1:33Nana:Welcome back to the Sheerlux podcast, I'm your host Nana Achampong and today I'm joined by Lou and Jen and before we actually get into it I would like to talk through what everyone is wearing. Remember guys if you are listening on Spotify you can switch over to video and see exactly what we're wearing. Lou let's start with you. I feel like I'm sort of bridging pajamas I'm not this is like the most probably the most relaxed I've ever dressed yeah but it's going to be 35 degrees today um and this is the most comfortable set from Totem it's super lightweight when you kind of want something easy breezy but you don't want skin on show yeah um and such a gorgeous color I think also the craftsmanship it makes it non-pajamary yeah that detail is yeah and it's for those that can't see it's kind of like a cornflower blue within a burgundy stitch running through it yeah and then my favorite tiki's black sandals which um nana and i aren't in agreement but i could wear these all summer and we'll never wear another shoe again who'd be happy yeah no i would disagree agree to disagree on that one jane you look gorgeous thank you my shirt is from zara it's so comfortable yeah very breezy as well shorts at h &m denim white shorts the shoes are from a town in italy called polinano amare great maybe i don't know that's where they're from it's a really cute shop super cute and all it does is these shoes oh and i think they're all handmade and they're like 18 euros wow yeah you have to show them for this yeah they're like rope sandals they have all different colors and styles they're gorgeous um and my botox okay i'm just going to dress this before anyone else does it's quite fresh and i'm in the settling phase i can't tell so it's looking a bit bonkers right now because i look a bit lifted but um but it's i don't know if anyone if anyone hasn't had injectable toxins before i have it takes it can take a while for them to settle so about two weeks yeah so you can like a bit so my friend this weekend was like what's wrong with your face wait so at the beginning so like while it kind of settles and either contracts or relaxes the muscles yeah it it sort of takes a while for the toxins to disperse yeah okay and so they can kind of do funky things along their way oh god so at the moment they're a bit lifted here and a bit dropped here and then eventually it will all even out but yeah that's my that's my accessory okay crazy eyebrows you look great thank you if we're addressing those sort of things i in case you guys thinking wow lose hair looks so greasy i didn't wash my conditioner out properly and last night it was drying that and i was like why does it look like i've got oil in my hair and i was like did I rinse out the conditioner for longer?

4:13I can't remember. So that is why guys. That's so bummed out. I'm sorry, yeah.

4:17Nana:Both of you look great. Like can't tell either things that you're talking about. My outfit, I have got a green printed halter neck dress on from Cala de la Cruz and orange mules from Zara. Is that like part of the dress? Yeah, it's gorgeous. Yeah, little kind of swirly thing in the middle and it's backless as well. because again, yeah, it's 35 degrees today and I wanted as much skin on show as possible without making it office appropriate. I feel so grateful to work in an office where we can wear like beachy clothes or January clothes, whatever. Yeah, it's not like a corporate setting. Yeah, my friends that have to wear shirts and sort of trousers, they can't even wear, like even Bermuda shorts would be seen a bit.

5:00Nana:Yeah, a bit rogue. Even shoes, when I was listening to the team talk last week, they had the boys on, it was an SL podcast and the boys were talking about having your toes out and how like that's kind of for men yeah like it is tough I feel like in the summer we have got a way better gig with the flexibility that we can wear particularly in our office whereas actually in the winter I'm quite jealous of men that just everyday just wear a suit don't have to think about it but I do think there's a line to be drawn I think sometimes it can get a little bit relaxed and you sort of have to remember no I'm going to wear it yeah definitely there's outfits that like I would want to wear but I'm like no that's like yeah too short too easy exactly it's definitely for the beach yeah hey ladies we are going to talk about things that we are loving currently podcasts hotels restaurants Jen I'll start with you speaking of anti-aging I have recently started started taking it beyond my skin okay so I'm quite obsessed with my hair but I've been a bit lax about like future proofing it and it's something that's becoming a bigger conversation and beauty and longevity in hair care and there's a product that I've been using for about 10 weeks now which is all aimed exactly that so future proofing your hair loads of things contribute to hair aging it can be inherited it can be stress it can be the environment you live in k18's new product is called future iq it's a serum you use it every night for kind of minimum 12 of weeks to see a good difference and it's really easy to use I put it on before I go to bed I keep it with my toothbrush because to remember I just think if something's in your bedside table you're falling asleep by that point and if it's with a load of other products I do exactly the same with eyelash serum at least for the first few weeks to get you in a habit yeah you just massage it into your scalp it doesn't leave a residue so if you're not going to wash your hair the next day it's fine and basically it will help with resilience density and also which is kind of the biggest thing for me is gray hairs so gray hair is one of the final frontiers of beauty there's like two things for me that are two things in beauty that are still missing preventing gray hairs and boobs so just to touch on boobs quickly there's basically nothing you can do apart from have a boob job or left to help that currently and with hair with gray hairs unbelievably considering how far science has come in skincare and everything else to do with your body they still can't stop gray hairs this serum is one of the first products to really address that so the idea is you start using this to prevent the signs of aging from coming so it can help to prevent more gray hairs from appearing and what actually is a gray hair each follicle in your head yeah has a basically a process in it that produces pigment when your hair comes out and over time that little process just stops working for each follicle okay so it could be you know as I say it can be inherited it could be stressed but like once that process is switched off on that one follicle yeah it's gray interesting a study that k-team did with participants using this product 70 percent of participants saw fewer gray hairs after 12 weeks yeah that's a mega and I it's it's impossible to count them but my hairdresser who I go to get my hair dyed, which I now have to do, I have to do, but I now like to do about once every four to six weeks.

8:26Nana:She said the difference between the last time I came to this time. Yeah. She definitely noticed that she was seeing fewer gray hairs appear. Yeah. So over the past like few months, she's like, every time I go, she's like, there's more, there's more. Yeah. And this time she was like, it's not, you know, it's slowed down the process. Yeah. For sure. That's so good. I mean, I just didn't even think that hair aging was a thing we had to worry about. Just being a woman. I know. Listen, you do you. I mean, there are some women, especially in our industry, like Sarah Harrison, people with that, who really embrace their greys.

8:59Nana:She's completely, so she's 40, I'd say. And I think she went grey in her 30s, like the tail end of her 30s, but has completely embraced it. And it looks amazing. I love it. Just for me, my hair is like my safety net. and it's it always has been it's always been long it's always been dark yeah so i'm just not i'm not there yet so no this this serum i'm really excited about it also if hair loss is your worry or density the other stat that came out the research was that participants had up to 19 000 more hairs oh my gosh up here yeah using this over time so it when i um like four months postpartum yes my daughter i lost so much hair and i can't express how much it affected my confidence yeah i would like be fearful of washing my hair and brushing it all the time and like like you like my hair is also a big part of my identity and it's it's i can feel it's kind of growing back here now yeah um but i'm so nervous about having that again yeah and because it's never got back to what it was originally yeah and so yeah anything that is going to promote hair growth yeah yeah i would definitely try this does it work on all hair types it's been tested on all hair types yeah yeah so um i think if you my thing is is you know why not take your skincare beyond your face yeah and and if you're concerned about loss density or grays you've got to get on top of it before it gets too bad as like skincare as well prevention rather than cure exactly what are you loving at the moment Lou so I had a two-hour car journey on the weekend by myself and I used that as a time to listen to podcasts yeah and I listened to a new podcast by Kay Barron and Alice Casey Hayford which is called The Excellent Fit and they have some amazing guests and it's very much talking about you know their style um what what style kind of means to them yeah evolution their wardrobe etc and the one i listened to is with alex eagle who i am so obsessed with she is such an incredible creative inspiration across fashion lifestyle you know the hotel industry yeah anyway i really enjoyed it um obviously k and alice are ex-missive porcay yeah they know everything about the fashion and have got some really great guests on yeah and i just saw them announce they've got raven smith on yeah and i'm like i love him yeah yeah so yeah it's a really good one yeah that they've just launched but i feel like amazing guests yeah so it was a really good i just kind of like buckled in and yeah listen i just love people talking about fashion yeah and style with so much passion and you know the creativity that goes into the decision process and particularly with alex and you know i think sometimes we can get so caught up in other people's aesthetics and seeing things on social media yeah we're so swamped with yeah it's an overload totally i think sometimes it can make you question oh what i like to wear that what i like to wear that and i think when you hear people talk about it with so much consideration and it really like so much of what alex was saying really resonated with me yeah and i came away just feeling really inspired and i wanted to go it's almost like when hodge and i do the wardrobe tours yeah and you know you just you you feel so inspired when you see people speaking in their element about something that they're really passionate about and it feels so natural to them i find it inspiring really inspiring so yeah really I need to listen to that one.

12:49Nana:Yeah. They both have really gentle, soothing voices. They do. Yeah. They do. Oh my God. I started to literally listen to her like all day. Yeah. Yeah. They're really good. They bounce off each other really well. Yeah. And they were saying they've like worked together pretty much every day for like the last 10 years or something. Yeah. So that's a nice natural fit. Yeah. And I think just, you know, people talking about their outfit choices. Yeah. I think sometimes you assume it's kind of thrown on, but there is a kind of, there's a thing that's gone behind it. even even kind of subconsciously yeah about what you've put on to present yourself and how much about what you wear is also about how you're presenting yourself to that person yeah your outfit is the first thing that gets introduced even before you've opened your mouth yeah totally i uh oh my gosh this is really really niche but the thing that i've been loving so first of all i've been in south africa i was in cape town it looked amazing which was absolutely incredible nice little work trip I say little because we were there for two days you guys watching the sunset on the beach was just so cute yeah it was adorable it was yeah it was magical I say my only regret was that we stayed in the most incredible hotel but I wasn't there for much of it because we were out doing stuff Hod was running a tight ship she was running a very tight ship yeah her and Steph they were all over it but it was the one and only in Cape Town and honestly one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.

14:18Nana:The friendliest star. Is it on the beachfront? It's yeah, the V &A waterfront. It's there. So that was really nice because the mornings that I'd like kind of had a bit of time I'd get up even earlier and go down and watch the sunrise. The rooms were basically probably triple the size of this where we're filming this podcast. Massive bath, dressing up area, balcony that looked like we'd cross onto the river. But the thing that did it for me was the staff. They were the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. Like nothing was too much. And every time they said hello to you, they put their hand on their heart.

14:55Nana:So love. Like it was just the cutest thing. You just felt so sincere and just so lovely. You wanted to make friends with them all. When you feel so genuinely welcomed in a hotel, I think it makes such a difference. I think hotels have got so expensive these days. It's absolutely wild. And I think all of those little things, things like they have to take be taken into consideration how they all add up to the whole experience and funnily enough i saw um i think it was on tiktok someone was saying oh i'll just book a hostel because i'm only sleeping there and oh yeah in the morning yeah i've seen and it's that it's not it's not like even you know when you're on holiday you don't unless you're having kind of fly and flop and you're literally yeah you don't often spend that much time in the hotel particularly if it's like a city break yeah but to me like a hotel breakfast and the bed are the the most important things in the hotel literally the bed was phenomenal like i wish i'd had more hours sleep in it the pillows it was yeah it was like king size and you just melted it felt like sleeping on a cloud the breakfast i cannot tell you how many different stations there were like i take breakfast very seriously as well that's the ultimate yeah like judgment yeah it's like a three-course meal because you want like i want to start off with i want to try everything yeah I start off with some fruit, then the savoury, and then I have breakfast dessert.

16:12Nana:Quite right. Wait, what's breakfast dessert? Like pancakes. Yeah, or like if I had their French toast. Delicious. But they had oysters. For breakfast? At breakfast, there were oysters. And champagne, I assume. Yeah, yeah, Bloody Marys, like everything. Did you have one? No, I love an oyster, but I was like, this is a step. It's a bit much, it's a bit early. Yeah, I was like, it is a step too far. Like one of the days we were having breakfast at like 7am, or like actually earlier than that, because we were going for a hike. True. So yeah, it was a little bit taller, but yeah, they had the breakfast station there.

16:42Can I ask you guys a question? We were having a debate about this the other day. Okay. Whether you take lunch from breakfast, like do you make a little roll?

16:50Nana:I don't, but the day that we were leaving, I took lots of cookies. Okay. Like I'll take a croissant. Okay. Or I'll take something. But you wouldn't certain situations. Skiing, maybe not so much anymore, but when I was younger, like, you know, skiing is so expensive. Yeah, you're on a budget. It's so expensive when you're in those resorts. so yeah skiing I'd steal some food yeah and then also sometimes if I'm flying that day and I'm in the lounge yeah and I might have some friends that I will bring them I will smuggle them out some nice lounge pastries yeah but my other niche what I've been loving I did a peloton class at the but a live Peloton class at their studio.

17:34Nana:And there's only, you can only really get excited about this if you have a Peloton and are really into the instructors. Yes, they're over from America. They're over from America. Yeah. So my favorite instructor was over. And honestly, like I've met major celebrities. I was losing my mind. Who was it? Alex Husson. Okay. So he is, he's just a really great hype guy. And it was a tread class. So Polly obviously has got one of the Peloton treads from which she was training for the Hackney half. And I had never used one before. They're amazing. I think it's so clever how they've made the instructors like celebrities.

18:10Because there's also that thing of then you want to impress them. So you want to work as hard as you can.

18:16Nana:Completely. Like he shouted me out at one point. I was like, stop. Yes, I'm going to run faster. And it was only 30 minutes. Thank God. I was absolutely, I had sweat in my eye. like there was sweat coming from every pore um but yeah really great was a good playlist yeah i think they've got them over for a couple of weeks actually the instructors so that was really fun and then there was like a little meet and greet i got a picture

18:45Nana:we are now moving on to fashion finds what have you found currently so there's a brand called valesque who do these really beautiful very simple satin square little sort of rectangle bags it's got a leather handle at the top and they can't i think they there's a pink a gold and navy and then they had some larger sizes they sold out immediately and they just had a restock on the weekend so i got the gold and the navy just because i'm not sure which one i want to keep so added both to basket um and i don't really love an evening bag i feel like often they're just there's there's either they're a funny shape you can't really hold on to properly they don't really yeah they don't really feel fit anything can you get the clutches that they look lovely I think yeah you can't actually fit your phone in no and weirdly I don't like a big day bag because I feel like I overfill it but then almost in the evening I almost have the same amount of stuff to take I'd like to just kind of have backups of makeup just in case it never gets used but I like it just never gets used no even on my wedding day I did not touch my makeup up once on my wedding day it was kind of pre-ish the content era so maybe now i'd be more concerned but like no i had i think i had a lip balm in my pocket and i didn't use it once but no you don't think about it it's good to have the options yeah safety net anyway these bags are just like perfect just kind of throw the little bits in and they're just super cute it's the type of thing that definitely i would show my mom and she'd be like i could make that for you darling like it's so but and like the the row also have a very similar shape which is very very simple yeah but so exquisite so those there's also a new bag from brand called freya which is kind of more of a good work bag i think getting a new bag in september is the equivalent of getting a new pencil case yeah 100 yeah you kind of you feel like the adult version yeah exactly yeah okay Exactly.

20:38That's kind of what you're ready to start the new term with. Yeah. Your new handbag. And it's a really good work bag. It's black, kind of like a bowling bag shape, but it's got a bit more structure to it. And very, very simple. White long sleeve tees. Yeah. They, I, I did a question box on my Instagram on the weekend and I had so many questions asking about just this one white Henley that I was wearing. Yeah. and I don't know there's something about it being long-sleeved very simple which is just a bit cooler than a t-shirt yeah yeah it's like kind of preppy yeah like I like and just a bit more oversized and I actually find a henley on a man the most attractive item really yeah I don't know what it is yeah and he's got one gray one from gap which is really really old every time he wears I'm like, bits.

21:28So yeah, I think like a white Henley, there's that white waffle top from With Nothing Underneath, which is such a good shape. A range, I've got a really good one from ASOS, which is, it's quite thick. I think you want a bit more of an oversized fit. Yeah, like drop shoulders. Yeah, I think kind of, at the moment, I feel like the trend for tees are kind of slightly more fitted and it's slightly more of a kind of baby tee, 90s shape and then oversized long sleeve tee. and I think they just kind of added sort of relaxed ease to a look you know even if you've got like you know a satin skirt or sequins yeah it just kind of makes it makes it feel a bit more I actually didn't try that much yeah but I still look really cool yeah exactly Jen what have you

22:12Nana:picked out I have recently got an aura ring which I'm really loving and it's the new one which is smaller and I do think it looks nice it's the slimmest one they've ever had it is but it's taking up real estate where i could have other jewelry yeah that's my only issue with it so i know i've seen them before but there's a few brands that do these sort of jackets yeah or things that go around yeah so there's one brand which has this really beautiful one which is real gold and it's um it your ring sort of inserts inside it so it's quite chunky and it has these little pave diamonds on each side i think it's about two grand but it's a proper piece of jewelry it's not just you know it's not as far as I want it's but it is it's a probably it's like a solid gold ring with diamonds it's beautiful and then there's another brand called Steffley off which are I think gold platers are more affordable and they're a bit more um kind of architectural fluid kind of fun they have different gemstones in them so I'm thinking about getting one of those just to kind of yeah pimp my ring yeah what about you Nana um I've gone to shoes again guys I know I know She's got a problem.

23:14Nana:I have got a serious problem. I also need to stop buying like zebra print shoes because I've got too many pairs. But I have seen not too similar, Paris, Texas. Oh yeah, great brand. I was actually shopping at the sale. Well done. For Paris, Texas. So not too similar to the mules I've got on now, but they're lime green. I don't have a pair of lime green shoes. Well, you needed them. That's allowed. It's a must. It's an absolute must. Everyone needs to have a pair of lime green mules in their wardrobe. I actually thought of you, Nana. I had in my basket a pair of leopard print cape boots, which were on sale.

23:48They were, I think, like 60 % off. There was one left of my size. Wow. And I was going through to basket, and it kept saying there was an error. Yeah. I said, what on earth is going wrong? Anyway, I then had to refresh it, refresh it, and then it was like, these shoes are so loud. And I was like, who? Who drinks those? I said, was it, Nana?

24:06Nana:I actually got this coming to the office. Do they have a heel? Yeah, they have a heel. but I thought well I thought a Nana would be really proud of me and then I was like I bet this is Nana on the other day I can confirm I did not get them unfortunately but they sound great stealing off someone else's feet yeah but unfortunately whilst I was shopping the sale you then also see full price and their new collection is stunning they've got another pair of I'd say they're kind of Dalmatian print but reverse so it's black with little white dots closed toe mules really sky high and i just think those i'd wear them now like a pony skin material yeah yeah i'd wear them now but for autumn winter they will be like absolutely so can you do all levels of height with heels pretty much yeah it just like it depends what i'm doing yeah like there's day heels yeah yeah then hiking heels hiking heels airport heels airport heels beach Heels we saw last week.

25:08Nana:We did see beach. Do you ever do a wedge? I used to. I haven't. Oh, actually, no, I do do a wedge. I've got some Dries Van Norton wedges. I don't usually do heels on the beach. That was just, we were like running around. But Carter Dinner Heels as well. Yes. Yeah, for sure. Podcast heels. Podcast heels. Yeah. Exactly. You're just sitting down. Yeah, yeah, totally. And then, yeah, Topshop have got some really great heels in at the moment. and it's bringing me back to when Topshop was in Oxford Circus. Going down to the shoe store used to be one of my favourites and I really feel like they're bringing that energy back online.

25:46Nana:They've got a really great selection of shoes at the moment. So good. Do you know where else was so good was New Look. The New Look at Marble Arch you'd go up those stairs and they had the shoe lounge at the top. And I used to get some amazing shoes in there. They were really, really good. Oxford Street just used to be the best. the best um it is so exciting seeing the autumn bits kind of creeping through like i know it's still hot right now but i had like a little moment the other day where it's like it was a little bit fresh in the morning yeah oh i'm just so excited for september i'm like crying i'm trying not to wish it away that's the thing i'm like excited about it but i'm trying to really i'm going on holiday in two weeks and my husband keeps being like oh my god i can't wait and i'm like yes but like let's enjoy the next two weeks as well it's not the longest summer because it's been lovely for so long.

26:31Nana:Oh my gosh, I want summer to last until the end of September. I want summer to last until Christmas and just hop straight into Christmas. No, like September and October are so peak because it's like a little bit cold. You know, it's like coat with your legs out. It'd be wet though. Or just like not a coat and jumper and jeans and shit. Easier for styling. Yeah. I would like, I'm really, want to enjoy August and like live in the present. Yes, exactly. But also, I'd like it to continue till like, at least like mid-September. Hey Chicago, class it up with Crocs. You know back to school is coming in fast.

27:06Nana:So why wait to find your new fave footwear? Step into a local Crocs store and step into your new look. Try it, style it, make it yours. Because the right pair doesn't just show up, it shows off. First day fits, handled. Walk out ready for whatever's next. Visit your nearest Crocs store today.

27:33Nana:quick reminder please make sure that you subscribe wherever you listen to your podcast it really does help us out and we're just eternally grateful we are moving on to our favorite celebrity moments of the week there's been a lot going on i think we're going to start off with the Beckhams so David Beckham Victoria every year do their family holiday they are on their yacht in the south of France currently Brooklyn also on holiday in the south of France with his godfather Elton John you know might have heard of him they narrowly missed each other in Saint-Tropez at the weekend by five minutes so they all respectively got off their yachts had a little stroll around Saint-Tropez.

28:20Nana:I think they were getting ice cream or something. Yeah, they could have bumped into each other. Do we think that was accidental? Well, it could be three things. It's just a mad coincidence. Yeah. And lucky they didn't see each other. Definitely not. They have PAs that converse with each other and make sure that they don't see each other. Yeah. Possible. I think that's correct. C, is it on purpose and is it a publicity stunt? Do they need any more publicity? Yeah, I do. also there's been so much about this so much this family yeah yeah i don't think it needs any more airtime yeah i think it's that they've got people they've got a good team kind of checking they've got people with headsets yeah going yeah go go go yeah roger roger yeah yeah you can go for ice cream now yes no time to get pistachio yeah um but interesting with elton he's obviously taken a neutral territory there hasn't he because i don't think he's fallen out with the beckhams as far as we know.

29:18Nana:So he's obviously gone. But also, yeah, I think that's good that he's continuing his role as Godfather. You know, he's obviously a friend of the Beckhams, but then he's also Godfather to Brooklyn and not going to kind of diminish that role because of the server. So I think that's well done. Yeah, no, that's really nice that he's on holiday with his Godfather, Elton John. But also imagine being there. Imagine if you saw both sets, you'd be like, oh my God, are they here together? Because I just saw them both. Do you reckon all the staff on the yachts are like talking too? because that I've never watched Below Deck but isn't that all about like stuff from yachts and just all the shenanigans they get up with and they must all, it must be a network.

29:52Nana:They must all text each other. The stories you must hear. We've seen so many celebrities doing yacht holidays this summer. Like, is it enjoyable? I don't know. I don't know, like how much is that for show? Because I think there's obviously like, you know, they get the pics on the gram. Yeah. There's a prestige that obviously comes with a yacht holiday, the guests you have on it. but how enjoyable is it like it's quite an enclosed space yeah yeah i don't know if i would actually want to i wonder if some of them are like on the yacht in the day and then staying in a hotel at night or yeah i mean i know that really yeah you could do that so you can't get away from anyone no it is it's quite intense also i feel like those you know the photo shoots where they're like hosing themselves yeah like they know when those paps oh my gosh 100 % and they're like jumping off yeah it's like you're producing a whole like yeah show it's very much like look at me i've got this mega yacht and i'm having this insane holiday you could go to a private island or you could have a private holiday but you are choosing to yeah be papped but but also like with a hope maybe it's something to do also with controlling the environment you know obviously you're staying in a hotel there's going to be other guests yeah around like at least it's just you the team you want you want that you want there so maybe there's a certain level of like you know this is my private space yeah obviously you can dock and go wherever they want to actually and the understanding that you know i'm going to get some hot pat fix yeah yeah and flex and everyone's going to see me but there's going to be no one at breakfast like taking pictures of exactly they are eating my three cores that's a good question do you think they're stealing a bread roll i literally taking my napkin and i'm like right just layer it up with some cookies you don't want to be seen i'm so like shoving it up my sleeve like nothing to see here yeah they're not having to do that another celebrity moment i want to talk about callum turner who obviously has recently married dua callum turner has apparently been quoted saying that he wants to reduce the amount of kissing roles that he now does because obviously he's married to one of the most beautiful women in the world however you are also an actor and that's your job also he has done quite a lot of rom-com i feel like i've seen him kissing in quite a lot of things yeah yeah his new film that's coming out one night only one night only yeah with monica barbero i mean there's a lot of snogging yeah i mean like love the respect to do it yeah but then that's obviously a total shift in you are also limiting yourself quite a lot because yeah you If a film doesn't have kids, even if it's an action movie or a war movie or a political movie, it's always a thing when there's like, oh, there's not a single kiss in this film.

32:43Nana:Yeah. Like, so what kind of movies is he going to be making? Yeah. And also, just don't cut yourself off. Also, he can't then be James Bond. No. Oh, good point. Maybe that's why, maybe he's not got the role. And he's setting himself up and he's like, well, I would have had it for the reason I've not got it. I have to say that when I like when you watch actors in those scenes, I know obviously they always say it's, you know, not an intimate experience. But there's so much crew around. Yeah, there couldn't be any passion there. But surely sometimes there is. I'm just like, well, is the man? Does the man not get excited?

33:17Nana:Does he not get excited sometimes? Like, have I had like... I mean, Brad and Angelina, guys, that is the epitome of having kissing on set and then it goes a little bit. And when you watch that film, the chemistry is insane. I know, it's off the chain. So yeah, like you say, I feel like sometimes their kissing is meant to be like, oh, it's not anything. But actually, it can slip into. Totally. Also, I know it's acting, but for example, if someone said to me, your husband is just going to just kiss somebody with no relationship, nothing there. That makes me feel physically sick. But I just watched The Invite last week, if you've seen it.

33:56Nana:with um so it's the liver wild film seth rogan olivia wild and seth rogan um invite their neighbors from upstairs down and it's ed norton and penelope cruz and there there's this very it's so i mean i haven't seen ed norton in a film in so long it's so good so much and it's i'm not giving anything away but essentially they are a really sexy modern open-minded couple and olivia wild and seth rogan are kind of always bickering and arguing at each other's throats and this couple come down and they're basically like they proposition them to have a foursome yeah and one of the things that they're saying is that you know if Seth Rogen's like don't you don't get jealous and she's like no because I love seeing my husband get pleasure like it brings me pleasure getting pleasure but then there's a scene where they kind of separate off yeah and it's it's hilarious I'm not going to give it away but it's so funny but I was thinking like I think at that moment I think I would like try to be sexy and cool about it.

34:55Nana:Yeah. But I'd be like, oh God, what if her nipples are nicer than mine? Or like, I don't know, what if she kisses better than me? Like, you know, it's just, I think you have to be so secure in yourself. Oh my God, totally. And I would think Dua Lipa is probably pretty secure in itself. Maybe not. But what are they thinking in that moment? Are they sort of losing themselves in the characters so they're not themselves anymore? Yeah. But then surely there is, I don't know. I feel like we need to get like an actor on. yeah well yes on what it is I would love that yeah and just have that conversation yeah where does your head go did you get a boner yeah you've got the heart hit aggression literally there have been people that have come out now that made films in like the 70s and stuff I'm sure that have said like oh yeah no we actually I'm sure I've read things where people have said oh actually we did have sex yeah really yeah like films from like the 60s and 70s I think there was a couple of them where people I mean I feel like there's been a lot of series recently where you know it's been so hot to watch and you know there's been so much focus on the intimacy coordinators and what they did and you know the positioning of their hands and everything is so scripted and I'm sure there's a huge part of that but I'm sure there is a small percentage where it's just like you both are vibing off each other and you know the chemistry well there's so many like couples now that obviously met on set so it does well Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem did yeah hot couple Zendaya, Tom Holland I know we've spoken about them loads but yeah yeah do you remember when Matthew McGonaghy came out saying that you know he was in obviously all the rom-coms yes and he wanted to be taken seriously as an actor so he started turning down the roles for like the rom-coms and like he gave some figures some insane figures about what they were offering from yeah for a role and it was like like 10 million no 15 million no yeah 20 million okay I'll read the script again no um and then obviously all of his big roles came along Dallas Buyers Club Dallas Buyers Club exactly which have kind of catapulted him into another league of actors so maybe maybe he's trying to say yeah in an also another you know I don't want to be a sort of pigeonhole as this type of actor I want to do more serious things maybe yeah I could definitely work out for him but you're not James Bond

37:13Nana:Jen hot topic what have you got for me yeah so Elton John I think has like 60 Godchildren I don't know if I'm making that up I'm pretty sure King Charles has 60. Elton John has a lot. I, I don't know the word, gained, was betrothed with. I was, I became, I was honoured to receive my seventh this weekend. Wow. So I went to the christianity. Congratulations. Thank you. And I love it. Yeah. And I actually. I think it's a massive personality flex. Thank you. I think like people saying like you are the type of person. If anything happens. Like traditionally that, that kind of is what a godparent is.

37:49you know we would want you to look after a child also I feel like there's a you know you've got wisdom kindness you're going to be there for them yeah I think it's a real flex I mean I think

38:00Nana:thank you I also um don't have kids of my own so I think people are like you're going to give them more attention than other people which we do I mean we do we have between my husband and I we have 12 children and um and I think they potentially think we have more disposable income which we don't um but and i'm i'm i i love it and i have would never say no to the people that have asked me so far but someone this weekend was like because they think you love it so much yeah what if someone asked you who like you weren't that good friends with or like i don't know you didn't want to be i just don't know how you would how tricky you could possibly i don't know how you could say no without it just being a relationship ruiner yeah they're never going to retrieve the i don't listen i would i would like three more i want to get to 10 well just because i feel like that's a nice number when when you hear of friends who are pregnant you sort of like i ramp up the friendship i do i'm ashamed of you i'm like i'm there for them i'm rubbing their ankles

39:05Nana:no i didn't know i do love it and i love children as well so it's really fun to be like that fun presence have they all been like traditional godparents and that like they've been christened so of the seven five of them have been i'm also not religious yeah um so the first person that ever asked me they were like oh they thought i was going to say no because i i wasn't religious not religious but i was like it's such an honor yeah totally um and i'm happy to stand in church yeah and i really respect you know yeah yeah i kind of think outside of the church thing so um we have two for my daughter and we haven't like we're not religious we haven't christened bobby so there's been no like official ceremony yeah yeah it's more we've just kind of asked two of our friends as a kind of what i said like you know you're the the kind of the person that we would want her to be this figure in her life yeah and it's kind of nothing like you know rooted in religion or anything but it's more just a mark of like our friendship and and the role and it's so lovely because it's a real testament to your friendship with the parents like I you're basically saying like I think you're going to be around with us the rest of my life yeah and I have had three godparents and none of them are really only sorry one of them's around still in terms of in my parents life like there was a divorce and the wife you know isn't around anymore but my um husband's godmother and godfather two of them he now as an adult has really good relationships with one of them um owns a really successful business and she gives him loads of business advice and we go and stay with her and the you know the godfather takes some holiday and i think there's that really nice there'll be a period in fact one of my godchildren she's 10 and um she's starting to get i'm not that cool anymore like i'm getting on the cusp of like you know i don't have things to talk to her about anymore yeah but then i think maybe when she's 18 it'll come back around yeah so i'm excited about that and also i think just having another adult figure that's not you within your family yeah yeah and you can have like open conversations with or yeah they can give you different advice from not being within the family and i think it's really important to have those other role models in your life who aren't your family at every stage of your life you know not even just you know when you're a teenager when you're an adult and as you said yeah people also also aren't sometimes as close with their parents yeah it's important to have those other figures yeah definitely yeah i mean i always loved having my grandparents because it meant more money yeah i get them the stuff that their parents won't get them as well yeah always like when it plastic toys yeah okay you know not not the drugs and alcohol but like the plastic toys and you know like i've said to them like the list yeah yeah you've taken it yeah i did I was taking one of them out.

41:55Nana:I stayed at my friend's house and I was like, I'm going to take her for a little day out to the two of us. And she was like, that's fine. And she was like, what are you doing? I was like, oh, it's a secret. You know, I was just taking her shopping for clothes. And I was like, oh, but I might get her ears biars. And the mum was like, what? No, you can't do that. I was like, obviously I'm not going to do that without asking you. But when it comes to it, you know, things like that. When it comes to like birthdays and Christmas, do you have to spend the same amount on each of them? Like, is there any favoritism?

Read the full transcript

42:21Nana:Yeah. Is there? no there's definitely but you have favorites yeah i've got favorites yeah i've got favorites um but no it's more just about what they what they want yeah yeah and as they get older those things get more expensive it's a lot because i also have so i've got the gold children but i also have five nieces and oh wow so i'm actually at seven as well yeah i've got none of those and then there's also just my friends any one of my friends that has a kid i'm an auntie like yeah actually I'm your auntie love that yeah my list like every Christmas I have a list on my phone of all the presents I need to buy and every year it's just getting longer and longer when I used to go away like on holiday or like a work trip I'd be buying stuff in whatever country that had to stop because I was away too much and then there was like too many people so I was like you have to draw a line somewhere no it's a real privilege but yeah I think the consensus is you can't say no no you can't say no No, definitely.

44:08Nana:moving on to dilemmas lastly guys so the first one i've got for you my boyfriend earns three times my salary but wants to split everything 50 50 is this fair everything it depends if you live together like i think if you live together and you're paying a rental mortgage i don't think that's fair because that's a huge part of your income going out yeah but i think maybe dinners and things it depends as well like how it might be three times the salary but are you already earning a significant salary yeah or are you earning a lot less yeah are you really really struggling yeah and then they really aren't yeah like where's the line with that yeah also how long have you been together yeah um a lot of variables there's a lot of variables yeah but i think if you're earning 30 grand and he's only 90 and you're paying 2 000 pounds for rent let's say in london i don't think it's fair yeah yeah i think that you know there can be in that instance like it's a percentage of your salary yeah so you're both yes taking the same amount off what you would then have had that kind of seems a bit more fair and balanced but i think talking financially the particular beginning relationship is really hard i know and like you say if you're living together yeah and if you have different values on it i think it's often something that's really hard to be completely honest with but i think it's really important to have those honest conversations about where you kind of sit around money because it's totally individual and i think some people are also quite proud yeah and like do you know what I don't want you to feel like you've kind of paved the way for me I want to go 50 50 on everything and show you know so and other people are like no no no yeah it should be right so I think it's it's what balance yeah yeah and what feels important to you I think I think also more importantly to me would it would be is he a generous person in other ways yeah exactly so if he's just sensible and really you know some people are just a bit miserly with money and that's fine but is he being generous in other ways like is he generous with his time is he generous with his friends yeah does he bring you home supermarket flowers yeah that if you're he's not doing those things it's a red flag i think yeah next one i have just found out that i'm pregnant i want to tell my best friend but she is currently going through some fertility trouble how do i break it to her it is really hard being on the receiving end of pregnancy announcements when you are trying and it's nothing to do with not being happy for that person and you can be you can be happy and sad at the same exactly so i would say text that person because i think it's really important to give that person just the space and the head and the time to just process it because i think sometimes your immediate reaction might not be a what you want to give your friends yeah and what you want from them either yeah so I just think out of respect you know it's it's sad because it's probably something that you really want to share with them and you're super happy with them I think just out of respect for both parties to get maybe the response that you want yeah just text I think that's a really nice way to do it definitely and like you say you are always going to be happy for your friend but you just might need a minute that's the thing giving them time i think that's exactly sorry to put it yeah because they also don't want to i'm sure then upset you by being upset exactly exactly yeah well congratulations yes my boyfriend's female best friend calls him every day am i being insecure or is she crossing the line or is he picking up is she just calling him and calling him because if he's not thinking yeah that's a bit weird um I will speak on this one because I have got quite a few male best friends I wouldn't say I speak to them every day and I'm friends with their girlfriends as well so I don't think it's crossing a line it's just a really like I value those relationships as much as I value like my girlfriends as well so it depends on your relationship I think and on what he's like like I don't know any men that speak to their that speak to anyone every day so that would be really unusual yeah if a girl was calling them every day but but if he's a really communicative person and speaks on the phone with his friends all the time then that's a green flag I think he's a great Like that's normal.

48:38Nana:It's a great friend. Yeah. No, definitely. So it depends, I think, on his character. Yeah. And I also think maybe your relationship with the girl. Yeah. And if that feel, like, are you guys friends? Is that a comfortable relationship? Is there any history? Yeah. No, definitely. Like I'm always friends with like their girlfriends as well. Or if they get a new girlfriend, like I will make sure I'm friends with them. Because you need to put. 100%. And I think they also need to understand that that is a platonic relationship. It's like, there's nothing. There's nothing there. Yeah, they're like my little brothers.

49:13Yeah. I know. You're like gross. Yeah, literally.

49:17Nana:But also I love you. Yeah. So yeah, I think that maybe, like you said, it's the everyday thing and what the scale is. Yes. What's he like? Yeah. Yeah. Is that normal for him? Yeah. Oh my gosh, that is it, guys. Oh, that was fun. That was so fun. You could just chat all day as always. But that is it for this week's episode. Thank you so much for joining the conversation. The trio share the products they're genuinely loving right now, including a groundbreaking new hair serum designed to future-proof your hair, the fashion podcast currently inspiring their wardrobes, the work bags and evening accessories worth investing in, plus the autumn pieces already on their wish lists. Nana also reveals the Cape Town hotel she can't stop thinking about, why hotel breakfasts are an experience in themselves and what happened when she finally took a live Peloton class with one of her favourite instructors.

Elsewhere, they discuss Brooklyn Beckham's near miss with David and Victoria in the south of France, Callum Turner's comments about kissing scenes after marrying Dua Lipa and whether celebrity yacht holidays are really all they're cracked up to be. Plus, they answer your dilemmas, from splitting finances in a relationship to navigating pregnancy announcements, opposite-sex friendships and the responsibilities that come with being a godparent.
