In short
This episode of Two Parents and a Podcast covers: toddler sharing strategies; Mother’s Day and Father’s Day plans; springtime parenting routines for “two under two”; plus a rapid-fire set of pop-culture and news takes (Waymo recalls, dog strollers, “dad bod” science, Calci prediction markets, Kill Tony ticketing/lottery, and a Poland tax tweet).
Key claims
forced sharing is ineffective because toddlers don’t understand “sharing” as adults do; instead, use “take turns” and model give-and-take. They also argue parenting works best when you demonstrate the behavior (e.g., brushing teeth together with two toothbrushes).
Notable examples
the cucumber/knife scenario and the waiter demanding steak/eggs mid-meal; Tate bringing “Rocky” items and saying “pretty”/“waffle.”
Guests
no named guests appear; the hosts are the main speakers (Harrison/Jules/Alex mentioned), plus “Rocky Bears” is their baby, not a guest.

1:34Not me. Okay. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents and a Podcast. We are so excited to be in the studio today. We've got Rocky Bears here. We've timed it. He just ate. And then he had his wake window and now he's asleep. I pulled a U at the coffee shop today. Have we talked about what coffee shop orders are okay versus not okay? Did we ever do that? No. Okay. So I was a hater. You were. I was a hater. I previously operated under the regime that you couldn't edit your coffee order. Meaning you had to get a standard cappuccino. You're getting a cappuccino, a latte. The only edits that I thought were acceptable were a splash of or an extra shot of.
2:19Okay. Today I did an Alex edit. Which is what? What did you do? Well, do you want to explain what you would normally do? and I would think that I thought it was a faux pas. Is faux pas the word? No. Yeah. I thought it was a faux pas. But faux pas is not the right word. It's not the right word in this sentence. I thought your coffee order was a faux pas. Faux pas means the behavior was a faux pas. A bad thing, a fumble. No. Fake. I thought faux pas meant fake. It's a great word. It's a great word. Embracing, an embarrassing or tactless act or remark in a social situation. Correct. Correct. Actually phenomenally useless.
3:02Yeah, tactless. Okay. So this is what I always order. I always say, hi. May I please, and I do say please because I know Harrison has noticed my manners are spectacular. May I please get a almond milk latte, half water, half milk. So what they have to do, the barista has to steam together water and milk. I like to cut down the milk because otherwise it's just so overwhelming to my palate. So today I I became you. What'd you get? A little of a different thinking. So I'd normally get a cappuccino, but I noticed I drink the cappuccinos too fast. And I love sitting there with Bubber. Bubber tried her first croissant today.
3:43Croissant? Croissant. That's how you say it, right? Yeah. And I knew that, like, she got up a little early, and I knew we'd have a good kind of 30, 40 minutes to hang out at the coffee shop, and I didn't want to rush through my cappuccino, but I didn't want as much milk and a latte. so I did a latte half whole milk half water and phenomenal right but phenomenal because I got the extra liquid what do you mean extra liquid it's phenomenal it's better than a whole milk a latte has more it's the same amount of coffee but the the cup is bigger more sipping yeah and I didn't want to I didn't want to rush well why didn't you just get all whole milk because that's just too much milk I completely agree and when I'm not pregnant I'm lactose intolerant so we have decided I'm officially for real lactose intolerant which Harrison now knows I admit wrong I have a really sensitive stomach I admit wrong so I saw this video of a guy talking about just speaking of of these coffee orders I saw a guy say I'm a waiter and these are the top three just most annoying I want you to get out of my restaurant things you can do number one order a hot water and lemon which like I love to do.
4:57Okay, that feels like a very okay thing to do. He's just like, well, because I think it's free. So it's just like something he has to go and get and then they don't charge you for. You gotta charge for it. You can't, that's a chargeable item. No, it's not. Hot water and lemon you don't charge for? How much would you charge for that? How much do you charge for tea? To me, it's tea. It's not tea, it's just hot water. It's just water heated up. You can't do that to the restaurant. Charging for cold water with lemon? Correct. Great question. do they charge for the table water no great point okay let me sit on this okay and then he said just so annoying if you want a decaf espresso shot at the end of your meal what's the point which i fully agree with what is the point some people like the taste of digestion digestion i don't know like i get it if you want an espresso shot you would like some caffeine because you're going to go do something else but decaf and i can't remember the third sorry i wish i could i tried so hard to remember it so i would love to know if this is an annoying order at restaurants because i do this at every single restaurant and i highly recommend it fries extra crispy getting your fries extra crispy you will never regret it well half the time they do it the other half i think the waiter says absolutely and doesn't turn it in yes but for the half that i Get them extra crispy.
6:15So good. So good. Like the well, best steak and eggs in town. It's my most frequented restaurant in Austin. Me as well. Me as well. It's just, it's the perfect balance between clean ingredients, good tasting food. I'm probably doing steak and eggs somewhere between three to five times a week. Best protein pancakes in the nation. The protein pancakes are so good. They're unbelievable. And they're vegan. They're unbelievable. Unbelievable. Like I don't know what to do with myself. 32 grams of protein from that late kid. It's so good. And they think about all of the details. Wait, hold on. Will you please tell us what we're talking about today so we can understand what to expect throughout the episode?
6:55Yeah, I kind of thought you and Jules programmed yesterday. What did I ask you last night before you went to bed?
7:05I'm pulling up the program. The iPad's there and open. I actually have the coffee order in here. The first IRL topic, which you're going to be very excited about because it's been top of mind for you is toddler sharing. Okay. Okay. Then we're going to get in some learning with bubs. Okay. And then we're going to talk about, but before that, we're going to talk about Mother's Day and Father's Day. Okay. Little World Cup update. Okay. And then we'll keep things humming, but we got a lot more things. And I, at the beginning, I want to talk about how we're doing with two under two. like we need to do just an update yeah and and yes okay i would say we're you know and every time you say this this is when it you know shifts the other way but we're in a routine i would say we've got it down to the routine has begun things are manageable in the household we've got tate puts rocky to bed you know quote unquote fake puts him to bed and then tate goes to bed and like everything's going really well have we talked about that yes she's putting rocky to bed button and pushing the button and now she steps on the lamp thing because it turns the light on and off like she's got a whole thing going on I will say this Tate and I'm very proud of her for this she loves him more than in my head I thought she was going to be able to at this age this early on she doesn't want to be without him she wants to cover him up with a blanket if she sees me cover him up with the blanket she wants to put his passy in his mouth bring him his milk she knows his burp cloths rocky rocky she says and so she takes him his birth burp cloth like i didn't think she was going to understand what it was like to have a brother this early and she doesn't want to go anywhere if he's not coming yeah the the biggest example that jim said to me that surprises me every single morning is the first thing she says when she gets out of bed rocky rocky rocky but she gets out of bed and and he is just top of mind and she wants to beeline it right into his room and just look at him she wants to change her diaper actually now you change her diaper in his room a lot because when you take her to her room she starts saying rocky so she changes her diaper in rocky's room yeah yeah so i i haven't seen tate as much lately since when she's at the nanny share she's at the neighbors but every time you post a video and tate says like a word i've never heard her say before i get shocked her saying pretty i was like what the heck she is She loves to talk.
9:32She's really big into, so she can't say, she can say, I love you. She can't say like sentences yet, right? So putting together words will come soon. But it's pretty incredible watching her brain right now. Waffle, when she really wants a waffle. So in the morning, you know, it's like, what do you want to eat? She's a waffle. And then she eats like three waffles because she really wants them. And she knows who lives at what house on our street. Like it's so cute to watch their brain start to piece things together. And this is when, uh, the doctor said that their, um, their vocabulary just. Explodes.
10:12That was the word. Explodes at an accelerating rate. But what we have to remember is she, but she, like I asked her yesterday, I said, Hey, can you hand me that mama's book? So she, and she did, she picked up my book and she handed it to me. She can understand a lot. she can't say can you hand me mom's book but she gets it so it's pretty it's really just really cute to watch right now i totally agree i do want to move on because it's turning into a bit of a tater brag session which we can't have we cannot have as much as we love her and we're proud of her when you're hiring you want someone who is not only qualified but also genuinely interested in doing the job that you are hiring for which is where zip recruiter comes in you guys if you're hiring, you want a candidate who's passionate about your role, but you can't get that insight from a resume unless you post your job on ZipRecruiter.

12:52So let's talk Mother's Day, and let's talk Father's Day. Okay, well, I had a great Mother's Day. Just like a fabulous, very fun Mother's Day. And we did everything I wanted. And it started out, we went to the coffee shop, the four of us. And that was the best part of my day. Because I love the weekends when it's the four of us, and we're in no rush to do anything. We just all get our copies. Tate gets her fruit and we just like sit there and hang out. So we did that. And then we went and got my protein pancakes from the well. And then we came home for nap time and everyone fell asleep. And the house was just peaceful.
13:29It was so nice. And then we went to the mall because as we know, I wanted to buy my present IRL. And we just had a blast doing that. There's a new Cartier store here in Austin that opened up three days ago. We went in, we were a bowl and a china shop, our family. Rocky was, I think he threw up on me twice. And these, and I mentioned that the store is new because everything in there is new. And he just threw up right over my shoulder onto the chair. And I was like, Oh my God, are they going to kick us out? Tate, they had a coloring book. They have a Cartier coloring book. So she was able to color.
14:04We had a girl named Tiffany that works there. She's four kids. She said they, they do a test on the workers before you start. and they rank you from most patient to least patient. And of everyone in the store, she ranked the furthest on the scale of most patient. And she said she thinks it's because she has four kids. So she was like, I'm the perfect person for you guys to have. She took us to a back room. She was amazing. After like 10 minutes above her running around the store. I'm just imagining. It was out of a movie. They're like, these four come in and then we're going to send Tiffany over because she's the most patient.
14:40This guy had our number. He was like, okay, whenever Tiffany's free, you're right Jules it wasn't by accident and she took us to this back room she was like okay the room's available we can go back there now um Bubba was like you know wanted water and then they bring they bring out her water in a Cartier china glass and I was like oh she can't hold that and they're like that's all we have and I'm like okay well we'll work on it so it was just really fun but people on Instagram were really funny because they were like what were you wearing and I was like oh oh, I'm sorry, my prom dress doesn't fit right now.
15:11Like, I was just wearing the usual. And I don't think anybody in there cared what we wore. I don't know, we had a blast. They could have been nicer. It was out of a movie, the whole scene. It was mayhem. But I had a perfect Mother's Day, so thank you, H. What do you want to talk about for Father's Day? Do you want to hear my Father's Day request? Yeah, I think I know it. What is it? Do an activity. Do an event. Like, go to a concert. Nothing. 100%. That is my Father's Day request. Well, I'm not going to do nothing. No gift. 100 % no gift. Okay, and I'm definitely going to get you a gift. No, 100%.
15:47Please, please, please no gift. Okay. And then dinner at, I'd love to go get the burger at Jefferies for dinner. Okay. That's it. Jefferies is a nicer spot in Austin. So this is my question to you. Kids or no kids for that dinner? Kids. Yeah, they don't. That's the problem. that's the problem they don't want to go so let's do that other burger joint by our house that's more kid-friendly i just want a good burger and fries okay well we can make the burger and fries happen um what's what's the place by better half pool burger pool you know i would love pool burger father's day love it you meant hold out i meant hold up brewery but pool burger is where we would go because that to me is the best burger in austin yeah yeah not close so that's my request is is no no physical gift okay just wake up normal Sunday and then finish off the day with uh with a burger okay I think we're gonna do a little more than that but please don't please save your energy but it's fun for like I love Father's Day okay so as long as whatever you're doing is for you and not for me I'm good with it well it's for both of us but it's mainly for like what that feels like a pretzel put my brain in a pretzel well that feels like a good transition speaking of pretzels can we talk about dogs and strollers jules do you have a dog stroller no what's going on i'm seeing them everywhere yeah they're everywhere i'm seeing them everywhere what's the verdict on dogs and strollers i mean i'm not the first i'm not the dog owner to ask like i'm never putting my dog in a stroller have you are you been seeing these?
17:30I have. There's a lot of them in Austin. Yeah. Maybe because it's hot. Okay. Are we texting their paws? I'm asking. It's a question. I'm not judging yet. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I think people are using them as carts like in the grocery store and maybe because it's hot. Like I can't walk Ginny for more than 10 minutes. Okay. So Austin is a dog stroller city because it gets so hot. But like, it's not that deep. Like we don't have to have our dogs in strollers. Well can't you put shoes on them? It's too like yes but it's like too hot for them to be outside for a super extended period of time.
18:05Does the stroller solve that though? Yeah you're in the shade Yeah I kind of get that. Okay I'm good with that. That's just my guess. I feel like I've been seeing them everywhere the past couple days. Well it's been really hot. What happens is I'm like walking by someone and I think they have a kid and I go to like look at to see how old the baby is and there's a little fluffer in there. So that's been happening to me too is if we have the stroller and then they have a stroller coming too it's very like how do we navigate two strollers you know i want to see your kid you probably want to see our kid then i'm like it's a chihuahua yeah no it's always a crusty little white dog which i can say because i have one yeah okay we won't say that but jules can say that i i'm so down for paw protection in the heat and that's great i'm good with strollers now speaking of four wheels what about the waymo recall what yeah they recalled like their entire fleet but they didn't recall the one i took yesterday so i'm not sure what's going on with that i see this i see waymo recalls entire u.s fleet entire u.s fleet how do they all drive within an hour of me reading that headline i uber uber prices were inflated it sent me the thing like do you want to wait i was like yeah done when they do a recall do they just tell all the waymos to go to the semi and then they loaded themselves on a truck and they all go back to the factory it's a very good question on an autonomous vehicle recall do you let them autonomously get to where they need to go or do you have them just pull over to the side of the road and have humans drive them in so i guess what happened is is a Waymo in San Antonio turned into an area that it shouldn't have and that forced it to get swept away in a river.
19:52Was somebody in the car? I don't know. I don't think anyone was in the car. The Waymos have been acting up lately. I've been seeing like a lot of Waymos, you know, in oncoming traffic. A lot of Waymos stuck in field. so I'm happy to see they did a recall, but getting swept away in a river. I wanted to ask Alex, how many Waymos do you think that there are in the U.S.? Great question, Jules. Oh, gosh. 2 ,700 came to mind. Oh, pretty good guess, actually. How many? 3 ,800. I just think we talk about them so much for them to only be 3 ,800 in the United States. I totally agree. But I think they're only in three or four cities.
20:36Yeah. So the Waymo recall, how did it work? Because this is what I asked Karrison the other day. Like, who washes the Waymos? And then where do they park overnight? Or do they ever park? I don't. Do they have a docking station? Yeah, I'm sure they do. Where is it? It's by my house. It's by Peace House. Oh, by Peace House. Okay. So they do have a Waymo docking station. Yeah. And so that is inherently, like when people get super nervous about job loss, and then the argument against all right the job loss of that comes with autonomous vehicles is through every major technical revolution more jobs are created than previously existed okay so starting with the horse and carriage the automobile to the computer internet so on and so forth it's like that's a great example of it it's like while you lose the drivers you then create an ecosystem of where all the vehicles park so there's the landowner of that then those vehicles need to be cleaned those vehicles need to be serviced and so on and so forth and there's somebody that's overseeing them right it's just more techie it's less manual labor and it's more somebody behind a screen right exactly so things ramp up on on the programming side but like you then have people who are working at at these at these storage locations to the HQs mm-hmm Okay.
22:04Not a lot of them. So, but. From what I'm learning, though, like, they don't have to just return to the facility to be fixed. It's over the air. So, they're doing, they're pushing software updates to them. Well, how would they need an engine change? For the software updates. Yeah, for an engine change, I'm sure they're going somewhere. But, like, we got these, there's the tech side, but there's also, like, these vehicles need to be cleaned. Correct. So, where are they getting cleaned? They're getting cleaned in a centralized location, and then you have a cleaning service that often will be created, dedicated for the Waymos.
22:40Yeah. Do they— Because Waymo doesn't want to deal with that themselves. Are they—they're electric? Yeah? I don't think so. I don't know. No, obviously the Tesla robotaxis are. What's a Waymo taking gas? No way. One sec. waymo's entire fleet is 100 electric they do not use gas okay so they go somewhere to charge i just didn't know jaguars had electric cars there's no way they were going to create an autonomous vehicle and then make it take gas that would be one step forward one step sideways so it's good that they they at least did that yep okay well there's our waymo chat um what are we talking about now probably you've got like this cut on your leg let's talk about ollie dog food because 91 of dog parents say their pup is an important member of the family and 40 would even save their dog over a human stranger so if that doesn't tell you that people are obsessed with their dogs then i don't know what does and if anyone gets being dog obsessed guess who it is it's ollie they're relentless about delivering the best food and experience for you and your dog and they give you a way to check in on their health over and over and over again.
23:53So I love that because they don't just stop at dog food. They say, hey, let's check in on your dog. Let's do checkups. And that is peace of mind that starts with the food. If you're not completely obsessed, you'll get your money back. that's OLLie.com slash two parents and enter code two parents to get 70 % off your first box all right you want to talk some kid things I want to talk sharing an expert on sharing over here no no I'm not an expert on it but I have been reading a lot about it because I noticed well no mom asked me she said what do we know about sharing and I was like ironic I was just reading about this and so give me a moment i want to talk about sharing for a couple reasons one is i feel like tate's now at an age call it like a year and a half two years with they can really start to understand the concept in its earliest form i know you made a video on it there was a lot of commentary um what so what did you learn from your video any comments what'd you say in the video for the listener?
25:41Well, what I said in the video was, okay, I'm going to just do a summary here because one comment on the video was we expect forced sharing for kids, but we don't do it as adults. For example, if you were in the kitchen cutting up a cucumber, making dinner, and you were halfway through your cucumber and I came up and I was like, Hey, I need your knife right now. You'd be like, Oh, let me just finish chopping the cucumber. And then you can borrow the knife but then another adult in the room is like no give him the knife right now it's like okay so i give you the knife right that's how sharing forced sharing can feel for these kids and so one of the the number one thing that the comments was saying is say take turns instead of share because like tate knows what a waffle is because you say waffle she sees the waffle she tastes the waffle when you're like no share it's like abstract she doesn't know the she hasn't learned the word yet what does sharing mean yeah so a good way to do sharing is modeling sharing modeling taking turns between you and i like if we hand this coffee back and forth and we say take turns dada takes turns then mama takes turns and that way they know they're getting it back because it's one of those things like when you say it out loud obviously it makes so much sense but when you're in the thick of the day-to-day you you see how easy it is to miss miss the mark on guiding these things i i'd never heard of this concept of force sharing it um and it makes all the sense in the world why it's ineffective and why you don't see good reactions from from kids what think about this though really quick if you if you and i were out to eat and i wanted the pancakes and you wanted the steak and eggs and we were both like so happy with what we chose the equivalent of kids walking into a room and picking their toy and then halfway through the meal i'm just like give me your steak and eggs it's like well not right now are you gonna take a bite am i gonna get them back i do that sometimes i was gonna say that was sometimes when i'm pregnant i don't do it not pregnant i'm kidding but you're saying then that would be the waiter coming over and saying harrison you have to give alex your steak and eggs right now it's the adult that's coming in yeah the halfway through cutting the cucumber and asking for the knife was it was the scenario that that really really landed for me but then it's important to understand what happens to them they they it's not as simple for them it's not you saying hey give her your toys she's going to play with it and give it back to you they don't understand they're going to get it back yeah they're they become so sad and overwhelmed because it's telling them what you love playing with isn't safe with you it's going to go somewhere else and then that floods their system and then you're trying to explain to them no we share and we're not they don't they don't hear you they don't know what you're saying so it's ineffective so you just touched on something that i've actually learned to be a lot more applicable to the rest of parenting and that is if you want your child to do something there's no better way to get them to do it than doing it yourself okay so perfect example or do you want to go no you go perfect example brushing your teeth If I go into the bathroom and hand take a toothbrush and try and brush her teeth, there's going to be some element of friction.
29:07Versus if we go into the bathroom together with two toothbrushes and I put her toothbrush in front of her and just start brushing my teeth. 10 out of 10 times, she's picking up that toothbrush and brushing her teeth. And to the point, she won't brush her teeth until she gets the toothpaste. on it because she sees I get my own. She sees I'm putting the toothpaste on mine. So she requires it go on hers. And whether it's brushing your teeth or eating is like the exact same example. Right. Like when we sit down at that dinner table, if we want her to effectively eat, we need to take what's on the table and put it in front of her.
29:47When we give her something different that isn't on the table, it's just like, nah. So I do think there's the parallel there that you spoke to on the sharing front of the power of actually showing them and having us do the give and take there. Did that land? Yeah, it totally lands. And I think it's where they learn everything is from us. It's where she learns to put her purse on her arm and grab car keys and say bye. yeah like she you know they don't toddlers don't know how kids don't know how to chew and swallow and then they have to learn right like they don't know how to what they're not armed with anything other than literally sucking like that's what they come out of the womb and know how to do breathe and suck and it's it's it's the consistent reminder of why we need to be on top of our game and be our best selves because they're always always always watching it's but it's why you need to put your phone up in front of them it's why there's so many absolutely there's it's just like parenting is a full-time job and like this is an example of that but on the sharing front I do think it helps one thing with having two kids now is I want to be like armed with tools of how to best handle situations so I don't feel overwhelmed and on the sharing one we're lucky because Bubz is like at this point this can always flip sometimes she she does not want to share a toy I find 80 % of the time Bubz is giving away her toys and so I think we're lucky in that regard but I do think understanding what's happening inside their body when we're trying to get them to share is really helpful.
31:22And so do we have a good resource for this? I watched TikToks. I read a bunch on it. The other thing I read about was, what was the other video I made? Tantrums. I was going to say, have you read about the Hantavirus?
31:41How are these transitions, Jules? Cheesy. he's having fun but um bum have you read about it well i've i've watched tiktoks about it yeah what have you learned well it stems from rats rat poison rats rat poison i'm not familiar do you think that we are dealing with a covid 2.0 here i don't know the video i saw said no but they also told us covid wasn't going to be a thing i i don't think so but i think it's like well no never mind so here's the thing i'm i'm a little mixed on this because on one end i saw like the news bump and then it felt like it really faded but then i looked at the calci odds and calci is often where like a lot of the smart money is playing and they're saying there's a 20 chance that it's declared a public health emergency which makes me think like that that's a lot higher than I thought.
32:42Now, obviously, the connect between it being a public health emergency and reaching that next level of scale is there still is a pretty big jump that needs to happen. Just more serious than I would have thought. I just can't handle another COVID. Like, two in one lifetime? That's crazy. I don't think that this country would... There's a very large percentage of this country that would not handle or would not accept another COVID. And so, let's hope that that is not the path we go down. I just think people would have a lot more opinions this round. They would do things a lot differently, and I think it would be 20 times worse.
33:19I think there were a lot of opinions last time. I think that there'd be a... But we had never done it before last time. There'd probably be some more action. But now, if you go through one pandemic, you know, you've got, like, your pandemic badge, and so then you think you know something round two, and I just think that would be bad. Yeah, I'm looking at the replies to this Kelsey tweet. What is Kelsey? Season two is, what's Calci? Oh, come on. This is your betting thing? This is Calci's, the prediction market. So anytime like there's something noteworthy going on in news, politics, pop culture, there's a Calci market for it.
33:57And that market is tipping often to what the smart people know. So if you see the odds of something happening are 90%, a lot of smart people think that's going to happen. If you, for whatever reason, are in the know or believe firmly on the other side and there's a 10 % chance that it's underwriting a 10 % chance of it happening, then that's a great bet for you to make. Great payoff. Okay, but let me ask you this. You bet real money? Yeah. And so what's the end date on this becoming a global health crisis? Like, when do they get their money? It's this year. So basically the way that works is if a public health emergency is announced, then you get paid the money.
34:47Or on Jan 1st when the clock, or Jan 31st when the clock strikes, December 31st, when the clock strikes midnight, you get paid out. and what if they declare it a health emergency and then like nothing really happens from it doesn't matter doesn't matter and i learned that the hard way remember yeah because what did i bet on that i lost on tiktok i bet on the tiktok ban but big on the tiktok ban lost on the tiktok ban yeah because they did they did they technically banned it now a few different things we can talk about right now do you want to talk about this tweet yeah i think we should talk about it okay because we're sitting at 1.1 million views on the tweet.
35:32Explain the tweet. I'm going to read the tweet. We're going to put the photo up. In Austin, I noticed a new omnipresent look among the men. Baseball hat with salad coming out the back. Heavy scrap, no tan, white muscle shirt, under plaid, button down. Jack Donahue slash MLB slash white construction worker chic. Sudden, identical, and everywhere. Stefford Rose. And what do we have? A picture of yours truly. Yeah. So what's our takeaway? What do the comments say? What do the comments say? The most viewed reply with 23 ,000 views is look at these chill dudes looking casual and chill. Fucking assholes.
36:20and then it's this image of this guy scrunched over sitting there saying i loathe every person i see on the street look at that stupid asshole and then it's just like a normal dude now what i'll say on that is in my defense i'm wearing a fucking t-shirt and a hat like i'm not wearing a plaid button up my friend beside me also wearing a t-shirt and a hat and uh and then one of the three is wearing a uh a button-up very very sharp button-up i think it's a t-shirt and the hat this the takeaway of it at least for me is this is very much yelling at clouds but they're all saying that they're admitting that in the comments um and then this guy he replied to that person saying literal footage of what happened here um this look has been around forever two guys in a t-shirt and one guy in a plaid shirt the only thing that longish hair in the back comes and goes scruff comes and goes go to us and look around tell me i'm wrong um morgan wall and core not even he's too clean this is like steroids construction worker so i don't it's it's surprising how much of a reaction it it it sparked all with guys i would have been offended no tan that would offend me personally i agree jules yeah i also look pretty tan in the photo you do um yeah i i don't have much much beyond that other than it feels like a yelling at clouds moment like it's three guys in in a t-shirt and the other thing like the lettuce okay the salad as he calls it like this is let's give the hockey hair credit where where credits do so salads what the is the stuff coming out the back?
38:13Yeah. Oh, I love your hair. Darn. So I was, I was going to go short, but I feel like now I can't cut my hair short. Okay. It looks like we are losing Alex. And so Jules, you and I going to finish this bad boy off if that's cool with you. What carby comfort food do you miss? Because they don't meet your macros. Think anything with bread, think French toast, even sandwiches, wraps, pasta. Well, enter hero bread. You guys, you'll never know from the taste that it is zero to five net carbs and 11 to 32 grams of fiber from the texture. I promise you this stuff is so good. You get the soft, fluffy experience, you know, and love whether you're packing fresh wraps for everyday lunches or toasting up to 19 grams of protein in a breakfast bagel.

39:02There's no compromises, just flavor. And I'm telling you, Harrison started out being obsessed with this stuff. And then I started trying it before they were even a sponsor. It is that good. It is so mouthwatering good. Zero to five net carbs, zero grams of sugar, and 11 to 32 grams of fiber. All your favorite recipes are covered with heroes, bread slices, bread loaves, tortilla, bagels, and even noodles. I love their noodles. Hero bread is offering 10 % off your order go to hero.co and use code 2 parents at checkout that's code 2 parents at h-e-r-o dot c-o all right so we've lost alex now it's about to be 12 28 and this probably isn't on p's radar but for kill tony oh no no no they're now doing a lottery so the lottery opens at 12 30 so we can join the lottery for the shows.
39:57Okay. Do you want us all to join the lottery for the shows? No, I don't think we need to do that. Okay. I don't think we need to do that. No problem then. We can enter the launch and you 24 hours enter launch. So we don't even need to do it now, but we need to, oh, this is pretty exciting. This is pretty exciting. But now the thing about the lottery is they're going to charge your card if you get it. so you can only enter so many ones you can only enter so like you can enter as many as you want but whatever you get they're going to charge your card so if you enter eight and you get all eight then you get charged and you can't transfer the tickets what yeah so you just have to give them wait you have to get a group of eight going then no that you to enter so what one thing that the mothership does which i love is they there's zero secondary market for their tickets oh so like when i buy a ticket they check my id when i enter and it has to match with the purchaser of the ticket i'm i'm stunned that artists haven't shut down the the secondary market for ticket sales right yeah what i think it's greed i don't know how i don't know where but like they've not shut it down because they're in some way making more money because of this well ticket master is now making more money because of it because they're getting the um the fees on the secondary sales but to my understanding the artist doesn't get any of that resale value and so what you can do and certain artists do is they only let the ticket be transferred at the face value of it and what that does is that prevents the scalpers from um from getting involved do you have the keys to the car um i do have the keys to the car okay i've got a diaper rocky bears diaper that is pads okay we're not in that pocket is this a plea for a male diaper bag i've thought about it I thought about it.
42:24One, two. Yeah, let's just... Okay. So did you watch that roast of Kevin Hart? I watched Shane Gillis' opening bit, Tony Hinchcliffe's bit, and Cheryl Underwood's bit. And I'd like to go watch the rest. I find them really long. Like, I'd rather not be live and then to just, like, pick the best hour and, like, cut a bunch of other comedians. Oh, it was live. It was live. And I think it was like three hours. And then what do you think about like Lizzo, for example, she didn't write her own jokes. So like comedians wrote the jokes for her and she read them. Well, I go a few different ways on this.
43:09A lot of the comedians didn't even write their own jokes. Like Shane Gillis posted a photo of the guys who wrote his joke. So he went and he gave them the credit for that. OK, good. Because it's a different style. Now, Tony Hinchcliffe wrote his own jokes. And the reason why I believe that is because when I was at the mothership a couple weeks ago, he did his kill Tony. He did his Kevin Hart roast set at the mothership because they take away your phones. So he previewed all that. Like he went up there and he ripped Kevin Hart for whatever, 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes, whatever it ended up being. And like read the crowd's reaction to what jokes would work and what jokes wouldn't.
43:55Yeah. And like you're just cool with that, with other people writing people's jokes? It's like are you cool with other people writing artist songs? Other people making musicians beats? I don't know. I think it's how a lot of different industries work. And a lot of that special sauce is like who that final deliverer of the song or message is. Yeah. I only saw the clips. I couldn't be bothered to watch the whole thing. Yeah, I haven't watched the clips because I'm trying to go back. But I think I'm just going to go to the clips. Okay. I need you to drive. Okay. I can drive. I can drive. I'm going to pick up the iPad here.
44:37You know what I figured out, though, when we've done the one episode that it was just us? It's the same as doing the interview of one person asking questions and one person asking the follow-up questions. I'm incapable of doing both. Okay. Well, we got this. We got this. So, Tweet of the Week. Poland introduces 0 % income tax for families with two or more children. Why are we laughing, Jules? I'm sorry. It's insane. Well, why is it insane? Because I'm not educated enough to speak on this, but as a childless person, it's just a little insane. But I think that what people aren't focused on is the economic consequences of the fertility crisis that's going on in the world right now and in America right now.
45:34Okay. So U.S. fertility rates are at all-time lows. So right now, the U.S. fertility rate, I believe, is around 1.6 children. That's below replacement value of children. And replacement value is not the word I'm going to use. Yeah, yeah, I guess it's replacement rate. I just pulled up the tweet right here. so the governments it it makes a lot of sense for governments to incentivize larger larger families and i think if you look at our generation and one of the largest drivers of why people say they don't want kids is financial it's often financial nature and so giving those financial incentives to families, I think is a really smart move.
46:28Because right now, the tax breaks for kids aren't that big. And obviously, you can get smart with it and cap it and so on and so forth. But I thought this was really interesting. I love strong government-led initiatives. I love that for you. Okay. You love it for me, Jules. Okay. Moving on. Moving on. Moving on. How does it feel when your clothes actually feel good? Well, this spring, Cozy Earth makes that the case that you want to wear the things at home just as much as you want to wear it out of the home and maybe even more. Let's talk about their jogger sets because they are the answer to that, you guys.
47:03The jogger set moves through your whole day with you. The viscose from bamboo means it's breathable in a soft way that actually holds up. Wash after wash, it even gets better. And that's the thing about workout clothes. I hate when I wash it and then I'm like, it just lost all of its quality. The thing about Cozy Earth is it never sacrifices on quality. Plus you get a 30 day return policy. So try it for yourself. Cozy Earth backs everything with a 30 day return policy because they're confident you'll feel the difference. And if you don't return it, it's that simple. And there's a lifetime warranty.
47:33They are made to last a lifetime warranty on your home. Where isn't something you see often you guys, it's the kind of commitment that tells you exactly how something is made because if they're willing to put their money where their mouth is and they will give you the 30 day return policy, which is what Cozy Earth does this spring give yourself the kind of comfort that lives with you all day not just in the moment you get home head to cozyearth.com and use our promo code two parents to get an exclusive 20 % off that's code two parents for an exclusive 20 % off and if you see a post-purchase survey mention you heard about cozy earth right here i'm gonna hit one more okay what do you want me to hit here i think the dad weight gain i thought that was interesting okay the husbands of pregnant women because of something, maybe a pheromone, maybe some odor of the pregnant woman, actually increases the man's prolactin, puts body weight on the guy, starts laying down body fat, presumably to prepare the father for the long, sleepless nights ahead because humans have always co-parented.
48:32These out there who get fat don't feel bad. Yeah, so the dad bod is in part due to an increase in prolactin. It's cool. it's it's cool but i i think i think it's it's do you think it's reaching i think it's reaching i think we're talking needle in the haystack like when i look at what alex the beauty that she just went through from pregnancy to birth to then like bring it on to the man's body like just because there may be some minor effect going on that feels like we're we're totally missing the mark and and taking away from where the real real work is is being done so i i gotta shut that one down great answer yeah well honestly truthful answer like completely truthful answer and then i just closed this so can you i have a good thing to finish on okay uh we got a really good reaction people are saying that they will now watch the world cup so that they can watch the kardashians versus taylor swift okay so i don't know we need either people are asking one i don't think we should do this today but people are asking can you explain like football teams in that way can you explain baseball teams in that way yes i'd love to uh whatever isn't the nba something's going on right now yeah no i'd love to and that way people can watch and enjoy more with their partners okay that's great now now on the topic of watching and enjoying more with your partners i'm going to crown survivor the couple show okay and and the amount of uh the ability just to latch onto these characters um and like cheer for some and root against the others like i haven't had this much fun watching a show with alex ever so i i think that for couples i would put survivor top of the list and sneakily what's happened is we've had different friends of ours come out of the woodwork and tell us that they've been watching survivor as a couple for years and years and years so there's this cult following of survivor watchers which like i didn't know existed and i think that that i think that that should be on more folks right are you watching that other show with alex and i can't find the title of it right now but you put it on our story the neighbor one no the other one the money one yes i am do you like it she loves it what's it called marigold uh search apple the girl does only fans blonde margo's got money troubles margo's got money troubles okay so not a wreck maybe from you right now i think it's she loves it i am typically when she puts that on i'm kind of catching up on on work emails but i'm in the room so i could tell you what's going on i was gonna come with a show rec today but i did watch an episode of a new hockey romance series what's it called it's called off campus it's based on books that i love it's awful i watched one episode oh it's bad yeah but i was like so excited to come with the rec for you guys because i thought what's going on with huda rivalry season two it's not coming out until the spring unfortunately okay wow so we're like almost a year away yeah that feels like you missed the mark it's a bummer it needs to come out what do you think of the met gal uh outfits yeah like connor stories looks like business casual like what i would wear to the office in 2018 that's the canadian guy no that's the texas guy the russian the russian i loved his outfit really and it looked like business casual to me i loved his outfit i have that top and then uh we we needed either the outfit or the makeup in a different outfit like we didn't need the black swan makeup paired with the bullfighter outfit i'd love his outfit i thought the other guy's outfit was brutal i'm talking about i'm talking about the canadian now the canadian was i thought was i thought i thought his outfit was cool but i thought the makeup element they just were like combating each other to me it was very non-met gala okay okay yeah but i love this i love that what's his name the russian guy connor story connor story he's great yeah they're both great yeah they're both great but i i prefer connor i know you do i know you do um okay do you have anything else no i don't think so i do think it's kind of funny that the minute we speak to like getting back to routine we do kind of cut the episode short that is parenting in in a nutshell um okay so
53:31anyone i don't know if this is a plico i don't know how this relatable is this but i'm i'm pretty blown away when so we're doing the outdoor yard work oh yes okay okay we move the pipes and so And now they're about to start on the pool. Okay. So what we've done is we've got plans. We got plans done up for the yard. I think I talked about that. And the people who did the plans connected me to a GC. And that GC, that general contractor, gave me a quote for the project. while I was waiting for the quote what I did is I reached out independently to different specialists so like someone to do the landscaping someone to do the kitchen and so on and so forth and I think what they say is they say that GCs typically do a 20 markup the pricing that i got back from the gc relative to the pricing that i got back from the dedicated uh workers is truly night and day and the premium put on is it's like jaw dropping so i guess i'll give some numbers yeah so we need to do like uh we need to do a deck demolition the GC You're demolishing the back deck?
55:00No, just the side of it. Oh, okay. Like a really small part of it. Just like literally a staircase. Quoted me $4 ,800. I spoke directly to a deck company. $1 ,200. So 25 %? No. $1 ,200 to$4 ,800? $1 ,200 to$4 ,800. that's it's like over double that's true 20 1200 is 25 of four oh that's where i'm going okay it's like trying to do my mental math no it but it's more like a you know 3x markup yeah true to 3x markup yeah and and that and i use that as an example because that is applied to everywhere right to the fence to um as i said the like the concrete demolition and yeah just the big takeaway is i feel like a lot of people get don't end up doing housework because the price tags that come back are astronomical but there's just a massive amount of savings in going direct to the specialists and from the person that you drew up the plans with like you knew the 10 things that need to get done right yes like there's that's not the bear i don't know for me that would be the barriers like i'm like i don't even know where to start but if you know the 10 things that need to get done it's reaching out to those people and getting the quotes and managing the work like managing the work well what you do a lot like it all starts with just reaching out to people explaining to them what you want done and then saying hey what of this can you do and so like for example like you may think okay i want to redo my bathroom and um all right for the um to to reinstall the bathtub and and the toilet i'm gonna need a plumber but then who's gonna do the tile does the plumber do the tile or does someone else do the tile?
57:11And so I then just ask my plumber, hey, do you have a tile guy? And that gives him the ability to say, yes, I do, because he likely does. Or like, no, I actually can do that for you. But people are much more specialized than I would have thought coming into this. Because I have zero home renovation experience before this house. yeah so i was gonna initially as of last week i was gonna gc the yard but the cost savings are so big that i think i'm gonna i'm gonna uh contract the project myself it's a good tip yeah yeah well so we'll see how it goes yeah um okay yeah just trying to think of anything else flock chicken sticks now it sprouts no i'm not allowed to talk about that no you're totally allowed to talk about Yeah.
58:07Brought Bubba in there. Aw. Yeah. Me and P are wondering when that one new product we tried is going to come out. What one? The, I can believe it.
58:21This year. This year. We both love it. And we would love more samples downstairs if possible. We should get some new samples soon. We're doing some updated brand work. And so I'm excited about that. I think there's like two to three new categories we're going to go into. Oh, cool. And yeah, things are good. All right. I love it. All right. From the publisher
This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we are deep in the weeds of toddler social skills, specifically: how to actually teach a toddler to share and the power of modeling behavior for toddlers because… they are watching (and copying) EVERYTHING.
Then we recap Mother's Day (the four of us at the coffee shop, my protein pancakes at The Well, and then our chaotic visit to a new store in Austin (s/o to Tiffany the most patient employee in the store, we love you). Plus, Harrison's Father's Day request (NO gifts (how many times has he said this on the pod until Alex listens lol)) and a little 2 under 2 update because Tate is more and more OBSESSED with Rocky everyday and we genuinely did not expect this 🥹
Plus, is the "dad bod" actually science?! (Apparently prolactin levels go UP in dads but Harrison is calling BS) and Harrison going VIRAL on Twitter for being a "basic Austin man" (baseball hat, scruff, plaid button-down) hahhaha
And the fun stuff: our weekly (?) Waymo segment (sorry we can't help it), is it actually rude to customize your coffee order, what's the deal with DOGS in strollers, is the Hantavirus about to be lockdown 2.0, do we care if comedians don't write their own jokes, why Survivor is officially THE best couples show, and a home renovation hack we genuinely needed to share because the savings are JAW DROPPING (skip the GC!).
LOVE YOU GUYS!
