Welcome back to the Chost And happy Tuesday That feels like a Monday Cause like I'm back in my studio For the first time Landed Hopped up the plane At LAX Literally Every time I leave your house And again No slight against you Like I'm so happy to be home I feel disgusting I wish I never left Like it's monsooning in New York My flight was four hours Oh you wish you never left me Yeah like this sucks dude This blows Even though I hate podcasting With you in person Like the remaining episodes Are gonna be so much better This week because we're apart and that's why I had to leave.
0:32No, I agree. We have gotten into such a good group with remote podcasting and I realize like what it is. When we're together, like we're having so much fun. We don't want to stop and work. However, when we're apart, it's like, I would never be like, hey, let's do it a little late today. Like I respect your schedule and you respect mine. Like I know you made a lot happen to get there. Like we are too scared of each other. We're so lazy together. We're so lazy together because we just want to like be together. But when we're apart, we're like too scared of the other to just like say screw the schedule.
1:01No, and the schedule is what keeps us alive. Like, but when I'm at your house or you're here, it's just like whatever. Like I hate podcasting with you in person. So as much as I hated flying home and like leaving my family and like waking up without the boys in my bed, like it was horrible. It is the right thing to do so we can churn out premium episodes, four more episodes until the end of Toast season one. I forget, six? Seven? I feel like at the beginning of the year we thought it was seven and it was actually six. because remember we celebrated six years of toast. Hold on. Our episode called Season of the Six.
1:31Let me just look in the podcast app and tell you what year that was. No, in the podcast app, they'll just tell you what season you're on. Oh, that too. Okay, that would have been much smarter, but now I'm too far deep. We are. Season of the Six was 2023. This is season seven, and next season will be season eight. Wow. Oh, do you know that on Apple Podcasts, like when you go to the page of a podcast that you're looking at, they give you different details, and it says the hosts and guests and people's face comes up it says our show is hosted by claudia ashley and jackie ashley and our recurring guest is goldie hahn so that just has to do with like the things that we talk about their ai isn't that smart and they just think oh we talked about goldie hahn maybe she was on the show it gets a little confusing but like i'm not mad about it yeah goldie hahn was on the show should should we what if we just reached out to goldie made it true made it true made honest men out of Apple.
2:23So yes I'm sad that you are gone but we have so much goodness this week that we really can't be mad and I also agree it does feel like a Monday so we've kind of hacked this week into feeling like a short week by having a crazy schedule. We also definitely have a Nalafi today a nice long one for you because we've got really good stories we've got to catch up with each other we also have dear toasters oh my god I was cackling the dear toasters today are like actually really crazy and one of them we are responsible for like the girl being in the pickle that she's in oy oy and now when you say dear toasters are really crazy like they've been really crazy and I'm actually scared I'm scared of what is coming our way okay tell me if you agree with this because maybe it's just like me thinking everything is about us because like it is do you feel like everyone's talking about dear toasters yeah dear toasters is having a moment okay love that maybe do you think it has anything to do with the shift from Wednesday to Tuesday perhaps it also has to do with the time of year like just familial ties things are happening i feel like this is the time of year where people either get engaged or break up around the holidays because they don't want to bring you home to their families like it's just it's a wild time of year it's ripe for dear toaster submissions is what you're saying yes yeah that's exactly what i'm saying and then tomorrow we're going to do real housewives of beverly hills recap friday it'll be our last episode regular episode of the year so we'll both watch oh no never mind just ignore me yeah just say something because I like wasn't speaking English great great yeah Real Housewives of Beverly Hills very excited I may recap Southern Charm on Friday because that's on Thursdays there you go Pargy there you go Pargy Pargy oh Pargy what was the Pargy song we were singing last week and I'll never stop singing my Par nope that sounded good too that was good too that was like pretty much it you were just off key it goes like this no actually i don't know i'll never stop singing my party song no definitely not i know that's not right but like i like it too they heard of it all night long something like that yeah i really the more we do our show and you know our business evolves like the more all signs are pointing to an album like for so many reasons one like people do comedy albums also like for the children like people love singing these songs you can listen in the car with your kids like I want this album I know it really wouldn't yield anything in terms of like revenue or but like it would literally do nothing for us other than like joy yeah bring joy I agree I was gonna say I didn't know where you were going with that sentence but the more we do this show and the more our business evolves it's very clear like we need to put out a children's entertainment album like seriously this would need to be for the kids like and I'll never stop singing that Parchi song is obviously the intro we obviously need um to finally finish our Selena Gomez song I'm like being alone too much to dance with your heart no but like do to do to Theodora like this is so fun for the children it's fun for the whole family because you can be listening to like music in the car with your kids and you're being swirly and I I really do believe we get asked all the time like what would you guys be doing if you weren't doing this for a living and we always give like blanket answers like social media but I really believe like I would be climbing the corporate ladder of children's entertainment and I would be like a pivotal either talent wise or an executive you know I actually think like as a duo we would be unstoppable because of course like coaching on my dream no no no you would be the talent I'm not I want to be behind the scenes like I want to be my manager I know I want to be like focusing on the educational and enrichment piece and it's like you go off and provide the entertainment value but like I I want it because my dream was always not always but like I do think something I'd be really good at is like being a substitute teacher I don't want to do it all the time but like once in a while I'm coming in to teach these kids so I feel like I could teach them like through you through music and I'd want to be on like the content development team but no I should not be singing no you need to be working with like the researchers and the scientists like how that Imogen Heap song is like especially song it's like especially engineered to titillate and stimulate and soothe babies something about the different they did a lot of research like you would be ahead of the R &D team who then sends the files to me and me and my team implement that into the music yeah I'd want to work for you I guess oh I'm so down what do you think I'd be like as a boss so scary a thousand percent so so scary yeah although I I'm also your younger sister so like I'd be limited in how like you know bossy I can be but don't you think you'd be like taking out years old gripes like you could finally tell your big sis what to do.
6:57That's actually a really good point. I'm glad you brought that up. I don't really have gripes with you. You don't have years old gripes? About like being named weenie of the week every week with Margo. I took my power back by making weenie of the week. I monetized it. Like seriously, gripe vanished. I don't have, I have gripes like with, you know, other people. Like seriously, like you, it's funny. Like I seriously forget nothing. But in the family, like I don't really have like childhood trauma, gripes, things like that. That you're like holding on to and like taking out on us when we least expect it.
7:26Let me think. Let me think. Because actually, if there was a sister that I would like take out on, it would be you. We were like the least close growing up. Right. And I think like I thought you were mean, like for sure. Like you didn't get me and I didn't get you. It's true. That's what's always so crazy. We actually just did an interview recently. Yeah, we do interviews. Yeah, we talk about ourselves. And we actually gave this juicy little anecdote that didn't make it into the end. But I actually thought that was like one of the more interesting things that we said, which is that growing up, we've always been close to sisters.
7:54There's six years between Olivia and Margo and there's four of us. So like that's a lot of girls close in age. We have everything in common. And we were all very close. However, if we had to say who was the least close, it was Claudia and I. Because we did split off into two groups of two at certain times. More often than not naturally, it was Olivia and Jackie and then Margo and I. Oldest and the youngest. The oldest and the youngest. But then Olivia and I really started to get really close. We had a lot of similar interests. I would say like the family dynamic shifted when we started watching Law & Order SVU.
8:21And then like me and Olivia were a unit. and then you and Margo were a unit too. Yeah, and you guys really like the food network. We did. And you and I, so the different ways we could have split up, we were never together. It was either me or Olivia. We never split up in our own way, like until now. Right. And so the fact that we ended up working so closely together is actually kind of odd. But back to the childhood gripe, like we were all really close growing up. But yeah, I guess you and I were the least close. So if there was anyone I would have a gripe with, it's you. And I can tell you I don't.
8:52Great. I don't have one because that was kind of the thing like you didn't even literally talk to me like enough to have a gripe do you know what I mean like seven seasons later the gripe has been it's good to know that we don't have a gripe we are washing our hands of this gripe no we're all good over here no no that's really funny that's really funny I guess like growing up something that frustrated me was like I could never when Olivia and I like started to make like friends that would like drive us places and stuff like even when we were driving with like our counselor our friends who drove like I was never allowed to sit shotgun like she always was sitting shotgun because she's older and that's just how it like goes in the family actually this book we read for redhead shred sisters like the younger sister it's all about her gripes with her older sister and like she never got to sit in the front seat and like yeah that's facts that is annoying like to never get it right now people give me the front seat one it's like nobody wants it anymore like sitting in the back it's like rolling kids yeah but because of my nausea I have been promoted to the front seat yeah yeah yeah that's so you have been promoted margo i guess i wonder if she did she talk on the redheads at her middle seat trauma because like when we would get in a car it was always the same you know layout mom in the front live in the front us three in the back but who wants the middle the youngest sister gets the middle it's the worst seat you don't have armrests everybody's like kicking you there's nowhere to put your legs and that was margo's designated spot for life what does she feel about that did she discuss that on the redheads does she have middle seat trauma gripes no she didn't mention it and now with captain seats like where does the youngest child go back back what's preferred middle seat or back back I think back back you get a whole row she would have loved that thousand percent if only we had a three row vehicle at the time oh sister tings oh sister tings we have a lot to discuss today there are stories there's deer toasters so I'm ready to dive in unless there's anything we haven't covered that you would like to discuss?

Today's episode is also brought to you by Haya Health, the children's vitamin that's taking the world by storm, especially in my niece's world. Like, her life has not been the same. So typical children's vitamins, the ones that we used to take growing up, they're really like candy in disguise.
13:02They're filled with two teaspoons of sugar, really unhealthy chemicals. other gummy junk that kids who are growing up really should not eat. And that's why Haya was created. It's a pediatrician-approved, super-powered, chewable vitamin. While most children's vitamins are filled with 5 grams of sugar and can contribute to a variety of health issues, Haya has zero sugar, zero gummy junk, but it tastes great, and it's perfect for picky eaters. And what it's doing is filling the most common gaps in modern children's diets to provide the full-body nourishment that your kids need with a yummy taste that they love.
13:28It's formulated with the help of nutritional experts, and it's supercharged with 15 essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin D, B12, C, zinc, folate, and so many others. It's non-GMO. They have, like, little stickers that you can put on it. It's, like, a fun activity, and it's getting the kid excited about health and wellness, which is good because sometimes, like, getting your kid to take medicine can be a contact sport.

You know, the number one ticketing app. Everybody loves it. They're always giving us new reasons to buy our tickets at Game Time. And now here's another one. Game Time has a new feature. It's called Game Time Picks. And it makes getting tickets for your favorite live events even easier. So Game Time Picks filters out the fluff to show you only incredible deals on great seats so you don't have to waste time searching through thousands of tickets.
14:58So this new GameTime Picks thing is basically curation, and it makes it easier to save more on sports, concerts, comedy, theater, whatever type of event you're going to. GameTime's a great app to have downloaded on your phone, and if you find yourself feeling spontaneous and there's a fabulous thing going on in your town, GameTime will just get you access to the best seats. I really like it because of their all-in pricing. I think that buying tickets these days has really turned into such a scam that you buy a ticket, by the time you get to the checkout page, the price has almost doubled because of all the hidden fees.
15:26Well, they allow you to toggle the all-in pricing feature on GameTime, and the price you see is the price you pay, and it's just so much better, like no surprises at the end. Also, they're giving you seat views of what seats you're buying. You're going to get a panoramic view from your seat in the app before you buy. They offer the lowest price guarantee, or they will credit you 110 % of the difference. Take the guesswork out of buying tickets with GameTime. Download the GameTime app, create an account, and use code TOAST for$20 off your first purchase. Terms apply. Again, create an account and redeem code TOAST for$20 off.
15:54Download Game Time today. Thank you, Turd Time. What can I say? It's very musical theater of me. I feel like that's like the transition from one scene to another. Then it's nighttime. Yeah, I prefer hoo-oh-oh-oh-oh as a transition. Oh, I like that too. I prefer hoo-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh. Not my best, but you know what I was going for. well speaking of wicked our first story golden globe nominations golden globe nominations are out and actually is it a story that jay-z was like out and about last night no okay like because it's just a premiere for yeah i just want to talk about it briefly after remind me because i had a thought okay you could talk about it now okay so jay-z like classic us forced his family to go out last night you know they were fighting in the car being like beyonce's like seriously you and your stained reputation now i have to be seen with you tina was there too um but they were showing up for blue for blue for blue of course i'm just could the timing have been worse because i don't think at this point like i think beyonce has more like clout in the relationship where it's like if she doesn't want to go to something she's not doing him this favor she's not going to do it well he shouldn't have went he yeah but don't you think that's like a sign of an admission i know but this is blue ivy's big night and we're talking about jay-z like he should not have went and it wouldn't have been a big deal if they had tina beyonce like three generations of women beautiful like he's a business and non-problematic queen on a business trip yeah like i i get what they're doing he's like he's maintaining his innocence i have nothing to hide so yeah we're going to move south and you're gonna like it but i was really shook to see him and then seriously three seconds later on the red carpet crystal kong minkoff and her family because it's her husband's directorial movie right because he did lion king he is actually such a big deal they didn't even play that up that much like she could have been way more annoying he is such a big deal rob with the lion king and obviously mufasa's like a spin-off of it so i was shocked to see and they brought their kids and they did like a cute little she's she actually had cloud she didn't use it right she could have done better but i thought it was interesting to see um but i was shocked jackie guess did you see what um blue ivy was wearing first of all she looked gorgeous yes how old do you think blue ivy is i feel like we know like that she's probably 16 15 she's 12 okay I don't know where I was it said like Blue Ivy comma 12 I was like excuse me wow I thought she was 17 like I was shocked just fun fact very exciting for Blue and Mufasa so it's the origin story of Mufasa which like should be a good movie because I loved what they did with the Lion King live action like seriously pargy perfection pargy perfection whoever did that like you have created You know who did it.
18:41Yeah, Liotta. Jon Favreau. Oh, was it not Crystal's husband? No, like Jon Favreau directed that movie, which is the weirdest fact. Okay, we need to talk about Jon Favreau. Like, I know we have a lot to do today, but just really quickly. The thing is, back in 2020, like, we had an episode titled, like, Jon Favreau, where we did talk about him. Because Jon Favreau is, like, the biggest director of all time. Every time I'm even watching, like, an old movie, it'll say to be directed by Jon Favreau. but are you also telling me that that's Jon Favreau the actor who we know from like stuff I believe so like I think that we did this so yes it's the same producer yeah he's a producer on all these things like Mandalorian he's in Iron Man I think Young Sheldon yes oh my god yes yes yes yeah and I believe the Lion King yeah here it is he's a producer on the Lion King the live action one but he's also an actor now i think his acting days are a little bit behind him i think he's been eclipsed by himself but like i know his face and how many directors faces do i know i know him because he's an actor he's in that movie couples retreat where they all are like you know the last leg of their relationship so they go on vacation okay that's a good movie it is that's just like a thing in holly like that's just like a cultural blind spot for me how Jon Favreau like the actor who's like that funny big guy is also like one of the most critically acclaimed he's literally like a he's like Reese Witherspoon James Cameron like he does everything okay I'm just I was confused about that like thank you I need to clear that up anyways now back to our first story if we may Golden Globe nominations are here and really awkwardly Amelia Perez is dominating with 10 nominations and like I'm glad to know what we found out yesterday otherwise I'd be like oh this is probably like amazing and Selena deserves the the globe um here are the nominees it's so crazy um I know I just want to say I I read a lot of our comments yesterday the Latina community like they did not stand for this like they're not standing with Selena like they actually found a downright offensive and I stand with my tostatic community so I stand by what I said even though the selenators were coming at me like I actually don't care the selenators are always coming at you like so true three things you can be certain of death taxes and the selenators coming for you coming at someone coming for anyone yeah selena also like finds herself in a lot of peculiar situations so i feel like being a fan of hers is actually a full-time job like defensively do you know what i mean like you're always defending her acting and i actually somebody commented was like what is up with like the selenators like they're always having to defend selena's like inability to do her job like whenever remember when she last performed at that award show amas and like she actually couldn't sing dance or even walk and everybody's like you try performing in front of thousands it's not my job like and so i thought that was actually really an astute observation like being a salinator is a full-time 360 degree operation best motion picture drama the brutalist a complete unknown oh i've heard of that because that's bob marley timothy oh timothy conclave dune part two that's also timothy right yeah nickel boys less than nickelback i prefer and september 5 so i haven't heard of any of these movies as the years go on like usually there was two and then there's one that i've even heard of i haven't even heard of any of these i'm not a movie buff give it all to wicked it's the only movie anybody cared about this year like seriously how is it even not in nominated so so the golden glow splits up best picture for drama and then musical or comedy whereas the oscars it's all one category so here are the movies that you've heard of for best motion picture musical or comedy okay thank you anora no challengers amelia perez a real pain the substance wicked okay so here's the one you heard of so here's what i all i needed to know well of course give it to wicked but i saw challengers um me and ben like watched it we enjoyed it i mean we watched the whole thing i didn't like think it was amazing i got through it the fact that that's what's considered like that's the bar I feel like when I was younger like the bar for movies that were nominated for Oscars and Golden Globes was so much higher like this movie about like nothing that doesn't even have an ending that's made the list oh like the bar has been lowered in my time yes but also it's two categories so that's like 10 movies and I wonder if it were one maybe it's less right I'm not even gonna tell like my opinion here is like so irrelevant it's Wicked I saw Wicked but I guess like what also like looked good enough to see because I saw wicked for a reason because it looked marketed it was marketed well yeah and it's it's a great story like nothing else where I'm like oh I have to go and see that well I saw challengers not because even like even Barbie I didn't see in theaters I didn't even see challengers because it looked so compelling there was a lot of discourse about it online because there's like this one almost threesome scene and I was like I gotta see what everyone's talking about so I don't even feel like the movie was adequately marketed towards me i watched it because i'm like a loser who doesn't want to be left out understood and that's my truth so now you're in how does it feel i'll never get those two hours back and like the movie did not have an ending i can't stress that enough interesting next is best motion picture animated flow inside out too as i get older like this becomes my dominant category because this is what I've watched but I've not seen Jackie it's the circle the circle of life no I haven't seen any of these though but I've heard of two of them Flo Inside Out 2 Memoir of a Snail gotta see that Memoirs of a Gay Shaw Memoirs of a Snail Shaw okay Moana 2 Wallace and Gromit Vengeance Most Foul and The Wild Robot can't believe I missed that one I actually feel like there wasn't an animated film this year that like took the kids community by storm and adults.
24:31Like like it wasn't like like a frozen where it's like, wow, this is a cultural shift for the like every the kids were obsessed. But then like seriously, even the pair in Kanto, like Coco, like there are ones every year that like really transcend age. And I actually don't feel like any of these maybe Inside Out 2, but I didn't even hear it was that good. Yeah. And it's a sequel. Like it had the established audience. They didn't do much. Yeah. So I'm not sure. now this next category is like the swirly one cinematic and box office achievement so like popular movies that performed well first alien romulus no second beetlejuice beetlejuice third deadpool and wolverine four gladiator two five inside out six twisters seven wicked eight the wild robot i feel like i was just thinking of something that should have been here that's surprising that's not here well wicked's gonna win you think so is that the biggest movie of the year well because this category is like for lowbrow movies that had big budgets that weren't like artsy enough for the main category but wicked is in the main category too so it has to win by the way here's a crazy suggestion for what should have been nominated it ends with us one thousand percent thank you thank you very much oh you just know justin baldoni is vomiting he didn't get nominated for director and neither did John Chu I know people are mad about that and they're right for that 1000 % maybe now like I feel like they didn't expect Wicked to have the effect that it did and he'll definitely get nominated next year like with the sequel but it's too little too late just like they didn't nominate Ari for the Oscars like don't sleep on Wicked it's wrong don't bet against Wicked uh what was the uh I actually didn't see the nominees for the original song did Luke Holmes get a nominee nomination because seriously Oklahoma from Twisters is not only an amazing song it was immensely popular great question best original song motion picture beautiful that way from the last show girl which actually Miley is on so Miley is nominated for a globe then compress and repress from challengers El Mal Amelia Perez Forbidden Road Better Man and Kiss the Sky the Wild Robot so that's wrong Luke Holmes deserved a nomination for Oklahoma and from the Twister soundtrack and he deserved a win for that 1000 but like a Lisa nomination another song from Amelia Perez was also nominated that's insane that's insane Twister's put out a whole ass album of songs originals sick that's wrong then we have best performance there's so many because it's broken down by musical versus drama there are so many categories but I'm gonna just breeze through them if I may just just the highlights please best performance by a female in a motion picture drama.
27:05Pamela Anderson, The Last Showgirl, Angelina Jolie, Maria, Nicole Kidman, Baby Girl, Tilda Swinton, The Room Next Door, Fernanda Torres, I'm Still Here, Kate Winslet, Lee. Star-studded category, by the way. Yeah, yeah. Next, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a motion picture drama. Adrian Brody, The Brutalist, always a good choice. My friend. Timothy Chalamet, A Complete Unknown, Daniel Craig, Queer, Coleman Domingo, Sing Sing, Ralph, Phineas, Conclave, Sebastian Stan, The Apprentice. don't care best performance by a female actor in a motion picture musical or comedy Amy Adams Night Bitch Cynthia Erivo Wicked Carla Sofia Gascon Amelia Perez Mikey Madison Anora Demi Moore The Substance Zendaya Challengers it's Cynthia's award to lose you think I think that about Ariana too I don't know if both will win like is that crazy i i don't know it depends how much like wicked has endeared the industry you know i just don't know the politics yeah yeah golden globes is so political yeah all these awards are about political and campaigns and i just don't know if they want to give it all to wicked i feel like they don't i feel like they don't either especially because the only thing that discredits wicked is that it's an adaptation.
28:24So it's not like an original script or an original story. It's actually an adaptation of an adaptation. Do you know what I mean? Everything these days is an adaptation. I know, I know. But if you wanted to critique it compared to other films, you could say, well, this is an original story and this is not. Yeah. Then best performance by a male actor in a motion picture, musical, or comedy. Jesse Eisenberg, A Real Pain, Hugh Grant, Heretic, Gabrielle LaBelle, Saturday Night Jesse Plemons, Kinds of Kindness Glenn Powell, Hitman, Sebastian Stan A Different Man I don't know any of these, but give it to Jesse Plemons Nobody works harder Seriously, did you see how fat he got for that Elizabeth Olsen TV show?
29:04Yeah That man is committed, and by the time it was award season He was back to his OG weight Seriously, anyone willing to put their body through that Deserves all the awards Because I wouldn't He's an actor who does it for the art like not for the celebrity. Oh, he loves to fucking act. And he got his start on the greatest show of all time, Friday Night Lights. And he's married to Kirsten Dunn. It's like the facts are so fun about him. Oh, and he's in our favorite episode of Black Mirror. Oh my God, stop. I think about that episode all the time. The one where he's like killing people. And puts them in his video game.
29:38And then like they end up killing him and he like dies like on his video game. Like it was so good. Yeah. Best performance by a female actor in a supporting role in any motion picture. Selena Gomez, Amelia Perez. So this is not looking good today. Ariana Grande, Wicked. Felicity Jones, The Brutalist. Margaret Qualley, The Substance. Isabella Rossellini, Conclave. Zoe Saldana, Amelia Perez. I don't want the Selenators to come for me. This is just like I would say this about anyone. I feel like for her performance to have been so discredited by like the community it was made for and then her to get a Golden Globe nomination the next day actually really discredits the
30:16parginess of a golden globe like it really like it has widely been just she wasn't even speaking the right she wasn't even speaking the language correctly but you think that's the best of the year like yeah I feel like it's actually not a good look for the golden globes no I agree it's not it's not looking well and then best tv series drama the day of the jackal the diplomat mr. and mrs smith on prime video showgun slow horses squid game i just know nobody watched the mr and mrs smith reboot like i saw like one commercial for it they didn't even like market it i can't believe it's been nominated for something that's what i'm saying like really and then best tv series musical or comedy which is like what would be swirly is abbott elementary the bear the gentleman hacks nobody wants this only murders in the building so happy for aaron foster um and Sarah.
31:06Do you know Sarah's worked on the show too? Yes, yes. It's Erin's like baby, but Sarah like was a part of it for sure. But like when you. Like she would be up there on stage accepting the award with her. Which we would love to see. I though know that the bear is going to win and like that just must be annoying for Erin Foster. Because like it's enough already with that show. It's not an honor to be nominated. No, like I when we talk about shows everybody was watching and talking about this year, like it was nobody wants this. Yeah, it's really true. I think it like broke all the streaming records like for Netflix.
31:37Correct. So. I feel like they could win. I feel like they could win. I just feel like these awards, like they don't care about what's popular. And it's so annoying. Things are popular for a reason. No, and they put that one category in for box office achievements so that they don't have to deal with popularity in other categories. There also was a category for concert films. Am I correct? Like concert DVDs. And Taylor Swift was not nominated, which is shocking. That is shocking. Yeah, I guess it came out. Did it come out? It came out two years ago. No, one. last October last so would it be I think it would I think it was included like in this I'm not sure actually don't quote me on this I just went on social media the other notable nomination is best performance last year sorry sorry best performance in stand-up comedy on TV Jamie Foxx which uh is called what had happened was and we're actually talking about that later Nikki Glaser Seth Meyers Adam Sandler Ali Wong and Rami Youssef but Nikki Glaser is the host hosting of the award show and she could also be a winner that would be cool that would be cool and when you talk about like who made waves in comedy this year like it was nikki glazer it was nikki glazer although again shane gillis like being snubbed is like they just don't like him like he's not industry approved because that really was the comedy event of the year like everybody was talking about it right so i will watch the golden globes in the beginning in earnest see how see how it's going but i don't have a big stake in who's gonna win no me neither but i'm gonna tune in because i want to see nikki glazer and i want to see uh wicked yeah and is there a performance i feel like they're only gonna perform at the oscars yes and they're not nominated for a song though are there performances at the golden globes i don't think so i don't think so but also it's only the songs that are nominated that perform so oh right and also their songs are an original oh my god so they might not even perform yeah they'll have to find a way around that they'll figure it out they will anyways it's really like this time of year um which this like we always do nominations but our next story is a big list news okay because the short list for times person of the year has been announced yep i always forget that they tell you like the 10 people that they're choosing from oh oh i didn't know that it was like an official list from time I thought it was like everybody guessing.
33:54No, it's at time.com. They reveal their 10 candidates on the Today Show. Do people vote or it's already done? It's already, like they vote, but they're letting you know who was in consideration. So it's just like a great way to see the year at a glance, I would say. And I feel like this year, not only because it was an election year, but like just because of everything going on in the world, like was so political. Like I don't think they could or should give it to like a Taylor Swift this year. Whereas in years past, like it was so her year. I think giving it to someone who's not like a world leader or a politician would be wrong like between like Israel, Ukraine, like there was the election.
34:26There was a lot politically going on in the world this year. Yeah. And that was the big theme of the year. We were even talking about on our Patreon episode when we tried to do like Thanksgiving table topics. Trying not to talk about like politics or the election is literally impossible this year. Unless you want to talk about the listeria outbreak. Which by the way, I don't know if you want to talk about whilst you're eating turkey, but it is a big deal that listeria outbreak. and we let Boar's Head get away with far too much. Yes, but your turkey at Thanksgiving like was hopefully cooked through and it's a deli-y thing.
34:57Of course, I'm just saying as a society, we moved on from that listeria outbreak far too fast. And it went on way too long and now like with the E. coli and the carrots, what's going on? It's like, if everybody could just wash their hands, like that would be great. Especially those who work near food. That's being mass produced. So here are the contenders for Time's Person of the Year. One, Kamala Harris. Two, Kate Middleton. It was a big year for Kate Middleton. That was Q1, but still. Yeah, but compared to the other people on the list, like seriously. I don't think she's going to get it, but it was actually crazy.
35:32She was a big part of the year. Everyone was talking about her. The conspiracies. Yeah, no, everyone was talking about her, but actually overall. No, she was. No, she was till Easter. She was MIA for most of the year. Like, that's what the story was about. So how can you be time persons of the year if you don't leave your house? Okay, so she wouldn't win for you. No, who was the first one? Kamala. okay like that that would make sense three elon also would make sense i wonder has he ever won i'll go back and look at past but i think i'll look it up i think that at some point in his life he should be person of the year and maybe this year was a big elon year the cyber truck the robot kim's boyfriend uh-huh okay previous time people of the year let me know when you're ready i'm ready like in the last 10 years you know okay because they have me starting from 1927 also interesting oh we don't have all the time in the world on the car for some reason this list is only starting me at 19 i mean at 2019 and it was gratitude oh wait but oh yikes um in 2023 it was taylor swift and then that felt right the year before was the ukrainian president selensky and the spirit of ukraine together oh not the spirit spirit and the president Elon was 2021 And then Joe and Kamala 2020 And what was Greta Toon Joe and Kamala were 2020 The Guardians aren't those the COVID nurses No that's what I thought but this person is What year Oh All our Journalists who were violently attacked or slapped with criminal charges In an empowering effort to silence the free press Worldwide I must have missed that one oh taylor swift is also a person me too me too or like a couple of people because 2017 was the silence breakers a couple of journalists or a couple of silence breakers the voices that launched the me too movement so like taylor swift and other notable swirlies 2016 was trump 2015 merkel what is she the prime minister merkel not markle merkel i said i know but it sounded like Markle and I was like oh honestly she could have too she should have been I mean 2020 was such a busy year and who knew at the outset when they megsited that they'd be totally eclipsed by a virus but like 2020 was their year but this is 2015 Angela Merkel's Angela Merkel 2014 the Ebola fighters that was like such a throwback Ebola yeah 2013 Pope Francis 2012 Obama so it seems like in most election years it's the winner give it to the person who won so 2012 Obama 2016 16, Trump.
38:0920, Joe and Kamala. Oh, not Joe getting like half. A piece for Joe Biden. By logic, and I know he's on the list, 2024 would be Trump. Right. But this also just was like such a busy year. Yes. So let's continue through the list. Another nominee, Yulia Navalnaya. She is the wife of Alexei who died in February. He's like a Russian political oppositionist. Also nominated, Benjamin Netanyahu. Prime Minister of Israel. next Jerome Powell the chairman of the federal reserve I didn't really feel like it was Jerome's year and I actually have some questions for Jerome I just paid my taxes and like I would love to see like an itemized list of what what it's going to I don't know if that's the reserves department or the IRS I just feel like they're all working together to hurt me yeah but also I don't want it to go to Jerome Jerome's like big thing is like the interest rates which have been like so high it's kind of been a part of the year for interest yeah and for interest but not the interest rate payers no no for but everyone's talking the name on everybody's list is interest oh and inflation yeah yeah yeah also nominated big for podcasting joe rogan oh you know what i actually feel like if there was a year for joe rogan to win it wouldn't have been this i understand he actually had a huge impact on the election but i feel like he made way more ways with his vaccine drama yeah um so i don't think it's his time who won in 21 we just went over this elon oh okay elon what was elon doing in 21 i think that was the year he like recycled a rocket ship which was like his biggest feat to date like you're not spending 10 billion dollars to build a rocket ship that only goes up once that was his documentary on netflix yeah yeah yeah and his idea that he stole from sheldon yes exactly the rocket in the water exactly yeah that was big and then also he had a big um year of rockets this year so it actually could be him because of what he did with that tower catching the rocket and its claws perhaps then claudia scheinbaum not to be mistaken with claudia ashray but she is actually mexico's first ever female president oh she's jewish yeah well obviously scheinbaum um yeah i feel like i heard about her when she was um one because everyone is like her name is claudia and she's jewish and then i never heard about and i never heard like about her like making strides and that's not to say she's not like a successful president i'm just saying as somebody who lives a little bit north of mexico like i don't hear about her work a lot like i hear about you know macron like i hear about what trudeau's up to i actually feel like it's not her year shinebaum sorry no it wasn't her year then trump for winning the election but also the assassination attempts like i really don't see how it's not him well also it's kind of like their thing that they do like the person who wins for the last x amount of years i bet obama won in 2008 for sure yeah oh for sure because it was the first win right 2008 2012 16 i don't know but it just it was a competitive year the short list is kind of like who was would be your number two thought for it who's the his biggest competition also let me just also say the final nominee is mark zuckerberg like no thanks oh no i actually feel like he had quite a loser a year like thanks but no thanks there have been previous years where he was like we were always watching those senate hearings right like and then he had the viral surfboard moment i feel like he was like kind of low-key this year like getting a tan and and a stylist like i feel like it's on his ear yeah so who do you think it would be the list top to bottom one more time okay okay so we have kamala kate middleton elon i just want to say it can't be kamala she didn't win like she was literally the not person yeah i i and it can't be kate middle team either she was not visible so xx elon it could be yulia naval naya i don't know i i know like the work of her husband and the bravery i don't know enough so i'll leave her i'm not gonna x her but i'm not sure not to yahoo they're not gonna give it to him and also it would have been last year yeah yeah actually it would have although like this year was like big for him with and also the war started in q4 of last year by the way i could definitely see i would say the biggest story of the year is the war in gaza in addition to the election and it was such a big part of the election and i think why people voted the way that they did so i i actually think netanyahu is a formidable formidable opponent you think he's number two to trump yeah or elon but yeah no i would say second to trump jerome powell joe rogan no no claudia shinebound trump no no No.
42:45Okay, yeah. It's going to be, in my opinion, Trump or Biebsters. Or Elon. Or Elon, yeah. I think it will be Trump or Elon, I guess, or not. I just don't see it going. I also, I don't see them breaking their streak. Like, this is clearly what they do, time, strategically for the last decade or two. So we'll be sat until they announce. When did they say they're announcing? It's crazy that, like, there's really no celebrities. Oh, I love a little short. This is a good. I like how they did this. it's interesting that there's no celebrities on this list with the exception of Kate Middleton but she is like a dignitary yeah I think it wasn't a good year for celebrities I think so too because if if we're talking about the biggest year of celebrities like it was Taylor Swift but compared to last year it's sort of leveled out we're all just like used to it now you know so last year really was her year yeah and this year she just like worked a lot yeah hustle you know what's moving in silence my talks wealth whispers i never can remember i remember i saw it in a commercial with like michael phelps where it's like what you do in the dark will show in the light yeah i like that he's like doing his workouts at dawn and like it's literally dark out no one can see but then like game time it's bright all that work shows through no people who constantly talk about how hard they work like you're not you're not working hard at all yeah because if you have so much time to chat about it like you could be working yeah like the work is what happens with like nobody sees the work you just see the result correct are you ready for our third story am i no i feel like no yeah no is it our third story that's brought to you by ag1 yes it is staying motivated and eating healthy during the holidays can be a challenge and there are tons of different ways to approach it and i think a great way to approach it is getting to a really good routine especially in the morning and ag1 is the perfect thing to add to your morning routine if you're looking for tons of different benefits when it comes to how you feel your digestion and there's no better spokesperson for AG1, like I'm literally a mouthpiece for my husband.

I also just want to say I think someone who was snubbed for being on this short list, even though she probably wouldn't have won, but like was a person of the year, was Simone Biles. Oh my God, I forgot that the Olympics also happened this year. That's a great call. There are no athletes on that list either. Yeah, I feel like she was just a real symbol of strength and perseverance. And like she made us so proud as Americans. She acted so like she held her head. she acted with such grace and like even she never really told us until now what happened in 2020 she let everybody say all this shit about her she really acted like such queen and then she also in her personal life you're so right that's a great call i think it was like really a big year for her and not that she should be the person of the year but like definitely had a real big impact on the world she should be on the list she should be on the list as should molly may for everything a thousand percent okay our next story i actually meant to choose yesterday and i forgot and then we need to talk about it because we need to like you know bring the story full circle which is that Ariana Grande has reacted to the viral holding space Wicked interview and explaining like her POV which really just like adds new color to the whole conversation and and buttons it up nicely yeah I mean I think Ariana's POV and then we had heard from the journalist now we've heard from Ari I feel like and Cynthia also but like yeah but I feel like Ari's POV really explains like the entire miscommunication is Cynthia's fault yeah and Cynthia's like taking that on and they are also laughing with this so yes she's being cool about it because like I think if she had taken herself so seriously again like with her AI generated she would have gotten clowned on so she actually is rolling with it because the okay just explain so Ari admitted in a new interview that she didn't know the meaning behind the holding space comment made in the now viral interview she took part in with Cynthia during their wicked press tour so she said quote so I had no idea what any part of it meant.
50:50She said when they sat down for the chat, she said, I didn't understand the first sentence. And then I definitely, definitely didn't understand what was happening and how you responded. She said to Cynthia, I was like, Oh, what did she just say? What did you hear? And I just wanted to be there because I knew something big was happening and I didn't know how to be there. Um, so that's when also she like took her by the finger to like be there for her. Um, but also in a tentative way, which explains why it's like just a finger and not a hand. and this sort of like really provides context to the whole exchange that like Ari didn't know what was happening was just like maybe thought she missed something and it's just sort of like when the teacher calls on you and and you don't know you weren't paying attention and then the interviewer like knew she hadn't said anything yet but the interviewer said that like this was not her question it was a lead up just to like ask whatever question was coming up but she never even got to the question because Cynthia ran with this holding couple of words and so Ari and the interviewer both didn't know what was going on and Cynthia's just like being you know sweet having this emotional moment I need to hear from Cynthia now like what did you think you were being asked or what what compliment did you think you were being paid you know that they're holding space for the lyrics of Divine Gravity in the in the interview we're referring to with Ariana Cynthia sitting right next to her I wish Cynthia had said by the way so everyone was confused about you know why I had this moment here's what I thought I was being asked because the interviewer what that wasn't her question right it was a it was a precursor to the question a lead up Ari had no fucking idea what was going on so why did she how why was she so breathless right well I just I have a couple of thoughts one like I'm glad that we're all on the same page about this that it was like an overblown moment and they can laugh about it I actually think agreed I think the AI moment actually needed to happen otherwise maybe Cynthia would have had like a different a different reaction and like and i'm taking it more seriously where it's like she learned like not everything on the internet is so serious right however this only went viral because like one person tweeted like the clip and said like i have no idea what just happened here and then everybody like felt the same way and i but i also feel like these things happen all the time like so the fact that even ari like knew what moment like remembered the moment well that's what's so interesting about the internet is that like this particular interview wasn't streamed anywhere like it was just one tweet that set off it was such an organic viral moment because people try to go viral all the time like yeah it might get like millions of views but it doesn't capture the culture yeah and so what's so funny about this is that it was seriously it was weeks later that this person on twitter discovered the clip right it never went anywhere just you have to think of how many moments like this go undiscovered and how many people just go through conversations like not knowing what the other person said and just being like yeah wow that's really powerful i mean think about personally how many times in your everyday life like seriously are you talking to somebody you've you kind of missed the initial question or the mission and you just nod yeah yeah it's it's very funny but i feel like very glad that they have now talked about it john chu is there they're all laughing about it it's all funny it's all funny haha and i do feel ready to move on me too me too because we have we're getting dangerously close to ruining this it's still funny but we're it's getting a little less funny and I could taste like the ruining yeah so I'm ready so let's just end it here to move forward me too into our next story which is Jamie Fox tearfully describing exactly what led to his mystery hospitalization in the new Netflix special oh yeah yeah so um Jamie Foxx on Tuesday today his Netflix special just dropped it's called Jamie Fox what had happened was and he is talking about um the time but how was he nominated for a golden globe when it came out today well that's just industry things now that's weird no do you not agree no I do agree yeah okay um because I was thinking when you said it I'm like wow I literally missed a whole like I didn't even hear about it like no today's the day uh he's like wow I've really had my head buried in the sand this year he has previously only attributed his health scare to a bad headache um but during that time the oscar winner was taken to a doctor in georgia who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him on his way he said what the fuck is that i don't know if you can do yelps for doctors but that has half a star he said his sister dear deidra subsequently took him to the hospital where he said the angel staff saved his life and put him back together he explained that a doctor told his sibling horrible news about his condition at the time revealing quote he's having a brain bleed that has led to a stroke if i don't go to his head right now we're going to lose him is it from the cortisone shot or like no no that was ailing he was having a headache the doctor gave him a cortisone shot said you're good to go that's a crazy um like thing to give right and so hollywood the headache was coming from a brain brain bleed that led to a stroke um the sister was told that what we didn't find where it was coming from but he's having a stroke he may be able to make a full recovery but it's going to be the worst year of his life he talks about like being in surgery how he didn't see the light during his procedure but he remembered feeling oddly peaceful in a tunnel however he joked it was hot in that tunnel shit am I going to the wrong place in this motherfucker because I looked at the end of the tunnel and I thought I saw the devil like come on that's so funny by the way because this is also a comedy special right no and everybody like who does comedy like talks about the same couple of things but very few people have actually experienced like a near death and this is a good fodder am i the only one who didn't know jamie fox did stand-up like i knew he acted and i knew he did comedy acting yeah no you're weren't alone when i saw he had this special i literally had to like go back is this comedy yeah i guess so many people who are like famous actors of today funny actors got their start doing stand-up maybe they left it behind like the jerry seinfelds of the world never stopped doing stand-up some people do like they it's kind of a means to an end for them so i don't know that i knew this yeah me neither and it's a it is a good way to talk about um the thing what had happened to him that everyone was talking about that I don't think there's any way for him to like explain it concisely because it's such a big thing and then the recovery so he woke up he was in a wheelchair he was like why the fuck am I in a wheelchair I'm just coming out of shit he said he thought the whole thing was like a prank um but it took him like months to recuperate come out of the hospital like get his physical abilities back so it's just been a real big journey for him and he's talking about it in this special I like that I really like Jamie Foxx.
57:16Like, I'm endeared to him so deeply because of Dreamgirls. Like, he was just my favorite. And I feel like we're in this time, weird time in Hollywood. And he's also a singer. Yes, I knew that. Dreamgirls. I'm endeared to him from Annie. Oh, tracks. Well, I feel like we're at this place in culture where we're looking at, like, these really OG Hollywood people. Like, we're looking at them a little suspiciously, right? Everyone I see. Like I just saw these pictures of Ashton Kutcher. Like he had staged paparazzi of him giving$100 to a valet. Like tip, did you see? And like the$100 was like literally pointed toward the camera.
57:50Everybody is on some sort of like PR mission with the Diddy stuff. And so I am looking at everybody quite suspiciously. And I just, in my mind, Jamie Foxx is safe. Jamie Foxx passes muster? I think. I do. Like I think he's like a real family man. And so I just hope, you know. Yeah. We have to like, we have to put out like who we want to protect. Also beat Shazam. Like Loki have so much in common. Oh. With Jamie Foxx. Beat Shazam. No, also Jamie Foxx like really makes content for us. Yeah. No, we have like a lot of similar interests. Like not a lot of people would be in a show about the app Shazam.
58:26For me, that's my favorite app. He's also, now that I think about it, like really always maintained a level of like family friendliness in all of his content, which I now appreciate like realizing it. Yeah. so please like don't please don't send me any articles of him at a ditty party like yeah yeah yeah now i'm like googling him i'm like uh yeah let me just make sure did you see those ashton kutcher pictures no i didn't that's really funny wait let me go it was really lame like kutcher like the way the hundred dollars was pointed ashton kutcher proves he's a big tipper by slipping valet yeah and then put it on the pr wire and sent it out to a bunch of different outlets oh wow who gives a hundred like who tips like that with the whole bill flapping in the wind that's the thing most people you scrunch it up yeah it's a subtle thing but jackie there was a paparazzi oh my god that is really funny so i just feel like some bad stuff is coming out about ashton kutcher like i thought that was a preemptive strike that is funny are you ready for our fifth and final story yeah we're getting some more info about netflix's big christmas day football game yes is it about their tech and their ability to withstand millions of people on their platform at once no it's about their on-air talent that they've tapped including comedians nate bargates and bert kreischer oh so they're copying prime what they did with nikki glazer yep netflix has drafted its on-air talent roster for nfl christmas game day which will broadcast live from pittsburgh houston and la broadcasters will include father and son ian and noah eagle J.J.
59:59Watt and brothers Devin and Jason McCourty. The McCourty brothers. The Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Steelers. Lerd will be on Netflix. The Lerd will be on Netflix. The Chiefs are playing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Taylor will be on Netflix. Maybe they'll give us like a take cam. Hopefully we'll be able to see it. And the Baltimore Ravens will play against the Texans. Netflix is set to kick off their Christmas game day in studio with a bunch of analysts, including Jason Kelsey Manti Tao see I Manti Tao getting the Netflix money thank you I feel like they're really limited in who they can bring on air because every major athlete talking head broadcaster has an ironclad agreement with Fox with ESPN so like these are all people without contracts um and that doesn't leave you know the cream of the crop although JJ Watt like is like a full CBS something so I don't know how he got in there he must have like a loophole in his contract I am turning on every TV in my house, putting it on mute and letting it streams to support Manti Teo having this job.
1:01:00To put money in Manti Teo's pocket. Yeah, and I need Netflix to know this is for Manti. This one's for Manti. This one's for Manti. So then comedian Burt Kreischer and podcaster will join as a tailgate correspondent and comedian Nate Bargatesy joins as a special guest. So it'll be a little funny too. Yeah, I mean, could they throw one girl in there? like girls like especially with everyone watching for Taylor like give us something like I'm not saying there's anything wrong with any of these people but like they're not for me you know yeah there are like some female sports casters who will be there um no let me tell you why I'm so funny because you're talking about us no no no I actually wasn't talking about it I don't want to wear Christmas I'm over here being like I want a woman and let me tell you during the Mike Tyson Netflix thing I could not stop talking and texting and like being like why the hell is Rosie Perez I actually still don't understand why Rosie Perez was one of the emcees on the Netflix Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight like former you know host of The View former actress like I guess she really likes the fight like she's like it's like an interest of hers UFC or whatever I thought it was so weird like I actually have not stopped thinking about it since um and actually I I think we should protect our women by not putting them forward for this because like I feel like for Burt Kreischer and Nate Bargatze like no one's going to question why they're there and whether they do a good or bad job it's not going to be a referendum on them but if there is like a woman who's not talking about sports like literally her life would be ruined and like her I know and like we need to protect the women don't do not go but a lot of people are tuning in for Beyonce right she's the halftime performer at the Ravens game Houston versus Ravens yes so I wonder who's performing for the Chiefs game.
1:02:47I feel like nobody if they haven't announced it. You don't think Lerd? No I don't. Although she does like definitely have like no she's a Disney girl. That's like her new contract. Like Reputation was on Netflix but then Lily Pond Studios and Eras were on Disney Plus and Hulu. I'm just saying like if they need last minute talent like you do have a singer in the audience. Yeah yeah yeah. I'm sure she'd be more than happy to do an acoustic set. This will be fun. We'll be together i like the idea of just like turning on netflix for the day if it works like seriously they have not answered us they have have dropped the ball they have i think four times now really invested in like a major live streamed event chris rock special which i don't think like broke the internet to the point where they had any issues but then the love is blind reunion that they did live where everybody was tuning in did not work for anybody i couldn't watch mike tyson jake paul this is now the fourth and they absolutely have to get it together half the people couldn't even watch mike tyson i could not watch i now i could also i wasn't once they said i like i literally couldn't turn it back on and i wasn't like that mad because i was tired and the fight wasn't going to be on forever but like even if i wanted to and i was mad i could not watch so what is their plan for that i would love to hear a press release on that we've hired new engineers we bought more cords like something yeah yeah we bought more cords like maybe they needed an extra charger did they maybe maybe they need to unplug it and plug it back yeah a quick hard reset i would have i would like an update on that before i get all excited about seeing beyonce and taylor agreed but i like where they're headed with this little comedy little podcasting little schmooze little christmas yeah it's done well you guys the first night of hanukkah is on christmas which never happens yes okay wait so yesterday is going into january but let's not talk about that's weird jackie officially started our family secret santa she took the uh initiative and did the elfster emailed everybody there their people now me and ben did not share did you know because we got reamed out last year for last year he came in if he wanted to tell me who he got and i was like no so um without like telling me obviously like give me your reaction to who you got i'm very excited even though there's no one that I would be like dreading because I think we're all really fun and we know each other so well and we can have so much fun with it.
1:05:09But like I feel like the potential is limitless for what I can do. Okay. And this was my reaction to mine. I was like, hmm. Do you know what I mean? I do know what you mean. But where do you think you'll be heading to shop? Probably Amazon if I had to guess. And Amazon is the sponsor of Deer Toasters. They heard that everybody in the actual universe is talking about Deer Toasters and they said, we want to sponsor Deer Toasters. So this morning, it really hit us. There's only two weeks left till the start of Hanukkah and Christmas and there's still so much left for us to do. It can really start to spiral, especially like now I have this new responsibility of Secret Santa for my person.
1:05:46Like what is the Jewish Secret Santa called? Mystery Maccabee. Hate. Okay, Secret Santa. I have a lot to do and like my Christmas plans are now firming up and I'm getting a little bit nervous. But then I remembered I'm an Amazon swirly, prime member for life and I can get everything that I need without leaving my bed. Now, of course, you have a ton of options when it comes to shopping online. But especially in the holiday season with things being so delayed, like shipping is a nightmare. The one thing you can count on in this world is death taxes and Amazon arriving on time, maybe even early. Maybe even early.
1:06:18So they have incredible holiday deals. So if you're looking for big ticket items that you might not shop until they're on sale, like for me, certain vacuums, certain hair tools, I won't buy until they're on sale. and Amazon has great holiday deals across a wide selection of brands that you know and love and some of them are at their lowest prices of the year. Plus, if you have a Prime membership, you're getting that unlimited free shipping including millions of products with same day and on-day delivery so there's no need to stress about last-minute shopping. Let me tell you, I'm at Jackie's house and I ordered something on Amazon and it arrived that day.
1:06:50That's really crazy. Yeah, now that's customer service. For even more savings, check out Amazon Haul which has fashion, home, lifestyle, and electronics all at just$20 or less with the majority of items priced under$10, some as low as just$1. Just make sure to order in time since Amazon Hall has typically delivery in one to two weeks. They also have been using AI at Amazon as like a shopping assistant called Rufus, like very Gossip Girl coded. It's a real game changer for finding Hanukkah gifts. For any hard shop for family members, you just tap the Rufus icon, which looks like a little chat bubble with sparkles.
1:07:19It's in the navigation bar or at the bottom of the screen in the Amazon app, and it can help you discover unique gifts tailored to your needs. Or if you're shopping for someone like Secret Santa, someone that you like don't really know what to get, like put in oh yes like let ai do the leg work oh like this person loves i don't want to give away who i got but me neither this person loves dogs loves theater we all love theater you know like you can really get creative let ai work its ai magic with rufus and of course like if you're shopping the deals it's important to get things for yourself like i feel like i've oh recently like while i'm shopping for people i've gotten a couple of things on amazon that i have been waiting to get like a Dyson vacuum.
1:07:59I got such a great deal on it. They had great Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and all throughout the rest of the year, they have amazing deals. So make sure to monitor that deals page because you shouldn't be paying full price like ever. Also, when in doubt, get a Kindle. Oh, I mean, the Amazon branded products like their own Fire Stick, Kindle. They have the Echo. I have like the Alexas. Oh, the Blink. Yeah. It's premium. And those Amazon products, they have the best deals during the holidays. So visit Amazon.com slash holiday to start shopping today. That's Amazon.com slash holiday. All right, Jax, are you ready for our Dear Toasters?
1:08:33Kind of the segment on everybody's lips. Yeah, I'm worried, I'm nervous, and I'm anxious. Let's just rip off the Band-Aid. So Dear Toasters is our weekly advice segment where Jackie and I do our absolute best to help the swirlies in need. They write to us, and we, you know, give back to the community. It's our way of doing a little philanthropy weekly. And if you ever want to write in, send us an email, deartosters at gmail.com, or you can also head over to our website, thetoastpodcast.com. Scroll down a little bit. There's a submission box that's completely anonymous. Both ways are anonymous.
1:08:59We'll never blow your shit up. We're just here to help, okay? Mm-hmm. Turt and jerked. I'm a longtime listener and first-time writer and I have a very weird dilemma. I spent this Thanksgiving with my boyfriend's family for the first time ever. We've been together for six months and it's going really well. But while we were saying what we're thankful for, he said he was thankful that I'm on Ozempic and I'm on my weight loss journey. I told him afterward that it made me uncomfortable, especially since this was my first time meeting his extended family and they don't need to know I'm on a GLP-1 medication.
1:09:27But he said I was overreacting because he meant it in a good way, that I'm getting healthier. And if I'm ashamed of that, that it's my own problem. I've brought it up a few times since then and he will not apologize. Am I being crazy? What can I say to make him understand? Oh my goodness, that is so bad. I didn't even think like about the fact that now they know you're on Ozemic, but it's like that's what he's thankful for. Like he doesn't like love you as you are. and of course you know if you're getting more snatches exciting but like that's what you're going to say in front of your family as what you're thankful for to be honest if you had said that about your own journey albeit a little over sharing with new family that's totally understandable to be so excited about your partner's weight loss like that's red flag central like i oh i hate also ozempic is so personal most people don't share that they're on it not everybody's like me like spreading their legs like it's personal i think for me like I found it really embarrassing in the beginning so I was like I would rather die than admit that I'm on it it's like oh my god stop eating you have to take a shot every week like I felt so embarrassed by it that like if anybody oh my god but this like to me that's like the second offense because the first one being like you're literally saying you don't like me like as I am and you're saying it in front of other people which is just more embarrassing now like sometimes men really say the stupidest fucking things and like it isn't until like a lot of conversation that they understand what they did was wrong so like i do want to help you get to a path if your relationship is like otherwise great like i don't want to hit break up with your boyfriend because you know it's hard to find a good guy it's so true in this economy like we can't be so picky like i try i want to find a path for him to understand like for it's a click for him and he's like oh fuck i fucked up it sounds like you've been telling him yeah but why isn't it resonating for him this is the he this is the craziest part is that when she confronted him he said if I'm ashamed of it then that's my own problem like yeah that's so mean yeah no it's not good we need to get him to understand like if someone at our Thanksgiving table like when you're dating if like someone's boyfriend had said this like oh yeah dating like now we're all like married we make fun of each other and like our weight everybody's on yeah like I cook for Thanksgiving nobody eats it it's so no it's like it's funny now but like when we were dating say like you were dating Ben and he said that like would I tell you to break up with him yeah especially the difference is that Ben is also on Ozempics like we're in the same boat but like this guy's not so like he definitely feels like he's coming from a place of moral superiority and like to blow you up your spot like I'm sorry I'm struggling not to press the button no here's what I'm gonna say you need to evaluate and this is what I'll say instead of ever pressing the button like you need to evaluate the rest of the relationship like if it seriously is a perfect relationship this is a dream man and like this is the fact like then we'll work to make him understand like and work towards a path to forgiveness but like now you need to is this the right relationship for you because this is a serious red flag I just don't think it's possible for it to be a perfect relationship say it was Ben who did it at our Thanksgiving table like you could see him like you could see a person making a mistake saying something so stupid but the rest of your relationship isn't worth throwing out the window for a bad moment No, because if I confronted Ben and said, like, something you said really embarrassed me, even if, and I feel like we've had a conversation like this before, and even if he disagreed with it, he would feel badly for making me feel embarrassed.
1:12:41It's true. So, like, so there's so, this can't be a perfect relationship. One, because, yeah, everybody makes mistakes, but his reaction afterwards makes me think that he doesn't see it as a mistake. And so, you can't be a perfect partner, husband, father of your children if you're happy to air your wife's dirty laundry, girlfriend, embarrass her, be okay with it, and not hear her out when she speaks to you. yeah I think like a break to start maybe a break will make him see yeah hate your boyfriend sorry yeah but like you should be like that the person that I want to be with like would protect me would never embarrass me and even if they people slip up and say the wrong thing sometimes but then yes of course come to you and tell you how I feel that you would like still not apologize or attempt to understand how I feel like that's not a partner and I don't think this is the right relationship like maybe risk it all but you better be willing to walk it's so true because if you're all talk no action you lose all your power then oh the next time this happens he'll say worse he's like she didn't give a shit our next submission is our fault and so we have to be extra helpful okay hey girly swirly told someone to break up with their boyfriend no no i've recently started dating this guy it's been about three months not official yet but everything so far so far has been really great and i really like him last night as he was leaving my apartment and we kissed and without thinking I said love ya bye in Jackie's voice I immediately followed up with oh it's a toast reference you wouldn't get it to which he responded the toast his uber was here and he was rushing out so we couldn't discuss it further but now my head is spinning wondering if he thinks I said love ya do I bring it up again to try and explain do I completely ignore it and hope it never comes up please help you have to listen to an episode of the toast with him yeah I'm glad that you addressed it in the moment because now it's like if he does want to go looking like he could find you're not lying you're not lying so I also this is what I'm going to do to help you like I feel like you need to have the toast playing in the background so that he can hear that that's how we talk and right now we're going to stage a clip for you to play so that he knows that this is how we talk okay so we're just going to like use a lot of love you bye okay are you ready I'm ready action Claude this has been such a fun episode with you I just absolutely I love podcasting with you so much but I have to bid you adieu oh love you bye love ya bye no i love ya bye oh my god nobody loves ya bye more than me love ya bye the thing is if you did say it with like a weird intonation in your voice like you were clearly like not rehearsing what's the word i'm looking for like copying uh imitating imitating you were clearly imitating some like reference you're totally fine also i don't think this man thinks you love him like you are like not even boyfriend and girlfriend like you're it's not like you said it prematurely like five months in like you're totally fine um just play the podcast for him and you can either bring it up again or like i think the more natural sort of like very subtle playing the podcast is the best move yeah maybe he hears you on the phone to a girlfriend like love you bye like it's just like it's just what we say saying it to wait or man to the mailman to the waiter everyone the teacher everyone yeah yeah i think it's fine don't like mention it don't address it just keep on with your relationship everyone and then also do this work in the background yes yes you have to put in the work now yeah it's time to work and we're sorry and we're sorry sorry everything we say is so catchy and filled with love sorry or you could actually just play him this submission it's so we are corroborating your story early in the relationship like for her to be writing into her favorite podcast about and like for for us to be being honest don't you find yeah it's definitely yes but but it's good to be honest when you truly have nothing to hide i know but like you don't have to you're still like put holding your cards to your chest like we're still playing the game here play on my friend are you ready for our third one day when you're married with children you can play this episode for him oh yeah yeah when you guys are on your deathbeds.
1:16:39I'm ready for the third. Hey, Jackson Claude. I desperately need your advice about something disturbing I found on my husband's laptop. To be clear, I was not snooping. I was on his laptop filling out insurance forms. I left my computer at work. When I started the forms, I just wanted to copy and paste a picture. So I hit control C to copy. And then when I hit paste, I did not properly copy my picture because instead it pasted some text that I did not write and that I assumed was written by my husband the last time I used the laptop the text that appeared before my very eyes was quote angry pegging do you know what that is pegging yeah like with a an inanimate object yeah and i've seen the bold type it's actually it's adamant object inanimate i thought inanimate is like invisible inanimate is like fake
1:17:29inanimate object is a thing that is not alive such as a chair a book or a rock oh yes yeah and out of an object yeah okay at first i laughed it off to myself thinking it was some silly random words but then the wheels started turning he must have been searching for this phrase while watching porn now i'm not a prude but this is kind of ick right i mean i had no idea that he was even into that sort of thing we've never done butt stuff other than you know a light touch. And the angry, the visuals are really disturbing me. I'm completely kerfuffled. What makes me even more disturbed is that now I'm thinking about our sex life.
1:17:59It's been very vanilla the last year and so to be honest, he doesn't finish like 25 % of the time. Is this all related? Is it because our sex is not intense enough for him? Do I say something? Do I ignore it forever? How do I have sex with this man ever again without him thinking of the phrase angry Peggy? Okay, well I didn't even think that he's like copy and pasting it into, you know, porn sites because it's like not that much to type. Yeah, no, that's the only flaw in this story. why would you have that copy like are you that lazy lazy maybe maybe but I think that you could have like a bit of a state of the union about your sex life they don't mention the angry pegging but just be like we've been together I don't know if she said how long that's her husband yes it was her husband but she doesn't say how long they've been together just find a way or you could do it without a conversation some people don't like to talk about these things which I get to but you can't just like bring something new into the bedroom because then it's like where have you been who are you sleeping with yeah jackie's right though like i feel like in a marriage like it's okay to have like a referendum on sex life like it can get boring like we get busy so being like i feel like we've lost a little bit of our spice like what should we do like give it put the ball in his court see if he brings it up yeah but like do it in like a non like attacking just like in a like and not judgmental we're here to have fun sort of way yeah i understand why your tone in this steer toasters was like a little you know questionable but it's important that you go into the conversation like totally open and accepting because like if somebody opens up about like a sexual fantasy and you're being like oh icky that's gross like you are gonna shame them into like into hiding for the rest of their lives like it's actually very triggering it's called kink shaming I believe um so if you're gonna have this conversation you have to be open to like him maybe bringing this up if you're not open to ever doing this with your husband don't ask don't ask questions you don't want answers to because he's gonna bring it up you're gonna say no and then it's like we're at a standstill where he feels embarrassed you feel grossed out like so if you're open to if you're open to exploring have the conversation if you're not then you have a piece of information that you can do nothing with there also are like ways to spice it up without it having to be angry pegging like maybe like that's just like what he wants to watch but like there are things you could do along the way it's it's it's a destination it's not the journey there's a journey to angry pegging yeah the yellow brick road if you will right so i feel like yeah we could we could talk about some inanimate tings yeah yeah yeah let's go shopping or we could do it for the privacy of our own home yeah amazon they have everything comes on holiday gift under the tree oh they do oh well you also could do that just surprise him being like listen i read your mind i read you no because what if it was like a friend or what if they're also that's why you have to handle this because there is a very small percentage like he lent the laptop to someone you know it's just like not what you think like maybe he copied that phrase from somewhere because he like thought it was fun like just no no maybe he was like reading it on uh something and didn't know what it meant so he copied it and googled it literally so there's always that but you did say the 25 % of the time that it's not you know a success so there's room for convo or or a little bit of zhuzhing here a thousand percent a thousand percent so have a have an open and honest conversation if you are open if you are that's a huge part here but there's a there's a lot you know it's a spectrum so of course of course you get to get started you can start small maybe you'll like it so much you know maybe you become like the angriest pegger there ever was i would really like to thank everybody for writing into us today and all days for being open and honest and vulnerable with us hopefully i actually think we provided really helpful advice this week Some weeks we just like laugh and don't give the best advice.
