16Gemini and Chrome is here for it. Ready to make anything online make sense? There's no place like Chrome. Check responses set up required, compatibility and availability varies 18+. Welcome back to Extra Shot, the podcast spilling the funniest stories in sport this week. On the pod today, the sinister crime linked to Victor Jokoraj's Arsenal move, an ex-Barca Stars hospital gun rampage, and has Yannick Sinner had a Brazilian butt lift? I'm Zach, I'm joined by the two Georges, George Wild. Hi, yep. And George Cooper. Hello, mate. How's it going? Good to be back. Yeah, very good to have you both here.

51How are we doing? Yeah, not too bad. Fantastic. Yeah, last time I was on, we were on the banks of the Thames, so it's good to be back in the studio. We're back in the safe confines of the studio. Yeah. And George, you've got some exciting news. You've got a new podcast out. Yeah, no, we do. Our production company that makes this very podcast has released a new football pod called First Up Football. It's a 10 minute daily news update of everything that's going on in the world of football. for those people who actually want to keep up to date with actual football stuff. What are you trying to say?

25Sounds like a dig to me. Are you saying that Yannick Sinner's Brazilian butt lift is not real sports news? We will be touching on, you know, Juan Bernabe's latest surgical enhancements as well. But yeah, so a mate described it as like news rounds for footy. So yeah, it's called First Up Football. Are you Lizzo? I'm not Lizzo. Sammy, James, who's been on this pod a couple of times, is Lisa. I will be making guest appearances. I'm more like, who else was? Are you sort of the roving reporter? Yeah, yeah, yeah, the field reporter. But I'll be pitching in as of when, but yeah. I always enjoyed on those old news round things where they had to link in, like telling kids about serious news stories with, you know, just like the regular, like funny news round bits that they do.

13Like, I've seen a clip of them. News round had to obviously report on 9-11. And, you know, like that's obviously a tragic event and like very traumatic really to see clips of it. But you've got to find a way to like make that palatable for like eight year olds. Yeah. And 2000 people have been killed as a jumbo jet plowed into a tower in New York. And in other news, the Blue Peter tortoise has had a baby. Yeah, it's a rough say. I always find that when I remember when, you know, Richard Bacon, the Blue Peter host, got sacked for taking cocaine. and then they had to report on it via Blue Peter. Richard Bacon had to address the nation's children and explain why he'd been kicked off.

56Did he explain it properly? Yeah, yeah. The Director General made him do an apology. And then afterwards he spoke about it and he said, yeah, I never thought there'd be any similarities between getting kicked off Blue Peter and getting kicked out of the LAPD. But when they fire you, they make your hand in your badge.

15Really? Yeah. That's amazing. I'm surprised that they actually allowed him to talk about that. I thought that would be the kind of thing these days you'd just be shuffled off quietly and never spoken about again. Yeah, things were run differently back then. Yeah. So back to football. Premier League is back. Of course, everyone excited? Oh, God, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, been gone too long. Yeah. In a way, it kind of feels like football never stopped this summer. It was a bit of a weird summer of like Donald Trump muscling in on trophy lifts. Heung Min Son being cradled by UFC stars at preseason friendlies.

53But, you know, it's nice to have the bread and butter of the Prem back. We had our episode about Sunderland in a decade from hell out this week. It was a belter. It was good. Yeah, just all the dark events from the last 10 years. But they're back in the Prem now. A great start for them. Yeah, off to a flyer. Yeah. I assume no one was shitting in the stands this time around. No, there was one moment from that episode where a disgruntled fan took his shit on the seat. Well, leave it to the episode. You can make your own minds up. But yeah, much better start for them. Aside from that, it was no massive surprises on the opening weekend.

32We see the Alexander Isak transfer saga is still rolling on. Newcastle fans are still very angry. I saw they were chanting there's only one greedy bastard at Isak during their 0-0 draw against Atten Villa Could have used an Isak really couldn't they? They actually, yeah, they really could but you know with that chant, very unhappy Geordies and the banner that they left outside the training ground the other week that read Isak is a pure rat it might sort of seem like there's no way back for him at St. James's Park Is that the best they could do with a banner? I don't like have you seen the picture as well no no it was written on like an old bed sheet and just tied to a fence outside the training ground oh that would explain it I was I was thinking you know they sent it off to the princes they'd done like like a whip round on the forums yeah no this is a much more this is much more of a spitting sawdust yeah fair enough yeah there's no there's no like superhero Tifo yeah yeah that was what I was expecting but no fair play but yeah it kind of they're pretty angry it seems pretty much like he's burned his bridges with the club and it's going to be very difficult for him to to come back from that but if the case of Wayne Rooney is anything to go by there might be a way back after all um so Waz has got a new podcast out on I think it's on the BBC isn't it oh yeah does this one talk about real football

00you'd love it the boring side of football is what I meant to say um but he was chatting about the whole ESAC transfer saga on it and was comparing it to his own eventually failed attempt to leave Man United in 2010. And he was saying that it all came about, he basically had a meeting with Fergie where he'd expressed some doubts about the squad and was asking him about his plans for transfers and so on. And Fergie in no uncertain terms told him to do one. And then went out and did a press conference after their first match of the season telling the media that Rooney was trying to leave. And obviously the fans were pretty mad about this.

41And Rooney said that a few nights later, I had a group of lads outside my house in balaclavas at three o 'clock in the morning, seeing them jumping out of the car, looked like late teenagers and men in their forties. Wow. So. That's mad. I'd fancy Rooney to have him. To see him for a bunch of 17 year olds. Bald Rooney, especially. 2010 era he'd have come out swinging yeah similar thing happened to Steven Gerrard didn't it when he put in a transfer request to leave Liverpool to go to Chelsea and supposedly the load of Merseyside gangs just used intimidation tactics to get him to stay supposedly yeah it's pretty sinister yeah mad and you're saying that like Colleen was inside with their feeding their newborn baby as well so in that case definitely fancy it's like a cow you know when they're like really docile unless they've got like a young car yeah if Colleen's there with a young what's his name yeah Kai Kai I was watching Wayne was on Match of the Day I think he's he's going to be a regular guest this season great signing yeah I like it I like Wayne really a lot but seeing him next to Alan Shearer I was like they look like they're about the same age the two of them sat there like the Mitchell brothers I'm pretty sure Shearer's about must be 20 years older but anyway so Rooney wakes up in the night he's got these balaclava clad men outside his house trying to intimidate him but he said that what these fans didn't realise was that in the meantime he'd actually backtracked and the following morning he was going in to sign a new contract so you know maybe there is a way back for ESAG after all I don't know Rooney actually said it was quite ironic is that these fans probably thought that they were the thing that suddenly the news comes out that he's staying and it's like well maybe wayne was like i was gonna do it anyway yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah um isak thing's funny did you see the social media spat between isak and newcastle happens this is wednesday morning's happened tuesday night so basically um isak tweeted like a statement um basically giving his like turn of events and and I think Teddy's just getting up so he said it's very mudslingy yeah when promises are broken and all trust is lost the relationship can't continue that's where things are for me right now essentially just saying like there's no coming back and then Newcastle replied very tit for tat way and it sort of ended with anyway when you calm down we'll see you on the trading ground which really gives like when a parent's like right you call off for a second Go sit on the noise there.

28Come back when you've calmed down. Which I kind of enjoyed. Yeah. I don't know. It's going to be difficult for him to repair the relationship with the fans, I think. Although I think, you know, Wayne Rooney might have had 17-year-olds in Stone Island jackets and ski masks outside his house. But that is small fry compared to the sinister world of crime that's engulfed another one of this summer's biggest transfers. So obviously, Victor Jokeres' move to Arsenal was very protracted. It got quite messy in the end. I think he wasn't getting on with Sporting Lisbon, his old club either. And at some point during the whole negotiations, the Sporting Lisbon president came out and he said that they would not be cowed by blackmail and insults.

13salts. So, you know, hearing that, I sort of assumed that Jokoraz had refused to nibble peri-peri chicken at the team barbecue or some bollocks like that. But it turns out that the sporting Lisbon president might have been referring to something slightly more sinister. So last week, Swedish police were investigating whether a terrifying gun attack in the city of Hudinga, which is just outside Stockholm, was related to Victor's£64 million move to Arsenal. so basically in the dead of night gunshots were fired through the window of the of a relative of an agent who was involved in negotiating the yorker's transfer and my understanding of it is that this guy had basically been bragging about getting a cut of the transfer fee um so you can you can kind of imagine it okay i mean that makes a bit more so it was getting a bit um yeah so anyway your crush's agent's neighbor yeah is posty right i mean yeah i mean it is also possible this is just like a local nutter who's just been running his mouth being like oh no you see your transfer i'm getting five mil of that so my mates are my mates a football agent um but yeah i don't know the the swedish police are basically uh were investigating whether it was part of an extortion attempt against football agents.

40Apparently there's been some other cases in Swedish football of agents being extorted and the criminal underworld sort of getting their tentacles involved in football. That's mad. You always forget that Sweden does actually have quite a crime. In my mind, look at the Scandi country, I just think of this utopia and everything. But it's like gun crime. football agents getting you know intimidating and all that kind of stuff yeah it does all I think of is like those little tasty cinnamon rolls and flat pack flat pack furniture and just nice pretty people yeah but yeah but anyway doesn't bode well for the Isak saga being wrapped up quickly and quietly really does it so the Premier League wasn't the only sport on this weekend I'm sure you both watched the Saudi Arabia snooker masters final of course of course I missed it unfortunately you did well well for you and those that didn't see it it was a bit of a thriller so Neil Robertson beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-9 to take home half a million quid but Neil very nearly didn't make it to the game so after the final Neil revealed that he almost was late because his taxi driver went to the wrong location so he blamed the driver saying this stuff just happens to me it's not my fault which surely he was the one who ordered the taxi you would have thought so and yeah because i was i was reading the story and apparently it was the the taxi instead of going to his hotel to take him to the venue the taxi went straight to the venue which yeah i don't know what you're trying i feel like i feel like that's an oversight on neil's part i don't know what you're trying to imply he explained he explained it was not his fault all right yeah so leave him be um you might have a point because that you know it sounds unfortunate um but judging by Neil's track record.

32Yeah, maybe there's more to this story than meets the eye. So back in 2019, Robertson had to forfeit his World Open qualifier because he accidentally set his sat-nav for the tiny village of Barnsley in Gloucestershire instead of Yorkshire's Barnsley Metrodome. So that village... That's quite a big... At what point in the drive do you realise, am I going to the West Country instead of West Yorkshire? Too late in the drive, apparently. so by the time he realised he was yeah he was on the way to Gloucestershire he it was too late to turn back and he had to call up and apologise I'm loving the image of him driving around this tiny village just like stopping like old ladies looking for they're going to the post I'm sorry have you seen Barnsley Metrodome we've got we've got a Londis down here yeah I mean maybe not even that so the village apparently has a population of 209 yeah which I don't know what the population of the capacity of Barnsley Metrodome is but yeah I assume you'd get them all in there 209 that's like that's a Hamlet yeah yeah so yeah mate you may be looking at maybe a shop and a post box but not much else um also read something that possibly I couldn't find much on this but apparently he also drove to a village in Cornwall called Sheffield instead of instead of to the crucible which I don't know it almost sounds like a joke but apparently apparently he did that um and he also failed to show up to a match last december because he got his dates muddled up um so basically he was on the sofa watching telly and he got a text from a friend saying good luck tonight mate and he thought that's a bit that's a bit odd so he um he he was a bit confused he went online he he went on to the world snooker tour website and realized that he was supposed to be playing in half an hour do you think you just googled Neil Robertson upcoming matches yeah fuck pretty much so yeah that was a bit of a nightmare so yeah I'm not sure he can lay the blame squarely at the cabbie's door it's also how it explains it's not my fault these things just happen to me do they Neil fucking do they it's not I know and it's not just timekeeping and directions that Neil has an issue with so back in 2017 he revealed that his snooker career almost went off the rails because he was addicted to playing World of Warcraft.

56He told Eurosport, I was part of a raid team and we played a few nights a week. When I went out to China for a tournament, I was trying to make the raid slot, but the connection was so bad that I couldn't get access. I was furious for four or five days.

13Four or five days? Yeah, it's a long time. A long time to maintain that level of anger. Well, he lost his spot on the raid team, George. you know what's the longest you've ever been furious for it gets quite embarrassing after about you know when you have a proper sort of proper mouth hissy fit and then like it only takes me about 10 minutes to be like yeah I've made it in a little bit I think like I've had a day ruined where I've been furious for a day and then even like to maintain that for a full working week you know he's waking up and he's thinking oh I'm fucking amazing yeah yeah we've got a thing in our sort of friendship group and with my girlfriend where if anyone sort of slightly shows a bit of being angry or upset everyone just goes are you having a bit of a wobble you just have to immediately stop because otherwise yeah so you have to acknowledge i am having yeah i've had a bit of a wobble i'm sorry so neil had a big wobble i i recently bought a new suit um and it was very nice suit i like got the like trousers turned up so they fit fit perfectly like a vintage suit wore it to a wedding a couple of weeks ago got a lot of compliments very nice suit and came home and washed the trousers and they've shrunk and i think i am dry clean only baby it's now been it's been it's been over a week and i'm still the first to be honest the first day that happened i i was so i was actually so sad i couldn't sleep i was like because it happened like i took him out to hang out just before i went to bed and realized that they were they were they trunk and you know when you're just lying there and i was just like every time i rolled over i just remembered about the trousers i just had like a real sadness of my stomach do you know what's a big shame quiet yeah so i i took zach uh to a vintage shop um in south london to go suit shopping and he picked out that lovely suit it was i think it was a 1970s number yeah it was a beautiful suit so yeah you've really twisted the knife now i just it's about you son leron yeah i would have been thousands new it'd been basically about 55 five years over consecutive owners, everyone had looked after that suit.

19It gets the ZSL, wears it once. Disgraceful. I actually, I might walk out of this podcast. I don't know if I can carry on. What's a lovely suit. Did you try the tiny trousers on? I have put them back on and they, the thing is they just about fit, but the suit was so nicely fitting before and now they're just like, they're a bit of ankle swingers and just a bit tight. I don't know. I'm going to try and work out if there's any way to reverse it. I'm not sure that's a thing. Best of luck with that. Anyway, Neil continued on his World of Warcraft addiction. He said, so you remember he's been steward about this for four or five days now, losing his spot on the raid team.

01He said, has anyone played World of Warcraft? What does that mean? I don't. The only thing I'm thinking of is, you know, in that episode of Peep Show where the three of them, they play it and try and get into the alchemist study. Got you. Don't go there. Yeah. Those trees are not real trees. That's what I'm picturing. So Neil continued. All I was thinking about was getting back home for a connection from China. I lost my spot on the raid team. And all of a sudden that became more important than the snooker, which is absolutely crazy. Yeah. So, I mean, he's probably right. He also said in the past, I've been staying up and playing it.

36Then all of a sudden it's 6am. The birds are tweeting and I'm thinking, oh my God, I have to get up in a couple of hours to take my son to school. Then I've got to practice. So that's the thing that you hear about in like a, like a rock stars autobiography about the depths of his like crack addiction. Yeah. You know, you're hearing the burst of it and you're thinking, what the hell am I doing? This has got to stop. But this, it's working towards a new skin. And it's not just World of Warcraft that Neil's addicted to. So in the 2013, 14 snooker season, he made 100 centuries which is you know that's impressive but he thinks he could have made at least 120 if he wasn't addicted like hell to FIFA 14 he's a gamer yeah I mean was that it was a good one probably it was yeah it was vintage year he just really liked the soundtrack yeah Miles Kane so fortunately Neil has now found a way to kick the habit so I guess like yeah if you're if you're giving up smack maybe what do you do you just get really into cigarettes or or running yeah yeah the way to give up world of warcraft apparently is to um get into warhammer 40k so neil explained that he's now um yeah he doesn't play any video games but he uh is really into warhammer 40k where you paint the little models sounds like it's like sort of giving up fags and taking up vaping really isn't it like it's not solving the root of the issue.

09I mean, I feel like painting the little model is quite creative at least. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. But I mean, I suppose he would argue his battle tactics within the raid squad were quite creative as well. Yeah, yeah. Do you play like actual, you know, wars with the models? I think you can. No, I was never really into them. But some people just like to paint, just paint, just paint and collect. Whenever I go past the Games Workshop and I see people making those models and play those models I think that looks like so much fun I wish I I wish I was I wish I was I wish I was you were a fucking nerd no dorks but I mean I'm not into it but I'm like I can imagine being into it is really really fun yeah yeah yeah same when you see like people at comic-con events I'm like for you that is the best day of the year yeah you're dressed up as some dragon boy I do write the adverts the adverts the costumes yeah I do rate the costumes.

05I mean, you say it's creative. There's like this members club in Peckham where you have to sort of, I think you have to do like work in the creative industries or something. And a friend of mine, his girlfriend is in there. He's a member and he keeps trying to become a member and they keep turning him down. So he's tried like three different applications and on one of them, the justification he gave that he was creative was that he painted Warhammer. Well, and that didn't get him to? They basically told him to fuck off. fuck off nerd they like gave him a wedgie and they're just like but yeah he'll get there I think every every creative art should be embraced exactly yeah it's discrimination it's what it is so we were talking before about people who hold on to anger for a long time and I think one person who falls into that category is Arda Turan the former Barcelona midfielder who I'd say he's one of the biggest hotheads in recent football history so he's had this whole catalogue of meltdowns from strangling a journalist on a plane to throwing his boot at a linesman he once got a 16 match ban for for shoving another linesman um so when Shakhtar Donetsk were on the hunt for a new manager Arda was the logical choice and to be fair he actually has pretty decent pedigree as a manager so in his last job he he got the Turkish side Ayerspor if I'm saying that right uh promoted to the Super League for the first time.

34So it sounds like he's a decent manager. And there are also signs that maybe Arda's old fiery temper has been replaced by a more pious, a more reverent temperament. So there's this video doing the rounds of Arda being interviewed by a very attractive Ukrainian TV presenter. And he's basically, he's almost refusing to make eye contact with her throughout the video. He is special for you in some moments. What did you like the most about Tim's performance in the game? He's got the manner of someone who's into Warhammer 40k.

19He's literally just like turning right, looking in every possible direction apart from her, just like scratching his head. When he wipes his brow and then looks to the sky. That gets it for me. That is so funny. Yeah. You know, it's a little bit weird maybe if you're trying to interview him, but, you know, maybe Arda is just trying to head off any accusations at all that he might be flirting with her because he's been burned by that before. So there was a story from back in 2018 when Arda was playing for Istanbul Basak Sahir and he got into a fight in an Istanbul nightclub with Berkay, this Turkish pop star.

00And basically, Turan had been hitting on Burkay's wife in the club. He didn't realize it was Burkay's wife at the time, but Burkay came over and confronted him about it. And Arda ended up punching him in the face and breaking his nose, which is a bit of an overreaction, really. Anyway, it all escalated because Burkay got carted off in an ambulance to hospital and Turan pursued him to the hospital, brandishing a loaded gun, which sounds like something out of a film, and bursts into the hospital and eventually manages to track down Berkay's room and bursts in and throws the gun on the table. So you're wondering, is he going to kill Berkay?

45But in fact, he begs Berkay to execute him. So we've actually got a clip from the hospital CCTV TV of Arda Turan coming in with the gun, throwing it on the table. There he is, looking very angry. He throws this pistol onto the table. And apparently he says to Bacchae, I didn't know she was your wife. I'm sorry. Just kill me. Maybe that's why he's a good manager, doesn't he? Just the players are so scared they're going to lose and he's going to go up to the club owner and just, I'm so sorry. Just fucking Just kill me. Now we better put in a performance today, lads. Yeah, just do not let this man have a gun.

27Fortunately, Burkai refuses to execute Arda Turan in the middle of this hospital. But this just sends Arda into even more of a rage. And he ended up firing the gun into the floor of the hospital, which obviously just causes absolutely carnage. There's like patients stampeding through the halls. I think there's someone on the loose with a gun in there. and Arda ended up getting a two and a half year suspended jail sentence for it. Wow. Probably fair enough you'd have to say. I think it's kind of lenient in a way. I was like he's probably like actually letting off a gun normally that means you're going straight to jail.

03Yeah and I think I might be wrong on this but I think that especially if he was on the first floor that's going to cause all sorts of problems. Heart operation guy upstairs. Did he so he brought the loaded gun to the nightclub just in case. Um I don't know actually I don't know if he popped home quickly to get it or he gives it in his glove compartment yeah maybe he had it in his car yeah yeah I don't know I don't know what the gun laws are like in Turkey but I suspect lenient yeah he's getting I have no evidence for that he's getting a slap on the wrist yeah I mean he did just bring a gun into hospital and fired it and just got two and a half just got a suspended jail term so yeah seems fairly lenient but after that whole episode it looks like Arda now is being pretty careful when it comes to chatting to women who may or may not be married Fair enough Crazy, that video is so funny It's great, alright anyone got any holidays coming up?

03I've got a wedding in France next month which I'm very excited for, lovely, you got your suit Try not to shrink my suit Good stuff Yep you know what else you should do is be very careful with your data when you're abroad. 35:54And that is, well, actually, that one, it looks a bit more round. The one we looked at before, it was, like you said, flat as a pancake. But the more recent ones, it's looking... Oh, come on. That is... Come on. 2023. That is pre-VBL. Yeah. For sure. But... It makes you wonder. because i mean yannick also had his whole this like bit of a doping scandal i think he was banned for four months was it um which you know i'm not he's saying he's not averse to putting things in his body is that what you're saying just just there's a bit of a bit of a stink around him is all i'm saying um i i guess also for tennis though because you're doing a lot of like lunges a lot of low things i guess you do need quite uh strong glutes is it glutes bum yeah um but that that looks artificial to me so where are you landing because i was sort of when we first you know we put this on i was kind of thinking it's a bit of a joke but you seem to be fully on board i mean i i was skeptical but now that you've mentioned the sponsorship deals that's actually because i was sort of thinking like it's not gonna be a benefit in the tennis you think you know carrying a bit of extra weight around the backside.

06It's not going to be great for your movement. Lower center of gravity. Lower center of gravity, Teddy, you're right. I'm thinking because it's got something of the Eden Hazard about it. Raheem Sterling as well. He looks like he might have. Yeah. Yeah, it makes you think. It does make you think. Would he be ready for the US Open? The new, new ass open? The new, the new ass open. New open ass? Yeah. So I had a quick look. You ass open is putting other things into my mind. Yeah, no, okay, let's move on swiftly. I had a quick look to see if any other sports stars had sparked kind of similar debates in the past.

44And I found a couple. So in 2009, there was a lot of rumours in the Brazilian press that Ronaldo had undergone liposuction. And when a journalist asked him directly if he'd had the surgery, he didn't exactly quash the rumours because he replied, I don't know. I don't even know if I did it. these are things we do not know which isn't it's not a denial is it no I mean so he's sort of gone the other way to Yannick Sinner Yannick Sinner maybe he's being pumped the fat's being pumped out of Ronaldo and into Yannick Sinner yeah well allegedly the fat's been frozen for 15 years quite cryogenically yeah cryogenically frozen yeah so before Ronaldo there was also some debate about former Villa midfielder Sasa Czorchic and the surgery he had on his nose.

33So in the late 90s, Sasser decided to get a nose job the night before a game without telling the club. And not only did it rule him out for that game, but it ruled him out for the following month as well. Surely do that off season. Yeah. You were the force though, wouldn't you? But I mean, I think he was a bit of a, didn't really play by the rules, Sasser. So his manager, Brian Little was obviously fuming. So Sasser thought of a cunning, ploy he said he told Brian that he underwent the surgery to fix problems with his breathing because I guess he thought I mean he still should have told the club and given them some notice but I guess that's a legitimate reason to get a nose job maybe it will help him play in yeah yeah unfortunately Sassa's wife stitched him up slightly by giving an interview to the Sunday Mirror so asked about his breathing troubles she said well that was his story I think it was more to do with vanity because he was always telling me he'd like to have a nose like mine I mean having looked at pictures of him he didn't have a big honker that's coming from someone with a big nose so you're allowed yeah that's very much a before it looks like Beavis and Butthead kind of it's a funny looking guy actually isn't it yeah and that's it after there you go he was a button after it exactly yeah so Sass's wife obviously agrees with you Zach because she continued in that interview some of my friends couldn't understand why I'd fallen for someone with such a big hooter.

59But I've never been attracted to pretty boys and I thought he had an interesting face and lovely eyes. Which is a bit of a shit sandwich that in it. It's almost a compliment. That's what my girlfriend said, actually. Yeah, unsurprisingly, that marriage did not last too long. They got married just as Sasa was experiencing work permit issues and they divorced two years later, resulting in an investigation from a home office. So his wife wasn't buying his excuse for getting it done and neither was the club. So a couple of years later, Villa's secretary director, Steve Stride, told the News of the World, while Churchich was with us, he had his hair dyed, his teeth capped and underwent plastic surgery on his nose.

40I think he was trying to make himself more attractive to women, but I suspect it had the opposite effect. Sticking the boot in there. No reason. Sus's teammates weren't impressed either. so apparently Gareth Southgate had a go at him for missing games at a crucial point in the season which is fair enough but Sasser reckons Gareth has an ulterior motive so he said Gareth was jealous I told him and Andy Townsend guys if you come we'll get a discount who knows it's for the price of two I was about to say Gareth Southgate's got a well that's why he's sizable sizable shows of himself yeah and that's why he's annoyed yeah he does have lovely eyes and an interesting face he does it would be ruining him to do anything to that.

21I mean, Gareth Southgate, I think if you bring Gareth Southgate home to your parents, they're going to be charmed, charmed, charmed the fans off. Maybe. They might think, why have you brought a 50, 55 year old? True. So we did a story in our email newsletter last week about this Japanese baseball video game from the 90s that somebody had come across. And the creators of this game had basically come up with fictional players to populate the game. It's a bit sort of like the pro-evo of baseball, I guess, where they didn't have the license for the real player names. So they'd invented what they thought were American sounding names.

01Oh, so the Japanese video game programmers. Exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So these are some of the ones they came up with. Pretty funny. Bobson Dugnut. Bobson is something to get there. Ray McScriff. Yep. Willie Dustis. Carl Dandleton. I think Sleeve McDycall is my favourite. Sleeve McDycall. Todd Gonzalez. A lot of them are sort of similar to American names. Raul Chamgalain. Mike Truck. Mike Truck is good. That's a classic. So, you know, we had a bit of a laugh about some of these names. But we then had an email from a reader called John. who sent in some real life players from Major League Baseball history.

54And it sort of turns out that truth really is stranger than fiction. So real players from the MLB history include Johnny Dickshot. Good. Stubby Clap. Chicken Wolf. And my personal favourite, Rusty Cunts. No, that is not a... This is Rusty Cunts. It's like genuine baseball card. Yeah. yeah yeah as you reminded me of my all time favourite American sports star the racing driver Dick Trickle good yeah you just don't get names like that here do you nah it's definitely a stateside thing there's a um WHL hockey player called um Dick Paradise which is also great and there's um there's a FIFA Blazer as well um called uh and this guy he was South African he was actually involved in the like the ending of the apartheid movement he was imprisoned with Nelson Mandela and he's called Tokyo Sexwell it's probably Sexwale but it reads as Tokyo Sexwell Tokyo Sexwell yeah I'm sorry you can't you can't be negotiating the release of Nelson Mandela when you go Tokyo Sexwell yeah oh that was great I always enjoyed the made up names on Pro Evo the old ones where they didn't have the license for anything.

20There was Ronaldinho was Naldorinho. Roberto Carlos was Roberto Lacos. Man United had Rude von Mistelroom up front. Brazilian Ronaldo was Rona Ridd. It's just so budget. I remember at the time it just didn't bother me that much. Just playing with Merseyside Red. or you know I was always a bit I didn't really know who was going for that over FIFA I had a couple of Pro Evos there was a big debate for a while over which one was better right the gameplay was supposed to be better in Pro Evo this was like Pro Evo 4 or something yeah Pro Evo 4 is my favourite football game of all time but I think it's probably because it was like the first one that I seriously got into the one that had Kalina on the front do you remember again quite a budget choice yeah I assume he would cost quite a lot less than getting Ronaldinho on the front cover He was an iconic referee, Josh.

16No, you're right. He's still the iconic referee, which is pretty impressive. Yeah, after all these years. He will occasionally pop up on like a soccer raid, won't he? Yeah. He's not aged. No, no, no. He's like sort of Skeletor just preserved in time. Again, that's like a fucking compliment from Sasser Church's wife, that. He's really not aged. He's not aged a bit. He's an icon. Looks like Skeletor. He does have that sort of, I don't know, he's not got any wrinkles, really. He never did. It's just like, all his skin is quite just tight. Surgery? Possibly surgery. Him and Yannick Sinner. I remember Aston Villa on Pro Evo for a while.

54For some reason we're called Dublin. Right. Just after Dion Dublin. Ah, yeah, that was probably it actually. Doesn't really make sense. It doesn't make sense. West Ham were also called Lake District for no apparent reason. If I'm not mistaken, Pro Evo was made by Konami, which is a Japanese gaming company. So maybe that would explain the confusion in the geographic locations of various football teams. Maybe, I don't know. You would think send someone over to check. I know you don't have the license for the name, but you can speak to someone who is from London to check where West Ham is. Maybe they did have the license all along.

32It was just like, it was Japanese video game programmers' interpretation of what Brazilian footballers would sound like. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It is kind of that. Yeah, I mean, Wrexham, you know, they did that a couple of years ago in the documentary, right? They did that map of all the clubs in England and they were just all over the shop. Oh, really? And that's like Hollywood production. Yeah, true. Yeah, yeah. Like what I liked, up until 2018, Pro Evo had Huddersfield called just West Yorkshire Town. Just general. Just provincial town. See, if real cities had names like that, then maybe Neil Robertson would get lost as often would he?

13It's much harder to turn up to the wrong West Yorkshire town. Yeah although you do try and go to the London Stadium and you end up in Cumbria. Yeah. Alright I think that's all we've got time for here. We're going to head over to Patreon where we are casting our eyes up into the skies this week dreaming of galaxies far far from our own. Maybe there's even a parallel universe where a real life Naldorinho is delighting the fans of West Yorkshire Town with his rainbow flicks. Yep, that's right. We are diving into the history of UFO sightings. It's a very hotly requested episode. It was a fun one too.

56It was a very good one. George is on there and Jack who's not with us today is on holiday, but he's on that. And yeah, some of them are sport related. got Muhammad Ali's brush with a flying saucer in there and then just some of the maddest stories of UFO sightings we've got alien abductions slime falling from the sky Brazilian farmers conceiving babies with hot aliens there's some pretty mad stories on there so you can get that episode instantly when you sign up to our Patreon go to patreon.com forward slash upshot towers one word it's just£3 a month And you can get that and many more episodes.

38Actually, one more thing before we go. We've got a new video out on our YouTube channel. It's a 10 minute video all about Roy Keane's maddest moments. I'll link to it in the description. It's a little bit like if anyone used to read our threads on Twitter, it's sort of a visual version of that. Quickfire with added accents from Zach. With some added, very accurate, very accurate Irish Jamaican accents. Some impressions of Roy Keane, which you can judge for yourself. Because you're part Irish. Does that mean you're allowed to do the Irish accent? Well, when we were filming this video, I spent about an hour fully enrolled as Roy Keane doing the lines.

24It was awkward. He had like, yeah, people were coming into the studio and Zach was berating them. Yeah, get it. It's not quite scary. I'm trying to work in here. What are you doing? What are you doing? This is a work environment. Come on. But anyway, I will link to the video in the description of this podcast. So please do check it out and give it a like if you enjoy it. All right. Thanks a lot, guys. Thanks, George. Thank you. Yeah, it's been fun. Thanks for having me on. It's kind of had the feel today of when like usual history teacher is off and they've drafted in the like chill art teacher.

59yeah I'll uh we can uh we can go and watch a movie now yeah yeah she's gonna put on Dr. Javar guy uh all right thanks for listening cheers bye
