In short
Dating and sports “red flags,” social media’s addictive design (mentioned), World Cup soccer complaints (diving/flopping, offside, VAR/ref bias), and parenting/product talk including “5 baby products worth the money” plus baby updates.
Guests
No external guests are named; it’s hosted by the “Two Parents in a Podcast” group (Austin, Harrison, Jules, and others referenced). No guest bios provided.
Key claims
Sports-watching reveals character early in dating: red flags include a partner’s mood collapsing when their team loses, binge drinking/excess partying after wins/losses, getting annoyed when you talk during the game, mocking you for not knowing rules, and risky betting behavior. Soccer is criticized for flopping and for stopping the game with penalty reviews that may reflect bias. Social media is framed as “addictive design,” though details aren’t provided in the excerpt.
Notable examples
A bar-date awkwardness story at Jeffrey’s; a catfishing dating-app story; World Cup England-Norway/England-Argentina comparisons; sports-betting stats (small % of users win); baby update on Rocky (sleep stretches, milk intake) and Tate’s chill vs Rocky’s go-with-the-flow temperament.

Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. It's just a Monday in the middle of summer. You know, one of those July Mondays. Austin really slows down in the summer.
0:43You can pretty much get in any restaurant you want. It feels just very slow. But yesterday was the first. So I know everyone's always like, the heat. We're not going to talk about the weather on this podcast. But I did feel it yesterday when it was like, what do you want to do? I was like, I just want to be like, whatever we do, I want to be inside. or I wanted to be on the lake but we're members of a boat club which we've talked about but um the boats were they were sold out yesterday we couldn't get on so we couldn't go and yeah that was the first time where I was like wow I can't believe I'm saying that usually I'm like get over and go outside it's too hot no it's hot yesterday yeah I didn't even notice and not talk about the rain but the day before the rain was insane that wasn't it was cozy though it could be delaying the yard we had a great yard meeting today but they're they're the um they're saying that the what the rain may now delay oh why yeah um because they can't they don't work in the rain but is it supposed to rain this week apparently no that's what the the weekly recap email said oh you do you get weekly recap emails on the yard yeah do you send them or who sends them they send them who's they the general contractor contractor i don't know if we know that but we went with contractor on yard no we don't know that okay it um he's awesome it was solidified when in the process of moving the pipes is i realized this project is i bit off more than i can chew we're gonna pay the premium uh just making sure everything ties together was was it got a little overwhelming for me because like you do what should I should I talk about this or is it gonna get boring it's gonna get a little boring okay so I'll stop but there's just a lot of moving pieces you retaining walls your fences you have stairs there's also rocks I have a question guys do you guys look at the weather or do you just live your life regardless you know I don't look at the weather this is the thing about me I don't look at the weather because it makes me in like in a bad mood so i don't want to be proactively in a poor mood like if it's going to rain on wednesday also why make why look at the weather when the probability of it being correct especially in austin is so wrong so that's one thing that's gotten more interesting i remember weather i thought used to be primarily always accurate like if it said it was going to rain it always rained now i've really noticed we saw rain on the weather forecast for weeks and it never rained like i'm kind of a bit shocked we're getting this far off i would think our weatherometer you know the national weather center is in oklahoma yeah middle of the united states look at that um it's p's birthday happy birthday p happy birthday she is can we say how old you are the ripe age of 23 just imagine being 23 how old do you feel 28 i feel 27 how old do you feel 18?
3:45I feel 23. She feels 23. I felt 23 at 23. I only started feeling younger than my age once I hit the three handle. That actually might be true. I probably did feel 23 at 23. What did you do on your 23rd birthday? Ooh, that would have been New York, Manhattan.
4:06I've never been a big birthday guy, but I had a really fun crew of friends at that point, a bunch of Canadians who had just moved to the city. who were just the most caring people, and I assumed they would have done something very nice and sweet for me. That's awesome. I can't remember what I did. That was like Meryl and Rob and all them. So you had a fun night in the city. Mackenzie. Funny enough, I meant to send this text, but do you guys have this where your calendar populates with the most random birthdays? Yes, yes. My dad's friend Greg McDougal. it's like Greg McDougal's 72nd birthday isn't that because your dad sent you Greg's contact and it had the birthday in it yeah yeah wow and if you wish someone happy birthday it'll like populate it into their contact I believe interesting which you probably never wished Greg happy birthday but your dad there was a friend of mine from that uh who I was very close with in New York named Mackenzie Yeats and it was her birthday last Friday I meant to text her because we probably haven't spoken in like five six years being like oh my god I saw it's your birthday on my calendar screenshot it and set but she's doing very good home design work in toronto oh that's cute yeah so i follow her home renovation journey you know there's this guy kevin williams you know i'm uh caitlin's brother okay who you know i go three four years without seeing every year he's one of the first 10 to wish me happy birthday i text him back then he texts me back again like I hope the families do and it's just like it's the and that's all our texts are we don't talk to each other any other time during the year but I just think Kevin how do you know it's my birthday I well there's a lot of different ways to know Facebook Instagram yeah but it's so sweet in the calendar people like that are so sweet yeah I just love like we have all you know every relationship fits in its different lane and just embracing it not fighting and trying to make a relationship something that it doesn't necessarily need to be yeah I'm gonna text him though and say thanks for always telling me happy birthday i like that i hope i don't fall off the list you know like i'd like to stay on that because i think i you know i think i would notice actually one year if you didn't i like that on this crazy on the topic of relationships fitting in lanes okay where i had an i had an interesting interaction on saturday okay so saturday was you had a girl's night and day and day i actually had a play date and then i had book club yeah we actually had solo days and so I went and watched it was raining so I ended up watching soccer and skipping out on golf and then after soccer I was like you know what I want to go home spend spend the evening with Bob's and put her to bed and then go to go to Jeffrey's and get a burger a solo burger we can walk it's walking distance from our house yeah I think it's the best burger in Austin it's a fancy burger so I think you can only have it like a couple times a year but it's a very very good burger it's a the bar there is very intimate and every time i go to jeffrey's i typically know someone like in the bar area but i've never been sat at the bar besides someone i know i get sat at the bar it's like 8 30 and guy puts his hand on my shoulder and it's a guy i know and a guy really really like on a date he's on a date like a new date i don't know i don't know him well enough to know oh like you know how you have those people that like you really like when you see them you have long conversations you have a lot in common but like the relation yeah we've never texted and juggling this dynamic of like how you handle it was the only seat at the bar available oh i was only available in the bar I wasn't going to give up my seat so it was just like it was a real social uh juggle a real social management situation so I think we collectively did really well I got right ahead and by the way I showed up I'm I'm wearing an outfit very similar to this and I showed up with a notepad because I was going to write take notes down and I was like hey guys like this I saw him I was super excited to see him i clocked that he was on a date i was like hey i'm very sorry that i'm i'm now doing this like the i'm here i'm here to do some work i'm here to hammer a burger please like do not let me invade this in any way and he's like well you are you're literally sitting beside me we did a very good like mutual like i wrote with my shoulder blocking him he turned good his back to me i I thought about pulling out my headphones and putting in the all-in pod.
8:56I didn't. Sometimes I do do that at the Jeffries Bar. But I stayed very focused. There was enough distance, enough noise. There was no overhearing conversation. Good. And then partway through, I got a little nervous. I was like, uh-oh, I don't want to now be rude. Luckily, after he ordered the bill, there was a closing. We had a nice little three to five-minute outro. Mm-hmm. uh spoke to the person he was with very lovely and then he went so i think it went as smooth as possible but like we both had to manage this like hiccup in the night yeah yeah i mean that is tough but that that's the thing about sitting at the and we're sitting like close well when you sit at the bar on a date you do run the risk of i guess somebody that you know sitting beside you but you also do it at those sometimes those tables get really tight i've never thought about that if you were on a date and like somebody you know what like one of your parents friends sits beside you.
9:53Like, the problem is at the tables, you're fine. You can't overhear. If we don't both angle accordingly, you could have over, there could be full overhearing. Harrison, at those tables in the bar at Jeffrey's and some restaurants, they're so close together, you're basically eating together. Yeah. He did a very good job, though. I got to give him a lot. And she did, it was, it went as smooth as it could have, but I'd like, Now you're bonded. I had 15 seconds of panic when I sat down. Of like. Because getting up would have been more awkward. Yeah. Right. You can't be like, you know what, I'm going to let you guys do this, so I'm going to go sit somewhere else.
10:25It takes a lot of strength not to eavesdrop. Totally. I totally agree. I would have listened the whole time, if I'm being honest. The only other awkward date story I can think of is... Do you want to know what I did? What? So, I'm not sure if you saw, but on Saturday, I sent a sub stack to you guys. Did you see that? Yes, I read it. What was it? Jules, did you see? Probably. Wow I saw it Weekends are for weekending Fuck Okay So in the sub stack I alluded to a part two Oh did you send it via email? Yeah Oh I definitely didn't see that Oh no I didn't see that I was writing I was writing the part two By hand Feel free to put those in text No because I didn't want to interrupt Most visibility So I had something to do And I didn't Here's why I didn't eavesdrop Because I know If situations are reversed And I was on a date it would drive me crazy if I even felt the inkling that they were eavesdropping.
11:24I totally agree. So I had to commit to the work, and I really respect this guy. Yeah, I think the way that it was all handled is fabulous and perfect. And now next time you see him, you guys can laugh. I'm excited for that moment. The only other awkward date that I can think of that I know of is I had a friend, and she went on, she was going on a first date. It was a bumble date. Or it was a hinge date. And she meets him there and they're like, she really likes him at first sight, blah, blah, blah. He goes to check in and the guy's like, I've got two reservations under this last name. His dad and his mom were also eating at the restaurant that night.
12:05And so on the first date, she met his parents. I don't hate that. I don't hate me either. I'm just saying that. You could have a lot of fun with it. But that to me is an awkward-ish, like, oh boy. Well, is it a red flag to not know where your parents are having dinner? Well, this was in New York City, so not at all. I think, like, people run around. Yeah, no. You guys know there's nothing I love more than online shopping. If I'm up in the middle of the night with Rocky, I don't like to scroll social media. But I do sometimes need something to do. And you know what? Sometimes that's shopping. I buy everything online from my workout sets to our couch.

Reminds, as you were talking about, it reminds me of the time I was catfished.
14:04What? Oh my gosh. He's talked about this. Oh, I actually kind of remember that. I think we put it in the title of the episode. Yeah, it was a riot date or it was some form of dating app date. And I showed up. It was just like inherently not the person in the photo. Like at all, right? Not even remotely. Yeah, I just, and I can't believe. So the Jay that we talked about for the Dicocondex. So a bunch of people, apparently Jay's a big Dicocondex guy. A bunch of people sent him that being like, but now I have another very good friend, Jay in New York. Okay. A lot of people know I'm friends with that, the other Jay.
14:43And Jay was like, did I say this? He's like, it sounds like something I'd say, but did I come up with that? I was like, no, Jay, that is not you. But the Jay that didn't send the Dicoke index, he called that it was a catfish. He was like, there's something wrong with this profile because she was messaging, like the way she was messaging the way the photos were he sniffed it out but then but then i thought sometimes with catfishing they just like don't show up on the date to send like someone that's not the person in the photos is just like obviously you're gonna be like what it depends oh i i feel like sometimes they go sometimes they don't oh did you watch that show yes that show well it was a doc it was a it was very loosely the person like i i watched the guy the football a player that got catfished.
15:35It's not like the person in the photos was like... Mante Teo? Yeah. That was... Wild. All time. Oh, I heard such a good conspiracy theory on that that I'm trying to pull in right now. Hold on. I want to do this. I want to go... Okay, so guys, also, if you're listening, subscribe. Please. Please subscribe. Thank you for listening. And we're going to do some Rocky updates, some Tate updates, and then we've got lots of just like fun little... Should we do World Cup beforehand? I want to do Watching Sports Might Be the ultimate dating litmus test. Okay, so do you want to do sports and kids or kids and sports?
16:05Sports and kids. Okay. I had a breakthrough of an observation while I was watching the England-Norweg game on Saturday. Which was what? I think I know why the U.S. isn't good at soccer. Why? Because diving is such a big part of soccer and diving is so against u.s sport culture like the u.s team is terrible at diving the argentinian team is unbelievable at diving when you grow up in sports if you dive and roll around and and cry and then get up and keep playing because like there's no penalty called like you get cut from the team like we don't tolerate that type of behavior it's very much a like play tough mindset versus soccer like you see these guys they go down they hold their ankles they scream scream they wait for the whistle if the whistle doesn't come they just hop right up like we gotta show some videos and you look at it like the argentinian team has has gotten a penalty shot penalty kick in every single game but one the u.s didn't get one penalty shot all tournament right so like it's actually part of the game that we aren't down with like flopping flopping flopping i don't understand diving diving flopping thank you and so do you think that soccer like people that play soccer only play soccer or as opposed like if you dive in football then like you that what do you think the crossover.
17:47If you're like that, we called that behavior growing up in sports being a crybaby. Like, you weren't allowed to do it. Like a flopper. You're a flopper. You'd get cut from teams. But what do you think about like, you know how Michael Jordan went and played baseball? Yes. What do you, what do you think the likelihood is that another athlete could play soccer? Do you think like, soccer lives in its own world? Well, soccer is very much a game of skill. As opposed to the other ones are a game of athleticism? They all, have athleticism. So I don't want to get nailed on that. But soccer leans more skill a la golf versus football and basketball lean more athleticism.
18:28So okay. So what you're saying is like you could take a basketball player and put him in football and he could do okay. Well there's a lot of basketball and football overlap. Right. College sports. But what you're saying is you couldn't There's not a lot of soccer and there's I'd go as far as saying there's probably zero soccer basketball overlap. There is some soccer lacrosse overlap, though. Right. Now, those two seem similar to me. Yeah, but could we put Tom Brady on the soccer field and have him score a goal? I don't know. But here is the bigger take. Okay? Flop, flop. I loved the World Cup.
19:03I loved it. I am so happy it's over. It's over? It's not over. It's over this week. You're going tomorrow. It's over Sunday. Harrison is going to the game tomorrow in Dallas. You've got to let me finish. You've got to let me go with this. soccer home stretch it is a place in my life once every four years I'm I'm I am really getting to the end and becoming done with it like the flopping the offsides the crazy the crazy var replay overrules the inherent wild bias like very excited for the last three games the bias is insane but we're done like we're done this game it's it's got too many things that don't work for me the the the diving or flopping whatever you want to call it that's number one it irks me too much we got to fix it we fixed it in hockey hockey we have very consistent diving penalties in in soccer they just make them up whenever they want them they had a crazy penalties it seems they had a crazy one in the switzerland game the off sides in soccer are just they kill the flow of the game they need to switch to the off this is how you fix soccer for you want america to love soccer here's the changes you implement strict penalties around flopping and diving okay the second is you switch the off sides to reflect the nature of hockey off sides okay which is you just need to have one part of your body on sides and the rest of your body can be off sides not the opposite way and then the third is you gotta kill replay review on penalties because it's it's puts way too much um it puts the potential for it puts the potential for referee bias to absolutely kill a game like what we saw in the Norway-England game.
21:00So what I was going to say... In football, you don't review for penalties. It opens up a can of worms. Yeah, because your first instinct is what the referees need to go off of. Maybe they missed an angle. But what's going on with the biases with soccer? FIFA is consistently accused of being a corrupt organization. Okay? Yeah. Which we see when they go back and review a play. Then we see a ref kind of... Argentina is consistently amongst the highest grossing viewed games, the highest ticket sales. Everyone wants to see Messi. So viewership is going to be a lot higher if Argentina advances versus Belgium versus Egypt versus, you know, whoever.
21:52So then the refs are biased towards Messi. Argentina is getting a lot of calls. All right. And it's less the in-call games that are killing me. It's like it's the stopping the game and reviewing these penalties. There's a penalty on every fucking play. Right. Like. Who is playing tomorrow? France, Spain. So that is Taylor Swift versus. The Kardashians. The Kardashians. That's a great game. Yeah. So you're going to go. Yeah. And are you going to like wear a jersey? you gonna go for a team no i i'm there for the experience not for the game i like i care just as much about what happens from the 11 to 2 o 'clock window before the game then i do what happens like during the game like i'm there for the people i've never been to uh it's at uh where the cowboys play i've never been to that apparently it's an unbelievable stadium it is it's one of the newer ones like it was the first of its kind when they did it didn't it wasn't it Yeah, I find a lot of these newer ones like it's a it's a newer one that apparently has been done right.
22:58There's a lot of newer ones, which is like like Levi's Stadium, which I love. But like, OK, well, that's in San Francisco. I think that's going to be I was going to watch it because Harrison's going with a bunch of guys. So all the girls of the guys I was going to watch it with. But then I realized that, too, just kind of in the middle of the day. Yeah. But if it was at seven, I don't think I would go. Really? Yeah. Why? Because we're leaving at 8 a.m. We're getting there at 11 a.m. We have three hours of pregame, then 2 o 'clock game, and then I'm going to come back that night. I'm going to get to wake Bubba up, see you before I go to bed and wake Bubba up in the morning.
23:32I think it's very exciting. Yeah. I'm excited for you. I'm very glad you're going. I think it's such a fun thing to do the middle of the week. And like the World Cup once every four years, and it's in your state, so you've got to go. I just got to get my final World Cup juice out of me. Okay. Jules is bored. Move on. All right. Watching sports might be the ultimate dating litmus test. Love this. Read this beforehand. Love it. But how do I read it? Like, I know you... You can click the arrows and go to the very end. So do you see the picture? Yeah. Okay, there's arrows on the right side. Now keep clicking to the very end.
24:01Oh, my God. Those are the red flags of sports watching. I always tried to go in. Oh, damn. See there? I did it. I did it. I went into the post. Abort. Notion. But see, even at the end of the post... The red flags. Did you see it? I'm too. Okay. red flags to watch out for ready can we set this up a little bit more can we what set this up a little bit okay yeah so so the article i think what we should say what the article says or the post says i think is different than what we want to talk about which is like the red flags of watching sports with a man so if you're if you're new to dating and your guy is doing this these the article calls this out as true red flags which i think we should go through versus is like the whole yeah there's kind of like this mushy pushy pipe which i didn't read all i thought about it was like you know how they say to go on a vacation with your partner and then you learn how they really are it's like this is like kind of the early stage of that it's more accessible yes so early early on i think if a guy okay early on in a relationship i think it's a really good idea to go watch a sports game with a guy that you're dating about a team that he cares about or vice versa.
25:13I also think if the guy is just like constantly talking about sports, then it's a bit interesting for you to clock because, you know, I love sports, right? We love sports. We're very into them. But they can't affect your mood afterwards because, like, you didn't play. But that's where we're going to get. It's not a direct reflection of anything you did. All right, here we go. Red flags to watch out for when dating somebody when it pertains to sports. Number one, their mood is negatively impacted by their team losing. Can you imagine? If you came upstairs and you were like, the USA lost the World Cup, I would be like, go back down there, get it together, and come back.
25:48What's the appropriate window that you can be either happy or mad following win or loss? Five minutes. I was going to say the same thing. Okay, I was going to say 15 minutes. No, five. Enough for a drink. You didn't play. I know, but like your team won, you have another drink. Or your team lost, you have another drink. No, like you didn't play. Yeah, but we're talking a five to 15 minute window. You were just cheering for other guys playing. I'm with you. I'm fully with you. I'm fully with you. Okay? Like, you can be mad at yourself for your marathon time. You can't be, like, throwing a fit over somebody else's.
26:22Yes. Okay. Yes. To the point, I think that is it. Is your success or happiness being dictated by another person's output? And that's what I love about this is, like, if you run a marathon and you want to run sub three and a half hours, and you do 340, I think that is something that you can be upset with yourself for. You can spend the day being mad. Day or two. Yeah. All right. Number two, they respond to their team winning or losing by binge drinking or excessively partying. Okay. Now this in college, I remember if OU won a game. Hold on. We have an important caveat. If OU won a game, we were very excited.
27:02But we have an important caveat. We're talking, this is behavior north of 30. I agree. Or north of 25? 27. Okay, north of 27. Because when I was 21, that was your day. Yeah, if OU won, we were so excited. I think you should rush to field, pay the fine, go to the bars. Now, if they lost, it definitely did not ruin my day. But your 14-year-old kid, when their team wins or loses, it'll be very exciting. Yes, and as it should be. okay there are pv's don't apply to you're exempt from these number three they are annoyed if you talk or ask questions during the game that's that's being way too intense if if a guy yeah i'm i'm with you like i'm completely with you on this if if a guy in general in any capacity of life is annoyed that you are talking during anything other than a movie at a movie theater i'll accept that that's the one time where i think you're like maybe let's talk afterwards i'm good with that otherwise i think i can talk to you at any time okay if you're on a meeting if you're in a meeting yes yeah i think it's very you're watching a movie you pause the movie it's very nice yeah well number four they make fun of you for not knowing the rules oh that's a massive red flag because what if also what a cute fun dating thing that they can teach you the rules yep opportunity they bet on sports in a risky way now i will be the first to say this i love your little 50 bets you do in the middle of the game and you tell us what the odds are i call them punts yes harrison does these little punts i'm all for that because it makes the game exciting and then we learn what the odds are but like if you're betting and and here's the thing harrison's rule with betting he always bets money he expects to lose I bet for fun not to make money totally so if he bets$50 he assumes he lost the$50 sometimes he gets you know 250 back and that's exciting but it's not expected so yeah I think if somebody's betting in a way that's risky no and like if they lose the bet they're like whole day in the next day's run that's not good yeah well the the odd when it comes to betting like the odds are inherently against you and so to go into something where you are like mathematically proven to lose more than you win it's it's a bad recipe to have your expectation be any other way and especially when you look at betting platforms and how much of the profits come from a very very small percentage of the users like i think that there was just an article that came out uh on calci where 0.1 of users were uh took on north of 60 percent of of winnings on on the platform and like typically i think it's somewhere between three to five percent of bettors end up winning uh or end up up on a year wow wow that's so that's such a small percentage yeah you got to bet for fun not for and what i mean by that is like the amount of people if you start with$100 in your account end up with more than 100 not lose the hundred but three to five percent end up with more than the hundred yeah that's not that many ninety five percent end up with something generally below the hundred is is the stat that someone's just telling me about it's very important to understand like I love it I love betting I love gambling but I think it's important to room to do it under with the right motivations yeah for fun where if you lose the bed it doesn't affect you at all this is like a bigger problem that we should talk about at a later point what betting for some people?
30:44Yeah, I think that there's definitely like a dark side of betting that is developing. Well, it's addictive. It's one of the things people, I mean, you can have a gambling addiction. You know, so there's also a dark side of drinking. There's also a dark side of lots of things that are addictive behavior, drugs. Parallel has genuinely been one of my favorite pregnancy and postpartum finds, you guys. OBGYN-founded, third-party tested, and a Clean Label Project Purity Award winner. What I love the most is that parallel changes as your pregnancy changes with separate packs for trying to conceive, egg freezing, first trimester, second trimester, third trimester, postpartum, and more.
31:24For example, in the first trimester, you get a premium prenatal and extra B6 and ginger for nausea support. In your third trimester, you get a premium prenatal and probiotics to support mom's gut health and baby's microbiome development. Then after baby arrives, they have a postnatal mom multi-support pack. And the best part, you just throw your daily packet right in your bag as you're walking out the door and can be confident you're getting what you need. So if you're pregnant, trying, or postpartum, you need to check out Parallel. I cannot recommend it enough, you guys. I just had them give me an exclusive code just for you.
32:02And so new customers can use code 2Parents and get 20 % off your first order at ParallelHealth.com slash 2Parents. That's P-E-R-E-L-E-L Health.com slash 2Parents. Okay. They refuse to show... This one's very important. They refuse to show any interest in sports, even if it's important to you. I do agree with this because this one's obviously the opposite side of the intense sports lover. You can't totally neglect sports. because like I mean you can but not if it's important to the person that you're dating like you got to be like okay yeah I'm interested what are we watching yeah it's just it's a really nice fun part of American culture and like most things I think it's all about having a healthy relationship with it it's like weird to care too much it's also weird to completely neglect it when the entire country is like getting excited about the nation's soccer team.
33:00Right. Like what? Yeah. If you don't give a shit about soccer. Fine. It's still fun to cheer on America's team. Yeah. Like the whole country. And listen, soccer got pretty simple at the end. Big US soccer fan. You watched it. I did watch it. But like it was good pop culture talk for the last two months. That's how I like to have my interest in sports. There was enough going on around it. Now we've got Taylor Swift's football team. You can at least watch people get into that. There is a pop culture element happening to all sports. Okay, for the NBA finals, I was really into Ben Stiller going. He just kept going.
33:37I thought that was really fun. And Jordan Woods' purse. Jordan Woods' purse, yes. Timothy and Kylie. Was that Jordan Woods' sneaky comeback onto the scene? Yeah, for sure. A bit. Is it Carl Anthony Towns? Is that the one? I think so, yeah. Yeah. because he was a guy that had a lot of shade towards him. She was a girl with a lot of shade towards him. And so that's what I mean, is you kind of had these two people that had the shade who have now... Is she back? Yeah. Her and Kylie were undoubtedly excited to see each other. Oh, wow. Yeah. Wow. I forgot about all of that. Yeah, I really did. Or as Winnie would say, wow.
34:17Wow. On the court afterwards, after the game, I don't remember if it was one in New York, But Timothy walked over, like dabbed up Karl-Anthony, and then gave Jordan a hug, right? Yeah. And Kylie did the exact same thing. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. I'm going to, I just want to get this on the record. I think that, you know, I actually saw a clip of Tristan Thompson talking about the way the Kardashian-Genders treat you if you're in their wheelhouse at all. Yeah. And he said it starts with Kris. Like there, if you are, you know, Tristan could kind of be viewed as like, dude, come on. Like you messed around on Chloe XYZ.
34:52But when his mom was really sick, Kim called him and was like, hey, take my jet. Go see your mom. Like I want to make sure you can get to her and I want you to get to her comfortably. Like take, you know. And he was saying it starts with Chris and how if you're in their web at all, but like you are really family. I think that's cool. Even if you're not. It's really cool. It is interesting, though, like the amount of bullshit that they are prepared to accept. Like, where is their line? It just feels like it doesn't matter, like, what anyone does to anyone. Like, it's all. Oh, I see. Yeah. Like, they take a lot of trash from their partners.
35:35Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's correct. like you always want to you know be nice and be warm and be welcoming but it's just like at what point do you draw the line and stand up for yourself well maybe maybe chloe did stand up for herself by saying tristan get out but also you're the father of my kids so we're gonna treat you nice yeah i just know not the problem is this is a great example me not knowing enough about any of the situations other than it seems like that like there's a crazy amount of cheating that goes on and a lot of different baby daddies yeah but i do think the way that they treat them in the way that they stay a family is cool.
36:08For sure. For the sake of the kids. Yeah, for the sake of the kids. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. There's not a lot of petty happening. You know, I do think Kanye is out. Not a lot of petty happening in the open. He's got the boot. Has he? So then they have you on the line. Yeah. Okay, that's good. Come on. This is me talking about something I don't know. Tristan was on Chloe's podcast kind of recently, and they just talked about all the boundaries that they have. It's really interesting. They're very open about it. But like she if he wanted to stay in their kid's life, he had to get a vasectomy. And they talked about it on the pod.
36:40Like, that's a boundary. I thought that was cool. She wasn't going to have it. That is a phenomenal boundary. It's like, OK. She said you could get with whoever you want. But like, I don't we don't need more children running around. That is a power move. Yeah. No, I'm telling you, you pay close enough attention. Does he have any other kids? Yeah, he has a bunch of other kids. I don't want to say a bunch, but he has a handful of other kids, I believe. did you see nick cannon clip he stitched somebody talking about him and she was like uh oh it was hannah burner she was like nick cannon you know he's got 11 baby mamas he's like 12 it was so funny and i didn't watch the rest of the clip but i thought his 12 was really funny he was just a little correction the other thing that we've never talked about on here that i think i've put on programming a couple times is like they also had embryos on ice and he signed over the rights to the embryos to her and like that's apparently like the newest thing in prenups and in divorces is who's getting the rights to the embryos it's really interesting yes because in the show that kim's the lawyer in what's that show um and remind me the embryo is the fertilized is the fertilized egg and sperm correct yes so if she so she could in theory so she could have another kid he would be the father from a dna perspective but when it comes to actual day-to-day like upbringing she is the mom and he has no responsibility he has no parental rights parental rights thank you um all's fair is the name yes all's fair they they had this embryo um kind of war happening yeah apparently it's just like the newest i don't know what element to divorce and prenups as well and you know it's very interesting because Because we didn't used to have them, but they're one of the most significant properties, probably.
38:36So that's crazy. So she could have another kid. He would biologically be the dad, but he has no parental rights. Correct. But they clearly have a good enough relationship where he's coming on the pod. Yeah. He can come by if he wants, it appears. I just think it's interesting outside of them. Yeah. Yeah. You know what? I will do everything in my human power to keep this unit happy and together. What, are you family in it? Yeah. Same. That's when I hear about co-parenting. It's like I understand it happens a lot. People do a really good job at it. People do it really well, but I want to put as much humanly love and energy and effort into us not going down that path.
39:23And that's why we talk a lot about our priorities and what's important to us. Just so everyone knows, a lot of internal conversations we have. Also, we have the moments where Harrison says, talk to me about Europe. And I say, okay, we're going to go next summer. And he's like, or we could do Paris in August. And I'm like, no, we can't. That's a day in my life. Apparently there's a direct flight now. Don't tell us that. That's what all the commenters are telling me. well we cannot go the hack I figured out oh but Tayden Paris would be cute but I figured out a bit of a hack on how to get there best how we gotta connect in New York connecting in New York makes life 20 times easier Bubba does not want to be on a plane for this long she just doesn't she really doesn't but I would really have fun unpacking her for her Paris outfit.
40:21Bubber in Paris? She could go on the boat. We could teach her Eiffel Tower. She would love the Eiffel Tower. Oh, I have a thing that you did to me that I did to you that I don't know if I ever told you. What, you've never been to the Eiffel Tower? No. Remember how you went to the museum? I went outside. You went to the Louvre. You took a photo of it. No, not the Louvre. The other one. The Pompidou. The Pompidou? The Pompidou. Okay. Well, you know that boat tour I told you to go on? Yes. Yeah, I never went on that. Wow. Yeah, that was a recommendation from Amber. Well, I don't know who Amber is, but.
Read the full transcript
40:56Yes, you do. Okay. Vishal and Amber. Oh, yeah, I love her. I actually don't know if I ever told you this. She wrote the itinerary. I wrote it and she proved it. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. I did not know. I love learning things like this. Okay, fun. So what did she tweak? Because that boat tour was. Well, the boat. She added the boat. It was the best thing we did. It was awesome. She added the boat. And I assume maybe one other thing. It was awesome. Yeah. The boat. I just, I didn't love the hotel you sent me to. Also have never been to that hotel. What hotel did I send you to? Costas or something? Oh, that was me.
41:35I love that hotel. You don't like Hotel Cost? C-O-S-T-E-S. Maybe you could take me and show me? I think that's my favorite hotel in the world. Okay. Then I missed something. because you and I typically have similar... It is such a vibe. That's where I want to stay. Okay, well, then we'll stay there. We typically have similar hotel taste, but I was very like, what? Okay, no, that was 100 % my suggestion. Okay. But I think she may have suggested a different hotel for drinks. It may have been the Ritz or something that was on there that people love. I love this one. I just wandered into it. I loved it.
42:09I don't know what it's called. There's this main one. There's like right off the... anyways Bubber and Paris on the boat she would love it look at her outfits we could get her a little hat she would love it she could have bread everywhere and oh my gosh what's her favorite food right now croissant every morning I want croissant she wouldn't I mean the sweetest chill ones are good but a Paris croissant wow okay let's talk about the meme I just think it's really cute it's not even a meme but there's this photo of England winning and you've got the Beckham's just like up like this roaring and then you've got posh spice just on her phone did you read the comments they were so good here I didn't read the comments here's what I love about this photo is there's multiple angles of it so it's not like there was like a delayed reaction like They were celebrating and she didn't give a fuck.
43:16Here's the best two comments. You ready? Yeah. Number one, she didn't get cast as Sporty Spice. Loved it. But I love that her name is Posh Spice. Yeah, she's posh. She doesn't need to get up and cheer. And number two, this is her husband's office. And I don't get excited when my husband takes me to his office. That's phenomenal. Yeah, somebody was like, I mean, my husband's a lawyer. I couldn't be bothered whenever we go there. And that's her. Like she has sat through so many of these soccer games. She's there. I love that. She Instagrammed. I'm so for this. Now I want England to win for her. Yeah.
43:48I think England winning is probably the most fun. Well, okay, guys, remember Harrison called them Pete Davidson. I called them the Pete Davidson of the tournament. Always in the news, but you never know why. So this is like the equivalent of Pete Davidson putting together an Oscar level worthy performance. Up against Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift. I mean, okay, bad examples because they won't win Oscars, but you get the gist. And Argentina's, I don't know if I gave Argentina a name, but I would say they're LeBron James. Where it's like... They're the most athletic? Well, they're the best of all time, but they're old, and everyone was thinking they're probably over the hump.
44:23And then it's like, wait, what? Maybe they're not. And the same way that LeBron very well next year could come back and lead his team to the finals. It's very surprising that Messi's going on the run that he's going on. But thankful he has the support of the referees in FIFA. Isn't LeBron coming back to Cleveland? Did I make that up? They don't know where he's going yet. Do you remember the Hoosier, I'm coming home, Hoosier? I'm coming. That commercial. Hoosier? Hoosier. Yeah. And he was in his high school. I don't think it's Hoosier. I don't think it's Hoosier either. It's not Hoosier for sure.
44:54I will die on this hill that the commercial was sung by Hoosier. I don't think it was I'm coming home. but the commercial for sure I'm Coming Home is not hoser. Yeah, that's not hoser but the song was hoser. Do you know that hoser is a Canadian slang word? I think it's like a you fucking hoser. Like that's a thing. Well, no, that's It's like you're like a Spelled differently. You're a duster. You fucking hoser. Yeah, well you've said the F word a lot on this episode today. We've got to bleep all those because it'll suppress us. No, I mark it as includes adult language. It doesn't need to suppress us.
45:28That is adult language. All in beeps there, F words. So I think we should be bars we don't have to do everything all in does no, but I think that that in the first 10 minutes I'm like aware of this. Okay. Hold on. What's the song? Being smarter than me LeBron James I'm coming home commercial Cleveland hoser song 2014 I like remember this all vividly Um all this commercial see down It was iconic
46:00It says Coming Home by Diddy? No. Yeah, Diddy's the one I'm talking about, but there's someone else. I don't have my phone. Harrison's obviously taking a moment to be on his phone. Yeah, well. There was, it was the LeBron James commercial. He was Coming Back Home, and there was a Hoser song. You sure it's not Hosier? They were in a Beats by Dre commercial together? No. Take Me to Church? Yep. Take Me to Church. Huh. Nope, maybe I made it up. No, no. This is a Beats by Dre commercial with LeBron and Hosier. Take Me to Church. Oh, okay, yeah. And it keeps cutting to Hosier and he's singing. It was really good.
46:41It was really good. You guys, it's summer and here in Texas, you know that means it is hot, hot, hot outside. The best summer pieces are the ones you end up wearing on repeat. 47:51That's quince.com slash Alex for free shipping and 365 day returns. Quince.com slash Alex. All right, let's see. What else? Let's do some kid updates. And then we're going to do the, there's this trend on TikTok right now going on and it's like five things that are worth the money. The only one I've seen is Hannah Chody's Which I guess now we just talk about her all the time on here And it was good It's everywhere It's just like five things that are worth it but no explanation Yeah she gave no explanation What were her five I forget There was one of them that I wanted to get though I was like it's good to know That made your top five She's a tastemaker that gal Okay Oh but she missed out on doing Franxx Gotta tell her that because that's worth the money.
48:42All right. It is. So what's going on with Tate and Rocky? Rocky, you guys, gosh, he's just edible. Very nice boy. He's such a nice boy. He looks so cute in his yellow. He's wearing yellow today. He's sleeping. He's starting to do five, six-hour stretches, and he's gone up to six ounces of milk, which is so crazy because now I make six ounces of milk. It's like your body knows. It's so wild. The body is so wild. um yeah i think like one of my big observations three months in and hopefully we can like pull the the the time the receipts on us talking about tate is i think very early on we talked about how tate was very particular rocky the opposite rocky's very chill like rocky can be put in a multitude magnitude of positions like he doesn't need to swallow a certain way sometimes he can be swaddled other times not like he he's very go with the flow tate is very like very likes it a certain way to the point like she looks at her grapes and chooses what grapes she eats particular gal and like if i put like she she it's she's very very specific do you remember when we used to try to record with tate she when she was one month old up until five or six months old we were like p you're gonna have to go take her you're gonna have to bounce her we would stop the recording blah blah rocky could absolutely come to every recording and just sit right there yeah and he so that's that's actually a really big difference is we would try tating all these different like we try in the bouncer we try her in the doctor put him in the bouncer loves it put him on the couch loves it tate though she is so obsessed she wakes up rocky rocky rocky she goes she get like i okay i'll say this if you're pregnant with number two or you just had number two and you're like one or two weeks in i was very i was so worried and i was like there's no way this is going to go great maybe she'll feel indifferent about rocky maybe she'll kind of like rocky she doesn't want to go anywhere without rocky like she loves her brother so much i i do need to push back on this a little bit okay that's great because i agree she loves him so much she also does love one-on-one time but that's why i think to say to say that she doesn't want to do anything without Rocky like I don't I don't think that's fully fair so I think that's actually a really good point and now that you're saying that I think it's actually why she's able to love Rocky so much but we don't ever so she doesn't even recognize she's having one-on-one time you just take her sometimes and take her just her to the coffee shop yeah so we really try to give like all day Saturday it was just Tate and I like we really tried to give her a lot of mom and dad one-on-one time or single mom or just mom or just dad one-on-one time so whenever Rocky is there she is obsessed like she's very obsessed.
51:35And like when we're at home and she's playing I've noticed like if she's had her like let's say we go to the coffee shop we come back you're hanging out with Rocky like and she'll go and she'll play in the kitchen she'll like run over give him a hug give him a kiss put his BB in and then like run back. So I think that yeah I agree with everything you're saying I would just caveat like that I do think she does the one on one time is very good for her. Yeah she might get very annoyed with him if he was always always it was always the four of us but yeah when we go to outings to dinner and when we do anything like that she really like wants to push rocky she wants rocky to come you know the other day she put on shoes then she was trying to make rocky put on shoes and he just like he can't it's so cute his little feet like can't even stand good boy he's such a good so anyways it's going quite cute um interactions are good he's just you never know what kind of baby you're gonna get and we just got lucky you're very very lucky he's a he's a chill one um and he's looking less like tate don't you think no view i thought he was identical to her he's starting to skew a little more me i think um i think both of our kids look like you i think both of our kids are more like fairer in nature she has your face though i don't see it but everyone says it yeah like everyone says that she's a copy and paste of you bubber she's hilarious yeah she looks just like you i do think rocky looks like alex i think it's the eyes me too i think he's gonna look like me good boy my little rocket man we call him rocket man i always sing rocket man to him h let's just put that phone right there we go we're doing so good take it over the finish line And Bubber's big on that.
53:18So she started climbing on things. Oh, big climbing week. She can get in her high chair. She can get up on the counter. She's like a little spider. So that's been, it's cute to watch. You got to watch her 24-7. And she's picked up on, I would say we've had a new, like, some, like, no, no, all done with that. Like, she can make some sentences, which is new. And she knows what she wants. We let her pick her food. We're big on options. I officially want to put a rock climbing wall in the house in some way. She'd love it. She would. We wanted to do a rock climbing wall back when she was like six months old.
53:55And we were like, this makes no sense. But now it would make sense and she would love it. Yeah.
54:03All right. I had a girls night. I. Oh, can I do this? Can I talk about like some influencer brand things happening that are like my friends? Sure. Can I do that for a minute? I think it's cool. Number one, I posted this on my story, Evlo, which Dr. Shannon is one of my best friends. She has this app, and it's got a postpartum. It's got all these workout classes, but it also has a postpartum program, and she's doing a free month today and tomorrow. If you sign up today or tomorrow. Yeah, today or tomorrow. You don't even need to code. You just go to the website and sign up. Number two, I'm wearing this set, and it's called Pajama Day, and that launches.
54:44I can't remember. Google Pajama Day. Who's this from? These are Julia Montgomery, a.k.a. Jules, as I call her. And then, hey, are you listening?
54:57Come on. These are, my friend Julia Montgomery did these, Jules. It's very nice. Yeah, these are awesome. There's also like a pant version. And then the last - Is the men's? No. Darn. Well, maybe. Maybe the men. I need some men's. I need some new clothes. Do you know, though, she offered me red or blue as my options, and I pick, guys, I'm not allowed to wear blue anymore, and so I'm buying a lot of red and pinks and oranges. And then the last thing is Anadea, my friend Olivia. Tomorrow it launches, and it's like non-toxic, vegan, acne-prone skin, very good for it. I'm wearing the blush right now, and so that launches tomorrow.
55:38So my friends are, like, doing really cool things. I'm very excited about it. As Shills would say. Oh, yeah. We're going to do the eat symbol. Lover started to do this. Okay. I would like to. I think we're good. What? Harrison, just with the arbitrary. We're good. I kind of thought our episodes should be an hour. Hold on. I like this one. Okay. Europe is investigating meta and Instagram apps because it thinks they're addictive. Yeah. It's really, really, really smart. So what are they doing? Yeah, I put this in in the docket. The EU has launched an investigation into the addictiveness of Facebook and Meta's apps, and they are waiting on their proposal on how to make them less addictive.
56:25I think some of the suggested practices would be disabling the autoplay on videos, putting time limits, encouraging less addictive videos in nature. Yeah, I think like I love an open free market, but I also believe in the right government intervention. And I think when it comes to social media, we need it because of how powerful these algorithms can be and the effects they have on children, on adults, on mental health. And I'm very excited to see how this plays out. And I think it's a great initiative by the EU. And hopefully like they don't overshoot and they, they land in the right place. And then will we adopt this?
57:12Like, let's say they do screen time breaks or cause isn't, is there a way when you're scrolling Instagram, let's say you've been on there for 10 minutes, it pops up and it says you have to take a two minute break. That's one of the potential, one of the potential suggestions. I think honestly, I think that would be great. Yeah. Yep. No doom scrolling. And then, um,
57:34well, I think of what you're seeing, is like they're starting to be susceptible to several different class action lawsuits where they're getting sued around the consequences of this addictiveness or the results of this addictive of the addictiveness. And so ultimately like money is the core driver of so many of these organizations. And so like if they realize, oh shit, we're just going to keep getting sued, then they'll put these practices in. Similar to the age, the age enforcements. Okay. The EU does a lot right, the EU does a lot wrong. But will, oh. The EU government can really overstep at times too.
58:14Oh, okay. But will the USA then be like, okay, we're going to do that too or no? Well, hopefully they bring them to the US. So if we're on Instagram in Paris when we go in August, we'll, and let's say that these were in action right now, you scroll 10 minutes you take a two minute break would that hit our phone or no because our phones are i i actually don't know because sometimes the local laws don't apply to visitors so like if you look at china when you go to china everyone's like you can't use facebook in china you can't use whatsapp in china you can't use instagram in china they actually let when you're there visiting most of the apps or a lot of the apps they'll let you use very for a very short amount of time so as long as you're there for under a week the apps will stay active but then once you're there for over that week they'll shut them off okay that's that's very interesting yeah or they and then they won't apply like on the local they won't work on like the local phone plan or the local wi-fi probably yeah yeah you should be like um what's it called so they may they may grant a certain amount of megs that you can you can use is that a megabyte megs okay um and then like that terminology megs i liked it mega bear all right netflix is going to bring back cable netflix getting into the cable game reportedly looking into always on channels so my question about this is is it gonna be like a show airs and then you can never get it again I assume they'll keep them backlogged so you can rewatch.
59:48But the point being is Netflix is starting to become a lot more like traditional TV was 10 years ago. So instead of choosing a specific show, subscribers could simply tune into channels dedicated to genres, franchises, or themes. That's actually really cool. It's cable. It's literally cable TV. True. but like I feel like this I'd love to see the math on what cable TV costed 10 15 years ago versus what it is today because like there was so much complaining then about like the bundling that was going on between all these different providers and how expensive it was and today if you want to be plugged into all them like it is crazy like between YouTube TV Paramount HBO like they're just Hulu just never ends.
1:00:45Okay, I want to do what we didn't do. This is the last thing we're going to do. Hello, say do again. Okay, the five things that are worth the money, we're going to do the parenting edition. Okay.
1:00:58So we're not going to say you need to buy all five of these, but it's just what we think is worth the money. I think a night nurse is worth the money. Absolutely. Very expensive, but getting that support through the night is huge in the early days. The trend is no explanation. Okay. Thank you, Jules. Night nurse. Duna.
1:01:23Snoo.
1:01:30The next, you go. buying a seat for your kid when they're over 18 months old because they're not buying an airplane seat yes sorry an airplane seat okay and the last one um
1:01:56do you have any notes there no but i have a funny one i'm just thinking about how to say it okay with no explanation did we not have five written down mom's spa day of course you deserve it no explanation I'm not explaining it I'm saying I'm replying to it the last one you wrote down was solely which I have a question about because I had them this weekend for the first time how did they taste like gummies I had the mango little bites yes is there something in there that makes it like a gummy that they don't have to put in ingredients like do you know what i'm saying so no it's very high in sugar content that's the problem with it because fruit because dried sticky fruit is high in sugar content but it doesn't like it doesn't it's so good these solely gummy things but they don't taste that i love dried mango i eat dried mango all the time they don't taste like dried mango they taste like a gummy that tastes like mango so how did they get like how is it that way when there's only one ingredient i'll look at it but i gotta taste it i it's funny it's embarrassing to say i gave a little pack of them to bubber last night and this morning when i went down i was making my eggs actually when i was done making my eggs i noticed one on the ground and i ate it and it was so good i was like oh i'm gonna throw this out no not you honey um yeah the last one i think blueberries like berries berries berries um i do have a question i have a bicker of the week yeah if you use the last egg something that everyone in the household loves to eat should you announce it to the grocery shopping partner 100 and what i did this morning just so we're very clear is there was six eggs left you ate six eggs No, I didn't eat six eggs.
1:03:55I normally have four because you normally like two. And I was like, you know what? She may want three today. So I'm only going to have three eggs. And I saved you three eggs. Where'd you put them? They're in the box. The box is gone. No, it's on the side of the fridge. What? I turned it. Instead of going like this, I turned it like that. Takes up less space. Where? It's in the second drawer, far right. Oh, yeah, I didn't see that. And I went in to make eggs today and I settled for cereal. I saved you three. Thank you. Yeah. I'm going to get us more eggs though. I did a bad grocery store run, so I got to like go back and get all these things.
1:04:30Yeah. I don't know what's wrong with me. Like why do I not just look in the fridge? I just try to go off my head. Like I'm out of my protein shakes. Like really botched it. All right, guys. That's it. We've done it for the day. Thank you for listening. Happy Monday. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Monday!!! Harrison is officially DONE with the World Cup (despite going to the game tomorrow AND talking about it for like 20 minutes on this ep lol). BUT this leads to a fun discussion: is watching sports with someone you're dating the new "turbulence test"?! We run through the RED FLAGS of watching sports with a guy — is his day being made or ruined by other men playing a game he's not in?! 🚩
But first: we broke our own rule and started the pod talking about the weather lol, that one guy who wishes you happy birthday every single year (s/o Kevin Williams!!!), funny date stories (Harrison ends up beside a friend ON A DATE at the bar, getting catfished, and the girl who met her Hinge date's parents on the first date??), the way the Kardashians stay close with their exes despite the drama, and Bubber in Paris?! (an August pipe dream).
We also give updates on how everything is going with 2 under 2 (spoiler alert: Tate is still obsessed with Rocky). Then we hop on the TikTok trend everyone's been doing: 5 things worth the money — no explanation given. Parenting edition!! Night nurse, Doona, SNOO, extra airline seat after 18 months & Solely fruit gummies :)
To wrap it up with some internet things: Meta is officially being investigated by the EU for their "addictive design" (they want autoplay disabled, screen time breaks & less engagement-based algorithms — could this come to the US?!), Netflix is officially bringing back cable, and a bicker on whether you have to announce it if you use the last egg.
LOVE YOU GUYS!
