In short
Sheerlux Podcast episode with Rochelle Humes discussing marriage (her 20-year anniversary), motherhood, fitness/food routines, skincare launch Eula, and fashion/beauty favorites; also covers a Sheerlux x Two Autumn Winter “Front Row Experience” at London Fashion Week and reader-style clips.
Guests
Georgie Corrish-Cole (founder/CEO of Sheerlux) and Toby (Show Notes contributor). Main guest: Rochelle Humes, British TV presenter and singer, wife of Marvin Humes; mother of children (including eldest Coco). She’s launching skincare brand Eula.
Key claims
Long marriages rely on laughter, open communication (including good news), and giving each other space to grow. Rochelle says she’s “winging it” like everyone else. She argues weight training builds confidence, and matcha (not coffee) avoids jitters. She says Eula skincare is simplified “barrier-first” with no “actives,” priced £8–£12.
Notable examples
Gemma Collins as a reality-TV “North Star”; Skims party at Regent Street; Kim Kardashian dinner (~40–50 guests); Two.co.uk Sheerlux Edit; Rochelle’s reset heart ring from Marvin; Number 98 hair mask used all day (even sleeping in it); weight training + Pilates via Bryony Blake app and Kira studio.

0:13Tobi Asare:I like that one. It's almost like an elevated dry robe. I can't get on board with that. Your face. Sorry, I'm out already. I was like, oh, a hot topic today is marriage. Look, I saw wheels set up. I'm like, right.
0:36Tobi Asare:so we are coming off the back of an amazing weekend how good was r2 activation for london fashion week honestly that was such a pinching moment for all of us and to see our readers but also the product like i'd obviously seen bits and bobs and we've done the edit on their site but to see it all in real life i'm so impressed of the quality the sort of trend led take they had and it was great outerwear great knitwear like amazing kind of shoes did you see that like wedge boot situation i saw those on nana when she she was going through the product that they were shooting for the campaign assets for the front row experience that we did on saturday and i was like where are those from and she said too there was so much i feel like between all of us i was there all day and i got to see every member of the sherlock scheme arriving in product and every time I said is that too Emma wore the amazing butter yellow leather long trenchy jacket Georgie found that really cool plaid shirt um Florence wore that really great cream chunky knit you wore a great black leather jacket black leather and I also love the red zip up kind of tech jacket of course you do yeah um but also like there were so many things were there with lots of our readers throughout the day and it was nice to see lots of people of different kind of styles and ages going for similar products and kind of talking about how they style it 100 % It's just so nice to see how far the brand has come.
1:53Tobi Asare:So true. Part of the front row experience was that our readers could come along and start in their very own version of the Sheerlacks podcast. I can't believe this set is back. I know. Because it spent the day in the alternate on Saturday with us. I just loved listening back to all of the clips of our readers talking about their personal style, the inspiration they were taking from two this season, and also we got to appear in a couple of them too. We did, and everyone was really natural broadcasters. I was really impressed watching all of them. I did one with one girl, and I was like, do you want a job?
2:19Tobi Asare:You're great. What is it? All in all, a great day and our biggest takeaway was what an incredible trend-led but considered collection Two's Autumn Winter Collection is. Agreed. If you want to take a look for yourself at everything that we talked about, then go to two.co.uk where you can also shop the Sheerlux Edit, which is our curated selection of the very best products from the Two Autumn Winter Collection. Hello and welcome to the Sheerlux Podcast. I'm Georgie Corrish-Cole, the founder and CEO of Sheerlux. And I'm joined today by, I was wondering what to call you, Plus Roster, Show Notes contributor, friend of SL.
2:54Everything. Toby, sorry. Hi. Good to be here. And the wonderful Rochelle Hughes. Welcome, welcome. Thanks for having me. I'm very excited to be here, guys. Well, we are very excited to have you. You just think it's quite nice to be in the guest chair. So nice to be in the seat. I've not got all the cards and all the things and all the things. I'm just here for a chat. Well, the last time I saw you was on your podcast. Your own podcast, yeah. And I just had the most amazing feedback from it. So thank you for having me. No, thank you. We got, everybody loved you. I mean, what don't we know? But everybody loved you.
3:24It was great. It was really one of my favourites. I loved it so much. And it's lovely to see you. And thank you for being here because, I mean, you're here with an army of people. I know. There's a lot of us today. I'm going to be honest. It's not normally like this. I quite like it though. I feel like a diva. Well, I mean, you're behaving like one. I've never seen such an old garage. Walking to a office on a moment. I might get a rider now. It's fabulous. Should I get a rider? and demand like you've got drapes so fantastic is that it is it drapes matcha well there's drapes everywhere here so let's go with drapes for now this is brilliant how are you i feel like you've just had a very busy weekend yes do you know what busy i think it's i'm on sort of the sort of treadmill going to everything doing everything obviously i'm launching new brand which is very exciting so eula's about to drop and i just it's it's a busy season it's all good so it's back to school isn't it everything everything's back and I enjoyed the summer I you know summer maxing as everyone was calling I maxed and then I was on the flight home thinking oh I like that yeah I did a bit too well because I had that flight home where I'm like should I turn the emails on should I leave it a minute and yeah since I've been back it's been I feel like summer is well and truly gone but I haven't done a podcast for a while so if I was to ask you for the highlight of your summer what would you say it is now I'm going to put you on the spot I would say mine would be Nantucket I'm just going to answer the question and give you a minute to think but I'm going to Nantucket which I just thought was the most brilliant people watching ever highly recommend New England we've all got children we took the children to watch an England World Cup game in Miami amazing and I mean this was like a trip of a lifetime and I think well they'll remember it forever so yeah I loved it that looked absolute heaven you've also got the most beautiful children it was just like you took them to a I sound like a real stalker here you took them to a concert as well recently what did you go and see?
5:12yeah we went to see Olivia Dean that's it and yeah we're all obsessed with Olivia Dean I quite like it that I've managed to listen to great music in the car and now my children are a fan of good music isn't it so wonderful it's quite self-indulgent because I'm like should we go and watch this concert kids and they're so into it because but it's such a special it's such a great thing I took Coco my eldest to Olivia Dean actually and Harry Styles she's done really well I'm basically using her to go and see like what's else I'm too old to like. So you should. And don't you think for young girls to have Olivia Dean, what a lovely role model she is.
5:44I feel like she's just real wholesome. She's great music. She's gorgeous. Toby, highlight the summer.
5:50Tobi Asare:Oh my God, you've really put me on the spot. I'm going to say Lisbon and that sounds so silly because if any of my friends are watching, they'll be like, Toby, you've been about 12 times in the last two years, which is very true. But I just, it's like my home away from home. It wasn't like our core summer holiday. It was like our, let's kind of go back to Lisbon. With the children. yeah with the kids we even have like a nanny that we use out there so we saw her and it's like every day we just go for like ice cream it's really chill you've got city you've got beach sometimes that's what holiday is like i like what i like you know yeah i was watching something on instagram last night you know when you get served reels and you're i was lying on my bed feeling bit tired my husband was in the study and i was watching reels i was absolutely pissing myself laughing or just laughing over there do you ever do that like i have they're like oh god there goes mom again she's absolutely lost it and there's this couple and the man goes i bloody hate holidays that's so brilliant i watched it chris ramsey and rosie ramsey and she was talking about how he moans the whole way to the yes at the airport and he takes the traveling and oh i love that clip i saw that but why does he hate holiday because what she's saying is that she he moans from the minute, like, you know, like normally you'll get up on the flights early and she's like, you moan from the minute you get here, that you moan the whole time until you get on holiday and then you're on the lounge and then you're like, okay, I'm good now.
7:09And he was like, sorry, am I supposed to enjoy the little bus from the airport to the plane from the terminal? Am I supposed to be going, this is great. This is brilliant. He's not doing it right. That's why. But he had a point. He's like, that bit is shit. This bit isn't fun. I get to the lounge and I've got my first beer and I go huh I'm like do you know what he's right also was it worth it I mean can you enjoy a beer somewhere else I would say you get to the lounger and then you're like how many hours till lunch how much am I sure gonna fight between now so I think he's got a point anyway how was the skims party did she actually shut physically shut Regent Street honestly it was kind of I've never I've never seen that actually and it just shows you the kind of well we know the level of her fame and her series that it creates but yeah all the roads around it like you know in that sort of square were closed off and she had like sort of barriers and there were fans that had come behind and obviously lots of paparazzi there was lots of flashes lots and
8:06Tobi Asare:lots of flashes she looked so peaceful i don't know if that she's just probably just so used to it she's very composed i got that i really got that vibe from her and i met her and i went to the dinner afterwards and she was so lovely and super who was it how many people were at the dinner I think about 40. Oh my God, you're such a big deal. Maybe like 50. That's cool. But it was lovely. It was really, really nice. And you weren't allowed to take pictures in there. I was like, my eldest was like, what's Kim Kardashian like and asking me questions? But I'd met her a long time ago. And she said, I think this is such a class act.
8:44And she's like, nice to see you. And someone had even really briefed her. I don't imagine for a second she would remember. But she was really lovely and friendly and really professional. Nice to see you.
8:55Tobi Asare:I think the stores always look amazing. Oh my gosh. Aesthetically, wow. Do you wear skims? I love skims. I do. Yeah, I wear skims every day. And that's not like. Their PJs are like really comfy. Also the bra. Do you know what? I found they're really good for my eldest daughter who's 13. So it's the age where you want them to have nice. But there's no underwire. You know, they do the really nice, like comfy, good. In my day, it was soggy. And the workout gear as well. The Nike and skims for me. I was really pleasantly surprised. I'm quite picky with my workout gear because it's got to hold everything together.
9:23And it's really good. And you like what you're used to
9:26Tobi Asare:when it comes to workout gear. Is that what you wear, Skims Nike? I wear Skims Nike, a bit of Ludi Lemon. I wear a bit of every, like a little bit of every kind of brand, but there are some brands I would be like, no, no, no. Have you ever done a partnership on sportswear? I haven't. Oh, you should. Yeah, actually. I haven't. Do you know, Toby is like the, I mean, the most badass trainer. I can tell by the arms. I was saying before we came on, was I not? I was saying that I got off the machine this morning in the gym and I went on to Instagram and I saw Tavia in the gym and I was like, get your ass back on that.
9:55Get your electrical trainer because you've got Tavia on the podcast this morning. There you go. I do. I do love a good workout.
10:01Tobi Asare:But yeah, workout gear, I haven't actually done anything to do with workout gear. You do too. I know. It'd be so easy for you. I know. Yeah. I know. I just think I've got two high rocks coming up this year, which is not very smart. But I was thinking like, what am I going to feel comfortable in when I'm doing that high That's a good point. Yeah. That's the next thing that's kind of like on my mind when it comes to workout. quick side note we were doing a mic test before we started and it was what did you have breakfast this morning i had one of those protein yogurts have you ever used that app that tells you whether yeah we were just talking about it i'm just a fan of the app i'm not either because it's telling me all the things i like and not good for me but also i've known because i've seen it in product and obviously i work in product it doesn't it doesn't give you any context of ingredients so if it doesn't particularly like an ingredient we use an ingredient called phenoxyaphanal which is a preservative and it goes into the you know into the product to make sure that no bacteria or mold will grow in that product but obviously they don't tell you the amount so obviously your matcha so no this is in my children's brand so obviously if it was a bottle of phenoxyaphanil you wouldn't recommend using that right nobody would but it's i think the percentage is like 0.1 percent but they don't give you any contact right right context of it so they will flag an ingredient as not being but they're not prorating but they're not actually so they don't actually know what the inky is so and then they'll say and i've seen it with lots of products so i think you know who speaks about them all the time is carolyn hyron she hates it and she's very like publicly but now because i know that i now don't trust it for anything because it just goes no no and it's a little bit sort of scaremongering when there's no context behind it icelandic protein yogurt and i think you for that to exist on a shelf and to have got the claims it does there's you know there's no sort of it's not internal it's not red bull they don't ask you for id when you buy it yeah enjoy your yoga girl if you like that breakfast you think it's like everything's got something in it right what do you eat what did you eat this morning after you woke up this morning i had a protein shake um i just had i use form nutrition which is like yeah only one i like only one i can stomach yeah love it although yesterday my son and my husband were doing jiu-jitsu in our bedroom and my husband brought up his protein shake and i was like why are you doing that in the first place my daughter shook it and i said don't shake it she went again and shook it all over our lovely bedroom carpet my my husband did that with the blueberry smoothie in covid we just finished our house like you were just talking about your house project fresh blueberry smoothie ran to kitchen knocked it i swear to you it was like perfection it was so bad see me it's normally match it's just green everywhere i remember thinking this is so bad i need to take a photo of this but if I take a photo he will think this is not as serious as it is and he just left the house he's like there's no value I was like are you actually fucking joking he's actually gone out literally crime scene honestly he's like see you later see you later actually in hindsight it was probably the most simple thing because I might have killed him yeah so protein with what's it called full nutrition it's amazing really good amazing and what did you have breakfast I am on my second match of the day and I haven't yet because we would I my call time was so early and I'm not a breakfast person I'm not so I have to wait till about 11 10 11 now people talk about intermittent fasting and I do that but not subconscious because I can't stomach anything in the morning apart from my matcha which I know is not the advice I give my kids because I know it's the most important day but just never ever sat right with me um but then after that I'm like oh go go go so as soon as I leave here I need to grab and I don't know what I'm gonna glass What do you have?
13:31I don't know what I fancy.
13:33Tobi Asare:I'm normally all in at breakfast. Are you? My husband is, and he will love it when we go away. And he's like, come on, let's see the breakfast. I'm like, get me to the breakfast. Mine is like that too. But I actually would like lunch, especially if I go away with children. Like in the old days, we'd have a really late breakfast. Might have a snack in the day and then a big dinner. But with children, I'm like, it's a really long day if you don't have lunch. Oh, I can't. I cannot. It's like years of time. It's so true, yeah. If I just get to lunch, I'll be all right. Yeah. I can't parent on an empty stomach.
14:00Tobi Asare:It's just impossible. I just find myself getting so short. So I always have to eat like before they're just about to come home or something like, it's probably the right thing. I mean, by now I would have normally eaten a bit because I've just had one of those mornings where we've been busy, but yeah, it's for me, I can't, I skip that and head straight to brunch is perfect for me. I want to meet me for brunch. Great. Don't ever suggest breakfast. I'll be there. yeah, going out for breakfast. No, thanks. Quick question. Do you work out? I feel like I've got so much to talk about. Do you eat before you work out?
14:26Tobi Asare:No, never. If, well, I never strong. No, I might have like a quarter of a date if I'm doing like a long run. That's the point. Just a quarter. You're like my friend's husband. It's one day, Tom, if you're listening. Every night I've just the one. Especially if I'm doing burpees. I don't want to force. I don't want to force. No, no, no. That's always my thing. I'm like, and even then I'll have like a nice, I've like a lemon tea or something before I get up and then I work out. Then I'll have a matcha. And then I'm. Lemon tea. Or like, you know, lemon hot water. But when I wake up, always. Do you not?
14:55Oh, no. No, that's my like. I look forward to that. What is the point of a levy scene? It's actually really good. That's how I feel about the quarter of a day.
15:06We are going to talk about things we're loving. So this is our roundup of everything we've been enjoying and that's caught our eye. Nice. Lately, mine's Theo James. I did have to have a look. Is he sitting there now? I saw that someone's found a clip. Or is it AI? I sent it to Lou last night. I was like, you are welcome. Here you go. I sent it to my sister. She loves him. And I was like, he can see. He's very attractive. Have you seen The Gentleman's 3?
15:28Tobi Asare:No I mean It should come with a warning He is so He's like I thought we were going fashion So I love you I've got a fashion one too That's fine I'm not judging Let's Theo the James out It's outrageous Gentleman 2 is so good I've not seen it yet And like so beautifully shot And the women The style is amazing And the script is really funny And And Theo James is in it So there's you Yeah So that's the reason So he's my thing we love I love my other thing though is two clothing so this bit is not an ad but we have partnered with them to promote two clothing we did I have to say I am so proud took over the Outer Net of my team for what they pulled off on Saturday amazing we took over the Outer Net oh wow and hosted the public doing their own podcasts amazing and lots of shoppable content and rails and I can't really do it justice is also with my business hat on I looked at the whole campaign from start to finish and I was like that is a media campaign award winner for me anyway I always tell you this stuff I always tell you this stuff but if you look at how the campaign integrates from start to finish we're just doing stuff in a way that know a publisher and a brand oh you're making me cry honestly sorry it is honestly I can't explain how hard they've worked like it has just been I just feel like a proud parent actually and I wasn't able to go because my cousin got married on Saturday and then because of timings I suddenly could squeeze it in before we drove to Dorset and I literally hot-footed it at 8pm, true story, on Friday night to 2 at Sainsbury's.
17:06Anyway, I'm wearing one of their shirts now. That's fabulous. And I bought like four things. I then went to our event on Saturday and ordered a load more stuff online having seen it. It's really good. So cool. Oh, you're styling it well. I love that shirt. I love this shirt. The white bodies. Anyway, we're bang on about it but I'm like genuinely, you know, so often you can get behind something and it's really cool but when it's actually really good. And I will just say that the Salon Jeep loafers, you know the loafers? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hinched. And they're probably the shoe I've been asked about the most in the last year.
17:37What colour do they come in? They've got, well, they've got plain black and then they've got a burgundy like crop. Yeah, that's very me. So comfy.
17:45Tobi Asare:I'm not a black person but a bit of colour. It goes into winter. Burgundy just every year, doesn't it? Every year. And so comfy. So those are mine. Rochelle you've got a few things I'd like to cover them all off prompt me then I'm going to prompt you I'm going to save the best for last okay so number one is a number 98 hair mask it's so good really so I did it at the weekend also I bearing in mind I have to have my hair styled a lot for work and I have tried things I'm like I should be one of those girlies that gets on board a little bit more with wearing a wig to protect my hair I can't do it but it just doesn't work for me and I've given it a go and it doesn't work for me anyway I so this is all you no I've got a couple of rows of extensions in, but you know, my hair's out.
18:27Yes, my hair's out here. But because I have it dried and then when I'm off, I'll just have it natural and it will be curly. But at the end of the week, my Sunday thing is I cook a roast dinner and I put a good hair mask in and I'll be like that all day until I go again on Monday. Do you cook the roast in the hair mask? Yeah, absolutely. And then wash it out Sunday evening. It's a good feeling. So literally from the morning until... So how long do you leave the hair mask in for? All day. I sleep in it if I need to. And I've always been a big fan of Philip Kingsley Elasticiser. yes so good it's a really really good one do you both love that i really really really like that isn't it it's just time yeah because you need i need my hair routine to be quick and it's long enough because i love it too and we've got such different hair yeah so that i think it's just genuinely it's really really good but but i'll always sleep in a hair mask i'll always make sure i'm like committing and giving it that bit of time so do you put something over it uh no well i put like i'll sleep in a little bonnet or i like like put a little towel on my pillow and just like I don't even care if my neck's stiff.
19:21I just need to look after my hair. But the number 98 is so incredible and it smells gorgeous. I can only sort of liken it to that sort of texture. That's why I brought up Philip Kingsley because I've loved that for so long. But it's the same kind of texture. And could I use it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's honestly incredible. And they've got a really nice shampoo and conditioner to follow. Okay. That is not an ad. I just genuinely love it. Right. The next one I feel like is dangerous because I think the three of us here, could probably talk for a day on weight training so you've got kira coming back yes i'm also very into my weight training now bloody love it and you know old superwoman over here yeah i mean i don't mind getting the gym with you i'm fairly fresh into this i love mixing weight training with pilates that's become my thing i found is really really good for me i think that's that is as you get older as well you're significantly younger than me but i think that is really the sort of i just think yeah alternating it and i and i feel better in myself so i do um pilates by bryany app which i have at home which is one of my good friends and on it and i'm not just saying because she's one of my great friends she's just actually redone the app really recently i think she has exactly and um it's incredible and now it's sort of got it's way more sophisticated than it was and it's like you can milk i just think she's a great businesswoman as well just to scale
20:38Tobi Asare:pilates in that way yeah she's great and also there's you know now which is i mean great for the industry there's lots of blotting instructors there's lots of apps there's kind of but hers she's really been about this one of the ages yeah and i love her app i find it really easy and she was my trainer before i used the app so i kind of it's actually yeah yeah that's how we first met so i do that and then i do um kira and i go to her studio and i go with one of my good you know melissa's wardrobe yeah mel's one of my good friends and every tuesday that's our morning together oh i love you do that i actually work out with a friend as well so we have like a little founder ran a little kid ran a little husband ran god you should be working out together she's chic to the gym by the way i can imagine that birkin to the gym and i'm like are you on is it just the two of you just the two of us so we do it but she does say it's a lifestyle it is literally a lifestyle she's putting her money where her mouth is it's just great i just see this gym bag and then it's got like loads of stuff spilling out of it but it's a birkin it's just brilliant true to form but yeah it's for me the balance of the two i like to do the plus in my own time and i like to be in the like in it when i do the strength training i just feel like every woman needs to weight train and the thing is i don't want anyone to feel like it's this thing that you can't do it's like the easiest thing that you can feel so much confidence in doing it will just change your life i know that's the thing that intimidates a lot of women about gym the idea of like having to lift or how that looks and i think you know chrissy chell has done an amazing job with really trying to sort of give women confidence in like tackling that in the gym so yeah i i love it and i wish i'd known a long time ago that it isn't like a man's thing or a really intimidating atmosphere you know there's something cool about discovering it when you're growing up and being able to commit to it and invest in it and compete with your husband mine joins my training sometimes oh my god he huffs and puffs and makes a real freaking song and dance.
22:34I mean, my children are like, how come you're so much stronger than daddy? I mean, I'm not going to have the edge for long. Let daddy hear you. Love that. He's now, he's got the bug too, so I'm not going to have the edge for long, but I've been quite enjoying it for now. I'm going to skip matcha and croissants at Astrid Bakery, except Astrid Bakery. Do you love it? Oh yeah, yeah, I love it. It's great. And I'm giving it air time. Yes, but no, I do. I love a good matcha and a good croissant is like the weight of my heart. She knew where
23:00Tobi Asare:does a matcha that's surprisingly really good koi bird in marlabone oh i've never tried yes oh my gosh they've got this new kind of wellness bar which has like little drink mixes and it's got matcha it's got coconut milk i think it's got a little bit of like honey and some salt i'm not usually about mixing my matcha with things a sea salt vanilla matcha wow is because i'm i'm quite a purist when it comes to matcha i don't like all these blueberry i'm like i if i want matcha tastes like matcha i love matcha i don't want it to be this like we're going to make it taste like a milkshake i love it but a sea salt vanilla is incredible how many matches do you drink a day four four three or four you drink coffee no just matcha i've never had i don't it gives me the jitters i don't matcha doesn't yeah it's got elfinine in so it levels that's the elfinine and caffeine just makes you go like this so it sort of comes in slower lingers longer leaves slower into your system so for me i really get that's the spikes and the crashes with coffee and I'm just not, like, you don't want to know me on Coffee.
23:59It's not cute. I'm like, okay, all this energy. Okay, the last thing on your things that we love is, well, not specifically her new series, but it's Gemma Collins that I'm keen to talk about. I love her. I bloody, she's a national special. I bloody love her. Why do people not talk about how great she is? I love her so much. I love her. The sound bites she would give, like, if I was a casting director of any reality TV show, there's one person that is on my, like, my North Star, would be Gemma Collins. Has she done Celebrity Haunted yet? Well, she wants to. Get her in. Get her on the show. My best Gemma Collins line is the air fryer line.
24:38I'm close to find me. I like that one. Mine is, you got an air fryer? Get rid of it. She's brilliant. Get rid of it. But her documentary, because I like love her in meme and everything. Her documentary, I put it on almost by an accident, you know, when you're seeing like what you're going to watch tonight. And it's really honest. It's like warts and all, really, it's quite brave the way she's opened up her life and she had a lot going on and yeah, I really liked it it sort of changed my, not opinion of her because like I said, I'm a big Gemma Collins fan but I just, yeah it was nice to see her in that different light.
25:10There's a line when she's in Big Brother, this is obviously years ago and she says to another contestant, she goes let's just get our things and go babe. She goes, could make it back in three months let's just get our things and go. Anyway they walk out of the Big Brother house, smoking like this and then about 30 seconds later they come back in and whatever work is too much I will say to my FPM I just tell things and go baby I'm like we'll make it back we'll make it back that series was just great with her I remember they surprised her and someone came in to give her a blow dry but he was like really struggling because she wasn't happy with it he was doing it with straightener she was like what weird blow dry blow dry my hair it's a blow dry she's too good i think her and alison hammond if i was stuck on a desert island oh my god that's who we that's who you have to take with you yeah imagine you just have a great time um things we love okay i'm fascinated by celine's employees and how they dress for work pray tell i nearly looked this up before we came on you should have done you're gonna need to i'm like
26:16Tobi Asare:totally obsessed with subsac it's like my new kind of scroll thing because from there i can get like business updates i can get really interesting things about people's lives really interesting people i came across this thing where this lady had sat outside the celine hq in paris right and she was just watching the employees kind of flitter in and flitter out and kind of documented what what they were wearing and all the different trends so like trend number one for example was like a gray mile sweatshirt but how the celine employees had dressed up and then looking at like denim on denim and effectively how they made it very celine-esque it's all very chic or very like where is this content i'd like to do this this is on sub stack grey mile sweater do I now need yeah and how have they styled it you need to do that here I know you need to do a subsec of all of you guys I know I'll write it there you go I like that there's another one that I thought you guys might like it was Catherine Omorant who's a brilliant writer and she writes a piece about her husband being an entrepreneur being married to an entrepreneur I'm also married I sent it to my husband he's like what are you trying to tell me this is you I literally felt like okay right I probably understand him a little bit better and there's a part of this article which I really loved and he was registering for VAT with his accountant when he opened up one of his businesses and was like right we're registering for VAT straight away because this is going to be a multi-pound like million business and I just love that visionary kind of aspect of kind of go getter well he's achieved it done really well he's got a phenomenally successful branding business as well as yes the restaurant I love to hear those stories they're my favourite so it's a really good sub stack okay so you've got to send me a couple of sub stacks now definitely I've got a list can we have your edit a sub stack how many of your sub stacks are you paying for oh that's a good question A few friends.
27:52Tobi Asare:I think I've probably got, and Catherine, maybe about four or five that I'm paying for. But you don't have to pay for loads. You can get a good, hence the Celine article, you can get a good kind of variety of different insights. I'm not paying, but it's good to support writers. FX's American Horror Story returns for an unrivaled 13th installment. With the iconic horrors you love to fear and an all-star cast reprising fan favorite roles. Light your candles, draw your pentagrams and prepare for a supreme surprise. FX's American Horror Story 13. Now streaming on Hulu. No, I totally agree.
28:41Following on from the Celine Twitcher. Yes. Who needs an Instagram for us on Southside. Let's talk about shopping. Can I start just quickly? I feel like everything's quickly because there's so much to say to you. Can we start with what are you wearing today? I'm wearing, well, this little butter yellow, obviously, because I'm obsessed. Co-ordered from Arrange. No way! I'm also obsessed with the branding of Eula. Can you just pull the bag out? We're going to come on to skincare, but I love it so much. I am butter yellow obsessed, hence. Also, how cute are my team, by the way? Our bags weren't ready for this interview today.
29:18And over the weekend, design in my team made carry bags so I could bring them too nicely. I know, I can't. I'm obsessed with them. Perfect. Cool, that product is really cool. Anyway, I love your outfit. I love that Lauren as well is also on brand. The girl is new. And where are your shoes from? Alaya. Very nice.

29:36Tobi Asare:Oh, they did have them in the turquoise blue this summer. So nice. They're so good. I mean, I've worn these. Really good, really good. Also, your heart ring, that one. This is really cool. This was, Marvin proposed me of the heart ring, but it was set really like, it had like, you know, like a halo thing around it and quite like, well, this was 15 years ago. And you didn't want the heart ring. And he got me this for my 30th and then I had it reset because I felt really weird not, he wanted to get me a new ring and I feel, I'm really sentimental with stuff. So I had it reset so I can wear it all the time.
30:08That's really, it's really lovely. Yeah, thank you. I love it. It's really lovely. Yeah, really nice. Toby, what are you wearing to?
30:14Tobi Asare:What am I wearing? I'm wearing a skirt from Frankie Shops. Thank you. which I love it because I've got a bodysuit underneath you know like a bodysuit going to Lou is a bit faffy right but this has got a zip so I can zip from this end and I can go to the Lou I'm also wearing a pencil skirt an Iraqi pencil skirt and I went to Lou before we came in here and I was like this is a pain yeah but now I can go for it I also love that in my mind I would think that's an evening skirt but it looks so good in the day yeah I just love it I've never actually worn it in the evening I want it to work I love that colour with petal blue as well it's so nice and I've got like a matching manicure by accident.
30:49Tobi Asare:Yeah. And also if you spill something down yourself in that it's really good. Yeah. Wonderful. Love it. And your shoes? My shoes are? Rupert Sanderson. Rupert Sanderson. Thank you. Rupert Sanderson. That pebble. Can you flash it up? Oh can I flash it up? Oh yeah gorgeous. That pebble does not get enough love. No. Rupert Sanderson. The store at Vista by the way is really really good. I've got another pair as well. All Vista. I like that a lot. Well I'm wearing two Iraqi and very old. Do you want me to Ross? Oh so good. The best point, Jeremy T. Rossi, the best points. Yeah, they are, and quite comfortable.
31:20Nice amount of the toe cleavage and comfort, don't you think? Just right, just right. Okay, so shopping is what we were going to talk about. Can you give me something you've bought recently to inspire our viewers? I have bought, yeah, I'm preparing for the seasons to change, and I bought, I think two years ago I bought the cape boots, you know, the little ankle boots with the low heel that have got a really nice sort of shaped toe. So I bought like a little updated version of those because when I've worn them, the leather's sort of, you know, I clearly don't walk very dainty. But you love them.
31:53I love them and I've just gone again because I'm like, I know that they work for me. And I think they've changed them ever so slightly. I'm sure. I love Kate. Yes, such a good brand. So how great did Bryony look in New York? Oh my goodness me, didn't she just, didn't she? Also the Kate black stilettos, have you seen those? I haven't seen those. They're always like folded in or rolled in. I've just bought new stilettos. and then I saw the Kate ones I was like do you know when you I know for a fact that obviously they're not like you know they're a spenny they're an investment but cost per wear I know how much I've got my use out of them so I'm like we go again we go again we're still beating that cost per wear drama that's what I say to Marv I'm like buy cheap buy twice oh my gosh that's my favourite phrase which I often use back one thing you bought recently
32:38Tobi Asare:oh so one thing I can't wait to wear is this it's almost like an elevated dry robe I do not like I can't get on board with that. You're being sorry. Really? I'm in slow-mo. I really hate the car. What, the dry robe? You just went, you went, you went dry and you went. I was like, oh. Listen, I would not be wearing it if it wasn't like, she's a nice. The question is, where are you wearing that dry? Because I saw someone in Battersea standing on the side of the road and she was wearing Crocs and a dry robe. We have to get a picture of it just to see, because trust me, I promise you, I would not be wearing it if it was funny.
33:14Tobi Asare:I believe you when you say that. I would not be wearing it. It's by this new brand. Sorry. My face has no filter. No, no, I do too. This new brand called Art of. And the whole concept is, you know who you are kind of when you go to work. But when you're kind of in those in-between moments, how do you still look chic? Right. So it's a bit of tartan, but really nice tartan. Some beautiful shearling in the hood. And you can layer it over a lovely fleece. And I can wear it to kind of watch my son play rugby. Right, okay. Well, this is always the thing. The school mom's sport thing. Like, I play hockey.
33:42And I'm like, what do I wear? It's exactly that. It's hard.
33:44Tobi Asare:This brand will solve all of those problems. Do you know, annoyingly, I think I'm going to agree with you. I've not seen it. I have zero tolerance for dry robes. I can't. I've got a video on my phone. Camo, pink lining. Also, just burn it. I think it's the way that people are wearing them. Where are you going? This is just a normal day and you're wearing it. That's when I worry. I would not be wearing this if it wasn't chic. Trust me. You're persuading me. I just heard dry robe and I went scared. It was excellent. You told me to be quick, so that was the quick explanation. Do you know what I got from there?
34:15They did North Face Skims, did like a reel to the floor one a while ago. And that's what I wear for like sport mum, you know, watching the kids. I love that. I wanted that. I saw it and then I thought, you've bought so many over nary things. No, but. It's very duvet. Like it is a little bit.
34:31Tobi Asare:Sometimes you do need a little bit of that, but still look chic.
34:40Our hot topic today Is marriage Oh okay Because We shuffled on our seats I tell you why Because It's my 20 year wedding anniversary Congrats Next week Oh my gosh Quite a long time Are you joking That's a long time You're at the stage where they say Oh you get longer for murder Or whatever That's your murder Is that what they say Yeah A life sentence Yeah that's amazing I know it's a really long time and I went to a family wedding on Saturday and what did you wear random girls I wore a Stella McCartney pink suit I often wear a trouser suit to a wedding because I find the sort of occasion dress it's quite overwhelming massively me and I'm not sure you get a great ROI on a dress unless it's very versatile makes sense and actually her brother got married and I also wore a suit and the woman said this woman came up to me a friend of my aunt was like I remember meeting you at the last one and you were wearing a suit then too anyway we were in church and I looked around and she's like she's my youngest cousin and all my cousins were around me and all their other hearts and started crying like properly crying in church thinking about my granny and how proud she would be and I was like God in life like that is all you can want out of life like there's nothing else you need everything else is superfluous happiness and I was like God and my cousin's husband was like God you're really a family person aren't you and as I get older more so yeah you get a bit more sentimental yeah I really I'm so sentimental and I'm like I've got six parents in my life and I'm like so lucky to have them we have to and so I think getting to 20 years of marriage I'm sort of what are you going to do this is where my brain is going we've actually just been to South France it looked amazing for two nights we went to Hotel de Cap which was a bit of a treat yeah big treat I'd been for lunch but we could never justify and we were like when we were little we dreamt of coming here and here we are so it was really cool incredible and yeah loved it so much so we've kind of done that but i was thinking you know what what is what advice would i give to my younger cousin for a long marriage and 20 years i think is quite a long successful marriage you keep saying you think it is and you have also been married 11 but i think together for like 18 years something like that yeah long time very very long time same 14 married and i think seven maybe 18 gosh together yeah maybe 17.
37:09well ladies we're all knocking on the 20s we are in some way congrats to you i said to my stepmom yesterday i said i'm going to podcast what advice would you give yeah and she said laugh and i said what at each other or with each other she was like both what advice would you that's that's so good it's true isn't it it's true you've got to be able to be laughed at yeah you do and i just think communication is so important like i think for me like and that's people when you when you say communication people think the bad that they think they say make sure if you say if something doesn't sit quite right with you or and that's important but i think communicate all the good stuff too like just make sure that your dialogue is always open between each other yeah yeah yeah because i think there's a lot to be said for that so i think we do this communication but make sure you communicate in how like you know when he walks out there i'm like you know such a little advice constantly communicate i think is important you can when especially when you've been together a long time it gets easy when the kids sort of take over and they still the show like to be quite separate in a marriage and i kind of i think you just keep that dialogue open always together i so agree how easy it is to be separate yeah in a marriage and i think that's a really good advice i was thinking one of mine is is to chat and not just about how you feel but just as you would with a friend yeah and sometimes when you catch up with a friend and you're like but how are you and what do you mean i don't feel like you necessarily know because you're just in the day-to-day sharing essentials and then you might have a sort of deep and you have your roles don't you do this i do that and then it becomes that yeah actually just like focusing on being a friend with good conversation as well as deep conversation i think this is really important what would you add to that toby gosh i think
38:44Tobi Asare:give each other space to grow mold change but also to be really independent as much as you are a bit of a unit so I think for us my husband just gives me the space to be who I want to be and like he's like right what are you working on now okay great how can we work that on together how can we work on that together how can we make that better like he's really championing me all the time just to be me and I'm quite a unique character you know so yeah so you change so much in 20 years so much so you've got to allow them to change and hope that you can change together you're so right yeah if you think about separately away from the relationship how much your life has changed in 20 years like it's it wouldn't be normal if you didn't do that together right how did you two meet we first met when i was like 16 wow and i interviewed him i used to host kids tv and i interviewed him when he was in a band prior to jlis we met then for the first time and i was like that young that my mom was chaperoning me and so funny as a wedding present the producer that did that show sent us it as a gift isn't that unbelievable yeah so we literally had our first meet on we've got it on on telly which is odd um and then fast forward to like we were in bands i was in the saturdays and he was in jealous at the same time and we were like on the same gigs and yeah we met that way that's so glamorous so different yes we met in the library oh yes i think you two are the most amazing i mean look we no one knows what goes on behind the scenes But I think you two are the most amazing role models.
40:17Oh, you are. You and your family, I really think. That is so nice. But we're just winging it like everyone else. You're winging it very well. Thanks. I didn't feel like that this morning when I was like, right, okay, this is what's happening today. I've got this, you've got that. You move, you're picking up. That is life. That is the reality. That's what it is. We're definitely winging it. I also wrote down Cuddles because I think to your point, like it is really easy to coexist and not be in date nights and that one moment when you're intimate it's like however whatever whatever you know that's all great but i think like regular cuddles and yeah it's like skin skin when you have a baby and they say it releases all that
40:53Tobi Asare:oxytocin you need that with your other half you just need that connection and i'm quite a tactile person so i need that definitely yeah i'll have a stranger sometimes i'm like no i don't want to and then I'm like oh um right Eula congratulations thank you so much like I knew you were launching a skincare line it's amazing I think I discussed it with you when you came but I didn't know I didn't anticipate it's quite so serious it's so funny I came in earlier and bought everybody gifts and she was like this is really serious well it's just like it's a you've really gone for it and the branding's amazing thank you it's it's a really big range the ingredients seem like i don't know in depth tell us more but like and the price point i mean oh man yeah price point i just really want it to bring uh you know i'm obsessed with skincare always have been and i know how sort of crowded that market is and how sort of overwhelming the amount of choice can be for me about since I started developing this I cut out every active I'm just not and people really find the beauty in different things I'm like I love having a facial I love it when they do all that there but in between that and day to day for me it's that's nice but it overwhelms my skin I just I don't want to you know use something and think I've made a mistake and I just want that real routine barrier first skincare and it become like a real sort of passion of mine and ingredients that I know that I love and that I sort of re-rated in other products sort of simplifying that and for me the price point was a really big mission of mine and it's like how do we do this how does we build this sort of world building brand because they're the brands that I love that I feel like oh my gosh I'm so excited that they're doing a pop-up or I want to bring that moment but I want people to be able to afford it when they step in the door so everything retails between eight and twelve pounds so impressive and like hyaluronic acid and yeah and yeah so what we had to do is I had to essentially I had to secure lots of doors with retailers to be able to place a large MOQ okay um which I hate talking about outside the office but yeah minimum order quantity to be able to then reduce the price right right so for me it was I was really trying to I've been through rounds of sort of formulations and you know developments of the product to be able to bring you the best product at the best price point so yeah so that was how it how it started we can't say it yet but i mean you're in like freaking nationals yeah can we can we say that we can say that yeah it would be on the high street right so we can we can say that on the 30th we'll announce the retailers properly but we launch in two retailers at the same time and we've been given a lot of the estate which and one of the retailers it's the largest independent skincare launch that they've had in their existence and they have like bubble and ceravee and those so i'm like it now has to work because it will it will it will it will to make this amazing i feel like you are sort of a bit the ordinary bit skims like i feel like you you are sort of love that there's this the feel that i have is that this is a really grown-up product that's really good and i haven't tried it yet but But from everything I've read and what I've been sent and what I've seen, it looks amazing.
44:13And it's got that kind of ordinary meat skims kind of feel to it. That it's like a seriously, seriously good product at a really great price. Everyone's going to get mad for it. I want you to like, if it's on your bathroom side, you don't want it. If someone's coming over, you don't shove it in the cupboard. It's cute, it's aesthetic. And, you know, the aim of the brand is not competing with your facialist. It's not, I don't want a brand that claims all these crazy claims that it's Botox in a bottle. like that isn't where we're going we're going every day good ingredients good routine if it ends up in the hands of somebody younger that's okay because I'm really aware of this like
44:47Tobi Asare:strange we have loads of ingredients for young people young people are using things like retinol and stuff they just shouldn't be and you know I've got a 13 year old right so she's part of what they call this sephora kids generation um and I and I'm really anti that I don't love that at all but for me if you know my eldest does want to use it it's it's all right so i think it's not they're not our target audience that's not the demographic but i just know how this world now works is that all of a sudden if someone if their favorite influencer uses it then they're going to want to try i've got a question for you ask me you're going to massive national retailers and you are chelle humes and we all know who you are and you're wonderful and lovely and you know you've got you're a successful broadcaster and entrepreneur but celebrity skincare is obviously huge and then you're up against science and yeah how did you go in there and get taken seriously by those brands like what do you think the thing was because like kim kardashian we all want that magic like it feels like you're being taken that seriously by really big name retailers yeah how do you think why do you think that is i think don't take that the wrong way no no no it's a really really good question and I think I think the products I think we we literally sent them samples first before we even had a meeting and I think they've they sort of had that moment they knew what I was trying to do I think for me I'll give a little hint as to one of the retailers is that I my my sort of nieces my children they're all obsessed and I've been really obsessed from a business perspective what's going on across the pond so when we look like stateside and these kids are desperate for you to take them to Target and Walmart and they don't realise is that they basically have that on their doorstep here it's the same thing as your you know as your grocers here but these brands that our kids are loving are basically you know in the Tesco or in the Sainsbury's or in the equivalent you know stateside and they think that this is like yeah it's the excitement of Target which let's face it they're grey the lighting's terrible the merchandising's a bit of a mess It's just the melatonin.
46:51Tobi Asare:That's the only thing. I've been older and going into Target this summer. I'm also excited. I'm like, what have they got in Target? And I think for me, the way that the almost the, I read an article that said these kind of Korean skincare brands focused on Ulta and Sephora and that audience when really they should have been looking at the Walmart and the Target from the jump because these brands that have launched in there have had this. And they launch in Target, by the way, and come over here and end up in Space NK. Oh my God. Which shows you how the difference in the proposition. so for me that's always really really excited that's really interesting because when i was in new york my daughter was sending me lists of all these things yeah your shopping list from target yeah just don't tell your daughters when you go there equally she's ordering victoria beckham mascara so i'm like are you sure you're that's what i mean that's what i mean it's a juxtaposition that works yeah it's really really well i get something in my makeup bag and she'll go i've got that mommy and i'm like sorry can we can we get the product out because it looks so how many products are there in we're launching with 12 isn't the branding so 11 skin one body i love this so much and i also love the names rochelle thank you i did fine i did see that i did see the tiktok um video of the late of the girl i was like really clever investigative journalism i mean i mean she's i've invited us to the launch event because i'm like you deserve to yeah essentially i started like a private instagram when i was originally building the brand and like we shared the whole process warts and all and it was called rush builds a brand and it was just kind of really raw updates of things that happened things that have gone wrong and then there's this girl on tiktok that and i'm not even a tiktok girly so like my i just got on like once a month yeah and she had like seen the name that i'd been that i trademarked she'd like guessed the name and the color palette and the reveal and it was brilliant yes she's i've invited I like the commitment you can come yeah it's like the five star weekend when she invites her follower um how what the name where does it come from what does it mean you know it's my middle name is it it's my middle name yeah and it was actually my grandma's name yes yeah my um she's not with us anymore but she's jamaican and um was jamaican and yeah i just do you know what it's so funny that growing up i had a real love hate relationship with my middle name and i um i had so my both grandparents are my middle name so I had Eula and Eileen which is so so they're my middle names my mum was like well Eileen's gonna be fubing god rest her soul yeah that's a good idea then you've got to um and of all the products what would you start with like if people were watching everything to try it what would you say well I mean at eight to twelve pounds I think get yourself everything yeah um well I think always a way to sort of start with a brand is trying their lip product i always think it's a good entry level into a brand is trying their lip product so i would say that because it's something that i think it's something everyone can use exactly that exactly so i would say our lip blanket it's called is um incredible the texture is amazing and it just lasts and what else have we got in the range um what haven't we got we've got three cleansers because i'm a triple cleanse girl oh yeah i mean i like i'm all for a double cleanse For me, I was trying to, we call it our yogurt balm.
50:04And that's our makeup melting cleanser. And for me, the brief to the team was, I didn't want fragrance in that. I don't like fragrance in a face wash. It's too close. My notes back, the first formula is too drippy. And they were like, right, okay. I actually love the way I articulate things. But my note was, I just want to be, if I'm like, I don't know, in the kitchen at the table and the kids are doing their homework, I want to be able to not have to be over a sink. Does that make sense? I want to be able to get it off and then run back and wash it. but I want to be able to multitask. Okay. So three cleansers.
50:35Three cleansers. Moisturiser. Our calf butter is something that I'm really, really excited about, which is here, the box on the right. And it's almost like your gouache's best friend. Do you know, it says facial flow bar. And you know. I'm like, I know exactly what that does. And if you open it, the actual, I mean, smell it. It smells incredible. But the actual product is blue. That's from the blue spirulina in there. So it's not, but it smells like a spa day. There's rose hip in there, vitamin E, uranium, frankincense. But there's no frankincense in that. It's just from the ingredients that are...
51:09Congratulations. God, amazing. You're phenomenal. You've got so much on. Thank you. God, congratulations. I'm actually dying as well. I really want to try this as well. I've never seen one of those before. You girlies will love that. That is post-gym. You know when you say legs up the wall when you want to... Yes. Or getting off a flight. Yeah.
51:24Tobi Asare:And that is gorgeous. It's better than wearing compression socks a bit. Yes. Give yourself a nice little massage. gosh amazing love it love the price point love the name the packaging and and I love you for letting me come in here and talk about it so thanks thank you thank you 30th of September it's that yes it's my 20th anniversary there you go there we go thank you so much thank you thank you ladies so much what a lovely way to start the week thank you gorgeous that's it for today if you enjoyed that then do please rate, review leave a comment we'll see you soon thank you so much bye bye

What does it really take to launch a beauty brand while juggling work, motherhood and nearly 20 years with the same person? This week on the SheerLuxe Podcast, Georgie is joined by Rochelle Humes and Tobi Asare for a wide-ranging conversation covering everything they’re loving, wearing and talking about right now.
Rochelle gives us the inside story on Eulah, her new affordable skincare brand, revealing why she stripped back her own routine, her thoughts on the ‘Sephora kids’ generation and how she secured major high-street retailers before launch. Plus, she shares the products she genuinely swears by, her current weight-training routine and why three or four matchas a day is completely normal in her world.
Elsewhere, the team discuss the secrets to a long marriage, autumn fashion buys, Gemma Collins, Theo James and why they’re firmly divided over the return of the ‘elevated dry robe’. Expect plenty of recommendations, honest opinions and laughs along the way.
