The fast five things you need to know. We'll start your day off swirly. It's the toast. I sound amazing. Welcome back to the toast and happy Monday. Spooky. You know, spooky. We're back. Spooky, we're back. I had such a weird dream. Like, I've actually haven't felt normal since. And like, it was like an embarrassing dream. Last night? Yeah. So Ben gave me two tickets to Wicked and I invited Gary Gennetti. Like, obviously. And I remember it was at 730 and Ben was also getting home from a work trip.
0:45Jackie Oshry:So I was like cleaning the house, like getting ready for Ben to arrive until I realized like I got a text from Gary. And for some reason I was like texting on an iPod Nano. And he was like, are you coming? I'm here. And I literally stood up Gary Gennetti and I felt so bad. And I was like, oh, I'll come. And he's like, no, forget it. And he just left, as he should. It was terrible. And so I woke up with such a pit. Like, why was I dreaming of Gary Gianetti?
1:04Claudia Oshry:We were just talking about him. Like a week ago? Yeah, but he was just in your mind. And he's not like somebody who's in my mind a lot. He was on your mind.
1:13Jackie Oshry:Ugh, I felt so bad.
1:14Claudia Oshry:What's worse than that? No, what's better than waking up and none of it happened? Yeah, of course. I had to like re-acclimate myself. Like, not only was it a dream, but like, I never even ended up inviting Gary. Sometimes I'm in a dream and I'm not enjoying my experience. And I realize in my dream that it's a dream. You self-actualize? In my dream, I realized it's a dream and I'm like, oh, who cares? And you know what? Much like Susan Boyle, we dreamed a dream. We did. Of time gone by. And I guess we're sharing our dreams now.
1:39Jackie Oshry:That's what we do in this podcast. We share our hopes and our dreams. We do, but we don't share our sleep dreams. Well, I thought that one was like culturally relevant that I could bring it up. I stand by that like that was a good podcast conversation.
1:49Claudia Oshry:I know, but when you bring up your dreams in podcasts, in life, to your friends, your family, like. Don't. You better.
1:56Jackie Oshry:No, no, don't. Eat with that. But I think that mine just sort of applies here. Okay. Because like it's Monday and it's like, ugh, you know? Well, yes. Very ugh of a Monday. We had a very busy weekend. We watched the Oscars. We went to a party. We did. Yeah, we danced. My aura ring was like, are you dancing?
2:15Claudia Oshry:It was a weekend for me where I did not get out of my jamas. And it still applies because we went to a pajama party. Yeah, okay, so I went out centering it. I went out in my jamas and my robe and I did not leave my jamas all weekend.
2:27Jackie Oshry:Now, I know it sounds crazy that we went to a party because we like literally just had babies. But thankfully, Erica, whose party it was, like decided to throw a birthday where the theme was pajamas. Pajamas and food. The whole theme was like Wonderland, Dreamland, and everybody wore pajamas. And like cozy vibes.
2:41Claudia Oshry:But like dancing. And amazing music. Dancing whilst being cozy. Amazing food, cozy vibes, and great music because her body craves pit bull.
2:48Jackie Oshry:And I'm not going to lie. When I got the invitation, I'm like, that's weird. Like I hadn't ever thought I'd never been to a party where like the theme and I wasn't sure how it was going to go off. And let me tell you, it went off without a hitch. I'll be copying. When you got the invitation, you said that's not a theme. Is that what you said? Yeah. And I said she would have been better off if she did famous couples throughout history. So Ben and I could go as Romeo and Juliet, obviously.
3:07Claudia Oshry:What did we just say is famous couples throughout history?
3:12Claudia Oshry:Love story.
3:14Jackie Oshry:Yes.
3:15Claudia Oshry:The show Love Story is alternately titled famous couples throughout history.
3:19Jackie Oshry:No, not even the whole series that he's producing, where he's going to be highlighting famous couples throughout history. Should we call that? And they obviously need Drew Barrymore to play one of them.
3:30Claudia Oshry:For sure. Elizabeth Taylor. Sure. It works. Or like Cleopatra. It works. Yeah. I think Elizabeth Taylor played Cleopatra.
3:38Jackie Oshry:I think that's why I associate the two. You know, they say that Elizabeth Taylor is going to be Taylor Swift's next single from Tiloas. And I feel like she definitely shouldn't do that. Please no. Please no. I also feel like with Opalite and the fate of Ophelia, like that was a lot of commercial success and probably the most commercial success she's going to have with this album, which like now in hindsight, like I can speak and sort of understand that like it wasn't that good. So I feel like she should just take the W. You know, she got a couple of TikTok dances, a couple of radio hits, and I think she should.
4:11Claudia Oshry:I think she could squeeze one more out. And I do think it could be a song that's not like Life of a Showgirl with Sabrina. Like it could be wood. Oh yeah Actually the album's kind of good I guess like it could be Honey just cause like I don't like it And that's what she loves for her singles Like Bejeweled and Antihero
4:29Jackie Oshry:Antihero So yeah Taylor
4:30Claudia Oshry:Let's talk about Antihero
4:32Jackie Oshry:Taylor often has this like terrible track record Of choosing the worst songs from her She will write like actual masterpieces Of albums and then put like one bad song on it And decide to make that song the radio hit The single that everybody knows And that's why people think like Taylor Swift's music is good because they think we are never getting back together is like the best that she can do.
4:49Claudia Oshry:Or they just think that like she doesn't have that many hits and it's like the hits aren't the hits.
4:53Jackie Oshry:We're like, do you know Peter? No, you don't know Peter.
4:56Claudia Oshry:No.
4:57Jackie Oshry:You know, hey, Steven. No, you don't because it wasn't a single. That's on you. A couple of things. One, we kind of have a major announcement. We do. Yeah. So like as I say, you probably read about it like all over the trades because we're all over the trades. We're like going to be at an event. Like we're doing an event. Dear Media IRL, which was an annual Dear Media event, is happening in New York this year. And yeah, we're going. It's going to be a live podcast. It's going to be very turnt, as the kids say.
5:22Claudia Oshry:And would you define turnt in this capacity?
5:24Jackie Oshry:I just want to say, I need everyone in the comments to hop off my fucking dick. I'm like, Claudia's using the word turnt wrong. Well, no, no, you're understanding it wrong because I've been saying it for years. Turnt means like turnt up. This one is turnt up. We're getting turnt, like turnt up. Sometimes when I say turnt, and it's like use context clues. Do I have to spell everything out? One word can have more than one meaning.
5:45Claudia Oshry:Of course.
5:47Jackie Oshry:Correct. When I say something turned in like a negative, it's like, oh, it's turned. Like it's like messy and weird and like not good. Yeah. But in this case.
5:56Claudia Oshry:So just like use context clues and stuff. I really don't feel like I need to explain. It'll be turned in the sense that we're turning up at Dear Media IRL in New York City on May 16th at Webster Hall.
6:03Jackie Oshry:And they're not billing it as like a sort of WWE event, but the good guys are going to be in attendance. So we're all going to be on stage together. There are a lot of other podcasters, but like specifically the good guys. Um, there, it might get physical. That's what I'll say.
6:16Claudia Oshry:And we would ask to like program our show and their show and like do some stuff together. And like, perhaps we just get in the ring and we duke it out.
6:22Jackie Oshry:I'm down. Like I obviously take on Josh and you take on Ben.
6:25Claudia Oshry:Oh, of course. I can't get on Ben.
6:26Jackie Oshry:Of course. You know, marital privilege. We put each other on our shoulders. Yeah. We play chicken. Fight to the death. Tickets are available. Go to dearmedia.com slash events for tickets. More information. It's happening in New York City. Like Jackie said, at Webster Hall. It's a dear media by night. So it's like a really fun night with lots of comedy, cocktails, podcasts. And of course, chaos, or as the kids say, turnt. And when someone's really turnt, they are the president of Ternesia, as Brian Kelly would say. And if we're looking for the proper definition, bark up Brian Kelly Street, because he invented the word.
6:58Jackie Oshry:If you're in the area or you need an excuse to get away, girls trip to the city. Tickets are on sale today at DearMedia.com slash events. Events, events, I want to go to events and invite me to your events. Speaking of events, last night was a big one.
7:11Claudia Oshry:Yeah, the Oscars. We will recap in the stories. And beyond that, you know what? I have to give myself a pat on the back. I had sick. My kids were sick this weekend. And I did not turn on the screen for them. For them. But for you? Oh, yeah. For me, I watched the Oscars when they went to bed last night. But like, I'm sorry, getting through a sick weekend with children. Like, we didn't leave the house. We were in our dramas. And I did not put on the TV. Good for you. That's like a milestone even for me. We always do TV when they're sick. But then it's like, well, then they'll always want to be sick.
7:38Claudia Oshry:Right, right. And they still, their spirits were high. They wanted to play. So I was like, okay, we're going to play this weekend out. We tore the house upside down. My nightmare. Upside down. Like seriously, that scene in the cat in the hat before he brings in his machine to clean it up. Yeah. That was my house this weekend. I need that machine. Yeah, you do. You need thing one and thing two. Yeah. Oh, I did also not turn on the screen for my child, but for myself quite a bit.

8:06Jackie Oshry:Like nap time, night time. I made a lot of progress in Secret Lives and Mormon Wives. And on Friday night when we were like going to watch something, Ben was like, let's watch a movie. I'm like, sorry, I have to watch Secret Lives and Mormon Wives. And he was putting up like such a temper tantrum about it. Let me tell you, if I started watching without him, he would be so mad. Nobody has. And I'm sure if you want to hear it in The Good Guys in two weeks, he'll tell you all he thinks about the first five episodes of Secret Lives and Mormon Wives. Yeah, you can find out in a month. He's obsessed and like he hates Jordan.
8:31Jackie Oshry:And now he's using it as like a slur. Like he put on a shirt and he was like, do I look like Jordan? Like, he's hate. Oh, my God. It's actually such a good season, but I feel like it's a bad season for Taylor Frankie Paul. Like, I feel like you're going to struggle watching it because you really champion her.
8:48Claudia Oshry:Episode three. I started last night, but I can, you know, see what's happening here. And yes, I just don't understand how she's like heartbroken over Dakota. When I thought we left it in last season with the betrayal of sleeping with your mom's friend. But I just feel like the feeling of like being so heartbroken over a human being who has let you down so many times that like you just like love him. Like it's just very like middle school to me. So that's what Miranda.
9:15Jackie Oshry:Like high school. Miranda was saying like there's something actually deeply broken. Yeah. Within Taylor. And so her going on The Bachelor like they're talking about The Bachelor a lot. Obviously it's all synergetic. They're talking about Dancing with the Stars The Bachelor. And Bachelor premieres tomorrow right? Today. Today right? I do not have high hopes. Like it's she is not I don't maybe by the end of the season I'll see. But I think it actually gets worse because I think she also sleeps with Dakota the night before the bachelor. Like this is not a serious person. I actually saw people like a discourse on TikTok of people saying if they were going to tap someone from Secret Lives to do the bachelorette, it should have been Miranda.
9:49Jackie Oshry:Now, Miranda's kind of boring and like gives a little bit of nothing, but she is very like stable. And I think that if she were to like start dating, I don't know if she dates, it would be in a more serious way, but she's not like a star.
10:02Claudia Oshry:No, I was actually thinking she's like, she's just a character that she's the only person that they've really added. And she doesn't like add that much to the show, but she's like another body and she's someone to film with. And she has the connection.
10:12Jackie Oshry:Scandal. She was like a big part.
10:13Claudia Oshry:And she like chase is now part of dad talk. So like they're necessary, but like, I don't know that she could carry, but is she just the only other single one? I guess. I mean,
10:21Jackie Oshry:I was currently single in real life, but in the show when they were casting she was with mason um yeah also like taylor i'm just got
10:28Claudia Oshry:to the part where she like had her breast augmentation three days before the reunion like literally just like walked in i thought she was having a consultation and then she's like on the operating table and crying when she woke up and i understood her crying like yeah that's like where dakota should be by her side or the person that she loves and like to go through that alone and then literally have to get up in two days and go to work in a dress that you don't own like borrowing from jesse like that was crazy and i remember at the reunion her dress was like It didn't fit her. And usually, like, I feel like at the reunion, especially Housewives, they bring like three looks.
10:58Claudia Oshry:Everyone has to be cohesive. Like, it's a very, like. Hulu hasn't mastered the art of the reunion in many ways. And they keep talking about the reunion. And I said this last season. I'm going to say it again. It is too much breaking of the fourth wall. Too much talking about the show and not enough living off the show.
11:14Jackie Oshry:I actually don't agree because I'm a little bit further along than you. and my complaint is that we're five episodes in and we're literally just like a couple of days after the reunion. Like move on. And I know a lot happened with Demi and stuff, but like the whole first half of the season is about the reunion.
11:30Claudia Oshry:Yeah, and it wasn't even a reunion. It was a Duncan refresher commercial. And they kept bringing up, there was more Duncan in the season. And I officially do not care about Demi and Marciano and Jen and what Jen said about Demi and Marciano. And I don't care. I don't care what happened. I don't even care if they have a baby together. Like I don't care. Yeah. Do we have a Salam House story?
11:52Jackie Oshry:We don't. We were going to recap it at the end. Okay. So yeah, just in case anyone hasn't watched, we'll pause here. Okay. And we'll just catch up at the end, even though that was like pretty much. No,
11:59Claudia Oshry:but we've, I've watched it like a normal, not podcaster's pace. Like, you know, some podcasters, I was talking when Natalie Viall was here. Well, they do the most. And they watch everything. And she said that sometimes they have to like watch it on like one, two speed to like get the information.
12:15Jackie Oshry:I do wonder how like podcasters like the next morning will be like season recap of Salama. No, I know.
12:22Claudia Oshry:Or people who like write up articles about the season. They get screeners in advance. Oh, they get screeners. But seriously, the day, the hour after Salama premiered, they're like Taylor and Dakota slept together. Yeah, it's annoying. That hasn't even happened yet. It's annoying. Me neither. It is annoying. But I guess, you know, it's hard work. Someone's got to do it.
12:39Jackie Oshry:And then the stories, we've got Oscar recap. What else happened this weekend?
12:43Claudia Oshry:It's probably like Oscars adjacent news, people talking, making news. So let's get into our first story in the Fast Five Stories that you do need to know.
12:54Jackie Oshry:And the Fast Five Stories that you need to know are brought to you by Vivrell. So if you don't know Vivrell yet, it's a members only club where you can borrow designer bags, jewelry, watches, even diamonds. So it's basically a rotating dream closet that you don't have to commit to. So if you are really interested in acquiring lots of designer bags, but you are limited by budget, by space, by sheer will, highly recommend joining Vivrell. It is a perfect way to be a little bit smarter with our investments when it comes to designer bags. So the best part about Vivrell is that they have no return dates.
13:21Jackie Oshry:You can keep a piece as long as you want. You can swap. This one that I have yet to return that I love. Oh, that's the other thing. That's a Goyard bag. Like you would think maybe this sounds a little too good to be true. They probably don't have like really good bags. They have Hermes. They have the best bag. Chanel. Every bag. Everything. The best part, no return dates. So you can swap once you're ready or you can hang on to it. If you fall in love with something, you can also buy it from them directly. and you're going to get it for way less than anywhere else. The tier that we have, and that's the most popular, is the Classique tier.
13:46Jackie Oshry:It's$139 a month, which is really an insane value, like a Chanel bag for$139. They're constantly refreshing the inventory, so they add millions of dollars of new pieces every week. Always feels like you're walking into a designer boutique. So they've got Prada, Fendi, Saint Laurent, Dior, all the brands you drool over. And a lot of times I borrowed bags from Vivrelle that I wanted to buy, and I tried it on, and I really liked it. But I'm glad I didn't buy it because it was a little trendy, or I just didn't need another bag. So it's just a really smart way to shop. And our code toast will get you your first month of membership totally free.
14:16Jackie Oshry:So go to Vivrell.com, apply for a membership using our referral code toast for your first month of membership free. That code will also allow you to skip the wait list. V-I-V-R-E-L-L-E.com, code toast for your first month free. Today's episode is also brought to you by Rocket Money. Lots of fiscal responsibility happening on today's show. And that's my influence. And I'm proud to be a spokeswoman for Rocket Money, one of my favorite personal financing apps. So it's a personal finance app that helps you find and cancel your unwanted subscription, monitors your spending, helps lower your bills so you can grow your savings.
14:45Jackie Oshry:So with Rocket Money, you have the ability to track your subscriptions, cancel them within the app just with a few taps, saving you time and avoiding unnecessary charges. Actually, Rocket Money just found an app. Do you know I was paying for Photoshop? Me? Photoshop? Never. It's like$240 a year. Got it. Canceled. As parents, it might be keeping you up at night that your kids are the first generation, sorry, our kids, are the first generation growing up on ultra-processed foods.
17:31Jackie Oshry:What are the long-term effects? We're really only beginning to understand them. So I know a lot of parents are being very proactive in what they give their kids and Haya is a great option. That's exactly why it exists. To give parents a real solution and a market flooded with kids' vitamins that prioritize candy-like appeal over actual nutrition. So some children's vitamins that are on the market today contain up to seven grams of sugar per serving. They're stuffed with artificial dyes, additives, petroleum-based dyes. Well, Haya took the total opposite approach. Zero sugar, zero gummy additives, just clean nutrition.
17:58Jackie Oshry:And the crazy thing is that kids actually love them. They love the taste. They love the experience, the bottle. It's like very pardy, very kid friendly. And it makes it like a fun activity. Our niece is obsessed. Like it's such a fun thing to do. So they worked alongside pediatricians to formulate something to help fill those specific nutritional gaps in modern kids diets. So it's a super powered chewable vitamin, packs a blend of 12 organic fruits and veggies, plus 15 essential vitamins and minerals into every dose. They've got vitamin D, B12, C, zinc, folate, everything for brain function, mood regulation, concentration.
18:28Jackie Oshry:And the formula is the ingredients are clean, non-GMO, vegan, dairy-free, allergy-free, gelatin-free, nut-free. They've really thought of everything. 18:52Claudia Oshry:Thank you. You're welcome. Our first story, Oscars recap. Yes. So we'll do the show, the winners. Yes. Conan. Conan. Let's start with Conan. Let's go in order of chronology. Chronology.
19:07Jackie Oshry:He didn't bother me. Like I feel like his stage time was not a lot, which I think is a good thing for all hosts. It's like, even if it was, you know, someone I loved, like you don't want the host up your ass. Yeah. And he didn't do like a lot of like stupid, silly, like skits. I thought there were so many bits. There were so many bits.
19:27Claudia Oshry:I mean, skits like singing and dancing and ping pong. No, but they did so many like produce bits like SNL where they had all these packages. And I was like, what's with all the bits?
19:36Jackie Oshry:Oh, that didn't bother me either. Except the one at the end, I like didn't understand. And I was about to come on here and be like making outrage about it. but apparently you need to have seen one battle after the other. Cause at the very end, they did this little skit and it was like the head of the association being like, Conan, you did so good. You're going to be the Oscars host for life. He was like, for life. That's amazing. And like, yeah, let me show you to your office, put him in his office. They're like, wait here, I'll go get the key. They lock him in. And then the vents like, like toxic smoke starts coming out.
20:04Jackie Oshry:They kill him and put him into an incinerator. I haven't seen one battle after another. So my immediate thought was like, are we cosplaying the Holocaust? It was gas chamber. than incinerator cremation and i was like looking on twitter i'm like where are my fellow people being outraged apparently it's a reference to this movie that's exactly what happened to sean penn spoiler alert um oh and then like when conan died they replaced the name on his door and it said host for life mr beast so i guess in the movie he gets like you know replaced by like a young hot thang and that's supposed to be mr beast by the way give it to mr beast agreed people who saw it the movie like thought it was funny for me i was like deeply uncomfortable but now i understand
20:38Claudia Oshry:that i was it was a reference to the movie that won best picture so maybe they had a bunch of packages filmed of how the movies ended or they could have just like looked at the results and only had to film one you know yeah themselves some time and money i personally tuned in to see if
20:51Jackie Oshry:timothy was going to win like i watched the whole thing because you know it's my job and i love to like you know be a part of something but what i really wanted to see was timothy um and of course conan made a joke about ballet and opera i thought it was funny like it was very light-hearted he addressed it i didn't think it was like timothy and kylie laughed and it wasn't a big deal like No. The thing is, is that what Timothy said is not a big deal. Everyone's acting like it is and they look stupid, but like it wasn't a big deal. So the cute little joke, like I liked it. I don't know if you saw Misty Copeland like did a surprise performance during one of the Sinners performances.
21:20Jackie Oshry:Yep. And I just felt like, okay, we've really lost the plot. Like was that designed? Oh, you felt like it was designed to be a swipe at Timothy? Like only because Timothy, you've decided to highlight ballet. Like you don't actually care. and it's like okay Timothy said this one thing like buried in a three-hour long interview we just discovered it we're all fake mad about it and it's like what he said wasn't like hurtful it wasn't it was just his opinion on something and because everyone in the room has deemed that opinion to be like bad we now have to like make a whole spectacle and embarrass Timothy on like an important night for him I thought it was so stupid and I like Misty Copeland like yeah show us more ballet that's great but like why only now i thought it was like really like they're proving
22:04Claudia Oshry:timothy's point that you guys weren't showing ballet correct and that you weren't uplifting
22:08Jackie Oshry:it was just like i'm like oh i thought because i thought conan's little thing was perfect like
22:13Claudia Oshry:and it was actually a funny joke and it is like the big news of this oscar season stupidly enough every red carpet host was asking everyone their thoughts on it like who cares josh groban pie uh chimed in but which you know what he's an opera singer so he's allowed to have an opinion He's allowed to have an opinion and he wouldn't say anything shady. And he said it's been an accidental positive for the community. And he's like, I'm not going to say more than that because you would be a loser to do so. It was great to see Josh up there doing his thang when he sang.
22:42Jackie Oshry:Shout out to People Magazine for doing a little game. I think they were at like a pre-Oscars event and people were walking the red carpet and they were like, what is your favorite opera? Oh, yeah. And I saw them say, what's your favorite ballet? And a couple of people like, thank God, remembered the Nutcracker. Mustered up the Nutcracker. But nobody said anything besides that. And most people said nothing. Right. Thus proving the point. So that like was a little annoying. But the thing back to Conan, it was just like a couple of times me and Ben were like, like a chuckle. You know, it wasn't a groundbreaking comedy, but it was just like, you know.
23:09Claudia Oshry:Also, the opening sketch, I, of course, did not understand because I didn't see any of the movies. Begonia or whatever movie that came from. And then I was like, why are all these kids chasing Conan? And of course, when I see like a group of children in Hollywood, I just am like. Red Flagler. Nefarious. Yeah, of course. so I didn't like the opening sketch because I didn't get it because I didn't see the movies because they were bad.
23:31Jackie Oshry:Right. I also didn't see not one singular movie. I think that's important to note whilst recapping this award show. So I don't have strong opinions on who should have won. Oh no, no. I have no opinion. I have no horse in this race. Like last year I watched
23:42Claudia Oshry:every single one. All I'll say is like I wish Timothy had won so that I could have heard him acknowledge. more Kylie FaceTime. However, I had turned it off by then. I made it all the way to the Golden Performance and then the whole time I was just like I really want to be watching Secret Lives. Like, I'm not finding this entertaining. And I want to be entertained, but I'll just, like, keep an ear open because, like, we're going to talk about it today. But I didn't find it to be good. But I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
24:08Jackie Oshry:Yeah, I like to see fabulous, like, good-looking people all in one room. Kate Hudson was nominated for an Oscar. And she's just so, like, it. Do you know what I mean? She got the best seat. Her movie, like, was in, I think the most nominated ones were... Sinners. Sinners in one battle after the other. Like her movie got like maybe one or two awards. Hers being one of them. Hugh Jackman wasn't even nominated. So like, I don't know. She literally had the best. She had a better seat than Michael Jordan. Like she had the best seat in the house. You could see her like from the angle of the host. They included her in like a couple little bits.
24:37Jackie Oshry:She's just like that girl, you know? Yeah. Oh, and actually this was the first year where I felt like the In Memoriam was so much more in depth than their typical slideshow. And, you know, Jennifer Hudson performance. They had a couple of people speak. I guess this year, we actually lost, usually there's like one or two major people. Catherine O 'Hara, Diane Keaton, Rob Reiner. I forgot about that. A lot of, oh, and then Robert Redford. Robert Streisand came out. She gave kind of like a turnt speech, negative connotation. But that's my queen right there, so like slay mama. And it was a little long, but it was nice.
25:14Jackie Oshry:It really was. I love to see Miss Rachel McAdams being tapped to speak on Diane Keaton. Now, I know everyone was like, Claudia, they were in the Family Stone together. I don't give a shit. They were in Morning Glory together. And we wouldn't all be here in this room right now if it weren't for that movie.
25:27Claudia Oshry:And I feel like that's really the project that bonded them. Obviously. Not the Family Stone. And I think it came out first. Actually, I don't know. I don't think Family Stone was a bonding experience.
25:35Jackie Oshry:I saw the Family Stone. And let me tell you, it is, bar none, the craziest movie. I don't know what I thought. I never saw it.
25:42Claudia Oshry:Should I see it?
25:43Jackie Oshry:Yes. You actually will love it. A turn positive or a turn negative? Turn positive for sure. Aladdin. Turn is the new Aladdin. Jackie, it's the craziest movie. You think it's just like a family Christmas movie. So you said turn positive? Turn positive. Okay. It's wild. First of all, star-studded Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson's hotter, better brother, Emmett. Is that his name? The plot. You have no idea where this movie is going to take you. Okay. I'm going to watch it. Yeah. You will actually love it. Let me add it to my content plate. and it's actually we should like all rewatch it i think we need to have like a a conversation about it it's like it's very it's a highly contested movie you know because people are like i'm team sjp you know like you'll say um how did i get oh the in memoriam yeah it's like so random um the in memoriam was actually really sweet i enjoyed that i feel like they could have given a little bit more to katherine o 'hara they should have had like um the ladies levies dan levy no Oh, not him.
26:45Jackie Oshry:The older one. Eugene Levy? Yeah, they worked together for like 100 years. They should have had him come. Yeah, they should have. They deserve the same level. And they just sort of like kind of brushed Catherine. And now people are mad because Eric Dane and James Van Der Beek were both not included. Having said that, I feel like they have to cap it to like feature film people. They were both TV actors. Which, of course, like they deserve to be honored. But like if we're including everyone. We're never in a movie?
27:10Claudia Oshry:I don't think so. Like for real. I guess. Okay. That's tough. But they should have just like done it for the people. Because it always happens like that. Where they leave out like the more famous people who have passed. And it's like just include them. I know. But like if. I actually don't think that they should. Yeah. The buck has to end somewhere.
27:29Jackie Oshry:With no offense we don't need the in memoriam to be like any longer. It was really long last night. Although I did enjoy it. But there wasn't a singer. So I thought that was missing.
27:38Claudia Oshry:Then we have best director went to one battle after another. They were the big winners last night.
27:42Jackie Oshry:along you know did you know that the director of one battle after another is married to maya rudolph no i didn't huge night for maya rudolph because she also got like the bridesmaids got together i was cracking up at the letter thing being scars guard oh my god that was so funny scars guard he's so classic i know him from something why was he getting like so much play i never saw that guy before dad of alexander and like there are three scars guard and peter i'm sorry that's just why he's a mama mia i didn't see mama mia it's not a common last name it has to be of course but like so Alexander and the guy from an education my favorite movie their brothers Peter oh he's married to Maggie Gyllenhaal he is oh Peter's not related okay so okay so maybe just Alexander and that they're both like and he's from yeah I guess yes yes yes yes true blood yeah yeah he's not um
28:31Claudia Oshry:so yeah that sketch I was like oh I was cracking it's so funny and Wendy McClellan LaVoy spoke out about why she wasn't there. Why? Because she had a neck lift. She said there's no drama. I love her. Imagine like getting the call. Imagine getting the call that like the bridesmaids are doing a reunion. It's probably like a week or two in advance and she's like recovering. So she already had the procedure. I would have still went. Or had it on the schedule. It's so windy to like put on a neck brace,
28:56Jackie Oshry:you know? She must be in really bad shape.
28:58Claudia Oshry:Yeah. I don't know. I could understand not wanting to go, but like we'll see you in 20 years for the next one. I love her too. That's so funny. But I don't feel like she was a main character. I know. I didn't feel like anyone was missing last night. I didn't feel like her absence was glaring.
29:10Jackie Oshry:I will say, the five of those... I guess she was a mean character with, you know. The five of those women on stage, like, they individually were all wearing, like, five of the ugliest dresses I've ever seen. And, like, all of them together, it was actually quite shocking. With the exception of Rose Byrne, she looked okay. But, like, I was shocked. I thought Kimmy Schmidt looked good.
29:26Claudia Oshry:It was okay. And Kristen Wiig is looking really great.
29:29Jackie Oshry:She is. She's like a fashion girl now.
29:31Claudia Oshry:And Maya Rudolph looked lovely. And Melissa McCarthy wearing her classic look.
29:34Jackie Oshry:No, I love Melissa McCarthy. It was terrible. Like, the five of them together, There was just no cohesion. Like, it was just, it was not working for me.
29:39Claudia Oshry:Speaking of cohesion, Devil Wears Proud, I had big moments. Anna Wintour presented with Anne Hathaway. You know what? And then there was a couple commercials and, like, you know, integrated brand commercials. So, I want to talk about her presenting.
29:53Jackie Oshry:Anna Wintour. Mm-hmm. And she did make a funny joke when she was, like, to Anne Hathaway, thank you, Emily. Like, funny. And she delivered it, actually. Slay. I just have one little critique. Because, you know, she's finally leading in. The movie was like such a big hit when it came out. And I think it was probably like her worst nightmare come true. Like, although I do feel it was very beneficial in cultivating this like kind of like slight image of her. Right. She's this legend. There's a movie about her. And her never having even acknowledged it, like was kind of cool. Knowing she hated it and like kind of blacklisted like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, like that's losery.
30:29Jackie Oshry:But her like getting involved now, I liked it. But part of me was like, it's kind of cooler when she didn't, you know?
30:34Claudia Oshry:Yeah. But I do think the idea of her presenting for best costume works with Anne. It was cool. Don't do too much of it. I fear she might be like be in the movie a lot. Anna? I don't know. I just feel like she's really participating. Oh, God. If she's in the movie, that's bad. Yeah. Also, when you recapped the premise of this next movie, it's like she's ahead of features, Emily. And my idea was better. but it also seems like she's like trying to um just based on the trailer that i saw it seems like they're trying to like uh you know wokeify her and like make you know i feel like oh and it's like yeah workplace harassment of miranda yeah it seems like she has a shadow who's like an hr person who's like you can't say that funny that seems to be like what's happening in the
31:22Jackie Oshry:movie i just think like anne hathaway going back to work at runway like is so incongruous with the Andy that we knew and I thought my premise for the film What was your premise again? That like Andy you know we check in 20 years later and she's like you know running features at like New York Magazine like somewhere like literary and major and she gets the job of having to do like a big profile or like maybe Miranda's retiring or something like and she follows her for like a month they go to Fashion Week and they go I just thought that would be better because her working at Runway like that Jarlsberg she would never.
31:51Jackie Oshry:Yeah what's Jarlsberg? Oh there's like$8 worth of Jarlsberg on that literally the best line and I hope Adrienne Gernier's character died like not in it at all we're literally the villain of that movie you think it's Meryl Streep no it's fucking Gernier it's 1000 % him like she just gets the job and she comes to like cocktails with all of her friends the yellow belly losers and she brings them gifts like she brought the Marc Jacobs bag like so cute and her phone starts ringing and they all especially Adrienne Gernier they like pass her phone around like she just brought you fucking gifts clenching she brought that chubby one a phone like are you kidding that movie actually pissing me off with that group of friends no we're supposed to like be with them and be like
32:31Claudia Oshry:oh are we i was never with them no ever something no what else happened okay let's go through the awards okay actor in a leading role went to michael b jordan and sinners not timothy chalamet i
32:44Jackie Oshry:really loved his speech like it was so sweet he says that like he really felt like everyone in this room like the industry like really champions him and believes in him and it's something he doesn't take for granted and he's so proud he's like i'm gonna keep crushing it i'm gonna keep doing just good work because everybody, you know, people in the theaters and then people in this industry just believe in me. It was a really good speech. Everyone does believe in him. I think he's just like a well-liked, affable, talented guy. Yeah. And he thanked Haley Steinfeld who couldn't be her because she's, you know, getting ready for that baby.
33:09Jackie Oshry:I thought maybe he spoke kind of fast. I thought maybe he said she had the baby by accident. But no, he didn't. Yeah. I don't feel like she did. Me neither. I feel like she actually could have went to the Oscars, but like stay at home. Yeah. She wasn't nominated.
33:21Claudia Oshry:Her movie was nominated a thousand times over. I really feel like she's not been that publicly associated with the movie as much as like other people have. Yeah. Actress in a leading role went to Jesse Buckley in Hamnet.
33:31Jackie Oshry:Oh, stop. Her speech like actually was making me cry. It was Mother's Day in the UK. She's British and her mom was there and it was just like and she just became a mom. She has an eight month old and it was just it was really beautiful. Oh, for the mamas. I kind of want to see the Hamnet. Okay. Hamnet. The Hamnet. Hamnet.
33:45Claudia Oshry:It looks good. Oh, he had a funny joke saying like Hamnet and begonia. Yeah, right. I chuckled. Actor in a supporting role, Sean Penn, in one battle after another, who did not attend the ceremony. You know, I was kind of confused.
34:01Jackie Oshry:And I don't know if this has been happening all awards season and I just realized it. And you didn't know what was happening? Jacob Elordi plays Frankenstein and he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in the movie Frankenstein. Like, how are you a supporting actor in the movie named after you?
34:14Claudia Oshry:Well, maybe the person who made Frankenstein. I forget. Maybe it's like his story and he made Frankenstein. Got it. It's like the Frankenstein prequel. it's always the Frankenstein actually Frankenstein prequel Frankenstein was everywhere I was like
34:27Jackie Oshry:this movie came out yeah it's swept in like costume design makeup artistry casting of course
34:33Claudia Oshry:um then we have actress in a supporting role which meant to Amy Madigan in weapons a weapons was the one that he was dressed as in the opening sketch yeah I actually like really didn't like having heard of that movie like really I didn't even see that person that the commercial from in the movie. Yeah. So when he dressed up in the makeup, I said, what's happening? Yeah, yeah. I could see how that would be confusing for someone. Right. And the kids were running after him. I never saw that. Got it, got it. So that's definitely like a long way to say. Did you ever see that? No. And like, so. I was just like, Hollywood.
35:03Claudia Oshry:It wasn't until I started to see like F1 and Sinners and Marty Sprint. I'm like, oh, this is a roundup of the movies. This was also the first year they gave out an Oscar
35:11Jackie Oshry:for casting. Yes. And I believe the woman who won was the one who cast one battle after the other. I do feel like it's never too late to give the Oscar to Hairspray I agree and I'll just wait for that to happen or for any live casting
35:27Claudia Oshry:not a feature film
35:29Jackie Oshry:live production
35:30Claudia Oshry:well maybe next year there'll be a category for best casting of a live production adapted screenplay one battle after another sure original screenplay oh that's a major category someone who didn't base it off of a movie a book or something that came before it
35:43Jackie Oshry:and that went to Sinners Yes, I actually think I was thinking about that, too, because when they were doing the packages of the nominees, it was like based on the based on the. And it's like, girl, nobody has an original idea. And I think I forget whose speech that was. Maybe it was Ryan, the guy who wrote Sinners, just like talking about. Ryan Coogler. Yeah, about like original ideas. And I was like, yes, original ideas.
36:04Claudia Oshry:I love those. Animated feature film won to K-pop Demon Hunters. Obviously. Of course.
36:10Jackie Oshry:They also won for Song. And I want to say like the Oscars did the most disgusting thing. Like I felt like vomiting. Did you see the taking the stand mic stand? The girl spoke and then she passed it off to the guy. And the second she did, they cut to Conan and turned off the lights. And so everybody started booing. And we went back and we saw that the mic had been drawn down. The music was on and the lights went off. And like we all just sort of stood there. And then Conan cut to a commercial break. I think these people are disgusting.
36:35Claudia Oshry:Yeah. And it's like when we had to watch two award speeches for the tie. Right. The point of this award show is like to give out awards. Like if you need to cut back on your bits and nonsense so that the people can have their moment for the for the point of this award show. Like, oh, true.
36:50Jackie Oshry:Just let them know. I want I felt and he wasn't like a big wig. You know, this is like his first time maybe ever going to be on this stage. Like, let the man speak. I felt really sick. And the K-pop demon hunters took over the world. And I don't know, just do that to someone famous. You would never. Right. You would never.
37:03Claudia Oshry:Just like a little guy who wrote a song. I was really upset. The biggest song of the year. I didn't realize K-pop demon hunters was animated. I thought it was live action. No, I do.
37:13Jackie Oshry:But I much like Cynthia, unlike Cynthia Erivo.
37:15Claudia Oshry:But I love it just the same. Never saw it, but I love it.
37:19Jackie Oshry:Shout out to Diane Warren. She lost for the 18th year in a row. Oh, her song. I didn't think her Kesha song was going to be the one that cinched it, especially when Golden was in the category. I do believe she will win. And I'm sorry that that happened.
37:33Claudia Oshry:Yeah. Yeah. Golden, like no one's set a chance. One, it's the biggest song of the year. And two, I've not heard of any of these songs. Right. Original score went to Sinners. Cinematography Sinners. Sinners was the big winner of the evening. Sinner the winner. And won battle. One battle was actually the big winner. They won the big. No, and they won six awards and Sinners won four. Got it. Got it. And they won Best Picture. And that's the big one.
37:55Jackie Oshry:Oh, my God. We have to talk about Teyana Taylor. She's so fucking funny. So when her movie won, she was like one of the first people to rush on stage. She couldn't believe it. She put the director, Maya Rudolph's husband, in a headlock. She was like, yeah, like gave him a noogie. It was so funny. and then they had three statues and when they gave the nominations they were like they said the three people it was obviously like the two director the director producer whatever and I don't know if Tiana like thought that it was hers but she was holding on to it the entire time and like the woman who was one of the people who I don't know who wins when the movie gets the award but like it's the director the executive whatever she like didn't get one Tiana took it and I was like like Leonardo DiCaprio standing there holding Nothing.
38:37Jackie Oshry:Tiana's like, oh my God, she was being so fucking funny. Like we need her to be in more movies of this caliber because she's actually brought a lot to the awards circuit. Like she's always best dressed. Yeah. But she has so much personality at sometimes it's like stuffy events with the guy in headlock. She was freaking out. She was so happy. It was honestly, she is a delight to watch. I'm very joyful. I was cracking up. That's hysterical. It was.
39:02Claudia Oshry:So those were the big winners. As far as fashion, any best favorite dress? No.
39:07Jackie Oshry:Like, everyone just wears nice dresses, you know?
39:08Claudia Oshry:Yeah. I thought everyone looked nice. Yeah. Oh, actually, I didn't like Kylie. It's not to be negative. So, Kylie looked amazing. She's the most beautiful woman on the planet, and she can do no wrong. It wasn't my favorite of Kylie's looks. I thought she didn't dress. Like, it was so, like, not. She had worn this Schiaparelli dress a few months back, I think, to a show. And she had said in, it was actually in an interview, that, like, she felt like it didn't get enough shine and that, like, we should do it again. And so, it's the same dress, but in red. No, I just don't love red. And I don't love sparkles.
39:38Claudia Oshry:And I don't love red sparkles. Cutouts? I don't love cutouts. That's what I mean. It's like Sheehan. Yeah. It was like a play on Jessica Rabbit. It wasn't my favorite, but she is the most beautiful woman. I wonder if Timothy was upset. About with her dress?
39:51Jackie Oshry:Him losing. No, he didn't reprimand her when he got home that her dress wasn't pretty.
39:55Claudia Oshry:Yeah, I was bummed for her that she has to go deal with that. I know. Like that ego, you know, after everything that he said. And I think we all thought Timothy was going to win because he said he was going to win. You know, like what do you mean? The whole time he was like, this is the greatest movie. This is like I'm going to win the Oscar. Like and so we're like, yeah, Timothy's going to win the Oscar. And so I don't know if that's like how he actually felt. And now he's coming down from his high horse or he's just like projecting that, you know, manifesting into the world. I feel like he should be OK.
40:23Claudia Oshry:He has so much more ahead of him. So young. He will win an Oscar in his life. But I did feel really, really bummed for Kylie that she has to go home and take care of that. and like yeah bummer yeah yeah big bummer but i guess that's part of being like the wife of the wife of i'm sure like taylor deals with it with travis beyond he's like how to sugar not like behavior yeah like seriously the high highs and low lows is all it's so you can't have it all they did go to the vanity fair oscar party together they were touchy-feely on the carpet
40:52Jackie Oshry:so at least they partied hard an outfit that because there were so many outfits right everybody goes to the oscars wears their best and then everybody goes to the oscars and then people who didn't go to the Oscars also go to the Vanity Fair. It was like kind of a, it's like a lot of information, but I will say like someone that really stood out was Kendall Jenner's Vanity Fair.
41:05Claudia Oshry:Yeah.
41:06Jackie Oshry:It was kind of like insane.
41:07Claudia Oshry:I loved that dress. I would have loved to see Kylie in it. Like literally. Yeah. Kylie wore like, she looked amazing again. It was like black sparkly with feathers. Like I don't like sparkly feathers.
41:20Jackie Oshry:Kim was there. Yeah. It was giving like kind of like 2012 Kanye era, like with a smoky eye.
41:27Claudia Oshry:It was and like the hair. Yeah. I liked it, but it was just weird. It feels nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I think it's a place where you look nice. You don't go and set a new trend. No, it's not artsy. You don't go to set a new trend. You go to look your best. I think you can meet a guy. You can meet a girl. It's true. It's eligible people. It's true. And you just want to look nice. And you want to be able to move through the room. You don't want to have a huge gown. It's true. We're just having drinks and we're having fun. Yeah. It's not like the Met Gala where it's like, I need people to carry me and walk with me.
41:52Claudia Oshry:And I can't walk on my own two feet. Like, no, we need to be mobile. We need to be looking chic and pretty. Classically pretty. So I feel like everyone really looked that way. Yeah, nobody embarrassed themselves at Vanity Fair. People mostly don't in terms of looks. Yeah. Yeah. So that's your Oscars recap. I think that's everything. Are you ready for our next story? Okay. Oh, some crazy TV news. Access Hollywood has been canceled along with Karamo and Steve Wilkis as NBCU.
42:22Jackie Oshry:By the way, everyone's talking about access, but like Steve Wilkos being canceled is really crazy. And really? Yeah. Like he's OG, like Maury Jerry Spinner era.
42:31Claudia Oshry:He's Jerry's old security guard. And then he got his own show. And it's obviously like I've never seen it. I had no idea that that was happening. I never heard Steve Wilkos before.
42:40Jackie Oshry:So a fun fact about me is I actually went to a taping of the Jerry Spinner show. It's a kind of my favorite. It's kind of formed you as a woman. Absolutely. It was a formative experience. my friend Rachel it was her birthday and she was like I'm taking you guys on a mystery bus ride she took us to Connecticut and until we like pulled up I had no idea where we're going and we went to the place where they film Maury Jerry Springer Steve Wilkos that's how I know and Maury was actually not in season so he wasn't taping Jerry was I got a hat I also met Jerry Springer I don't know if I mentioned that because his social media manager was obviously like a brother at the time and she saw my story and said I was there and she was like do you want to meet Jerry and I was like do I want to meet Jerry I'm sure and he was really lovely you forget that he hosts this crazy show he looked like seriously someone's grandpa um and he was like so nice to meet you let's take a picture i hope i never see you on my show um have a good day i said thanks so much so back to steve wilkos that's devastating but i do feel like that era of cable tv is so i can't
43:30Claudia Oshry:believe he's still on the air yeah and karamo but access hollywood i feel like is the biggest one and access live um in a major strategic shift for the company they will not be renewed i mean it's
43:42Jackie Oshry:really hard for some reason for like pop culture entertainment tv programs to survive in this climate i wonder why which like it's crazy because that's literally what we grew up watching putting them on notice i don't know why they have a hard time like moving digitally like access should have become like a huge digital program like same with e-news it's insane that these franchises can't keep it up but it's probably because there's so many well not so many like one amazing daily pop culture podcast that's sort of putting them out of business yeah do you feel i
44:10Claudia Oshry:I didn't think about it this way until we're having this conversation. Do you feel personally responsible? No, we don't interview celebrities.
44:16Jackie Oshry:Like we actually, we have nothing to do. And all we do is like say mean things that people are thinking. So you don't think it was just like us?
44:22Claudia Oshry:No, no, I actually don't. No, and we actually were on Access a couple times. I want to say, love my Access family. I actually, we had the most amazing experiences.
44:31Jackie Oshry:I was just on it the other day for Messinger. They're always having me on. I'm going to be devastated. This is a huge loss for me. I've been on like five times. Every time I need to do press, I pitch them. And I just want to say, it's all toasters. That woman, Tricia, like, shout out your fucking real one. Like, I'm never going to work in this town again. This sucks. Of course. It fucking sucks. The one show that has the songs. Yeah, that loves us. Like, literally loves us. Everybody loves us. Yeah, when I was talking to them last time, there was two toasters. They were like, oh, when the Zoom was over, like, can we come over?
44:57Jackie Oshry:Where's Jackie? Are you in Jackie's house? Because I was doing the press in your house. This sucks. I'm so sorry for us. Yeah, me too. And Mario Lopez. And the hosts are so, like. And Kit.
45:08Claudia Oshry:Kit, yeah. got a job yeah they're so talented and they're like really entertainment journalists and we do
45:13Jackie Oshry:still need that i know but you know vanity fair i was actually watching all these clips like literally not a journalist in sight for vanity fair i think official it was britney broski quinn and therapist oh wow yeah for that's sort of like sweet life on deck with hannah montana yeah for the cut it was sierra miller from summer house okay um for amelia chicken chop she was I think official Oscars okay yeah not a journalist in sight and you know what's so funny is actually Jake Shane was just on the Rolling Stone podcast and all he's they were getting deep they were asking really good questions um and they were asking about this like line between journalism and influencing and Jake was like I'm not a journalist I don't like pretend to be insulting to call him a journalist I don't pretend to be I don't do journalism and if like somebody comes on my show and says something like crazy and I get like a big scoop and they want it taken out like I'm extremely gracious I take out everything that people ask me to take out because I'll get another big guest another thing will happen and I just want people to have really enjoyed their time so like the total opposite of how traditional journalism
46:17Claudia Oshry:would treat like a subject it was a good interview well then we need a new word for it because Jake Shane isn't not not a journalist and he's not an influencer either he's sort of like just a friend do you know what I mean like everybody likes him no but there are a couple people like changing and And just like the conversation we had about the new, so, you know, Game of Crowns and Alex, we're like, if they're not journalists. Royal Court. Yeah. Game of Crowns. Close. Yeah. They're not, they're not not journalists. They're something, they're something new. Right, right. And like, if they're going to be replacing journalists, then.
46:54Jackie Oshry:I just think on red carpet at like these high brow events, like you do sort of need like a Kelty. Yeah. Yeah. She was there, by the way, doing A, Justin too.
47:04Claudia Oshry:Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I agree. I'm not like, we still need some.
47:11Jackie Oshry:But like these digital outlets, like now red carpets, like I don't watch them on TV. They're all on TikTok. You see the clips. Yeah. So they tap TikTok. Right. So I get it. And I don't think it's as exciting to watch and be interviewed by like a no-name journalist. Like I get that. I do. But it's an imperfect solution.
47:27Claudia Oshry:Yeah. But you know what? I think much like a lot, like it will work itself out. And the cream rises. but we will miss Access and Steve Wilkos and Karamo. I didn't know Karamo was still on the air. I didn't know. And now he's not. Are you ready for our next story?
47:44Jackie Oshry:If it's our next story, that's brought to you by Pepsi. It is. Well, Pepsi has prebiotic cola now. It comes in two flavors, original cola and cherry vanilla. It's got that great Pepsi taste, but now with even more to love. No artificial sweeteners, only five grams of sugar and just 30 calories, plus three grams of prebiotic fiber, which is pargy. I mean, we're drinking soda, like we are. And so we want that soda to just be doing a little bit more for us. So having prebiotic fiber, like, thank you. That's actually extremely beneficial because, you know, I believe a lot in time management. And this just seems like a really good way to manage your time.
48:15Jackie Oshry:So it's Pepsi Prebiotic Cola. It's unbelievably Pepsi and it's available now. If you were looking for a cola that delivers, Pepsi Prebiotic Cola is perfect for you because nothing beats that great Pepsi taste. You guys know, I'm much like Britney Spears. Yeah, I actually like Pepsi. Yeah, actually. And I do. Like I really do. It's delicious. It has three grams of prebiotic fiber, five grams of sugar, and just 30 calories, plus no artificial sweeteners. So I think a lot of people are trying to take like a more proactive step in like drinking better sodas. And Pepsi Prebiotic is a great option. It tastes just like Pepsi and it's got so much more to love.
48:45Jackie Oshry:We've tried it. We've loved it. It's true. I had one over the weekend. Pepsi Prebiotic Cola, especially the original cola and cherry vanilla, like very nostalgic flavors, which I really like. Pick some up if you haven't already. Check it out at local retailers and try Pepsi Prebiotic Cola today. Today's episode of The Toast is also brought to you by Good Ranchers. It's America's 250th birthday. I don't know if you know that, Jackie. Happy birthday, America. So let's honor the people who helped build it, the ranchers. So Good Ranchers really honors the legacy of American ranchers. They are the only source that, they're the only company that sources their cuts from local American farms and ranches.
49:19Jackie Oshry:Now, we watch Yellowstone. We know the importance of cattle ranchers, farmers in America, literally the backbone of this country. and Good Ranchers is dedicated to America. They basically said America.
50:18Jackie Oshry:Today's episode is also brought to you by Quince. these days we're all about quality over quantity, especially when it comes to what's in our closet. If it's not well-made, if it's not versatile, if it's not lasting, it's really just not worth it to us. And that's why we love Quince. Quince has been a longtime partner of our show. We're really big fans of the company. They have amazing things for home, for travel, for clothing, for your wardrobe, especially if you're trying to build. You know, I feel like when I was younger, I wore a lot of disposable clothing, things that did not last, things were like really cheaply made.
50:45Jackie Oshry:Well, the fabrics from Quince feel really elevated. The cuts are more thoughtful and the pricing really makes sense. So obviously when we want to start investing in more high quality items, we're using better fabrics, organic cotton poplin, 100 % silk, 100 % European linen. I think a lot of us are used to paying an insane markup for just higher quality items because that's what designer brands do. Well, Quince has figured out kind of a life hack. They work directly with safe ethical factories. They cut out the middleman and then pass the savings on to the customer. So you're not paying for a brand markup or a fancy retail store.
51:11Jackie Oshry:You're just paying for the quality clothing. So like I said, they use 100 % European linen. We have linen sets from them that we wear to the beach. So cute. I've got trousers from them. I've got cashmere sweaters. The items are built to hold up season after season. The stitching, the fit, the fabrics. They are pieces that you'll love forever and ever. And they just launched in Canada. So that's exciting. Right now, go to quince.com slash toast for free shipping and 365 day returns. It's a full year to wear it and love it. And you will. It's now available in Canada. So don't keep settling for clothes that don't last.
51:39Jackie Oshry:Go to quince.com slash toast for free shipping and 365 day returns. Quince.com slash toast. They also have amazing customer service. And check out their home stuff. I got curtains from Quinn's, and I really love them. So, quince, Q-U-I-N-C-E dot com. Thank you, Turt. You're welcome.
51:55Claudia Oshry:Our next story, Harry Styles was on SNL. He hosted, and he kissed Ben Marshall. And I don't know that we would have known that he hosted had he not done that. So, he's addressing the queer baiting allegations by kissing comedian Ben Marshall during his monologue.
52:12Jackie Oshry:I just want to say, like, not to be a wokey, but, like, he is a big queerbaiter. Do you know what I mean? Like, I didn't know that word actually until Harry Styles a few years ago. And it's like, yeah, he does talk a lot, dress like a lot of very androgynous, very, you know, his music videos. It's like, but he exclusively dates women. Right. So I and he does call an interview, says he's queer. But, like, are you? Right. So I guess this was his way of addressing it. Quite literally, leaving me more confused than ever.
52:41Claudia Oshry:Confused in what sense? About his sexuality? Or about how seriously he takes the queer baiting allegations? And if he is doing more queer baiting by kissing Ben Marshall?
52:49Jackie Oshry:Well, he is. Because it just looked like that was the first time he kissed a boy. Like, do you know what I mean? It wasn't giving. Like, I do this all the time. Yeah. Yeah, that's funny.
52:58Claudia Oshry:I didn't actually watch SNL. I don't watch. No. I didn't realize he was hosting. I genuinely would not have heard anything about it. Good thing that he kissed Ben Marshall. Or else his whole episode would have just gone in the bin. Did his Netflix live concert come out yet?
53:11Jackie Oshry:It should have, given how we reported on the details. I don't know why. I just feel like this errand. Sometimes an artist just does an errand that's not for you. Like we were talking about that with Kacey Musgraves, you know? I feel like this particular Harry era is not for me. And so I'm just sort of, it's just passing me by. And I'm okay with that.
53:27Claudia Oshry:You know what I just realized? Harry Styles will be our namesake. Not if we keep talking about him in the way that we are. So I just thought this was the most amazing SNL episode. And the album's incredible. Really? Have you listened to it? Forwards and backwards.
53:41Jackie Oshry:I heard a song. It's called American Girls. It's actually really cute. I've known you for ages. See how to go as an American girl. He does live in American Girl. Yeah. It came on my Alexa yesterday. Olivia Dean. Not Olivia Dean. I'm cracking up. I was just thinking about how we used to date Olivia Dean. Did he? That doesn't stick. Well, it obviously doesn't stick because I brought her up on the toast when I heard that they were dating years ago. and then I started seeing videos of her performing way before she was famous and I said to you Jackie I think you'd really like this girl I need to find that clip it was like literally in 2022 I'm like I saw her I'm like Jackie had a baby I said she dresses really fabulously like I think you would really like her yeah no you
54:21Claudia Oshry:were definitely right but maybe because I just had a baby I just couldn't take out a new artist what I was trying to say was that Lisa Benet was there so like it's getting serious oh yeah and Zoe Kravitz was there and Lisa Benet and Macha Tunum and kind of a big deal yeah but no you know forgoing namesake for a second and just putting the best interest of the discussion forward.
54:43Jackie Oshry:It's giving flop. Right. Are we unique in RPO? Because I do really feel like sometimes you just aren't the targeted person for music or era or whatever.
54:55Claudia Oshry:Well, that's why we have to check in with Margot Washtray from time to time.
54:57Jackie Oshry:Yeah, right. Or the listeners. Sound off. Is this era giving you everything? Because I did watch a bunch of music people's reviews on the album. I was interested in seeing a couple of people I follow. And overwhelmingly, it's been not that it's a bad album, but it's like very meh. Like and especially I think I agreed with this, too. The messaging has been very misleading because everyone thought they were tuning into like a pussy pop. Yeah, yeah. And Disco is like very untrending. Abba's coming back. Like everyone loves Disco. So it's not that it's actually one of his more like reflective and sad albums.
55:31Jackie Oshry:Somber, but not capital S. I gotta tell you, I'm loving that somber. I know that song keeps coming up on my tick tock. Um, I don't want to be a home record. I'm telling you, he's got risks. Yeah.
55:43Claudia Oshry:No,
55:44Jackie Oshry:they're onto something with somber. Yeah. And, um, home record is his new song and Kelly Clarkson covered it and she crushed it. Like, yeah, well that's, oh, and then they had like a really kind of trendy music video for it. Sombra was in it. Quinn.
56:01Jackie Oshry:And Milo who beat who Bobby bones a beat on dancing with. Oh, What was he doing there? So I think the song is about a homewrecker. So it's like one guy, two girls. Like maybe like he's being a homewrecker on Quinn and Rapunzel boy. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So he's like a young person and I feel like he's doing really good.
56:19Claudia Oshry:Yeah. And I think Harry Styles is like these old tropes are not going to work anymore.
56:23Jackie Oshry:Well, I also think, and I find this very promising what we were talking about. The music that is doing well with young people right now, thankfully, is like very joyful music. That's what I've been saying. Somber Olivia Dean Ray Alex Warren Alex Well his is like a little more emo But I mean like the viral Like really The big artists right now Like they're doing Joyful music And like light colorful I feel like for a while Like kids were like Obsessed with being depressed And like wearing black makeup And now it's like Yeah I want to dress like Olivia Dean And I want to wear sparkles And like it's very Let my hair down Like it's very joyful That's why I have tapped back in
56:55Claudia Oshry:I don't know if you guys noticed that We have We have And I think that's great And it's not a change in me It's like a change in the culture It is There's a lot of new artists For me to consume
57:02Jackie Oshry:I think it's good for young people's health as well.
57:05Claudia Oshry:Yeah, I agree. I think it's a really great trend. Yeah. More of that, please, Bessie. And that like was Harry's thing. Like, the outfits, the feathers. I don't know what's going on with herself. Yeah. I think he's like, I don't know. It's hard. It's really hard to follow up something like really fantastic. It's honestly a rite of passage to like have this moment. It's true. And I feel for him. But like I said, this is something that the female pop stars deal with. All the time. throughout their careers every minute of it. Like Katy Perry listening to this conversation. She's like, yeah, welcome to my life.
57:35Claudia Oshry:Yeah. Like it's never enough. You always have to be next. Better. More. Yes. Bigger. Yeah, totally. And the same goes for Harry if you want to be in the pop space.
57:44Jackie Oshry:Especially if you want to take so much time off. Like so many people really did. Benson Boone. They say he's like, I want to be Harry Styles. But you know what? He does that like very moonbeam ice cream, positive joy. If Mary Meghan Trainor coded, you know. I love Benson Boone.
57:55Claudia Oshry:I like him too. Music. I don't know him as a person. I think he's a nice boy. I've never seen an interview. we could have him on namesake because he's the same name as your husband right ben ruben so we could also have ben's and zach's and jackie's and claudia's that opens up we have to have more
58:12Jackie Oshry:interviews we're only gonna it's supposed to be a limited series it will still be limited it's
58:16Claudia Oshry:supposed to be limited it will still be limited we could have olivia dean on yeah we could we could make that concession for her we could have margot robbie we could yeah if we were open to that our next story is actually a great segue okay into Elle Fanning's next role she is playing it better be the Nightingale OnlyFans creator from Margo's Got Money Troubles which is I saw I saw people talking about this and I knew it because it was a Redheads book so we could have her on namesake to promote Margo's Got Money Troubles okay now people's characters count okay listen we have to think creatively we're just gonna hit a dead end the future we're gonna hit a Duned and she reveals that she created an OnlyFans account to prep for her latest role.
58:56Claudia Oshry:So if you don't know, Margot's Got Money Troubles is about a young mom who turns to OnlyFans because she just had a baby and she needs money. And Elle Fanning is playing Margot in Margot's Got Money Troubles.
59:06Jackie Oshry:Elle Fanning is kind of like a, she works a lot, so I don't think of her so much as like a Daisy Edgar Jones, but like she's always getting tapped for adaptations. Yeah.
59:13Claudia Oshry:Well, she's always getting tapped, period. She's at every single Oscars for a different movie, of course, because it's a new year.
59:18Jackie Oshry:What's so funny is I was thinking about her last night, her movie one, international feature film, and she was on stage. She's so cute. And it's like crazy how like she was Dakota Fanning's sister and now like Dakota's her sister.
59:30Claudia Oshry:You know what I mean? No, and it's crazy how every movie that she picks like winds up getting nominated for everything. She's a really good picker or they just like look at movies that she's in. I don't know how that works. No, she is a good picker for sure. What came first?
59:41Jackie Oshry:So she's supposed to be doing The Nightingale, which is a book adaptation. She's now doing another book adaptation.
59:45Claudia Oshry:And she's also playing Paris and Nicole. Yeah. you want to know what it is she's kind of ageless like how old is she she's either like 23 or 35 you know she's 27 so she's smack in between yeah and i love her she's playing an only fans creator in the movie adaptation of margot's got money trouble so that will be interesting and she's so
1:00:03Jackie Oshry:um like serious looking she reminds me a lot of my friend margot fish like very porcelain like skin very then you hear her talk and she's like kind of crazy yeah she's like friends with timothy so
1:00:12Claudia Oshry:right and kylie and her were chatting quite a bit i don't know if you saw they were sitting right next to each other. Yeah, they're best friends. From Bob Dylan. From Bob Dylan's circuit. You know what I was thinking about Bob Dylan's? And Mamma Nica Barbaro.
1:00:20Jackie Oshry:I'm sure she feels left out. Okay, so I was thinking about literally that last night. It's just so, and we talk about this with music a lot, but I don't think we talk about it with like the Oscars because when Mikey Madison came out, she won the, she gave the award for best actress because she had won the previous year and it was like last year you couldn't leave your house. Mikey Madison, Mikey Madison, Mikey Madison, Anora, Anora. And did she work? Like I literally didn't see her in one thing after that. It's crazy how you can be it on top of the world, bell of the ball, Hollywood It Girl, and then I never hear from you again.
1:00:44Claudia Oshry:Yeah, Mikey Madison, she might have filmed something that, she might have gotten jobs from the Oscars that haven't come out yet. Maybe. A year's a long time. But, like, think of like three years ago, who won, and like, where are they now? You know what I mean? It just feels like every year. Yeah.
1:00:58Jackie Oshry:Yeah. And then who were you saying that about? Wait, how did we get here? Dakota and Monica Barbaro and the gang.
1:01:05Claudia Oshry:So then,
1:01:05Jackie Oshry:yeah. The girl gang. Monica Barbaro last year was like, she was ever a girl when she's so pretty cat is i never saw her again yeah i saw the movie that
1:01:12Claudia Oshry:she was in what happened to her what movie bob dylan oh yeah yeah such a bad movie maybe she's like working on her next big thing apparently everyone is we are yeah um so i'm very excited for this movie even though i didn't like love actually i like the book it was fine it was a little too like only fans specific you know if like only fans changes like if they have a user website change like everything in the book is sort of like oh that's interesting it was about how like you couldn't even link your OnlyFans on your Instagram link in bio like you have to use link tree and I was just like that's really in the week very yeah technical yeah very technical so it makes sense that she joined OnlyFans in order to like yeah of course around the site well it sounds like a great premise for a movie yeah it does so I actually will be seeing this it does and the casting is really good Michelle Pfeiffer plays her mother and Nick Overman plays her dad who's a former pro wrestler and yeah that's so Nick Overman in the words of Redheads, that feels right.
1:02:04Claudia Oshry:Mm-hmm, TFR. Are you ready for our fifth and final story? We're going to do Slamao recap because news just broke that production is paused on Slamao right now after Taylor and Dakota have a blowup.
1:02:14Jackie Oshry:Okay, and this is after... This is yesterday. So this is after the season of The Bachelorette
1:02:20Claudia Oshry:has already been filmed. Yes, Taylor's supposed to be engaged to someone right now and production on The Secret Lives of Morton Wise has hit an unexpected pause and it's all due to a heated blowup between Taylor and Dakota, TMZ has learned. Sources connected to the series tell us that production is currently shut down after drama with the show's star, Taylor Frankie Paul, and her baby daughter, Dakota Mortensen, erupted while filming for season five, causing cameras to go down for the time being. It's unclear exactly what sparked the fight, but sources say the situation became intense enough that filming couldn't continue as planned.
1:02:47Jackie Oshry:So I feel like, I mean, this is so Dakota and Taylor. They had a domestic violence call. Like they are no stranger to like police drama, whatever. But I do feel like a lot of Taylor's goodwill is like with the fans and like the audience, the Watchers is really kind of dwindling and this is not going to help her I don't know why they didn't like edit the show position Taylor just to be a little bit more favorable you want to go in liking the Bachelorette and I have like a lot of doubts now and then this like I just feel like I didn't want them to lie to us and this is clearly what was going on in her life but like this is not gonna be good it's gonna be like a good drama season but it's not a serious okay I have two
1:03:28Claudia Oshry:conflicting thoughts with the two thoughts conflict each other so here's one case scenario that like she kind of pulls a Claire Claire Corrale this season and fucks up the season like what are the odds that she makes it all the way to the end gets with one person gets engaged that person is not Dakota Chase or Ben the singer and we have a bachelorette season so all of this might be preparing us for how things go sideways on her season if they go sideways the other thought is that my memory when it comes to these things is so short I know Pratchett are at premieres next week but it will take place over the series of months and by the time I'm watching the last episode I will not remember what I watched on uh Hulu right now and so like even with Demi and like when Whitney was the villain like I'm sad I'm watching and I'm like yeah you're bad and the
1:04:14Jackie Oshry:minute I turn it off I turn a new page and I think the women mostly do too like it's actually crazy at the beginning of this season Jessie was like not even that mad at Demi they met for a couple's counseling session. Like I do think they all have short memory spans and for the sake of the show they know they kind of need to move on.
1:04:27Claudia Oshry:And I think the audience has short memory spans too and I think that Hulu is like maybe playing into that knowing that we're getting a great season of Slamo. Everyone will digest it. Move on. And then when Taylor Frankie Paul probably the show premieres next week. So that gives everyone two weeks to watch the show. Process it. And then I think the first episode of her bachelorette if she is intent on like going through the season. This news kind of derails what you just said. Yes but it could be this could mean a million things. This could mean like, you know, Taylor's mental health. She needed a break.
1:04:56Claudia Oshry:Like, and I think she does need a break. And I think the show needs.
1:04:59Jackie Oshry:By the way, she's so skinny. Like, not in like a pardy way. Like, she looks so worn down.
1:05:04Claudia Oshry:She looks very, very tired. I think the show needs a break. One for like content's sake because we're watching the reunion, talking about the reunion. Like, give them a day to live and then tell us about it. Oh, while like breastfeeding their babies. Yeah. And I think the women need a break, but it wouldn't even be to the detriment of the show. It would be better for the show if they took a couple months off and they were like, here's what you missed in the last few months because so much happens every single day, but not enough to film every single day because then we're seeing the conversation.
1:05:28Claudia Oshry:We're seeing this person tell this person about the conversation, this person tell that person about the conversation, all about a conversation about something that happened that I no longer care about. So I think they need to like just pause for a lot of different reasons. But I do think that we will be able to process this season and then her first episode of The Bachelorette, if she does wind up with a new person and goes through the whole season, they will dive extensively into her past to the point where we no longer talk about it
1:05:54Jackie Oshry:yeah but her past is her present because she's getting whatever was there police what was it
1:06:00Claudia Oshry:didn't say please just something intense happened and they have to but it's like how intense does it have to be because you think that's when cameras are up right right no for cameras to drop
1:06:07Jackie Oshry:that's like they never drop they didn't even drop on the boat in cartagena yeah which was so crazy um or it's like legal i also think like totally separately they drop bachelor in paradise and when they drop. Right, right. I think just this is totally separate, but I do feel like Taylor Frankie Paul needs a dramatic haircut. Like, I think it'll change a lot of things.
1:06:26Claudia Oshry:Yeah.
1:06:26Jackie Oshry:At the Oscars last night, she just had like her prom waves and I'm like, you know what? It made me realize, I feel that way about Olivia Rodrigo and her sister Margo and our sister Margo did it and she looks great. Sometimes you need to chop. Oh yeah, and Taylor Frankie Paul was at the Oscars. She's an ABC like... And it was just starting... Oh wait, so this was literally last night. Yeah. Where was the blow up? In LA?
1:06:44Claudia Oshry:Was he in LA with her? or is he just in LA because dad talk and maybe he's watching the maybe watching ever ever ever
1:06:54Jackie Oshry:ever okay I have to say something I love about this show like when they went they all went to LA you didn't see this yet to go to the dancing with the stars premiere everyone rents a house they bring husbands babies whatever the women go to dancing with the stars and all the men stay home with the babies and they're just like filming having conversations like giving the babies bottles and there's something just like very normalized about the gender roles like traditionally like flipping and it's such a delight to watch and the only one who's sort of like not going quietly into his role is Jordan and that's why he's so hellbent on dad talk like becoming a thing so that they can earn and the women stay home with the babies and it's like stop even if dad talk
1:07:28Claudia Oshry:is okay like like just say how the housewives new jersey husbands is as successful as they could ever be the women are always gonna be more successful they set the template and I think
1:07:36Jackie Oshry:a lot of them like have really comfortably maybe it took like a zach affleck a minute you know but I think they're all very comfortable like being more domestic and having their wives just make this insane amount of money Jordan is not going quietly into the night and he's giving off like a really toxic narcissistic behavior and the crazy thing is that I believe him and Jesse are still together even though no I think I hate him nobody on this earth hates him more than Jesse and did you feel like she tolerates and puts up with a lot because she has young kids and like that's what you're supposed to do and so she's a queen for that and I know she listens to the show so I just want to let you know like you're a queen and I support whatever decision you make but like I hate your fucking husband.
1:08:07Like hate.
1:08:09Claudia Oshry:Yeah.
1:08:09Jackie Oshry:Like he wears so many tank tops.
1:08:11Claudia Oshry:He got hair plugs and veneers. Like he's just sort of a cliche. No, and just his personality is so bad. And it seems like he's doing stuff like in service of the show. Like when he told the girls immediately, when he was the one to be like, first of all, plan the trip. Guy with a pack. Everyone we're going to get, you know, the villa's going to be crazy. And he's the one hyping everyone up. And then to like go to run and tell Jesse when he said that no one else, even like Jacob isn't telling Macy. And they're like, you know, and you know that it hurts him to do that. Yep. So he tells Jesse, like for literally no other reason than the show, he is living and dying by the show.
1:08:42Claudia Oshry:No, he's so crazy. And he's so like not really an integral part of the show. Even when he was hugging Taylor when she was crying in their closet, I'm like, get your paws off her. Like you're so fake. Yucky. You hyped up Dakota to go and do this. You made everyone go.
1:08:55Jackie Oshry:No, no. He is the villain of this show. I cannot stand him. And I love Layla. She hates him so much.
1:09:00Claudia Oshry:He doesn't even care that he's the villain of the show because he's just said, oh, I'm on the show. So you see, I'm on the show. So I don't have to stay at home with the kids. I can go because I'm on the show.
1:09:07Jackie Oshry:Because now I'm the villain of the show. I really have to go on the show. And I guess he sees this because up until the show and TikTok, I think they were all having like normal marriages. Zach was going to medical school. I think he has, out of all the men, been in this position the entire time. Jesse was always the earner in their family, which is like so not Mormon. It's so not Utah. Like it's not traditional. So I think he's been in this prison for a while and like he sees the show as his way out. And he's like he's taking it. It's not. It's not. We hate you. It's the secret lives of Mormon wives.
1:09:38Jackie Oshry:Like, Dad Talk needs to stand on its own. He doesn't. Dad Talk has to get this opportunity. Here's the thing.
1:09:41Claudia Oshry:He doesn't care that we hate him, Claudia. The more we hate him, the better it is for him. Like, the more that we are sitting here talking about him right now in rage, the better it is for him. And if the only way he can get attention on the show is to be the villain, then he will continue to be the worst. Separately. I appreciate that.
1:09:54Jackie Oshry:So I think we actually all have to stop talking about him. Great. I need to move on to Chase. I appreciate that, like, people on the show have, like, short memories and, like, it's kind of hot. but the chase erasure um and like when they flash back to that clip of what he actually why macy hates him so much is because he went on a podcast and said mean things about all the girls
1:10:10Claudia Oshry:is his podcast he launched a podcast to just talk about it was called um
1:10:16Jackie Oshry:what was it called only guys something like really kind of weird um whatever when they flashed back to what he actually said about macy i had to what's it called only dads okay um I was floored when they played the clip of what he actually said. And like the fact that Macy just sort of like has to forgive him because he's back in the fold now. And we love him. And like, hi, he's so funny. Like, no, we don't. Like, I hate him. And I need to go back and watch like all the things he said. But what he said about Macy in particular, that the only reason she has like followers and cloud is because her baby daddy died.
1:10:49Jackie Oshry:And people feel sorry for her. That's like, who can even think of something so mean to say? Like, you're the devil. And that's not how I know Macy. That's also just factually incorrect. Like I know her from like being a mom talk.
1:11:00Claudia Oshry:Right. And so like these girls got a mom talk, got a show, are doing well. And so your reaction is, and you're not on the show. You're someone's, someone's. You were connected to it. You're someone who had a crush on the main character and eventually your ex-wife is on the show. And so your idea is to start a podcast talking about the show. Like that is a bad faith person. And I don't care that he's like the coolest and the funniest. It's like the coolest, funniest person doesn't do that.
1:11:24Jackie Oshry:Yeah. No, this chase like rebrand. I don't forget. like I thought that was an insane clip yeah oh my god
1:11:31Claudia Oshry:yeah it's gonna take a lot more than just to sit down and it is unfortunate the girls just have to forgive him I know because he's Jason he's so cool and he's just around now and you don't want to be having beef with someone all the time you have to let things go just being on a show like that's like Jen and Demi like Jen you have to let it go I don't even know what you're talking about anymore
1:11:47Jackie Oshry:oh me neither apparently I saw a clip and I zoomed right past it because I don't want to see but Jen and Whitney have a huge blow up in glam in the middle of Dancing with the Stars I don't know what it's about, but it seems like we'll get to the root of like they were clearly hating each other on Dancing with the Stars. And it started out so nice. Yeah, it did. I'm so curious. Like, I really am.
1:12:04Claudia Oshry:Yeah, but it seems like the friction between them is Demi. Jen is hung up on Demi and Whitney is Demi's best friend.
1:12:11Jackie Oshry:A lot of them have issues with Demi and Whitney's like navigating it quite a part deliciously. She is so gorgeous. Like her yellow dress in those confessionals with the red hair. She looks insane. And when they flash back to her first season when she had like the little blonde bob and she had just had a baby, I'm like, that's a different person. And I actually don't even feel like she had like a whole, you know, like a facelift. She just looks like somebody who was like, we were in the throes of having a baby, motherhood, breastfeeding and not a great haircut. And somebody like literally just told her to dye her hair this color.
1:12:39Jackie Oshry:And it changed her whole life. She's in her soft era.
1:12:41Claudia Oshry:And now she's going hard. She looks insane. I'm going hard soon, you guys. Yeah, I love that. I'm in my soft era. But I love my soft era. Whatever. Like. No, I love it. Like, I'll miss it. Yeah. When I'm going hard. I'll be like, remember the days when we were softy? beautiful these are soft days but in so many ways and thank god they're not televised you know they are look at us one two three four five six seven cameras no on like a scale like that you know yeah but look i mean but also the show makes me sad because i do feel like net net and yeah they have more money and success and fame and huge careers but like i don't feel like they're happier i feel like most of them are less happy except maybe for whitney yeah she seems to be handling it really well but even like macy and jacob are starting to crack i know mikaela and
1:13:26Jackie Oshry:mace jace but also mikaela not even i don't even think she cares enough about her husband to like let it impact her feelings i think just like her health and she just seemed i was actually i'm i don't know if her motives behind dropping the whitney stuff was because like it was received so poorly last season like she was so fabissina like so miserable when it came to whitney to the point that i think it endeared a lot of people to whitney who weren't even team whitney um or if it was like a genuine thing i'm glad she's like sort of letting go that she is much more likable this season but she just looks like somebody who's like deeply unhappy like and i think a lot of them like don't get to like honor the newborn time like they're literally walking around with three day
1:14:02Claudia Oshry:old babies yeah and that's also a part of the show that i like i do feel for them but like oh we're filming and i just had a baby the baby comes everywhere yeah oh they bring their babies ever they're always carrying a coffee which i love me too because that's how it is especially their breastfeeding like if you want to go anywhere you have to bring the baby and so they just bring the baby and I feel bad that they have to do that but it's nice that they're able to yes agreed I think
1:14:23Jackie Oshry:the show makes a lot of like accommodations and like supports that sort of but you're working so much you like some of it is just like you I don't know I just feel like they don't get to like
1:14:33Claudia Oshry:nest yeah no they don't and I'm sure they're like love what they're doing but I do feel like it's start it's like starting to wear on some of them and they're their lives like everyone thinks that's what you want oh my god it would be a dream to be on a show and all the fame and it's like but they're not happier. Their marriages are all deteriorating. Yeah. Their mental healths are deteriorating. They're doing so much all at once. They can't stop because look, their husband stopped working. Like they can't stop. It's all on them. They cannot. Yeah. And I feel bad for them. And it's not all it's cracked up to be.
1:15:04Claudia Oshry:No. And I think like Taylor is falling apart.
1:15:07Jackie Oshry:Oh yeah. I think for a lot of them, some of them have had actually a lot of them, Taylor, Macy, Michaela, Whitney have all been pregnant on the show or Whitney was like first season just had the baby
1:15:18Claudia Oshry:no and she then after she has been pregnant and remember she did the the pea stick in the cake
1:15:24Jackie Oshry:oh yeah of course okay so and then she had the baby right so they've all except for Jessie when Jessie was on the toast she said that like she started the show postpartum but I guess I don't know if she's like having more kids so like that era sort of behind her and I feel like she started she doesn't get enough credit she started the show with like a couple month old yeah but I feel like in terms of all them she's sort of positioned in like the best ish kind of way because i don't think she's planning on having more kids so like that era happened before the show like yes the very tail end of it was caught up in the um but i feel like that's just really hard yeah i think so too and now they don't have it oh and layla and miranda yeah are not having kids but but to me i don't know why i know i think they're all like the same there's no one they're all just castmates but to me miranda and layla feel like friends of yeah even though layla's the only one who like
1:16:09Claudia Oshry:moves things along. No, and Layla's like, and she has a lot of confessionals and a lot of conversations, but I agree. I feel like maybe because she started that way. She definitely started that way. As a friend of, yeah. And now it just seems like she's in that box, but she also doesn't get, like, she doesn't get Dancing with the Stars or Back to it. Like, Jen, Whitney, Taylor. Demi. What did Demi get? Oh, not get anything, but I think of her as like - They've all gotten, like, big opportunities. Then we have Demi and Jessie who are just cast members of the show, even though Demi is literally not a cast member.
1:16:35Claudia Oshry:That's true. She's a cast member. That's true. Macy and Michaela, they're having babies, but they are cast members of the show. I put them in with Jessie and... I agree. Yeah. And then it's just Miranda and Layla. And Miranda was late and gives nothing. And Layla started as a friend of. And so she just feels that way.
1:16:52Jackie Oshry:But she worked her way out. Like, she's actually low-key given us a lot. Yeah. I wonder if they'll get paid the same. Did you see that they're all executive producers? I did see that. I was meant to say that, too. When the first credits aired, it said executive producers, all seven or however many other names of the ladies. I love that. Yeah. That gives, like, that their agents all work together. I hope that they're all getting paid the same. It wouldn't be fair. Except maybe Taylor. And now, like, if they want Whitney back, they might have to pay her more. But that's where things get really complicated.
1:17:22Jackie Oshry:Jersey Shore famously all negotiated. And there were times where Snooki was clearly way more popular than Sammy. They all, the whole time, negotiated as a team.
1:17:29Claudia Oshry:It sets a really bad precedent also for the show. Like, with Real Housewives when Lisa Rinna's like, you know, Denise made$4 million. dollars bring four million dollars worth of right and then yeah and sometimes you can't and i feel like it's better for producers to pay them all the same they should all be paid really well when
1:17:43Jackie Oshry:they talk about i don't know if you're there yet part of the reason they're mad at to me is like before she like officially quits she's very picky and choosing like they all have to stay in a house together in la and she gets to stay at a hotel because she hates everyone and so it's like we're all showing up doing you know more work than you for a show that we're all on and they didn't say anything about money but maybe if they are all getting paid the same and we're doing way more than you filming way more scenes staying in a house and you don't even have to film at your hotel
1:18:06Claudia Oshry:that makes sense they do talk about money sometimes because the thing is to me and the agent and jesse and how we'll take her but we haven't heard anything since then yeah but i also like to me how can she stay in a house with like all of these people who hate her they need to figure out they had that kumbaya last season and they need to move forward or not why didn't she film for this season like what is she doing she's like done she's like quit she's a and she's not gonna be on next season i don't think so well she should be i like her well even when i don't like Like she's a good reality TV cast member.
1:18:34Claudia Oshry:Even when she's doing stuff that I don't like and I'm not on her team doesn't mean like. No. And she also has like a crazy husband, which is perfect. He's really scary.
1:18:40Jackie Oshry:Like I do not like that. When they were singing, were you okay? Oh my God. How have we not talked about this? Were you okay? No. What song were they singing again? True Colors. Yeah. What the fuck? And they didn't even say like what that was for. Was that just like an exercise to make themselves feel good? Or was that like to put out as a project? Maybe music is coming.
1:19:01Claudia Oshry:and like her yelling at him when she sounded worse than him like i was upset she sounded worse yeah oh i thought i was just focused on like him because i'm like oh well now he can't do
1:19:11Jackie Oshry:anything she's like flat you're totally flat and i see a true colors shining through i forgot about that thank you so much for bringing that up that was crazy like that was literally crazy and the
1:19:23Claudia Oshry:fact that he just like stood there and like took all the criticism when like if anybody was a good man Savannah no but like I just feel like it's like bottling up inside like you know what I mean no one can take all those shots from their partner if it was someone in the studio saying you're flat too much chest but like you're literally doing every take seeing your heart out and your
1:19:41Jackie Oshry:wife is like stupid ugly hate bad flat and I'm sorry the craziest part was she sounded just as bad as him like if not worse I didn't notice that I deeply resonated with her in the studio yelling at her husband that he sounded bad that was I'm just telling you that's coming out the other end that they aired that scene with literally no context. Like I didn't even know that they liked to sing. I didn't know that this was something they both do. I didn't know. I liked that they didn't share what this project was for, why they chose a Phil Collins song. Like the lack of context made the whole thing so fucking funny.
1:20:13Jackie Oshry:All I'll say is new music might be coming.
1:20:16Claudia Oshry:Tune in like next season. It also might not. She should go on The Masked Singer. Actually, that's a great idea. Yeah. Like, and I feel like she's going to go on. Great call. Clock it. What other shows are there? For singing. And for people, like Traders. Right, Traders, Dancing with the Stars, Masked Singer. Special Forces. I could see Taylor for Amy Paul in Special. No, she can't handle it.
1:20:39Jackie Oshry:But also, I don't know if they're only allowed to do ABC shows.
1:20:42Claudia Oshry:Well, I'm sure ABC would let them do other shows, but they're certainly going to start with the ABC shows. So what else does ABC have? In terms of competitions? Like, I feel like that's a... We need more. Yeah. And then, like, what happens once you've done all these shows?
1:20:55Jackie Oshry:like you ascend to the next level you do like the all-star yeah i guess like then what i don't know
1:21:01Claudia Oshry:like i guess it could take a couple years like for anyone to go like dylan effron like what's
1:21:04Jackie Oshry:he gonna do at a certain point yeah he's done a lot of them i'm worried traitors dancing with
1:21:09Claudia Oshry:the stars and what did we just say he's doing netflix is yeah um they're launching a show yeah what was it it's one of those house of cards yeah it was a house of cards for sure well we're gonna
