43Hello. All right, we're going to go. Okay, and I said don't talk to me because it's not. Oh, I'm going to talk to Jules. No, don't do it. It didn't really work the last time. Okay, we're going to mute Jules. All right. Okay. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. You guys, we are... I think you muted Nick so I can't hear you. yep we did that so we muted jules we muted and that's that's how you know we're doing we're remote we're doing our best we're doing our best we are but i and i need award a plus to you and jules for getting this whole situation set up remote in very short order while harrison took tate on the golf cart which trouble there to go find horsies golf cart golf cart horsey that's what she said to me when I went out there.

32Golf cart, golf cart. She loves it. The horses have been the theme of the weekend. So we are in, here we go. I'm already getting corrected. Serenby. No. Serenby. Serenby. Serenby. No, Seren. We're in Serenby. Serenby. Serenby. Serenby. Georgia, you guys. And let me tell you what, it is beautiful. So why are we here? Well, first of all, can we describe the town? Yeah, but hold on. Okay. If you're listening, number one, happy Monday, maybe Tuesday. Thanks for listening. We're recording Sunday night. We're recording Sunday night. So it's the night before I'm about to post an Instagram story after this saying, well, you know, actually I was going to say it was the night before Christmas, but apparently July 25th is actually Christmas in July.

26So some of the people at the birthday party today, they were like, what'd you do last night? And I was like, nothing what you guys do. And they're like, well, we went to a bar and there was a Santa Claus there because it's Christmas in July. And I was like, no way, because we saw the Christmas in July on the website when we were booking this hotel. But this to me, it's a real thing. It feels like a continuation of July 4th while acting as a celebration of the greatest country in the world. Also being New Year's Eve 2.0. Yes, a bit. You know, but I. Plays into that theme. It does. I'm going to be honest there.

01You lost me like a little, but. Like three weeks ago, I talked about how July 4th. Yes, was the new. That was a great time to reset and treat it as like your New Year's goals. Yeah. Right? Yeah. Following. Yeah. And so now we're tying. Oh, Christmas into that as well. The real Santa Claus for our listeners. Yes, because Santa is. Very well. So Santa, you know, as all of our little ears, because little ears listen to this, as they all know Santa only comes in December but to Georgia Santa came last night he just he paid a visit because Georgia celebrates um Christmas in July he was on his press tour he was on a press tour um and a lot of people saw him last night so number one if you're listening like and subscribe send this to a friend and number two if you're like why are you guys in Georgia I said this last on Friday, but I'll say it again.

57We were here for a friend's first birthday. Now we just went to the friend's first birthday. We were there for four and a half hours. Can I tell you it was so much fun. It was circus themed. Bubber had the one thing I'll say. Well, I'll say two things on the matter. Number one, we try to go to our friend's first birthdays if we can. Like, I don't know if you guys remember, I went to my friend Nuggets. Uh, we went to Tulsa and we went to her daughter's first birthday also circus themed actually correct um and so we're batting about 50 we're back i'm not making all the first birthdays that i want to i was really sad i missed my best friend sydney's because we were going to ask but like you do miss some of them but i we decided as a couple like a really fun thing to do was like if you can make your friends first birthdays let's make them and say like if you can make your friends birthdays go it's a great way to reconnect or it's yeah it's a great way to stay in touch with people that where you don't live in the same cities.

51And what was so fun about this one was when we decided to come, we were like, so we're about 45 an hour outside of Atlanta. And we were like, that would be a really fun trip to make because there's this place called, so there's Palmetto, Georgia, which is not the Palmetto bluffs. It's Palmetto, Georgia. And that's 45 minutes outside the city. And then there's this little pocket called Surinbee. And our neighbor told us about it. He said, if you're going to Palmetto, you should go to Serenby. And we were like, you know what? You only live once. We can do it. We have the weekend free. Let's go. So we came out here.

30We had no idea what to expect. And cause we're just trying to like Harrison and I as a couple, we're just down to say yes. Sometimes like we're just like, you know what? Yeah, we'll go. So we came and please describe this place. I'm very confused if it's Serenby or Serenby. So why don't you say serenbee and i'll say serenbee okay okay uh s-e-r-e-n-b-e your comments are saying serenbee say it again jules serenbee is what your tiktok comments say okay serenbee so i i think i think that that that here here's what i'll go with okay is every state in this country has pockets of magic yep and some of those pockets of magic are you know very natural and all about the um the nature of things hold on h town yeah i have the headphones on yeah you got to talk to the mic okay i've just realized now i cannot hear you all right some of those some of those pockets of magic are about nothing but the topography some of those pockets of magic are more manufactured.

43Okay. Rosemary Beach, great example. And manufactured in beautiful places. Well, I mean, Rosemary Beach, for example, 30A, watercolor. It's on the beach and it's beautiful. The sand is white and the water is blue. And then they build these really cool communities around it. Serenby is in the ladder bucket where it has a beautiful location, but they built a very cool community around it. So it's a, you know, call it three little towns within a town. And each town is a mile apart from each other. And the main mode of transportation is golf carts. So that's the number one thing I think you should lead with.

20This is a golf cart community. Golf cart community. We didn't know it. It's not marked when you're, so you drive through these like Georgia highways, but they're actually two lane streets. They're not highways at all. Sorry. You get off the highway onto these sort of back country lined with green trees. It's hilly. It's beautiful. And then you turn off. It's very discreet. And it's called Serenby. And you turn off. And once you get back here, it is, it's incredible. Like I never knew this existed. So it's beautiful. And yeah, you get here. You park your car. Cute little restaurants, cute little general store.

55And yeah. And a bunch of new build homes. And a park. Yeah. and horses horses yeah very charleston meets watercolor style houses meets new orleans almost a lot of porches a lot of hydrangeas a lot of white brick i mean a lot of wood it's just beautiful yeah beautiful new community built in uh the rainforest yeah in in a phenomenal landscape Fun restaurants. They had a jazz night last night. It's really cool. So go ahead. Dang, we're trying not to talk at the same time. I feel like we're doing a lot of talking over each other. All right, guys, let's talk about Bodzheim. Bodzheim is a tasteless powder you sprinkle right onto your food.

42It helps break down Bodmaps. Those are the hard to digest components in food that can cause bloating, gas, and pain before they cause discomfort. So this is the best thing ever, you guys, because if you're used to going out to eat, but you're like, I'm getting scared to eat because I don't know how food's going to affect me. That's where Fodzyme comes in because it mixes right into your food and it's very quick and it comes in a portable packet that you take with you everywhere. So all you have to do is sprinkle, eat, and then you can feel great. And here's what really sets Fodzyme apart. Every customer gets access to a free product consultation with a registered dietitian.

20So it's not a chat bot and it's not an FAQ page. It's an actual dietician who will walk you through how to use Fodzyme with your specific trigger foods and help you build a plan that works for your life, you guys. So here's the thing. Fodzyme isn't just another supplement touting a quick fix, a quick fix, you guys. It's created by Harvard trained scientists and it's been clinically studied. It was founded by an IBS sufferer who was tired of feeling uncomfortable after every meal. And I know so many of you guys can relate to that. So we're so excited to partner with Bodzheim and offer you 30 % off your first order when you go to Icaneatagain.com slash two parents.

01That's Icaneatagain.com slash two parents for 30 % off your first order. Finally, you guys can enjoy your favorite foods without the pain. Just go to Icaneatagain.com slash two parents. So all that to say, I just want to ask you this. since you brought up the pockets of magic in the United States, where's next on your radar of where you want to go? I haven't been to a state that doesn't have a pocket of magic, if not several. Okay. Number one. But where do you want to explore next? And the delineation I want to make before is, like I said, some are more nature-based. Like some you can just hike, and there'll be nothing around you, and you stay in a tent, and that's all you need.

40Yep. Others have built these really cool communities, and so I'm just like on opposite ends of the spectrum, but both very cool. Yeah. I would say we're in the U.S. is a top of my list for places that I haven't been that I hear incredible. I would say the Northeast in the summer is definitely top of the list. And so that whole I and I've been there for a very short period of time. but like the Martha's Vineyard, Newport, Maine, Nantucket situation. Newport, Rhode Island, Maine as a state. Yeah. That looks phenomenal. It looks beautiful. Cape Cod, all that. Yeah. Yes. Yes. And then the second is, and I feel like the amount of charm in that part of the country is best in class.

38and then I think when it comes to areas less built out where you're relying just more on the natural beauty and not on the infrastructure would be Montana. Oh, okay. And when I say Montana, I know it's a big state. Big Sky. No, Big Sky is one of them. So we just got to talk right into that mic. Okay, I'm sorry. And we turn our head. But broader, I don't know. I hear good things about Montana. So, okay, I'm with you on the Northeast. I think it would be amazing. I would also love to go to Yellowstone National Park. That to me just seems like a beautiful, different type of topography. That's big on my list.

17But anywhere, I think my point is like, just getting invited to this, I'm like, okay, yeah, we'll go. We'll make a trip out of it. We'll be there for three days. And you can always find a fun, charming. You can always, we drove through cute little towns on the way here. I don't know a lot about Georgia. I haven't been here a lot. and it's just like now we know about this cute little place. My favorite part of San Francisco was driving the one north of San Francisco. So I think a lot of people when they talk about the Highway 1, they talk about it between LA and San Francisco and not necessarily going north towards like that whole Tomales Bay area and blanking on all the other really cute towns.

01Well, that's very Twilight, right? Twilight the movie wasn't that filmed up there what Jules Seattle but also wasn't it Oregon not Oregon sorry Washington State but I'm talking California north of San Francisco so my grandpa drove you know RIP but he drove all over the United States and he told me his favorite most beautiful drive was that area I don't remember exactly where it was but it was north of san francisco and he said it was unbelievably so people love the drive from seattle to san francisco i'm sure and that goes through oregon uh-huh uh never been to oregon oh i was thinking about this it's a fun state bend i don't want to say this i don't i don't want to say we're going to do this yeah i just i so this isn't something that i'm going to go home and do okay but i did think about how it would be nice to get a map for rocky and tate and put pins in where all the cities they've been to.

04Not going to do it. One of my favorite gifts of all time that was my favorite gift in theory but not in reality was a map. And it was like a map where you scratch out a global map everywhere you've been. Love that. I love a scratch off. Did you in Canada have the scratch offs of the lottery tickets? Of course. So you guys can gamble in Canada? Yeah. And you had the scratch offs. Yeah. Talk about like, I loved doing those. Never won. Well, maybe one time I won$25. I don't really remember. Another thing that's just randomly popped in. Wait, wait, wait. Where's your number one place to visit? Yellowstone.

41Okay, Yellowstone. Is that it? Yeah. I also think there's parts of Utah that I know are beautiful. And is Yellowstone in Montana? Wyoming. Jules? Does Yellowstone reach Montana at all? I do think it does reach Montana. Oh, no. Hold on. I'm Googling. oh also one of our neighbors her name just popped up on my phone invited Bubba and I today to go get mother daughter mani pedis with her and I was like we're not in town so nice of you to offer we've never done that before and now I'm imagining me trying to get Bubba to sit still to get her nails I think Bubba sits still selectively and I think it's worth a shot I'd love to take her to try because I think she'd love it but her fascination right now with these horses horses are big horses I mean it is so cute also her ability to say horse to us and caveya to Diana is like the best thing on the planet like when we were in Aspen there was horses in the parade and she was like caveya caveya and then we walked up but she's like horse I was just like I love that little brain of yours it is beautiful I think it's the cutest this little thing on the planet.

57Um, okay. So today also at the birthday, I want to give you a compliment because, well, a couple of things. Number, number one, we were supposed to take a present that wasn't actually a present. We were supposed to take a plant to plant in the garden. So the garden can grow, right? So it's like a pay it forward, start the garden, um, gift. We forgot the gift, not that we forgot the gift. We just didn't fly here with one and we're probably going to get one and then take it. And then you know how things go with two kids. All of a sudden you're in the car, you're 20 minutes late and you don't have the gift.

30And instead of us making it a thing, we just decided in unison, like we're not taking a gift. And you took that. Thank you for just like letting that go. Cause I know you love showing up to places with something in hand and like, I just didn't have that today. So that's number one. Number two, I love getting little tidbits of your combos that you have with people as we go around all these different places and listening to you talk to people because the things that you don't talk to me about them I don't even know you know them sometimes and I hear you talk to other people about them you're and I'm always like what what are we talking about just what do you mean well I'd love to hear what well I heard you were talking to one guy about Hong Kong and someplace outside of it and how drawing on these different and I know you've obviously lived in Hong Kong but that was one thing you were talking about the other thing what specifically well I don't know I wasn't listening to your whole conversation but you were talking about something in Hong Kong I don't know banking and then you were like I did banking before and I was just thinking wow it's really cool all these different experiences you have to draw on when talking to people thank you okay he doesn't like this topic no I'm just I'm curious what you're specifically referring to I just all day I wasn't like with you a lot I was just popping in and out listening to you talk about things there was like some boat in Europe that was happening I don't know no I think that he was talking about going to Samoa yes somebody was talking about going to Samoa where even is that I believe it's off the coast of New Zealand and I talked about that how that was on my one of the top my lists for places to go when I was living in Hong Kong.

12And then there was somebody else was going to Africa next month. And you were like, what part? I've been to this part. You need to see the gorillas. And I was just like, oh my gosh. Talk about. So somebody can be like, we're going to Africa next month as a family. That's a dead end for me. I've never been. Like, I can be like, what are you guys going to do? Are you doing a safari? I want to go. But for you, it's a different conversation because you're like, where are you going? I've been there. This is what's really cool. Just trying to draw relatability. Yeah, I thought that was really neat. You guys were exhibiting the thing that we talked about the other day.

41Which is what? Oh, I know what it is. To people by asking questions versus sharing your own experiences. Ask questions. That's how you relate. There's the two ways. Okay, and I love this. And we were talking about it at dinner. And now we will segue into an update on how book club went because we had a breakthrough. But at book club, we were talking about how everyone has it in common. All the girls at the table. We were like, we love it. when we go somewhere and people ask us questions and we get to ask them questions, it's the best way to get to know somebody new. And then I said, okay, Jules taught us this, but there's the two ways that you can get to know somebody the best.

17Number one, drawing on your own experiences, but number two, asking people questions. And I think it's just the most beautiful thing. Okay. So that was, that was one thing at book club and it was something that we did a lot today with also at book club. Okay. We started talking about, I was like, Harrison's on to us. how we're not actually really discussing the book. And the guys decided, what's our new book? No, this was Jeff. It was Jeff's idea. Jeff, Emma's husband. He said, all right, each couple's going to pick a conspiracy theory. This was his proposal. Each couple's going to pick a conspiracy theory.

50They're going to research the conspiracy. And then each book, instead of a book, it will now be a conspiracy. They're going to present it. And then everyone's going to debate whether or not they think it's true. for example the the number one thing we were talking about at the table which none of us had researched so we were all just kind of like yeah i've heard of it did we land on the moon or not land mooning very very very top of mind for this discussion a lot of unanswered questions about land mooning the land mooning moon landing other other topics of discussion were um aliens yeah and what and everyone just went around and was like you know right off the cusp before we get into it do you believe in aliens or not one that i hadn't heard before that was proposed was that titanic the actual ship that sunk wasn't titanic oh i just saw the screen cut out oh yep okay hold on just keep going let me do it so i can uh because i think i can fingerprint it okay okay so we're still recording we're still rolling okay wait my mic isn't going up and down uh talking it hello yep there it is okay your mic too um yeah i didn't know about titanic that was news to me so yeah so the conspiracy theory there are you sure that we can hear me because it's not like going up very much yep okay your mic too i know i'm looking at that but you you have more pop when you talk yeah mine doesn't go up and down well i talk louder than you okay so titanic being that there was a prior ship.

24I think it was called the Odyssey. And the Odyssey was on a journey and the Odyssey got damaged and it couldn't keep running. And so... You can't... In order to collect the insurance money, they snuck the Odyssey, or similar name, and pretended that it was the Titanic and sent it out to sea to go and crash. That was the conspiracy theory that was presented at the table, which I'd never heard of. Jules have you heard of that conspiracy theory no I was going to ask if you guys have heard of the Avril Lavigne one yes that was also very top of mind for Canadians I didn't know that there was like a chance she wasn't alive her music is so good that you just wonder why has there been no new releases Skater Boy was an all time favorite simple there's one you made me so hot I think it's called hot I loved it but what's the deal with her Paul McCartney, I think that was suggested.

20That was me. And I was just saying, you know, I have heard that apparently maybe he died at one point and then they replaced him. And like ever since then it's been just like the not real Paul McCartney. Yeah. So that is, you know, you don't want to notice to give to give Jules some flowers that she hates to get. What? It's a really unique dynamic talking and not having her right there. Well, it's much more fun. Yeah. I love talking to Jules. Like it's much more fun when she's actually here versus on the phone. totally have you ever been doing your thing you guys and then all of a sudden a what-if thought comes into your mind specifically if you're a parent you know exactly what I'm talking about what if they trip and fall and hit their head or what if they fall into the pool or what if this what if that and the list goes on and on and on you guys and for millions of people that's not just anxiety that I'm talking about you guys that's OCD and most of them have no idea that it's OCD.

15It's not the organizing stereotype. Real OCD is persistent, unwanted, intrusive thoughts that feel totally out of character along with mental or physical behaviors that you feel driven to do in order to get relief. But you guys, relief never actually comes once you do these behaviors. These thoughts can feel very real, which makes them so upsetting. OCD is highly treatable with the right kind of specialized therapy. It needs ERP, exposure and response prevention therapy proven to be the most effective treatment. That's where NoCD comes in, you guys. NoCD is the world's leading provider of OCD treatment covered by insurance for over 138 million Americans.

58Licensed therapists specialize in ERP therapy and live face-to-face virtual sessions with support between sessions, so you're never facing OCD alone. If you've been struggling with OCD or unrelenting intrusive thoughts, NoCD can help. Book a free 15 minute call to get started at NoCD.com. That's N-O-C-D.com. Okay. So now we're going to do, what are the odds that we actually do this? Do what? That we do the conspiracy theory nights. It's fun because it It'll be fully led by you and the girls. Okay. Yeah, I think we'll do it. Like the guys aren't going and pulling this together, throwing it on the calendar.

42Well, have we discussed how we had a friend who has, we have discussed this, I know, how they have the traveling girls nights and they have the themed dinners and one of them was putting up a PowerPoint on the screen presenting, was that conspiracies? I can't remember what they were presenting but they've done something similar with like a PowerPoint night and I do think with these conspiracies it would be cool if each couple had to put together a PowerPoint and then we all sit down and like have to watch it and then you debate it because one thing about my book club which I love is everyone like there's a bunch of deep thinkers so when we do actually discuss the book it's very fascinating yeah I'm I'm like if this gets scheduled, I'm going into it with a 10 out of 10 attitude.

27Plain and simple. And do you have right now like what theory you would want to do? Very interested in the moon. Someone else is going to do the moon. That's the low hanging fruit. But we're going to need to allocate. But that's one that I want to go. Even if I don't present on it, I want to dive into. And the driver of that is, I'm not saying I don't think we've been. I'm just saying you think we'd be, have been back a lot more than we have been. Yeah. And so I need to understand that side of it. Well, and maybe we've been back, but they're just not talking about it. The Titanic thing definitely sparked my interest.

05And I was going to say aliens, but no, I would love somebody else to do aliens. There's something with the Denver airport underneath it. I don't know what it is, but that used to be interesting to me. 51. Well, that's not the airport, but yes. No, but kind of related between the Denver Airport. I'm very down to do Area 51. Have you ever seen people drive up to it? Drive up to the gates? No. Yeah, I've seen a couple TikToks on that. They drive up to the gates, and you can't see anything, like anything. But it is fat. It's just kind of like eerie to even be there. Maybe we'll make up a conspiracy theory and see if it gets traction.

47It could. I mean, I do think a lot of people, there was something with, I'm too far away from this, but there was something with Apple in college. And then the reason there was the bite out of the Apple, which was linked to Adam and Eve, which was linked to the Illuminati. I don't know. I can try and research it. It was very fascinating. I think that to use your example of you can't talk, we can't talk about dreams. I think we've gone too far in talking about conspiracy theories that we don't know anything about until conspiracy theory night exists All right. I will take us to things we DM'd. Okay.

24What have we DM'd this week? Well, what we were talking about there was this video that we discussed the end of it last time, but you were going to the bathroom Okay, so I'll recap it now Friday we did like a little Harrison had to pee and we were discussing Formula in the airport we've obviously had to buy diapers because when you travel with kids sometimes you pack 10 diapers for a three-hour flight and somehow you run out of diapers so you have to buy diapers at the airport and they sell diapers and I didn't even think about whether or not they sold diapers at the airport until we needed them remember and it was when Tate was like seven months old and I was like whoa we need diapers we went we bought them and it was it was an exhale moment for me knowing that they sold them.

07What I have not thought about is formula. And there was this video, the girl was on a United flight and they were delayed, delayed, delayed. And she had packed formula, but not enough for all day, just enough, more than enough for the flight, the duration of the flight time. So she runs out of formula. They're sitting on the plane and her baby's crying. So she starts asking everyone around her and then everyone around her and including the flight attendant starts helping her. And they're like, they're like, does anybody have formula? Does anybody have formula? They get off the plane. They're asking parents in the airport and a United employee comes back and says, my husband is going to the store right now and he's going to buy you formula and he's going to bring it to you.

47And that's what they did. And it sparked the conversation. Number one, incredible that everyone rallied around her to get her the formula and feed the baby. Of course, what you hope would happen happened. It was the best case. It was just people helping people that you love to see the heartwarming story. but number two it's like do that i've never seen them sell formula in the airports and i had some people say that they have vending machines in dfw i've never seen them um but i think they should sell it obviously obviously i mean we can't be the only people that would ever need it yeah so one love hearing that everyone rallied around her and and got her the formula the second thing here is i'm very concerned i'm not recording because when you talk there's a lot more bubbles than when i'm talking h you are mic number two i'm looking at mic number two but and look it's popping up but very small pardon are you sure because when alex is talking there's a lot more bubbles that are happening i know why it's always how it was okay all right As long as I'm not going crazy.

59And Jules, we trust.

03So this is very, very surprising to me. And it's something that I predict will change in the next 12 months now that we're getting more awareness towards it. The way all grocers and retail shops typically work is you have a buyer for specific categories. and so I'm just very surprised that the person buying the diapers isn't also at mass buying the formula and I'm sure it's happening in some cases but it feels like anytime you're selling diapers you should also be selling formula and I think it's a huge opportunity for the formula companies that and the airport shops that both of them will get in on if or both of them will will resolve if it's not today but i the thing that i think is interesting is like have you ever bought the diapers at the airport that section so you see the um i don't know energy drink section at the airport or the coffee yeah they're massive yeah you know the little pretzels with the hummus like there's a million flavors of that yeah this diaper section is buried in the back of hudson news and like there's two sizes diapers like there's no there's a large I feel like a large gap in the amount of babies and parents that are traveling versus the representation of like items sold.

31And I do love seeing the lactation rooms. There goes like there goes little pods. So I like seeing those but I'm just like we could buy so many more kids stuff and I think it would get purchased. Yeah, I agree as well. I agree as well. Do you know a massive thing they could sell at airports? Let's hear them. Plane toys. Fidget spinners. Like, everyone always says when you fly, do the tape on the back of the seat. Like, sell the tape. Here's the thing. I want to ask the audience. I have two questions for the audience. Okay. Number one is, what is number one list, what is number one on their list of places in the U.S.

10to visit that they've not visited? Yep. Okay, to go back earlier in the episode. Yep. The second... A little callback moment. If you will. A callback moment. The second is what is the number one thing they would like to see sold in airports that is not sold in airports? Because I do think a lot of this stuff is sold in airports. We may just not know where to find it because I think what we may forget is each city often has different retail representation in their local airports. Right? So you may formula in some but not others. and you may have toy sections for the airplanes and some but not the others.

54What's your number one thing? Not sushi because you know what? They sell it at LaGuardia. I used to get it when I got off the plane. You'd think it'd be disgusting. It was so good every time. Off the plane. I would get off the plane and I would go pick up my sushi and I would eat it in the Uber on the way home and like I loved it. It reminds me of San Francisco that when I would land, I would buy the chicken Caesar wrap and one of like a big loss of innocence moment is when you'd land, And it was called like Napa Valley Farms, the airport store. And I thought it was like this, you know, boutique store of highly curated items.

31No. And then I landed in another airport. I'm blanking where. And it was the exact same branding. And we'll just call it like it was San Diego Farms. And they'd taken all of the same products. And rather than calling it Napa Valley, called it like San Diego. that's gnarly so that's sad yeah do they have the Oklahoma farms the Austin farms yeah yeah that was it's so oh I'm thinking of Hidden Valley Farms I was gonna say I see the logo in my head but speaking of farms and this is to you and Jules can we please get an update on the um parasite on the parasite please you guys know I'm a stickler for a good night's rest but lately the rising temperatures have made it impossible to stay cool.

31Well, I saw something that said, and Jules can probably give us a better one, but it's like, if you're avoiding Taylor Farms produce, here's the six other farms you should also be boycotting. And I'm like, okay, but the good news is here today we had lamb and then like I had a salad with it. And I actually got to eat the salad because they were like, we grow everything here. And I was like, Heck yeah. I would put this as the number one subject matter that has been on your radar, but still is not on mine. Not on yours. Yeah. And I know. And then I was just about to say that. What do you have there?

06This is the notion. So that's the formula. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So it was big, big, big on my tick tock for a while. And like the videos people were making were hilarious. My favorite one was like, I've never wanted a salad more, which I just think is funny. Very good. And he was like talking about the exact salad he would build. Yep. I also saw one yesterday that was like, this is unrelated to the parasite, but she was like, I didn't know cabbage could replace noodles. And it was stitched with somebody and they were just like, you can't. Like you can't replace noodles with cabbage because the girl was making mac and cheese with chopped cabbage.

44And it was just like, man, the internet is wild. Can't be doing that. Jules, do you have an update on the parasite for us? It says still 11 ,500, which is what it was on Friday. Okay, so no cases reported over the weekend. No, but I thought they opened it up to three more states. Really? Yeah. What are the states? 41 states have reported at least one case, and nine states are highlighted. I can't tell why. Hold on.

23I wonder if the nine states are highlighted because it's I don't know it's really died down and what I haven't seen is anybody make a video reporting that they had it like I'm in the thick of it you know what I mean so are you officially are you and Jules not eating any lettuce right now I'm still not unless number one I know that the greens are cooked the produce is cooked yeah like a sauteed spinach is fine um yeah and i'm definitely not doing any chain type sweet green situations just because i don't know and jules what about yourself i'm not eating lettuce still okay so lettuce is on your out list yeah this is one of those things that like i want to go out and just be like yeah when you look at the numbers 11 ,500 you know 11 ,500 people relative to the hundreds of millions of people are eating it or eating produce every day.

21It feels like this is a needle in a haystack, but I feel like the minute that I start pushing that, I'm going to get it. Karma. So that's why I'm being silent on the matter. You don't want the karma on it. No, you do not. Now, we had a great experience at dinner tonight. We did. And I want to call out why this doesn't happen more. so we ordered an Aperol spritz and within four and a half minutes the Aperol spritzes were back at the table I would say like three minutes but yeah okay I agree thank you I do and we said well that was awesome that was quick and she said yeah here the servers and the bartenders are the same and so that way so the server is the bartender so that way we can get you all your drinks faster and if you have any questions about the wine list or a drink like we can just answer it we don't have to go play telephone in the back we're just we're the same person yeah and i'm surprised that isn't done more but where it was done oh was that all that in austin recently remember we had that she was a pod listener okay so i kind of want to say her name was courtney but i don't remember if it wasn't I'm sorry but you were lovely and remember she came back and she put down the apparel spritz and you said something like oh the color of that looks good and she was like sure does I made it I'm the bartender and we were like go queen yeah it feels like a great double whammy yeah and I get it like sometimes it can't happen obviously um did you wait did you know I went to bartending school I did I did not you didn't no but when we started dating I remember like you referenced cocktail videos you would make okay so I also made cocktail videos yes you're like I'm gonna make a cocktail video tonight I'm like oh interesting I used to do that and I loved it but what you need to know is so whenever I quit Jennifer Welch designs when I was living out in Orange County and I was like I obviously need to do something but I didn't know what I wanted to do I enrolled in real life bartending school and I went and I want to say it was three weeks every day of the week yeah and we so it was it was probably 30 minutes away from Orange County and it was inland maybe I was in Anaheim I don't remember and you would go in and it was this very it was a bar set up okay so there was a little classroom in the beginning and then when you walked back to the let's call it a set right almost like you're on set there was two bar sides and they had every type of alcohol filled, but it was obviously with like food coloring.

02So the Aperol was just like water with food dye. All day, not all day, I think it was five hours a day, maybe four hours a day, we would mix the drinks. We had a booklet of every kind of cocktail. And so sometimes we would do like a Cosmo and we would learn to like ice the cups. We would learn how quick you could make the drinks. We would learn if somebody was slightly hungover. So here's my question. At 10 a.m., you would give them a drink with bitters in it. so here's my question oh yeah and guess what i got on the test i didn't miss one a plus i crushed and i got my bar why are you not the cocktail person i've never seen you make your cocktail so i was very very very very very good at memorizing the drinks yeah and like doing good on the test because i have a photographic memory and if someone tells me their name if i'm not postpartum I can remember it and that was really fun for me right and then that would be like if I went to culinary school this is the perfect example because you always talk about how I eat the same thing every day so if I went to culinary school I would be good at understanding how to make a burger and then making the burger and presenting it but you have to take into account I don't actually care yes but you don't H you're literally not talking into the mic Jules we need Jules we need Jules yeah I'm just surprised because we as a friend group drink a very small assortment of alcohol and I feel like yeah I just would have thought like you'd own the Aperol spritzes or something no speaking about spritzes I there's one right there that I may please request you can have this there we go um I matches my shirt I think that my thing on yeah like it was really fun to learn how to make them but i'm good whether or not somebody makes me a craft cocktail with certain bitters and fresh basil versus if you just give me a glass of wine like i'm not gonna care and that's also why i say i'm a bad date in napa because remember i'm the same way i'm the exact you took me to this like beautiful vineyard and i was like i don't i just want like to have fun i don't know but you're preaching the choir on that i'm not there to taste the wine i'm there to enjoy the experience yeah and i think this i think it was really fun to go learn how to make all these different cocktails and what the one thing i took away from it was when you make a martini and everyone's gonna know this that you like slush the ice around in it to make the glass cold i was really good at like cleaning the bar doing the glasses like i was good at all that and i enjoyed it shut down one moment and i loved my teacher and yeah so that's a fun little do you know what we were actually talking about we were talking about at book club what's your fun fact that people don't know about you one of my friends was a stock model who olivia she did stock modeling interesting i know so we were like we had no idea um i couldn't think about what mine was like i I was like, I don't know.

13You went to bartending school. That could be my new one. Bartending school. How about that? All right. How do you want to wrap this, Alex? I want to discuss how Jules put in the document. Let's hear. Harvard researchers did, they were talking about the, well, I guess it's like the what? What contributes to a mother's happiness? And one of the main things is gathering with their friends. Is that accurate? Jules, is that anything else to add there? Yes. Nothing to add, but yes, gathering was the number one most healing thing for new mothers. And I thought that what stuck out to me in what I saw, and please confirm, is that gathering has more of a positive effect than sleep.

57Yes, that's what I saw. Okay. How do you want to unpack this? Well, I think it's really fascinating because I've really been drawn to, as I allude to a lot on here, my mom friends and my mom group texts. And it's funny if we look at my postpartum journey with Tate versus with Rocky and with Rocky, while it's more chaotic to have two kids, I also feel so much more supported. And a large part of that is probably having my support system and whether they're moms or not, actually, it's just in general, my friends that I've been gathering with, so to speak. And I always say, you know, you know, you have a best friend who you can sit in silence with and just eat a sandwich.

40Like that to me is true bonding. And I now have a lot of friends like that in Austin who I look forward to seeing. They like light me on fire and gathering with them is really meaningful. And so I think it, it speaks to my postpartum journey. The differences in the two. Yeah. I mean it, that lands as hard as a study can. Like when I look at the amazing woman and friend group that you've surrounded yourself with that are such a big part of your life today that you hadn't met, you know, two plus years ago. And you look at the difference in those journeys, like in the postpartum journeys, it makes so much sense that one is going so much better than the other.

24Because like your friends now, I think what is so amazing about your relationship with them is all the different subject matter that you can speak to them on and how they can be there for you as moms they can be there for you as a friend they can be there for you as you know other entrepreneurs as community members content creators like creators on the philanthropic side and religion books yeah like brain share we talk about all of it you have such a great friend group and i love them and they're very dynamic but i do think that i guess if you're the listener my larger point is it took me, it was like a vulnerable place to prioritize it.

07And just because you tend to, or at least I do sometimes as a mom, like I almost tend to staying home is always easier and it's more comfortable. But what I started doing is just like, let's get out there and see. And I think all the moms were feeling the same way. And together on a Saturday morning, we'll all get together for coffee and breakfast tacos. And we'll just like take the kids and we'll get them there. And I always leave feeling energized and less alone, like no matter what's going on, it feels so good. So I think my point is if you're in a spot where you haven't found that community yet, putting yourself out there and doing it pays dividends.

48Totally. And it feels really, really good. And one of my friends messaged me and she's pregnant. And she was like, I just, I finally reached out to a girl on Instagram who's due around the same time as me. And like we started hanging out and I just feel so much better. And I'm like, yes, that's what you have to do. And you just, it's this very cozy, warm feeling. And the best way I can describe it is energized. Like it puts wind in your sails. Cause you're like, we're all going through the same thing. That makes so much sense. Yeah. And I love our group texts too, because we'll just text and be like, Oh my gosh, I'm on this flight.

20And like, it's tough. And then everyone starts sharing their stories and it's, yeah, it's a real, it's a really sweet thing to do so i'm not surprised that the study showed that gathering is more healing than sleep for moms although sleep is amazing yes it's a close second okay well that feels like a great place to wrap it all right so just so everyone understands this is sunday night tomorrow monday we're flying back to austin we're back there um we'll we'll be chatting with you wednesday and friday this week back home in the studio. Thank you for listening. All right. We love you guys. Thank you for listening.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're coming to you from GEORGIA!!! We recorded Sunday night from Serenbe (a neighborhood focused on wellbeing 45 minutes outside Atlanta - If you live a direct flight from ATL and are looking for a family trip… we highly recommend!!). We flew in for a friend's kid's first birthday and turned it into a whole family weekend, which leads to a bigger conversation: every state has "pockets of magic" like this, and we share the ones at the top of our list to check out next (the Northeast in the summer!! Montana!! Yellowstone!!).

Then we get into the idea from book club this week that we're SO excited about: conspiracy theory nights!! The concept: each couple researches a conspiracy, presents it (PowerPoint encouraged), and everyone debates whether it's true. Already on the table: the moon landing, aliens, and the Titanic insurance theory we'd never heard before… (pls put your recs in the comments).

Plus, THINGS WE DMED on the viral video of an entire flight rallying to find formula for a mom stuck in delays 🥹 (& the very real question: why don't airports sell baby formula?!), a cyclosporiasis update (are we still swearing off produce?), why more servers aren't ALSO the bartender, and a fun fact reveal: Alex went to BARTENDING SCHOOL?! (A+ on the test, never made a cocktail since lol).

We wrap with the Harvard study we can't stop thinking about: gathering is MORE healing than sleep for new moms. Alex gets into how this maps onto her two postpartum journeys, and why putting yourself out there to find your people pays dividends 🥹

LOVE YOU GUYS!
