On this week's team podcast I'm joined by Billie and Jen and they are recommending the two hottest new restaurants in London that you absolutely need to try. What Martin's really brilliant at is a menu you want to eat every single thing on. And the music is...

0:31The music is a millennial dream. We are also taking a trip down millennial memory lane.

0:37Charlotte Collins:Do you remember those aliens that were supposed to give birth on the millennium? They came in those kinder and they were a bit like jelly. Plus, we tell you what is in our shopping bags right now. Hint, there are a lot of very good handbags out there. I got this Strathbury Kite Hobo bag, which I actually have with me today. and now they've launched a bag that I want even more. Things get deep as we discuss approaching and turning 40. I can so understand why people end up living with regret and living with that kind of sense of should have done this or should have done that because you take everything so seriously in the moment but now I look back and I'm like, why did I care about anything in my 20s?

1:12Charlotte Collins:And it's all over and I'm never going to get to have that again and that's giving me a lot of aging panic. And finally, we reflect on the big celebrity moments of the week. It's been a big week for celebs. It's only Tuesday. But the new Chanel campaign is out. I know. Chanel is leading the way. Give it a listen, give it a watch and do subscribe.

1:39Charlotte Collins:Welcome to the Sheer Lucks podcast with me, Charlotte Collins. This week I'm joined by Billy Battier and Jen George. Hi both. Hello. Before we came down here, you were just filming a mini mic with the team. Yeah. About like very millennial things, like millennial things that the gen z won't understand it has unlocked so many memories yeah it's actually really heartwarming and really nice like when when we're going through it that that gave me such a huge amount of joy yeah i know but also sad because we don't live in that simple time and that's the thing like it really was sweet simple yeah times like just got to keep my tamagotchi alive that's it well there's some things were less sweet like speaking to strangers on msn like did you ever do that strangers would just turn up on msn um no i feel like msn was you had to add someone's email address Maybe it was AOL something.

2:23Charlotte Collins:Maybe you were in a forum. I was in America, so maybe it was different there. What was your favourite thing that people have referenced in your mini-mike so far? The aliens was good. Thank you. Your alien one was good. Do you remember those? Those aliens that were supposed to give birth on the millennium. They came in those kinder. And they were a bit like jelly. I haven't thought about those in 25 years. Yeah. 26, actually, to be precise. 26 years. And then Encanto. It was called Encanto. Yeah, Encanto. Encanto. Which was like encyclopedia. It was like Google Meets encyclopedia that you put in your CD-ROM.

2:50Yeah, I remember that. Mavis Beacon typing school. Yes. What about how speed you type at? We all had, we sat in like a class at school and like learned and someone called Mavis Beacon taught us how to do it.

3:01Charlotte Collins:I really love the groovy chick chat as well. Oh yeah. I definitely had a groovy chick pencil key. Okay, cool. And then I feel like that really, and funny enough, we were talking about this yesterday, like into all of the Jacqueline Wilson books and that kind of bled into that. And then all of the - You have goosebumps. Yes. I had a goosebumps. It was like horror books. Yeah, but you could choose the - you could choose the ending. It would be like, if you want this to happen, go to page 35. If you want this to happen, go to page 28. I would love that. Yeah. I think it would fly.

3:34Charlotte Collins:We're going to move on to things we love. What are you guys loving right now? You've both got two very chic restaurants to recommend. They actually opened in the same week. They're the same owner. Oh. Did they open in the same week? They opened in the same week. Last Martino's on So & Square. I've only been for breakfast so far. I've not been for breakfast. Because it's sort of impossible to get a cookie for supper. really really good breakfast and just like a very fancy but comfortable like huge ceilings and also i just like sloan square needed a bit of an injection bit of context yeah martin who is ruby hammer's husband yeah who worked at seo house for a very long time opened the dover which is an amazing american italian restaurant on dover street and now has opened these two restaurants dover street counter and martino's yeah yeah so here's martin's empire now i mean he's living the We're living in it.

4:18Charlotte Collins:If we can get a table. Because he just nails hospitality. Dover Street Counter is the best new restaurant in London has had. What Martin's really brilliant at is a menu you want to eat every single thing on. Because it's like, especially Dover Street Counter, it's like a curation of all his favourite eats from around the world. And the music is... The music is... A millennial dream. That's why all the reviews are just like, it's actually fun to eat there. It doesn't feel stuffy. And I always say like, there's nowhere in London that it's fun to do that. In New York, you can go out and have a fun dinner, whereas in London, you have to move on.

4:49Charlotte Collins:And it survived. As someone who's actually never watched Sex and the City, and I know everybody always gives me so much hate for it, but I did feel like I had the ultimate Sex and the City night on Friday. Phoebe texted me and was like, right, I need a beer and a burger. I've got a table at David's Street Counter at 9pm. I was like, okay, great. I've got to go meet a friend, and then we're both going to run to the gym, and we did. We ran to the gym, and then came and reconvened at 9pm. and Oxford Circus. So fun. And I was like, I feel like I'm living the dream. And then we were there until they were like, maybe it's quarter to one.

5:21Seven. Yeah. Fun. Just sipping martinis and eating delicious food. How many martinis? Actually only had one espresso martini, which I don't feel like it's like the sheet. Okay, I can see the nose setting up. That's not a martini. I'm going to be judging about espresso martinis. They do a really delicious lychee margarita.

5:38Charlotte Collins:Nice. If you ordered one thing on the menu, what would it be? Do you know what? The burger was a real smash. I mean I'm going tomorrow so I need to know the burger was fantastic and I really like the fried chicken but I like fried chicken everywhere that's pretty good as in like a fried chicken burger or fried chicken like fried chicken popcorn chicken whatever and I really like the spaghetti alasagna which is like spicy tomato sauce but it's deliberately like burnt it's crispy yeah and it's like it's like angry pasta but it's delicious also the loaded fries the disco fries disco fries loaded with what cheese no it's kind of like Asian inspired like pickled ginger sesame spring onion it works see I would never order that Korean EQP mayo sounds soggy but it's not it's not soggy so that's David Street Couch yeah there's martinos martinos for breakfast I've only been so far but really delicious like lots of classic breakfast items but also with that Italian twist so they have this amazing like braised like butter beans on toast yum wild mushroom on bruschetta a really lovely like copper ham oh and then they do cacio e pepe scramble egg oh my god yeah wow yeah which is amazing so so rich but delicious you can lie down afterwards we've done a couple of trend reports on how glamour has come back into dining and this kind of old school american kind of la new york because you've got the arlington as well exactly exactly and the simpsons has just reopened on the strand so those are both kind of symptomatic of this this trend in kind of american glamour dining yeah i'm into it i'm into it too it's Glamorous but without being stuffy.

7:12I think that's the difference. You know, it's like the waiters in sort of nice outfits and stuff, but you don't feel that you can't breathe. It's not kind of white tablecloth. Exactly. Agreed.

7:22Charlotte Collins:Okay. Other things we're loving. We want to hear about your birthday party. Oh, it was my birthday party this weekend. So I turned 40 about a month ago and my husband turned 40 last week and we were both a bit like the, you know, so we just thought to counteract that, let's throw everything at it. So we did, we hired a big house in Kent, 26 people, fancy dress on the first night, which was riders and rivals themes. So good. So they were both, I think, either written or based in 1986, which is the year we were born. And everyone made a real effort as well. Like one of my friends even shaved his facial hair into like a handlebar moustache.

7:58So good. And then Saturday, we all loaded onto a coach and went to do a paddle tournament. Love. Which was really fun. Yeah, and it was very good balance of like, it was like organised fun, which I love, but equally like quite relaxed because we all sort of played. Yeah, also you could have a big booze on the side of that. Yeah, we were so lucky actually. We turned to this place and there was like a, it was a kind of rugby club next door and there was one of those delicious like Bacombat bands. So people were just like ferrying back and forth with Bacombats. Yeah. And then we did on the Saturday night black tie, which was lovely.

8:32So nice. And we got dressed up. So it was really nice. Did you have it catered both nights?

8:36Charlotte Collins:Catered, yeah. So fun. My husband wanted to cook and I was like, 26 people's a lot. And the washing up and all that stuff. I had this great caterer called Carson Kitchen, who's actually based in London. She was fab. And then we did. What else? Oh, we had this game. My mum calls it a Chinese auction and she is part Chinese, but I don't know if it's called that. I think other people call it white elephant. Oh, yeah. Where you have like the gifts. Yeah. Stick or steal, I think people call it. But I had used lots of gifts I've saved up over the last year. So like my sort of beauty presents and like some gym kit I've been kindly gifted.

9:05anyway and and that turned into like a real elbows out brawl which i love people go feral yeah we did it after supper said i want to have a few drinks and yeah people really went feral if people don't know you basically have enough presents for everyone there and the traditionally you're supposed to bring a present each but i provided them all everyone chooses a number from a hat number one gets their present they open it fine i have to show everyone number two gets theirs but if they want to steal they swap and so and so so forth so number 26 in this situation could choose anyone's present anyway everyone's standing up one by one and i know what the presents are and my brother-in-law future brother-in-law my sister's fiance picked up this present and i was like please don't open that it's like why why and i was like please don't anyway he opens it and it was a um vibrator oh i was like the last person but but like please tell me he swapped he's the worst

9:55Charlotte Collins:case he was like do you want to keep this i was like stop stop yeah he's so that was yeah that was my life on the weekend. I felt very puffy yesterday, but I feel a bit more human today. Jen, you've got a beauty product to recommend as well. Yes, there is a new extra firming range from Clarence and there's this specific extra firming energy day cream that is gorgeous. It's got this luminous satin texture. You tried it. I feel like you have. I've tried it a little bit and then I thought my mum was eyeing it up quite viciously. So I gave it to her. Lucky her. You're going to regret that. I know.

10:28I did actually keep the refillable pod for myself, but now I have no jar. yeah it's refillable which is amazing that's cool yeah the texture is like so it feels lightweight but really nourishing and rich at the same time nice

10:39Charlotte Collins:really nice we obviously have been working with Clarence over the last couple of months and my mum who is an avid Shealot's podcast listener heard the first one I think that we did together I was like guys it's the greatest foundation you'll ever put on your face listen Billy loves the foundation okay we're thrilled but I think I mentioned that there was a shower gel that I used to use from Clarence the energising one the energising one my mum listened to the podcast and then bought for me and honestly I don't know why I ever stopped gorgeous the smell is it's called like Eau de Nami Sainte or something and it's the one in the red yeah red it is my favourite shower gel ever like literally obsessed so thanks mum this morning I used the cream because as I said I was feeling a little bit ropy from the weekend and it gives an instant healthy glow you are glowing thanks so much it's just like radiating but without being greasy at all so it's really well under makeup love it as you said before so reliable yeah it's Clarins you can't go wrong before we move on Billy you've got a podcast to recommend so I feel like I'm new to the Hot Smart Rich I don't know it oh she's massive this girl called Maggie who hosts Hot Smart Rich actually just got acquired by Stephen Bartlett's flight studio it was like a seven bigger deal but she just kind of is very unapologetically Hot Smart and Rich it's kind of like culture and business and a sort of like wider lens on things that are happening in the business world but she does these sort of like quite gossipy episodes that are really good like recaps as to things going on because I wouldn't necessarily like plug into a you know like a footsie 500 whatever podcast but this is quite interesting to see where like moves are being made in that world love that okay moving on fashion finds um tell me what are you loving okay I have been influenced by Victoria McGrath which I am I'm influenced by her all the time but I got this Strathbury kite hobo bag which I actually have with me today and it's this kind of like triangular shape dark chocolate suede gorgeous I thought it was Gucci oh this one you had today it has like a hobo Gucci-ness to it and now they've launched a bag that I want even more because it's like a straight up straight down tote and it has the same fastening which is like really timeless as well the gold bar through the loop and I just think this is really serving me because it fits a laptop but I could fit more stuff in the tote bag.

13:02You could put the bag within the bag. And as someone who never travels light,

13:05Charlotte Collins:now I need the bigger bag version. What colour are you after? Dark choccy brown. Again. It has the choke card on me. Do you know, when we went to Edinburgh Christmas before last for our sheer luxe 48 hours in the city, we went to visit Strathbury and the offices. For those who don't know, they are a Scotland-based brand who are really, really well priced. Like, it's not cheap but compared to the price of designer bags is a really well priced so well made incredibly crafted yeah yeah and they're an amazing team and they are doing really really cool things so there was a tote that i fell in love with them which had like a gold bar kind of across the entire tote which was really cool it kind of folded over it yeah that's like quite that they're like quite iconic yeah it was really chic you also had some boots i've got lots oh keep going sorry um hush i've got some really good footwear in at the minute they have got these another suede thing but not chocolate brown this kind of like sandy suede square toed boots but not nearly as high as these incredibly high ones that I'm wearing but I feel like not like Kim's for videos but I feel like with a lighter denim in spring would look really really chic and they've got some great you've got to spray those though you've got to get the protectant on them that's where to shoot for sure I should probably spray everything I own because I've just dropped it up on it.

14:29They're great. And then they also have a kind of like, not a dupe, but you know the JW Anderson slipper shoe. Yeah. It's like a version of that. It's, I'd say, slightly more streamlined. I can't walk in a backless shoe, but plenty of other people can. I just end up shuffling. But I really like the look of them. Jen, what about you? What are you loving? I am also after a bag. And just like you were saying, I feel like it's quite mad now, but I'm like looking under a grand, which you think would give me loads of options and it really doesn't um and it's still a lot of money but I'm like willing to invest I keep looking at high street ones for like 50 quid and I just think they're just going to crack and fall apart and I've seen a really nice one uh Parenza Shuler I think it is um and it's again it's similar to yours that sort of almost like buckety shape it has some really nice details they have it in a lovely tan suede also a really great green not too similar to that green actually like a sort of foresty green color a little bit brighter it's really nice or celine um they're kind of classic is it called triomphe print they have a lovely like tote bag style which is about a grand and a half but i've seen it abyss more than once bista has celine abyss has really good really good bags you can get that kind of classic bags they're quite a lot and i think abyss it was like 850 quid or something it's

15:46Charlotte Collins:really quick it's like a little mini bucket almost yeah exactly yeah my fashion to recommend is an entire collection really, which is the Rotate Spring collection. Obviously at this point in the year, everybody starts asking us about evening wear, wedding guest dresses. And they have some really, again, I feel like we have to say this a lot these days, it's very expensive out there. And they have some really, really gorgeous event dresses from like 250 to 300 pounds, which again, if you're a bridesmaid or you need something special, they're quite black tie, but there's one in particular that's a really pretty pink sequin embellished kind of long column dress, which is gorgeous.

16:22Charlotte Collins:And also just some really lovely ready to wear. There's a blue shirt that's got this kind of applique, just slightly darker blue florals all over it, but like a really good boxy oversized man's shirt. I feel like they do really good shapes. They do. And like modern cuts. Yeah. I so agree. Is it Norwich? Not Norwich. Yeah, yeah, Scandi. Scandi brand, yeah. There's also a, speaking of good cuts, a kind of satin, it's like a play suit, but it looks like one of those funnel neck sporty jackets on top, but then it like drops down into shorts just some really cool pieces so that's where I will be tapping yeah yeah like I don't know about you guys but I'm like shit summer wardrobe it's gonna be here any minute

17:01Charlotte Collins:this section has the artful name celebrity who came up with that I love it it's been a big week for celebs it's only Tuesday I know but the new Chanel campaign is out I know oh that was fun it's really fun and joyful and I feel like Chanel is leading the way in like a fun joyful 2026 in terms of fashion and it's obviously it's not inclusive in lots of ways but it feels more for the people I think than like previous campaigns and those ones that are a bit you know the old I mean I don't want to tear apart specific brands but you know there were some that's sort of like wafting through air and it's often a fragrance app yeah it's just like trippy it's like if you watch that when you'd taken something you would freak out like the one where nicole kidman fills up a building right wait yeah the bad lemon one and even the lovely i love the kira knightley ones when she's like dancing to paris and stuff but this one feels just like you know obviously like margot's in her jeans and it with her sort of you know 10 grand handbag but it looks very casual and fun can you describe what happens for those who haven't seen it um so it's margot well apparently it's a sort of remake of a kylie video yeah from 25 years ago and margot bobby comes out of her building in Paris with her jeans and a kind of very casual kind of look with the with the shoes everyone's talking about on and Kylie's like leaning out a window singing which song is it it's a Kylie song I didn't know yeah Kylie Minogue yeah yeah not Kylie Jenner to be fair we did wonder why she was on the show Kylie Jenner's just leaning out the window and then Margot there's like multiple Margot's kind of prancing around and you know what it reminds me of you know um the in Beauty and the Beast where it's like there's this book with this yeah yeah it is a bit yeah I mean I could tell you exact words but I don't know okay but you knew the one I meant yeah but Chanel Belle but Chanel Belle with Kylie that's so funny I felt exactly the same when I watched it that it was very it was very Disney coded yeah yeah I think the thing is with Margot Robbie she's so as you said she's the most kind of attainable celebrity which is crazy right but she is but she's she's down to work yeah she goes to the pub yeah you know yeah like people like her she doesn't do the whole like I'm a celeb so that makes sense and also people are still going mad for his collections we're talking specifically about when Matthew Blasi's first collection became available about three weeks ago and the absolute frenzy I feel like it was the shoes and the ones with the mint green as well the square toe but it is really joyful and I think everyone's just really grateful to see some like color and fun and playfulness back in fashion.

19:43Charlotte Collins:Billie, Hannah Montana's 20th anniversary special. The premiere was last night and I just think, look, everybody is tapping back into nostalgia and it's really joyful because everything else feels so heavy and mean and dark and I just really am enjoying this like last in the past that's currently living in our present. I saw another thing where Lisa Kudrow on Instagram, she was talking about being really grateful for friends and she was like you know a lot of people are like oh you do not want to be recognized for that indie movie you did and she's like no i would have nothing without friends i'm so grateful for it and people love it and you know how could i just throw that away i think the same it's so nice to see my like leaning into hannah montana and she's not like oh god that was some naff thing i did so great because that's your core fandom is as and was that like to lisa's point you wouldn't get the opportunities you get now and i look i get it you can also be typecast and i think there's plenty of people who have said you know maybe jamie dawn and struggled in certain things and then belfast came along and changed that narrative or the harry potter cast will always be known as that but like that's also a joy and your bank account says yeah right for that yeah um miley i believe led the charge for this as well she was yeah she she decided to make it happen which i agree is really cool her outfit was like quite like mega hannah coded yeah she wore rabanne with a t-shirt there's so much nostalgia isn't there yeah there really is yeah i think you're an original fan because i think because i'm like what four or five years older than you i wasn't i think we're all too old for it like a year or two yeah i think i've never seen it and i really found the boy in the film he was so fit i was more the um olsen era like their films wait i feel like that did kind of bleed into that around the same time yeah do you not know the hoedown throwdown no oh gosh and rascal flats like plays a song in the film yeah anyway there was there's a boy in like a fan of shirt and blonde and rides a horse and he's for everyone was yeah like a year um i read that it was zillennials but miley was like for the zillennial crossover yeah so we're just like slightly but also stan um miley cyrus well yeah i yeah that that whole like um when she was sort of riding on a big tell you about era that was that was she's finding herself yeah i feel like she's found herself yeah i feel like she's really clear on who she is actually yeah yeah i love her love her speaking of country music my husband yesterday brought up on instagram he was like oh my god jen look at this because i love music and he was like it's a festival in london dolly parton luke combs chris ableton all these people sounds like and i was like no and i was like when it's their all tribute acts but i think he was so excited and he was about to press go and i was like it's true it was like this is too good to be true i think i think you know about this i think it's happening exactly no i was like i've never even heard of this venue it's like a weird little park somewhere it's like someone's black garden basically it's not even like rockwell park though i think it was anyway yeah you also had tom holland oh what tom holland why is he so adorable yeah yeah i love back flipping all over the place i just think he's so lush and lovely and he just wants to support zendaya in everything and i read this weekend i was very hormonal this weekend and it really made me sob but he was like as soon as she is pregnant i will like not take on a single job so i am by her side throughout the entire pregnancy and whatever she needs and if she wants me to go away i'll go away and she wants me to be there i'll be there but like i will like fundamentally not be working during that period because i want to be an active and present partner i want to know how like what lengths they had to go to to keep their wedding secret because so we do think they are married they are well they're both wearing wedding bands yeah so obviously um law roach announced at whatever award show he was at that they got married already and he was like ha ha you missed it to the press then obviously then there were loads of ai images that lead to the wedding do you think that was also they related to the movie do you think that was part of a maybe because she's got that movie the drama which is about getting married right she's in like her bridal era filmically maybe and the Spiderman trailer just dropped as well and the June 3 trailer she's having like a week right and but anyway she was like no you guys it's AI it's AI but they didn't deny that they got married just that the photos were AI and she's wearing a wedding band so unless you have like the world's most low key wedding with like 8 people I think they might have yeah like down in isn't he from Kingston or something like down in the Rocky and I do think as well like to the I know we all I know she's huge but I do think to the general UK public she's not as big as she is in America yeah I agree with that I agree with that and he's not like super recognised you know what I mean he's not sort of he could like put on a hat to get away with it walking around he's sort of 6 foot 5 and he's quite present he's kind of a bit of a short king this is true yeah this is true I think this is where it proves that if you have enough money you can hide anything you want to from the world yeah and when people are like I don't know how this got leaked I'm like Oh no.

24:41Do you leak thick? Yeah. That's hard. Celebrities literally choose whether their kids get shone or not. Yeah. 100%. If you wanted to hide something from the world,

24:49Charlotte Collins:you can. Before we move on, this is a little plea. It's actually more than a little plea. It's a very big plea to please subscribe. I've been told actually not to keep it so nice. So subscribe. Hey, you, if you're listening, subscribe. That feels really mean and aggressive. But anyway, we'd love it if you would.

25:07Charlotte Collins:We're going to talk about hot topics and I'm going to move on to this now because it's timely because billy you're i'm gonna i'm gonna read this verbatim hot topic turning 36 and being closer to 40 and making me want to vomit can you all just calm me down lol i just had a great 40th as we discussed um and i think also the comparison thing is what you need to avoid and that's easier said than done yeah but it's the closer to 40 and in my head i'm like well i'm still 28 so i don't know how this has happened yeah and of course we all know these things to be true that you shouldn't compare your life and everyone's on a different journey and everyone's doing their own thing and you can remind yourself of that but like there also is no denying that time now moves at a speed that feels difficult to reckon with because we're already mid-march well latter end of march is it is my birthday next week and my birthday's last day of march and it's it's just the speed i think i find overwhelming i also think you we when we kind of touched on this before we started recording you said oh Jen like it doesn't count because you know you're married you've got a house whatever and so there and there are those like you know typical benchmarks milestones to hit but I've started I turned 35 a couple weeks ago and I have those things tick tick to like on paper but I'm suddenly so aware of how long ago like that I'm not getting any of my youth back and that my 20s are gone and all of the things that um like I said Ben took a photo of me this weekend and he goes oh you look like a young girl I was like what a young girl he was like I'm only a baby oh like I'm so aware that all of those and and I can so understand why people end up living with regret and living with um yeah that kind of sense of should have done this or should have done that because you take everything so seriously in the moment but now I look back and I'm like why why did I care about anything my 20s and it's all over and I'm never going to get to have that again and that's giving me a lot of aging panic so i think like i hear that give yourself some slack that it's not only about comparison because i i get that but i think there's also a level of like the the stands of time yeah passing through your fingertips right and it feels like hard to grip onto anything yeah and i know that god i am so lucky and i have a wonderful life and i feel love in so many different ways but i think there's like fundamentals that some people might may or may not want in their life and one of mine is like a family and I'm like yeah and as a woman as well we're conditioned to think like basically 35 you start going downhill but yeah it's really useful I've I found around your age is when I started looking more closely at my fertility and I am currently childless by choice but I've done a lot of investigation into it tests those kind of things and I all being well with results and things but you speak to the doctors and first of all we as human beings are not built the same as we were you know 100 years ago like women were having babies at 15 back then and like more successfully um and so that's all changed the stats have all changed and also our facilities does not drop off a cliff of 35 no and even at 37 is when it starts to go down a little bit more incrementally but but by small amounts depending on if you're half full or half empty kind of person but that's that's really hard to get past I think when we've all been told I think what's tricky is there's like two narratives that coexist and that you should live in the present and be you know be grateful for everything you have day to day and just you know enjoy the small things but it's really difficult to not like look at the bigger picture if there's something you're aiming towards or you want to see happen in your life or come to fruition so there's this kind of push and pull and that feels really strong at this point in my life where my day-to-day is moving so quickly as is everybody else at this point in our careers or whatever that i get to it gets to the end of march and i'm like q1's done yeah how did that happen yeah it's so true i think it is such a female thing like you know when i put more pressure on ourselves and yeah yeah like we are also childless by choice but when i think of who of the two of us between my husband i have to spend more time thinking about you know there's gonna have to be a cutoff to this choice and when are we making that final decision it's definitely causing me a lot more sleepless nights than it is him because i mean technically he could just keep going and going forever and the impact of having kids would be so much less on him in his life unless you're tom holland who is gonna sit next to send aaron hold her hand for an entire pregnancy so um so i think it's there's so many layers on which it's more complicated for us as women yeah and as you say it's like i think one of the most annoying thing people can say is like be grateful for what you got because you are we know you are but equally there's you know as you say there's like conflicting voices about things like that yeah um I just found as well I I was feeling I feel very grateful for my life and very blessed or whatever but I also just couldn't believe I was turning 40 because I remember being 20 and thinking like the girls in the office Poppy once said oh my mum gets jealous because I call you my office mum and I was like oh I know that's meant to be nice but now I feel like shit because it's just like I don't you know I don't mind being 40 but i just can't believe yeah i'm 40 yeah i just can't believe it yeah where's the time gone it's so hard to reckon with in my head my 21st birthday was max five years ago yeah because i can remember all of it so yeah i can't tell you what i had for lunch yesterday but yeah i can tell you that and it just like snap on your fingers yeah or when you when you have to do something online and you have to scroll back through the years oh my god when you have to find your birthday yeah yeah i know i feel like the biggest lesson that we can take is like what i just said about my 20s and how or our 20s and how yeah i really like how you're afraid but i feel like we need to then apply that to our 30s and 40s like okay well if if if the kind of theme is that everyone always looks back and thinks well it wasn't that deep why did i care so much or like the time is now yeah try and apply that to the everyday but also what you said about not trying to claw that time back because i think for the first few years of my 30s i definitely was like trying to um covid obviously had an impact on that for everybody at different points in their lives but i was still trying to be 20s bidding and i hadn't really like acknowledged that i wasn't that person anymore and that chapter not had closed but like had finished its circle yeah and i think that is really sage advice that actually has calmed both of you that has calmed I also really recommend and I know you do do this but finding friends who are older than you and getting those role models who can show you that it doesn't all just fall off a kid and younger than you as well and younger than you because they keep you young but I just mean in terms of not find your office daughter exactly but I think we all have such good role models here people who are in their mid 40s and show you that it's not a different life goes on and they're still living their best lives

32:12Charlotte Collins:let's finish on some listener dilemmas somebody says is it bad that i dread certain social plans even when they're with people that i like yes yes yes i love nothing more than if someone so no it's not bad so you're both saying no no it's not bad no it's not bad that's normal do you think yeah i don't dread plans when i like the people depends what the plans are though or like some days you're just feeling yeah you can't some days i just feel like i'm not going to bring much to the evening and i think like am i actually just going to bring them down if i'm not on form okay or if the plan is like pilates and i don't want to go yeah obviously it's like a shit plan yeah if it's paddle obviously i'm there but i also think sometimes if you're in a if you're in a friendship group and you just the way that you socialize is only in a group setting you lose the connection of the one-to-one and sometimes I can maybe dreads too steep of a word but I can feel like I'm a bit exhausted of the group setting situation and I want the one-on-one time so it's not that I dread the people it's more that I just dread the environment of like not actually really having quality time yeah I get that what's the best way to post your new partner soft launch or hard launch soft launch, tease it out like drip feed them yeah that's quite fun yeah or like group but kind of the opposite about group settings first maybe oh i thought this meant on social no that's what i mean but it might be like a social group setting on instagram yeah and then i think it's a bit cringe to hard lord i'm just gonna say here's my boyfriend no one can i suppose how far in you are as well because i'm like what if it goes wrong yeah yeah post like a little elbow yeah an elbow yeah like a cheeky hand on your leg yeah or like dinner and there's yeah or i think a little like photo booth moment's quite cute yeah but maybe stories not main grid we are like the least qualified people to be answering this question social media are you listening to us being like it was like what on facebook i'd carry a pigeon in my day i'd like send a quill to my family we were like in a relationship on facebook um all right thank you both ever so much uh if you don't subscribe already this is like an aggressive call to action for the end of the podcast but if you don't subscribe already and you've enjoyed what you've listened to and you want more girly sheerlucks chat on a regular weekly basis then please do subscribe thank you so much for listening and for watching you
