1:00Hi guys, welcome to the official Two Parents in a Podcast channel. Remember, like this video and subscribe to this page so you don't miss episodes dropping every Monday and Thursday. Alright, I want to talk about credit cards and credit card points and payments, but Alex doesn't, so we will not start with that. Well, I don't want them to think this is a finance podcast when they start. Jules, would you like to talk about that? No, I don't care. You seem like you're kind of interested in it. No. That's just how I do mine. I think this is a good conversation. Maybe later in the episode. Do most people pay their credit cards on the due date or do they pay them early?
1:41Because Jules pays a credit card every three days. When do you pay ours? At the end of the month, auto payment. But don't you feel like then you have more money than you have? Entirely. Yes. That's why I do it because I don't want to think that I have more money to spend than I do. I think from that standpoint, it's a really good idea. Yeah, but intuitively, the reason why I've always said, all right, I'll just pay it at the end of the month is because you then have 30 days to, in essence, do something with the money, invest it, get return on it, time value money. But the reality is when it just sits in the account, like your average checking or savings account generates little to no interest.
2:21So the return actually is de minimis. Is de minimis a real word? Yes, it is. And it means small? Minuscule. Minuscule in the scheme of things. Okay. Well, let us know in the comments when you pay your credit card bill. It could be every two weeks. Maybe some people let it go past the due date and they get some interest built up on it. The interest in credit cards is ridiculous. I agree, but you never know how people do things. Okay. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. While you're typing when you pay your credit card bill. also hit the subscribe button and like this video please my darling dearests um where would you like to begin today h i have something really quick okay for the past three weeks i have been staring at the bottom of harrison's shoe and there is a jewel stuck to the bottom of his shoe it's been there for a blue jewel and i just wanted to know what type of jewel i don't i don't know but i've been wondering and today like a jewel that you smoke or a rock jewel Oh, like a look at the bottom of your foot.
3:29I'm 95 % sure it's what we gave Parker, your niece, those sunglasses. And you decorate them with jewels. I think that's one of them. And I think it's stuck there because they're sticky. I love it. It's going to be there forever. It's fancy. It just means you've worn the same shoes for three weeks, which is good. Well, I ordered new shoes and I ordered, I looked at my, the past time I ordered them and I ordered them a half size too small. And I thought that just because they fit big and I love the way they fit. And so I ordered the half size too small and they came and now these are workout shoes.
4:05Now they're still a half, they actually came a half size too small. And I'm just like so mad because like I don't want to throw them out. I already wore them because I thought maybe they'd loosen up a bit. And so I'm back to wearing these shoes. Oh yeah, these aren't the ones you ordered. No, I'm so like, it's really just, do you know what i'm talking about i do ordering a parachute having a pair of shoes just a half size too small it's it's such a predicament because they're they're comfy enough that you can kind of wear them but they're uncomfy enough that every time you wear them you kind of roll your eyes well speaking of bubber has officially gone up a shoe size and so we're kind of on the it's it's a bit fun for me but we're gonna refresh our shoes our zapatos it's also very interesting that she knows the shoes that are too small for her she doesn't get them anymore she does know yeah yeah i will say i put on those she this morning right when she got up she went right to her closet to get the boots and she got the boots that um you got her for valentine's day yeah and she was like so excited to put them on and i put them on and they were too small and the way she was like hitting like like she was like tapping her feet to get them off and i just oh it was it was very sad she was very conflicted but she wanted them on her feet i know we ordered new ones tomorrow her we ordered so we're gonna return the ones i got her so i don't want her to wear them well she can't wear them anyways um but her size sixes yes because they run small she's a five she needs a six in these boots so her five her size sixes arrive tomorrow so she'll be able to wear them um h and i are going we're i'm really gonna miss her we're going to miami for we're calling it the baby moon it's just a trip before the other baby arrives why are you so against calling it a baby man something about it seems something about it's not sitting right i don't know because like it's not to we're going and you know sitting on a beach even though we sitting on a beach no it's like baby moon to me more tropical is like for your first baby like we have one we're in the thick of parenting you and i just wanted a little vacation before we get into the the chaos again a little getaway yeah so i don't know what we call that like a like a mom moon i was gonna say it's like the baby shower versus a sprinkle you're looking for the sprinkle equivalent thank you jules that's exactly what i'm looking for okay like baby moon is too intense that to me is like baby shower baby number one this is like we're in the parent like we're in the mode here we just need like a sec i don't know what we call that do you want to do do you want to hear the dinner plans and you can either accept or reject them right now yes accept or reject let's play okay so night one we have an early reservation at joe stone crab accept or reject oh that's tough because i can move it to a lunch i would but i don't want to leave for lunches remember my whole thing i want to spend the whole day at the hotel do nothing and then i only want to leave for dinner only problem is my outfits have arrived and they're a little bit fancier than planned okay joe joe stonecrabb accept or reject i'd like to put that on ice for a moment do the other two nights okay so friday night right now we have two reservations okay we have uh a reservation at carbone and we have a reservation at a new restaurant called where oh i'm on the wrong email uh it is called the joyce it's opened by the x4 charles primary people oh that's tough here's the thing carbone miami i think is the best carbone i think that their playlist is 70s and 80s i think the vibe is fun and i think their beef carpaccio is worth injecting into your veins so i'm i like that's my favorite restaurant that's a top five for me in america um my only question is and i'm going to be picky because it is i'm calling it the mom moon now um are we sitting inside um patio would would deal break that for me what if we move carbone to thursday then i will do it inside okay carbone sitting inside and my temperature regulations are really off okay and then saturday we have a sushi place done done brooke snader just had bad sushi did you see that i was gonna ask can you eat beef carpaccio while pregnant no getting a no from priscilla really i mean but but is this like you can't eat it or like what Emily Oster tell you yeah I don't know here's what I will say why don't we ask Emily yeah let's dm her let's dm right now see if she answers because I will say Emily is dming us today about the measles outbreak and I do want I'm going to give us a little PSA and this is not for me because I am not an expert this is from Emily and she says um okay the cases of measles are growing rapidly in the U.S.
9:29and if you live in a place with measles because the number one question in the comments is this how do i protect my child who's too young to get the vaccine if you live in a place where there are measles ask to get the vaccine early is emily's recommendation is emily's recommendation in january of this year there were 254 measles cases in just one week that sorry that's more cases than we've seen in an entire year for almost every year since 2000. So it's worth having on your radar. I don't know how we find the cities. I did see Charleston as a city. And Bubba has her MMR vaccine. We are. Yes.
10:11But then we also I think some parents in here are saying they're getting boosters. So do your research, but just put this on your radar. And we do not. The good thing about Google is we don't even need to DM her because she advises against eating beef carpaccio while pregnant. So does that change? Emily! Does that change your view on Carbone? That's a really good question, Jules. I also love their seafood tower. I am very surprised that she says no beef carpaccio. She categorizes raw and rare meat as a higher risk item that should be avoided due to toxoplasmosis. Can I have it once? Doesn't sound like it.
10:52You might have to DR before. You gotta ask. They give you this toast. I, one time, my best friend, Sidney's Bachelorette Party, we got a plate of beef carpaccio, and I ordered a whole other one, and I ate the whole other one by myself. I could not believe what was going in my mouth. I'm a huge supporter of when you love a dish at a restaurant, and it's going table, just getting your own Percy order. I've been doing it with shrimp cocktails pregnant. I'm just like, I'll take my own, please. Let's talk about Merit Beauty. Now on this note, now that we're talking about food, so here's my, here's long story short answer to you. I would like to do Carbone Thursday, this Joyce Place Friday, and the Sushi Place Saturday. Yeah. The only concerning part of the Sushi Place is the person who recommended it to me. they don't have a great read on vibe and when i asked them about the vibe they were like the food is amazing so i need to investigate the vibe of it yeah you do you do because i care about but i'm a vibe eater i know a lot of people would rather have good food at a restaurant i would rather have good good vibes at a restaurant and a b i need i need a b food i'm the same well but if your vibe is an A++ +, and your food is a C, I'll excuse it.
14:30Because a good vibe to me. Now, if your restaurant is A plus food and A plus vibe, you've conquered it all. It's called Osaka. Osaka is a good name. Osaka, Nikki, Miami. But there's no telling about the vibe. Now, sometimes you're in the mood. Vibe, though, is not only like a hoppin' vibe or a fancy vibe. I think gas, not gas station sushi, but strip mall sushi sometimes, you go in there, and that place like it smells like the ocean and everyone's in their sweatpants but it's full and people are getting sake sushi village and whistler is a great example of this it's not fancy it's phenomenal food and vibe yeah to me vibe 40 percent vibe 40 food 20 service no 10 service 10 your company well i think company is just a total different ballpark i would go 10 i would go 10 service no yeah i if oh 20 service i think service is huge well i agree you can make or break a meal yeah so yeah to me it's 20 40 40 i was just gonna say i think anything could be good with the company that's why yeah that's why true like last night i went to kill tony was not good i went to kill tony once before 10 out of 10 last night three out of 10 uh but the company that i I was with was amazing.
15:52It was our neighbor. Neighbor T. Neighbor guy. We just had such a lovely time. And he is an amazing company. Yep. We went for burgers and wings and hot dogs after. I had a green apple white claw. Did you know they make green apple white claws? Of course. They taste like Jolly Ranchers. Of course we knew that. It was the tastiest thing I've had in a very long time. Speaking of vibe, the vibe of a white claw, 10 out of 10. No. Harrison is a white claw guy. I'm back on white claws. You've been back on them, though. Like, our neighborhood is on White Claws. We're having a White Claw moment. Like, we go to the store, and I obviously don't drink White Claws, but you guys buy White Claws.
16:31Do you know where White Claw was founded? Canada, please. Where in Canada? Vancouver. Jules, did you know that? No. Yeah. Yeah, that's a simple trivia. By the same people who founded Mike's Hard Lemonade, if you remember that. Do I remember Mike's Hard Lemonade? was like what I was drinking when I was college yeah that's what Jules was getting paid with from her babysitting diet I find it so interesting when like massive consumer brands that overtake the US start in start in Canada or start in Vancouver smart sweets that one's out of Vancouver what else well our biggest one is Lululemon and then you've got Aritzia shout out wearing Lululemon today Aritzia is from Vancouver.
17:18Yeah. We have some really strong... You've got some baby brands. Lollipop or something? No, Lulu's definitely the biggest in White Claw. Those are one and two. Aritzia is huge. I don't know what's bigger. I think, well, I'm sure we can... Is Aritzia publicly traded? We can look at the market cap a bit. But yeah, Aritzia, another amazing one. Shopify, a sponsor. They are from Vancouver? No, I think Shopify is Ottawa. Well, sorry, I Googled Canada, not Vancouver. Oh, Jules, I get in trouble for this. I know. You got Vancouver. Tech is different. Okay, well, can we get a Vancouver search? Yes, Aritzia is publicly traded.
18:05They are? Yes, Aritzia is publicly traded. What's the market cap of Aritzia versus the market cap of Lulu? Lulu's stock's traded down quite a bit. Aritzia is 10.09 billion. Wow. What's Lulu? Bigger than I would have thought. Okay, Ritzy is$10.09 billion. I think they... Ooh. No, I'm telling you, Ritzy is a thing. Is Lulu 20? 20.92. 20.92. Wow. Okay, so they're double the size. Yeah. Okay. But how much is Lulu stocked down over the past five years? I guess I can look at this too. Yeah, you're like... We're just... This is above my pay grade. What are the... Did you Google Vancouver? Oh. Well, the founder, Chip Wilson, I think he's putting some pressure on the company to make some changes.
18:57Well, let's see what they come up with. Arcteryx. Oh, Arcteryx is from Vancouver? Yeah. Yes. Okay. I knew that. Well, the stock's down 50 % over the past five years and 50 % over the past year. Wow. Okay. I think this is one of those topics that might be interesting to us. Yeah, but maybe not so much to everybody else. Okay, thank you, Jules. I will say, okay, yeah, we'll stop there. So explain to us Kill Tony just really quickly because I think. Kill Tony is a really, really funny show. If you're not aware of it, it's like American Idol for comedians. And so Tony, every week, he has his co-host whose name is Red Man.
19:37And then he always has one to two guests that sit beside him. And they pull names out of a bucket and they have comedians. come up and perform live for a minute. And sometimes the comedians are amazing and they go on to have massive careers. So this guy named Cam is now on SNL and other times they go up there and bomb. And I went with my mom like probably three months ago and the comedians were so good. And like, it was a mix of like some, like, you know, half of them were great and half of them were bombed bombed so it was a great um it was a great mix versus like last night just everyone bombed but oh listen i i love it i think it's hilarious but um last night was just not not a good showing well it's good thing you had good company because as we just said anything is good with good company yeah and so you and neighbor t meanwhile me and neighbor girl we had the binkers and the bubbers.
20:38Thank you very much. And we were no, no, no, no, no. You guys deserve like the dads deserved a night out. And it was great because I requested that she makes breakfast for dinner and we had breakfast for dinner. Now, speaking of having breakfast for dinner, I did not pass my glucose test, which is why I was having breakfast for dinner, because this is really throwing me off my rocker. So my OB, I had a missed call from them Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week, which is not good. And I did not notice that they were calling me. They finally texted me and they said, can you call us back? And I thought, oh my God, I knew immediately.
21:10I was like, I did not pass my glucose test. So I called them back and I was like, hello. And she was like, Hey, have you looked at your results? And I was like, no. And she was like, you didn't pass your glucose test, my one hour glucose test. But she said, you have, you don't have to take the three hour glucose test because you have impaired glucose tolerance. And I was like, well, what does that mean? And she was like, they're so funny they're so nonchalant about it she was like you just have to eat low carb low sugar high protein and go on walks after your meals and then before your 32 week appointment and before your 34 week appointment you need to fast four hours because we're going to retest your blood sugar levels or something so I went online to look I was like okay what was my score so I got a 179 and so I'm I'm slightly out of range and I guess I'm just out of range enough that I'm, it's basically I'm pre-diabetic.
22:02I'm pre-gestational diabetes. Um, so if you have gestational diabetes, you sometimes have to take insulin, sometimes have to have glucose monitors, but in my case, I can manage it with diet and exercise. Um, what happened yesterday was I completely misunderstood the assignment. So I tried to eat breakfast and lunch, no carbs, all protein. And by the time one o 'clock rolled around, like I had a horrible headache. I couldn't stand up. I was so dizzy because part of, part of the side effects of what I have is blurred vision and fatigue, which I've been like having a lot of, like I've been so, I've seen so many stars this pregnancy.
22:45It's crazy. This like kind of does make sense that I have it. Um, and then, so then I started reading more into it and it's like, you, you actually need carbs. You just need healthy carbs. So you need wheat toast. You need sweet potatoes. You need quinoa. I had quinoa for lunch. I've ordered sweet potatoes for dinner. Last night we had wheat toast. I had three pieces. I think that's too many. And what they say is offset it with protein. So like my snacks, I usually have, I kind of have like Cheetos or Sun Chips. Now I have an apple with cottage cheese. So I'm just making better decisions. But yeah, that's the skinny with my glucose situation.
23:23And here's the thing, like I have two months left. And every time I went to Desnundo Coffee, we know I got the cookie. I'm going to cut the cookie out. I'm going to have the cookie once a week. I'm not going to have it five days a week. Slightly better decisions. I'm very surprised that you tested at 179. Harrison was shocked. He was like, you do not have it. I was like, no, I do apparently. I would have thought it was a misreading. I know. And I now a lot of people were commenting. It's the coffee you had before. I did have black coffee before, but I don't think it was that. Because black coffee doesn't affect your blood sugar.
24:01There's also false positives on this. And so they'll test it again during the next... Yes, what they'll test is my fast to then I'll drink the drink and they'll test it again. So you have to drink the drink again. Yeah, and so they're going to test how it affects me. And do you not... Can you not ask to do the blood prick? So I can ask through the blood prick, yes. I also should get and would like to get a glucose monitor just to see what's happening to – and I guess you can get them at CVS, which I have a big CVS run to make today. I got to pick up pictures. I got to whiten my teeth. So I'm going to do – I'm going to get a glucose monitor in that.
24:40I'm also going to get a blood pressure monitor. I used to wear a glucose monitor called Levels. And was it like stuck to your arm? Yeah. Were we together when I wore that? No, we weren't. What would you have thought? I would have thought perhaps you were diabetic. Yeah, I think that it was good. I learned a lot over the period I wore it. A lot of people, yeah, a lot of people tell me to get one. Here's the thing, like it can affect – I'm just happy – it's prominent in your third trimester, which is why you take the glucose test in your third trimester. If you're listening to this and you're pregnant with your first baby or you're not pregnant yet and you're thinking about kids at some point and the glucose test is in your future don't be afraid of it the drink tastes great tastes like a gatorade um and if you do have it you just you have to monitor things a little bit more but you don't find out about it till week 28 and at that point what percentage of of people have it because i've spoken 15 to 20 i was gonna say two people have asked asked me about it and i was like two of our friends I said that you tested positive And they were like so did I So I was like oh interesting Who?
25:55I don't want to say on the thing Do you want to beep them? No yeah The And My Does not have it 100 % tested positive For the first one and then it was negative She tested positive It was a false positive she tested positive or the one the first person you said actually did have it okay but that now a lot of times in your 40s you can have it okay and what does it cause like with the baby it can cause larger birth weight so it can cause it can cause larger birth weight and sometimes in the babies or even in the mom if it goes untreated well it can cause preeclampsia in the mom as well if it goes untreated but if it goes untreated it can cause like you can have you can have diabetes oh permanently yeah wow yeah and so some people have the baby it goes away immediately like for me restless leg have the baby for the most part goes away immediately i'm thinking this will be the same but here's the thing like it's not it's not that you ate too much sugar it's not that you ate too much quite something you did you just you either have it or you don't which is like what's so crazy about it because i'm eating better this pregnancy than i did with tate like with tate you guys i was a dumpster like it was doritos it was leaders of the sprite like kind to yourself no but i ate i ate worse like this no but this pregnancy i'm doing phenomenal no but objectively speaking i'm eating better this pregnancy so it's not it's not diet doing great thanks i'm just saying it's not diet everyone i know is talking about glp ones and it's probably the same for you too you guys but what if you don't prefer needles and maybe you prefer natural and you want a natural option over injections?

So we're going to discuss Valentine's Day just a little because I am wearing my earrings today. They're from Harrison, which I do just absolutely love. They're the perfect size. Thank you. Very sparkly. The listener knows I upgraded them. Yes. So this is my upgraded Valentine's Day present. And it is the earrings that Bubba and I got for Christmas.
29:21We got matching diamond earrings for when she does get her ear pierced, which is like really cute of you. That is a good question. at what age are is appropriate to pierce a child's ears yeah you can get them like when you're one you can get them when you're born should it not be the child's decision that depends some people some people do it for them i think that it's really special for bubber to like see it see that you have your ears pierced and ask so two things i remember asking One, I wanted to get my ears pierced. Two, I wanted to shave my legs. Wow. I was like, when do I get to start shaving my legs?
30:01I remember the topic of shaving legs. I remember that. What was it? Elementary school? Yeah. Like grade six, grade seven? Yep. Wow. Well, here's the thing about shaving your legs. Once you shave them, like you have to shave them. Forever. Did you go to summer camp? Yes. Yeah. I think that's why it became a topic of conversation. Shaving your legs. Yeah. It was because you'd be at summer camp and, you know, you're with all the kids and some people are doing it and others aren't. Yeah. Yeah, I think once one person shaves their legs, then everyone's kind of like, you want to do it. What's the equivalent for a guy?
30:43Shaving your face? Yeah. No, because I guess maybe shaving your mustache. Most guys get mustaches first. Yeah, maybe. And so the question is like, when do you shave your mustache? And when did you? My facial hair came in pretty late. Like what's late for a guy? Eighth grade or sixth grade? Oh, definitely high school. Oh, because like I remember wanting to shave my legs in like sixth grade, I think. Yeah. Yeah. No, the facial hair thing happens way after that. Okay, because I was also reading in this book about frontal lobes. Like women's frontal lobe, I think were fully developed by 25, but for guys sometimes it's 28.
31:30They develop faster. They're saying it's 32 now. It's like a whole thing online. Why is it so much later? I don't know. I've just been seeing online people are just excusing themselves a little bit more. That would mean mine is just now developed and you guys don't have a developed one yet. Right. How about that? He doesn't. New studies show that teen brain development continues until 32. What? Is that because of phones? Like are we just like slowing our brain development as a society? Or maybe that we're just absorbing so much more information. Maybe. Let's see.
32:14Decision making. I'm not seeing why. Maybe we'll have to revisit this next week. Okay. We'll do a deeper dive. So we went to Valentine's Day dinner. It was lovely. It was a five-course meal. And Harrison's mom was in town, Kathy, so she babysat Bubber. And so it was really nice. Like we got to just go and do our thing. And we had a lovely meal. We said once a year we have this in them. Because like we left the dinner and we were starving. But like once a year it's fun for them to bring you one oyster. Well, yeah. I want to dive deeper into that. Two scallops. My conclusion out of that is it was just a reminder like I'm not a fancy pants diner.
32:51Nor am I. I want a burger. I want like I'm there for – I love the classics. I love the classics. I think that fine dining is probably the most overrated concept in all of food. That's the direction I want to take. But foodies will vehemently disagree with you. but like I don't want one taste of butternut squash I just I think that it's it's rooted in pretentiousness oh I think no I think it's rooted in tasting the food I think these people love to taste food it's like winos like they like to just taste one glass of wine yeah I'll we'll save the wine conversation for for another day I'm with you though it's not my jam and like I liked doing it for the special occasion and the once, but like I would have much preferred the place we went just to have had the burger.
33:51And they've got a great burger there. But that's just, that's what I would have liked. No, I have to disagree with you on this specific occasion because where it was so lovely was we put our phones up and we sat there and they spaced out the five course meal. We didn't have to order. Like we had already ordered it. They gave us two options. so that part was really and every 20 minutes you had a new fun surprise I can do that on Valentine's Day our conversation was good the food was good while it was not a lot of food I really enjoyed it yes I loved it and I love the experience and I love the night I just that style of food is not like that isn't what hits it for me but it hit for Valentine's Day I don't want to do that on a random Friday Yeah, but I also think if they did the five courses with more classical food, it would have been great as well.
34:48Oh, I don't know. My steak and short rib was really good. It was really good. The food was good. Yeah, the food was good. I'm just saying I'm not a fine dining guy. I think that fine dining is highly, highly overrated. Oh, I'm with you. But for the occasion, the reason I loved it so much was it made our conversation longer. Once, one to two times a year, I've got a fine dining experience in me. But I cap it at that. And we talked about what? Family, feelings. And what was the third F? Well, I mean, we talked about so many things. We talked about travel. But we sat in my itinerary. We talked about the wedding.
35:27We talked about. Oh, it was wedding, family, and feelings. And we like dove into each topic and it was lovely. And then we had a couple sit down beside us. And I am not, I don't ever want to intrude on somebody. It's not intrude. I just don't normally talk to people beside me. And Harrison was like, I'm going to talk to them. I was liking their vibe. He was liking their vibe. They were an older couple and they had like a thick Texas accent. They just looked, they just looked awesome. And so we started talking to them and they wanted to talk to us too. and so that was really fun so we started chatting and one thing that the mom said she has four kids and they're all in their 20s like grown up out of the house and she said um and I don't know how we got on the topic but she said looking back on it I do wish I had made all of my children make their beds in the morning because it teaches them such responsibility and I was like it's like I know you don't know that we talked about this on the podcast because I you might not listen to podcasts like she just had no idea and I was like oh my gosh the bed and I told Harrison I said she said she wished she made her kids part of my valentine's day gift was I gave her a note and in that note I said hey it would make you really happy if somehow you reference that you think kids should make their beds I wanted you to feel supported that's such a dad joke it was like hard to follow well I'm not following like maybe she maybe she listened to the podcast no she was like how did she get to the topic she asked like what do you guys do i was like oh i'm a podcaster and she was like oh i've got to get better at that instagram thing like she just like didn't know she did not know she i promise you i i yes i i stand by you on that but the way you said it there it made it seem like she she was she listened she just did not i totally agree i just need to know how you got on the topic i can't remember how we got on the topic.
37:26Something about I do, or maybe I said I'm always trying to ask people that have grown kids one thing they wish they would do different or something like that maybe. But she said she always wanted her house to be so fun for her kids and so she didn't make them make their bed and she was like, they're good. My kids are great, but I do wish I made them make their bed. The other thing Harrison did at the dinner, which I just would like to discuss, is I went to the bathroom when I came back and he put these earrings and they were in a pink um jewelry box and he had just set it on the table and it felt like an iconic valentine's day moment like out of a movie i've never given jewelry at a dinner and i felt like it was an amazing moment and experience it seemed like it was very well received and i love doing it and i want to do it again it was fun that it wasn't wrapped like it It was fun that it was just the jewelry box.

38:24And I was like, oh, fun. Like, that's a really exciting thing to see. Thank you. Yeah. So it was a good – that was a really good move. And then, yeah. And then kind of, you know, the girl beside me is like, well, I'm looking at the guy like, well, what did you get me? There was definitely a look. Not at the elderly couple, but at the couple beside us. There was a look. There was a look. There was a look. That was the one little area where I felt bad because I was like, listen, like, I feel really lucky to get this, but could have been anybody. Maybe she got something earlier in the day, hopefully.
38:58But I think that is – what do you think of that game plan? Morning is flowers, breakfast card. Evening is the gift. I love it because you know I – and here's the thing. I don't have to have a gift. No, I do have to have a gift. Sorry. I don't have to have a jewelry box is what I meant. like I'm not going to expect that every Valentine's Day but I do love the flowers and the pancakes in the morning and then the other gift at night is fun. Well this was an upgrade gift too. Yeah it was an upgrade gift and Harrison did get his handheld mixer. I went with pink not blue because I thought Bubz would like that more.
39:40For sure. And have you used it yet? No but I have a question okay on is this a regret or not a regret? So with Tate, we went overload on buying everything in pink. Do you wish that we got more gender neutral colors now that our second child is going to be a boy? Like a great example is like the Dock-a-Tots in pink. That device where they kind of sit and bounce is in pink. Our Juna trike is in pink. and so you're kind of no i don't i don't have any regret on that because the gender neutral color so these companies make pink or blue and then the gender neutral is either a neutral itself it's like a cream or a beige or it's a green and like for bubbers she loves pink she loves the bright colors that was what we were dealing with at the time and like i love looking at them and knowing those were bubbers you know like darn but he's just gonna sit in a pink dock a tot he's got blue and a blue explosion in his room like he will get his blue yeah well i start like the playpen the new playpen that i that i ordered you guys see that yeah gray and white what do you think jules i thought it was cute but i thought it's gray well i have Stickers.
41:08I have stickers coming. Okay. They're little balloon stickers. And so we're going to add color through that. Love. Yeah. It looks fun. We're going to have – Bubber loves it. The slide. Yeah. We didn't cook this morning because we played on it. Aw. Bubber. She's just in such a cute phase. She just loves being outside. Yeah. But it's good that we have an activity for her inside that she likes now. Yeah, it is good. But I wonder, I do wonder the shelf life of something like that is at six months. Oh, but tonight she has dance where there's a slide too. I'm so excited for dance tonight. I think that it gets different where I think that like in six months she can use it differently and they can play more in it and use their imagination and like build it.
42:00But, you know, it's a – like right now, it's a transactional slide versus they can play, you know, queen of the castle and – Yeah, there's a – There's a little soccer net thing and a little basketball hoop thing and – Yeah, it's a really – for under$200, it covers a lot of ground. Yeah, it was a really good buy on your part. And a little swing for a new guy. Yep, the new little – And I have to get these wall protectors. We all have those moments as parents. I do like that the internet is saying we can't call him Bubba. Why? Because it's too close to Bubba. And she might feel jealous of that. Well, Bubba's the other guy, so it's out of the question. What do you want to call him? Well, like she calls... She calls Winnie's brother Bubba. Bubba. What do we call him? And now she really calls him Bubba. Bubba. but what are we going to call our guy? I don't know. What are other options for brother?
44:02I had kind of had it with Tik TOK because everyone's yelling at me that I need to change it. We'll supply me with some options guys. I'm down. I'm good. I agree with you. No, no bubber. What about, and so I respond, I'm responding to everybody like, well, do you have any ideas? Jules? I don't have any ideas off the top of my head. What if we call him Ginny? Bears. We call him Mr. Bears. We call him Mr. Hi, Mr. Let's call him Mr. And sister. because that's what you call Tate. Yeah, Mr. and Sissy. Is that too close? Mr. and Sister. Well, it'll come the same way about it. Yeah, I feel like the nicknames kind of come.
44:36You called Tate. Tater. Tater, Tateys. The electrician's asking if he can come at 430. Does that work? That works great. That works better. Oh, yay. Our chandelier's going up in the living room today. Very exciting times. Okay, so since we... Okay, this is one thing that I've been wondering. As we embark upon our flight tomorrow, well, Thursday, what are your thoughts on reclining on the airplane? You can do it or you can't do it? Well, business class, it's a non-event. Because there's a lot of space. Because there's a lot of space. Economy, I don't recline. But I don't recline because I don't like being woken up on landing.
45:26What if you're not planning on sleeping? I naturally, if I'm traveling by myself, always fall asleep. Do you mind if the person in front of you reclines? I accept it. I accept that that's the fate. And like I think that getting upset about it is just like you're exposing yourself to getting triggered every time you fly. So it's like it's a bad use of energy. Like it's inevitable that more times than not the person is going to put the seat down. And so I go into it just accepting that. And yeah. So the internet right now is getting – it's a bit of a house divided, but mainly they're saying, you know, stop reclining your seat.
46:13I'm with you on this. If the seat has the ability to recline and you paid for the seat, you're allowed to recline the seat. Now, I will say this, though. Does it sting for a second the moment it gets reclined and then like your drink, it's in your lap? It hurts. It hurts. But I agree. It's a bad use of energy. We've got to get over it. We have to get over it. You need to just go into it with the mindset. They're going to go back. and then if they don't boom you're pleasantly surprised okay so so reclining is a yes from us yeah but we don't do it well it's funny even if as i think about it even in business i don't recline i do not recline my scene i don't know something about it i feel really bad doing it but what i will say though is like it's not i am surprised at how different the space on airplanes is.
47:00If you do see me recline my seat on the way to Miami, it is because of this. Bowling ball. In the belly. But typically speaking, I don't recline. But like on a long haul to London, you're not reclining? No, no, no. If it's an overnight flight, I think the rules are different. I agree with this, Jules. So I'll give you something interesting. about international travel, particularly travel in Asia. Travel in Asia, when they bring the food around on like Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, they make you put your seat up and they will wake you up if your seat is back. As they should. So that is actually, now I think about why I don't put it back it's because that was the dynamic that got to me so when they do the the cart service everyone goes up I think it's a good move because here's the thing sometimes the tray table can get so close to you or if you have a drink on it and they recline while your drink is there and it's a full drink it can end up in your lap yeah isn't it funny though how like the way airways work in different countries can can have these like pretty pretty unique differences like that's a pretty major difference but that's a very polite difference they're erring in the in the um not composure not polite but with order yeah here's the other thing though that i saw speaking of airplane etiquette i saw this on a reel it said if you're not willing to move so a family can sit together you're the problem do you want to know my thoughts on this let's hear your thoughts that's not a fair take because what there's a lot of factors that go into play here number one if you're going to ask somebody to move it needs to be a one-to-one move it needs to be a window to a window in the same section or you need to be offering them an upgrade more space maybe they're in the back and you've got the delta uh comfort okay or you god forbid you've got first class right so i think you need to be offering them an incentive i don't think you you cannot ask somebody on a window or an aisle to move to a middle.
49:21I don't think that's right at all. And like, it's tough with these families because I get it. You have young kids and you want to sit by them, but if they're under two, they can be on your lap. So you have to assume if the kid has his own seat that they're over two. And at that point it's really tough. Cause like mom and dad do need to book the flight. Well, now that I'm saying this, I'm a little torn. They do need to book the flight ahead of time, but what if it was an emergency and they need to fly on the fly and there's not seats together what do you think about this jules i just think like your poor planning is not my problem but i there's excuses here's what i'll say i'll say if i'm ever sitting on a plane and you see me i'm happy to switch if that makes you be able to sit with your family 100 i think that as am i by the way i i always move and so and so anybody while while what you said about like the you know the one-to-one swap in theory i completely agree with i think the other side is like tackling a plane one-on-one versus two-on-one it's a whole different ball game and so i'm i'm like i'm very happy to no but this is what i'm saying things easier you and i oh but like I would say under probably six, seven years old.
50:44I think that gets, I don't know what that age would be, maybe 10 gets to be the point where it's like it, you know. No, no, no. But I think this is, this is not the thing I'm not asking here is what would you and I do? I'm always moving for a family and I know you are too, especially now having one. I think you have to think though, what is acceptable, acceptable etiquette? And I don't think you can get on the plane assuming like, I think that what this person said, if you're not willing to move for a family, you're the problem. I don't agree with that. People don't have to move. They paid for their seat.
51:17I'm the problem. No, I don't think. How much would someone need to Venmo you to do a seat swap? What do you think is right? If they're willing to Venmo me, that means it's important enough to them that I would just move. So you would not take the Venmo that said, hey, I'll Venmo you$100. No, if it's that important to them. Okay, here's the question. you've got a great aisle or window seat okay someone comes up to you is just like hey you know i've got a middle i really don't want to sit in the middle so nothing to do with family but how much do they need to pay you how much do they need to venmo you to take the middle seat to give up your aisle or or window five hour flight more than the cost of my flight more than yeah so 100 bucks you're saying no no yeah i mean yes i'm saying no and p it sounds like you're saying yes at 100 bucks but that's not a pushover no no because if you're going from here to new york you're still getting to new york like you still need to go to new york now you've just got 100 back which i'm good with i think 100 is a is a very fair offer where they can say yes or no Yeah.
52:30I mean, I'm saying no. If the price of your flight was$250, and somebody comes up to you and says, I'll reimburse you for the ticket price,$250, you wouldn't swap them? No, I would. I mean, equal to or more than the cost of my flight. Equal to is good. Okay. Okay. But I'm purposefully paying for not a middle seat. Right. So I need to be reimbursed for that. Well, I guess the reality is the cost of that aisle or window is, I feel like it's like 79 bucks a lot at the time. Yeah, usually it's 80, right? Well, then they should have purchased it. Yeah. But what if they couldn't have? What if they got on too late, though?
53:10That's their fault. But are you down for them to pay you on IRL? Yeah, for the cost of my flight. So at$100, it's not – I see what you're saying. At$100, they're not – that's kind of what the market value would be. And so you've got to hit them with a bit of a premium. Yeah. But like for a family, if it was that worth it to them – I'm saying no – that wasn't a family question. That was just a – I'm also looking at the family's faces. I've emailed someone for their seat before. We had to pay somebody for their seat one time because it was the most crowded flight. It was late. It was past Bubber's bedtime.
53:48Bubber was not happy. We had two, we had, you and I were sitting in different seats. We had to rebook the flight because we missed our flight beforehand. And we were asking somebody to move. No, it was a one-to-one swap. It was a one-to-one swap. But this flight was so chaotic and you had a hundred dollar bill. And we just said nonchalantly, can we swap you? And I will say in her defense, she was like, I'm not, she's like, no, no, no. I'm not taking the money. I was like, no, please do. And you had her crouched down really low so nobody saw the situation go down. And Harrison just said, please take the money and just sit in that seat.
54:19And she did. And so kudos to her. He said, please don't make a scene and just take it and sit there. We'll feel better. And she did it. And that was a rare moment that you and I had cash on us. Yes. Because we don't want to be like, what's your Venmo? That would be a lot. But I do think, Jules, I am with you. I would always move for a family, especially if they have young kids. Especially sometimes you can see the look on the mom's face. And I'm just like, girl, I'm moving. Well, okay, here's a question for you. Since we're kind of firing off questions. If you tell a babysitter they can eat anything, you're welcome to anything in the fridge, do you mean they can eat anything?
56:34Yes, 100%. And what I'll say is like our fridge has so much food turnover that like I now at this point have no idea who's eating what between me, you, Tate and Winnie. And so, yeah, like, when I say the fridge is yours, like, the fridge is truly yours. I feel like when, like, I was single living in Venice or, like, when it was just us in the house, like, that's when food is a little more marked. And maybe I would think differently about that question. or I think I would actually notice. But if I said it, I would stand by it. And if there's something for them not to take, just clarify. Okay, please don't have that bottle of wine.
57:34Oh, that's an important caveat actually. Okay, bottles of wine? Bottles of wine. When you say to someone, please help yourself to whatever, that is my definition of that right now I was anything in the fridge, anything in the freezer, any food in the cabinet. But it excludes wine and includes all what I would say is like well-branded alcohol. Okay, wait. So if somebody is house-sitting for you for five days. Now we're going to house-sitting. Yeah. Not to. If they're babysitting, they're not drinking the alcohol. Yeah, because babysitting, that's the difference. But if they're babysitting the children and you say anything in the fridge you want, if you got caviar in there, yeah, they can eat it.
58:21Yeah. But like when we go out, here's the great example, right? When we go out of town and we have the house sitter come and stay and watch the house, right? Like we did over Christmas break. To me, it was everything in the house is yours with the exception of the wine. But we said help yourself. We didn't clarify. And I don't have enough of a pulse on our wine to know what would be gone and not gone. We just have a few very, very, very special bottles of wine. But I think you need to just move those somewhere. They are. It would be a wild move to have someone's wine while you were house sitting for them.
59:00Unless – I think so too. Unless it's like you have a$15 bottle in there. It's okay to have that, right? well the way the way we have it now is we actually have a uh area of wine which is basically anyone can help themselves for because there were a couple times when we had had people over and i looked over and i saw the bottles of wine open i was like holy shit and so we i moved those wines and now we have like the the weekday open wines and then we have the special ones but in short if we say you can have anything that's like you can have anything yeah and and i think the bigger take is like i wouldn't eat i i won't notice because the the turnover in our fridges is so high right now because like our girls eat like take money eat like us okay if they're eating full meals so there's three people or four people i think this came from i was house sitting for my friends and i ate their ice cream and one of my other friends said i would be so mad if you ate my ice cream while you're house sitting for me here's my question on ice cream totally fair game but you're scooping it out putting it in a bowl right it was a pint of i finished the pint of ice cream but if you didn't finish the pint like you're not spooning it back in there no i have manners i'm just i'm just clarifying that we're taking it then i'm good then the pint of ice cream's fair game yeah my friend said that they would be mad if i ate their ice cream like we have sally's pizza in the freezer right now and from new haven connecticut So that would be the only thing I would potentially notice that was gone.
1:00:32But I could see it just looks like a frozen pizza. There's no label on it. Yeah, but I'd welcome that. That's funny. You got to provide the perks. I completely agree. And you got to have a pretty well-stocked fridge. A Girl Scout sets a record-breaking 75 ,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies sold across 50 states. how about that it's interesting because you one time told us well first about this girl good for her okay do we know like did she have a method her mom it's her mom and let me tell you what these this mom and daughter look they look identical it was actually the cutest thing ever but the mom like was making a video and shows her the little girl and she's like hi do you guys want to buy some girl scout cookies and everyone's like yes so she just went door to door no it's It's a video online.
1:01:25Social media. Okay. Smart. Sorry, 75 ,000 boxes? Boxes. Okay. So how many dollars? How much is a Girl Scout cookie? What are they,$7.99? Five? They were five when I was a Girl Scout, so they probably got it. Maybe. I do think they were whole numbers, though. I do think you might be right, because we bought some last year. Six dollars per package. Six dollars. Okay, so what's that? Six times 75 ,000. $450 ,000. wow good for her okay but now here's the thing so she turns that into the girl scouts bank well she doesn't see any of that and then what we learned last year from you yeah so so this this is a great callback to the tweet which showed that uh was it 2024 jewels what was the year 2023 in 2023 the girl scouts brought in 192 million dollars in receipts and only paid out allegedly eight million dollars of that so just around four percent of dollars raised actually went to uh went to the girl scouts meanwhile they spent 18 million in it services i wonder who their it person was so and and like i feel like at what point do we have someone new come in because i love the i love the action i love the act of it all i love the idea behind it we just got got to make sure these dollars are are having more impact well i i do hate it now that we're talking about it she worked her butt off and i know she did it on social media but still like points for creativity whatever you still sold 75 000 boxes worth she doesn't see a dollar of that the girls should get a little commission i agree let's give them 20 30 percent and tie some more yeah they'll sell a lot more but it's like what are what are we selling it for i would say those raffles were always my favorite thing growing up that's really interesting i feel like the people who wouldn't i wonder what how good of a predictor of success it is for the people who win those uh raffle sales like what raffles well we would like sell tickets to raffles so like we would have like a uh school fair and so you would go and you'd have to sell tickets to the to the raffle at the school fair which you'd get like you know prizes would be jerseys and gift cards to restaurants and um i would always try and win it every year did you do magazine oh yeah but like what now i'm thinking about what were we doing like we were selling magazines on behalf of companies to like our grandparents and parents subscriptions to magazines also did you not sell like wrapping paper wrapping paper and we didn't get any of the money jules this is a huge scam i we would sell like cinnamon rolls wrapping paper you would say you would have these books that you would sell to people and you didn't see any of the money like the student doesn't get 10 percent of that they say the school does you get you would get like um i don't know like a pencil for selling no and then like the highest earner in the class would literally get a pencil that's actually a really big scam we should look into who gets that money yeah well that's what i loved about how how our school did it is is the money went to like directly to the school because it was from the school's the school fairs raffle i was selling like cosmopolitan magazine to my grandma ours was a school and we had a scholastic scholastic was doing ours that sounds fishy it was fishy fishy also we heard from kathy harrison's mother that they did not have father-daughter dances in canada so he did not know what we were talking about just to do a little call back to that um okay let's move to the bicker of the week and the bicker of the week is is it okay to eat on the couch.
1:05:27Now, largely speaking, yes, of course, it's okay to eat on the couch. I have, however, banned eating on our new couch for a couple of reasons. The first reason is it's light green with white flowers on it. The second reason is the table, the kitchen table and our bar stools are right by, like it's all the same room. So there's two other areas that you can eat on and the third is you can eat on the couch in the the formal living room right there but i'm banning eating on this couch because there's already pasta sauce on the floor in front of it and i've and i keep having to vacuum the couch because so i'm just i'm just i'm making it easier on us as our kids get older to avoid like i it's not lost on me that our house is going to get destroyed i do just want to try to save this one couch so i'm just saying no eating on the couch yeah i i am good with it as um what i'm curious to see is what are the exceptions that are made and so today during programming you asked me for a sausage and i made you the sausage and i brought it over and and i brought it right over and you're like no i'm not eating this on the couch and i was very impressed that you held to it no there's no eating on the couch if you to eat on the couch because i grow the babies yeah yeah no i don't think this was a bicker i think it's more of just like a i don't remember the last time a rule was created in the house and like you created a rule and i'm like oh and so i'm just curious like how is this rule gonna be followed okay so i if i like i have two rules in the house and one i let you guys get away with all the time.
1:07:12Today the delivery guys got away with it. The door needs to be closed. If you open the door to the front yard. You have loosened up on that. I've really loosened up on it because I just, it wasn't my, like you, it was just harder to fight with you guys. Just shut the door and then there's flies in our house and you know what? I've gotten really good at killing flies. Well, Bubba loves to just like go out on the stoop and just wave at everyone and you can't shut the door when she's out there. Right. You gotta be watching her. I would love a screen door for my birthday maybe. Ooh. So in July, maybe you could have - That's a really good show.
1:07:44A screen door made. That would be amazing, actually. That's a really good show. Okay, so we'll do that. Now, speaking of house rules. Yes. It is funny. We don't really have any. Well, that's why I said it's our first house rule. So I'm all good. I'm abiding by it, but I'm monitoring the situation. You want to wear your shoes in our house? Bring them on. Bubber and Winnie, we say there's nothing in this world, nothing in this house that they can hurt. And I do mean that. but I am going to have to let the neighbors know we don't eat on our couch anymore. Do you think it'll be confusing for Tate that she can eat on one couch, but not the other couch?
1:08:19Well, I think what we need to do with Bubber is just have Bubber eat in her high chair. I agree. She, she cannot possibly get all the food in her mouth. It is a lose, lose, lose, lose, lose. I don't know why we try it. I love it. Like I, I love that rule in theory. The reality is we'll see how it shakes out. Well, I just want it to be on your mind. Do not take spaghetti on that couch. Don't take pizza on that couch. Like, let's try to remember. Cause like, don't take chocolate on there that can melt on there. Let's try to not eat on the couch. Did I drop something on the couch? Because this rule came one day after I ate on the couch.
1:08:59No, it was, it was, it was hair. It was, there was the cheese eating. There was so much food on, I was eating on the couch. I was eating my true fruit on the couch. And I said, we have to do a giant ban. Bubba was eating rice cakes and like those are now those are actually more of a toy for her and so there was just stuff and I just said no more eating on the couch but no you didn't drop anything okay good you did not okay things we DM'd each other Norway Olympics is Norway winning the medals Norway number one in the Olympic count both in total medals and gold medals and USA's third USA's number three.
1:09:37Will be number one. Currently number one in our hearts. Correct. And I did not see - Number three in the program. Number one in the hearts. Soon to be number one in the program too. I did notice Canada was not on my list. America will finish number one. I didn't see Canada on my top ten. We are not the best when it comes to athletics. I was really sad that they weren't on there though. I was looking for them. Eleven. They're eleven. Well that's why. Out of how many? To not be top ten is - 26. Okay, more than halfway. Good for them. Okay. Norway and the Olympics. So Norway dominates the Olympics while running youth sports the opposite way of the U.S.
1:10:11This is so interesting. There's no scorekeeping until the age of 13. There's no early travel teams. Participation trophies for all. And a simple motto, joy of sport for all. What do you think about this? So I think what's really interesting to also call out is Norway only has about 5 million people in the country. And they're not just having success in the Winter Olympics. They've also had a lot of success in the Summer Olympics and in golf and in tennis. And so you're seeing the country thrive from an athletic lens right now. And I think that it focuses on, I think there's probably two two key takeaways on why this is working so well is the first is it really allows the kids to follow their passions.
1:11:05And, you know, there's the saying in business that, you know, one of the biggest pieces of edge when you're building something is do you love what you're doing? Because when you love what you're doing, it doesn't feel like work. And the same thing is to be said in sports. And I think one of the dynamics that happens here in North America is when a kid starts to show early signs of success in a sport, there's the pressure for them to specialize in the sport because they're good at it, not because that's what they love. So, and this kind of ties to the second sport, which the second point, and there's a ton of different studies on this when it looks at the most successful athletes generally speaking they're multi-sport athletes who michael jordan like when you look at uh no uh when you look at like olympians oh nhl players nfl players and so on and so forth okay well research shows that this works because it protects kids intrinsic motivation so it prioritizes fun and mastery over the outcomes and it encourages multi-sport participation, which is exactly what you're saying.
1:12:18Also by keeping kids in sports longer and letting passion come from within Norway develops elite athletes and healthier, happier kids proving the slow, sustainable path always wins in the end. My only pushback on this is I'm not for participation trophies for everyone. But up until 13. And I think the point, the point of the participation trophies is like, it encourages you to just keep trying things. And the point that I was making is like, chances are if you're a great runner or a great football player, you'd also be a great basketball player. And so rather than be stuck in that one specific area, it encourages you to branch out.
1:13:02I'm actually seeing exactly what you're saying. Yeah, so you're not so – and I think a big thing on here is no early travel team. So like for example, I did volleyball and I did it in sixth grade and I traveled every other weekend. I didn't have time to play anything else. Yeah, I think one of the really tough dynamics is the pressure that's put on by coaches. And so coaches pressure parents, hey, if you want your kid to be on this team or play in this sport, they've got to commit. Totally. And I think there's a lot of near-term benefit that the kids or that the teams and the kids get from that.
1:13:42But over the long run, I think that fades. And I think a large part of that is passion. Like you're just you're going to spend more time doing something if you love doing it. And if you're playing soccer because you're good at it, not because you love it and inherently you would have loved football, that's a lose-lose. You're not going to be successful. Maybe we can sort of try to implement this in our household. But it kind of draws to what we spoke about this on last episode. I want to give our kids exposure to as many sports and experiences in life so inherently they can then choose to follow what they're most passionate about.
1:14:19And in turn, which is what I think will make them both most happy and most successful. I'm with you 100 % on that. Okay. The second thing is we DMed. Waymo is paying door dashers$11.50 to close robo-taxi doors that were left open. I giggled out loud whenever I saw this. Hilarious. It's fucking amazing. Are people leaving the doors open? That's not fair to the Waymo. Like, imagine the Waymo. He's stuck. He can't go anywhere because his doors are left open. That's mean. Harrison's like, perfect. I think we need to deliver these Waymo some consequences. Now, I would never want it to then hold up traffic, but...
1:15:04Well, maybe the guys overseas, the traffic controllers could tell them, just jolt forward a little bit and your doors will close. Let's say you have to go meet someone for a coffee at a hotel and you order a Waymo and rather than take you to the hotel, it takes you to the other side of the bridge, all around town, and then gets you to the hotel. At the end of that, you want to be spiteful to a robot and leave the doors open until it gets stuck? No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't have the heart. I couldn't leave the door open. It's pretty funny. But you're stimulating the economy now. And you know who I'm very pro giving money to?
1:15:38The DoorDashers. DoorDash. And DoorDashers, who we love. Well, we do love DoorDashers, but here's my question. So$11.50 to close robo-taxi doors. How much of the$11.50 does the DoorDasher get? Because we know that there's the DoorDasher tip area, and they tell you 100 % of this goes to your DoorDasher. How much are they getting of the$11.50? And then does it send them - I think DoorDash deserves a facilitation fee. I agree with that. As long as everyone's being treated fairly, which I'm sure they are. I'm just wondering the percent that they're getting. And then here's my other question is, so does it ping DoorDash or like you have a delivery, even though you're two miles away, you got to go close this Waymo's door?
1:16:15But then what if somebody walks by and closes it? Hopefully they get paid. I hope so. But I think it's just like a new, because outside of delivering food, there's other tasks that door dashers can do like oh you can be a what's the word courier or things like that so i think it's just like a new offering to door dashers that they can pick that up as a job i love it me too i think it's great especially around austin like well maybe maybe do keep leaving your door open start leaving your door no no no i've never done it yeah well it is cool that listen here's the thing a lot of people must be doing it if they've had to implement this so that's interesting but i would imagine if i saw somebody get out of a waymo and leave the door open i would just go shut i would go close the door and then the waymo can go on their way me too um things we learned this week okay so i saw this post and it said hey don't touch that apple now you're thinking about an apple and i was like I am thinking about an apple.
1:17:19And then it said, that's what happens to your kids when you say, don't run, don't climb. You're saying don't run. So then all they want to do is run. So instead say, walk only. And so the other day with Bubber, she climbed up on this chair. And instead of me saying, don't climb, I said, sit. And she sat on the chair. So they're saying, don't say, don't do this action. And then say the action you don't want them to do because in their brains, they hear climbing and they're like, I just want to climb. So instead say what you want them to do. I can really get behind and I really do inherently buy into the power of messaging.
1:17:59Yeah. And I see how important it is both in day-to-day life, whether it be business, friends, relationships. And so bringing that to children makes all the sense in the world. And so I'm all about putting these practices into play and calling them out both positively and negatively. So great call out. More examples. Don't run. Walking feet. Stop hitting. Gentle hands. Don't yell. Quiet voice. Yes. Love it. Well, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for listening. By the time this comes out, Harrison and I are on the beach in Miami. Sammy, I would love a virgin pina colada this time, but what I'm really looking the most forward to, the coconuts.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we’re getting ready to BABYMOON. If you’re watching this, we’re on the beach right now (yay) trying to figure out what you even call a babymoon for baby number two (because “babymoon” feels… aggressive). Sprinkle? Second moon? TBD. Either way, we recorded this episode right before heading out and immediately spiraled.
We start with trip planning debates, pregnancy food rules (can you eat beef carpaccio while pregnant?), and the age-old question of what actually matters more at a restaurant: the food or the vibe.
Then we get into the big one: failing the one-hour glucose test. What it means, what it doesn’t, what comes next, and why it’s way less dramatic than it sounds but still mentally jarring when you get the call. From there, we talk about ear piercing timing, leg shaving & making the bed.
Mid-episode we cover Valentine’s Day, the jewelry-box-at-dinner move, whether we regret buying so much pink before having a boy, and the very real struggle of finding a nickname for baby boy that YOU GUYS like.
Travel etiquette becomes a full debate (as always): reclining seats, switching seats for families, and whether you’re ever obligated to move on a plane. We also get into babysitter etiquette (if you say “help yourself to anything,” do you actually mean anything?), and then unpack the viral Girl Scout story where one girl sold $450k worth of cookies… and where that money really goes.
We wrap with a Bicker of the Week, two Things We DMed Each Other (Olympics + Waymo obv), and a parenting takeaway that stuck with us all week: tell kids what TO do, not just what NOT to do.
LOVE YOU GUYS. Thanks for listening!!!
