In short
The episode is a Colorado “remote recording” catch-up where the hosts share family travel lessons, parenting confidence, and current pop-culture/tech takes. Topic highlights: traveling with kids is easier and more fun with friends who have children the same age; they describe meeting other parents naturally because kids play together; and they discuss “airport divorce” (splitting up at the airport to avoid couple fights) while arguing it’s mainly workable with kids and logistics.
Key claims
planning the next day the night before reduces morning conflict; “constant confidence” drives success (they cite a study about top performers doing better even across school tiers); and AI spending (Meta’s ~$2.4B/year on AI tokens) may be “fluff” until ROI is proven.
Notable examples
World Cup viewership hype (U.S. vs Belgium Monday); paper straws frustrating their toddler; and a birthday reflection exercise (“leave behind/take/pick up”).
Guests
no podcast guests; only hosts (Harrison and Jules) and a friend/family presence mentioned (e.g., Shannon, Neighbor T, Hannah Chody, Hallie Kate/Acquired Style) but not as interview guests.

34Welcome to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. Is this our first remote recording? Mountain edition. Mountain edition. We are Colorado. Is it Coloradians? You know me. I have no idea. Harrison, of course, has an iced coffee. And, you guys, he has his new leather notebook that he got from the farmer's market today. if you're on youtube he's showing you or on video made some notes for today's episode in here did you yeah what are we going to talk about we actually programmed on a hike this morning we took the two kiddos um okay what hold on let's do a little uh we just we've got a you know random human outside the door well that's it it's like a live viewer it's like a it's an irl there's no studio one day we'll do a live so if you if you can't see us we are in colorado right now we're in our airbnb which by the way our new thing is like the life hack with kids is airbnb which i'm burping i know harrison already said but i just want to say best thing ever and like our our airbnb is small like tate sleeps in the living room and we just like barricade it and make it dark right there yeah but like this thing it's amazing because we just like make breakfast here walk around no the the kitchen is is is huge the kitchen is huge the kitchen is not massive in size it is a huge thing to have good clarification exactly it's perfect it's absolutely perfect but it's funny because we're in an apartment complex i now see what you mean though with the people walking by they're just walking by attention the other day i was pumping while the guy was watering the flowers outside that was a moment so i i have a thing i don't know if it's like to call you out on or or to maybe ask your opinion of this was not in programming but this was a neighbor t and i um a neighbor t and i observation today okay what was it okay you can tell how good a friends two girls are by the tone of their voice when they run into each other oh me you have a tone of voice and it's funny enough it's always matched by the other person like when you'll see them oh my god how are you and i'm like oh like they they like have met one or two times well as opposed to if i see somebody i know really well and we're like hey what's up it's a very different tone of voice and and i was beside neighbor t when the interaction happened and i was like oh they barely know each other and he's like i know the voice yeah i know the voice i we've run into a lot of people here that i know um that we all know like but what i'm saying is i can tell by the tone of voice how well you know them yes because you ran into some people you know very well family friends yeah uh people you went to college with versus on the other end you ran into people that you've met once or twice yeah of course you're gonna have different um i don't think guys have different tones i think that we're very like hey how's it going oh yeah girls do have different greeting tones.
40I guess this is a really good point. Very upsetting that we can't. So Jules is listening, but she doesn't have a mic. Uh, so we can't get her opinion on this, which is heartbreaking. Yeah. Jules is on FaceTime watching the computer, making sure that our audio is recording. Um, one thing that I want to say, okay, I want to discuss off the top. Number one, if you're listening, can I just put an, uh, like a rounded out, put a pin in the Airbnb thought, A bow. A bow, thank you. Like, I'd never loved the use case of Airbnbs pre-kids. I felt like the only time I'd ever do them was on bachelor parties.
18And even in that scenario, I'd generally rather just stay at a hotel. Huge hotel guy. Still love hotels. But grand new appreciation for Airbnb around family travel. I get it. I get it. Yeah, me too. But I did see during the World Cup and currently, I guess, a lot of people were mad at Airbnb because they were spiking the prices. But that's not Airbnb's choice. I know. But hotel wasn't spiking the prices. And so I was seeing people making TikToks just being like, we're going to go back to hotels. Like if they're cheaper, we're just going to go there. It used to be said at Airbnbs because they were cheaper.
52But guys, if you're going to drive the price of your Airbnbs up just because the World Cup's in your city, we're just going to go stay at a hotel. But that's driven by hosts versus hotels, which I'm sure have more of a dynamic pricing. I just thought it was interesting. Speaking of the World Cup, the United States moves on to another round. Yes. So the Bosnia-U.S. game received, I believe it was 30 million, 33 million peak viewers. Wow. Versus the NBA Finals, which I believe were 22 million. But you're saying that's... The numbers are definitely directionally right, but wrong in terms of the specifics.
32But that's just America's numbers. That's America's numbers, yes. U.S. viewership. Because in general, the World Cup is like blowing the NBA finals, I would assume, viewership out of the water. The first watch, I haven't seen the latest ratings, but the first match, I believe, was 1.2 billion global views. That's hilarious. That was South Korea, Mexico. So that is, I mean, that just tells you how big it is. Okay, so now, but I would say this, especially the vibe in this town was like the World Cup has arrived. People care. Every single bar, every single bar was full. Jam-packed. Every single bar was full.
11It was unbelievable. When the U.S. scored like USA, USA chants all over, the fever is alive and we're in full swing. I'm really into it. Full World Cup fever right now. What's going to suck those if we lose? Then it's just like over. We got a good matchup against Belgium. Coming next? What day? Coming next? Monday. Monday. I believe 6 p.m. Okay, great. So we got Monday plans. But Google knows better. Got Monday plans. Well, we land at 5 and I believe the game's at 6. Okay, wow.
41Two Parents & A Podcast:Yeah. Okay, great. So did I already say subscribe? Nope. Okay, so subscribe if you're listening. Thank you for listening. Happy Monday. I hope you guys had a great 4th of July. We're back. in action we never left action what i don't really know why well we did because we did the two pre-recorded shows we did the our relationship history in the q a and now we're getting back in the mix now we're back into irl zone the only thing we're not doing is typically we record episodes the morning of but this is obviously just you know friday and this comes out monday so we're recording it in colorado um we've been having a blast we're not going to talk too much about it because like we were programming this morning and we're like all right what do we want to discuss programming means we were talking about what we're going to discuss on the podcast and like it this it's not that interesting like we're having the best time traveling with friends is so much fun the kids are have like we are having a blast but like not a lot else to cover well but i do want to dive into how how much fun it is and how amazing it is traveling with friends who have kids the same age as your kids especially when your kids know those kids yeah because what I will say is I don't think I've seen Tate have more fun than she's had over the past few days because she's in a new place experiencing all these things, outdoor things that she loves, and she's doing it with her people, with these familiar faces.
07And it started on the plane. Like when we got to the airport and she saw Wawa and she saw Liv and neighbor T and Shannon and extended families like it was the joy on her face she couldn't believe everyone she was over the top and that's carried through so uh that to me has been the biggest takeaway is like if you can plan a trip with friends and those friends have the same uh kids the same age as you like so much fun so the other thing is there are so many kids here right now and what's been fun is like we talked i I know we talked a couple episodes ago about making friends as like parents. When you go to the parks here, one thing that is so much fun is your kids play with other kids.
56So then you naturally start talking to the other parents. And you're not, it's different from going to the park in Austin because then you either know them, you see them a lot. Like at that point, it's kind of rinse and repeat. But here when you see people, like we met a bunch of people from Dallas last night at the park. And I was saying to Harrison, if they were seated beside us at a restaurant, I would have never been like, hey, where are you guys from? But our kids start playing together at the parks. We're like, hey, where are you guys from? They're like Dallas. I feel like that is like summertime vacation mindset, whether that you're doing that in a mountain town or you're doing that, you know, off the lake in Michigan.
32But that's what I'm saying. Doing it somewhere that's not your home is really fun with kids to meet parents that way. Here's something I didn't know until recently. One in three Americans think they're sensitive to gluten, but actually only about 1 % have celiac disease. For everyone else, it might be something else in those foods called FODMAPs, you guys. And going gluten-free doesn't always help. FODZYME is a tasteless powder you sprinkle right into your food and it helps break down FODMAPs, the hard-to-digest components in food that can cause bloating, gas, and pain before they cause discomfort.
06Fodzyme makes digestion easier so you can eat more of what you love. Think of it like lactate, but for garlic, onions, wheat, beans, cheese, and other common foods with Fodmaps. We're so excited to partner with Fodzymes and offer you 30 % off your first order when you go to Icaneatagain.com slash twoparents. That's Icaneatagain.com slash twoparents for 30 % off your first order. Finally, you can enjoy your favorite foods without the pain. Just go to Icaneatagain.com slash twoparents. So, all right, that's kind of like we're hiking. I don't know. We're having a blast. We're doing dinners. We're going to the park for dinner.
43We're grilling out. We're cooking at home. So it's been good. Yeah, you know, I was a big, this isn't from the notes, but I was wondering where we were going to go next. And then something popped into my head to that. I was a huge, um, what's it called? I carry the kid in the, uh, carrier in the carrier. Sure. I was a huge carrier guy. I bought for Tate for Tate. And now Rocky and I are starting to use the carrier, which is a lot of fun. He loves it. I bought the hiking backpack for the trip. I'm not sold. Well, it's hard on your back, it appears. The weight distribution, like you really only have an hour in it.
19I thought the weight distribution would be a little better. Maybe I should have used it, you know, six, eight months ago. but it like I was hoping to hike to the top of the mountain with her on it and it's gonna be a no. Yeah, because it's too heavy. It's gonna be a no. Yeah. How much does Tay weigh? Do we know? I think 30 pounds directionally. That's a lot on your back. It's not a lot on your back if she's just doing a piggyback. I think my weighted vest is 25 pounds. Oh, so you've been training for this moment your whole life. And I would have no problem doing the Ute hike in my way to the vest.
58I wish I was doing it in my way to the vest. So it's just because she's hanging off your back. The weight distribution of it is, it's not as comfortable as I'd hoped. The way I could wear her, funny enough, I put Tate on my chest yesterday just to try it out in the carrier, and I barely noticed her there. You put her in the front, on the back. And she actually loved it, because she saw Rocky and I doing it, so she wanted to start doing it.
23Two Parents & A Podcast:I wanted to go back in the carrier. Yeah, so I thought I would love, I was getting ready to come on here, be like my new go-to device for parenting is the child backpack. Nope. And we'll put a picture up of it in case it's not clear what I'm talking about. The other thing we've got to talk about in Colorado, love Texas, love Texas, a bunch of different reasons. One reason I didn't realize how much I love Texas, but I relearned at lunch today. They still use paper straws here. I had a plastic straw at that place yesterday with Tate. Really? Yeah, I got her a smoothie. That's why I said they don't have the black straws.
02Because Bubba had to use a plastic straw or a paper straw for a smoothie today. And I haven't seen her get more frustrated around a situation in a very long time. Like amazing for six sips and then it cratered in on her and she could not figure it out. Didn't want a new one. And it was, yeah, it reminded me of my San Francisco days and the ridiculousness of that paper straw era. And I'm all for, you know, if we want to get rid of plastic and do something different, I'm all for it. It just has to work. It can't be disintegrating in my mouth. Totally. I love a glass straw. I'm good with that. But restaurants aren't going to give you a glass straw.
42So I've had a lot of plastic straws here, though. That's the first paper one I've seen. And, like, that girl, she could not figure it out because I can't figure it out. Yeah. I don't blame her. Okay. So let's move on to things we DM'd. Okay. You want to talk about your birthday? I had the best birthday. We had my best friends were here. Ten people total. Ten people total. For the festivities. Went around, got some sunglasses. Do you guys want to see them? They're right here. I'm in the market. My one thing I wanted to give myself for my birthday was sunglasses, and I did it. Here they are. they're um a purple and yellow sort of aviator situation so I'm very excited about those they're they've really had a rough go though because Tate found them I keep trying to keep them away from her but she gets her hands really greasy and she's really getting on the lens so I this is what this is my new sunglass thing so our friend Hannah Chody did a video about her getting her color analysis done and then her doing the correct sunglasses for her color hue.
47Hannah is, some of you guys might follow her. She's blonde, tan. Like I think her and I are similarly colored, but we're not the exact same color. So anyways, just from watching her, I learned some sunglass cut. Like I don't want to go so stark black on all my sunglasses. So what I did this trip was I I bought these. These are yellow and purple. And then I bought a pair of like really tan ones, which was interesting because on this color analysis, they would put a color here and they'd be like, it brings out the bags in your eyes. Or this makes your eyes pop. So it's very fascinating to see these color analysis.
24I haven't done it yet. I had chat do mine. They said I was a light spring. So anyways, I got new sunglasses. It was my birthday present to myself. We're still searching for Harrison's birthday present to me. There was a great birthday mindset that you shared with me on a hike this morning. that I think the listenership would appreciate. Okay, tell us. I don't remember. How to assess where you're at or... Oh, your mom said it to me. She said you should be proud of where you are and who you're with. But there was like a zinger before that. If you want to get a feel for where you're at in life today, look at who you spend your birth...
00where you're spending your birthday and who you're spending it with. Yeah, and you don't have to travel for your birthday by any means. My birthday is easy to travel for because it's always tacked on to the fourth. But a great example being like my birthday in Austin, a city we love surrounded by people that we love, that checked the box on those. When I look back at that March 12th date, very happy with the place, very happy with the people. Very happy with the place metaphorically as well, symbolically. I don't get it. Like where you're at. Oh, placement in life. A holistic view. Yes. You know, there's a couple words I think that people get from their spouses.
42You know, holistic is one I've gotten from you. Similarly. Similarly. Secondarily. Secondary. I don't know if that's a real word. That's a big one for you. This is one we'd normally call in Jules. And then you go second. What'd she say? She said directionally. Jules, directionally is, there's other ones. Here's why I got to stand by directionally. is because remembering the specific details can often be very hard, but you're often in the right ballpark of what you're saying, and you don't want the people you're talking to to nitpick what you're saying. It wasn't 33 million. It was 31 million. It was that ballpark of people.
27We're proving the point. If we're a couple points off, so be it. So you say that's directionally true. Yeah. People also love when Harrison says Allah. Ah, people also love when Harrison says Allah. Yes. Allah is, I haven't taken that one from you yet, but there's a lot of words. I'm trying to think of some more EBITDA. I don't know what it means. That's hilarious because that is, yeah, that's just very funny. But what does it mean? Earnings before interest, tax, and depreciation. Yeah, I'm always listening to, what is it, EBITDA? And amortization. Yeah, no idea what any of that means. But yeah, there's some, what words have you taken from me?
06A cement. What else? Oh, don't put me on the spot like this, please. Okay. I'll think of something. I'll think of more from you too. I'll think of something. Okay. So the, the things we DM that I wanted to discuss because we're back sort of flying again, you know, we've taken two trips and we were on a, as a hiatus, the right word, does that mean a pause? Yeah. We were on a flying hiatus, a flying pause for a while when we had rocket man. um that's what i call rocky by the way so i saw this dm that was airport divorce which means you go to the airport and a lot of couples fight at the airport so what people have started doing is like you go to the airport and the minute you get there you're single you're not married to your spouse you get through security on your own you go eat on your own and you meet back up at the gate to avoid the fight yes to avoid the fight because there's a lot of i guess a lot of people fight at the airport my question is when these people get on the plane are you sitting with your spouse of course okay because i there's nothing that there's nobody i want to sit by on the airplane except for you right back at you right back at you there is no denying the high stress dynamic of traveling with with kids okay so it it lands well i don't think you can do this with kids i think the key yeah you divide and conquer okay you divide and conquer okay i think that getting in a fight with your partner when it's just the two of you traveling i don't get that i agree like i don't like when i look at when we've had our like airport or travel tips it's never been just the two of us traveling it's always been when we've had either tater both of them because like there's so many more logistics to handle yeah traveling the two of you is a vacation i now realize i could do that in stride yeah we haven't done that have we done that but they've been born just the two of us no not yet we haven't left him um but what i wanted to go with that we unintentionally did before this trip is the night before we game planed the morning and i presented we had an early morning flight and what i didn't want to be doing was getting these like back and forth at 6 30 a.m about like how we're dealing with the parking scenario at the airport and how we're dealing with a bag drop off and security.
28And so I presented my plan for the morning and night before. And I said, Hey, here is how I think we should do things tomorrow. How does this sound to you? If there's anything you disagree with, then let's come up with the updated game plan now and not do it, uh, at six ish in the morning at directionally six. One thing that's still true for me is that when life gets busy as a parent, eating well is usually the first thing that slips. I don't necessarily have trouble finding healthy food. I just don't always have time or energy to figure out what to make or to grocery shop every week. That's why I've stuck with Hungry Root, you guys.
07One thing I've loved lately about Hungry Root is it's been introducing me to new high-protein snacks and easy lunch options that I probably would never have picked up on my own because you guys know how I eat and it's very simple. I end up finding new favorites and they become part of my regular order. And that's why I really love Hungry Root because it has lasted for me because it offers so many new options. And the more personalized it gets, the more I actually like it. And it helps me with my goals, especially breastfeeding you guys, because it recommends groceries that are high protein. And with over a thousand grocery items to choose from, it never feels repetitive.
44And I know I'm getting high quality ingredients without a bunch of unnecessary additives. And that's something that's very important to us, you guys. and at this point I barely have to think about grocery shopping anymore you guys are going to love Hungry Root too just as much as we do so for a limited time get 40 % off your first order plus get a free item in every box for life go to HungryRoot.com slash two parents and use code two parents that's HungryRoot.com slash two parents code two parents to get 40 % off your first box and a free item of your choice for life but it was a really good idea because one thing about me at the airport is there a lot of there's a lot of can i just walk through what we did well hold on there's a lot of times in life where i have a lot of opinions okay the airport's not one of them especially being postpartum right now i i have some areas where i just want to zonk out like if harrison says what do you want to do for dinner i don't want to pick i want you to pick at the airport i see girls make these videos and it's just like la di da di da and they're just blindly following their partner that's all i want to do yes but where I need to like push back on that.
47Push back. That's, that's the largest word I've taken from you. Is the, the game plan we had was I was going to pull up, take the bags out, do the curbside checkout. And then you were going to go through security with Rocky. I was going to go park the car with Tate and then go through security with Tate and meet you and meet you after. So we were going to separate. And I thought you may have a problem with us separating in the airport so that's what I didn't want to do is have us be there early in the morning and having come up this plan make okay I'm gonna go drop the car off and you'd be like no you're not right but I was good but you asked me you said okay this is what I'm thinking are you good with that I was like I'm great with that okay look at that so so what's the the the is there a something that we haven't discussed on the airport divorce well it's just a funny topic area and not so much a topic so I'm not for the airport divorce because my nightmare would be going without you.
42Not because... But you just went without me and is it not smoother to divide and conquer at the airport where one parent goes with one kid and one parent goes with the other kid? Yeah, that was a lot smoother. You're correct in that. And we met up on the other side of security. So yeah, that was actually great. You're right. You're right. But then from there, I like to sit by you guys because otherwise I find it gets a little lonely for me. Okay, well... I also find it's easier to hand you Rocky and then me take Tate And then you take Tate and then I take Rocky. And we just kind of like shift around like that.
14But you know what? You are correct. Through security, it was a lot easier just having one in one. Yeah. No doubt. Okay. Now, there was something that you sent about Meta. Oh, so this is interesting. And so I think it's something like this statistic directionally. was Meta is spending, call it$2.4 billion a year on AI tokens. What's a token? So when you sign up for ChatGPT or Claude or whatever, your plan, you'll subscribe to a monthly plan and you'll get a certain amount of tokens that you get to use. So every search you run uses a certain amount of tokens. And the more tokens you use, the more you get charged.
06Okay. So the kind of deeper dive analysis on that is that's the equivalent of 9 ,000 full-time engineers. Okay. And so I think the general math there would be like 300. If you're paying an engineer$300 ,000 a year, you get 9 ,000 of them. That's the two plus billion dollars of expense. And so the question becomes, with Facebook taking on this increased spend, have they shipped anything that is reflective of the work that 9 ,000 engineers would have done? And what's your answer? Does that make sense? Yes, I understand the question. I don't have enough info to know if they have. I don't think so.
49Nothing groundbreaking has happened. As a consumer, there's nothing that I'm seeing there. And it puts into question, while AI is incredibly, while it can do a lot of interesting things, we're still very much in the phase of proving out the return on investment of all of this token usage. And so are we using AI to actually implement things that drive increased cost savings? Or is it a bunch of fluff, for lack of a better word? Okay. So do jury still out? We don't directionally know. There's no doubt that the usefulness of AI, I think the question is how much more effective is it if you just had true people doing it given the cost?
44Got it. Thank you. That's the question that's starting to come out. Now we're cooking with kerosene. Have you heard of that? No, I have not. Playing with house money. These are called what are those called? Eula liquids? Eugenisms? No. Definitely not. Two idiots in a pod right now. What are those called?
08something with a q or like a jules do you know what those are called
16like a ukulele ah it's gonna drive me crazy and i know the if the listener knows then they're gonna know um okay so the question is basically is ai replacing humans no it is like facebook is spending meta spending two plus billion dollars a year today that they weren't spending five years ago the question is would that two plus billion dollars be better spent on hiring 9 000 more engineers or on uh on all this ai and token usage that that and And when you look at it from that lens, it's a much more interesting question. And this is what people should comment today. That's what they should comment.
08You should let us know what you guys think. Do you have a thought? Do you have an answer on this? To me, I need to see more. Jury's still out. I'm a little unclear. I will say this. AI's doing some pretty cool stuff pretty quickly. I'm impressed. I'm impressed. Yeah, obviously, I'm a big user of AI. Just, I love to always show the other side of things. Well, I think that's what we should do. And I think that people should comment and let us know. Okay. What do we have from here? Why don't we? What is it? Colloquial. Colloquial. Colloquialism. That's what it is. I was trying to get that look. The colloquialism.
46We were at lunch and Shannon was like, I'm really bad at colloquialisms. And we were like, what does that word mean? And it's things like playing with house money, which that means house money is not real money. It's on the house, right? At a casino. You're playing with their money. Yes. Okay, cool. So let's discuss the birthday questions that we did. I'm going to just circle back to birthday really quick because I thought these were really good. And one of my friends asked me these questions. And I think it's really fun to do on your birthday. Um, so what are you leaving behind? What are you taking with you and what are you picking up?
30So what are you leaving behind? Um, that could be an example of, I'm leaving behind a bad attitude. I don't know. What are you taking with you? I'm taking with you. Um, and it's not obvious things like your family, X, Y, Z, but what are you taking with you? The new working, like the new, the three episodes, writing the sub stack, like hard work. Okay. Yeah, I think if you're going to do this, you've got to give concrete answers. Well, I have forgotten what I left behind. Okay. So if you could help me there. What I'm taking with me is what I was taking with me. I think that you, what you said that you were leaving behind was people that suck the wind out of your...
12Sales. Out of your sales. Yeah. Like I, it happens the older I get and I don't even really like to talk about it because it feels negative. But I more so like to do this with my actions. of just, you know, if we're not, if you're not up, I have so many, okay, I used to always say I have, you know, so many seats at my table. I'll fill them. I want everyone to eat but not always at my table, right? But if you think about my table. I think that was a Tupac line, by the way. Was it? Yeah. I saw this guy the other day. It was just this white guy and he was dancing on Instagram and like the most liked comment was like close enough welcome back Tupac yeah I just I haven't stopped laughing since then um yeah but on the friend thing so at my table my seats right now I'm really good with them I have some friends in life that are pushing me not pushing me but But they're doing really cool stuff, and that makes you want to do cool stuff.
22Austin, to me in general, there's a lot of entrepreneurs there. I ran into – I think you'd be okay with me saying his name. Okay, I won't say his name. But I ran into a Barry's instructor who was launching a protein powder, and I think it actually launched last week, which is why he's probably okay with me saying it. But he was shipping a bunch of stuff. I said, what are you doing? And he said, I'm launching a protein powder. I said, good for you. And he was like, yeah, it's contagious in this town. I was like, it sure is. Like who you surround yourself with really is so important. And so what I love about my friends at this, the ripe age of 33 now is the seats at my table, you included, my dear, really hold me accountable.
Read the full transcript
03They're really good moms. They're all of, most of my mom friends, they work. They don't have, it doesn't have to. I want good people. You know, um, I have some mom friends. I'm thinking about Caitlin and Lexi right now. I was talking to them. Like we do charity stuff together. I love giving back with them. Um, and so, yeah, if, if you don't do one of those things for me, I'm not, we're not going to be mean to you at all. Of course, of course we're not going to mean to you, but it's just like, we're, that's not where I'm going to spend my time because the older I get and now that we have kids where I spend my time is really important to me and who I give my time to.
40And so I want it to be people that are uplifting, challenging, um, and they make me want to be a better person and it's so if they don't do that then no and if you gossip I really I really hate gossip more the older I get okay very nice 89 % of dog parents consider their dog their best friend in the world and 31 % would even let their pups use their own fork and eat off of it safe to say people are obsessed and if anyone gets being dog obsessed you guys it's Ollie they're relentless about delivering the best food and experience for you and your dog and They give you a way to check in on their health over and over and over again.

What about the second thing? Leaving behind, taking with me was this kind of, I'm enjoying work right now a lot.
28I don't even think, you know, love what you do. You never work a day in your life. I'm really loving the sub stack. I'm loving the pace of which I'm working. also getting to be a mom. I'm really enjoying that. What did I pick up? I feel like what ended up happening at the... We didn't do pick up. Yeah. Yes, everyone... Everyone was going around and reflecting on what you said and... Okay, let's pick up something. Let's do it. Okay, help me here. Oh, do you know what it is? Hello. Constant confidence. Okay. So sometimes, I think everyone can do this. You can get a little in your own head. I'm trying to get rid of that.
11I'm trying to ask myself, number one, what's wrong? Is something wrong? No. Is that in your head? Probably. Does confidence solve it? Yeah, most of the time it does. Um, when I talk to people, sometimes I find if I see somebody, I know I'll get a little like in a shell. It's like, you're just constantly confident. You just go talk to people. You go move about life with confidence and, and, and, and humility and all in kindness but the confidence element so i want to go like i'm really proud of who we are and so it's like you can just go anywhere and do that and hold your head up high yeah no it and know who you are it makes a lot of sense kind of surprising here because i feel like you do have great confidence i do but i'm working on i'm working on constant constant confidence okay no that that feels like more so hold on one more layer with the constant confidence is like I always say how you do anything is how you do everything like that I'm talking that type come correct to the situation here like you're 33 um yeah no it's amazing it's amazing the power that confidence drives in in success and I was actually just looking at a study and what the study looked at is the study looked at um basically your class you would look at your the school you went to and your class ranking.
31Okay. And, uh, what it would see is the people at the top of the class would always do the best, even if you went to a worse school. So if you look at like a top performer at an Ivy league school and a top performer at a third tier school, the top performer at the third tier school in, uh, there's their success is often good. greater than the lowest performer at the Ivy League school. And the driver of that is, that they would point to is like, is confidence. Or that was, you know, what was drawn out of the study. I didn't know you were going to talk about this, so I don't have the detailed specifics on it.
19But does that what I said just make sense? Yeah, because I've seen something similar to it where it's really important with kids, right? Like if you tell somebody they get a C in math, they're not going to think they're very good at it. Like, did somebody just knock on the door? Yeah, we can keep going. I don't see them. On our door?
36Two Parents & A Podcast:Yeah. Oh, I think it must have been her knocking on that door beside. Someone is delivering a cake. So if you tell people in general, oh, your child, it's why they say let your kids overhear you talking about them. So if Tate was 10 and you and I were in here having a conversation with someone, quote unquote, maybe it was no one. Like our daughter, she is so good at reading. she loves to go to people and say hi she's really good at math like that would affect her confidence yeah it's actually one of my favorite parenting hacks i love hearing is let your kids hear you talk positively about them yeah um and the same thing applies like if you tell somebody that they were top 10 in their class okay that's just going to give you confidence yeah so i really understand what you're saying yes and i think it's cool where to from here well we can go anywhere i really did want to keep this episode a bit short but there i i was fascinated with okay so right now what we're watching develop is taylor swift's wedding very fascinating but the other thing is did you see the couple but we can't talk too much about it because by the time that's what i'm saying we're not going to this comes out i'm just saying happen i'm just saying we are watching okay i'm letting everyone here's the msg prediction was correct but we'll see because this is coming out monday um and you guys can comment about taylor if you want to tell us if you liked her wedding dress or not do you know the influencer Hallie Kate no so acquired style she got married and Hallie Kate both got married this past week okay I love them both I think they are adorable I really like their content two very different wedding dresses two 10 out of 10s are they friends they are friends and they did Hallie did did a civil courthouse um in the Hamptons like That was her thing from the beginning.
25It's like, I'm not doing a massive wedding. It's just going to be me and him. We're going to go. I'll have a reception of 50 people at my house afterwards. And Acquired Style is going to have a wedding. But what she did, which was cool, was... This is directionally correct. It's what matters. They were in Europe where they met, maybe? And they did like... Where, Jules? They were at their college. And they did a bunch of ceremony. Oh, that's cool. Because she's Catholic. Okay, so they went back to their college and did a religious ceremony and got formally married. But she's still having a wedding that we haven't seen yet.
02So I thought that unique and really cool. And the girls looked beautiful. And I'm very happy for them both. But anyways, also we had an engagement, which was two people climbed up to the top of the Empire State Building. Did you see this? Yes. And then he proposed after they hung the flag. Okay. Then they got arrested. Okay. But she had scheduled an Instagram post. So I went and found her Instagram. And she does stunts. She's a stunt girl. She has like 1.8 million followers maybe. So she was like, I'm unavailable right now because she's in jail. So I've scheduled this post, if you're seeing it post now.
39And it was cool. I got to the post three hours after it posted. That's really fun. So what happened was a couple climbed to the top of, and they got charged with a lot. Burglary, trespassing. it's a very big problem to climb buildings without permission yeah it's because like if they if obviously like you don't want them to fall but if they fall and in those crowded areas change they're going to fall on someone and they're going to take someone else's life like you can't have people just free will climbing big big ass buildings i completely know for me did you ever know have you ever heard this stat i think about it often oh i hate it there's a certain height We could drop a penny.
21Yes, it goes through their head and it kills them. Yeah. Makes me want to throw up. Of course. Jules, what else do we have on the docket? We don't have our phones on us, so. Could you check the computer one more time? Yep. Because that just came up. We're going to check the computer one more time. The other thing that I am seeking to hear from you, because it came out 20 minutes after we recorded last Sunday, is that Amanda is not recording the summer house. Yes, okay, this is correct. Jules is seeking to hear from us because it came out 20 minutes after we recorded on Monday, is that Amanda is not rejoining Summer House.
57Did you see this? Yeah, I thought this was expected. I thought this was expected. What? How can you have her going back and him not going back? Okay, okay. And she couldn't, you know, and I learned a lot more about this from my kind of past season catch up. she talks a lot about her mental health struggles she she like it would not be fair to her to have her in that house without him where there's just like eight people who are so mad at her and and you know would be inherently negative if not just straight mean to her like in what world could that have existed uh one world one world and that is the reality tv world bravo i guess what people want to see like okay where they said it in the reunion are we morally bankrupt well kind of sometimes for the plot you do have to put these people all in the same house like that's why people watch reality tv am i saying from for sierra's sake and mental health and doing the right thing do i think they should be kicked off the show of course i do but i also understand doing things for the plot, for the sake of the show.
12And the best show is having them on it. I think that they push the limits in having Carl and Lindsay in the house a year after the engagement when she was pregnant. I just saw Carl on Lindsay or Lindsay on Carl's back this past weekend. The fact they did that, I think it's a bigger ask to be in a house with the person that you were engaged to a year beforehand who is now pregnant than it is the person than it is the whole Amanda West situation. Well, so that's a divorce and then dating best friends. Yeah. Great thing for people to weigh in on. That's a great thing. Okay. Which one is worse? What Lindsay had to go through with Carl in the house being pregnant after they called off the engagement?
05or the Kyle Amanda. And he was like celebrating her like baby shower. He had to do like the gender reveal with her. You like had to wear a pink t-shirt. It was a lot. And did he still love her? Or do we not have clarity on that? I think my read on the situation was very much like he had moved on in a meaningful way. And he was doing it to be supportive and closure. And I think that he was really, and this is because I wasn't following it live. I had to read between the lines that I think he got taken to the woodshed on the, on the, from the public on how the breakup went down. And so I think he was very scared that his actions would lead to more backlash for him.
53So he was operating out of fear. I think I got the sense he was operating out of fear. So funny because from that, he also had moved on. but I do it so like I I just started watching it you know loosely this time this season Pat this past season with you I think you only watched the reunion just so we're hilariously clear I don't think you watch an episode I didn't watch it I'm watching the city I guess is what it is but what I gathered no I watched a couple episodes with you because I I remember seeing um oh I think he's sober right does Carl not drink yeah he's sober yeah somehow yeah so I saw some of these episodes and I would have never guessed that about Lindsay and Carl being engaged at all ever I thought that they were fine so it's funny it's very it's funny to watch it back or to hear it back now because I saw a photo this weekend they went to some launch party and there was a photo of Lindsay on Carl's back and the caption was the world is healing and I guess that must be a nod to that that's great they were long time friends before then too and so it's good to see them back on track well the other thing I think is really the cast is real friends.
59So I think their friend group has been fractured and they really want some continuity and some bonding right now. Totally. And they're getting that. Is there a chance Lindsay and Carl ever get back together? I think that ship has sailed. Okay. Based off all I've seen. Okay. I wonder if everybody else agrees with that or not. I always see people in the comments saying, I hope you two get back, I guess back together, but get together. There's still hope. Things like that. Jules, what else?
31oh i thought that was a wild question to ask you today did i i i think i overheard the question and i was like did you just ask that so we were at a coffee shop and we were with rocking it was alex and me rocking tate and a girl comes up to alex and is like how oh my god how old is he and And Alex is like two and a half months old. And her response was, did you carry? Did you carry him? Yeah. What? I just laughed and said yes. I guess we haven't had a chance to talk about that. Is that an inappropriate question to ask a stranger on the street? Yeah. I think that it's tough because she meant it.
17Okay. So some people can't carry kids. and that's a very emotional question i think to ask somebody and so it could have been very triggering for me like what if you didn't carry is that what you just want to be talking about to like a true like random person beside you right yeah no i i do think that that's a crazy i think that's an invasive question yeah okay yeah i really thought i heard it You got to keep your mic right here. Corner of my eye, but corner of my ear. Yeah, I haven't really thought about it. But yeah, that's a why. I mean, I would never ask, like never ask somebody that. But I assume she meant no harm by it.
01Okay, guys, we're going to wrap it here. Happy Monday back to work after what I hope was a very fun 4th of July for everybody. We love you guys. We're back in Austin now. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Monday (and welcome back from a holiday weekend)!!! We recorded our first ever remote MOUNTAIN edition from COLORADO 🏔️ We just wrapped up our first family trip with friends (5 other couples + 10 kids under 4!!) and all we can say is: if you can plan a trip with friends who have kids the same age as yours… DO IT.
After two more structured episodes (our stories + a Q&A - check them out if you haven't!!), we had to have a bit of a chaos episode, starting with an "H-bomb" (lol): the "girl theory" that Harrison would like to bring to the attention of the class… you can TOTALLY tell how well 2 girls know each other by the tone of their "hi"?!
From there: why Airbnbs are the ULTIMATE family travel life hack, World Cup fever has OFFICIALLY hit America (we are so excited for 7pm tonight!!), Harrison's honest review of the toddler hiking backpack (spoiler: not making it up the mountain lol), Tate's first experience with a paper straw (it was a no from her), Alex's birthday recap + a really lovely mindset from Harrison’s mom on how to assess where you're at in life on your birthday, 3 birthday questions Alex's friend asked her, and Harrison's fascinating take on why CONFIDENCE might just be the ultimate secret to success (with a cool parenting takeaway too!).
Then we get into the topics that have been ALL over social media: would you do an "airport divorce" to avoid fighting with your spouse while traveling?! (spoiler: we would not with ONE exception), Meta spending $2.4 BILLION a year on AI (equivalent of 9,000 engineers!!), the couple that got engaged on top of the Empire State Building AND got arrested?!, and Amanda is officially NOT rejoining Summer House (?????). And finally, a question the audience needs to weigh in on: is "did you carry him?" a socially acceptable question to ask a mom 2 months postpartum?!
LOVE YOU GUYS!
