In short
The episode is a sports-and-tabloid roundup, mixing football news with sensational legal/court stories. It opens with Raheem Sterling’s 9am Thursday arrest in Hampshire after crashing a Lamborghini into motorway barriers; police said he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, dangerous driving, class C drug possession, and failing to provide a specimen. A dashcam video reportedly shows a driver-side passenger holding a balloon while the car swerves across lanes. The hosts speculate about the “class C” drug list (including stimulants like cat) and discuss the balloon as a possible distraction.

30thousand jp-dophile hearts around the nation yeah a lot of sobbing nonces yeah mainly in ireland it seems he yeah he does i don't know i don't know why we don't get the same sort of fanatic yeah fandom but yeah if there are admirers i don't want to probably don't want to know why actually yeah yeah but have you noticed the irish particularly have a glad eye for jp i mean he's got got irish roots hasn't he so maybe that's it yeah i think that's it you've got an Irish passport. Any horny Irish men or women. JP's taken now. I would say it's mainly a gay guy thing. There are no women in the audience.
09Well, yeah, there's been less, there's sort of a smaller sample pool of women. Well, yeah, if our female fan base are listening, Sheila, do you fancy Zach as well as JP? It's the question on everyone's question. Please do get in touch if you do or if you don't. Either way. Right, yeah. Yeah. So no, JP, just us. Should we get into it? Let's do it. So Raheem Sterling, you know, in his prime, he would strike fear into defenders. He had these jinking runs left and right, mazy, unpredictable. And you know, Raheem might not do that much on the pitch anymore, but as motorists on the M3 can testify, he is still a menacing sight weaving around on the roads.
55so Rahim was arrested at 9am on Thursday morning after crashing his Lamborghini on into the barriers on the motorway in Hampshire so apparently it was a pretty nasty crash hit into the barriers flew four feet into the air and spun 180 degrees so he ended up facing into the traffic uh police obviously arrived on the scene and arrested Rahim so they released a statement saying he'd been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, dangerous driving, possession, possession of a class C drug and failing to provide a specimen. So not normal driving offense. Wasn't just a, just a bit of careless, careless, uh, driving on the motorway.
3955 and the 54. Exactly. Um, so obviously, so they say he was in possession of a class C drug, which see the mind begins to wander just to read out a list of the classy drugs under the current guidance anabolic steroids benzos so that's like valium sleeping and anxiety meds yeah xanax stuff like that cat which is that it's like a leaf that I think it's popular in Somalia yeah the pirates if it was cat I wouldn't let him off because it's so exciting It's just like a stimulant, right? Yeah, it's like speed. But it's like a tree bark or something to plant. And you chew it. Yeah. And it's mega, mega addictive.
24Yeah. Speedy. And that's when the Somali pirates nick a shit. They need something to keep them going. Yeah, yeah, literally. They're just absolutely charging on cat. Yeah. Cat. Cat. That's so exotic that were it to be cat, I'd almost be telling you. Let him off. Let him off. Chewing on. Where's he got that?
44Could have been that. That could also have been nitrous oxide, laughing gas, or piperazines. Piperazines? Piperazines. B-Z. B-Z-P. I've got to say, I'm not really familiar with it. That's some flavicular shit, isn't it? Yeah. We jack. I bet you that's like something. I think it's like often, I think if you get like a dodgy ecstasy pill, I think that's what it is. Oh, really? I think it's like a bit of a weird, like, it releases a veterinary dewormer. Eventually, it's a dewormer. That's what he's doing it for. Raheem certainly had tapeworms. That was... It's just high on... He had a dodgy batch of cats, actually.
28Need a dewormer. That way it's scooting all over the road, is it? You just couldn't sit still. So fidgety.
42Itchy bum. All kinds of exotic parasites come in in those cat shipments. so that's what you give your cat i think it's what you give your cat if it's got a tapeworm why is that a classy substance is it got it gets you high as well it does have recreation it's used as a recreational drug apparently it's similar similar to like mdma uh now that's scraping the barrel if you've run out of cat but you break into a vet and they've run out of cat so you just go on the deworming pills that's sunday glastonbury everything's run out and Someone offers you some fucking deworming tablets. Fine, go on then.
18Might do something. Oh, yes. It's a stimulant vibe. Yeah. Hey, close to MDMA. Yeah. Interesting you knew that. So, okay. Those are the poisons. So a few options. Those are the poisons. I feel like there's a couple we can probably rule out, but we don't need to say what those are. I think that should be obvious. So he was arrested in possession of one of those drugs. dash cam footage then emerged from a car that had been traveling behind rahim on the on the on the motorway before the crash which we can have a look at it shows him he's swerving across the road between the lanes almost crashes into the central reservation at one point in the video it appears that somebody inside the car who looks like they're sat in the driver's seat is holding a balloon yeah holding it up yeah they're holding a balloon it's near their head um obviously he that car is properly weaving and they're not indicating they're not indicating they're swerving across all three lanes of the motorway almost crash into the into the barrier the central reservation 9am it's 9am on a Thursday morning people are trying to get to work rush hour yeah it's what do you do if someone's driving like that do you because I feel like if you overtake and get out of the way they might might pop up again Just stay as far.
36Actually, but he said, the dash cam footage came from a driving instructor who was on the motorway and his, the Daily Mail, I think it was, that spoke to him. They had a quote from him being like, as a driving instructor, I need to drop well back from the vehicle. Leave two to three chevrons between me and the car. I think more than two chevrons when he's driving like that. Yeah. A good four to six chevrons, I think. Treat it as icy conditions. Yeah. Yeah. So, a balloon. There's not much more we can say about that. There are active criminal proceedings because he's been arrested. But what is visible in the video is that somebody in the car, on the driver's side, is holding a balloon.
18Assuming it's a British car. Yeah. Could have been on the way to a children's birthday party. It's true. He was nearby Thorpe Park. Oh, right. Yeah. Haven't actually checked out his kids' birthday parties, but he could have been running late for that. hence the deworming pills
38you know all sorts of guys around in those nurseries yeah but no he could have just been running behind on the decorations as to get them ready what the clip doesn't show is 30 seconds later he makes an incredible giraffe with that balloon
59yeah a birthday to remember yeah sure do you think if you did get pulled over with a balloon in the car just hypothetically yeah could you quickly knock up a dog that's the most basic balloon animal isn't it is it yeah and it's the officer i think i'd i'd struggle maybe a snake or it was actually easy as a sword because it just needs the one little tie can you do that i mean with a long balloon i'd back myself with a bit of practice i don't know if i'd do it behind the wheel
30but yeah so what we know is he was arrested for refusing to give a specimen the scene as well yeah possession of and possession of a class C dragon suspicion of suspicion of not charged yet drug driving he hasn't been charged so there's a limit I feel like you and I are quite big Raheem Sterling fans so we're hoping for the not charged balloon animal balloon animal and a crate of deworming pills yeah that was it that was it he just popped by the vet maybe it was his maybe it was his dog's birthday that would explain it all but no I mean I was always a big Raheem Sterling fan and I thought he seemed like a decent enough chap I feel like this is going to be if I mean we don't know what's going to happen but these allegations even the allegation in the video provided he was the one driving that's hard to come back from it's hard to come back from he's leaving he's because he's been at final He's been at Feyenoord for the last six months, but didn't really work out.
30I don't think he played much. What's the deal? Because he's only 31. Has he just like lost his pace? Yeah. I mean, I think it's one of those that he played so much football. I mean, that's what everyone says. He played so much football at a young age that he's kind of burnt out. Fernando Torres. But like, I mean, he's, yeah, he's not been great for the last couple of years, but he had such a good career. And like, even if he retires now, it's like he had, he was amazing for England and Man City. Yeah. And you have to say from that video, like you mentioned, he's still weaving on the roads, but he's also the change of acceleration that was such a trademark for him.
01That is intact. It's great to see that he's able to, to, to, to reapply those skillsets. Some works of life. Now, have you seen the texts from the Southampton Spygate scandal? Browse. They've all come out now and they are amazing. It's very, very, very incriminating on Southampton's part. So obviously the backstory to this is that Southampton got kicked out of the playoffs when they were caught, one of their interns was caught spying on their semi-final opponent Middlesbrough's training sessions. They appealed against that decision, but the appeal was rejected and details of the investigation have now been published.
41I didn't realise that Southampton had hired Lord Panic for their appeal. The one that's trying to get Man City off the 115 charges. And they had the banner saying panic on the streets of london which is both a genius banner and also why are you doing a banner about your fucking barista yeah so is he a football i mean i was like hold on is he just now specialize in football clubs that are accused of cheating trying to get them off but i had a look at his wikipedia and she says that he practices primarily in public law and human rights uae always a good client yeah yeah human human rights and getting the Abu Dhabi group off cooking the books.
23And now Southampton. And now Southampton. Brian Panic. Yeah. Yeah. Didn't work out, sadly, even despite... Oh, so that's it. Despite Panic's best efforts, the appeal was thrown out, partly because of some very incriminating WhatsApps. So, basically, a key part of Southampton's defence had been that the intern was acting alone. You know, he was a bit of a lone wolf, a rogue operator. One bad apple. that was not backed up by the text. So it included one where he'd been, he was spying on Oxford United, another game earlier in the season. He'd been sent to spy on that, sent over videos or whatever he'd found and received a response that read, you legend, manager loved it.
12He then, he also sent another text to a colleague who was asking about this mission. And he said, I didn't really have an option and wasn't providing an opportunity to say no. I was an intern and was doing what I was told, which, yeah, that's good for him. It's great. It's good for him. Yeah. And yeah, it basically turns out that the whole thing was meticulously planned, premeditated by Southampton. So later in the season, they'd wanted to go and spy on Ipswich. It was like the penultimate game of the season. I think they were both battling for second place, massive game. and Ipswich in the run up to that game were training at Eastleigh.
51Near Southampton. Yeah, it's like a non-league team. They were using their ground for some reason. And Southampton gave their analyst an Eastleigh kit and dispatched them to the training ground. Gave him a fake alibi of what his job would be at Eastleigh. Massage a masseuse or something. Gave him the tracksuit. Gave him like the training tracksuit. and sent him to film their session. It's like proper spy stuff. They also gave him a Mont Blanc pen with a poison dart in it as well. Then, obviously, Middlesbrough, the most famous example of it, where this intern definitely did not act alone. So before he was dispatched to Middlesbrough, they'd shown him drone footage of the training ground and shown him exactly where he should stand to film it.
41Just behind this tree. they booked him flights at a hotel nearby um obviously he wasn't that subtle about it and ended up being spotted the famous photo of him hiding behind the tree just filming iconic Middlesbrough staff spotted him four of them chased after him and while he was running he like quickly fired off the videos to his Southampton colleagues little Benny Hill yeah um the Middlesbrough staff did catch up with him and then like force him to delete it but he'd already sent them he'd already sent it yeah so is that why because he also could have done the thing you know you delete them but they're still in your recently deleted because you remember me on the way to dublin i think you you had darts in your hand luggage and they took them off you and i took a picture and i got bollocks by police because you're not allowed to do that the security and then recently deleted have you got them then?
35still got them I mean they're not particularly interesting me getting getting my bag getting you ticking off Gatwick yeah so yeah they got him to delete the photos and he then basically yeah he left went to a went to a golf club nearby changed his clothes in the toilets the golf club was owned by Steve Gibson the owner of Middlesbrough which is quite quite a nice touch and And he then, he was then headed back down to Southampton. And on his way, he started panicking. So he was like, fuck, what if Middlesbrough work out? It was me that was there. So he deleted his LinkedIn because that would obviously have pictures of him, didn't want them to put two and two together.
18And there was then a text exchange between analysts at Southampton where they realized that basically Tonda Ecker, the Middlesbrough manager, sorry, Southampton manager, had won manager of the month. and this intern was in the picture with him on their Instagram. So they were like, get that off social media. They delete the photo. And they're just like, okay, please don't let Middlesbrough put two and two together about who it was spying, which obviously they do. I mean, even if they hadn't seen the manager of the month photo, obviously that guy is spying for, who else is he going to be spying for?
50I mean, I think when they made him delete the photo, he was just like, oh, I was just, he was just like passing by the golf course, just like wanted to send it to my mate. or whatever. I mean, he's about 19. So yeah. Anyway, the whole thing is very incriminating and basically throws cold water on Southampton's claim that it was, he was, this intern was acting alone. Yeah. And shows that actually the orders had come from Tonda Eka, the manager. Yeah. So surely they knew these texts would be like demanded in evidence, right? So like, why bother denying it? Or did they? I don't know. they appealed I mean what's Lord Panic thinking when he sees the evidence he's like yeah yeah or is he has he got a human rights angle on this the intern maybe I mean he could go back to Panic actually I'm sure I've been exploited by my employer I actually think Lord Panic tends to act for the other side in human rights abuse I'm a human rights lawyer I didn't say which side I work on strictly defence yeah that's just a joke I'm sure sure he works on important stuff.
02I sort of assumed that Todd Eckert would be sacked after this. Yeah, because he was commissioning the spying, basically. He certainly knew about it. Yeah. But yeah, it seems like Southampton are sticking with him. It's quite funny he had the intern in the manager of the month photo, because you think he's like, look, as usual, it's such an important part of my turnaround. Yeah. Southampton suddenly went on that amazing run of form as soon as he took over. give the intern management he has been given a full time job the intern the intern I think they owe that to him I think yeah Lord Panic insisted but yeah Eckert he released an eight minute video addressing Southampton fans apologising for it basically his defence is that he thought it was fine because he'd managed before in Germany and Italy and he was like everyone does it there yeah so I thought you know it's fine let it see him doing 180 miles an hour down the M3.
01What? But on the Autobahn it's okay. It's fine. What, you mean I'm not allowed to cheat on my wife? In Italy? I'm sorry, I thought this was a free country. Yeah. But then again, do you remember when we first talked about this story, our instinctive reaction was, if it's not against the rules, then, you know, don't have a public training ground. I was kind of defending it. Yeah. And then I realised it was very against the rules. It was against the rules because of the Bielsa case. I think when Bielsa was caught doing it, there were no rules on it. So it was sort of a gray area. But then after that, I mean, that was such a high profile case.
39Yeah, that's the mad thing. Somebody, even if Tonda Ecker hadn't realized that when he arrived and had like sort of said it to all the Southampton stuff, you'd think someone would be like, oh no, you can't do that here. Yeah, because even the intern clearly knows it because of his text to his friend. Yeah, yeah. He's the only one who's like trying to pull that out. but no I'm looking forward to next season when the Southampton fans were so smug about it like dressing up as bushes and with binoculars and stuff at their second leg I think stick with it lean into the gag yeah yeah maybe they should I think now other fans are going to do it every yeah time do you predict they'll do really badly next season and he'll be gone by Christmas Tondra Ecker I I do yeah I kind of feel like the momentum's been taken out it's going to be really funny if they're just suddenly shit yeah yeah yeah the um the messages where they're just like manager loved it really remind me of you know in the news of the world phone hacking they were always like no it was just one rogue reporter and then in the end they had they found an email from the editor just going do his phone so routine probably says that five times a day yeah well we'll see how they do next season now amir khan he's about as smart as a sack of wet mints but the thing I've always found insane is Amir has always retained this uncanny gift with the opposite sex he's a good looking and you know he's a very successful sportsman well anyway I think unfortunately those womanizing gifts might finally be on the wane possibly due to 20 years of getting pummeled in the head because some new court filings have revealed the texts that Amir Khan was sending to this model trying to get her to send nudes.
26And yeah, it's not exactly the work of Byron and Shelley. So this woman, she's a bridal model. You saw her on Insta, like what he saw. Does he, because he got married not that long ago, right? Yeah, and he also owns a wedding venue. That's it. So maybe he is. A shit wedding venue. I think it's now shut down. Yeah. I mean, look, maybe he's just a hopeless romantic. I'll let you be the judge when you see the text. so he opened the conversation with you look good on g-string on g-string yeah and then he did um he asked her for naked photos she sent one back just of her like midriff with clothes on and he just replied too much clothes real caveman stuff that we make fuck now take clothes off yeah that's the text of a man using his other hand one-handed isn't it that's a left-handed text so actually this sexting thing actually happened a few years back but it's now the subject of a new court case because this woman went on a podcast and accused Amir Khan and his wife Fahyal of threatening the woman he sent nudes to and this other woman who he slept with why is his wife threatening because one of the accusations was that Fahyal and his wife sent the woman a voice note in which she threatened to slit her throat.
49And she also said, I'm the biggest Asian, all right? And girls like you look up to me. Oh my God. She said, she's alleged to have said some other quite mental shit as well by this person on a podcast. But Fahyal denies ever making these threats. And so she and her husband, Amir Khan, are now suing the woman who said it for libel. Oh, okay. So they're not denying, I don't think they're denying that Amir Khan sent these sex, to modern nudes. They're just denying that afterwards they threatened. Apparently there's another accusation that Amir offered the woman 20 grand. And then when she turned it down or another woman, he said something like, I know people in your hometown.
27That's the allegation, which the Khans deny. But they're basically saying we didn't threaten them and they claim it's cost them their BBC show. I think it's called At Home With The Khans, which did get canceled not long after. But I really enjoyed this quote from Amir Khan's wife. she said the whole world is aware of Amir's track record his reputation precedes him why would you as a single woman want to engage in a conversation with him at all be it rich you're married to him why would you want to be married to him it's just like look everyone knows his gun why would you talk to him um yeah so but like is this so so basically they're they're suing her for libel for they're saying that she'd made up these allegations.
11Yeah, they're saying we didn't make these threats. We never made these threats. Yeah, yeah. Supposedly there's a voice recording. It's going to court. So they're going to fight it out over that. But it's about the threats. No one's denying that Amir Khan. Sent the nudes. Yeah, yeah. Not sent the nudes, but demanded the nudes. He also, one of the messages describes his marriage as a business arrangement. It does sound like quite a transactional marriage because after he got outed for the sex, which he sent a few years ago, he apologized to his wife by nipping to Mercedes Bolton and buying her a G-Wagon.
41So that's the exchange rate for asking for nudes. Okay, I think I'd probably take that. Well, you think that's a decent deal? Yeah. I guess if you're married to Ami Akarni you've priced it in. He said at the time he gave an interview and he said I am willing to go to therapy to stop me sending texts to women who aren't my wife. Really makes it sound like he has no part in that. Do you stop doing it? you don't need therapy it sounds like the end of this road is just literally a lobotomy where they remove the bit of his brain in a way he kind of acts like that just the bit of his brain that makes him do it but so you say he's this whole case is this just like this has gone so far now that amir has to like follow through on the case like he's been caught out he's been caught out demanding nudes from this woman his wife is obviously pissed off and he's now just had to be like, we should sue her.
35I'm angry as well. I'm as angry as you are. I'm as angry as you, honestly. He's the guy from the meme. You know, the old bloke who's subscribed to loads of porn and his wife gets the bill and he denies it and they end up like suing the satellite company claiming they never bought it. You know, the famous photo, can we get it up, Jack? Where it's like them holding up the bill in front of their TV being like, we never signed up to television X. You can see him just like side eyes.
08I'll link to it for people who are just listening, but that's the look of a man who's lie has got big on him. Now I've got BBC news round. It's like, it's too late to come clean now, isn't it? Yeah, I mean, Khan's just doing the celeb version of that, isn't it? Yeah. Let's take her all the way to high court. Well, that's what's happening. anyway G-wagons and too much clothes aren't Amir Khan's only empty displays of affection so a few years ago he met Alex Ferguson his hero and he tweeted a picture of them and he captioned it lovely to meet Sir Alex Ferguson best known for managing Manchester United from 1986 to 2013 he's widely regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all time which is it's factual quite factual but it's nice until you realise it is a direct quote from Alex Ferguson's Wikipedia.
03The first paragraph of Alex Ferguson's Wikipedia. Just cut and paste that. Yeah. Just great to meet Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson. Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson, CBE. Born 1941 in Gauvin, Glasgow. Just interesting that stuff about him doing the treble in 99, isn't it? Yeah. That's got to be one of the least sincere. Yeah. Which is a bit of a theme for Amikov, but I kind of think it's not his fault. I mean, judging by the sex that he was sending, I don't think he could have penned anything more heartfelt to Sir Alex. So maybe that is just a safe bet. JP's father-in-law used to promote for Amir Khan's boxing fights like when he was young.
43Oh, yeah. And he said he was like the nicest, he was like such a lovely, like really dedicated guy. That's what happens when you get punched in the head repeatedly for 20 years. I mean, maybe he is nice, he just has this one problem. Yeah. Which, he's willing to have someone to address. just stop him. He just needs one of those like chastity belts and then he'll be fine. He's actually not the only champion accused of sticking his knob where the sun don't shine. Judd Trump, world snooker number one, had a very nasty incident over the weekend. Poor fella. Someone posted a video on his Instagram story of a man masturbating.
23Oh, that is, that is, I hate it when that happens. Yeah. Yeah. So Judd, Judd quickly fired out an update insisting, you guessed it, he'd been hacked. Of course he has, yeah. He said, I'm trying to regain control of the account, which sort of makes it sound like one of those like Steven Seagal 90s action movies where they're like, you know, the criminals have taken over the plane and we're trying to regain control. Also, you've clearly got control because you're posting this update. But immediately after. Yeah. Very unfortunate for him. There's been a bit of speculation, a bit of sleuthing on the Upshot subreddit.
55I just want to credit Meath77 who suggested that the man in the video is wearing Judd's watch I mean if you are going to sneak into somebody's hotel room and frame them for masturbating in bed by posting video but you've got to go whole hog slip the watch on I hate it when people do that it is annoying actually I got quite forensic on the watch it's quite weird it's got like a really small face is that just beside the beside the corner. To be fair, if I was doing a wanking video, I would get the smallest watch. I'd get some like tiny coins made. A tiny two pound coin and just have it on the table next to it.
39A tiny matchbox. Just do it and do it in one of those like doll's house with everything miniature. So I'm not sold on the watch thing. But Meath also wrote, if I was Columbo confronting Judd, I'd be about to leave, but stop and say, just one more thing. I noticed you gripped your penis with the left hand. Aren't you famously left-handed? Which, good bit of intel. Eagle-eyed. But I looked it up. Judd Trump, he does play with his left hand, but he's actually a natural righty. Okay. So where does that leave us? Well, do you think you masturbate and play snooker or pool with the same hand? Is it like...

22As with Q, also with cock. If anyone's ever done a piss next to Judd Trump, can you let us know on the gossip line? Where does he, how does he grasp? Yeah, which arm did he appear to be using? Yeah. Do you use your strong hand or your strong hand? I don't know. What do you do, strong hand? Well, I'm right for everything. Which makes it simple. Yeah. I should have said left, so that if I ever do have a scandal in future. Yeah. I'm now insured yeah yeah let us know on JP's gossip line we'll put the number in the show notes because I can't remember what it is JP's not here yeah I don't know I'm not I'm tempted to agree with Judd because I you know this whole like that he's been hacked you know this whole like of course you would say you were hacked thing surely it's got to the point now that if you did really want to fuck someone over hacking their account and doing that is actually quite effective yeah it's there's definitely doubt on it I found myself doing so much sleuthing on this.
21How many times have you watched the video and still I was like freeze framing for the watch at one point I googled to check if he was circumcised or not which is a low point and then I just thought back to when I did my journalism master's degree. Yeah. Sometimes you know when people are like your job must be so fun doing this podcast and then it's like there are good days and bad days. Yeah it's fun I don't know if I'd call it glamorous but yeah anyway I'm inclined to believe Judd I think he's There's enough doubt. Yeah. It's not a prune beyond reasonable doubt. I can't find a picture of him wearing that watch.
57It's not like when Ian Botham tweeted a picture of his cock, you take one look at it and you're like, that knob can only belong to Ian Botham. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, much like with Raheem Sterling and the balloon, there's a limit to what we could fully ascertain. And for legal reasons, it's difficult to claim whether, difficult to say with any degree of certainty. Yeah, we can't know. Can Judd Prompt prove it in a court of law? or is it the burden of proof the burden of proof is on the hacker I very much hope to not find the answer to that question now can we get Lord Panic on the line to advise on this one I think it actually could have happened he lives in Dubai doesn't he Panic's turf Judd Trump lives in Dubai Judd Trump the other random thing about him is he was with Harry Maguire when Maguire got arrested in Corfu they were like partying in Mykonos He's like Snooker's glamour gal.
53Glamour puss. Glamour puss. Yeah. Which I guess this is not what you want. It's not a crowded field. It's got to be said. Yeah. He's just edged out the guy with gout. The guy who shat himself. What was the other one? The guy who got like, it was at the Turkish Masters and he was supposed to meet all these sponsors and then got like thuggishly pissed in the toilet and like watched he fell over and banged his head on the toilet. He slipped in his own sick, I think. Yeah. He's more glamorous than that guy. Than that guy, yeah. It was that guy's birthday. True. But I can't believe we've got this far without talking about the Champions League final.
32Yeah. There's been some big stories to mention first. But yeah, PSG fans went fucking mental. As per? As per. I mean, I normally think that vibe they reserve for like a six month freeze on pension increases in Paris, not defending the Champions League crown, but it was the full works. Bin fires, scraps of the police, burning piles of e-bikes. Yeah, there was a lot of that. Why? Is that the new thing? It's better than setting fire. Because it would always, traditionally it would be bins. Yeah, or like get a cobblestone out. Those wheelie bins. Yeah, cobblestones. But I guess bikes are just, there's a lot of them about.
11Yeah. It is what you want from Paris, I would say, is some like wanton destruction. I love France, but there's just that faint air of menace at all times. 780 people were arrested. Good. Quite a lot. I mean, you'd have to say, if you looked, if you saw Paris and North London on Sunday, you didn't know the result of the game, you would assume Arsenal had won the Champions League, wouldn't you? Yeah, I mean, it looked like generally good vibes. Yeah, great vibes. North London. Yeah, I had a look. police said 75 arsenal fans were rescued from heights like a cat that's like chased a squirrel and then got stuck in a tree that was great it's real like fireman sam shit yeah so what then i'm really picturing them just like halfway up a lamppost just like forlorn yeah i think it was and then how do they get you down it's yeah creaky lad a cherry picker yeah yeah that's i think that's that's good name i'd say it looked like a lot of fun yeah a couple of my girl mates went down to chirps Arsenal fans and they said it was very fruitful.
15Oh, really? They specifically went out to... Yeah, they put on Arsenal shirts. Not totally sure they support Arsenal. They might. To just go and chat up. And I was... My wife was showing me a stream of pics and the guys were... Yeah. I would say if you are looking to... I don't know why that's a good event. I guess it's got a bit of that like summer, like festival feel. Yeah, it did look like that. Yeah. Okay. What was their chat up line? I think you just wear the shirt and yeah I think you're more of a recipient of chat-up lines in that case good luck to them congrats as for the as for the fellas up the lamppost I was thinking that is a bit risky you could you could have an accident oh you could that's why they needed rescuing yeah and you know then you could have an accident I guess that would be your fault if you had an accident yeah I did see Martin Odegaard threw a football off the bus and it hit a policeman yeah that was a good clip yeah well if that cop is listening do you want to sue Martin Odegaard?
13Because if so, got the lawyers for you. Injury lawyers for you. Yeah. Lord Panic's new firm. They've just made it a bit exciting. Sort of human rights in a way. Yeah. In a way, the intern had an accident at work. I reckon that intern's probably got a case against Southampton, doesn't he? Yeah, I'm sure he probably does. Yeah, his reputation, reputational damage. If he slipped and fallen at the Middlesbrough training pitch, maybe he could have brought a claim. I mean, if he'd climbed the tree like the Arsenal fans, he might have avoided detection, but could have ended it on Asti. Or if you've slipped and burned yourself on a pile of flaming lime bikes in Paris.
52Yeah. Got the lawyers for you. I love that we've had the injury lawyers for you sponsored you for like a week or two now. And now just every story, every room I'm in, I'm just surveying it for possible claims. I've turned into like Lionel Hutz. Yeah. Yeah. we're going to become like those um parents that are just absolutely paranoid every every sharp corner is like covered over yeah it's that we're going to get the we've got the um antibacterial spray for every surface yeah uh and i will too you yeah yeah we actually they gave us a new merch they did it's uh what have you got a water bottle which i i wouldn't say it's the best merch I've ever seen.
36But I was thinking about it and I think I'd be concerned if my lawyer had really good merch. Right. By that token, these guys are top notch. Yeah, they definitely haven't been expending too much time and energy on the merch, which is a good thing because they're fighting for you. Yeah, exactly. Don't waste your time on fucking water bottles. Yeah, it's nice. Yeah, it's nice. We've got some mugs as well. Anyway, if you've had an accident that wasn't your fault, you need injury lawyers for you. It's no win, no fee, which typically works out at around 25 % of the money you get. Goes to their lawyer.
13Looked it up. Bit of trivia. Details in the description. Now, one man who definitely will not be torching line bikes and hiring them at the gendarmes is PSG keeper Matvei Safonov, who, he's a funny looking fella, Matvei, gotta say. He looks like this old guy you'd find working behind the till in cash converters who has one of those massive vapes. The big vape I can really see. Why? Because of the like - There's a scrape back ponytail. Scrape back ponytail. It's like quite greasy ponytail. Like he's quite sunstarved. Yeah. I mean, for me to rinse people for being pale and greasy long haired feels a bit rich, but - Yeah.
00Yeah. Nonetheless, he is. he is yeah um Barney Roney he described him as Licky as like Licky like he'd wandered into a pub in Maidston and is trying to sell you a bag of kidneys um so yeah strange looking guy yeah that did not put off Russian porn star Mary Rock so before the final Mary popped up uh offering Matt Vey a night of passion for every save that he made in the final a very save yeah which actually didn't didn't Arsenal only have one shot? One shot on target. They only had one shot on target and they scored from it. So no sex. No sex, unfortunately. From that day. Maybe it was in his head.
42Maybe, yeah. So much pressure. It kind of sounds like a Mikel Arteta stunt. Had Arsenal been trying a lot of long shots, I'd be tempted to believe that Mary Rock is in cahoots with Win the Dog and Nicolas Jovert. Yeah. Or maybe his wife had had a word with him. if I see one fucking save from you Matt Bay I don't know it feels like this whole um porn stars offering stuff to players it's become it's quite par for the course with the sort of it's clout chasing attention seeking only fans models yeah um which did work I mean we're talking about her now and she did make it into the into the hallowed pages of the Daily Star there you go that stunt uh but anyway before Matt Bay could make a save or or even as much as fire up his dms and ping her a fire emoji uh his wife popped up to put cold water on that idea so she she did an interview she said mary has no idea that for matt vay passionate nights mean doing crosswords watching the quiz show what where when and going to bed at 11 30 p.m ouch yeah yeah uh so that's presumably she gave that interview while leaning out of the window holding a rolling pin.
04I see you, mate. One fucking time. What time do you call this? Yeah. So she's basically saying, what, he lives a boring life? He's a boring fuck. Is that her being a bit like, well, yeah, he doesn't give me any... I don't know. Yeah, is that... Because 11.30pm is quite late. It's quite late to be going to bed. Yeah. I mean, if you've got time for what, where, when, then you've got time for a quick... Weakest link in a quick... Quick bonk, yeah. Yeah, before bed. I don't know. maybe he's just really into I've never watched What Where Then maybe it's bloody good I'm reading can't switch off there's just repeats all night and he's just staying up just one more episode I'm reading it slightly as her being like yeah like that's not his thing stay away but also a bit of a dig at him for yeah maybe what she's she's she's saying it's time to up you yeah yeah performance get some more saves actually it would have been really good if he just made loads of mad saves just like Gordon Banksing it off the line but yeah none none for him did Mary Rock respond?
07because this shows that he knew about it by the way his wife's responding to it yeah true I don't know if Mary Rock's I mean there was no business for her really I think it's a breath of fresh air because we always talk about like we talked last week about Marco Borrello is that his name? yeah Marco Borrello whose wife claims that they shagged 36 times a day which is obviously bollocks. Quite refreshing for a wife to come out and be like, it's courtly missionary. Lights off, socks on. Get it done. Yeah. You know. Yeah, he's honest at least. Yeah, possibly too honest. Oh, well. Do you reckon they celebrated on Champions League night as Paris burned him and his wife?
49I guess they were in Budapest. They were in Budapest, so. Don't know. City of love. Actually, speaking of Gordon Banks, I mentioned him. Have you seen this crazy theory about England being poisoned by the CIA? I saw this. This is quite mad. I don't really know the ins and outs. Anyway, there's this new podcast about it with this journalist, Gabriel Gatehouse, and Gordon Banks' grandson are on it. And I spoke to Gabriel earlier. Why on earth would the CIA in 1970 want to poison an English goalie to stop them from winning the World Cup? Well, says Ed, Gordon Branks' grandson, it was all to do with Brazil and the military dictatorship there and the Cold War.
29And there was this military dictatorship in Brazil that the Americans wanted to support. And they thought Brazil winning the World Cup would give them a nice popularity boost. So I was like, OK, I kind of had two simultaneous thoughts, right? First of all, like this sounds highly implausible, highly, highly, highly implausible. Secondly, if it's even vaguely plausible enough to investigate, it's the best story ever, right? It's brilliant. So I did a little bit of digging. And immediately I found that A, the source was incredibly plausible, a very senior senator who got briefings from the CIA. And then there were all these other things that started to look weird and odd.
11So I started pulling at the threads. I spent three years on this, pulling at threads, calling up sources, ex-CIA agents and officers, digging through archives. And do you know what? I've uncovered more than I could possibly, possibly ever have imagined. Are you buying it? I mean, initially, no. The story just sounds so ridiculous. did the CIA not have something better to do in 1970 than poison England goalkeeper but what he said about it coming from the source of it being somebody someone who worked at the CIA yeah and a senator senator that was it I'm intrigued I didn't want to play too much of the interview because it's too long but I did press Gabriel on it and he said he was surprised by how much compelling evidence there was he wouldn't really give me a conclusion either way.
09By the way, the podcast is called Foul Play. If you want to listen to it. And they go into the whole story and more. I think they come to a conclusion. I'm not exactly sure. I haven't finished it yet. But the thing is, the CIA were doing some mental shit back then. Do you know what I mean? That would seem trivial. Yeah, true. One of my favorites. You know, they were testing, I think this is maybe the 60s or 50s. They were testing whether LSD could be used for mind control. And they were using Kool-Aid. They were giving people Kool-Aid, spiked with LSD, and not telling them... As in people didn't know they were taking LSD.
45Who? Their own agents, often. What? When they're like sent out on... Yeah, it's called MKUltra. There's a mental like New Yorker long read. I'm sure there are books about it. Wow. Just to see if they're more like attentive. They were like, maybe this can be a tool of mind control. Spoiler, it's not. Quite the opposite. But yeah, they do some... Mind is out of control. Yeah, my point being, they did some quite mad shit. Yeah. Sorry, for people watching, the reason we've got Kool-Aid on the table right now is because we just did a Patreon about the Jonestown Massacre. Yeah. It's really good. It's a very, very, very massive story.
18Surprisingly funny. The CIA also, I think I've told this one before about them fucking dolphins. Go on. I don't remember this. So it's quite a long story. I'll get into the whole thing. But like, long story short, they basically were trying to teach dolphins to communicate they thought that they could like communicate with dolphins and they had this doctor who uh they built they built this house where the doctor was like this is genuine it sounds like bollocks but it's genuinely true they had this um these like scientists who were working with the dolphin spending a lot of time with the dolphin and trying to like gradually work out a way to communicate with it and they ended up building like a house that there was one that this one female doctor uh who was building up quite a good bond with the dolphin and they spent she spent a lot of time they basically like rebuilt this house so that she could like be in the house with the dolphin in water and the dolphin had quite long days like doing its learning its vowels and stuff like that and it used to get quite horny and rather than they thought like the best way to sort of keep the dolphin's attention she started wanking the dolphin off this is genuinely true it's the only way you gotta fuck it yeah dolphins have knobs yeah right yeah yeah and what and that so she started shagging dolphins she she i don't think she was shagging but she would wank it off gave his blowhole a tickle yeah yeah no this is genuinely true um they even have blowholes um that's mental sorry in what way is this a cia project i don't know why the because they're thinking that can be like carrier pigeons basically they can like i think so but they but they but they thought that might be a way to communicate with them because i guess if you could use them like carrier pigeon they can cover way bigger distances yeah oceans yeah yeah maybe you can teach them to listen to like sonar and yeah and you know if You've got to wank off dolphins in the meantime.
20Yeah. I think that woman just wanted to wank off dolphins. She created an entire CIA operation. Yeah. Also, you could teach these dolphins to talk. You're expecting like, what are they going to tell us about the Russians? What the Russians are building over there? And all you get is just like herring over there. Loads of herring. Oi, look. Let's go this way. They always said they were such clever creatures. all right well Gabriel Gatehouse there's your series two for the foul play podcast yeah when you're done proving they poisoned Gordon Banks can you get on to why they were wanking off dolphins there's a blind boy did a podcast about I bet that's good it's good yeah now back to sport and I've been sort of back to sport that was all sport wasn't it that was all obviously Champions League that was the biggie at the weekend in some quarters yeah I would argue that there was one other event that that dwarfed it in sort of sporting prestige.
20And that of course is soccer aid, a big three, two win for England against the rest of the world. Huge, huge. That's what you need in the buildup to work up a big, monumental sort of statement victory. Yeah. The mirror went with the headline, angry ginge and Jermaine Defoe steal the show for England. Well done, ginge. Yeah. I agree. I agree. Ginge rock at the back. Apparently Defoe scored twice and is now the outright top scorer in soccer aid history. you'll never sing that has anyone updated the honours section of his wikipedia so what he's just overtaken Lee Mack exactly he's put some distance between himself and chunks Paddy McGuinness is good in tears um yeah it was a decent line up for England actually Wayne Rooney oh we're gonna do this what formation uh they I think it was a 4-4-2 interesting just a solid who's the manager it's presumably not that was too cool Harry Redknapp Harry Redknapp oh of course Harry Redknapp and Robbie Williams I think rest of the world was managed by Usain Bolt oh nice yeah any big names for them no Yaya there was no Yaya after what happened after previous there were I can't remember Jordi Alba was on there a couple of others I can't remember now I don't yeah so England Wayne Rooney Joe Hart Jolien Lescott Lescott Jack Wilshere as well who I didn't realise is only 34 yeah by all rise he could be playing in the actual Champions League final for Arsenal but was he playing in soccer right?
57yeah lining up alongside Paddy McGuinness and Danny Dyer Tom Grennan yeah Grennan was there Grennan was there he's always supportive of the world slash England yeah maybe Raheem Sterling next year let's see let's see how things pan out Yeah, let's see how things pan out. Maybe him and Yaya Torre could form their new team. Yeah. Sort of the enhanced games version of Soccer Aid. Well, there's Wormington. There's only one rule in the enhanced World Cup. You are allowed cat.
32You can do whatever you want in the hotel the night before. And in the WhatsApp group. But yeah, Jack Wilshere was there. Obviously, he's had his injuries. Had to retire early, so it's good to see him playing. Is he not managing now? So he's managing Luton. Yeah. How's that going? They're not. Dunno. Dunno. Passed. Who cares? Next question, please. But yeah, it's good to see him playing. There will be one fan, though, who will have struggled to pull on the famous Soccerade England jersey and get behind the team this year. And that is fish and chip shop owner Stasi Kiriakou. He claims that he was good friends with Jack.
14Wilshire uh until Jack broke the bro code and started going out with his ex so this is back when uh when when Wilshire was still playing for Arsenal and the the woman in question is Andriani Michael Michael who Wilshire started dating in 2014 apparently they met because her dad ran a barber shop where Jack used to get his hair cut it's quite a nice story. It's quite nice that Jack Wilshire makes all his friends on the high street. Yeah. Yeah. He just gets a bag of chips. After that, add a chinwag with the butcher. Yeah. He's saving the high street. Exactly. Unless you're the fish and chip shop owner.
57He's just pilfering your girlfriend. Yeah, his girlfriend and your missus. Did he meet her when... Do you know what I mean? Is that how it started? Jack's nipped him for a Savaloi. The guy thought he was mates with Jack Wilshire, but Wilshire was just always in there chatting up his girlfriend. fish and chirps really not going to make a Savilloy joke it's not necessary she battered his sausage
24yeah fish and chip shops always have quite creative names don't they what was this one called I'm getting a Greek vibe I feel like quite a lot of fish and chip quite a lot of fish and chip shops have that and I think maybe Cypria because it's North London and her surname's Michael like George Michael George Michael just a theory yeah so anyway Stasi was not happy because Jack I mean he'd broken up with presumably he did stop coming in for the fish and chips once Stasi's sick girlfriend left coincidentally but yeah Stasi said to the press at the time I'm mad at him Jack my ex and her family it won't work out with those two though yeah she'll come crawling back she'll come crawling back so will Jack unfortunately for Starzy that was not the case because her and Jack got married two years later they now have two kids and they're still together yeah yeah so poor old Starzy he was a big Arsenal fan as well that actually must be so shit if you're watching like you're a massive Arsenal fan and then your mates Jack Wilshere you love him the most yeah and then he does that but you can't watch I mean I guess Jack Wilshere was probably barely playing by the time it happened yeah true No one would have been happier about the arc Jaguars.
41I don't know if Jaguars... Yeah, true. But I guess that guy just had to turn to soccer aid after that. I can't watch Premier League anymore. He's just looking for the big game, seeing Chunks and Chunks take on Andrea Pila. And then who should fucking pull on the famous colours? Exactly. I don't know if he supports Arsenal and England soccer aid. They're like, you know, that bloke, he supports Birmingham, Santos and England. Hasn't he got a tat? He's got a tattoo. He's got a picture of him. It's all three badges. Stasi's just got Arsenal and England soccer. That guy who supports Santos, Birmingham and England, he's like, he goes to every game, doesn't he?
18Of all three. Yeah. I think he does Santos like, maybe not every game. Flies back and forth. And he's always topless in the picks. Yeah. And very sunburned by the looks of it. He's getting that at Sao Paulo, not Birmingham. I dread to think what goes down in Sao Paulo. Not just a haircut. Do you think that was his excuse to his wife? Why do you keep going back to Sao Paulo? Sao, just big Santos, big Santos. Huge Santos. Had to get their tattoo. Santos move. It was all, it's a bit like Amir Khan and the taking this girl to court. Well, the light gets big on you. Yeah, the light gets big on you.
54Suddenly you got a season ticket at Santos. Suddenly you're at the fucking Libertadores game in Paraguay wondering what you're doing. Yeah. I like that Jack Wilshere met his wife while he was getting a haircut. I guess so so she was going out with his mate around the fish and chip shop and then she was the daughter of his barber yeah and what he was getting a haircut and I don't know she was in there sweeping up the hair maybe yeah that's quite in this day and age of like thirsty DMs yeah Mary Rock had to learn a thing or two from that exactly that's sweet that's like you know our parents generation yeah lovely unless you're starzy in which case it's quite a painful moment alright well thanks a lot for listening to The Upshot, sponsored by Injury Lawyers for you.
39I thought before we go, we'd just leave you with a message from our absent co-host who is getting married today, breaking a lot of hearts, but fear not because he has got this motivational message for you.
