Key claims
- For kids: keep gifts limited (a few items) and center holidays on traditions/memories.
- “Stock” gifts: buy small themed stock shares (e.g., Amazon/Walmart/Target) as an educational portfolio.
- Flying with toddlers: bring lots of snacks, busy boards/fidget toys, and expect schedule disruption; kids may have meltdowns even if others look fine.
- Turkey thawing: turkey must be fully thawed inside; check by reaching in/using thermometer to avoid uneven cooking.
Notable examples
- Christmas in Montana ranch: holiday pajamas + two small developmental toys (busy board/egg-carton style).
- Santa logistics without a chimney: “Santa uses the stove/vent hood.”
- Thanksgiving travel: Oklahoma City; 10/10 trip; flight included a cat under the seat causing allergy symptoms, plus praise for a “team player” mom helping with kids/strollers.

This is the holiday, tis the season Q &A session. And do you know what I love about this? Please. I love when we do this. So we're recording the night before it comes out, which is like as IRL as it possibly could be. Yes. A Sunday night recording.
1:29Yes. Happy holidays, everybody. Happy holidays. The season is among us. So I have this new necklace on. Somebody messaged me and they were like, we want to make you a necklace. Give us the three words, names. So I have Harrison and I have Tate and then I have Jelly because we call the baby in the stomach Jelly Bean. And somebody messaged me and said, name suggestion. and I like it because it's four letters and Tate I think okay I think it's so good that it needs to be bleeped I think it's so good it needs to be bleeped I can't believe you just revealed that to me for the first time well somebody dm'd it to me this morning and I was I think it's really good I was on the treadmill and I was like not bad because here's the thing so I had like a West in moment but the hotel i keep seeing the hotel okay so it's over it's over because when also when you said that for the first time i i really liked it have we said this is a q a episode yet yeah i think i did say yeah this is this is the q a episode but we're just talking a bit at the beginning okay i just wanted the the listener to know what they were in for we go to new york this week i'm just i have never been so excited to go to new york i don't think where i'm nervous though is we're leaving the Bubberator.
2:48Yes. We're leaving her. Harrison's mom's in town. Yes. Bub's is staying home. It's the longest that we've been away from her. Yep. Well, we'll see if we come back Thursday or Friday. Yeah. So we have four interviews while we're in New York. They're all very exciting. The number one interview that got us getting there was Emily Oster. Yes. Who I read Expecting Better. I'm sure many of you did too. When I said it to the neighbors, they were like, Emily Oster. so that'll be a fabulous episode and then we have three other really really really good ones so those will be Monday episodes so should we get into this into the Q &A I would love to there was something else I wanted to tell you well there's a lot of things I do forget what it was over the past few days like things that I like wrote in like or added to the to the notion doc to discuss but I think those are Thursday episode topics and so Monday's a bit more structured I thought we were recording initially like several hours ago.
3:48I thought we were recording Thursday's episode today and I didn't understand why. Yeah, that would be aggressive. That would just be like crazy to like come in here on Sunday night to record, to put something out on Thursday. Yes, yes. But we're recording that tomorrow. Now that everybody knows our recording schedule. Okay. Which is always good for them to know. I am going to bring up, should we not just be recording the Thursday episode from New York? when we're already in the studio I think no because we just have it's like fatigue no not necessarily fatigue well here's the way studios work so you have to so we have our own studio here in Austin which I don't even know if we ever covered so we we now have a studio here and we pay rent but like if we come in and record for five hours versus one hour like we have our fixed rent every month which is really nice we also don't have to book it when we go to New York or ways if we go to LA or how we used to do it in Austin is there's these studios um and you rent them online and you pay a fee per hour and you're really like boxed into that hour and then they have to transfer you the footage so it's like a lot more number one it's it costs more but number two like I don't know it's a different Jules is on the line Jules what do we think i think there's just too much going on thursday tuesday to thursday to record we're gonna have so much footage coming to pee like okay i can't tell you jules how happy the neighbors were when they learned that you had a mic on the podcast they i guess they were driving the car when they listened to the Friendsgiving episode recap, and they just were pumped.
5:38They told us last night. They did tell us this last night. Shout out to the girl and neighbor T. There we go. There we go. So Jules isn't here. So P's here. P made a fabulous turkey for Thanksgiving, which I saw on her Insta story. Jules is still in her hometown, which we won't say. Do we say where Jules is from? You can say it. Cleveland. Jules from Cleveland It's a one hour Plate to New York versus five Home of Cleveland Kraut The best Or Cleveland Kitchen, formerly Cleveland Kraut The best kraut, pickles And Kimchi Amongst other very delicious items That exist And they just sent us merch They did That was started in Cleveland Obviously Yeah Yeah so Jules is home for Thanksgiving And then she's going to New York from there Because it's a lot easier to get there So I don't know if this is a super obvious thing Okay Or do we want to get in a Q &A Tell us now It's on turkey Tell us So P was talking about her turkey experience And how she did something How she spent the night of Night before Night before Getting up and changing the water To get the turkey temperature down To thaw her turkey getting the turkey to the right temperature major major major key do people like is that fully fully known like if it is freezing at all in there it completely messes with your cuck like the de-thawing process critical it dries it out right oh you have a mic oh my goodness yeah i do is this Pea's debut on the mic?
7:20Yes, I think it is. Oh my goodness. Hi guys. Hi P. So you, if you have, it dries it out because it's water and then it like fries it. Not fries it, but it dries it. I think so. Yeah, well, well. It has to be thawed. I do think people know that. But like, do people know how thawed, like it needs to be fully, fully, fully thawed because the last part to thaw is the inside. And how do you check it? You need to reach in and check it. Oh. Like it needs to, I'm sure you can probably like check it with an actual thermometer. I was going to say I used a meat thermometer. But, but you should like, I do it by hand.
7:56The problem being the outside will overcook and the inside will undercook. And so you end up with, um, with a, uh, a mismatch of how it all tastes. I've never talked about cooking so much in my life. A ton of attention on the thawing process. A ton of attention on the turkey in general had happened on Thursday. Let's just get in. Let's just we'll pop. We'll pop into our Q &A. OK. From here. Let's do it. So the Q &A you guys submitted questions. We're going a bit into we're going to go to the Christmas holiday first. I'm surprised you didn't start with Thanksgiving recap so we could move on from Thanksgiving.
8:34Well, I'm a bit fatigued by it because I hate talking about things in the past. OK. Do you know that about me? Yes. So I also like kind of hate talking about things in the future. I do I just love talking about things that are real and true But I'm okay to discuss Holiday things in the future Because these aren't hypotheticals These are things that are actually going to happen I don't like talking about hypotheticals So Christmas gifts So let me give you a scenario And you can tell me if you like talking about it Hold on, let me give them the rundown It was a joke It was a hypothetical What did you do the other day That I wanted to report on the podcast I can't remember.
9:15But all I know is this morning I made two pancakes, set them out on the counter and said to Harrison, well, I made like 10 pancakes. Bub's had some, you had some. Then I made two more and I put them on the counter and I said, these are my pancakes. But the problem is I set them in front of Tate and Harrison. That was my bad. I felt terrible. I couldn't believe. So just to explain how the kitchen works. So there's the stove and then there's a counter area beside the stove. then there's a sink and then there's a counter on the other side of the sink i was on the other side of the sink i was as far away from the stove as you can be in our kitchen normally when people cook they put the food on the counter beside the stove and you brought the can't cake pancakes to where i was standing to where tate and i were i a hundred percent thought they were for tate and me i thought you didn't want them you you clearly at one point said that you were saving these two pancakes for yourself but when they ended up in front of me i just i couldn't believe it and i didn't catch you i didn't catch you eating the first one i caught you on the last bite and i was like oh did you just eat those two pancakes it was a big mess i felt i felt very bad no it was really funny though because it just didn't matter um okay so christmas holiday traditions and flying flying with kids over the holidays kids schedule over the holidays and then a thanksgiving recap is buried in there question number four just for fun okay I didn't hear what you just said but let's roll okay the last bit I heard everything else guys let's talk about neutrophil I can say that my hair has never been the same since having a baby getting and getting pregnant again I've been postpartum I've been pre-partum it's like my hair is shedding you can truly see like that part of my bangs up front a bit broken off so here's a thoughtful gift for you if you are thinking of thoughtful gifts and it's becoming tougher each year.
11:07Neutrophil makes it easy. It's thoughtful, practical, and meaningful. Healthy, stronger hair is a gift that keeps on going long after the holiday season ends. So we're going to kind of cover all of this. So what are you guys getting Tate for Christmas?
12:30and Tate is 14 months old. Number one. Here's the thing. We are traveling during Christmas, right? So we're going to this ranch. Can we say the name? Do we say the name? Maybe not. Yeah, why not? Why not? We're going to ***, which is a ranch in Montana. We're very excited about it. We're so excited. Like, I'm so excited. They have Santa sleigh. We're going dog sledding. We're going ice fishing. Like it's very holiday. But with that being said, you can't travel there with like a giant stuffed animal, right? So the way we're doing bubs for Christmas is number one, everyone's getting holiday pajamas that match like we did last year.
13:21Love it. Number two, Bubz is going to get two toys and they're going to be equivalent to the egg carton that you open up and all the eggs come apart. She loves something like that or her switchboard, which is a busy board. So she's going to get two toys like that, that are small, kind of developmental, but like very fun for her. Like she'll want to play with them immediately. So those are the two things I'm going to take. Um, I'm going to wrap them when we get there because she loves to unwrap a present. And then we're going to talk about how we think about holiday traditions, but those are the two things Bubz is going to get from Santa while we're there.
13:58So pajamas and then two presents. Love it. And what are you getting her? I'm going to stick to my stock commentary. Okay, so let's talk about that because I don't know that a lot of people were here last year for this. I think beforehand, I think it was before she was born, I talked about the concept of giving children the gift of stocks in addition to one or two real life items. And the goal here being to promote education around personal finance and learning. And I stand by it. And so. So what are you doing? What stocks are you buying? Last year it was milk because she was Miss Milky. Yeah. Okay, so this year, can you buy your stock in Walmart?
14:47So this year we're going to do a little retail basket. So we're going to do shares of Amazon, Walmart, and Target. Okay, because Bubz loves a toy. And what I love about the theme, I want to do it in a theme. And that way we can look back at the shares we bought her. and we can look at, okay, why did we buy them? How did they perform? And yeah, I thought that those were topical for this year. We love those. We love those stores. I can't wait for the date you were going to buy Disney. Yeah, and Disney for sure will. Because she's so into Disney that she loves Disney and that's going to be the year we go to Disneyland, Disney World.
15:35So in summary, Bubz has her little stock portfolio and there'll be a day where she can understand that she has them and hopefully that day maybe she'll be like 10 12 and then we'll look back and say hey when you were one when you were two when you were three these are the ones we bought you this is why we bought you them and that'll be really fun for her yeah I think that's a great idea okay so the next question is thoughts on gifts for kids go all in or less is more. So one thing that Harrison and I talk a lot about is that we want the holidays to revolve around traditions and activities and not gifts.
16:19The specific day of Christmas, not a million gifts under the tree, a couple gifts under the tree. but then the things you look forward to is like we make cinnamon rolls as a family or you know we always go out on a giant walk or we make hot cocoa and we go like memories and moments like that that are tradition based not the presents exactly it's all about creating special moments because i think i think lots of gifts like well i think that i think what's important to realize right now is like we get to set the precedent early right bubs is one years old we've got another kid on the way like what we do now is what i think we'll do hopefully forever you know we're building it and with grandparents even what we want to do with them is say hey one gift here's a price limit and so we kind of control it like that so it's not tons and tons of just gifts gifts gifts and then the holiday becomes or centered centered around gifts it's like no christmas eve we get in the car and we go look at lights yeah we make we come on we make cookies for Santa we put them out and like that we always watch the same movie like that's the joy of it for sure and I recognize like this definitely saying it in this way is like coming from a position of privilege um but yeah I I we're both completely aligned on on the holidays not being about materialistic things and about being around family giving back and special moments and friends one thing so some somebody asked how do you make magic around the holidays yep and for me that answer was surrounding yourself with people and like planning things to do with them and like building with your community being around family being around friends going and doing things and i think that really creates the magic yeah and i think what one of the things that this country does so well is the way it leans into the holidays like the amount of christmas markets that exist like the the list of of holiday bars that we have to go Austin that like decorate over the top like it just gives you an excuse to go and get out and create uh create memories and and um and special moments we were it's also though did you look at that thing I dm'd you about the Christmas town in College Station I saw I saw College Station yeah because I googled I googled Christmas towns in Texas and College Station popped up as the number one yeah which i don't know how far away college station is from here one hour 46 minutes wow so maybe we go and so i feel like the holidays give you an excuse to um to take on like a different type of activity and create a new type of memory and the last thing that i've never like that i really love that we're doing and and um i love how your family did it is decorating the house in terms of back to the point of making how to make the holidays magical decorating the house walking in you know how we saw that we had the pumpkins and the little fall decorations like i love that and and our our holiday and christmas decoration plans for the house i think are are super sweet and then you just like have this joy when you walk in well i guess that kind of ties into buying things so buy the things we only got to buy them once hopefully you only got to buy them once my aunt had this phenomenal garland yep i ordered four of them we'll have them forever she's had them for 20 years so we will have these forever i'm so excited about them they were on sale i got them on black friday you got them i got them i ordered them and then the other thing is every morning in december if the one thing our house is missing please fireplace it's brutal in December because you can't hang your stockings on it you can't sit in front of the fireplace and drink your cup of coffee but I do have our Christmas mugs I may have an idea for where a fireplace can go where because like speaking of decorating you know and then we're gonna have to explain how Santa gets in the house that's going to be a whole thing.
20:44Front door?
20:48How does Santa get in a house when there's no chimney? Front door? Does he come, does he use the door? He uses Zoom. He zooms in? Yeah, he video conferences us. How does he deliver the gifts? Are we going to do Santa? We have to do Santa. Santa's great. Santa's phenomenal. But how does he get in the house if there's no fireplace? He comes in through the stove. Oh, he comes in through the vena hood. Yes. good job okay so we'll leave the cookies and milk there yes for him yes okay but I do think when we're traveling we have a fireplace last year we traveled to Park City and we had a fireplace in our room and this year we're gonna have a fireplace okay so we're good Santa can get in it's so tough I almost didn't know what to do and we had cookies last year how old were you when you learned Santa didn't exist I was 11 and we were in a movie I actually think Santa exists so I want to take that back I completely agree.
21:41Like I completely agree. I think Santa exists. So that's number one. But when I realized he didn't come to my house on Christmas and put the presents there, I was 11. We were in a movie theater. And I remember I just looked over my dad and I was like, hold on, hold on. Is Santa real or not? And my dad was like, that's something you got to decide. And I was tortured. I was like, what do you mean I got to decide? I don't remember when I found out But I remember like I knew That people Like I knew that people thought That this dynamic existed And it didn't You knew it didn't Yeah Okay Because I don't know I mean the listener to know You grew up Jewish You're Jewish Yeah So I think like that's important context If they're like what do you mean he knew Oh yeah that's actually really good context Yeah Okay interesting So yeah we'll do the Santa Claus thing um magic around the holidays we did that okay it's just funny because it's just a bit of a 180 okay that we make here well quick shift to no let's do this sorry this makes sense in the context how do you split holidays with the in-laws so i think about it this way there's three holidays right you've got thanksgiving christmas new years the idea and like i think this year we have a perfect world do you agree totally we've got one with my family one with harrison's family one where we travel so thanksgiving was my family um christmas we travel and we go from there up to whistler in vancouver with his family for the new year and that to me now is it always going to be that exact thing no but some version of one one and travel is ideal like i am obsessed with going to new york one year for thanksgiving and going to the macy's parade like that's a big dream of mine so like maybe one year that's our travel yeah and so I just think ideally we hit somehow in the the three like that do you agree for sure I and and this year's lineup I think came together really really nicely and I think I like when I like looked at kind of what the game plan was kind of mid-november for the rest of the year I was like all right this is a good plan and And yeah, it's like Thanksgiving was awesome.
24:00And I like look at the next 31 days and they seem pretty awesome too. I mean, it's amazing that we get to go to New York this week because New York during Christmas is tap the vein for me. Like I cannot explain my level of excitement. I think it's magic walking those streets. It's supposed to snow on Thursday. I'm ecstatic. The other thing I love is Austin to me is not super cold. It's cold today, but I love a season change and everywhere we go is farther north. So that's exciting. The only time that I don't love Austin is over that Christmas holiday week. So we travel. Yeah. We solved it. I completely agree.
24:40I saw something on Instagram today that said Austin was voted one of the most festive towns. Well, it has to overcompensate for the weather. Yeah, but it's just like that. I don't know. I'd love to see the source of that. Orange County does the same thing. They make it so festive because it's warm-ish, like you're on the beach. 28:14The stuffing, which was so good. So I've made you that stuffing one time last year. I don't think you remember. I didn't have the recipe right. I do remember. And I remember very well. I under seasoned it. Tasted very, very different in person from the real deal. I mean, it was a completely different recipe. Now I got a refresher on making it. I'm ready to make it again. Like I'm ready for somebody to say. It was so good. Can you bring stuffing? And I'm going to be like, I sure can. yeah we just had we just had a blast with my family with my parents with both sides it was just great we also got super lucky on the travel side where like we flew out Tuesday and out on Friday and like weirdly the airport was just dead I was ready for something no lines everything ran on time the people on our flights were so nice except i guess we should say this for the thursday episode we had a bit of a no i just think we do it now i think saving things is bad you know what i'm talking about yes i always say i always say never save an outfit i don't think we can save this topic because it's just so it's so applicable right now okay so never notice so many kids on a plane as on the flight there and on the flight back just unlimited amounts of kids families all working together is great are you talking about the cat or the team mom i'm talking about the cat not teen team team player mom he laughed i think she thought i said teen mom i love a teen mom p but i'm a team like a team player mom so i we sit down in our seats and i smell pee on this airplane we sit down on our airplane seats and i just smell pee and so i'd sniff bubs it's not bubs and i just i cannot escape this smell and then we're like 25 minutes into the flight and I'm like my throat is a little itchy and my eyes were like a little itchy and then I hear a meow and I'm like there's a cat below me there's a cat so I check under the I look under the seat and there is a cat below me I'm a I'm lightly allergic to cats I a cat can't sleep in my room and if a cat gets on my clothes somewhere it gets me if I was my dad in that seat he he it would ruin his flight and his next four days like he's that allergic to cats and I think a lot of people are allergic to cats and so I think I thought to myself if you're gonna bring a cat on the plane that smells like pee I think you gotta disclose to the people around you like hey is anyone allergic to cats I didn't realize you could bring cats on planes I'd never thought about it I knew you could bring dogs on planes I'd never most people aren't allergic to dogs i think i think i think cat allergies far outweigh what i realized that just are there more cat allergies than dog allergies i've never ever had a bad experience with a dog on a plane me neither and people are allergic to cats than dogs yeah i think like i know a lot of people are allergic to cats so i just thought i was like whoa i can't be the only one i'm mildly allergic but if this flight was longer than 45 minutes like i had to go to the bathroom a lot because I needed to get up and get away from it.
31:33Jules, I feel like you're our animal expert here. What do we think of this? I mean, how's Jenny supposed to get home? You're good with dogs on planes? I'm totally good with dogs on planes. And the driver of that is twofold. One, I've heard what it's like for them underneath the plane, which apparently isn't very nice. secondarily though i've also never had a bad experience with a dog on a plane dogs they somehow are just so well behaved on planes this cat was not poorly behaved but i think the problem is i think a good amount of people are allergic to cats yeah so that's why i'm asking jules what do we think about cats on planes i mean i'm not a cat guy so that's a lot of people so is the rule only dogs on planes?
32:23Is that what needs to happen? You can take any service animal on a plane. Dogs, cats, bunnies. There's an array of animals. But I'm great with the bunny on the plane. Jules, give me a take here. I think people are, a lot of people... I have to take. I'm just not a cat guy. Are you good with cats on planes? I'm good with cats being banned from planes. Whoa. she said it not me she said it p what's your vote cats on planes or no i love all animals so i'm fine with it but i'm also allergic see two of us in here being allergic to cats i think a lot of people are allergic to cats it says 30 percent of people 30 percent of people yeah so 30 percent of people are allergic to cats i think that i'm good with you bringing the cat i didn't say one thing to them I just handled it myself of course that's fine but I do think a little hey just checking just letting you guys know we've got a cat below here it was southwest we could have all changed seats and I would have said okay you know what we're gonna go to different but then you're creating like in in the zoo of thanksgiving travel like a um like a chess game of who's sitting where based off the cats what if I was severely allergic though a little heads up would have been good yeah I like felt it in in my throat yeah I was like oh oh man so that was that was a thing now the other thing I want to talk about on the flight is a team player mother there was a mom traveling with three kids one was seven months old one was three and one was five from the jump this woman you could just tell she was incredible she was incredible and like she was a team player of a mom and she didn't have her husband with her.
34:13She was married because she was talking about her husband, but she was traveling alone. They had a family emergency. She said it wasn't a big deal, but... It was a work thing, I believe. Oh, okay. They needed to get to Austin and they traveled in two different groups. So she's got her three kids with her. She needed to go to the bathroom twice. She had the girl behind her. Like the girl behind her was very friendly. She gets up to go to the bathroom. She's like, will you hold the baby? The baby will not cry. The girl was like, I would love to hold the baby. The mom behind her held the baby. Baby didn't cry one time.
34:39Smiled the whole time. happiest baby I've ever seen and then she got up to go to the bathroom again and she said hey the baby's asleep right here can somebody sit in my chair to make sure she doesn't fall and I said there's a cat beside me I will sit in your chair so I hopped up and I sat in her chair and I was like that's a team player mom that's a mom who will help you and is not afraid to ask for help because a lot of times people want to help and they'll tell you that yeah and it just made the flight like bubs wanted to run around so she stuck her son over by bubs and was like hey go play with tate like she was great this mom then like on on holiday travel she's the girl i want beside me watching her navigate the three strollers was also incredible i was like this mom's got to be overwhelmed and i had her pegged wrong yeah she was like i was waiting for the stroller with her i was like i was like how can i help you and she's like i've got this she's like i gotta get from here to another gate she's like i she's like i've got my program and she was off she had her program yeah she was confident too she looked at me said you got another one on the way i was like yep and most people would not guess that out loud but good for you and you are correct yes i do have another one on the way she's like what do you do i was like april she was like it's gonna be great and i just like if they're like yours and then somebody asked her are you gonna have a fourth she said nope and the reason i'm not having a fourth is these three are great and i know i'll get a little shit if i have a fourth and i just loved her like she was so cool yeah Yeah, I'm glad we followed up the cat hate story with that awesome mom story.
36:10No, our holiday travel experience over Thanksgiving was people were helpful, people were polite, and it was awesome. The cat was not awesome, but other than that. I'm flying with a one-year-old for Christmas and I'm nervous. Same. it's flying is easier when they are three four months old they they nap they sleep a lot they can't walk they don't want to run around i don't know if your one year old's walking but when kids walk they want to run all over the airplane parent advice that we got that could not be more true has was travel as much as you can in the first 12 months because after 12 months everything changes and oh boy are we feeling that it's hard now our flight that we just took to Oklahoma City was 45 minutes in the air that's the max we can do because we don't do screens yet I don't even know if a one-year-old or a 14 months old I don't even know if a screen would solve the problem I don't know if they can comprehend it yet but snacks are really helpful yeah snacks are a big big big one busy boards are a big one fidget spinners are a big one endless amounts of new toys they haven't seen really help because it keeps them occupied but at the end of the day they want to run around the airplane yeah it is it is night and day versus like traveling with her at six seven months and people told us that i was like no yeah and then we got there and i was like oh my gosh because the reality of it is on the way to the airport they were in the car seat through security they were being held in some capacity yeah and they want those little legs to run and they can't on a four-hour flight yeah so guess what so the person that wrote in and said i'm traveling with the one-year-old over the holidays and i'm nervous we're traveling with the 14-month-old over the holidays we're nervous we're just nervous like we were looking at our flight times on the way here none of them are during nap time and i was just like oh that's But hey, you just do it.
39:09Yep. And whatever. The other thing I noticed was we were in line boarding and Bubz was in high spirits. She was running around to other kids, high fiving them, trying to hug them. And there was a kid beside us that was like having a hard time. And I thought, I hope this mom knows like any moment, Bubz is also going to have a hard time. Like it's just a matter. No kid is perfect traveling the whole time. Right. Maybe when their ears are popping on the way up or down. Maybe halfway through the flight, they want to run around. So you do get these glimpses of like, well, that kid's not doing it. That's not the reality.
39:47You didn't see the whole day. You just saw them for a moment. It's also such a unique dynamic because on our last flights, people were so nice. They were so nice. So nice. But, or not but, I think when you look at why, it's because everything, the airport wasn't hectic. And the flights are running on time. So like if that, if like we're five, six hours delayed. Meltdowns. I would. Losing your mind. No, I'm saying like everyone was really nice to her. Yeah, but tensions get high traveling during the holidays. Yeah. Because you're traveling more. You're traveling with kids. Yeah. So I'm just saying we got lucky on that flight, on those flights.
40:31Well, our flights were 45 minutes. Yeah. catch bubs on a three-hour flight when we go to whistler it's gonna be hard yeah for sure and like i i'm just saying when you do see a kid have a good flight or something like i do hope everybody knows all kids at some point they have a hard time yeah oh for sure like we've had it so we have them all the time yeah so give yourself grace and just know you're not the only one nervous flying because it's it's hard okay next question is how to handle a kid's schedule during the holidays you don't handle it that's what we learned on thanksgiving like we do our best you do your best you do your best but like you don't get so give yourself give ourselves grace no we i love the way we handled it like she got up early one morning she took her nap early one day she took two naps we're down to one nap and it was just no problem i didn't realize how much of a schedule and routine we were in until we took her out of it.
41:30But there'll be a couple times a year that we do that. What's the word you say about being kind to yourself? Give yourself grace? You say something else that I really like. I don't know. Yeah, maybe it's just give yourself grace. Don't be hard on yourself? But like if, I mean, our Christmas plans or general holiday plans, like those are keeping a schedule during that's going to be very, very hard. Well, you're on the road and you're not at home and everything's off. And like. But it's so funny how. Sorry, I got you off. It's OK. Last year, like her schedule was so like casual and in a flow of things.
42:12She was like three and four months old, though. I know. But it's amazing how much things change in 12 months. So now she's like she's on such a program. The one pretty constant was bedtime. like we we because she just gets tired around seven and sometimes she was having so much fun she was up till 7 30 but like she woke up early her naps were off but it was great that her naps were off because she napped early one day and then she got to come to my mom's side thanksgiving which typically she would have naps through so like it all worked out but i do think like i was really proud of us for just being like no problem like no problem yeah the airport throws you off like it all just kind of throws you off yeah and especially because like we didn't talk about it beforehand we didn't talk about like hey keeping her schedule is going to be tough and i like that we were both on the same page of like just okay right so i'll just we'll we'll do our best and make sure she's in and i do have this thought i think kids can sense um like parents energy i really think they like vibe off of it we i totally agree so i think that us if we got really tense about her schedule and we're like trying to force something i think she would feel that but I think she also equally felt us being like no problem and then it was no problem yeah everywhere you look right now people are talking about weight loss medications it's the buzz at brunch your group chats and even at the doctor's office but how do you even know if weight loss medications are for you enter hers hers is transforming women's health care by providing access to weight loss treatment plans for every budget they connect you with a medical provider who will work with you to determine the best option for you.

One of the biggest newest things that she's doing is like when we hug now, she'll come and like stand in between our legs when we're hugging or when we kiss, she'll want to come and give us kisses. So we do Bezos and when we give each other kisses, then she'll want to come over and do it with us and it's the sweetest, cutest thing on the planet. I have a really, really cute video of it that maybe we'll put on the internet. Well, and the thing about it is, it does show kids are always watching.
45:09So actually one episode that I'm like really wanting to do, but I want to do a lot of prep for it is how, at what age do your conversations and like the tone you talk to each other in and the way you interact with your partner in front of your kid, what age does that impact them? And then second, how you interact with each other, how does that impact them? So if you talk to each other really kindly, like when do they start to absorb that and notice and feel the vibe? Cause I think that's a really real thing that we're seeing with her. For sure. Like when we hug, she's like, yeah. Like she just gets so excited.

45:47Yeah. It would be cute to tap into her brain and understand what does she think us two are. Like she knows we're mom and dad. But what does that mean? Is that like warmth and comfort for her? Does she know like that we made her? What does she know about mom and dad? I have no idea. But I know that she loves you so much. and I know like she really pays attention to what we're doing. She loves you so. She's in such a dada phase right now, you guys. She is in such a dada. Or actually, it's dada. She's in a dada phase. Today we were at the store. We were on two separate sides of the shoe section and I was at one side and I pointed and I said, dada's over there.
46:30And those little leggies just stomped all the way over and then she goes up to her, she goes, uppies? And that means she wants to be lifted up. Yeah, I don't know how she learned up. Uppies. It's so cute. Sometimes she'll be in her car and she'll be like up and we're like, you can't get out of that, honey. Stuckies. Stuck in there. So cute. Okay. Holiday traditions you hope to start. I'm taking this one because you've taught me something that I love. Last year we did a turkey trot. I was very anti-turkey trot because there's, you know, the common social media trend of I married into a turkey trot family.
47:04It was so fun. I've fully flipped on turkey trots I think they're a great way to start the morning also vibes at a turkey trot they're phenomenal they're through the roof it's amazing it's marathon energy people are loving it when we were going to Oklahoma City we were like should we look for a turkey trot because now that's kind of our thing and then you take traditions that are your families you know our inner little family and implementing them when we go to our families, our other families, and saying, okay, so we're doing the turkey trot, so then we get up, we do the turkey trot, but then we go back and we make my dad's stuffing.
47:45So it's a bit of a blend of everybody's traditions, which I love us doing that. So then no matter where we are for Thanksgiving, we always look for a turkey trot. Yes. I'm not in turkey trot. My vibe is not turkey trot this year because we don't know what day I'm going to be sick, But I liked the idea of doing that. Yeah. And instead I took it for a little run. Yeah. So Harrison did Harrison did get up and do his own turkey trot, which was really cute. Yeah. I think my general mindset on this is because we're so like we're just starting this family is going into every holiday, go into it with the mindset of creating special moments and then let those special moments turn into traditions.
48:33And so I think some things we do and they'll stick every year. Some things will be one and done. And then I think the way we're doing it, like we're both, we both love the, we both love all holidays so much from Easter to Thanksgiving and beyond that like, I think we're just going to wake up in five years and there'll be things that we've done every year for the past five years. and there's things that that we'll never do again but with but with the general mindset of like hopefully in 20 years we wake up and um there's like a long list of unique quirky things some small some big that that we do and i also think it's like super super super important like finding that balance of us creating our own new traditions but like also really really leaning into traditions that um that have come from generations before you i agree i love leaning into to traditions i but it goes in line with i love that hopefully all of our kids middle names will be family names like that's the stuff from both of our lineages that i love to pull from because i just think it's such a big part of who you are and you don't realize it when you're 18 you're like whatever my grandma makes this salad but then you're like this is so cool that she's always made it you know yeah and like just embracing that so i agree i think there's a lot of traditions that you don't even we don't even think of as traditions like decorating the house totally totally agree and that's why it's something that i want to do every year and i think that will be kind of on the lowest hanging fruit of what we do and and then there'll be more unique things totally whether it be workouts morning of or like this year we didn't do last year we did the costumes remember no like i for thanksgiving i like cooked the stuff and i turned her her stroller because i told her i turned her stroller into at uh an oven an oven and had like a tate was a turkey i had gravy on there i had pie and like that is the getting dressed up over thanksgiving i hope and the night before thanksgiving i wore that fun jacket yeah I do hope that that in some way turns into a tradition, even if we didn't do it this year.
51:02I totally agree. It was very fun. Because that's not what this year was about. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, I agree. I agree. That's all I have to say about all that. I agree. Cosign. If I said anything more, I would just be repeating you. Okay. How do you guys divide different religions when it comes to holidays? For example, Christmas and Hanukkah. The answer to that is we celebrate both. We decorate for both. And we make it all one big jolly season. Yeah, I think it's important that both sides feel, both sides of the families feel respected. Respected, but also I think it's so cool. Every time I say this, I get so many messages from people that grew up like this.
51:50And they loved it. They absolutely loved celebrating Christmas and Hanukkah because it's a season for them. And this is how I hope it is for bubs too. It's a season of joy, thankfulness, family, giving, and just happiness. Right. Exactly. And I think when it comes to embracing both sides, it's just a, I don't want to say richer experience because it's a rich experience no matter what. Right. Yep. And a fulfilling experience. But listen, I think I love religion in general. I think it's super cool. Bubz is going to get to experience both. And I'm also equally excited to do it that way. And I know you are too.
52:33Yeah, absolutely. So yeah, we're going to do both. We did it last year. We loved it. It's awesome. The neighbors actually want to get in on Hanukkah this year. They were telling me. They were Googling about it. What? Look at that. Why don't we get them a menorah? good idea why don't we do that or dreidel we have by the way i was thinking about this we need to get that pillow dreidel out okay we have it and the menorah yeah well we still haven't done our we haven't got our christmas stuff out decorations we did this whole song and dance last week about how we were gonna get our christmas stuff out clock is ticking and i Every day matters now.
53:16You don't have to tell me. I agree. I feel like that responsibility falls on me. It does. I can't get the tree out. We got a big tree. It's in the basement, no? Of course, neighbor T goes and cuts his tree himself. Of course he does. Does he actually? Well, he made a comment about going and getting the tree and putting it in the caddy. I was like, of course you don't use a plastic one from the internet. No, he gets a real tree. Are you kidding me? He slugs it over his shoulder. He does the Clark Griswold. He takes it out there. Saws it down. No, I do think they just go to a tree farm and get it.
53:55Do they have the types of Christmas trees in Texas? Do those grow here? Yeah. Well, I don't know if they grow here, but they have a tree farm. We drove by it on the way back. Well, I know they have tree farms, but I meant... Those trees exist in British Columbia in a big way. Oh, yeah, 100%. I think most people in BC cut their own... You can cut your own tree if you want it. Yes, in East Texas and the Hill Country. Wow, in the Hill Country. Wow. You could carve down a Christmas tree. Found a new little potential getaway for us in the Hill Country, too. Really? Tell us. It's going to be a secret.
54:28You don't want to tell the class? No. No, no, no. Why? Because this is a surprise for you. Oh, that's fun. Okay. and I haven't fully I haven't got a feel for the bug situation and so I need to make sure the bug situation isn't bad for you bugs are scary for me I just want to let everybody know that the one thing we didn't touch on is the toy drive and here's what I'm going to say about it we're attempting to plan a toy drive and I'm just giving you the most real time update ever that I possibly could about that because we don't have it like we're trying to do December 13th and we're trying to start it at 10 or noon.
55:09We're going to look at a venue tomorrow. We're talking to nonprofits. Like, we have two weeks to stand it up. I hope we can do it. But we wanted to have a holiday party of some capacity. And then we were like, let's do a toy drive. So we are trying to do that. But I don't want to say we're doing that because the invite hasn't gone out yet. But we're doing our best to make it happen. We're like really trying to do it. So we'll keep you posted on that. But my goal, so we leave for New York Tuesday morning. My goal is to send out the invite on that plane. So tomorrow we're going to tour another venue and I really hope that we solidify it.
55:43So keep you posted guys, because we will open it up to the public to come. Okay guys. Well, that's our holiday Q and A. Thank you for listening. Thank you for listening.
