In short

Combating doom scrolling and building productivity, plus spring fashion and “fitness wardrobe” debates; also includes Big Brother hosting talk, hot-topic etiquette dilemmas, and listener dilemmas about routines, voice notes, and five-a-side football.

Guests

Will Best (presenter and entrepreneur). He overshares, hosts Big Brother with AJ and Dudu, and uses a “Balance” phone that blocks addictive apps/websites (no Facebook/Instagram/TikTok/porn). He also trains with a strict early routine and carries a vest plus loose trousers for the gym.

Key claims

Doom scrolling is a low-effort dopamine crutch; a locked-down phone helps. Big Brother eviction nights feel like a festival with a live superfan crowd. For fitness, “look great” supports consistency. On planes, crying can be “altitude adjusted lacrimosity syndrome.”

Notable examples

suit trousers worn to the gym; crying on a flight while watching Eternity (Callum Turner, Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen); Taylor Swift radio visit felt unusually calm; loo-roll “over vs under” debate.

Done hoping it looks anything like the picture when you tear open that envelope? It's time for a little in-person spring treat. It's time for a trip to Ross. Work your magic.

0:30Frankie Foster:On this week's SL Man podcast, we've been discussing how we can combat doom scrolling. I can't even like open addictive websites. Like no Facebook, no Instagram, no TikTok, no pornography. So when you want to use social media, what do you do? Got another phone. I've got another phone. What brought me to tears in public? Crying on an airplane. Boring, snotty crying. Basically, were you a dribbler? Yeah, were you dribbling? And we have special guest Will Best with us, who shares his unique workout clothing. I always have a vest in my bag and then whatever trousers I'm wearing. So I'll probably go on the way home.

1:07No, you won't wear them. Yeah, because these are very loose. You wear those to the gym. It's not leg day. They are suit trousers.

1:14Frankie Foster:Do you know what? I'm wearing trainers. This one was a lot of fun. So stay tuned.

1:24Frankie Foster:Welcome back to the SL Man Pod. I'm your host, Frankie Foster. and today I'm joined by regular Tunday and we're delighted to have Will Best with us, presenter and entrepreneur. Before we start, make sure you're subscribed not only to this podcast, but also to our weekly newsletter. So you can stay tuned in to the latest style edits, exclusive interviews and everything that's happening at SL Man HQ. I feel like this is going to be a fun one. Yeah, same here. How are we? Yeah, good. Very good. I'm very honoured to be here, guys. It's very kind of you to invite me in to your lovely little room. This is, there's no holding back in this one.

1:58Yeah, good, good.

1:59Frankie Foster:Okay. You don't have to, you know, you don't have to glaze over things. You can just be yourself. We let loose. Okay. I do have a habit of oversharing. Oh, no. Yeah, perfect. Yeah, yeah. And then getting into trouble for it. I would love to overshare. Okay. So this is a great invite for it. Three. Are you an oversharer? Oh, yeah. I'm going to share too much sometimes. I feel like when the camera's on, I actually decide to talk more than I would to my friends. Yeah, yeah. Perfect. It's weird, isn't it? We're going to get on. Yeah. Okay, before we start, let's talk fashion. Tunde, as always, you look stylish.

2:26Thank you very much. So my top is from... COS, a little tight number. Then my jeans are from Zara. I thought we'd get the ripped jeans out again ahead of summer. I haven't worn ripped jeans in a long time. My shirt is actually also from Zara as well. And then my Our Legacy boots. Can't ever go wrong with a pair of Our Legacy boots. Very nice. And then my glasses are from Jimmy Furley. How many glasses do you have? I have a lot of pairs of glasses. Yeah. These actually have no prescription in. Oh, cool. But do you require, are you wearing contacts under your glasses? No, no, no, nothing at all.

2:55Do you need glasses? I do, yeah. Oh. So I now can't really see much of both. It's just interesting because I remember there was a whole trend when people that didn't need glasses would wear glasses that didn't do anything. But I've never heard of somebody who does need glasses wearing glasses that don't do anything. I'm waiting for the person to go in these lenses. Okay. I feel like it's a look now. Yeah, you're road testing them. Yeah, exactly. Well? Well, this is a Ralph Lauren jumper, as you can see from the little polo man. I'm just making sure it's real. Yes. Yeah, that looks legit. Sandro trousers.

3:29These trousers are actually the bottom half of a suit, which is my favorite suit by Miles. Like, I just think Sandro at the moment, well, I got these late last year, but I just doing very good, like amazing cuts and lovely stuff. and I've got my trademark like fucked trainers. Sorry to go straight in with a strong. These are Stan Smiths, but actually these are kind of quite polished up for me. I have a real problem with not having clean shoes. And I tell you what I want. I want some nice boots. Yeah. I'm in the market for boots, man. Here's our legacy. But I'm worried that because I've got relatively like long feet, I will look silly if my trousers aren't loose enough.

4:15I'm 11, but like... As are the three of us, right? Yeah, I'm 11 too. But you're taller than me. Am I? Yeah. How tall are you? Six five. And next question. No, I'm five ten and a half. Okay, I'm only five eleven and a half. Five eleven doesn't exist, right? The extra inches. Am I taller than you? I don't know. I think we're all well into this. No, you're taller.

4:41Frankie Foster:you've got model height both of you no not me um how about the necklace as well oh yes oh and my chain uh is katie mulally okay um who is an amazing designer and i always it's like you know when you find a thickness that feels right for you yeah yeah oh yeah i couldn't i couldn't i couldn't ever go with anyone you've got the right thickness of chain Yeah, exactly. How did you come across Katie Mullally? I think, I don't know. I think she popped up on my Instagram or, I don't know. I just, and then I, and then I was, I'd always tag her because I wear this chain all the time and I sleep, like, sleep in it and everything.

5:21And she very kindly sent me. That's nice. And another one. So I've got two. Yeah, she's great. I'm chainless. Do you feel naked? Do you normally chain? Never chain.

5:30Frankie Foster:I don't think you have to say you don't ever chain. Never jewellery at all. No. I mean, that is like pushing it out there. Yeah. I'm surprised you have a signatory. You like scream signet ring. Is that a compliment? I'm not sure. I mean, I have one, but I don't know. I just feel like you should have like a nice gold signet ring. I saw a post about matching your signet ring to your watch and being dialed in that much. Wow. Yeah. You've got a nice watch on though. You have a nice watch too. Thank you. It's broken. Oh, right. Is it actually? Yeah. It keeps breaking. It's a Rolex. It's the Black Explorer, but it's the pre-2012 one.

6:06so it's got a smaller face for my thin wrist. When you find a thickness, it works for you. Do you... Quick question. We won't take this over too long. But do you actually put the right time on your watch or is it just to put on your wrist? When it works, I try and have it at the correct time. It's just... It's broken a couple of times recently. I never... My watches have never... Apart from this, have never had to hold the right time. Ever. Because I always just go to my phone. Whenever someone asks for the time, I will never look at my wrist. Really? Never. Even though you're wearing a watch?

6:33Well, this one I would. But if I was on an evening, I've grabbed my phone. Yeah. Never. I feel naked without the watch as well.

6:39Frankie Foster:I have to wear it. Quickly, my Toppers October edition's trousers are Uniqlo. Shoes are Russell and Bromley. And the watch is from a market in Hong Kong for 20 quid.

6:54I've got a terrible phone. I had to, this is completely off topic. Well, it's in things we're loving, I guess. Maybe I'm loving, true. Slash hating. So I have a real problem with scrolling. so I've got a new phone that is impossible it's a balanced phone it's called and it is it has like I can use the internet I can listen to music I can have maps I can be productive but I cannot have any addictive apps on here and I can't even like open addictive websites like no Facebook no Instagram no TikTok no pornography okay no gambling it's all it's all like baked into the operating

7:29Frankie Foster:system that you cannot use it so when you want to use social media what do you do got your other phone i've got another phone and where does that live it's always in my pocket it's not working out very well no no but but that's not connected to the internet and stuff but it does mean that i um so like whatsapp is that on here yeah i've got whatsapp i've got i've got all of that i um found that i i just i scroll too much right and i think i wonder whether it's because of work it's i find that like the busier i am with work and now that i do breakfast radio like every day i found i would use every spare moment to scroll and i don't know whether it was about just wanting to shut off my brain but it it just wastes a painful amount of time you know you can't be you can't be sitting on the loo for 40 minutes my dad does that all the time when you're the the busier i am the tired around or the more stressed i am the more yeah exactly because it's just like low effort dopamine isn't it exactly and then and it's a crutch and it's just that feeling of like i would suddenly like come to and i've been standing like in my room i was like instead of like putting my clothes away i've been standing there for like 40 minutes just scrolling nothing so i thought i need to do something about it and i tried those apps where it puts a timer on it or you have that thing called a brick yeah i've seen that recently which they should have called a block that always annoyed me why didn't they call it a block because it was blocking maybe that was already taken but um but i would just you just overwrite it yeah override it you just like turn it off so this phone the balance phone has the operating system the factory settings you cannot override it blocks anything addictive whether that's apps or even websites is expensive uh it was like 600 quid oh that's a lot for a phone that takes nothing yeah yeah but i can still i'm still productive with that yeah you know more money than a new car it seems counterintuitive yeah my fiance she was like why don't you just because i'm due a free upgrade on my current phone so why don't you just get get the upgrade but just use your old delete all the yeah but i was like i'll re-download them there is actually a flip phone that does the same job but it but does it have everything does it have whatsapp does it have spotify you can text the negative although it's advertised as a positive because it takes you i think 27 taps to say i love you is that it's still on the three letter the tap to type.

9:50Frankie Foster:No way. So it's even a deterrent to text because you're like, this takes forever. Wow. But it does work. And when you buy it, it downloads all of your data. So like all of your contacts, you buy it and then it will just transfer over. That's amazing. But you never actually speak to any of them. So that's good. It saves you a lot of time because you don't have any friends anymore either. So you never have to worry about going out. Okay, Tunde, what are you loving? You've been touring as usual. You're never in the country. Where have you been? What have you been up to? So obviously wedding season is finally upon us and I had the first Stagdew.

10:21I went to Munich, which was quite fun. I think Munich is a place that people just think, just drink, drink, drink, drink, drink. It wasn't like October 1st or anything. But it was good fun. We went go-karting. We went to this park called, I think it's called like nonchalant something. Nonchalant. Nonchalant. Just strolling, got a care in the world. But it was like a big outdoor area. There was loads and loads and loads of tables. And yes, you obviously could drink, but we ate really like traditional German food couldn't tell you what it was called so before you asked me for the name I couldn't tell you some kind of verse yeah yeah 100 % was it a pleasant weekend it was it was do you know what a lot of the stag dudes I've been on have been quite chill yeah I was expecting stag dudes to be quite crazy groomed stag dudes yeah where do you guys stand on making the stag like dress up oh yeah

11:10Frankie Foster:I'm all for it they dress up when we wear really I don't hate it but I don't love it yeah I'm not that like I'd rather be having a good time than worry too much about what you're wearing. I wouldn't begrudge it. Yeah. I know it doesn't add most to me. It doesn't. I don't think it's quite jokes. I think it's jokes. And it depends on where you want to be going and getting into. Yeah, that's true. If you rock up looking like 15 British lads on a stag where you're dressed as... Yeah. You're not getting into Bergheim. No, no, no. They would. They would. Well, it depends what you dress him up in. That's very true.

11:42Yeah. It's like we went to in Budapest. They dressed him up as if he was going to Bergheim.

11:46Frankie Foster:I think you need one day that is like over the top stag and do all of that. And then one day that's. Yeah, that's basically what they've all sort of been. But yeah, Munich was really nice. It was like nice to do just other things apart from like drinking all day long. We did get to the airport at like four in the morning and we did drink at the beginning of the day. But I think that because we did that, people then calmed down. Where do you stand on airport pints? Oh, yes. Essentially. Oh, yeah. Any time you fly, you're having 100%. Even if I'm traveling with work. Yeah. It's a guilt-free. When can you have a guilt-free morning pint?

12:19Nothing beats the buzz of a morning pint. Seriously. It's so crazy. And it's genuinely a thirst-quenching drink. You should always drink a pint of water when you wake up. So why not have a pint of beer? Water, coffee, pint. Yeah. Well, you were telling me about what you normally have for breakfast. Yeah. Breakfast of champions. Exactly. You sound like you'd be more likely to have like a nice glass of like burgundy. With your coffee. Yeah. Yeah.

12:41Frankie Foster:Oh, I tell you what I'm loving. Something quite stylish. Also maybe to go with a glass of port or something very gentlemanly, Goodwood Motorsports. And for all that I'm into F1 and fast cars from a sort of casual, I'm not a motorhead by any means, but I went to the Festival of Speed last year, went to the members meeting last month. So impressive as like a festival, a venue. Just obviously you watch the racing and all the cars are really exciting, but the fact that you can wander around get close to all the cars, have great food, drinks, different pockets of things going on, different marquees.

13:19Frankie Foster:It's a proper festival, which I, from the outside, would have just thought it's for people that want to go and see fast cars. But for a day out, it was so cool. And do you go to like the main house? Do they have like stuff at the house itself, kind of in front of? The Goodwood house, particularly on Festival of Speed, the race goes, sort of starts like this, takes a right-hand turn and then goes up past the house on the way. Oh, that's cool. But I'm not esteemed enough to get in the house. Right. No. Not yet. Not yet. I went to a festival. I've not been to Goodwood, the festival. I've not been to the Festival of Speed.

13:51I have been to Good Woof. Right. Over dogs. Which is a dog festival. At Goodwood? At Goodwood. And it was, I took my dog sandwich. What? That's a great name. It was one of the greatest days of mine and Sandwich's life. It was amazing. What breed is Sandwich? Sandwich is a Tibetan Terrier. Wow. What does that look like? A very fluffy. sandwich yeah exactly yeah just like two bits of bread it's really weird uh no he's uh he's very hairy like shaggy fluffy creature um but it's it's really good and you have we did like um yoga they do yoga for dogs they do no they call it paul arties and they have they have they have um uh ministry of hound they had dj fat tony playing honestly for the dogs it was it was yeah it was great i did it for this morning did he win anything he oh he took part okay in the dog agility he's not an athlete i mean give him a break have you got any sort of rosette up

14:48Frankie Foster:on the wall at home absolutely not yeah he didn't he didn't get he didn't he didn't get anything but but i recommend it if you've got dogs there you go i mean you do lots there what are the people like go cool yeah it was nice and chill yes the weather was great when i went people sat around having a pint, lots of food. Yeah, really fun. Do you think the dress code is similar on Good Woof as it is on Good Wood? Only you can tell I snapped in the beginning. I've only been to one. I don't remember. Yeah. Well, they're sort of like, you know, barber jackets. I was going to say barber jackets and tweeds.

15:20I don't remember a lot of barber jackets. No? But I think maybe I was just looking at all the dogs. Yeah, okay. Were the dogs in outfits? Not enough. They should have been. They should have been. With Plan B Emergency Contraception, we're in control of our future. It's backup birth control you take after unprotected sex that helps prevent pregnancy before it starts. 16:04Frankie Foster:Okay, Fashion Fine. Next Sunday, you've been shopping, have you? Yes, I have. I actually spent a lot of money last week. I went, I discovered this new clothing brand. They're called 28 Club. And they are basically just running gear. But you look so cool in it. I spent like£600. Whoa. On running gear? I bought everything. Yeah, I think so. I do run. I run twice a week. I actually had one piece before. Which I got from somebody else. and then I went and just bought everything myself. And I walked into the gym stand and I felt so good. So, so, so. So what did you get? Trainers, shorts, t-shirts? I got a track suit.

16:42They have this mesh material, which is like mesh I've not really seen before. They have, so a black hat, black and white, then black, black. So I bought both variations of every single style. So a vest in black, black, black, white, and then white, white, and white, black. And then the t-shirt, then the shorts, then the string vest, then a jumper, then a jacket, then running tights, then socks. So you did get a lot for your 600 quid. Yeah, I got a lot. I got a lot. I need some sports gifts to play football every week. Our swimming shorts. And I would play in swimming shorts and just like a vest.

17:13I'd wear gym shorts to swim in somewhere in the reverse.

17:15Frankie Foster:I'm not that bad, but I was about to say my fitness wardrobe is pretty tragic. I look like I've gone to sort of lost property in the PE department. That's the thing. And I think when it comes to fitness, I feel like I only feel personally best when I'm doing something fit, when I look great too. I feel like I've put too much effort into it. It's like I'm putting too much pressure on myself to perform in some kind of like at least five days a week, but for 20 minutes. Like genuinely for 20 minutes. I'll do one exercise basically a day. I have a little thing. I do A, B, C, L, S. So I'll do like 20 minutes of arms one day.

17:54Then the next day, 20 minutes of back. Then 20 minutes of chest. You work. That works. you tell me buddy I mean you do look fit you found but but it's because I've been doing it for a long time I guess maybe but so I just I always have a vest in my bag and then whatever trousers I'm wearing so I'll probably go on the way home no you won't wear them yeah because these are very loose you wear those to the gym it's not leg day they are suit trousers

18:18Frankie Foster:do you know what I'm wearing trainers you can't be the guy that's like doing 20 minutes of arms in the squat rack in his yeah but I'll be wearing a vest a loose vest is not public. No, no, no, fitness for less. You'll wear these. And the vest. But they're very loose. But the vest is loose. And you sweat. And I'm just... I'll be judging you. Not really. I'm only doing 20 minutes. I'll be judging you. Do you know what I mean? Few bicep... What day is it today? Yesterday was A. So it's back today. It's back today. You two need to go shopping together. We need an intervention. I saw somebody with Timberlands in the gym the other day.

18:47And I thought, what the hell is going on? I'm not crazy. But obviously, it's a Swiss. And then also, Adidas, they have these shorts called sprinter shorts. Have you seen them? They're like quite, they're very short shorts. Again, I bought every color. They are banging and they're so cheap, like 30 pounds. I bought every single color. Okay, that's good.

19:08Frankie Foster:Well, what you got your eye on? So I, there's a really nice brand called Scott Fraser collection. They do really nice. Like, look, I'm going to just the easiest way for people to picture it. And it's a cliche, but it's like sort of Jude Law in talented Mr. Ripley. Do you know what I mean? And that, that like undersells it because it's got but it's like really nice knitwear really nice like polo shirts but you know a really nice fit that kind of like very classic sort of style and um i need to like re-up my summer wardrobe partly because i incorrectly washed the previous items that i had and now they're very small exactly i can't yeah tiny mr ripley tiny tansy mr i've ripped it again um yeah so uh so uh i want to get some more that stuff but check it out it's really good collection um i do the radio every day with fleur east and her husband has an amazing fashion brand called fashion brand clothing brand called ma um and i went to their like launch the other day and i got some bits and i want to like go back online and get the rest nice um what's the stuff it's it's kind of it's hard to describe i'll tell you okay i think he should sell it i think it would go really well in you know in this is very southern specific but you know that like the bit in the selfridges menswear i knew you're gonna say this where there's like all the like in the middle next to the delorean yeah yeah i can just picture it there because it's like it's casual but like interesting design embellishments the quality of it is ridiculous like i've got a one of their um hoodies which just has ma there but then the back is the most phenomenal like thick embroidered image like it's beautiful and it was like 80 quid i'm like this is too cheap but he's like no he's like that's the mark i made my margin this is it like so yeah it's really good so i get something check it out how do you spell it m a double r m a double Cool, ma, nice.

21:08Frankie Foster:What am I loving? Folk t-shirts. What's that? What's the folk t-shirt? Folk is the brand. Oh, right. F-O-L-K. And I think in some ways a t-shirt is a t-shirt, right? You just have a white tee. No, no, no. Yeah, but then it's not. Every guy has a brand where you've bought a t-shirt and it's your best t-shirt. I feel that. Yeah, and for me, folk's been that. Like every time I buy just a plain white tee from them, it's my favorite tee. What is it about it? Well, it's very good material. And the fit? Yeah, and the fit, the sleeves are sort of slightly longer, but they're not massive coming out. Yeah, I hate the pyramid, the triangle sleeve.

21:44Frankie Foster:They're a nice sort of relaxed fit without being over the top. It's not like they've tried to be oversized or be too trendy. Yeah, fine. They're just a nice, relaxed fit t-shirt. No, no, no, no, easy wear. They have a couple, they have some thinner ones. I've got this thick one, which I wear all the time. They have a lot of, I think their sort of thing for this summer is this striped tee. Yeah. Which they are calling assembly t-shirts. They've got them in sort of five colors, stripe two. I think just if you, when it gets hot, summer comes around, you need a couple of t-shirts. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

22:12Frankie Foster:I'm expensive. 70 quid. 70 pounds for a t-shirt? For one t-shirt? I can't believe you're shocked at a price of something. You spend so much money on clothes. Yeah, but do you hear how much I got though? Yeah. 70 pounds on a t-shirt? They are a bit punchy, but they're worth it. If they last a long time. And you can wash them. Yeah. There's none of this shrinking going on. Yeah. So my favorite white t-shirt that's still in my cupboard that I still wear and still looks brand new, I maybe got two years ago. I mean, that's not that long. Oh, no. But if it still looks, do you? I still have two t-shirts.

22:46You know Edwin? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I got two t-shirts from Edwin, grey ones, that I still wear. They're in rotation. I wear them every week. How many years are you talking? 2012. What? What? I swear. 2012. That's what? Because I was with my partner. first time around just how about 15 any day never liked her um yeah 15 years ago yeah 15 years honestly what do you think the oldest piece of clothing in your wardrobe is me that's a great question i think that's gonna be there for me i churn like i go through so much even my underwear is all brand new oh i i have i need to get i need to reduce the length of time i wear my underwear for because i i have i have I have pairs with holes in the gussets.

23:36As soon as a hole appears, throw it straight in the bag. No, I need to. I think my underwear collection is predominantly Calvin Klein. I just love a nice, tight pair of... What are you wearing now, guys? I'm wearing... Oh, now I feel under pressure. Oh, Calvin Klein.

23:49Frankie Foster:Now I do feel under pressure. But these are brand new. Nondescript green. Not actually short. I put myself a wedgie to see the... Yeah, I'm underscript. I think these are greeny ones because I had to wear green boxer shorts for some filming because they made them disappear. I think I'm still wearing those. Yeah, green screen pants. Just in your underwear? I danced through the Big Brother house and they wanted me to wear green so they could pixelate to make it look like I was naked. Oh, cool. I recreated the dance from Saltburn. How do they make it look like you're naked without showing your naked?

24:23Frankie Foster:Well, in the end, the greens didn't work. So I just wore flesh colored pants. Okay. they were very they were very very tight i see um and it was an open set there's a lot of people in there well so my my fiance is a stylist and she's done a lot of like underwear styling and so we and she starred me for big brother so and when i put them on she was like you cannot dance around like that is too obvious um so what they do on underwear shoots which i didn't know is they'll put a small cup from a bra where your penis is, just to smooth it out. So there's no outline. So you can't see the exact outline.

25:08Frankie Foster:Yeah. You know. So top tip, guys. What size bra? Oh, well, that was the thing, actually. They had to get the extra, extra large one. Plus, plus, plus, yeah. I think you look great on Big Brother, by the way. So kudos to your fiancee, because you look sick. Oh, thanks. No, she's very, very good. Let's stay on that topic. Yep. Bit of Big Brother chat. What's it like hosting? It's great. Yeah. No, I love it because I loved the show, you know, for years and it's a bit of a dream come true and I get to do it with my mate AJ, Dudu, who is amazing. Fair person on the planet. Yeah, she's great. Honestly, the best human.

25:44Yeah, she's wonderful. So it's just fun. Like every, and so, you know, the eviction nights, there's a huge crowd there. There's like 500 people. there's like music and it's loud and there's lights and everyone's excited and people have the banners it's like it's like a festival it's like a pop concert do you know what I mean every Friday night um and it's just really really fun we're unbelievably lucky so that's it's coming back in like September October time do you feel like you're addressing the crowd as well as the

26:14Frankie Foster:TV you're sort of all in one or you're presenting to the camera but the crowd are there yeah yeah and and but you the crowd there are the super fans right because they've bothered to come to yeah like is it acting now yeah yeah yeah yeah oh i thought it was no longer in borne ridden no no no no no it's acting um so they come there on a friday night and stand there in the rain and do i mean so so it's quite a big brother shot that isn't it the rain coming down yes exactly being aj with an i'm going to meet the you know the housemates with an umbrella um no it's really I can't wait for it to come back.

26:47It's good. And it is also a fun excuse to, you know, get some nice threads. Yeah. Yeah. 100 % sure.

26:53Frankie Foster:Any cool moments, whether it's Big Brother or outside of that, or cool people or things that you've been up to recently? Oh, recently? Yeah. Well, on the radio, I'm very lucky because we get, because there aren't very many TV shows that, like, youth music, the sorts of TV shows that I used to work on in, like, 2012, would get all of the film stars and stuff coming through. They don't really exist so much now. So they all come on the radio. So we get amazing guests. I've been so lucky to meet some like really fun, big people, you know, your Taylor Swift's come through. And then we get a lot of actors as well.

27:30Frankie Foster:So Taylor Swift, what's happening there? She came in, she came in. She's lovely. Yeah. She's really nice. So when you get a lot of these really big artists, right? often their team are it seems like they're in a permanent state of panic right and they give you lists of things you can say things you can't say they'll shut try and shut down the whole floor so that you know everything is so tightly controlled um they'll vet questions they'll whereas taylor swift she came in kind of at last year just before her album came out biggest artist in the world at the time like without a doubt so chill and her her kind of um i don't even know what she is manager press person like her kind of right hand is is a lady called tree pain um and all her yeah she's painful uh she weeps like a willow um no she um she she's like and all her fans are obsessed with her right yeah it was just like having a normal person come in do you know i mean like she came in we played us her album like beforehand and stuff and then when taylor came in the whole vibe was like hey guys we're just normal people you know what i mean which is your job much easier makes our job so much easier and usually when big name people come in they are normal it's just their team who are freaking out whereas taylor's team would just like really cool that who would be your dream interviewee i'd like to i'd like to do rihanna because i feel like i've been very lucky and i've done like all of those you know that kind of ilk of like big names you know like kendrick lamar is probably the best person ever into the most interesting and but i haven't got rihanna i think she because i think she'd be cool yeah i remember she years ago when she when we were doing t4 she was doing a junket uh or she did an interview with grimy and she was wearing a t-shirt that was it was a t-shirt print of two packs tattoos but you know his tattoo that says thug life yeah yeah the word thug so it said life but thug had been replaced by the worst swear word the only swear word that i was told i wasn't allowed to say on this show oh really yeah and she was just sitting there on all these filmed interviews so everyone just had to blur it out but she just didn't care yeah what a legend

29:49Frankie Foster:okay hot topics tunday has sent in many hot topics he wants to discuss so we're kind of giving him his own no at all i basically was at the pub the other day and um we're just sitting there watching the football actually and we're just chatting and one of the boys just randomly starts asking questions and i thought it was quite interesting some things he was asking okay so there are things like do you wash your hands after you use a urinal yes and i am like yes of course yes yeah but my friend was like he doesn't wash his hands because he's not touched anything and only his penis and his penis is clean but but when you say not touched anything and then followed that with touched his penis yeah but he then he's he's responsible his penis is clean So why would he wash his hands?

30:29But his penis has had wee on it. Yeah, but not around, but not when you hold it, I guess. It suddenly comes out at the end. Still, but you don't, you know,

30:36Frankie Foster:if I meet Will and shake his hand, I don't want to know that the last 100%. Exactly my point. He then was trying to touch me. No! Get your hands away from me. But, yeah. That's wild. It's also not hard to wash your hands. And he's also like, you know, the door in and just toilets are not a clean. But then he's saying that like, because you touch the tap, you can touch the door. Like, I have, so I'm not backing him up. I wash my hands after I go to toilet. No, so do I. But I've heard somebody make the point that a door, toilet door handle is probably dirtier than... Yeah, yeah. But that's why I always open it from the bottom.

31:05Frankie Foster:Because if you had a shower and then got dressed, there's not much has happened. I mean, if you're going to have to have a wee in a toilet, as in rather than a urinal, are you lifting the seat with your hand or your foot? Foot. Foot? Flick up. In a public place, foot. You don't lift it. You lift the toilet seat with your hand. Then you'll definitely wash your hands off. That is so disgusting. He's wearing nice shoes. No, I'll use my first in a pump and toilet. Same. That's actually disgusting. Okay, urinal cakes. Do you eat them? What? No, I'm joking. Sorry, what? That was a silly joke. Okay, next one quickly.

31:42Frankie Foster:Is your partner allowed to use your toothbrush? No. Yes. I think in an absolute emergency. Yeah, if they don't have one. You stay in a hotel, they've forgotten one. Yes. As in just everyday regular. That's ridiculous. Yeah. I mean, we've had long periods where we've just had one toothbrush. Really? But she doesn't like it because I brush too hard and I tend to chew. You're wearing the toothbrush. You know, when you bite down on the toothbrush. So do you share? Yeah. But we have separate ones at the moment, but I'm very happy to share. When we go on holiday, we're only taking one toothbrush. Do you?

32:13Yeah. Deliberately. Really? I mean, I'm all for sharing if you need to. Yeah, but not on purpose. Yeah. I mean, I guess it's each their own. But you, I mean, you do kiss. I know. I know. but it's like you're cleaning your mouth though.

32:24Frankie Foster:Yeah, a bit different. Anyway. Okay, on that then, but do you contain it all in your mouth or do you let it like dribble down your arm? Hang on. I mean, I'm sure there is occasional dribbling, but it's not a conscious choice. I'm not like, I'm going to have a dribbly one today. Some of the boys will just let it just dribble and not try and contain it. They'll just let it run down all their arms. This is a sound bite. It's wild.

32:47Yeah, no, I try and avoid the dribble. Okay. Yeah, I'm not a dribbler either.

32:51Frankie Foster:them brushing your teeth in the shower though yes every day yes every day save time and water save time for the for the time element yeah because i have to be out the door at my morning like my alarm goes off at 5 32 i'm so precise because i've worked out that two minutes yeah and if i shower and then brush my teeth that's another couple of minutes i know it is makes a big difference yeah big difference yeah any more you'd just like to throw in quickly from your pub chat There was one that's been vetoed about toilets. There is something you had. I was going to send away to that. Frankie, you just took your shame from me.

33:26Take it away, Tim. No, no, no, go on. Since he's pointed to you, what is your take on toilets? So we did it on the radio the other day, and it's very partridge. It's quite a bit, you know what I mean, in terms of like, phone in. But we had a massive debate about whether you, when you put your toilet roll on the toilet holder, shoulder does the loose sheet go over the roll so you pull it down coming away from the wall or does it go under the roll so it's coming against the one you pull it out like that now i'm an under guy yes because i find i find if it's over you can over pull you can get through too much loo roll um if it's under it's easier with one hand to rip it i might be scrolling i've never thought about that but yes i've just always been under because my mom has always made get under.

34:11What are you an over guy? Well, you are in the majority. Most of our listeners.

34:14Frankie Foster:Just to verify, I'm in the minority here, but I'm sure amongst viewers. You are the. I've got to be a majority. But you know what? Over is what you normally find like a hotel. Over is, yes. They'll do like a nice pattern. It is. And actually, so. Because you can get the fold and everything. You can get the little fold. Sometimes you do a little stamp on it, don't they? One of our listeners actually sent in an image of the original like patent for loo roll. And it was over. And it was over. And it had a little diagram showing that. Really? I stand corrected. There we go. In other news, I was crying on the plane over to America, not because I was sad about going to America, but I watched Eternity, a film about...

34:52Frankie Foster:Oh, yeah. It's very unlike films I like. It's good, though. It was surprising. Yeah, with Callum Turner. Yes. Miles Teller. Yeah. Elizabeth Olsen. Olsen. Yeah. You've seen it. Yeah, it's really good, man. It's good. So just briefly explain it. It's quite sci-fi-y, and essentially when you die, you go into Eternity. Yeah. die and in eternity you have to make all these choices and i don't think i'm going to be ruining it by saying this but elizabeth olsen basically has to decide whether she wants to live out her eternity with a previous husband that died at war when she was you know let's say in her mid-20s versus her husband who she eventually led her life with and they both died of old age so she gets into eternity and both of them so it's like do you go back to your 20 year old self of having this fiery love and choose eternity with them?

35:37Frankie Foster:Or do you stick with your eventual husband? It's good. It's emotional. I'm not surprised you cried. I'm crying on an airplane. Balling, snotty crying. Well, no. Basically, were you a dribbler? Yeah, were you dribbling? But when you're not sat next to someone you know, you think that's why... Oh, right, it's embarrassing. Well, yeah, then you're just like, I can't go over the top here because there's just this guy's... Yeah, mate, everyone cries on planes. You know there's a name for this. It's called altitude adjusted lacrimosity syndrome. Right. Are you taking the piss? No. But is that crying because of the altitude or crying because of the film?

36:10So when you're, I think the theory is. It's easier to cry. You cry more on a plane because you are, I think at some level, you are subconsciously deeply aware of the fragility of your existence in that moment. Yeah, true. Like you are hurling through the air at 500 miles an hour, 30 ,000 feet in a tin can. Like this is precarious. You do.

36:29Frankie Foster:And your emotions will be heightened. And you have sort of like deeper thoughts, right? Yeah. You're watching this film and relating it back to you. Yeah. I cry on everything on the plane. I am a crier. The older I get, the more I cry. But I also cry sometimes with happiness. I actually did it like maybe like three weeks ago when I moved into my flat. Just like I'm actually like in my own space now. I couldn't believe it actually happened. Congrats. Thank you. That's amazing. Good film though. Yeah. Should we have a cry now? Yeah. Should we have a quick cry?

37:05Frankie Foster:okay to finish up listeners dilemmas this is where you send us your dilemmas and we try and give constructive feedback which i always enjoy so i'm gonna actually start in yeah oh wow this is always my busiest time of year from now for six weeks i always for lack of a better word have to lock in work-wise trying to be a bit healthier get a routine yeah and the only way i can see my myself being able to stick to it with all my travel is having an early enough alarm that no matter where i am or what i'm doing that will remain the same okay so no travel plans break it or no yeah it's just like i have to get up at probably 5 a.m whoa don't do it man what the but is this your dilemma yeah no don't do it that's not 5 a.m well you get up at 5 a.m though i get up at 5 30 because i am contractually obliged to do so and if i didn't have to no that's not the answer I was looking for dude well I can speak from experience somebody who gets up early every day don't do it man really it's too hard I always feel like I'm just getting up and going somewhere with no time to do the things that I usually miss out on when I'm super busy and why do you have to do those things in the morning yeah because I suck at doing them in the evening and what are they gym gyms key one yeah working on my brand would be another that sort of gets pushed to the side when I'm super busy because you're an entrepreneur you've got to Yeah, I can relate to that.

38:30I wake up at 5.30 every day. Do you? There you go. Do you? That's me complaining. Every day. Every single day. What time do you go to bed? Well, I'm trying to now go to bed like 10 o 'clock, 10.11. You know what I need to do. 10.11, that's not enough sleep, mate. I know, I know. But I also run like three other businesses. So like I have to, I need to also, if I don't go to the gym, my day is fucked. So like I have to go to the gym. So I go to the gym at 6 a.m. every day. And that is like a great start to the day for me. so if I don't do that then my day is ruined and you can really tell I'll come into this and I won't tell the word

39:02Frankie Foster:I didn't know you were up that early oh yeah every day do 20 minutes a day in the gym that's what you need no I can't do it five days a week I have like a six month program which is hopefully working I think you're looking great you are looking great give us a gun show to the camera is it cake? beef cake yes but no I really am being quite strict with myself and I'm seeing the results so I'm going to keep going Every day I wake up and I'm like, fuck, I don't want to do this. But when I'm in the gym doing it, I'm like, thank God I'm here. So you guys are crazy. A 5.30 man. No, no, no, no. So how did you become a 5.30 man?

39:36Apple have this thing where you can set your sleep and work time you want to wake up every day. Yeah, it's called an alarm. It's amazing. I set it. It's its own section. Right, okay. And it's just now been on for so long. my body now just wakes up without me even having to listen to the alarms so I want to wake up at 5.30 now every day without fail you know what a great feeling is going back to sleep again oh yeah it is a good feeling but I then can't for too long it'll just wake me back up I think I've cracked it oh yeah go on

40:07Frankie Foster:you're a 5.30 you're a 5.32 I'm in the 5.31 stop there we go it's available it's available okay you can take it it's all yours and we'll all text each other should we all do it to make sure we're up yeah but you see getting up at 5.30 to like go to the gym and stuff like that feels, that feels nice. That feels like, that's good to be fair. I'm not going to lie. I might just start texting you at 5.30 every day. Please do. Or I'll text you to wake you up maybe. Well, either way, you know. But that would help. Yeah. Honestly, it's so good. Yeah, come on. Reach out. Yeah. Thanks guys. Say nothing else to each other, just good morning.

40:41You know what it means? You can listen to my radio show every day. Oh yeah.

40:44Frankie Foster:I listened to it from now on. Yeah. So you weren't already? Just a little quick test. No. I don't listen to the radio. Right. I haven't listened to the radio in so long. We do amazing phone-ins, like which way around do you put your loo roll? Do you know what I mean? You're missing out. If you get me listening to your radio, within three months, you're going to be like, this guy keeps phoning in. Blocked. I want to win one of those competitions where you can win like 20 ,000 pounds. Mate, we have a competition where you can win 790 ,000 pounds. Wow. What? Yeah, it's crazy. That'll get me out of bed.

41:12Frankie Foster:Yeah, definitely. Cool. Thanks, guys, for that. Oh, it's not the end. No, this one's great. Okay, go on. Okay. I've just started seeing a girl. not me but whoever sent this in who sends long voice notes all of the time. Is it a green flag or is it a lot? It's not a green flag. I think it depends. Is it if she doesn't want to type I think a two minute voice note a long voice note is fine. Yeah how long is it long though? The kind of thinking behind it is a green flag and that it's nice that she just wants to chat on voice note. Yeah. But the practicality of it is quite frustrating. Is it a long voice note or multiple voice notes she's sending?

41:51Sends long voice notes all of the time. I think that's, I think that is, well, does she expect a reply? I've got too many follow-up questions, haven't I? Because if she wants like a quick reply, one of the things I love about my fiance is that she will message me. And if I don't reply quite quickly, she will just, she'll send a question mark, then two question marks, then hello. then hello in capitals. She'll send me like 30 follow-up messages and I find it genuinely funny that she's there completely like freaking out. I think she's joking, but I don't know.

42:28Frankie Foster:I've always been an advocate of that. Like the triple text. Yeah, I don't care. I don't give a damn. Yeah. I will text you until you reply. Yeah. But we've been together a long time. So I think if it's a new relationship, I don't think. Yeah, people hate that. Yeah, some of my friends, they talk about like, how did you text the boy or the girl? I'm like, for fuck's sake, just text if you want to text him. Yeah. Who the hell cares? Yeah. I think they monitored the situation. Yeah. I love a voice note. I will send a voice note because it's just so much quicker to respond to someone. Yeah. In moderation.

42:57Frankie Foster:Just thinking back to like previous relationships. I don't think I've ever, I'm either a text or a call. Caller. Oh, yeah. Calls quite rogue. I hate, I don't like a call. I don't. No. Like, because I want to talk to you in like. When I'm ready to talk to you. What about in like the honeymoon phase, you know, calling before bed, all of that? No, that can be quite nice. I don't know if I like that. Maybe a FaceTime. I could do a FaceTime. Not the same as a call. So we haven't really answered the question. No, sorry. It's not a red flag, but it's annoying. Yeah, I think keep us updated. I don't mind it.

43:37I don't mind it.

43:38Frankie Foster:It shows they want to communicate with you. Yeah, that's true. I think the key words though are long and all the time. I think you've answered your own question. Right. All my friends have joined a five-a-side team and I'm really struggling. How do I get better? Or do I just choose something else suited to me? Oh, that's a tough one. Just something else. Well, it depends on how old you are. Are you our age? Because if you're our age, trying to do something new, especially football, I'm honoured that you guys are putting me in your age bracket. Thank you. How old are you? 41. Are you never much older than me?

44:12I'm 39. Oh, really? No, I'm joking. 32. Am I in the wrong room? Looking good. You look very good for a 41. Shearluck's old man. Is that another? Although the greys really come through with a shaved head. It's not about me. It's about this five-a-side team. I used to play five-a-side every Monday for like 12 years. And it was amazing fitness, but I never improved.

44:37Frankie Foster:So what I'm wondering for this person is if you never improved. When you say two. I never got any better from day one. And they picked you to play first team of the time. It was only fun. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. No, we played amongst each other. So we weren't in a league. Okay. So there was like 14 of us in the WhatsApp group and we would just about manage 10 every week. Okay. So, but I never improved. So if this person is already worrying about, like, they're not good enough for the group, they either need to just get over that and just treat it like fitness and they've got every right to be there or stop because you're never going to get better.

45:11Frankie Foster:Yeah. So that was my question. Did it bother you that you weren't as good at football as other people? No, but because I would make up for it by running more. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? So I would find I'd build value by being tenacious. Yeah. Or you could, you know, be the best in the pub after. Or cheerleader. Or coach. Yeah, coach. Or physio, maybe. Physio. Or boy. Or boy. Just get involved in your own way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's quite good. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I would encourage you to stay involved socially. Yeah, I think so. If it's a nice thing as part of your social calendar, if you don't feel like you need it, you've got enough going on.

45:47Frankie Foster:But if maybe you're someone that would benefit from doing something with a group of people each week, stay involved. I think you're right. I think that wraps us up, gents. Nice one. Thanks very much, guys. That was enjoyable. That's all for this week. That was a fun one as expected. Please tune in each week and please subscribe as well. That's what means that you'll get prompted to watch the next one. It helps us have brilliant guests like Will and helps us keep this show on the road.
