In short
The Toast episode “Mariska Incorporated: Tuesday, September 15th, 2026” is a pop-culture roundup anchored by an Emmys discussion and celebrity gossip, plus a personal chat about famous people and influencer culture.
Guests/hosts
The episode is hosted by “the toast” (hosts are Toast’s Jackson Claude and another co-host who repeatedly speaks as “I” and “we”). They don’t introduce external guests; all commentary is between the two hosts.
Key claims and notable examples
- Mariska Hargitay’s Emmys hosting is praised as warm, funny, and non-divisive; they cite her pre-recorded sketches featuring Taylor Swift and Jalen Brunson, and her “looks”/delivery.
- They critique award-show pacing and commercial volume, but still highlight winners: “Widow’s Bay” (big winner), Jean Smart (Hacks), and Noah Wyle’s dual wins across categories/shows.
- They discuss Celine Dion’s comeback after stiff person syndrome, emphasizing her documentary’s graphic seizures and her first show back in France; they say her voice sounds different but she performs impressively.
- Taylor Swift at the Chiefs game: they note she sat near Tom Cruise and Travis Kelcey; they also discuss a possible pregnancy narrative based on her not drinking.
- Michaela Matthews (Secret Lives of Mormon Wives) exits the show, claiming recent information conflicted with her morals and that continuing would “platform” behavior she opposes.

0:21Jackie Oshry:It's the toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to the toast and happy Tuesday. I hope everybody had a great night. I did. I watched the first time. family stone so i wouldn't say it was like a great night um we both did our homework i watched the emmys you watched the family stone so we could come here today and discuss both ad nauseum and the streets were really interested to hear what i would think about the family stone and as predicted did you feel like sjp was the victim for a minute but like things change quickly for her no no and actually like at one point like the family did take it too far like in the kitchen when she like drop that thing on the floor oh no but by then they were all good because she really redeemed herself with that present which like actually brought a tear to my eye um by the time also i haven't seen the movie in a while what was the present she got everyone and she's passing out the same gift to everyone so we're like what did you get everyone and they all opened in it's like a fame frame photo of the mom sybil just like looking very beautiful and pregnant and like radiant and they were that's nice all moved to tears um i would say by the time the sister came like sjp's doing better she's obviously hard to root for like what was she doing and saying at the dinner table the dinner table like girl shut up what was shut up and when she was like she was like that's not what i mean that's not what and then her boyfriend was like why don't you say what you mean then like yeah just find the words to say what you mean because it sounds really bad georgia rule is her boyfriend at the time right dermot milrony dermot milrony and then she spoiler alert leaves with Owen Wilson right like the derelict brother yes and then the sister goes
1:58Claudia Oshry:with Dermot so it's great but unfortunately she still has to join this family that she was never right for in the first place and I guess we'll see how that turns out in the long-awaited sequel yeah I guess there will be like a lot of kids why was the not that you would know this because you barely remember the movie but why was the husband of the pregnant daughter not there who I don't even know what you're talking about I haven't seen there's a pregnant daughter Susanna She's like, she's pregnant and she also has a kid already. And her husband like literally only comes on Christmas morning, like walks in and says Merry Christmas.
2:32Like he wasn't there. I don't know. Like why? I don't know. Yeah, if someone could sound off if I missed something. Like is he in the armed forces? I don't know. I watch the Emmys. One, because it's my job. And two, because like I did have to support the matriarch of television, Miss Mariska Hargitay. And like I'm sure we'll talk about it in the stories and we'll go through like all the winners and stuff. but in her monologue first of all she was cracking me up like she did a good job and I feel like a lot of the times when you're a comedian you write a lot of the jokes but she's just like an actress and a host like everything was written for her so I was a little bit afraid that like it wouldn't be like good or personal it was funny like obviously some of the stick was stupid but she did what she was supposed to do is like she brought Jalen Brunson and Taylor Swift into her pre-recorded sketches and like thank you queen and we got like 11 lawn otter jokes like thank you that's all we into premio and um oh and in her monologue she was like i'm the first woman to host the emmys in 15 years and like seriously she shouldn't have said that because that's genuinely embarrassing like for hollywood which claims to be like this extremely inclusive progressive institution it's like wait for we're still doing that like first woman like what it was it was just kind of like
3:37Claudia Oshry:awkward when she said it i guess but it also like it makes it a huge woman for her so she should get her flowers like she shouldn't not get them because they should be embarrassed of course but like every speech you know every you know classic award show stuff even though i found that it wasn't like a terribly annoying award show no one was being like so patronizing they just love to say what we do is so important we're storytellers it's like that's fine by the way that's fine with me but what firefighters do is so important do you know what i mean like they just were putting themselves on the same level as firefighters and where are the fireys correct like this just sense of like real importance.
4:12And like Sally Field, she was like, it started in the caves and the fires. And it's like, okay, like you're just like doing movies. Whatever. I actually enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. And the, I think I need to watch Widow's Bay. I've never heard of it until last night and it won every award. And so it was a lovely evening for the small screen. I'm so glad. the last few award shows I've watched I've like deeply regretted and I think I'm in a place of boycott right now so I was not going to watch the Emmys and I'm glad I had homework to do because I maybe would have felt conflicted but like no no it got really bad towards the end of last award season so I'm on there there are various types of award shows right like music tv I find the music ones like way more tolerable because at the end of the day like we're getting performances you know And even if you like don't agree with the winners or you find it like you still get music.
5:07And that's always fun. There was one performance last night during the in memoriam with Noah Kahn. So like, was it like I didn't watch it. Why? Sounds good. It was at the end. Like, I'm sorry. It was such a long award show. And I thought there was a tribute to Dolly. I heard there. I heard like I saw this morning there was like Reba and. Oh, oh, I missed something huge. Who was it? I'm sorry. Like I gave two hours of my time. I feel that if you can't get the whole show in, in the two hours, and maybe if you took less commercial breaks, that was insane. It was literally like one award commercial break, one award commercial break.
5:44So many commercial breaks. I can't let people complain about the ads on this show. Like take your complaints to the Hollywood foreign press. Like that was an insane amount of commercials. And at least we do ours with like style and pizzazz and comedy. Like, Oh my God, it was dreadful. It's true. Sally Field and Reba led an emotional tribute to Dolly Parton at the Emmys. Oh, I must have missed that. My bad. But I feel that I saw the gist of the program.
6:07Claudia Oshry:Yeah. So big winner was Widow's Bay. Anything else noteworthy? Actually, we're going to talk about some of the noteworthy things from the Emmys that everyone will care about. But I just want to say Mariska did a great job. We got her whole family there, Peter Herman. Anytime we get the Herman Hargitake crew out of the house, it's a good day. Do you think this is the... Because now I'm remembering our conversation about Mariska hosting the Emmys and my prediction that she will be like the next kelly clarkson um oh did you say that because i was thinking last night that she's actually giving kelly like she could be the next household name in this country america's sweetheart you know product line tv show she's just like very warm and welcoming rachel ray formula yes um so do you think that last night was the beginning of like mariska incorporated 1000 you want to know why she was not divisive at all she didn't make any political jokes and I think like we always say about Kelly the reason why a lot of people can't fill her shoes is because they almost can't help themselves but like put their personal thoughts and agenda and political and which I totally understand that's why we said pink wouldn't be a good host because she's like a prince because she's very principled on a lot of political issues I feel that Mariska just wanted to entertain and I think that she would make an amazing Kelly and like I'm ready for the Wayfair for Mariska Mariska Hargitay for Wayfair line yeah yeah okay she's on her way i feel like we're gonna see more of that and she gave us like looks too like she changed every time she came on stage she did a hilarious game of thrones but like she was actually cracking me up she's funny like we don't get to see her in that light a lot because she's like a sex crimes detective but she was like joking just about like she said something funny she was like i won my first emmy in 2000 whatever for olivia benson everybody clapped and she's like and i've won a number of them since that day.
7:52That number being zero. She was just funny. She had good delivery. She looked glad. I'm like, seriously, A plus. Choice, I never would have thought. Like, so random. But she is. She doesn't even get enough credit just because she's so embedded in culture. She's literally the matriarch of daytime television. Not even daytime. She's holding it together. Yeah, and they're going on to their 28th season. Like, she doesn't get enough credit for being the hardest working woman in Hollywood. I think credit starts now. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful journey for Mariska. Yeah, maybe like she was raising her kids, so she was happy just to have this like consistent gig with Law & Otter.
8:23It films in New York. She lives in New York. She doesn't have to like miss out on the recitals and stuff. But now, because I saw a picture of her kids, they're like kind of grown, like little preteens. So maybe now she can start doing things outside of just Olivia Benson, a homeware line, a cooking show. No more recitals. No more recitals. I got the vibe that like maybe this is kind of like a debutante quinceanera, like a coming out party for Mariska. It's the beginning of, I think, a five-point plan. I live and I love, live, laugh, love Mariska Hargitay. With probably new representation. They have a mood board.
8:57Yep. Mariska. And she definitely needs the backing of a VC firm to take her product line, her beauty line, and just make it come to life. Maybe a food line. Yeah. Big Salam out news. We actually have great stories today. Actually, four out of the five stories could have been number one story of the day. So the first four will be in like no particular order, but just know like they're all fighting for the number one spot. We also have Dear Toasters. Whereas it's usually the opposite. Like none of these stories are a number one story. Not usually, but more often than not. I've never had this problem of four number ones.
9:31Yeah, this is a great problem to have. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But so don't be like, oh, why is like Macklemore number four? Like he could be number one on a different day. I don't feel that he would ever be number one. That story is what could have been number one. No, sorry. I was just saying like Macklemore in general. the story could be maybe it will be number one let's see where the conversation goes but that's big news we also have dear toasters and we also just like have a lot to do so i won't dilly dally too much but i did want to say talk about one thing i went down a rabbit hole yesterday uh like i'm not sure if anyone's following because it's all happening in europe um like celine dion's big comeback oh so i watched her documentary if you've seen her documentary like you know okay she was diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in 2021 and she basically lost all motor function her documentary was chilling because she had like a live seizure um on the documentary while she was getting a massage and they kept the whole thing and it was like very graphic and deeply disturbing but i think like it was a real um window into what it's like to live with that chronic illness and over the years you know we've heard from her very briefly she did perform at the olympics that was like a really big deal um i do believe her condition got way worse after that and then a little while ago i remember she went on hoda and was talking about how like she's in the process of rebuilding now like basically how like you know when you get in a car crash you have to learn how to walk like she had to learn how to do everything and that includes singing she like lost complete control of her vocal cords so she's literally taught herself how to sing and over the weekend she had her first show back I think it was in France Brian Kelly
10:57Jackie Oshry:was there so I was like following the whole thing through Brian's Instagram and now I've seen like a million clips it is actually like it's the craziest thing to watch first of all her voice sounds completely different like you can tell like it's almost sounds like a different person singing and first of all she sounds amazing she doesn't sound like herself and i feel that you know she her she sounded like everything was so much harder for her like she used to belt out these lyrics like not even move like it was nothing to her she's so focused she's trying so hard she sounded incredible it's very emotional like you have to watch these videos of course she's serving looks and she's like still being her celine dion self but she sounds really different but it's literally amazing to see somebody like literally completely rebuild just basically teach them so it's like literally we sat down one day i was like i'm gonna learn how to sing like couldn't even talk it's the most insane thing ever she's such a queen and i do think now she's gonna go like do a series of shows not just this one comeback show it's a beautiful thing to watch i think it's very inspiring to people with chronic illnesses like especially stiff person syndrome yeah wow okay i have to see the videos you do have to see the videos like it's insane it's very emotional i'm curious to hear what she sounds like if it's so different it's so different and then i think her big thing was like she really wanted to hit that one note in all by myself it's like animal and that's like her whole that's like her thing her whole life i think that's literally what made her famous back in the day the video of it first of all she slayed it like she hit it hardcore i saw some other videos she doesn't hit every note it's not a perfect performance she's like literally rebuilding but this particular note like i think means the world to her it was like i actually started crying when i watched it it was beautiful like really beautiful oh wow it's kind of one of the great tragedies of our time like celine dion is one of the greatest vocalist in the modern era like maybe in the last 100 years and she got diagnosed with this illness that robbed her of that and it's kind of a modern tragedy yeah her documentary was so sad if you haven't seen it it's on prime yeah okay i was admitted to the premiere the night i met kelly clarkson i just wanted to share like that really annoying fun fact that's a good fun fun fact.
13:00Yeah. You're free to share that at, you know, at your will. Do you feel like sometimes you forget famous people that you've met? Maybe, but I think I forget like fun facts, you know, when people be like, what's like the craziest thing that's ever happened or like, you know, we just had this conversation about close on Sunday. Yeah. Right. Who do you think is the most famous person you've ever met? I, I can't even rack my brain. Um, and and what do you mean met like like either taking a photo with or chatted with like not just been in the same room because yeah okay taylor swift i went to her concert we were in the same room or like did you do a meet and greet that counts that counts if you exchanged words photos glances that counts
13:52besides me obviously um who was i just like i met miley cyrus once that's what i was thinking most famous that's like my most famous celebrity like running you know running that's different than like being at an event or something yeah like before he was who he is now and he was just sort of like the wonder kid building spaceships i met elon musk at like a party and he was like i love your blog and i was like okay and i always forget that that happened because he's like elon then is different than elon now but i feel like that's probably the most famous person i've ever met that's a very famous person yeah and i didn't even understand the magnitude of it at the time i've met kim i've met kim yeah yes i've met kim yeah yeah this is just genuinely like one of the ugliest photos together and she's the most famous person in the world so that's the most famous person when did you meet kim like a work like you wouldn't even know it was probably like 10 years ago but like it was a work event it was um i feel like it's not bringing up any memories it wouldn't i would like i think it was like a corporate thing corporate back in my corporate days oh okay oh i met serena williams that's like really up there too it was a corporate meeting yeah corporate meeting of the minds yeah cool very cool super i love celebrities super cool yeah i feel like i'm that girl like i'm literally megan fox in confessions of a teenage drama queen like i feel that my worth is directly tied to like how many celebrities i met megan and stew wolf like into his party like whenever that was like exactly i forget you had like a birthday party or something and someone like famous was like there.
15:35I'm not going to remember. It was literally 10 years ago. Wait, hold on. It's sounding familiar. And I told you you were being like Megan Fox and Stuball. There was somebody famous at my birthday party? Yeah, like a million years ago. Like maybe someone from The Bachelor or something. Oh, okay. I guess we're playing fast and loose with the word famous. That meant everything to us then. Back in the day, it's so true. And I stand by what I said yesterday,
15:58Claudia Oshry:which is like, I don't know, famous like celebrities like don't really do it for me. now yeah i met alex earl so i guess alex earl would be the most her and elon musk i'm really like in my influencer era like i only care about the influencers i wonder if other people feel that way at all like i don't know i find celebrities so boring with the exception of like taylor swift and select few highly yes when it comes to who i would rather be in a room with like a bunch of boring actors or like a bunch of viral tiktok and youtubers like yeah i think i'd go for the latter honestly same same maybe it's because like that whole parasocial element where it feels like we really know them i don't know what it is but they at least for me just like eclipsed interest they're more interesting yeah yeah so good job i think a lot of people feel that way good job influencers you're doing good job influencers yeah consider me influenced for sure now i feel like we should dive in we do have like a shit ton to do today and like there's a lot of things that we need to talk about in tandem of like what we already talked about like taylor and mariska so without further ado to do to do it is time for the fast size stories that you do need

Speaking of our favorite swirly, Skims actually just placed a huge Skims order. I love Skims. When it comes to all things, loungewear, undergarments, underwear, bras, Skims is top tier. Their fabrics are truly one of a kind. And they're in their cotton era, which I think a lot of people are because we're all becoming just like way more conscious of the materials that we're wearing, especially in our, you know, intimates. And when it comes to cotton, they have everything, especially in these like warmer times, like you need cotton.
18:55Jackie Oshry:So their cotton clothes, underwear, bras are super popular for a reason. They're very lightweight. You guys know, I love their bralettes. I think it's the best product that they make. And I have the fits everybody one, which I love and I wear to sleep a lot. I have the cotton one. Um, the rib tanked rib tanks are like very viral and very trendy. People love them. If you're looking for one that's still going to hold up over time. Cause I think a lot you get a ribbed tank and it just like stretches and loses its fit. But it's not too tight too. That's an important distinction. We love that it keeps its shape.
19:23Jackie Oshry:It doesn't get baggy after a few wears. Everything from Skims is amazing. Shop the Skims cotton collection and all of our favorite pieces at skims.com. After you place your order, be sure to let them know that we sent you. You can select podcast in the dropdown menu that follows and select toast from the survey. Like, yeah, I know about this fabulous comedy from the fabulous podcast that I listen to. So skims.com for all the skims, cotton pieces that you need. I feel like, do you ever watch the Fruit AI, like, soap operas? Yeah. And their names are always Banana Cheetah, like, because it's a banana, and then it's, like, Orangina.
23:44Yeah, and you're Turtuccino. I'm Turtuccino, yeah. Our first story, Taylor Swift appears at the Chiefs game last night, chatting with Tom Cruise as they cheer on Travis Kelsey at the first Chiefs game of the season. So I forgot this is something that happens, but the Chiefs played last night. Travis's wife Taylored was in attendance sitting next to Tom Cruise Taylor's back throwing to Turney for comment okay I feel that last night between the Mariska Hargitay pre-taped segment and her in real life at the Chiefs game we got a very very good look at the new haircut and might I say I love it like it's really inspired I don't even know what to call it because it's not a lob but it's not like mid either it's a very unique length and I think it looks great, especially for a girl who like relatively never changes her hair.
24:36Like if she had her curly era and like that's pretty much it and then the bangs. Like she's kind of consistent in that and getting a haircut is of course scary. I just want to say I love it. Like I really love it. I love it too. Are you talking about the hair so much because you're avoiding having to deal with the fact that she was with Tom Cruise, your mortal enemy? No, I'm not. I hate to just like lead with negativity because as you guys know, I'm not that type of person. Yeah, of course. It's devastating to see my biggest, like my role model sitting with my op, Tom Cruise. Like, because one thing about me, I keep my foot on the neck of Tom Cruise.
25:07Now, do I think that this is a poor reflection on Taylor and like the people on Twitter who are like, it's so disappointing to see her. No, because I'm not a loser. But it is so disappointing. No, I'm kidding. No, but I think also - I like to see her interacting with famous people. Like, I don't care really that much. They could have just wound up in the same box. I don't think he's like the personal guest of Taylor. no he is because as we know he is the personal guest yeah Taylor exclusively goes to games at Arrowhead she like won't go to other stadiums and it's because like she has her set up there I believe that they're in the same suite every time it's her suite or it's Travis's suite because there's always like Travis's family so no one is in there because they like had some extra tickets and they gave them to the marketing department like no he was a guest of Travis and Kelsey
25:51Claudia Oshry:maybe it's Travis maybe it's like he's a guest of Travis yeah and I just want to say like there's nothing wrong with being a Tom Cruise fan like like he is like one of the biggest movie stars in American history um and I do like that like in recent years like Taylor doesn't give a fuck I feel like she used to be like so afraid of any sort of scandal that she would shy away from like maybe a potential friendship because like Tom Cruise has bad PR like whatever I like that she doesn't care she likes her friends canceled I do think that that's something that comes with maturity and so i like that it is because it's also not even about like if you did like your friends canceled you would be friends with like lively so it's like what are you talking about or like uh kelly teller like what's literally what's going on um so i like that she doesn't give a fuck yeah i just like it would have been more exciting to see her there like sitting next to chloe kardashian you know what i mean like if i had to choose anyone like i ain't choosing tom cruise by the way fun fact chloe kardashian is a big fan of your favorite creator the one who meal preps you're kidding she knows our girl she does she's been commenting on her videos chloe is literally so real and what's the name of us what's the name it's them something do you mean the name of my favorite creator who actually just say her name because it's literally so them hoffers Them Hoffers.
27:10Oh, she's like saying that's probably the name of her family. Yeah. Her name is Cindy Hoffer and her handle is Them Hoffers. We keep talking about her, but we like can't, we forget the name. So that's her name. Chloe is a big fan. Chloe leaves comments. Chloe loves Reels, by the way. Yeah. She's a Reels mama. I like seriously love this woman with my whole life. No, me too. That's my goal. Like I want to be like her. She made like an amazing meal prep this week. As she does every week. Like pizza rolls. Just insane. no i will be her in due time quinoa bites so good and she's a cowboys fan oh is she from texas i always got the vibe that she was southern i have no idea i'm just sort of following along for the ride you know yeah i love her but i thought you would like that for chloe i do i do like that for chloe commented like you're amazing taylor took like a big break last season from going to games even at arrowhead remember we were like wondering if it was because she got like a botched facelift or like because of her stalker.
28:10There were a lot of different theories. But I guess she's back. Once you're married, like you got to go. Yeah. And I think, you know, the facelift has set. It looks really good. So she's going. She didn't time it perfectly. She probably timed it perfectly for the wedding, but she didn't time it perfectly for the Taloas press run. Yeah. And the beginning of football season
28:31Claudia Oshry:because she had to be hiding. Right. It was the end of football season. It's hard to find time to get a facelift when you're a public figure. Like when our time comes, I don't know what we're going to do. Well, you know, I'm very conflicted about getting a facelift. Okay. Because like obviously my conflict is that I love plastic surgery and I'm a believer that like if you need something, get something. And I'm sure I'll need one. Like I know I will need a lip lift one day. Like it's in my future. But I feel that people genuinely underestimate like how big of a procedure a facelift is. Like it's not like boob jobs are like low key standard.
29:04Like nose jobs too.
Read the full transcript
29:05Claudia Oshry:like you do recover in like a week and also like we could do i'm talking about us we could do this show recovering from a boob job oh yeah i mean i have no shame i'll sit here with the thing on my face you'll sit there wrapped up yeah it's more so that i feel that it's a major major recovery that i'm really not prepared for i'm not a good patient no you're not do you remember when i got like one thing done to my chin and like seriously never never stopped talking about it yeah yeah no i agree maybe you're not olivia said she could hear me olivia picked me up she said she could hear me from screaming from the waiting room.
29:37Claudia Oshry:And also as much as you said, like I'll sit here with a bandage, like you wouldn't be able to talk your face off for over an hour a day recovering from a facelift. Like it's not just about that you're wearing a bandage, like you're in pain. I think you forget I'm the girl who got a public IV on this podcast. I used to podcast hungover. You can do that. You can do anything. It's not true. That's not a big deal. But you're not even listening to what I'm saying like I don't think I have the constitution to go through such a like a major major procedure I think people underestimate generally what goes into getting a facelift sorry I skipped over that point because I heartily agreed and there is yeah enough said like I'm scared I'm not doing it I think I'm more scared of the facelift than I am of looking old and ugly yeah that's fair so i think i'll stick with like botox fillers like literally everything but like only because i'm afraid like but from the neck down i'll i'll look 26 face up 62 but will that not make you look older at least they're talking about me you know yeah anyways also say like let's give them something that's like it is hard to time your facelift as a public figure oh yeah um however because like we said it's a major surgery one year later she's looking amazing settled flawlessly yeah she looked it was a great night for taylor like she just looked and she's also like in an off era for her right she hasn't done any work professionally since t loas it's like travis's time she was planning a wedding right right she was getting married and then she don't i don't know what it when she does start working and stuff like what that means for her football attendance.
31:20Claudia Oshry:Yes. Well, we'll get to that in the next story, sort of. But I just wanted to say one more note about Taylor that people were noting was that she wasn't drinking. Yes, I, of course, saw the theories, the Taylor Swift stomach watchdogs. I'm with them. Like, she also could have just not been drinking. Like, maybe she had to wake up early. It doesn't mean anything. She doesn't usually have a vodka soda in her feed. But I think that if she were pregnant, then she would go to the effort to pretend like she could just get a cup of ice water and it wouldn't raise any flags. With a lime. So I actually think because she wasn't drinking, that's more of a clue that she's not.
31:51This is the girl who shows up to her shows in a refrigerator. Like she... She goes, there's no length she won't go to. To pull the wool over your eyes. 1 ,000%. So she could pour herself a little drink. A little seltzer. A cup of grape juice. She's not even going to pour it herself like someone's going to pour it for her. Yeah. So I don't think that that's a smoking gun at all. No, me neither. I would love for the gun to be smoky as hell. Smoking hot. But I don't think it is. Yeah, I don't think it is.
32:17Claudia Oshry:okay well it does lead into our next story which is a bit of emmy's discussion including the easter egg video that taylor swift did with olivia benson the sketch the svu sketch apparently there's a lot of easter eggs in there um well the concept of the sketch was very funny they were like trying to solve a crime in the svu office ice tea everyone was at rollins and um the crime no well not the crime like the question that they were trying to solve using all these like different clues was will taylor swift attend the emmys and they're like going through all the different shows and what it could possibly mean and then the new guy shows up taylor the detective she's like i think you guys have got this all backwards and whatever they ended up getting to the conclusion that of course she's not going to attend the emmys her husband has a football game that night the answer lies in tv and then her and mariska do this like cute it was very very first of all funny like me and ben were cracking it was well written of course because that is how the swifties are with her clues like putting them on board like detectives and we actually got clues from taylor last night right so here are some things on the board okay we have tuesday 8 a.m the clock is set to 10 13 and 10 13 october 13th is a tuesday so then we have tuesday 8 a.m october 13th question mark personally like i do draw the line with the easter eggs like i feel that my you know we all have a role to play in the war to come and my role as a swifty is not the decoding department i am not sitting down with my cork board i can't get involved in these types of things i really can't we have dtfst louis what's that tv show great thank you so much um because they were also using like the tv shows nominated last night to like yes yes yes there's a lot abbott elementary is here hacks elementary elementary just thought i'd switch it up elementary and then there's also speculation like based on this that two taylor's versions are in here two albums because it said two tv tv could be the television because it was the emmys or it could be taylor's version and then also when she said it all comes back to tv that could also be a taylor's version nod yeah even that we're yeah yeah north south i do think like without getting too specific into this one i'm setting alarm october 13 8 a.m two i do think this is the beginning of clues like i think some like like how you said she's due for an album and you said cma's her going this ain't my last call um i think we're on the road of an announcement and you know that her clothes are always a part of the universe and her like gingham southerny country dress last night like was giving cma country album of the year yeah yeah i think we're on the road i think we're on the road too it's exciting to be on the road it's frustrating and annoying but it's also exciting especially one of the worst places to be like at this point right here no the road gets really rocky when it's like all for a special edition vinyl vinyl album all for merch yeah yeah i agree but when it's all for something i'm sad agreed um and then do you want to talk about emmy winners oh yeah um nothing i
35:45Jackie Oshry:feel like there wasn't the pit was like the most nominated actually at one point i think in like the supporting actress category there were four actresses from the pit none of them won i feel like they split the vote like alice and janney won like it was so random um but so there wasn't i feel like a show actually widow's bay probably i kept calling it me and ben were talking about We're like, what is this show? Widow's Peak. Widow's Bay. Widow's Bay. What's it about? I have no idea. It's a comedy.
36:10Claudia Oshry:It sounds like it's about a lot of wealthy widows who live on the bay. No. I saw the clips. Nobody looked wealthy. Okay. There is a bay. A New England mayor trying to boost tourism on his island must navigate strange events suggesting it might be cursed. That sounds great. We dodged a major bullet. thank you to the lord and the voter voting members of the emmy academy for not voting for hannah einbender like i personally could not have sat through one of her speeches like i was gonna turn it off so thank you and then jean smart won which i was glad because like even though i didn't finish hacks like i root for hacks and jean smart like is a queen she won and i think i don't know what the statistic is but what is it like four or five seasons of hacks she's won every single year wow and now the show's over so it was like very much everybody gave her a standing ovation it was very like conclusive wow has that ever happened before no there were a couple of records that guy matthew reese yeah one he's in two different shows the diplomat and widow's bay and he got nominated for both as like lead actor and won both you mean he got nominated two different categories for two different shows yes but in two different characters yes yes yes okay okay he won twice like supporting actor lead actor in a comedy and lead actor in a drama yeah in a limited series
37:25Jackie Oshry:oh and then the weird thing was but they had a category of um
37:31Jackie Oshry:can you read me the categories which one did sally field win i'm on my way my birthday buddy
37:38Claudia Oshry:yeah she won lead actress in a limited or anthology series so that's in a like a mini series okay uh what she won for remarkably bright creatures was a movie okay when they included her in the nominations i'm like well she can't win she's not in a series are you positive but i watched it okay are you it was a two hour long movie you're sure about that i'm sure it was a movie okay and so i thought it was weird that she won and her speech she said something like low-key like hella disrespectful her first thing was that like she wanted to thank the woman who wrote the book for writing this amazing story about a man a woman and an octopus so shout out shelby ben pelt or whatever your name is i was like is that a joke but then the rest of her speech was so serious i was like i was i was actually really shook by that comment that's really crazy maybe it like stems from something maybe they have beef or it's like a joke or they have not i don't know maybe they have jokes but yeah that is weird to the naked eye and i thought it was weird that she won because you didn't like it no because it's a movie oh everything else nominated it was a series right claire danes beast and me carrie mulligan beef sarah pigeon sarah snook um the fanning sisters so like had a sister's night out they were both nominated for like separate tv shows margo's got many troubles and she's in um the sarah snook one what the hell was it called tell me all her fault yeah um and they were just like in the front row like having the time of their lives i don't think either of them won but they were just happy to be there that's so cute that's where i would have liked to have sat that's really cute they're obviously spending a lot of time together working on the nightingale as they motherfucking should get to work i think they were working on it like it's being worked on good um so yeah i guess pit won best drama for those noah weill won also like for his lead actor comedy widow's bay limited series dtfst louis truly have never heard of it um i thought it was the traders won and the traders returns this week for the nobody's series for nobody's and they won for competition series reality competition program reality yeah dancing with the stars tonight and then traders later on in the week and it's the one without celebrities i wonder if it's going to be so much better or so much worse i think it might be like if you're into games i think it will be better on the gaming end people don't know who each other are who's smart who's not uh the other show like has that inherent flaw that all the smart people get out first yeah it's so true it's annoying yeah so i think if into like actually the art of the game it will be better and yeah I'm down um okay that's your Emmys recap abridged Emmys recap yeah I liked it our next story is a little more tv news Michaela Matthews from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives announces her exit after hearing recent news that she said went against her morals so Michaela Matthews from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives posted yesterday that she will not be returning to the show she said I made my decision over a week ago after hearing some news that I will not be continuing the show at this moment.
40:37Claudia Oshry:In her post, she said that she was no longer comfortable being a part of the show, which she said was platforming behavior she didn't agree with, especially given her own experience growing up in a home with multiple forms of abuse. There's no amount of money worth going against my morals or changing the stance I've had since I first saw and heard the things that made me feel this strongly. She added, though she did not share further details. And for her personally, she said, continuing to directly profit from this behavior feels wrong and unethical. It feels like a disservice to the children, everyone's healing, and the millions of people watching.
41:06Supporting an adult doesn't mean constantly making excuses for toxic behavior while giving unconditional sympathy and grace with zero accountability or change. I was in that enabling cycle for years, and I'm not going to be a part of it again. Give yourself a pat on the back. it is first of all i was just not expecting let me let me rephrase this shocked me for a multitude of reasons it's hard to imagine that anyone would walk away from a show that's like literally just making you so much money printing money printing money to walk away because it conflicts directly with your core values is something that only somebody with an enormous amount of integrity does and to be honest like I never saw that for Michaela like maybe I just don't know her but like she wasn't giving me the vibe that she was like this extreme stand-up citizen like who would who would do something like this I was so shocked I was very impressed like her statement was there's so everyone's walks the walk condemns this condemns that but nobody would actually walk away and and hurt themselves right like she's the one who's gonna miss out continues to profit it you know inadvertently platform it by putting themselves on the show and it's a huge sign of like unseen maturity I don't know and someone who has a serious problem with what's going on which is a lot of people they might be like you know what I'm gonna go on the show and I'm gonna tell them like but to actually walk away to be like that mature and evolved to be like I don't want any part of this I don't want to be seen to support this in any way I don't care if it's the detriment of like my finances and my career like my morals my values are more important to me
42:53wow wow I just I I was shocked reading this genuinely and it also pretty much confirms that production will continue to film with Taylor and share her story and we knew that yeah um I wonder what she found out last week yes like what is the more stuff and I remember even when the production pause happened and then the video came out of the bar stools I remember the girls like Miranda and people were saying like there's so much more that you guys don't know like we had to pause because we found out all this stuff and like there's so much more there's so much more and I just feel like they're always saying there's so much more like can someone tell us because it's
43:29Claudia Oshry:really hard to adjudicate when we have is the more in the room with us 10 of the information it seems like it's so true Michaela and Taylor were like beefing on TikTok yeah um Michaela had posted some like snarky TikTok towards Taylor it was some responding to when Taylor said in the show like Michaela needs to be humbled and then Taylor posted like something in response about how like she commented on a creator's video who was like recapping the drama and she was like this is bullying at this point um i'm pretty sure she spelled it b-u-l-l-i-n-g which is the way they pronounce it bullying bullying they say so many things for real no and they say like understand like they always have an sh in place of an accent is very real yeah um and then i saw a comment like oh that mikayla won't associate with anyone who is associated with taylor she like cut off like miranda or something because she's associated with taylor and then taylor posted a video of like screenshots of Jace following Taylor being like, well, your man is still associates with me.
44:34And I think like, I'm sure Jace didn't know that he still followed Taylor. No. And I'm sorry. All of Taylor's TikToks recently are about her like finding the Lord and finding celibacy. And so it's like, if you really are wanting us to believe you're on this hilling journey, um, why, why the fuck are you like making TikToks about Michaela's man? You know yeah yeah and then i saw a really strange comment by taylor that like hasn't been dissected yet so i feel like it might not be what i think it's about but it was something about like i don't even want to repeat it uh because i think i might have my wires crossed i can't imagine she would say something like this like to jason mikaela speak it was like something about like thinking like using taylor in the bedroom or something i don't know i have to find she's disgusting i have to wait I think I if you give me a minute I don't want to like yes I will also say Jackie pointed out to me yesterday that Michaela is currently I think in Milan or somewhere with all the women they're clearly filming so I do think similar to how we found out Whitney was leaving but then we still got a season I think we will have one more season with Michaela and then that'll be that but they're sort of dropping like flies over there how do you find like drama information you know what i mean um you can google like salama mikaela oh well it probably happened on tiktok what exactly are you looking for a comment that taylor frankie paul left on an in a tiktok you know comment about jace yes gemini's trying to help me oh found it what is it so he had commented okay so she made to TikTok saying let me get this straight she cuts off anyone that supports me so who's gonna tell her oh I guess he can and it's the fact that Jace still follows her so Jace commented what the hell this is how I find out you don't follow me anymore that's funny and she said I'm so irrelevant you thought of me to seek advice in the bedroom I guess when they were going through their intimacy issues maybe he reached out to Taylor because she's like sort of like the advanced one in the group is that what happened I thought that would come I'm guessing I'm guessing so inappropriate it Taylor is a fucking crazy person like she really is she really is well that was easy to find you got to get on tiktok how did you do it how'd you find it I I searched Taylor Frankie Paul comment Jace and it came up the comment just shows up recap videos like drama channels drama channels yeah honestly thank god for the drama channels we kind of are a drama channel we are I always like I don't want to be at all but when they show those clips and on secret lives of people of course i know commentating on the drama i'm like surprised and glad that we're not on there well i know that we're not on there because we have been used and they have to reach out for rights for like they like you have to sign over the license and stuff so i knew we weren't gonna be on it and honestly like i didn't want to be a part of that when they use people's tiktok videos do they have to get the rights maybe not i have no idea because i feel like that's why they do tiktok yeah yeah i think so too yeah that's when they take our podcast they have to license it that's right they don't include no i don't want to be done i don't want to no i want to say just when i was starting to like michaela she disappears i respect this decision wholeheartedly like it's very rare to see someone walk the walk and talk the talk yeah and um i commend her she will be missed i saw macy people were commenting macy like are you also leaving she was like i'm you know filming now and thinking about it so i just feel like she's getting pressure to also like do the in like the integrity thing and she's like not doing it and i understand it it's like this terrible person is going to come in the way of me supporting for my family like no actually i could see that you can make the argument like you know what i'll have you know i
48:14Claudia Oshry:could be more effective if i'm on the show and i'm calling out the behavior and i'm raising the red flag and that is a good argument too but like just to walk away from it is so mature and and a big of a of a person and i just hope that in the last two years like she's made more money than she'll ever really need. And she can live comfortably and she'll have brand deals and she has tons of followers. Yeah, she'll still make a ton of money just from being like a high profile influencer. But yeah, you don't. And that's what we were saying about like that tier of girls who like never like really switched up their life too much, have enjoyed all the benefits.
48:46But do you see Michaela's house? Like she seriously lives in, I think the same house since season one. Like she doesn't seem to live beyond her means.
48:52Claudia Oshry:Yeah, so I think that's great for her. And it's a good place to be at because then you don't need the show and then you can leave on your own terms. And I also think that she's definitely on season six which is going to be like the bachelorette fallout because that was months ago and she maybe even filmed after that like she's gonna do the same way Whitney quit the show but we're still watching her we're going to be watching her for like at least another year before she's out I bet this just makes like Whitney feel good about her decision like everything that's happened because she made her decision before all of this and now it's like yeah who the hell wants to be a part of this it's so lowbrow no but she made her decision I thought after like the Bachelorette drama.
49:29No, because it was, her decision was all about like Broadway. It had nothing to do with the fact that like the show was in shambles.
49:35Claudia Oshry:No, but like right now in the show, Whitney's on Broadway and The Bachelorette is about to come out. Slash not. Did Whitney leave the show like three weeks into Broadway? That's a good question. I feel like, yeah, I feel like she left it when she started Broadway. But we're following her. She's on the season when she starts Broadway. That's. when did Whitney Leavitt leave Secret Lives? Announce Announce
50:06She announced her exit May 4th When was The Bachelorette before that? April
50:15Claudia Oshry:Was The Bachelorette before West Manobal? When did ABC cancel The Bachelorette? March March April March so yeah after I guess that makes the decision easier like oh this is becoming this used to be like a fun show and now it's seriously like trash yeah and of course you could say CPS of course you could say like production should you know take Taylor off the show and Michaela be on the show but it's like they're not going to do that the show needs Taylor's chaos in order to be a show and Michaela's never going to stoop to that level so like this is just it's wrong but it's the way it goes it's wrong but it's right it's wrong but it's the way it goes and i just think everyone should have immense respect for her i agree like seriously kudos to you yeah and i do want to know like the more stuff yeah everybody's gonna need to stop like pussy footing around the more yeah hopefully next season in what six months that season was too short we really needed like a part two it wasn't a season like that's the thing it's it was a part one I feel like we're in a mid-season finale I feel like that too don't drag it out like a month don't drag it out we might lose interest yeah I almost did by the time this show came out like no I'm sorry the second I started watching I said I'm so bad oh the second I started watching but like before I'm like I never really thought about it in a while so yeah I haven't thought about it in a while either just know okay our next story Macklemore has been dropped from the Ed Sheeran tour after his Free Palestine speech at a September 4th concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
51:55Claudia Oshry:So Ed Sheeran had a tour going on, a stadium tour, and he had tapped Macklemore to open for him. And on September 4th, Macklemore did just so and turned it into an opportunity. A political rally. To make it a rally for Palestine, Stating Free Palestine, wanting everyone in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank to know that they had not been forgotten. Of course, people were upset about this. There was like petitions for him to drop Macklemore, which he wouldn't have done because he chose him. And Macklemore has been this person for many years. The whole time he does like Jew face. He dresses up as a Jew.
52:35He does Hitler salutes. Like it's an intentional choice because it's not like he's this insanely popular in-demand artist who you want on your tour. Like, no, there is almost like that's who's opening for Ed Sheeran. No, he's certainly like a washed up has been artist who now just makes headlines because uses like political movements about like Israel and free Palestine, free Palestine, free Palestine.
52:57Claudia Oshry:So since that, I didn't really I hadn't been paying attention because I'm like, this is the world now. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, this stuff just happens. Things go. And I don't know what that means, but I can't think about it all the time and pay attention to it. And like, fuck it, Sharon, fuck Macklemore. I'm on my way. You know? Yeah. There are so many people involved in this, and I don't know if I have a lesser opinion of anyone more than I do Ed Sheeran. Well, so here's what happened, because there was a signature, a protest with a bunch of signatures, like drop him, but he would never.
53:26Claudia Oshry:But then Robert Kraft slammed his dick on the table and told Ed Sheeran that he could not bring his tour to Gillette Stadium if Macklemore was the opening artist, and he also said a bunch of other stadium owners are in agreement, and he cannot tour there. Now he is set to play like 10 more stadium shows in the US. I think Macklemore was going to open for him at eight of them. And they sort of forced Ed's hand and Ed dropped Macklemore from the show. And to be honest, like I said, I don't know if I think, I don't know, I don't know what I thought about Ed Sheeran before, but like I now hold such a low opinion of him because he couldn't make the decision to drop Macklemore based on his own values.
54:11and he also like almost hired him like the hiring seems so random to me because like i said this is
54:18Jackie Oshry:a huge stadium tour like sabrina carpenter opened for taylor swift you know what i mean the opener for a stadium tour is not a nobody yeah so to have chosen macklemore who seriously is just like and obviously like i dislike macklemore but this is just facts like completely unbiased like it's not successful or talented besides for one song from an actual over a decade ago it's such an intentional choice so you made that choice and then you couldn't you didn't do anything when there was backlash and it wasn't until your own bottom line might have been affected like I just feel like he's spineless yeah it's really crazy he it seems very committed to not taking a stance on right the issue which I have a lot of respect for it and I think you have every right to do it's complicated able to in all different like areas and conflicts like to have no opinion like seriously love that
55:05Claudia Oshry:for you stay out of it so to initially invite him on the tour when he is so outspoken and so polarizing and so hateful why would you do that if you really want to be that guy because now he's in this spot where like he has to drop him otherwise he's making a huge statement and he doesn't want to make a huge statement so why would you even what you thought you could like bait everyone and like you would get away with it and everyone would just have to mate to be uncomfortable and he macklemore could speak for you and and you just get to play all innocent what did you think was going to happen and obviously robert craft or you know his friends call him bob has been like getting heat now being like you know you're a billionaire using your and it's like this is my place of business i don't want uh these this going on they're like he's well within his rights to have done that like let me say this whole situation once again is terrible for the jews just like john galliano what's worse than it actually happening is that it being canceled fuels more rumors jews control the world right they obviously don't however like robert craft yeah control your stadium we happen to have a jew in a high place feel free to control your stadium because people don't know how to behave and so even if it fuels more you can't say it more can be worse right now really so say jews control the world because my uncle more had to be dropped from Ed Sheeran whatever yeah I just like I'm focused here on how big of a loser Ed Sheeran is and the funny thing is that I think sort of what's uniting the world is that people from both sides like hate Ed Sheeran now I love that and he had wanted to stay out of it the unification but like he refused to do anything pro or anti or just like sort of let this whole
56:47Jackie Oshry:things like happened to him and so yeah everyone hates him now and I think that's funny yeah it is funny and I'm sure he's having like a really bad week like PR wise especially because like being aside from the fact when you want to go to like Robert Kraft's stadium for the most part like being free Palestine like is good for business career you know because anyone who's like an outspoken Zionist just suffers and is isolated and look at pink I mean look at Gal Gadot look at the boy from stranger things it's been less than a week for pink and like literally i feel that the damage done to her reputation you see elizabeth banks yeah would tell everyone thanks is a loser elizabeth banks sat next to pink at the u.s open and i posted this carousel of photos of her at the u.s open and like literally cut pink out of every
57:36Claudia Oshry:single one yeah yeah so it doesn't pay to be pro-israel no it doesn't not at all it does to be free palestine look at mark ruffalo look at billy eilish look at all of these people hannah einbender um who just get to act like a victim yet they're thriving um so yeah that ed sheeran now has to be in this position it's kind of gorgeous yeah it is poetic yeah you literally did this to yourself nobody was asking to see macklemore open up for you there are so many like whiny male artists right now who would be perfect opening up for you like what about alex warren no i can't even stress how like opening acts obviously you know you think it's like a shitty gig opening up for ed sheeran in a stadium to opening up for taylor swift like it's not nothing so the people who would be a part of that lineup are not on the rise even they're risen like yeah and it was such a bad choice almost you know an intentional choice and so for it to have ended so poorly for ed sheeran i'm personally thrilled by that yeah so i'm gonna have a hard time on friday deciding between robert craft and mikaela matthews for queenie of the week honestly mikaela matthews no it's like easy to like like not that i'm not diminishing what robert craft did but like it's It's easy to whip your dick around like when you have a billion dollars.
59:00Like Michaela Matthews is just a girl like up against a network. Yeah, that's true. It's like David and Goliath. Yeah, but it's like you can talk your shit, but not here.
59:10Claudia Oshry:Yeah. Yeah. I was reading Macklemore's statement and like it's so crazy like the obsession that he has and he thinks he's so brave. I'm going to say these. I'm taking the stage to say these two words. It's like you are seriously simping for a terrorist organization. like you don't actually care and he also said october 7th was like justified resistance so like he's a piece of shit he does juke face he's an anti-semite he wants he wears a fake nose he wants to say i don't hate jews i just have criticism of the israeli government like we know what that means so why are you doing hail hitler if you don't hate jews you're a piece of garbage like seriously everyone who liked his post i unfollowed thank you honestly was no one one girl i didn't even know why he followed like i actually didn't yeah it couldn't be happening to a worse person for real and i'm loving it and i just want to say like this is not good for the jews honestly like it's just gonna know like more hate i went to look at macklemore's statement like
1:00:02Jackie Oshry:yesterday afternoon he had 6.7 million followers and then later that night i went back to like show someone someone something and he was at over 7 million and the the post has like what almost 4 million and now he's at 7.2 this is really really horrible i'm at someone else oh Sorry, just got to do that real quick. Oh, you found someone else? Yeah, who liked it? It's great. I was following too many people. What a crazy saga, honestly. Yeah. Oh, another one. Another one bites the dust. What was that the fourth story that you said would be? Those are four stories. Okay, okay. Taylor at the Game, the Emmys, Mikaela Matthews, Macklemore.
1:00:45My number one story is Mikaela Matthews. yeah but I just felt like I couldn't put that first given like how big of a night for tv it was
1:00:54Claudia Oshry:yeah yeah um okay our fifth and final story stage coach 2027 lineup Garth Brooks Riley Green and Zach Topp will be headlining I am so upset why
1:01:13Jackie Oshry:you're telling me kelly clarkson is performing before riley green and zach top like the disrespect is insane first of all not even to have a female headliner like okay sorry and i like riley green i actually listen to his music a headliner he is not now i don't know zach top and i feel like maybe i like missed out on the whatever so i can't judge whether or not he's inadequate but like i also feel that he's not and to like to seriously degrade kelly clarkson into opening up like for one of these artists like i feel it's disgusting well she's opening for garth brooks which i do
1:01:48Claudia Oshry:think in any order of things based on like the lines yeah but maybe she wanted to perform on a sunday like maybe because i do think if she wanted it's hard to imagine if they offered her the headlining she would say no i'd rather go sunday second to last i don't know and also like laska's late she's a mama i feel like this has more to do with her than it does with any sort of disrespect because she could also just easily not do stagecoach no i think it's i think it's like genuine disrespect i wanted to throw up when i saw this so here are like the big names on friday we have riley green as the headliner headliner before him hardy and brothers osborne and then throughout the day is also shabuzi stella lefty cameron whitcomb i'm just going based on the people that like i know and like yeah um cameron whitcomb is great that'll be great saturday zach top i don't know who that is i i mean like i've heard of him um he's definitely new it's it's really not headline material yeah and then before him is willie nelson and i think other people would make the argument that you're making for kelly about willie nelson that willie nelson should be that obviously the headline yeah and journey and i feel that so much of country music is like respecting the artists who came before you.
1:03:04And Willie Nelson opening up for Zach Topp like is not congruous with the values I know country music to have.
1:03:10Claudia Oshry:Yes, also Charlie Crockett, Stephen Wilson Jr. who's like literally nominated for everything. The Fray, Dasha, Ingrid Andres. Good luck to her. Hopefully it's not another national anthem. I like how like the genre is a little mixed. Yeah, it's less country and more like not pop. And then there's Sunday Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, Pitbull. I think I have to go for just like that hour and a half of Kelly and Pitbull.
1:03:39Jackie Oshry:And I love Pitbull. Like I hate this. I like it. There's like one mainstream country music festival. And now it's like getting co-opted. And I'm actually not even mad at like Pitbull because to be honest, the country roster is really not doing it for me either. So yeah, like let's supplement with Pitbull.
1:04:00Claudia Oshry:It feels like the big dogs like didn't want to do it, you know, because if Luke or Morgan wanted one of these spots, it would be theirs. I feel like they're sort of supplementing like maybe it's not an amazing like high paying desirable gig.
1:04:14Jackie Oshry:I think it is like I really do. I think also it's something that a lot of artists want just like for the prestige. but yeah Luke Morgan even Zach Bryan like all the bigs the ones who play stadiums and and arenas um Casey Musgraves like no like all missing from Ella Blake Shelton Ella yeah Lainey Wilson like where is everyone I don't know it seems like Chris Stapleton it's not desirable Jason Aldean
1:04:43Claudia Oshry:I'm going with that yeah and then late night we have Florida Georgia Line Sean Paul Flo Rida oh i saw flutter georgia line um a couple of days ago teasing this they like made this video and they're really trying to recapture the magic of whenever they were and i'm so down but like i don't know if you saw how committed they are there's two the democrat and the republican right that's how i know them i can never remember their names brian and tyler back in the day the democrat had like that long hair he had like a bob he grew it out okay that's commitment commitment to like they're trying to literally replicate oh he grew his short hair back to his lob because then he had his solo career right he had like a buzz cut i don't even recognize he brought the lob back is what you mean he has the law back and he had a buzz cut like normal boy hair for years like he's been off the lob for the better half of a decade but now the florida george line is trying to recreate they're taking a very copy paste approach even the hair yeah but is it like are they going the jonas brothers backstreet boys route of like nostalgia like let's create those good old days of cruise it wasn't giving nostalgia it was just giving like truly picking up or like you are trying to compete with ella langley and morgan wallen and you think because you were the morgan wallen of the 2010s so are you are you trying to like for those of us who were there like cater to us or are you trying to get to top of the charts again i guess we'll see like if they play a lot of new music or if they just go down memory lane i'm not sure but i thought the hair was very telling they could be the jonas brothers of country music yeah it's hard to imagine like where they would be if they hadn't broken up because i do think like they were very much on track to be like even more famous than morgan wallen yeah because they really transcended genres and morgan is so so successful but really within country i mean that's also like sam hunt too i know you hate him but like he was also i agree with you number one like viral guy of country music just all over loved him because he was like so handsome and dan and shay tequila dan and shay tequila yeah it's hard to be in a duo dan and shay in florida georgia should go on a joint tour that's like a one thousand brothers hillary duff nostalgia country tour love that for like the people like how we say nostalgia for something that was 10 years yeah nobody and for people like us i mean like millennials who like aren't really consuming that much new music like a little bit sure but like we just want to hear our favorite songs and like rock out 100 i just want to rock out and that's all we've ever wanted it's true i've been consistent in that know that know that that's that's all on that Well, those are the fast five stories.

1:13:03Claudia Oshry:I'm ready, first order.
1:13:05Jackie Oshry:Okay. Our first one is I actually think like a very real thing for a lot of people going on right now, which is why I chose it. Okay. Hi, Swirlies. I'm so happy you're back. my friend and i got dinner the other night and the lindsey clancy trial got brought up she was very pro lindsey she thinks that lindsey's a victim and basically like god's gift to this earth no i didn't say that no no no but that's how this girl interpreted it okay that like she's you know going through something that so many women go through and like you know i like yeah right i'm so firmly against this she talked down to me because she works in ob g in an ob gyn office and i do not and i just left our dinner feeling really gross i saw her again this past weekend due to a mutual group of friends being in town and I asked to not discuss it with her she brought it up and I truly am not sure how I can maintain being friends with someone who supports a literal psychopath do I just blow it off or can I be done with being her friend because I don't like her anyways minus that there's a lot of history there well you don't like her anyways so like don't be friends with someone that you don't like now let's say yes and I actually also think um I don't know if you saw like there was like a couple of news story like a man leaves his wife for her take on Lindsay Clancy.
1:14:12Like I actually think more often than not, I'm not the type of person who believes that like people with different political differences can't be friends or even married. Although I do think that's very complicated. Like I don't like to be that type of person. Like I do think that human beings can and should work through most things. Now I have experienced this too, where it's like, I actually find myself like shifting opinions of what I think of people based on their Lindsay Clancy take, like genuinely. And I can't help it. I think it's such a layered issue and it's so it's so dark that like yeah I can't help myself but I I I actually think that you should not be friends with this girl yeah and I think maybe she her friend who agrees with her will be telling the same thing about you like I actually think like if you disagree with somebody on this like fundamentally it really is not a match friendship or otherwise yeah I think
1:15:02Claudia Oshry:that there are a couple issues not every issue but there are a couple things at least for me that are like a true test if you don't agree with someone on that are a true test of like if we could see eye to eye about most things right um and for me this would be one of them if I had a friend who you know who very much very strongly to the point that she couldn't not talk about it because you asked her like the right thing to do is be like let's not talk about it we disagree and right it's getting messy but the fact that you said that and she still is talking about it so if I take, wrong take, evil take.
1:15:40Claudia Oshry:That's it for me. I'm out. Yeah. I think that, um, this is an exceptional circumstance because I really don't, I think a lot of people automatically are like, oh, well you can't be friends with that person. They're hateful. It's like, well, no, they just have a different opinion than you.
1:15:54Jackie Oshry:Like calm down. I think that this is one of a few issues that at least for me personally, and this is not universal, but I think if you're feeling like you can't be friends with this person, like you probably are my type of person. Like I, I think especially if you sound like you have reasons to get rid of her anyway outside of this I'm okay I'm okay with this friendship ending yeah and if it's so like core to her personality like and some people like sometimes an issue or a political thing happens and they just make it their personality and that's it and I know I can't that's also just annoying and that's also just annoying so like if that's who you are now not my kind of person are you following juror 11 the lone rural juror like and all the information that's coming out about him what's all the information so one of the jurors went on gail king cbs i saw this and gail was like asking a lot of questions about like the socioeconomic backgrounds the racial backgrounds how many men how many women how many black how many white and they eventually like the woman wasn't offering up the information until gail like sort of figured it out herself and she said there was only one person of color and it was a man.
1:17:00Jackie Oshry:And Gail was like, wait, is the holdout juror a person of color? And the female juror was like, yes. And Gail said she needed to sit with that. And that sort of like took the internet by storm. I guess like people weren't expecting that. Not that it makes a difference. And then this local NBC station in Boston, like figure, and by the way, I had said last week, and I do want to make a correction, that a picture of the lone juror got leaked. The picture I saw was of a white man. So obviously like that leak was fake. People had not figured out who it was. NBC this honestly the juror should sue NBC his identity has not been revealed yet but they like combed through court documents and found that he has a criminal record he like owes like a bunch of back rent and then there was like a um he was like the police got called on him for like a domestic violence dispute with his wife who's now his ex-wife and so like now like obviously we have to make the lone juror into like they like they hate him and he's a criminal um but all this information is getting leaked about him and it's like why would anyone want to be a juror like literally ever well you have to be and nobody no i'm sorry nobody actually wants to be it's the funny thing like no but like if not you're not the one thing that being a juror had for you was like you would maintain your privacy right and it's like and that was something i feel that everybody really respected unless the person wanted to go on tv and there have been a bunch of the women going on tv i like i i think it's so crazy that like all this information about the guy even though his name and identity have not been revealed all this like sort of leading details and information about him have been like leaked and they're being reported like everywhere yeah you mean including his race well yes his race but i guess it's like on the other juror to share i don't know i don't
1:18:39Claudia Oshry:know if she did anything wrong i don't think she did anything wrong and i think those are like fair questions and honestly maybe it's not fair in the grand scheme of things but given that this case has garnered so much national attention like i actually i i think that fact is sort of like put people in a tailspin um yes they didn't know like gail king said you need to sit with that yeah yeah i think i also heard he might be gay i don't know if that's true but like people are just like obsessed with like these facts they said he was an older gentleman um yeah i think that i i maybe it's wrong really i think it's interesting um yeah i do too but i like feel bad like unless you're a lot of them you know left the courthouse and called up tmz like a lot of them want this and I can imagine not wanting to and when we said like ugly this person obviously could go and tell their story or sell their story or whatever but like if it is like an older person they're probably not interested they just sat on the jury and they came up with the decision that they thought was best and because maybe it's like an older person they couldn't really be swayed by what people were telling them and all these like women yelling at him like well I just think it's funny that like now we know he has like a allegation of domestic violence against him like everybody's so aghast but like Lindsay Clancy literally strangles her three kids.
1:19:53Like what are we talking about? Where's the gassedness? And also all of that would have come up in jury selection, right? You have to. Well, so that's also a discussion is like a lot. I think if you have a criminal record, sometimes you're not allowed to be on a jury. So I don't know how that information. Well, they might, they might.
1:20:08Claudia Oshry:I think you have to go to jury duty. You have to try and serve. That's everybody's like civic duty. But if you have a criminal record and you say that, and then you'll be excused because they don't want that. But I'm sure he disclosed that information and he was still chosen. right and also they can look up that information too like truly a thankless job i would never want to be on a jury like for real i'm gonna say next like this has cured me sometimes i'm like you know what i could do it this i feel has really cured me i'm just gonna go in like next time i call for jury duty and say the most insane shit ever you don't really have to because you're um the public nature of my job the the facts of your life being like a young working mother like i the last time i jury duty i was like i was like you know what like i guess i'm i could be a juror i mean we always say i'd be a really good juror we always say that so i was like going along and then i'm like i'm sorry like i i can't actually miss work and i have like i think i have one child that like i actually you're like a primary caretaker yeah like i actually can and you actually like a lot of times if you if you take care of like an elderly yeah relative you can't yeah no 100 100%.
1:21:14If you're like the provider and you have to go to work, there are people who actually can't give in the facts of their life. The requirements of the job too. So for you, you don't even have to start saying crazy stuff. Well, I'll still say it. Sure. You are literally, you would never. Maybe I'll put something on my file to say, never let this bitch in here again. You would literally never. I know you. No, I would never. You're totally shy. I am. You would be so shy at jury duty. I'd end up being the foreman. that's where my shyness comes out jury duty I can't even be like I can't I have to wait for them to tell me I can't
1:21:51Jackie Oshry:yeah alright next up hey Jackson Claude I never thought I'd have an interesting enough problem to send in but here we are I'm 23 years old and I live in New York City I'm currently a grad student I'm a nanny for an affluent family I am with the family minimum three nights a week it's two girls the parents are both married and they both work dad works from home so I typically see him around the apartment and he's almost always wearing air pods the parents are both married like to each other hmm the parents are both married and work i'm gonna assume they're divorced married to each other okay like it's just so weird to say it the dad works from home i typically see him around the apartment he's almost always wearing airpods and very locked into his computer neither one of us have ever paid much attention to each other like most girls my age in new york i am on hinge and i got home from work the other day and was mindlessly scrolling and I saw that the dad had liked my profile.
1:22:39Jackie Oshry:I was shook. I went to work the next day and acted like nothing happened. I've not said a word since, but I don't know what to do. Do I tell the mom her husband is cheating on her unhinged? Do I confront the dad? Do I leave it alone, act like it never happened because I don't know what agreements they might have? I'm a broke student who really can't afford to lose her job and wants to do the right thing. I'm sick. Seriously, not my circus, not my monkeys. Sounds like you have a great gig for this rich family. And unless he makes an advance, like very Paul Giamatti in the Nanny Diaries, unless it goes any further just pretend like you can safely ignore this yeah pretend like you didn't see it ignore until you could be like all moral and tell the wife but then it's like you're gonna lose your job no don't get involved i yeah not your circle not your problem like um that's unfortunate it will probably like escalate in some way he will probably make an advance and you will have to leave if he like grabs yeah then you have to yeah you have to leave um but and i guess maybe it's like bad advice to tell you to like wait around and like until that happens but it also could not and i just want to say a lot of times people are catfishes on hinge it is possible like i've heard that happening a lot happens to be the man that she lives with yeah and i guess like your phones obviously know that you're like in close proximity with one another great match no it's 100 him that's i take back the catfish thing that's disgusting uh so ignore until you can't but that'll probably be in a couple days from now in the words of ashley dupree like men are pigs they all cheat yeah that was she was crazy but it's like even if he was like a single dad or whatever for and she was like still beyond inappropriate that would be worse actually it's like it's as much about the cheating nature as it is about like the power dynamic and the fact that you guys are in the same house and that he would do something like that like what no it's like a boss a sicko but it's worse than a boss because the job is so intimate of course in the home like it's terrible our third and final hey swirlies love you guys i have a relationship question and i need to know if i'm in the wrong i'm getting married later this year and once we are married my fiance wants to combine all of our bank accounts i told him i wanted each of us to keep one separate one and just put like 50 to 100 a month in it nothing crazy for small gifts for each other in case of an emergency or something messy were to happen between us he's looking at it like i don't trust him and i'm not fully committed what's the right thing i just don't think i'm sorry i don't want to just give in because i feel really strongly about this but he's hurt and he's acting like i think he's going to run away with all of our money love you both hope you enjoyed your summer break but i'm so glad you're back so first of all here's the thing you made a mistake in what in telling him i need to know everyone's financial situation here i i don't know i feel like they they seem like two like young professionals on the same level because if he had like a lot of money she would have said that like and i feel
1:25:19Claudia Oshry:like the what he's saying to you and the way he's acting like is like someone that you can't financially trust i don't know why but like him being like good and you trust me like i that's interesting I and I also think that you should have your own account for like so many reasons both serious and benign but like you should be able to do what you want when you want and not have to answer especially if you are working and and same for him so like I like the idea of separate and joint personally I think that's a nice thing to have um and I think that his especially if you're talking about 50 to 100 a month into a personal account like I don't know why that would upset him yeah I didn't see this so much as a red flag but I guess if you wanted to like look in like him being controlling over your money sure i i saw it more it was like an
1:26:02Jackie Oshry:immaturity thing it's like but we're getting married we share everything i just think every woman should have a separate bank account that honestly her husband doesn't know about i think you never should have told him what the fuck does he need his own bank account for he doesn't you do he doesn't make your own account on the side and it's called a canipple where you like you know you just stow away money for a rainy day just in case you should never like your husband should not know all that's how you can end up in financial abuse which is a real form of abuse like Yeah. You need a little account.
1:26:27If you ever needed anything, you need to run, you need to go. You have a little something on the side, even if it's a box of cash under your mattress.
1:26:34Claudia Oshry:But also like taking away those extreme circumstances just for like your daily operating, like you want to have freedom. You don't want to have to explain everything. As long as you are working, that is your money. And you're giving him the option to do the same thing as you. Well, and I think you're wrong for that, because I think we always talk about how like men and women are different and there are situations where men can do something and a woman can't and a woman can do something and i don't think that a man can have his own bank account honestly i think that's weird and shady and like it never leads to good things and i think a woman like it is integral to her survival that she has one yeah so i think that you should tell him that he's right he should put all of his money into the joint and that you're right and you'll keep some out yeah i would say i wouldn't even tell him yeah agreed like just drop it and like make your own account on the side go to like some but i just think apple go to a different totally different bank like richwood savings or whatever his insistence regarding like what amounts to maximum a hundred dollars a month is strange well yes i i think if we wanted to look deeper into that like maybe we could find fault and like potentially you know controlling of the finances like is a little bit of a red flag yeah i wasn't even thinking controlling but just like not i don't know like just that seems like a very normal situation to have like a small personal account and a joint account so what is his expectation for like marriage if you can't have any independence i also don't think that there is a standard way to do finances as i think some people keep everything in the modern world i agree yeah it's not it's not a one-size-fits-all I think that people just do what works with them for them.
1:28:19Completely agree. But I do think like if I had to prescribe like what I think a healthy situation is for, you know, two working people. Young people. And also, but then it's also like if the woman's not working with them, that's a separate issue that has to be dealt with. But to have like personal accounts and a joint account, I think is healthy. Yeah, I think so too. I don't think that's like a bad option, but it's not what it used to be. No, but and how did it used to be? Like one account because I think that there was like a family account that the women really knew nothing about, but technically had access to.
1:28:51And I think also men mostly had separate accounts, too, for like, you know, philandering and things of that nature. And like the family account was like for groceries. I was just watching Mad Men and they got a bank as a client and they were offering this thing called like executive accounts, which is basically just for men to have their own separate accounts that women can't access to, you know, buy liquor and prostitutes. yeah things of that nature good no also not good um well that's been your toasters thank you to everyone who wrote in that's our weekly advice segment if you ever want to write in you can send us an email to your toasters at gmail.com or head over to our website the toast podcast
