0:32If you've never thought of Porsche as the brand for you, the Cayenne Electric might just change your mind. Find out more, visit the Porsche website. On this week's podcast, we cover the spectrum of basically everything. I talk about the life change discovery I made this weekend and why you are going to need to try it too. The£6 chips, sensational. They were so crispy, fluffy, hot, well seasoned. I think we must have gone through about eight plates. Where do you sit on the scale of planning your outfits? This spot, because I heard some of the LGs talking about the fact that they try on their outfit the night before work.
1:07So they prep the outfit and they've tried it on. I literally open my cupboard doors and I'm like, all right, that one. Yeah. And is Lou the only person in the world that gets the ick from this? If you can find a husband that turns into Rihanna for you, I didn't know. That is a little ick for me. What? I knew you would say that. I think it's amazing, but like, I couldn't fancy you less. We have a new episode every Friday, so make sure you follow us. And if you're watching this, on or before the 23rd of July, we have been nominated in the British Podcast Award. There is a link below to vote, so please go vote.
1:51Welcome back to the Sheerlux Podcast. I am your host, Billy Bartia, and today I am joined by celebrity stylist Holly Scott-Lidgett and fashion director Lou Ha. Okay, before we get going, girls, tell me what you're wearing. So I have my favourite Zara slipper, which I missed first time round. They're Zara. Everyone thinks they're Charvet. A hundred percent. And I'm comfortable to let them know they're Zara, depending on who they're comfortable. I actually think that is a really big flex when someone assumes it's very designer and you say it's high street. I've had so many situations like that and I love going, oh yeah, this little one, this bizarra.
2:29It's such an amazing moment. I've only been caught out once when I had a little like moment in the hotel foyer of the Bristol. Are you telling me the story? I'm totally sorry. It's the dark story. Do you want to hear it? Yeah, go on. Okay, so it was during Paris Fashion Week. It was actually during Couture. and we're at the Bristol, which is the bougiest, most amazing. There's like cat running through it. It's like everything about your life is elevated the moment you walk through the door. And there is a celebrity manager from one of the big, big design houses who is the most handsome man I think I've ever seen in my life to date.
3:04And I was in this look, which was a wardrobe NYC trouser and a lyre heel, which I was very happy for in that moment. And then I had nothing underneath. I couldn't get anything to work. and I had a Zara charcoal gray suede bomber. It was so, even I was like, this person's like working out. Like she's got this look together. Like who are you? And I kept my sunglasses on the entire time, which considering I was a celebrity is a bit rude, but like whatever, I did it, I lent it. And he walked through the door of the Bristol. I was coming with my celebrity, walking up to sing and I was like, oh my God, he's seen me.
3:34Oh my God, he's seen me, he's seen me. And he was like, oh my God, girlfriend. He's like, you look absolutely amazing. Tell me everything about that jacket. and I was like panic panic so I start off I went oh my god it's from an amazing Spanish Emporium and I was like am I gonna let it out and it was literally like somebody stopped me I don't know if I can say Zara in this place scream it was a lot should I tell you the truth yeah I did not and that is the only time did you feel guilty not saying it I felt like a terrible person inside and also very thankful that I didn't say it at the same time.
4:11Could you not just run with vintage if you don't want to say where it's from? Vintage is the excellent out. Yeah. Vintage is the excellent out for everything. And I did like Spanish Emporium that you may have heard of. I think embrace it. I think I always do. It was once. I think you would get enough because the rest of it was so elevated. Working out. Yeah. But he wasn't there to talk about the rest. Okay, fine, fine, fine. If he'd gone to me, talked me through the shoe, I would have been like a liar, talked me through a trousers wardrobe, NYC, I was like the bag yeah it's all but he was like tell me about that coat the thing is you don't want to burst the bubble I agree but I I feel like if it was a girl coming up to you that was like oh my god tell me about this jacket you would have been like babe safe safe I would have been safe interesting I think you're right about that yeah safety that girl coat like I'm going to tell you because you're going to go get it yeah I want you to go and get it you wanted to I don't know the LeBristol took over I think the LeBristol took over I think the fact that he's the most handsome man, the fact that he's the most well-dressed man.
5:08Fair, that would make me glit. Yeah, to be fair, like fashion aside, just when you get uncomfortable and you know you just, you say something or you like do a stupid mannerism and then literally you watch yourself and you're like, what the fuck is wrong with me? Oh my God, you have to have a word with yourself. You have to have a word with yourself. And you wish you could live it again. Oh yeah. Okay, so so far we only know where your shoes are. Sorry, so I'm letting everybody know. These are from Zara. Next up is Phoebe Philo on the trouser. Yeah. Needs no major introduction. Can I say, have you had them tailored because they fit you to perfection?
5:39No. Wow. Amazing. Because she cuts a trouser well. Great. They're a bit long. And there was a moment when I was like, I'm not wearing them because I'm scuffing them. They're the most expensive thing I've ever bought. Like, freaking out. Then I was like, just lean in. Yeah. Let the trouser live. Like, if it scuffs, like, what the fuck? Like, just enjoy. My belt is from H &M. Nice. my t-shirt is from Boujo Hack which I feel is a real bit of you do you know them? oh my god you are gonna can I take this off? I'm now like and I actually like shvitzing like a fucking mania I can't I can't get it off I can't get it off it's the perfect neckline I'm incredibly picky about a t-shirt neckline I think this brand is so up your street it's a basics brand so it's t-shirts it's little mesh pants it's little vests they've got an oversized boyfriend tee but this I think is the and I'm funny about a white tea like with denim and white tea they are a lifelong journey for me and it's an evolving kind of like part of my wardrobe where obviously I do have thousands of not thousands but a lot of each would I say I've landed the perfect one ever still waiting still waiting or just maybe I'm evolving it's so body dependent though yeah like the perfect tea is going to be perfect for like a different body every time well and also And also how you want it to fit, like you don't always want it to be tight.
6:59Sometimes you want boxy, sometimes you want the sleeve to be longer, sometimes you want the neckline to be showing, sometimes you don't. Like, it really depends on the outfit. Yeah, it feels like it. But there is definitely a need in one's wardrobe for multiple. Yeah. To exactly that point. What sort of price point are we talking? So I think it's one of the best fitted, I mean, do we call it a baby tee? I don't know, a fitted tee that I found. And whilst it is a bit more expensive, this one I would invest in. for my looser boxier ones i go gap yeah and uh well gap is actually my hands down favorite really hands down yeah i have like layering ones which are my inexpensive ones and then ones that are on show which are more about the cut yeah and our ket and coz do a really great evening white tea 90 you tried them yeah yeah they're a really good price point and quite thick which i think is nice yeah well you want a bit of structure with the tea if you're going out in the evening i think rather than true and also i think the thick like when it's too sheer that to me it sort of loses the pill i think you want it needs to be like white white you two are going to really speak the same language on this podcast aren't you okay right move my show will quit i don't have stories about any of my pieces shirt is dish uh it's the rear it is the best oversized thick con shirt i need you to send me a link immediately yeah you need it you really really need it tank is masmo So trousers are Almada, shoes are Zara.
8:17I've been waiting to talk about these shoes since I saw you. They are the comfiest, the most worn shoes I've had of the year. What about yours? I'm wearing a SOS range top that I feel like has had a lot of airtime this summer because it's such a good piece. And it looks so fantastic on you. It does. It looks so much. The first thing I said to you when I saw you, I was like, top. Thanks, guys. Living for this validation today. I think it's potentially because I'm still hungover and I've got a Top Shot slip skirt on and then I've got some Bottega sandals that I found at Bista Village Don't forget if you're listening on Spotify you can switch over to video to see what we're wearing and discover Holly's Great White Tea Legally, we can't say drinking Storm makes you smarter and more focused but with zero sugar, 200mg of caffeine and immunity support you're smarter and more focused for drinking Storm Storm, good energy in, good energy out energy for life
9:15right let's talk about things that we love i feel like we've got some good restaurants that we want to talk about yeah tell us more about cafe clement cafe clement has to be my new favorite place to go to so it looks so chic i mean everything that alex eagle world touches yeah turns to gold so it's always going to be a winner but the menu looks so good food's delicious the place just to say it's got a it's got a hotel attached to it as well the common yeah and i was lucky enough to have a little viewing of which alex has done all of the interiors and she has done the most amazing job but i think it's also about the position i think that part of london has been completely overlooked we like walk into like the building and there's the main you know a main road near temple embankment you know behind the strand yeah and there's the water i mean how often are you right next i know it's so nice there okay even though the water is not that nice but you know still and then you've got the hotel which has dual aspect looking out over every bit of london i've never seen anything like it you come into the restaurant it smells insane like that was the first thing like buttery insane or so in the okay so fragrance insane in the foyer yeah and i was like dude they have worked this shit out it's i haven't been to a place that has been flooded like that but not overwhelming like a lemony kind of light like there was nothing about that that I wasn't enjoying and I was like laying down with books and I was all there it was 5 ,000 degrees I was like there and I was like yes I'll just be here yeah second all the colors were sympathetic like I was like I'm just comfortable here yeah let me just say it's also not like super neutral it's not sort of like stark there's definitely like there's texture and richness to it but not like an overwhelming way I thought it It was cozy.
11:00Yeah. Cozy and inviting and not austere in any capacity. And what did you eat? What was the best thing? Okay. Lobster omelet. Okay. Just process that. Gigi. Yeah. Parma ham and melon. And I've got to say, I know that sounds basic guys, but it can go so wrong. And this went so right. The melon scooped out with like an ice cream scoop. I appreciate that. The zucchini fruity was the best thing I have. It's almost like little onion bhajis rather than the long sticks. Which was utterly delicious. and then a kind of bean, like a broad bean pea, green bean salad, fresh. It was utterly delicious. Oh, and I had a blini.
11:37Yum. At like midday. A blini is my favourite thing. Nick Jones wants to prove he can do food. 100%. Because the sticking point that people have with Soha House is that the food isn't amazing and this is his version. But is it members only or part of it is members only? I don't know. I think the restaurant is not members only and I think that the hotel is open to everyone i think there are residencies within the hotel which feels like quite a fresh thing to be doing in london yeah um so one part of it penthouses you can buy and then the other part is all obviously just hotel um and i think it won't the hotel won't be functioning maybe till september yeah i feel like it's in like soft launch yeah exactly the staff were amazing and we sat what i loved about it is we sat what on paper would be roadside but you're elevated up you're sitting on a terrace you can see the thames you can see the goings-on with a very sort of gentle goings-on in that area yeah it's not like soho it's a lovely little bit of london i am gonna bring this down i peg excellent and talk about the best chips i think i've ever had i'm so intrigued by this because i feel like a good chip on a menu make or break okay so i watched the football at prince arthur pub on forest roads which is hackney way and i do think this i do you think this pub is like known for their food like the menu is is quite amazing it's not like your classic pub grub situation it is also quite expensive like I ordered a rosé and it was 17 pounds I was like so sorry okay what did wow that's a lot yeah um however the six pound chips sensational I think that I think there must be like triple cooked but it's like okay so they're thick yeah i was gonna say tell me through what is a good chip for you medium medium thickness i want like crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside retains heat important very very important as soon as they're cold cold soggy chip is not it's not good also this is these are like obviously very different to a french fry but it was like the salt and pepper seasoning was like baked into the chip oh it was a bit like a spice bag but not spice baggy it was just sort of peppery but i they they were so crispy fluffy hot well seasoned i think they must have gone through about eight plates and are you like dipping this or are you having it naked no double dip mayo and ketchup i'm a ketchup only you were like ketchup first and mayo second no it goes in the mayo first because that can hold the ketchup better and then straight and then straight into the ketchup and then straight into my mouth i recently had a kaufman fry and i was like oh i don't know what that is that sort of something fancy turns out it was just chip but i had them twice from two different places and they were so exceptional so whatever that is that to me is can you talk me through exactly that that was quite thin like i do not like a chip stick i'm gonna go with like a centimeter wide square around a little bit of skin like on the edges incredibly crispy fluffy on the inside and salt pepper i love that just wonder whether i'll ever get bored of a chip yeah i will not i will not is it controversial that i quite like a skinny fry no there's a time and place for a skinny fry yeah i agree i like a skinny fry sometimes because it'll be so much salt that it almost burns your mouth.
14:47Yes. I just find that when they're too skinny, you kind of have to have like five at a time. And then I'm like, well, I think it's just because I wanted a big chip. Not like a fat one. When they go into roast potato territory. Yeah. When you order at the pub and you're like, oh, there's four. Yeah, don't like that. It's basically just one potato. Don't like that. This was a real, there was a real heap of them. I want a heap. Yeah. It was really good. I do think the food, I want to go back for dinner because I feel like the food there would be really good. Oh, so you just did fry. well we also did bread and butter and the bread and butter was really really really tasty it was like oh what's it called this is prince arthur bread and butter and just chips like that's i was making like mini butty i was gonna say chip butty there's literally nothing my when i was in um like peak first trimester pregnancy cravings there was a solid week where all i could eat was bread butter and sort of vinegar crisps or chips was like all i wanted so i feel like i I would have been in a really happy place there.
15:43Oh, you'd love it. It was like a wholemeal warm baguette sliced up. Ooh, wholemeal baguette. I feel like you've lost me. Honestly. I was with you on that. I feel like you've lost me there. I don't know if it actually was wholemeal. It just wasn't white bread. Okay, fine. But it was warm and like so fluffy, so delicious. And the, it was, I can't remember what the butter was. It had, the butter was like a branded one. But you know when it's like dollop on the side with loads of like flaky sea salt on the top. And then the butter, because the bread was still warm, the butter was like oh so good so good we um we were in france a couple of weeks ago and like like when they just bring out like the bread at the beginning i'm like you know don't you don't need to take up take our order straight away just bring it before anything's even started french butter and bread is just so anyway the amount of people around other tables that just weren't tucking in just imagine being that person who doesn't have the bread basket lou talk to us about the tuna so I totally thought you meant fish then um segue from fish yes okay we move from food okay yeah so I watched a film on the week called the tuna which is with Dustin Hoffman and Leah Woodall basically they are two piano tuners and they go to expensive houses and tune their pianos and Leah Woodall gets caught up he basically has a kind of hearing impairment he's basically allergic to really loud noises so he has to wear kind of a sort of earphone and then like double earphone over the top because he's really um sensitive to loud noises anyway he is doing a job and he overhears the security men upstairs goes up and they are trying to get into a safe and this is not a spoiler but he basically gets kind of caught up in what they are doing because with his hearing he can sound out a like the lock of a safe so he like as it turns he can kind of hear when it gets the right point without knowing it clever useful all right he get the storyline is not super exciting but it is so beautifully filmed and did you guys ever watch baby driver yes okay so it's got that sort of like beat with like the music and like the choppy changes and the way that it's filmed, which is so aesthetically pleasing.
18:01And to your ear, I don't know, there's just something really satisfying about it. And I really enjoyed it. I think there's a lot of good films out at the minute. There's the Odyssey that's out. Obviously, we're like loving Zendaya's red carpet. Yeah, incredible. She hasn't done one single watch. Well, that's because she's so stunning. Yeah, she is. Also, she has that kind of effortless. I don't actually care. I think that is what makes her. She's actually not a tryhard. Her and her husband, I always think if I could choose two people to be friends with, it would be them. Have you seen them on the lip sync challenge?
18:33So good. Yeah. I'm like, if you can find a husband that turns into Rihanna for you, and slouch her, then I'm there. That is a little ick for me. What? I knew you would say that. I think it's amazing, but I couldn't fancy you less. That's controversial, Lou. I just love the commitment to it. Totally, totally, totally. Every time that comes off on my feed, I never skip it. I watch the full YouTube. And I would 100 % watch it. But yeah, there's something that couldn't be less sexy about. Yeah, like mates, lols, jokes. But you were friends then. Like they weren't together then. Is that true? Yeah.
19:10They weren't together then. Okay. Maybe that's when she fell in love. Maybe. I just think if you can find somebody that can access joy like that with you. Yeah, totally, totally. I agree with that. able to be so unveined that they're willing to learn the umbrella they're getting down he's flipping around the place and what i love is watching her watch him yeah i have a friend um a really good friend couple and he was a break dancer when he was a kid right it was his thing and whenever we're partying gets to like some early hour in the morning and he's break dancing again right and it's like he's amazing but what i enjoy most in those moments is watching his wife watch him because she literally is like that's my yeah and he's like we are all of an age now where maybe it doesn't look quite the same as it did but she looks at him like yeah my husband and he's and i think it's hot you know but when i say dancing is so hot another thing i was going to say with what i'm obsessed with is sam salter who was on the sun man podcast last week i get it i get it I love him too.
20:15I think he's amazing. And like his dancing ability just blows my mind. And when he was on the podcast, he was talking about just kind of being himself and you know, the last six months, how much he's grown because he's just embraced him. And I just think that is so refreshing. And I have honestly like spent hours going back on his feet watching. It's so entertaining. It's so entertaining. And also just like, he's incredible. Like the way that his body can move. and just like the creativity around his content as well. It's just not like what you see all the time. I feel like he sells me on every hotel he goes to.
20:54Literally everything. And he does like the room tour via choreographed dance. I'm like, where is it? I'm like, I want to go. I want to go to that hotel and like watch you perform that immediately. And just the joy that I get from watching that. And that's kind of why like, you know, it's not the same, but like when I watch a musical, I just feel so uplifted by watching like, Happy, positive, just people just move their bodies in that way. It really makes me happy. Well, I think also there's a real kind of like release when you move. Yeah, totally. There's a real kind of like when you move, you're just letting it all.
21:25You're free. You know, it's that classic saying, wasn't it? Dance like nobody's watching. I mean, that's obviously came around for exactly that reason, because that's your ultimate space of freedom. I mean, I totally would dance like no one's watching if I could dance. Yeah, 100%. But when you don't have that much skill. I don't know I like I wish I was more confident in that but I don't know I just kind of stand with a little toothache just stand in your zone like that just bopping like getting intellectual with the music there and as I'm in the car then my sit down dancing really comes into fruition oh my god I love sit down dancing I was in the car by myself yesterday and I was my like absolute go to like pump up song is Taylor Swift which one which one there's so many so cool summer honestly my music taste is so uncool Anyway, cool summer.
22:15Really gets me going. And I just pumped it up so loud. And I was like, dance to myself. And you know, when you catch someone dancing in the car or singing to themselves, and it just like really perks you up, I just did that for someone else. Oh, I love that. I love that. I'm a massive dancer. I'm like, I think that's... I see that for you. Do you? Yeah. I'm glad you connected. I could have allowed you connected. Yeah. I'm sort of not sure what I look like to others. But for me, I just think I like Beyonce and Coachella. I'm literally like what they're saying. My daughter's like, not quite sure you delivered on that.
22:46I'm like, babe, have you seen me? Are you fucking dead? You know, it's one of my life goals to get caught up in a flash mob. I've done a flash mob. No, you haven't. Where? In fact, weirdly, in a circle conversation here, the couple I was talking about, the breakdancing couple, got married later on in life two years ago. And as a gift to them, their wedding gift, for me and my 12 friends, we rehearsed for two months and we did a flash mob in the middle of their wedding. We pretended that we were going to read them a poem. Okay. So we're like, come on, get together. And we sat them on two chairs.
23:15And we were like, look, we're just going to read you a poem from, you know, all because we love you or something. I don't know, something sentimental. And so we all sort of gently got into our positions. And then the DJ put the music on and we just busted it out. What song was it? It's a crucial piece of information. Okay, nice.
23:36Okay, guys, a quick reminder. If you are loving this episode, please do subscribe to the ShareLots podcast. It really helps us out. Okay, moving on. Fashion finds. Two very different things. First up, Helsa. Elsa Hosk brand. Incredibly underrated celebrity brand, in my opinion. There is a pair of dungarees with like embroidery around the top, white in cotton poplin, which are the chicest things I've ever seen. There's an influencer called Alexia Ick. She was having like a Scandi summer, and she posted them in her garden with her wellies and like her little cashmere shawl over the side. And it's just like, I want to be that girl.
24:13And then I'm in my elasticated waist trouser era, obviously. And cotton poplin trousers, coincidentally, are also having a really big moment this summer. And I got a pair from Arquette and they're a barrel leg, which I think barrel, when you've got a wider leg trouser, the barrel just nips it into the bottom and just feels a little bit more flattering. I've got them in two colors and they are heaven. Beauty finds. and then beauty this is due to you the Lisa Eldred's skin tint so Billy obviously glowing literally got us over that every time I see her I say what is on your face and she says it's the Lisa Eldred's skin tint immediately go and get it and it is the best summer foundation it's not really, it's so lightweight it's so lightweight but just kind of gives you a little glow and just a kind of a little blur to your skin like I don't want anything too thick in the summer and I actually find that anything too thick I feel is also quite aging and it is so lovely I actually I find it easier with my fingers so I just put a tiny little bit here and just kind of rub it over over and I love it so much I'm so glad thank you so much because it is it is the perfect summer skin products yeah it's it I'm actually more of a full coverage girly than you are and even I think that is like perfect coverage yeah because it's it's really aqueous but buildable and honestly if you want to be stopped in the street and told you've got glowing skin that is the product you need to buy um Holly what about you what are your fashion beauty finds I'm really into shoal shoes oh so I I don't know if you ladies know about shoal from back in the day.
25:58So they've really moved forward with their design. I have three pairs I'm currently rotating. I mean, the classic is the wooden sole with the bit of leather over the toe. Yeah, I had them in red. In red. That was the classic one. Lindry Evangelista was in the campaign. It was all like, yes, I'm living my best life in Saint-Tropez or somewhere. But what they've done is they've introduced a heel. And they've really got a kind of Phoebe Philo feel to them. So the two that I've got, I am obsessed with to the point where I'm building an outfit from the foot upwards because I'm so obsessed with the shoes.
26:29Nice. Yeah. And they're a good price point, right? Really good price point. Really good for summer. And good for your feet. Good for your feet and super comfortable. They work with denim. They work with the tailored trouser. I mean, they work so well with these. I actually have them here. I was going to do a little like show and tell. And they do the wooden sole. they have made black with a black strap across the toe and then they've got silver hardware so they are incredibly chic so that's what I'm a very comfy summer shoe actually I should shout out there's a pair of COS shoes I tried on on the weekend and they are like a satin slipper open toe black never ever ever put on a more comfy shoe in my life really like you would love that like with what you're wearing right now couldn't be more perfect okay because I'm in the market for a shoe like that I'll send them to you Is it with like a little opening rather than a big opening at the toe?
27:21Yes, it's a very, very tiny opening at the toe and then quite a thick. It's probably like that thickness over the bridge of the foots. I think I've just seen them. Yeah. And I couldn't get over how comfortable they were. I think that the width of the opening of the toe turned something from being incredibly chic to being more kind of basic. Yeah, I agree. And I think it's smaller. Billy's like, you guys have lost me. Could you really see that in my eye then? I was like, wait, hold on, what the width of the what? When you have a flip-flop, how high the thong goes up your foot, that can also be unflattering.
27:52Completely aligned. Wow. It makes a massive. And this is a mile. And once you've seen it, you can't unsee it. How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning? Actually, really quick. Because I haven't made decisions like that. So I know what's in the wardrobe. You've already made the decisions about the length of the thong on the flip-flop. I think I'm an emotional dresser. So I think I can have it prepped. I wake up in the morning and I'm not feeling it. And then I just lean into what I feel. Well, I literally opened my cupboard doors and I'm like, all right, that one. Yeah. But we're going to move on to this in a bit.
28:21But I'm going to do mine quickly because I've got two really good beauty finds. The new Medicaid cleanser is a gel cleanser. Basically, for anyone who's got oily prone skin, using a balm cleanser isn't the best thing for you. It's great at removing your makeup, but it kind of can add to the sebum that's already in your skin. I always break out when I use it. Yeah. Right. But a foam cleanser can be so drying. and this is now the saviour that has come into the world and it is the hold on a second the Medicaid Total Daily Moisturiser Cleansing Gel but it's a cleansing gel that genuinely will remove your makeup too so I'm thrilled about this and my second one and Lou I feel like you're going to be into this yeah I feel like all your beauty finds because last time you talked about the new Medicaid vegan PDRN serum yeah and I was sold okay this is a new perfume brand called Reservation Parfum and it's this incredibly chic I think the tagline is like crafted in France but like born in California they just sent me a fragrance I need to remember the name of it and it's this very like it's very simple chic bottle which I feel like is important because it would look nice on all dressing tables and the scents are delicious like really really mega and I am really into a discovery set at the minute yeah the best I love a discovery set yeah they do a gorgeous little discovery set and I think in the sort of day and age of everyone knowing what the other person smells like because the like big popular ones are really very popular it's really nice to like have something that's a little bit secretive again like I think that's another flex when someone says you smell amazing what are you wearing and it's a brand that they would have heard of so yeah Reservation Parfum obviously we love Maison Francis Kirchner and we love Baccarat Rouge but like as soon as you smell it you know what that fragrance is Vireo, yes I love Vireo I love Virela.
30:10I love their incense sticks. Me too. Also, I think incense has been overlooked. I've brought incense back into my life. Love that. As an Indian person, it's always in my life. There you go. Okay. Lou? No, not for me. My mum is like, make sure of that. Not for me. Has she got the tray to catch the ash? Because that's the thing that bothers me. There's so many trays. I can have the ceramic thing to stick it in, but where's the ash? Yeah. Who's catching it? You've got to get the long ones. I think it's long ones or not. I mean, if you want to go really fancy, like Lobchet, the Uwe one that's like a porcelain.
30:37I'm going to see how much I'm leaning in. If I'm leaning into incense fully in two months. Or you could definitely just like go to an Indian shop and get one for five pounds. That's like a wooden club one. Literally, I think I'm going to do that. Literally, as soon as I leave. Bye.
30:54I want to talk about celebrity things that is going on because I feel like there's a lot of celebrity things going on in a minute. But first of all, I would love to talk about the finale of the World Cup because I think it has taken over our lives the last however many weeks. Yes. And there was a lot to unpack on the last hurrah. Can I ask if the halftime thing is a new thing? A new thing. I had that question. So they're obviously trying to do the Super Bowl thing, which is obviously mega. But it really threw me. Because it was weird. I will admit I have not been into the football at all. And it's sort of been on in the background, but been doing other things.
31:30And that happened at the final night. And then the halftime, everyone kept talking about this halftime show and who was in it. And then it started and I was like, am I watching the right thing? This just feels a real break in the whole thing. And it was very odd. It was. And such a range of performers. It just didn't quite gel. It didn't gel. It was like, stop Americanifying this. Yeah. I had real challenges with listening to Tom Cruise on the plinth. Tom Cruise got on the plinth which obviously we know he doesn't like to stand on the plinth because you all know he needs to be on the plinth between being five foot but he got on the plinth and then he gave a speech about greatness about what?
32:16Oh this is fair. And I was like what is going on? Who are you? Yeah. Help. Why do they have to make things so cringe? Greatness. I mean really I get it. Football is great. I love football. Cool. It's brought us all together but greatness. I love that in the context of like, she is the man when Channing Tatum delivers his like greatness. Which actually is a Shakespeare quote. But I'm like, no, come on. No. Come on. I didn't mean. And also I think Tom Cruise is a weird choice. I think that's just a very American choice. Yeah. I mean, it was a lot. Yeah. But what I do love is how unifying this has been.
32:55not just for like people like people at home watching it it's been nice to kind of obviously be with people during those occasions but it has where like the world has been so heavy and there's been so much division which has obviously incited so much hate it's it's been really nice to like see communities and people and countries and different yeah come together come together and to know that there's loads of people around the world in different time zones watching the same thing as you. I love that. And also, like, someone is always celebrating. So there's always joy somewhere within that. And I do think that I feel like the England players, I'm like, pat on the back.
33:32I feel really proud of them. Oh, they delivered. Yeah. You need to go and watch the video of Yamin Lamal where there's this picture of, do you know who Messi is? Mm-hmm. There's a picture of him holding him as a child. And then they played against each other in the final yesterday. but there's it's just the cutest interaction after when his baby brother comes onto the pitch and he's like three or four and he's possibly the cutest child I've ever seen he actually is and he is like holding the World Cup trophy and he tries to lick it like it's really really cute that book okay that would have caught me yeah yeah yeah we need to talk about Mal C's wedding oh yes we do I'm loving her rebrand yeah she's the face of JW Anderson if you just kind of quickly saw that campaign there's no way you would ever think that was sporty spice she looked amazing she looked amazing and just she looked you know her hair was down relaxed she was wearing a kind of very loose victoria beckham dress nothing too fancy like minimal makeup she was glowing she looked she looked amazing i agree she also had that kind of sense again at that stage in her life where she was like i'm doing this and this feels right yeah there's a real self-assuredness to her and a real ease to it like nothing felt performative or just like this is the way I think I should be dressing for this or anything it just felt very you know nothing like wow oh my god look at that dress or wedding but just kind of simple I thought she looked spectacular also her bod is insane always has strong yeah but to commit to that your whole life you know she's sporty spice yeah she's never let that down she's never come out of sporty spice that willpower could not I don't I think all spice girls have maintained their characters all the way Yeah, that's a good take.

35:13Bebe wasn't there though, was she? She wasn't. The other... Just in form of dress. Yeah. I shan't be there, but here is my bride. But dress is there. But baby looked like baby. It seemed quite like natural as opposed to very contrived weddings. I've become a little immune to like the big weddings and I appreciate that they are amazing and beautiful and magical and everything. But I think, you know, I think what I liked about the kind of just post-COVID weddings is everyone got a bit more just kind of relaxed and leaning into really what they wanted to do and I feel like they've gone really extra again yeah and I don't know it's just post-COVID you couldn't facilitate the madness around being a bridezilla because you just couldn't facilitate yeah because you were post-pandemic I got married right bang in the middle of pandemic yeah in 2021 I think so we'd gone into lockdown and it was like oh god I had two weddings yeah to the same person but just may add um but the first one which is a very very small one was right in the middle of like everyone's got to wear the thing right yeah and actually being released from having to do all of that yeah can I go to the shops with 5 ,000 of my friends to go and try on a million different dresses and you know it had to kind of come much more down to what do I really want because I didn't have the noise yeah what's important to me yeah yeah and you had the ability to focus in on totally and then like we were the same we were 20 like 2020 so right at the peak of everything being awful and yeah we had seven guests at our wedding in the ceremony everybody had a face mask on the the people that were sort of doing the service there was like a plastic shield between them and us and when i sort of described that i think oh my god no no i would not want my wedding to be that but actually it wasn't about any of those things and none of that like that was just noise within it it was literally just about getting married to my husband um yeah things have changed
37:17we've got two two very different hot topics to discuss today we're going to come back to the getting dressed situation because clearly you two are professionals at this professional getting dressed you go into such depth around it so I guess the hot topic here is like at what point do you start getting dressed even if it's like mentally so this spot because I heard some of the um LG's talking about the fact that they try on their outfit the night then the night before work so they prep the outfit and they've tried it on to me like I like yeah I'm such a reactive dresser so in the morning I like depending on how I'm feeling like I would sort of look at them and be like what sort of like am I liking this or am I not liking this and then I would just pick a piece I think okay you know I want to be more relaxed day I want to be comfy I've got a meeting I've got to put that blazer on but it's it's so how I'm feeling in the moment in the same way that when I'm packing for holiday, I will just pick the pieces that I love rather than in outfits.
38:18And I know that is like the least efficient way of packing, but I kind of, I want to be able to chop and change and just see what works at that time with how I'm feeling and not be so kind of formulaic. So for this outfit today, what was the piece? The shirt. I thought so. The shirt, yeah. You just knew you were wearing that. Yeah, and I feel like because I'm obviously, getting dressed is different now, like kind of building around a bump and you know the different stages of dressing a pregnant bump obviously at the beginning you're sort of like trying to hide it but you just sort of kind of feel much wider so what you felt comfortable before you also don't feel comfortable so you're sort of still wearing your clothes but the way you wear them just feels different now I'm at the stage where like it's very much out there and again like you know I used to I would tuck absolutely everything and try and draw as much attention to my waist because I'm very straight so a waist or like a tuck in just kind of gave me that shape whereas I obviously can't do that now so um a things are much longer just get just getting used to like a new silhouette so yeah this today focused on the shirt I like you know I wanted to kind of have a bit of color if we're calling this she's gone wild yeah crazy crazy i actually thought about doing a red knit with it oh my god i know i know that was too much that's wild for you i don't yeah i definitely don't spend a huge amount of time on my outfits and i think that's because i the decision making of the pieces that go in my wardrobe there's a lot more decision making in that part of it yeah so that i like to feel that then when i'm putting an outfit together it can be a mix and match and a quick thing because I know that you love it or they're just kind of outfit formulas that have worked again and again or pieces that I know I like I rarely repeat and exactly the same outfit the formula might be the same but the kind of head to toe exactly the same is very rare I'd repeat that wow I'm a real repeater of everything as one yeah I'm a repeater but I'm a quick succession repeater and then I might leave it for a while this outfit's a full repeat no I thought you had trousers on last time when you wore it no i had a different colored skirt on but i have a different outfit before okay well i mean it's an absolute banging outfit so it needs to be i was gonna say so why you just lean into that yeah just lean in i do a like if i've got a full outfit that i'm loving one day i might wear it for like three days immediately straight after oh yeah if i'm feeling it i had that last week oh yeah i had that last week i was like oh my god i love this outfit so much i literally what am i gonna do okay i'm gonna wear it again change the t-shirt obviously but exactly the same t-shirt because i have multiple of t-shirts if i like a t-shirt right the gap t-shirt that i talk about i have multiple of that so i was like change the t-shirt there was an alias skirt that i bought in a secret sample sale and i was like she just needs to come out again and again and again and then i'm like over her i might not see her for a while but i definitely lean in like that yeah but i understand it like it's in a you get obsessed i think it's like an emotional relationship i have i'm like yes i want to hang out with you let's hang out well and in the way that like the person you become when you're wearing that outfit no just like us together we're just like having fun i'm like let me make a video of myself walking down the street 5 000 videos of myself going nowhere i i generally don't think i've ever ever met anyone who enjoys getting dressed and clothes as much as you i'm obsessed i'm obsessed with clothes because i think that well i'm obsessed with the process i'm obsessed with clothes as objects i see them as third parties i don't see them as like they are like there i am here we're even gonna work we're gonna become friends we're gonna have a conversation it's to happen but I definitely go through a process with them you know we talk people talk about that what's that consciously uncoupling if I feel there's something that serves me I have to consciously uncouple from that there has to be a like yeah because otherwise I get the fear of God in me that I've allowed it to leave without much thought what if I want it back again oh like and then there's a whole process of self-hatred I got rid of it um like now I've got no clothes I often do that this is fascinating I sold a Simone Rocha I actually talking about it makes me feel sweaty I sold a Simone Rocha on Vinted and I'm a really good Vinted I write notes I'm like she we've had a great relationship enjoy I'm like have fun together like I'm one of those Vinted wrap it up bow everything I sold it to this girl that was kids my birthday present to myself I was like I love you like that and I literally it keeps me up at night once a month oh yeah what about the the Sermonush I sold it yeah and what made you decide to sell it because I hadn't worn it for two and a half years I'm like why is she there because I really want these like row loafers and maybe if I sell that that can go in the little pot for the row loafer so I did that did a couple of other things got the row loafer was then like thrilled for a second I was like yay the Sermonush bought that and then I was like oh my god which also is not it's kind of girl maths isn't it yeah so the row loafer and the sale on vintage that's not the same amount of money no Yeah, but it's sort of, it's fake credit.
43:22But then it's, then the roll over becomes half price. Exactly. Is that, yeah. Well, that's on a good day, yeah. Most of the time I'm like, phone up my best partner. I'm like, oh my God, I just sold that thing for$14.99. Let's go to the road. She's like, dude, that doesn't work out. I'm like, oh. But that's also like when you get a refund that comes in and you're like, oh my God, I've just been paid. Literally. I'm like, I'm bougie. I've got money gone out like Cardi B. I'm like, see ya. Have you ever tried to explain gal math to men? Oh, yeah, all the time. Yeah. They're totally flummoxed by the whole thing.
43:54They're like, what do you mean? I'm like, well, cash isn't not money. It's free. It's literally free. Yeah. It's free. It's paying me. I don't understand. No, no, no, no. That has a monetary value that this is currency. I'm like, you might say that to me. I think it's best we release them from understanding. Yeah. Because I think there's lots they understand. This they don't need to understand. They just need to have confidence in fact we're making the right decision. I hate it. I hate it when my husband really tries to understand something. I'm like, babe, it's okay in my head. I'm not asking you to make sense of it.

45:01Right, I've got some dilemmas for you. We're going to start with this one, which I feel like is eee-hee. My boyfriend is going on holiday with his ex. He says it was booked before we met and it's completely platonic. Do I trust him? The key bit of information, we don't know if that is just the two of them, which is an absolute no-go. Huge no. No, no, no. Hard no. Okay, so let's make this interesting then. Okay. Say he is going to a wedding where his ex will be there. You're only two or three months into dating. You aren't invited to the wedding, but she will be there. Yeah. How do you navigate that situation?
45:36I think you just have to hold your head high, let it go, but be on your A-game so you are just the best girlfriend in the lead up to that moment. Yeah. I think you're right. I think you've got to hold your power. Yeah. Because also, if you just let yourself get in your head on that, you've lost it. Yeah. And then you'll turn into something crazy. You know what I mean? Agreed. Totally. You'll just turn crazy. you've just got to hold your power yeah hold your shit together have confidence in the relationship let him do him and also he will find that attractive exactly and i think yeah i think that is really attractive and i think totally like no they broke up for a reason and then you're the new and like just be the best version of the new okay love this advice um this one is spicy my sister announced her pregnancy at my engagement party do i let it go no i think that's dark It is dark.
46:33I think that is dark. Also, why? I'd be asking myself, why is the sister announcing it? Why is she making that choice? That, to me, says potentially something more about... As the one that's at the wedding party, I'd be like, dude, are you hating on... I'd be like, what is our relationship? Is our relationship in trouble? So do you ask her then and there? Or how are you sounding that out? Well, I think you can't... In the moment, there's not much you can do. She's announced it. She's done it. But I think you'd have to discuss it with her. And how do you lead that conversation? Sorry, is it sister-in-law?
47:02No, sister. It's actual blood sister. Oh, yeah. I think then I would be fed up afterwards and just, like, have a conversation and be like... That's not cool. Yeah. I feel like if it was sister-in-law, that would be more tricky. Yeah. Because maybe you don't have the relationship to be able to sound it out and be really honest. Whereas I think if it's your sister, you can be like, babe. And maybe she was like, I had really no idea that you would care. Or I don't know, whatever. But I feel like you have to be honest with your family. Agreed. And look, you can like blame hormones and the rest of stuff going on.
47:33Maybe you just had a bit of a blip, but there's no way I would let that go. I think to your point about like, what would you say? I think I'd make it less about me being upset. And I think I would say to my sister, help me understand why you thought that was a good idea. Yeah, because both deserve their moment of celebration. Totally. I want to understand why did you think that was the moment to renounce your community? Help me understand. I would try and meet a sister with empathy. That's good to keep up with. Yeah. Should we end on a quick fun one? Okay, this is going to be a strictly yes or no answer.
48:05Okay. I found out my friend's fiance has been messaging another woman. She has no idea. Do I tell her or stay out of it? So you've got tell her, stay out of it. They're your only answers. Is that it? Tell her. Yeah, sorry, unfortunately. Then I'm going to have to tell her. Okay, so confirm we're all girls, girls. Yeah. Guys, we have covered so much in this conversation. I feel like I've been educated mainly on the length of the flip-flop phone. but I loved it thank you so so much for joining me on the podcast we hope that you guys loved it too and we'll see you again soon
