In short
The Toast episode discusses what the hosts watched and the week’s pop-culture headlines, then pivots to “wedding season” coverage. They debate the Netflix/Prime campus romance “L” (they argue it’s corny and the romance plot feels weak despite liking the cast; one host stopped around episode 3–4 and plans to continue). They also react to the FIFA World Cup final: Argentina vs Spain ended 1–1, and they critique the halftime show’s “mishmash” of Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber (“Hallelujah”), Shakira (they say she won), Coldplay, a children’s choir, and celebrity cameos (including Jay-Z’s new look). They then cover two weddings: Paige Paul (Paige Lorenz) and Taylor Fritz, married at Old Westbury Gardens in Long Island with Carolina Herrera and Burberry, plus Maddie Healy and Gabriette Bechtel marrying at Madonna’s former LA estate with a “funeral-esque/ Morticia” dress code. They also discuss Love Island USA Season 8 contracts restricting Peacock exclusivity and limiting other TV appearances (e.g., concerns for Kenzie on Dancing with the Stars).

The fast five things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly. It's the toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to The Toast and happy Monday. The air is clear. So are our hearts and minds. Welcome to The Toast. Hey, Cojourn Fred. What'd you just do? Okay, so like yesterday, Ben and I were in town.
0:36Claudia Oshry:And for those who don't know, I did half a hard hand.
0:38Jackie Oshry:Which is like what the kids do.
0:39Claudia Oshry:Oh, is that what the kids do? Because I sort of made it my own thing. And I just thought it could be like a toaster bat signal. I did it yesterday. I felt like so young.
0:47Jackie Oshry:I was like walking through town and somebody drove by in the car. And they're like, Turdy, we love you. And I was just kind of overwhelmed. So I didn't know what to do. So I was like. It was so like. It's the toaster bat signal. The young kids do.
0:57Claudia Oshry:No, they do their like blood hands. Yeah, but no.
1:00Jackie Oshry:What's the other one where it's like. No, it's like this.
1:05Claudia Oshry:Yeah, so they go like this.
1:06Jackie Oshry:They go like, yeah.
1:07Claudia Oshry:No, no, no. This is the millennial choogy version. And then this is the toaster in the wild bat signal. It was so like. I was hoping the person was recording. We've been doing it.
1:16Jackie Oshry:If you have that video, post it. I was like. So cute. So cute. Happy Monday. I hope everybody had a great weekend. It was kind of a crazy weekend in a sense. And so like it rained a lot. So I actually watched a lot of TV that I need to talk about. You guys, I started off campus. I feel like that has to be the headline news. Absolutely. Headline news. I'm afraid. I haven't really spoken to you about it.
1:33Claudia Oshry:I told you a little bit and I didn't get to watch that much because I'm actually like embarrassed because I didn't start it with Zach.
1:40Jackie Oshry:You can't watch it in front of another person.
1:41Claudia Oshry:No, like and if we'd started it together, then like we're on this journey together. No, that's more embarrassing. No, but like now I can't just like play it and have him see what this is. So I sort of got stuck and I can't press play. What are you up to? Literally the sit on an episode called The Orgasm. Oh, that's like episode three or four. Yeah, and she just got to his house. And I can't just press play right now.
2:05Jackie Oshry:Also, like you're about to reach like a very pivotal scene for reasons like it's not what you think.
2:09Claudia Oshry:Like plot driven. But also like if I just press play and he sits down to watch a scene about like a girl being as heavy. It's horrifying. I just how can I explain myself?
2:17Jackie Oshry:I told you, I watched the entire show over the course of like two separate nights where Ben was playing basketball with your husband. Like you can't watch in front of your partner.
2:24Claudia Oshry:No, I think if we had started together, we'd be like on this journey together and there would be like no judgment from each other because like it's 50-50. No, but like you were the one who suggested it. So there's like more. I guess.
2:34Jackie Oshry:It's like 70-30.
2:34Claudia Oshry:So here's my thing with the show. I want to like the show so badly because it's everything that I love. As I knew that it would be college campus, cuties, love, romance, like feel good. This couple does not give me butterflies like Ellen Miles do. okay I'd hate to be the type of person who watches a porno and then like complains about the plot but like the plot is not strong enough like this deal that they have so that she could like talk to Justin and he's gonna literally upend his whole life to help her talk to Justin to work on his oral of Kierkegaard like it's just not strong enough so every time he like goes above and beyond like holds her hand and like does the most to fake their relationship I'm like the the core reason isn't there so it's a very common trope in like smut which is like faking
3:22Jackie Oshry:a romance and i think that maybe because like you don't read a lot of like fake boyfriend that it like seems kind of stupid and like it is stupid but if you're like immersed in the world like
3:31Claudia Oshry:classic it's a classic trope but even in l they did like a fake boyfriend episode and it worked and like they they dropped it after like the jig was up and you know they didn't have to go and prove this like big huge thing and like she's already like working with Justin on music like you guys and he passed the Kierkegaard ghosting exam so like they could just drop it. They do eventually. Well so that's my issue is that like they're not tethered in like a strong enough way and the plot like isn't strong enough but I really do want to like it. Garrett Graham, Garrett Graham. He's a cutie now. He's cute.
4:04Claudia Oshry:She's cute. I like that she's so bubbly. She's Kate Middleton in the crown and i just i like want to like it even more but i maybe i just have to watch more so my
4:14Jackie Oshry:experience was like around the third or fourth episode i like stopped watching it it was like yeah it's like corny book whatever you just have to be in the right headspace for it i feel like maybe i was luteal and then when you get to follicular like you're open to it because i did stop around where you are i'm like oh this is like silly but i don't want to stop it except for my
4:29Claudia Oshry:embarrassment um no you should keep going i am in the right headspace because i just watched ellen And I'm like, I would love to watch a young romance, nice looking people. All the hockey players are so cute. So cute. And then they all eventually, one of them gets the next season. And the one who fixes up cars and obviously likes her.
4:45Jackie Oshry:So want to hear some more about him? Sure. I didn't know. First of all, he has a huge Broadway background. He's an amazing singer. I just saw a video of him singing the national anthem at a football game. He is the former boyfriend. And kind of the subject of all of, what's her name? Renee Rapp's popular music is about him. and I'll dance with your ghost in the living room. It's about him. He's a major cutie. He's a major cutie. He does start to piss me off. Like you'll see when they get to like the charity event, it's like, okay, we get it. Like he obviously likes her.
5:12Claudia Oshry:That's like not going to work. We have now three people liking her. Yeah. And two days ago, she was like a nerd who like took off his glasses. Meanwhile, she looked the same the whole time. She cut the jugs the whole time.
5:22Jackie Oshry:The jugs. Yeah. Yeah. She's 18. Okay. So you're saying like watch what? no I just I don't know if you knew she's 18 she's like much younger than the actress herself yeah no I wouldn't know that she's much younger than everyone and they're all like 24 25 she's younger
5:37Claudia Oshry:than all of them got it so I think that's why she doesn't do any nudity well that's always funny when it's like a nude show and then the lead sex in the city doesn't do it we never saw them titties on Carrie Bradshaw not once but like sex in the city was also a show like this is a porno but I will say Sex and the City was also like a porno true but I will say considering how much everyone said it's like so sex like be embarrassed to watch it like don't watch it on an airplane there's actually not there's a couple of montages especially because when you have like an enemies to lovers or a fake dating relationship you actually don't get to like the sex until 80 % so they start putting in all these wet dreams just to like simulate the audience it's so true but so yeah it's actually not that much porn no it's more corn than porn like it's really corny
6:20Jackie Oshry:at times
6:22Claudia Oshry:yes Yes. I don't mind the cornyness. Just so you know. I just want it to be like a little more real.
6:27Jackie Oshry:I will say I had a similar experience. Keep going with it. I think you will end up liking it a lot.
6:32Claudia Oshry:I think so too. It has all the makings.
6:34Jackie Oshry:All the things that I watched. I mean, that all the makings of something we both would like. I watched five star weekend. I saw like two more episodes, but I feel like so torn. First of all, it's all coming. I'm remembering so much about the book and I kind of feel like the show's better off if you don't know the big twist because really the show isn't good enough if you already know, you know? And the thing, it's like an Ellen Hildebrand book. It's supposed to be all about Nantucket. Like what Ellen Hildebrand does so good is like she builds this magical world about Nantucket. I mean, I've actually been to Nantucket once, but I don't even remember.
7:03Jackie Oshry:Yeah, we went. But like they really make Nantucket a character in the house. And like, they're just not doing that at all. Like, I don't know if it's on a set or if they really film in Nantucket, but like it's so not Nantuckety. I'm like, give me the, there's no vibes. There's no aura. Like I remember when I watched that show Sirens. I'm like I hated it but I loved that house like we don't even see Jennifer Gartner's house but a lot of the characters are growing on me and I'm remembering like a lot of the plots between the different characters I do think you would really like it it's so corny it's like literally a Hallmark movie in a show I don't know why they had to make it like corny like that Jennifer Gartner like is actually like Gartner yeah she's being like like not a good actress I don't know if she's like doing it on purpose but it's like very corny very like JLo in office romance it's actually good i can't decide i love duran and i love that freaky mom from wellesley i would say
7:49Claudia Oshry:if a wellsy wellesley wellesley hey wellesley i would say if you're not disliking it then it's good that's the bar nowadays yeah if you're confused on if you like it or not it's good not to be that girl like maybe it's just because i read the book i mean that literally is always the case like not even like being facetious like it's just like all of eldon ellen hilder's book
8:12Jackie Oshry:Even if the bad ones, they're all pargy. They all have that very nautical, beachy. I don't really feel like they're doing a good job of world building. Not to be such a narc, but make it more pargy, more aesthetic.
8:23Claudia Oshry:Give me more vibes. Give me the ocean. That happened with Perfect Couple also. And I think it's because they don't film on Nantucket. And maybe because they can't film on Nantucket. But if you can film on Nantucket, don't adapt the books. Agreed.
8:34Jackie Oshry:Because Nantucket is a character in all the books. And I just feel like, it's weird. It's fine. It's good. It's good. It's good. I didn't realize that like that miserable friend Tatum is Chloe Sevigny. She's so random. I saw her on like Good Morning America talking about it. And she was like kind of being rude. The anchor was like, what's it like for you to do something so mainstream? Like you always pick like really artsy or whatever. And she was like, I did it as a gift to my mom. Because like my mom is always, people are asking her like, what's your daughter in? And nobody knows what she's talking about.
9:01Jackie Oshry:And then she goes to the grocery store now and everyone knows what she's talking about. But she said it in like a really, really disrespectful way. I was like, do you hate the project?
Read the full transcript
9:07Claudia Oshry:I just want to say, one, I think that's a pretty good answer. two it's kind of a rude question yes but three a good question well chloe 70 was like i didn't when
9:16Jackie Oshry:i got the script i was like i don't know if like my fans are gonna get this or like this because like it's so different from what i usually do so she did like okay she opened it up for us to be
9:23Claudia Oshry:like you're weird to be criticized you're weird and this is cool yeah why are you doing cool and you're weird yeah yeah um but it's it is a good question so like because she's so random that's
9:32Jackie Oshry:on the cojones for asking what i've ever seen her in but like i know her yeah she's like a classic not a classic she's like a nepo she's just around yeah um so yeah oh did i watch anything else no i didn't get into any more l ben and i restarted mad men no more l no more l like i'm not drawn to it
9:51Claudia Oshry:that's really sad excuse me oh my god bless you you didn't get to a place yet though where like
9:58Jackie Oshry:you could really call it well so ben and i were sitting down for a show torture you and he was like l came up because we were on prime video he's like what's that i'm like oh it's like a prequel show. He was like, I'll watch that. I was like, okay, but we have to start an episode two. I'm not rewatching episode one and two again. And I agreed with you. And he was like, well, I don't want to start a show from the second episode. I'm like, okay, well, then we're going to stand still. So it's Ben's fault. He like wanted to watch it. So it's Ben's fault. Yeah, just like this one episode. I can explain to you and not a lot happened.
10:18Jackie Oshry:Yeah. I fell asleep in the middle of the second one. I didn't realize it was Ben's fault.
10:23Claudia Oshry:That's crazy that you didn't realize that. I'll be speaking with him forthwith. Always is. Forthwith I'll be speaking. What else can we tell everyone? Our butterflies haven't hatched yet. They're still cocooning. Congrats to Spin. Spin. Oh my god I didn't know what you said. Yeah we have World Cup story. We'll get into the stories. I tried so hard like I meant
10:43Jackie Oshry:I can't believe the World Cup is over and I actually cumulatively watched like 10 minutes of the whole thing because like I really meant to get involved.
10:50Claudia Oshry:We watched a bit yesterday like we tried. We did like you know it was the topic of the day. We were out and they were playing it so like of course they were playing it everywhere. We stood and watched it for like 3 minutes then in the car on the way home we listened to the game and that was really fun for everyone. school yeah and then the halftime show came up I was like thank god yeah right music makes the people come together meanwhile oh we were listening to it Zach said it was on the radio and I see that he has his phone watching it were you driving no he was in the front and I was in the third row so like he was able to see um but I listened to the halftime show as an audio only experience like a podcast like a podcast and then we came home and we finished watching the game and And they lost.
11:33Claudia Oshry:The team that you were rooting for. We were rooting for Argentina at the end of the day. That's where our loyalties lie. Congrats to Ben. I guess. We'll get into it. Yeah. We'll get into the drama.
11:43Jackie Oshry:Should we get into it? I guess. Like, what else can we talk about before? Like, I just want to make sure we're, like, fully caught up.
11:50Claudia Oshry:I feel caught up.
11:51Jackie Oshry:Yeah, I feel caught up, too.
11:52Claudia Oshry:Yeah. The skies have cleared, thankfully. That was really crazy. Like, Canada, you're on notice. Big time. Like, that's not good neighborly behavior. Did that, when the California wildfires happened, did that happen to like Mexico? Probably. I don't know if it happened in Mexico. But yeah, definitely the surrounding areas like experienced a lot of smokiness. But that's not very neighborly, I just want to say. It's not a thing a neighbor would do. No, not a good neighbor. Hey, how about that? Right? How about that? Without further ado to do to do, it is time for the Fast Five Stories that Yida Do Need to Know.
12:26Claudia Oshry:And the Fast Five Stories that Yida Do Need to Know are brought to you by Amazon Music. Claudia, I was looking at my phone this morning and realized my home screen is actually embarrassing. I have a different app for everything I'm listening to. Music in one place, podcasts in another, audiobooks somewhere else. It's just too much. No, Jackie, I get it.
12:42Jackie Oshry:And real toasters, no, guys. Research the kingdom. You do not have to live like that if you're constantly bouncing between apps just to find something to listen to. There's a better way. It's Amazon Music. I've been using Amazon Music Unlimited because it has all my music, podcasts, and now audiobooks all in one place. So it's made things so much easier. Speaking of audiobooks, I finally started Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir on there.
13:00Claudia Oshry:Stop, it's so good. I just finished it and there were multiple times where I'd get home and just sit in the driveway or maybe take an extra lap around the block because I could not stop in the middle of a chapter. The narration is incredible and you know how picky I am with audiobooks, Turdy. It's absolutely toast certified.
13:15Jackie Oshry:All right, well you told me this is exactly the kind of book that makes errands feel exciting. So whether you're listening to your favorite playlist, catching up on podcasts, or like Jackie, completely disappearing into an audiobook, having everything in one place just makes life so much easier.
13:26Claudia Oshry:Amazon Music. Music, podcasts, and audiobooks all in one app. Download today to start listening.
13:32Jackie Oshry:Today's episode is also brought to you by Outshine, the official snack of swirly summer. So Outshine frozen treats are just that. They're frozen treats. It's a refreshing snack. 14:01Jackie Oshry:We grew up always eating outshine. They're so good. And the kids love them, too. So it's like a great way to get a frozen snack with fruit in it. So all the bars are made with either real fruit or fruit juice. And they took all the best parts of fruit, like the juicy flavor, the delicious goodness. And they make it easy to enjoy. There's no peeling, no slicing, and no dicing. There's no mess. It's just real fruit and fruit juice being transformed into a refreshing bar that tastes like biting into a ripe piece of fruit. 19:01Claudia Oshry:Oh, that's why you couldn't say J-U-R-T. From all the ad breaks. It's obviously a lot of work. Yeah. Thank you to our sponsors. Oh, God.
19:09Jackie Oshry:Endlessly grateful. Endlessly. And if you are listening to this and you run budget for a major brand. Send them our way. We love budget. And we can do a lot with budget. We can do a lot with the budget.
19:22Claudia Oshry:Actually, we're kind of overextended right now. So don't reach out. No, you can. It's a long year, you know. our first story fifa world cup final game yesterday in new jersey i did not see a minute of it like argentina versus spain spain 1-1-0 sad for leonel messi it's crazy that people like watched a game that was like many hours long to see one goal yeah that's crazy yeah it was a fierce competition and justin bieber madonna bts and shakira divided the world cup audience with what some say was an underwhelming halftime show what i heard was that it was just like a little
20:00Jackie Oshry:like a lot a little a lot yeah it was like a little all over the place well so from i think
20:06Claudia Oshry:my thing is like so they picked like five artists and truly these artists worked in a silo right madonna came out she left sang her way through that's our girl then um bts did a performance of dynamite which stellar choice just stellar like now that is a global hit i guess so is like music so is music by madonna but and when we were listening to the audio only version in the car zach and i were saying like this song is just so good it is and i don't know why it doesn't get played at more weddings i feel like it does and he said this should be a wedding song like i feel like it is and then we're thinking back i'm like i guess i haven't heard it at a wedding if you're having a wedding add dynamite to walk down the aisle to dynamite add dynamite to the
20:49Jackie Oshry:playlist agreed it's a real crowd pleaser it's just like joyful it's so good so happy to see
20:53Claudia Oshry:well here are the boys then they went to ted lasso presenting justin bieber so jason today
21:01Jackie Oshry:that's like americans only know soccer from ted lasso okay so he like made a cameo and he presented
21:05Claudia Oshry:justin bieber who sang hallelujah right which is not the vibe i know um i'm always very happy to see Justin Bieber like successfully complete a performance and sound good and look good and feel good so like and they bring home a check to that wonderful family of his I'm not going to criticize and this song is huge right now everything hallelujah yeah toast is on hallelujah you should have done this just take it time honey I get it I get it I get it I love that song no I'm sorry you know what he should have done because this song is like I don't know why it feels like it's being played more than ever Beauty and a Beat yeah where was I just we were just at the fair
21:43Jackie Oshry:Oh, we went to like a children's fair.
21:44Claudia Oshry:Let me tell you, like, and they obviously played the clean version. But like, I was popping my pussy. They actually didn't play the clean versions of songs. Like, they played California Girls and Snoop Dogg said, all that ass hanging out. Is that how they looked at each other? You're kidding.
21:55Jackie Oshry:They're like, all that, what, hanging out? Wait, that's crazy. No, Beauty and a Beat is a timeless song. And like, yeah, BTS sang a song from five years ago. Yeah. Works for me. Yeah. So, I mean, they can't, he can't really sing that song to completion. Because he's got to keep an eye out for Celine. and like nobody wants to bring on like that crazy bitch's energy.
22:15Claudia Oshry:But if Nikki didn't come and do it with him and he just does it and like skips the bridge. Like the rap part. Yeah. We could do it. Anyways, there are so many songs of his that he could have sang. The Hallelujah song is actually very viral. Yeah, it's so popular. Everyone is Hallelujah. But we're talking about vibes.
22:32Jackie Oshry:Like I saw like it was like a bright, colorful, like big thing. I saw people were crying because it was just like very emotional. Like, you know, so many people from so many different countries all coming together. And it's like, yeah, that's just like a random slow song.
22:43Claudia Oshry:Yeah, it's just too slow.
22:47Claudia Oshry:Then, oh, Shakira. I think Shakira won the halftime show. I agree. She did what she was called to do. Correct. Like the vibes, like the aesthetic. The dancing, the energy.
22:58Jackie Oshry:It was all like what you would have come to expect from the FIFA World Cup halftime show.
23:02Claudia Oshry:Yes. And then, oh, and at some point the Muppets were there. Okay. and then Coldplay and the children's choir and it wasn't really amazing like it looked amazing but I don't know what song they sang and Jennifer Hudson singing the national anthem but that was
23:19Jackie Oshry:not in the half time no no I know but like she did exactly what we thought she was gonna do
23:22Claudia Oshry:but the Coldplay like what was that song well I don't even know what it's called I feel like
23:29Jackie Oshry:Coldplay has like a lot of like really emphatic fans I've never been like I've no problem with Coldplay they're lovely people and of course Viva La Vida I'm always saying Viva La Vida I just like and people like go to their concerts and like do ayahuasca and it's like a really meaningful thing I never really like got into it I like the beat of course but they don't but I think like when they perform like people can't criticize it it's like
23:52Claudia Oshry:here I'll go I'll go the fuck was that song like sing Viva La Vida sing Sky Full of Stars Sky Full of Stars Fix You Yellow Fix You Yellow well those actually Don't sing Fix You Yellow. Sing Fix You Yellow. Like, I'll be brought to my knees for Fix You Yellow. It's true. And, like, the whole show doesn't have to be, like, upbeat the whole time. Like, we can have, like, a moment of reflection. Like, if we have the children's choir, lights will guide you home. And it's the little kids and they're holding candles. Like, I'm sad for that. Oh, wait.
24:20Jackie Oshry:Also, there was a lot of celebrities there. Did you see Jay-Z's major transformation?
24:23Claudia Oshry:No.
24:24Jackie Oshry:He looked so different. Like, obviously, Beyonce was like, yeah. Beyonce was like, it's time. Like, you're Tad Bud. Like, because he looked so fit. But he was just at the party and he looked like Jay-Z. I think, wait, what party are you talking about? Michael Rubin's party. Yeah, I think that was where he debuted his new look. We didn't get to talk about it on the toast. But he looks like a young Jay. He looks really good. I'm happy for him.
24:43Claudia Oshry:Yeah. That's nice. Kylie and Timothy were there. And Timothy brought out the game ball. The World Cup was just like a mishmash of celebrity and clout chasing. I guess it's cool. And I'm never going to be mad that Timothy brought out the game ball, which made Kylie go to the World Cup and kiss. Which she's being heavily criticized for. Kiss on camera because her grandmother died. You guys don't give a fuck about MJ. Kylie does. If that's how she wants to heal, let her. You guys don't give a fuck about MJ. Like, I don't know. Like, you don't know.
25:06Jackie Oshry:She's not your grandma.
25:07Claudia Oshry:Right. Like, the idea that, like, people are saying, oh, you should be grieving MJ.
25:10Jackie Oshry:You care more about MJ than Kylie does. It's like, MJ would want Kylie to go kiss her boyfriend at the FIFA World Cup. A hundred percent. Like, because that was what they keep saying about MJ. Like, she was, like, her whole legacy is just, like, life and love. And, like, yeah. Go life, love. Live, love, love.
25:24Claudia Oshry:And, like, if it's not the funeral.
25:25Jackie Oshry:Right.
25:26Claudia Oshry:What are you supposed to do? What are you supposed to do? Just, like, hang around and cry? Right.
25:32Jackie Oshry:No, no.
25:33Claudia Oshry:And what are you accusing her of? Not loving or caring about her grandma? We know that's not true. It's a major accusation. And we know it's not true because we know her and you should trust your fucking babes. I'm sick of this. Absolutely. I'm sick of this. Like, please. Please. Disgusting. 100%. And they kissed. Like, you're welcome.
25:50Jackie Oshry:Thanks, MJ. Thank you. Like, for real.
25:52Claudia Oshry:Yeah.
25:52Jackie Oshry:She was probably, like, so overcome she needed support. So she got a kiss.
25:56Claudia Oshry:Yeah. And she was wearing all black.
25:57Jackie Oshry:It's actually really crazy how long they've been together.
26:00Claudia Oshry:I know.
26:00Jackie Oshry:Like, they're a real couple. They're a couple that feels like a real couple. Of course. Like, I'm sort of waiting now for next steps.
26:07Claudia Oshry:I am waiting for another step to be taken.
26:09Jackie Oshry:Yeah.
26:10Claudia Oshry:Whether that's an engagement or a child.
26:13Jackie Oshry:Speaking of things we're waiting for, still don't tell us with wedding pictures.
26:16Claudia Oshry:And I'm starting to think, like, maybe we won't get them. Perhaps. But you know what? That's a great segue to our next. To the wedding pictures we did get. The wedding pictures we did get this weekend. First up on Friday, we got Paige Lorenz. Excuse me. Paige Paul. May Lorenz.
26:27Jackie Oshry:I love, first of all, when a girl the night of her wedding decides that she's going by Lauren Lane. I don't even remember when she was Lauren Bushnell. And sometimes you just get a really good married name. Like Lauren Lane, so cute. Paige Paul, so cute. I love when girls just dive in, change Instagram. So I'm going to have to start calling her Paige Paul. I have a hard time moving on from women's maiden names. It's the feminist in me. I feel like you'll be okay moving on from Lorenz. Absolutely. It was kind of like the worst thing about Paige Lorenz, like being her number one fan, was her sharing a last name with my mortal enemy.
26:59Jackie Oshry:So this is beautiful. Yeah, totally. I've never even put that together.
27:03Claudia Oshry:Yeah. Paige Paul dropped the wedding photos with the Vogue exclusive on Friday. So they got married last week at Old Westbury Gardens in Long Island. The bride wore custom Carolina Herrera. The groom wore Burberry.
27:16Jackie Oshry:The bride wore custom Carolina Herrera and did like a whole video series with the fittings like with Wes Gordon himself. I'm sorry, that's like so iconic for an influencer. or whatever you want to call her. I don't even know what the hell she is. She's like a mega whatever. But like, I'm sorry. When I saw Wes Gordon, I was like, oh my God. Like it's a real Caroline. Not like off the rack. Yeah, no. A Wes Gordon original. Like that's insane.
27:37Claudia Oshry:Yeah. That's insane. It is insane. The content and the rollout was 100 % perfect. Not that you would expect anything else, but like you're also getting married. So it's like hard to also like get the pictures, do the selects. Fire on all cylinders. Do the selects between Wednesday and Friday. And then they also, it's good that they did that fitting interview because she's like dressed like for her wedding. She's like, you know, has her hair and makeup done, but she doesn't have to do it on her wedding day, like talking about the dress selection.
28:01Jackie Oshry:Yeah, we got like a bunch of photos. We got a couple of videos like of them at their rehearsal dinner. Her dress was insane. It was like this strapless, like a very interesting different neckline with a drop, like it was so classic drop waist. I don't know what I was expecting because like she is a sort of like modern woman, you know, but it was oddly like very traditional ball gown. She looked insane.
28:22Claudia Oshry:She is traditional and her aesthetic is like very like Like cottage core. So it was like, she could have gone so many different directions. And I'm sure it's also a lot of pressure. A thousand percent. Because like the bar is so high for her. Yeah.
28:33Jackie Oshry:And she met it. She had two outfit changes, right? I saw her in then like a halter, very Meghan Markle second dress. Yes.
28:38Claudia Oshry:With like a big bow on the tush. And then she also said the bow comes off. And then she changed into a mini dress. A Wiedershoff mini dress.
28:46Jackie Oshry:So cute. We got so many pictures. We got confirmation that Olivia Jade was there with Taylor Fritz. Like it was genuinely too much. It was genuinely too much. And I feel like this is something I personally had FOMO from. Like I saw the pictures. It looked like such a regular wedding. Like a bunch of like just friends dancing and drinking. Obviously it was like a very high budget regular wedding. But it didn't look so like. Over the top. Or like I think a lot of celebrity weddings are like so formal and weird. And like everyone doesn't know each other. And it's just like not like your friend from college's wedding.
29:14Jackie Oshry:Which is like always so much fun. It just looked fun. Yeah. It was fun. Like her with her beer throwing her bouquet.
29:20Claudia Oshry:Yeah. And like not huge. in terms of people no they did like an aerial shot i would say like 150 max no i think this wedding is like it's the sophia richie wedding of this year or of like the influencers no in terms of like setting the trend and i feel like this is more of like a regression in terms of like sort of stripping back you know it was very like monk's nature it wasn't like crazy i think her getting it in before taylor like if you're following wedding trends like i feel like she's this is going to be a trend of just like a classic traditional wedding do you think that we're gonna get taylor picks like i'm just now starting to feel like maybe we won't yes i do and why wait so long i like they're not coming in any like sort of ig dump or whatever but also
30:09Jackie Oshry:you don't think we're getting like a instagram dump how would we get it no music video something
30:15Claudia Oshry:music video yeah like something different maybe in a couple months like it's not like coming any minute yeah but also like i was actually feeling like overwhelmed for page and then also for taylor like you wake up from your wedding day you have to sort through all these photos edits etc approvals send this to this publication like it's a lot of like logistical work and taylor's run out the clock she has but like it does take a week and page turned it around really quickly no and when
30:43Jackie Oshry:you have a an event that's full of influencers celebrities like people just take pictures like So everyone's sitting on their hands.
30:50Claudia Oshry:No one's posting because they're waiting for you to post. But like if you take too long to post, then the other influencers aren't going to post like that much two weeks from a set date. They have their own content calendars. It's a very tight week. But she got in under the window. And I said by end of week. And she got it in by end of week because when it gets into the next week, like of course we're on to next week's business, the World Cup, etc. She got that Vogue exclusive. And she got the Vogue exclusive. She got that Vogue exclusive. Very beautiful. And I heard it was also very like emotional.
31:16Claudia Oshry:Tommy was crying. Love. Yeah. So, like, love was in the air. I think Remy caught the bouquet. I think she did, too. But then she gave it to someone. I don't know if it was a known person. They were, like, fighting over the bouquet and then LOL. Have you ever caught a bouquet? I feel like yes.
31:37Jackie Oshry:I feel like I can't remember a time where I've been to a wedding where they threw the bouquet. It's, like, not a – it sounds like every wedding, is it? no it's like a cute thing to do no it's so cute but i think most of the weddings i have been to are like modern orthodox and like that's not a thing but although i don't know why it wouldn't be but like literally i can't remember a time where i've ever seen a bouquet being thrown
32:03Claudia Oshry:it might be it's towards the end of the night like you might not be always leaving early the dance floor for sure yeah you're gone one thing about me i'm leaving i do think i caught the bouquet once and that was exciting but it's a lot of pressure and it worked it worked yeah it's a lot of pressure that everyone's looking at you or i guess maybe like you're not supposed to stand
32:19Jackie Oshry:there if you're already married so maybe that's why i've been married since i'm 12 it's more so
32:23Claudia Oshry:that maybe that's it yeah it's more so that our next story some more wedding news maddie healy and gabriette bechtel married in a star-studded la wedding at madonna's former estate so maddie healy the 1975 front man and his model fiancee now wife gabriette bechtel and i just looked and I don't think she's related to the Bechdel test.
32:44Jackie Oshry:Yeah, I was thinking that too.
32:45Claudia Oshry:They got married this weekend at Madonna's former LA estate. Some aerial photos dropped. You know, that's exactly what Taylor didn't want to happen. We haven't gotten the official photos yet. And they look very happy.
32:59Jackie Oshry:It's like very aesthetically them. Like, you know, her, okay, her dress was made by, I'm sure you saw the recent Odyssey premiere, where Zendaya wore like that sick. and I saw an interview that... By Fecals? It's a brand called like Matias Fecal, which is Fecal Matter. That's the name of the brand. That's what Gabriette wore too, Fecal Matter. Well, that makes sense for Gabriette.
33:20Claudia Oshry:But like, why is that the name of your company? I don't know. Duty? I don't know. I'm just going to say it's like above my pay grade. Like, I don't understand. She wore duty.
33:29Jackie Oshry:The bride wore a dress by duty. It was star-studded with like that particular corner of Hollywood that like, I don't like. Yeah. The Charlie XCX, 1975 crew.
33:39Claudia Oshry:um Stas was there Stas baby baby Stas I think Stas is a grand old time yeah everybody wants to be around her and invite her to their affairs I think we can confirm there was zero crossover
33:52Jackie Oshry:in terms of people who were invited to both weddings it is really crazy that like I guess after this like decades long tawdry relationship that Taylor and Maddie Healy had they both got married got married in the same week but also like the next relationship after each other like
34:06Claudia Oshry:was the one. Yeah. Well, I do feel like Taylor, not to say, not to like disparage our relationship at all because these two seem like two peas in a pod. But I do think Taylor put him on notice a little bit, like sort of calling out his behaviors. Oh, maybe. That like, you know, he wants to prove her wrong and so the next one is going to be the one. Maybe. Yeah, maybe. It's just weird. Like, what are the odds? Yeah, it's also crazy that like this was the life that at one point Taylor wanted for herself. Like this vibe, this energy. these people. And instead she wound up having the biggest... Glamorous, this is so artsy cigarette.
34:44Claudia Oshry:Yeah, except the actual ceremony is not artsy. It does. It's not really artsy cigarette. No, but their whole vibe is... Oh, and everyone wore black.
34:52Jackie Oshry:Oh, yes. The dress code was funeral-esque. The dress aesthetic was shredded at the bottom and had these big bell sleeves. What's her name? Victoria... Wednesday, Adam's mom. Morticia. Morticia. Very Morticia. Which is like her thing. She has like pale skin and dark hair. But also the hair. Yeah, and Taylor went, I know we don't know what her. But also the hair.
35:12Claudia Oshry:Very Amy Winehouse. Very Teresa Giudice.
35:15Jackie Oshry:Yes, inspo pic. So we don't know what Taylor's vibe was, but based on what we know about her, it was like very grand, romantic love story. Princess Fairy Tale Castle. Yeah.
35:24Claudia Oshry:Raffles, Chanel bags.
35:25Jackie Oshry:So if she did end up getting married to Maddie Healy, like what would the vibe have been? Her life would be completely different. It would be so dark. Yeah. I mean like literally.
35:33Claudia Oshry:But these two are perfect together. Agreed. Mazel Tov. There's a lid for every pot. 1 ,000%. And I have no doubt in their love. That you'll be together forever. Well, I don't know about that because there are famous people and life happens and things get crazy. But I have no doubt in their love. Yeah. You know? And their compatibility. Yes. Yes. So Mazel Tov to all the weddings. I guess it's wedding season. Oh, yeah.
35:57Jackie Oshry:It's butterfly season. I'm finding my wings. Yeah, I guess it is wedding season.
36:03Claudia Oshry:Yeah, we've had a lot this month. Very exciting. Yeah, Mazel Tov to all the happy couples. Our next story is very interesting. I don't know if you've seen this yet, but a report has come out about the Love Island USA Season 8 contracts.
36:15Jackie Oshry:I don't know. I didn't see this.
36:16Claudia Oshry:Yes.
36:17Jackie Oshry:I just saw that Melanie had her hair picked. I saw. People are saying it's a breakup haircut.
36:21Claudia Oshry:I think it's like a wig, no? It's like a breakup hairstyle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's just like doing something different. Yeah. No, but people were talking about Kenzie on Dancing with the Stars, right? Oh. And Hollywood Reporter put out an article saying a Love Island USA season eight star on Dancing with the Stars don't bet on it. So basically for the first time this season, the contracts are different than they've been in previous seasons where the Love Island Islanders have a one year exclusive with Peacock. And not only do they like have to approve any other shows, which Dancing with the Stars would be outside of that, but brand deals, everything so that they don't compete with like Love Island and Peacock's own brand deals.
36:57Claudia Oshry:I think they're going to like really manage what they do and like slot them in. I'm sure they'll also get them brand deals.
37:02Jackie Oshry:Amaya, Papaya and Hannah from last season doing a big Maybelline commercials. It's like every time you open TikTok, it's right there.
37:08Claudia Oshry:Yeah. So I guess like for this season, I mean, it makes, actually, I don't know that it makes sense, but like. It's crazy.
37:13Jackie Oshry:I mean, it's a good financial managerial decision on the network's behalf because like you are making these people huge stars and you have a lot of sponsors. Like I totally get it, but it's just crazy because like even in like the craziest of contracts, like I feel like Bachelor Nation, like those contracts were so crazy. they never really restricted anyone's brand deals. Yeah.
37:30Claudia Oshry:Yeah. That's crazy. So I guess it's like a price that you have to pay now to go on the show. And I'm sure they'll get them great brand deals, but it is like very limiting. And it'll probably keep them from doing like shitty stuff. Yeah, but I guess it also means that like, so, okay, so what?
37:44Jackie Oshry:There's traders. Like what else? You know what I mean? Like you can't go on shows that aren't Peacock. So what else? Do they need more shows? I guess they have that. No.
37:50Claudia Oshry:Yeah, but also it's like they could go on it after a year, but then after a year it's sort of like. We don't care. Yeah. So that's a bummer for Kenzie. But I feel like they should approve her going on Dancing with the Stars. It's good for Love Island. Because that raises the stock of everything.
38:02Jackie Oshry:A thousand percent. But they won't. That's like their biggest competitor. Hulu, ABC.
38:06Claudia Oshry:Yeah. And even though like Maura.
38:10Jackie Oshry:That was years ago.
38:11Claudia Oshry:Years ago.
38:11Jackie Oshry:Sierra is at NBC. But they don't have contract stipulations like that. No. Because people from Bravo and other networks like go on other shows.
38:18Claudia Oshry:Yeah. Yeah. So it is like sad for Kenzie. It's sad. Not sad for the Islanders. but I definitely feel like they're, they're limited. That sucks. I wonder if they like, if a single one of them read the contract,
38:29Jackie Oshry:because it's not the type of contract you can like negotiate. Like you just sign it.
38:33Claudia Oshry:Yeah. And it's like, this is the cost of 2 million followers, but you know, you play their game for a year and they'll get you brand deals and they'll put you in stuff. It's just what they want it to be. And then in a year from now you have a career. Okay. Yeah.
38:45Jackie Oshry:And you're busy for that year. Like they do a lot of like integrated partnerships with Peacock. Like I just said, like the Maybelline thing with Amaya. Like they get them gigs.
38:54Claudia Oshry:Yeah, smearing off ice with Nick. They get them gigs. I feel like people are finally starting to talk about what Nick did to Sierra. Do you feel that?
39:01Jackie Oshry:I thought you were talking about Nick Viola and I was just like nodding my head. I have no idea what you're talking about. I mean, I don't know because like the people I surround myself with have been talking about it for a while. I just saw like a couple of viral tweets. Oh, I did too because like,
39:12Claudia Oshry:I hate to be the dead horse. Nicolandria did an interview. Was that with the New York Times or they just used the same font? Oh, was it? It's in our chat. Oh, was it? Mm-hmm.
39:22Jackie Oshry:Oh, my God. Hold on.
39:24Claudia Oshry:Check it out.
39:27Jackie Oshry:Okay. So they did an interview with... Yeah, it's our competitors. I think it's PopCast, right? Okay. Like that New York Times daily podcast. Good for them getting Nicolandria. Wonder where they got that idea. Here, I'll play it for you guys. This is a clip from their podcast. Resonated with the game, and then they see him yearning. Like, you don't really see me in the yearning for women. in this day and age. And then with him being a fair-skinned male, and I'm a dark-skinned female, but seeing him, seeing me being loved out loud resonated with a lot of people in my community. It's like, oh, this is beautiful.
39:59Jackie Oshry:Like, dark-skinned black woman being yearned for and loved out loud by someone that looks like Nick. It's like, this is beautiful. Like, this is like healing the world in a sense, because you don't see this often. Especially not in real time. So that was an interview they did with the New York Times. And people, yes. This account, hashtag free Melanie. he's spent the whole summer in sierra's guts and they painted that as yearning if old girl never got sent home he would have left that house with her no shade it's a viral tweet we have been saying those exact words and like it's very hard to watch um them pretend that that's not the case there has i do feel like there's been a little bit of justice for sierra i followed her on tiktok since last season and she's always just been like doing her influencer the way people change up is so quickly because like for the first couple of months after love island her comments were vile.
40:48Jackie Oshry:Like seriously, I don't know how she didn't quit the internet entirely. Now people are like, I'm so glad I never like this comment, if you've never hated Ciara, like they're all gassing her up. And there's also like a lot of drama going on with their particular cast and like Clark and everything. But people are...
41:01Claudia Oshry:What's the drama? I don't know.
41:03Jackie Oshry:Did Taylor cheat on Clark? No, like Andrina? Something about Andrina. I don't know. I can't keep up with like, I'm sorry, I can't keep up with everyone. But it's just funny to switch up. Like people love her now. And I do think yes, we're taking... But you know what? It's the same thing with Amaya. Yeah, people are like, a video of her saying one of her crazy weird things went viral again. And people are like, this tweet went viral, I quoted it. And it was like, what did we do? And it's like, we didn't do anything. So yeah, I think a lot of people are having reflections on how crazy they were last season.
41:30Jackie Oshry:I don't need to reflect because the proof is on my podcast. I never believed that Amaya should win. And I never believed those two were in love.
41:38Claudia Oshry:No.
41:38Jackie Oshry:And I always believed Nick was wrong for what he did to Ciara.
41:41Claudia Oshry:He certainly wasn't loving her out loud.
41:44Jackie Oshry:they kissed once and they both said that it wasn't the right match and what are we talking about he
41:48Claudia Oshry:was being like a good friend to her out loud and i and that was really like they had a nice friendship supportive king but like every time they did their like you know speeches they are
41:56Jackie Oshry:they are now and now that a whole year has passed and another season has come i do think they're feeling a little bit more free to rewrite history because they are retelling things that never happened yeah loved out loud okay are you ready for our fifth and final story oh my god that was so quick. 47:37Claudia Oshry:For the final story, we actually need to talk about Gracie Abrams. New album. New album called Daughter from Hell. She's like sitting down with Olivia Rodrigo to explain the lyrics and meaning behind a lot of the songs. Now there's one song on the album called Death Wish. Have you listened to it yet?
47:53Jackie Oshry:I have. And Liz Woods did like a whole investigation into the song being about Taylor Swift. Kelly Teller then used a song on Instagram twice. Yeah. Thus fueling.
48:03Claudia Oshry:And it's not like a single from the album. It's just like a random song on the album right now.
48:08Jackie Oshry:There is proof that the song was written like many years ago. Also, Gracie just went to Taylor's wedding. The whole Joe Alwyn screenshot in the carousel is still weird to me. I'm not talked about enough and I'm not letting her get away with that. But like I want to go down the rabbit hole with Liz. But like the fact remains that she was just at the wedding. What else could this song be about?
48:28Claudia Oshry:It's just about like someone you fucking hate. And then Olivia is talking to Gracie, which first of all, she's talking to the enemy to begin with. So she's obviously. Well, I think both Taylor and Olivia would maintain publicly
48:38Jackie Oshry:that there's no issue between them. They both fucking hate each other. But I don't know if like Taylor would stop Gracie from like doing a promotional thing with Olivia. You know what I mean?
48:47Claudia Oshry:No, but if Gracie and Taylor are really close, then like you would just. Ride for your friend. You wouldn't be so public. And then. Yeah. Okay. So then they're doing their interview and Olivia starts talking about how Death Wish means so much to her and it makes her so emotional. And I need to read the lyrics because I can't even conceive what else it could be about.
49:05Jackie Oshry:The Kelly Teller thing. I just want to check something really quick. Does Kelly Teller... Hold on.
49:20Okay.
49:21Claudia Oshry:So this is what Olivia Rodrigo said about
49:27Jackie Oshry:about this song in particular she said
49:29Claudia Oshry:Death Wish oh thank you I remember watching that many of you performing at the O2 and being like oh my god that song is so so beautiful and every lyric feels so poignant like it feels like there's no filler lyrics in it it's just like perfect and I love that song
49:43Jackie Oshry:and that was another one that was making me really misty eyed yesterday and can't talk about it like it was so so gorgeous thank you Like, yes, all of these things. But the fact remains is that Gracie was just at her wedding. The song was written and the album came out long before. You could have turned down the invitation.
50:01Claudia Oshry:You hate this person so much. Listen to the lyrics. My love, you love your time machine, your power trips and diamond rings. The walls you built on teenage dreams, the well you dug for sinking things. Your words to kill are evergreen, so you must not feel anything at all. But how'd you get so bulletproof? you trade your time for inside truths trade your time for any clue of what to do or not to do hate to say it's nothing new aside from nothing new is a taylor song aside from those few girls you keep around yeah um for sure and what's the proof that this was written so long ago like i don't know but it was like this song has
50:46Jackie Oshry:just how would anyone know that oh because like a lot of gracie's songs like the first one close to you like that she literally was like a tiktok sound like she made a video of it you know you like you tease a song on instagram um listen how and also like the wedding like what are like i oh it almost feels like unless maybe did gracie not go like maybe was she going somewhere else in a ball gown that night i think a lot of people like who were in ball gowns that night like took advantage of the narrative and like let people think they went to the wedding like maybe she didn't like why the fuck did she post that picture of joe alwyn like we as a culture we moved on from
51:16Claudia Oshry:that too quickly listen how will it end how long will you give me oh sorry till you twist the knife with a smile while you kill me then you ask me to dance if there's someone around you don't look the same when i look at you now honey pie you're haunting honey pie you're haunting me i fell for your faux fantasy you poured the wine there's poison in it disregard my disposition proof is in the subtle things your eggshell floor is splintering and it freaks me out I'm old enough to know you as a gateway drug you're everything I'll never be you live to look for enemies
51:48Jackie Oshry:so like there is a thought a school of thought okay that tail no no I'm just saying like for people maybe don't know why this is about Taylor opposing school no no school of thought that like Taylor uses other rising artists you know for her benefit just so no one can like really overtake her and I think that Olivia Rodrigo was the first time in a really long time where anyone like really ever threatened to impede on what Taylor has built, you know, her songwriting and all that. And then so, you know, Taylor destroyed her because of it, even though Olivia Rodrigo
52:14Claudia Oshry:is completely fine. I don't think that that's what I just want to say, as someone who's like looking into this, I don't think that it's that, that it's that.
52:22Jackie Oshry:I think that Taylor engages with young artists in a way that's convenient for her. Agreed. And I actually think we were talking about this literally last week that like you could like you know I think sometimes
52:34Jackie Oshry:like I think she was actually very generous with Gracie like I think of all the artists she like brings into her fold that she like lifts up some people think she just keeps them close but like with Gracie like she had a song on Gracie's first album like that's huge so I think of all the people who maybe could complain Gracie's like don't bite the hand that feeds you I think a lot of people only know about Gracie Abrams because of Taylor Taylor brought her out so I don't know why
52:58Claudia Oshry:she would be mad She seems to be like acknowledging that. How will it end? How long will you give me? Like she is supporting me. Well, you're still in it. So what are you complaining about? Or maybe she's not.
53:07Jackie Oshry:I do also think Taylor has changed up like how she, I think it was like a little obvious how she was like interacting with people, you know, and like the whole Olivia Rodrigo thing. So that when the time came for her to lift up like Sabrina, I think she has changed up how she interacts with the young artists because it was like a little obvious. Do you know what I mean? That she was like. Just sort of like keeping them close. Under her thumb. Or only really, like, could she lift up anybody more than Haim? Non-threatening. Like, she only really lifts up people who are non-threatening. And I do think she has changed that because people, like, it's kind of obvious, like, what was going on.
53:40Jackie Oshry:So now, like, with Sabrina, like, you can't say she doesn't support other artists. Sabrina opened for her and she did a song with Sabrina. So, like, she doesn't do that anymore because it was obvious. But I do think just as, like, a person who has a lot to lose, like, you are meticulous with how you engage with your competitors. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. But maybe if I was in it, I would feel differently.
53:59Claudia Oshry:Like if I was a young artist, you know? Yeah. And then there's just like this basket of discards. Yeah. Who are saying to be talking to each other. Who are the discards?
54:08Jackie Oshry:Well, I would have thought that like Kelsey Ballerini was a discard. But then Kelsey Ballerini was at the wedding. You know what I mean? Yeah. There are people who she was like super tight with. No, but it's like Taylor's not mad at them. Right, right. And so it does feel like she also, like everyone she sits next to at an award show. Halsey, not at the wedding. Camila Cabello. But still best friends. Like they went to like that's what I mean. The wedding was sort of affirmative of a lot of relationships. Like for me, Kelsey Ballerini.
54:30Claudia Oshry:No, but it's like so say, you know, she lifted up Kelsey while it was convenient for her and then like didn't when it was no longer convenient and moved on, whatever. She has no issue with Kelsey. So she would invite Kelsey to the wedding. Now, why would Kelsey not go? Right. Unless Kelsey had an issue with her. Maybe Halsey has an issue. Or I'm sure Halsey has an issue like with everyone. Yeah. But no, even if Kelsey has an issue with her, it's like this is it's like being invited to the Met Gala. just because I have an issue with Anna Wintour I'm going
54:54Jackie Oshry:100 % 100 % that's why it makes people who weren't there Lana Del Rey like a really big deal
55:00Claudia Oshry:that's insane that Lana Del Rey wasn't there
55:03Jackie Oshry:yeah yeah the only thing I'm confused about is like why Gracie Abrams would go to a wedding that she then the next week releases a song about you know but the Joe Alwyn thing like I was actually thinking about that before bed the other night like that was fucking weird you're weird for that I just and if you hate Taylor like stand on business you know I just. People who hate Taylor and then like go to the wedding.
55:26Claudia Oshry:Well, that's lame. I just would like someone to present and tell me what this song is about, if not Taylor. So for those of you who were saying it was written four years ago, could it be about a guy? I guess so.
55:39Jackie Oshry:Right. No pronouns were used in the making of this song, which also feels intentional.
55:43Claudia Oshry:Your light of a million suns burns through people and bridges and cities till ash covers ground. A breath of your air is a death wish. and you're forcing my hand, but I'm a drop in your ocean. Okay, Ron Pope. I ruined your plans of some grand self-promotion.
56:01Jackie Oshry:Well, I do want to say Gracie thinks extremely highly of herself because when I do think about the artists who at one point in time could have or have threatened Taylor's position in the music industry, like no offense, Gracie's name never crossed my mind. So I think she thinks quite highly of herself. But also I do think when you were reading the lyrics, the use of the phrase nothing new, which of course Taylor didn't invent that lyric. But Taylor does have a song. And Taylor has a lot of songs. But to reference that song is about younger artists. Will you still want me when I'm nothing new? It's about like a younger version like coming and superseding.
56:34Jackie Oshry:It's like Taylor's worst nightmare come to life of like younger artists who can shine brighter than her coming and taking over what she's built. That is what the song is about.
56:42Claudia Oshry:Okay, here's more information from Genius.com. It was produced by Aaron Dessner. Oh yeah, which people have pointed out like couldn't possibly be a Taylor diss track. It was, this song was debuted live at the O2 that Olivia was talking about on March 2025 at the London stop of her tour. Okay, so it's a year ago. She said, this song is about a friend of mine who recently was dating like a mega narcissist. A sincere friend of mine was recently dating someone who kind of sucked and I was listening to them talk about it a lot and so this song is about that. Yeah, you could say that about any song and I think, yes, I think you should lie about what your songs are about in order to like, plausible deniability and let people like envision their own lives through music yeah um yeah because like she went to the wedding and what does it say about us that we think it's about taylor and i
57:27Jackie Oshry:think that like maybe if there are people who like want to complain about how taylor has treated them like there could be people with valid arguments but i just want to say like gracie abrams is not one of those people she's somebody who's just like exclusively benefited from her closeness to taylor as far as we know right now i'm talking about like fame and popularity but she's like she's like a major pop girly now and that has a lot to do with her proximity to taylor taylor
57:51Claudia Oshry:like collaborating with her yeah but like i think sabrina would have taken off whether she
57:57Jackie Oshry:opened for the heiress tour or not like her time was coming she was having this moment on tiktok and it was really helpful that she opened for the heiress tour and like obviously being near taylor is like great but i'm telling you she was taking off no matter what like gracie abrams was not because gracie abrams margaret was talking about gracie abrams for like a couple of years she like couldn't get arrested musically and successfully. And it wasn't until like she was, you know, orbiting Taylor that she started being considered by people like myself, you know? Interesting. So sometimes it's going to happen no matter how close you are to Taylor Swift.
58:26Jackie Oshry:I think there's no greater example of that than Haim. Than Haim. I mean, like talk about people who have no success. Sorry. They have that one song. It's so good. The Wire. The Wire. And they have a song with Taylor. And as Taylor Swift's biggest fan, I couldn't even sing it for you. It's seriously a skip. So I just want to say, like, being in Taylor's circle isn't like an auto. No, no, no.
58:53Claudia Oshry:You've got to have the stuff. I'll take some of that. That's a pretty lip color. Thank you. It's Westman Atelier. Oh, okay, Westman. Yes, Atelier. Yeah, that's right. Haute couture. By Westman. I prefer Eastman. I prefer West Wilson. I prefer Madame Marable Garrett Graham Garrett Graham Karen Reed
59:16Jackie Oshry:So all that to say
59:17Claudia Oshry:I actually don't think that this is about Gracie I think it actually says a lot about us That we think it's about Taylor We're doubting I don't know Don't you feel like the little people are going to start to like No actually Revolt Yeah I just feel like I don't I feel like No no not Maybe not Sometimes you can feel Circumstances like shifting like we were talking about that with Alex Cooper like it felt like the landscape was turning it might not be a successful uprising no I'm telling you I don't think there's even
59:44Jackie Oshry:an uprising being had like the villagers are not even thinking about leaving their houses I don't think so I don't think there was ever a time to strike it ain't now no no no not with like the wedding and everything yeah um yeah and clearly she has a lot of a thousand people
1:00:03Claudia Oshry:on her side that she invited to her wedding that attended. Correct.
1:00:07Jackie Oshry:Well, that's our show. Hope you enjoyed every minute of it. It really was. It was just good. How could you not enjoy?
1:00:16Claudia Oshry:I hope that you enjoyed too. I didn't think about it, but yeah, I guess.

1:00:27Claudia Oshry:A rose? Why rose? It just came to me. It just came. Not something symbolic of the episode. Oh, okay. What did we talk about? Weddings. We talked a lot about weddings. Maybe like the bride emoji.
1:00:37Jackie Oshry:If you made it to the end of the episode, like drop a bride emoji in our Instagram comment section of the episode announcement.
1:00:43Claudia Oshry:That was a fun game.
1:00:44Jackie Oshry:Yeah, that was. We used to do it every day. We used to do a lot of things. We used to generate engagement.
1:00:48Claudia Oshry:We used to sing the final story.
