In short
The episode of The Upshot covers Arsenal’s Premier League title celebrations, including Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice partying outside the Emirates at about 5am and joking about their hangover.
Guests
none are clearly identified; it’s a panel of hosts (Jack, Zach, JP) discussing football and sports news. Key claims and notable examples: Arsenal’s celebrations looked bigger than past title wins, with Gabriel Jesus “shriek” style celebrations. The show plays “Regrettimate” by North London Forever singer (lyrics include a “that’s not coke… that’s K” line). A major segment claims Chelsea ownership interest: Lee Andrews (linked to Katie Price) allegedly “disappeared” in Dubai, with a FaceTime call where his hands were tied and he said “they’re coming back for me.” Online commenters doubt a kidnapping and suggest scams; a Sun journalist allegedly tried to invest money and received delayed/failed transfers. Other sports topics: Southampton expelled from Championship playoffs for spying; Hearts lose title chance to Celtic in the 87th minute; Cole Palmer hates cinemas; Montreal F1 strippers strike; Neymar makes the squad.

This week, on the show today, Saka and Rice's 5am bender, the Formula One stripper drought, and has Chelsea's con man bidder been kidnapped yeah hello I'm Jack hi Zach hello Jack hi JP hello boys how the devil are we very well very good yeah congratulations to Arsenal I think we should just start with that I actually wanted it so I'm happy yeah I'm kind of happy because someone other than City has won the title but Arsenal fans are hard work aren't they I think by August it's going to be the opposite it's going to be fucking annoying yeah when they're chanting but let them have their flowers Yeah, I'll give them it.
1:59I'll give them it. The celebrations did look good. Yeah. Didn't you think? Like 5 ,000 of them just outside the Emirates. Because I don't, like when they last won titles in the early noughties, I guess they won them like multiple times. I don't remember like street parties. No, I don't remember any, any title. Maybe they weren't. Yeah. I mean, I reckon because it was not on a match day, right? Because it was, because it was on, it was on like a Wednesday, Tuesday night. So there's kind of no, no like focal point for the actual band. So it's like, you got to go to the stadium. Yeah. when it's closed get down there they look good I thought and actually the moment because obviously Arsenal like you say they had this thing of like the players are just watching to see if Bournemouth can keep City out but the the moment that the full time whistle went it was actually looked fucking good the celebration's got a clip here
2:49yeah fair play to him fair play to him I don't know what I was expecting but it's good fair play
2:58yeah i don't know why i wouldn't expect them all to watch it together i really like uh yeah gabriel shriek proper fucking lost it
3:11yeah that's that noise is more like sort of morocca middle east north africa isn't it the one i just did yeah whereas his was more of a shriek they're sort of replicating the Vardy party when Leicester won it because they were all around Vardy's house, right? Which does have a bit more romance to it. Yeah, but they were doing like Skittles, Vodka and Balloons. I always thought the Vardy one was a bit disappointing. I remember thinking at the time because like Arsenal there are having it more. I don't know who cares but like I felt like they're having it more and also didn't you say the Vardy one that not all of the squad were invited?
3:44I think, I don't know if they were, maybe they were all invited but I don't think all of them were there. It looks fucking shit. It might be wrong. It doesn't come as any surprise. but there is something something more romantic about it being at his house like this because you saw as soon as it happened they had their like cameraman there it was all set up yeah they knew it it was made for it was made for TV news there but yeah I think they just turned up didn't they being in a front room at Vardy's was good but I actually thought this one was better genuinely but yeah I guess from Arsenal's perspective as well oh we've got the Vardy one here
4:19God look at the look at the uh chandelier christmas tree no i think that's just like that's just like day-to-day in the body household isn't it yeah yeah there's not that many of them all right yeah the first 11 plus plus one other so i guess from arsenal's perspective you've got to do it in the training ground because like you won't be there celebrate with like win the dog and yeah yeah all the all the others jeremy corbyn was there was he yeah he pitched at the celebration yeah was he having it. He was like, a fantastic day for North London. He's a big gooner, isn't he? Was he like having it?
4:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. Was Piers Corbin there? My favourite Corbin. Ian Wright was in there with the fans as well. They were like stripping his shirt off. Spraying champagne. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a national treasurer, isn't he? We haven't got many left. He's Kensal Reiser, isn't he? Yeah, he's our neighbour. Yeah. He also, he wore Dave Rowe Castle's shirt, you know, the Arsenal player who died. Oh, fucking sick. Yeah, he's a legend. Nice touch. Yeah. Yeah, I've got to say, it looked really fun and I guess Zach you were saying it's Bank Holiday weekend coming up yeah Sunday's gonna be good the Gunnasaurus Rex is gonna have a big one yeah there was I mean North London Forever was being sung I'm sure although it's gonna get boring I reckon another one of Louis Dunford's songs could have fitted the party a bit better Regrettimate you know that we have played it before can we stick Regrettimate on judging by because like Declan Rice and Saka and a few others rocked up at the stadium at like 5am and Declan Rice in particular looked pretty like he's going he's going to have a bit of regret of it the next day because he was on the beers he was on the beers Declan Rice said about five years ago that he never tasted beer he has now yeah but they were yeah they were outside the stadium with fans hit them who else was there Eze was there Eze was there Saka Saka yeah Saka and Rice it looked very early this morning it was 5am which like I'm not suggesting they're on the bag.
6:20I don't think Saffik has got that in the locker. Beers and Regretamine are a bad combo. I think that's just adrenaline and joy, isn't it? But can we listen to Regretamine? Yeah, of course. Any excuse? For people who don't know, he sings North London Forever, but this is our favourite of his track.
6:37So serious.
6:40JP:On a night out in a squat rave with my mates when we were young We were all pinging on the jellies or rubbing powder on our gums Next to geezers having seizures We cut shapes beneath the lights The DJ's blaring anthems We ain't going on tonight As creatures stagger past me Gurning, staring into space I have a breather in the car See me ears a-buzzin' from the bass When a friend of mine racks up a line And says, bruv, this gear's insane So with the rolled-up score of his iPhone 9 I sniff the line away Been there before this is your North London forever isn't it coming forever whatever the weather yeah but the song goes on to basically there's a bit where he goes that's not coke that's sorry was he said that's yeah that's not coke that's K oh fuck can we play it on Jack's worried that we won't be able to have this for rights reasons well it itched me like a rocket I said I can't feel my tongue and that gear is double powerful my face is going numb But every word of speech was slurred And as my legs began to sway He said that weren't a line of people, bro That was a line of chains Well, as we know, that is an easy mistake to make, isn't it?
8:01Big names have made that mistake Maybe on a Patreon segment we'll have to talk about that We'll talk about that, yeah That was gossip too spicy to share Big time I'm picturing you and your mates And me At your wedding Singing that Arm in arm like the Arsenal fans singing North London Forever. I want a line of bugle, bruv. That were a line of cane. It's quite a good song. Yeah. It's got a lot of it's got a lot of North London Forever. You can see his style. He knows his target audience. Obviously it's got that twee North London thing. I do think he's so associated with Arsenal now though. I feel like just because he's got that song like people probably don't tend I don't tend to like him just because he's like so associated with Arsenal.
8:43Yeah, that's the trade-off for him, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah, he's all right. But yeah, anyway, fair play to them. We took the piss out of Arteta a lot. You know, the pickpocket stunt and the dog call win. But actually, I think I've learned a lot about, like, leadership and management from him. And that's why I'm unveiling our new upshot dog, which I've named number one in the Spotify charts. Come here, number one. Pebbles. just for everyone this is actually my dog yeah this is our dog 1 million downloads
9:19if you visualise it we've renamed JP's dog in honour of our goal come here downloads come here 1 million downloads come here I've heard worse in the park yeah no this is pickles slash pickles this is pickles yeah yeah is it because you said it was pickles but she can be whoever she wants the name tag says pickle she can be whoever she wants doesn't know his own dog's name which I find a bit sus Pickle is the name of the the dog who found the World Cup trophy I know and my mum actually named her and when I asked her did you know about that and they're from the same town as my parents as well and she was like no I don't know if I can close yeah yeah yeah coincidence popular dog name I guess yeah true the dog that found so the World Cup trophy got stolen during the 66 World Cup in England and this dog found it in a bush called Pickle and then what I didn't know is that the dog died in mysterious circumstances.
10:14Everyone involved died in mysterious circumstances. The thief, one of the other people involved, and the dog, the dog was going, the dog accidentally hanged itself on its lead on a walk. Accidentally. On a walk. It wasn't in its kennel. Yeah, in its kennel. And the CCTV was switched off for 15 minutes. It's okay, Pickles. That's not happening to you. I'm not sure Pickle killed himself. Yeah, it turned up and he's grinsed. Yeah, did Pickle knew too much? Yeah. Yeah. Not sure this dog knows too much. But yeah, anyway, yeah, I've got a dog, got a dog on the pod today. Yeah. In honor of Arsenal. Zach's really, uh, got a bit of a soft spot.
10:51yeah, I generally, I mostly enjoy videos of animals. Yeah. Unfortunate scrapes, but actually having a real life one. Yeah. It's quite nice. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm generally, I'm actually not that much of a dog person generally, but I'm a fan of, uh, 1 million here. Little downloads. have you seen the mental news about katie price's husband he's bought chelsea but the bid has been accepted his bid for chelsea the money is there he's your new chairman yeah yeah so this is this is the guy who claimed about six weeks ago that he'd put in a two billion pound bid for chelsea and was in talks with bluco not sure about that uh anyway katie posted a video a few days ago claiming that Lee Andrews, his name, has gone missing in Dubai and potentially been kidnapped.
11:47Definitely didn't go into her, get the login for her online banking and then do a runner. So we've spoken about Lee before on the podcast, but just a reminder in case anyone missed it. He is the archetype of a scammer. So Lee and Katie, they got married back in January. three days after they met uh he proposed at this this swanky hotel in dubai spelled out will you marry me katie and rose petals uh she posted these pics online at which point another woman popped up to say that he proposed to her in the same hotel in the exact same fashion uh about four months earlier his two ex-wives branded him a narcissistic scammer and a lying swindler one of them said that he'd faked a serious illness to get her sympathy but if he did the DJ Kerry iPhone cable up the nose.
12:39Didn't he say he was flying to Bali with a serious health condition? Yeah. And no one could help him? Yeah. Yeah. Apart from, unless you are going to have to transfer me 200 grand. Other lies he's been caught out on include but are not limited to owning a flying car company that's supported by Elon Musk. That is true. Working as an advisor to the Labour Party and speaking every known language. All of them. All of them. And yeah, claimed that he'd put in this bid for Chelsea. no official statement from the club yet on that so we'll keep you posted we assume that they're currently mulling it over but the money is there the money is the money is obviously there so so yeah they'll just they'll get back to him i'm sure uh despite that questionable track record uh katie did tie the knot with him uh must have been a slightly complicated marriage because he was barred from leaving dubai because he's accused of forging his ex-wife's signature but you know it did seem like they'd they'd managed to find a way to work around that because last week lee and katie were due to appear together on good morning britain unfortunately lee did not show up for that appearance flight delayed uh well we'll come on to what what happened katie understandably she was quite pissed off about that you know it's a bit embarrassing supposed to be on this show with your husband and then he just doesn't show up proving that he's not a combat really really need you today come on yeah ed balls is grilling her now um so yeah she was she was quite pissed off about this she posted a video being like yeah i'm livid at lee but then on saturday morning she posted another video to her YouTube channel explaining that she'd not heard from Lee since then.
14:30The last time she heard from him, he was supposedly at the Dubai border three days earlier, waiting to catch his flight. Got a clip of the video here explaining that. The truth is, Lee has been missing for three days. The last time I heard from Lee was Wednesday night at 10 o 'clock. He was trying to go through the border in Dubai to get on a flight to me. I saw a great comment online. It's like your nan getting conned by a new lover in Tunisia. It really is. Anyway, in that video, Katie, she then spends about five minutes talking about how she's really concerned because her messages haven't been going through.
15:21She hasn't been getting the little blue ticks. After that, she then drops what I would consider to be quite an important bit of information. Got the clip. The unsettling thing for me is the fact when I last heard from him, he FaceTimed me. He had a hood on and he said, I've just been captured, arrested or whatever I can't remember the exact word he said but he had ties around his hand not handcuffs and a hood and he said look they're coming back for me they're coming back for me that is the last FaceTime call I had with him and then his phone went dead at 10.03 She only says this six minutes into the video Six minutes into the video She drops that the last time she spoke to him He had a hood over his head His hands were tied and he's saying They're coming back to get me The plot thickens I swear before she said he was queuing for a flight He said he was at the border After that his phone went off Messages weren't going through Then six minutes into the video His hands were tied and he said they're coming to get me That's quite important Get that in early Katie You've buried the lead there Clearly never been to journalism school Katie Get the hands tied Get the important information Then we'll get on to the blue ticks And the messages You've been introduced to his fucking dad Yeah Obviously There are also a few questions thrown up By Katie's version of events A why are his kidnappers allowing him to be alone with his phone and just make calls to her yeah ransom alone could be that he's very good at negotiating true he's very charming yeah B how is he making calls with FaceTime if his hands are tied and C would you not try and call the police or something in that situation true but I think a man in his position can't really call the police because he's probably wanted everyone And there's some suggestion that it might be the police arresting him, right?
17:44Yeah. It might be a kidnapping. It might be an arrest. Yeah. Because I also read you're getting a lot of trouble in Dubai if you kind of fake this sort of stuff because it wastes police time. Yeah. Oh, really? It's wasting a lot of people's time. I suppose you might as well carry on. Basically it's a bag, really.

19:13I would say that the comments section in Katie's video is not sympathetic to Lee's plight. The general gist of the comments is, Katie, do not send this man any ransom money. Because it does feel like that's coming next. This is straight out of the Tindless Windler handbook, I think. This is expert level, though, isn't it? Faking a kidnapping. Do you think that's exactly what's going on here? it's obviously possible it's either that or he's got the flying car working it's coming money is coming I've done it ring E-Long get him on the phone I've done it it's also strange that just after he puts this bid in for Chelsea he disappears yeah it's mental isn't it because I'm sure Roman Abramovich knows some I feel like Katie and him are in it together they know what's going on I'm wondering that yeah it's just too I like the Roman Abramovich theory though he knows some bad dude yeah I saw there's a new theory developing in the online comments which is that actually he doesn't exist and he's AI I mean most of his shit is AI and Katie's just doing she's in on it yeah I don't know his entire his entire trip to London like last summer is just him like AI'd outside with Elon Musk and Kim Kardashian in a flying car yeah oh wow yeah that is the question I think I mean we could be eating our words later if he doesn't turn up true are you saying basically it's a con the question is what exactly who's in on the yeah basically uh the the sun the newspaper also not particularly sympathetic towards lee so one of their journalists uh clemmy clemmy something uh she decided as part of her research i guess to wire lee a thousand pounds uh which he promised to invest in his whatever his money making scheme flying cars and make her loads of cash so he's he then sent her a load of voice notes they got quite close over like about a month or so generally how they work it's changing it's changing a lot of messages it's just getting married to them yeah he sent her loads of voice notes about how the money that she'd sent him is now trebled and that she's gonna transfer he's gonna send it over to her any day now he sent her a screenshot actually of a bank transfer for almost three grand never landed in her account that money and he then explained that there were delays in getting the money to her because of some trade checks in Abu Dhabi slowing down the process.
21:42What does that even fucking mean? The money's just being steam cleaned. Western Union are doing some updates to their technology software. You were saying it's like your nan gets scammed by a Tunisian waiter. It's literally that. His bank account's not working at the moment so he needs to borrow mine. He then, at some point, after she'd already sent him this money and then not delivered her returns, he tried to get her to invest another 50 grand with him and Katie. 50 grand, which he promised to double. Yeah. He said that him and Katie had already put down like 40 grand and he needed the balance or something like that.
22:22Yeah. Quite a weird element to this is that him, this Sun Journalist and Katie are quite good mates. This is what I mean. in the way that like a Sun Journalist friends Katie Price that friendship is slightly transactional to what extent that is a friendship but I think Katie Price is more switched on than she looks so either they're in it together or she's just completely been fucked over yeah yeah I mean I the the Sun Journalist is definitely in camp two of that yeah so they what's the name again Clemmie Clemmie something she wrote in her story Clemmie Moody he is not dead he is not in jail and he has not been detained instead he is squatting in a slightly run down villa frantically planning a route out of this ginormous hole he appears to have buried himself in and is understood to be liaising with his few trusted contacts on a burner phone right what's the hole marrying Katie Price I mean I think there's several ex-wives that are out yeah the internet he's basically scammed they're making a documentary about him like Tinder Swindler style yeah they must be licking their fucking lips if you are Tinder Swindor why would you get with someone as high profile as Kate Price surely you know your fucking cards are going to fall it probably would have could have been helpful but yeah it's too much or is Katey the she in on it is she in on the documentary she's part of she's a what do you call it like an undercover agent she's an undercover agent who's getting him to scam her that would be such a good Netflix series I think she's doing it for publicity I think she that's what I mean she needs to do it in publicity she needs warming up we're fucking talking about her yeah yeah yeah so I don't think he's I don't think anyone thinks he's been kidnapped he might be scamming her yeah apparently Interpol are after him now as well really what for I mean where do you start I still think my favourite lie is I speak every language ever yeah including the language of love alright so we're just we're waiting now wait for decent I mean this this could age very bad if he's I think that is very unlikely but fair enough there's Boy Who Cried Wolf right yeah yeah forgive me for not believing you mate yeah but yeah we could look like absolute scumbags maybe the money's gonna land yeah it could be by the way the other thing is she offered us an interview with him and we should have done it yeah so we did a reel about him and Katie Price said why don't you have him on your show imagine if we get the exclusive should we I'm pleased to present Lee Andrews
25:01maybe we should actually follow up on that yeah I mean it might be a bit harder to get the interview now Kate I know you've been discussing some major publications about this interview but her doing Good Morning Britain is kind of like taking him to meet the parents isn't it like boyfriend that no one really trusts yeah we'll see actually if you are looking to disappear off the face of the earth and just leave a quick FaceTime update revealing your kidnap, you're going to need one thing. What are you going to need? Cheap data abroad. Cheap data abroad. That's right. And Say Lee is the answer for that.
25:35Because I think, whether Lee is in genuine trouble or if he's currently hiding out in the Cayman Islands, either way, it's going to need data. Yeah, definitely. To get help, to get Bitcoin. If you're bored, you might want to watch, I mean, yeah, you might want to watch content that's not available in your region. You might want to knock up some AI pictures of yourself. Yeah. Yeah. For using graphics. or whatever. Yeah, to make your trades. If you want to set up a Facebook profile and slowly defraud a lonely granny over the course of several months until she hands over a pension pot, you'll also need cheap data abroad.
26:09I'm pretty sure he's not in UK waters at the moment. That's the one thing you can say. All leads back to Saley, really. Saley is, of course, an eSIM service app brought to you by the makers of NordVPN. And you just download it once and it gives you cheap data for 200 countries some of which Andrews is prohibited from entering how many countries are there in the world I thought it was like 190 I know it was actually like 216 yeah well anyway there you go yeah he speaks every language actually yeah so he probably does he needs it a lot of them he needs it and if you're in a flying car you're crossing borders all the time you're gonna be changing network provider global yeah this is your answer Lee you never have to get a new sim I reckon he gets through sim cards out of rave he's changing his number twice a day he's one a day in a anyway this is the cheapest easiest way to use data abroad and there's a 15 % discount to Upshot listeners so yeah just go to the app store and download S-A-I-L-Y and use code Upshot and you'll get 15 % off and I've put the details in the episode description box for you Lee yeah we'll keep people abreast on that one I am nervous that we are going to look like the blokes who laughed about a guy if a bit of his earlobe turns up are you switching sides to believing him yeah to be honest I'm not saying he deserves to get kidnapped but I reckon he's got a lot of enemies I think he deserves to be prosecuted by legal means in a free and fair trial alright do you see Pep's probably going is he it's a bit weird we've been obviously everyone's been saying all season that he's gonna leave and then because they didn't win the league you thought maybe he'd stay but just before the Bournemouth game it leaked weird time but weird way it's been sort of semi he hasn't confirmed it but it's been leaked enough that it sounds yeah but then he did also say before or after that game that I've still got a year on my contract I need to speak to my chairman it's weird because I'd have thought maybe he's gonna announce it in the next couple of days but I think I think he would want a big farewell at the stadium they're playing at home on Sunday maybe that's why they've done it a week early to give them time to get the proper farewell done and stuff yeah but they haven't announced it but would he not want to win the league before he leaves I guess maybe that's quite a big thing to hold out for I mean he's won he's won a couple I want the full pep in tears you know when Aguero left and he did that we cannot replace him I've actually got a clip of it you cannot replace me he's literally crying he's so nice It's so nice.
28:54Is it because of the human being as well as the footballer? Yeah, he had me a lot.
29:05It's been the challenge for you. You've had to do it replacing totems of this football club. We cannot replace it. We cannot. I mean, I'll rate that though. I'll tell you who they won't be getting that amount of emotion out of. Maresca because he is fucking boring he's boring and it sounds like he's coming it does yeah actually Aguero's dad accused accused Pep of like faking those tears oh really yeah he was like really angry with him for like forcing him out really yeah so maybe he's just a really good actor but I think we'd all like to see that sort of tearful yeah a bit of emotion I love it yeah yeah also begs the question are we getting Mourinho v Pep part 2 probably not because Hansi Flick's done so well.
29:51They love Hansi Flick at Barca. He was reported to be buying a house in Barca this week, wasn't he? His wife's been over, yeah. And he's from. True, yeah, he just wants to go home. I don't know. I think most likely it's a bit of a sabbatical. Yeah. And then... Yeah, where does he go? Then the England job. Everyone says the England job. Yeah. PSG, maybe. Yeah, he's done it everywhere, hasn't he? I feel like he's got... Yeah, Barca back is the only club job I could really see. Yeah, I think he has to take a national team job now. him with Spain it's just it's not fair really it's a fucking silly you know last time he took a sabbatical after the Barcelona job he took a year out moved to New York which is quite a good move I think it's like just experience something quite different also is he he could probably live a relatively normal life in New York in comparison to Europe yeah well funny you mention that because there's this amazing story that basically he enrolled his son in this football team on the Upper East Side his son's 11 so just like kids kids games and he would go and watch them and apparently one time the ref didn't show up so pep stepped in and ref the game there's video footage of it what the fuck um but anyway the um it's it's pep cardiola obviously so he he can't resist starting to give them tactical instructions you know by the end he's like and he's like barking those instructions and apparently all these American parents are clueless about who this bloke is.
31:16And they're all getting really pissed off that he's like, the ref is trying to, yeah, the ref's trying to manage the team. Yeah. And so at halftime, they all like surround him and have a go at him. They call him like a know it all. And, and they force him off. Have to get a different ref in. So good. You pep Guardiola. They're like, no, Debbie can do it. Can you stop that? Pam, you, you referee. Can you stop that tone with my son? Yeah. You can imagine those parents proper fucking pushy. Yeah. so maybe he'll go for some more anonymity I think he'd struggle to get that in New York now yeah he's fucking massive yeah yeah where could he go North Korea yeah England job trust me he would be that would be amazing he's well liked obviously the other huge football story from this week is that Southampton have been booted out at the championship playoffs obviously they got caught spying on Middlesbrough of their opponents in the playoff semifinals but they've now been kicked out and Middlesbrough have replaced them in the playoff final against Hull on Sunday is it or Saturday at the time of recording Southampton are preparing an appeal which I don't rate their chances with to be honest because they've also admitted that they spied on Ipswich and Oxford earlier in the season who knows yeah how many more if they maybe this was just what they did every week they did go on this amazing run after their new manager came in it's like what is their secret secret intern I guess if they're doing it like every week that is an issue and it is actually against the rules because last week I was kind of suggesting that it wasn't but apologies it is against the rules even if it is in a public place yeah I think so clearly they've shut them out of the playoffs I'd be fucked off if I was Millwall like what just because you played the cheats Middlesbrough you get to go through yeah true yeah start again Millwall against Hull that's what we always see I did see a fantastic rumor that Middlesbrough have started selling binoculars in the club shop.
33:18But then like what I did really enjoy about this is how smug the Southampton fans were at the at the semifinal against Middlesbrough after it all come out that the fans turned up in like they had like bushes and twigs on their heads. Was that not Middlesbrough fans doing that? No, Southampton fans taking the piss off. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And did you see when Southampton scored in that game, Taylor Harwood-Bellis celebrated by doing the binoculars in one of the Middlesbrough players' faces. We've got a clip of it here. You might have missed from the game itself on Tuesday night. Taylor Harwood-Bellis celebrated Shea Charles' winner by running up to one of the Middlesbrough players and doing the binoculars gesture with his hands.
34:03That's very, very poor form. Yeah. Yeah. Wanker. Also, really funny that now, obviously, Also the Southampton There's rumours the Southampton players might Sue their own club They're like fucking them over but presumably Taylor Hall with Benes' case is a bit weaker now Did you object to it at the time? Yeah you can't back out now son I was livid You should have seen I was so annoyed with them That's fine Can we just show you this clip? Yeah I'm kind of there for it Really like it's It's obviously it's a really harsh punishment and maybe the players have been a bit hard done by because they presumably didn't have that much of a say in it but still like is no one's gonna do it again right i get that but like bielsa got a slap on the wrist when he was doing it at least i think they only openly admitted to it i think someone said that they only introduced the rule in response to the bielsa thing i think but i have got this wrong before right yeah i mean Yeah, if they're doing it all season, it's a bit like...
35:09And I think given how smug they were, it's very funny. Phil from Millwall. They've thrown the book at him. A replay would have been good as well. Yeah. Needless to say, though, Middlesbrough fans are loving it. I really enjoyed the advert from a Caribbean restaurant in Middlesbrough. You know, obviously the famous picture of the intern, the Southampton intern hiding behind a tree with his camera. they've recreated that but a guy in a Middlesbrough shirt runs up and throws a plate of I don't even know what it is in his face very good also learned from the comments there that there is a Caribbean restaurant in Middlesbrough called Rasta Pasta nice sounds excellent wonder what it does yeah sounds great moving on Hearts fuck's sake I mean they were always gonna fuck it you knew it I knew it the whole world knew that they were going to mess up this huge chance.
36:05Hearts led the Scottish Premiership since September. It's fucking mental. They needed a point away at Celtic on the final day of the season. It would be their first title since 1960. First non-Old Firm title win since the 80s. 85, I think. And they fucked it in the 87th minute. It was actually gutting. Yeah. It was heart-wrenching watching this. 87th minute. It felt like the goal was coming before that. To be honest, before half-time when Celtic, they got a penalty didn't they I'm sorry yeah got that penalty and equalised you were like I think maybe it's not it's not heart's day but to get within sort of you know six seven minutes yeah it's very brutal obviously they lost 3-1 in the end to be fair they actually came four minutes closer than their last tilt at a league crown when in 1986 they needed a draw on the final day to seal the championship but they fell behind in the 83rd minute and lost the title on goal difference at least you're getting slightly better every time yeah four minutes better Celtic won that year as well Celtic also won that so it's yeah it was it was sad yeah fucking hell that one I feel like maybe was even worse because I think they were playing Dundee on the final day of the season it was like come on if you can't get a point yet it's Dundee yeah maybe Dundee were decent there back then the old firm weren't as dominant right yeah true whereas now it's like yeah yeah and obviously the Celtic fans were typically magnanimous so they invaded the pitch before the final whistle because there was a third goal I thought this was really out of order.
Read the full transcript
37:33At least get it through to the final whistle and let the Hearts players go and celebrate. Not celebrate, but see their fans at the end. I can't decide if it's really out of order or also quite fun. It's a bit of both. There was a thing on Reddit where obviously Celtic released a statement to say that we're really sorry. And someone was like, why are Celtic fans like this? And someone put a report from Stirling University saying that there's more cocaine than alcohol in the Scottish Premiership. And that's why they're also fucking charged up. and after Motherwell last week I can believe it do you know what I mean yeah yeah yeah some good stuff yeah some good stuff up in Scotland sponsors perks yeah but yeah Celtic's 14th title in 15 seasons yeah I find it hard if I was if I was a Celtic fan I really think I would want someone else to win it at this point maybe not Rangers not mental like as a neutral neutral really in Scottish football yeah you are it's just like if Celtic can have that much of a shit season and still win the league that is like is it really a fun league it reminded me of when you know the American women's team in the World Cup they pounded like Thailand or something like 20-0 and they were celebrating the 19th and 20th goals like they just scored the winner in the Champions League final it's just like how are you that excited?
38:52but on the other hand the circumstances were very funny so I can see why it would be really fun you just want something to disrupt the status quo of that fucking old firm shit. I half love it. And obviously the old firm, just part of what's funny about it is this aspect that they just love it. Actually, amazing story from Dwayne, our shotter in chief in Glasgow, who said that there was a house party in Glasgow where for a bit of background entertainment, they stuck on FIFA. You know, you can just make the computer, play the computer, simulated game. Celtic v Rangers. Stuck it on just like a bit of a joke.
39:24But apparently very quickly, the whole party was just crowded around this TV cheering and apparently actual scraps broke out. So good. That's fucking insane. Has that story also ended up I think Kevin Bridges did a joke about it. Yeah. So I don't know if Dwayne heard it from him or vice versa. Dwayne said his friend was at the house party and his friend had told Kevin Bridges about this story and Kevin then turned it into a joke. Just covering our arses there in case you think we made that up. They're quite intense up there aren't they? Yeah I love it. Actually yeah you've got a story on that front haven't you?
39:57I did. I've got an amazing voice note I'll show you. But I should probably say that we are officially launching the Gossip Line this week, fellas. We are. Finally. Longer way ahead. Which basically means you can send your Gossip straight to us. Straight to you. Straight to me. 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The JP Gossip Hotline. Yeah, not sure I signed that off, but the Gossip Hotline is now live, so crack on. And we're kicking off this week with a mate of mine who is a huge Celtic fan. who sent me this voice note last week. I have a good story for you for the upshot. I was reciting it to Baker there and I thought, you know what, JP, I love this.
40:37Some material for the tour, you know. Basically, my dad's mate, a group of them went out to Australia about 10 years ago for Celtic pre-season. Used to use it as an excuse for a piss-up. And they're going from one city to another through the outback of Australia. and uh we're down this highway and on the side of the highway they see a kangaroo land there and they stop the bus stop the bus and they pull up and this kangaroos land they're motionless and they're like oh it's dead so they're like let's get photos with it so they basically hoist this kangaroo up and put a fucking salty top on the kangaroo and minutes later turns out the kangaroo he's not sleeping it's just resting in the shade kangaroo wakes up and kicks kicks him out and bounces off into the fucking desert wearing a salty top so imagine being that person you know you're sitting chilling and just in the distance a kangaroo bouncing towards you on a salty top somewhere in the Australian outback there's just a kangaroo in a salty top that's so good that's raised a few questions obviously kangaroos have quite short arms so that kangaroo ain't getting that Celtic top off is it yeah see that's more Zach's kind of animal story isn't it one hand stroking have you got any dog I'm sure you can get a dog Celtic kick yeah we could do that's so good I love that yeah so I reckon that kangaroo is somewhere in the outback watching the old firm do you think some Rangers fan is going to release one as well do you know sometimes you see these kangaroos kangaroos like boxing each other yeah get rangers and rangers and rangers and i mean there's few places more remote on earth than the middle of the australian outback yeah happen to make it into there on some lonely trek that'd be fucking amazing uh anyway we are loving these voice notes and uh we want more so send us your gossip send us your stories send us your funnies we want it all so uh the gossip line number is 07354 079 834 uh i'll say that again 07354 079 834 yeah and we'll put a qr code on screen yeah so save that number in your phone yeah message it now if you've got any funny encounters with sports stars funny stories yeah animals wearing football shirts.
43:08Yeah. Anything. No rude. Mostly just funny animal videos. I think we also just funny night out stories. I mean, ideally involving sport, but also. Whatever. Anything like that. We want to hear it. Save it. JP. JP's hotline. FA Cup final was a bit of a damn squib though, wasn't it? Yeah. Were you there? Didn't go. Watched it. Actually. Watched it with me, didn't he? Oh. Hang on. He was watching it. I couldn't believe this. He was watching it on his own in the pub. I just wanted to go out for a bit of atmosphere and I text a group and said, is anyone about? And I really wasn't expecting this, but Jack said, yeah, I'm around.
43:41Oh, you're on atmosphere. I mean, I think we talked about work the entire time. He turned up with his laptop, a clipboard, and talked to me about work for an hour. Let's talk Q3, shall we? Let's gossip hotline. How are we going to launch it? I want to say a few KPIs. Trying to watch the FA Cup final, mate. But yeah, it was a bit of a damn squib. Especially after the Hearts thing, which happened earlier in the day. We were all like quite gutted about that. And then, yeah, it felt a bit flat. That's not the kind of FA Cup final I want. You need a romantic team. Like, I guess Chelsea could have been that, but you were saying the fans were protesting before.
44:19Protesting before and it was a bit flat. Blueco out. Blueco out again. It's Lee Andrews in. I don't know, just like Chelsea and City in an FA Cup final, you're sort of like at the end of the season, if either of them have won it, if they only won that, then you're a bit like, it's a bit of a disappointing season. You need underdog. Crystal Palace. Was it Crystal Palace City last year? That was a good final. If Chelsea liked their owners and weren't miserable, I think that could have been quite a fun one. Caretaker manager somehow does it. If Lee Andrews was at the wheel, people are going to love it.
44:50Katie Price thinks Chelsea won it.
44:55You want some money for my parade celebration? For the open top bus. I need to get a shirt. Is there a chance you transfer to 90 quid? how much is a shirt 20k can you send it in bitcoin um cap's off quite a weird season for Cole Palmer yeah he's been very up and down very up and down I am pleased to report that off the pitch he's still reliably delivering gems though um so he revealed this week just before the game he did an interview with Sky Sports where he revealed that he hates the cinema here are his reasons what was the last film you watched in the cinema I don't watch films and I hate the cinema.
45:35Why do you hate the cinema, Carl? I've got reasons. Do you want to say any reasons? I want to hear the reasons. Right. One, the TV's too big. Two, the TV's too loud. Yeah, thank you. Three, the snacks are so expensive. Four. Yeah, they are a joke. Honestly, if you're a cinema owner, it's a joke. Mate. I'm four. You've just... There's loads of other people there. I know. It is a bugbear, isn't it? When people are eating popcorn, you're here. And you've got to be quiet. So, yeah. There's my five reasons why cinema's rubbish. It's the cinema. Yeah. He's on 200 grand a week. Surely he can afford some popcorn.
46:08I could see it as a... Being Cole Palmer going to the cinema must be quite an annoying experience. Yeah. Too many people. Yeah. Just love that you're getting hassled. Yeah. Just love that he calls it the TV. The TV's too big. I'm also surprised because he really strikes me as the sort of guy who loves nothing more than slurping down a Tango ice blast in front of like Transformers 4 or something. do you know what I mean he's got quite an action film fan quality yeah he's getting some nachos isn't he yeah sort of like you used to find in blockbusters like asking how many people die in a horror film before he rents it how many people die in this and actually speaking of coal and fizzy drinks I did hear a really good story about him recently he's got a massive deal with Coca-Cola like sponsorship deal it's some mad money like sort of 100 million over 10 years they've like really backed him for the long term and apparently on day one first shoot of this like decade long relationship, Coca-Cola people on the shoot were like, alright Cole if you want to just come stand in front of the camera and just do your cold celebration and he just goes nah, not doing it we really need you to do this it's kind of why we got the deal in place he's like I'm not doing it apparently it took ages to talk him into doing it it's a hundred mil cold, you just need to do it it's a cold drink, did you get it?
47:26nah, nah man, cooked that was so good now sandwich between Miami and Monaco in the F1 calendars it's always been tough for the Canadian Grand Prix to pull in seedy punters who splash their cash on magnums of grey goose and lap dancers and now there's been a fresh blow for the Canadians because Montreal strippers are going on strike on race weekend there'll be no fresh blow I'll show them no It was a real hit to the local economy. It's basically part of this long running dispute that the strippers have had with the bosses of strip clubs there, which I won't bore you with all the details. They basically want to be classed as proper employees rather than freelancers.
48:14Contractors. Exactly. And apparently Grand Prix weekend is the biggest in the calendar. Second biggest just after the Maple Syrup Festival. and they are really hitting hitting their bosses where it hurts by striking this weekend so yeah there's going to be some pretty gutted sleazy nouveau riche petrol heads it could surely strip as an F1 yeah that's like the late night entertainment after you watch the race in it there's definitely a contingent F1 fans like that are there also sort of nerds who are just there yeah I think there's quite a lot of that I think you've got your nerds and then your lads who just really love strippers and brasses.
48:53Yeah. It feels, feels, I guess for, for a sport where you travel all around the world, usually on your own. Yeah. To quite like swanky destinations. Yeah. Miami and Monaco. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm quite looking forward to seeing Eddie Arvone crossing the picket line.
49:11Yeah. They're going to be, they're scabs. They're strippers who don't strike. Scab, scab, scab, scab.
49:23yeah it reminded me as well of that do you remember the mega brothel in Cologne do I we went remember JP almost never came out a mate of mine went to score some drugs in there once and he didn't know it was well apparently he didn't know it was a brothel and he came back the next morning and was like every floor is themed oh really he's like every floor you go on It's a different type of experience. So you've got like trans, gay, straight, MILFs, all you can fuck. Oh, it's like porn categories. Yeah, yeah, yeah. According to... How niche does it get? Is there an anime floor? Real life red tube.
50:06According to a story at the time, there was one floor that must have been particularly fruity because it was occupied by Chinese spies. Really? So apparently, yeah, this was a story at the time when loads of these England fans were like booking into this hotel. And they were basically worried that some of them might get recruited by Chinese spies. It was a hotbed of activity for Chinese spies. While they're getting a 40-year-old blow. I don't know. Barry from Middlesbrough is going to spill his state secrets after 15 steins of beer and a 40-year-old blowjob. Yeah. I mean, you know, Post and up People do sort of They get quite honest Yeah Apparently it's like A legitimate business It's legal over there Yeah it's legal What are the Chinese Spies doing there?
50:57I guess it's a good cover Is that the Chinese floor? Yeah Maybe How tall is this building? Seven floors Apparently it's pink One of the floors Is Asian Yeah yeah Maybe Asian That would make a lot of sense Is there a hentai floor? Is there a what? Hentai Hentai basement We'll go for your birthday Yeah You did a season there Didn't you? You said you did a season at Pasha No Cologne No Cologne A season at Pasha Because it is a hotel It's a hotel It's a hotel Restaurant There's bars The drinks are affordable I don't For the England fans who weren't Were less interested in having a view of Cologne's stunning Gothic cathedral That was the mega brothel In the suburbs Yeah are there any World Cup teams Being based in like Nevada Yeah That's where you'd find the equivalent Yeah Tommy Tuchel wanted us there in Nevada weirdly we've come to one state where prostitution is legal I think we're going to pop just over the Mexican border alright finally see Neymar only made the fucking squad didn't he he's in Richarlison's not John Pedro's not the second best striker in the Premier League probably this year I think Igor Tiago who is in the squad no I'm not having it Well, Neymar's in.
52:15Apparently they've come to an agreement that he's going to be mostly bench-based. He's a vibes man. Yeah, he's the Jordan Henderson. He's doing the card tricks. And I did see a video of Neymar celebrating. I think it might be his lookalike. There's this clip on Instagram showing Neymar like on a bog, having a dump and all the fans celebrating with him.
52:50He's firing fireworks out of the toilet cubicle. Which you could see Neymar doing. Sorry, is this celebrating him making the squad? Yeah, this is the Neymar squad celebration.
53:06It is, of course, the work of Aigon Oliveira, his friend of the pod and his lookalike. Yeah. I feel like Neymar at the World Cup is going to be hard work for Brazil so I'm happy they bought him he's box office you want him there yeah and I also I think that they don't have the best they have a decent squad but I don't think it's like it's going to compete with the best squad so they sort of know that they just need to get some sort of like surge of energy from yeah but he's shit now isn't he he's not going to yeah he's actually apparently he's picked up he's picked up recently he scored quite a few goals I thought he looked quite podge when I last saw him might have been the lookalike oh yeah You can never fucking tell.
53:43Weirdly saw them in Pasha in Cologne. Also, he's proven that he's quite good at keeping these arrogant youngsters in check. He's slapping Rubinho's kid last week. So maybe that he's sort of being, you know, that sort of leadership. Yeah. The Brazil squad. Keep them in line. Final one. Andy Burnham's sort of vying to become prime minister. Do you see he wants to ban VAR? Can the prime minister do that? He gets my vote. Yeah, that is how we're talking. yeah yeah I think he's he's going for the he's going for the vote winning policy forget energy security let's talk about this yeah he basically said it kills the atmosphere having some random bloke in an industrial estate like cancel the celebrations yeah I think he's I'm with him on that we're with you Andy um alright I think that's all we've got time for yeah just remember the gossip hotline do you want to say the number one more time yeah sure what haven't you haven't you memorized it yet JP I would just be memorizing and say it really fast like it is an advert remember the gossip hotline guys it's 07354 079834 send us your gossip about sports stars mental stuff happening in your life we like voice notes we like kangaroos yeah just keep it all coming and we will see you next time thanks a lot thanks for listening as always
