In short

The episode covers three main threads: a Coachella debrief, pop-culture commentary on Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance, and parenting updates—especially pacifier (passy) weaning and bedtime routines.

Guests

No external guests. Hosts are Alex and Harrison (Alex says Harrison will take over hosting for 2–3 weeks).

Key claims and notable examples

  • Coachella: Bieber’s return is framed as “event of the year” social-media-wise; the hosts discuss Coachella brand partnerships (notably 818 Road party) and suggest a “Kodchella” parent activation with childcare and kid-friendly activities.
  • Bieber: They argue Bieber “crushed” Coachella, emphasizing a YouTube-centric stage moment where he plays old clips live (including paparazzi and symbolic “past” moments). They call YouTube the “winner” due to the live-stream ad-like exposure and mention Apple as a “sneaky winner” because his laptop display showed Apple branding.
  • Ticketing controversy: They discuss StubHub cancellations/relisting that allegedly left buyers paying thousands more after price spikes.
  • Parenting: They claim removing the pacifier shortened bedtime because the pacifier becomes a “crib-only” ritual (“BB”). They describe a gradual, low-pressure approach: when the child is ready, they plan to transition by making the pacifier farewell fun and eventually replacing it with a Build-a-Bear-style keepsake. They also share a teething example where offering a bottle once led to the child dropping bottle requests afterward.

So for those tuning in right now, Alex is coaching me through hosting the episode. Harrison's going to start taking over the hosting role for the next two to three weeks, because I don't know how many episodes I'm going to be at. I'm going to try to beat them all next week but i don't know this i'm just i'm slowing down over here so we'll just see but yeah well what i always try to give people is what we're talking about today okay off the top okay and what i think we're talking about it sounds like um something with bedtime routine passy shortening um i would like to talk about a bit about like the week before you give birth if you have friends that were also like I so I have a birthing class in my head okay of people that we're all do around the same time yeah and they're starting to give birth and oh a birth class like your graduation class like a graduating class and when you when you didn't graduate or commit to college yet you feel a little lonely yeah that's sorry I'm starting to feel that way um so we'll talk a bit about that we're gonna do a big Coachella debrief and then we've got a bicker of the week and then a couple things in the comments in some listener questions if anyone is interested in those we're interested I'm interested in those tools.

1:56I think we're going to want to do a proper Q &A at some point. So I think we got enough meat on the bones today. Also, you know, I can't tell. Did I gaslight you into doing the intro or did you have a hard time giving up the responsibility? What just happened there? You definitely didn't gaslight me into doing it. I have a hard time giving up the responsibility. Okay. Well, you did a phenomenal job and I took notes. i can't wait what i can't wait to do is because i'm gonna listen to every episode that you do especially your q a that i'm not on because after i give birth you guys harrison's gonna do a q a episode with you all we're like you all submit questions and he answers them i can't wait to listen to that one so but let's get into it let's get into it off the top and so let's do this where you say welcome what do i say jules i'm not i'm not falling for this again okay welcome back i'll tell you welcome back well why don't you say it and then i'll say it no you say it first i want No, I'm smarter than this.

2:56I'm going to break it. I live with you. I'm going to break it down into parts. Welcome back. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents Podcast. Here we go. Featuring your hosts, Alex and Harrison. Just phenomenal. It was so good. Earring every Monday, Wednesday, and soon to be Friday. Well, right now it's Monday and Thursday. Every Monday, Thursday, and soon to be Monday, Wednesday, Friday. We do want to move. Okay. I love that. We do want to move to three episodes a week. Probably in June.

3:26middle of June. Oh yeah. Sorry. I got totally confused there. Six weeks. We'll see. The thing about it is like when I feel good, I love to do stuff and I think I'll feel good then, but we'll see. Time will tell. We're going to play it by ear. How many weeks of feeling good until you want to bring that on? Cause I feel like we're ready. As soon as you say, Hey, I'm up for it. I feel like the back end of it is already when I feel good. my nightmare is to be at home so i want to go and i want to record you want to clarify that statement so it's not taking out of context what you like to be doing things yeah yeah my not like when i when i'm feeling good my nightmares to be oh my god it's like me and bubber are just my home life sucks no i love to be with you and bubber i love to i love our home like we've it's actually something we've been talking a lot about it's like we've really worked on our house these first four months in order to love our house.

4:24What I mean, let me, let me do clarify that. When I have energy and I feel good, I want to go work out. I want to come to the office. I want to record. I like to do things. I like to occupy my mind. The week ahead of me that, that I'm looking at right now is a lot of time in bed. Yeah. I totally understand it. You love to go out. You love to be productive. You love to do things. Right now. I like sit at the kitchen table and look at my sourdough starter and then like sit in the kitchen some and like organize a cabinet, it like hate hate it um so bored well can we talk about coachella i know that was a bad transition that was a three out of that was a one out of ten transition but i do want to talk about coachella okay speaking of being at home and not being places yeah i know would you want to be at coachella so jules i would and that's very unlike me to say and here's what i said to harrison yesterday i walked downstairs i said i wish i was at coachella and i've never said that that's how i know i'm bored okay like i'm romanticizing what i know the travel time from like the airbnb to the stadium what is it called the grounds like i know that's an hour of traffic i know you're walking miles like i know it sucks has has has anything ever been so done but come back so fast from an event perspective as coachella like this feels like this coachella is the event of definitely the event of the year if not the event of the past five years like i haven't seen the amount of social media buzz i'm seeing on this thing i can't compare it to from like a lifestyle perspective i can't compare to any other event in the past five years okay yes we can we're just not thinking because like the taylor swift era like the super bowl there's some moments trump's the Super Bowl.

6:08The only thing I can compare it to is was the Taylor Swift eras tour frenzy, which was way bigger than that. And that also took over our timeline. Like, let's not forget for what, six months or a year? Like, I think multiple years. I went in 2023 and 2025, maybe. I mean, yeah, that that was a massive thing. So huge comeback for Coachella. It seems like the best event that kind of got the most social buzz was the 818 road party yeah it must be close to a stage or something yeah i'd love to know the logistics of that also wait it's it's just kendall jenner and hailey we were like it must be close to a stage of course it's going to get but i don't think it's in the grounds but i also it's done by i think it's partnered with the h-way group so on the back end h-way group correct though because they are stopping by so like everyone's going yeah Yeah, but I don't think it's on the grounds.

7:02But that seems like the IT party. For sure. The IT event. Well, also she, but Haley is Mrs. is the first lady of Coachella this year. But it's also like the triple whammy of like you have Haley and Kendall. Who go every year and like it's a thing. You have the brands, 818 and Road. Well, and they also included like Kylie Jenner's new electrolyte brand. Yeah. courtney's lemmy stuff clap that cloud popcorn like yeah i saw a video about this about why it was successful as they included so many brands and then but the last piece is is also operated by the hfoot group which is the delilah people oh well then that's gonna be i mean so yeah so it's gonna be really well done so you just have like you know that you're then gonna have amazing food and amazing like decor and design and and service and so on and so forth i mean it's doing it's doing its job so what would be a good um parent coachella activation so do you want to go or do you want me to go because i can go well my group text said you know can bobby get a house going um with a bunch of like parents and i was like heck yeah and child care like that is the key to it is you do a parent's house and you can if depending on how many do you can do like three houses all together and the key is child care and and you have a baby cella and so when you drop the kids off all the kids have like you have fun little dance parties wheels on the bus go round and round twinkle twinkle little star all the classics love it you can have some live live performers a really good nan it pop up as well okay so i i fear that we may have just opened up a can of worms that is actually going to happen next year which is we are going to go to coachella Manifest And we are gonna plan a Kodchella Okay And we're gonna Like as this is coming out of my mouth I'm loving Justin has a kid Around the same age as Tate Can we stay on the business side of Coachella For a second Well let's go to Bieber Let's go to Bieber I ordered road eye patches this morning I mean I'm just I'm just living and breathing The nostalgia the whole situation i'm i'm just gonna go ahead and say i'm giving it no notes no notes i have notes i have a lot of notes okay okay let's talk into what is public perception of beaver coming into this event well he needed to do good he needed to do good like he's not taylor swift coming into it he is i did see he surpassed all the high he did the highest paid was that what you were talking about well i saw something on the ticket sales side where either his resale ticket was the most in history or something where basically people were very excited oh i do need to talk about the stop up tobacco okay but there's a massive like something happened with ticket sales where it was okay yeah so like doubled so uh coachella ticket prices are the highest that they've ever been and uh they're calling it bieberchella he's correct he's the driver of it, both in people, uh, both like, obviously people wanted to come see him, but then the follow-on of all the celebrities that came that have made more people want to come.

10:18But StubHub is in, is in a whole bunch of hot water here because a lot of people pre-bought their Coachella tickets like several months ago and they bought it for like a thousand bucks, 800 bucks. And the delivery was supposed to happen a week at Coachella, but ticket prices boomed. So they didn't spike until pretty recently. And so like$800 GA ticket plus minus, we're going for like $3 ,600. And so what a bunch of sellers were doing was they were canceling their tickets and then relisting them. And so you had this slew of people that like had houses booked and accommodation and travel all booked and then had their tickets canceled and had to go out of pocket several thousand more dollars because the people backed out on delivering their tickets.

11:05resellers resellers that's insane not coachella these are stub hub people stub hub is who i saw was under heat well that they yeah that yes that's not good yeah really not good not this is like stub stub hub gate but you can so once some once you purchase a ticket on stub hub they can cancel the order yeah afterwards yeah huh i mean that's just like the clip I saw of the guy going to the reservation desk at the car um rental car place and the girl's like we don't have any cars I was like but I have a reservation she's like yeah we just don't have any he's like when I was moving from New York to Austin I moved in like a whatever what was the car you guys were driving as a rental a wagoneer a wagoneer I moved I was supposed to be moving in wagoneer that's how I've done all my moves when I showed up to enterprise rental car they said no, sorry, no Wagoneers, you can have this small SUV.

11:59Like, no, I rented a Wagoneer. I had to leave so much behind. Because Enterprise is normally like dialed in as it gets. They're normally the best or one up. But rental car places, I mean, they're just like, yeah, it's a little too abstract for me. I'm like, what? They're like, you don't get guaranteed. It's like, then what am I? I will go. Correct. And I do want to get this train back on the tracks. Yeah, sorry. But just to nail a scam, okay, one of the day-to-day scams that we consistently see, It is rent of cars and it is the vehicle that they promote, how they say like, they'll say, hey, get a Wagoneer or similar car.

12:35And then you show up and it's like a Toyota RAV4. Small, much smaller. It's smaller and also just like a worse, irrefutably worse car. Like, have you ever booked the Ford Explorer and got like - A Navigator. The Navigator or the Escalade? Never. Like, they always level you down. I think that they should need to show all types of cars that you're in for. And it's always smaller. Like, hey, get a BMW X3. Or X5. It's like, oh, that's a great car. And boom, next thing I know, I'm like. You're in a Nissan Pathfinder, which is, again, a great car. It's not that the Pathfinder is a bad car. It's just I thought I was booking a better car.

13:17It's the same thing as the Texas Roadhouse thing. Correct. It's misleading. It's very misleading. But rental car places, I mean, they're just like, oh, you booked an S. Well, we're going to have to give you a sedan. You've got to get back on the Beeb machine, and I've got to make a note to talk about Justin Trudeau. Okay? Beeb's the hottest thing. Katy Perry? He's having a moment. He's having a moment. Starting something new can be scary, you guys. You say to yourself, is this really the right decision for me? What if I fail? What if no one listens or buys anything? But here's the thing that anybody that started something will tell you.

Biebs, he is probably the biggest thing to ever come out of Canada, okay? it's not close because if taylor unless taylor's was from canada then yeah it's him yeah or the car jitters so this is our national treasure correct where where do we sit where does bieber sit right now what's public perception on bieber here's my take on public perception on bieber yeah he had a hard time six months ago we were seeing like some what looked like under the influences performances and people were posting them online like but we weren't as always they never give us a complete window into Haley and Justin's lives but we were seeing like this guy looks like he's struggling yeah then there's the famous paparazzi video where he's like it's not clocking with you guys that I'm a human which very relatable and a lot of people were like I'm on Bieber's side on this like they're not treating him like a human and now then then road sells and from there it does appear with Bieber's back on the track like I thought was this his Grammy's performance where he walked up there I thought he crushed that crushed Grammy performance He crushed that.

15:50He went. Him and Haley looked great. Like, I just think we saw a guy struggle a little bit and then get back on track, which we've seen. I mean, we can't forget Bieber. What was he in? The green Ferrari? Oh, you lost me. Remember, he was in the green Ferrari. Like, Google it. 15 years ago. I feel like we're missing the punchline on where. I bet you that was a good synopsis of the history. But, like. So, I thought about this. And it's the same group of people that we talked about last episode, which is like he's an icon, but he's a fallen from grace icon and he can come in and out of that. OK. And so he's the same as Britney Spears to me.

16:29What? What? He's more. And here's here's what I hate to say. He hasn't fallen. Here's what I hate to say. He's more like Britney Spears than he is. Taylor Swift. A hundred percent. And this was his first move back to get back to Taylor's level. But this was my whole take. Okay. Because I woke up at 6 a.m. today. I was waiting for Bubz. I watched the whole performance. Okay. Okay. I did my research before recording today. That performance was a 10 out of 10. It was a 10 out of 10 because of his classics and not because of anything new. But his natural ability. I mean, this is a naturally talent-given gift.

17:10And his catalog. He has a catalog that does go toe-to-toe with Taylor. And he has a voice. He has the talent. The difference between him and Taylor is Taylor has very recently put out bangers. Taylor's last album, Slapped. I feel like slap is like a loser word. But every album Taylor puts out is a banger. He didn't have a single song that charted number one on his last album. Daisy's never charted to number one. great song never got to number one the music needs to come back this next what we learned is is the people want bieber okay he just became the heartbeat of pop culture yeah for right now he's stolen the internet for the past seven days correct he has it for another seven days correct bring us new music i agree with that i just i I think Do you want me to keep going?

18:05Because I can keep going. Yeah, I can't compare him to Britney Spears, you guys. I don't think he's Britney Spears. I think he's more like Britney Spears than he is Taylor Swift. Okay, okay. That I guess I can get on board. Because we do see him struggle some. And he goes in and out. And we do see... And he hasn't done... He's the second most successful person in his household. He's not the most successful person in his house. Anymore. Anymore. Because Rhodes sold for a billion dollars. You know who's the most successful person in their house? Taylor Swift. No, Haley. In their house? No, I'm saying Taylor.

18:40Oh, in her house. Yeah. Correct. Correct. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

18:48So, kind of kerfuffled there. Well, I, okay, okay. I think that Justin. I can go. I can rip because I need to talk about YouTube for a second. Well, he crushed. I mean, the fact that he just was up there driving his own. He had no background dancers. He just was pure raw talent. Remember how last night I said, I like turn to you. I was like the performance flopped because I saw an old clip of him doing like the classic dancing and it was an old clip. It wasn't from Coachella. Okay. Because everything I saw Coachella was a 10. Him not dancing. I agree. It was a total 10. Him not dancing was huge.

19:27Huge. So should I give a quick synopsis of the performance in case people didn't see it? Sure. Okay. So he starts off with like four or five of his new songs. And it was a snooze fest. I was like, uh-oh, like none of these are bangers. Then Kid Leroy comes out. And it's like, okay, now it's starting to get good. Then he goes and he sits in front of his laptop. On stage. The laptop is on a desk on stage. On stage. and he goes on YouTube and he just pulls up old songs and he karaoke's old songs with the videos on in the background. And like, he is very, very clearly doing it live because like, he's like the wifi cuts out at some point.

20:09And like, there's like three, five, seven second delays. And, um, he's pulling up random YouTube clips like that paparazzi clips you mentioned. He plays it. He played it he played a video of him like smashing his head into a glass uh and like he played that chris brown cover that he did when he was like eight years old and it did feel incredibly symbolic because it almost was like he spent more time performing at the screen with his back to the crowd than he did looking at the crowd and almost like he was looking back at his past as opposed to as opposed to the future and what lies ahead. Well, I think he's healing.

20:49I think him going up there and playing the paparazzi clip and playing him bashing his head into a wall is him acknowledging, I know what you think of me. I'm okay with it. Also, I'm a badass. There was something that struck a chord when I was watching him perform for his eight-year-old self. It was a very powerful moment. Yes, and a lot of people were like, Like this healed something in me to watch him harmonize with his old self to his voice now. And I saw some people posting like this is where I met this boy. I met this boy when he was 12 and I'm still with him now and he's 32 maybe. And I felt the same way.

21:24I was like I'm still with him too. Like I just think this guy he strikes something normal in you of like where Britney Spears is unrelatable is she had them in like she was so untouchable. She never gave us anything relatable. and Justin is just like trying to tone his lines. It was a hug to her inner child watching that performance. And I was just going to say like he is like our age and we grew up at the same time as him versus Britney Spears was older when we were younger. That makes sense. Correct. And I can't see Britney's path to getting back on track here. Whereas him, you see him being a dad.

22:04You see him being a husband with Haley. You saw that weird Vanity Fair. Like, I never thought you'd get the cover comment. And then like she got the cover and it's like, Justin, what are you doing? And then like you see this. You see the talent. Like he has the talent. Undeniable. And the cultural relevance. And I think that like when you look at, all right, who is the irrefutable winner of Coachella and of pop culture over of 2026 so far? it is him because all eyeballs went to Justin Bieber and he delivered well and it wasn't close and here here's why he had all eyeballs on him nobody thought Sabrina Carpenter was going to fail everyone knew it was going to be awesome but people had a question mark on Bieber he is and Jules you can tell yeah you may want to get mad at me for him he is so he is a league above Sabrina Carpenter.

22:57If he comes back, if he comes back the way he can, if he takes this moment, then he goes to that bucket above. He's the only one out there that has Taylor Swift potential. But he will take the moment. I would never be mad about you saying that. Okay. Like to me, there's that whole slew of like Sabrina Carpenter, Morgan Wallen, Chapel. Chapel. The only other person that I see getting to that level out right now is is Bieber. And he has the chance. Now, I want to go to winner two here. Okay. Who? Winner number two of the weekend. Okay. Winner number two of the weekend, YouTube. For sure. He's live streaming.

23:40Hey, hey, hey. You got a shocking look on your face. Why the shocking look? No, I've been really tapped out this weekend, apparently. Okay. So can I get a why YouTube? Why YouTube? So YouTube live stream the event. okay great you live stream something that got a bunch of hype the double whammy for you to mark for you to host an event and then the marquee act use your service as the anchor point for his performance he was youtubing it was the best ad that you could ever ask for the it said youtube platinum top left for the whole stream for everyone watching it was a giant youtube ad okay well jules i don't know if you saw this he's so he he has his whole browser open on stage yeah he's typing in and you can see like his recent searches he's typing in like sorry by justin bieber and then like clicking it and then just like playing it when a brand what are you gonna say all i'm gonna say is that that's how he blew up was youtube originally so it also is all coming really full circle correct and when a brand does a sponsorship like that okay it rarely has direct ROI.

24:52That is an example of a sponsorship where they will make back significantly more money in the preceding 24 hours than they put out to host. The amount of traffic running through his pages right now and the broader ecosystem, 10 out of 10. What makes me want to YouTube his old videos? Now I'm going to give the sneaky winner number three. Is road not a winner here? Cause I bought the eyepatches this morning. Okay, we'll say road. But that wouldn't be a sneaky winner. So the sneaky winner, the undercover winner of it all. Who? Apple. How? Because what laptop did he use that they couldn't get the logo out of the entire performance?

25:40Was it Apple? Was a beautiful Mac. and so i could also see how like the youtube execs probably were just like so bittersweet of so happy because like the best um the the best example of use case for their product to then just like have apple a true competitor so funny though because if he would have been on like an hp that would have stuck out so hard to me and i get you're right sales of hp's would have skyrocketed but i just like expected him to be on a on a macbook and he was yeah right in silver like i remember it yeah i would they probably just wish they like had him do the whole thing on an android or something but it was 10 out of 10 because youtube is google right right sorry youtube is google if that wasn't clear yeah yeah yeah okay wow i mean i i just thought the man crushed it i can't wait to watch it again i i hopefully the so to uh it is available on YouTube in their live stream of course okay I don't know how long it's going to stay up for it so I have something that may come down well because there's he's doing a Netflix documentary my man's back Netflix covered the whole back end which I'm sure they'll have the experience this is where I need to push back on you he isn't back he has the potential to be back to be back he needs to drop a fire album I agree with that that's the piece of me the equation that like Taylor Swift needs all the credit for.

27:11She gets the buzz and she drops a banger. And, and just so we're really clear, swag was a horrible album. It was a, it was a, I'm going to use this word. It was a stinker. And I use the word stinker because stinker is about as relevant as a word to pop culture as swag is. Right. Okay. Okay. The title reflected the quality of the album we need more and maybe jewels you can tell me this do we need a scooter bra on justin bieber reunion no the girls do not want a scooter bra on justin bieber reunion the girls don't want it i'll tell you that you get bangers again even if you get good music because what if bieber can't produce good music without scooter like what if that's the problem what if what if scooter sat in every single recording room because this guy's over i'm sure is overwhelmed with writers and beats like how do you what if scooter was the filtration that got us beauty in the beat and sorry like if he produces an album with scooter he loses all of the taylor swift fans do the taylor swift fans they care how do the taylor swift fans feel about bbs they like yeah have i been too hard on bbs well like here's the thing no no no but like weirdly enough I'm like not a believer like this is all not for me but I think that like if you're a Taylor Swift fan you're probably also a believer there's no beat there's no reason not to be I am obsessed with branch basics I have been in the nesting phase I have been actually our bottle's almost gone so I need to get more branch basics but here's the thing about cleaning products you guys you use them every single day sometimes multiple times a day especially if you're in the toddler phase on the counters where you prep your food in the laundry detergent soaking into your clothes on the floors where your pets and your kids are crawling that's the most true thing ever for us right now and with spring cleaning or with the nesting phase as we're in right now and here's the thing a lot of conventional products look clean smell clean and even say natural but many still contain ingredients linked to hormone disruption skin irritation and respiratory issues and here's what many people don't know in the u.s companies aren't even required to disclose every single ingredient in the cleaning products.

29:30So you could be spraying and washing with chemicals you never intentionally brought into your home. Branch Basics changes that entirely. The female founded brand is redefining transparency and eliminating toxins from our homes, starting with products we use most, which is cleaning products. Their premium starter kit comes with one powerful concentrate that makes everything from laundry detergent, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, and even pet wash and vegetable rinse. It's one formula. There's no mystery ingredients. There's no necessary fillers. You guys, it is the best thing ever. And when I'm spraying it on my counter, I feel so good about the way I'm cleaning.

30:05And here's the good news. Branch Basics is now available everywhere you shop at Target, Target.com, Amazon, and of course, BranchBasics.com. Tossing the toxins has never been more convenient. Do you know who John Bellion is? Yeah. I want to see John Bellion and I want to see him behind Bieber's next album.

30:40That would be cool. I think he's the most unknown, talented man in music. But I do think like if you bring Scooter Braun, like you're losing the Swifties. Okay. This is over my head. I want to see Beaver do it by himself. I don't know the politics of this. I want Beaver to drop bangers by himself. He can. He can. Yeah. He is so talented. And here's the thing I would like to say about Haley. Talk about a girl who hustles in silence. Like she was kind of the underdog for a second there. We had the Seleniverse Haley Wars going on. We had Road, which was like trying to come back. and then boom one day Haley just like has on a suit and rode selling for a billion dollars and she's like staying on yeah I mean she married the king of pop and she's the most successful person in a household so and she but she had a comeback like for a while people were on board but you know a lot of my algorithm was very uh critical of Haley and then one day it all just was like go off queen and she was just like eating her sushi like I just I just think something about them is very they have a little f you in them and i love it i love it yeah and like she's just there with her new pimple patches launching but she's like obviously at coachella being supportive like they are just in tandem and i'm very i like i love them i love them i love to watch them i love to see what they do i don't have a view on on that whole dynamic um but i trust you i trust you my pulse is i'm very here for it uh okay so we have a i think there's a couple other things that we you need to dive through on Coachella.

32:07Well, one thing I was, because I don't want to disregard the Masters that are this weekend. And so one thing I asked Harrison was, would you rather be at the Masters or Coachella? And what did you say? He's changing his mind. What did I say? You said Masters. Pre-Bieber. I'm not a festival guy. So I'm not the right person to ask. Well, I'm not a festival girl and I'm picking Coachella. I want to go to the Masters with my dad. For what, like a$50 hot dog? No, no, no. Here's the problem. Here's the problem. How boring. Because I'm going to talk out of both sides of my mouth right now. I probably in the past 10 years watched 20 minutes of aggregate, maybe an hour of aggregate Masters.

32:47I always get bored when I'm watching. The Masters is a great thing to have on in the background of Masters Sundays. It's a great time to have a, what's the drink people drink? I can't remember. An Arnold Palmer. Yeah, you can make an Arnold Palmer have it on in the background all asleep. I love playing golf. I don't get the watch fest of the Masters. It's just people like the attire that goes with it. I mean, there's a little to it, but to even put it in the same category of Coachella is insulting. But now I really want to go. And I want to go because I think the experience of being there would be fun, like the food that they sell, the$3 to$5 food.

33:21So I really want to go. $3 to$5? Isn't the master's food notoriously? It's like$3. I thought it was very expensive. I thought that was the waste management where it was the cheap food. No. Can you Google what? No, no, no. I'm positive. and the famous things they have the pimento cheese sandwiches correct they have the egg salad sandwiches so I want to go I want to go with my dad oh they are cheap okay here's the thing about the Masters and the merch shop is apparently legendary I would love to go to the Masters I would love to go to an F1 race I would love to go to the Kentucky Derby I would love to go to the Grand Prix there's a lot of things I would love to go to one time because I want to see what they're all about and the Masters is one of those because it's iconic it's you know there's the Super Bowl like there's a lot of things that are really cool about it do I want to go to the Masters over Coachella this year with Bieber headlining?

34:05No. No. No. If I have to pick one or the other, I'm going to Coachella and I don't love a festival. All right. I'm going to give... And I hate talking about both sides of the men out because... No, it's okay in this scenario. It's fun. I'm sitting here. I'm talking crap. But on the other end, I do think the most fun weekend in the world would be you fly into Palm Springs Saturday morning, you do Saturday Coachella, you do the events, Sunday morning you wake up and you rip to the Masters and you do Sunday at the Masters. Oh, I mean, well that. Sure, in a world, yeah. That's actually like my personal hell.

34:51Really? That itinerary, yeah. I'm just thinking about what do you do Friday to make it like to put the little cherry on top. I would go to Sabrina Carpenter. Like for sure. I only have one day of Coachella in me. I wonder about Coachella nightlife because logistically speaking, I know Palm Springs is very spread out. I think a lot of these houses appear like you can walk from one to the other, like you can't. So I do wonder how they're navigating like the nighttime scene. Also some of these parties I see people going to, like they look really fun online, but I know you get like it's it's a mess all these things are a mess but to sit there and watch Bieber that would be iconic I would love I would love to do that that would that would be worth its weight in gold for me for him YouTube being on stage is he gonna do the exact same set next week do they typically change it it's usually like some variation yeah so he'll be on YouTube again probably yeah and does do him and Hayley go home to LA or are they staying in for sure for the week.

35:55For sure. So synopsis. What do you choose? Masters or Augusta? Sorry. Masters or Coachella? What's the takeaway? Coachella. Coachella. But I would love to go to the Masters, but like Coachella when given the two. What about you? Official answer is Coachella Saturday morning through Saturday Sunday Masters. You have to pick one. Please pick one for the sake of the argument. You only get to go to one. There's a rule. If you go to one, you can't go to the other.

36:24okay i would like to go to the masters with my dad after we go to the masters after we've done that once the next year i'd rather go to coachella but does is coachella dependent on the headliner for you no because it's always tier one headliners who was last year all i want to see is the k-pop people who who was last year last year was post malone lady gaga and charlie xcx and green day Green Day actually This year's better For sure There's I actually don't know At Coachella Who Because I don't want to see Taylor Swift at Coachella I love Taylor Swift But I'd rather see her in concert Who do I want to see At Coachella More than Justin Bieber The answer is no one He is the top of my list Well does that answer Our pyramid of artists I would like to see You could get me there For like like a stevie wonder like it had to be somebody like nostalgic like that did i tell you my stevie wonder story no did you meet him this was the miss of misses okay okay so we get invited to a private dave chappelle concert sorry we get invited to a private dave chappelle show right okay and um it was an amazing show and it ended and like right when it ended i forget what happened but we're like let's we just like booted out of there like right away and and i felt like there was like a dumb reason why and it wasn't like for ubers i think it was just like Some cute girl was at a bar.

38:13No, because it was like a random Tuesday night or Wednesday night. It was a, should I say the venue? Sure, sure. Yeah, I guess whatever. It was a Delilah. And. What city? West Hollywood. And the next day I'm talking to the guy who invited us. And he was like, how amazing was last night? I was like, incredible. And it was a no phones thing. And he's like, and I mean, at the end when Dave got off and Stevie got on and played, what a way to wind down the night. No joke. I think there was 70 people there. Like there was no one there. That is so cool. Yeah. Stevie Wonder for me. And we fucking left.

38:58He is. Do you know how much I love Stevie Wonder? Like, you know, I like Science Heal Delivered, obviously. Yeah. I Yeah I've seen him in concert I was like fourth row It was one of the best nights of my life He was better than I would have imagined live Like I love him I just love him So if he you know goes to headline Coachella I would I would absolutely be there He's like the only one probably I want to text Alex and ask why Why did we leave Okay we have to like Mr. Host. I've been curious about this. Why are we still talking about Justin Trudeau? Okay. Because I want to go Trudeau here. Canada?

39:43So Justin Trudeau, longstanding prime minister of Canada who left. And I would say left on - And he's handsome, right? Very good looking. Left on horrendous terms. Okay. His approval ratings, very, very, very low. Left when his stock was down. And there's been times where his stock was much higher. Stock was down. I think the general view on Trudeau was always like good looking, fun, personable guy. The type of guy you want to have dinner with, but not necessarily the type of guy you want running your country. Okay. And he is really living up to that reputation. So he was at Coachella with Katy Perry.

40:22What? Yeah. Trudeau went? And not only did he go, it looked like he was having a proper good time. I thought Katy Perry and Justin Bieber had beef. no incorrect it must be incorrect okay like trudeau went to coachella i they just kind of like live a normal life think or i'm loving the path that they are on me as well yeah i think we're gonna get some form of i think we're in the midst of the trudeau comeback what's he wearing i think like a t-shirt and a backwards hat very um he i think that he's gonna live such a good post-Prime Minister Leip that it's going to let everyone forget how bad of a run he had for the Canadian government.

41:08People need to realize you can do that. And all of it's going to get blamed on this new guy. But people need to realize that that is a very possible path for these politicians. You can mess up so bad in office and then go do something cool and people are like, love him, love him. What's the saying about George W. Bush is just a frat guy that was forced to be president? I don't know. That's what they say about him, I think. Like just a fraternity guy that was born into a political family. You're saying Bush? Yeah. Didn't they say he was a frack guy who was forced to be president? Well, I thought that my understanding of that situation was that his brother Jeb was who was being groomed to be the next candidate.

41:48And that George W. was just so much more likable that he skyrocketed. Like I don't know what's going on. I love the Bushes and Obama's friendship. And I saw Obama was on the sidelines of what was that game? Was it the NBA All-Star game? And he like catches the ball and maybe it's, I don't know what player goes over to him. They just like dab it up. I love that. I also, I'm getting served that clip a lot. I'm also getting served the clip of Bush being like, now he's like talking about something going on in Iraq maybe. And he's like, now watch this swing. And he like goes over and hits the golf because he's on the course.

42:20So I'm very much so on ex-president sports talk. I'm not. I'm not. I am. I don't know how I got there. Okay, so that was a good little Coachella debrief. It was, and it was a good political Trudeau brief. Thank you for that. I didn't know that he went to Coachella. Can he get in anywhere at Coachella? Like if he rolls up to the 818, are they like, Trudeau, you can come in. I feel like Katy Perry is the winner there. Is she the - Well, I think that's an equal PowerPoints in that relationship. he was prime minister for a very long time do travis and in um taylor have equal powerpoints no no she is dating no no like okay so but he he can't not go anywhere if he walks up the 818 door and they're letting in 20 people he's one of them yeah but not before he was dating taylor swift correct so she did that for him he's not getting invited to the gala without her right right okay But Trudeau and Katy Perry can both?

43:25We're saying? I don't know. Can Haley and Justin both? Yes. Okay. Trudeau has global access. Trudeau has unparalleled global access. But does he have Coachella access? Well, that's what he probably doesn't have. That's the one area he can't go. I think what's so unique about him is people of his profile, and this is why I love it, don't go to that stuff. Like Obama and Bush aren't going to Coachella. If Obama went to Coachella, I would fall over and die. That's the best thing ever. Like him ripping Coachella is hilarious. It's hilarious. I agree with that. But that was like true. It's true to his brand.

44:00His new brand. No, his brand beforehand. Okay. Okay. Yeah, he has global access, but does he have Coachella access? I don't know. I don't know. Okay. So the update on the Stevie Wonder thing is that we stayed after 20. So we were at the venue for 20 minutes. It was at a bar. it was at the restaurant bar and it was just like a normal night and um and so we just decided to leave and then he so he went it was like a delayed go on but it was it was not planned and it was a surprise well it it was planned but it was a surprise no it was not planned was stevie just there i know i my understanding is it was not planned but stevie was just there then it was like i'll get on stage yeah the the attendee list was insane okay so stevie was in attendance and He was like, yo.

44:49He thanked Stevie for being there in the show. Okay. And then Stevie was like, forget it, I'm coming. Yeah. Okay, H, you're driving the show, honey. Are you going to? Yeah. Anyone who's a parent knows feeding decisions aren't a one-time thing. You make them again and again and again, stage after stage, and that's where Little Spoon comes in. And here's the thing about Little Spoon. Once you try it, you guys, you're going to be like, gosh, you're not going to be turning back anytime soon because it's a trusted place to shop meals and snacks for babies, toddlers, and big kids, all made with real ingredients.

45:17And here's the thing. Every stage is different, and with Little Spoon, every stage is different too. So in the baby stage, they support your baby's very first feed with baby cereal and blends when the solids begin. Then at the toddler stage, I cannot tell you how important these biteables are because you will spend so much time chopping food, but they have biteables and they have pinchables that are cut to the perfect size, and all baby and toddler recipes are tested from four or 500-plus contaminants, including heavy metals. Then at the big kid stage, as the appetites and the opinions grow, so does Little Spoon.

45:49And the plates are heat and eat ready, which means the minute your kid comes to you and it's like, I'm hungry. And when you're growing, like you are starving, you can just pop the meal in the microwave and it is ready to go. They also have snacks and they remake these nostalgic meals, you guys, and they are so delicious. Like they have fruit rippers, right? Which is like a fruit roll up, but it's a lot better for you. Feeding kids doesn't have to be complicated. Little Spoon makes it easy with real nutritionally balanced meals and snacks designed for every stage. It shows up ready to go, takes the pressure off, and somehow still gets devoured, veggies and all.

46:22No artificial dyes, flavors, or sweeteners either. And you know what? That's a win we'll take every time. Get 30 % off your first order at littlespoon.com slash 2Parents with code 2Parents. That's L-I-T-T-L-E-S-P-O-O-N dot com slash 2Parents with code 2Parents for 30 % off your first order. We've got to go parent heavy. Okay. put your phone up no i disagree i disagree it feels like a bit of a wild pivot to go from well it's just been chella to some feedback that is not parenting enough yeah no no no not that it's not parenting enough that people love the parenting topics okay all right so we'll go we'll cut back in here so to um to go from bieber chella to uh parent chella parent life and other And we're doing that because in the comments, Jules has let us know that some people are like, we need more parenting things.

47:13And I think it's important to listen to the comments. Well, and what we do is we chapter out everything so people can listen to the whole episode. They can listen to this pop culture. They can listen to the parenting. They can pick and choose. You can skip to the notes that Jules does, and it's the best ever. You can just be like, I want to go to 21 minutes. Boom. And I think it's to double down on that. We put on the table everything that we have interest in and then we can just turn it up and turn it down in terms of what you guys want us to talk more or less about. But that's why, H, you tell them at the beginning, we are going to talk about pacifiers.

47:48Passy bears. So let's talk about them. Okay. So one of the benefits that the unforeseen benefits of getting rid of the PASI has been it has drastically sped up the bedtime process. Why? Because the only time that we're doing the PASI is in the crib. And now it's become a moment around the crib. And every night when I'm taking her up to go to sleep, she calls it a BB. I say the word BB. I'm like, BB, you want BB BB. And she gets so excited that she gets to go have her BB. And like that has just become the crux of the bedtime routine. We go up there. We do, we brush the teeth. We change. We put her in the, in the leapy sack.

48:37BB goes in. We do a little, a little rock and, um, and she's ready to go to bed. So she like is down to hang out there. If she doesn't go to bed right away, the biggest difference is she down, hanging out there with uh i with her her fridge her crib cigarette have we talked about that yet how it's a crib cigarette i don't think so okay yeah her passy's a it's a it's a crib cigarette well i so i know diet coke i know what the comments are going to say so i think that i love to get ahead of these which is now when you get rid of the passy what is she going to look forward to and there's been a lot of those questions as parents how are you going to transition her out of the snoo how are you going to wean her off the bottle resilient how are you going to get rid of the pacifier and you know how we've done it every time she's just naturally gotten to a point where we're ready to retire the bottle or the pacifier during the day and the second thing is we make it fun for her so when we put the passy in the crib and she waves bye bye to the passy that's become fun for her so when she's old enough to understand that we're taking the passy and we're building it in the build-a-bear and then no more passy at all that will be really fun for her and the build-a-bear will probably go in the crib.

49:48Of course. And so it all builds off of each other. And I'm sure we'll hit a roadblock at some point, but like, I don't know. I saw, it's a pretty common saying in life, like the more you want something, the less likely it is to happen. And I feel like it's very similar in parenting where like the more pressure that you put on a situation, it feels like the more likely it's going to go against you. And so I feel like the other thing we just don't do is like put pressure around it. Like, it's like we don't scare her into, like, not – scare her into using the PASI. It's like we kind of did it and she rolled with it and that was that.

50:23Well, the other day she was teething really bad and she wouldn't eat anything, which I actually get. And so Harrison was like, I'm giving her a bottle. And I was like, just do it. Like, yeah, give her a bottle. So she drank a bottle and then, like, she never asked for the bottle again. And it was just like – I was really proud of you for doing that because I think we don't have to be so married to the – we don't do bottles anymore. She's like no when she's teething we just gave her a bottle it was a way for her to get warm milk It probably felt really really good and then there was no more bottle and it was like done and I thought that was a really cool example of Because it's just a series of adjustments with parenting and like throwing in the bottle versus trying to figure out some food She'll eat when she didn't want to eat anything Totally and she got like she gets excited with the BB So we have we have two bickers of the week and I know that me like I'd love to talk about both of them because both of them are real I feel like we haven't had real bickers of the week.

51:10Okay. Are they about parenting? No, I mean they're about I think relationships are a big part of parenting and so the bickers are about parenting or there are more parenting things you'd like to talk about okay do you have more parenting things you want to talk about well I don't know we're having a kid on Saturday is there anything you'd like to talk about there well you please take the lead how are you feeling no I mean I didn't know if there really truly was anything that you wanted to talk about there I feel exhausted I was shocked by how hard the last week is. It just rings true. It feels like no two pregnancies are the same because I think Jules called out that last time, the two weeks before Tate was born were the time that you had your most energy.

51:58She's correct on that. And it feels like this time. I feel like I'm back in the first trimester. Yesterday I was gagging a lot. Nothing sounded good. We had to eat breakfast for dinner. Like we had biscuits and cinnamon rolls. that I can choke down but like the thought of like a turkey burger makes me want to die the um the exhaustion's back the food aversions are back and the nausea is back and I'm like throwing up my mouth a lot I don't know what's happening I can't like speaking kind of building baby one versus baby two the I was we had a little hangout set of our neighbor's house this morning and you did yeah it was it was i was three dads like we were talking about your current situation like all right so everything's locked and loaded hospital bags ready i was like nope no hospital bag their jaws were on the floor i was again like she just it's a different vibe like i said stress levels were here for baby one and for baby two there what are you gonna do a hospital bag yeah i'm gonna do a hospital bag you want me to do the hospital bag for you no no no no i want to pack it But I don't know why I haven't packed it.

53:06I'm having like revisionist history on the whole hospital thing. Like I didn't want to shower there last time. I really wanted to wash my face. So I'm going to pack my face wash. I did order. Okay, I ordered a birthing gown off Amazon. I got a blue one. Like, I don't know. Sometimes I get a little superstitious and I wore the hospital's birthing gown with Tate. It didn't have the most fun labor. So I thought maybe this time if I brought my own. I love that. I love that. Maybe it would change the vibes a little bit. So I'm going to bring my own.

53:38And I want the heating pad. I know that I want hospital shoes and I want to throw them away when we leave. So I want to get like some really cheap like some slides. That's about it. I don't know. Okay, I'll get you the slides. Yeah, you can give me the slides. You can just Amazon them if you want. I'm just so excited to have this baby and get to the other side. I cannot wait. It was funny. We were sitting there yesterday. I was like, can you believe in seven days, like there's going to be another human sitting in this house? Your brain just can't wrap your head around like how much things can change in such a short period of time.

54:14I do want There's a little guy in there right now I know And our families start to roll in Wednesday and Thursday And I do want To organize closets And I want to hang Like we have The nursery's not done Like I think the lamp Just arrived today The red lamp And then we have to Hang those Moons on the wall I think the nursery Is done The nursery is functioning But mama wants to decorate more It's 95 % done No no no but We're missing hanging something on the wall and a lamp. Function-wise, it is perfect because of you. You did all the function items. But do I want to decorate it? Of course I want to.

54:55Well, them decorating will do. Yeah. So. Should we talk pickers? Let's do it. Or is it more parenting things? Well, the only other thing I want to say is when you're pregnant, you're due with a lot of people, let's say, in April or May. Okay? So I had my pregnancy class. And I had some people I grouped text and there's some people I know online. And we're all due within, you know, like Allison Cooch is due two days after me. Taylor Monaco, another influencer. She was due, I think, three days before me. Taylor had her baby, right? I had two friends that were pregnant with me. One's had their baby, one hasn't.

55:35And I remember this with Tate because my very best friend was pregnant with me. And she gave birth two weeks before me. and I remember those were the slowest two weeks because I had lost my texting buddy I'd lost the person that was in bed with me you know being like oh I'm so tired or these are my cravings are you are you having lightning crotch same because the moment you have the baby you're you're off your phone and you're just in a whole blissful world and you really like lose your you lose your buddies and I'm experiencing that right now the good news here is I'm in the middle of my class I'm not at the end whereas last time I was at the end I was like the last one standing there and I was like oh my gosh I really want to know what it feels like to have this baby um so your pregnancy classes I think are a real thing where you build them in your head and you know who's due before you near you after you our neighbor around the block is due the day after me and so we're both just texting each other she's like how are you I'm like still pregnant you're like same and I'm like are we gonna be at the hospital the same day like are you gonna be in the ice chip room getting me bone broth and he's gonna be there too like the the where this lands so hard is like the whole theme of pregnancy is all about like we don't understand right it's like the the graduating class piece or like the finishing exams and and your friends are done and you haven't i actually know that feeling yeah like you get it right when or finals week that so finals week is what is what came to mind whenever you have a friday final at 3 p.m there's nothing worse and you're like nothing worse everyone else is done and they've graduated and they're out and they're having fun and they can have a little hangover the next morning but you're still in the library studying that's me right now my last class at college was a pass fail test and it was like the last day and i like just winged it and it was way too close we could take classes pass fail could you do that no you could take one class a year i think and you could designate a class pass fail i could do pass fail too you did mine would always be math if i got to pick anything that was math or science related I would do pass but I think they couldn't count towards your major or minor oh so they had to be an elective electives yeah oh maybe we had that I don't know people that went to college with me let me know I don't remember did I pass or fail this uh this this video this uh episode today we're not done yet go to the picker of the weeks okay do you want to do one or two you let's you get to pick you're driving on the car the big topic of discussion is around horn usage you overuse your horn you underuse your horn you're just over there honking at everybody you underuse your horn no it's like saying no in parenting the more you do it the more it loses its merit you got to use your horn sparingly i've seen you use the horn twice i'm the best driver in the family we're not going down this path how how i want to talk about and i don't even know how to ask the question appropriately today a car cut me off and i knew why they did it i'm like they're going left here and they did what justifies a horn honk okay the only time i honk my horn is if someone's about to run into me truly we are in we are at the cusp of you hitting my car they're backing up and they don't see you the minute you break a rule on the road you are getting harrison's honking at you you're getting a honk really harrison is talking at you cut him honk he's honking at you what does that solve nothing bless you sorry it it solves wake up no no no I don't, I, whoa, whoa, whoa.

59:02I don't have road rage. No, not you. It starts road rage. I'm a very casual driver. But you're out there just honking at people. But they're not aggressive honks. It's communication. They don't know that. It's communication. That's like sending okay period in a text message. I'm a communication guy on the road. People don't know how to receive your honks because they don't hear your tone of voice. You can't be like light honk, hard honk. Like the honk's a honk. There's no tone with the honking. There's a country, and I'm trying to think what it was, which is a very heavy honking country. How annoying.

59:32New York? They're always like meh. I know it's not a country but like - Was it New York that influenced me on this? They need to chill on the horn usage. I love a horn. It's there to be used. No, no, no, no, no. That's how cars, you got to just watch them. You got to read where they're going, understand. He cut me off, no big deal, but he's going to go left right here. Perfect. So the bicker of the week is, is a horn only to be used when someone's about to hit you or is a horn to be used anytime someone is breaking the rules of the road? the horn is only to be used when somebody is about to hit you.

1:00:02It is when someone is breaking the rules of the road. No, because then it's just like it loses its luster. It's not. It's just breaking rules. Honk honk. No, you don't need a honk. You're a little too liberal with your honks. Oh, I had such a good, there was something else I wanted to talk about. If somebody's even like slightly in his lane, well, if they're texting and driving though on the highway, I'll give them a honk. That's one actually. Really? Someone got a honk from me the other day because I was pretty far behind him and I was seeing him swerve a little. And I was like, this guy's going to be on his phone when I get up there.

1:00:33And I got beside him and he was on his phone and I just gave him a honk and he looked over at me and I was like, come on. Here's the big one that you don't use the horn for. Because it's not safe. That's not safe. It's when the light turns green and they're just sitting there and then you're churning to me and you're like, why aren't they moving? Why aren't they moving? I'm like, because you got a honk at them to move and you're not honking. I'm like, you're so frustrated at the person in front of you. Just give them a little love. You can give them a little tap there. I agree you can give them a little tap there.

1:01:01I also agree this is a scenario where you're talking out of both sides of your mouth. You almost made everyone miss the light yesterday because you were just chilling. Well, they should have honked at me. I was like, go, go, go. Should we introduce love taps in driving? No. Just give them a little bumper tap? No. I have a manners in driving question. Yes. Do you guys wave when people let you over? I wave all the time. If someone lets me in front of them, there's right now on Lamar, a lane ends and everyone needs to merge in whoever lets me and i give them a i'm gonna i'm gonna give a um a driving advice that i got from uh from my friend's dad which is whenever you want to change lanes in an aggressive way like if it's like a tight situation you roll the window down and you and you put your arm out no yeah it doesn't work i would just be like no it totally works like if you need to do like a lane change and it's tight for whatever reason give him a but only to the left no you have the passenger to do it out of the right oh my god yeah okay well here's another driving thing that happened the other day we were on our street and i drove by somebody and i waved at them and harris was like do you know them and i was like no i'm just waving at them i'm waving at anybody that's walking our street has turned into um just like a never-ending set of hellos it is happening it's i love it i'm very pro it but like there's just so much conversation like you don't leave the house and just like get in the car no no today i walked outside and i was like hey guys how's it going but you're not you're not a waver when you drive what do you mean you're not you don't you don't wave at pedestrians well there was a jeep wave i I used to have that big Jeep truck and you'd say hi to everyone.

1:02:45No, the Jeep wave is a, what is it? There's a Jeep wave. I don't know. Horns up. There's a symbol for a Jeep wave. Was Harrison putting ducks on other people's Jeeps? That's another thing. Were you ducking people's Jeeps? What does that mean? Duck is the Jeep symbol. You owned a Jeep and you don't know about the ducking? What is it? It's like people carry around these little ducks and you put them on other people's Jeeps and then people collect them on their dashboards. dashboards no you haven't seen a jeep there's a bunch of jewels you know me you think i did that heck you weren't part of jeep culture like that whenever i first met harrison i was he he drove a jeep truck really yes i love that car how are we doing on time jules it's a great we're doing great on time she hates that question do you want to do no she hates when when we ask how long we've been recording do we want to do we want to go more subjects do you want to cut it i think we should hit one more okay i have a parent i have another parenting subject for us okay okay i'd love to talk about the dynamic of parents asking you if your kid can have food.

1:03:48Okay. I know where this came from. Correct. So if you're out and about and somebody comes up to you at a coffee shop and they're like, Hey, can I give Tate half this bagel? And I find it to be like one of the most like, and I can't think of the exact words for it. Like there's an element of pressure around the situation where if a parent asks you if your kid can have something, you feel guilty saying no. Because in saying no, it's implying a judgment that they're okay giving their kids something that you're not okay giving your own child. And it creates just a really, I don't know, awkward situation for a parent.

1:04:36And I think where it is, especially relevant, is for kids under two where it's like they say for kids under two avoid processed foods and avoid um and avoid sugars and particularly refined sugars and so like if someone's offering your kid goldfish or cookies or or chocolate croissants like under two it's a pretty natural answer to like not want your kid to eat that stuff well and when we're out though when we're out tate does eat like if we're at a restaurant or something like we're getting her a pizza or whatever so we do have we do have a rule that wasn't the food groups that i just said no no i agree i'm just like i think goldfish is the perfect example correct right like under two like we like we've been advised by our pediatrician several like try to avoid it yeah try to avoid the ultra processed foods and an example of trying to avoid it especially if somebody came up right now and said could tate have a cupcake she's never had sugar like that so she would eat it and she would love it you know yeah but but we're trying to avoid that so when you're out and about it's a bit awkward someone's like could tate have a cupcake because you don't want to be like no we don't do that and we very well get like at an age that's a part of life of course it isn't that's fine birthday part like do it and we're gonna we're gonna partake in that balance matters it's Under two where this just feels like so relevant and awkward and it's pressure-y.

1:06:04Well, you feel like you're being judgmental when you say, no, sorry, we don't do that. Yeah. My gosh. Like if somebody said that, I'd just be like, okay, you don't do that, right? Like I get it. I get it. So you just want to say yes, but then it's like it's actually a huge thing because then Tate's going to make more and more. But I also get the parent offering. They're trying to be nice. Totally. They're trying to be inclusive. And the worst is when this happens, when you're like, no, sorry, we don't do cupcakes yet. And they're like, okay, so we don't actually either. I was just doing it right now.

1:06:30And you're like, I don't care. Do your thing. Like there's no judgment here. It's just like, please don't give her the cupcake. And then it's just, yeah, it's a sucky situation. Cause it's also, of course you want to offer, it's a double edged sword. You want to offer the food, but you also, we don't want to decline the food. We also don't want her to have the food. So what, I guess what it comes to, right? Rather, what is the appropriate answer when you have a kid under two and someone offers them a chocolate cupcake? Um, I, do you know what I do? I just said, no, mama doesn't want to deal with that sugar crash.

1:07:01I make it like a joke. I try to lighten it up a bit about like, oh, the sugar spike there. And then no, you know, just like, oh, we're okay. Yeah. Yeah. I need to, I need to, I need to get, I need to get my line on that because like I. Do you know my favorite answer? What? Actually. Don't say allergic. No, no, no, no, no fake allergies. You know, your daddy wouldn't let you have that. Blame it on you. Yeah. You can blame it on me. and you can blame it on me all day long the it's just so hard because like you you want you can't be like our doctor said our our pediatrician told us to avoid ultra processed foods and sugars because our pediatrician our pediatrician told us to drop the bottle at 12 and we were like no we're good till 18 months like you know you can't do that either yeah this is this is one of those like awkward parenting dynamics that i don't know i forgot my favorite thing to do blame you Yeah, blame me.

1:07:57I'll take it all day. Her dad is like so crazy about the food right now. We can't have that. The commenters will have some good ideas as well. They always do. Yeah, and I also get like a lot of the time, like you just kind of, you just got to accept it. And like that's life. No, totally. There's so many of those things in parenting. Okay, anything else? Well, I do like this. Okay. I would like to say this to the people. If your baby doesn't sleep, move the bassinet next to dad's side of the bed. next to mom milk smells turn up milk smell turns every stir into a panic wake up next to dad their brain drops back into deep sleep i think that's like a really good um just little hack that could make a big difference if somebody has a newborn that's not sleeping very well on mom's side of the bed move them to dad's side in our new bedroom setup i was gonna ask i do think the snooze sits better on my side of the bed great the only problem is is how are we gonna get the if the baby wakes up okay i mean i would i'm down to move the mirror if you want to put the snoo where we did last time yeah because then we're gonna trip over it yeah i do think this new probably is better on your side yeah so we're gonna have to try let's move the snoo up this week like obviously this week and we'll we'll try some placements but he doesn't sleep in our room for the first three months.

1:09:20He sleeps in his, cause we're going to have a night nurse. So he'll sleep in the, um, his nursery with her. Love it. She stays in the chair and he'll be, that's how I did it the first time. And then he moves into our room for three months. The big thing though, that I want to do that I want to encourage is that he sleeps in this new and not with the night nurse because then he gets used to sleeping on a human, which isn't sustainable. Correct. And we'll just have to tell her that right out of the gates. I think that's a really good thing. We always try to put the baby down. The Bubber was in the snoo right away.

1:09:55Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. That's a really good take. Okay. Are we done? I think so. Thank you for listening. Okay. Thank you guys for listening. We love you. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we are LOCKED IN on Coachella Weekend 1. SORRY in advance if this is a little bit of a departure from the norm, but it was truly all we could think about this week (besides the fact that the baby is coming in T-5 days... are we using Coachella as a distraction? Probably). And if you were worried this one wasn’t parent-heavy enough, don’t worry... Jules already yelled at us about that, so make sure you stay for the second half.

So yes, we spend the first 40 minutes getting into Justin Bieber’s nostalgic comeback (is he BACK back??), StubHubGate, our idea for a parent version of Coachella (Babychella, obviously), Coachella vs. the Masters, and somehow Justin Trudeau x Katy Perry at Coachella (does he have Coachella pull??? lol).

Then we get into a little nighttime paci update because limiting the paci to bedtime really does seem to be helping the whole process, plus the very humbling reminder that no two pregnancies are the same. We also talk about what it feels like when your “pregnancy class” starts graduating before you, which is a very niche but very real emotional experience lol.

Then it’s Bicker of the Week on when it is actually OK to honk, why it feels weirdly awkward when parents ask if your kid can have food, and This Week We Learned: move the baby to dad’s side of the bed.

LOVE YOU GUYS!
