In short

SheerLuxe Podcast episode mixing fashion trends (ugly shoes/Chanel barefoot sandals), celebrity gossip (Jacob Elordi & Kendall Jenner “hard launch,” Anna Lynn McCord & Danny Cipriani crowdfunding wedding), shopping/reading and travel talk, plus wedding and relationship dilemmas (baby-name ownership; hiding Botox/lip filler).

Guests

Sapna (host) with Lucia and Lu (co-hosts). Backgrounds mentioned through their lifestyle: fashion-focused London style, reading and staycation/travel planning, and wedding planning discussions.

Key claims

Ugly shoe trend may be “brainwashing” via influencers; Chanel barefoot shoes are controversial/non-functional but framed as luxury flex. Jacob & Kendall’s “hand in back pocket” signals a curated, possibly staged relationship vibe. Crowdfunding a wedding is “too far” and a recession indicator; wedding culture has gone viral/over-the-top. For dilemmas: baby names should be claimed with honesty (especially with sisters); don’t hide cosmetic procedures from a partner.

Notable examples

Chanel barefoot shoes worn by Margaret Qualley; TikTok chocolate milk trend (melted chocolate + coconut water); staycation at Hampshire’s Candover pub with rooms; Paris restaurant picks (Billy, Tarantula, Cortado, Lulu).

40Welcome back to the Sheerlux podcast. I'm Sapna and I'm joined by Lucia and Lu today. Hi, gal. Hi. I always feel like clapping. Oh, do it. Please clap us in. I love it. it's really early this morning we usually don't record podcast this early so i hope we're yeah i feel like a little bit like i need i don't even drink coffee but i need a coffee to just like that is amazing that you don't drink coffee how do you like get energy because i don't understand how do you get it no because like when people don't drink coffee like how are you yeah i mean i drink tea but i wouldn't say i drink tea for energy i definitely drink tea for comfort yeah and I used to have like a coffee probably like once every six weeks but six weeks and with so much sugar and milk that I just I think I just like the idea of being like do you want to get a coffee and ordering one would you get would you get like a decaf uh I've actually never tried a decaf no I used to get a skinny cappuccino one shot skinny cappuccino oh that's yeah chic so shake do you think yeah i just love the taste of coffee me too like i love it even without sugar yeah i don't know i do like i've learned to but initially i started getting into because i was never really a coffee drinker yeah and then i got into it because i started having you know those chocolate milk s oh yeah coffees which are like like a very sweet thing yeah yes i've actually never had chocolate milk i don't think that is crazy i know i said this to polly the other day She was basically saying that one of her pregnancy cravings was chocolate milk.

11And I was like, never had it. Nothing slaps more than chocolate milk. There's this trend on TikTok at the moment. Have you seen it? It's like you basically melt chocolate and then you pour it into coconut water. And it's basically like the new chocolate milk. No, there's this thing in Australia. It's like this can. What is it? Carton. I think it's Coco Bella chocolate milk. And it's coconut milk slash chocolate milk. And it's not actually that bad for you. Like, I think it's quite healthy. That's what everyone's commenting. This is already a thing in Australia. Oh my God, it is so good. Wait, it's coconut water or coconut milk?

43It's coconut water though, not milk. But it tastes like milk. Okay. It's not, it's quite creamy. I don't like chocolate ice cream and I feel like they are the same vibe. Why do I feel offended by that? But you love milk. I know, I really like milk. I think you like it. And I really like chocolate, but just like together. You need something not super sugary then. Just try it. Okay. Just try it. Just try it. I love it. I'm actually now craving it. At 9am.

08What are you guys loving right now? You've consistently been like the clever girl because you've talked about a book three times I've been on the podcast with you. So thank you. This podcast has been the best. I'm getting pumping your ego right now. Yes, okay. I love London Falling. I raved about that. And I was craving something similar. I'm now reading Good People. It's about an accident that takes place in a family, an Afghan family who's moved to the US. and the interviews transpire. Well, so it basically interviews everyone around them except for the actual family who the accident centres around.

49Right, so you basically get different POVs of everyone involved. And it's quite thrilling. It's really interesting. That's it. That's what I've got to describe. But I was just looking for something that was... Like gritty. Yes. When do you read? In the morning and at night. In the morning? like I have a bath every morning in the bath I think you know that I do know that I do know you're like Nana who has a bath in the morning I just can't get can you do that I love the idea of it I feel like I'd fall asleep like baths to me are very relaxing in the evening and like wind down yeah they're not like I need let's go I almost call it like the bridging between sleep and like being awake okay like for me because I can just get it like you know when you wake up you're like oh I have to work yeah you can just get in and just sit I'm never like that because I love that but it just it's like and I it's still all dark around me like I keep the room dark and everything oh wow I have like mood lighting wow there's a real ritual here yeah love it that's my ritual Lou what are you loving right now um so I love a staycation and finally you really love a I really do I really do I think when you have children just the like the the perk of being able to just kind of get out of the house but not like all the rigmarole of like packing and travel and airplanes and blah blah blah anyway we went to a it's a newly renovated pub um in Hampshire called the Candover and it's basically a pub with rooms but it is so beautiful they've renovated it so like the the interiors are stunning there's a gorgeous garden for like kids to run around in a little playground the food is amazing it's in this really cute quaint little charming village and I feel like the cost of travel recently has got so insane and the rooms are from 200 pounds which feels really reasonable for within two hours of London um and it was a nice just kind of chill we literally just went for one night 24 hours and it was just so easy and sweet and we were in one of the family rooms and there was like bunk bed in the corner with a little um curtain so like for my daughter that was such fun to be able to be like hiding in her room in her bunk bed.

57And it was really sweet. I'm going to Paris this weekend. I can't actually believe it's been a year since I've been engaged, but it's to basically - Oh, you're going to celebrate. Sweet. Because we obviously even got engaged there last year, so we were like, let's go back. I can't believe that it's been a year. Me neither. That feels like two months. That literally feels like a blink. I mean, I've done barely anything for the wedding, so let's get a move on. But yeah, we're going back this weekend and I basically just tried to book some new places that we've not been before. So there's a place called Billy, which is like a it's not a vinyl bar but it's like a restaurant that has loads of vinyls it's very dark and like sexy and fun so that's okay it's like a pasta like chill place you are so good at finding restaurants honestly i properly search and i don't know if it's just me but has instagram search gotten like way better yes because i i just feel like i used to search things and it would come up with the complete opposite wait so you search up via instagram well i do tiktok as well but recently because it's gotten better like a lot of people are doing those kind of guides or like you know five sheet places to go or whatever and like when you search for it actually comes up with properly good things now so i was searching on instagram another one i booked was tarantula only because which is like a mexican i've heard really good things about that yeah i've heard a lot of nice things about and also i just feel like when you go to paris you end up having a lot of pasta and a lot of french food which is obviously perfect but i kind of wanted just like one meal that was a bit different or a bit just whatever yeah nice um and i think it's quite chill and and they do it in slightly like a different way.

21I really struggle in London with like Mexican food. Like there's only one or two places that I think are genuinely good. Do you know the other day I was really craving Mexican and I was like, I don't know where to go in London for the best. It's really hard. I don't even, I mean, there's one place I go called Lucia's. Australia Lucia's. It's called Lucia's. Really? It's in Hackney and it's so good. It's so random. It's like this one little, like it's got just one counter and it's like next door is like where you go for a rave. Like it's really so random, but it's delicious. You want to do your perfect night?

47Yeah, my perfect night. a taco and then a ranch. But yeah, and also Tac, I think everyone says that's quite good. But that's not like a typical taco place. That's like fancy tacos. That sounds fancy. Yeah. And then there's lots of coffee shops and cafes. I mean, I feel like Paris has never ending coffee shops and cafes, but there's a really cute one called Cortado. And they have like an actual restaurant that you can have like nice dinner and stuff. But then the actual coffee shop is sweet. And I think I'm gonna work there on Friday as well. So nice. Hi. I am such a like stuck record when I go to Paris.

17I just do the same things every time. It's quite like a visual of what I like to do. But there are so many amazing places, but I am quite like my comfort. No, I'm the same as well. I've done that the past couple of times, so this time we were like, let's just do something a bit different. I mean, we are going to Lulu, which I feel like we do every single time. Oh, it is so fun. The vodka pasta, I like. It's so good. And the little donuts as well. Oh, I've not had that. They're like chiquettes. Is that what they're called? With then the cream in the middle. Oh, my God, it's so good. it's also a really nice time of year to go because it's so quiet we went this time last year and because everyone leaves yeah i was there this time last year yeah because i think like most obviously french take august off and travel so it's nice and quiet and good weather and you can just kind of wander the streets and oh heaven i'm quite jealous we haven't got a plan for this weekend and i do this every every time i don't book bang holiday and then i'm like damn it why am I not doing something?

14So like, I'll be, I don't know, last time, last bank on lay, we did a very last minute, but within 24 hours to go to Italy. So, who knows?

27Before we move on to Fashion Finds, here is your reminder to please subscribe. It really helps us out. Fashion Finds, what are we loving? New season coming. Massimo's new wins. Oh, it is very good. Oh my God. So I have never done this before where I've looked at a whole outfit and bought the whole outfit. Oh, wow. That is when you know it's good. That's exactly. Like they have got the most insane stuff. I basically, I have been looking for this type of outfit for a really long time. It's very like CBK coated. It's like a turtleneck, but it's, or you guys call it a roll neck. But it's not long sleeve.

01It's like to there. Oh, very you. Knit. Yeah. With a, I don't own a midi skirt. With a white midi skirt. Cute. And a heeled, like a leather black ballet flat with a little heel. It is giving CBK. It is giving CBK. It's also giving back to work in September. Yes. And I'm going to be coming in and I got a little headband. Cute. And I just bought these vintage Tom Ford sunnies. It's going to be 90s. Like, who are we? I love it when you have a full new outfit. Yeah. I hope it looks good. So it's arriving today. Okay. And I've actually, as a ballet flat fiend, so I was going to order the Repetto the black Repetto ballet flats mine I have the pink ones on right now they're so uncomfortable hopefully I'll be able to break them in but I'm just not in the mood to break things in like that the number one ones are the Chanel ballet flats but they're a lot of money and I've heard really really good things about these Massimo ones like apparently they don't take any time to break in or anything so I really rate Massimo she's yeah me too actually yeah yeah i mean they've had a really good few months and collections i'm loving disavary's new collection i know we've obviously had a bit more of a sneak peek but it's coming out and the campaigns are coming out at the moment and all the um leopard print and all the leather like it just feels like perfect london autumn winter so very excited for that to come out properly i was scrolling and this dress came up on my for you page and i was like oh my god i need this i mean i'm probably not gonna get it because it's like some couture like insane dress but it It was really giving me this like bridal couture inspo, but it's not a white dress.

37It's sort of like a party dress you'd wear after you get married. And it's like this amazing kind of - I can see you in a not white dress. Oh yeah, for sure. I mean for the actual like going down the aisle, I would do white, but this is more like a party dress. It was like fringy kind of like champagne gold color. So cool. The brand is Thai Bitten. Oh wow. So nice of that. STFU. Oh my God, I love that. I like have no idea how much it costs, where one buys that from oh my god it's love it's so gorgeous and like the model looks amazing in it but it's given me a bit of inspo like whether it's this dress or something similar like i feel like that kind of no i think you need that yeah i think it's kind of like fringing yeah it's like little tassily fringy love you know where else does um dresses kind of like that matters world okay which which is a new brand and they've got lots of fringing it's really cool and it's quite Quite a good price point.

31Okay. Good to know. Have you guys seen the new Cezanne rebrand? Yes. Amazing. Yes, and it's going really viral, which I'm so happy for them that it is. Really, really viral. But like we were saying yesterday, every single thing on our For You pages is Cezanne's rebrand in the new collection and people like putting things in their basket and screenshotting it. Yeah, it's so happy for them. Obviously, it's been like, you know, kind of a cold brand, which like everybody loves. But I feel like the rebrand has kind of really taken it up a notch. and like obviously I'm so into the kind of the aesthetic and the mood that a brand creates as well as the product and they've been using like you know different photographers very much like a kind of more elevated more modern art direction and it looks so good and there's a burgundy leather I got sent the lookbook a couple of months ago and it's a kind of high funnel neck burgundy leather i guess all this oh my god it's so good i think it's called the jewel and that shape is just also like sumptuous um love and like their knitwear they've got some like a really cool like cape um trench and like knits just with a bit of something else not like just a crew like i love i love all that stuff but yeah something that i feel like you know come october november we're in on it like knit yeah all the time so i think when a Nick can do a bit more for you.

51Yeah. They're great and I feel like that collection is doing that. I love this time of year when you just see the new bits popping in and like what people are gonna get. We're about to have some serious drops. I know, I feel it. I'm really excited.

10Let's move on to celebrity. Let's start with Jacob and Kendall. Your mate. Your mate? My new boyfriend. Your bestie. We're going straight for husbands actually. Yeah, sorry, not my friend. With all due respect, we are dating now. I met Jacob Elordi last week and this is why he doesn't do interviews. A lot of people were wondering because the video that we posted obviously starts off with me being like, if you won't give us an interview, please give us a photo. Essentially, I think what he told us earlier in the clip because I was sort of not badgering, politely badgering him. As you should. Because he was speaking to another publication that was next to us and they are historically a print publication whereas we are digital and he looked at us and I was like well why won't you give us an interview like Australian bonding I was really putting it out there that I was Australian and he was like because I hate social media he was doing it in a bit of a joking tone but that was the reason why he wasn't giving us an interview and Sapna was very disgruntled by the fact that he didn't like social media and I was like texting each year like what the fuck does he mean he doesn't like social media his whole career is built on social media it does beg the question like he his girlfriend yeah who's not me is historically like queen of instagram so I don't I think perhaps that was a it's yeah it's a really weird thing like I I get both sides of it like I understand especially actors who like they really think when they believe that what they do is their craft and that is very separate from like marketing and like social media and having to publicize it but it's a business at the end of the day any like job in the public sphere is a business and you have to do both sides and it comes hand in hand and people's love for you via social media or via coming to watch your film or engaging in the marketing is what makes you money what makes your film do well so don't say you don't love social yeah and also that you can confuse like using social media for your own like personal use you know he's not uploading his outfits every day although we'd love it but yeah there's other other ways like as a we're a business you are promoting it through exactly as a society we are moving and shifting away from traditional print mediums or like free to air tv and towards social media it doesn't necessarily like of course i think there are negative connotations sometimes attached to social media which i understand but at the end of the day like that's just the world that we live in yeah where do we think that lands in with him and Kendall because they're also obviously doing their like their dating tour and going around London and I feel like what did you call their London tour yeah their London tour did you see the most recent pic of his hand in her back pocket oh my god and her hand around the wrist I was like ah yeah but that felt again like I don't know if we're being really critical of them like they could be so in love and we're just being very skeptical because all like public relationships like that feel a little bit fake sometimes yeah but like what do you guys think of I mean like I don't think they're pretending but i also think that they know what they're doing yeah like they understand they know that everyone thinks that they're an incredibly attractive couple they dress the same like they're the boy and girl versions of each other yeah i think that they may be madly in love and i hope they are like i want the best for kenny and jakey and but i also think like he knows that a hand in the back pocket like everyone's into that they know there's images I found her outfits quite different this time around.

55They just don't really feel like her. I mean, maybe she is a bit of a comedian that she maybe doesn't have a super refined personal style and obviously looks incredible and everything. But I don't know, there was the tight blue dress. Just didn't feel like something I would have seen her wear out with girlfriends. No, me neither. Or just out day to day. and I don't know I was like imagining you know those you know those iconic photos of celebrities yes you know 50 years later yeah the 90s yeah yeah like Johnny and Kate yeah and you're looking at their outfits and like they look so good together something about it and again maybe I'm being just really skeptical felt so forced no but you know what they say the devil works hard but Kris Jenner works hard I mean it's true yeah she's like guys this is the vision this is yeah she's like probably their Pinterest mood boy going this is gonna be your vibe you need to wear this today yeah make sure jake was wearing that yeah you're going to river cafe so what what is he wearing let's make and a hand in the back pocket just to top it all off i did like do you know i did like the hand in the back i did oh my god i didn't like that yeah i didn't like i'm gonna message henry and be like can you start to yeah would you say your team jacob and kendall or team zoe and harry i just i kind of don't care about Harry and Zoe anymore.

20Do you know what I mean? Like I'm just not getting anything from that relationship. And I'm so glad they are happy they're getting married. Like so lovely. Do we have to get anything from them? No, for sure not. I get a lot of style and spod from both of them. Oh, for sure. Yeah. They to me are so peak relationship dressing. Yeah, I so agree. We went to Harry Styles. We were in the box that Zoe was in. She was a couple of rows ahead of us. I did not know that. Yeah. Yes, Lou. Oh my God. Steph and I were there. Yeah. And we were watching her. She rocked up in like nothing but like looking incredible.

54By nothing I mean just - Like a tank shop. Yeah, probably like a Saint Laurent tank and the Roe Bermuda shorts. She was just sort of jigging, jigging, is that a word? Jigging about her fiance on stage. And I just thought, how cool. Yeah. That is like a rare aesthetic of just like the cool girlfriend or fiance, whatever, on the sidelines just like casual yeah it could never be me i wouldn't i'm not chic like that in a world of zoe and harry's i am taylor swift oh 100 what as in like like travis is there in the sidelines like being so not nonchalant like he is so like oh my god i love you this is so cool you're so cool i'm so happy to be here yeah you have the like yeah people like zoe who's like Yeah, but I feel like take Zoe and Harry relationship out of the equation.

44I don't imagine she's listening to Watermelon Sugar High in her. I don't think. See, I reckon Travis is listening to Shaken Off every morning. Exactly. I don't imagine that's her like natural music genre. So she's there to support and like boogie, but she's not going to be like. Well, her dad's Lenny Kravitz. Exactly. Which doesn't really align with Harry's tunes. She actually just is so cool. She is. She's really cool. Another thing is Earl Meets World is coming, which if you don't know, is Alex Earl and her family's new TV show. It's coming to Netflix and I really feel like this is going to be the next Kardashians.

20This is going to be the family. I agree with you. That we all are obsessed with and watch and everything. I mean, obviously on social media, Alex has so many followers. She's got so many people who are obsessed with her and her every single move. I mean, she has shared every inch of her life. So I think that's obviously how she's built that following. but the fact that even her family can get that same attention i mean her sister's now kind of riding off of that but are they interesting yes well i think they are there's quite a lot of kind of law with that family a big her dad cheated on her mom yeah with her now stepmother that's it yeah he had somewhat of a profile and it was in the news and everything it was quite a big deal like in the town that they're from yeah i don't know it was no it was it was bigger than that yeah It was probably quite big actually.

05I'm probably playing it down. In the news, it was quite a high profile scandal that happened quite a few years ago. She comes from a very wealthy family. Yeah. Which I just think all the makings of a great reality show. But it has those vibes of the, Robert Kardashian being the lawyer and the whole scandal with OJ and all of that really built the interest in when they first launched the TV show, other than obviously them starting to become somewhat famous, whatever. This has those same vibes of there's a big scandal and they're all quite fashionable and they all have whatever. Obviously it's different now because they are starting with social media where you do already see so much of her life, so much of her sister's life.

43So I'm a bit like, what's going to be different about this? I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I am so not interested in all of these new Doctor Who series. Do you watch reality? Not in that way. Like I love the original Love Islands and like when Big Bang first started. Like when they first start and I feel like it you the people and the personalities feel more real in that way yeah I feel like personally now they have they're doing it for the fame and the social media currency and the viral moments and it doesn't feel quite so natural yeah so like that you know I saw like Jessica Simpson's doing a documentary is coming out soon yeah like I just feel like gravitate towards documentaries now rather than reality yeah and i'm probably more interested in in that but i like a good series yeah like i don't know i feel like people's lives are so shoved down our throes moment with social media and and coverage that i feel like sometimes just it's a bit much i think though it is this like the parasocial relation like people love to know everything about someone's life and that's why as much as i don't really care about an excel I understand why so many people do and it's because she gives so much of herself and now because this show is coming out there are so many things she's almost kept out so that when it comes out all of those things people want to know is in the show for example the whole drama with Alex Cooper apparently they're going to reveal what's actually happened and they've really really like gone in on that on the trailer to like build the hype or whatever they're having that much drama in your life I know but then again like I love the Kardashians like even if nothing was happening in an episode I love it but I think that the access that we got from them and the amount of drama and just their personalities it was like a one in a million diamond gold mine that we had that in a show.

41I think a lot of people try to replicate that for sure and it's never heard. And it's not a one size fits all approach. Create that drama and then capitalize on relationships that maybe aren't as juicy as you're trying to make. But if they are, I am here for it because I do love a good reality show. I just find it's such a nice way to switch off and just have something in the background. And I do find her interesting. Watching her videos can be quite captivating. She can reel you in. But will that translate to longer form? I'm not sure because she's usually doing it, what, in like 30-second clips for TikTok?

15Exactly. I think it will be interesting to see if we can do that because the only other person that comes to mind is Brooks Nader and she tried to do that with her family. And they did give quite a lot of access but they just weren't able to replicate it. I think so many people have tried. You've got to have that certain level of star power, the interest. And I get to a lot of people, she's probably just another influencer but I think there is something there that like because it's the whole family I think it will be quite big. We'll see. Have you guys seen that Margaret Quarley wore the new Chanel barefoot shoes on the red carpet?

56They are, I mean I think she is the most beautiful person in the world. Same, agree. Without a doubt. Like she is absolutely stunning. Agree. And put her in anything, she looks incredible. I'm like scanning down, scanning down, scanning down, stunning, stunning, stunning, 10 out of 10, no notes, get to the shoes. Why are your toes out, babe? They are so unattractive. And I love Chanel. Everything you're doing right now, we all agree, is amazing. I'm not sure what's going on with the shoes. I think that it was a play on words of like having her dogs out because you know how people call dog, like feed dogs.

32Oh, maybe. And it's like the dog stars is the name of the movie. So I think it was intentional. I mean, she is a Chanel. And it's about an apocalypse. the show. So she was method dressing, perhaps. Perhaps. I think she is obviously also a Chanel ambassador and so she's wearing new season Chanel and it just so happens that these barefoot shoes are new season Chanel. But I don't think she would have worn it had that not been the context, had it not been called the Dog Stars and it was about an apocalypse. But I guess taking her out of it completely as a product, as a style, as a trend, like what's going on there?

07Because who wants their barefoot on the floor? But yeah, I mean, that's a health and safety hazard. Without a doubt. like you would imagine wearing that in New York like absolutely not in London even I was saying the other day when I wear flip flops my feet go black so how is anyone wearing those kinds of shoes should I like cut your feet up totally I rock up next week but like regardless of that they're just so ugly but like the ugly shoe has had a big moment historically yeah and I remember when the Chanel dad sandals came out being like are you joking what on earth has the world come to they're the most hideous things I've ever seen and then like a season later I'm like added to basket that's so funny I remember give in i mean sorry exactly i'm wearing like i'm wearing like i'm wearing mesh shoes now but they've got a foot to them lou says whilst wearing literally a mesh nude flat and i'm sure they'll be they'll maybe i'll be wearing them soon but i feel like we all get so brainwashed it's true entirely into some of these trends because you see you suddenly see everybody really wearing them and people of influence and you know the you know the chanels and like they're on the catwalk and they're runway and you're like oh okay what's this prominence and it starts trickle down and we're all brainwashed and you'll look back and be like what on earth but there's a difference between like ugly shoe and like just completely non-functional shoe and not practical non-practical also you're paying probably what a grand for this much of leather yeah i don't think it is supposed to be functional i think it is supposed to be a controversial like a talking point and another way to flex luxury because it is so non-functional yeah but sorry also not in the luxury market the havianas with the toe ah yes but like even the you know the tabby i'm still oh yeah i'm still not the the havianas i almost feel like we will see them a lot more and even just like Copenhagen fashion week they were on every single person and I think it is sometimes like when you just see something so much like you say you get brainwashed into thinking you like it yeah there was a point last year or the year before and I still quite like it where I was wearing dad sandals with like a red sock that feels like somewhat really yeah wild yeah I don't know I still love it but you are good at that I do like an ugly yeah I think I think it goes back to this sort of like offsetting something to feel less intentional that you haven't tried so hard and you're not trying so hard to look attractive that you're just like throwing something ugly on to just kind of ruffle it up and like not take yourself too seriously and not think you look.

43But I find a dad's sandal or a big, or even like the Javianas, the ones that we're talking about with the toe, they, whilst they are ugly, they do elongate the leg. Okay. I would say that. I would say though. I'd say being barefoot elongates your leg. Totally. But then covering your big toe doesn't. I think it does. And the dad sandal, similarly, the juxtaposition between the big versus like your ankle makes you look like a similar leg. Definitely that does. Okay. Well, add in the comments whether you are pro the ugly shoe. Like literally clip this clip in like a year when we're all sat there wearing the freaking Chanel barefoot shoe.

25I can see myself wearing it. I'm just not sure. Like, not out, but at home. Okay. For, like, an event at home. Like, if I had a garden party or something. Like, a little, like, mini dress in it. I think that would be cool. Like, in the garden.

43Right, we're going to move on to the hot topic. Lou, do you want to kick us off? Anna Lynn McCord of 90210 fame and Danny Cipriani recently got married and they crowdfunded their wedding too far it's way too far like that is and i am too so now there's a line i think there is asking you know with gifting i feel like more and more people now have donations toward their honeymoon that still i'm a little on the fence with yeah but i understand in that you know you've put on a lovely day for your family and friends and sometimes people buy gifts which you know it's a tray and it's just going to sit in the corner like why not put the money towards something different yeah but crowdfunding the whole wedding what and also i'm sorry but aren't they like really freaking rich like she she's an actor and he's obviously quite rich she's done anything since 92 i think if you're crowdfunding your wedding that's a pretty good indicator.

48They're having a bit of a struggle but like to me that's also a recession indicator. It's such a recession indicator. Yeah but also if you can't have the wedding that you want, don't have it. Like strike it back, do something different. I just think asking people to pay for your own wedding is wild in my opinion. I agree. It's just gone too far. Sometimes I think the wedding culture has just tipped over the edge and this is one of those moments where that just reinforces for me. With planning your wedding now, do you feel like there are things that you think I must do? I think I felt that way a lot more before I saw the costs of things.

26And then you very quickly are like, no, that's fine, that can go. Or like, that's not that important. I think it is like, you've got to have the things that are non-negotiable to you that like you will just save for or make sure you spend a bit more. And like, for me, the venue is that. Like I will spend like, obviously the majority of the money on that. All the other things will hopefully just come or be scaled down or whatever, like flowers, for example. What are your non-negotiables? Venue. Like outfits. I am like quite into what we're going to be wearing and what's going to look like. And then I think food is actually quite a big thing for us as well.

59Like we do want Indian food. We want it to be like, we're both such foodies so I wouldn't like scrimp on food either. But everything, like alcohol, don't really care, drink champagne, have a cocktail, whatever, like that can be. That's so funny. See, I'm probably the opposite. Really. What would your non-negotiables be? I would, I actually don't know if I care that much. Like my dream wedding, I was actually thinking about this the other day, would literally be doing it at home. Like some of my favorite birthdays that I have is like my stepdad on the barbecue, having like some eskies of like wine, just kind of help yourself.

31What's eskies? Like cool boxes. With ice in them, you can help like free, like you can just help yourself. Have someone in the corner making cocktails. A bit more relaxed. Yeah. And just having a good, I think sometimes when you put pressure on it like that. Yeah, it takes 100%. It takes away from what it's actually about. And that's what I think, because one of my hot takes the other day that we were talking about was the more extravagant the wedding, the more likely you are to divorce. Which I know is obvious, that's like a really blanket statement. I don't think that about everyone. But I just think we have veered so far into the territory of like, first look, second look, third look, recovery day look, like this, this, this, that, when it's like, it's actually ultimately just supposed to be about like the union of love and being surrounded by your favorite people.

23And having them have a nice time. And like, at the end of the day, that is the most important part. I feel like it's all the details as well that people go into of like, every single thing needs to have a name and a personalized letter and then this and then that. And then like all of those kinds of things to me, it's not so important. A bespoke drawing of every gift. But I feel like that is also where social media has ruined that because everything is so documented that everything is seen therefore everyone is then like okay I must then do something different yeah and like just do you but it's even like the bridesmaids boxes I'm like oh my god I was like to my girls I was like you're gonna be bridesmaids and you're not getting anything like it's a text like I don't know like I think the proposals of like will you be and then you have this whole thing it's like it's lovely and if you want to do that and you want like that's amazing but I just think it's too much I just find it no offense It's self-indulgent.

10It is quite self-indulgent. Like, sorry, no offense to anyone. I see people on TikTok being like, my bridal shower, my engagement party one, my engagement party two, my engagement party three. I was like, there's this, there is someone that I've been watching and I'm just like, babes. That is insane. It's a lot. Like, how interested do you think, if that was my friend, I'd be like, mate, I'll come to two events next. And then I'm tapping out. People have to pay for outfits for every single thing you're doing. and like all the, yeah, which is why as well, I think like our thing has always been to have a slightly smaller wedding because we know that everyone who's going to be there is going to be like, really wants to be there.

46Yeah, and if it's in a broad wedding, you're spending money to get there as well. And I feel like there are a lot of the girls in the office, I ask what they're doing this weekend. They're like, we've got a wedding in Mykonos. We've got a wedding in Greece. We've got a wedding in Italy. wow, it's like making holidays out of all of it. Which is so beautiful and like, I think the celebration is so lovely and it's also a point really in wedding season now just given our ages but i just think people it can yeah it's getting too much yeah it's almost like people are trying to go viral from their wedding so people get married and have a big wedding to go viral yeah because it does like and it's filming every moment of it like i've seen so many tiktokers be like about what no like i couldn't like you would just want to be in the moment i think i would anyway like not be filming a tiktok just before about to go down there and that's not to also bash anyone no having it it's just giving a sort of different opinion yeah for sure and deeping it slightly because i do think there is room to deep it and i don't know if you've seen that tiktok but it's an account called the vogue wedding to divorce pipeline and she basically covers all these vogue weddings that have happened over the the past few years and then how they end in divorce.

06Oh, that's sad. It's really sad. That is sad. Anyway, yeah, slightly ridiculous that they are crowdfunding their wedding, but let's see how that goes. I'd love to see what they end up with actually. Well, no, actually that was such a big tangent. It happened. Oh, it happened already. It's happened and they had empty seats, which is also even awkward. Oh, that's sad. Yeah. That makes me feel sad though. I know, it is sad. Like, I don't like you anymore. Well, I hope they had a lovely day.

35Okay, let's move on to dilemmas. Right, first up. I told my sister a baby name years ago and now she said she wants to use it for her new baby. She says names aren't ownable. What should I do? Ooh, that is so annoying. That is so annoying. That is why you just don't tell people your baby names. I don't know, part of me is like, on one camera I'm like, get it out there and just put it out there that's your baby name and you've claimed it. That's true, yeah. Or just don't say it. and if someone happens to come up with it, then fair game. Like, whatever's annoying. Okay, if it's something like Jack, I think that's pretty fair game, no?

13Because that's a very common name. If it's like Cordelia, then I'm getting pissed. But not your sister, though. Like, of all people, like, fine if it's a friend or a distant relation who's then done something similar and you're like, okay, fine, whatever, that's annoying, but like, whatever. Your sister, who you've said, sister I am naming my child this one day it's a bit dicky but I would say also that then the name is then tainted yeah if either then you have a conversation you're like that's really unfair I really want to as my name and then they're like okay fine fine fine we'll back out to me that is like the name for both of you is sort of yeah a bit ruined so I don't think so really I'd be happily taking like if it's one that I've really thought about my whole life yeah there's one name that I love, which I'm not telling you.

04And if someone took that, if my sister was talking about taking it. Do they know it? Well, she's eight years younger than me, so I'm hoping that I'll probably get there first. Okay. But we actually also have this in my family because, not to bring the mood down, my dad passed away. And we all want to call, like my dad's name was Angus. Everyone, I have five siblings. We all want to call our first son Angus. So it's like who gets there first? Or we all just have Angus, Angus, Angus. Or do you have the Angus middle name? Yeah, you could all have it as middle names. That's so sweet. But I just like, I think I really like the name Angus and so do my siblings.

42Like it's quite a nice strong voice name. It's also quite, I don't know if it is Australian, but it sounds good. Yeah, I think it is Scottish, but it gives Australian vibes. I know that my brother, because he's two years younger than me, he's a bit like, ooh, who's going to get that first? well okay so what do you actually do in this situation then you tell her i think you tell her yeah a hundred percent i think you say again i think if it was a friend different scenario but i think if it's sister you can be really honest and be like babe like that was my name yeah because at least with a friend you could be like oh that was mine too like i probably will still name my child that and then then it's a bit of like true actually you could yeah whereas with a sit like You can't have two in the same family.

24Maybe people do have that, but do it. But if you're a best friend, so you have Cordelia and I have Cordelia. That's so weird. Yeah, it's so weird. I got Botox and lip filler and didn't tell my partner. He noticed and said that I didn't need it. Now I feel like I can't tell him when I get it again. What should I do? I think you can tell him again. Yeah. I think he's just saying that in a way that he thought you were beautiful before and you didn't need it. Yeah, imagine if you got it and you were like, oh yeah, way better. yeah that's so much better like obviously he's trying to be nice about oh honey look totally i wouldn't overthink that i think like he's being supportive of your pre-philid self yeah and but i think i think when you start to hide things like that from your partner then yeah it's a slippery yeah you shouldn't you shouldn't and i think i also think you shouldn't want to hide it anyway no and anything hey chicago class it up with crocs You know back to school is coming in fast.

20So why wait to find your new fave footwear? Step into a local croc store and step into your new look. Try it. Style it. Make it yours. Because the right pair doesn't just show up. It shows off. First day fits handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest croc store today. I think that makes you feel good about yourself. and how you look like shouldn't be anything bad anyway. Like whether or not they have an opinion on it, I think you just have to be honest and be like, well, this makes me feel good. Exactly, there should be no shame in it. Exactly. Oh, wow. No, I agree, like don't hide it.

57But I do sometimes think if it's someone that you love and I think that the need to change your physical appearance comes from external pressures. I don't think that we're born thinking that wrinkles are bad. I think that it's natural to say, look like I understand why you would want to do that but I don't I really think you're beautiful the way that you are and you really don't I really don't think that you should feel the need to do that like I think you're so within or the boyfriend is within his grounds to tell oh for sure oh yeah in a nice way it depends how you say it obviously in a nice yeah yeah but I think it's more that they think they should hide it from them in the future yeah I also think that injectables like it also depends on your age I guess but like filler and and Botox it's a slippery slope to go down further so maybe he's trying to saying that from the point of being like don't overdo don't yeah yeah but I feel like if your partner is saying I don't think you should do it well yeah you can't tell anyone not to but I think a decision like that should be made for how you feel about yourself yeah and you know not from what someone else is saying to you but i think it's nice it's like you said i think it's nicer to have the support of i don't think you need it and it's good to hear that i think because yeah you know i feel like often there'll be people around you who maybe get things done or your other girlfriends are getting it done and there's a kind of sisterhood in it and maybe it's important to know that actually i don't have to yeah also not being funny but they swell up when you get them done so there's no hiding it yeah also you come home like also just like get pregnant because your lips get bigger when you get pregnant yeah it's mad what a hack yeah yeah i mean there's lots of downsides but like there's two good body perks for me i'm excited for that yeah someone with like no boobs i'm really looking forward to yeah it's really it's really fun okay well we're gonna end it there thanks so much and thank you for watching as always please please tell them guys look into the camera and tell them please subscribe it helps us out so much and like we said before it just means that you see all of our content first and it means we can do more pods like this so see you very soon and thanks for watching

Elsewhere, they unpack Jacob Elordi and Kendall Jenner’s hard launch – is it genuine or do they know exactly what they’re doing? Plus, they discuss whether Alix Earle’s new Netflix series could become the next ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ and whether Chanel’s controversial barefoot shoes are proof we’ve taken the ugly-shoe trend too far. Finally, expect a heated debate on crowdfunding weddings, stealing baby names, Botox, lip filler and relationship honesty.
