Remember, like this video and subscribe to this page so you don't miss episodes dropping every Monday and Thursday. Okay, ready? Okay, yes. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. Hello. How's your vibe today on this Monday? It's good, it's very relaxed.
1:24Why is it so relaxed? It's odd, Harrison had a... How did I wait? Him and Bub spent about four hours awake last night together bonding. Just got a good week ahead. Yeah? Yeah. Feeling dialed in. What we did last night was so good. Harrison wanted, and this is what happens. This happens about every Sunday. Around 11 a.m. he's like, let's invite people over for dinner. Let's do something fun. And then I don't do that. I've learned I'm not going to invite people over for dinner. I've never been so happy when you said, I was like, let's invite people over. You're like, oh, I'll text X. and then two hours went by.
1:58I was like, oh my goodness. Like, oh, we committed to social plans and I don't want to do them. And it was my idea. And I asked, I was like, so did you, what did they say? And you're like, I didn't text. I couldn't have been more happier. I know because I knew what you wanted to do last night. What you wanted to do last night was get the house ready for the week, eat a good dinner and go to bed early. Yeah. And I knew you wanted to do that, but I knew, because this has always been the running joke. You know, happy hour always used to sound fun around 10 or 11 a.m. Right? You start texting your friends, let's do something tonight.
2:31And then, you know, four o 'clock hits. And like all you want to do is go to bed. Yeah. Can I tell you something kind of funny that you don't know about me? Yeah. So when I lived in San Francisco on Sundays, like almost rain or shine, I would order Thai feasts. Okay? and I would always order green chicken curry with a side of shrimp pad thai. Wow. Okay? And so last night's craving, dinner craving, was like on the back of that and that's why I made green chicken curry. We did. We had chicken curry last night. It was so good. You did a phenomenal job cooking it. Thank you. We're at the phase with the neighbors where we just went to the store and bought groceries and went over to their house and cooked it.
3:21And that doesn't count as being social, by the way. Well, we got very – they weren't supposed to be in town. So the initial game plan was – I was like, oh, amazing. We'll have just like – what do you want to call it? A village dinner? Yeah. We'll have a village dinner. They said they weren't going to be in town. And so – and what I love about it is just like kind of – it's like brainless, if that's the right word. Yeah. Like you can just sit there and not like worry about small talk and you really just like your comfort level. It doesn't matter what you're wearing. It doesn't matter if the food is undercooked, if the food is like not cooked.
3:55It does matter. It doesn't matter if the chicken is undercooked. It does matter. But like you know what I mean. No, it's the frame. Like I tried kelp noodles last night. Yeah. And like I'm not going to try kelp noodles in a setting that I'm not super comfortable in. Well, I think it's – Kelp noodles are very good. It goes to say very crunchy. Kelp noodles are very crunchy. They were delicious. It just goes to say it's like when you first go to college, I remember for the first six months, I was like it's really hard because I don't have my best friends yet and your best friends are the people you can sit and eat in silence with.
4:24Like I always had my friend Sydney who like we could just sit there and eat and like I don't have to talk to her. And I can do that with you. Totally. I love the friend you can sit and eat in silence with because that's true comfortability. Totally. Okay. This episode let's see. We're going to talk about our night last night. We're going to talk about some things in the comments. We're going to talk about lots of fun things. But before we do that two things. Number one, subscribe. Please. Send it to a friend. Pretty please, our dearest listeners. Number two, Jules is 30. Yay. Yay, Jules. Yay. 30.
4:58I can't believe you just doxed Jules' age. Oh, I don't care. Are we okay with that? Yeah, because 30 is young. 29 is older than 30. I completely agree. Wow. Completely agree. 31, what's 31? I mean, we're good until I hit 35. Sorry, 35. well i actually go based off of my function um health age bio age you're like 17 what's your 22 uh i think i'm 26 26 no 24 i go off of my spotify age oh i'm like 14 you're 16 i don't have spotify oh i was 22 which i was really proud of yeah i was like 21 or 22 or something i think you're like 28 well okay what's what's it called the bot i want to get it right because it's amazing and i want to i want to stay true to function yeah he i think he's looking for i'm looking for the name of my correct age i think it's bio age biological age yeah yeah bio age um kind of looks like my biological age went up a little bit i don't think that's possible unless you had a birthday which you haven't had yet yours is on thursday okay but let's not take this moment away from jules how's the birthday how's the birthday Jules and Ginny in New York City.
6:15Ginny didn't come. Whoa. She was supposed to come. Why didn't she end up coming? That's Jules' dog. Because they raised the prices of the dog tickets. How much are they? They're$300 round trip now. They're trying to get dogs off the airplane. It used to be$200. And just like on principle, I didn't want to bring her when someone could watch her. Who watched her? Alex and Coop. Okay. So how was New York? It was great. We saw a show. What did you see? We saw chess. Do you guys know Lea Michele from Glee? No. She's the main character from Glee. She's big on Broadway, but it's the show that she's starring in.
6:53Was Zac Bryan in Zac Efron and Glee? No, that was High School Musical. Okay. And The Greatest Showman. That was Zac Efron. Yeah, he was in both of those. Big musical guy. Saw a show. That was great. Did a big dinner. That was great. my my the friend group my my group text surprised me that was great and how'd they surprise you um they showed up at zoe's apartment but um anna had texted and said that she had sent us a treat and that there was a delivery coming oh that's a good idea but i now have a surprise pro tip because it's the one thing that threw me off when i kind of got some wind that they were coming we'd Love a surprise tip.
7:35Yeah, tell us. Love all tips. Well, P was saying this could be bad. She switched her location to her iPad. And so therefore she was in her apartment in Chicago all day when I was refreshing to see if she was coming. And I was like, she can't make it by the time we're supposed to hang out with our other friends at 8 p.m. I think it's genius. Yeah. Genius. I will say I get very confused by the whole find my location tracking thing. Like I don't know why it doesn't – something just – I feel like doing that I wouldn't execute well. You would like send a notification that's like Harrison switched to his iPad.
8:16Like we've been trying to set up find my iPhone. Well, that's different than location tracking. I don't know. I don't know. Great idea. Eileen, she turned her location off. That was a dead giveaway. See, that giveaway. I knew she was there. That's the giveaway. Yeah. Terrible giveaway. But no, it was great. It was awesome. And my friend Jane did a really good job planning everything. And where'd you go on your birthday dinner? We went to Korean Barbecue, a Korean barbecue place. Where? Coat? What? What's the name of the restaurant? Oh, I don't know. Was it C-O-T? No. It was in K-Town. I don't know where it was.
8:49Okay. What did you think of Korean Barbecue? It was great. It was so much food. like so much food so much meat first time yeah yeah Harrison loves cream I think cream barbecue is probably the most underrated eating experience that exists I think so too so much fun the food is amazing did you cook or did they have someone they're cooking for you they had someone they're cooking for us okay so that's probably like a hot debate I think I prefer cooking myself So for the listener who doesn't know what Korean barbecue is, it's similar to hibachi where you have an open – you have like a barbecue in front of you and you cook your own meat or they have someone from the restaurant cook it in front of you.
9:33And it is like – it is a ton typically of red meat. Yes. And so just like different cuts of – They're like thinly sliced and you like cook them. Is that what it is? Exactly. Okay. Exactly. Great sides of kimchi and rice and... Macaroni salad. Okay, that seems unique. I don't know. It was good. But there was 18 of us, so I don't think... Whoa. Holy smokes. Yeah. So there was three barbecues. And I don't think we could have cooked for ourselves if there was such a large group. Jules, this is so fun. What a good 30th. Yeah, it was very fun. It was great. For Korean barbecue, it's even good with two.
10:15I do a solo Korean barbecue. Why haven't we gone? But it's also perfect with 18. Because I've looked and I haven't found a good one in Austin. My friends apparently have a good one here. Really? I'll let you know. Oh, can you get the name of that? I would love to go. Yeah, it's just one of the finest eating experiences out there. Also, the food is amazing. And there's enough food. Yeah, that's the thing. It sounds like there's plenty. There's almost too much food. I think I was saved by the not drinking thing. if I was drinking and eating all that meat I don't know oh meat sweats yeah like I just but it was amazing sorry I'm not complaining about it no no no it sounds like it was really fun I'm glad that I'm glad that it sounds like it all went well sounds like it was a successful 30th it did good because you deserve a successful 30th thank you um okay so that's Jules's birthday everyone's subscribed so that's good those are my two things for my birthday for oh my gosh it's not for me today it's for jewels and there's nobody the listener loves more than jewels so i assume our subscriber numbers will skyrocket they will skyrocket after this one um okay before we talk about newport and we recap like just some we have some fun things to recap um i do want to talk about burger talk because harrison and i are both on it have you guys seen the ceos eating the burgers no he has what i'm obsessed this is like a great internet moment this i think will be like a 2026 internet moment oh i haven't been on my phone that much okay good jules's screen time is low today yes so basically the mcdonald ceo started it off because he was trying their new arch burger yep and he's like okay i'm gonna eat this new burger wow what do we have here a sesame bun double patties like it's like his first day at the office and nibbled it then he goes hold on Sorry, I jumped ahead.
12:09Then he goes, this is the part that gets everybody. He goes to take a bite of it. And he's like, and then they don't even show him swallowing it. And everyone's like, their food is that bad. Even the CEO doesn't like McDonald's food. So the best response to the chat to me was Burger King immediately. Yeah. Well, a couple of other things that I just want to add about the video, which you need to watch the video, is he even like hedged and made a comment at the beginning. He was like, and don't worry, I'm going to eat all of it for lunch later. I was like, wait, what? Like before he even took the bite.
12:48And yeah, sorry, please go. So like the parody accounts are like, the best parody one I saw was a girl being like, okay, she's impersonating the McDonald's CEO. And she's like taking the fries, not actually eating them though, just like putting them beside her face. and then she goes to take a bite of the burger and then like throws up off screen. So like it's, McDonald's has since deleted the video. You were talking about Burger King. Hold on, but I just want to say McDonald's took the video down. I mean, it probably had 45 million views. Oh my God. So the McDonald's CEO, Tom or Tim? Tom. Maybe.
13:24He's doing such a good job. I followed Burger King because I just. Wait, wait, you just confused me. Sorry. So, okay. So now all these burger CEOs are responding. and they're saying they're using it as a time to talk about their burger and taste test their burger, and they're all taking obviously massive bites of the burger. But Burger King, I think, was first to the race, and they had already put up a video of their CEO eating a burger. So they just clipped it and said, we're going to replay this. Really? So Tom was already off to the races, yeah. Tom at Burger King. Can we just name check these CEOs?
14:00The CEO is Josh, but the president is Tom? That's Tom. It's the president. Yes, Tom. The Burger King. Yes. So Tom has put his phone number out there, his personal phone number. I just saw that. For people to call. And he's actually calling them back and he's like, all right, what do you want us to change? And they're like, your nuggets are soggy. We don't like your brick and mortar. So he's changing all this stuff in real time. And he's just doing a social moment. Let's call the guy. I did want to call the guy today. Let's call the guy. Let's call him right now. Okay, one second. What's his phone number?
14:35Burger King. So you have to leave a voicemail. And you know what I'm going to say? I'm going to say, Tom, you are on Two Parents and a Pod, the number one parenting podcast in the world, and we are just giving you kudos for a company that is appropriately reading the room and reading the moment and taking advantage of the wind at your sails. And we are now Burger King family. And we're going to take our family to Burger King tonight. What's the burger he's trying? We got a reward. I think that you want to just like reward companies that like. Call. Yeah, I'm waiting for the number. I sent it. Listen up, guys.
15:09I've got to share something that I've incorporated into my nighttime ritual. I kept hearing about magnesium breakthrough by Bioptimizers from friends, from people in the comments. And everyone kept saying the same thing. This one is different because a lot of people say they're all the same. They are not all the same. people can't stop talking about the benefits deeper sleep who doesn't want that feeling calmer better workout recovery and even improved digestion but i don't like to recommend something unless i've tried it personally so i started trying the magnesium breakthrough and i want to invite you guys to try it with me so here's my challenge to you try it track your sleep pay attention to how you feel see if you wake up feeling more rested and refreshed you truly have nothing to lose.
15:54And I promise you, you have a whole lot to gain you guys. So go to buyoptimizers.com slash two parents and use our exclusive code two parents to get 15 % off any order. Make 2026 the year you finally start sleeping great again. Again, that's buyoptimizers.com slash two parents B I O P T I M I Z E R S.com slash two parents and use our exclusive code two parents to get 15 % off any order. He is awesome. And so everyone's been doing now the taste test between the Whopper and the... Do you want to talk to him? Tell him to bring back the BK chicken fries. President of Burger King here, and wow, I've gotten so much good info from these calls.
16:39I'm going to be taking many, but admittedly fewer calls as I get back to my day job. But my leadership team and I are dedicating time each week to get back to as many of you as possible. So leave a voicemail and we'll be in touch. Thanks for the call. Hi, Tom. This is Alex and Harrison. We're on Two Parents and a Podcast, and we are talking about the CEO slash president burger wars that are happening on TikTok. And I got to say, you're doing such a good job that number one, I followed Burger King on TikTok. Number two, because I can't wait to see more of your content. And number two, we are going to go try and we're going to take our sweet little 17 month old with us.
17:19And we're going to go try the Whopper at Burger King because I haven't had it since high school. And I just, you don't have to call us back. I just want to tell you you're doing a phenomenal job. Do you want to say, hold on, Harrison's going to say something. Yeah, we just wanted to give kudos to companies that are reading cultural moments the right way. Good job, Tom. And ask them to bring back BK Chicken Fries. And Jules wants the BK Chicken Fries back. And it's her 30th birthday, so come on. So please. I'm sure you don't even know this given the market cap of your company. but um yeah shout out shout out tom shout out tom okay thank you thank you tom were the were those the the long chicken tenders yeah i used to have them in high school all the time so good phenomenal where did they go i don't know they i just remember that they left um they don't have them so that's really sad they need to bring them back they're redoing a lot of the brick and mortars right now yeah and you know they have this do they who is the square patty uh wendy's now also somebody another really funny thing i saw was the rb ceo realizing he's gonna have to actually eat the burger and the guy's like well the the the the key learning in this for me is like you just gotta you gotta know your your ceo you gotta know your founder you gotta You know, like some founders, there's really compelling content to be made behind.
18:49And like other founders are just like career corporates. And I guess not founders, CEOs, they're just like career corporates that like are really good at their job of scaling these massive global organizations and optimizing the complexities of operating those businesses. but like yeah shouldn't be on camera with the food like read your strengths and read your weaknesses tom should be now this dude also just had like as when i were talking about mcdonald's uh just so we're clear on that last comment like he he had a linkedin post which was a zero out of 10 response oh no like talk about just like digging yourself into a bigger hole mcdonald's is is swinging a miss well the problem with mcdonald's right now is they're not in on their own joke so they deleted the video they've made no response to the video all their comments are like where's your video thank you they're not leaning into it at all whereas burger king social team is just like dunking on them and and mcdonald's has the platform and the opportunity to like come back yeah they should have done like they could have done even like a hilarious redo video where they even take the the joke to a further extent or like release a behind behind the scenes like there's so much you could have done with it but i'm also sure that that they're not making any of these decisions themselves and they're like sitting on these outsourced agencies and they're running these like massive pitches for like agencies to come in and tell them what to do yeah they're not leaning on their own yeah this could be a great moment for them that all said i do want to try the mcarch you do want to try it yeah i it's kind of making me want to i also thought like how do you not have arch manning try it oh my gosh okay a tip for mcdonald's like that there's your video like hi i'm arch manning the new ceo of mcdonald's dude because you know that dude smashes burgers that's actually gene okay i can't believe we're going to give this tip to mcdonald's for free but i do think harrison maybe just and he could say I'm the only one who can actually rate this burger.
21:00Yeah. It's named after me. And that is like a three out of 10 idea, maybe two and a half, maybe two out of 10 idea, but better than what they've done. That's a great, well, I'm blown away by it. If I was sitting in the marketing meeting and that was just pitched to me, I'd be like, you're hired. You know what would actually be funny, but they like do not have any form of balls to do it? What? Is to pretend like he was fired over the situation. He, but here's the thing. If they, He won't let them. If they put out a press release and were like, we had to fire him and we won't hire him back until he has 100 burgers on camera.
21:38Like that is how you re-get the internet's attention in a positive way. Okay. Harrison, two really good ideas. What do you think? One of the funny things or entertaining things to do, and this is definitely the geek in me, is like whenever you see a company's CEO, either they hire a new CEO or they resign a CEO you look at what the stock does on the back end of their performance and so I'm very curious if this dude if they even did a fake resignation or firing what would McDonald's stock do what's his name? when Starbucks brought in the new CEO billions of dollars of market cap were created oh they were created versus when um not howard is howard schultz like long gone uh yeah i i think with that he's kind of been like in and out of the organization i think it's like he steps away the company has operational issues he announces like he's going to re-engage the stock comes back i feel like that's like kind of directionally the trend that's happened but they just brought in some um i think they did they bringing the Chipotle CEO?
22:52I think it was the Chipotle CEO. Yeah. I'm not sure what the stock's done. Chris is his name. Okay, the Chris is the McDonald's CEO's name. Here's the thing. I don't think Chris is letting them have any fun with the social media. I think Chris is the problem. Why we're not seeing any buzz out of McDonald's. Yeah, this is a really, this is an amazing moment for them that they're not taking advantage of. Like plain and simple. Yeah. Tom, though, over at Burger King gets it. Now, here's the other piece. It makes me want to, I think, it does make me want to have the other burgers over the McDonald's burger.
23:24Like it makes me want to go out and just like smash a, uh, we got to go Burger King. How far away is a Burger King from us though? That's what I'm wondering. I was just going to say, like I haven't seen a Burger King in years. Shut up P Terry's. Well, here's the thing that I was going to say other people, other CEOs or presidents that have just one burger shop, right? Or they have a brewery with a great burger. They're all getting online now and talking about their burgers. And the biggest, the one I saw was like, this isn't human meat. This is animal meat. Like they're really taking a moment to talk about their burger.
23:58But I got to jump in here. And the quality of their burger. I love the initial like Burger King comeback, A &W comeback. I hate when you're like the fifth to 10th to 20th burger company coming out and like just copycatting the trend. like if you're not first you're last okay ricky bobby i i think that's how i feel on the comeback like and i see it with brands do this all the time with instagram where like some pop culture moment happens and like and i've always said if you are not the first one to ride the meme nope you're out someone commented the other day alex is low-key sneaky funny and like that's just the example what did she do you didn't even hear me probably Ricky Bobby what do you mean I quoted Ricky Bobby yeah but she made it funny Harrison doesn't get it um I hear I have to I have to push back on this for one moment yeah I agree with you like if you're the fifth sixth seventh like large fast food chain okay uncreative and you're just riding a wave now at this point but these small mom and pop shops that are like putting their CEOs on there that have millions of views for the first time on their account I love it.
25:20Because that's uncharted territory for them. Love it. Big, of course we love small businesses. I guess my point though is if they're getting millions of views then they're doing something good. Like they're actually doing something entertaining. Some of these CEOs have just oodles of charisma. So if you're not going to be first you just you need to nail the entertainment factor is kind of my point like it didn't matter what the first burger company really did on this they just needed their ceo to smash a burger eat a eat a big bite yeah which tom did um and it needed to be the right company everyone else it's like if you're gonna do it make make don't just copy do it and and and make a statement and be entertaining with it who's wearing the mask jack in the box i'm not understanding what they're doing but people are saying they're winning but i i really don't get it because the ceo is like thirst trapping also wearing like a mask of some sort i don't know but people love that one but it didn't make sense to me i think maybe i maybe i'm too old and and i'm aged out and on those if i i haven't seen this one but what i will say is i can't say everything i just said and a company takes a different swing and if it doesn't land like at least at least they take a shot yeah which i agree with i just think burger it was ironic last night harrison was like are you on this burger talk i was like am i on it it's the only thing i'm watching it's the only thing i'm watching and it is i want to go try this burger king burger so bad because he's perfected the buns people were saying they were too soggy and he switched the buns out it's a great internet moment it's a great internet and just shout out to burger king all right so that's that's it on burger talk which we are clearly all over in our household i was thinking can you make me a burger and i can pick on the ceo of our house and then i can taste it that's a funny video okay tate eating the burger the ceo of our house the real ceo of our house tate that's really funny that's like really funny do you think she could figure out how to pick up the whole burger oh for sure if we show her we show her it's a new year and time to get feeling like yourself you guys if losing weight is one of your 2026 goals, well, it's March and we're still tracking those goals and you're ready to make progress you can count on, then weight loss by HERS might be the right fit for you.

Okay, but let's – do we want to talk about last night for 10 seconds? Yeah, what about it? Because you referenced it.
28:55What happened? Oh, yeah, we never actually talked about it. How she just – Oh, my gosh. She had a good three to four-hour stretch of wake. The bubberator did. So she woke up at 1, went back to bed, call it 4.30-ish plus minus. Let's call it 4. So there was a three-hour stretch. i i'd always heard um like when your kid is crying in the middle of the night the what you don't ever want to do if you can avoid it is take them out of the bed because it wakes them up and i think that the challenge that we got into last night driven by me is i think she was cold and so i think she woke up at one cold and so when i changed her into something warmer i think that really woke her up and so i think she was very confused as to okay like i'm kind of up you kind of changed me like while i'm tired i'm thinking my day's starting and so we had to like really recalm her back into bed that's what i think happened and that's why i think she was up for so long because i think she thought her day was starting because we because in changing her it like it woke her up but i felt like she needed to be changed because i thought she was cold her room just like felt really cold which is funny because it's we're all we always sleep at 70 for bubs because harrison and i would sleep at 68 but because of the bubberator we sleep at 70 in our house um i'll say this though harrison turned it up to 72 and the three of us zonked out from four to eight to eight a.m yeah like comad out it was and i was warm and i was so cozy and it stayed darker later it was great bub stayed asleep it was amazing yeah i also want to be clear we didn't leave her in the crib from one to four i was with her the whole time trying to get her to go back down no we're not listen some people when their kid wakes up in the middle of the night and they cry like they leave them in there Harrison and I we don't have that heart so we just like I went in there first and I grabbed her and I held her for a second and then Harrison came around the corner and said I think she's cold and she heard him and let me tell you who Tate loves she dad dad dad and then it was just dad dad and then she really wanted data so then data took over which was great for me because I mean I could not keep my eyes open um so he was with her the whole time but we don't and then I put her back in the bed and when I put her back in the bed that's when I was just like I really think she's cold and that's when I was like I didn't know what to do because it was going to take too long for the room temperature to actually get warm once you changed her and got her warm and the house heated up I mean the girl she was zonked yeah but it took a long time because I changed her and then she was up and then when I put her back in she was standing being like it's time for my day to start and so we had to redo her bedtime routine and did yeah she got confused I think she was very confused um but what we were saying this morning was like we really feel for we're lucky right we don't know what we're gonna get with our little boy here in the belly but like we're lucky with bubs because she's a good sleeper nine out of nine and a half out of ten nights and like last night she wasn't and even though I wasn't even up with her I could hear you guys and I could hear her crying I knew you weren't in bed I knew she was awake and like that kept me up let alone was i you who was like fully awake and like this morning we're both just like you're out of it if you're fully up for four hours in the middle three hours in the middle of the night i because she slept until eight i i feel fine um the i tried for the first time to sleep in her room on the floor yeah and that's when i realized that she was fully awake because she was just like talking to you well i would the way it would work is i would like put her down and i'd get her to calm and then when i'd leave the room she would like immediately stand up and and start calling for me and so i went back in there and i was like okay let's put her down and let's just sleep beside the crib and And so I'd put her down.
33:17And then when I'd slept, when I'd go beside the crib, she would just stand up and she just started calling for me. I was like, all right, let's just completely reset the bedtime routine. So I went and we like got her some milk and rocked around the chair. That would be confusing for her. And talked a whole lot. Like, because how would you know? Yeah. How would you know tonight for, you know, 18 months, no one's changed to be in the middle of the night. I am cold but tonight they're changing me in the middle of the night like it's so confusing and I what I love one thing I do want to ask you because I I think you and bubs have like the sweetest bond ever and like she sees you she loves me I I you know that she loves her mama number one Harrison always says mom is number one but actually dada is I mean she is a dad as girl so I wanted to ask you what are some ways that you've bonded with Tate over her first year year and a half of life especially knowing like you're not the kind that sits in place with her you don't love toys but like you guys have such a strong bond and you found ways to bond with her that are like incredible yeah I think that um number one she loves you most so let's just be very clear about that um i think when it comes to the bond that her and i have that i'm like so it just feels so special to me um and i even felt it like last night when she was just like lying on my chest like oh my god i'm just like so happy with this girl lying here um is but but back to our like when i look at what are the the actual things that are being done to drive that the first thing is is routine and from day one her and I have just had daily routines both routines that her and I do ourselves but also family routines and these routines like they're not rocket science but they do happen every day and they do create special moments where her and I can bond and bond through her different developmental phases.
35:32And so an example of this, it started week one of week two of her being in the little pouch and we would walk to the coffee shop with her in the pouch. Now that's since adapted and it went to us walking in the stroller to now we walk there together and I hold her hand and... Takes longer. It takes, you know, what is a seven-minute walk is now anywhere from a 30 to 45-minute walk. But it's a very special thing that we truly do, you know. Five times a week. Yeah, I would say five to six. And, you know, on the back end, while we have our bedtime routine, which I've talked about before, There's also the pre-bed time routine, which we do now as a family where we walk around the block.
36:29And so that's the first thing is just like finding these day-to-day routines and adjusting them as she continues to get older. And repetition is really, really good for her age because it's how they learn. So she knows to start to expect that. Yeah. The second thing is I found activities that both of us enjoy. And the one that really jumps out on this is cooking. And that's something that when we have a down hour in a day, it's something that I know that she wants to do. Because when I move that cooking – The stool. The tower. The tower. The cooking tower. She scoots right to it. And you just see the raw positive emotion on her face throughout it.
37:22and I really like doing it and when it comes to like things I know she wants to do I just like have found my way to enjoy them so like going to the park she loves to go to the park she loves to play with other kids at the park and so like once again none of this is rocket science but I've just been like okay when I take Bubz to the park we're either going to kind of go through the the player together but often not she's just going to want to be playing with other kids and that's turned into my podcast time and so i'll have one headphone in um and like i i found that as a way for her to get to do something that she wants and me get to do something i want obviously i'm watching her i'm enjoying the moment of watching her play but like she's playing for like an hour no she's she's very happy at the park um and then the third thing is uh i really leaned into traditions and i find that those traditions create everlasting memories and um really like around the holidays is what i'm referring to i wasn't growing up a massive holiday person and every single holiday from valentine's day to i mean going back like it started with uh halloween and her being five six weeks old and turning her stroller into a hot dog cart to thanksgiving where we turned her stroller into a thanksgiving table an oven sorry she was the turkey she was the turkey um to easter the holidays like this this valentine's day we did a bunch of big cooking and um just like really finding any opportunity to like create special both one-on-one moments and family moments um and yeah i think the way i just bring it all together is like I said while none of this is rocket science what it is is just like it's a consistent focus every day on connecting with her growing with her and and bonding with her and and now she truly feels like an extension of myself well what I what I have to give you kudos for is because I think those are, what are the three?
40:04I said the three that came to mind were routine, finding activities that both of us enjoy, and special moments, holidays, traditions. You know when you want something warm, cozy, and comforting after a long day? Well, that's when we turn to Goodles in our household, you guys. 40:47But, and they're all a treat, they've got the Chetty Mac, the Shella Good, the Twist My Parm, and here comes the truffle, which is like the best thing ever. And they have the best pasta. I'm obsessed with the Goodles pasta. Every serving of Goodall's mac and cheese has protein, fiber with prebiotics, and vitamins and minerals from real plant sources. Plus, it's Clean Label Purity Award certified, which means it's been tested for over 400 contaminants, and Goodall's meets their highest standard. It's time to get some Goodall's for yourself.
41:25I know you'll love them as much as we do. pick up Goodles mac and cheese and pasta on your next shopping trip available nationwide at Target and Walmart plus many other grocery stores and retailers so what I like about it that you've done just from observing is you've really made it your own like cooking I would never think to cook with somebody her age at all but she knows she gets to crack the egg she knows the banana goes in the bowl and she knows she gets to do the mixing like if you guys haven't seen Harrison puts all of his cooking videos on TikTok. Have you put one on Instagram? I don't think so.
42:00Yeah, they're precious. And Bub's like, you can see how she evolves over time and she knows she's doing it. But you've put your own thing on, your own spin on fatherhood. Like you didn't follow some rule book. You just said like, this is what I want to do. And I think it's really sweet. Yeah, and to each their own. And everyone's going to have different types of relationships with their children and find different ways to bond with them. But this is what's worked for us. The question was what worked for you, yeah. and so those are the three things i think that i just think that's really sweet i have a question yes semi-non-related about the walking have you guys do you have friends that use the leash the kid leash are you guys ever going to use the kid leash i'm so out on the kid lady i just brought this the other up the other day what do they call it in modern family um cam doesn't call it a leash She calls it.
42:47Yes. A child safety tether. And so I was like looking at TikToks about this because there's different forms of leashes. Right. Because like leash has such a negative connotation to it. A lot of times like a backpack or it's like a little bracelet that the mom and the kid wear and they're like bungee like this. we're not um child safety tether people nor do i know anybody that is but i do see people make videos of it and listen it's what they're doing is trying to keep their kids safe right so like that i'm for but i think that so much of like going for the walk and taking them places is them is the development side of it where they understand where they learn naturally okay like Like how far can I go away from my parents?
43:35Like where – What does a car mean? A car means you cannot go. And then like finding those boundaries. And I think it's our job as parents to be fully aware, fully tuned in on – sorry, I just kind of blanked. I think it's our job as parents to monitor the situation around them understanding boundaries rather than enforcing them through these weird gadgets. It's like every day at the coffee shop, I'm watching her and how she interacts with the people coming in and out of the door, the construction site, the general sidewalk, the dogs that come by. Like that to me is where the growth is coming from.
44:24And whenever obviously like I see her getting anywhere close to real danger, like I step in. But like she's got she's she's there to learn how the world works. yeah I just I will say this like while again it's not for us because our method is what Harrison just described I do understand like if you're in a large crowd and you've got a runner I do I do see putting I do I like I I don't dog it I guess yeah but I I kind of push on it I think that it probably like I feel like that the correlation of parenting that way will probably tie into into other potential issues like if your kid is a runner i feel like that's something that you probably want to get under control and do that actually i may back off of that well i don't know because maybe it's a way that gives the internet is saying it's kind of like a band-aid solution more than an actual and that's what i mean it feels like a band-aid to me like it feels like they need to learn at the airport like they can't run away because they run away like there are potential problems that come with that and it's your job to teach them that i just i do i don't know if a leash does that i my natural inclination is it doesn't child safety tether i do i do see it i do see that like again i can't say this enough we're never doing it to bubs i'm personally we're not for it but i do see in a situation like i think this is the classic thing you see somebody walk by their kids on a child safety tether and then you hear like oh their kids on a leash right the whispers i do see it's like your most precious thing if you're in a large crowd and like you just need to get through putting them on it for that situation i i can understand um i do think it's probably a band-aid it's not for us but i think doing it like every day on the way to the coffee shop is just like then what do you do if grandma's walking them like how does how does the kid learn or like walking with them what do you do if like grandma's walking with them one day and she doesn't have the leash like do they have no concept of how far they can go i don't know but it's also like there's um i've i've seen some stuff come out about like the there's the backpacks that's what i'm saying one of them is the protective oh uh head back and i think that like part of i think why people advise against those is because it then doesn't teach them how to fall.
46:54People advise against those, our pediatrician advised against that because it teaches a kid. So what it is, is it's a backpack pillow where the top of it protects their head. So if they fall backwards when they're learning to walk, it's a cushion for them. The problem with it is they're not wearing it 24 7 and so they'll actually end up falling on their head more because they don't learn the proper way to fall and they think they have the cushion below it like if you fall with the cushion on it doesn't hurt right your head and so you don't realize like first if you have a little fall on it and it hurts your head then you realize oh wow when i fall i really need to protect the back of my head and be careful and that to me i think i was wondering like why I naturally was so inclined to say like I was against the leashes and I think that that those two tie together it's like when it's not and the leash isn't there are they gonna run into the middle of the street might as well teach them the right way don't run into the middle of the street right like it is a little harder at first you have to be more on and you do have to teach them like if you fall this is what's gonna happen um but it's the same thing with the floaty thing I hear.
48:05I don't know. We're not here yet. We are actually starting swim lessons though. We've got a mom group. There's five of us and we're going to do swim lessons at one of our friends pool. And I'm like, so I think it's going to be the cutest thing ever. Um, and I'm really excited about it, but we're doing it for six weeks or eight weeks. I can't remember. Anyways, with floaties, I see like, again, I don't know this part yet because I haven't started like, like I kind of like learn about the season that we're in, but something about if they wear floaties, they think they can swim and they think they'll float.
48:37And then whenever they don't have the floaties on, they don't realize they don't have the floaties on. I don't know what that I'll have to learn about. Maybe somebody in the comments can tell me some safety things around that because I don't know it yet. But anyways, we are starting swim lessons. Speaking of swim lessons, let's talk about Newport now. Okay. Cause the cutest thing bubs did was she ran fully clothed into the ocean, not by herself. I was holding her hand fully naked. No, no, that's why, that's why I FaceTimed you. She ran in. Oh, this is a trade show. Sorry. Yeah. Harrison wasn't there.
49:04she ran in fully clothed and i was like you are your father's child and i was like she's obviously gonna feel how cold this water is and we're gonna back out of the water and she she wanted to go further into it she was dipping her head into it and she was giggling like it was the cutest thing ever your mom and i were just like dying oh i wish i saw this yeah and then that's when we had to do the stirp down that's when i facetimed you um so okay so bubs on the airplane what we did do you guys was we said to her because like i'm just a lot of times nauseous and harrison had bubs and he was like all right in a pinch we're i'm going to show her a show so we showed her did you show her madagascar on the way there um we had bluey and madagascar were the two that we tried when i tell you this child had no interest she had she just she couldn't have cared less i I think she watched in aggregate three minutes of shows.
50:04It was so. And I think it's so funny how we spent so much time like talking about screens and like, you know. Only for her to not care. Only for her to not care. I actually, I want to add one last thing on the bonding. Do it. And the screens. Okay. Okay. I think that what I've really done is I've looked at our moments. and the mornings are a great example and i really looked at them as a way when we have one-on-one time together from the perspective of how can we bond through this how can we have fun how can we develop a great relationship how can i help her develop and grow rather than how can i kill time and so like in the mornings i don't wake up and just like put a show on to kill the an hour or two until child care comes every morning i wake up and it's very much all right how can we have a special great morning together seven days a week and like i think what i'm so surprised by is like, so we talked about walking to the coffee shop.
51:22We do a ton of our cooking in the morning. But the other thing is like, and I think I've been so surprised by her interest in participating. And so like cleaning, rather than me putting a show on and distracting her while I clean the house, I bring her into the activity and she loves to help. And is it anywhere close to as efficient? No. No. She loves to vacuum though. She thinks that's her vacuum. But she's learning and she's growing and we are also bonding. And she spilled her water yesterday and we gave her the towel and we're like, bubs, you spilled the water. She gets down. I mean, she's not even wiping in the right spot, right?
52:07Like we clean it up afterwards. But she thinks she's wiping. Exactly. And we encourage her and we support her with positivity. and obviously we have a ton to learn as parents, but I think this is one general mindset that I'm really proud of that both of us take and that, yeah, we can get behind. There's so many things we do wrong and we always, it's funny when we meet you guys out, we met so many of you at Expo West and we always say we're just two idiots. Like we're just trying to figure it out. but one in which is so true because like we do not know what we don't know and we're constantly learning um but yeah one area where we just where we personally enjoy maybe it's even for everybody right but it's just like an area that we love is doing things with her totally and so screens have not been a part of her life at all um we thought we were gonna pass two hours on that airplane we were like we're gonna put it on and it's to the point like on an airplane there's only so much you can do like we ran the gamut of activities and we ran right through them she yeah she did she didn't want to watch so i'm very curious as to why i think one issue that was happening was she kept touching the screen which was like pausing it or switching it and she like she always just wanted to touch the screen but i don't know yeah she wasn't i and i'm sure like that'll change very quickly at some point well so i made a video about this and i was like bob's had no interest in the screen we did madagascar apparently madagascar's too advanced for her okay fine bluey yeah and we and i remember i gave you bluey to start with but and i didn't know she didn't like that because her and harrison were sitting together um and you know what i'll say this her and harrison were sitting together and the girl in front of them offered me her seat and i declined because it wasn't her problem that we didn't book to sit together and it turned out to be the best thing ever because Harrison and I were both aisles so bubs could run back and forth to us and that killed a lot of time so that was great these days we're all about quality over quantity especially when it comes to our closet if it's not well made and versatile it's just not worth it to me it's not worth the purchase and that's why we love quints these fabrics feel elevated the cuts are thoughtful and the pricing actually makes sense we went to a basketball game if you saw my tiktok on saturday night harrison was wearing a quince top with the matching shoes he looked so handsome and the quality is truly top-notch you guys the way that they're able to have such high quality um products like their cashmere sweaters their mongolian cashmere sweaters that i'm obsessed with and they don't break the bank is they partner direct with factories and they cut out the middleman so they're able to pass on the discounts to you guys They use 100 % European linen.

57:19I'll say this off the top as a disclaimer. People say schedule it during nap time or during bedtime. We've tried that. She sleeps 30 minutes tops on an airplane. Like she always wakes up. And so that method doesn't work for us. And then I find we're off for the whole day because we didn't get a quality nap. So I'm scratching nap time from the list. And then these are things, again, these are non-screen time related things. Um, so number one snacks and not just any snack, interactive snacks. So I love the solely bars because you peel them down and it's almost like they're eating a popsicle and she finds that really fun.
57:59String cheese is another example, really fun. And Tate loves grapes because what we do with grapes is I bite half and then she gets to eat the other half and she just thinks that's like the funniest, silliest, most fun thing, um, on the planet. So snacks. And what we're going to do at the end of this is we're going to talk about time blocking. Okay. So number one, snacks. Number two, this one was from the comments. I think it's genius. I've never thought about it. Wrapping a present and giving her another one every 30 minutes because kids love to unwrap presents. And it takes forever. So smart.
58:39And then what do you think about this though? Putting something in the box. I think that what's in the box should be like another time extender. So like a fun snack for them to unpackage. I don't think it should be like a toy. A new toy. Because I don't want her to think on the airplane she gets all new toys. But another tip is it doesn't have to be a new toy, but a toy they haven't seen before or they haven't seen in a really long time. Not their favorite toy. but but something that's new to them or new to them in the past month I think um occupies at least five minutes and all these things we're trying to get 10 15 minutes max um okay blue painter's tape so this was one from the comments that I did try when we get home and it's putting blue painter's tape you know you you wad it up and you stick it on the window and then they can take it off and put it on the tray table or on the seat or on mom's face or on dad's face and I think that's a really cute idea so when we got home I found some blue painters tape and I put it on the fridge for her to take off and she thought that was really fun but she thought it was fun for like three four minutes yeah I think like what all of this is like coming like like where all this is landing is like on our next flight I think that we should come up with like create a full like checklist of different activities and like you know have 10 of them on there and just like hope that we can, you know, get any of those activities anywhere from like 10 to 30 minutes.
1:00:15And those will then make up the whole flight. And like when one's done, you just kind of check it off. Because I feel like, you know, traveling with kids over 12 months is like is such a challenge that like playing as much offense as possible is just super beneficial. Well, the way I think we would do it now is the present would be the starting point of the 30 minute block. So you give her one present, then you know, okay, we're going to do one snack. Then we're going to do blue painter's tape. Okay. And then we're going to do window time. So this is another hack and don't underestimate the power of the window.
1:00:52Try to get the window seat. She loves, and Harrison will say this, it depends on how easy the window goes up and down, right? Because sometimes they get a little bit more jammed than other times. that window can take up 30 minutes because it goes up down up down it is she goes uppies like she has so much fun with the window and it's just it's automatically there yeah where it is so like you know tiring as a parent is like if you're into like when i watch you guys play on the window it's when i'm playing with her on the window like the more we're into it the more she's into it And so like you can't, if you're passive, they're not going to find it engaging.
1:01:38And so you really like need to be dialed. And it's almost like the other thing I'd add, which is critical, is like critical to getting through airplanes is like the parents being rested. Because if we're rested, we can be on our game and then we can entertain them in the best way possible. versus like if we're tired, it's just a slog. Let's call it what it is. Flights used to be a time where you could recharge, you could work, and your screen time was at an all-time high, but who cares because you get the Wi-Fi, you scroll, you watch a show, it's the best. Totally. I did not touch my phone the entire flight there.
1:02:22I gave it to you and we took off and then like forgot about it because flights now you're, you're totally correct. You need to be energized. You need to be well rested. Got to put your phone up. Like, forget it. You're not listening to a podcast. You're not watching a show because you got to be on the whole time with them at this age. If you're not doing screens, if you don't have a way to occupy them, like, and you're, I'm constantly sweating on these flights because I'm like, if she starts to get a little antsy, because of course she wants to run around i'm like oh my gosh we're interrupting everybody i i don't handle it that well for some reason it just i just feel like the biggest inconvenience anyways back to the list okay music so we got her they're called heyday everyone's asking me this they're heyday headphones from target they're purple purple pink they were 1999 they bluetooth to the phone they're phenomenal quality they're easy to use she loves the color they're comfy they fit her little head play music on those create a playlist the wheels on the bus go around like we do that over and over again yeah so that's a good little 10 minutter i'd be curious if there's other headphones people like because like i do notice that like there comes a point in every flight like she just wants his headphones off yeah and then like yeah maybe i think i do think though she's pretty fond of them like I think maybe we could try a different one but I do think she likes them yeah but like as you as you just said like you know we're talking 10 minutes 15 minutes but everything's 10 minutes 15 minutes I feel like the hope I wonder if there's like a headphone that like a child would wear for no I think I gotta push back on this I think you nailed it we need to wear over the ear headphones then it would become cool to her she sees our airpods and she's always like this why do you say i nailed it because on the flight you said if we were do not remember you're like if we were wearing over the ear headphones it'd be really cool you could have stolen that idea i would have forgot i said that no i was like correct because like with her cast her cast becomes the coolest thing ever when we wear the cast so i think i do think we could solve that immediately because our headphones are different than hers and i don't think she likes that yeah um but i think hers are the she likes the color and they're comfy so i think they're a win um okay the bathroom trips don't underestimate the power of a bathroom trip don't even you don't have to go to the bathroom we go you got to find the appropriate amount of time to go i'm pregnant i can go to the bathroom a lot and nobody's going to say anything um but i think you can go i think you can go twice in an hour i think that's the appropriate great amount of time to go to the bathroom with a toddler on an airplane.
1:05:06And sometimes we just go to the bathroom. We bounce the two of us, we hop, hop, hop. And then we get to wash our hands, which is really cool. And then we get to throw away the paper towels in the trash can. And then we get to walk back to our seat. The problem. I, I like the aisle pacing. Harrison doesn't as much and Tate's kind of a bad aisle pacer because she tries to say hi to everybody. And if they're sleeping she doesn't understand why they're sleeping and i always see her arm go like this and i always have to put her arm back so she and it's flight it's flight attendant dependent and a lot of people don't like you pacing on the aisle so we we say you get two down and backs down and back and then we got to sit in the chair again imagine if you're snoozing and you just like look up and it's just about right in your face and she's like this ah and you're like oh you'd have to have a real um sense of humor about it okay so wrap a present she gets most excited when she walks past like uh grandpas yeah she just knows she knows a grandpa and she just wait and they're so nice back they're so sweet back wrap a present blue painters tape use the window bring interactive snacks go to the bathroom um and then play music those are those are my tips oh i said wrap the present but put it on a timer and then every time she gets bored with one just boom flip her into the other well rested and be well rested now here's my number one my number number number one thing and it's easy and it's when she starts to squirm and i can tell like we we do not want to be sitting in this chair anymore i pull out my phone i don't count this as screen time and i'll start pulling up photos of people i always start with dada and we just pull up the phone and we go who is that and then she'll go dada and then we'll go who's this and you just play the who is this game and you have grandparents on there you have we have winnie on there people in her life that she knows um and you can show her data every other photo and she thinks it's the coolest thing ever yeah this was i think far and away our most successful um truly 30 minutes like when you pulled out the phone and started showing her those photos like she was loving it and like you were doing such a good job and it goes back to like you were showing her the photos with excitement you weren't passively just like swiping through the photos you zoom in on the people yeah you kisses to baba you were running like you were making it the activity that it came to be and i i just like it's very motivating to see because then when i see you doing that especially you doing that pregnant it's like okay whether it's the window game or me then showing her photos or me having snacks.
1:07:50So they're like, you got to bring the heat. You do. You're a performer. You are making sitting down the coolest thing ever on the airplane. You're very good at it. And the other thing is just remember, don't let their ears get bad. So we will put in the pacifier. I know some people are like, we don't even still have a paci. Have a drink, have her chewing something, but play offense on the ears. We just do the paci. I'm just saying, don't let the ears get bad because I think it's really hard to recover from that. So keep the ears wide open. And the moment me or Harrison feel our ears start to pop, we look at each other.
1:08:30If one of us catches it and we're like, ears. And so just remember the little ears. Okay, so those are our airplane tips. We welcome any more that you have. People said download Miss Rachel, do X, Y, Z. Like, we just don't want to do that. We have our shows we want to do. I will say this. There was a there's a wheels on the bus show by its RV app studios. And he's like a little tiger, I think she did like that one. So we did a light screen time on the way back, maybe 10 minutes. And she did like playing the wheels on the bus with them. So and it felt very low stimulating. And my number one fear with the screens was like when you know, you hear when you take it away they're like i want more i i just she couldn't have cared less i don't know she just she just couldn't have cared less um okay so we just been just chatting away we're not even going to get to things we dm'd we'll just save our things we dm'd and things we learned this week our things we dm'd that i do want to do one of the next two weeks is the um american academy pediatrics updated their screen time guidelines for kids yeah which i think is highly applicable to this episode, but we're not going to do it.
1:09:47So what we are going to do is in the comments section of my TikTok, Instagram, and the two parents account, we're talking a lot about maternity clothes and if a pregnant person can have their belly out. Should a pregnant person have a belly out? So we're going to break it up into two sections. Number one, we're going to talk about maternity clothes. Sounds like a lot of people feel like I do, which is maternity clothes, number one, they don't fit right. And number two, they're expensive. Number three, you're buying them for a trimester, which is three months, and then they don't fit. I find as a tall person, like they're high waters.
1:10:29Like everyone keeps saying, just try maternity clothes. And it's like, I have tried maternity clothes. They don't look good. They don't fit me right. and I don't, I would just rather wear, I don't know, like Abercrombie pants and just buy five sizes bigger. Like that to me is just my preferred method. Um, so I've tried the maternity clothes. I don't like them. Maybe there's a site that I'm missing. Um, but they're largely, I would say not for me. Now, here's the other thing I really want to talk about. Should a pregnant person have their belly out or not? A lot of people are commenting being like, I don't understand why the stomach's out.
1:11:09One girl messaged me and she was like, buy a bigger shirt. And it's like, ew, you started off the comment with, ew, buy a bigger shirt. Okay. Number one, you've lost me with the ew. But number two, like it kind of reminds me of you being like, I don't like your eyebrows or something. Like I do think pregnant people, you're just allowed to show your belly if you want, just as if you're not pregnant, you're allowed to wear a crop top if you want. You're allowed to pick the length of your shorts if you want. And I think bellies out is cute. And I also think it's something to be celebrated. Maybe that's a modern take, but I think the belly is what it is.
1:11:48I'm not gonna go buy shirts that are double XL that go over it just to make like one person feel comfortable when I like my shirts that I have. They've become way too short. They just have, but I'm just in belly out mode. pregnancy is a beautiful thing and i think you look phenomenal and i support you in however you want to dress well that fits you and away but i think i see a lot of people that are pregnant and they look so cute and they just have like a little crop because it's hard to find a shirt that's long enough i mean these bumps the baby's five pounds right now these bumps get big and so to find a shirt that goes over it I mean sometimes I wear your clothes but I would rather wear I just would rather wear what I want to wear and I think when we get online we got to ask ourselves we got to ask okay what are some things we want to care about what are some things we want to let go right and areas where you care about is like okay a great example is Bubber in the the carrier where she used to not have her legs in the right shape people would tell us that that's something I like welcome right there's like and I'm welcoming right I'm asking do you guys have any tips for flights like these are things one area where I'm not asking you is if you think I should wear my stomach out or not and I just think you just keep scrolling if you if I did it the opposite way that you did it but what cracks me up about these comments is somebody saying oh buy a bigger shirt it doesn't make me want to buy a bigger shirt because Olivia said you're like i'm gonna get a shorter shirt yeah like olivia i will definitely not do that because i just i'm just who cares that's my thing i'm not allowed to say who cares but who cares who why do you care you having a shorter shirt does not impact my life in the sidest in the at like at all and the shirts are they're long enough who cares right i'm just like it's not your deal it's my deal so that's how i feel about that um was there anything else that i wanted to talk about oh it's just like i did i do want to talk about this really quick i think when we travel it unlocks milestones within tate's brain i know that might sound crazy to say but i do feel like something that i've thought about ever since she was born to now 18 months is when we come back from a trip, I noticed we've unlocked more words.
1:14:19I've noticed some kind of developmental something or another happens. And I know that sounds crazy, but this week, what it is, we got back from Orange County and she knows the neighbor's names outside. Like she's talking about their names. And I feel like she's starting to catch on to more words and maybe they're not correlated at all. But I feel like I've said this after most trips that we get back from, she comes home to her environment that she's used to and she shows us some new thing i think that it's much more coincidence versus causality as they say i think that really the development the developmental milestones that we're seeing her hit very much are aligned with what you would expect for someone her age.
1:15:08I think it seemed like right now is the period of her increasing her vocabulary exponentially and so I think that that like I'm not saying she's doing anything outside of what she should be doing. I'm not saying we have some novel kid. I'm just saying I noticed the second we get home it's like boom there it is. And I'm saying that's I think that's coincidence. I think you have like two points in time to refer to. Like you have a before and an after versus if you were just home for those two weeks it would just be like the two weeks kept going and you didn't have anything to compare to yeah maybe that's what it is i just noticed we get home and i'm like wow we've learned more words and i kind of i kind of buy it too yeah something about it and i would be curious to know if anybody else at home experiences the same thing even if you like go to grandparents house for a weekend you come back does something about leaving and coming back unlock something in these little kids brains Maybe, maybe not.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast we start with an underrated friendship milestone from Sunday night: the friends you can sit in silence with. The ones you can cook dinner with, hang out with, and not feel the need to fill every moment with conversation. Then we recap Jules turning 30 (!!) in New York — including a pro-tip on how to pull off a surprise and a dinner rec that’s AMAZING for big groups.
Next we get into one of the funniest internet moments currently taking over our FYPs: burger CEOs going to war on TikTok — and why some brands understand internet culture way better than others. (Yes… we actually called Burger King live on the pod hahaha)
From there we talk parenting: handling toddler night wakings, how Harrison has built such a strong bond with Bubs, why we personally won’t use a child safety tether (fancy way to say leash lol), and the mindset shift that’s changed how we think about time with our kids (hint: stop trying to “pass the time”). After our latest flight, we also share our best screen-free tips for flying with a toddler.
And we end with a debate: maternity clothes vs sizing up normal clothes — plus the comment section question of the week… are crop tops while pregnant acceptable or not?
LOVE YOU GUYS. Thanks for listening!!!
