In short

The hosts discuss OCD and treatment (NoCD), emergency contraception (Plan B), a tennis tournament update, upcoming Apple foldable-phone speculation, kid topics (potty training and weaning), baby sleep/SNOO transition, breastfeeding weaning decisions, media recommendations (Elizabeth Holmes/Nathan Fielder documentary; Social Network-esque AI film about Sam Altman), recent heists and marketing ideas (PBR beer heist; France paintings theft), and “wellness darties” (college wellness day parties).

Guests

No named guests appear; it’s a two-host episode featuring Howie Mandel and the “Two Parents in a Podcast” hosts (Jules and Harrison, plus Alex mentioned).

Key claims

OCD is severe and can worsen with general therapy; ERP via NoCD is presented as most effective and covered by insurance. Plan B delays ovulation and is available without ID/prescription. Potty training is approached as low-pressure “diaper-to-toilet hybrid” using rewards. Weaning is framed as a mental-load decision, with a gradual pump drop.

Notable examples

Rocky’s arms-out transition from the SNOO; a 3:30 a.m. tennis finish; Theranos/Elizabeth Holmes “Dropout” context; Nathan Fielder living with Holmes before jail; PBR beer truck theft; “wellness darty” confusion vs real events.

0:00There's the part of me that everyone sees. I'm Howie Mandel, the comedian. Apparently, I know what funny is. Funny bought me a house, but I also know what isn't funny. OCD. I've lived with OCD my entire life and people throw the term around like it's no big deal. But OCD is severe, often debilitating. It's a mental health condition that involves unrelented, unwanted thoughts that can make you question your character, your beliefs, even your safety. General therapy can help with some things, but for OCD, it can actually make things worse. That's why I want to tell you about NoCD. NoCD is the world's largest treatment provider for OCD and is covered by insurance for over 155 million Americans.

0:43Their licensed therapists specialize in ERP, the most effective treatment for OCD. If you think you might be struggling with OCD, go to NOCD.com to book a free 15-minute call. They are here to help. Plan B is a backup birth control option that's there for you when things don't go according to plan. It specifically works after unprotected sex and before pregnancy occurs by temporarily delaying ovulation. Plan B is available nationwide at all major retailers and through delivery apps like DoorDash. No ID, prescription, or age requirement. It's the number one OBGYN recommended brand of emergency contraception, and it won't impact your future fertility.

1:25That's freedom to be Use as directed

1:28Tate:Okay, Harrison's easy to go So, a couple things Big thing happened while we were asleep Do we know what happened while we were asleep? No First rain? New umbrellas? In true, I want to say the right word But it wouldn't work in the way I want to say it In true Taylor Swift Easter egg I'm giving you all an Easter egg There's a big Easter egg right now Your hat. Oh, who won? So last night. There's a hat that says tennis for those listening. I was so excited. I had a little evening by myself, supposed to be with Rocky and me, and we're going to watch a great tennis match. We're going to watch Al Karaz versus Shelton.

2:13I talked about Shelton on the last episode. The guy, he's the best. Real character. Long story short, the matches beforehand all ran super long. Tiafoe had like a five-hour match, a thriller, beat another American. Then Pagula had a big comeback win, another American. And long story short. No, it's long story long, honey.

2:39This match, it starts at 11 p.m. Eastern. Long story short, I'm sure. It finished at 3.30 in the morning. Oh, wow. Wow. Yeah. Eastern time or our time? 3.30 Eastern. The latest finish ever.

2:55Tate:Did people stay? Well, I haven't even watched the recap. I just saw it happened. They won. It went to five sets. Wow. And it was 7.6. It went as far as you can go. So if you're there, okay, so today's a Wednesday. So it's a Tuesday night. Are you staying till 3.30? It is the marquee match. That's the marquee matchup of the tournament. but the problem is like you're getting there you probably got there like 6 to 7 p.m. and you're getting home at 4 35 if you live in the city let's call it so if i have traveled to this game i'm staying no question and that's like the most electric thing ever if i live in new york and like just went for fun and i have work you know at 8 a.m that's tough yeah it's tough but yolo like i don't know truly truly you only live once yeah i don't know i'm torn who won So Shelton won.

3:51Tate:Wow. So the US Open, we have the makeup of a great weekend here. So semifinals is Shelton versus Tiafoe, two Americans. So we're guaranteed an American in the final. And then the other side of the tournament, like I don't even know who these guys are. So like one of them is like the number one ranked German, but I still don't, I don't, Zvev or something. But I didn't know, I didn't know them. so you know all eyes will be on i'll watch the american semis and then be chair for the american in the finals and then the woman's side is setting up to be awesome um you had pagula win last night she's taking on sabalenka who's number one in the world and i think it's won like 18 straight matches she won the u.s open the past two years but it's on the other side of the bracket uh very exciting dynamics.

4:43So Coco Gauff, who everyone loves. Yeah, people love Coco. Assuming she plays today, the person that she's going to play is ranked number two in the world. What people don't really realize is she's Russian. She now plays under the Kazakhstan flag, but was born in Russia. So we are getting a Russia-US semifinal, potentially. And that means Latu as a hockey fan? Isn't that like a hockey thing? The Russia-U.S. rivalry is like a big thing. In tennis or? In sports in general. Oh. So to see it in tennis is.

5:22Tate:What else besides hockey? Well, it all started in hockey. Okay. Yeah, that's why. Sorry. This is juicy. Yeah. Miracle and Lies. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Speaking of, you asked this question. What would be the first sports movie that you would show your child? It has to be Mighty Ducks. why does it have to be mighty ducks for me for me space jam i love space jam i love space ship mighty ducks it are they we are the ducks the mighty mighty ducks is that them don't think so oh what there's also bring it on bring it on bring it on to a little i was watching that when i was like nine there's if you watch it as an adult there's some stuff going on yeah like some major stuff really the I think my favorite sports movie of all time is probably Remember the Titans yeah it's a good one what about Air Bud love Air Bud for for a first kid movie great one yeah it would die I think if you're gonna just show them Remember the Titans like that's in the camp of like Seabiscuit like that is a very serious movie Seabiscuit very good Seabiscuit incredible I watched it pregnant Whenever we were in...

6:40Mighty Ducks, because growing up, hockey was such a big part of my life. That would be my... Here, you pick it with one kid and I'll pick it with the other kid.

6:48Tate:When I was in high school, we were at... Ignored. We were at state... What? I made a suggestion. What'd you say? You pick it with one kid, I'll pick it with the other kid. But then you said something else in the mic. He said ignored. Ignored. So I truly was ignored. No, no, no, no. Oh, I didn't hear you. I heard the part before that. When I was in high school, we were in state volleyball. and we were in the semifinals, I think. My coach, he said we're going to watch Seabiscuit and I was like, because you have a really, really long time, right? Like we had played in the morning and then he wanted us to do something good, take our minds off the game until we played at night.

7:23Tate:We went and saw Seabiscuit and on the way there, I was like, why are we going to like watch a movie about biscuits? Like I thought it was the stupidest thing ever and now it's one of my favorite movies. I absolutely loved it and it was such a good story to watch in the middle of that. Another big thing happening today. Do we know what's happening today? No. Big announcement today. Give us a hint. Okay. Now, we got to be tricky with it or we got to be careful with it because by the time this episode comes out, the announcement should have already happened. Okay. Hold on. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast.

7:57Tate:Thank you for listening. And if you're listening, like, like, and subscribe and send it to a friend. We love you guys. All right. What's the announcement? Should have already happened. Oh, what is it? give us like a hint like are we in finance are we in space every year around this time of year

8:16um i know so i can't guess what what's the date september 9th every september we typically get this not groundhog day

8:29Tate:you said like four funny things already this episode oh thanks jules harrison doesn't laugh that one of them um i don't know tell me or give me a hint okay i'll give you a hint without your phone that's the hint oh my gosh are they releasing a new phone it is it is speculated that apple is going to announce the new phone today and the new phone will be a foldable phone No way. No way. It's about time they spice things up. Should we place bets? Not bets. Yeah. Amongst yourselves. I think consensus is that it's going to be foldable. Who's guessing that? Who leaked? And$2 ,000. What I saw online was that, I saw that face, Jules.

9:19I want to go back to that face because it's a very valid face.

9:21Tate:The price of the phone? The price of the phone. Yeah. The shock reaction to the price is a valid shock reaction. but I'm going to do some spins on math. You're going to girl math us here? Okay. I didn't want to call it that. If you're going to make a case for a toothbrush that we touch twice a day at$500, this is going to be the easiest case you've ever made. So I used to delay getting a new phone. Then you met me. A friend of mine, what he told me is he said, assuming you get a new phone every two years, look at the cost of that phone on a per day basis. so you know the while this one is very expensive at two thousand dollars a year it is call it three dollars a day if you're going to use that phone for two years and considering it's your most used item like i get it super expensive when you look at it on a per day basis on a per use basis it's probably the best use of of money on a consumer good that that you can that you can spend other than flock chicken snacks okay i agree with that what is like what would what is an example of something you use more than your phone nothing i don't think anything maybe a car i guess but i want to bring this back to something i want to get our take on the foldable phone because and do you want me to go first here while you're thinking about it because my take is i feel like they're giving us something like my my gut would be they're giving us something that we didn't ask for because full of them phones have been around for many many years well they gave us something we didn't ask for with the first iphone but i trust apple and i trust that's what i was gonna say i trust that they're gonna nail this so i was gonna say this is a perfect example of them giving me something that i didn't know i needed that's my prediction i'm so mad you went first And to take it back two episodes ago, while Tim Cook has now stepped away as CEO.

11:23Tate:Timmy Apple. This is the last big product launch that he had his hands on. Yeah. i don't i don't think he would be stepping it away and introducing this if and he would have given the sign off if there was any chance it was going to flop well i actually now that you're saying that i think this is his parting gift to the world yeah like i actually think this is to be incredible but the two things i was going to say number one i trust apple number two they're giving it something we didn't know we needed which they did with the first iphone we didn't we couldn't imagine it and i'm down for them to mix it up a bit i'm just like well how what are been doing with cases here like i remember my friend john lee otherwise known as jung wook lee woke uh j-o-n-g space w-o-o-k lee that's his korean name jung wook lee okay he's from south korea yeah uh went to high school you call him john or have you been calling him jong the whole time i mean i know john that lee with the j-o-h-n same guy but you're calling him john i call him jung wook but like in text but in in in canada do you guys call him most people call him john but his friend like if you were to introduce himself to you would probably introduce himself as john but his like his friends call him jung wook okay yeah so we love it uh he was the first guy i knew to ever get an iphone and and we trolled him so hard and yeah he was right he was he was the visionary of it now he also switched to android very well and we didn't we didn't make the but i'll let him go well yeah well he switched it why why would you switch to android but he's he's back on hold on he's back on the iphone he's back i think they're like better i don't know Jules they are fully better that's why you would switch I think that the tech of the like but why then why can they not corner the market like Apple did okay he has the blue check mark still so he's back on the iPhone never mind sorry John why if the Android and I think the Google Pixel phone I think they are like objectively better than the iPhone why has Apple cornered the market it reminds me of Blackberry do you remember and the whole thing blackberry is bbm and i would not move away from from blackberry because of bbm was that were you guys on this train or no what was the bbm blackberry messenger so basically it was its internal messaging system you would get a check mark on delivery um and it's very much like the iMessage which you can which you can iMessage on wi-fi which is unbelievable does android have the equivalent of that?

14:13No, but I think that that, I think that's created a massive, uh, or that's created massive friction, friction and transferring phones.

14:21Tate:Yeah. Okay. Guys, our entire team here on this two parents in a podcast, we have a new obsession and it's cure and we need it in Austin. It is September and it is still 100 degrees out here. Sorry to talk about the weather. I know we're not doing that, but plain water. It's not cutting it anymore for any of us. Cure is an electrolyte mix and here's why we love it. It's coconut water and pink Himalayan salt doing the work. There's no sugar, no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners, nothing you can't pronounce. You can flip the packet over and actually read the ingredients, which is not something I can say about all of the competitors.

14:55Tate:And you guys, it tastes like actual fruit. It's not too sweet. It's not too salty. There's no artificial aftertaste that's happening, which is honestly the hardest part to get right with electrolytes, and they absolutely nailed it. If you've ever wondered what is in Jules' giant peak water bottle while we're recording, it's Cure. Her favorite is the Blood Orange, and she's recently gotten really into the Tropical Punch as well. Harrison and I, we are obsessed with the lemonade right now. Like, I actually cannot get enough of it, and I split my packet up. I have part of it in the morning and the other part of it in the afternoon.

15:28Tate:And if you have no idea where to start there's a variety pack so you can try a bunch of the flavors and find your favorite one cure is the electrolyte mix i've started reaching for daily with clean ingredients and nothing artificial it's become easy to stay hydrated find it on amazon or save 20 at curehydration.com with code 2 parents okay i'm gonna move us along here ladies and gentlemen we have a great episode today um number one let's just do like some kid things because for some reason even though we recorded on monday a million things it feels like have happened with the kids since then uh we are we're like not potty training tape but we're potty training tape and the way we did it was harrison got a little pink and white toilet you talk about this you've kind of taken the lead on it i think your chief potty trainer i think we well i don't even know what we want to call that like i think we tripped and fell into potty training well you did order the toilet i I ordered the toilet and I ordered the toilet because two reasons.

16:31One, I knew eventually we were going to potty train. Yep. And two, like I ordered it when she started paying attention to the bathroom and what was going on.

16:41Tate:Yeah. She baked that at PP. Like she was interested in what was going on in the bathroom. And like long story short, she, she's yeah. She started using the, she started using the toilet. No, that's, you can't do that on this. like so okay so you got the toilet okay and then she would be she will at first she would sit on it with like her clothes on and then she would just be like tape pee pee like yes that's where you pee pee but we didn't push it we just wanted to see her interest to level in it now recently she's wanted to start like taking her diaper off and sitting on the toilet and without like getting into it too much we've had some very successful very successful bathroom runs and we keep it in our bathroom downstairs and what we've done is if she if she goes to the bathroom we have a party afterwards like we jump up and down we do high fives we like dance and it's become it's really really really cute she's using it about two times a day and she's staying in her diapers um but we're just getting her familiar with what it feels like to use the toilet what i'll say as this all comes my mom was here this weekend when she saw what was going on with the toilet she said that if she didn't see it she wouldn't believe that yeah so like if you try if you called me and told me that you were doing this because i think that what we're not what we're not doing is like we don't have a time when we want to get out of diapers we actually her being in diapers is quite convenient um but we we know eventually like your mom says no one goes to seventh grade in diapers we know eventually she'll be out of the diapers and so instead of doing like a weekend at home with no diaper on where she runs around and like learns that to pee on the floor and things not learns to but has accidents we just thought we would do it this way and see what happened yeah so uh that's how we tripped and fell into product training we bought it we left it there and she started using it when the time felt right for her but she'll probably stay at this stage for a bit she'll stay at this diaper this hybrid this diaper toilet hybrid for a long time and then one day we'll just be like okay no more diaper tate doesn't and the way i'll probably say it is no diaper for tate no for mama no for dada rocky keeps his diaper and then we'll explain to her the toilets and we need to get the foldable toilet you can take on the go that's a big one yeah so here's my prediction my prediction is she's just going to start using it more and more and more because she likes using it and she realizes it's a lot more comfortable to use it than not and i think she's kind of going to leave the charge on that that's that's what i think i have a question based on what i'm saying are you going to get those little potties and put them in every bathroom in the house or is she just using the one bathroom is there anything behind that it's a great question jules why don't you talk about what happened last night in in our bedroom Oh, yeah, we were upstairs and she was like, tape potty.

19:40And Harrison was like, do we take you?

19:42Tate:Do you want to go upstairs or downstairs? And she pointed down she wanted to go to her toilet. Because I think that our toilets, to scale for her, they're massive. And so I think she really liked because she likes to do things herself. So I think we're going to need at least one upstairs and one downstairs. Okay. There's also this type of toilet. It's unbelievable. It's like it's thicker than the iPad, but it folds down like this. You can throw it in the stroller in the back of your car and then you pop it down and they can sit on it when you're on the go. If they still don't want to use the adult toilets out and about.

20:15Tate:It's pretty cool. So we got to get that too. Maybe not yet. That's kind of the type of this process that I'm trying to avoid. Like I'm very pro convenience. Very like. Okay. So what do you want to do? Like when we're at the coffee shop, you want her to go to the real bathroom? I think that when she transitions fully away from diapers, hopefully she can just use the real bathroom. Okay. I don't know, but I don't know how far away she is from that. I don't either. But I'm down to like, here's what I've liked so far. We've just followed our gut and we're just kind of like seeing how it goes and there's no pressure.

20:51Tate:Like when you remove, one thing that's so nice with kids is when you remove the pressure around like, she's got to be potty trained in a month. She's like, eh, or not. Right? 100%. Like technically she's off bottles, but sometimes when she really wants the bottle, we're like, you know what? You can have the bottle today because why not? Because Rocky's having one and it doesn't make any sense. You're not even two yet. So you can have the bottle too. And it's not so rigid in our household. Gave her a bottle this morning and she probably had barely a half a sip. She wanted to make sure that she could get it.

21:27I will say one on two is a lot.

21:30Tate:Yeah. So speaking of Harrison had to do one on two this morning because rocket man. Well, you did the night shift is wrecking me these past two nights. So two nights ago, he was up every hour, one 16 to 16, three. And it was weird. It was always the 16 because I was checking the time to see. He inherited your superpowers. He did. He, he knew it's like one hour cry. And I'm like, okay, Rocky last night he did midnight three, but at three, he did just take the passy. Sometimes I'm trying to put the Patsy back and then I'll try to go back to bed and see if he'll just keep the Patsy in his mouth. Or sometimes he spits it down and he keeps crying.

22:06Tate:So he only drank a bottle at midnight in five. But he did need some attention and I held the Patsy in there and rubbed him a little bit around three. So last night was a lot better. Where we need to get back to was we had him sleeping seven to eight hours. People call it a regression. There's always a regression. We took his arms out of the snow. yes that's right because okay so two nights ago i was like we can't do that like why is he waking up every hour i think he's waking up every hour he's in the snoo he's really like you velcro their arms down he's extra swaddled because he's rolling now i don't know if we've talked about that before rocky roll yeah yeah okay and he's like super rolling now though i mean he's got it down he's proud of it he whips that leg around he like looks at you and he's like i rolled and i'm like i saw that rocky was awesome he flips his legs up he's like he's so cute and then he we were like i said maybe he okay sorry i'm trying to remember this so at the five o 'clock wake up two nights ago i said you just don't seem comfy so i took him with me and i put him on my chest and he like passed out but i noticed the position he really wanted to be on was laying on my chest and he loves to nap face down.

23:26Tate:In the snoo, you're strapped face up. So I was thinking maybe now that he can roll, he's just not comfy in this snoo. But the way to transition out of the snoo is not just one day. You have to go from strapping their arms down to putting their arms out. So last night he had his arms out and he did great with it. So we could probably do a couple more nights of arms out and then, I don't know, maybe Rocket Man's going to his crib sooner than Tate did. Tate made it six months in the snoo and then did her crib. But Rocky's appearing to go faster than that. i'm also weaning in in other news in the baby world what we have a question on that oh on what weaning or rocky i'm weaning okay how can we talk through that the the process the decision tree you know what the decision to make it the decision to stop pumping yeah and breastfeeding yeah it became it finally became sort of a burden like i wasn't looking forward to it anymore and i did the math.

24:24Tate:For two years and nine months, I was pregnant. Then immediately after pregnant, I was pumping and breastfeeding. Then to the week that I stopped, I got pregnant again. And now I've been pumping and breastfeeding again. And I think my body would like a break knowing that we would, God willing, like to have a third kid. I'm just like, don't do it back to back again, Alex, because you need that break in there where you're not waking up every day and pumping or breastfeeding or having the letdowns and it's not constantly on your mind. And I think there's a lot to when you stop pumping and breastfeeding, hopefully I'll get a little more energy.

25:02Tate:And I think it's just this added mental load that I'm looking forward to. I'm just saying, you know what, I'm not doing it anymore. And it's just a gut decision. And I've always said that's what I would do. My goal was three months. I made that. With Tate, my goal was six months and I went to a year and that's like how i always do things and i'm just like stop you're phenomenal um you're still you're doing phenomenal i am so emotional this doesn't need to make sense to me but it does make sense to me yeah that's a good way to put it uh the the added observation that i would share is like yeah you you you started pushing it off like you used to be so regimented about your pumping times and you'd be going like three four hours past when you normally do it then you'd turn to me like i was supposed to pump you know four hours ago and that's when i was like oh i think i see what's happening here so the emotional part of it is like i think the reason i was putting it off was because when when i feel like i'm weaning off i feel like i i'm admitting to myself that my kid's grown up, which I hate, like he's not a newborn anymore.

26:17Tate:So that's been really emotional for me. And how does it feel now that you've decided to do it? It feels good because while it's sad and hard on me physically, which I'll talk about how I feel emotionally. Well, it's not hard on me physically. Sorry, it's hard on me emotionally. But I'll talk about that in a second. But I'm glad that I finally made the decision. And, you know, my advice is always, if you're going to stop pumping your breastfeeding, do it on a good day. And I did start doing it on a good day. I did it on a, I was like, I'm happy to be doing it today. And from here, we're going to start dwindling down.

26:57Tate:So today, I didn't even pump this morning. I'm going to see how it goes. I'm going to have to pump once today, but I'm really trending down. And how different does the responsibility of breastfeeding feel with your first baby versus your second baby? So different. Oh, that's such a good question. With Tate, it felt like a ton of bricks on me. And I was happy to be doing it. And it's special and it's sweet. And I think it's good for the babies. And you know what? actually with Tate, it was easier because it was all I was doing. I had one kid in one stage. I had, you know, it's, it's, it's all hands on deck when you have your first baby with Rocky, you know, last night I'm at dance class and then I'm up all night with Rocky.

27:52Tate:Like it's, we're very, we're, we're, um, between two balance beams. Right. And so it's like my, it's not all just this newborn bubble where you're breastfeeding and the environment like really is designed for that. Right now, it's like we got chaos going on. We're going to dance and we're going to do this. We're doing that. And like the pumping's not conducive to that. I love our stage of life right now. And one thing that was weighing me down was the pumping. And so I was just like, you know what? We're just going to stop this and we're just going to go. And I'm excited about that. I thought I was going to cry talking about it today.

28:25Tate:I'm not. I'm very happy to be talking about it out loud and working through this because ultimately, yeah it's gonna be it's gonna be a good thing and rocky got he got all his breast milky you've done a phenomenal job how it feels on me emotionally though this weaning off is harder than it was for tate so the way i do it is i drop a pump a week so i've been doing this for the past two weeks and this is the third week and i'm pumping twice a day now for around eight to ten minutes i just moved eight to ten minutes in new york because the best thing that happened was i I was away from Rocky for three days and your baby triggers your supply.

29:06Tate:They trigger letdowns. So being away from him, I was like, okay, I really need to like lessen the amount of time that I'm pumping. So I did, I did my work while we were gone, but now I'm only pumping morning and night this morning though. I didn't even do it. Like I was running out of time and I was like, let's just see how it feels. And I would say it feels fine. Actually. I, I, I think you've done a phenomenal job with it. And I, and I, I, I really believe in you and I believe in you following your life. your instinct and so if your instincts are telling you the time is now. I have to do it at some point in this, the point is now.

29:38Tate:I'd love, you know, sometimes I think, oh, I'll delay it a little longer. Nope, today's the day, honey. All right, let's move it along here. I have a question. What? I feel like you really trust your motherhood instincts and I really trust your motherhood instincts. At what point did you know you could trust your motherhood instincts? Oh, what a good question. Well, it's funny.

30:10Oh, I don't know.

30:12Tate:I can't answer that right now. Like, there's so many times, like, part of me almost wasn't going to answer when Tate was in the womb and, like, I just felt so connected to her. Like, I was just like, I know I've got this little girl. And then there was also the part where, like, she was really, really hysterically crying early on. I just took her upstairs in the room and I was, like, breastfeeding her and talking to her. And then there's all these moments. But my biggest point with this is the muscle grows. Is that the right analogy? Like you have little muscles, you know, and when she's little, you're doing like the little weights, but I've seen the older she gets.

30:49Tate:Also, I'm able to say like, okay, I can redirect, like learning how to redirect her. So I'm gaining my motherhood confidence the more we get into it. but then there's also I say that and then there's also times where I'm like that was humbling yeah no it it makes a lot of sense the time that jumps out to me was what you just spoke to on the first time she started like hysterically crying home and you took her to the room and calm day how did you know you could trust your fatherhood instincts

31:20Tate:this is a tough question too because it's like you know you never know what the next day holds and anything they know that and you take your eye off the ball one minute and something can happen but doesn't still mean that you don't have great motherhood instincts like it's very very human humanizing question i almost think that watching you handle that first crying situation the way you did made me check myself on okay like if she can do it i can do it oh because i don't have that specific moment like that where i took it on and i think from there i just kind of said all right let's roll okay let's be real i wear the same handful of things over and over again i have a whole closet and i reach for maybe the same five pieces and here's the thing those five pieces have to be good and that's what quince does best quince makes elevated everyday essentials out of really premium materials like mongolian cashmere organic cotton and washable silk that's right like you could actually wash the silk and it still looks really good the designs are timeless and the quality is awesome like the clothes are actually made to be worn again and again and again and they also have premium stretch denim leather bags footwear and 14 karat gold jewelry that pulls a whole look together you guys you guys know i love a basic tee and a tank my favorite right now is the cotton modal double scoop neck tank it's so chic you guys and you can wear it whenever you want you wear it with jeans you can wear leggings and it has become one of those five things that I reach for constantly.

33:29Tate:That's Q-U-I-N-C-E dot com slash Alex. All right. Elizabeth Holmes documentary. I'm dying to see it. I can't believe I haven't yet. So I got to jump in. October 16th. It hasn't come out. Okay. That's why I haven't seen it. So I have two movie updates. Okay. We are getting a social network-esque AI movie on Sam Altman. An AI. Okay, thank goodness. I mean, I love the social network. That, I believe, is coming out Christmas, Select Theaters. I love a Christmas Day movie. Andrew Garfinkel. Garfield? Andrew Garfield. Wait, who's that? Andrew Garfield. But Andrew Garfield was in the social network now?

34:15Yes. Oh my goodness, he was in both.

34:18Tate:Who was he in the social network? Eduardo Saverin. Oh! The co-founder that sued Zuck. Yes, yes. This movie could be phenomenal. And then the very interesting Elizabeth Holmes movie. Is it a movie or documentary? It's a documentary. Do you know who Nathan Fielder is? Mm-hmm. He does a lot of... trolling, you know, really unique, dry humor stuff. Who, who, can you give us an example? That's Nathan, I think is the show. Is that about himself? He does these like skits. Okay. He's a comedian. Okay. The opening, the trailer of this is probably the best trailer I've, it's the best trailer I've seen all year.

35:15Tate:What did he do? What's the, give us the premise here? It's just him looking in Elizabeth Holmes' eyes, trying to get an understanding of if she is being real or if she is just completely full of shit. And it is very, I think, symbolic of the struggle that he goes through as he's filming on what is real and what is an act. but does he live with her for 34 days leading up to her sentence yeah so that's what the movie is is he spends 36 days with her before she goes to jail uh including living in her home for a couple of days and he's just filming her the whole time i only saw the 20 you know the 20 30 second she she to me because let's let's you know i'm sure everyone knows but uh what was it called Theranos.

36:08Theranos where she was like help treating people with cancer. She was like testing. They claimed that they could run all of these tests on a singular drop of blood versus like having to get vials and vials and vials of blood filled. And in the and in the movie that I watched or whatever what did I watch? You probably you I think listened to the podcast and then watched the dropout on Hulu.

36:34Tate:Yeah I think I I think I watched the dropout and I think I also listen to the podcast. And what is, there was this, it seemed like she started out and she wanted to do something good. I don't know if she wanted to do something good as much as she wanted to just, I don't know if she wanted to do something good for people as much as she wanted to become someone. She was obviously obsessed with Steve Jobs. I mean, she dressed like him. So what's so, what is going to be so heart tugging about this documentary, I assume is, did she know and then did she decide to keep going instead of admitting failure and going back to the drawing board you know can this people like this it's what i read in the synopsis or the commentary from uh i guess it debuted at what it debuted at one of the film festivals and the people going in to watch it didn't know what they were going to see so no one knew very very very no one knew about this essentially okay about about the documentary being filmed and people said they learned a lot in the documentary so i think there's parts of the story that come out that we weren't familiar with before how long is she going to jail for a long time i think it may be 11 years wow 11 years

37:56yeah 10 years and three months the thing that i run that like is that they're launching some new version of theranos and that they talk about that in documentary okay interesting in theory like if theranos can work that's amazing like i do want that i want things like that in the health care system yeah i just but okay okay i don't know all right pbr heist

38:28Tate:there was a there was a pbr truck that had a bunch of cases of beer and it was stolen i'm gonna pivot this okay because you know what also happened overnight another heist There was another heist in France. What was it? Four paintings stolen. They got away with two of them. One of them. No, did it get? Estimated over 2 million. The other 200 ,000. Oh, I thought you were going to say one of the paintings that they didn't get away with got damaged. No, it kind of sounded like they took four out but could only get off with two. it it feels like there's been this wake-up call in france that these museums with millions and millions and millions of dollars of of artwork just have very lackluster security actually feels like there has not been the wake-up call but maybe now would be the time to wake up well the wake-up call for the burglars because i feel like we're hearing about this more and more and more and it's like come on french museum people right like let's get some security tighten it up what are we doing here well you know i think for a while nah because like the i don't know the pbr what happened there seventy thousand dollars a beer was stolen that's a lot of beer i believe it was the largest beer heist ever random i'm waiting for the pbr marketing behind this to come out you said this like it is oh what is it what is it they are like all of this like we're giving um out what's it called oh my god twenty thousand dollar like twenty thousand dollars you have 18 days and 44 minutes to bring it back that's like a nod to the year that they were founded like this is pbr's marketing is how we're hearing about this for the most part.

40:27Tate:Okay. Here's my question. What are you going to do with all the beer? Like if you steal$70 ,000 worth of beer, like then I got to go sell it. I mean, like what am I going to do with it? So if they put out a$20 ,000 reward, I would just think I'll take the 20. Like I would take the truck back and think I found it. I found it on the side of the road. Yeah, they're definitely selling it. Well, yeah. I assume there's a black market for all this. For beer? Like who? Who's like, let's do beer? Diamonds is a lot. It's like one trade. I assume that a lot of these things happen from the inside out. And so you have someone who's working there and who sees or working in the industry who sees a way to go in and sees like a hole in the supply chain.

41:15Yeah, the McDonald's thing. Pardon? Like the McDonald's thing. Like the McDonald's. McMillions. McMillions. Monopoly. What happened there? Oh, gosh.

41:25Tate:Too much to explain. Have they stopped McDonald's Monopoly? Were they rigging it? I don't remember. I don't remember. Okay. I watched a documentary on it. Okay, guys, listen up when I say this. Feeding decisions are not a one-time thing. You make them over and over and over again, stage after stage, day after day. And every time you think you've figured it out, you move into a new phase and you're back to reading labels again. And that's why I love Little Spoon. Little Spoon is there for every single stage, and I trust it each time over and over again. All of their baby and toddler products are tested for over 500 contaminants, including heavy metals, and they've banned more than 100 ingredients across the board.

42:06Tate:So I'm not standing in an aisle overthinking a label because it's already been thought through for me. Right now, Tate is obsessed with the Yogos. She calls them Go-Go's. That's just what we're rolling with in our house now. And we love the Puffs. They are organic. They're made with simple ingredients and they're easy for the little hands to go in and grab. And this sounds like a small thing, but it's a huge deal. The package is resealable. So like on the way to dance last night, I brought her some puffs. She didn't eat them all. We sealed them up. We went into dance. We came back out. Boom. She ate the rest of them, you guys.

42:37Tate:And they have the perfect thing for teething, which is these puffs because they're soft and you can put them in your mouth and they can still eat them and it doesn't hurt them so much, you guys. Also, they've got biteables that are cut into the perfect size for self-feeding. Plates with hidden veggies for the picky stages and you want to get the veggies in. And so it changes as your kids grow. Feeding the kid doesn't have to be complicated. Little Spoon makes it easy with real nutritionally balanced meals and snacks designed for every stage. It shows up ready to go, takes the pressure off, and somehow still gets devoured veggies and all.

43:09Tate:No artificial dyes, flavors, or sweeteners either. And you know what? that's a win I'll take every time. Get 30 % off your first online order at littlespoon.com slash two parents with code two parents. That's L I T T L E S P O O N.com slash two parents with code two parents for 30 % off your first order. All right. So all in all, there was a, there was a France heist overnight and there was the PBR heist. I don't think they're getting the beer back. I'm just going to assume that they're not. I would agree. My point on the marketing thing, jewels was more so like i i know they did the twenty thousand dollar thing to get it back and sorry no all i'm saying is that's a marketing theme it's not they're not actually given i thought i thought there was like more to it i i thought there was more that could be done oh okay well what do you think could be done give us an example so one in every a thousand cans says stolen on it and if you get a stolen can, you get some form of prize.

44:14Tate:Something like that. And would that, would the goal there then be to increase sales?

44:21Tate:Like then they, what are you gonna make some of your money back? I don't know. Who lost the money here? P,

44:28guys, this whole time.

44:33I thought we were, okay, I get it now.

44:38Tate:did you think of the rodeo i thought it was professional bull riding and i thought that they had a shipment coming and i and then like that shipment that they had bought so what i was gonna ask was who lost here the beer can company themselves or pbr perhaps some non-alcs were stolen too i think like some non-alcs or milwaukee or something i was gonna say pbr wasn't doing a good enough job like they could make more of a buzz here we could put a cowboy on the can okay got it pbr should have a field day with this that thank you that's like i don't have the marketing idea but i think it was more than just twenty thousand dollars to help find the reward like creating some heist uh store i i don't know i i feel bad that i'm stalling out now but this feels like a marketing opportunity that fell in their lap where i would love to be seeing a little more i agree they should do something i don't know if you run pbr's marketing like do think of something cool because this it's they don't pay us for that they pay you they they have a in milwaukee the pabst mansion that you can go and tour okay it's all decorated for christmas time i have my idea there's something you can do there yeah i have my idea okay okay and i'm going to play into the pabst mansion perfect okay heists are um hot right now they're very very hot and people that and we've talked about this before how good of a robber would you be right could you execute it so they should set up the pbr mansion and they should set up like a an entrapment do you know the movie entrapment with antony banderas but so they should set something up and you have to buy tickets and get in line and they'll have like a PBR beer can right in the middle.

46:29And if you can steal the beer can without setting off the alarm, then you win a$100 ,000 prize or a million dollar prize. Like create a heist for people to compete in that's obviously safe. Of course, at the Pabst Mansion. That's pretty cool. Like feels very Mr. Beast-esque. Steal this can, get a million dollars. Steal this can without getting caught, get a million dollars.

46:53Tate:or you could you could bury the can just a little easier bury the can or put out five cans like you were saying and then pbr sales will go through the roof because people are trying to get the can yeah and if you get the can you win the price done the only thing that is buying there's some complexities with if you can't forcing entry through purchase is like tricky so whatever save that for another time we'll suspend our what is it suspend our disbelief suspend our belief what does that mean no ship our belief what like really like i shipped that not at all oh i've been trying i i this is the time for them to to recreate a heist experience for consumers that's that's the marketing opportunity didn't a snack recently get stolen too like goldfish or gushers or something oh i don't know oh you are correct what was it i like think it was kit kat it was or chocolate no there was i think you're right it was a missing kit kat thing recently and they never found them in march of 2026 there was a truck in italy that was hijacked of kit kats yeah so to suspend your disbelief this is our word of the week okay to intentionally set aside your logic critical thinking and real world expectations to accept the unreal or impossible events of a story okay okay so say the word again suspend your disbelief suspend disbelief to suspend disbelief okay we put a board here that just writes all of our fancy words i have used collective effervescence just i really have you have and i've tried and i forget it every time i have worked that into like 10 to 12 sentences suspend disbelief yeah set aside your logic set aside your logic stop being the skunk at the garden party and just let us think we can do it.

48:38Tate:Perfect. More so like that. Okay. Last thing we'll discuss, wellness darties, because these, I've been seeing these online. Basically colleges have started having darties, day parties, but instead of them being like drinking beer pong parties, they are wellness parties. What I saw was a lot of people responding to that, being like, don't know what a wellness darty is, but here's me in college back in 2016. And it's like somebody jumping on a table and like breaking it in half being like unclear what your dark what you guys are doing but here's what we did what do we think my initial instinct without having seen the videos is the videos were created as trolls no no they're not if you invited me to a wellness starting college i would have been like thank you so much i'm not going to be able to make it and we could bring this to like what's going on in austin like they're doing these all the time for adults but i'm down to go to an adult one like i was wondering in a way harrison after they ran the high rocks jeff was like we should do like some cold plunge um sauna situations on saturday mornings like the older you get the worse you feel for going out which is why when you're in college it's very important that you have fun and not do your wellness tardies or you can do your wellness tardies but just i would say make sure you're doing both yeah i i don't think it's real okay it is real it is real so suspend your disbelief correct that it's put the side that you think it's fake yeah that wouldn't be the darty's i'd be going to nope okay what does that mean up up up that's a good way to wrap it okay can i do my things we dm'd yes you guys didn't let me tell you yesterday so Oh my gosh.

50:29Yes. Okay. The Girl Scouts have dropped a new cookie. Okay. What do you guys think the cookie is? Protein. I think it's a protein cookie. You got to give us a hint. If I give you a hint, it's like, it's going to be so clear. So then take a step off the hint. I'm worried that it's like, it's perhaps not for humans. A dog treat. Yeah. Oh my gosh.

50:53Tate:Those girls are so smart. I was just about to say, like, you two probably don't buy a lot of Girl Scout cookies. Now you will. Yeah. Now you will. Genius. Genius. Genius. Terrible hint. That was way too obvious. Well, I didn't know what you wanted me to say. Like, I would have loved that here would have been a great hint. You guys won't buy this, but the neighbors would. Okay. That would have been a great hint. You're so right.

51:26Tate:it's always easy when it's not you, you know? Like when you're not the one that has to think of it, kind of like, you know how it was hard for you to think of the PR thing. This is very, very, very smart. Genius. Very smart. Except you can only buy them online. Hate that. Why did they do that? I don't know. I almost, I'm very mad about that. Next year though, I'm sure that. The experience is you're supposed to get the door to door or like when you're going to the supermarket. People are saying these innovations are coming off the back of Pim. Remember Pim? and her mom Pim on TikTok no yeah we talked all about her yes that girl that was like ripping through Girl Scout sales online yes she was crushing it they're saying that this is all off the success of Pim's online sales is Girl Scout cookies sales going to be on TikTok shop talk about a way to crush great question talk about a way to monopolize the market okay we love you guys thank you for listening happy Wednesday and we will talk to you on Friday thank you for listening thanks for listening to another episode of Two Parents If you enjoyed the show, don't forget to subscribe, like, comment, rate, and review.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Wednesday!! It's a big day of kid updates: we officially tripped and fell into potty training Tate.. no method, no timeline. Harrison bought a little toilet when she started getting curious, we left it there, and she started using it when it felt right for her (removing the pressure has been the whole magic!) Meanwhile Rocky is in a sleep regression (idk, we feel like we just call everything a regression??), and Alex is weaning off of breastfeeding and shares it all: the decision tree, how she's doing it, and the emotional part nobody warns you about.. All of which turns into one of our favorite convos we've had: when did you know you could trust your parental instincts?

But before all that: Harrison's big tennis night!! Alcaraz vs. Shelton raised the real question: would you stay at a sporting event until 3:33 AM?! (we can't decide)… Plus the new iPhone might be FOLDABLE?! (and as of the time that Jules is writing this, it's officially announced!!) We debate whether Apple is giving us something we didn't ask for, or something we don't know we need yet.

Then Harrison has his eyes on two new movies: we're getting a Social Network-style movie about Sam Altman ("Artificial".. we are SO in) and a Nathan Fielder documentary where he spends 34 days with Elizabeth Holmes before she reports to prison?! (WOW)

And in THINGS WE DMED EACHOTHER: are heists BACK? Someone stole $70K of PBR and Harrison workshops the marketing opportunity live (a heist experience at the Pabst Mansion.. you're welcome, PBR), college kids are throwing WELLNESS parties now (meanwhile in 2016 we were dancing on tables lol), and the Girl Scouts dropped a new cookie that is.. not for humans?! (those girls really know what they’re doing…)

Hope everyone is having a great week :-) LOVE YOU GUYS!
