it comes to makeup like i love a pink because it looks like i'm burnt all the time but i use everything everywhere they give you that like unison exactly yeah it just changes your your whole like it just makes everything integrated instead of just being blotchy. Exactly. And what I love about these is because of the formula, you can mix them into literally an oil, a skincare product, your foundation, whatever you're using, and it doesn't break up or change a formula. It just kind of integrates. Amazing. And customizes whatever you're carrying with it.
15:22But the other product that I've been obsessed with that I'm working on is my third gradient palette, which is our most iconic product. Your gradient palette. It's never been done before. and it's like in an eyeshadow like pressed pigment form so the new colors are going to be insane wait an eyeshadow pressed pigment it's a press yeah it's a pressed pigment palette so basically it's a formula that's meant to be an eyeshadow a bronzer a blush a powder that you can kind of use anywhere but that's that's like your ingredient original yeah that is the original palette so it is it's a formula is very finely milled so you can kind of build and build i don't want to say they're like sheer eyeshadows but they borderline on the sheer side which makes them very forgiving.
16:05So that's been something that I've been obsessed with. When are you launching that? Well, I would say September. Amazing. That's very soon. You've said it on the pod now. It's coming out in September. No, no, it is. I mean, best time to launch it, right?
16:20Tamara:I'm really excited about that launch. Well, you're going to have to try every single one and let me know because you're going to love that. And I love that it kind of ties back to your like painting exactly exactly painting because for you you're looking at pigment in terms of like an artist with the paint and yeah and that started with my with the gradient palettes like i really wanted it to kind of embody how i paint so each pan is a gradient and when i paint i kind of i mainly paint in black and white so i have the black and the white and then things mush together to create like a gradient of grays so that was my main inspiration and i love that it kind of like integrates both it's phenomenal as soon as you go along and you blend you get the seamless perfect blend because you're getting that oh i know because you're every makeup artist favorite makeup artist like every every every tiktoker and instagrammer talks about your palettes and talks about your products because they love it palette honestly you should be it's a true makeup artist palette like it is phenomenal so hard to make it's kind of yeah Is it a long process?
17:25It's a long process. Because they're done by hand. Like the powders are kind of, they kind of mix together by hand. And then they kind of go through the press. So it's a pretty tedious process.
17:37Tamara:You should do a vlog. I'd be interested to watch it about like behind the scenes, how they make makeup. I really think process and like inspiration is very important. I try to do that on YouTube. Yeah. Before each launch or during each launch. I have to like sit there and talk. Yes, which is so good. And it makes sense. You know, you really want to kind of get to get a bit of a feel of the inspiration between each shade and each product. Yeah. And like I said, we are interested in these sort of things. I want to know why and how this happened. Yeah. So cool. And that's why on the topic of reality TV and like how things are changing from like a brand and marketing perspective is like people want products and brands to be more personal.
18:18Tamara:Yeah. And now that's what people are looking for. and left-light people are now becoming like front camera of like different brands and like taking you into like behind the scene because a lot of brands are like a bit disconnected from their audience and people want to feel more connected to like the product and like they buy into you you know like they're buying into him dash and who he is and i think it's super important that's the biggest advice people are giving brand founders is like be camera facing no let people get to know you because nobody is nobody's into just like the glossy imagery anymore it's like you need to get to know the person behind yeah but are there any other beauty products you absolutely love ride or die beauty i mean now the huda beauty soft matte mousses are one of my favorites now i need to i need to play around with that yeah i need to try it because when i've seen it on people i for me it's a bit too matte yeah too matte like it looks drying you should mix it with something Probably maybe like a very silicone-y base.
19:17Tamara:Yeah, maybe. I mean, I need to try it. It's comfortable. It's a very comfortable lip. It's not like, I feel like I'm not dry. Yeah. Yeah. I'm still obsessed with the One Size Setting Spray. How good is the One Size Setting Spray? It's so good. I really love it. It just doesn't make, your makeup does not move. It's honestly one of the things that I've repurchased the most. Yeah. It's crazy. Is that your favorite setting spray? I would say that and then the Charlotte Tilbury is my favorite for like more of a comfortable yeah like melt melt the powder type of thing but the one size is when I have like a you know a celebrity client that's like doing something you know like performing or like it's a long day they're different usages but like the one size is incredible yeah it's it's like hairspray for your face Amara taught me this technique that I do all the time so like whenever I apply like a layer or whatever it is I spray it and then I put another layer then I spray it again so I keep doing it exactly between oh my god thank god and Hindash is saying exactly I was so stressed I was like oh my god I do that too do you do that too oh thank god because that for me works for me but as a makeup artist I'm like is that good I like doing that but but again not not every single time no not every single so I'll do a few steps and then I spray it when I feel it's nice to do it like do base yeah then like do a nice layer and then do the your color so like Do your blush.
20:38Blush. I do another layer.
20:39Tamara:But I use, so I use the Kosas one, which I like because it's very light. The what? The Kosas setting spray. I think I've tried that. Yeah. It melts your makeup in, I think. Yeah, but then it also doesn't feel, it's not like you're spraying it, but it's just integrated with your makeup. I don't know how to explain it. It also has skincare benefits. Yes. Which is also really nice. Have you tried it? It's really good. No, I don't think I've tried it. But it's like that gradient one. Yeah, it's the gradient. I have it, but I don't think I've tried it. I love I'm very picky with concealer and I feel like we haven't had great concealer launches recently I'm still stuck on the NARS pot that's my personal favorite for myself the NARS pot yeah you know the soft matte but it is it can be tricky for people under their eyes certain if you're quite dry I think I think it's phenomenal but I've been loving the Tower 28 yes they have such good concealer I've yet to try I'm late to the game because my sister told me about it she was in the US so she's like you know I got the Tower 28 concealer and it's pretty amazing I'm like oh yeah cute by the way everyone everyone's saying that they sent it to me and it's been it's a really good concealer Tower 28 and they had I told them to send me the full range so now it's like in your kit the only one I use what are your like non-negotiable makeup kit products I'm sure you have so many so the the Givenchy Prism V the loose powder I have the loose and I have the pressed the pressed I keep for touch shots with the loose powder.
22:05I'm a loose powder girl too. Amazing. But it's reformulated. Oh yeah, they reformulated it. I remember people were annoyed about that. But a lot of things that stain my kit, a lot of MAC lip liners, but the Anastasia Beverly Hills lip liners are insane. They're so good. They're so good. I love lip liners. I use them for my eyeliner as well.
22:23Tamara:Because for me, they're a bit dark. They're quite dark. I use them as eyeliner as well. Like I mix between... The lip liner. Yeah. What is your favorite blush? I'm a blush person. I love blush. I love mine. my Rider Die blush is the Huda Beauty like the air filter one guys I have a combination I have a psychotic combination but there's Dolce & Gabbana they have get their blush in the lightest one I think it's number one it's like a mauve okay I love a mauve they also have like a nice paint we both love a mauve Burberry Burberry have a beige blush okay it's gonna look like a beige blush yeah it's gonna look like just very boring beige it's incredible wow so you mix those or like you mix the beige into any blush that you're using and that way you get the most perfect blush ever because you're blending all the edges.
23:09But also the new MAC blushes I've been really loving. The powder ones, they're so good. There's a color called Film Noir Buff. It's going to be scary to look at because it's a very like Noir, I'm swinging it black. Purpley burgundy. Oh, we love that. I like it in the darker. Yeah. So if you mix that with the Burberry blush, it's game more.
23:28Tamara:You know Elf? Yes. So I saw someone do a TikTok and they use the, it's like a cherry, a black cherry oil. Like they put it on there as a blush. Is it a tint? It's a tint, whatever it is. I don't know. And I saw them blend it, even though it's black cherry. And you would say, I would never use it. You know why? It's all about the undertone. It's so good. And I literally, I'm like, how do I get my hands on this? It's all about the undertone because everything is running too orangey and itchy these days. That's my issue. I'm like, I don't want to be coral. I want to be more like. So you have to go to the darker colors because you can always share them out.
24:02Tamara:I always use the plummy kind of thing because it gives you more of that. You have to get that MAC blush, the Fulanoir buff, and mix it in with the Burberry beige. Yeah, I need to try this one. Or any light beige you want or even a touch of a pink. Done. Sign us up. I have a question for you because I've been seeing. I mean, I keep watching different TikToks now about makeup and everyone's giving you new things. Yeah. So I heard that contour is out. Is it? Like they were saying that now, like instead of using like the whole contour thing, which for me, I'm like, OK, let me try it. So there were a few people who did the makeup without the contour and they were more focused on like blush.

24:40Tamara:So like blush should be out. You think blush should be out? What? I mean, a toning down. And I think that's going to happen. Yeah, I mean. Because there's been a lot of blush. No, no, I love a blush, of course. Like to me, it completes the look. But what type of blush? You know what I mean? Like what color of a blush? What tone of a blush? And people are getting a lot of these nostalgic throwbacks. So like, oh, like look at how she used to look in the 2010s. And it's the absence of blush. Yeah. That gives you this like very like model-esque or I don't know what it is. But it's just something takes a backseat and that's blush.
25:19Tamara:Yeah. But again, it's, I don't really like trends because it's always like tailored to a specific person. And I think Aera as well. I think people just fluctuate between trends. Tip in and tip out. But interesting about the contour. Yeah. I use bronzer. I don't really contour. I mean, that is a contour. It is. Bronzer is depending where, again. Once I was like, let me try to not. So what I do is I now use blush that's a bit darker that can pass as a both. Yeah, so it's like a two and one. So you need to get that max blush. Yeah, I do need to. You need to get that max blush. No, no, honestly, it's like a bronzer, contour, blush in one if you like really sheer it out.
26:01Tamara:Yeah. But that's what I like now with makeup is like it's an all-in-one, like whatever you want. I'm really all about, you know, a product can be used so many different ways if you like approach it, you know, approach it differently or like strategically. If we had your technique, we'd be solid. But I'm always like, you know, I'm always thinking of, and I've been asking people around me, which is a bit crazy, is do you feel like you look better before you put concealer on? Or do you feel like at some point something happens after you put concealer that takes something a bit, a step too far? By the way, yes, I've had this thought.
26:36You know, like something happens. I've had this thought where I feel like when I put like a product. Or like some sort, it's one product that you feel like, and you just do it anyway because you're conditioned and it's routine. And you're like, oh, I need to do like this, this, this. Yeah. What is that step that you feel like you look better without it? So I, I recently learned to put concealer on my back of my hand with a brush and lightly put it in. Because every time I put concealer directly on, it'll lose, my whole face is just like one tone. And I have to start to contour to bring back the shape.
27:09Yeah. I want the shape to still be there and the shadows, but not so like blinded and off, you know. So yes, I actually. Another routine is very interesting is some people like, and I find myself doing this on myself sometimes. If I have like a thing or like I'll go in on like, I want like a, you know, an even skin tone. So I'll like powder it, whatever. And then I'm like, now I want to bring life. So I'll add a bit of a blush. But if you think about it, I kind of had that before.
27:36Tamara:You already had it before. Or maybe I just needed like a translucent powder. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes you just need to. So for me, because also there was this phase or there is kind of still phase of like no mascara, which I cannot do. That's not for me. I don't know if it took off. Honestly, I do get that vibe when I'm shooting on a model. And sometimes I feel like when I add mascara, it takes it a step too far. Yes. But also, I don't think there should be no mascara for my looks specifically on a client. You know what I mean? But it has to be like a, maybe I have to go in with a specific mascara formula.
28:13Tamara:Yeah, a lighter one. So something that helps me now is I use brown mascara instead of black mascara. Yeah, that's pretty good on you. Because it's lighter. When I put black mascara now, I'm like, it's too much. It's also the formula. Too harsh, yeah. You can get these very fine silicone brushes. The hourglass is a really good one. Hourglass is my favorite. Phenomenal mascara. I really, I put a note today to buy a... No, no, an hourglass is one of my go-to spots. And the brown ones. Their palettes and the brown ones is amazing. It's one of my favorite brands. Their new lip product. I just did a video for them.
28:46Did you? It's phenomenal. I love your videos. They're so good.
28:49Tamara:And I love like their Unreal Liquids highlighter. I haven't tried that yet. Oh, good. Oh, my God. You would love it. I have them. But try the rose gold one. Because like when you mix it into the blush. I want to start to mix it in. Yeah, when you mix it into your blush, like in the thing, it's actually it's not like, I don't know how to explain it. But it's it's so blendable with the blush. What is your favorite? I'm curious because like I love a pressed powder, like a setting powder. Setting or do you want something with coverage or like just setting? I mean, I like for me, I'm someone who like I need this to be like white, bright.
29:27Well, lately, my new one that I've been using that I've been loving is the new Guerlain one.
29:31Tamara:Oh, yeah. So that's a new find. But in terms of like OGs that are in my kit, I always have the Charlotte Air Force. Yeah, the Charlotte one. Everyone's talking about the Charlotte one. The Givenchy one that again isn't... But pressed or loose. The pressed one. Yeah. In terms of powder foundation that can also do that effect, I love the L 'Oreal one. It's so good. I've never tried it. It's so good. And unfortunately, it's because it has talc, which is now being banned. Yeah. And I just think it's just... You're like, bring back the talc wait does it does finish on the skin that yeah other powders just sorry but even the closest one i can't use it because it doesn't have talc for some reason it just doesn't stick on your yeah doesn't and you know that when you keep applying like more and more it's worse it creates a shiny film for me that's like a bit of a don't want that you don't want shine like a crease sometimes like when i use the it's because it's because it adds like a like a skin perfecting layer like a mica which is like a bit shiny but i think i think we're getting close to a talc finish because i feel like products are changing a bit formulation is working towards without i think the one size i was surprised to to know that it didn't that it didn't have talc no i don't think it does have talc to me it felt like a very our colleague in the uk sapna loves that powder the one size powder it's a good one yeah i've never tried it i've always had this powder is have talc yeah i love it yeah guys i hate to break it to you but from 2027 like it can't happen anymore so we have to stock up i don't know it's what from 2027 like the law on everyone has to form oh really okay so we got it and i know and i know this and i know this because unfortunately my palates also have talc Oh, yeah.
31:20I'm going to have to go through. Oh, my God. You have to reformulate? Probably at least, I hope not, but maybe a year of like maybe reformulation because I know it's such a hard product to like nail. Oh, my God. So it's not just about the formula. It's about how the powders are being pressed. Oh, my God. And the level of like I've had to go through different rounds of pressing, like the different pressures. Oh, my God.
31:40Tamara:Like 45%. Because also does it bind? And test it all out. And each shade, each one of my shades is pressed differently. Oh, wow. Because if it has more white, it's softer. So I had to press it differently. It's crazy. We need a video. So I don't know what I'm going to do. I have to start from now, like testing talc-free formulas. And honestly, for shadows and for blushes, they're amazing. The talc-free formulas that I've found are pretty amazing. I just hope they perform the same when they're being pressed and when they're in a gradient. Yeah. A little journey. Do you have any favorite fragrances that you're loving right now?
32:19I layer a lot of things. You smell good always. So very curious to know what you like. Well, right now I'm layering. One of my favorite perfumes ever is Eccentric Molecules, Molecule 01. Oh, I heard this is a very good brand. It just works with your skin. I love it. It's very like you don't really smell it, but other people smell it. I love that. Kind of like a musky skin-like scent. Nice. The powdery, a bit woody. So that's always my base and I end with it as well. and I'm currently wearing the Guerlain Nerolia Vetiver 40, which is very like big coconut.
32:51Tamara:Fresh. Yeah, which I love. Yeah. I'm very much into the florals. I love like jasmine. Yeah. I like that though. Yeah. But then now I'm trying to like do more like spicier things, wooden. Oribella's new perfume is like very jasmine. You should smell it. Oribella has really nice fragrances. But the new one is blue. It's called blue jasmine. Yeah, I love the jasmine. I tried her stuff. but Selfridges anyone who loves like the jasmine as well Mark Jacobs remember Daisy Daisy of course the OG Mark Jacobs had the best men's fragrance and they discontinued it way like in 2010 2011 do you think he'll bring it back like he brought back his makeup I don't think so I don't know it's very like fig coconut oh I love a fig scent we love a fig scent Fleur has a fig scent I'm all about fig have you tried Father Figure by Fleur yeah but it's not it doesn't hit doesn't hit Hey Chicago, class it up with Crocs.
33:47You know back to school is coming in fast. So why wait to find your new fave footwear? Step into a local Crocs store and step into your new look. Try it, style it, make it yours. 34:17okay guys on to celebrity news anything you've been seeing recently watching recently on celebrity news the madonna kiko milano collab well she's not about this yeah so i think she rolled it out like within because she's doing like a huge press thing for her new album yes so that kind of got in, like pushed in with the press. Which is great. Which is really nice because it's very organically done. But yeah, she was announced as the face. The global ambassador. Kiko Milano, yeah. Because I think it also tied in with the launch like the official launch of Kiko Milano in the US. Okay, it makes sense.
34:55Now you see like everyone's like really talking about it. Wait, so Kiko Milano never launched in the US prior to this? No, I don't think so. Because Kiko's really talking about it. I have been following a little bit of Taylor Swift's wedding news. Wedding, yeah. No, it doesn't really interest me.
35:08Tamara:Zero. I have zero interest. Yeah, I'm not. I was so like, not that I had expectations, but like all the people that attended the wedding. The wedding guests. What are you wearing? Like we were talking about it. Like you have unlimited brands that would die to work with you. Especially for a Taylor Swift wedding. But was everything official? Like the photos that were released? No, no. Hers? Hers, no. No, nothing was out. We don't know what it was released. I don't think I saw anything. It's all AI. It's all, nothing's released. Like they're doing big moments like Dua Lipa. No one knew what her wedding dress was like for a while.
35:40We were talking about this Tamara's wedding. Oh my God. You know, Tamara, the influencer, she had a beautiful dress.
35:47Tamara:Honestly, I cried with her vows. Did you cry? Oh my God. Her vows were so beautiful because like one, she is honestly one of the most humble and beautiful like influencers that you actually meet in person. Like she's just like very, she's a very naturally like humble and nice person. and like you saw translated throughout the wedding. She was very much herself. And I love that she wore dresses that were so unique. Like she wore an Alaya custom wedding dress. She was wearing Alaya as a wedding guest. Yeah. You know, but it was so her and it was so beautiful. Even if it was like very, like not over the top, but it was just so beautiful.
36:26Tamara:She looks ethereal. She looked amazing. Both my friends in her glam, Sebastian did her hair. Yes, Sebastian did her hair. And Andrea. Andrea, at least she did her makeup. did her hair for the pre-party which was incredible. Her hair looked insane. Honestly, I was like I didn't know he would. I didn't know he was this talented until I saw how he did her hair. I feel like there's a lot of weddings at this moment in time except for my own.
36:55On to dilemmas. We got some beauty questions for you. so one of the questions is what is the rule of thumb for expired makeup products how much longer do we have after they've been expired i mean this is coming from someone whose mom holds on to every single product i mean i have to like pry them off her hands and like throw them in the trash not because no you know what because they're expired there's no there's no excuse and she
37:25Tamara:has a lot of makeup and I give her a lot of like I'm sure yeah I can imagine your mom's room is like stacked with makeup and she's still and to me exactly and to me you know what the makeup part I might give it a bit of a pass but skincare I can yeah fair skincare don't don't don't mess with skincare has to go in the trash 100 % but with makeup I mean liquids are quite easy to spot because of how they smell I mean you have to look for the smell you have to look at like is the product doing this like disgusting yeah like separation separation with the oil exactly so that's one detection powders honestly I keep for a very long time I won't necessarily use them on people but I have like a full archive do you look at a product and check the expiry date and say okay it's expired a lot of them don't have expiry dates I was gonna say do they have expiry dates they do on the bottom it says like S6M no so that's that's basically it's a general it's a suggestion of take it lightly no honestly it is because as soon as you open like a product, the 6M would tell you like, okay, this is a six month shelf life.
38:28Right. But honestly, I feel like, you know, how you're storing the product, the temperature, like all of these factors matter. And if it smells fine. Yeah. You kind of run with it. Yeah. I feel like six months for a foundation is ridiculous. I mean, nobody's throwing a foundation after six months. No, I literally don't throw a lot of my... Like I'll give it a year plus. If you're using it consistently, you're going to go through it within a year. I don't know. Smell, honestly.
38:54Tamara:Smell is a big giveaway. And also because obviously you produce in your own factory, do they have rules for you in terms of when you package things? Yeah, so obviously the rule is as soon as you open it, things start to like the time rest. Oxidizers, yeah. Again, conditions, like how are they being stored? Then, you know, when you get to like pencils, that's a different formula that can last quite a long time. My pencils, I don't even consider. I have pencils for years. If they last. Charlotte Tilbury, like, pillow talk. Like, I have 15 different colors. Like, they're still there. I'll still use it.
39:32The good thing, I mean, the saving grace is I get a lot of things sent. Yeah. So I do have, like, a lot of things in rotation. Yeah, for sure. And the old stuff just gets pushed back to my archives. So the next question we promised our lovely colleague Talar we would ask because she's really sad that she's not on this pod. with us. But she wants to know, how do you make your makeup look dewy and not sweaty? Because there's a fine line between dewy and sweaty. And we talked about this, we touched on this earlier about how we love a matte face. And if we just go outside, we'll look a bit dewy. But do you have a technique of looking dewy and not sweaty?
40:10Definitely. I think it's about layers. And I feel like we're, again, we're so conditioned to that one, two, three. Like, you know, we conceal, we do foundation, we do concealer, we set. Yeah. So instead of like just doing that automatic thing, I think we should look at how things look before setting. So like give the formula some time to work on your face. And how does that look before you do powder? So I always say like, don't touch the high points of your face. So leave your cheeks dewy, leave them as is, and then go in and fine-tune the things that you want airbrushed. So like the T-zone, like a bit here, a bit obviously the under eyes, a touch around the nose for sure.
40:56But don't just go in with the powder as you always... Yeah, don't go in with the powder. And like do that thing we talked about where you're like sandwiching the setting spray. That's always really nice. Oh my God, I'm so happy, Maya. Yeah, yeah. Thanks, Sam.
41:06Tamara:I mean, all your experience with the beauty. Beauty has paid off. But I genuinely thought, I was like, yeah, it works for me. But I think definitely less is more. I mean, there are so many dewy formulas right now on the market. Like, everything will give you automatically that dewy look without you even, like, doing much. Not to sweat, wear a, like, visual placement. So be careful of, be, I think, intentional with the set. I think even what I love to do is, like, get a mixing palette, which you're going to have in your kit. You're going to have mine. And you do, like, do your foundation. Like, do a drop or whatever, how many pumps you use for your foundation.
41:40Do your liquid blush. If you do that, your concealer. and then treat your face like you're mapping things out and be intentional with your placement. So if you're doing foundation, do a light, even layer just to kind of even out your skin. Because I always say with foundation, people underestimate how little you can get away with. And when you do that, you let the formula shine. Yeah, fair. Because the more you apply, it's just going to be like this mask. You need to be intentional. Yeah, so if the foundation is dewy, like give it a chance to be dewy or like give it a chance to be long-wearing or whatever.
42:16But adding that right amount and then yeah, matte things out. I think that'll give you like a seamless finish. And do you like using foundation with your hands or a blender or a brush? But I always say like certain foundations will apply beautifully with your fingers. As a makeup artist, I just prefer you to use a brush.
42:35Tamara:I just, I love my hands. Like my concealer, I do with my hands. my foundation recently i do i will do concealer with with my my fingers a lot of times yeah because i feel personally i feel like the brushes when i use it it just leaves out a lot of the product personally yeah i mean i i could be doing it wrong but like i just feel like it works for me but naras for example they don't release brushes because you're supposed to use your fingers yeah like even eyeshadow i love eyeshadow like with your fingers but even matte shadows yeah how yeah I don't know I need to see that I just always yeah I do I just put like I don't know I feel like your fingers have also like a texture for sure like I always love shimmers with yeah yeah I just do everything my highlighter everything like I'll use a brush just because I have to yeah I guess I have to the only thing that I have my mom does her full face with her hands with her hands her makeup looks incredible hey Chicago class it up with Crocs you know back to school is coming in fast So why wait to find your new fave footwear?
43:39Step into a local Croc store and step into your new look. Try it. Style it. Make it yours. Because the right pair doesn't just show up. It shows off. First day fits handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest Croc store today. We need to deviate a bit and talk about your celebrity clients. tell us more about who who is blessed to have I mean the only person I I'd like completely be still in shock over is Her Majesty Queen Rania and she's literally my queen iconic she looks incredible every single time she's an incredible woman I mean she's the most incredible woman and she does so many amazing things and every time you know she every time she gives a speech every time she talks about global topics and events.
44:36I'm just in awe of, you know, her composure
44:39Tamara:and her knowledge. So real. So honestly, she's like the epitome for me. Like when you look at someone who's like so beautiful and feminine and powerful in like such a majestic way. Yeah. Like there are only certain women that like truly encompass like that essence and she's honestly one of them. Yeah. And the fact that she's actually my queen is just... Yeah. She's literally my queen. She's literally my queen. You are some Jordan. and she is so cute. And you do her makeup. It's like the client to have. I mean, you're going to have a client. Queen Rania is an amazing one to have and she's so well respected globally.
45:14So we got a question on makeup order and your preferred makeup order because obviously there's so many ways that people have advised to put makeup on. Is it concealer first? Is it eyeshadow first? Is it, you know, base? Whatever it is. What is your preferred way to put makeup? I love that because I really think, again, there are no rules, but there are rules when it comes to me i'm gonna there are certain things there's the coming out but honestly i will i will kind of deviate depending on again if i'm doing if i'm working on video for example yeah sometimes i have to deviate and do steps in different orders but i don't like it but if i'm working on someone it's eyes first there's no way i'm not doing that Eyes first.
45:57Tamara:Eyes like you mean just like. So what I'll do is I'll do skincare and I'll like take my time with skin. I'll massage the skin. I'll like prep the skin. Hand lips. Yeah, like very thoroughly. Like give it like a spa moment. Let it sit. The client's very relaxed. Then I add my the eye patches. Yeah. Eye masks. So while that's kind of in the skincare mix, because the under eyes are covered, I'll start working on eyes. Okay. So that way I can kind of map out the eyes and, you know, eyes are like a big thing of mine. So then whatever is falling out, if any, you have the eye patches. So that's number one.
46:32And then you have skincare benefits, like everything is kicking in. And then you take out the eye patches and I start working on skin. And that way there is no going back and cleaning up. You know, you're not kind of worried about a bit of a smudging or like a bit of any type of fallout. But I will say, to contradict myself, if you are doing makeup on yourself, it is quite helpful to do things a bit out of order because it can give you room to not obsess and fuss over tiny details. So if you feel like you obsess over skin, try to do it in a different order where you kind of do your eyes first.
47:13So that way you kind of feel more done. Yeah, yeah. So you look at yourself in the mirror, you're like, okay, like my eyes are done. my eyes are like awake so they're doing what I need them to do. Maybe even do a bit of a lip like a lip tint or whatever to make you feel like you have some type of makeup on. Then when you look at yourself in the mirror you go like oh, I'm going to need just a few touches here and there because I look kind of complete. This is so relatable because I feel that. I look in the mirror and I'm like I look like I don't have enough and I just put a little bit of something just so I can feel like oh, okay.
47:45I don't need so much because it's always the lip
47:47Tamara:like a lip. Exactly. So start with like a light lip tint or something, you know, just to give. Yeah, just to give yourself a background. I have different makeup. Like I have like the everyday thing where I literally I have like four products that I use in Nutsith, which is concealer, blush, mascara and a lip tint. Yeah. That for me is like my holy grail. I was going to say, don't you feel like sometimes when you're getting ready really quickly, you don't have a lot of time, you look better? So much. Oh, my God. Sometimes. You know, my everyday errand. It's true. My everyday errand look, I'm like, I need to just do that because I like how I look.
48:21Tamara:It's so simple. I'm so clean. Whatever it is, I look fresh. Because the more time you give yourself, the more you obsess over something. And I'm like, wait, I messed it up. Why did I put so much powder? Why is there so much blush? Oh my god. You're doing the full span. And then you put more to rectify it and then just counterbalances. It's a downward slope. Oh my god. I completely agree. There are no rules. There are no rules, yeah. We've had so much fun today. I feel like it was a pure beauty podcast it was really and you have to come back I will you have to come back with Tal as well because Tal as well we have to do like a part two yeah yeah Tal was like can he do our makeup before we go on or we can just go do like a tour of his we should do like a more yeah personalized something would love to do I mean literally you are the king of makeup and we're so happy that you came on the pod so thank you for joining us thank you for having me honestly yeah thank you for all your insights I know I really said I talked to him after just keep going Keep gigging.
