In short

The episode centers on learning and celebrating the baby’s confirmed gender (it’s a boy), plus pregnancy updates, nursery/house planning, and a “bicker of the week” about packing luggage on beds. They also discuss IRL life: attending a wedding in Oklahoma City, travel debates (direct flight vs connecting), and a father-son trip to the World Series.

Guest backgrounds

No podcast guests appear. The hosts are “Two Parents and a Podcast” (Alex, Harrison, and Jules are referenced as co-hosts/participants).

Key claims

The hosts say the boy diagnosis was confirmed via at-home Sneak Peek test, OB blood test, and ultrasound (they call it “allegedly” at first). They claim nausea is worsening despite the “boy = less nausea” stereotype. They also claim multiple gender “wives’ tales” point to boy (carrying low, cold feet, salty cravings, etc.), and they argue etiquette around asking someone how much Bitcoin they own.

Notable examples

Oklahoma City wedding at “Bomberhof” with a seated family-style dinner; crypto etiquette story at the table; gender reveal via neighbor balloon setup (pink and blue balloons, pink removed, leaving blue); nursery plan: Bubz moves to the pink wallpaper room, boy nursery in Bubz’s current room, guest room becomes playroom.

That's O-L-L-Y dot com. Okay, we're going to do a pivot right now. Are we recording? We are recording. Because we are in the thick of a conversation that has not been settled. and I actually think the internet's opinion on this would be interesting. Okay. And that is, would you rather fly direct or deal with an hour Uber from Newport to LA? No, no, no. You said it wrong. Would you rather fly direct and deal with an hour Uber from Newport to LA or connect but have a nine-minute Uber to the airport?

1:35Correct. Because that is our current debate. So that. And an hour Uber from Newport to LA is not the equivalent of an hour drive in Oklahoma City or Texas. So let's call it an hour and a half. It's a tragic seven lane highway. Let's pull it up. Of debauchery. And start, stop, you're at the mercy of the. Like I'm car sick. It is a no brainer to fly out of LAX and go direct. John Wayne Airport is the cleanest, smallest, most pleasant airport on the planet. And if I have to stop in Phoenix, I'm fine with it. And I'll do anything to minimize my Ubers. I get so car sick. Yeah, I mean, this is just...

2:18I'll do anything to not connect. And I would rather fly out of John Wayne. But like, what? Why? LAX is the worst airport in the United States. So is it an LAX thing? Or is it a traffic thing? I hadn't been to LAX in a couple of years, and I texted Priscilla the last time we were there. I was like, never again. LAX is the worst airport. So how much of it is LAX versus the hour and a half ride? Both. It's both. Okay. For me, it's just all about LAX. I don't want to go. Yeah, I would Uber from LA to Orange County to fly out of John Wayne, I think. But I think that the time, all in, it's going to be about the same amount of time.

2:56It is. Harrison's like, I'm going to land an hour earlier. I'm like, but you're going to leave an hour earlier. but the downtime every man for himself yeah we're all three booking different flights is this going to be our first time that i mean to book a separate flight as your partner is a wild move and i guess that's what we're doing yeah you're leaving me i will get carsick in that ride if i'll be i doubt i doubt that ends up happening yeah i foresee harrison going on the john wayne flight me too Just complaining about it the entire time. Glad we settled that. I'm extra carsick these days. All right, guys.

3:35Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents and a Podcast. Two parents and two pods with a gender reveal. A gender that has been revealed. How about that? So we knew a little longer than you guys knew. And it was really sweet and special for just the family to know for a second. it i loved it loose lips alex no loose lips harrison thank you what you told me randomly telling everyone you wanted to tell me live on the pod yeah what the heck when i went um i went and met some friends on saturday and they were like oh it's and it was like um a lot of but it was both guys and girls. And I walked in that are friends of Alex and mine.

4:30And I walked in and all the girls are like, oh, it's a boy. Aren't you so excited? I'm like. How do you know? How do you know? I told them. We barely even told the listeners that it's a boy. It's a boy. Oh my goodness. It's a boy. It's a B-O-Y. So we got a girl and a boy. We're going to talk all about it. We have some cute questions that we're going to talk through. The house situation. Who's, what's rooming? Are they sharing your own, blah, blah, blah. blah um but first the first thing we're going to talk about is that we went we'll do IRL right so let's do it our IRL we went to a wedding we've been on the travel circuit we went to a wedding in Oklahoma City um it was so much fun I didn't think I was very nervous I was like am I gonna to be able to go because I was throwing up on the way there.

5:24But I went, we had a great time. We saw so many friends, so many family. The venue was incredible. It was beautiful. The venue was a 10. It was, it's like this place in Oklahoma city called the Bomberhof, which is modeled after restoration hardware in Napa, which is really, really cool. And you loved the meal. I like something that they did specifically with the meal at the wedding at the wedding okay tell us where they did family style and so you got to control your your desired portions and i loved it and the food was amazing but i also love like i could i could lean a little more into into some parts of the food and a little less into the into others do you know what i loved about the family style please logistics so they had a menu on the table so we knew what all food was coming okay but sometimes at weddings they course it out yeah so you have your salad then you have your appetizer then you have your main course so your dinner's really long this logistically was great because like your meal was out there you knew how much you could eat and then you were done and they did a combination of two things they had a seated dinner with a seating chart yes and so and down and sometimes there's sometimes you have a an assigned table like your table number nine so we had our assigned table but then when you got to the table you also had a seated seat.

6:41So it was a true seated dinner, but it was family style, which I thought made for an amazing hybrid. I agree. I totally agree. It was perfectly executed. Important clarification on the seating and the seating chart. Yeah. It was a seated dinner that was family style. So it was really, really, really cool. So yeah, it was a blast. I have a potential observation. Okay. What? it i find often when we have a big event like your sickness kind of like pulls like forward and then like when you get to the events you're like locked in and thriving and like right when we leave you like kind of get sick again well this is what i told sydney because like we had the ceremony we had the cocktail hour and we had the dinner and she came over to our table and was talking to me and she's like how you doing I was like it's wearing off like the adrenaline because it had been three hours at that point and I was like I think if I stand up like it's not gonna be good and so I will I like it did subside but then I was like I hit my point yes and so you're right like it does like it knows when to give me a break um but then it like last night we had people over we had some people on the block over and like I could make it through dinner but at the very end of dinner I had to go lay on the couch like it does it comes I went to go find you and uh last night and like I was walking up the stairs and I couldn't even make it to my bed to my surprise there you were just these are our new neighbors snoozing on the couch it was very like inappropriate of me but they're so cool that they didn't care um okay so at the dinner Harrison was seated by these guys that mine crypto.

8:22And I... Bitcoin miners. I had a... What do we want to call it? A manners... I had an etiquette error at this wedding and at this seated dinner because the guy Harrison was sitting by, he mines crypto and Bitcoin. Okay, he mines Bitcoin. So he's telling me like I mine Bitcoin and I know a little bit about what he does. And then I said, oh my gosh how many bitcoin do you have and his face kind of like freezes and luckily harrison sitting in the middle of us and harrison's like you can't ask that that's the equivalent of asking somebody like how much money's in your bank account and i was like oh my gosh duh because a bitcoin right now equals 110 000 like there is a monetary value assigned to it so if i ask him how many he has he says he has 10 well you can do the math on that where where this whole thing became hilarious to me is like when you know i kind of said yeah you're not allowed to ask someone that and you know you walked through the rationales to why your response to me was it's like you wouldn't ask a cattle rancher how many cattle they own and i sat there being like well i actually think i would like and so like if i was talking to a guy and he's like yeah i own a i own a cattle ranch i i got some cattle it would be a very like natural question oh awesome how many cattle do you have not to price it up but just like out of curiosity to understand the um the operation that that that they're running and so like it's it's i find like the it's a great parallel where like in theory the questions you know actually are kind of fair but in reality they're they're an etiquette foul you wouldn't say like um what are you invested in um index funds is that an answer okay how much do you have in the index funds you would never be like i have 70 000 yeah but you would tell some like it but here's where it it gets a little nuanced i would tell someone like how many stores flock is sold in but nobody knows how much those stores pay you but i didn't like know how much but and that's the point it's it's very hard to figure that out do they sell one flavor do they sell four flavors like not all stores sell the same amount club sells more than traditional so like but if you own 50 000 shares of williams you and we know what williams stock is at then we know how much you have totally but like i didn't pin like that there It was a true market value to what a cow, what a cattle would trade at.

11:02That's what I'm saying. Like, I just need to understand how you just pulled that out of thin air. Because I think that the same way that Bitcoin is like a easily identified price, cattle does. Cattle and land. It's like asking how many acres do you have and then how many cows do you have? It's like how many stocks do you have? Well, we learned. And then you get back into the price of cattle. You know, it's like I think John Dutton taught me that. Is that the Yellowstone guy? Yes. Kevin Costner. That's the guy. I know. I need to, I don't know. I'd like to re-watch that show. Did you watch it? I kind of think I got like a season or so in.

11:44There's no way you only got one season and then like faded into the abyss. I think I wanted to watch it with you. I've already watched it. You already watched it. 15:11Jules and I are not. I am actually flying separate to you though. Because why? What are you doing? Because I guess relevant to this episode, my dad and I are having a father son moment. Doing what? We're going to the World Series. Are you so excited? Yeah. Whose idea was it? But it was my idea because him and I and our collective family, but largely him and I, we have a ton of memories growing up, going to different sporting events. And I think the first ever father-son trip we ever took was to spring training in Tucson, Arizona. And I would have been in elementary school at the time. And so baseball as an activity has served as a big memory maker for us.

16:07Like, you know, take me to Cal Ripken's baseball school during the summer. Why baseball, not hockey? Baseball, is that random for you guys? You went to the Browns game with them, not Browns. Well, we've been to a lot of different sporting events, but baseball is the one that's most consistent. He coached me in baseball. He also coached me in soccer, but he coached me in baseball for longer. Okay. And I think that part of it is like he's into baseball and he's good at baseball. Like he never played hockey. Okay. Okay. So baseball is his thing. Okay. It's not as like doing, you know. And you just love an event.

16:48I love an event. So you're kind of, you don't have much of a preference as long as you're doing something, you're happy. Yeah, but baseball holds a... A dear memory. Yeah. So you guys are going to go to the baseball game. Yeah. And then you're going to come to Orange County. I'm going to come to Orange County after the game. Love it. But I'm going to go to LAX and I'm going to connect in Phoenix to get to Newport. No, you're going to Uber. Okay, so the game will be really, really, really fun. And now I want to talk about how we told our parents about the gender because you kind of used this game.

17:25Well, okay, hold on. Yeah, tell us how you told your dad first. But it's ironic because you told your dad. I told my dad, he was like, should I pick up some merch for the game? Because he was in it. It's the Toronto team. It's the Toronto team. In Canada, just generally we stand behind our teams, even if it's not your city. So Canada stands behind the Blue Jays. and I was like yes can you go to Sport Check which is our equivalent of Dick's Sporting Goods sportcheck.ca not.com I'm mad at the.ca I'll tell you about it later and see if they have this jersey and I sent them a picture of the Jays jersey and we can put it online here and instead of saying Blue Jays it says it's a boy did he catch it?

18:15yeah he got it I wouldn't have been surprised though if he didn't like the only way he wouldn't have caught it if it was like oh he wants me to get like the the standard blue jersey well that's what i was thinking you would do just like yeah i got it like he wants the jersey yeah but he did catch it yeah okay cute so harrison told his dad that way my mom wanted to know immediately and i thought she was going to be in town when we got the results but she wasn't so i called her told her she just was like the classic just tell me so i just told her your mom and my dad didn't my dad did not want to know he was like I'll just find out like at some point but like don't tell me and then at the wedding this past weekend a lot of my mom's friends were asking like what's the gender and I was just telling them and then and I didn't tell any of them not to say anything because I just at this point I'm like whatever and one of them naturally went up to my parents and was like I'm so excited Alex is having a boy and my dad was like okay good to know my mom was like I already know and then with your mom she came to the doctor with us she didn't know we wanted to tell her in a cute way we want you wanted to mail her and your dad a package I wanted everyone to find out via mail via mail and like open it themselves that's what we bleeped on a prior episode is I wanted unannounced mail to show up and just say it's a boy or it's a girl or something yeah um but we botched that with my mom then we botched it with my dad and we botched it with your mom too because we went to the doctor and the girl said do you know the gender i was like yeah it's a boy and then i was like oh your mom's face i was like what it's a boy so boy is more shocking than girl yeah we collectively thought it was a girl i think everyone thought it was a girl yeah like to say boy that's like oh the reaction's a little bit more intense than if it were a girl i think do you agree i think everyone thought it was a boy i think everyone thought it was a girl okay so i knew it was a girl i was positive i'm getting into the okay well we need to do pregnancy update really quickly and then we can get into me knowing it was a girl even though it wasn't and how many times I checked.

20:33Okay, the pregnancy update is I truly am trending backwards, which is ironic because it's a boy, which is why I just I say it's allegedly a boy. And they say you're less sick with a boy. I'm throwing I'm throwing up more now than I was two weeks ago. I do not know what's happening. Saturday morning, I had some berries. And then And I just get this like Saturday night too after I had that sausage. Like I just get this headache and this aching stomach ache. And it takes about an hour and then I can get it up. And once I get it up, I feel better. But I'm just throwing up a lot. And I'm getting these like bad headaches at night.

21:13So listen, this is my new thing. Like my body doesn't love being pregnant. But listen, I'm still so thankful to be pregnant. It's okay. It's just a season. but like people keep messaging me they're like try the ginger choose try Zofran none of it works I've tried it all I tried the C bracelets on my hand like it's a bit of a placebo for me Zofran everyone says like talk to your doctor and get Bongesta or Zofran or something so with Tate for a few weeks I did take the anti-nausea meds but at week three I got super sad and depressed and so we called my doctor and I was like what is happening and she was like no it wasn't my doctor one of my friends dm'd me remember because I posted yeah I thought it was it was a it was a commenter it was someone from Instagram yes yes yes it was they said hey I had the same thing as you and it turned out to be my anti-nausea meds because they can block your serotonin receptors and that's what was happening to me so I just cold turkey stopped taking them and slowly but surely like started to feel something again.

22:22And so your evenings are worse than they have been over the previous weeks. Are your mornings better or worse? My mornings are the same. My mornings have always been pretty good. Morning's my energy time. It's when I shower, I wash my hair. Like if there's anything I need to get done, I walk. I walk in my treadmill in my gym that Harrison built me that's the, like, do I not use that every single day? Yeah. Have we shown that gym on the internet yet? Can I listen to my rap music? No, not really. Maybe I'll do a TikTok video of the gym. Maybe. Alex's gym. I love it so much. Thank you for doing that for me.

23:04Of course. Harrison wanted to build out like a really cool bar. And I was like, listen, here's one thing I'll use every day is a gym and I use it every morning. It's my happy place. Well, the actual conversation was you said, I really want a treadmill. And I was like, okay, great. So let's make sure that you get a treadmill. And then I just, it was, I really wanted to like make that space an experience and not just have it be like a random treadmill and make it look like, because I find that in working out, like part of it is like the feeling of being there so I wanted you to like go down there and it just like have a great feel to it and so that's why we added the flooring and we added the punching bag and um the weight section we didn't do that you did that I have to give it to you like a lot of people not even guides this is not a gender specific thing I think a lot of people would say I want a treadmill and they would just stick a treadmill down there but not on your watch you're like we're gonna build this out and we're going to make it a true gym because you wanted the basement you want every area of our house to be like really cool I was so skeptical of any kind of remodel happening like I was like this is going to be a pain in the ass and our house is going to be halfway done and like it's just going to be annoying and we're going to be living through construction xyz like you have earned my full trust so like if you're going to do a job this basement situation like you took one room you made four rooms you built five walls you put in doors you fix the stairs we have a storage area like you get shit done thank you it's been it's been like so much fun sometimes it feels like beauty brands want us to own everything but honestly more isn't better when it comes to your face merit beauty flips the script with a less is more approach only products you actually need designed to make you look and feel your best self without all the fuss.

Like now I'm going to tell you, I want to redo a bathroom upstairs and I didn't I wanted to do less house projects but I didn't have the confidence in it and remember what I said I was like I want to start with one project and the one project I started with was the bar area upstairs and I was like okay that actually went one I enjoyed it and two I think it came out good and then we just like kept adding them on and so now I have the confidence like go and do something a little bigger it's a little addicting yeah I have some ideas for the upstairs now, too.

26:26Oh, phenomenal. I'm thinking like there's a wall coming. Where? I can't decide, but I need to show you. What do you mean? I think we can add a wall. Because one, I have some art that we need to hang somewhere else. And two, we need another TV. And three, like, I think we can break up the areas. Wait, on the middle floor? Yes, the main floor. Wow. I think we can make it. Like, last night, we had everybody over. They were sitting on the floor for a second. I'm telling you, we're too far away from the coffee table. You can't reach it. It's not comfortable yet. There's still work to be done. I thought you were talking upstairs.

27:01Nope. And then Bubz is eating. We're going to have to replace our rug. I'm letting go of the house. Bubz was eating watermelon and tomatoes on our white rug. And I just thought, let it go. She loves watermelon. But she was taking the whole watermelon and throwing it on the floor. Can I show you a video of her eating watermelon? No, that's disruptive to the episode. It's disruptive. Just hold it. We can insert it, maybe. I've been thinking this whole time that I forgot to tell you guys that my mom thought I was a boy the whole time. Because when she got her ultrasound or whatever, they said, do you want to know the gender?

27:37And she said, no, we don't want to know. And then she said, don't look. And my mom was like, well, there's nothing. There would only be something to look at if it was one gender. So when I was born a girl, it was a surprise. She didn't know. And she said, I finally got my girl. nori didn't know yeah so it could still be a girl no it's definitely a boy we've done a bunch of testing here so on that that's okay so let's see how many tests we've done so we'll move to the gender area and the first thing i want to say is i did the early detection test at home which can i say okay i'm really sorry to do this but the the company is called sneak peek they i have emailed them four times.

28:16I've commented on their actual photos being like, can somebody from your customer service, please contact me because we had a shipping problem. Anyways, I have four, I have four kits and I really want to talk to somebody there. But so I did the at-home gender test, but the thing about the at-home gender test is it's 99 % accurate, except if you get any of your partner's DNA on it. So you have to do the test when he's gone. So I did it while he was out working one day sat at our kitchen table I sanitized everything but there's still a chance that you get some of your partner's DNA on it so it'll say it's a male so I send in the kit and I get the early detection test and it comes back and it's like it's a boy and I'm like yeah like I doubt it's a boy because it's a girl so then I do the blood test at the OB's office and I get those results and it's like it's a boy and I'm like are we sure so then we go in for the ultrasound and I'm like is this a boy and she's like it's 100 % a boy so I still say allegedly but it's a boy and so I just felt like it was a girl and I'm so sick I was doing a funny pause thing there but um so here's my question have we said how we're feeling about it being a boy yet or no now's the part in the episode where we can talk because I was going to jump to for the next one would you think you'll want to do it as a surprise but that feels like a premature that feels like an out of line question versus like we finally know it's a boy how do you feel I'm so excited uh actually I have to say I'm very excited but it's very similar to when we were having Tate the first time it's a lot of unknowns if it was a girl I feel like I would know exactly what to expect but the fact that it's a boy it feels very like we're going into uncharted waters again but I've talked to a lot of my friends that are boy moms and I'm so excited because they're rambunctious and they're fearless and they're all these things and I'm really excited about bubs having a brother like I think that's a really cute dynamic so I'm pumped about it but again it's just unknowns my other thing is this I think everybody says like I just want a healthy baby and it's sort of like oh my gosh but you have to prefer one gender over the other I do think like the amount of anxiety that comes with bringing a baby into this world it does become true of like I just want a healthy happy baby and like I genuinely do mean that and I do see why people say that now yeah totally like totally totally totally um for me like number one I was surprised I thought it was a girl um why did we say we thought it was a boy I think we were hedging in our gender reveal video oh I don't even I haven't even seen it so we both said we thought it was a boy really yeah what but I said that I thought it was a boy in that video you said to me I think it's a boy and I said we both think it's a boy and that's part that's in the video but I have the raw footage I am so surprised but that's what my caption says on TikTok is like I didn't think it was a boy I think I was scared so I was just saying I think it's oh oh I know why I thought it was a boy oh because because the neighbor made a comment bleep bleep sorry sorry so going up into it like my that is um very very that day you thought it was a boy yeah so through it all i was i i in my heart thought it was like it was a girl through watching you through comparing symptoms of this pregnancy versus last but there was a comment that he made that made me think it was a boy and so um yes i was really nervous finding out So how do you feel?

32:01So yes, so point one was surprise. Point two is like, it's, as you said, like, all I want is a happy, healthy baby. Do you want a little boy to play sports with and stuff like that? Like, talking about you going to this game with your dad, like, you guys have that bond. Do you want that? I can't believe how indifferent I am towards whether we have, whether we would have had a family of three to four girls or three to four boys or it's a split 50-50. Like, I'm just excited to build memories. And, you know, some of those memories will exist on sports fields, whether they're boys or girls. Some of those memories will exist in the arts and in nature.

32:45and so I think that like what I really am trying to do as a parent is like not project onto what those experiences are and really like embrace them on a situation by situation basis we're not having the sharing clothes moment so that's interesting I think that's a big thing that exists in sister households I don't know neither of us had two sisters like I don't have a sister and then you didn't have two sisters. But I know that's a big thing. They're going to be close in age, so we are avoiding some competitive situations. I do think the girl boy is really cute. It's just really cute. What is crazy, though, that I just hadn't thought about is we right now are a girl-ran household.

33:35It is two versus one. the idea that if you know with baby number three if baby number three is a boy and the boys take the numbers like that but it'll be so cute because we'll be your girls but yes but we're like so far like away from that dynamic today like our house is we had the amount of pink we have in our house There's so much pink in our house. And like, yeah, it going towards a more blue house would just be, like my brain has not gone there at all. Well, you're such a girl dad. You are 100 % like a soft, sweet, precious girl dad. And like this morning when I was getting ready, you just go get bubs.

34:19You put her on the bed and you just play with her. It's so, you love that. You love that little bubs. She's the best. She's the best. um are you nervous about anything um just anxiously awaiting their arrival and and uh hoping and praying for a healthy happy baby like there's nothing that oh i actually have one no i don't i'm nervous his girlfriends are going to be mean to me i i think about it a lot they're going to love you no but i think a lot about like when they're in college if they go to college when they're in their 20s and like they're coming home for Thanksgiving or Christmas and he's like I'm gonna bring a girlfriend I'm gonna pick my little boy because if Boves brings a boyfriend I'll pick I can't wait to meet him you might feel differently about it though maybe the dynamics reversed yeah I'm I'm focused on just like little league on the presents we got we got a long way to go you've heard of GLP1 drugs Right, you guys?

38:12I'm so excited to do the nursery. So Bubz is going to move to the wallpaper room because the wallpaper's pink. It's precious. It's adorable. It's a front room. It is the best natural light. So Bubz will go in there. And then this baby boy, Jelly Bean, he'll go in Bubz's nursery. And we're going to redo it and make it a boy area. Yeah. And then the guest room will become the playroom. Will become the playroom. And that room's really big. So it'll become like a big playroom. all the kids can go in there it'll be great yeah and that's why we're doing the guest room is the playroom instead of the current room because it's just bigger yeah and so in the current room the current playroom size is perfect for bubs it's got a great closet there's a bathroom near it that's the one i want to redo so it'll be really cute bubs is getting a big girl room but i don't think we start this till january yeah so so and then i'm going to want to convert the attic into the guest room and so and I'm gonna want to be out of town for that construction that's what I was gonna say so well I'm will probably need two weeks for that job so maybe plan a trip and I'll pop in and out because I do like being here to kind of oversee the work hmm where will I go who knows okay so that's the situation there um okay the next thing is talking about how we did the gender reveal okay I think that we always assume people like saw the Instagram or TikTok post.

39:33But if you didn't and you're like, what is it? The way we found out was we went on a drive and we had the neighbors come over. They looked at the reveal. They saw the paperwork. What is it called? The email. They said if it's a girl or a boy. They blew up balloons. But what they did was I gave them pink and blue balloons, obviously, because I didn't know which one it was. And they blew up both balloons. And then they put Tate and Winnie outside. And when we drove up, there was pink and blue and then they cut the one they cut the pink ones off so it was just the blue balloons and that's how i knew it was a boy what's funny about it is like when we pulled around the corner and we saw both balloons and then the pink ones started going up i kind of processed oh because the pink is going up that means it's a girl i thought there's no way it's twins and then And I've seen the scans of one baby.

40:25And so, and then I was like, okay, no, the blue has stayed down. They're tied. They're wearing blue. So. It's a boy. I loved how they did it. That was really smart of them because we could have seen it forever away. So it was cute. Yeah, it was, and it incorporated the new car, which is just like. Harrison's dream. Harrison and bleep. Sorry. I keep saying the neighbor boy's name. Well, we'll save the car story for another time. Well, all I got to say is last. We've been saving the car story for a month. I agree. And last night, Harrison comes. I'm in bed. Bubz is in bed. It's in the shop right now.

41:01And Harrison says, I'm going and I'm taking the caddy on a drive. And I'm like, that's so cute. Just take it for a cruise. That's like your nighttime thing. You just take it for like, you love it. But right now it's getting Bluetooth speakers. It's actually not. So I took it to the speaker place this morning. And we're going to do a different speaker system that we need to order in. and so we took it to the shop because we're having some issues when when it's getting started so it's in the shop for the next couple days when we're out of town and then we're gonna pick it up and then take it back to the audio shop when oh great when it arrives when when the speakers that we want to arrive so we didn't do a gender reveal party and I wanted to talk to you about this because when I was saying it to Harrison I said we're not doing a gender reveal party he said a what and I said pause save it for the pod I think we should still do a gender reveal party now that we know it's a boy we should do a boy party okay you can't what you can't do a gender reveal part we already did the gender reveal we're celebrating the gender but a gender reveal party is where you announce the gender yeah which have you seen those where people like shoot off the things well we did that for baby one we shot the but we just did it with my family we didn't have a party there's this concept of gender reveal parties where like yeah i i'd love to have a gender reveal party no we already revealed the gender yeah so now let's celebrate it have you have you seen the viral gender reveal party that just i feel like just this past week i want more parties that's my point more parties more gatherings more fun this couple had these two like dinosaurs like a pink dinosaur and a blue dinosaur inflatable and they had them wrestle and won one okay that's actually really funny i think gender reveals can get like some of them are equivalent to weddings these days yeah they're a lot and that's like way too much for me like you got a 50 50 chance it's a girl or a boy um what keep going and i just i loved finding out the way we did which was like very hey neighbors can you blow up a balloon but the wrestling of the dinosaurs is pretty funny.

43:10But some of them are like fireworks with shooting things and I'm like, oh. I feel like in theory, like you want to do all this stuff. You know, you want to tell people in a special way and you want to have the big gender reveal. But like the reality of like life is like everything is just moving so fast. It's so busy. Like our plates are full. Like actually coordinating this stuff is just like harder. I agree. And like, listen, I think it's sweet and special to go to gender reveal parties but it is a lot to ask people to come find out what it what not if it's a fun party no i agree i not if it's a fun party i'm not going you're not going like if i if we're having a gender reveal party it's not for people to come and find out the gender it's for people to come and have fun and celebrate the moment to bring in a new child into this world i agree with that but i think that'll be more our baby shower yeah as i was it was all coming out of my mouth i was like i can't i kind of am describing a baby shower yeah no and i love gender reveal parties too i just i think it's a lot um with it with schedules So what I realized, do we have more to unpack on the gender?

44:11I do want to say a lot of people do gender reveal parties. I'm very for that, and I love that you do them. Yeah. We need more celebrating in this world. I agree. Celebrate away. Do we have more of the gender reveal stuff? No. I mean, yeah, we're going to talk about the wives' tales. I'm just going to go through them and say yes or no, true or false, accurate or not, okay? So wives' tales about the gender, predicting the gender. Number one, belly shape. Carrying low means a boy. Carrying high means a girl. I find this to be very true. I think I'm carrying low. Well, I can't believe you can tell.

44:40Yeah, you can tell. And I carry tape really high. Cravings. Salty boy, sweet girl. I only want salt. Okay. I think I pushed back on that. I feel like. When have I requested something sweet? You make all my meals. I know. I'm thinking now. Pancakes. But I love that they were salty. Oh, they were? Yeah. Jules didn't watch the whole video. Oh, wait. The cottage cheese made it salty. I did hear that. Okay. I think that this is like a brain gap I have. Just like I recognize how quickly the cravings change, but not, yes. I never want a cookie. They're not changing between sweet or salty. They're changing between different types of salty.

45:19French fries, buffalo wild wings, cottage cheese bread, pizza, salt. Cooler days call for layers that last. 46:43So you can turn that workout up a notch. Good energy in, good energy out. Energy for life. Morning sickness. Severe nausea. It's a girl. Little to no morning sickness. It's a boy. False. sicker with the boy this is one as well that like if I'm gonna look at my 10 closest friends each one of them when their wives have been sickest it has been a girl and when they haven't it's been a boy so like the numbers that have supported that I think was the biggest driver as to why I thought it was a girl yeah no typically it's true because they say the girls take your hormones um or they they require more hormones okay baby's heartbeat over 140 beats per minute girl under 140 boy I don't know we have no idea we do but we've never paid attention to the number they said um mood calm mellow and steady is a boy more emotional or moody a girl I'm as calm mellow and steady as they come I mean just like that I'm just yeah yeah I don't get if I watch TikTok or Instagram I don't cry nothing makes me sad emotional I'm so emotional I'm kidding yesterday I was in the other room and I just heard like a like a loud noise I thought it was a cry and I like didn't understand what like I was in there four minutes beforehand and everything was good and she's laughing so hard at a video on tiktok that she's crying and i watched the video and it was just like not funny it was like it was like a nice moment between a father and a daughter of like them in the grocery store together like it the daughter had an invisible friend named percy and the dad learned about it for the first time on camera and his face just like melted and I thought it was so funny you were you were like my reaction was outsized as is it if something makes me sad if I see an old person eating alone like it is over always has been at Grand Lake I was with Sydney one time and I was hysterically crying um okay cold feet cold hands or feet equals boy warm all the time equals girl this is astoundingly true I have been freezing I I sleep with a heating pad on my feet.

49:09I did not know about this one. You used the heating pad during the first one too. But I used the heating pad during the first one because my restless leg was so bad. Okay. This is, I truly, my feet are actually cold. Sleep position. Prefer sleeping on your left. It's a boy. Prefer sleeping on your right. It's a girl. I prefer sleeping on both sides. So this one's not fit for me. Chinese gender calendar. I did this. It said girl. Wedding ring test. did not do this. Tie your wedding ring to a string, dangle it over your belly, swings in a circle, it's a girl, swings back and forth, it's a boy, we didn't do it.

49:44Skin changes, glowing and clear skin, it's a boy. Breakouts or dull skin, it's a girl. Okay. I mean, this should have been the easiest one. You are glowing. Beautiful. I have hormonal breakouts. You can't really see them. Are you being sarcastic and you can see them? No. No. I do. like I do. You look amazing. That's really nice. You look amazing. I, I, my skin's a bit more dull than usual. So this one doesn't apply for me. You look amazing. Thank you. I would love to do like a checklist though to see. I think we're bad. Like 50%. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Good job guys. Nice mental calculating there. Um, okay.

50:22Bicker of the week. Let's do it. I, calling this a bicker I think is, is, is not a reflective of the situation. I think we're on the same page here. Okay, so the bigger of the week is should you put your luggage on the bed to pack or unpack? And I don't think this is a bicker. I actually think we're on the same page with this. I just think that like what – like to me the correct answer, I'd never thought about this. Like I always had put my luggage on the bed. And then you brought up it's gross. You think a lot of things are gross. And when I thought about it, I was like you're totally right. Like, like this thing just touches everything, everything.

51:09But it is so inconvenient to not put it on the bed. I'm with you there. I just think, number one, we could put a towel down and then put it on there. Because what happened the other day is you put the suitcase on the bed to pack, which I understand because it raises the level and it's simply easier to pack that way. But those conveyor belts at the airport, they get black stuff on it. So then our bed had black stuff on it. I think you nailed the solution, which we had is towel on the bed. Towel down, wash the towel. Towel on the bed. Done. Towel on the bed, wash the towel. Done. Because it is gross.

51:41It is gross. And there's the wheels and it's just like, and I don't think a lot of people think about it. Like we were, I was watching the diplomat the other day and she was packing on her bed. And I'm like, I get that. I wouldn't have thought about it unless my mom said, hey, don't put the suitcase on the bed. And I was like, oh, that makes a lot of sense. Well, I was going to order us like a luggage holder, like one of those luggage things that they have at hotel rooms. I was going to get one for a room because like. You could get one for the guest room and we could go grab it. But I don't want like a ton of stuff.

52:11I know you're an organized man, but I like less things. We just stayed at one of your friend's houses that had one. Nuggets. And we loved it. We made a comment. Yeah. Her guest bedroom when we went for her daughter's birthday had luggage things in it. And we walked in and we were like, this is awesome. Yeah. So it is a good thing to get. And then you're avoiding people putting their suitcases on the bed. Yes. And so you can use it when you want to use it. But if not, it's for guests. Yeah, let's get them. Okay. Get them. Do it, dude. Okay. Things we DM'd. Okay. So what I DM'd you this week was a product of something that I thought may have existed in my head, but apparently is true.

52:50And that is Diet Coke at McDonald's tastes better and is different than Diet Coke everywhere else. So I always thought this was because they had more syrup in their machines. No. So what this article states is the reason why it tastes different is because one, it's delivered in metal canisters and not in the plastic bags. Which Diet Coke tastes better out of the can than it does the plastic bottle. Okay. So that makes sense. Yes. Number two is they serve it colder. I do believe that. And I'm a huge ice guy. The colder, the better. And number three is McDonald's has bigger straws. And so more of the flavor hits you at once.

53:33They have bigger straws? Yeah, which somehow I didn't realize that. But they are. They're wider. Now I have to go get it. Are you sure? Yeah. We're going to have to test that. If they do have bigger straws, it's genius. because people know like what's the best Diet Coke on the planet. Everyone knows it's McDonald's. Diet Coke and fries from McDonald's like superior meal. People know it. This is a good TikTok video to go test the straws. To go do a straw test. Well, do you know what I want to put it up against? No. Sonic. Because Sonic has a good ice. Great ice and just a great soda shop. So maybe we do a Sonic first.

54:12I don't think we have Sonic in Canada. You definitely don't. It's regional. Sonic.ca So I'm mad at CA Let's hear Because for Parker Harrison's niece Let's call her our niece Her birthday I wanted to ship a gift So I go to all the.ca's I go to markandgram.ca Because I was going to get her This monogram suitcase And I go through the whole process I monogram it I'm going to check out And it's like we can't ship it to Canada I'm like but I'm on.ca I go to amazon.ca Can't do it I went to this other place Called tinysomething.ca and all the.ca's, it's like I needed a VPN to be in Canada. They wouldn't let the USA address, the web address go.

54:51Wow. I was very mad. I was going to say this sounds like a U problem, not a CA problem, but it feels like it could be a CA problem. They need to make it easier to ship. There's a lot of problems in CA right now. Thank you, Jules. That's good. That's helpful. Yeah. Express VPN. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay. So that's the episode, you guys. We're so excited about our baby boy. So we're not doing Halloween? Oh my gosh. Halloween. Well, so what do we want to say? Or do we save it and we do a Halloween debrief? Because the reality of the situation is we don't know our full Halloween plans yet. We've got a great outfit.

55:22We know most of our Halloween plans. Are we going to reveal the outfit? The day before. This comes out on the 30th. Okay, here's what we'll do. Halloween, let's do talk about it like this. We're not going to tell you the outfit that Tate and Winnie are going to be. We'll tell you they're being something together. And then all the parents are also participating. Huge proponent of group costumes, multifamily costumes. love it as long as we can do it and that is the girls either don't know what's going on or they're into it i'm i think we should be like riding as now a family of eight love it i love it like think about how good the costumes you can make in yeah when when you've eight people and like we have years of that yeah it's true um what we're gonna do we got invited to two Halloween parties.

56:10We're going to maybe try to go early and then get back to our street because our street, like there's so many kids on it. Our neighborhood has a big Halloween party. It's so fun to walk around. Like we just want to be home and we want to do that. So it's going to be a fun Halloween with the neighbors and our whole block with our neighborhood party. And I think we're stoked. Yeah, I'm very excited. Yeah, we're very, very, very excited. So it's just gonna be like a great Halloween. So fun with kids. I will say it feels like there's a little like lack. We're lacking a little organization to what that day is going to look like right now in terms of like coordinating between all different houses like i think we need to get on a chain and be like all right when is it starting where is it starting do we coordinate a little sorry we were invited to the people diagonal from us at 5 p.m to trick-or-treat

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast — IT’S A BOY!!! 🎉 We’re breaking down everything from how we found out, how we’re feeling now that we know, and why I was so sure it was a girl (spoiler: I was wrong).

We get into the excitement, the nerves, and what we’re most looking forward to about welcoming a little boy, plus our thoughts on gender-reveal parties and which old wives’ tales actually held up.

Before all that — family-style dinners at weddings (the BEST??), a father-son moment at the World Series, and a full pregnancy update with all the latest symptoms.

In Bicker of the Week: is it gross to put your suitcase on the bed? (We NOW have the same take LOL) And of course, in Things We DMed Each Other: why McDonald’s Diet Coke just hits different, and getting ready for Tate’s second Halloween 👻

LOVE YOU GUYS — thanks for celebrating this big moment with us!! 💙
