0:00Hebah Baker:On today's podcast, we talk about our health and wellness obsessions. It is all over my social media. It's the David Beckham promoted supplement, which is meant to be incredible. It has all the nutrients that you need. The current fashion brands we're loving.

0:14Hanya Alkhamis:I am obsessing over this brand, Rowan Rose. Oh yeah. Don't know that. She is like honestly my favorite at the moment.

0:22Tamar Jabi:And the celebrity news everyone's talking about. I don't know why, I just feel like she's my bestie. Olivia Dean. Wow. What an icon. First of all, she's iconic. Yeah.

0:41Hebah Baker:Hello and welcome to the Sheer Luxe Middle East podcast. I'm your host, Tamara Javi, and today I'm joined by my lovely team members, Hibba Baker, Talib Rulimjian, and today we have Hanya El-Khamis, all the way from Kuwait. Thank you for having me. Welcome. So excited to have you, Hanya, as usual. I mean, last time we came on the pod, we had such a fun chat. They had to shut us up. We were on for like, I think, three hours chatting. And they were like, we need to edit this down to two. Like, it was nice to chat to you.

1:07Tamar Jabi:We're so happy to have you on. I'm so excited to be here. I missed you guys. We missed you too. I'm so happy to be here with you all in this beautiful place.

1:14Hebah Baker:I know. How gorgeous is this hotel? Gorgeous. It's so, so beautiful. So we're at the Lana today. Very lucky to us with the most amazing views of the city. It's gorgeous. Best view I think we've had for a podcast. Yeah. You guys look amazing. Please, let's talk through your outfits. Hany, we'll start with you.

1:30Tamar Jabi:Okay, my outfit is a super trying, cool girl vibe. Not trying. You look amazing. I nailed it. It's good. So I'm wearing this blazer. I mean, like this jacket is from Magda Buterin. I got it on sale from Boutique N, which is a good find, honestly.

1:47Hanya Alkhamis:You need to hook us up with your sales that you have. Like, send us your options.

1:52Tamar Jabi:On it. I'm on it. and the shirt is Masimu Dutti. The skirt is Reformation from Unas. My heels are Jude. So nice. And I guess your earrings are heaven made. Yes, from Unas as well. So gorgeous. Where is your black ring from? It's from an Indian designer. I forgot the name. Jaypur. Something from someone from Unas. Thank you. Yeah, gorgeous jewelry stack. I love. Thank you. Thank you. And what about you, Tal? I love this look too.

2:18Hebah Baker:You're also in a lace. We're kind of matching. Yeah, I guess we got the memo. No, the necklace is mango. The turtleneck is also mango. Very nice.

2:28Hanya Alkhamis:I love the sleeve detail. It's very delicate and pretty. The earrings are pre-gomesh, which is an Armenian brand. The skirt also with the lace detail is Zara. And my boots are my other stories that I've abused this month. I mean, you've committed to wearing heels this year. I did. I wore flats maybe one time. That's okay. The one time is fine.

2:53Hebah Baker:So Tal promised that she would wear heels for 2020. So it's my New Year's wrestling. And she's been committing to it. That's amazing. I love it. Thanks. What about you, Hibba, in yellow?

3:02Hanya Alkhamis:Yes, yellow is having a comeback, so I'm all for it. This trench blazer is from Naked. Shorts, they're leather shorts from Arrange. They have such nice pieces. This asymmetric top is from Mango, and my heels are from ASOS. I love it. I love the tonal look. it's so hard how do you find it in each exact shade though are you nervous i just know i love piecing things together and my old boss told me he's like how do you find like the same color full shades of every outfit and completely different stores like so so not the same so

3:35Hebah Baker:that's that's like my itch it's an itch like if i find one piece so i started with the shorts

3:41Hanya Alkhamis:and then i had to match everything and then i'm like yes i found yeah it's perfect you did look

3:46Hebah Baker:That's so good. Thank you so much. Tell us about your look. I'm wearing a simple blaze black, I mean black suit, Pugasa is my top and then my pants are limed just because I couldn't iron my pants one time. That's a dilemma. Can we stop ironing?

4:00Hanya Alkhamis:Because I spent at least 30 minutes ironing all my clothes today and I hate getting into the car and wearing my seatbelt and then everything.

4:09Hebah Baker:And I don't like to leave the house with creased outfits. Like I just, it's my pet peeve.

4:18Hebah Baker:So speaking of recent purchases, I am now trying this new supplement called I Am 8. Have you heard of this? I have heard of it. It is all over my social media. It's the David Beckham promoted supplement, which is meant to be incredible. It has all the nutrients that you need packed into one supplement and it has all these amazing benefits. I've had friends that have told me they've been on it for two months and they said they've seen a huge improvement in their digestive health, in their sleep patterns, like everything. and it's been so positive. So I'm only on like week one, so I feel like I haven't really experienced it to the max.

4:51Hebah Baker:But people have said it's incredible. So it's something that I think a lot of people will vouch that they thought would be just a celebrity endorsed brand, but actually is amazing. Are there specific types like men, women, or is it just one? It's just one for all, but it has everything that you need.

5:09Tamar Jabi:Speaking of health and fitness, me and my friends were on TikTok and we were like we found this video and on a regular we were seeing this video and it was the vibration plate. Oh yeah? I've been seeing it every moment. So my friend was saying yeah I got one. You should get one. And then I got one and I started using it. I've been using it now for like around two months. Oh wow. I swear I saw a difference. What do you see? First of all, you wake up in the morning, you're ten minutes. Full ten minutes on the plate yeah you stand on the plate and it vibrates and then your whole body first of all deflates you go to the bathroom right tmi you go to the bathroom right after it wow yeah literally it helps with your bowel movement everything and and you de-bloat your body your you know when you have uh bloating and you're like water retention my rings barely fit because of the water retention it helps so much really and you know i add to it so like i do that and then i drink my hot water with lemon which i've been not doing for a while which i feel i feel the retention is retention so that's that's game changer like honestly i really and it also helps with cellulite because

6:20Hanya Alkhamis:like the movement of cellulite so that's circulating circulation everything so i have i bought recently

6:26Hebah Baker:a walking pad okay which has a vibration tool like uh sorry attachment to it so i should try it you should i haven't used that i've only been using the walking pad a walking pad is my life

6:37Hanya Alkhamis:I go on it and I'm watching The Traders or something. And I'm so invested in the show that I like forget that I'm walking and I do my 10K stuff. That's amazing. It's so good. Does it have a sound?

6:46Hebah Baker:That's the only thing. It's you just tune out. You raise the volume.

6:50Hanya Alkhamis:Just listen to that show. I even sometimes like I do a light jog on it. Like just to build my stamina and everything. I love it.

6:58Hebah Baker:I'm excited to try.

6:59Tamar Jabi:So we all need to get a vibration plate. We should. And, and, and. Second thing we should get. You know the red light. Red light therapy.

7:05Hebah Baker:oh yeah you spoke about that in your last we should where can i get one there's there's so many you want the panel or do you want like the face mask you want the one that's the panel yeah yeah and you can order it like yes that's exactly what they have a lot online but it depends like the higher the voltage the better it is okay for you and there's different lights no there's different lights there's different um sizes yeah there's one that's just like enough for your face

7:30Hanya Alkhamis:so there's also a service now where you can order them to your house and they custom build the the whole sauna like it's a sauna red light wow i i found it i didn't even know is it a dubai thing or is it yeah i thought it just launched in dubai of course and they come and they ship it to your house and like basically they build you your own infrared sauna wow wow yeah which is insane that's insane amazing we should get on that but speaking of the saunas so i have so when i went to do my fast and i fasted for seven days they recommend hold on pause there do you know that

8:08Hebah Baker:you fasted as in like just water she just drank water no food for seven days why it helps you

8:16Hanya Alkhamis:so your gut is actually your second brain and a lot of like health conditions and everything stems from your guts so you we never really clean our guts like it's not something that they regularly teach you because you're inhaling all these like heavy metals toxins pollutions everything's like going into your system and you're not cleaning it out so I went to do a fast in Thailand it was 12 days but of the seven days it was just water and like you drink this bentonite clay and psyllium husk they mix it together and it acts like a magnet and it removes all the toxins from your

8:51Hebah Baker:from your stomach is that crazy it's amazing it was amazing like my skin my body everything was like 10 out of 10 it's too hard to do no food fast in kuwait the food's too good there what do you

9:03Tamar Jabi:mean listen in ramadan and then if you do it after ramadan your body's still like okay i don't need food i can manage yeah maybe you're right yeah it's fine okay okay but i want to try that yeah

9:14Hanya Alkhamis:it was amazing but they also recommend to do a steam room every day and sauna and ice baths so it's called i i researched it recently and it's called the glow rotation so you do like in like two to three rounds of steam room ice bath and then sauna so you sit in the steam room and then you go in the ice bath and you go in the sauna and you just keep doing it on rotation which is amazing but when you do it so I did it recently in Soham Wellness um I went for a massage no it's in Jumeirah oh okay nice so beautiful they actually have a sauna with Himalayan salts like lining the sauna which is amazing for like detox and purification and it really helps you because the way that you do it's like the sauna relaxes your muscles and then when you go into the ice bath so it's really good for detoxification recovery as well so if you're someone who exercises often or like wants to cleanse and remove things as well because your skin is actually your largest organ which people don't know and it really helps you cleanse from your skin like remove anything that you need even with your lungs your breathing but i did hear that ice baths aren't

10:24Hebah Baker:actually good for women actually a lot of studies are tested on men versus women and so the the studies show that actually ice baths aren't good for women so i used to be an ice bath person i used to love ice baths but i after reading a few like people's opinions and tiktok that people saying that ice baths aren't good for women i just stopped doing it yeah but i do love it because it

10:43Hanya Alkhamis:does make me feel so good i'm sure it's i i can see where it happens because even with fasting because i do intermittent fasting a lot and i wanted to do the 36 hour fast once a week but they said for women it's not that great so do it once every two weeks okay so men and women do differ even with ice baths i'm sure but i'm sure there's still a lot of health benefits to do it maybe just not as often or not as long maybe like if i can do two minutes easily yeah because you just have to breathe through it but then maybe it's less for a moment or something is more i couldn't i couldn't do two seconds actually it gives you a high yeah like okay i get it in the

11:24Tamar Jabi:in the sun and in the in the in the summer fine do an ice bath yeah if you're hot but i'm cold

11:31Hebah Baker:the weather is cold yes it's you but it's all about your breath it really is all about your breath when i learned how to do ice bath i was with a coach okay so i think that also helps like you need to do it with someone that knows how to prep you okay if you just go in like if you go to like i don't know a beach club and there's a saw there's an ice plunge pool you just go in because you're like i'm gonna try it yeah you're gonna fail immediately but if you do with a breath work coach, it actually, it's actually not so bad. Okay. I think we're good at home with our fuzzy socks.

12:02Tamar Jabi:Yeah. I mean, you'll hard pass. Yeah. Done. We'll do that. Oh, and speaking, I guess we're on the topic of health right now. So I just bought a pair of blue light glasses from David Asprey's, who's a well-known biohacker. He's the one that started Bulletproof Coffee. Do you remember that, that very big trend well actually my mom still does it till today yeah she loves it and it's

Read the full transcript

12:29Hebah Baker:that it's great for some people coffee it had coconut coconut oil or mct oil with a grass-fed butter it was gross wow but it no it tastes like a latte i don't remember it being a latte oh my mom has to make you maybe i should yeah yeah my mom makes it really really delicious one so he has a website where he has three different types of glasses one's called sunset and one is for like just complete blackout in the evening so I got the sunset glasses which block out blue and violet rays so it's good for nighttime scrolling or little nighttime work and it's they're red they look red tinted and they have them in cool style so they're not they're not really ugly to wear not that it's a fashion statement but you know they kind of are like they really could because like i feel like you know if you want to wear like glasses but you don't have prescription your excuse is blue light glasses you're like but they're blue lights yes they protect my eyes yeah exactly oh so i'll get back to you in a week and let you know how let's see how it goes yeah it does protect you from also from like wrinkles and like there's more

13:37Tamar Jabi:more there's more to it right yeah headaches from screen time recently i've i've been getting headaches like here from from being on your phone yeah yeah and then like help and like you get the

13:49Hebah Baker:glasses i'll try i'll do that so speaking of this beautiful space that we're in the lana hotel they have a kayali ramadan tent that's going to open which is really cool oh yeah so it's going to have iftar and suhoor here at the lana and they're going to have dishes that are inspired by the fragrances oh that sounds so nice really nice yeah i'm sure it's going to be so aesthetically and grand I feel like it's gonna be very grandiose I feel like there's a lot of things happening um in terms of Ramadan here especially especially because it's earlier so the weather is nice there's gonna be like a million and one things outdoors well we just did the um I'll plug the article in we just did where to have your iftar oh yeah yeah new some new fun places for Iftad and Suhoor.

14:35I can't believe it's so close. There's so many. It's so close.

14:38Hanya Alkhamis:I'm so sorry, but like I despise going to any of these places. Do you? God, I love tan. I'm like, it's my first nightmare. I like to be around your family. I just find it so overstimulating. Yeah, it can be. It's so overstimulating. And then at some points from like, you know, you're not eating all day to all of a sudden, like you're around so many people and then you eat like so quickly and then I just want to crash.

15:01Hebah Baker:I'm with you on that for iftar versus suhoor. Suhoor is fine. Suhoor I'm okay with. Iftar I find it's too hard.

15:09Tamar Jabi:Do they have those in Kuwait? Not tents, more like suhoor events. Maybe tents like in a hotel, but like here. They do this. But we have more events in Ramadan. Usually, okay, events are done in the middle. First, seven days are the hardest, so no one does events that time. here i think it's so hard because people are like jet lagged physically yeah and they're like oh we're tired but they do them the next uh week and it's like back to back all the brands do any and

15:44Hebah Baker:all kind of activations and i'm like yeah you get to the end of it you're like what was the purpose

15:51Hanya Alkhamis:of ramadan and it's supposed to be like the whole purpose and like function of ramadan is to like actually be grounded and mindful and like i feel that takes away also yeah it does kind of

16:03Tamar Jabi:commercialized yeah it's commercialized and it's it's but at the end of the day ramadan is to like be with family gather gather be be uh be thoughtful of other people who are in need and want like food and they can't get so like that that's the idea so this is excess so this is you don't need that the opposite of what it needs to be i 100 agree but in general i love this getting to know people in that event so I'll go to Suhoor but never maybe my friends

16:28Hebah Baker:when I was working on the brand side and we were planning iftars versus I was like never plan an iftar because it's just not first of all you have to be at a specific time you have to be breaking your fast at a specific time if you come after it's a bit rude

16:43Hanya Alkhamis:and also can we discuss the traffic right before iftar and everyone is in road rage because no one ate or drank water and like there's so many accidents that happen as well right before people break their house. Exactly, exactly. No, it's intense. Something fun to do also during Ramadan it's on is the new Picasso exhibition at the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. Okay, the Abu Dhabi and their art scene and their museum. I'm lowing up.

17:11Hebah Baker:I mean, literally, it's so close to us, and I feel like there's so much to see. There's so much to see. So there's a Picasso exhibition. Yeah, it's a new exhibition, and they brought, I think, a lot of his works also from France. Oh, interesting. And it looks incredible. I mean, I love going there whenever there's a new exhibition because it's just generally also such a beautiful place to go and walk around. Especially now in the winter because there's indoor-outdoors, so you can walk outside. It's so pretty. Yeah.

17:40Hanya Alkhamis:And there's the Natural History Museum. I'm dying to check it out. I know a lot of people who once liked it. Yeah, they loved it.

17:47Hebah Baker:And the museum in Egypt as well, another one? Oh, the Grand Cairo Museum, yeah. I need to check that one out too. That one we have to get on a plane. Yeah, that's true, that's true. No, but there's so many nice things to see.

17:59Hanya Alkhamis:I love that they're bringing all of this to the Middle East as well, because it's something that we're a bit behind of. Arts and culture, yeah.

18:12Hebah Baker:On to fashion finds, guys.

18:14Tamar Jabi:Anything you've been seeing lately or any Ryder Di beauty products? Okay, fashion finds. Personally, I just got from Juju Vera. It's a necklace. It's so pretty. I was going to wear it today, but it didn't match the vibe. It's so like a necklace, but it's like a very statement, a very simple statement, but it's so beautiful. So imagine you're wearing like a basic white tee and jeans and just add that. So pretty. What does it look like? Is it a long? It's a long necklace. You know the ones that we find in Masimo? Yes. It's just in us. Well, it's kind of like this. Exactly. With a pendant? Yeah, with a pendant.

18:45Tamar Jabi:It's like a silver pendant and then there's like a black circle in the middle and then a tassel. Oh, nice. That sounds beautiful.

18:52Hebah Baker:I'm really into that kind of vibe. Exactly. Necklace. Tassely. Gorgeous.

18:55Hanya Alkhamis:Just out for any outfit, I feel. Yeah. It does.

18:58Hebah Baker:It does. Yeah.

18:59Tamar Jabi:So what's the brand? What's it called? Juju Vera. Juju Vera. Yeah, I got it from Netta Porter, but it's also available in Modo Operandi and like other stores. But it's so pretty. So nice.

19:09Hebah Baker:Nice. What about you, Sal? um so i of course i'm always on the hunt for a new laptop bag because i just feel like they you use them they get dirty and you can always have more yeah yeah we're always carrying yeah like we always have like 30 things with us so there was a brand um i discovered it's a spanish brand from barcelona and it's called oland oh i know oland do they do these have you seen them i love

19:35Hanya Alkhamis:yeah they like tie i love they have the faux leather bags yeah my friend actually uses the bag as a diaper bag oh there you go so it's like a very multi multi-functional bag and yeah so many cool colors yeah the colors are amazing it's just like it looks like a really well-made um bag and uh what color did you get black okay we love that i love that well because black goes with everything so i'm just gonna say if you're just gonna be another one yeah they have like a bright blue one which looks nice and they have different materials um but let's let's see it a chic laptop bag or a big tote bag is always something you need yeah absolutely amen what about you i am obsessing over this brand rowan rose oh yeah she is like honestly my favorites at the moment and her last runway show there's a full leather green outfit that sounds like you already I would die in that outfit.

20:35Hanya Alkhamis:Wow. Wait, is it like a trench coat? It's a trench, but like obviously it's funnel neck and it has like a very beautiful structure and shape of it. But the way she styled it on the runway and the whole runway was orange. So like everything just fits with the color palette of it. And I love that. And she even has another look, which is a, you know, obviously balloon pants, but it's in leather and it kind of has this pleated. Oh, that sounds nice. Which is so cool. And she styled it with this like sheer high neck. yeah like blouse what are the price points it's quite quite good it's on unass now which i'm really happy oh amazing anything that's on unass yeah great if it's on unass you're like two hour

21:13Tamar Jabi:delivery i love i i tested that out by the way yesterday i came yesterday and i figured that i i missed a couple of items at home so i was like okay let's shop on unass while the show was showing I was like okay literally 8 o 'clock no 7.30 I bought something I got it 9.30 exactly it was at your hotel when you got back yes exactly and I was like okay and I tried it at night and then I was like oh that's such a great thing is it like that in Kuwait as well

21:42Hebah Baker:yeah we have it but not on everything not on everything like on selective pieces but even here sometimes it says it's coming from Saudi so it takes like two days yeah but where's the warehouse depending on the warehouse yeah the one there's a warehouse here but there's also one okay okay when i see that when i see i'm like two days no no no no i don't want it it removes off my card i'm like no i need it now exactly urgently

22:04Hanya Alkhamis:why else am i ordering i'm either getting it now or i'm never seeing you again 100 another thing that i'm loving so the savary just launched a ski collection i don't know if you saw it and she created this vintage faux fur jacket which looks like a thrift shop find that's so beautiful she has it in brown and in cream obviously i don't go skiing but i would wear it everywhere get on it

22:28Hebah Baker:it's beautiful and price points are really good oh my gosh because i literally just went on a ski trip with my girlfriends and i wore a perfect moment it looked so nice i was gonna say that was from our fashion that was from our fashion dash so i wore a perfect moment um like it looks like aluminum jacket like a really cool like electric blue with ski pants that are that look like they're leather which is normally not the case ski pants are never they never look like they're leather they're just very like that ski pants material so chic on the slope so i feel like i need to try that yeah i have one more ski trip left in me before this season you will feel like a mob wife is waterproof if it's fur no it's not it's not for skiing

23:16Hanya Alkhamis:no no no it's a ski collection but it's just sitting and eating and exactly no so you can

23:23Hebah Baker:wear it when you walk out like in paris in london wherever you are i love the winter coats and the

23:30Hanya Alkhamis:winter vibes yeah the packing is my issue exactly it's the suitcase oh but there are these you know those packaging that you ventilate like it removes that it compresses it how do i get how do i get

23:44Hebah Baker:that with me i mean everything's on amazon yeah but it is a smart way to pack it is no because a lot of people they do it so you remove all the air the air from it yeah and it compresses it or you just wear your thickest thing on the plane that's what i did also i went to beirut um just like last week and i wore my jacket to the plane like my massive was everyone like stuff it in my suitcase it's just way too much to pack yeah i got that reminds me your jacket

24:12Hanya Alkhamis:reminds me so you know bays yes the the suitcase brand so they did a collaboration with chipotle oh wow which is crazy because now when i see that i'm like that little burrito

24:23Hebah Baker:like a burrito yeah so him has called me a burrito because my jacket looks like a like foil

24:29Hanya Alkhamis:because she did a clob burrito and it was that thin color which was like very creative it's um

24:36Hebah Baker:it's fun to wear the outfits but it's hard to pack those outfits yeah did you know this is a fun fact

24:42Tamar Jabi:the people who live in a hotter weather like for example us in dubai or in kuwait or wherever you have more winter items than you have summer really the other day my my my um the my ariana she's my helper that comes she's like i work with her to fix my wardrobe okay yeah to elevate it and like reorganize it so she comes in every uh three months or every six months sorry that's amazing so she's a wardrobe organizer yes i need to yeah she looks she but she doesn't live in kuwait she goes back and forth she's from italy okay nice so so she came the other time and she's like you know by the way all the kuwaitis have more uh winter items than they have summer and then when i go to like a hotter this colder destination they have more summer than they have winter that's her that's her like take on it she's like i i'm seeing all this winter but you have like two one month one month we discussed this before kuwaitis you wear a lot of outerwear

25:43Hanya Alkhamis:as abaya so like you wear jackets as like a cover-up instead of wearing abaya in kuwait it's

25:50Tamar Jabi:not uh we don't wear abayas yeah exactly but for the regional countries like qatar they wear abayas

25:57Hanya Alkhamis:saudi etc but in kuwait you wear jackets or shackets or whatever it is instead of yes so

26:03Hebah Baker:interesting i do you think it's because we i mean i'm imagining it's because when we when we travel

26:08Tamar Jabi:yeah we want to buy new things we have a lot of more new things for travel yeah so interesting so she comes to your house and she organizes your closet tell me more about this so uh i i got to know her through asma mullah uh from rood she told me that i i have this girl she's amazing blah blah i'm like okay and at that point i was switching uh i was moving so i was like okay i need you so she came and she helped me move and organize my closet like first of all like the pants the top salon the pajamas the things that you're gonna grab and go she folds them instead of hangs them and then the things for example that are next to my bathroom for example are like pajamas uh underwear easily accessible and it's like okay and then she organizes uh for example the winter in a separate either bags or if it's summer we put the summer in and the winter out

27:06Hanya Alkhamis:we put it back like we so where is the back is my question because i need a box so basically

27:12Tamar Jabi:either it's a suitcase okay okay and then we hide it in like the storage room or the we get you know

27:19Hanya Alkhamis:the ikea yes yes yes like the zip up so i i i did that i'm like let me be practical so i put all of myself there and i haven't touched that box since i forget what's inside but we label everything

27:33Tamar Jabi:okay this is summer uh cover-ups wow these are summer swimsuits these are memories like we write this is memories you don't need them you just want them for memories wow and this um sentimental so they're very like very organized as a now i'm like okay i don't need her as much but i need her to come like one hour or two just to see so the last time she that's an amazing service like i

27:56Hanya Alkhamis:feel like that's so there's a lot happening yeah we just did a we just did a show no there are

28:02Hebah Baker:closet organizers yeah we were we did an article on it yeah wardrobe organizers yeah great feng shui always keep your closet clean yeah

28:14Hebah Baker:moving on to celebrity news anything you've been seeing lately i feel like there's so much

28:19Tamar Jabi:much i don't know why i just feel like she's my bestie olivia dean wow what an icon first of all she's iconic yeah second she's a hustler and third her stylist deserves an award yeah needs a grammy herself yeah because it's so refreshing to be honest to see someone feel so herself look so put together but so effortless yeah take so much it's like everyone's

28:44Hanya Alkhamis:doing so much but like sometimes you can do less and still be just as impactful exactly and it's so

28:50Hebah Baker:it's so refreshing yeah and i just love her and i love for her i actually got tickets to see her in manchester you found tickets yeah when is she new april 25th wow i'm coming you have to come okay we have to make it a group trip where it's in it's in manchester uh there she has tickets in London as well but of course my husband bought these tickets for me yeah there's obviously some

29:14Hanya Alkhamis:sort of game that's happening so she's like oh you need to come with me so yeah that's a great

29:22Tamar Jabi:trade-off yeah I'm down I'm down I love that she's just amazing actually Sapna from our team

29:27Hebah Baker:interviewed her recently I know on sheer luck it's really really I love seeing how amazing

29:34Hanya Alkhamis:sheerlux uk is doing like just all the people they're interviewing and i mean on that topic la roche styling lorraine sanchez yeah i don't want all we do is send each other lorraine sanchez i've never i'm sorry i've never seen anyone look so bad

29:54Tamar Jabi:i think sorry excuse my arabic you can be dressed by the perfect stylist by the best you spend five thousand million dollars but you cannot buy class yeah yeah it's not because you cannot buy it no class is either either you have it or you don't and you don't need i just feel

30:14Hanya Alkhamis:like yeah she doesn't carry herself the way yeah she was everyone everyone is basically he's getting a lot of backlash because everyone's like you really sold your soul to money you know yeah like for him to represent her and what she stands for and and just them taking over i'm assuming they're taking over Vogue right?

30:32Hebah Baker:Condé Nast yeah we were saying which is crazy yeah we were like to

30:35Hanya Alkhamis:have her and like he bought it for her I don't know is it public we don't know no one knows

30:40Tamar Jabi:is the story true we don't know we don't know but yeah we'll find out soon she was caught with Anna

30:46Hanya Alkhamis:Winter all of the Vogue covers have been focused on like the Kardashians etc so obviously you're seeing I mean Anna Winter stepped down which is like a huge deal it's a big deal yeah I mean

30:57Tamar Jabi:there's this rumor everywhere so it's not no i mean it's not confirmed though i think it's

31:01Hanya Alkhamis:building up to that announcement yeah which is crazy i know for the fashion world there's a lot going on but then also i mean i'm sure you guys saw nikki minaj at the trump uh no i just almost

31:15Tamar Jabi:no and i know now i didn't see oh my god so we'll send you all send me so she went to support trump

31:22Hanya Alkhamis:so she went to his, what is it? She's like full-blown MAGA now.

31:26Hebah Baker:It's not a rally, but it's a rally. Kind of to say that she's his number one fan. Yeah, so Nicki Minaj and Trump are like besties. Oh, that's iconic. And she's a huge MAGA supporter and she's saying all these radical things online and she's just a, you know, she's a huge hater, as we all know. Nicki Minaj is spewing things on Twitter or X, as we call it now. But people have made fun of her at the Grammys. You saw that comment? which yeah my god everyone was cackling yeah i mean especially chrissy tegan i don't want to get

31:57Hanya Alkhamis:into the whole because i can spend hours i'm like a huge conspiracy theorist but like the whole we need a separate podcast on that situation happening and then she kind of linked it all together like it's it's just crazy but seeing nikki minaj in the rally on stage with him as donald trump was like holding that was so awkward so awkward and she looked like she was i don't know possessing

32:22Hebah Baker:onto a lighter topic do you guys know about desi blink have you heard about this who desi blink no no so dubai blink oh yeah now there's desi oh there's a new version of dubai a new reality tv show called desi is it gonna be on netflix yep on netflix it's coming out it's gonna have some of our dubai faces that really i'm not sure who exactly but i've seen what is it A traitor. It's Daisy. A reality show. Daisy. Oh my God.

32:47Hanya Alkhamis:Like South Asian. South Asian. Oh, okay, okay, okay. And it's in Dubai, right? I think it's a Dubai show. Also, Love is Blind Habibi Season 2 is coming out. Oh, I need to watch that.

33:00Hebah Baker:It's so cringe.

33:01Hanya Alkhamis:I hate it. It's so good. I was contacted three times to join. Oh. And I was like, no. Why didn't you?

33:06Hebah Baker:It'd be fun. Babe, do it.

33:08Hanya Alkhamis:It'll be so fun. She's like, absolutely not.

33:11Hebah Baker:Yeah, reality TV and relationships, it's just, I don't know. it doesn't go but that couple they they're the girls pregnant yeah so they i think they were the only like probably legit couple in the whole show i i struggle with that sort of like realm of reality

33:28Hanya Alkhamis:tv and yeah because it's quite orchestrated yeah i have to be dramatic and it's like you have to be inauthentic and and someone was saying this because i watch i watched now i can't watch it anymore all of the love is blind franchise and it's like when they meet people instead of writing their name they need to write their mental condition or like their trauma because they hire people they cast people based on like so great they're they're they're i don't know like someone has something wrong with them you know like a trauma like a trauma or like oh i have a commitment issue or like i i don't know someone died and this so they hire people based on their story they pick like

34:08Hebah Baker:The broken people. Exactly. Oh my God. So it's like, that's what makes reality TV successful.

34:13Hanya Alkhamis:So it's like, are you really getting people to find love or are you finding the drama to create? We're here for the drama. Yeah.

34:22Tamar Jabi:We love to. If it was all healthy relationships, no one would watch it, right? Yeah, by the way, yeah. But I learned so much from reality TV. Like I realized like red flags. I'm like, okay, this is, you know.

34:34Hebah Baker:Yeah, you're learning as you go. Yeah.

34:40Hanya Alkhamis:Okay, so I've been working in fashion for the past 11 years now. I was a buyer previously and now moving into the side. And I feel like there's this unspoken expectation of you always having to wear designer or brands or people will kind of look down on you for it. And I feel that's very outdated and I feel like it's not the way forward. And there's been so many instances like in the past 11 years. I mean, it's happened to me recently as well, where if someone likes what you're wearing and they ask you where it's from and it's not designer, some people just give you that stare or that look of like, oh, you know, and I feel that's not the reason.

35:22Hanya Alkhamis:like the reason fashion exists is like a creative outlet and it's how people express themselves and it's how they put it together and how they want to show up and i feel this stigma or how people view fashion and even the industry in itself i feel like it needs to shift to not be so focused on what people are wearing but how they choose to express themselves that's so true yeah i feel

35:47Hebah Baker:like whoever yeah i love that i feel like whoever judges you based on the labels that you wear is

35:54Hanya Alkhamis:like that's just so shallow it's also more of their own insecurity behind why do they identify with brands right because it's so easy to say oh i wear this this and that and then what does that give you that like status yeah that i'm above you or whatever it is for me no it's like i appreciate seeing street style of people like especially in new york people always wearing like vintage oh i thrifted this or I got this and for me it's like it's a win if you get a good bargain piece right like for Hania she's like I got this on sale like great you know we all love a sale we all love a bargain we all love finding you know second-hand clothes where you can re-wear it or pass it down

36:31Hebah Baker:to your kids or whatever it is also if you look at I mean if you're if you're talking from a wealth perspective because that's normally where it stems from right it's like I have this wealth that I can buy these brands it's sometimes where that ideology comes from it's like I want to wear a brand because i can afford it yeah but if you think about the wealthiest people and the people that have that wealth it's like they don't want to spend their money in ways that are stupid as well yeah yeah like you don't want to buy the most expensive i can get it for cheaper i'm gonna get it for cheaper so i can spend that money elsewhere yeah by the way the richest people are the most stingy they're yeah the most frugal absolutely i would rather spend on like

37:06Tamar Jabi:real estate 100 i need i tell you i will tell you a story okay do share a story okay so uh speaking of the richest there's very well-known names in the in the community that are you know that they are not poor yes so they will get the dime out of you so for example one of the times that we're like okay do you want to do this as a client for example do you want to do this she's like yeah but I have a budget of this and this and this I'm okay okay fine that's perfect I love working on budgets and then she's like no but it's too expensive when I know for a fact she just bought something from Cartier that is like minimum 30k yeah I'm like okay so are you being stingy because it's a service they don't mind buying this because it's like okay physical you know what I mean like so people can see what it is yeah yeah but a service it's like your spending habits change yeah so how am I explaining to her that this is a luxury since you bought the Hermes a cup of coffee you can buy a service that's luxurious that puts you that puts you in the luxury side yeah because it's a luxury to get someone dress you yeah that's true and it's like at the end of the day it's it's a it's a it's how they see it it's how they value it exactly yeah did you end up working with this client yeah but we turned the budget down

38:34Hebah Baker:of my service i'm like okay i'll work it's so true it's how people see the value in certain Yes. It's, yeah, I find that it's very interesting to see how people, the money spending and the money habits is a really interesting thing.

38:48Tamar Jabi:But this is how the rich people stay rich, by the way. Me, I will, inshallah, hopefully when I'm rich. You are already rich. I'm already rich. I'm rich with you guys. I'm rich in the people that I know. I'm rich in myself, alhamdulillah. But if, inshallah, eventually, when I own this building, inshallah, I will genuinely, I will love, I was saying this to my friends, It's like, spend what you feel like you want to spend. Don't, you need, don't restrict yourself from anything. Don't restrict yourself from anything. If you want it, get it. Life is too short. And I realized this in the, like now I'm 29, I realized life's too short to like, not buy what you want to buy.

39:28Tamar Jabi:I know, save money, but if you really want it, it's like, I know.

39:32Hanya Alkhamis:She's having an internal bottle.

39:35Hebah Baker:Buy what you want to buy, but also save the money.

39:40Hanya Alkhamis:everyone has their their what is it their vices vices exactly so my dad loves spending on electronics i love spending on such a dad thing isn't it electronics yeah also i think because i was a buyer and i know how much things cost versus how they're how much they're selling it i refuse i'm like no way am i gonna spend 15k on on a pair of denim yeah like no do you know how much they make it for like two hundred dollars yeah the markups like what happened to that whole scandal with um lora piana no one's talking about it anymore yeah how much are they charging versus how much they're spending so the joke is actually on you on us for spending so much money yeah oh

40:21Tamar Jabi:speaking of consumers uh recently there's a dip in spending uh yeah because people are spending

40:27Hanya Alkhamis:brands are saying what's happening yeah you know why because with this economy

40:33Tamar Jabi:it's a thing everyone is complaining everyone's saying like okay like what's the spending why is no one spending their money and they're not for example buying uh these bags or these goods or these shoes or they're not buying as they used to before like on corona like everyone was like okay let's save money and then after that 2020 2022 everyone was spending spending spending what they saved and now they're like yeah we're going we're back to know we're good everyone's like i was

40:57Hanya Alkhamis:working with Gucci I don't know if I go I was working with Gucci and they kept every like couple of months they would send us a revised price list and they were constantly increasing their price points yeah and all brands I think ever since Hermes and Chanel became like the top you know when they were kept marking up their price so the price of a Chanel bag then became the price of an Hermes yeah so everyone then started saying okay let's raise our prices but now they're just very unrealistic yes yeah that people are like why especially after covid and people are more aware of this economy yeah you know it's like why would we be spending this much if actually you know there are contemporary brands that are doing just as nice

41:37Hebah Baker:things i mean guys the series that i follow better than a birkin it's so good is it a podcast no it's a it's a it's a creator on on on tiktok and i i'll butcher her name so her series is called better than a birkin okay and it's amazing because she basically talks about all these amazing contemporary brands that are in her mind better than a Birkin and it's cool bag brands like Manu Atelier for example is on that list now we are because we're all connected on social media and

42:05Tamar Jabi:everything I feel like people look the same so having something different just makes you unique yeah and like ask get you get asked okay what's this brand yeah because it's not something so obvious exactly and it's honestly it's amazing yeah it's it's nice to see it's fine different

42:22Hebah Baker:So that wraps up today's chat. Thank you so much for joining us, Hania. It was great to have you. So fun. Come back to Dubai. We want to have you here all the time. Stay, please.
