In short

New Year “vibes” and planning for baby #2 (nursery/house projects, mindset for April), plus a Montana recap and “baby-moon” plans; parenting routines and travel hacks; plus light Q&A on airlines/ChatGPT stats and a few “things we learned” items.

Guests

No guests. Two hosts only: Harrison and Jules (Two Parents in a Podcast).

Guest backgrounds

Not applicable (hosts are the speakers). They’re parents of a young child (“Bubs”) and expecting baby #2 (“Jellybean”), currently recording in Vancouver.

Key claims

  • Pregnancy is improving (less vomiting; more energy) and they’re entering “grind mode” for the next ~3.5 months.
  • Stabilize life before baby #2 to handle “joy met with chaos.”
  • For travel, headphones + kid music prevented screen time on flights.
  • Screen time can be controlled rather than all-or-nothing (advice from another family at Montana).

Notable examples

  • Montana: Paws Up ranch in snow; dog sledding, fishing (Harrison caught a fish on his last cast), skeet shooting; Santa visited cabins; four flights total.
  • Baby-moon: 2–3 days in February, likely “hot,” gym/walks/good meals; Jules wants to knit (learned in 5th grade).
  • Parenting: a viral “dad cries back” TikTok; “surprise birthday gifts” videos; “Friday rituals” reduce teen anxiety (cited study).

0:44Okay, let's start. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. If you're watching on YouTube wondering what our background is, Harrison wanted something wintry, but yet New Year's-y. Reflective of the current state. Oh, I just did something so savage to Harrison. So he took this great, we're in Vancouver, and he took this really beautiful photo, and he put it in the group chat with our neighbors because our neighbors are coming up here for New Year's with us, and they've never been to Vancouver or Whistler, and the mountains here are snow-capped, and so we went to breakfast, and we were walking, and he took a photo, put it in the group chat.

1:25I took it out of the group chat, put it on my Insta story. I didn't think Harrison would see it before we started recording. And then he was like, what? Well, I was going to put it up. A rare story moment for me. Now it's going to look like you copied me. Although I can't take that good of a photo. You're just a better photographer. That's not true. No, no, no. That is true. I need you to accept that. I'm a worse photographer. So I used the 8X zoom on the iPhone camera for that one. Shot it in like two seconds. And that's what made it look so cool. because like from where we were, you couldn't like appreciate, like the photo didn't, didn't capture how cool the snow cat mountains looked.

2:05I saw Jay do that once on a, on his iPhone. The new iPhone zoom is insane. We do have the new ones, which I just like help in today's day and age. I, I, I don't know why anyone would ever buy a camera. Stop. I bought, okay. So guys, I got the Canon G7 X because the reason I got it, I love it in theory. So did I. And Chad GBT told me it would be better than the iPhone in certain scenarios, especially when photographing people. We have one child and we have one on the way. I'm like, well, if I don't start documenting, like I don't want every photo to be on my phone. I loved it in theory. I want some of the old school, not old school, but I want some old school feels with my camera.

2:49And man, I tell you what, this iPhone is just outperforming it left, right and center. Yeah, this, this, this Canon just doesn't seem to work. Well, I don't think I know how to focus it. Whatever. I took it on our trip and like the one photo I posted of us was saying it's like blurry. It's blurry. Yeah. They're all blurry. I'm stunned at its lackluster performance. Nothing. All the camera. Not that. I watched all these videos on the BG or the food. Sorry. The Fuji versus the Canon. And I laid it on the Canon. And then like I got the refurbished. Any advice would be appreciated on how to make it better than the iPhone.

3:25I'm sure there's like a setting. Happy almost New Year's, everybody. Yes. What's your vibe? What's your New Year's vibe? What does that mean? What is, why do you keep that? He doesn't, Harrison is so, is it literal? Are you literal? Yeah, I'm pretty literal. What's my New Year's vibe? Like not, I don't know. Hopefully very positive. I do not want to know your resolution. Okay. Okay, because I think people make those and then we forget about them by February. Okay. So where's your head at going into the new year? Okay. I understand the question now. Okay. Where's your head at going into the new year?

4:04So typically I find when you travel back home, right? So like if you're away for the new year and then you go home, you're a bit like, it's like a letdown, so to speak. What do you mean? Well, you're coming off the vacation. you're coming off the vacation you're coming off the holiday high yeah so you know you had thanksgiving and then you had christmas you went somewhere you saw family and then for new years we went somewhere else but maybe you say like whatever and then you go back home and then work starts again yeah so like traditionally speaking people have time off right now okay um i'm excited to get back because i we have four months three and a half months until this baby comes and i have some things, I don't want to say what they are, but professionally that I want to achieve in those three and a half months.

4:56And like, I'm really excited to get working on them. Okay. So what, where's your, so, so my head is, um, I'm feeling better. I'm throwing up none. Knock on wood. You got a pop in your staff. I mean, last week I had brutal food, whatever that was, but that wasn't pregnancy related. Um, and so like, I'm getting up and like, I'm craving my one mile walk on the treadmill. Like I'm feeling better. Yeah. No, you're crushing it. And like with bubs guys, I didn't have a day where I felt good. I threw up every day. And then like when I had her, I threw up every contraction. So like that one wasn't very fun for me, but like with my little boy here, he's kicking me a lot.

5:30Like I'm starting to feel better. So I want to use these last three and a half months and like make the most of them. We have to rearrange the whole entire upstairs. We have to do his nursery. I have to move bubs into her room and redo the playroom. So I want to get working on that. And then I want to get working on my little project, which I'll fill everybody in on later. Amazing. The project lives in my head right now. Amazing. So I'm going into grind mode. Yeah. And, and I see that, like, I see, I see you have the energy. I see how different life is today for you than it was two months ago.

6:04Um, so to use the word again, I see, I see the pop in your step. And I think what's notable about it is like a day in bed for me is miserable. Like when I don't feel good, if I wake up and I I don't feel good. Like, I hate that. I don't want to lay in bed and watch a movie. Yeah. That is like not my idea of fun. Yeah. So this is a lot better for me. And pregnancy goes by faster when I'm doing things. Yeah. Okay. Where's your head at, darling? Yeah. No, my vibe is on a similar wavelength. Oh, my gosh. And that is like I want to make sure that we have all facets of our life dialed so that way we are as best prepared as we can before baby number two.

6:52And, you know, I think the expectation is like when he comes, our world will get turned upside down again. And so I just want to make sure that all facets of it are in as good of a place as they can be. And that's everything from like community, physical health, work, like get things humming on all fronts. And that way when our world gets, as just said again, gets turned upside down, like we've got a good base to handle. And yeah. Yeah, because I – listen, I think what's coming in April is pure joy met with chaos. and one thing about Harrison and I we love chaos and we thrive just fine in it but like you don't know maybe this baby doesn't sleep maybe he's colicky maybe I have a hard time feeding like there's so many unknowns and we welcome those right because they're temporary and we like that's just fine with us like we I think we're very much so like come what may but I like what you're saying of like stabilize and then see what happens exactly but I'm excited I just what I the thing that I kept doing was being like after the new year we're gonna we're gonna deal with that nursery after the new year we're gonna fix the house after the new year and now it's like we're we're like five days away from being home yeah and it's like you had to start come out of your mouth three and a half months away like wow that is just a lot closer than than I'd realized we decided we're gonna do a baby moon yeah so did we do a baby moon with Bob's every trip we took like we went to London for my birthday which was really fun Harrison took us there and it was like a surprise for me.

8:34That was a blast, but that wasn't, we didn't do a baby. It was like a hybrid ish baby moon. Cause you don't really need a baby moon with the first in my opinion. It wasn't like a dedicated baby moon. Like we're planning now. Yeah. Like, well, I love people to do baby moons with the first. Don't get me wrong. But like we took a lot of vacations while I was pregnant with Bubber. We were trying to figure out where to live as well. That's true. We took a lot of vacations, I guess. Um, but with this one, I just looked at Harrison the other day and I was like, let's go on a baby moon. And he was like, yeah, you get to pick.

9:05Like you carry the baby. You tell me where we're going. Are we going hot? Are we going cold? I think we're going hot. I'm not sure yet. I like your initial suggestion. I think that it's a place I can't believe I haven't been. It seems like it'll be perfect for. It's not a lot of places you haven't been. You're looking for. And yeah, wherever you choose, we'll have a great time. Do you know what I'm looking to do on this baby moon? Yes, let's hear. Nothing. I'm looking to get up. go to the gym there or climate willing. I want to go on a walk. I love, I'm like obsessed with walking right now. Then I want to have a good breakfast.

9:38I want to perhaps. So Harrison got me a pretty killer stocking stuffer, which was learn to knit. Yep. Did you know I knitted in fifth grade? Okay. My teacher, I'm blanking on her name. Oh my gosh. I can see her face, but she loved to knit. And so I knew how to knit in the fifth grade. I completely forgot, but I loved it. And so I'm excited to learn to knit again. Maybe I'll do that there. Read a book, eat. Like I just want to have really good meals, fun dinners, and go to bed. And everything you just described can be accomplished in a lot of places. But I think the place that you initially suggested is perfect.

10:17Okay. Whatever you want to do. I'll decide. What do you think about – sorry, I cut you off. No, no. I'm just saying I'm excited about it because we're not going to take bubs. we're gonna go for two three days um just hang out the two of us probably february and then come back and i'll be in my no travel zone there we go each new year seems to come with the message that who we aren't isn't enough that we're supposed to begin again as someone new but what if i told you you didn't have to rewrite yourself to grow what if real change was already happening, quiet naturally from within. So we're recording at a studio in Vancouver and we're sitting across from each other.

12:15We've recorded here, by the way, before people. What do you think about sitting across from each other like this? So I'm loving it. I feel like I'm talking to, I mean, I'm not going to say I feel like I'm talking to you, but I feel more like I'm talking to you. Yes. Do you like it? Do we need to change our studio at home? Another new project? Do we need to do a nursery? I like the angle, but the table does feel kind of business meeting-ish. Like it feels like more interviewee versus conversationally. What interview question could I ask? So maybe we go in the studio back home. We do the same angle, but we don't have the table.

12:49We have like more of a coffee table in the middle. Okay. Let me ask you this. Okay. What's your biggest weakness? Those are the asking interviews. My biggest, oh my goodness. What's your biggest weakness? Where a lot of times at this moment, people actually say a pro. I love my soon to be wife too much. Oh, wow. Yeah. Or people say I'm too organized. It's just a giant flaw of mine. I have too much love for you. I'm too honest. Yeah. Too in love. this guy commented on Harrison's Instagram. He posted of us like on our trip. And the guy was like, who takes their pregnant wife? I can't believe you dragged her.

13:22I can't believe you drug her. To the mountain. On this trip, I responded back. I was like, I was so miserable in the winter wonderland that I wanted to go to. It's probably a good for you to touch on our past week. The special week it was. So we went to Paws Up, which is a ranch in Montana. and we got snowed on twice, which is, that was all I wanted. I wanted to see snow. And we just, you guys, we had the most cozy, magical, fun, like the three of us. It was super special. It was special. That's a good word. Overlaid with a ton of very fun activities. Yeah. Dog sledding takes the cake for me. I've never done that.

14:06Dog sledding was a blast. Fishing was a blast. Harrison caught a fish on his last cast. Yeah. Yeah. We actually called. It was like, this is the last one. Boom. Caught a fish. Got a nibble. Got a nibble. Skit shooting. Yep. It was all fun. Yeah, it was great. So we really had. So we had expectations and it exceeded our expectations. Santa came and visited all the cabins. It was a lot of fun. Very fortunate to have gone. Yeah, it was really, really. It's the same. It was very fun. Now we traveled, though, to get there. So we just did four flights. We said we recently were like, we're never going to fly with Bubz again.

14:40because like it's getting harder and then here we are so it took two flights to get to montana and then we took two flights to get here we had a break we had a breakthrough yeah let's hear the breakthrough i got headphones for the trip in case like i was like what if shit hits the fan and we gotta do like put on a movie for bubs that's just what i was thinking i was like if all else fails. And then we were taking off on the first fight and I was like, hold on. This kid loves music. Let's put her song, Hola, hola, hola, como esta? She's got, Maria has like four or five songs that Bubz and Winnie, they have dance time to.

15:23So we put on this music and Bubz's face could not believe that the music was in her ears. Like she was like, because they always listen to the music out. loud. So that was our breakthrough of like, we got like 30 minutes on each flight. Yeah. And now she's starting to bring us the headphones. Yeah. It was a great, great travel hack as we are staying away from screen time for now. And it's worked very well. So Harrison wants to see how long it lasts. Harrison wants to start meeting people on trips. We're going to talk about that in a second. But one of the families that was there, because there's this dining hall at the ranch and it's like, it's beautiful.

16:03And we were sitting at a table beside us was a table of two kids. And these kids were, how old do you think? Eight and five? I would have said five and seven. Okay. So they're close to that age. They sat through the dinner the entire time. They talked to their parents and the parents weren't on their phones and the kids didn't have screens. So we said to them one night, I was like, Hey, did you ever do screens? Like what's the hack? because our goal here is to eventually have family dinners just like you're having. And she said, she laughed and she said, okay, so we did do screens. And we did them at her age, pointed at Tate, and she said all the way up until they were three.

16:41When they were three, we pulled the screens and we said, we're going to learn to sit through dinner. And I thought that was really fascinating. And she said, and now what we do is we have controlled screen time. So they get it when they travel and that's it. And I was like, wow. But she was like, but when they're, you know, a year and a half to three years old, mom and dad need a second. And she was like, so we did do screens then. And I was like, OK, because one thing Harrison and I always talk about is like we're curious, like we're always asking people. We're always like, OK, what do you do and why do you do it?

17:12Especially people like she was somebody I wanted advice from because I was like, you have the end result that we're going for. Yeah. And I feel like in parenting, it's always one of those things like in theory, you have these game plans. but then in reality things shake out so differently and I feel like screen time is like is a is a phenomenal example of that where you know most parents coming into it will say like we want to avoid it at all costs and no screen time for our kids but then like when the rubber meets the road like that's just not the reality of how how it all shakes out and so like when you do see kids like this you know five and seven year old sitting there so well behaved it's like okay good to know like it, it is possible.

17:53And, um, I did think like one of the unique dynamics that was going on at that table that you just touched on was like, was the parents not being on their phones and the parents engaging the kids. No, there was not one phone. I never saw one. I never saw that family with a phone the entire time. And we saw them a lot. Yeah. So here's the thing. Like we know, I just posted this on my story. Like we know screens are going to be a part of Bub's life. For sure. They're coming. We're just trying to figure out how we want to approach it. Yeah, and where they'll live and where they won't live. And like I have a lot of friends who I see when we're out at dinner, like they'll give their kid their phone for a second.

18:31And like I totally understand that. Like I was giving up on the idea that of no screens at restaurants because you just so rarely see it. You rarely see them not on it. You so rarely see like the five and the seven-year-old at a table without skids. Yeah. And that's cool. And maybe that won't be our journey. But like I think we're sitting here saying we would like it to be. But we haven't even had the second kid. So we'll see how it goes. But right now, Bubz isn't. Five years to go. Bubz isn't a music. A big music kick. For the moment. For the moment. And she's by-lawing, which means dancing, to her playlist.

19:10Yeah. I had a good idea. Let's see. Oh, bleep the name. The neighbor girl had a good idea. we make a Winnie and a Tate playlist on Spotify of all the music that they listen to. And I got just a tip here. They were$19.99 from Target. I got the Hay Day Bluetooth headphones. And they work perfectly. On the airplane, you can hear them. They're great. So I've been wearing them some too. You guys, the holidays are over, but the new year is beginning, and there is still time to get Aura Frames. Remember, that's AuraFrames.com. um why do you want to meet people when we travel what's going on there i i just felt like um in in every vacation we've been on like i don't think we've ever like walked away from the vacation with like the contact information from someone else that we're staying in touch with would you would you agree i would i mean i i can say with certainty we have not yeah and and i like when we were um like when we were on the final day i was talking to a guy at the bar and he was just like such a genuinely interesting gentleman that I just thought to myself, I'm surprised we don't do more of that, especially like you're such an outgoing, open and warm person.

21:25I feel like one, I'm surprised that we don't have those interactions. And two, I think we'd really like it because like we're so intentional about where we go and i feel like often the types of people that would be there we'd have a lot of a lot in common with i'm out going but i'm guarded like i am too i'm not really looking i liked i liked there's a breakfast place a lunch place and a dinner place and there's only one i liked seeing everybody you know there was the family from houston there like i liked that vibe getting to know him a little bit the grandparents were there they let they let their kids dye their hair colors like that was kind of my vibe small bits of conversation so you don't want to like actually maybe there's a top maybe like i think it just unlocked i think that that because we had dinner every night at five o 'clock and we're back in the room by seven.

22:30And I feel like that moment to like interact would have been at the bar and we weren't ever going to the bar because we were back in the room with Pops. Yeah. But I do like, I don't want to have coffee with somebody on vacation. No, but I think like what I would have liked to have done is like had conversations with those people at the bar. So if I'm in Miami and like I'm sitting down, yeah, at the bar at night, like I'd love to talk to the person beside me. But Miami is too transient versus what I liked about this place is like it was off the grid. And And so you were seeing the same people. Okay.

23:00Agreed. Agreed. No, no, no. I'm not, I'm not against what you're saying. I was in an antisocial mood. I was in a, hi, how are you? I loved talking to the kids and the parents and getting where they were from. And then I was good, which reminds me of my second piece here. So we drove to the shooting range and it was truly a breathtaking view. And Harrison was like, have you ever been to Pemberton? Like, no, I haven't been to Pemberton. which is 45 minutes north of Whistler because before I had met you, I had never been to Whistler. So Harrison was like, I got to take you to Pemberton. I was like, done, take me.

23:37So we're probably going to do a day trip while we're here. We're going to go up there for lunch. And what I realized, because I was like, wow, I could do like a cabin in Pemberton or Montana or somewhere like remote. And what it made me realize is I'm really content. I have found myself changing the older I get and being with you. Like I just like talking to you and hanging out with you. And like, I love our friends, but I used to be very, I want to be in the most, the busiest place. Like I could never have a cabin remote. Yeah. Cause I would always, I would want to be social. I'd want to be X, Y, Z.

24:17But now I find myself being like, no, I'm good. If it's just us in a cabin or I could do a remote cabin, I might actually really enjoy that you're preaching the choir you're truly preaching but i didn't used to be this way did you i used to be like no i need to have a house in new york in chaos out east etc like playing the game i don't know if it's age i don't know if it's parenting i don't know if it's you i don't know combination of all of it it's everything i think that but like my faith i love just going back to the cabin and hanging out with you and like i love being around friends i want to go i'm craving once this baby comes out i want to do a couple's trip with a bunch of friends And like, that is my vibe.

24:54But like, I do just, I'm like, oh, found myself. When you said you wanted to meet people, I was like, I always want to meet people. But I've just found myself being like, yeah, like, I think two things can be true. I think that that I felt like there was a, you know, I wish we I wish I dug a layer deeper with one or two people over the past week. and I also can be at a remote cabin like behind us where just you, me, Bubz, and the family. And Jellybean. And beyond. And beyond. So where to from here? Well, before we get into your chat, GBT wrapped, which there's no better thing to do on the 31st than you because Harrison's in the top 15 % of people that use chat GBT, which he says isn't high.

25:42I think it's high. I thought it would have been a lot higher. I'm shocked. Wait, you thought he'd be higher? Yeah, do you want to know what mine is? Jules. Jules, lift her up to the mic. What is yours? Now I have to recheck, but I think mine said top 3%. There's no way. No, it would make sense because I use a bunch of different models. Oh. Because often I'm saying chat GPT, but I'm using Gemini. Okay. Because chat's kind of a verb now. Yeah. Yeah. Mine, yeah, top 3 % messages sent. Jules. Jules, you little chatter bug. That's really good. First 20 % of users. I feel like Harris is probably like first 1 % of users.

26:30Oh, how do you see? Hold on. Okay, let me look. Do people know that ChatGPT does a rap? Yeah, I've seen it a lot. I feel like it just became a thing online this week. Yeah, but I see people really like doing it. Oh, sorry. What were you in terms of users, Jules? 20%. Top 3 % messages sent. Yeah. And first 20 % of users. Okay. What do you think my first percent of users was? One, Jules. I said like one or two. First 0.1 % of users. That's really good. That's an early adopter. I'm really proud of that. Now, interestingly enough, my chattiest day was February 19th. Were we sleep training? Oh, that had to have been it.

27:17Had to be. Ask it. Say, what was I doing February 19th? That had to have been it. That's really funny. That's really funny. Can you, will it tell you what you were doing? Remember the night, you guys, that Harrison stayed up and talked to Chad and it was very empathetic and it was like, wow, you must be really tired and it must be really hard, but keep going. Oh, no. Interesting. What? Different. What were you doing? On February 19th, I was asking a series of questions about optimizing baby formula ingredients. How to improve a standard baby formula, which ingredients you should swap out, especially seed oils and what you replace them with.

Read the full transcript

27:50Whether removing seed oils would still meet baby's essential fatty acid needs, where LA and LA would come from if seed oils were removed, and if it's possible to get those EFAs without seed oils at all. Wow. How about that? Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. Look how far you've come on here. A little formula deep dive. But that would also make sense because that was during the time of transitioning from best work to formula. Yes. Thanks for the podcast. Yes, I was for the podcast. We have come really far on our formula knowledge. Yeah. How about that? We have. And I love next week we're going to talk about in the Q &A session things we would do differently with our second baby than our first.

28:33I think it's a really good question because we've been thinking a lot about it. Yep. Okay, so we were landing last night. And I just have to tell you guys, I want you to experience what I experienced, which is we drove by on the plane. Like we taxied by all these different airlines. And Harrison gave me, he said, have you been on that one? I said, no, I haven't been on any of them. And he gave me a synopsis of them all. And the first one was China Air, no? First one was China Airlines, yeah. Okay, and what's the deal with China Airlines? Well, that's China's national airline. And? Good airline.

29:03Good airline. On a scale of one to ten? I think that there is some exceptional airlines out in Asia that we would fly, like Singapore Air. And I would say Singapore is the step above for sure. Eva Air, step above. Eva Air was the next one. That's Taiwan's national airline. I like that a lot more than China Airlines. And what was the next one? So Cathay wasn't there, but Cathay was my go-to airline. That's like where I, oh, I actually, you know how I didn't do my points, my airline points? Right. You know what the actual story behind that was? What? Is I was a dedicated Cathay flyer, okay? And I played the Cathay game.

29:52Cathay is an unbelievable airline. Okay. And then during COVID, my airlines expired and I lost all my points because I went inactive. And I was like, I'm not playing this airline game again. So I didn't play it for the following two, three years. And then you've gotten back on American. So I did actually play the airline game for a bit and I got screwed in it. Spell Cathay. C-A-T-H-A-Y, Cathay. Okay. That's like how I thought it would be spelled. So I thought that wasn't it. Okay. Emirates is another tier one. But then the unique thing about Asia, I don't know if this is interesting, Jules, but Asia's got the set of like super budget airlines.

30:35Okay. Where you can fly super, super cheap, but also like questionable safety standards. Okay. Yeah. That's not great. No. But if you're just like looking to get from point A to B, like Lion Air is one of them. Odds are in your favor, probably. Asia Air is one of them. Okay. And what a friend of mine's father told me is like the way it kind of works is like the best pilots like go to Cathay and go to like this tier one and then it just goes down and down and down. So you're getting like when you do fly the budget airlines, you aren't getting like as good as high ranked pilots. Oh, that's not good.

31:13And then there's also like a priority with departure slots. And so those budget airlines are the ones that get delayed. So like Cathay out of Hong Kong was never delayed. They do that? Yeah. So budget airlines sometimes don't get slotted departure slots. Well, they're who will get bumped. Well, that's not fair. Why? Well, that's... You're just relaying. To my understanding how the game works out there. Well, I'm curious if that happens in the United States because I fly Frontier home to Cleveland and I've never not been delayed. you're always delayed it would it would make sense wait lift jules up to the mic yeah it says yes budget airlines absolutely get bumped in the u.s and sometimes is this a scam no it's not a scam it's not a scam but like i've never not been delayed on this flight path austin to cleveland so jules is saying she's googling it and they're saying Frontier and Spirit definitely do get bumped and delayed in the takeoff slots.

So what other knowledge do you have for us on airlines?

33:50I don't know. I think I can speak to a lot of European airlines and airlines in Asia. But we've covered through any other questions. What's quarter? Qatar. Qatar. Yeah. Very nice airline. Okay. Yeah. Middle Eastern airline. What else you got? We talked about Emirates, another very nice one um there's a lot of national airlines that like are i actually don't want to go down that path have you been on the double decker planes before with like the bars yeah you have and who does those uh oh my goodness i think emirates does i think guitar does i feel like i've been on a British Airways that does it.

34:41Okay. Yeah. That's cool. But I haven't been on one of those in a long time. Of all the airlines, American Airlines, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. What's the most, like if you're a pilot and you fly for X, like what is the creme de la creme? So my understanding is at least amongst the airlines in Asia, it was Cathay. Okay, so Cathay. Cathay was like the premier one to work for. But I assume like Singapore Air, very similar, and Emerton and Qatar as well. But who, those are all cooler than American Airlines? Like, not American, but Airlines of America? What do you mean? Like, is Cathay cooler than United American?

35:20They're like, I would say, a step up of service. Okay. Versus like, Korea Airlines more similar to the airlines in the U.S. Okay, I'm very juicy to know. Yeah, China Airlines more similar to the airlines in the U.S. and I just saw what did I just see people are doing dog airlines I have not seen this bark air it's a big moment for Jenny Jules Jenny gets to go on on frontier she's living Jenny gets to go with Jules is Jenny a service animal no she's just less than 20 pounds oh so dogs that are less than 20 pounds can fly on all airlines yeah she just goes in a bag 200 bucks 200 to take your dog expensive yeah fixed fee yep all airlines it's the same that's sometimes a southwest ticket's like 180 yeah like i mean i flew through both thanksgiving and christmas on points and just paid for jimmy that's it huh it's kind of highway robbery but okay it kind of is because she's your carry-on item too.

36:34You don't get a carry-on item. You don't get a carry-on item and it's$200 to fly with your dog? Yeah. Is it$200 both ways? Is it$200 on every airline? Yeah. Yes, the carry-on thing is airline dependent, but yes, it's like$195 on every airline. $195 to$200. Per way? Per leg? No, round trip. $200 round trip. I mean, at least there's that. but still. Yeah. Okay. That's kind of crazy. All right. I'm going to move us on but that was fascinating. I'm going to move us on to your chat. For all your future airline questions. Did we do your chat GBT wrapped? We didn't do your wrapped part. Well, we kind of did it.

37:15No, we did your percent. I think we got the meat and bones of it. Give us your wrapped. Give us your three. Do you know that my chat GBT I never really logged into so I don't have one? Okay. My three big themes of 2025 were building brands with focus. Okay. And it talks about us doubling down on flock, tightening execution, optimizing margins, and retail success at a variety of retailers. Love it. That's interesting. My theme, too, is family front and center, embracing life as a new dad and partner. And then the third theme is expanding the media universe. and so evolving from podcast experimentation to strategy growing two parents in a pod it's like pretty like spot on those are kind of your three thought pillars yeah and then um nothing else of note from uh the chat stats but i did think it it gave me a really cool like image my year painted in pixels and it's like a bag of flock a bottle a tin of avocado oil podcast mic and a costco card i want to see it oh my god yeah that is impressive yeah what does it say below with the caption it said um still life with chicken skins and baby bottle chat chb t 2025 a flock bag leans against a pixelated baby bottle surrounded by podcast mic avocado oil 10 and a Costco price tag, commerce meets care.

38:50Is that my brand? Commerce meets care. So chat GPT is so smart because everyone posts their Spotify wrapped. And now people are posting their chat wrapped. How has somebody else not done this? Well, I think a lot of people are. And I did see one thing, Jules, please confirm, that the Spotify wrapped was started by an intern. No way. Yeah. And so they just had their idea ripped by everyone. an intern started spotify wrapped yeah that's what i saw on twitter but it was such a good idea it's like the most it's like people always post it it's like the most instagram thing yeah yeah it's and then people make tiktoks about it they're like nobody cares about your spotify wrapped i can then a lot of people are saying no i care i want to see them i'm reading them all i was looking at them my most noteworthy thing on my spotify wrapped was my age um which was what like my listening age was like 21 years old and i was 23 um good for us what what young parents we are okay i've got a question what was your um and you you and might have to google this but of the year what was your social media moment that you love to like watch like what was the like what the internet moment of 2025 that's what i'm trying to ask thank you oh my goodness you please you go first i i need to think i'm just trying to think of some i mean i remember i remember the katie perry space okay that wasn't anything to me but it was it was something there was the louvre heist the louvre heist was was a massive moment and i think perhaps the biggest was the cold play kiss cam because there's a bill there's a marketing company howdy howdy in austin and i know this off of a billboard yeah but they use the cold play kiss cam moment as their marketing campaign.

40:42Yeah. Okay. I would agree. I'm, I'm very obsessed with Glenn Powell and Michelle Randolph dating, but it's not an internet moment. It's very niche in my land man world. Yeah. It didn't hit your radar even. Um, I wanted to, what my show of the year is going to go to, um, all her fault. Okay. I will, I will support that decision and I will secondarily nominate was All Her Fault on Amazon Prime? I don't know what it was on. It was the Netflix one and the Amazon Prime one that we both watched. Yes. What one did you... What one was All Her Fault? All Her Fault was the one where the kid got taken. Oh, that was the best one for sure.

41:27It's the best one. You said it's the best show you've seen in a very long time. For sure. And then the best movie... That's must watch. The best movie and it's not close and forgive me if this was 2024. F1. Not close. like best we've seen in 10 years. Yeah, those are two prioritize. And to be clear, I did do a brand deal for F1 oil change, not related to the movie. And so I'm not paid to say I like this movie. I freaking love that movie. No, wasn't that brand deal for F1? It was a take five oil change with F1. It was related to the movie. Well, it was related to the movie. I'm just saying I'm not putting it on my top list because of a brand deal.

41:59I'm putting it on the top list because it was the best movie. We paid for the tickets. All right, let's move on to things we DM. Guys, let's talk about skims because there is nothing better than Skims. And what I have with me are their cashmere sweatpants that fold over right at the stomach. They are so cute. I have so I'm wearing the Skims bra right now. I'm wearing their tank top. Everything that that girl makes is truly unreal.

43:09Okay. Friday rituals cut teen anxiety by 40%. A university of Michigan study found that families with consistent Friday traditions, for example, dinner, walk, movie night saw significantly fewer anxiety and depression symptoms in teens. This does not surprise me because it also would reduce my anxiety as an adult. Yeah. Um, love seeing studies like this is these are things that that we obviously are prioritizing in in the early days both for our relationship and and our family and and it's not surprising it gives people purpose it gives them comfort it gives them stability and so I love when we get positive data that reinforces things that, that we, um, that we already value.

44:02Well, and it says predictable family rhythms help regulate the nervous system. When teens know Friday means together, their baseline stress drops. But me knowing Friday means together, my baseline stress drops. Yep. I also think the older they get, the more like Friday nights will become, there'll be football games when they're in high school. And like, I get that, right? Everyone's I don't want to go to the football game. But I think if we can pick a night, maybe it's Thursday night. Maybe it's Wednesday night. Do you think your son's going to play football? I haven't even thought about that.

44:36I don't know. Do you think you will? I have not thought about it. Growing up in Canada, football is not something that we think a lot about. You think about hockey. We think a lot about hockey. Do you think he'll play hockey? Do you want him to play hockey? I mean, that's just. Do you care what he does? No. Me either. I care that he has hobbies and that he challenges himself and that he puts himself out there. And I think there's a ton of value around playing team sports that he'll benefit from. I think hockey is a bad idea in Austin because you just don't have that infrastructure there. And I think there's a lot.

45:25I think the culture is just built around. There's better culture around other sports. Yeah, but I do think what you expose your kids to, they tend to gravitate towards some of it. I think that he'll play lacrosse. And I think part of the reason why I play lacrosse, even though I didn't play lacrosse, is that **** obviously was a very ****. The neighbor boy. Neighbor T was a competitive lacrosse player. And he played in college. And lacrosse is a big thing in Austin. Yeah. So. Yeah, maybe. And I'd like that. But I'm open. I'm easy. I don't know what he'll play. I don't know how tall he'll be. I mean, we have no idea.

46:01We have to see. Maybe he'll be a musician. Maybe he'll be in a band. I mean, I don't know. Time will tell. But I guess this is the question. I guess I counter your question with this question. Will you put him in football early on? Flag football. Or will it be what the neighborhood boys are doing? I think that we'll go with the flow on this. Yeah. I think actually I want to give him exposure to a lot. Great. And so I want to give him exposure to football. I want to give him exposure to a wide variety of activities. And that way he can choose what he enjoys and what he thrives in. He might like horses.

46:43Yeah. Might be a rancher. Yeah. Might be a professional bull rider. That would scare me. Yeah. I mean. You never know. Give him the exposure. But we'll see. Okay. All right. So Friday rituals, which is great. All right. Number two. This is what I DM'd you. This is what you DMed me. A dad going viral on TikTok for a genius hack to get his kid to stop crying. He simply cries back at them. Okay, it's a really cute video. And basically the daughter's crying and the dad's like waiting, waiting, waiting. And then at the end of her crying, he goes, okay, my turn. And then he's like, what? And she stops crying.

47:19And it's really quite funny. And the comment section is all just about people taking notes. And so the comments are supportive of. Yeah, of his tactic. Of his tactic. Cool. Yeah. I think as long as it's done in a warm and gentle way, I'm very supportive of it. I think if it's done in like an aggressive way, then. Or a mockery way. I'm not into it. Making fun of, no, he's very patient and he's just sitting on the floor with her. He's on her level. And then he just says my turn and he just does it back. Yeah. I think, I think that like that this is one of those things where like it can, I can see how it can be very effective, but I can also see how it can totally miss the mark.

48:05Yeah. But I just like bringing it to us. And I love creative parenting tactics. Okay. And another one that Harrison DMed me is a reaction to surprise birthday gifts. If you are looking to put a smile on your face, we will link this video. is kids opening toys and being very excited about the toys they open. And it is just, it is a pure like minute and a half, two minutes of joy. Well, I love the first one. So the first one is like, what do you think he is? 11 to 12 year old boy who gets a fake bike. He gets like a toy bike. He gets a little toy bike. And he's so excited about the little toy bike.

48:46But he even says, is that what you want? And he goes, no, but I still like it. And that's the kid. And then he turns around. And the dad revs up the big motocross bike. And he starts crying. Yeah, and he starts crying. But there's other great ones. There's a kid walking in and there's a PlayStation hung up on his wall. And it's just, it's a great. So I saw a mom this Christmas make a video and she was like, she was crying. And she was like, I'm going to give my kids their one birthday gift. And my husband and I worked seven months of double shifts in order to do this. and she was like and it was the most worth it thing in the world she goes and hands her kids the present and they're going on a family trip to Hawaii incredible and I mean these kids could not believe that they it gives me chills talking about it they were going to Hawaii and the mom was just like that is so worth it and I just thought it was so sweet to see it yeah I'm very excited for when Bubz can like actually appreciate the gifts that we get her oh man but I'll tell you what this ball this soccer ball that lights up yeah but she didn't know it was a present she was so yeah she just like She doesn't understand it, but she did like it.

49:52Yeah. She also really liked the purse with the wolf-wolf. We're in a big purse phase. Okay. Things I learned this week. Pregnant women who supplement with choline may have smarter babies. It's funny because my dad told me my mom just chugged choline when she was pregnant with me. Really? No. I'm kidding because it says they have smarter babies. You don't get that joke? Well, maybe my mom didn't have enough choline when she was pregnant. take my take your joke and spin it back it's not it doesn't work if you have to explain it pregnant women who increased their choline intake in a randomized controlled trial had children who scored a higher on iq and cognitive test with benefits tied specifically to

50:40not to undo my joke here but i don't know this word

50:47phosphatidylcholine no idea that word i just said comes from foods like egg yolks liver beef chicken fish dairy soybeans legumes and cruciferous vegetables okay is choline in uh most uh prenatal vitamins i have no idea i didn't i don't know what choline is you asked me today if i've increased my choline and I was like I don't know but let me tell you what I'm clocking like six to seven eggs a day so how about that and I'm eating a lot of chicken and beef and dairy okay bigger of the week so Harrison and I went to breakfast this morning before we came here and the place opened at nine and we got there at 8.55 I'm so curious how you're going to explain this there was a line wrapped around the building let's say a line of 20 people the girl comes out and she says reservations you guys can come to the front of the line so reservations get out of line they go to the front and then we're looking at the time we're like we got to go record so we're like we're going to go somewhere else because we're not sure we're going to get in this restaurant so we get out of line and we're walking and the hostess comes back out and she says any singles want to sit at the bar and harrison's like can she sit at the bar no no no i said can a double sit at the bar because he was like we're two singles that will sit at the bar and i got the death stare i was like don't do that i got like pulled do not say that and alex just sped off but i i want to retract now what i was thinking at first i was like that's so rude and then i was like no i see what you're saying you're just saying we're a pair of two that will sit at the bar can we go like i didn't get what you were saying like now i see exactly what you were saying she was yeah And she thought about it.

52:34She was like, I don't know. And I was like, no, come on. You pulled us out of there so fast. Jules, do you hear what I'm saying? Do you hear what happened? You're just saying, could two people sit at the bar? Yeah. But what if there was like a lot of twos in line that wanted to sit at the bar? I guess is my counterpoint. That's what Alex is saying. But then the priority of twos that sit at the bar can be done by order. By order. Yeah, it wasn't. Initially, I just was like, we're cutting everybody in line. Like, it just jolted me. But now that I thought about it, I do understand what you were saying.

53:07Yeah. I still don't know if I'm for it. She offered it. She offered it. She offered singles. Yes. We were a double. But that's why I said, can a double go to the bar? I'm sure there was a ton of doubles in line. But I asked the question. Right. On behalf of the doubles. But the problem was, there was this whole long line. And then she could have gone, yes. And then it'd be like, okay, what double wants to take the bar seat? And then she could have brought them in. I guess, but then, yeah, kudos to you for thinking of it. I didn't even think of it. Yeah, and instead, we ate down the street at a place that I would say was two and a half out of ten.

53:47I completely agree. I love the place we were in line for. Yeah. But the place we went to had good ratings. We're going, okay, guys, we're going to Whistler tonight. A lot of people ask me for Whistler Rex. Okay. So I would like to go first with Sushi Village because - It's the spot. It's classic. You don't need to dress up. The food's phenomenal. The vibe is the best. It's just a cozy, fun - Sushi. It's a great vibe. Very, yeah, very local feel. Is Blue Water the name of it? Wild Blue. Wild Blue. I give my favorite restaurant in North America. Fancy restaurant. It's fancy upscale dining. It's upscale dining, but it's a vibe.

54:31Yeah. Such a vibe. So Sushi Village. Wild, sorry, I'm cutting you off. Wild Blue. Sushi Village, Wild Blue. I'm just reiterating the list. Yeah. And Wild Blue, like you could feel like you're in New York. That's my thing. That's why I love it. I love a restaurant that you can, I think New York has the best restaurants. And if a restaurant to me is in a mountain town and like Whistler and feels, is the caliber of New York, I like it. And then Rimrock, where we're eating tonight and you haven't been, that's like a nice local restaurant. So that's like where we're eating good cuts of meat and it feels like appropriate for Mountain Town.

55:10Okay. I can't wait to try it out. So those are for sure the top three restaurants. And then where's high is like rank on that. It's just another place I've been. Oh, I think the Fairmont Hotel Bar is phenomenal. Fantastic. Very opres-ky. Longhorns opres-ky, very fun. Yeah, they're opposite ends of the spectrum. Longhorns is a party. It is a blast. Into the mountain, like truly bottle service. Yes. Whereas the Fairmont Bar, what's the name of it? Chateau? Yeah. Is like cozy. Nailed it. They're great. They're great. There's so many great places here. So High's is not on your list. High's is great.

55:49High's is great. They've got the phenomenal cheesy bread. Is it top three? No. Somewhere in the top five to top ten restaurants in Whistler. Okay, great. Yeah. All right. So one through three is Sushi Village, Wild Blue, and Rimrock. If you have three meals. Those are your three. Grab a casual splits burger. If you want to have a low-key burger night, that's kind of a fast food-ish place. Creek Bread Pizza, best pizza up there. That's what we're getting for New Year's. That's what we're doing for New Year's. Tomorrow night. Okay. Okay. We did it. We did the list. You guys, happy, if you're listening to this the day it comes out.

56:27Did you say happy new year? Have you almost new year? Happy New Year's Eve. Happy New Year's Eve. Happy New Year's Eve. And then if you're listening to this after the new year, happy new year. And on next Thursday, we have, nope, on Monday, we have a Q &A coming out. So we will talk to you on Monday. We love you guys. Thank you for listening. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast — HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! 🎉

We kick off the episode by talking about where our heads are at going into the new year (I call it the new year vibe lol) and what it looks like for us to mentally (and logistically) prepare for TWO UNDER TWO. Energy is finally coming back, priorities are shifting, and we’re very much in “get our lives dialed” mode before baby #2 arrives.

We recap our Montana trip (snow, dog sledding, cozy winter magic) and talk about traveling with a toddler, including a screen-free airplane hack that surprised us (for $19.99!!!!). We also get into a screen time “in the wild” discussion and the debate ongoing question of whether vacation is for meeting new friends… or fully opting out.

Then we get into Harrison’s (and Jules’) ChatGPT Wrapped (it knows us a little too well), rank international airlines, learn there’s now an airline for dogs (??), and share our top internet moment, show, and movie of 2025.

In Things We DMed Each Other, we talk about: (1) A study showing Friday family rituals can cut teen anxiety by 40% (adults too!). (2) A dad who goes viral for “crying back” to get his kid to stop crying (it works!). And (3) The most happiest corner of the internet: kids reacting to surprise gifts (link below, you’ve been warned).

We wrap with a classic Bicker of the Week about bar seating etiquette, our Whistler food recommendations, and a proper New Year’s send-off!!

LOVE YOU GUYS and cheers to 2026 :)
