In short

Madelyn Cline (Madeline Klein) returns to Therapist to discuss Outer Banks’ final season, her favorite season-five moments, and what it’s like wrapping a long-running show. The conversation also covers Coachella, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”/music-video appearance, Love Island reactions, and relationship/social issues (people being chronically late, friend-group isolation when others couple up, and handling awkward confessions).

Key claims

She says she felt “happy and proud” rather than pressured to cry on Outer Banks’ final day, and that Judd’s directing style for The Comeback King keeps actors from overthinking. She argues that people should speak up when they feel unheard and that AI chatbots can’t replace real social connection.

Notable examples

A “Scooby-Doo” chase scene where she laughs mid-run, hits a co-star, and skids; Coachella anxiety during the Bieber mass exodus; being mistakenly treated as a “madam” in Spain; and a “pissed-the-bed” dating anecdote.

Guests

Madelyn Klein/Cline (guest). Host: “Therapist” (unnamed in transcript).

24Welcome back to Therapist. Tonight we have on the wonderful Madeline Klein again, who is a dear, dear, dear friend of mine. I remember meeting her a few years ago when we were at the airport. We were both waiting for our backs and she came up to me and I was just immediately so disarmed by how warm and kind she was as a person. And every time I get to see her, hang out with her, I always feel so lucky. and every time she chooses to come on the show, I also just feel so grateful. So Madeline, thank you for coming back to Therapist. I love you so much. The final season of Outer Banks starring Madeline Klein is out August 20th on Netflix.

09It is obviously incredible. She is incredible and enjoy the episode. I love you, pussies. Hi, pussies. Today we have movie star, television star and one of my best friends, Madeline Klein, back on the podcast. You're so bad. I missed you. I know, I've missed you too. When was the last time? Was that like a year and a half ago? No. Oh, that was like the last time we hung out. No, that was not. Wait, actually, that was not the. No, and we're going to get into it. The last time we hung out was I got to play with Madeline and Glenn on their new movie. The Comeback King. Which was one of the best days of my life.

47I had so much fun. That was the best day of my life. I was struggling that morning. Yep. You know how my hangovers always last me two days? Yeah. That was day two. So I was also a little stressed out. I was on day one. Yeah. Do you want to come sit? Oh, yeah. This is Madeline's dog, Rodney. But he's really distracted by the gaggle. Does he want to leave? Yeah, I think he does. Okay. Goodbye, Rodney. Okay. Well, very short cameo by Rodney. Hi. Hi. I love you.

25hi hi okay okay outer banks is coming to a close coming to a close five seasons five 50 episodes wow five zero which actually like when you say 50 it doesn't for seven years of filming it doesn't feel like it's oh wine thank you manny i love these cups me too are these room temperature these are my cups i love your cups oh definitely brats cheers cheers eyes eyes eyes we'll never have bad sex well i don't have sex so that shouldn't be hard me neither 50 episodes oh someone's but what is there's a party i think we're speaking right now through our brains yeah and we need to speak through our mouths 50 episodes seven years seven years so when you say like 50 episodes it seems like it should it doesn't seem like as many it it makes it seem i don't know like for the amount of work that we put in 50 episodes like 40 minute episodes doesn't feel like that much but it was like most it was most of my 20s it was almost your entire 20s most of like yeah like most of a decade and what did it feel like on like that last day of set okay so this is tea okay give it um so i am one of those people that does my morning in like i like i process it slowly over time like i i think ahead like i love to cross a bridge before it comes.

05Me too. I'm the same exact way. It's like, let's plan for the cross out now. I love putting a cart before a horse. Yes, always. And so I, I like had many, oh my God, there's so many things happening, guys. I'm so sorry. It's kind of beautiful how many things, oh my God, I love your phone case. Okay, so chaotic. Wow. So apparently it's a full moon today. Yeah, Mercury's back in retrograde. Okay, what does that, what does that mean for like our signs? It means, what are you again? I'm a Sagittarius. I don't know what it means for us, but Mercury in retrograde is never good. Hmm. I'm scared. No, it's never good.

45It's actually quite horrible. No, actually, like, today has felt like a retrograde day. Yeah, no, Peyton's not having a good one. Really? Yeah, but pretty bad. I need to call her. So tell me about the last day on set and putting the cart before the horse. Oh, yes, okay, so cart before horse. So I had already kind of done my morning, like, throughout the entirety of shooting season five. Uh-huh. And so when it came to the last day, everyone was sobbing and I was cheesing. You were just like. I was like, I've already cried. Right. I was in a state of mind that I had no tears left to cry. Ariana Grande.

19Like Ariana Grande said. And so I felt really bad because I kind of felt, like, psychotic. right you know but you know i also thought about it in the in like the the context of a scene you know how you like when you're watching a scene where everyone's like devastated and crying and sobbing and having the same you know i think it's always interesting but i also think it could be like did you feel this is so niche but did you feel like pressured to cry so then you didn't cry some okay so that's another thing too i'm like sometimes i feel like sometimes i feel like i am there is a pressure to cry because it means you're sad but really like I was sad but I was more just like happy and proud of of all of like our collective accomplishment right um and that there were so many people there on the last day to not just the pogues but like lots of other cast members it was a really big day the hair and makeup trailer was like a full house yeah so I I was just more, I was more just happy that we were able to celebrate together at the end of the day.

27When they said like, that's a picture wrap on Madeline Klein. Like, did your, what did your body, like, what did you feel? I am going to mourn it so much, but like, it's a, you know, I am just so proud. I'm so proud of it. It feels like you're putting a ribbon. Yes, it puts, yes. On a huge body of work. A hundred percent. I think you're very much allowed to be happy. yeah I'd be like this is it celebratory story is over totally proud of what you did exactly and I felt so proud and like where like how we I put like you know we put the story to bed we put Sarah Sarah to bed like we told the story we told it well hopefully like we made a show that people are going to want to go back and watch over and over and over again and and I you know honestly Like I'm really happy to not have to go shoot back, shoot in bogs and grassy knolls with gnats.

21And that's okay. And that's okay. Can't even, can you imagine me in that environment? Oh my God. I wish I could take you on a, on a vibe tour. What is the scene you're most proud of in season five? I'm proud of any, so okay. I'm, I break a lot. Like you laugh. I laugh a lot. Okay. Like, and I can't help it. Well, we were laughing. We were. At the comeback game. We were laughing. And so any time I start laughing, a lot of times it's because, like, when we're running, it feels like Scooby-Doo. Or that we, like, we're, like, scurrying one way. And then, like, bad guys come around the corner. And then we have to, like.

58Scurry the other way. And I just started laughing at, like, the whole situation. Because it was so Scooby-Doo, like, that I had to turn my face away from the camera. and it was a it was like a drone so it was following us uh-huh I did turn my face away from the camera and I was running full speed without looking where I was going because I was laughing so hard and I ran straight into the back of Madison uh-huh hit her so hard and then went flying like like and I went flying to the ground and skidded on the ground six feet and then it was one of those falls where people were like oh which is so embarrassing and then I just all I remember doing is like hitting her and then seeing blue because I was staring up at the sky Right.

41Okay. I was actually quite worried for a second. I was like, what do you mean? What do you mean by that? I know. And then there's nothing. And then you start laughing because it's like embarrassing. But you're also laughing because you want everyone to think, to know you're okay. Right. And then they were like, okay, now can we continue the scene? Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're like, are you good? Okay, now. I fell down the flight of stairs when I did a guest star thing at Adults. Oh, no. Like. Like full, fell down the stairs, banked by my head, like huge thing. Everyone saw it. It was so, it was mortifying.

14You just got it. I'm really proud of us. I'm proud of us too. Those are the scenes I'm really proud of. So for those that don't know, Madeline and I spent a lovely weekend at Coachella together. Yes, we did. It was very fun. It was fun. Who did we see together? Okay, Sabrina? We saw, no. You were with all the girls. I was with Charlie and Will and Cassidy. That's right. Shit, that's right. Were you there for the strokes? Yes, I saw the strokes. Amazing. Amazing. That was amazing. I want to for my birthday. Because they're performing in New York on October 2nd. We gotta go. And I want to go again.

47We gotta go. That was truly like that was. That was unmatched. It was euphoric. I was having the time of my life. We were having so much fucking fun. So much fun. And then after the strokes. You disappeared for Bieber. I did. Because I started to get really anxious. Totally valid. Because I figured out that we would have to stay there and wait. We did. And I know. And then I was like, oh, my God. And then what happens after Bieber ends? The mass exodus. Yeah. Yeah. It was, Madeline, it was so horrible. My brain, like, I went down the slide of anxiety and despair when I was thinking about, like, mentally, when I was thinking about the exit plan.

34And I was like, I started to panic. Yeah. A thousand percent. And by the way, everything was cut off. I forget what it was, but they were like, we've never seen this in Coachella history. Like, there were so many people there. Louise was with me. It was horrible. Like, you, like, it was horrible. It sounded so scary. And then also at the same time. And she's laughing at me because we had the best setup where a golf cart drove us home. No, I'm laughing. No, your setup was unbelievable. Wait, you know the golf cart died on our way, on our way, on our way back from Bieber. Twice. The golf cart died.

08We started pushing it, like shaking it. And I was like, please, I need to go home. I need to get, I need to go, I need to go home. I was freaking the fuck out. Everything was closed out. Oh yeah, I was already, like I was, again, cart before horse. Bridge before it came. Actually this time, you, that was correct. Because I should have known. But I also had so much FOMO because I was thinking about all like the parties. And like I was hearing the girls download about like the night. and Sally's download and Sally's download was crazy. Sally's download was crazy. I've never heard that before. Download.

44I love that. Yeah. Download. I'm going to start using that. Generational. Yeah. It was it was it was all time. Yeah. That weekend was really special. No that weekend was I'm so glad you guys convinced me to go to that weekend even though I'm really sad I miss Madonna. Me too. That physically hurt. Me too. But watching that. Oh my God. What was it like being in the house tour music video i don't know if we ever even spoke about it actually i don't think we did no um honestly to be to to be able to like

19do spiders kind of count as octop octopus right there see it like right here where my finger is no like literally next to my finger oh oh my god oh my god um nolan what is it's missing legs It's like a daddy long hug.

04purchase. Lollapalooza looked so fun. Like I forget how incredible it is to be in a crowd with an artist that you're passionate about or also like going to a festival and seeing an artist that you aren't, that you don't know. And then you fall in love with, like there's really no better feeling in the entire world than falling in love with someone's music while hearing it live. And SeatGeek makes that possible because they make getting tickets so accessible. Once again, that's code therapist for 10 % off your purchase. Once again, that's SeatGeek.com and you can use my code THERAPUS for 10 % off your purchase. Thank you again, SeatGeek, for sponsoring tonight's episode. How sore, how was that? To look in the mirror and to know that I am part of the Sabrinaverse is truly one of, I feel like it's one of my favorite accomplishments.

13And an accomplishment it is. Like, I mean, Sabrina, I adore Sabrina. I have loved her for so long. She is such a good, good person. She's such a good friend. And when she texted me to see if I wanted to be in a music video, I was like, yes. She was like, you don't want to know which one? Of course not. I was like, no, no. The answer is yes. Absolutely. If Sabrina Carpenter asks you to be in a music video, you're in the music video. Yeah. Like immediately. Immediately, yes. And was it just so fun to film? Yes. It was two full days of, we were in this big old house in the Hollywood Hills and it was just, like, it was all shot on film.

00And it was Sabrina and Margaret directing. It was their vision. And it was just two old days of girlhood and a bit of this and that and goofing off. Well, it was amazing. I, like, love seeing you be funny. I You know I always tell you Her comedic timing Louise is All timer It's all timer My favorite thing you've ever said Well first of all you were incredible in Knives Out But it was in I know what you did last summer And it was when I think your boyfriend Had just died And you come out and you go You know when like the girls are like you're sad But you still have to get ready It was so funny You know that meme It was so good and that's why I'm so excited for the comeback king because I think you're about to be hysterical and oh my god I had the best time shooting that I had the best time I was basically in drag the whole time are you wrapped?

57do you remember when I called you hungover? you called me when you were hungover and I said please let me come on the show and I was like Jake don't worry it's happening and it was fun we filmed I guess we can't say much, but it was amazing. We got to play. We got to play. We got to play one morning. It was so cool to see. What was it like working with Glenn? I love Glenn. That's of all time. Glenn is genuinely one of the best people I have ever met in my life. He is like if the manual, the life manual of how to be a good person 101 came immediately, like already downloaded into his hard drive.

43because his he comes it's his he's such a family guy it's the southern charm and his like his family is like it's all that way his whole family is they're just like gold star humans they're it's just they're good eggs they're all good eggs and he's so talented so talented so good at what he does his comedic timing is amazing and like the way he has leaned into this role i think the way everyone leaned into this movie and the comedians we have on for this movie like Judd the I mean obviously Judd in general like that was such a like what I couldn't imagine how you felt every day because in those when I was doing my thing with you guys and I was hearing like Judd from the director's chair I was like I actually can't believe this is my life right now I know I was like, this might be one of the coolest things to ever happen to me.

41It is such play. And the way he directs is awesome. I know. I really like it. It's so, it is, it's such, it's something I have never experienced before. It is so unique, but it also, you know, what I love about it is that it kind of takes away any sort of ability to overthink. Yes. About anything. And you just like brain empty and you just do. Because he's like, wait, try this. Wait, do this. Wait, do this. You don't have time to think about it. You just do it. And you're just, you're so in the moment with it. It's so improv coded. Yeah, it is. It was, yes. And improv is my favorite type of comedy.

17Yeah. Oh my God, so fun. Now we need to talk about Love Island. Let's talk about Love Island. Because I'm not, okay, so I didn't watch the season, but Will made me watch Casa Amor last night. Okay, I'm two episodes behind. They just got back. So I watched the after sun right after the recoupling. The recoupling, brutal. I cried during Trinity and Bryce. I don't know why I cried. I was just like, oh my God, she's so relieved and he's so relieved. And they were matching. Did you see that? No. They were matching. They were matching butter yellow. They were just like so, by the way, do you know Bryce was a Tumblr it boy back in the day?

55I saw that. Like with Kendall, like fully. An it boy. An it boy. I was so obsessed with that. And then things obviously took a turn. Yes, that was a very, very nasty turn. The Corbin of it all was pretty nasty. Was Corbin the one that said about Kenzie, oh, Kenzie's out the window? Yes, when they live streamed. Here's my thing about Kenzie is I don't watch the show, so I have no ground to stand on, but I never understood why people didn't like her. I was obsessed with her from day one. I think she's always been, look, I think she is, I think she's sweet. I think she's funny and I think she's fantastic television.

37She's fantastic television. Yes. I forget. Do you watch Housewives? Okay. So I need to watch Rhode Island. Please. I really need to watch it. Madeline, please. I know. It is one of the best first seasons of Housewives I've ever, ever, ever seen. That's what I was, I've been hearing that they just do not give a fuck. They don't give a fuck and they've known each other since they were kids. What do they call it? They call it like a slam pig? A slam pig. Oh my God. Get out of my way. You're a slam pig. Get the fuck out of my house. Like. That thing is so funny. And then she shows up. The Kelsey who gets called the slay.

09Well first. Like the whole. To create the perfect first season of Housewives. You have to have somebody that has a very odd situation. So in Salt Lake it was Mary with her step grandfather. In Rhode Island it was Kelsey with her sugar daddy boyfriend. Who was dating. She was dating some guy. who lived in this massive house, but he had other girlfriends in Miami. And so she was like a polygamist. And Rosie was like, you're a polygamist. And then Rosie's house was also, Rosie's also building a house. And the house is supposed to be 5 ,000 square feet, but it's actually 2 ,500 square feet. So Kelsey would not let her breathe about it not being 5 ,000 square feet.

53That's really funny. And then Kelsey was like, you literally don't have a house. And then Kelsey at the reunion, or Rosie at the reunion said, your only coworkers was ever another girl in Miami. Like that was your only co-worker. It's basically being like you're a prostitute. You literally don't even have a house. You don't have a house. Speaking of prostitutes. Yeah. Speaking of. Who is one? Someone that we know. Speaking of prostitutes, did I tell you the story about how when I was in Spain, I was working and the police kept showing up to my apartment door. Thinking you were a prostitute? They thought I was like the leader.

32They thought you were a madam? How many girls were staying in your apartment? It was just me. So what did they keep saying? So I was talking with Penelope Cruz. Right. As one does. As one does. And she was asking me how I liked living in Madrid. And I was like, yeah, I like it. Like, hot take. I like Barcelona better. But I have, like. I love Barcelona. I do, too. And everyone's always like, what the fuck are you talking about? I love it. I know. I can't. I love it. I love it so much. I love the coast. I love like cateches like two hours up the road amazing just wine beach everything oh my god Barcelona's perfect seafood paella all of it paella the clubs the dancing you know when I went there was a strike and I couldn't go dancing there's a taxi cab strike there's always a strike in Europe there is always a strike in Europe I know I'm like mad for you so what were you saying about you being a madam.

30So I was telling her, I love it so much, but I have to move out of my apartment because the police keep showing up and I'm really scared and they keep talking to me in Spanish and I'm trying to translate, but I don't know how, but they keep taking my passport and my information and I'm scared because I'm like, what have I done wrong? And then Penelope was like, what's crazy? Like, where are you living? And I was like, I'm living in Salamanca. And she's like, that's my that's where i is it salamanca i think so and she's like that's my old neighborhood i was she was like what street are you on and i said the street and then she said what building number and i told her and she was like is it the yellow building down like an alleyway through a gate and i said yes and she said that's my old building shut the fuck up that's my first apartment building and she's like and my neighbor my old neighbor called me and told me that they had like they had tracked some like local like some like crime ring like in salamanca they attracted to i guess they attracted back to the building and i and they were coming to my apartment directly and i found out later that it was like some like sex ring and they thought you were the leader it was me leading it right they thought i was the madam of it so yeah so speaking of prostitutes so actually Speaking of prostitutes.

49But also like, also no hate at all. At all. At all. At all. But they thought that I was their fearless leader. And I was, and I was their fearful leader. I was the fearful leader. You were elected, I guess, by accident. I was accidentally elected. To be madam of the. And I wish they would have let me know. I wish they would have let me know because I would have, I probably would have been a lot braver about it. What else are you watching on television right now? Mostly Love Island. I just also started playing Fortnite. What? Yes. And I won my very first Battle Royale. I actually see you loving that.

28I was having so much fun. I have a Bugs Bunny skin. No, sorry. I have a Lola Bunny skin. And I just got the new Supergirl skin. How is Lucas? I love him so much. I miss him every day I'm not with him. Yeah, I know. I know. I was texting him on the way over. I was like, I need you. I need to come cuddle and cry because I think I'm about to start my period tomorrow. And it's the full moon and Mercury's in retrograde. Great. Oh, shit. It's a crazy combination. Is he here in L.A. right now? He is. Oh, and you were just at the Voicemails for Isabel premiere with him, right? I know I was. He was so great in that movie.

07Him and his mustache. He played straight. He did a really good job. He did a really great job. He did a really good job of being a diabolical straight man. Yeah, and he was so fucking funny too. And his souffle was ass. Ass. Did you watch Voicemails for Isabel? Yeah. Like, he was so fucking funny. He, and a lot of his stuff was just improv. I could tell. Yeah. You could always tell because it's always funnier. It's so funny. It's always funnier. It's just, improv is always funnier because it is quite hard, I feel like, to write a joke and perform that joke 10 times over. It always, it always is.

40it's never which is again why i think judd's directing style works so well is because it is never the same thing right you can like the thing is the only time it's the same thing is you can tell when he wants to get multiple versions of it is because he likes it but like he always likes to keep it fresh right and that's but yeah the first the first time something's funny is like lightning in a bottle crack making someone laugh is actually it is actually crack like hearing like when you were on set for the comeback king like when you would hear the crew laugh was it did it just like fuel you for the rest of the day oh it gave me like I would have to go home and take like a couple hours just to wind down because every day was the best day ever yeah because like especially especially these like this set and like the people that Judd right like his writing partners like his I mean his his filmmaking partners that he's worked with for so long it like I kept thinking oh my god like what what an honor to make them laugh right what an honor to make comedians laugh there's no better feeling holy shit like me yeah it's like yeah you know and also it is such a confidence boost because it's like oh i can't i can do this i okay okay i am employed and happy deserve and confident yeah and confident and confident in my ability to be employed yes or no i'm confident which is um you know sometimes i feel like you and i are two brain cells we are fighting over being the third yeah right uh-huh right it's because they're okay for reference madeline and i have not caught up in weeks.

27Did I just say for wefflints? For wefflints. For wefflints. Madeline and I have not caught up in weeks. We haven't. So what are you therapist about today? I'm therapist about people's, men's audacity. Uh-huh. And that is a. It's a real thing. It's a real thing. Yeah. But I would say that you handle it always with grace. Not this time? Oh, yeah. This time I did. Okay. Not every time. Okay. I'm learning how to handle things with grace. No, you handle things with grace. There are certain things you call me about that I'm like, holy shit, if I were you, I would literally burn the world down and you don't.

10Yeah. I'm learning how to, I wouldn't say hold back, how to have discernment in certain situations. Thank you, Amazon Prime, for sponsoring today's episode. If you are 18 to 24 years old, I am insanely jealous of you, not because of your youth, but because you are eligible for Prime for Young Adults. I've never been so sad to be 26, not just because I'm closer to 30, but because Prime for Young Adults is basically your own Prime membership, not your parents, yours. And Prime for Young Adults is half the price of regular Prime, which is$7.49 a month. And you also get 5 % cash back on eligible purchases.

50So if you're just restocking your usual hair stuff or you're treating yourself to something fun, you get 5 % cash back, no codes, no clipping coupons. It just shows up in your account, ready to use for your next purchase. It's like finally having your own place, but for Prime. I'm so jealous that this exists now because when I was in college, when I was like 18, I was using my parents' Prime account for everything and they were monitoring every purchase. It felt like I was constantly being watched. So I'm so jealous that Prime for Young Adults exists now because I wish I had that, my own autonomy back then.

18But you guys don't need to use your parents' account anymore. You deserve to buy yourself any necessities and a little treat here and there without anyone else's judgment. Prime for Young Adults. 5 % cash back, 100 % yours. Prime for Young Adults is only available for people 18 to 24 years old. Terms apply. Thank you, Prime, for sponsoring tonight's episode. Did you see the JoJo Siwa cruise? Okay, yeah, so can we talk about that? What? What was it? What? I wanted to be there. I did too. I really wanted. What is that? Like, I wanted to be there. It looked very, she's in the pool with everyone. telling them all about her birthday.

54She's like, there was a meet and greet in her penthouse suite. Like, I was like, I'm down. So, like, did she, like, pay for a cruise? No, so actually what happened was the rest, she rented out, like, a portion of the cruise. The rest of the cruise was, like, people on a cruise, and then the other half was JoJo Siwa fans. Okay, did you see, like, the, um, there was one guy who was doing, like, a rundown of the gift bag, like the AI slop stickers. Yes. Yes, the AI slop stickers and she performed Boomerang in actually like a very emotional way. Yeah, as like a heartfelt ballad. It was a heartfelt ballad.

32She did Boomerang as a heartfelt ballad. People were sobbing. Yeah. To be honest, put me in that situation and I probably would have been crying too. Yeah, I kind of wanted to be there with you. Jojo Siwa, people give her a lot of shit but what would we do without her is my question. Jojo Siwa kind of feels to me like the same way like Trader Joe's does. Please elaborate. Because I was actually talking about Trader Joe's the other day. Okay, so Trader Joe's to me kind of has this vibe where it's like what aliens would have built as a grocery store because they think that's what we would like. And the thing is, it's working.

09Yeah. And it is an experience. The first time I saw a Trader Joe's, I went into a Trader Joe's. I was like. Yeah, you're like, what's, the food doesn't feel real. It's real. It doesn't feel real. The whole, it feels like a little cultish, like when you don't understand. Like when it first came to Charleston and I was a teenager, I was like, why is everyone freaking out about this? Were people like gagging for Trader Joe's? People were gagging for Trader Joe's. Like people were leaving Whole Foods in droves to go over to the Trader Joe's. And then like now I get it. But it's like all the things they have, it's like what I think the aliens would, were, you know if they were studying us would be like does this make any sense yeah it makes complete and utter sense it's actually one of the most things that has made sense in this room in a long time and also i would like to say have you seen the videos of the people fighting over the trader joe's toes yes what what is that do you know yeah i've seen it so okay the little many ones were cute are they like are they like a jack so why are people freaking the fuck out about it though i actually don't know i don't know that part yeah i don't get it people are like in black friday style like over the each other like begging for these i know like how many were the minis it's like the it's like a birkin of trader joe's oh my god it's like the birkin of tote bags yeah oh my god what's your favorite trader joe's item my favorite trader joe's item because i know mine honestly like i know this is like a fad but like the chicken soup dumplings things they're great yeah my favorite is two things when I was a kid my dad used to make me their penne arrabbiata yeah all the time yeah it comes in it's frozen so you pour it out in the pan and there's cubes of sauce yes I love the and you make it and it tastes just like from a restaurant and then the bibimbap bowl I haven't tried that one it is nothing short of fantastic I could eat 10 in a row and they sometimes don't sell them at certain Trader Joe's and in college I would eat them in high school in middle school in college i would eat them almost daily i like i genuinely love going to trader joe's so much and also this is just an ad for trader joe's so basically thanks for watching thanks for getting it making it this far also the i think it's like the chicken wine like the red wine i've never had it so i mean i say it's a chicken wine there's an actual name for it but it has a chicken on it so it's wine it's wine got it red wine and And their peanut butter pretzels used to be like my nightly dinner.

44You want to try my candy? The Koch's? Yeah. Have you tried the sours? No. Do you like sour? Sour's my favorite. Manny, would you grab me a fresh pack of sourpuss? Manny, daddy. This is the week. This is actually a few weeks before, technically before it arrives at Target. Oh, wait. This is exclusive. Okay. It's so good, right? the texture. I know. Here's the thing. I'm not a candy person. Just wait till you get to the tentacles. Tense up, pussies. The texture of, like, gummy candy just doesn't really do it for me. I like high chews. Yeah, I love high chews. I like mochi. Like, this texture. Hard but soft.

28Right? It's, like, awesome. They're, like, actually so awesome. That's better than any, like, candy I've ever had. I know. That's how I feel. My favorite thing is Alex crashing out because she can't find the catches. Oh, it's the best thing ever. Wait, there's this video of her. She's trying to get caught. I don't know. I'm going to freak the fuck out. Cotches is at Wawa. Might take over my whole entire life. Do you think this is the only one they have? The wild free? Hi. Wild free. Cotches, yes, yes, yes. Cotches, yes, yes, yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Oh, my God. I'm just, what? Wait, guys, that's, Jake, they have them at Wawa.

08Oh, that's big. It's like, baby, you're big. Baby, you're big. God, isn't she the best? I love her. I genuinely love her so much. Me, Madeline, Stoss, and Alex all hanging, and Peyton all hanging out in one room. It's going to be tectonic, I fear. Yeah, the plates will shift. Louise said, Louise was like today, she was like, wait, so okay, you'll be back in LA on July 27th. I said, nope. Mm-mm. Uh-uh. No, honey, no baby. It's Ibiza time. Ibiza. Which I've never been. Have you been? Nope. Oh, shit. I'm really excited. Yeah. I'm having a lot of firsts this year with you guys. I know. Was it your first Coachella?

51Yeah, ever. Did you enjoy it? You know what I enjoyed? I enjoyed being with y 'all. Uh-huh. I enjoyed Sabrina's set, of course. Uh-huh. I enjoyed being, obviously, with the girls. And, like, of course, I love the golf carts very much. Obviously. those are the best part yeah of course um but like my like my favorite part about Coachella was being truly like with you guys oh I met Drew Starkey you did yes I did I love him he is so lovely yeah he's so awesome he is really lovely are you do you guys still talk the cast um yeah we Drew and I um actually spoke recently Drew is one of those people like Drew I think Drew and I understand each other very well and I think we always have because he and I are pretty like like I have moments where I'm chronic like I am kind of chronically online but like he and I have moments where we like I fluctuate but we've both kind of been those people that are like like phone loss he's offline don't care yeah he's super offline like if I like he and I both will like we'll leave our phones and our trailers and like just forget about it or like so like I have so many like my I have so many missed phone calls, emails, unpaid parking tickets, you name it.

14So does Payton. Yeah. Quite a few. That's so like I understand when I don't hear from him, I know it's just because that is Drew Starkey. He is an offline person. He is so lovely. But like when we do get to talk, it's like he is like my brother. Yeah. Yeah. my best friend admitted to me that they've been using an ai chatbot as like their girlfriend for a while now i find this incredibly i find this incredibly unsettling but apparently he said it helps him actually talk to people in the real world which he was never really great at he's like excited to tell me about it and finds no issue here please help okay so that would never be me personally right that would never be me but because here's why um also do what you have to do you know what i mean but it's your thing but it's but here's the thing here's the here's the thing about like i think and i could be wrong someone correct me i take like full responsibility if i'm wrong however like ai chatbots cater to your like that like pattern recognition and like what you're saying yes you're right and like they also tend to like kind of maybe i don't know um tell you what you want to tell you what you want to hear yeah it's kind of like maybe not the most accurate depiction of socializing right with like a real person with like thoughts and feelings maybe tell him now that he's able to socialize and it's helped him to cut it yeah i think i think cut it and there are plenty of people to practice on right real like real people like real world Yeah, but now what's done is done.

53He did it. He told you. He did it. Yeah, because also I think there are people who have genuine addictions too. AI? Yeah, AI. Yeah, I think they do. Yeah. It's like a real addiction. Yeah. I've never been a – Me neither. We don't need to be using it in replacement for humans or to be writing movies or making music or anything that requires actual feeling and connection. Using it as a substitute for genuine human reaction. I feel like you're looking or social interaction. You're probably looking in the wrong place. You're definitely looking in the wrong place. Yes. I'm such a people pleaser and it's completely halting any personal growth I could be doing.

28I love helping people but now the scales have tipped and everybody only comes to me for help. I'm so drained and barely get to talk about myself or my issues with my friends because they're so bad at listening but need me to listen to them. You know I don't really know what the first steps are here. I think the first step is if you're not going to help yourself then most or if you're not going to help yourself and speak up for yourself then people aren't going to you have to take the first step and be like you guys don't listen to me yeah you have to take this first step and communicate like hey I feel like I am giving a hundred percent and I'm not getting anything in return when I need help right because if you can't help yourself then a lot of people won't help you Right.

12You have to be the first to say something. Well, no one's going to – because it's very – it's rare for you to just kind of suffer in silence and hope someone sees it. Correct. You have to, like, say something. You have to be like, you guys don't listen to me, and I help you with everything. And then if they come back at you and nothing changes, new friends. New friends. And there's always time for new friends. There's always time for new friends. There's always time for growth. And sometimes, like, some people are there for you for a season, and that's amazing. But, like, you can't just continue with bad friends.

46What music are you listening to right now? All of Ariana Grande. Yeah. But on repeat is Hate That It Made You Love Me. Yeah. Killer. Oh, my God. Killer. I'm so excited for Pedal. There's so much good music coming out. There's the new Gracie Abrams album, the Ariana Grande album, the Strokes album, the new Ryan Beattie album. jepson has a new song you know i love carly ray lucas loves carly ray so bad she's incredible i know have you ever seen her live no me manny will went or manny will and i sorry went to see carly ray live and she did a motion front to back like run away with me and it was just it was life changing i love her i love her unabashedly yeah she's great i we love pop music we are pop princesses.

35We are connoisseurs of pop. We really, really are. We are. Yeah. My friends are all chronically late. It's to the point where they are hours late for literally anything. Hours is crazy. Whoa, okay. Anything and everything. I love them so much. I just cannot stand chronically late. People, how do I bring this up without sounding like a bitch? Because it's all of them. Well... Like, if it were five minutes, even 30, sure, fine. But hours, I don't want to lose it on them. But it makes my blood boil. Please help. Well, that is just blatant disrespect of someone's time. Right? Yeah. There are two solutions.

08Bring it up and talk to them and tell them, in, you know, maybe better words, what the fuck. Or two, set their call times earlier. Yeah, that's what I do with my best friend Alice. Yeah. I'm like, we need to be ready by 12, even if it's 12.30, and then we'll go at 12.30. Yeah, like if you need them to be there by two, tell them you need them there at 12. Because it's never really malicious. No. It's never malicious. Some people are just late. yeah but if it's also it's if it's one of those things where they like you genuinely have to be on time yeah and also another thing too is like like you know when you're with a big group of people you know sometimes like sometimes managing a whole group of people is like hurting marbles yeah and like it can be it can be really tough like everyone's on their own time everybody's got like you know their own things going on some people aren't managing like don't manage their time i'm i'm kind of like i is something i'm working on is being better at being on time i feel like you are a timely person i i do get really anxious about being not on time but i also because but i get carried away like getting ready or i get carried away with my alarm What do you mean?

25Or like snoozing it. Yeah. And I always underestimate how much time I actually need. Like you're like, oh, I can make this work and you can't. I can make this work in 15 minutes when I really need 30. I've been doing that lately. Yeah. It's one of the worst feelings in the world. It is one of the worst, worst feelings in the world. Like when you're like, okay, like I can wake up at 8.30 for something at night. No, you can't. No, you cannot. You have to wake up at 8. You absolutely cannot. Yes. If it takes 30 minutes to get there, you have to wake up at 8. Correct. Because you need time to like adjust to the world.

53Right. I need to like sneeze 10 times before I can like you know start doing my makeup right of course you know what I mean as one does after a night out of drinking with this guy I've been seeing we woke up the next morning damp I said to him you must sweat a lot in your sleep and he was like yeah I guess then we had the thought to take a closer look and sure enough he pissed the bed I played it off like I thought it was funny but in hindsight that is so gross I really like him and don't know if this is a worthy ick or not i mean i'm sure i can look past are we sure are we sure who pissed the bed if we were both unconscious right i'm not trying to be i'm not trying to defend him though it was like uh this was me like i've done this before like maybe this was me yeah have you ever had a guy pee in your bed no no no no never never same never i that um look i think if it becomes a habit then or if it is a habit then it's a problem but if it's a one-off if it's a one-off that is a very intimate and embarrassing thing and everybody has intimate and embarrassing things that happen but we are all human everybody has intimate embarrassing things that happen just make sure it doesn't happen again it's like things like that will happen sometimes and honestly if a guy peed in my bed and owned it yeah i'd be like all right just don't let it happen again Like, hey, yeah, just, you know what I mean?

16If you constantly pee. Then it's like maybe there's a deeper issue that we can unpack. Right. I'm not a drunk peer. Me neither. But I do pee all the time. If I have to pee, I'm. Sprinting to the bathroom. Sprinting to the bathroom because I don't know what song they're going to play next. Right. What if they start playing Dancing on my own and I'm in the bathroom because I decided to wait too long. Right. I've never been a religious person, but one of my best friends is very religious. It has never been an issue or something we really talk about. However, she recently told me she's anxious that I will go to hell and that she wouldn't be a true Christian if she didn't tell me this.

50I was so uncomfortable and didn't know what to say in the moment. I felt like this is starting to have felt like I feel like this is starting to affect our friendship and I don't know how to bring this up again. It is. Yeah, it is. There are ways to be religious. I think like real true religion is having your beliefs and believing in them, standing ten toes down on them yourself, and not pushing your agenda onto other people. Because her saying that to you is pushing her religious agenda onto you. Right. Well, like those statements always start with, well, I believe. Right. and then it's inherently saying like well you should believe this too right well i believe and okay that's great you you believe that but like there's a difference between religion and like organized religion or there's a different exactly there's a difference between organized religion and projecting like your own beliefs yeah as like i don't know some sort of means of like making yourself feel bigger or like that's what it always is at the end of the day i I know.

58And there's like, you can be religious. You can be spiritual. You can have like a core set of beliefs. Dude, look at Meg Stolter. Meg Stolter loves God, so religious, does not push it on anybody. Yeah. Well, at the end of the day, it's always about like preaching, preaching, and showing like love. Love is a word that is constantly used. I think people say God is love. Right. Okay. well let's like let's talk about the definition of love then right because it's not enforcing a belief system or rules onto other people just because you said so right did you grow up religious yes really i did wow i didn't know that about you i would like yeah i have organized religion and i have murky waters yeah yeah yeah but i like i'm very like i i'm very spiritual for sure of Of course.

53Yeah. I think having like a set of beliefs, like a strong belief system is very important. Of course. Yeah. Me and my friend group have all been single for the longest time since the middle of college or so. Good for y 'all. Yeah. Well, then out of nowhere, everyone in my group besides me starts getting cuffed up over the past year. Now there's this weird pressure for me, even though I'm pretty happy alone right now. But now my friends aren't seeing me as much. Oh, that's horrible. That's tough. That's really tough. Because I always have a single girl with me. Yeah. Peyton. Yeah. we love you shout out peyton and i it's always peyton and i but but you also like like because sometimes when i'm in relationships or like seeing you know i get i get really excited and so i'm like you're like i jump i mean i would always say if i was in a relationship i would be with the guy 24 fucking seven i jump feet first i'm so excited and then i realize after like you know a month or two i'm like i start to panic i'm like where the fuck are my friends right i'm like where are my friends and I start to kind of like because my friends to me are like everything and they're like that's like my that's my foundation like and so then I'm like oh my god like what am I what am I doing and so like when that starts to happen and you see people start to kind of like go off like that is it is a really it's a very isolating feeling so isolating my advice would be to have one of the couples take you under their wing as like their adopted child like Kaya and Lewis say I'm their adopted child.

17And I never feel like a third wheel. I always feel like I'm part of the group. Like, you know what I mean? You just need to make your, it's honestly on your friends to make you feel included because it's not their fault that they're in relationships, but it is their fault if they're not making you feel included in their relationship. They're not including you. Enough in their relationships. And I'm also. And find some single friends. And also, yes, and find some single friends. But I'm also one of those people, like when my friends are in relationships, I always get really excited because I'm like, ooh, new friends, new addition to the friend group.

42I feel the same way. I always love to bring like the group together. But I would watch How to Be Single, which I've never seen, but I always prescribe. I love that. I'm sure it tells you how to be single. With Dakota Johnson. Okay, I'm going to watch that. Right. It's apparently one of the best movies ever. I kind of need that. I went on vacation with my best friend's family to their house and they came in and I had sex with her older brother on the last night whose girlfriend was supposed to come with on vacation, but they broke up a week before. What do I do? He's not being subtle and I feel like it's so obvious what happened and I'm paranoid my friend is going to find out.

12Whoa. Okay. By the way, I would do that.

18If my best friend's brother was so fucking hot and he wanted to have sex with me on the last night, I would do it and just apologize after. Wouldn't you? And so here's the thing. We can't. Look, girl, we can't. Turn back time. We can't. If I can turn. You can't. You can't turn back time. You did what you did. You have to tell your friend right fucking now. You did what you did. You can't turn back time. you do have to be honest about it because here's the thing if he's not being subtle about it it's going to come out right so get to your friend be like holy shit i fucked your brother that's perfect holy shit i fucked your brother i'm so sorry i fucked your brother i don't know what to do burst into her room oh my god i had sex with your brother last night i'm so sorry i'm so sorry start crying yeah bring out the waterworks bring out the waterworks start crying be like i'm so sorry i fucked your brother let it let it out let all the emotions out some just like have like just you know word soup if you own something there people can't take shit from you whenever i have fucked up whenever i own it and i am like just like honestly yes i know what i did was bad and you own it and you apologize like that is genuinely the best thing you can't control someone else's reaction right you cannot don't try to play god with people's emotions by like making up some like excuse or story just own it right just own it when you own something people can't tell you shit just don't they can tell you shit but like they'll get tired of telling you shit because you've already admitted to it and yeah and you've already admitted to it you've already apologized for it and like it's their decision whether or not to move on or right it's like you're essentially putting the ball in their court correct i'm a photographer and i get good angles of everyone in my work but also in my friend group it's really starting to annoy me because when I want a picture, they take the worst photos ever.

05Literally, what do I do? Train them? I've given tips, and it's in one ear, out the other. Tale as old as time. Yeah, I don't know how to help. That's, some people have it or they don't. I kind of agree. Yeah, and that's why you always hear people talk about being the designated photographer of the group. Maybe ask a stranger. Be like, hey, do you mind taking a photo of me really quickly? Maybe ask a stranger. Or I think, yeah, you can definitely coach people. but sometimes like people's dedication to like taking bad pictures is just completely i get called out for it all the time when we when i was in france stas would be like you are putting zero effort into these fucking photos i've taken so many fucking photos of you start putting an effort and honestly when you start to put in when your friends start to put in the effort they will take good photos yeah and also if you call people out then like or if you call someone out about it then they will start thinking about it but also let's just take a moment for the fact that Stas and like her understanding of angles is so beautiful she wants I told her to write a book it's like watching the Mona Lisa be painted no you don't understand we were like we were like we're like Alex was like oh she was uploading photos from her camera and Alex was like oh shit I only have the the mini SD card Stas was oh don't worry pulls out a mini adapter for the big adapter she like literally I've never seen anything like it in my life she like her her ability to yeah she's she is like she's kind of my god she's kind of my god she is yeah no sadas is everything i miss her so i miss her so badly okay madeline what did we learn today we learned that man have the audacity that man had the honestly but we've we've been through that yeah we learned that you were mistaken for a madam that i was mistaken for a madam it wasn't as glamorous as i thought maybe being mistaken for a madam would be well madeline jake i love you i love you more and we have so much shit to talk we have so much shit to talk i'm ready my body's ready i'm also my body is physically ready Bye, Pussy.
