58With us right now, it is Mick Todd. Mick, You are the founder and chairman of 2B Limitless. Your website is 2B, the letter B, limitless.com. Mick, it's great to have you. Josh, I'm so delighted to be here today. I've been looking forward to it all day here in sunny London. London has sun. Well, it is a joyful day. Well, you're quite the world traveler as well, I think based in UAE and Dubai. But Mick, before we kind of get into talking about the work that you do with 2B, I would love to, I always love kind of hearing what high-level leaders do for fun when they're not at work. I don't know what you've been into lately.
49Yeah, I think it's such a great question, Josh. I think carefree time is such a massive up for high-performance people, and especially getting outside and offline. And for me, that goes back to my roots in rugby, actually. So it's out getting outside, playing touch rugby on a Sunday morning, whichever city I'm in, Brisbane, Dubai, London, whichever city that is, getting outside and getting into these natural patterns of movement that I've done for so long in rugby. So where I don't have to think about a proposal or a client, I'm just numbering up, I'm just having a good time. And, you know, that carefree time, it's one of the things I speak to my clients about a lot, because I think if you don't have carefree time, the only thoughts you'll have will be linear thoughts, not lateral ones.
46So I know that that really sets me up to be happy and successful or successful and happy, whichever one comes first. Yeah. Do you like how? So if you're traveling, like, how do you go? How do you get out and play touch rugby with people? How do you find a group to play with? So one of my and people in my community that are listening to this will know this well. But my master strength, I think, is I'm I push the circle wider. I've got great communities wherever I go. So I'm more than happy just to reach out and find myself there. I've built community around wherever I've gone. So I really love that.
31So where you go, you're enrolling people like, all right, everybody, we're going to go play touch rugby. Yeah. And finding a community. And there's so much in community, I think. So I'm constantly focused on that. I love it. I love it. And you don't get hurt. It's touch rugby, thank goodness. Yeah, I'm too old for that getting hurt stuff now. Yeah, I haven't got time for that. No, right, right. Well, tell us about To Be Limitless, the work that you do. Yeah, so we're a coaching and training organization. In fact, we've won the Professional Services Awards Coaching and Training Organisation of the Year.
17We work with great individuals and organisations all over the world. We work in 40 different countries. I'd say we have four core lines. We do executive and coach. We do corporate training and organisational programs. We don't do events. We do processes and programs with great organizations. We run a coaching certification program with the ICF. And we also do outward bound experiential high performance leadership retreats. I've got one coming up in a couple of days time in Thailand on a dive boat in the Andaman Sea. So, yeah, we do some pretty cool stuff. But most importantly, what we're really about is getting the best from and for our people and from and for the teams we work with.
17That's what we really love. When you're working with a client, what would be some of the things that they may be recognizing that there's opportunity to improve? Or maybe there's a pain point that they're sharing with you. What are some of those common pain points that you've seen among clients that you end up serving? It's such a beautiful question. And so there is a variation in the answer, but a lot for most of it, some of the most common things. And I think it's a great quote from Socrates around learning is remembering. What are the things that we need to remember? And I think it's about.
01There's a real piece around engagement. You know, how do we get our teams more engaged? You know, a real piece about alignment. and the clarity of the message you know like so if i look at everything that i see if i if i distilled it down to three things i'd say clarity clear as kind unclear as unkind so how clear are we how disciplined are we around the rituals even know what our rituals are that make us successful as individuals and businesses? And then the next part is, it's not a word that people love to hear, but compliance. Do we know the rules and standards that we all want to set? And how will we be able to repeat about that?
50I always love the insight around Warren Buffett. And it says that Warren Buffett made 98 % of his enormous wealth after the age of 65, but he earned the majority of it before 65. It's just that because of the, how clear he was, how disciplined he was and how compliant he was to his standards, he was able to compound. And I think there's so much in that for individuals and organizations when they can understand, can they be really clear about their vision and their goals? are really disciplined around their rituals? And do they really set standards that they adhere to and get people engaged and excited about?
38So those would be the things I'd really hear if I distilled them down, yeah. And you've been doing this, Mick, for quite a while. Congratulations on your longevity. To be limitless, that I can tell, has been around for over 23 years. That is some longevity. Congratulations on your legacy. And I guess my question here is that you've been doing this for a while. The things that you were addressing 20 years ago, I wonder if those are different today or if there are any common, you know what, this is what people were complaining about 20 years ago. People are still complaining about this. I'm interested to see the differences and similarities that you've experienced today versus back then.
29Well, there's two points to start with as well. Josh, first of all, congratulations to you as well, the longevity of your podcast. I love that. I love to see that. And well done for keeping the color of the hair that you have, because I haven't done the same thing over those 23 years as well. But, yeah, I'm incredibly proud of that. And I think it's what I'd acknowledge in longevity is I've worked with some amazing people. And also I have a brilliant team. And I think that's always the thing that I would like to call out is, gee, because I was thinking about that question this morning. And I really reflected on the fact that, you know, we've seen so many different changes.
20changes and in multiple ways I think that the thing that's still coming up after all of these years is time and the fact that they're not making any more of it and you know for parents, leaders, you know for the group that we're largely talking to on this podcast it's about okay moving away from managing time and looking to manage myself if we know when they're not making any more time how can i maximize the quality time the impact that i want to have as mother as a husband as a leader as a a ceo or as a startup entrepreneur you know like the the time Time is still a big thing and clarity of communication.
16So the repetition around that. And there's a great quote from Rick Lewis who talks about my most important non-human relationship is the relationship I have with women. And how do I maximize that relationship? I think that is still at the heart of the things that I've seen over those 23 years. because this is our one and only life and we don't get, it's not a practice. So how do we maximize it? Well, in 2025, Mick, how do we maximize it? Yeah, it's a great question. Once again, I'm loving that you're hitting me with the great questions, Josh. I believe, and this is my philosophy. So I'm really looking forward to what the listeners have to say as well when we post this together is, do you know what a great week looks like?
15It's one of my favourite questions. And so, because in his great book, Getting Things Done, Dave Allen proposes that either through capacity or conditioning, the week is the number one period of time in high performance, because we've grown up being conditioned to weeks and we don't really remember accurately much more than seven days. So, yeah, we need to have long-term goals and we need to have a strategy, but the fundamental building block is a great week. And do you have rituals that anchor you around what a great week looks like? And are you preparing for a great week? So, for me, it's understanding, And all of those things are going to be different depending on if you're working in a large corporate environment or you're a startup entrepreneur.
09But the anchors will be different, but the week is the same. And if you can start stacking great weeks, that's when the impact really starts to come from a compound interest piece again. That's what I've seen consistently. So in 2025, as in 2000, as probably in 1987 when I was finishing school, understanding a great week and being able to compound around it whilst maintaining a longer view of where you want to be. I think that's still the fundamental answer that I keep on finding with my clients, the people that are successful. And the week will change. What's happening in the week will change, but how they happen to the week around some of these anchor points, that's the thing that fundamentally creates that sort of momentum.
02soon. Your website is tobelimitless.com. To a friend that's listening, and maybe they stumbled upon this episode because they're searching for you or they're searching for the topic that we're talking about, and they're interested in, okay, I'm interested in learning more. Do you mind maybe sharing both resources that you offer? And then how might someone know that it may make sense to engage with you? And what does the beginning of that look like? And I know you've got a great community. I know you've got some great resources, materials, media that you make available. Do you mind sharing all that?
45Yeah, absolutely. And we'll be sharing content and we'll be looking forward to collaborating with you around sharing our content as well. But the big thing for me is in what we do, it's always about our clients. All of our best stories, our only stories worth sharing are about our clients. And so for me, it's not so much what we can do for our clients. It's really listening to our clients to understand what they want us to do, but also what they need us to do for them as well. Sometimes people will come with what they want and it may not be what they need. So we'll really work with them. And I think just something for free just here now is, can you ask yourself the question, right?
35Because the question I would ask is in 12 months time, when we're sitting down having a coffee and you're saying to me, Mick, that was absolutely fantastic because can you answer that question for me? because then that's going to be where I want to help take you. And will that evolve? Sure, it will evolve because we're involved in this little thing called life and it's a collision sport and it's challenging and complex and it doesn't always come at you front on. Sometimes it comes sideways at you. But in 12 months' time when we're sitting down and you're saying to me, that was absolutely fantastic, what have we achieved?
18And then I feel like our team has the tools and the capacity to bring that to life because we've done it so many times before for individuals, teams and organisations. And that's where we're really at. We understand it's not about us, it's about our clients. And we've got the capacity and have the track record to make happen what our clients would like to happen rather than us say, we can do this for you. that yeah sure but it's about you it's about the clients and how we bring their dreams to life yeah mick todd your website to be limitless.com when someone goes to the website what do they click on what do they do uh they well if they go there at the moment they can click on our uh our conference which is uh coming up at the w the palm which we're really excited about we'll have over 500 people at on the palm we'll have uh speakers from sports and corporate and uh organizations from all over the world coming to speak uh about what high performance looks like for them their stories and journey but also you'll get a chance to see our teams our impact our clients, the products that we help develop, just to bring high performance to life for individuals, teams and organisations.
47But you'll also get a chance, I think, to see what our purpose is, which is about because your world needs you at your best. So we're really about bringing the very best out of people. And you'll get to see that in a really bespoke way. and one of the things we say a lot Josh is it's more than work yeah we understand that people put now put so much time into the professional part of their life that it has that the people that they get to support them have to behave like it's more than work and so that's what we really try to focus on as an organization as well and I think it comes It's back in anything that you'll see from us from a feedback perspective.
35All right. Mick Dodd, again, founder, partner of To Be Limitless, the website tobelimitless.com. Mick, thank you so much for joining us. Josh, no, thank you. And congratulations again. Longevity, it's not easy to maintain. And it talks about a standard that you uphold. So congratulations. Very kind of you. Thank you, sir. Have a great one.
