In short
Thanksgiving week family life and giving; Angel Tree adoption; negotiating home services; Black Friday/holiday shopping trends and gift guides; health/fitness planning; holiday traditions.
Guests
No external guests. The hosts are two parents (Harrison and Jules) plus recurring mentions of family/neighbors (e.g., “Neighbor T,” “Neighbor girl,” “Bubs,” and “Maria” for toy ordering).
Key claims
- Angel Tree “performative” concerns are outweighed by direct impact and increased awareness; gifts go to a specific child (e.g., Isabella).
- Black Friday has shifted from in-person lines to online/cyber deals; expanded sale windows benefit both customers and retailers.
- Negotiation works with home service quotes; they claim prices dropped dramatically (from ~$6,200 to ~$1,800).
- Manicures for women are not a universal “signal” for men; one caller says chipped nails don’t matter unless very bad.
- Function Health requires bloodwork and can be delayed by prep rules (they rescheduled due to food/coffee/alcohol constraints).
Notable examples
- Toy “turnover” (smocks, non-toxic finger paint, art paper) and a mess-free TikTok painting toy.
- Gift guide categories: clothes, practical, household, fun; specific picks include Beyond Yoga bump leggings, Cavendish ostrich slippers, Case Master diaper bag, Magnetic Me postpartum magnets, and Bobble Bar personalized jewelry.

I have a lot on my mind that I want to talk about that is not on your radar yet. Okay. Well, I love an ambush. I like your outfit. Oh, well, that's a great way to start things off. Why don't I start the episode and then you can tell us. Okay. Okay.
1:25Ready? Just welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. Fast. Okay, proceed. Because I really like this sweatshirt too. It's a 7-Eleven sweatshirt? Yeah. Does 7-Eleven make that? Is it 7-Eleven brand? So it's off 7-Eleven.com, and I bought it because Flock is rolling out in 7-Eleven, and I wanted to celebrate and show some support through the sweatshirt. And I hadn't worn it. I was like, you know what? Today's an amazing day to wear it. And I go to take it out of the closet. I know what you're saying. And there are coffee stains. I wore it. I'm really sorry. No, I'm kidding. I don't care.
2:02I need to know how much the sweatshirt is. Because I would give that a quality. I was shocked. It's phenomenal. I will say the merch on 711.com is like very good. It's underrated. It's very, very good. People don't even know it exists. There was a lot of different options. It's not like it was like this or bus. They have really, really cool stuff. But how much was the sweatshirt? Because it's giving very high quality. The print's good. I mean, this is not your comfort colors. Yeah, I'm actually not sure. But I don't know. Maybe Jules can find it. This is like, it's actually like really cool. Thank you.
2:40Yeah, you're welcome. Oh, wow. They do have cool stuff. Thank you. The hoodie's like 60 bucks. Okay. I mean, I'm pleased with that for 60, but it is the quality of some, because you know, hoodies are so, like things are just getting out of hand. I could see that being the quality of an$85 hoodie. yeah no i'm very happy with it i think the design's cool and um it's like streetwear it's so funny it's awesome isn't it yeah should we get into 7-eleven gear yeah i may have one or two other items coming should we we h we have to pause on things arriving to the home although maria did ask me this morning she was like hey it's time for a toy turnover i was like perfect because we just got a bunch of new toys and she was like the girls are definitely bored with what we have so we're doing what i call a toy turnover which we do about every six months i said all right tell me some things to order and she said it's time for paint so i got the girls little smocks and then like it's like what are smocks it's like what they wear over their clothes so they can paint okay and then i got them non-toxic finger paint okay and then she she was like get hard paper but then I was like what if I get you it's like wrapping paper like you roll it out it's art paper yeah and they can just go finger paint everywhere so it's time this is this is when you know two people are in the same way wavelength because guess what I have arriving today what it is a so I um I'm not a buyer of things tiktok shop has me yeah and it has me in children's in the children's area so um i do a lot of find on tiktok buy on amazon or walmart why or target because it's just comes faster so long story short what i found it is a painting uh a painting toy where you put the paint on the sheet and then you put a plastic thing over it and so it's it's mess free painting that's really fun yeah does that make sense what I just said yes yeah so like you touch it through the little screen so we have yours for the IRL painting and me for like the quick paint jobs yes what what I will say Bubber is going to love the painting she's gonna be she's gonna be ah and just like hitting it the thing all over the place I am worried about her wallpaper so I'm glad that the that her room I'm glad we're moving everyone rooms yes do we have the timing on that january is when i want to begin the ordering process and the moving and it's just going to be a mess but okay we can tell the story of of um our future child's changing cable at that point too blessed we have we already have the changing table we have to design the whole nursery around one item that harrison bought custom that was too big for his man cave it's actually awesome i'm very excited about it but what was that look is that what's in the basement yes i saw that the other day i thought wow cool it's really awesome it's just massive it was so cool and i kind of knew it wasn't gonna work but i was like if we get this we'll find a place for it and then changing table is um is is where we've shaken out i did tell people on tiktok live so if you were on that live you do know what we're talking about but otherwise you don't know what we're talking about okay happy thanksgiving week We have to say that off the top.
6:05I'm so excited. As am I. I have, I meant to tell you this this morning. Like, I haven't been this excited for Thanksgiving in a long time. And I'm so, I'm so excited. Yeah, I am too. And I love the dynamic that, like, we got, it feels like we, like, got a good Thanksgiving with the Friendsgiving. Yeah. And so, like, this is a year we're also getting two. So the neighbors tell us yesterday, they're like, we listened to your podcast for the first time because it was about Friendsgiving. and Harrison and I are like, wait, because they never listen. Like they don't, they don't have TikTok. Like they just, they're so not into it, which is what we love about them.
6:41And then they're like, we listened to Harrison and I were like, well. I need to re-listen to what I said. I had no idea what I said. So funny. They're the best. I think you said that neighbor T was the most interesting man in the world. No way. No way. And of course we ask him. In the case he's listening to this one, he is not. You are not. you are not neighbor t you are mid you are mid okay i retract that statement let him know and then neighbor girl was like i was he had a smirk i literally i was like i don't know the neighbor girl said she was like i wasn't mentioned and i was like oh my god because we talk about her all the time and i can't believe on one episode i i can't believe it i was like what because we see them all day every day like they're our family so it was just funny that they listened harrison and I were like racking our brains we're like what did we say yeah you definitely said that 100 I remember this about liberty glaze best lol and then they were yeah um okay so we talked about how we the one thing they're like oh it's exactly like um like what'd you think like it's literally like you our conversations are around this dinner table and I was like except uh one thing we cut who we outed on um on a dish they were laughing okay okay move going on going on so i think the first thing we're going to talk about because it's in chronological order is we just left the house and the air conditioning guys were there because you know as homeowners we needed to it's just like i thought the dishwasher broke but i reset it now it works and like we needed to get our air ducts clean and it's like We're just true homeowners, okay?
8:24So the guys come today to change all of our filters and just, I don't know, you just have to do this routine check thing. I literally don't know, but we were doing it. Anyways, last week the guy came to give us a quote. And the way they give you the quote is the person there on site has to call his supervisor and get the quote. And when it comes to quotes, I always let Harrison take it. And this is when I learned every price is negotiable, which you did with my car. somehow my car we came off like ten thousand dollars on and I didn't even know that was possible he did it with the air conditioning too he goes outside on the phone he tells the guy there on site to come back inside I saw him he walked outside Harrison's like no go back inside and Harrison's on the phone the supervisor then the guy comes then the guy calls the guy on site and the guy on site's like okay okay okay and he hangs up and he says uh sir what do you what do you do for a living and Harrison's like why and the guy was like because that's our toughest negotiator and I've never seen him come down this low on price and Julie and I Julie was there we just started laughing because I was like you're so it's so amazing like you're not afraid to ask for a discount like you get the discount I've just found these home service providers like they come up with these prices out of thin air and I feel like it's a product of like a bunch of them being like now private equity roll-ups.
9:45And so they've like institution, they've like implemented these like predatory pricing practices. And so, and I think a lot of the time you like know if they're part of a roll-up strategy because they go to these centralized call centers. And like I asked what the price would be and the guy said like 6 ,200 bucks. And I was like, I was just like, I know that's not the price. I was like I know it's not the price he's like what do you mean you know it's not the price I'm like I just I can I know like the guy who was here last week beforehand he like said it would maybe be a couple grand and like this is a$1 ,500 job and he's like it's like no like it's$6 ,200 then did you say okay fine we're not doing it no no no I didn't even do and I was like do you guys have any like is there any way we can get it down to 1500 bucks are you guys running any promotions he's like all right let me look 10 seconds later um okay i can get you to 2100 bucks i was like all right like that's a nice little four thousand dollar drop off i'm like this is no bs like this is truly no bs and then um i was like all right well what about 1600 and he's like i was like all right like what don't we just meet in the middle and he's like all right done 1800 done but then and so i was feeling great about it they were they were at a house today for like three hours and the job was done it was probably like a 500 person they got there at nine and left at 10 30 they were there for an hour and a half the whole thing's a racket but the guy came up to me he was like hey ma 'am this should have taken a lot longer and i was like just it's are the is it done and he was like yeah i was like we're good just go on preston where i feel good about is they did implement a piece of hardware so they told me to order the p i they implemented something different oh they did put something in okay so we installed one thing and then i had to order a thing the whole thing is ridiculous gonna have to install to the people negotiate like i didn't there was no rocket science there was no yelling there was no like we're taking our business somewhere else it was like that is ridiculous and we're coming down 75 percent we're just gonna shake i'm not paying i just did not entertain for a second the guy though just your negotiate like i remember when we went to buy my car i did not know you could negotiate the price of a car and it was a price let's say it was nine dollars then we left and it was it was 750 there was a lot more to unpack on the car but i didn't want to do that on the car because i wanted the guy to get the commission you did it though on the car we got a discount we we definitely got a discount but i spoke to my brother-in-law on the best way netter on the best way to get a car discount and he told me the practice and i didn't do the practice because you wanted the guy to get the commission yeah but how did you still get the discount because i basically was like this where can you take it i was like this can go one of two ways right like we can either do this whole song and dance or like i know you can come down with off this with me so just give me a price we want to get the car off you but but give me some wiggle room so we feel good so we feel good about this but then you still get your commission okay that's really nice yeah so that was just more of a direct one um speaking of commission it's not really related but i would like to for the holiday season go get cash like the boys today that did the ac i would have liked to give them some thanksgiving cash is like thank you and i don't have any cash but we're going to the bank today at one so that's why i wanted to remind you um okay speaking of giving i went and did an angel tree and i cannot wait for you to do the angel tree and here's what i want to discuss now i didn't know how i felt about it at the beginning because social media on tiktok doing angel trees is a trend now so you have to ask yourself well how do you feel about that and you know what i realized it's great because guess who wins the kids but the kids win here so I love that it's a trend I think it's a really positive thing but the kids win in the double whammy because the more it becomes a trend the more awareness there is and then the more gifts that that are given exactly and like when I posted about at the end I said hey I got my person online because I thought you had to go to Walmart and get it off the angel tree but I found my girl online Isabella and I adopted her there so my drop-off's different but a lot of people in Canada were commenting.
14:06They do it in Canada. And they were like, I also got online and now I can adopt a girl or a boy. Guys, with Masterclass, you can learn from the best to become your best. So I think, I just think that cause some, the conversation and this conversation has been completely pushed out, but people were like, this is performative, you know, like your, but it got, no, but I love that it got squashed. It's been squashed. It's been completely squashed. Every time somebody posts one, people are liking it and they're saying, you know, I want you to get more money. The thing is the money people make, and we'll do this the p the money you make off of the video people go and do another angel tree which is really which is really cool double whammy yeah so you keep doing them because i want to keep doing them how old was your girl yeah i really want to do 10 because i saw go older because a lot of times the older ones get overlooked what i'll say about austin is i tried to do i don't know what the oldest category was i tried to do that first they were all gone so i had to do my age range i did the oldest I could do.
16:26And I picked my girl because she wanted a vanity. And I thought that's a really like big item that people might be like, that's too hard to get. So I thought I should do that. I was just thinking like, if it's like an older kid, like 14 or 15 that has social media, I saw James Charles, Angel Tree. They were so good. Just imagine like seeing that James Charles was your Angel Tree guy. I would lose my mind. Like, pretty cool. James Charles was going so hard. The ones I love to watch are the boys going and doing them. Yeah. They're so that one guy had to call his mom. Yeah. He was like, okay, this is the size.
17:00I have no, no, no. The kid wanted learning toys. He was like, uh. I'd like to do mine today. We're going to do yours. What time? I don't know. I don't know. After the bank or I want to get a manicure. I never get manicures pregnant, but I'm feeling pretty good. And I'm so excited about Oklahoma City and New York that I want to get a manicure. Ruby red. Okay. We're going to build off this manicures. Okay. As long as you're done. I want to make sure that the angel trees get the attention that they deserve. I want people, if you can, if you're able to, and you're looking for a way to give back, I really, the angel tree, my heart was, I was, I had so much fun doing it.
17:35What I love most about the angel trees is I love that you know where your donation is going. Direct impact. Isabella. So often, like, you may donate somewhere, but you don't necessarily see the effect of it. You don't know how the funds are specifically allocated. And this way, like, you know, you're buying the dresser for Isabella. And that is incredible. No slippage. It, I'm not, somebody made a video of, like, the feeling you feel when you're checking out. I was just, like, so proud to be able to make, I was thinking about her opening up on Christmas. And the reason I picked her was, A, the desk is big.
18:17But I remember when my best friend Sydney and I both wanted to be teachers. Our moms had desks out for us Christmas morning. I'll never forget. I could not believe it. That is incredible. So anyways, this girl wanted a vanity and blah, blah, blah. So it's really fun and we'll go do it. No, blah, blah, blah. It's a phenomenal cause. Love it. What was Harrison going to say about the manicures? There you go. I want to debunk a myth. Okay. So we're out for coffee with friends. and one of them said that how like and you were there so i need to like kind of play into exactly what was said but like they talked about how now they always get their nails done for guys at the bar because guys at the bar notice if a girl has their nails done and like i think that's a firm no like i don't think any guy knows anything about what's going on with the nails one one of her best friend said to her if you look down and a girl has like chipped nails then that tells you a lot about her because it means she can look at her nails every day and not take care of them and not care that's what she said and she said it changed her perspective on it i think you can parallel it to morgan stewart once said on rich kids beverly hills like just always have a manicure done and it's a social media thing where people are like i gotta get my nails done because morgan told me to like it just it's i think the concept is it lives rent free in your head okay okay i actually don't know if that's landing at all the second thing is landing the first thing is not really it's like one guy once said i can never get over a girl having chipped nails and she's like okay you know what i'm just like gonna never have them like i think it i think if you were to pull like my 20 closest guy friends that 19 of them would not have any idea what's going on with nails do you have a single one we could call just to ask because that would just be so fun just no context you don't even have to say their name but yes or no do you care if a girl has their nails done in the bar and this who i'm calling is most likely to care yeah
20:27i'm just trying to think of who number two would be Okay, that was a screened call. That was a screened call. We got to go East Coast because West Coast wouldn't be up. Okay.
20:41He's on Do Not Disturb at All Times. So if you call twice, I was like brutal. No.
20:52This one's awkward because I owe him a callback on something. I'm just realizing I don't have any single guy friends or I would call him
21:07okay we're gonna see if we can get it we're gonna see we can get a call back from either one of them so hopefully one of them calls you back while we're here yes I would love oh I need to go off do not disturb yeah I would love to get the answer to this but you're saying that the person that said this said that one person said it to her one time and it stuck with her yeah not that all men okay and and i get that totally and i get that but like where i just need to fully like counter it is like that isn't a discussion point in like where things went right or where like i'm never talking to a guy friend and like oh her nails amazing or on the on the counter her nails like just so poorly up cap like that's that isn't on the list of top 100 things that we care about this okay so i used to have a thing yeah bad shoes cannot get over it so this guy had a nail thing he had a nail thing and he told it to her and it ruined it for her like i really get that if you're like me and basically live in active wear you know the struggle.
22:13The good stuff costs way too much these days. That's why I am obsessed and Harrison is obsessed with Fabletics. 23:30You're back. I'm up to the people that have started to work out again. and the driver of that is i worried that going into holiday season if i didn't like nip my bad habits in a butt then i would bud the bud of the bulb the bud of the bulb is the flower okay we discussed this before nip it in the bud so it can't bloom i know uh but then so i did a thing i did my dexa scan and then i signed up for this thing called function health yes which is what okay it you go you get your blood test and then it tells you all about tells you all about your body and what's working and what's not working and what you have sensitivities to and what you should do more of unless i've apparently it's amazing do you have sensitivities well i'm gonna learn i'm gonna learn do you go in person is this an app is the blood test so you go to the like quest labs they draw your blood you sent they send it in and then they give you all your results so i was super excited to do it today so i'm like you know what i'm gonna go i'm gonna work out beforehand and um i was like i'll have kind of a nice last big chinese meal for food last night and uh chinese food sorry why are we laughing jules am i not allowed to say that no no like you're just me last meal last splurge have to do it diet starts tomorrow and i look and and then i'm like on my way to get a coffee and i'm like looking at the check-in things like what to not do before your appointment things not to do work out oh eat seafood oh which we had last night.
25:11Shrimp. Yeah, we had shrimp and we had the
25:16shrimp hargo. Okay. And then we had said no coffee. I was like, I can't record without coffee. So we had to reschedule for tomorrow. And okay, so you're going to go tomorrow. You're going to go to 8.30. And I'm going to follow all the rules. And it said no drinking. And the one thing, I went one of four. I didn't drink yesterday. You didn't? You had athletic beers? Yes. We're watching The Beast and Me. I started the other show you did? it's unbelievable here's my thing all her fault here's my thing about a show get into it in the first five minutes and they did first scene and they did first scene that's all I look for we are in it so many show recommendations wait till episode two wait till episode three The Wire was like wait till season six finally got good that was the craziest one I had to watch like four seasons of The Wire because I was told like season five got good.
26:13This one right away. So I'm a huge fan of, what's it called? All Her Fault. All Her Fault. It's so good. What's the other one called? Beast and Me. Beast and Me I like because you can be on your laptop during Beast and Me. It's slower, but it's good. Yeah. So what Harrison was doing while we were watching Beast and Me was booking our New York hotel. And I have to say I'm so excited to go to New York. During the holiday time? During holiday time. your mom keeps sending me all these reels about what's happening there and it's making me so excited good she said you should go to the rockettes i said i hope we have time i hope we have time we're gonna miss bubs so much yes harrison's mom's coming here and she's staying with bubs she's gonna send us photos we'll feel like we're with her yes i just i know we're what's the rockettes is it good you've never been is it worth going to i know what it is oh my god wait what you have i just everyone has to go once in their life crap the kick line we have to go you know the rock cats the thanksgiving day parade it is the most iconic christmas thing you can do all right thursday night i gotta get us tickets i guess i'm so glad i brought this up i assumed that you were like me and have been many times when we were little my parents took us to new york we went to the rock cats well as we will do with bubs we will go we will go are we going to take take to disneyland
27:40that feels like a grandparent thing to do, but if she wants to go, I'm happy to go. She's going to want to go. I never went growing up. Really? Yeah, but I do. My parents just took Parker. So maybe she'll go with grandparents. Or they did like a safari at the San Diego Zoo, I think they just did. They did a safari at the San Diego. They did like glamping. It was pretty cool, actually. There's so many cool things you can do with kids. Okay, that's what I was going to say I'm so excited about for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year is Bubz really understands, well, kind of. I know next year will even be more, but she can do things now.
28:15Yeah. She's less of like, last year... Actually, I'll push back on that a little bit. She gets things a bit more. But she doesn't know it's the holidays yet. She doesn't know it's the holidays, but she gets excited about things. Like next year, she may know it's the holidays. Next year, she will for sure know. Next year, you know what you got to go hard on? You should do it this year and see if she gets it. Let's try it. Let's start Elf on the shelf and just see if she understands it. There's no way Of course I'd love to do it. But she understands every morning that she gets to come down and sit on the counter near us and that we eat huevos.
28:41Like, she might understand every morning she goes and finds her elf on the shelf. She might. Yeah. I don't even really know what elf on the shelf is, so. Oh, Harrison, it's your Super Bowl. You hide the elf every day. And what happens when they find it? It's in a new spot every day. You, like, set it up in little, like, not what. Do they get a toy? I feel like they'll put little powdered sugar footprints in the cabinet. So it got into the cooking stuff. So they find it and then what happens? And then it hides again tomorrow. I don't know. They're excited. But do they get a toy or something? No, no, no, no, no.
29:24They have to be good for the elf because the elf is always watching. So you have to be good the whole month of December so Santa knows to come. The elf reports back. okay the elf reports back thinking that's the piece of it I'm so sometimes like he's helicoptering down from the fan but the elf is poorly behaved I thought that does get into some mischief yeah the elf is but elves fun he's just the elves will be like hanging on the toilet like yeah and you have to find the elf every morning oh it's so fun it's so fun I think it's really cute okay Do you have a dentist update? I do have a dentist update.
30:03Do tell us. I have officially moved on from my dentist. Well, what happened? Well, we were in the tiff over the deep cleaning discrepancy. Which, give us a little summary. The summary was, I went in there. They said, do you want to deep clean? I said, is it covered by insurance? They said, yes. They did the deep clean. They did it over, like, I think, two sessions. And then like months later, they call me back. It's like, yeah, that deep clean apparently like wasn't covered by insurance because you did two in under two years and you got to pay us a thousand bucks. So come to terms on a$500 settlement.
30:43Of course. Annoying. But to move on, I walk in there and I walk in there for a clean and they go, you got to do x-rays. and I go, I just love a clean. Like, you've already done my x-rays. I just love a clean. Like, we've got to do x-rays to know if we need to give you another deep clean. And you're just like, give me the deep clean. No, I don't want the deep clean. The deep clean. You just want a clean? I just want a clean. Okay, not a deep clean. You want a clean? Just give me the clean. I was like, can we please just do the clean? They're like, no, we won't do the clean without the x-rays. so that way we tell you if you need a normal clean or a deep clean.
31:26How much are the x-rays? It was just a, I felt like I was getting set up again. The time sucked too. I felt like I was getting set up. So you left? So I left and went to a new dentist. And my new dentist, we got off to a strong start. I was under some time constraints. This lady, she like hustled. Love it. Yeah. So are you going to like a... or are you going to like a family dentistry it's a great question is this or is this my new one is okay no no no you're not gonna you're gonna end up not liking it you're not you're gonna end up why you gotta get to a family dentistry why because those are just corporations that just want your money it's exactly what you're talking about with the air conditioning they're they're reporting to a call center kind of they're like big private equity bad things.
32:20I kept meaning to say this, you got to find a family dentistry. I agree. Family owned. We need a family owned Austin dentist. Okay. Looking for the rec. That we can attend. And then I'm going to become team dentist. I'm also on the lookout for a pediatrician. I got a couple of recs from. Not a pediatrician. You need a general practitioner. From a general practitioner. It's a GP. We have a great pediatrician who we love. We're dialed on the OB and the pediatrician. I thought that we may be changing our pediatrician. Oh, we might be. But I just would say we're not in the market for Rex. We have two that we love.
32:54Yes. Okay. Can we... So we're about to get into our... Oh, we got a call back. We got a call back. Great. Okay. Okay. All right. All right. You're on the pod. You'll stay anonymous other than people who know your voice. or we can cut this, but it's a very simple question. Okay. Do you care about girls' nails? When you're out at the bar and you're prioritizing things, how high or low on the list are girls' nails?
33:32I do care. I shouldn't have called him. I knew he'd care. More so as if it's really good, it makes a difference. but if it's like normal or not very good it doesn't really hurt if it's chipped does it matter if it's like if it's like halfway nails and like very very bad then uh it's not great i think so but like chips like no if it's like otherwise great and it's like chip and uh i don't care um but this is just off the top of the dome. Okay. You also probably are my cleanliest friend. But that's the point. Guys do care. There are guys that care about nails for sure. Yeah. Okay. I definitely notice it and if it's like the right, yeah, if it's really good, I'm like, damn.
34:34I just should not, I just should not have asked him. Well, but no, it's good you asked him because we need an opposing opinion. It is a thing, though. I've heard from multiple sources. All right. There we go. That's what we needed. Thank you. All right. I'll hit you later. And if you want this cut, just let me know.
34:57There you have it. You never know, so you've got to get your nails done. Shouldn't have asked him. Yes, you should have. That's perfect. We don't want somebody to agree with you. Okay. What I want to do really quickly is because we have the flock banijanas, I'm getting hungry, and I'd love to eat them now. Okay. We're going to do SoFla came out with a new flavor. Benihana. What does that mean? What is the flavor of Benihana? Teriyaki. Teriyaki flavored. Have you been to Benihana? Well, that's the problem. No. Okay. Benihanas are as fun as a restaurant gets. Then let's go. They don't have one in Austin.
35:29Well, that's the problem. But they do have one in Dallas and Houston. It's like a road trip. I would actually love to. Colorful for Christmas. The When's the last time you went to Hibachi? Truly Shoguns in Oklahoma City I mean years ago I'm in on Hibachi though I would love to go I'd love there to be one in Austin So teriyaki is the big thing at Benihana Okay cheers Okay How do you think this is going to be? I've got to do a bigger chip I've got to do a bigger chip Smells good Now these are protein you guys 13 guys are protein No carbs I'm dropping them Okay That's good for pregnant people You're doing a very small one I'll do a bigger one definitely I can already say something I can already say something easily no question this is the best flavor by far and it's not close thank you we've been the customers our customers have been saying they want a teriyaki flavor and we love partnering with restaurants to do the seasonings because they've got the expertise in it.
36:38They've already got something people love and so we worked with them and they came up with the seasoning with us. 13 grams of protein. Just like a pregnant girl's dream. Okay, where do they buy it? Right now this is just on flockfoods.com. Flockfoods.com. That's a fun little intermission. I wish you talked about flock more so I'm glad you're doing this. Okay, well, thank you. And yeah, those are good. Maybe we'll talk more about some of our other partnerships at future episodes. You've heard of GLP one drugs, right? Once again, And that's veracityselfcare.com, V-E-R-A-C-I-T-Y selfcare.com for up to 50 % off. Black Friday versus Boxing Day. So Canada doesn't have Black Friday. You guys have Boxing Day. But maybe you don't have Black Friday because you don't have Thanksgiving at the same time as us. Exactly. So our big shopping day was always Boxing Day, but we were always in Mexico. So we never really got it. You were family in Mexico? So we have a Turkey Day sale.
38:37I saw a TikTok yesterday. And we'll pose a question, which is, what do you think about Black Friday going from this like in-person, like community crazy to now just being kind of online? OK, sorry. Repeat that because I'm an idiot and I just. Like when we were young, like Black Friday was about like going to the mall at 2 a.m. and it was a crazy community fun event. Now it's just online. You're just scrolling. So what do you think about that? also it's no longer just like four days a day it's like the week i started getting my first like emails and brands probably anywhere between one to two weeks ago totally and then obviously cyber monday is now a huge thing so i remember because what we used to do on thanksgiving night was go to a movie and i remember we would leave the movie theater and there was a best buy on the other side and the line would already be wrapped around the building and there would be tents out there and people people would be it'd be like 9 p.m they'd be spending the night for the next morning when the doors opened at like four and I always thought like that's cool like that's probably a really fun tradition people had fast forward then I remember Black Friday evolved to like us in our pajamas with our coffee and our laptops and I feel fine about both ways is there is some nostalgia to it ending, you know, the lines and things ending, the in-person ending.
40:06But now I make my lists and like, I can get a lot done. I can rapid fire right through it. Do you have thoughts? Or you were in Canada, you don't know. Yeah, I'm actually like, so to go back, so our big day is Boxing Day. We also have Turkey Day, which is around our Thanksgiving. Okay. But we were always out of town for, for uh for boxing day so like i never really got that experience and then when i left canada that was kind of when when online was a thing i think like naturally it's it's much better it's like it's a better experience for the customer to be able to either go in store or um or online so i think it's a net win i think it's also a net win that the the sales have been expanded um i think intuitively what happened is like a lot of um different categories get an outsized amount of their sales in the back half of the year and so um i'm sure they just everyone looked at numbers and was like wow if we extend these sales by two days three days four days a week um then things don't really slow down so yeah which is smart because better for the companies better for the customers isn't sometimes black friday like 50 of people's revenue um that's on the higher end like i don't think anyone's at as 50 but it's um it can be a very very big chunk are you doing a flock black friday sale uh yeah but food and beverage is an industry that um black friday sever money is definitely good for us but i think people are more focused on gifting um ungifting categories so like apparel um electronics um but yeah we will have black we'll we'll have our sales actually our pre black friday sale started yesterday on sunday okay that's exciting so that's why harrison when we go to oklahoma city we'll be working on wednesday Okay, so the way that we do our Christmas gifts is we do categories.
42:20And we do clothing, practical, household, and then something fun. And that's how we give gifts to each other. And the reason we do that is so, because you always want to like kind of match your partner, right? Like, hey, what'd you get me? What'd you get me? And so we just know we have these categories. And you can do what you want within the category, but we're giving each other four boxes. Yes. And then it just kind of, I think giving gifts that way has made it fun for us. Okay. So we made a list of what we want, not what we're getting each other. Okay. So we did mom, dad, and baby. This is our Black Friday list.
42:55I thought the list I made was my favorite items. That's great because that's what you would want. Okay. That's actually very similar to what I did. And I did one for Bubz. Perfect. All right. Okay. So I'll go first and should I just do all of mine? Yeah. Let's see how it goes. Okay. um for clothes low okay this is so i did mom but i actually did pregnant mom okay very very appropriate for clothes low rise jeans from either abercrombie or if you want a splurge option rag and bone and they are on sale right now makes sweat pant jeans and they are so comfy and they They're awesome. Do they make men's sweatpants jeans?
43:36I think they do. Okay.
43:41How did you nudge? And then the second thing I did is Beyond Yoga, also on sale, does these bump leggings. They are the most comfortable thing on the planet. And when I posted them, all my friends messaged me and they're like, I lived in these when I was pregnant. I can't believe I didn't have them the first pregnancy. What's Beyond Yoga? I've never heard of this brand. It's a brand. It's just a brand. It's an aloe. It's just called Beyond. I think their stuff's really comfy. But the leggings go up over the bump because I was wearing my low rise leggings and they were pushing down. Are those ones that came yesterday?
44:10Yeah. Very nice. So I got the bump ones. They also make bump tops and I think they're really comfy and they are on sale. So I think if you have a wife or a sister or somebody that's pregnant, it's a great gift to get them either one of those. Okay. So my clothes, I just ordered a pair of Cavendish Ostrich slippers. These are awesome. Now, they have not arrived yet. I just ordered them yesterday, but they look epic. I've been wearing these other slippers and kind of re-got me in love with slippers. And then I found these. I got an Instagram ad and they were just like an auto immediate purchase.
44:52They're sick. He showed them to me and he's like, should I get these? And I was like, yes. Very excited for those to arrive. Also, when we were doing these gifts, these lists, I realized I haven't really bought anything for myself. in the past one to two years. We keep doing this. We went to Nordstrom and we got you a bunch of clothes. I don't have a lot of, I'm not going to have a lot of, or I just like walked through the house and kind of looked at things. But I did, I've discovered a couple other clothing brands that I like and I'm not going to gatekeep. One is Howler Bros, local Austin brand.
45:25I'm getting into these kind of button, Western button shirts. But they're not tasteless Western. These are like sick Western shirts. They are so cool. Yes. And so I have two of their shirts. Sorry, I have one of their shirts. Okay. And I like it. It's a good shirt. I think I'm going to buy more. And then I just bought a jacket on the way here because I realized I haven't literally bought anything in a very long time. After I bought it, I kind of wanted to surprise you with it. so maybe you want to cover your ears and i'll say what it is but it's not for me no but i feel like you get excited when i get i do i feel like they're for me ready to go okay it's the wrangler sherpa contrast cowboy jacket very very cool done yes okay and i think okay so this is what i was just thinking the key for get good gift giving in my opinion is like a brand they've never heard of it's like i'm not gonna buy you howler bros because like you just buy it for yourself um another brand harrison loves is wax w-a-x and those are sick he loves elwood but these are things like i need to go find a brand that you haven't heard of to get you something from disagree oh i think that's a good way to get a gift get you something you don't know about like i kind of got you into kith last year two years ago i guess you know what i mean like a brand you don't really shop at i think it's so what i'm saying is for the listener they can use your brands yeah i think that's why i shared them that's my point though like that's my point is like this is cool because like then they can go to howler bros okay practical okay the only thing that i could think of is the is the baby carrier great gift for a new dad great gift for a new dad and i love that one because with the baby carriers you have such a wide variety of price points like you can do the fancy artichoke ones oh i know it's hard to poke jules don't worry I just needed to see that Art of Pop actually Is it Art of Pop?
47:30That's what the guy Yeah that's what Jamie said Jamie was saying Or you can do the Amazon Basics ones Like end to end I love them all I love them all Ergo Baby was a really solid one Love Ergo Baby Bumpsuit Really solid Bumpsuit Yeah Any others that we loved? There's one with like Four letters that I really liked I think it's Ergo Okay Is it the corduroy ones? No. Yeah, what's that? Tula. Tula. Tula was really good. Yeah. Tula baby. You loved that one. That was the corduroy one. Those were good patterns. Yeah. Okay, so my practical is a diaper bag. Now, I have a, so it's called Case Master. I just got it in today.
48:14I ordered it for this episode. It's the gingham one I opened. Ooh, gingham. Gingham, and it's wipeable. It has a bow as the handle. It is so cute. I don't like the backpacks. I like the shoulder strap ones. So if you get her, it's called Case Master. I had never heard of the brand. I got it off of Shop My, and it was so dang cute. I also think if she's like, I already have my diaper bag, this can double as a very cute hospital bag, which I think is a great thing to get an expecting mother is a hospital bag. Now, the second practical thing, PJs, specifically, this is not an ad, magnetic me, and here's why.
48:59If your wife chooses to breastfeed, or even if she doesn't, they don't button together, they magnet together. I wear them, they're the pink ones I wear every single night. They are so convenient and so comfortable. It's the best gift in the world. you can also get a matching pattern for your baby but these magnets it'll show her like you really thought about her postpartum journey and her needing these magnets i'm telling you i promise you this would be a win of a gift the um the usefulness of the diaper bag like obviously not knowing anything about um about having a kid before we had a kid like how much use you get out of the diaper bag you got, I see how important of a purchase that is.
49:49What's your practical? Oh, it's the carrier. The carrier. Try to think of another practical for you. Everything I bought is like for a kid. It's like for a tape. Yeah, I got you a tape measure that doesn't bend. That's good. It doesn't work. I'm trying to think. What do you mean a tape measure that doesn't bend? so he would like try to measure these really long walls and the tape measure would bend and so I found this one on tik-tok shop that doesn't bend but it's supposed to be an electric like you stay in here and you press a button and it goes out all the way but it doesn't work so not that one so not that one neighbor T got you a tool belt you did practical mm-hmm no that's not practical I give him the one that I loved I know I'm just trying to think what I would get you last year I got you workout sets because you like sets he likes his outfits to match um something for the man cave I don't know okay if I was going big on you I'd get you an outdoor tv talked about that in my Walmart ad an outdoor tv that would be me with foresight of the patio because you're going to want one so it'd be a great thing to get Black Friday also I know a A lot of people want frame TVs.
51:07I don't know if those are going to be on sale, but if they are. What do you think of the frame TVs? Listen, I think they glitch and the neighbors agree, but I think they look so good I don't care. They get the job done enough for me. Yes, but I feel like we don't have the art on there enough. We don't. We need to do the art more. But the way you can frame them, I'm in on them. Okay. I would recommend it. I'm too. What's your fun gift? My fun gift. like for dads the category was for fun for dads yours is the cadillac probably you can't just be recommending a car why don't you do this one first okay for fun i have spa gift card because i think one thing postpartum or pregnant women like they all want a facial or a massage you can get a prenatal massage i think that's really good the other one that i thought of that i recently got and it's just like makes me happy just go to bobble bar b-a-u-b-l-e bar.com you can customize anything and it'll arrive fast so you can get a bracelet with the baby's name on it i have a phone case it says alex on it like you can do a phone case and say mom on it the stuff arrives fast and it like lasts or uncommon james that's where my necklace is from they have really long lasting well-priced jewelry and you can get like i have a t on it and then like whatever our next baby's name is i'm want to add that to it but I think personalized gifts go a long way and Bobble Bar and Uncommon James like arrive fast so I think those are really fun to give a mom or an expecting mom or grandma
52:46um none of these are ads by the way I just love Bobble Bar and I love Uncommon James and I buy them both guys let's talk about Aura Frames because what if you could give a gift that brings your favorite holiday traditions and memories to life every day well with Aura Frame you can you guys I always say this is the gift that keeps on going. It is a digital picture frame that sits on the counter or wherever you want to put it, and it cycles through photos. So if you live long distance from grandparents, aunts, uncles, you can give them this, and you can upload photos for free, photos and videos.
53:17All you have to do is download the Aura app and connect to Wi-Fi. You can preload the photos before it ships, which is incredible. So when they open it, they have it. you can share photos and videos effortlessly from your phone all year long you guys this is such a good gift for a limited time visit aura frames.com and get 45 off or a best-selling carver matte frames named number one by wire cutter by using promo code two parents at checkout that's a u r a frames.com promo code two parents this exclusive black friday cyber monday deal is their best of the year so order now before it ends and support the show by mentioning us in checkout terms and conditions apply so my suggestion for fun gift uh and both a gift for a dad the family and friends styrofoam cups with your name on it or the street or the street name yeah like your address exactly like something fun like i love styrofoam cups love them love to go cups and having them custom, I think just very fun, very cool.
54:27So I think that's a great one. That's a really, actually, that's a good one. And that's what we're going to give probably our friends. Yes. But I need to order it now. Yes. I'm a bit on it. I don't want to brag. But I do kind of have our Christmas cards in the works, and I might just press order today on the cups. And I might be done. Very supportive. Okay. Bubzes. Did you do anything for Bubz? Yeah, of course. Okay, so what to get your one-year-old-ish, one year plus niece nephew child etc let's go one for one here okay the y bike she loves her y bike that's for a toy that's toy okay for me i just found this busy board off tick tock shop it just came yesterday okay it's got little lights little switches it is about the size of like a standard book so you can bring it on when you travel.
55:24It's unbelievable. This, it looks like with how she's playing with it out of the gates, it may be her new favorite toy. She's not setting it down. It's really cute. Yeah, she's carrying it everywhere. So I'm gonna go for toy, the busy board. Okay, I'm gonna keep going on toys here. Yeah. Bubbles. Sub$20. Bubbles. Bubbles. Just get on Amazon. Get a little bubble gun. Ah! They run over. They try to poke it. It's pure joy. I think on Christmas, if you came downstairs and started shooting the bubble gun, that gift goes a long way. It's got a bang to it. Yeah. For sure. For sure. Trampoline. Gather.com, I think is where our trampoline is from.
56:04She loves. Really? You think she's getting that much use out of that tramp? Her and Winnie love that trampoline when they go up to the playroom, for sure. No question. I guess they're not spending a lot of time with her in the playroom right now. The House of Noah Chair. Huge hit. Yeah. Splurge. the Duna bike a current favorite so that Duna bike has been so we got this like Duna little it's the three it's the something tricycle bike version three or something she really just like hasn't liked traditional strollers like we take her for a walk she's always fighting to get out this bike she goes and gets it she goes and gets it and bring it to the front door to tell us that she wants to go outside And then she goes and gets her shoes.
56:49It's the cutest thing on the planet. Pa, pa, pa. So we put her shoes on and we put her on the bike. Like last night we just had to go walk around in the bike. Yeah. The last thing is plastic eggs. Just Google plastic eggs. They come apart. They're shapes. They go together. These plastic eggs, they're all over our house. Big hit. I think they're$19. Big hit. Coogum was the brand. Yeah. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Coogum. They're the huge hit. Okay. That's all toys. All right. Clothes. Angel Deer. Anything from Angel Deer. Gap. Anything from Gap. Mini Ollie. Fort Weekend is where we get our pajamas.
57:27Magnetic Me. Magnetic Me. Like, match the mother. It's a win. I will say, when it comes to Gap, that latest haul you did, 10 out of 10. Crushed. Crushed. It was all on sale. when i saw the price tags i was very very very happy shocked stuff is so cute gap does a great pink they do it's a bright pop but not it's not hot pink yeah so cute it's such a cute pink she's we're taking home to oklahoma city this like bow sweatsuit it's really cute stuff um practical for bubs i think is any learning toys love every we just got in our new love every play kit because Love Every is cool. This is a great gift to give somebody.
58:14Anything from Love Every, you can go on and sort by their age, their developmental toys. There are these boxes that come. They're awesome. For me, it's these educational posters that I just got her. Yeah, but Maria was like, these are in English. I said, I know. He's got Espanol. Okay. We're going to reorder those in Spanish. Yeah, she wants both. And I think it's a good thing. I fully, fully, fully agree. I said we were going to get we're going to remedy that today okay so we got to do another order yeah um and then fun for bubs is the toys practical papados oh stride right stride right is very practical I think it's the best first shoe because of the support um like you can tell a difference when bubs is in her stride right versus these nikes we got her her high top stride rights like walmart has stride rights can be a little pricier if you go to walmart they have a bunch of stride rights for a really good price i think all stride rights are created equal from what i can tell i would go there okay very nice love lover stride rights for me the practical this is a great time to splurge if i were to look at two splurge items that have had a ton of shelf life over the first 12 months okay the classic duna car seat totally just totally like just could not agree more and the nanette and the nanette the life the life um the lifetime on that is only getting longer so the best part about the nanette is we're about to be able to talk to her like we're not there yet but you can talk to her through it and when we're all out like my favorite thing we were at an event last thursday we all go to dinner like we all pull up our nanettes yeah But I think it's like You can see Are we asleep or not Those two items Is Obviously The dunas lasted Well north of 12 months And The nanit's gonna last A couple years So Bigger ticket items But A ton of use But what I love about the nanit too Is they just came It's 8 inches With this home monitor Bubz and I were looking at it this morning Yeah That around the house Is Clutch So you can have it on your phone Or you can have it Just like sitting in the kitchen which I really like yeah um okay so are we done sorry I've just like still been thinking about this duna her growing out of the duna like how you can't uber once she grows out of the duna no we have to take the entire car seat you get a travel car seat and you bring that into an uber yes I've been just this has been on my mind since we talked so travel car seat connects into a stroller where the duna is the best thing on the planet is it's the travel car seat you take it out you pop a button and it becomes your stroller yeah what what doesn't exist after this is the second version of that so now we're into the land of a travel car seat we should lug around the travel car seat doesn't have wheels it doesn't become a stroller it can't become a stroller no it's just a car seat not comprehending because when in the episode when you said well how do you get to the airport i there actually is a solution which is someone drives you to the airport yeah somebody with a car seat because when i was like oh why don't you rent it that's true this is so not applicable to me for many many years to come and i cannot stop thinking about but we'll never get like we're just not in a position where people are going to drive us to the airport well we could drive ourselves airport we asked that's so nice my favorite activity i drive all my friends to there that's so nice the neighbors would also drive the neighbors were driving to I feel bad asking.
1:01:50I feel bad asking. Here's the thing, though. Tomorrow, my parents pick us up. They'll have a car seat in the car. We don't need to Duna it.
1:02:01We need to be dropped off. So basically, or we can take our car and leave it at the airport. And that way we... That's what I do. And do you know what we need to travel with? What? We need to travel with the Duna bike because it folds down so small. And so basically Tomorrow we're gonna Drive to the airport Or Jules will drive us So she can use The normal car seat Jules has to drive our car And then But she doesn't need We can just leave the car there We're gone for like three days Okay And then Sorry I'm just thinking About this aloud So then All we bring Is the Duna tricycle That's it And then Your parents pick us up We use The car seat in their car Yep Yeah and then we're good then we're good they take us back to the airport okay but that doesn't work in like new york per se if she was coming because it only works where you're going no one's gonna like it works in vancouver and oklahoma city because we have someone picking us up from the airport with car seats exactly and then let's we went to tolson like you know one of my friends pick nugget picks us up it has to be that they have to have a car seat on the other side we can't be ubering but i just actually can't stop thinking about that it's crazy jules this duna like coming out of growing out of the duna sucks they need to make a duna for higher weight restrictions i totally agree weight and height i don't know i assume they're they're definitely working on that or they can't get it done because the bigger you get you the weight restrictions don't work with that kind of car seat i would assume they can make that work i hope um okay things we dm'd moving right along all right dopamine i think this is like so fascinating your mom sent us this video talking about screen time and the problem with screen time is the dopamine.
1:03:44So dopamine drives motivation and reward, especially for kids. Slow dopamine comes from working hard at something and finally succeeding, putting together a puzzle, opening up the eggs and putting them back together. Tech shortcuts that process by giving kids fast dopamine with no effort is a problem. Too much quick dopamine can rewire the brain like addiction. The good news is their brains can recover with a break which is like really really really good news but i do think it's important to realize here they're receiving the dopamine with no effort which is kind of a false sense of dopamine which is similar to like out like an alcohol situation yeah i i think that that i'm not saying that it's alcohol like i'm not saying anything like that i'm just saying they're relating it to that in the story like it it obviously makes a ton of sense i don't think just applicable to children now they're applicable to adults as well and scrolling and um having boundaries on social media consumption I think is important for everybody well I also think I think the biggest thing about this podcast is knowledge is power like we didn't I didn't know this until your mom sent it but it makes a ton of sense to me yeah and screen time is something that I'm really starting to think about because I'm wondering how parents are doing it do you do it every Saturday morning and it's an old movie without these flashing lights and sort of the dopamine hits in it?
1:05:07Is it Frosty the Snowman, the old version? Is that what we're watching? Because I think there is such a thing as very good screen time. And I think there's a time and a place for it. But I think understanding these dopamine releases and the way that shows are designed now is just important. Totally. To inform yourself. It's a great call out. It's a great call out. The second things we DMed, this i'm gonna just pass this right to you you have written down would you give your money to ai and let it trade your money that is my question it is actually a question for you is would you let ai trade your money so you go on and you sign on to a website and you deposit 100 bucks however much money and the ai algorithm just go out and allocate all the money and do all the trading for you?
1:05:56So I need to see one case study that it did a good job and I would let it. And do you want to know why I would let it? Okay, let's hear. I'm not very well versed in trading my money. Like I let you invest my money because I don't have a lot of information around it. So like I'm not a good person to do it. Would you let AI trade your money, Jules? 100%. You would? Yeah. Okay. I assume it's semi-risk adverse. I assume you can tell it and like I think it has a lot better shot than I do because I don't if I knew a ton about investing or things like that I would do it myself but like I don't so to have a tool somebody that can do it yeah 100 % yeah even like I don't know for like your 401k you can kind of just give it some instruction and it will do it for you so I would assume that's done on some form of AI already oh yeah I would think actually that's or it would eventually sorry repeat that i can't remember because i like set it up so long ago but like i think i said like this is i answered five questions this is what i'm comfortable with this this and that and it invests my money for me no no no i i don't think that that's being done by ai i think that that's essentially they just look at at your risk appetite and then allocate it to uh to the the funds yeah but like bill from accounting is not doing that some form of ai like some some form of ai is doing that absolutely so i'm just saying i'm not like that maybe it's not it's dumb ai but it's like it is artificial intelligence it's 100 a robot doing it bill didn't read my answers and then pick my yeah but but um it's an amateur this is like that's more just like a um entry level like a formula being written yeah right which is like if you want x you invest in y and so on and so forth versus what i'm talking about which is like what what um the what prompted this tweet let me just read the tweet but same in my brain same thing okay something's telling me to do something based off of something totally as opposed to you doing Okay, because basically what my friend Jay's done is he's given money to each of the top six models.
1:08:18So like he gave money to ChatGPT. He gave money to Grok. He gave money to Perplexity. And he's telling those models nothing other than the same parameters on maximize returns through investing in certain asset classes. and then he's monitoring how all of those models are trading and then seeing who makes money, who loses money, and then taking all the data, and then they're forming their own model. So who made money? It's still so early in the cycle that like, you know, in the tweet he shared, Grok was doing the best, but there's still very much... Dude, you can use AI for anything. You got to see, like, results need to be proven over long periods of time.
1:09:11But we're in. If someone did good for a week, that's not necessarily going to be enough. You want to see a year, two years, three years, and so on. But I think he's got two customers out of Jules and I. Yes. Is the point. Yeah. Yeah. I kind of, I thought your answers were going to be, no, I want a human sitting there deciding where it goes. No. Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. I would happily let it if it simplified it for me done done okay I mean that's let me ask you would you let AI invest your money uh a percentage of it but not not like a pretty small percentage of it maybe 10 okay okay okay cool at this time over more time than um yes I need to see the results yeah no no I agree it's also an area like you know a lot about investing yeah and Jules and I are like we don't know that much about it like would I let somebody
1:10:18plan my Instagram captions no do you know what I mean like I can do that yeah I think one really interesting piece of it though is like when you look at the big hedge funds like they have actually been doing this for and they are doing this um i'm sure and i think what's really cool is can we get to a point where retail investors get access to that same form of of uh quantitative trading yeah which is awesome um okay i think this episode is like four hours long hour 21 happy thanksgiving it comes out on wednesday obviously because you're listening to it which is the number one travel day of the year.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast (WEDNESDAY EDITION!!) we’re kicking things off with our Black Friday must-haves — the things we actually use, actually love, and actually recommend for moms, dads, and babies. From pregnancy wardrobe staples to Harrison’s new slipper obsession to the toddler toys that aren’t a waste of money (and no, we did not say stocks LOL), we’re breaking down exactly what’s worth grabbing this week. (All linked HERE: https://shopmy.us/justalexbennett/gift-guides)
We’re also fully in Thanksgiving mode — reflecting on Friendsgiving, getting ready for our trip to OKC, and sharing our NYC holiday plans (yes, the Rockettes are officially happening). We also share out experience adopting from an Angel Tree, why it’s actually the sweetest trend on TikTok, and why it ended up being the highlight of the entire week!!!
We get into Harrison’s annual dentist saga that somehow becomes a full-blown scam investigation (every. single. time.). Plus: negotiating home repairs like a true dad (is everything negotiable?! apparently yes). We also squeeze in a Flock taste test, the great “do men even notice nails?” debate (we literally called a single man), a chat on slow vs. fast dopamine for kids (the science is wild), and whether we’d ever let AI trade our money (Harrison says… maybe?!).
As always… LOVE YOU GUYS!!! (Happy Thanksgiving!!!)
