In short
Decision fatigue and “choice-free” routines for parents; plus lifestyle logistics (car sharing vs one-car, golf carts, pool renovation stress), Valentine’s Day/Super Bowl scheduling, and tech/pop-culture news (DoorDash drone delivery, HBO Max shorts, Suri Cruise’s name change).
Guests
No formal guests. Main voices are the hosts of “Two Parents and a Podcast” (Jules, Harrison, and Alex mentioned; Jenny appears briefly as “Jenny Bears in the office”). They also reference “Jenny’s” presence and their toddler “Bubber” and child “Rocky.”
Key claims
Parents face heightened decision fatigue early in the day; reducing choices (same meals, same outfits, fixed phone calls, radio playlists, audio books) helps. “Low maintenance” friends are implied as supportive during adulting. Convenience and routines matter more than ideal health habits.
Notable examples
“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” lifeline story (caller tells dad “I’m about to win a million”); car wash “detailed” membership; golf cart safety in a walkable neighborhood; Super Bowl on Feb 14; DoorDash FAA-cleared drone delivery in Dallas-Fort Worth/Charlotte; Steve Jobs wearing the same outfit; judges granting parole after lunch; Jules’s default coffee and tank-top rotation; Harrison’s “default phone call person.”

Transcript
Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00We're going to play game. We're going to play game off the top. You ready for the game?
0:06Jules:Did you see who won Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Ben Affleck. Donated it all to charity. I can't believe Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is still a game. That was my favorite game of all time. That was probably the first game show I ever really watched. Yeah, it was really good. I used to love it too, actually. I think the all-time drop-a-mic moment was when the guy on the million-dollar question, do you know what I'm about to say? No. Okay, so the first guy who ever won who wants to be a millionaire. You know how you have three lifelines? Yep. Call a friend 50-50 and one other one?
0:41Uh-huh. So on the million -
0:43Jules:Elimination. Okay. On the million-dollar question - Oh, that is 50-50. Sorry. I can't think of the third. Oh, ask the audience. Yes. So in the last million dollar question, he's like, phone a friend, calls his dad, and he goes, Dad, I'm about to be a millionaire. And then he answers the question right. He didn't ask his dad the question. He called his dad to tell him he was about to win a million bucks. You have to see. It's like you'll tear up a little bit. Hello? Hello, Tom? Yes. Hi, Regis Philbin here from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Hi. We've got your son John with us right now. He's doing pretty well.
1:23Good. He's won a half million dollars. Wow. And he's going for a million dollars. And he needs your help to get there. Okay. So he's going to come on the line, read a question, four possible answers. One of them is the right answer. And the next voice you hear will be John's. John, you've got 30 seconds. Starts right now. Hi, Dad. Hi. And I really need your help. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to win a million dollars.
2:07Because the U.S. President appeared on Lapkin as Richard Nixon, that's my final answer. Well, my God, what can I say except maybe you're going to Paris and this is the final answer heard all around the world. He's won a million dollars. If it happened in today's day and age, it would be an all-time viral moment.
2:26Jules:That is the cutest thing ever. What did the dad say? It was just an amazing moment. We should run the clip. Yeah. I'm also very obsessed with watching people on The Voice. Those make me cry sometimes. Me too. Just like it's a high school janitor, and he goes out there, and he gets a standing ovation. It's just... Do you know that's my number one most watched thing on YouTube? Is America's Got Talent auditions? no i did not know that huge fan me as well when i was like 12 up until probably three years ago up until bubber came along so maybe two years ago that was i would love to those golden buzzers amazing moments we have jenny in the office again today guys hi jenny okay but on the game i have a game i want to play okay what is it okay it's called underrated overrated or equally rated Accurately rated?
3:18Accurately rated.
3:19Jules:Okay. Car washes. Getting your car cleaned. Oh. Accurately rated. People love it. Yeah. That's why they have memberships. I may say underrated. We got our car cleaned for the first time in four months. Detailed. Oh, was it detailed? We got it detailed. Okay. Oh, my goodness. It's like a new car. I can't believe it. Like, it puts a pop in my step when I get in the car now. But I hate to do this to you. Yeah? You don't take as much ownership in the car as I'd like you to. Well, I mean, it's your car. Who bought the car? Who bought the car? Me. Yeah, look at that. I want to get a non-car seat car.
4:04Jules:I'm really obsessed with getting a four-door Jeep Wrangler that we can just do the parents in. Okay. And then we can take, like, we can't pick up our neighbors. I'm a huge proponent of being a one-car family. A huge proponent of it. You love it because it's very urban living of us. And do you know what's crazy? Most of our friends share a car. It's very Austin. Well, no, I think it's very new age. You very rarely need two cars in today's day and age, given work from home. People in Oklahoma City are not sharing cars. And given Uber. People in New York City are very much sharing cars. People in LA.
4:43People in New York City don't have cars. Yeah.
4:44Jules:Well, but if they do, then they're sharing. Right. But like. I feel like friends share cars in New York. Yeah. Like it's very, very share, share, share. But here, a lot more people share cars than I ever thought. And yeah, we do. I would love for us to get my favorite car. So what I was looking at the other day, but I didn't find anything I loved was I was looking for a golf cart. Okay. Hold on. Let me just welcome us. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents and a Podcast. Happy Friday, you guys. Jenny, we got Jenny Bears in the office, which was very exciting. Hi, sweet girl. Dogs are the opposite of kids.
5:20Jules:Like when a dog first sees you, they like run around. They're very excited, excited, excited. And then they calm. Whereas kids take like 10 minutes to warm up to you. Very, very, very good take. Yeah, very reverse. Thank you. I just want to make sure that there's a quick footnote to P that when I made the comment on the golf cart to make sure to cut to Julie's face. Because I got like a repulsive reaction. I don't know. You don't want to see a golf cart? Why are we so good? What do you need a golf cart for? Just a neighborhood cruiser. Because we have so much that is within a 10-minute walk. And sometimes you just need to zip there.
5:57And I think a golf cart. I think we live in a golf cart neighborhood. Okay.
6:02Jules:Okay. Where I will push back, as you would say, is sometimes when it feels like 110 degrees outside, walking to that store we can walk to is a bit much. Okay. And maybe like the pool. Totally the pool. The park. Okay, I see it. I just don't know. I don't know. The bookstore? In terms of the bookstore, the pool. The barbecue joint? Yeah. I mean, Bubber loves a golf cart. That's the thing. Bubber loves a golf cart. Okay. But I need people to... Okay, so here's the thing. because I posted my video about us in the golf cart. And most people understood what we were doing. We were in a very farm-esque area where it was all golf carts.
6:50Jules:But there was a couple like the kids need to be buttoned. They need to be in car seats. To me, not out there. But where we live, they would absolutely have to have some kind of golf cart. Safety. Safety. We can't be buzzing around, but we're on your lap where we live. No way. There was a... No, no, no, no. There was like a family-oriented one. I think it may be called CRU. Crew? Yeah. But you talked about going to two cars. I don't think we need two cars, given how walkable where we live is, and given the work-from-home dynamic, and so on and so forth. But yesterday, for example... You. I love to Uber.
7:40I had to go to the bank to get a check. Like twice a week I need the car when you need the car. Twice a week. And most of the times I Uber. Was this a bicker of the week? Sure. It's a very consistent bicker, which is the one to do times a week that I need to use the car. And she needs it. Absolutely.
7:58Jules:I just want to have my own car. It is your car. But it's not when you need to go. And I quote out to see the. What was it? The pool guy. What are we focused on teaching Bubba about right now? Taking her plate to the sink. It's a big one in our house. But what else is very important for Bubba last night when we were at our friend's house? Share. Share. Okay. So we have a car. If Bubba had a car, would she need to share her car with her sibling? Typically, no. Because her sibling won't be able to drive yet. Does Bubba need to know how to share? Yeah. Okay. Should her mom leave from the front? as you say no not on the car okay explain that to bubs i just saw a graphic the other day when do you think what year do you think rocky's getting his um driver's license oh no okay well no okay but just do say like just for 2040 2042 doesn't that sound crazy wait so rocky's gonna be the class of 44 yeah wow that is a weird class wow the class of 44 yeah there was like this graphic but the math was all wrong they were definitely like engagement baiting because it they said if you're born in 2026 you'd be class of 45 and then like all these other uh dates just incorrect ai making yeah the ai mistake train right now is so bad for me why they're running they're doing a lot mistakes for you please subscribe and send this to a friend and comment what I want people to comment is is if you live in a golf cart community or you have a golf cart what safety precautions you take for your kids that's a great call it's a great great call the other thing to to build off that is if you don't let like if you live in a golf cart community it's a no-brainer to get a golf cart of course if you don't it's more so if you don't live in a golf cart community we don't live in one i know we have a lot of of 10-ish minute stuff within 10-ish 10-ish minutes of walking to us i think if we got one it would be a if if one person on our street got a golf cart i would give it immediately the reason for my face was like i've not seen anyone drive around in a golf cart yeah and maybe you guys have no i've seen one person i just think of like taking the golf even taking the golf cart to howard's grabbing a quick drink and coming home okay Yeah, I just, it's the safety part of it.
10:29Jules:I just need somebody to weigh in on that. But maybe it's only you and I use that. Not for the kids. That's that. Now that I can get behind. Bubber can literally drive it like to the next, to the house next door and back. That's, that's like it. Well, you're talking about Bubber driving it. Not driving it, but riding in it. Golf car. She loves a golf car. All right. Valentine's Day, ladies and gentlemen, is hosting the Super Bowl next year. The day of Valentine's. I was doing some NFL schedule snooping. The Super Bowl is on Valentine's Day. And identifying some games I'd like to go to and some potential marketing activations we have upcoming.
11:09Jules:For Flock. And then I was snooping around. I was like, oh, and I was in... Is it in Atlanta next year? I think it's in LA. Can we get a check on that? Hopefully it was in LA last year. because I really
11:32yeah LA yeah so I was doing some NFL snooping I'm like February 14th like that date sounds very familiar and so I typed in Google when's Valentine's Day in February 14th and I P footnote please cut to Jules's face again Jules gave one of those. You didn't know Valentine's Day was February 14th? Like, I knew it enough to confirm it, but if...
12:03Jules:Was it Sunday this year? February 16th, February... Isn't it always on a Sunday? No, it's always on the 14th. Okay. I'll never miss it. I know when I get to Feb 1, I need to do my planning. Thanksgiving and Easter are always on a Sunday, and Thanksgiving's always a Thursday. but Christmas is always the 25th. Valentine's Day is one of those. It's always the 14th. I always think Christmas is the 26th. Yeah, it's not. 25. So what do you think about this? Do you think that the NFL knows? Well, I just, it's less about the NFL knowing and I know I said that earlier so I don't want to like put it under the table but more so to say like I'd love to know the conversation in the room because that is a big like the Super Bowl being on Valentine's Day like it's going to be a thing with a lot of couples like how does that change our plans?
13:04Jules:Valentine's Day is I want to say the first or second most eaten out day of the year I think the first is Mother's Day no I think the first is Valentine's Day and the second is Mother's Day that's the most reservations made especially in advance I mean think about it people make their reservations in advance all the time Now, I think this is a good thing. I think it's fun. Valentine's Day goes both ways. It's for the guys and the girls. It's for the couple. And watching the Super Bowl is fun. But... So are we going to have a Valentine's Day themed Super Bowl party this year? No. You just... You do Valentine's Day is Saturday night and Sunday night is the Super Bowl.
13:37Okay. I don't think the internet is... And people are aware that this is happening.
13:43Jules:No, honey. You're a little ahead of the... Entirely ahead of the curve. Football season hasn't started yet. Yeah, but I got to start planning the schedule for what games we want to go to. Yeah, no, no, no. I completely agree. I just think, I think this is fun. Okay. Do you think most people, I'm happy you think it's fun. Do you think most people will think it's fun? No. No. Most women, no. I think this is going to be very annoying. This is going to be a very annoying situation. But where you own it is now Valentine's Day gets to take up the whole weekend. Now Valentine's Day is Saturday, Saturday night.
14:17and sunday is dedicated at the super bowl how fun and i think you're doing a good job letting the people know because now you have what six months to prepare yeah you're welcome you're welcome in advance for that one but if you found out like a week before like a girl i think they'd be pissed i'm kind of surprised though that you're like your reaction to this you're such a big holiday person you're such a valentine's day person like in bringing this up i thought you were gonna say something i thought this was going to be disruptive to the super no because we're going to make it fun
14:48Jules:and valentine's day for me is also one that we do big time with the kids so we'll decorate the table for the morning we'll make heart-shaped pancakes in the morning we'll do all of our valentine's day stuff in the morning and then we have something fun to look forward to at night one thing harrison and i talk about all the time is that being healthy only works if it actually fits into your life and is of course convenient so as parents sometimes you barely even have time to eat lunch let alone remember to take a cabinet full of supplements because there's never any time and you're always that so it's basically being a parent is a life full of unexpected so let me tell you if I have to take more than three things in the morning I'm taking zero of them and that's where I am eight comes in I am a is the way to simplify your supplement routine once and for all 16 supplements replaced 90 ingredients across nine major organ systems in one drink, you guys.
15:38Jules:You don't need a cabinet full of bottles to feel your best. I am made daily ultimate essentials has 16 supplements in one drink for$2 and 61 cents a day. 95 % of people who tried it for 12 weeks felt more energy. And wow, you guys, honestly, it's become the easiest part of our mornings and it can be yours too. 16:22Jules:This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Okay, I didn't include part of the story. Okay, tell us. Okay. I signed up to go? No. Tell us. So I signed up for something on the 14th. Which is what? As well. A high rocks. No. And so. A what? So. I don't want to talk about it. Well, you. Oh, honey. You're past that. Spit it out. A marathon? I signed up for a race. We'll call it a race. Okay, what race? On the 14th. What city? What race? I'm guessing something in LA? No, in Austin. Okay. Oh, is that the Austin Marathon? I signed up for the Austin Marathon. So then I kind of freaked out that I don't, and I was like, you know what?
17:16If I do the Austin Marathon on Valentine's Day, I think that could work because we could make it Valentine's Day-esque and then we have a really nice afternoon, Valentine's Day-oriented. But if we lose the morning, I guess I won't be able to run the race.
17:30Jules:No, no, no. you can run the race. There's only one bad thing that I've now picked up on, but you can absolutely run the race because Bubber, me and Rocketman, we will be there. We will be in, I guess probably not Valentine's Day outfits, but we, I'm very down for a Valentine's Day marathon. The only part that sucks about it is Saturday night, you're going to want to go to bed early, which is when we were going to do our Valentine's Day dinner. No, because I signed up for it in a very passive way. I'm not going to train for it. I'm just going to do it. Okay. So I'll be up to be out and drink and stuff on Saturday.
18:07Jules:No, no, no. I just want to go to a fun dinner. Yeah, like I signed up because I figured why not sign up and then I'm not fully committed to it. We could do a fun dinner Friday night. I'm mad I put it out there because my commitment level to the marathon is 50 % right now on if I'm actually going to do it. Valentine's Day Marathon. The night before the night before that's the most important part right yes do like a pasta meal friday carb load for energy you know something funny enough that i find i find the week before is most important and the week before are you running so what i think most is most important you really taper down your training but it's about eating and hydration to rest your legs right yeah but you don't do nothing okay you do like i find like how you eat and hydrate over that week before that's made the biggest difference for me in races that I've run.
19:01Jules:Okay. I like that. If you're eating like crap and drinking four days and getting hammered before the race I think that all catches up to you. Oh, that would be that sounds like the worst thing on the planet. But yeah, hydrating you've been really rocking those element drinks. You don't even know the half of it. You drink them all the time? They, they, she's talking about LMNT has these, you know, like they're the powder company. They launch drinks. Cans. Cans. Thank you. They're carbonated salty drinks. I'm addicted to them. You only see me when I bring them home. During, I did a really, really, really intense, like two and a half hour workout the other day.
19:49I had four of these cans in the workout. I think you can overdo it. Can't you? Yeah, it's a lot of sodium. I was working out outside. Okay. Oh, because you were sweating a lot. I was like, huh. Yeah, I think I burned like over 2 ,000 calories.
20:03Jules:Wow, just in that one workout? That's a lot. All right, moving us on. Ready? Yeah, it was getting boring. Okay, DoorDash making their own drones for delivery. Harrison's going to tell us about this. Did you not see this? Mm-mm. So DoorDash got FAA clearance to start doing drone delivery. And they did it themselves. They built the drones themselves, which I think is like, Like, I think them doing joint delivery are very cool. I think the fact that they built it all in-house speaks to, you know, it speaks to what's really going on behind closed doors at the company and them just, like, signing some partnership, which still is impressive.
20:46So it's starting in Dallas or areas of Dallas-Fort Worth and, I believe, Charlotte.
20:51Jules:Yeah. so here's do you want me to go do like okay so when i saw this one i was pumped because drone delivery in china has been a thing for a long time and i'm glad we're finally getting it in in the u.s um i think it's cool that it's starting so close because that hopefully gives us it gives me some hope that we're going to get it in Austin soon. I am very curious to see, though, like, how is this executed in reality? I have one specific question. Yes. Are they attaching like a grocery sack to the drone? And what if the drone drops it? I just looked at it. It's like a cardboard box, I would call it, attached to the drone.
21:41Okay. Like with a handle on it. I would have a lot more concerns about the quality if it wasn't already happening at scale in China.
21:51Jules:But how's China doing it? Well, I don't know the exact way, but I think that inherently what they've shown is it's not just one person doing it there. It's many people doing it, and they're doing it at scale. And so that gives me – it's like if this had never been done before, I think I personally have a lot more questions. So is there tons of drones in the sky in China? Oh, yeah. China uses drones for... Everything all the time. A lot. Yeah. A lot of delivery and logistics, a lot of agriculture, a lot of police monitoring security. How do you use a drone in agriculture? Oh, for fertilizing. Yeah.
22:35Jules:That's pretty cool. Yeah. Okay. So I also... Is there anything else to say on that? When are they rolling it out? I think it's like starting available now. Okay. In those areas. And do you get to pick drone or human? I guess here's what I got to say about DoorDash. And obviously they're a partner, but I'm not saying this because they're a partner. I remember when I worked in banking and DoorDash was like 5%. It was like 2016, 2017. They were like 5 % of food delivery market share. Okay. And now they're the market leader. They've gone out. They've eaten other companies' lunch. I remember Uber Eats was on the up and up, and then their CEO got fired.
Read the full transcript
23:22And they've just really taken advantage of the new age of food delivery. And so seeing them be at the frontier of the drone side of things is like, now looking back at it, it's very unsurprising. that tony zoo who's their ceo like he feel like he's a guy that doesn't get the credit he deserves can we get a doordash market cap check um also if you just put doordash market cap into google
23:50Jules:i'll tell you i'm curious on a ceo did you see the target ceo's resume he started as an intern at target and it and he's he's held like 17 positions there's a lot of company like walmart's the same way where the CEO worked in the store. A lot of companies are very, very good at truly promoting from within and from the store level up. $84.43 billion? Okay. What does that mean? Market cap? The company's worth$84 billion. That's the value of the company. I think I think, what's Uber worth? 160, 170? 140. 140. Yeah, I'd be so, Uber was when I was, like, Uber, but if we go back to 2017, you can tell me this is boring and I'll stop.
24:47Jules:You're teetering on boring, but I think we're going to like this. If Uber what? Tell us. Uber was the hottest, most disruptive tech company that we've seen in truly decades. Yeah. And then their CEO, Travis Kalanick, was fired in what seemed to be a very abrupt and controversial way. And this Travis Kalanick, he gets credit for being like a true, true Steve Jobs level visionary. And we never really got to see it play out with Uber. and I'd love to know where Uber would be if Travis has led it from... Why did he get fired? I watched the show. So he got fired... Because he was a young guy and there was the heyday.
25:41Over a bunch of toxic culture, over a video of him with an Uber driver and I think him wanting to run the company a different way than shareholders did but the reason why it comes to mind is everything that we're seeing happen today, he was talking about in 2017. So in 2017, 2016, he was talking about drone delivery. He was talking about autonomous vehicles. And you're kind of sitting there as a banker being like, whoa, whoa, whoa, why are you focused on autonomous driving? Why aren't you focused on just getting more rides? And he really had, his 10-year predictions, that hit rate was probably the best i've ever seen across of across like what um like what i read at the time and to be clear like these aren't conversations i was having with with him funny enough we banked their competitor lift but this is more like silicon valley reading you know the blogs what was being said at conferences and all that other stuff i didn't know the guy uber was the best in 2017 it was like four dollars a ride it was the best ever now it's so expensive but do
26:54Jules:you know what it's surprising to me what's the book i'm reading calamity club the calamity club calamity club it's surprising to me that it took us so long to think of uber because even in the calamity club back in 1920s people would before taxis they would go just drive around to make some extra money and pick people up for like some cents really yeah it was like a mini i was like This is Uber. I feel like Calamity Club would be a book that Nori Minnis would like. Jules's mom DMs me. She's like, it's a great, what did she say? I forget. Did she tell me it was a good book, but it's long? I think she said it was a good book, especially on audio.
27:31Jules:Yes, yes, especially on audio, which is where I'm listening to it. It's very good on audio. And you know what Jules wrote back to that? What? She said, you listened to Calamity Club? Not you read Calamity Club. You listened to Calamity Club. No, she asked her mom. You're twisting facts. She asked her mom, how many books have you listened to? You guys said to me, how did I not tell you that my mom had read the book? I said, I have no clue what book she reads because she reads 200 books a year. I did ask her how many books she listens to. She gave me the real number. And Harrison came back at me and said, see, you said lessons.
28:07Jules's mom, Nori Minich, has listened to 89 books in 2026 so far. Yeah, and then she went down a spiral and kept going, answering me questions after I was done getting them answered. In 2019, she had eye surgery, and that's when she started listening to books. She listened to 239. So basically a book a day. Yeah, she can rip through, I would say, four to four plus a week. A book a week day. Do you know her speed? She listens on regular speed. That's the most impressive part. So she's listening all day? She listens, not really while she works, but she listens while she cleans and walks and grocery shops.
28:45Like anytime you could be listening to something, that's what she listens to. A podcast? It's her radio.
28:51Jules:Well, she also listens to the radio. Yes, she's our radio girl. Okay, that's a good one. So speaking of, you guys in the comments, does anyone actually listen to the radio? Sean, I did there. Good job, Harrison. Yes, we've gotten hundreds of DMs, comments from our listeners saying you guys do listen to the radio. But the one that stuck out was it's a choice-free morning, a.k.a. you don't have to make a decision as to what to listen to. Yeah, you can just pop it on. And I love this concept of choice-free. Can we unpack the rules? Sure. So basically, you think about the discussion around decision fatigue.
29:26Jules:So I looked up some things and I thought about some things under the umbrella of decision fatigue. The average person makes 1 ,000 decisions a day. But if you're a parent, you're making more, especially by 9 a.m. Because you've already made your decision. Like, what are you going to wear that day? Are you going to get up? Are you going to brush your teeth first? Or are you going to, for me, am I going to pump first or am I going to brush my teeth first? Then you've got Bubba coming in the room. And you've got to start making decisions for her because she can't make her decisions yet. Right? She thinks she can, but she can't.
30:01Jules:Then you're making decisions for Rocky. So they say parents is a heightened version of this, especially earlier in the morning. Now, this was the most interesting thing on the planet to me. Judges are more likely to grant parole after they've had lunch as opposed to before they've had lunch. So a lot of times your decision fatigue can be linked to if you're hungry. furthermore whenever you get overloaded by decisions you start to make the easier choice because your brain is just like i can't do this so like should i break up with somebody over text or should i call them you should call them but if you're in decision fatigue boom text it's the easier route and last but not least steve jobs wore the same outfit every day to remove the decision so that that last piece is the part that i want to dive more into a lot of interesting facts there the judge is so interesting but what are the decisions that you make and jules makes and i make every day to what do you to reduce for uh decision fatigue yeah like so like what are the brainless decisions we make where do we go brainless my biggest way and i i actually do a very big thing that i remove i eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch five days a week and and that really removes the decision for me like i know for lunch i'm gonna have two tortillas with ground turkey pressed on them and then dairy-free cheese on top with salsa done and to take it a step further we're now having the same thing for dinner like two plus times a week yeah we're having steak and fries steak and fries a lot and then we're starting pizza night like the decision around the meals i've almost eliminated in my life like my snacks i know exactly what they are pizza night is one of those things that now we've done it a couple times is so undaunting it's easy especially easy it's easy and it's fun and it's i'm very happy on the on the place pizza night is as um taking the role what jules what are you doing decision fatigue wise well i think the people that watch might think i wear the same tank top every day but i own this tank top 10 times i love wearing it and so i don't have to think about in the morning when i'm putting on i put on a tank top i pick my gray sweatshirt or my black sweatshirt and then whatever bottoms i want to wear but like i i truly like love this tank top so i i own it 10 times i don't eat breakfast but i have the same coffee order every morning um i when i can eat lettuce i I get the same thing from Whole Foods every single day for lunch.
32:44So routine. Anything that I can do to not make a decision, I'm doing it. I agree. But I understand that. If I drove to work in the morning, I would either listen to a podcast that comes out every morning or the radio. Well, I have one. I have one playlist, my top 100 songs of all time. That's all I listen to. And what is your number one most listened to song? Deja Vu by Olivia Rodrigo. Wow. Interesting.
33:13Jules:What's your second? Probably Taylor Swift. Yeah. Something Taylor Swift. So what are your choice frees? Livia Rodrigo dating finance, bro. Who? I know. Just a rando. Like an associate. Good! Like I took an associate at a fund that I've never heard of. More of that. Yeah. I love that. Yeah. I always think about who Alex Earl's going to date next. And I do just kind of think he's going to be like a entrepreneur-esque. Oh, I think she's going to go finance guy. Did you guys see the commercial for her show? No. Oh, you guys have to watch it after this. It's called, they named it Earl Meets World. It's on Netflix.
33:50I feel like I'm doing an ad now. It's coming out in September. Is it good? It looks pretty good.
33:55Jules:I bet it. I'm going to watch it. Like, I'm just going to be completely honest. I will be watching that. Yeah. 100%. Harrison's choices? Yeah. You give your toddler a Sharpie. you ask them to color on the paper, their Sharpie on the wall, obviously. You open Instagram for five minutes before bed and then boom, before you know it, it's 2 a.m. Obviously. There's a reason you wouldn't trust a toddler with a Sharpie and there's a reason you wouldn't trust social media to help you wind down. And there's a reason Morgan & Morgan is America's largest injury law firm. For over 35 years, they've been fighting for the people, recovering more than$30 billion for their clients.
34:33Jules:With over 1 ,000 lawyers and 100 offices nationwide, hiring Morgan Morgan is like sending an army into battle on your behalf. Not all law firms are the same. Hire the wrong one and you may be beat before you even start. If you're ever injured, you can check out Morgan and Morgan and their fee is free unless they win. For more information, you can go to forthepeople.com slash two parents. Okay. So on the clothing thing, I own eight of this black workout set. And I was thinking about it today. Am I allowed to keep wearing it when we record? Yeah. Cause it's, cause it's not, it's not like me wearing this bright pink shirt every time.
35:14Jules:Like Jules can wear her white tank top and you can wear your black because like that's not so if it had giant flower on it, we'd be like, wow, you're wearing that every time. Yeah, but even that. It's funny, though, because I actually have purchased some new clothes recently. And when it comes to day-to-day and recording and working, I just want to put this on and not think about it. And I want to save those outfits for date nights and special occasions. Perfect. I do largely the same breakfast every morning, like some variations, which is like eggs and some component of meat. I would say one thing that like may be different than most or maybe very common I have a default phone call person like when I leave the house and go for a walk I call the same person every single time and another fun fact when there's nothing to talk about is if he calls you and you miss your phone call you've missed your slot for about 30 to 45 minutes I also have my default phone call person Is it your mom?
36:21Yeah I call my mom probably like 18 times a day Actually And sometimes you're just like What are you doing? We would both be like sitting working What I love about the people About that relationship Is the ability to do the abrupt hang up Oh yeah We're like okay Gotta go bye Yeah
36:46Jules:Yeah, you do. You've got your phone call, people. Jules has hers. I am. Yeah, I definitely have a list of three, but there's always a first phone call. My thing right now is I'm really enjoying the audio books, I got to say, because sometimes you just need... Sitting in silence, number one, is a lost art, especially with our generation. And I think we can move to the HBO. this is a pop culture topic we have which is hbo's releasing um hbo max shorts which is basically you can watch iconic and memorial
37:26memorable you can watch iconic i think it's supposed to be memorable i copied and pasted
37:30Jules:that from something i i do see how it could be memorial scenes but anyways iconic and memorable scenes from the hbo library and basically that's just telling us in short like our attention span has gotten so short even even that's why the sports uh they were saying viewership of sports games nba nfl etc has gone down so much because people are just watching the highlights on their phones like we're just watching a clip of it but that's where the nfl has just like figured it out way better than all other leagues with the four screens with they have the nfl red zone and they have the fantasy football, which gives you your short little dopamine hits throughout the game.
38:15Jules:But it's just crazy that this is where we are. I used to love to sit in silence, and I still do, kind of, but now I do prefer to put an audio book on. So I got to give a... I'm now what? I'm going to be way more than a month into no social media. Well, were you on it? You weren't on it for my birthday and that can kind of tie us back exactly a month yeah so i think you're about a month and a week five weeks i can now watch shows again i can now like before i would put on a show and i would be very jumpy and like i'd have the show on i'd be doing other things i'd be on my phone and now like i can watch a show yeah I've got yeah no that's not like crazy breakthrough but no I mean that to me is I hope you can watch a show I can't you can't no I used to watch a show while like getting a dopamine hit that's gnarly I haven't watched TV in like but you're reading audiobooks yeah yeah I can read I don't know why because it takes maybe more focus than a show but like I can't I can't sit down and watch show yeah i i okay so so hbo max okay so they're basically yeah they're starting iconic and memorable scenes and they're going to put them in the vertical format you're going to be able to scroll you're going to be able to watch them it's sad because you know my best friend nugget her daughter loves the sound of music and i can't wait for bubber to watch it one day on our next plane ride where she gets to rent her ipad and i was thinking how how much further we're going to get away from our kids actually watching these iconic movies we'll just put them in a position to do it i have two takes on this the first is is a continuation of what you're saying it's like it is wild that we've reached this level of society where like we what was the kind of epitome of quality television and hbo where like you would go and you'd sit down and watch these complex uh storylines over you have 60 minutes now just we're we're in we're in the short form era but the other side to it and why i actually really understand them doing this is other people were doing it with their content oh correct and so now they at least get to control and monetize their own library.
40:49Yeah. So this, you know, their hand was very much forced into doing this.
40:54Jules:Which is too bad because I do think HBO probably didn't want to. I would agree with that. So another pop culture news, we're going to move on to Suri Cruz, who's Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter. She has legally changed her name away from Cruz and now it is Suri Noel, which is Katie Holmes' maiden name was Noel. Okay. It's not Holmes? no whoa whoa whoa whoa a lot of times though these actresses like Holmes could be her middle name my fun fact my friend's dad dated Katie Holmes that's a very fun fact Jules when she was just like a normal a normie a good old norm Katie Holmes Katie Noel I thought like musicians did that I didn't realize Reese Witherspoon, her name's Laura.
41:46No way.
41:47Jules:Yes. Laura Jean. Yeah. No. Yeah. This is... But my question... Well, I know... Do you know why? Why? It's because of their, like... What's the union? Is it SAG-AFTRA? Why can't I say this? Whatever union that they're in, the... They have to... There can be someone of the same name. Sorry. Took a lot to get that out. But, like, there can only be... Who's the guy in the bear? Yeah. oh what's that guy's name yeah i love that guy i love that jeremy allen white like there's another jeremy allen or sorry another jeremy white so he had to go with jeremy allen white like he's never gone by jeremy allen white in his life but he couldn't be the second jeremy allen or jeremy white so he had to go by jerry allen white so there was another laura jean i guess maybe i don't know but to go from laura jean to weiss witherspoon like that's like ordering a pizza and you know someone delivering you a plant did we see just jazzy idk's video about that no she just jazzy idk she's an influencer but she was filming an ad and she said like prime wib
43:04i didn't even know what i said she was like i have to i have to go crawl in a hole and die The prime would...
43:21Jules:No! No!
43:27Oh my God, what a.
43:32Okay, I'm like, can't even finish the video. It was so funny.
43:36Jules:She's funny, I like her. She's so funny. She's so, so funny. um okay so the my question on the reese witherspoon thing though is like does jennifer aniston like call her reese or does she call her laura you know like probably reese you think yeah but zendaya do you know zendaya's real name i'm unhappy why because i thought that this was i should i come up with a podcast name no Zendaya's real name is Marie and Tom called her Marie in an interview the other day it was so cute he called over to her he was like Marie and I was like what? Tom Holland yeah they're married oh I did know that I think okay so hold on back to Harrison here what?
44:23keep it in
44:24Jules:he does answer his phone like that Harrison here good how are you we're gonna just keep it rolling he just put me on hold by mistake who is it electrical I think we can move on well he put me on hold so he's going to call back but I actually can we can we rewind are we done here or no well I was going to go to Siri okay can we do a quick rewind to decision fatigue sorry the guy's calling again they're dealing with the electrical at our house I don't have an option sorry I'm just okay I'm just recording a podcast Weiss. Weiss with us, boo.
45:14Jules:You didn't even know. Oh, he already did that. He already did that.
45:21All right. Yeah, just call me if you need anything. Thank you so much. You too, bye.
45:26Jules:So Tom and Katie got divorced whenever Suri was six. Okay. And everything that we know points to they have an estranged relationship. And it really seems like this is furthering that narrative when she's literally changing her last name. But what I love about this is, so the original tweet is talking about how Suri has changed her last name. Okay. But then somebody comes over the top and says, and shout out to Adam Sandler who cast Katie in Jack and Jill back in 2011. So Katie could have a legitimate, highly publicized reason to relocate to New York, get away from that cult, which is Scientology, safely with her child and lay the groundwork for her divorce.
46:15Jules:And I know this is just a theory, but Adam is known for this type of stuff. So I looked up I looked into more of Adam. Oh, so and Adam Sandler is and his reputation in Hollywood truly is he treats people really well. he will cast his friends if they need like money or drew barrymore even came out and said like whenever she her stock was kind of down like they were kind of like okay we're done with drew adam kept casting her in things what's drew's real name i think it's drew because it's the drew show um and and then crew members say he is notoriously kind to them so like adam just has the best reputation ever yeah and i feel like that him being the good guy over the past 30 year period has really like paid dividends i feel i don't want to say pay dividends because that would imply he's doing it for the wrong reasons but i feel like the that message around his reputation has really, really now become prevalent.
47:22And it can only... I think when you hear his name, it's consistently associated with just positivity. And humbleness. And humbleness. And I think he's probably the most non-controversial figure in all of Hollywood. I hate to make a random grand statement like that.
47:41Jules:I don't know, Julia Roberts also. I feel like he's... Sandra. I feel like he sits in a very different, you know, kind of area. And I think it's because he's done the right thing for 30 plus years. He's also a family man. He also doesn't have, you know. He doesn't miss. Did you guys see recently he was kind of going viral because he called 3-1-1, I think in like Nantucket or something. And was like, do you guys have any public basketball courts? Do you know that he would play basketball on the Santa Monica courts? and he would randomly show up and a guy on our team would play with him. And in New York as well.
48:19Yeah. He's just a hooper. He loves to hoop. He's just like a guy.
48:23Jules:Yeah, he's a guy. Like, he's just a guy. And he's very... You can just tell, like, Adam Sandler is a guy that loves what he does. He loves doing his little voices. He loves directing movies. He loves putting his friends in the movies. Like, he's just... He truly seems to love what he does. Yeah. But, okay. The point I was just trying to make is like he's held in such high regard and you can only get held in such high regard when you make those consistently positive decisions over a really long period of time. And good for him. So what this is saying, though, was Katie Holmes needed out. I think she was in a tough marriage with Tom Cruise, who is a Scientologist, who when you Google it, it talks about science.
49:10Jules:And now Scientology believes people are immortal. Right. and that there's something like a, it's called a thetan. It's a bit like, like Scientology is the belief that people don't. Humans are immortal spiritual beings called thetans who inhabit physical bodies and experience countless past lives. Yeah, okay. So I don't know anything about that. All I know is Scientology is widely controversial and people view it as a cult. And a lot of the cult leaders say that Tom Cruise holds a special place in the Scientology hierarchy, although Tom will deny it. I don't know. All I know is it's all, something about it isn't good, and it wasn't good for Katie, who was like, kind of got swept under his wing, but then they had had Suri, and I think the long, the long and short is like, they needed out.
50:00Jules:And so Adam, according to this, cast her in a movie, which gave her a legit reason to go to New York, and then she was probably able to get out of that and think more clearly and then file for divorce. Nothing online, like, nobody has ever said this is what happened, like, Adam did it for that reason. But what I was reading is just, like, the timeline isn't coincidental. And then, of course, it's Adam Sandler who, like, is known for doing things like this. And he does them under the radar. Which I think is pretty cool. Yeah. Pretty, pretty cool. I did see... Can I zap back? Yeah. on on decision fatigue yeah you know where i have like the utmost decision fatigue what the pool this backyard pool situation i am i am i this is stressing me out like i would never have predicted like everything where does the pillar go do you connect the the the wood hands up no my question is because someone actually asked this they were like do you regret not getting a general contractor i was like i think you did get a general contractor but even with a general contractor you still make these decisions general contractor but it's it's still it's your home and so you still care so much that we're like geeking out over like the height of the fence around the pool the yeah the general contractor is telling you he's like all right like the height should be six feet and then you're like wait and then our neighbor's like god i don't know guys like i think your fence may be a little high and so you're deciding like all right there's the fence six feet and then alex wants the fence on the side to be a little lower and then that's now four and a half feet but then okay should that match with with and the contractor's like i wouldn't do that but alex is like well i think we should do that now what's going to be the height of the iron fence and how do you choose the right iron fence like it's really i don't know it is delivering me consistent stress yeah but you know what it's really ultimately really exciting too yes for sure but what I'll say part of my stress is that something goes wrong and then you hate it and what I really think every time like we almost had a big bad situation with like something being done wrong and you're like if it is done wrong who cares and so your attitude has made it a lot less stressful so thank you yeah I I realized I just I'm excited to have a pool and past that yeah it's pretty figure out what is your prediction on when the pool will be filled with water so is that the last thing to be done what do you mean like is that the very last thing they do is they fill the pool well they got a plaster the pool and then they got to fill the pool and they gotta make sure everything's safe but does the pool get filled with water before they like lay the tile around the rest of the yard like before the grass goes in okay so i'm going when the grass goes in okay i don't know three weeks okay jules what's your prediction i feel like every week you say two weeks yeah it's very very true and so what is do we do i get a reward if it's under three weeks or no no one or two weeks but before september 1st yeah we're not we're not in a race over here we've already missed like the height of summer i don't care okay we're just having fun now my friends and i talk about this concept of like there's adult and then there's like adult plus and i i feel very adult but like i am not adult plus and could not deal with anything in regards to like a pool or a home renovation or whatever like that just brings you guys into next level of adulting that like is absurd and i can't process in my head.
53:56I love that concept. It goes to, I love that concept. It goes to like, we're learning stuff that like, I just never thought about, but is very important.
54:09Jules:But it's gnarly. Like, how your house works. Where's your gas line? Where's your water heater? These are things that now we know about, because we're doing a lot of digging, and we're moving stuff around. you should like that's something you should be taught in school like that to me is great homework like go and understand i just feel i do how's your house powered i'm glad jules i couldn't really articulate this thought of like adult plus adult plus like or adult comma adult plus and it is very fat like we're paying for a pool and then like managing people picking out finishes for our pool like applying for permits yeah it brings you just to the next level five permits that like we five things that need to be we five more sign-offs from like different departments i know and like i look diagonal from us and we have like there's this couple there's this family that lives diagonal from us and they're like they have adult kids okay i look at them and i think like you guys know so much about life but now like we're also in that camp.
55:20Do you know when you become a grandparent, go from adult plus back to adult? Like, in what way? In the way, like, I feel like when you go from adult to adult plus, you're taking on a whole heap more responsibility. But I feel like when your kids leave the house, you actually remove a bunch of responsibility because you, they they're no longer financially dependent on you you're no longer making decisions for them like it's basically just back to you and your wife
55:54Jules:well but you're just living a bit and you have the completion medal of like you raise the kids and they're out of the house yeah but like i feel like that's when life is is you know it goes back to being a lot more simple how we i i guess i agree but how we talk about it is just like i'm 30 my best friend's 30 and she's like dealing with some adult plus thing and i'm just like living over here in regular adult land even though i think i'm a perfectly capable adult you are like there's just like whoa you're dealing with something that i it's not even in my wildest dreams that i'm dealing with that right i really understand you don't feel like you and your mom are dealing with similar things no no because she's adult plusing yes because like now my grandparents are like aging and my mom's having to take one grandma to the doctor this day one grandma to the doctor that day and like so there's just a whole heap of things that like she never had to deal with before that she's dealing with now okay okay so i think we've time for one last thing okay um this tweet is in a language that is not the one i speak i can explain the tweet because i said what is this language okay but something really confusing about twitter is that when you're reading on your feed it translates it to English but then when you send it it doesn't send the translation it sends the original language and in my community on Twitter people who are really big into off-campus and heated rivalry Brazil so like my whole feed is just Portuguese and when I send it to my friends it's just in Portuguese that is phenomenal yeah I don't know that's why is this Greek I think it was like Czechoslovakian?
57:36Yeah, Czech or something. I've broken into a bit of HBO Twitter. That's interesting. I'll keep you aware. But I'll explain this post. So this post from this tweet, from what I recall, it was a... Sorry. It was a guy talking about his relationship with his wife. And he talked about how they met really young, at 21 years old. And how they've now been married for 21 years. And over that period, how their interests and passions and hobbies are completely different. And she is, you know, this outdoor oriented traveler who loves adventure. And he's on the other end of the spectrum where he's a nerd who wants to stay inside and geek out over things.
58:28and how like on paper, if you were to describe the relationship to most people, they would think, well, that's a relationship that is heading for the end or heading for divorce. But he's like, it's funny enough the opposite. And while it's been 21 years, we've never been more in love than we are today. And that's because despite over the years where their interests have changed and grown, they've stayed committed to prioritizing their relationship. And, yeah, I just read it and I thought it was it was a powerful, a powerful perspective and a reminder that like you're that you're allowed to change and you're allowed to grow and you're allowed to develop new interest.
59:15And that that doesn't mean that that needs to, you know, pull you out of love with your partner as long as you keep prioritizing.
59:25Jules:so what i what i love about this is the time under the belt right like that they met young and then they both because sometimes when people meet young you hear that you know they didn't have time to find themselves xyz but one thing that i think the only thing i could see being an issue in this is if one of them changed and the other one didn't and what's so cool about this is that they both are talking about how they both grew and that to me is the power it's too because that's where I think that you can still, of course, be in love is like one of you is a tech nerd, let's say. And then the other one of you is like hiking out.
1:00:01Jules:Well, OK, every night at dinner, you're talking about those things. As opposed to one of you is going outside and like growing your interests and expanding your mind. But the other one's not. That to me is where we would have a misalignment. Totally. And I think he spoke to this in the tweet, which was we don't know, we don't know, which was that when they sit down for dinner, what she wants to talk about and what he wants to talk about are actually very different. I'm sure. But because of that committed love to each other, they, I don't want to say they make it interesting, but... Well, you're interested in what your partner likes to do.
1:00:42They find it interesting.
1:00:43Jules:Like, I love knowing the flock updates. Love it. and that to me do I want to know random flock updates if I wasn't married to you? Probably not. Right. Like but it's it's something that you're doing and so I'm interested in it. I texted a friend today and I said I called him twice. I called him yesterday and today and I said called to catch up to exclamation marks and he goes sorry man super busy in the weeds.
1:01:14Jules:And? are you okay it just i don't know i gotta remind me of this of this of like of like respecting when people in your life are i don't know leave me alone what okay i was trying to bring it all together how i what okay that was just so silly okay i'm like i'm actually confused well I'm not confused I you know I realize I don't like people say I'm confused because like I'm not confused right well I was sure I'm at a dead end it was a little different I'm not confused the problem is the point I was sharing was different it was it was kind of more so a point that you made about a friend of yours the other day and that that is like sometimes you know people people in your life can be busy and people in your life can be focused on other things and it's and it's our job to support them and not to find resentment through in in those interactions well that But it requires, okay, so what I've realized about that.
1:02:18But it's a different point than what I was saying. But it just happened as I was coming home from my workout.
1:02:23Jules:One of my best friends is super busy right now. And our point of communication is like sporadic. And like she saw that Rocky was sick. But then like she was texting me for something about like a business advice thing. And then so she texted me this whole long thing about a business advice thing. And then she's like, oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. How's Rocky? And I responded back and I said, please remember I'm a low maintenance friend. I don't need you to ask how Rocky is. because I'm also going at 100 miles per hour. So you need business advice right now. And you feel like you should ask me about Rocky.
1:02:51Jules:I'm good. Here's what I like. And she was like, thank you so much for saying that. And I think it's that we're both equally busy. And so it's like I loved being like, hey, you're a low maintenance friend. I'm a low maintenance friend. I don't need you to check in. Like moving on. And I think that that is that is if one of us was maybe sitting at home all day, had no kids, had no job, had nothing, not, not a lot going on. And the other one was running around sending paragraphs about work and then, you know, and then asking how you are, that could hurt you. And I do think that's applicable to this couple as, as if one of them was going out and growing and changing and exercising their mind and the other one wasn't, and then they sat down at dinner.
1:03:35Jules:Yeah. The one that wasn't doing any of that might not be as interested in the other one. Yes. Thank you. You're welcome. What were you doing on your Apple Watch? I saw a photo of Bubber, and I think she may have Rocky's nose. Rocky has her nose. Yes, there we go. Rocky is Tate's brother. How do you say it? Rocky is Tate's brother. Is your butt nose there? No. Okay. I'll go back in my corner, Jules. Well, I know. You owe me an apology. The whole time I was talking, summarize back to me what I said while you were on your Apple Watch. No, I know. and it's not fair to the listener to repeat it, but I promise I listened.
1:04:11Jules:Just give us a summary. That you are the best and you deserve to be praised. No, you talked about how with friends, you have low-maintenance friends, you have high-maintenance friends, you're low-maintenance friends, you've got to be there to support them and not make it by yourself. And I brought it back to the couple. Yeah, and you did a really good job.
1:04:35Hello? Hello? Oh, I've got to go.
1:04:37Jules:Oh, okay. Okay, ladies and gentlemen. And we'll leave you with this because it's not a lot to talk about this. But there's a screen-free way for kids to talk to their grandparents. This is a 10 out of 10 idea. It's a great idea. Explain it to us. Basically, this is a box that lives in their bedroom. It's got a giant blue button on it. You press it. You talk. You leave the voice note. And it WhatsApps it to the grandparents. Do I understand that correct? Yeah. This box lets my kids send voice notes to their grandparents who live 4 ,000 miles away. I wanted them to be able to speak to the family without having to ask for my phone and definitely without using screens.
1:05:13So they hold the button to talk and the voice message is sent to their grandparents on WhatsApp. When the grandparents reply, the box lights up and the ringtone rings, which today is ready to go, which was a very good product decision because the kids love it. The button is so big that sometimes they use their feet to press play. When they're not at home or they're sleeping, the box is automatically off. And it acts like an old school answering machine.
1:05:45Jules:So what did you do today? Did you go to the beach? That's the end. Pretty cool. I have no idea where you even get this or what. It's called a message box. Oh, it's like a thing you can buy? Yeah. I think so. Oh, I thought they like invented it. I kind of think he may have like created it and now is selling it um because I do find like yeah with FaceTime there's a better there's got to be a better way to do it so um okay on and on that note ladies and gentlemen I think we've covered it happy Friday and have a great weekend we're going on the boat this afternoon and we will see you guys on Monday are you gonna drive or am I gonna drive you you for sure well it is interesting actually because we are members of a boat club and some of our friends are also members of a boat club well i talk about her a lot on here actually tana chodi i tell her she's a character now so they invited us on the boat last week but the boat got canceled and when they invited us then they would be driving but then we were like well we should go out again and we were like well we have a boat reservation next week so now it's on And I said, like, we don't want to be the driver.
1:06:54Do you know why I'm secretly happy I'm the driver?
1:06:56Jules:Why? Because when you drive, you don't drink. And I really don't want to drink today. Me either. And if I was the passenger, I would have drank. Yeah. Just knowing how it would have shaken up. I think that if I were you, I would still have him drive. I'd ask Chad to drive. But I, like, want to have, like, a nice low-key night. But you can just having him drive. This is a little sober party. But I don't even like, driving stresses me out. Does it stress you out? No. I like driving on the boat. Okay, great. All right, well, happy weekend. Bye, guys. Thank you for listening. Thanks for listening to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast, powered by Just Media House.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Friday!!! Ginny bears is in the office (should this be a new Friday ritual?!). We’re kicking things off with a car debate (low-key our bicker of the week every week LOL): do we need a "non-car seat" car?! Alex is dreaming of a 4-door Jeep Wrangler for just the parents, Harrison is pitching a golf cart (Jules's face said everything), and somehow by the end of the convo we are still a one-car family until further notice.
Then Harrison drops TWO bombs from his NFL schedule snooping: the 2027 Super Bowl is on Valentine's Day?! (You're welcome for the 6 months notice — Valentine's Day is now Saturday, Super Bowl Sunday!) AND… he signed up for a marathon that same day?! (Commitment level: 50% lol.)
Then we get into the main topic of the week: decision fatigue. Did you know the average person makes 1,000+ decisions a day, and parents blow through the majority of those before 9 AM?! We get into the choice-free hacks we swear by (Alex's identical lunches, Jules's 10 identical tank tops, Harrison's default phone call person… we all have our systems).
Plus some fun stuff: DoorDash is building its OWN delivery drones, WHAT I'M READING: The Calamity Club (ok I guess “listening to”…), HBO Max is launching shorts (RIP our attention spans), why actors change their names (Reese Witherspoon is LAURA JEAN?!), and the Adam Sandler deep dive: is he the nicest guy in Hollywood?! (The Katie Holmes theory got us..)
Then even more “meat & bones” as we call it: “adult" vs. "adult+" (pool permits and fence heights have officially promoted us), is it OK to have completely different interests than your partner (a 21-year marriage take we loved), the power of being a "low maintenance friend" (Alex's text to her best friend this week is the blueprint!!), and a screen-free way for kids to talk to their grandparents that we're obsessed with.
Hope everyone has a great weekend :-)
LOVE YOU GUYS!
