0:59Jules:Hi guys, welcome to the official Two Parents in a Podcast channel. Remember, like this video and subscribe to this page so you don't miss episodes dropping every Monday and Thursday. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. You guys, we're trying something new today. Well, actually, we did it on Monday. And the reason we did it on Monday was because we just had a whirlwind of a Sunday. And so we're recording the day that we're dropping in. And that's something that we want to start doing now because it just keeps, I'm going to burp because all I do is burp. All I do is burp.

1:34Jules:All I do is burp and pee in the middle of the night. Have you noticed that?

1:37Harrison:Every time I wake up, you are peeing. It is quite, quite interesting.

1:43Jules:No, something happens. And I wonder if other pregnant people feel this too. During the day, like I don't think I pee an excessive amount. at night truly if i'm laying down for 10 minutes and i haven't fallen asleep by then i've got to

1:57Harrison:get up and go to the bathroom yeah i mean it is non-stop but i wonder if there's something

2:01Jules:different that happens with your bladder when you're pregnant standing up versus laying down oh i couldn't tell you i just it's it is wild um anyways we're recording the day of which is very exciting it's more IRL it just feels I feel more connected to you guys doing it this way but we're

2:21Harrison:trying it I think it'd be great to get feedback on if people would rather the episodes be recorded same day and come out later or if there's a preference towards us filming a day or two beforehand sometimes three days beforehand but it drops first thing in the morning yeah I know

2:42Jules:that from a listener like me as a consumer i love when podcasts drop as close to we're i like i love when podcasts record as close to drop as possible but yeah you guys let us know and when you're letting us know like while you're in there typing the comment just hit that little subscribe button and then send the episode to a friend please i um am wearing a white like i didn't have time to change today and that was great that was really refreshing for me like I had two minutes to get dressed okay and with those two minutes I put on one outfit and like I would have changed but I looked at myself and I said you know what like you're dressed appropriately you have to walk out the door right now so I just walked out the door and that was good for me to embrace the

3:30Harrison:outfit you look lovely thank you we're both wearing a white shirt so that we do look like matching family photo day

3:38Jules:we look like we're matchers yeah I woke up with Bubba this morning which just hasn't happened in a very long time but Harrison had a really late night not like a party night like a work night and so I was like I got Bubba this morning

3:53Harrison:thank you very much

3:53Jules:and we went to the coffee shop because we wanted to get an orange juice and she just she just picks now like she just it's Bubba's world oh yeah and I truly felt like I did a hit class the coffee shop is 0.2 miles away from our house I got back I'm probably still sweating and I had to like eat an omelet because I felt like I had

4:14Harrison:just done a berries class she's full of energy she doesn't some babies I think wake up and they

4:21Jules:take about 30 minutes to wake up not ours she's up she's just up yeah she's ready for the day to go

4:28Harrison:the moment that she calls for us to get her.

4:31Jules:Yeah, she is wide awake. I think she might get that from my mother.

4:35Harrison:Interesting.

4:36Jules:Yes. Interesting. There's a wide awake the moment that you get up. Okay, so I am still eating soup because as we talked about, when pregnant people get sick, it just takes them longer to recover. And there's some, we talked about this on the episode. and that's a real thing right because like part of your immune system is compromised to take care of the baby and also your your dehydration is more prevalent and so it's just like recovering from this like my body if I eat a salad it sits on top of my stomach so I've only had one salad and ever and since then I just had soup so I made my own chicken not chicken tortilla oh my gosh it does sound good but I made my own chicken noodle soup yesterday and I was really proud of myself because I'm not a very good chef and our neighbor, the neighbor girl came over and said, oh my gosh, where'd you get that?

5:28Harrison:It looked phenomenal.

5:30Jules:I was really proud to say I made it. It looked phenomenal. But I like followed the ingredients and okay, so we're real now because guess what I needed? Chicken like paste.

5:40Harrison:Okay.

5:41Jules:And you had it. Bullion. Yes. Yes. And we had it in the, we had it in the cupboard.

5:46Harrison:And we're stuck.

5:47Jules:No, Harrison, when I tell you I was so excited, I was like going down the ingredient list we had rosemary in the fridge like real rosemary

5:56Harrison:yeah we're well equipped

5:59Jules:that's because of you my little chef speaking of you being a chef

6:07Harrison:let's hear it

6:08Jules:I posted because Harrison made he made a throwaway comment he was like I don't know like I'm on sourdough TikTok I'm just kind of like understanding how they make it

6:18Harrison:no no no

6:19Jules:Okay, tell me.

6:21Harrison:The throwaway comment was simply, hmm, I wonder if I should make sourdough. And I think the thought process there was very much just like, I'm making a whole bunch of food with bubs. Like, what is something that I could make? What is something new that I could make? And, like, I'd heard a lot about sourdough, and that has opened up Pandora's box of sourdough, which I was not aware existed, including me now, after I spoke about it, being on sourdough TikTok, which is a very fun TikTok to be on.

6:50Jules:this bread world is unbelievable. And I don't think you thought this was, because I'm not a candidate to make sourdough bread. I don't have the attention span. I can't follow directions good enough. And I will mess it up. You, however, are really good at following recipes. You're detail-oriented. You're experiential in the kitchen.

7:13Harrison:But that's my biggest concern, is I actually like I used to follow ingredients to a T and now like I really don't. Now I really feel it out based off of like what I know you like and Bub's like and I like. And so that's the thing that concerns me most about sourdough is it feels like you need to follow the exact program. And I feel like you can't make sourdough if you're not making your own starter too. I feel like that's just like totally cheating to like say you're a sourdough person. I just don't agree with that. Harrison feels as though he needs to make some starter. And I'll be on the other side of it.

7:51Harrison:When I make homemade pizza, I make it with pizza dough from restaurants. That is cheating. Making sourdough when someone else prepares the, whatever it's called, what's it called? The starter. That is, it's just cheating. It's not the same thing. Like you're halfway there. You're skipping half the step, which is a time intensive step and very, very critical.

8:15Jules:You have to care for your starter. You have to keep your starter alive. Do you know that?

8:18Harrison:Yeah. And maybe I'll start by using another starter, but it just doesn't feel right. I would assume that all these big sourdough pages are making their own starter.

Read the full transcript

8:31Jules:They say, how are you doing things, how are you doing everything? So I guess you should make your own starter. But I want to push back on what you said about, I don't know. I think you are supposed to follow the recipe pretty exact, but I do think there's some room for creativity in there, which is why I think not all sourdough is created equal. Like I think some of them have a little more sour in it. Some of them have a little more butter in it.

8:54Harrison:Yeah, I'm not talking about in terms of like how you flavor it. I'm more talking about like the process of like – Textures are different. Well, number one, starting with the – I keep blanking on the word. The starter. Starting with the starter. Starting with the starter. like that you need to it sounds like you just need to be so precise with your measurements of like flour to water and what you're taking out and like that I I love to eyeball and then yeah I love putting my own flavors into it but like the rolling every hour and that that's what I

9:27Jules:struggle with you can't really tease me with the potential sourdough like you got me so excited

9:32Harrison:we'll decide when we get back from Expo West okay so yeah that's what we're doing next week you guys

9:36Jules:We're going to Expo West, which is, is it called a food and beverage show?

9:40Harrison:It's just a mat. It's a mat. Biggest trade show in our industry.

9:43Jules:Yeah. And it's food and beverage, though. And it's haul after haul after haul. And we went last year. I don't know if you guys remember that. But we went last year. And then Bubz went when she was in my tummy.

9:52Harrison:Oh, my goodness, Bubber. Yeah.

9:54Jules:And then the week after that, your birthday.

9:55Harrison:Yep.

9:56Jules:And then guess what?

9:57Harrison:And then what?

9:58Jules:We're a month out from baby.

10:00Harrison:I knew that.

10:01Jules:I know. I just, I am, I do have a countdown in my head. like a real and do you know what I fall asleep to at night now?

10:08Harrison:What's your

10:09Jules:dreaming about him coming like the day he comes because I just feel so much better phenomenal I know I really can't wait okay so how is Bubber's cast going today this morning at the coffee shop it was just it was such a hit and this guy he came up to her he was like an old man do you know what he said?

10:30Harrison:What did he say?

10:31Jules:You and Lindsey Vaughn Oh

10:33Harrison:and I just looked

10:34Jules:to him and I said you are so sweet what a great line like I was like she doesn't know what that means yet but I know what you mean and I think that's a really cool parallel she got her cast on her and Maria drew a smiley face on it and he was like really cool smiley face and she just like loves her cast and she did trip today she wanted to wear Winnie's shoes and like she really wanted to wear Winnie's zapatos and I was like whatever we can wear Winnie's zapatos they're half size too big but like perfect bubs she had him on and she wanted to go down her ramp and she fell on both hands and i i wanted to see how she felt totally fine really totally fine so it's doing this job yeah it's really doing its job and then i ran into a mother in the neighborhood and she was like what happened to bubs and i told her and she said oh god like she had three kids she's like it'll heal in a week i was like yeah because they're at this young age so feeling really good about bubs's cast she loves when we all three wear our cast um we did walk into because we all went to mommy daughter dance and the teacher did she was like what happened to all three of you and i was like these these casts are in solidarity with her cast and speaking of mommy daughter dance

11:48Harrison:two things that i want to touch on here let's hear it number one you can't miss snack time

11:54Jules:big learning non-negotiable because we always have a snack at 4 45 it's usually queso cheese berries um i don't know what else it is avocado cottage cheese i mean we have big snack time at 4 45 and then you know that lasts us to dinner but what happened on tuesday was we needed to pick up bubs because there's a traffic situation at five o 'clock here in austin i mean as is there any city so we gotta leave a 4 40 for dance class i've realized and so we left at 4 40 so bubs missed the snack time and her and winnie at this dance class like when kids are hungry they can't function and they were both just sitting there doing the more and more and more sign and like there was five kids in this dance class and usually bubs and like they're they love it they run around they're dancing they know that you go from the green dot to the red dot very disruptive very just like is there food here and when we realized they were hungry we like i had some snacks so we took them out of the class because i didn't want to bring the snacks in the class that felt more disruptive so we were just it became it became like we were playing defense not offense on snack time and what i've realized is that's not a good method totally that was my learning there is like snack time is very important and kids need to eat every three hours.

13:20Jules:And this was the first time in their 17 months that we have missed a snack time. And that was a good learning for me. Don't miss snack time.

13:28Harrison:Is it better for me to be here nauseous, giving one word answers or not be here and step off?

13:32Jules:This is part of recording IRL.

13:34Harrison:I was going to say this is normally when we would push to later in the day or to tomorrow, but we cannot because we're doing day of recording. I'm gonna need to step outside for a moment because I'm feeling very nauseous okay you go

13:46Jules:step outside I will hopefully be back step outside it's okay if you stay outside I love you that was so nice thank you for listening the show's not over the show is not over the show will go on one moment okay go we're off into the new year you guys but I know that all of you are still trying to hit your health goals that you set January 1st and here's the thing a lot of times that means you're cutting out carbs. But you have to ask yourself, what carby type foods do you miss? Is it bagels? Is it bread? Is it tortillas? And that is where Hero comes in. Because here's the thing, Hero is such, it makes my mouth water thinking about it.

14:23Jules:It has the great taste of bread and tortillas and those sweet buns. But here's the thing, it doesn't have the sacrifice. you would never know it was zero to five net carbs and 11 to 13 grams of fiber from the texture. And that's the best part because a lot of times there's these foods that they come out and they're healthy XYZ, but you're sacrificing on taste. And that is not the case with Hero. Get the soft, fluffy experience you know and love, whether you're packing fresh wraps for everyday lunches or toasting up to 19 grams of protein with a breakfast bagel. No compromises, you guys, just flavor.

15:00Jules:So Hero Bread is offering 10 % off your order. Go to hero.co and use code two parents at checkout. That's two parents at H E R O dot C O. Um, okay. So now you guys, it's just me and you, where do I want to go? Okay. I know what I'll talk about. I have something that I can report on my own. So I, I posted about the sourdough bread that our neighbor made us and it is, she dropped it. I thought it was a sign. She had dropped it off on our front porch the day after I was talking about how I really wanted sourdough bread. She wrote on it, sorry for the noise because they're doing some construction.

15:40Jules:It's croissant sourdough bread. I can't explain to you how good it is. Like I'm, I'm just tearing me and the neighbor girl are just tearing it off. now it's like this giant loaf we just tear it off and we just eat it it is absolutely delicious and i posted like i've got the pre-diabetes which people are like you don't have pre like there's no such thing as pre-diabetes okay i have good impaired there is i there yeah that's what i thought too they were like you don't have it i'm like no there is such thing as pre-diabetes pre-diabetic but i have glue impaired glucose tolerance and so i thought sourdough bread would be bad for that because my doctor told me you know eat high protein blah blah so but everyone in the comments was saying no sourdough bread especially homemade sourdough bread's really good for regulating your blood sugar and so I was like well this is incredible so I got one of those glucose monitors to prick myself and I actually have two bruises on my hand but I tried to prick myself four times I couldn't get enough blood and it like hurts and I wonder if like part of the needle or something is stuck in my finger no I know it's like there's like a real life bruise so anyways I couldn't get it posted that and you guys let me know I got to massage my finger I have to warm it up I have to get the blood flowing and I have to prick the side of it and that'll get it but I'm a little scarred from it right now but I do want to check does the sourdough I mean I don't know if the croissant sourdough does this but does sourdough actually regulate my blood sugar because if so I really do want Harrison to make it and then I want it to be like I want it to be a staple in my life it could help regulate your blood sugar yeah oh let's read let me tell you verbatim from the comments sorry I was studying womb transplants okay let's see here sourdough bread

17:41Jules:where'd that bump come from and i did i did pop overnight freeze the bread and it low oh i wonder if this is okay freeze the bread and it lowers glycemic index by 30 to 40 percent sourdough is actually one of the best breads for pre-diabetics or diabetes less likely to spike you. Also pairing it with fat and protein helps. Sourdough bread helps helped me survive my gestational diabetes. Sourdough is actually pretty decent for blood sugar management. The fermentation process makes it lower glycemic, a lower glycemic index food.

18:19Harrison:I love it. I love it because I love bread and like sourdough just is I'm quotation mark healthy bread, but it enables me to eat bread.

18:30Jules:well I think it's but I think the caveat here is especially if it's homemade so somebody said you know the H-E-B's sourdough is amazing and I was like okay well a point for H-E-B and listen I love H-E-B it's my favorite grocery store on the planet but that a lot of people were like no no no you got to read the ingredients of H-E-B's bread the last ingredient is and other genetically modified ingredients so i think sourdough if you get it from a bakery or if it's homemade is where it really thrives yeah like she wrote the ingredients on the bread that she gave us and it says wheat butter water that makes sense is that what it is yeah that's like pretty incredible yeah so anyway i don't know how she made this croissant bread but people are asking me for the recipe so i'm gonna have to go over there and ask her for it i don't have her phone number yet

19:25Harrison:oh i wonder if she made it like a croissant where like you do the butter in between and then like roll it that's what it is it feels flaky like that they shave frozen butter into the they let it like ferment once and then they shave the frozen butter into it like when you do an add-in like the cheese jalapeno like that so you shave the

19:48Jules:frozen butter into it p is saying and we can't cut this because i don't want there to be jump cuts no it's okay i think we can keep it in okay we're gonna keep it we're gonna keep it i don't want there to be a bunch of jump cuts we're gonna keep that in from p and so this reminds me of one more thing that's going on in the neighborhood so we've got a school in our neighborhood that people like love and but we're a lot of the moms in the neighborhood are kind of like you know you just always want to check out a school before you agree to send your kid there So we're hosting a happy hour with moms who go to the school and then moms in the neighborhood whose kids are young.

20:24Jules:And we're going to do a Q &A with them.

20:26Harrison:Fun.

20:27Jules:About, and we're doing it not, we're doing it in two weeks. And I'm on flyer patrol.

20:33Harrison:You're sending out the flyers?

20:34Jules:Well, I'm on make the flyer patrol. I just got dedicated that today. Because I said, let me know how I can help. And she said, can you make the flyer? And I said, I can. Send me the details.

20:43Harrison:do you have a person in your neighborhood that's like kind of running the the show so we really don't like on our block we have no like we we just have a lot of really good a plus participants love it but we don't have kind of like a queen b um as long as things are still getting done

21:06Jules:that's great everything gets done yeah things get done and I love like I love I just I'm like really obsessed with the characters in my neighborhood and like I'm obsessed with our street I don't know that I could ever move and if anybody on my street ever moved I'd be devastated but we've got like the mom of the older girls and then we've got the moms you know of the middle schoolers and then we've got four of us five of us six of us that are like really young kids and we're all friends and we've got our big group text but I wouldn't say there's like a big ringleader on the block I would say there's there's like a couple I love it the other thing I'm doing okay so this is what I want to talk about speaking of dance class I joined a so I I wanted to get involved somehow here in Austin with some nonprofit, which is what I usually do in the city that I moved to.

22:03Jules:But this is the first time that I wanted to do something with moms because this is the first city I've lived in where I was a mom. And so I found this nonprofit called the Jeremiah Project. What it is, and I'm on there, it's called the Propel Board. It's the same thing as a young professionals board. And this is the first year they've done it in Austin because they have their formal board, and now they're starting like a young professionals board. What it is, and I absolutely love it, is it's moms who are single and in pursuit of education of some kind. Maybe they're getting an associate's degree of some kind.

22:39Jules:Maybe they're going to nursing school. Maybe they're cosmetology. That also counts. So anyways, they are housed. There's a campus here. And you can go tour it. I went and tour it. I met some of the moms. And basically, like, if you have kids, you're a single mom, you qualify. if you're in pursuit of your education. They also have counselors on site that help you talk through your education, talk through your needs for education. They have some kind of a job and then they pay a prorated rent. And it's like the most incredible thing on the planet because there's a rat, there's 98 moms. And so you see the direct impact you have on these women.

23:18Jules:You get to know them and you see where the ones that live on campus live. you get to like it's just it's unbelievable and so what we're doing for mother's day is we're going to have a mommy and me dance class at the place the hello dancer where we do dance and it's going to be like oh so hello dancers donating the dance class right people are going to pay to come do the mommy and me dance class and then 100 of those proceeds will go to buying gift cards we might do gifts I don't know how we're going to do it yet but all that to say I'm really excited because I wanted to do something with the mommy and me dance class.

23:54Jules:And then I figured out where we can do it. I love that. Ever wonder why your prenatal vitamin stays the same when your body changes so much throughout pregnancy? 26:06Harrison:from I mean I know where you're from I'm I think everyone hopefully from Cleveland from Cleveland

26:12Jules:lived in New York. Yeah. And Chicago before that. Chicago before that. That's right. Chicago to, let me ask you this. There's a new Pilates. Um, I reposted the video last night. There's a new Pilates, not store Pilates studio. Studio. Thank you. Goodness. It's a new Pilates studio in Chicago called vinyl Pilates that does, um, they serve coffee in the mornings, complimentary with class and wine at night in logan square yeah of course it would be in logan square in logan square what do you think about that i said if i didn't have to go get coffee before my pilates class i

26:55Harrison:would be thrilled i think that's great i was talking to someone this weekend though that was a psychiatrist and he wants to open a psychiatry office with a cop upstairs with a coffee shop downstairs so you can like go have a fun morning before your appointments and i thought that i thought that was interesting but i thought maybe there's like some um hippo laws or something that it was against it why would there be hippo laws because like you're not i don't know if you're supposed to like know who your psychiatrist's other patients are oh okay but are outsiders

27:37Jules:allowed to come to the coffee shop?

27:38Harrison:I don't know. It was just he was saying like he thought it would be cool for people to mingle before before an appointment.

27:46Jules:Okay I see what you're saying. I do think like you are a dead giveaway that you're going to a psychiatrist unless it's completely open to the public. Yeah I don't know. I don't he didn't say. But then if they see if they see you going upstairs I don't know. Yeah. Do people still care about that? I don't think so. What are some things people hide like that they I think a lot of times people try to not tell us if they've had a facelift yeah um I think people used to hide that they go to therapy I don't think they do that anymore as much um I think it's like the little habits that you do at home that we we

28:21Harrison:talked about this before secret single behaviors wait what are secret single behaviors secret things you do at home secret things you do at home when you're when you live alone so like dying your eyebrows drinking milk out of the carton like which i totally do because it's my

28:39Jules:milk it's 100 your milk but you can't drink milk out of the carton no and we can't stick forks and cottage cheese either and double dip on them yeah we talk a lot about that in our household okay so other secret single behaviors would be

28:57Harrison:like i gotta shave my mustache yeah every once in a while same same what else um i can think of one just like weird habits yeah weird little i don't know like leaving your

29:10Jules:like no not leaving your water cup and just like always drinking out of it oh i got a cup graveyard in my room you do yeah a cup graveyard is is a i don't have that i'm like very anal about my cups

29:22Harrison:though but if there was like any of my friends coming over or someone coming over like the cup graveyard's got to go that's secret to me how many cups are we talking like I mean sometimes it's like five to seven that's not that bad because I have a windowsill and like what I do is I take my cup from the night before from my bedside table and I move it to the windowsill like could I not just put it in the kitchen that is a hundred feet away no no there's something about that there's

29:51Jules:some like there's some psychology because like i will also walk by my bedside table and be like that needs to go downstairs i have got two hands and i'll do it later yeah and it's like just take

30:04Harrison:the cup downstairs yeah but i won't do it the um i mean i've only lived in like studio apartments so like you're you know everything's all right there still i feel like you having to walk

30:19Jules:downstairs i would i would struggle but that's why i've really buttoned things up like i'm only allowed one cup on the nightstand at a time and so like last night it was a really big thing because like i needed another cup and it's like a whole but if i let there get two cups then i'll let

30:34Harrison:there get 20 cups i always think of this when it comes to the brick that you have you keep yours in your kitchen or no yeah like i would just walk to my kitchen that's right there i think about this constantly i want a brick i would love to brick my phone i would just walk to my fridge and unbrick

30:53Jules:it but you wouldn't no it's right there no but i know that you think that you would some because i used to keep it on my bedside table you did yes and i never unbricked because there's something about it of like i would i would just be like disappointed in myself but are you good to hit

31:11Harrison:the ignore the time do you set the time thing on your phone separately as well it's time thing for what the time what's it called the time limit no on apps no like i have it set on tiktok and instagram i hit ignore every single day it's that for me wouldn't work okay just wondering

31:28Jules:that for me is too easy to bypass but has something about the physical and i wonder if the brick creator they must have done some kind of like psychological research on this but something about having to tap it go to the brick app and tap it physically tap it makes it a lot harder because i see these focus app like harrison used to have the focus pop up and we just bypass it yeah it's too easy yeah it doesn't hold you accountable enough i need to fix that so okay so lived in chicago then lived in new york now you lived in austin yeah and what's your favorite city that you've lived in so far oh i i love living in austin i i feel like

32:12Harrison:having a car yeah is what changed it all for me did you have a car in chicago no i didn't have a car for the six years before i moved here okay and like i thought i was just like so cool for not having a car for six years i love having a car having a car because also what i love about

32:32Jules:having the car like of course you can walk on the street with your airpods in and like that's a jam session of its own but i love getting in the car and putting my music on me as well like love it well i can hear you when you pull up to the house i'm always like i listen to my music very loud there she is and she's bumping some i don't know jonas brothers taylor swift or olivia rodrigo's

32:52Harrison:who p made fun of me for listening to the other day olivia rodrigo why is that chuggy of her i love olivia oh she's 22 that's not chuggy no but doesn't p wouldn't p think we were chuggy maybe you not you you're about to turn 30. he told me the other day we were i forget what we were talking about and she said um in our generation and i just like ignored kind of what she said and i said wait you think we're in the same generation and she said yeah no but i

33:25Jules:think me and you different generation well not in a bad way i am almost a mother of two so i am a bit in a different generation yeah i just lean i lean more gen z you lean way yeah and i just lean like a true like in my blood and i'm a millennial yeah like i can't even pretend and i used to fight it And now I like really embrace it And I'm like I am just a tried and true millennial Yeah I'm not Like I'm so not a Gen Z But what are you actually By age

33:55Harrison:I'm I'm like the dead cut off And I think I am millennial But I think it cuts between 95 and 96 And that's You're 96 I'm 96 Yeah

34:06Jules:Okay So What That's so funny And then one really Like to know Jules Is to know she's got this like best friend group what's your group text call do you have a group text name um i can't you don't have to tell us you just say you have a text yeah i have a text name okay and how many girls are in it five girls and what's the deal with these five like i think they're like the biggest part of your life like there's a we're always talking about a hundred percent this is just like too much they're gonna be like what who's got the same birthday as you zoe so i cannot believe i could not remember her name yeah like i know zoe going there next week

34:44Harrison:um my five best friends we all lived in chicago after in those five years like at some point all together in those five years but it consists of my best friend from high school okay my best friend from college okay her best friend from high school and then one of zoe zoe and i weren't friends in college but now she's one of my best friends you know is one of my best friends but you guys have the same birthday you have the same birthday so we celebrated our birthday together for probably five years before we even like would text each other solo wow but you guys turned like 30 on

35:20Jules:the same day yes we turned 30 on the same day is the whole group text going to new york no because

35:26Harrison:we're you know far different parts of the country but we're all going to cape cod in june to

35:34Jules:celebrate everyone's birthday together everyone's 30th everyone's 30th yeah who picked cape cod

35:40Harrison:um I don't know I just said someone else pick and we'll go I'll show up I'll buy the flight but one of the things that we're doing that it's my idea I don't actually know if we're doing it yet but we're we're going for like five plus days I think and we're gonna take each person gets a day for their birthday and each person gets like one of their special things so someone it might be dinner some it might be a brunch someone might be I don't know game night but I said Zoe and I have to do ours together. I'm not separating from her. That's really cute. So what are you guys going to pick? What's going to be your thing?

36:14Harrison:I'd like to do like, we love doing card, like playing cards. I think I would like to do game night for me and Zoe.

36:21Jules:And so if it's your birthday, if that's, if that's the day that you celebrate your birthday, do you plan the game night? I think everyone else plans it for you. Okay. So you just say, I want a game night and then you're not planning game night.

36:31Harrison:Someone's going to get a nice dinner. Someone's going to get a fun boozy brunch. Like it'll be a time no one knows this this is news to everyone besides zoe oh well that's fun the

36:42Jules:group text you guys all get to pick your yeah but i mean six days is a lot i think it might be longer

36:48Harrison:than that we haven't talked about it yet we booked it you and i haven't talked about it yeah oh well approved yeah um it's time off approved it's booked so i'm gonna work but everyone's working that's the other thing we're gonna do a whole week everyone's gonna work during the day and then Are we staying in a hotel or a house?

38:51Harrison:There is a direct flight from Austin, to cape cod to boston okay yeah so we'll drive from boston it was like 100 bucks what you already

39:01Jules:booked it yeah which i never do have you booked the cottage yeah okay someone else did so you're ready to go yeah cape cod for 100 bucks yeah we're gonna rent a car so that's whatever but but still 100 bucks for the base flight that's really good yeah what are we are we flying frontier

39:17Harrison:no um frontier canceled my flight path but that that flight is southwest but now there's no longer a direct flight from from cleveland to austin why they just canceled it they just said no more people was it always empty no it was always full and there was one a week like i don't know what we're doing oh so now you have to connect yeah but my friend sent a um petition like and there's like a formal complaint process oh she sent me screenshots of what to send she sent me what to write and we're like petitioning to get the flight path back i'm gonna do a petition i'll send it to you maybe we'll put the link in the in the show notes well i would think of enough people

40:01Jules:even i i'm assuming how they decide to put like a flight path back yeah is most petitions we've

40:06Harrison:had 15 plus people like send this in because we're sending it to everyone and just saying get the flight path back from cleveland austin yeah just get us in the okay yeah get us in the hopper um what else should we know about you jewels nothing i don't know best concert you've

40:20Jules:ever been to jonah's brothers how many times have you been the last jonah's brothers concert was

40:24Harrison:great because i was in like the first row that was different to me um but i mean that the arrows tour that's right so that's your favorite concert ever yeah i went in in amsterdam with my friends and

40:39Jules:that was i love amsterdam so that's pretty i mean that's pretty iconic yeah okay what's a fun fact about you you're really just killing me sorry so sorry you don't have to know the people

40:51Harrison:the people are very nice to me so i'm happy to give the people what they want give them what they want i think they want to get to know you um a fun fact well this isn't fair though because

41:01Jules:this is an ambush of an episode like yeah i'm planning on it yeah we've already done the whole

41:05Harrison:50 states thing in less than 25 seconds then that's my that's my fun fact usually um what's your two truths and a lie um i have a birthmark in the back of my throat i'm i have four segments on one of my finger instead of three what's a segment segments on your fingers oh okay and um

41:31Jules:she knows that she has this okay well what's the third one i think you just gave us the i know i gave two truths i don't have the lie on deck you have a birthmark on the back of your back of my

41:45Harrison:throat how do you know it's been there since i was born like how do what does it look what does a birthmark on your throat look like it's just like a big red splotch on the back of my throat but like every time i go to a new doctor they're like what what is that now before i open my mouth when they have the stethoscope i gotta say there's a birthmark back there i have a birthmark on the

42:09Jules:boring it's so boring do you grow into birthmarks like would i know if tate had one or no um you'd know you'd know because i think i think they're just there like i wouldn't call any of my moles birthmarks do you call moles birthmarks i don't know beauty marks yeah your mom called moles beauty marks i love that i think that's true so no i don't i think you would know if they had a like a a birthmark no birthmark yeah look in the back of her throat i guess i will i will i was

42:45Harrison:just looking at her teeth yesterday her little teeth so was i she's like her teeth are human

42:51Jules:like they're not large they're just like they're there and she's like her molars yes yeah like she's got like a over like these kids change so everyone says the time is a thief it is crazy how fast like just today i was watching her walk to the coffee shop and i was just like what i feel

43:10Harrison:like i just had you and i feel like we when we used to work out of your house i would see her every single day but now that we work out of the office i see her like once every couple weeks and

43:19Jules:she is just like a different human every single time different and she's learning more words and has her little opinions and it's really cute um okay do you want to do things we dm'd sure okay so okay the thing that i dm'd was the first baby was born in the uk out of a womb transplant but the womb transplant came from a deceased person and is that like a heart transplant yes it is exactly and it here's the thing though it it causes this you know conversation of is this an ethical boundary or is this a win for science

44:09Harrison:if it's similar to a heart transplant I'm just like it's a it's a win so I was reading more

44:15Jules:this morning and a lot of people are commenting being like this doesn't feel right and so here Here's the story. Okay. It was a mom. Her name is Grace. And when she was 16, like she doesn't have regular menstrual cycles, her womb, she was born with an underdeveloped womb basically. So when she was 16 years old, the doctor told her like, you're not going to be able to have children of your own unless you know, you do surrogacy. So her and her partner were going down the path of surrogacy, but you also can get on a womb transplant list. Yeah. and in the uk they've successfully done a womb transplant but the person was alive so it was the person's sister and like she was 40 years old and she was done having kids gave her sister her womb and in order to do a successful womb transplant like a lot has to go right uh-huh it's very delicate to get it out of one and like plug it into the other yeah but then this woman died and she was a match for this person and they were able to do a transplant of her womb although she was deceased to grace and it was successful and she was able to carry her kid that's so cool it's really cool and so some of the other things I was seeing in the comments was did you know did the deceased okay this and they did her family so she died young I think and her parents like okayed and wanted to donate the transplant because they knew that the woman that had died would want somebody else to be able to have kids and grace the receiver of the transplant was like you know I think of this sweet family every time I look at my baby because they gave me my biggest dream and so there's the comments are really really negative and well they're both they're both but the comments are there's a big dialogue going on in there but it kind so one of the other things that's happening is people are saying if she can't carry kids on her own she should adopt and then a lot of people are responding to that saying no of course there are tons of children that need to be adopted and that's a separate issue but just because a woman biologically can't have kids and because of science she's now able to have kids that's just because she doesn't just be a lot of um women that can't have kids were chiming in saying just because i can't have kids doesn't mean i have to adopt like this is incredible if i want my dna and a baby i should be allowed to have that just because i was born one way so and i i agree with that i think they're

46:51Harrison:two separate issues 100 i i also like this whole it's just organ donation so like if that's wrong then like a heart donation is wrong a lung like i i don't know if i'm just seeing it so objectively that it's the same as like you got your heart transplanted like what's the point of what's the

47:18Jules:point of being upset over that well I think that do you know what I actually think it is I think it's the headline I think the headline is daunting and people don't sit with it long enough and so they they see a deceased womb making a kid like that just when I read it I read it on BBC it popped up on my page and I was like what on earth and I clicked on it then you know you ask yourself like how do you feel about a woman being able to have kids now incredible right I think it's incredible I think it's a huge win and it's life-changing for this girl and I know surrogacy can be really expensive and it can take a really long time and so I think it's cool this also takes a long time I don't know how expensive it is but I think it's cool just the further we get along with women who aren't biologically able to have kids to be able to have kids I think it's cool

48:11Harrison:right especially if that's what they want to do like they deserve that right exactly I don't I don't know why we would take that away from them um so that's yeah that's what's going on over there

48:24Jules:in the UK and it wasn't that long ago that they had their first so I think in 2013 the first or 20 2007 or 2013 huh my my photographic memory is not serving me on this one but Sweden I think did the first womb transplant from an alive person to an alive person. So it's in the 2000s. It hasn't been that long that we figured out womb transplants. Yeah. And a lot of times these women still have eggs and they're still able to produce everything they need. They just don't have the womb to house the eggs. So that's where womb transplants came into play. And now to be able to get them from deceased people.

49:02Jules:I don't I I people can let us know in the comments why that would be a bad thing. But I also I'm with you. I don't see it.

49:09Harrison:right unless a heart transplant is also bad right which okay i guess i guess the argument

49:15Jules:okay so let's play devil's advocate here like the argument for the heart transplant would be to live

49:21Jules:yeah so necessary for life life-saving yeah as opposed to like just something you want

49:28Harrison:but like i think it's like a fundamental right to be bare children i agree with you i don't know

49:35Jules:well you know i agree with you right yeah fully and um yeah and then there's lung transplants

49:43Harrison:right you can i feel like get anything transplanted these days i don't know i've i did google it because i was like what can't like if i'm an organ donor sorry to the point where you said that the family okayed it of the deceased woman i'm like if i'm marked as an organ donor on my license yeah can they just take anything from you then and like why did why was permission asked like i would have assumed they could take the heart the lungs the kidney anything the the was the

50:16Jules:uterus right like the the womb the the person who passed away probably um didn't specify what like my womb don't don't because they didn't know that was an option right but i'm sure the family knew like if I passed away and I was a match for somebody Harrison I would hope would know like she would want this person to be able to have kids right so like of course yeah um so I'm sure the parents were like that yeah but agreed it is a separate issue than the comments are making it with about the adoption stuff right completely separate I I think that I felt the same way I just and and then for them saying it doesn't feel right I don't know I just thought she she said you know I felt so hopeless at 16 when I heard that and then I learned about surrogacy and then I felt more hope again and then when they called me and told me that they had a match she was overjoyed and then it worked out and now the little boy he's 10 weeks old his name's Hugo I know Hugo what a

51:14Harrison:cute name I love the name I was just gonna say there's Love Island UK guy named Hugo so I couldn't couldn't do it that's the problem that's the problem and you know I think they used to have

51:24Jules:a lot easier time naming people because social media didn't exist less access to people i now know every time i think of a name i'm like well him well him well him hmm so funny i did think of a name though that i don't well i do know one person but most people think their heart health is fine because their cholesterol looks normal but critical markers like lipoprotein rarely get tested unless you specifically ask for them interfunction health you guys it's national Heart Month. And I've personally been thinking a lot more about my heart health, especially because you never know about longevity or family history, et cetera.

52:02Jules:And what surprised me is how much you don't know until you actually see your lab results and get an actual blood test. That's what I love about function. It doesn't tell you what to worry about. It shows you what's actually happening in your body. Function is designed by world-class physicians entrusted by hundreds of thousands of members. 53:30Harrison:pickers yes and the other day i i ate something that was i think it was like it was well past um the expiration date like but what was it eggs but eggs can go past yeah yeah and i just in your house in your fridge i i think i know the answer to this though is the expiration date a law or is the expiration date just like a loose a loose guideline it is a strict law every sunday and it drives harrison insane because to him expiration dates are such

54:07Jules:a guideline like he will eat things three four days past every sunday i go through the entire fridge and i know most expiration dates by heart i know our meat section i know the cheese section i know when the cottage cheese is expiring i know when the milk is expiring and i go through every section and i clean it out and if something's expiring on monday it's coming out does harrison still have his drawer no so the reason he doesn't have his drawer is i think he's he's understanding the beauty of the organized fridge yeah i think i've because i've got it down to my sections and they're they're the same sections and so the same that the fruit is always in the same spot the eggs are always in the same spot and i think he's realizing this isn't a bad gig yeah this is a really good gig i know right where everything's at i know how much we have of everything and so i've noticed he's started putting his his drawers now the cheese drawer oh yeah and he's actually really started um complying with my fridge so it's a law in your house it's not no longer a bicker well it it is a bicker because a lot of times i'll hear alex and i'll say yeah did you throw out my xyz yes and then i'll be like was it actually expired i'll say yeah or it was close but like things are going sauces i'll check sauces if they've been open too long i'm done For me, it's just if I, like, see mold, then it goes.

55:36Harrison:Oh, my gosh.

55:38Jules:No. Because I just, I can't handle getting food poisoning from something I could have avoided. Right.

55:44Harrison:You're sensitive to that.

55:45Jules:I'm so sensitive to that. He's so not.

55:48Harrison:Yeah.

55:48Jules:I think if he ate chicken that expired last year, he'd be fine.

55:51Harrison:He'd be fine. That's too much. He just has that body, like, and I just don't, right? if i ate yogurt that was expired tomorrow like it would just just it would devastate my stomach yeah

56:04Jules:for months and days so i think i think for a lot of people expiration dates there's probably a grace period but i just don't know i don't know like okay so turk so ground

56:22Harrison:chicken for example which is a big staple for me one time i was checking out at hgb and it wasn't

56:28Jules:expired yet but the girl was like no no no no and like called to get she replaced it and she was like look at the color of that it's supposed to be like really pink and that's starting to turn gray and i was like oh my gosh but i was like it's not expired yet and she was like yeah but it's bad and i was just like then what are we supposed to trust right when we had that um the power out

56:47Harrison:power outage in the cold storm or whatever i had gotten um ground beef the day after it which i think heb must have had some sort of an outage because i got food poisoning from it but it

57:01Jules:wasn't expired but it can't just be you that happened to no i know i've never been so sick in my life like so bad yeah yeah i do think if you get food poisoning from a place you should

57:11Harrison:tell them yeah i just threw everything out and then this is like my go-to meal i feel like you're the same way you eat the same thing over and over again i haven't eaten it since and it's like a big old bummer what's your go-to meal um like lettuce wrap tacos so i use like lettuce and then just the siete taco seasoning on ground beef yes cheese and tomato and avocado can't eat it anymore

57:37Jules:done yeah so one staple that i'm going back to when my stomach feels better that i really miss right now is uh my friend sammy makes it and she's also pregnant it's this sweet potato bowl

57:49Harrison:it's like sweet potato with ground beef and then honey oh yum oh my gosh it is so good yeah but

57:58Jules:i've had to be off the sauce for a little bit because nothing will settle i was big into um

58:04Harrison:That reminds me of the burger bowl. Did I ever talk to you guys about the burger bowls I was making? No, tell us. It's like you make a hamburger. I put cheese on top. But then it's like sweet potatoes as French fries. You put the lettuce in there. You put the tomato in there. You put the burger sauce in. It's a bowl instead of a...

58:21Jules:So good. See, that's the thing. Sweet potato, it kind of solves everything. Like I want a big... I would much prefer a sweet potato than a regular potato. Yeah.

58:31Harrison:I don't know. Really? I like love potatoes like a potato products bread products anything like that have you had um all veggie fries no they're called all about them though before oh my gosh I don't think I could

58:47Jules:do that I'm telling you I didn't think I could either it's a hash brown I've never I've never bothered reading the ingredients yeah I don't actually even know if there's any veggies in there yeah like I don't even care yeah but one night I was so desperate for a french fry hairs was like we have these i think they sent them to us so we popped them in the air fryer and i was

59:03Harrison:like oh my gosh yeah unbelievable i've seen them at the store and then i read not in a bad way read the ingredients like i read the ingredients that there was vegetables i said no thank you i'm

59:16Jules:telling you you gotta do like a blind taste test okay you would be because i've had a lot of veggie fries yeah and they're not good yeah but these fries are so they are just like truly crunchy they're unbelievable air fryer air fryer for the win okay what else should we talk about you're getting a new car we are getting a new car here's the thing when it comes to i read i read a statistic okay and it was if you drive a sedan on open roads you need a lesson in statistics and odds and then it goes on to say sedans are way more dangerous than suvs they're 140 more you're 140 more likely to die which is like such a dramatic headline yeah and it's twitter it's twitter like we cannot possibly pretend like that is the bible but it did make me think and like i i drive a range rover sport okay that's not a sedan by any means that's an suv but when you think about bringing another baby into that car like things get a little tight and now tate's got dance and she's gonna have music class and we're gonna do swim lessons and so we're gonna be like we need another car and it's been great sharing the car i mean harrison has the caddy but like that's not really kid friendly and so like if he needs to go somewhere he can but we need another um suv in the works and so yeah with baby number two we're getting a new car adding one to the equation a big one though like this one we're going practical on like what kind of car okay so this is why i'm so excited that we've partnered with edmunds because edmunds has and i'm telling you like they so they actually test cars they drive hundreds of cars every year and they give an unbiased review based on real data for these cars okay and so these are not just opinions so i've downloaded the edmunds app on here so i was looking at the classic the chevy tahoe oh okay i moved down here in one of those in a tahoe yeah yeah like if you go to oklahoma i think the most driven car in oklahoma is a tahoe oh i don't know don't quote me on it and here like it's so easy you just click tahoe okay what's new for 2026 minor changes um there's the fifth tahoe generation introduced from 2021 enhanced lane censoring okay Pros Roomy interior Which is what we want Smooth ride Massive touch screen Fuel efficient Diesel engine Cons Wow How about this as a con And my dad agrees with this Uncomfortable front and second row seats Oh That's so that's actually a no for me Do you know the other car I want to do?

1:02:00Jules:Yeah I want to look at Cause this is This one You know This is apparently the highest rated safety car the volvo xc90 is what okay suv or plug-in hybrid i don't know we're gonna do suv all right pros elegant interior yeah google-based technology of it what they're supposed to be like massively safe cons touchscreen controls can be hard to use third row seats are tight for adults okay hold on i think this is really fun can we just do my car right now yeah let's do my car land rover range rover sport suv um they don't have 2026 out yet okay uh pros six available power trains okay modern looking easy to see out of similar okay okay cons lacks on-road ability and driving enjoyment of some of its competitors.

1:03:07Jules:I love driving it. Poor ride quality with 23-inch wheels. Small item interior storage is lacking. Pricey versus the competition. Okay, well, it has a 4.0 overall rating.

1:03:25Jules:Last one. BMW X7 SUV. Okay, pros. Strong engine performance, smooth, comfortable ride, impeccably styled interior. Cons, expensive for its class. Some rivals offer more passenger and cargo space. But what are those rivals? Because I would do those.

1:03:50Harrison:I think you can side-by-side comparison on Edmunds, too. I'll have to do that later.

1:03:55Jules:Okay, that would be incredible. And then another one, you know the one Harrison wants? He doesn't, like, want this car, But I think he We rode in LA And it's so spacious As the Navigator But I just like I don't want a bus Right But you need the space But we need the space Like when you're sitting In our passenger seat And Tate's car seats behind you Like you can't recline Yeah And so we're about to be like Not even can you not recline You're sitting so uptight So I don't know

1:04:29Harrison:But once you guys pick out

1:04:30Jules:the the car that you want yeah okay so once once we're closer to buying and we pick out the one we want the best part about edmunds is they have massive inventory so you can see new and used options which i think there's a good case for a used car here 100 because everyone just says your kids are going to destroy your car like you there's no such thing as a type a mom car i have a tip

1:04:53Harrison:what i'm we're a big used car family buy a used rental car oh because they usually have more miles on them but they're always like have all of the bells and whistles that you need because rental cars they want to have like those things that light up on your side mirrors and the things that make it safe for many different people to drive so i my car's a rental car leather interior all the bells and whistles but very cheap because it had a decent number of miles on it well and the

1:05:25Jules:thing about us buying a high mileage car is we're not going to put a lot of miles on it right because we just drive in the city and like i always thought maybe we'll drive to dallas or oklahoma city no you're not doing road trips with kids yeah or at least not at this age we're not yeah um and so it's great it so we can edmunds has massive inventory and you can see new and used options you can we can filter exactly what we want and we can even see the out the door pricing and estimated monthly payment so they like put everything in one spot which is incredible and so if you guys are listening and you're growing your family or you're upgrading for safety or you're starting to think about a new car Edmunds makes the whole process so much easier and more

1:06:05Harrison:straightforward like this app they have is unbelievable yeah so if you're in the market

1:06:10Jules:check out edmunds.com that's edmunds.com to read reviews compare options and to see what's available near you.

1:06:19Harrison:Love it.

1:06:20Jules:Pretty cool stuff, huh? Edmunds is committed to delivering the most rigorous independent testing in the auto world. So maybe you guys need a new car. Maybe you're looking to upgrade to a larger SUV because you've got a new baby on the way or yours just doesn't fit your lifestyle now. And so Edmunds.com can help. Every year they drive more than 300 vehicles on the road at their private test track and deliver the definitive Edmunds rating. It's Edmunds seal of approval. They write reviews on the vehicles that they test. They provide a list of pros and cons as well as which trim Edmunds recommends and how it compares to competitors based on Edmunds testing and driving data.

1:06:59Jules:Once you're ready to buy, Edmunds.com also has massive inventory. You can see new and used options, filter exactly what it is that you want, and even see the out-the-door pricing and estimated monthly payments. Go to Edmunds.com to check out reviews and inventory.

1:07:16Harrison:okay well what else would you like to discuss I loved the thing we talked about yesterday which

1:07:22Jules:was about the naughty corner okay yes another brat busters moment for me she's just your girl I love her she's this girl on Instagram who just talks directly to the camera with her little microphone and she just answers these hard-hitting questions so she says the naughty corner sending your kids to the naughty corner is not doing what you think it's doing because you're saying go to the naughty corner you did something bad go sit over there and think about what you did they're not going over there and sitting and thinking about what they did number one they might not even want to sit over there number two they're thinking about when they get out of the naughty corner and number three they don't know how to think about what they did because you didn't tell them what they should do so like little kids brains don't work that way and then she goes on to say think about if you were at work and you did something wrong and they sent you to the corner to think about it it's like it wouldn't be effective I just think imagine you doing that to me just go stand in the corner and think about it it's like no like and and she says to the kids just sitting over there with like shame of like I can't play with my friends I don't really know what I did wrong and even if they know what they did wrong you need to tell them what they should do instead and so she's saying your naughty corner is not an effective idea what you need to do if they do something wrong remove them from the situation or just address it right there head on it's short and sweet and then you move on it's crazy it's crazy but I always thought like you know you send them to time out for five minutes I'm just sitting here trying to remember if I went to time out or not see and I don't know if I did either so I guess we didn't yeah I don't know but Bratbusters also says time out can be effective for both the parents and the kids but it's not time out standing facing a wall time out this is a time out this is a break this is a pause let's let's leave let's sit in a room let's cool off let's take a time out and like re-regulate our emotions yeah that to me feels effective

1:09:28Harrison:this reminded me i dm this to you but i don't think we ever talked about it have you seen the meme where people are like linkedinifying sentences no what does that mean i think p knows what i'm talking about but it'll be like sounds hilarious i i bought a car would be like the statement you're saying and then they're like um i used my main strength of decisiveness and da da da da and da da da da to buy myself my first automobile and I'm so proud because this isn't that and I what I DM'd you was one of my interview questions at my old job was um what's one thing you lied about on your resume and on the spot you had to look through your resume and say like yeah this isn't very true and I was wondering if you guys thought that that

1:10:21Jules:was a good interview question i think it's a great interview question and what's one oh go ahead well the interview question i don't like is what's your biggest weakness because every the number one thing they train you to say is turn a strength into weakness i'm too organized to a fault yeah it keeps me up at night i'm so organized so in their head they're thinking a good thing where i want you to be like i'm just 10 minutes late like i just will be 10 minutes late yeah and i just like want to know that up front so that's an interview question I don't like what I do like is I you have to tell me there's an area you lied on that resume or embellished what is it because everyone

1:10:58Harrison:embellishes on their resume I was gonna ask what's one place you would have lied on your resume um

1:11:03Jules:okay where would I have lied I oh I would have lied about previous job roles so I would have assistant I might have said like I don't know marketing director if I was logged into the Instagram right like you kind of take the role and you beef it up again because I and I understand why you're doing it and it's and then I think if the person told me this you know if they said okay I lied about I was actually an assistant but I said I was the marketing director because I did run the Instagram account and the reason I did that was because you got to tell people where you want to go not where you're at and i'd be like you know what touche i think you let both p and i

1:11:44Harrison:do that with our job titles it was like we don't care what our job titles are but we're like what could our job titles be if we want it to look good for our next job and that's the job titles we made ourselves and that's what you should do love it what i think is so dumb is like

1:12:00Jules:you're hiring somebody and they have to have seven years of experience well who's gonna start them on their seven years of experience like who's gonna go first and be like no years of experience required like nobody wants no years of experience required but then how is anybody ever gonna have any experience yeah interning i guess yeah i guess that's a question for us do we want to hire an intern this summer because we always are so late to that yeah now is february it's a really good

1:12:29Harrison:time to do it now i think we tried to we were looking for an intern in like september this year

1:12:33Jules:and that was like bad timing so now i guess i'll put it out there into the is it ether yeah i always get it wrong we'll put it into the ether if you want an intern for us you can email us perfect and i'm not even gonna tell them where to email us i just want to see how savvy you are do not dm if you dm me i'll throw your name out of the hat i will put up these question boxes like can i work for you i'm like okay julie got her job by emailing she found the email address yeah i i

1:13:02Harrison:I guessed what your email address was based off of. Really? Because you had just launched the Just Media website. And the website is the let back part of the email address. Okay. And like at most startups, like it's just gonna be first name at. And so I think I emailed like alex at justmediahouse.com and then I put it in an email checker first.

1:13:30Jules:oh and is there an email checker that says like yes this is an email yeah it basically means like

1:13:34Harrison:an email could be sent to this email it won't bounce yeah i emailed you on the heart most of

1:13:40Jules:time you can guess people's email yeah you do that a lot yeah if we're trying to like get to somebody

1:13:45Harrison:yeah 100 yeah and then probably like a year later i found a folder i think i think it was in the info email it just says favorite um favorite candidates or something like that and it's

1:13:58Jules:just an email with just me and ian ian i was like that that worked out that's so funny but yeah you can find i think you can find people's emails just like don't the dms they always crack me up yeah fine you gotta try a little harder gotta try a little harder because that's like their big if it were that easy right funny funny okay how long have we been going an hour 13. okay we're good did we do it I think so okay I mean you guys I don't know Harrison he never gets sick he didn't sleep a lot last night it's been a big big week for that man um work-wise and so I guess he's not returning um to the episode at this point I guess so so this is this is half Harrison and I have Jules and I episode we love you guys interesting first IRL episode yeah but We love you guys and we will see you on Monday.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, you get Two Parents for about 10 minutes… and then Jules takes over for Harrison. So for everyone who’s been asking in the comments for more Jules: this one’s for you (hi, mom). (ps. I still will not be going on camera. Don’t push it guys lol -Jules)

Before the handoff, we cover a LOT. Pregnancy sickness recovery being wildly unfair, whether we’re accidentally becoming sourdough people (apparently like Taylor Swift?!), and what it’s like doing Expo West with a toddler in tow. We share a Bubber buckle fracture update, a hard parenting rule we learned the hard way (never skip snack time), and get into glucose intolerance… plus the surprising internet consensus that sourdough might actually help??

From there, we talk neighborhood social committees, joining a junior professionals board, and then we officially made it past all the things we had planned to talk about that I could do without Harrison - cue Jules stepping in (being thrust in…). OK we covered - secret “single behaviors” we all do, whether bricking your phone ACTUALLY works, Millennials vs. Gen Z (Jules does, in fact, call Alex cheugy), and the importance of the group text.

We also discover you can apparently petition to bring back discontinued flight paths (??), play a round of Two Truths & a Lie (two truths… Jules can’t lie), and have a very real moment about how fast kids grow up.

Things We DMed takes a turn with a headline that stopped us in our tracks: a baby born from a womb transplant from a deceased donor — and the bigger ethical conversation that followed. Then it’s Bicker of the Week (expiration dates: law or loose suggestion?), a practical baby #2 conversation about needing a bigger car, why the naughty corner doesn’t actually work the way we think it does. We wrap with a quick note that we are hiring (kind of) — but if you DM us, you’re automatically disqualified.

LOVE YOU GUYS. Thanks for listening!!!
