1:21I don't know, but I saw a stat on creatine. Everyone's talking about creatine. It's everywhere. We know that. But then coincidentally, I saw a great stat for women also taking creatine. And I was going to share it on the podcast today, and I lost the stat. Well, women are supposed to take it. Yeah. Yeah. But there's all these things we're supposed to do. Who can keep track? 2:35Fox and soon. Yeah, okay. I'm going to stop. All right, ready? Set? Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents and a Podcast. You guys, last week, Jules told us that like 70 % of the people that watch the episode or listen to the episode aren't subscribed. And then a lot of you went and subscribed. So for those of you that are left unsubscribed, please go subscribe. And to clear up confusion, it's called follow on Spotify because people are like, I'm trying to subscribe, but I don't know how. So it's follow on Spotify, subscribe everywhere else. Interesting. I have always seen that follow button and I've never known what it is on Spotify.

3:15They're like, I follow. How do I subscribe? That's why people say like and subscribe. No. Just no. People say like and subscribe. They should say like, follow, and subscribe. Oops. Yeah, that was a brain fart. You like the video. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Well, you guys, I got to say this about – so I am officially today, one month away from having this baby. I'm so excited. I woke up with a little pep in my step because it's just like I can do anything for one month. But I'll say I'm at the stage now where like earlier today we were downstairs in our other office and I had a Diet Coke and I took a nap right afterwards.

3:53I am so excited. I love you. You're the best. You're doing so good. Thank you. Thank you for that. So I'm in a documentary. I didn't know it. Harrison showed me yesterday. Yeah, a friend messaged me and she's like, Alex is in the first minute and a half of a documentary on plastic. Yeah. So if you see that, if you're into microplastics and this documentary comes on your plate, just know, I didn't know I was going to be in that. And we learned that. Could I add it to my digital resume? Do you think? You are a documentary star. Yeah. Should I just, should I put that, should I add that to my LinkedIn that I don't know how to log into?

4:36I don't even think I have a LinkedIn. Do you have a LinkedIn? You do. I have a LinkedIn. I'm logged into it. Okay, good. Good for me. Am I active? No. Who the other day told me? Oh, it was. Oh, and his son and daughter listen to this podcast. Okay. There was a really sweet guy. I wish I could remember his name. He came to the flock booth at Expo West and he was like, I'm going to find you on LinkedIn. I'm going to post this on LinkedIn. And I was like, okay, I got to log into LinkedIn to see it, but I never did. But he was really sweet. So if that was your father, tell him I appreciated him coming by the booth for you.

5:09He came on behalf of his son and daughter-in-law. They have kids the same age as Tater. Love it. I know. It was really sweet. All right. Things I'm feeling being one month out. Emotional. And why am I feeling emotional? Because I feel like we talked about it last week. Like this is our last month with just me, you and the bubs. Like this is the last month of us being the three musketeers. And I just want to soak all that up. And I do feel like the only thing I have to say about it, because I've been going through this in my mind. All I'd say about it is time flies because I feel like I just had her.

5:42So has that, has it processed though? Well, one thing I was thinking about it. This is the last time. Like has that actually processed? Because it hasn't processed with me. No, I'm thinking about it all the time, Harrison. Like this is the last moment of the three Musketeers. And this has been such a sweet phase for us. It's your first kid. We learned how to do so, we learned all of our first was Bubz. Bubz slept in till 7.45 today. and I like was a little, I'm sure I'm going to eat my words on this. I was like upset that we didn't get our morning together. No, 100%. And here's the thing too, I was thinking about this last night or this morning because Maria was giving her, she gave her a cupcake or not a cupcake.

6:25She gave her a muffin. And guess what Bub said? Thank you. Thank you. Ain't you? Like something like that, right? And I was just like beaming with pride and I wanted to call you and I wanted to tell you that she said it. And then I thought this sweet little girl has mom and dad both on her, right? Like she's got mom and dad fully invested in every move she makes. And we know a baby's coming, but what we learned last week is like Tate understands baby brothers in the stomach, but she doesn't know that means he's going to come out and be there for life. And he's going to take half of our attention and everything's about to change.

6:58Like she doesn't know that's coming. And I just am having, it's mainly hormones, but I'm having all these emotions about it. Although the one that, okay. So then I did, I, of course, because of course I made a TikTok about it and this comment really helped me. It was a really, really, really happy comment. She said, you'll be surprised. She'll think that you did this for her. You're going to give her a best buddy. And I, and I was just like, so all the comments were like, I was so worried about this. It's the best thing ever. And so I, it's making me excited about it. Now I did see another thing.

7:31there's this phase that comes up that a lot of moms talk about which is mourning the last kid right so once we have our last kid whether that's kid three or four the last time they take their first steps the last time you breastfeed a baby the last time you install your newborn car seat like that it's it's you're then moving on to a different phase of life and i think that's really hard on parents i'm so emotional about all this right now so i I saw an unbelievable clip and it was an actor. It was the Saul from Better Call Saul Breaking Bad. Okay. I don't know. I don't know who it is, but yes.

8:06Okay. I know what it looks like. And he was asked, what is the one thing that you are jealous of right now? And he said, people with young kids. He said that was the best time. And I get it. Like one thing, our neighbors, we have a set of neighbors on our street that they get me excited for the high school and the college days because they go and visit their kids all the time. They're always taking family trips. And I do think there's beauty in every phase. We talked about Disneyland, but right now having your first kid, being able to experience everything for the first time, I'm really trying not to take this phase for granted.

8:46And I think kids, kids have changed my world and I know they have for you too. And I just, I never want, and I just, this moment going from three to four people in our family. Like I don't want to miss this moment. I want to embrace it all. And so I'm glad we can't travel. I'm glad we're home. I'm glad we're just like doing family stuff because it's really cute. Yeah, I am so happy being home and with our unit of three and soon to be four. So with this, what we're trying to do, because everyone's on spring break right now. So we're trying to do this like mini spring break for bubs because we don't have, And let me tell you one thing I'm really excited about is like when we do a spring break, when she's like in school and like we have a week off and we like do take a trip, I think that'll be really fun.

9:31Like I think the airport chaos will be fun. So yesterday we took Bubz to this place called The Thinkery. And do you know what I noticed? Please. Because they at The Thinkery, it's just this place in Austin, which is kind of like a it's a play zone, but it's all geared around like thinking. So it's like it teaches you gravity. It teaches you in one area, you basically, you go shopping for your groceries and then you take your groceries and you make them. Here's what I noticed. You cook every morning with Tate, real cooking. Yeah, and take her to the grocery store. And you take Tate to the grocery store and she gets her little shopping cart where she gets real food.

10:10This play zone had fake food. So Bubz was trying to eat the banana and I was trying to explain to her that's a fake banana. That's not a real bah, bah, bah. And she's like, bah, bah, bah. And I'm like, well, because typically she can eat her bananas. And so it's a very confusing. It's a direct parallel to at home when you let a kid stand on the table, then you take him out to a restaurant and you give them different table manners. They're like, no, I'm sitting at the table. Of course I can. At home with Dada, when Tate cooks, everything's edible and everything's real. and then we took her to a play area with a fake kitchen with bananas she couldn't actually eat nothing she could actually eat and i could just see her mind she she was like what is happening disaster so then it made me wonder this i don't think we're gonna get bubs a play kitchen i was just gonna say that's literally where i was going with it so we shouldn't get her a play kitchen bubs isn't getting a play kitchen i had thought she needed one bubs needs a mini kitchen with real food in it an easy bake oven julie my favorite thing when i was little i don't like when you call me julie juliana jules i cannot believe i forgot about easy bake ovens are they safe are they hot what what what what age can we can we get her one eight eight and up what that's why i remember it though not not not but is there like a heat issue it's a light bulb is it not and you watch her do it you make sure that that tate has an easy bake oven it's called the oven in your house yeah true we just need to investigate let's order one let's order an easy bake oven and let's see oh i used to love those wait the the heating element is no longer light bulbs what is it that's crazy i i don't know it's now an air fryer it's now just a fancy air fryer Well, honestly, we could maybe do.

12:02Yeah, I don't know. All I know was I was sitting there being like, you can't eat that banana. And I was like, this doesn't make any sense to her. This is silly. Like she would rather be in the real kitchen with the banana, like with you when she's cooking. She's putting all the ingredients in the bowl and then she gets to actually eat what she makes. So this play kitchen, I was like, we got to get out of here because this is just going to confuse her. Yeah, no, that's very unique dynamic. Isn't that interesting? Yes. After the age of 30, even responsibly drinking alcohol will make you feel less than 100 % the next day.

12:34So that's where Cheers Restore comes in. And we had Harrison try this, you guys. Obviously, there are more negative effects from alcohol than just dehydration, right? Otherwise, how could alcohol be hard on your brain and your liver? Alcohol has a depressant effect on your specific receptors in your brain. And alcohol is toxic to your liver, okay? So things that we know, right? but then enter Cheers. Cheers Restore is a dual action after alcohol aid. Ingredients support both your brain and your liver after consuming alcohol. Cheers was originally invented by a student at Princeton based on research into a novel compound called DHM, you guys.

13:15And don't just take my word for it. Cheers has appeared on Shark Tank, and today Cheers is sold in over 30 ,000 stores, including Walgreens, CVS, 7-Eleven, and Circle K. They've sold over 50 million doses, you guys. And Cheers is backed by doctors, PhDs, and over 1 ,000 verified clinicians who share it with their patients. And the promise is simple. You'll feel about 50 % better the next day or your money back. Same night out, way better morning with Cheers. For a limited time, our listeners are getting 20 % off their entire order by using code 2Parents at CheersHealth.com. Just head to cheershealth.com and use code 2PARENTS for 20 % off.

13:57After your purchase, they will ask you where you heard about them. Please support our show and tell them that we sent you. So what are, we're taking bubs to the rodeo. We're taking bubs to Petting Zoo. Okay, so we didn't go. So we were supposed to go to the Petting Zoo this morning. And we didn't go because Harrison had two calls and we couldn't move them. And the couple we were going to go with, they were going at 10. And so we were like, okay, we got to go later. She sent me photos of this Petting Zoo. I was like, let me know how it is. these goats they're one years old they're little they're like they're like tate size goats and you can go in there and play with them this petting zoo is awesome so let's do that this weekend yeah i would love to but what are we going to do with her tonight because we haven't done an activity with her today well here here's um one thing i was thinking was go was go to the park with a blanket and have a picnic with her but go to a different park than we're used to i like that or what about swimming oh my gosh i just ordered her swimsuits for her swim lessons that start next month they are so cute okay one of those two if you're listening to this hannah anderson today she's having a sale i don't know if she's having one tomorrow but as of today all the swimsuits i got were on sale which is crazy because like we're coming up on swim season but anyways um yeah i'd love to take her swimming that would be great we'll take her in the wagoneer so car update because a lot of people have been wondering we got okay so right now i have the range rover sport and a lot of people were dming me yesterday that's what got hit let's let's set the stage in case people aren't aware for whatever reason of what happened okay set the stage you podcaster no no you you please oh okay and by the way i gotta i gotta commend your energy today you you um you mentioned you were tired you yeah said you had to have a little nap beforehand and you were coming in here you're carrying this episode oh why because i took the nap well you're killing it thank you i took a nap before this i drank a full i drank a mini diet coke and i'm drinking another mini diet coke and too many is equals a real one so don't come at me at my don't diet coke count me i'm also in the fourth i'm in the last stretch i'm in the fourth inning there can't be possible ninth inning i'm in the ninth inning i was like that final inning the final inning of this thing so the baby's baked but um i fell asleep on the couch downstairs after i drank the diet coke i I mean, that's what I'm saying earlier.

16:12Like, that's the level of tired I am. And I've noticed in the morning, like, I can drink a coffee and then just, like, conk out. Which typically, I drink a coffee and, like, out of my way, I can run a marathon. So, anyways, I took the nap. And I wasn't – I don't know if you noticed, but I was, like, fully asleep. No, I did. I did. I asked you a question. And Joel was like, she's sleeping. Yeah, I was, like, KO'd. I was like, oh, didn't notice. Yeah, so that's why I have some energy right now. You deserve it. So, okay, so we got our car got hit in a hit and run at 2.07 a.m. And that's what we talked about last episode because our neighbor knocked on the door.

16:49He said, did you know your car was hit? I was like, what? So we went out there. We pulled the cameras. We now have the angle of the license plate. Like we're figuring. Yes. We're figuring all that out on one side. Okay. So we'll update you accordingly. But here's what I can tell you today. Okay. The update I can tell you today is State Farm. I think this is where I need to jump in. Okay, jump in. Because I think we need to talk about State Farm. I think we should too. But as the quarterback of the State Farm situation. Yeah, you're carrying it. I think I'd like to share our experience. Please share.

17:30Because I think that there's always fear with insurance, right? Is this not fair? Like anytime you like have to use insurance, I feel like everyone's like you're nervous that like you're going to get screwed. Yeah. Like when I had that car, I didn't use my insurance. Yeah. So I was very concerned about how this was all going to play out. We're on State Farm. I've seen the commercials. Jake from State Farm. Jake from State Farm. Exactly. So here's our experience. I call them the day after the hit. I tell them exactly what happened. Within 30 minutes, we have one phone call. Within 30 minutes, there's a tow truck at our house.

18:17They had rerouted the repair center. Land Rover suggested a repair center. They found a different repair center for us to take it to, one that they work with that's actually closer to our house that they can help if anything goes wrong. And they had enterprise call me and have a car locked and ready to go. Truly. And can I say what can I say? Sorry. All so and I said I was like, so all this stuff happens. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa. This feels very expensive. And And so I, you know, and it's for the price of our deductible, which was, I think, very reasonable. And so I call our state farm representative.

19:08Their name is not Jake. And I say, hey, how much are our monthly payments going to go up for exercising this? And they said, no, this is completely not your fault. And so there'll be no change to your monthly payments. What? Yeah. Or premium is not going up? No change to premium. If it's not your fault? Is that why? Is that when your premium goes up? I assume, you know, I'm no insurance expert here, but I assume that I think that the manner in which it all went down, and given we were so not at fault, no change to the monthly payments. Do we owe anything out of pocket? Yes. That's fine. I would rather.

19:50That's what I said. We have to pay our monthly, we have to pay a deductible. But other than that deductible, it's very reasonable. So long story short, we've had an amazing experience with State Farm. This is not an ad. Not an ad. But I think like when a big organization takes care of you, it deserves to be called out. I was very, very nervous. I want to take it as – Like they didn't – like what I love is they didn't like – they didn't make it like pulling teeth. Yes. Like you explain the situation and they knew exactly what to do and they ran and they executed with it. I also want to say, because he did two calls on speakerphone.

20:32These girls, they were like, hi. Oh, heck. I am so sorry. But you know what? I'm happy everyone's okay. So you're telling me no one was in the car. Good. A hit and run. You hate to hear it. Okay, I'm going to file it right now. I was just like, oh, I feel like you're in this with me. Their empathy training was very good. Like whoever State Farm has answering the phone calls, especially in Texas. Yeah, they're very empathetic. They are so sweet. The next girl you call and you were like, hi, I just missed a call from you. She's like, oh, hey, Harrison. I just, you know, I'm just going to text you your claim number because we've got it filed now.

21:05I'm just going to text it to you. It'll be easier. I was like, are you kidding me? Instead of being like, you need to log on to the portal. Here's the one thing that shocked me is like, is the lack of double asking questions. So the tow truck picking up the car. She's like, where did the accident happen? I said, our house. She's like, is the car drivable? I said, no. So you can still your house? I was like, yes. And that's all we discussed. Oh, and she's like, well, you need a tow. And I said, yes. So, and then the next thing I know, I get a text being like, the tow truck's going to be there in 20 minutes.

So here's what I was going to, this is why I specified what kind of car I had.

22:56It's great for one car seat. I'm a little worried about the spacing that's going to happen with two. And it's ironic because our car seat for the new baby boy just arrived. We got the Duna, just the new Duna. And we haven't put it in yet. And I'm glad we haven't put it in yet because the car seat would be void. Oh my God. Imagine if you put it in. It would suck so bad if we put it in and then both car seats are void. Wait, wait. I missed that. I was texting. I know. And let's not text. Alex was saying, imagine had you like been proactive and put the duna in the car. It'd be void. And then it got hit.

23:32The car. And then you'd have two void. I was thinking about that today. And I talked about being proactive and putting it in the car. I know. I literally talked about it. I know. Wow. I know because I was talking in the belly and I was telling him, I was like, this craziest thing happened. and I was like, oh my God, your car seat was here. Well. But we didn't put your car seat in the car yet. So anyways, all that to say, we've been talking a lot about, we've been kind of dreading putting the second car seat in the car because it's just going to get like cramped in there. So Harrison had said the other day, it was ironic.

24:02He was like, I just, this Wagoneer looks good. I want to test drive the Wagoneer. So lo and behold, careful what you wish for. We get the hit and run. Land Rover doesn't, and I think this is common. Land Rover doesn't give you rental cars if you're going to have them for a long time. They don't give you loaner cars for a long time. So we had to rent our car from Enterprise. And Harrison called and was like, do you have Wagoneers? The guy was like, well, we'll have one tomorrow. And he's like, can I come and get that? So we rented the Wagoneer to test drive it. Our consensus, well, I've got a million DMs from you guys saying, this is what I did not expect from them, but a lot of maintenance issues.

24:36I got a lot of DMs saying, careful with the Wagoneer. This is happening. this and i know listen there's no car known for more maintenance issues than land rover and i've always known that and i'm okay with it but apparently that's a big thing with um the wagoneer as well and i'll just tell you this way too big for us way too big for this city i think we got the extended and rear end it's got a ton of space right and what i will say though is i love the window like how how much window visibility they give you well if and if we had a if we had a sunroof in that thing that went all the way back i think it would be it would open it up a lot yeah like i i hate when cars like have a lot of the um like the the window space is taken up by i don't know blind spots whatever blind spots metal like pretty much the whole thing is is is windows which makes like navigating the streets a lot easier in such a big such a big bus well here's what i'll say like if we were going on a road trip um this car would be phenomenal if we had four kids right now phenomenal the only thing about austin is while it's in texas it's a compact car city i it's a huge learning it's a huge learning it is a it is a compact car city like This is not a classic Texas car-sized city.

26:03Our Whole Foods parking spots are generally smaller, I think, than most Whole Foods. And we have a lot of parking garages downtown. And those turns are tight. The Spray and Drower Sport is as big as I think I want to go. Which is confusing when it comes to car seats. So I don't know. Like that Volvo that gets the really good safety ratings. That's the biggest, I think. so I don't know this Wagoneer you've been so in my ear about a big car and to hear you backtracking it's unexpected yesterday at Thinkery I had to parallel park I don't know if you noticed I nailed it but I was profusely sweating and I'm an exceptional parallel parker so anyone that's a little less good than me at that level like South Congress with a Wagoneer is a nightmare like I cannot imagine oh those those crazy diagonal parking spots or if you pair like that thing it's just like it's too big for the city but I it's a great car for a family yeah it's just it's too big for this so can I can I bring in a subject that wasn't on the programming list you can you can oh where were you gonna go I was gonna go to the buckle fracture but we'll go where you're going so i wanted to um dog on the oscars on monday yes you did and what what we forgot to do it um but basically i just like i don't remember an award that growing up i felt like was so prestigious and now has just become such a non-event uh-huh okay and like one we watched the Oscars and we how long did we get through it five minutes I think realistically 15 yes but me it was well as opposed to the Grammys where we were talking about the songs we were like okay Bieber's killing it like he's like we had a lot to talk about we had a we had a really fun time watching the Grammys and the Oscars like outside of the outfits it feels like straight boredom and I saw a quote on Oscar ratings and the Oscar ratings declined in 1996 26 45 million people watched okay in 2016 34 million people watched okay in 2026 17 million people watched 45 million to 17 million yeah wow yeah but i i understand why that is because they're not doing anything to revive it and loop us in it felt so hunger games ish in what way just like fancy people sitting in these you know crazy costumes and i don't know the whole thing felt very out of touch i just think that there's i just think that there's lack of interesting things happening there's no other way i know how to put it there's a snooze it's a bunch of movies that a lot of us haven't seen because there's just so much more going on in the world right now like a lot of times i think the decline in seeing movies has been huge too because you're just kind of scrolling your phone so music's more interesting yes but media and content consumption has never been higher and so you haven't updated the award show for what people care about well i was just gonna say though like i could have watched the oscars for three hours or i could watch the two interesting things on my phone for 30 seconds on monday or so cut it down but make it interesting and exciting because the Grammys, I'd love to, do we think we can pull the Grammy viewership?

29:34I can try. But the Grammys is so relevant and interesting and I don't know. But you also look at, I think the best example of it was what the Grammys did for Best New Artist where they had every single artist perform and you saw... Grammy viewership also going way down. Okay, so maybe just a team that worked in. Grammy viewership 14.4 million this year in 2012, I can't get 2016, 39.9 million. Whoa. Okay. So less people watched the Grammys than they did the Oscars. I just think people aren't like watching award shows these days because why would, I can just see all the outfits, which is all I care about the next day.

30:15And you can even just see the best ones. Yeah, so I guess it speaks to a combination of the struggles at the networks, but also the lack of updated programming. 31:53She was with Goldie and Kurt And her brother and her husband And they were cheersing And she was like family affair So cute I was just at an event For her brother's alcohol Kate just like This is very interesting This is all coming together Kate is having a moment Which I love to see I love to see Did you know her brother? It was All America. I didn't know she had a brother. It was Captain America. No. Wait, what? Yes. What's his name? Willie. Willie Hudson. Really cute name. I'm showing her brother's name's Oliver Hudson. I think it's Oliver. It is Oliver. I can't be making this up because I know the guy, he said it because he lived in Vancouver.

Read the full transcript

32:42And I was like, why did you live in Vancouver? and and that's because his parents moved there for a period of time. Goldie Hawn. That's how we got here. He was messing with you. No, come on. Search their kids. Search, search. Is his name really Willie or are you making that up? That's my best guess. That could be Oliver. Oh my God. And they were at the founders were at his house on Sunday. Why Russell, the half brother, is Captain America. Thank you. Wyatt Russell, the half-brother of Kate Hudson, is Captain America. And he has an alcohol brand. King Street Vodka? No. Lake House Seltzer. So it's funny.

33:23Lake Hour. Lake Hour Seltzer. It's a great drink. So that's funny. It's a great drink. Wyatt Russell is Kurt Russell's. But is Goldie Hawn his mom? I don't think so. Who's his mom? Because what I never realized about Kate Hudson was Kurt's not her dad. I am so confused. Wyatt Russell's mom is Goldie Hawn. Yes. Okay, so that's why they're half, because Kate's dad's not Kurt Russell. Kate's mom is Goldie Hawn. She's a different dad. She's in a strange relationship with him. I'm not a good pop culturist, but is this a good transition to our Southern Charm update of the week? Yes, but hold on. Let's just nail down this family tree really quick.

33:59Is Oliver Hudson Kate's blood full? They both have Goldie as the mom, but they've got a different dad than Kurt. but I saw Kate Hudson on Good Morning America and they zoomed in Kurt Russell and she calls him Pops she was like hi Pops so she doesn't call him dad because she's a different dad but he has always been her father figure what a great Pops it was really cute or Posh kind of Pah but he is her father figure okay so Goldie Hawn when I think Kate Russell no Kate Hudson when I think Kate Hudson I think How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and her just murdering it in that movie in the yellow dress Yeah.

34:35She's iconic. Yeah. And I don't have a lot of those memories, but she was, and Matthew McConaughey was in that, right? Yes. It's just, there is no better movie. Okay. We have some big Craig updates though. Hold on. Oliver and Kate have the same parents. Correct. And then Wyatt's got Goldie and Kurt are his parents. And they have another son, Boston Russell. Boston's a good name. And she has more half siblings on another side from her father. So I'm sorry. Does Goldie Hawn have four kids? Correct. Okay. I did not know this. Okay. Interesting. Cool. Well, good for them. Cute. Yeah. Well, why was very lovely?

35:22We need like one of those cork boards. And we're very supportive of his brand. Lake Hour. Lake Hour. And is this a good segue to our Southern Charm weekly update? Is that a new segment? Jules? People in the Spotify comments, they said, this is my new favorite weekly segment. I said, it's not a weekly segment yet. Now it is. Hold on. Now it is. Hold on. What episode are you on? So we just finished season. So we started on season 10 and we just finished season 10. How many episodes or how many seasons are there total? And we just started season 11, and that's the most recent season. I don't know if all the episodes have come out yet.

36:04Who's we? Just you. Just me. You. Okay. Okay. And so some developments from last episode. And I definitely feel bad because I feel like I was hard on Craig last week. You were a bit. And then the episode that I watched after, after being hard on Craig, he came out and said he was an alcoholic. Oh, Craig. Yeah. Yeah. And he had a very, he had a very nice moment with his friend and he talked all about how he didn't mean to pull back. Austin. The guy you told us about last week. Yep. He had a very sweet moment with his friend Austin who didn't mean to pull back, but he felt like he needed to stay inside and be on his couch.

36:52because if not, that was his only way he could get away from the alcohol. And it was definitely a very powerful scene. Was he vulnerable? He was very vulnerable. And then his friend was also very vulnerable. But then after the season ended, they do this thing with Andy Cohen where they get everyone on and they talk about the season. You guys aware of this? The reunion. Very popular in reality TV. It's a phenomenal, phenomenal segment. Harrison's going to host the next reunion. He can't believe they exist, these reunions. I get why Andy Cohen gets paid the big bucks. Like he is just in, like his ability to navigate this cast of characters and ask the hard-hitting questions is as good as it gets.

37:46Does Andy Cohen do more than just like have a list of questions? Does he go off the fly? Depending on what people say. Oh, yeah. Okay, that's pretty cool. I've never watched a reunion. Yeah. And the reunion was a little tough because you're feeling for Craig because he has this vulnerable moment. But then he just like can't stop lying and he gets caught in all these lies. But he won't own getting caught in all these lies. And so you're just like, come on, buddy. Like and his friends are trying to give him an out being like, Craig, it's okay. you were different at that time and he just like won't back off of it so oh yeah it wasn't a great show are you team craig or not uh you know we want to be uplifting on this podcast so no comment okay so we're not sure okay so you're now starting season 11 i'm i'm looking forward to you watching season 11 because i've seen some spoilers which i will not say yep um and i would love to hear your commentary on season 11 so hopefully you can make some headway on that this weekend there's so much noise around weight loss right now.

And here's the thing. She wore her cast 24 seven.

40:07And I think that had a lot to do with it. But I'm really, I was really hopeful about this doctor's appointment and she was able to take off her cast. So she's cast free. Yeah. You ordering the wraps for the cast was such a smart idea because like she truly had her cast on 24-7. What was this thing actually called? Because I think it's confusing when you call it a cast. She had a sling. Splint. No. She had a splint. She had a splint. She had a splint. And sometimes she would start to un-Velcro in the mornings and then usually Harrison or Maria or me, whoever was, like we went immediately to the pile of all the colors.

40:48We'd let her pick it and we'd wrap it and it just like solved it. Like I got to give it to Bubz. She did not ever try to take this thing off once it was wrapped. Yeah, but I got to give it to you is you put the pieces in place with her always wearing it, both with starting with us wearing them. But obviously, like over time, that faded. And so figuring out this this wrap was very smart. And like it just feels like one of those things where like, yeah, if we just weren't on it, it could have dragged out. And it obviously could have could have could have created longer term issues for her. And so I'm so happy that that didn't happen.

41:22Well, I just think whenever their bones are little and they're not fully formed yet, it's important that they heal well. Yeah, for sure. And so I'm glad that we were just – it just feels good to be on top of it, to have it for three weeks and then to move on. Yeah. And that's what we did. And so, yeah, if your kid ends up in a splint and they do want to take it off, I don't give a lot of tips out on here. But one thing that did work for us is ordering – it's like pre-wrap that you used to put in your hair. On Amazon, I typed in pre-wrap and it popped up. I don't know. There was a multicolor pack.

41:51It was really cheap. And I just wrapped it in that. And it was like she loved it. She loved picking out her color. Harrison, a lot of times, would coordinate her outfit to her wrap, which was cute. We were out of colors at the end, so we were almost going to have to do a re-up. Oh, really? Yeah, they were clashing with their outfits. No, we simply can't have that. Now, I want to talk about the hospital bill because I went in to look at, because one thing that we had said we would talk about is the hospital bill and we're at the end of bubs's buckle fracture era and so the time is now so what i looked at was how much so er bills in general our total er bill with i think what is considered pretty standard to good insurance was 1010 and 21 cents now so then i went in and i had them break that down so when you go to the er you've got a physician service plus a hospital fee.

42:44Now the hospital fee is a fixed fee you pay no matter what, even if you've hit your deductible. We haven't hit Tate's deductible, but it doesn't matter because you're paying this fixed fee no matter what. And how much was that fixed fee? That's the problem that's confusing is the hospital fixed fee plus physician service are combined on the receipt. The total of that is$1 ,006 for the physician, physician plus the hospital fee. Our insurance covered$272 of that. So we paid 733. Okay. Then for the x-ray, they charged$368. Our plan covered a hundred dollars of it. So we paid 268. And that's why our total was$1 ,010 and 21 cents.

43:33Now they had us pay that there before we were able to leave remember that girl kept coming in and she said you have to pay this before you go so i looked up can you not pay it and they said yes you cannot pay it a lot of times they'll push back on you but you are allowed to leave not paying it they just will suggest you can do payment plans you can question you can ask for itemized receipts you can ask for discounts etc but when we were sitting in there the girl came in three or four times and she was like please pay this so i was under the impression you had to pay it to leave but i know that that's just not the reality of everyone's situation and so you can say can i please pay this later um but what i did not know about er bills pull some tips for negotiating down a hospital bill cheese what i did not know about the er bill is that there is a fixed hospital fee no matter what and most of the time it said that's between two and five hundred dollars just fixed no matter what even if you've met your deductible that you have to pay um and then the physician services are always on top of that x-rays are on top of that if she needed to cast not a splint on top of that so that's how interesting yeah that's how things thank you for looking into that you're welcome okay i think the number one thing is like asking for that itemized bill and like suddenly it comes back differently but apparently if you offer to pay in a lump sum immediately you can you can pay less you can say I'll pay you right now.

44:59I'll pay 800 right now if you take it for 800. That's just like insane though. But I'm sure that when they look at collection rates, once you leave the hospital, they're significantly lower than the initially proposed bill. So. So offer to pay a lump sum, but is there any strategy to what that lump sum is? Do you just say I'll pay the hospital fee? It says that you can get 20 to 40 % lower if you offer to pay right then and there. Okay. So offer to pay a lump sum, but don't pay the full sum. A lump sum. So of our thousand dollar bill, we should have been like, I'll pay$500. What we could have paid for is the hospital fixed fee and the x-ray.

45:33Maybe. But what was funny was when I called, we loved the hospital we went to. Yeah, we really liked it. I'll just say it was difficult to get to the billing department. Very difficult. I can't believe you did that. How long did it take? Like 30 minutes. we needed like we said we would talk about it and like this is the end of the bubber era with the buckle fracture i want to put it to bed so i broke down our bill um okay is that it for that guys we feel good about it i think so here's the thing about cleaning products you use them every single day sometimes multiple times a day for me it's multiple times a day and that's where branch basics comes in you guys because your environment plays a much bigger role and how you feel than most people realize.

46:26A lot of conventional products look clean, smell clean, and they even say natural on them. But many still contain ingredients linked to hormone disruption, skin irritation, and respiratory issues. Branch Basics changes that entirely. Their premium starter kit comes with the powerful concentrate, and it's one powerful concentrate that makes everything from laundry detergent, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner, and even pet wash and vegetable rinse. I've been using this every single day, multiple times a day on our counters, on the floor, anywhere that I need to. And I gotta say, I feel really confident about bubs than going and eating something off of that.

47:03And I feel like my house is toxin-free and I'm very, very excited about that. So here's the good news. Branch Basics is now available everywhere you shop at Target, Target.com, Amazon, and of course, BranchBasics.com. Tossing the toxins has never been more convenient. And for anyone grabbing the premium starter kit, you can still get 15 % off at branchbasics.com with our code two parents. Just use code two parents for 15 % off the premium starter kit at branchbasics.com. After you purchase, when they asked where you heard about them, be sure to mention our show. Okay. So next thing I want to discuss is comments from the video about the AAP updating their policy for screen time.

47:48Right. And if I summarize what their policy for screen time was, basically it's like make screen time like dessert. It doesn't replace a meal. It's a nice to have. That's the first thing. The second thing that they say is make it a family time activity. Don't just like plop your kid in front of it and walk off. They don't give you exact amounts of time that your kid should be on the screen, but they're just saying let's not replace going outside with it. Let's not replace reading with it. If you need to do it, if you want to do it, it's an hour here and there just like dessert. Dessert's not after every meal and it's not every day.

48:20Maybe yours is, but in this scenario, it's not. Okay, so I pulled the three comments that I thought were relevant. Number one, Rachel May G98. People who parent or care regularly for children who don't do screens or do very few screens, like a movie or less a week, are having completely different experiences. I adore time with kids that don't do screens. They're completely different children than those who have an iPad or are allowed to look at their parents' phones or watch a screen daily. iPads should never, and I mean never be given to a child, and a TV should be once a week or less a treat.

48:54That's from Rachel. That is not from me because I don't have a pulse on this screen time stuff, but that was the most liked comment. No, but I think that that comment, Terry, is very aligned with what we hear. Yeah. I'm going to read the rest of them, though. Yeah. And then, you know, SRSB, she chimes in, and this is from a mom. So there's two caretakers on here, people that work with kids, and then there's one mother. Okay. Okay, so the mom says, it's replacing me not being able to hold my baby because I'm reprimanding a toddler who's hysterically screaming. It allows me to cook and drink water and function as a human.

49:25I think that's also important. I think that's a very fair response from her. And then the village preschool says, we observe children with less screen time generally have, oh, sorry. We observe that children with less screen time generally have excellent speech and vocabulary. They are calmer and able to regulate themselves well. Their ability to advocate for their needs is excellent. I don't advocate for zero screen time. These children are digital natives. I do advocate for learning through play till age five to six. I think that's a very well-written comment. Yeah, so do I. And I feel like this is one of those things that like, obviously we talk about all the time, but it's incredibly relevant to us and what we're going through.

50:12And it's something that, that we feel, we feel strongly about. So then there's, there's this comment from Victoria. There's this comment from Victoria in the YouTube. And she says, when you have a full-time nanny every day, it's super easy to judge people who do screen time, just saying. And I think one thing I want to say back to that is I think we do a very good job of not judging people who do screen time. I think we explore screen time. I think as a parents, but be just people on the planet, you've got to stand for something, right? And like, you have to have your areas where you feel passionately about.

50:41and maybe for some people it's food. For some people online, they're like, I cannot believe that child still has a pacifier, right? Like everyone has their areas. And one for us that's important and that we pay close attention to the effects of is screen time. I don't think we judge people. And we're the first - We really don't because everyone's situation is so different. But we're also the first to say we have full-time help. We have Maria, we love her. And as a content creator, I always like to get in front of not painting an unrealistic expectation. Like I don't want to pretend like I watch bubs all day, every day and come to work like, you know, and work out postpartum.

51:21Like, I think it's very important to paint a full picture of what's happening. And of course we have Maria and Maria doesn't do screens. And so it is a really, really nice thing to have. But I don't, I want to, I want to nail this home of we feel two things are true at the same time. We feel passionately about understanding the effects of screen time and talking about it on this platform that we have, because I think we didn't know going into parenting about screen time. We didn't know about formula there. We didn't know about pacifiers. We didn't know about CPR for kids. Like there were so many things we didn't know about that.

51:55I think we learn alongside with you guys. But the second thing is we always say, if you do screen time, we understand how that's like a helpful thing in the house. if you're fully at home, if you've got multiple kids, like we're about to come on to baby number two. We say a lot, like we don't know what that holds. So we definitely don't judge you. And I think we do a really good job, um, painting the reality of our situation with Maria. So that's what I'd say about that. I just thought the comments were interesting because it was, there, there was both. You saw people that observe children. You saw somebody that's a mom.

52:28And I think those are important comments because it paints both pictures. So that's my screen time. I saw that the clip was like, there was people commenting on it and so I just wanted to touch on it because I think it's, I think screen time is something that we're, the pendulum is swinging back on because we're learning so much about it, which we talk about will be AI in a few years too. All right, bicker of the week, you ready? Do I not know it? You do know it. What is it? That's why I'm saying, are you ready? What? I have no idea what it is. Well, I'm going to present it to you. So do I know what it is?

53:00Yes. We spoke about it yesterday. day it's the clean up the house let's hear okay big hero of the week this is a scenario all right wife when you have a minute can you clean up some today husband yeah i'm going to do a bunch of laundry and run the dishwasher to her okay but that's not cleaning up that's just the normal stuff we do every day is she right does that stuff not count what do you think i know what i think What do you think? I think it's a communication issue. I think it was really nice that he says, I'm going to do a bunch of laundry and I'm going to run the dishwasher. He's trying to do cleaning up things.

53:42But she had a different expectation. I think she should have been like, I mean more so. Can you pick up all the toys? I want you to wipe off that table and can you organize our son's closet? Yeah, I'm completely aligned on this. Like the request is so fair. And but the other side of it is like we can't be in in general, we can't be expected to read our partner's minds. And I feel like you and I have worked so much on that. And it's funny, like an example of it was last night where like you were going up to bed and you said like, please like take Winnie's spaghetti and make sure that her spaghetti bowl and make sure it ends up in the dishwasher.

54:29And like you wanted something very, very specific and you clarified what that was. Because I think like the other side to it of parenting is like your house gets so messy so fast. Right. So fast. And like if we do a full clean, 15 minutes can go by and it looks like a storm hit it. And I think like what I've learned about me and I've learned about you is like there are things that like oftentimes you can't get 100 % of the clean done. But 20 % of the clean or 30 % of the clean or 40 % of the clean will make you happy, will be sufficient before you go to bed. And so just like outlining what exactly that is.

55:21Being a mom has really equals me having to lower my cleanliness standards. So I call it the reset the night before, which is like, I like the kitchen counter cleaned off. I like all the dishes in the dishwasher and I like everything picked up off the ground. That's my new standard of like a nightly reset. Whereas it used to be before bubs was there, everything, I would vacuum. Well, I still vacuum. But here's my, here's my number one point that I want to drive home with this that I'm thinking about now. Clean to you is stuff picked up. clean to me is crumbs off the counter and surfaces wiped down and floors vacuumed but there can be 14 things on the counter for you yes but my counter is clean and there's no crumbs and i've even vacuumed out the drawers there's like open mail and like books and boxes boxes and like It's shopping bags and it's like you can go upstairs with that.

56:23For me, I need all of that off of the table and in the garbage or in its proper place. And that's where like it is the perfect combo. But your table – Because I don't care about the crumbs. But your table has crumbs on it and crumbs below it. So we have different types of clean, which is why I think whenever you and I are talking about it, if I want you to do something, I have to be specific. I have to say I want that bowl not just in the sink. I want all the way in the dishwasher. Sure. And I've learned for you, one thing if I'm cleaning for both of us, I'm putting, you've taught me this, I'll put all the items in one area and then put them all up and then wipe my surfaces.

56:57Yeah. Like you're happy to leave the plates, the clean plates on the counter. Yeah, if they're clean and my counter is wiped down and my silverware door is vacuumed. And to me, that's good. Jules, why are you laughing? I just don't care about any of these things. I care deeply. But I live alone. that's the best though because sometimes i'll walk in the room and i have just as much stuff in the bedroom scattered around as he does but i only see his i walk in that room and i think well i know where mine goes i know where all mine goes that's just sitting there because i'm gonna wear it tomorrow and then your stuff i'm like but you have this whole pile over here and he's like but you also have a pile and i'm like what so i've learned to put my piles up have you noticed no but you don't need to worry about putting your piles up because you just worry about baking that baby i think the the also just like change of dynamic though around cleanliness is like before you have a kid like it it's it's very easy to attribute who should be cleaning up the mess right in theory the person who made the mess should clean up the mess but with a kid the number one mess maker can't clean up the mess.

58:09So inherently, like, you need to have a completely adjusted mindset around cleaning up and around general climate mess. I've actually taken over a lot of the cleaning because you've been doing so much bubs time. I've been trying to keep the kitchen clean. You're doing a phenomenal job. Thank you. Yeah, and I do. I have some, just on that note, I do need help with this new boy's closet. I ordered. Okay, so I finished his nursery. So our, because you'd canceled our cards and because you didn't want the reoccurring payments to keep going through, our rug declined. By the way, that whole effort didn't work.

58:51Yeah, everything on mine is just like, everyone's just emailing me being like, you're real. Like, I'm signed up for dance class, this. I'm just like, oh, gosh. But all my online things have stayed. because they just I know because the system has gotten so smart that it just added the new card number to it I don't know it wasn't efficient all this to say his nursery rug has officially shipped so it'll be here next week so we needed that and then we needed art for his room to go beside the rocking chair but guess what I got instead clouds and moons that light up and they're like remote controlled and you stick them on the wall they're really cute yeah you excited about that or no?

59:31Oh yeah, over the moon. Over the moon. Pun intended. And you're going to hang them. Perfect. And hopefully help me do the closet. Done. Okay. Whatever you need. I just was thinking today, like I did Bubz's closet yesterday. I did some clean, I did like a little clean out of it. And I don't know if you noticed, I took the ball pit and all the things out of her room. And then. I was wondering what all that stuff was doing. I did a room clean for her. Do you want that in the garbage? I want to donate it. Okay. I want to donate the ball pit. But I need to do his room. I'm just going to bring the ball pit to the neighbor's house.

1:00:05That's what you do with everything. Yeah. And on the note of organizing and on the note of it being our last, you know, month with the Bub Rater, we got to go get her. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we’re officially in the last month of pregnancy (HOW did that happen?!) and yes I was emotional Monday about transitioning from a family of 3 to 4… and I’m even more emotional now (sorry HORMONES).

We talk about what this transition actually feels like, how we’re trying to soak up this final stretch before baby #2 arrives, and a concept I’ve been hearing a lot lately: the “last of the firsts.” We also share some toddler “spring break” ideas that have been keeping us entertained this week.

Then we get into a few real-life updates: where things stand with hit-and-run gate, our current family car situation (and thoughts on the Wagoneer), and wrapping up the buckle fracture saga - how we navigated a toddler in a splint for 3 weeks and what we learned from the experience, including a breakdown of what a trip to the ER ACTUALLY costs.

We’re also apparently “pop culture-ists” now (as Harrison calls it): Oscars takes, Kate Hudson’s family tree, and our (read: Harrison’s) latest Southern Charm thoughts.

We wrap with a conversation on screen time for toddlers (different perspectives) and Bicker of the Week: communication styles around cleaning - because apparently “clean” means very different things depending on who you ask.

LOVE YOU GUYS. Thanks for listening!!!
