1:24We always say that if you really want to get to know someone, you have to ask them their best. Usually on Besties we invite guests in and we ask them their best but today we're doing things a little differently. I've got my real life in office best and out of office just to clarify. We've spent the whole weekend together but today we're going to be asking each other our favourite summer recommendations from like travel destinations to the products we're using to our confidence rituals. We're going to know it all. We're going to get to the bottom of our summer best and it's a silk skin summer isn't it i mean just take a look at us ladies take a look at all of us we're partnering with vaseline this episode we're going to be sharing some of the products that have been absolute staples in our summer routine let's get into it shall we let's do it india i feel like i know you quite well i feel like i've got some secrets that i'm gonna reveal this podcast okay let's see you are a summer girl we both are yeah What is the best summer destination you've visited?

2:24My answer is a bit cliche, but I did go to Barcelona this summer with my boyfriend and his family. Barcelona as a city, you've got the best of both worlds. You've got the city and you've got the beach. So you can intertwine between both. We actually did like a little boat day out, which was so fun. It was me, his brothers, his parents. And it was just us like in and out of the water, hopping on and off the boat. I would have never thought to do that in Barcelona. It was so nice it was amazing because then you just get back have a little dinner by the port yeah look at all the yachts that I can't afford but look at them I'm dreaming a girl can only dream but yeah it was just like the perfect holiday also this is a bit rogue or a bit niche but I went to Antwerp last year with my mum.

3:08Niche? Antwerp if you love exhibitions if you love shopping if you love like little boutique stores is amazing for like a little weekend girls trip or like just with your mom yeah with your mom or on your ones it's perfect for like if you're into culture and lifestyle and all that stuff what about you mine's actually tied to both me and daisy now i went away to morocco about two years ago and stayed in this hotel called farmhouse marrakesh which was amazing and daisy got engaged there yes so like at least that like acknowledges how amazing this place was because it is honestly in the middle of mountains, there's nothing around.

3:45You kind of drive to it and you're like, am I being taken? Is this the film taken or am I going on the best holiday ever? Luckily, it's the last one, but I think that's got to be up there. Okay, best bucket list holiday you're desperate to book. Brazil, Brazil gets me to Brazil. Yes, I was going to say that. No way, were you actually? Yeah, should we go to Rio? Well, I want to go to Rio for Carnival next February. So do I. And that is on the plan. Like that's on the cards with my friends. I've literally been dying to go so much to the point where I think it has to happen within the next 12 months.

They've got loads of different scents and I've been using the dark spot one so it's a gold bottle it smells amazing and the gold one is the dark spot combatter so it evens up my skin tone loads and obviously it's so lightweight it really helps with smoothing up my skin it's not drying at all which I absolutely love it also absorbs really quickly so you know when you put on the cream and then you put your like clothes on after and it's got like that patchiness sometimes with like something else And you just sat there like this for like hours.

6:53You're trying to dry. Dry. But you don't get that at all, which is great because like when you're wearing silk outfits, especially in the summer, because we're trying to get our legs out and just wear lighter clothes. It doesn't show the patchiness on that at all, which is amazing. Yeah, that's what you need. I still want to like be laying there in my room, like drying, trying to wait. Also, my boyfriend and I, so whenever I go over to his, I hate using his lotion because his is so thick. And we have this joke where whenever I go to his, I now have to bring my lotion. and this is just the complete opposite.

7:23It's the one you bring. It's the one I bring because I don't have to wait there 10 hours to dry. So he uses his, I use mine and he's actually started using mine as well because he's like, actually, this is great. Yeah, I mean, well, you put me on it as well. Like, I have been using it a lot. Also, I've got it on today and the way that like, you know, sometimes when you get changed, you're a bit like, well, no, I need a top up of like lotion to just like make me look an extra glow, especially when you've got a tan going on. You need that little bit. And your tan looks amazing. Thank you so much.

7:51I worked really hard on it. Also, it's so infused with skincare. I feel like the whole skincare, body care thing is such a trend right now. Everyone's trying to take care of their skin just as much as they take care of their face. Totally. So this product is infused with AHAs, BHAs and PHAs. It's a bit science-y, but it's basically just acids that help exfoliate your skin. This is a sum of for taking care of your skin just as much as you take care of your face. Also the sum of the silk skin. Also the sum of the silk skin. Which I think is quite chic. like having silk skin is what you want like you know when you see a girl in town you're like do you know what you look absolutely radiant yes and you've got silk skin i know they're wearing that's i promise you i want to ask you a question you were just saying you love seeing people walking around the street like looking glowy whatever whatever i do who are your favorite skincare influencers i like glam by flow she's got amazing skin but also darcy angel her skin is literally glass and it does start from a good lotion.

8:50You know what I learned in this office? Okay. Obviously we have a great beauty team. Yeah. I learned that apparently for extra hydration you're meant to come out of the shower dripping wet and then put lotion on still wet. Really? And apparently it really locks in moisture like way better. So I've been trying it and not going to lie. That dead bright. I don't know how I feel about coming out dripping wet and then lathering more lotion on me. Try it. I promise you try it. What's the best beauty skincare hack you've learned here? I have learned the correct order of your skincare and I have learned that SPF is a lot more important than I've thought it has been my whole life but I think it is a toner first then you're going with a serum and then you're going with your moisturizer and then the final step is your SPF.

9:38I just used to mix it all about before but it's because it's because each of the molecules in each product get bigger and bigger so you want the thinnest and the lightest thing first so that your skin can absorb it and then you build it up I didn't know that I like it I'm gonna use that best spontaneous summer trip you've ever taken a spontaneous summer trip I don't do you have I've been quite spontaneous in my life I just want some main character just such spontaneous I'm so spontaneous um I got a text from one of my best friends I think it was like 12 hours before this flight and he was like hey do you want to go to barcelona i love barcelona 12 hours before the 12 hours and i was like yeah how much tickets and he was like 70 pounds but just so you know we're gonna go to el clasico which is guys if anyone's watching i'm sorry because we sound silly but anytime i mention this one of my boyfriend's friends they're like no way it's Real Madrid versus Barcelona.

10:40Massive deal, apparently. And I was like, sure, I'll go for the vibes. So I went and watched the footy. It was really cool. In the old stadium, which apparently is a massive flex. Okay. Then we decided to sleep in the airport. Yeah. You slept in the airport, like just on the floor? Guys, this is the most spontaneous I've ever been. That's a bit too spontaneous for me. I know. I need a bed. Well, we left the football game, went back to the airport. Bearing in mind, Barcelona is like two hours away. It's not that far. To get the cheapest tickets, we slept in the airport, waited until like 5am, flew to Ibiza, had to wait eight hours for the next flight.

11:18You flew to Ibiza and then... Yeah, yeah. Oh my gosh. Waited like honestly another four hours and then went back to London. And then I had to go fly to Bristol because it was my granddad's 90th birthday in Wales. So you were flying more than you actually watched the game. Totally. But do you know what? Great story. best thing you've done this summer already you've done a lot she's been about guys i've been about the town best thing i've done this summer i think was go to paris for fête de la music so cool i can't even explain it like i'm getting so excited talking about it so if you don't know fête de la music is a festival in paris that's held every year on the 21st and it's basically just like street parties so all in the set like the center of paris it's like every carnival yeah so think of nottingham carnival but like in paris and it's all types of music and it's just not one area but the whole of the center of paris so every street you turn there's a sound system there's a dj there's a pop-up there's there's so much going on and everyone flies from like i think a lot of londoners go obviously the french i had i had some london djs that i'm really go there yeah we saw Diplo we saw Major Laser apparently John Summit was there that's cool um just like some big DJs but also it's free like you're only paying for your Eurostar ticket and your Airbnb and then whatever you do there but yeah we got there Friday you didn't want to sleep in the airport like me I didn't want to sleep in the airport I am not I am type B but when it comes to traveling get me a bed get me some room service get me a lovely bathroom I can't do hostels I can't do hostels I can't do like stupid hotels Do you know what I think this is really different for us I would say people would assume I'm like that No, oh really?

13:06Whereas I'm actually like, we're out No, I can't do a hostel I will literally, if I have£5 in my bank account That is going towards a hotel room I cannot Like it could go to the worst hotel room in the world But at least I'm doing it at a hotel room Okay fine Best thing in your handbag right now I can't go anywhere without my fan yeah without a water bottle yeah without my lip liner yeah no i don't carry lip liner that's space space waste of space it is a pencil i don't what it's a waste of space and uh what the one thing and the girls will back me up on this in the office is a lotion and i obviously go for the vasting gluten high smooth perfecter because okay obviously i love a tan if you can see me now love getting tanned um need to upkeep it and the hack is you need to keep putting it on is that what the hack is honestly that's the only way it lasts and i promise you this product makes it last like weeks long well mine personally makes it last a lot longer also because it's got the skincare in it exactly helps it yeah i walked into the office today spotted the slight peel and i was like uh immediately got it on i was like it needs to go and then suddenly like everyone's like why it looks so tan but I actually use it a lot this product I'm constantly at the team's desk being like hey guys I forgot mine do you have yours yeah everything's just smoother sometimes I put something on a bit centered and a bit sticky and a bit like I feel like I'm a walking like candy right now yeah because in the past I was saying to my boyfriend again that um whenever I shower in the evening I don't usually moisturize before I go to bed because I hate the feeling of being sticky and then rolling around in my sheets like that's genuinely like my biggest fear so my girlfriend's like you should always moisturize if like after you shower get into it but this has helped a lot because it dries so quickly and it's so lightweight i can get into bed and not feel like oh my god there's like loads of stuff on my skin it dries quickly but it's not drying like i still feel really moisturized and silky we don't want ashy elbows we don't i don't want to see your ashy elbows i don't want to see your ashy knees i don't want to see your actually elbows get them away your knuckles people forget about their hands i've never well now you know okay while i while i moisturize my knuckles what is the best song that reminds you of summer oh my gosh slide by calvin harris and frank ocean 10 out of 10 and that whole album to be honest funk wave bounces volume one and there's also volume two i she knows i know my But that song specifically, it's so good.

15:45It just reminds me of summer. Mine's actually also Calvin Harris because he is summer. Calvin Harris is summer. Exactly. Feel so close. Banger. Feel so close to you right now. It's a force field. That is a banger. I can't wait to hear that. I love Calvin Harris. I really feel like summer in London is really unlocking. Yeah. What is your favourite thing to do in London in the summer? I just love going to the pub. Get me to a beer garden. But get me to the Windsor Castle in Notting Hill. Okay. Because the beer garden there, I think, is one of the best in London. The sun hits it at all the angles.

16:18It's in a great location. It's in Notting Hill. You can go to Ria's down the road for some pizza afterwards. Banging. Or you can go to Little Ludo if you want a bit of a boogie. Boogie. But yeah, I am a bit boring. I do just love going to the pub. That's not boring because I'll be right next to you. You will be there with me. What do you love? Pretty much every Thursday I turn to home. Do the eyes. The pub eyes. It's a look at each other where we're like, pub. Pub? I think my favourite thing to do London summer. I'm a big common girl. I love going to the common. You are a big common girl. I love getting all my friends together.

16:48Picnics, picky bits. What do you mean? Yeah, true. Speakers on. Yeah. Tans going. Speakers on, tans going. What do you think about tanning in the park? Some girls, I'm like, girls, you've got it unlocked. You know what? I actually don't mind it. I don't mind it. Because also everyone does it. Like if I see you in your bikini top, pop off. Exactly. Pop off. I saw a video of a lady who had her hair in a towel, a sunbed in the middle of the common in like Kensington. Yeah. She had rose being poured. She had like a face mask on. And I was like, my future is bright. My future is bright. Best summer trend right now.

17:25I was saying before that body care and skincare kind of combine. People are taking care of their bodies just as much as their skincare, which is great because your body is basically your accessory. I like that. Thank you. I don't feel good unless my body looks amazing. I'm glowing. My skin looks amazing. The skin is the outfit. The skin is the outfit because my legs are out this summer. My arms are out. Like I just want to look glowy head to toe. And leaving the house without moisturising now is like me leaving without my earrings or me leaving without my jewellery. It is an accessory. I hate feeling dry.

18:01Also this summer, what's been trending is a lot of glitter, sequins, silk. I saw Nana wearing a really cool sequin dress last week. It was like halter neck, blue and backless. Yeah. So, so hot. I was like, I need that dress. But fun. Vaseline have a really fun fashion partnership. Think along the lines of silk, sequins, glitter, just everything that's like taking over summer nightlife. Just showing off your body, showing off your skin. Just the perfect accessory for like a night out because I am the night out gal. I think you're dead right about skin being the accessory. Yes. I actually think it's been quite tight beat. No, honestly? I think having a type B travel companion is the best thing for your sanity. You're saying that because that's you. But no, I just think a type B gal or guy is going to calm you down when it's just not that serious. No. They're not in a rush. That's why I'm not calm. When you don't need to be in a rush. I just think you don't need to be at the airport five hours before.

19:54You absolutely do. You actually don't. You do. You don't. I've never missed my flight before, ever. My mum is very type A, but she's missed air flights. I'm type B and I've never missed a flight. Okay, I would say I think I'm both. I'm both type A, type B. Okay. You backed me up on that, right? I'm not super type A. Side eye. Side eye. However, it gets to the airport, I am militant again. I am the airport dad. I would have a see-through folder if I could, but that's not my life. No, no, let's leave it in 2005. I just... We've got boarding passes on our phones in our Apple wallets. I would rather have a leisurely time picking up all my bits and bobs, picking my books, getting my stuff, eating somewhere.

20:39I'm not saying five hours. I want to go from A to B. No, agreed. As soon as possible. But like, as in that means from check-in to the plane. Okay. Best celebrity style you've spotted this summer? I'm obsessed with Stassi, baby. it starts the summer and we're just watching it is starts the summer and we're just watching it starts as silk skin summer agreed wow love that the four s's i just i want to be i want to be har and alexelle again notice their skin they're glowing this is why it's their summer more influencers that i love yeah this way you need a good lotion because it's the first thing i notice like they look so good right now i just love their style they are literally living the life that every girl wants to live right now.
