1:28I didn't mean to take the watch off. Don't let us stop you. Get off TikTok. Because the problem is, keep her yelling at me. Huh? I have something. Now that you have your Apple Watch, do you get like phantom pings on your wrist? No, because all my notifications are off other than phone calls. And why do you check it? And then it. Yeah. What do you mean? You're always checking it. Well, because it's pictures above her. Yeah. And it's new photos every day, so I'm just curious what ones are. Like, look at that one. That one's unbelievable. And then that one. Look at that. She's in her little bear suit.
2:08I love her bear suit. Oh, my God. When she had her, what's it called? The passy string. The passy clip. Oh, the passy clip. That was such a cute face. That was the item that was. It was such a cute face. The passy clip. Yeah. She needed the passy clip. But just one day they become so strong and they rip it off and it becomes a game. Yeah. they will not stop ripping it off um okay ready okay i want to say it every week and i finally said it this week what okay okay where it's cold in here no um ready okay yeah you're right it's cold i want to do it every week welcome back well that was so lackluster hold on Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast.
2:58Happy Valentine's Week? It is. That's why I wore this outfit. If you're listening, first of all, if you're listening or watching, hit us with, because you're already here, please hit us with, as our Valentine's Day present, a subscribe and a like. Like this video. I'm trying to get better at it. I tell you what this boy okay so the baby's not breached anymore and so I used to think he was headbutting me but now I realize he's it's his legs and I think I'm gonna bruise on the right side of my stomach I mean I I tell you what he's gonna have some strong leggers he's in there doing squats I think at what point do you think we're gonna see remember with Bubber sometimes we'd like see her limbs I can see him I can see him oh I haven't seen him yet yeah I fully can And it's just with Bubber, we didn't have a baby.
3:49So you and I would sit there and stare at my stomach. Remember, like we would just like I would lay in bed with the first one. It's so funny with the first baby. You know how many weeks you are to the day, almost to the hour. And every time she would kick, I would like put Harrison's hand on my stomach. This time I'm like, I don't know how many weeks I am. And I don't think you've ever seen him kick once. It's so funny. 30 weeks, four days. no I'm not you are I don't think I am 100 % what? yeah okay 100 % I thought the day was Tuesday well then remember the day changes it's really confusing because apparently like when we first I double checked with the OB yesterday really?
4:38yeah for this moment not for this moment because I want to make sure I'm on the ball hey we record tomorrow how far along is she? I want to make sure I'm on the ball Good job. Good job, H. I do feel really good being in the 30s. And I feel like really good also being two months away. Now when I'm really going to be just so excited is when it's March. Because right now everyone's like, when are you doing? I'm like, middle of April. And that feels really far away. But when it's March and I'm like, middle of April, that's just next month. So that I'm really excited for. We've got a short month here.
5:11Oh, we do? Yeah. Every year. every year every year february short that's really exciting it's only 28 days right yeah i saw something that said why do we have to pay the same amount of rent for a 28 day month versus a 31 day month you know what i love that i agree with that i think a little discount would go a long way if landlords are listening that'd be really funny yeah it's funny because like one like from our e-com business perspective that three-day swing like actually is very noticeable you make less in February. Because there's three less days. We have three less days of selling. Yeah, that's funny.
5:51Speaking of the month of love,
5:56Maria got the girls just like an all-time gift. Oh, please share. I don't even know this. Why don't I know this? Well, I didn't know they were from her. And I've been trying to figure out who they're from. And then today she said, look what I got the girls. I said, you got those? She got them two pages of stickers that are monogrammed. It says Tate Fugman. Oh, the names. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Those are unbelievable. They're so cute. They can put them on their water bottles and things. Okay, I did not know where those were from. They were from Maria. That's a 10 out of 10 gift. Do you know what else she got, Bubz, last week?
6:29The water bottle. No. Do you know what else she got, Bubz? No. She was like, I brought her her first Barbie. I was like, you're so nice. It's Rapunzel Barbie. Oh my goodness. I know. I don't know why. I was like, that is so sweet. That is just the nicest. I know. I know. So anyways, there's a lot going on with her. And she's finally getting her wipe off board this week. Did Winnie get the same one? What? Did Winnie get the same Barbie? Well, here's the thing. Why are they sharing the Barbie? This is why I think Tate got the Barbie last week. Because Winnie was out of town for a week. So it was just Tate.
7:07And I think she saw the Barbie and got the Barbie and brought the Barbie. but what she's so good about is they always get they both get the exact same thing so you know what so we won't tell when you got the barbie no now that i'm saying it out loud i'm sure when he got a barbie okay but i just i hadn't even thought about it i was like oh bubber doesn't have a barbie yet that's really cute okay so i what i want to do off the top and harrison is give you a thank you somebody dm'd us and was like you guys don't have to um well what they say because we always say i want to give you your flowers and they were like you don't have to announce that you're giving the flowers it's a segment so segment flower segment this is the give the flowers no i'm just gonna say thank you because he has been on bubber duty every single morning like every single morning because what we found is if i get up with her at six like i'm truly in bed for four hours during the day and so harrison gets up with her you guys i'm not exaggerating when i say every single morning no thank you necessary you like and and i feel like we're it's like groundhog day here.
8:07Like you are doing the major work here. Like it's the least I can do. Well, I'm getting my butt kicked. No thinking necessary. I cannot believe the exhaustion that exists in the third trimester. I don't know if I don't, I don't know if I don't remember it. I don't know what it is, but I find it to be very humbling. Now here's what I do want to say. I think you're more tired this third trimester than last for sure. Me too. Like last third trimester was, I feel like looking back at it far and away, the trimester where you felt the best. Same, because I was walking more. That's when you got me the treadmill.
8:40Yeah. Right now, I can hardly walk. And my stomach feels heavier. You're doing great. Well, it is interesting, though, how every pregnancy is different. But the exhaustion is unbeatable. And I've been seeing some dialogue online of pregnancy exhaustion versus newborn exhaustion. And what I'll say is it is true. I'll take naps during the day. They don't give me more energy. They just help me survive a couple more hours. But where that, as someone who has no idea what you're feeling, where the other side of that does land is like yesterday, she's up at four. I do a double cap. So get like four shots of caffeine.
9:25And like, you're, you're just like, totally wakes you right up. You're back on track. You can shake that off. And so I just feel for you so hard when you say you can't shake the tiredness and just how hard that must be. So I come from the school of thought most of the time that tired is mental, yes. With the exception of sometimes life does catch up to you and you really are tired. But most of the time, yes, tired is – you can get through it. Pregnancy, tired – it's humbling. That's why I call it humbling. like there are moments you're killing it but there are just moments where it's just like oh i have to lay down right now and go to sleep and it's just like for i hate that i hate it because i want to get up and i want to go process you you are going every second of every day in in that baby rather get up and go you're doing great i don't like being kept down you know what i mean like it's not fun for me but here's what i was thinking about because what harrison said to me last night was, you know what?
10:27I'm just going to start getting up an hour before bub. So I have an hour to myself before she gets up in the morning. And I've heard people say that before. I've heard a lot of people say, just get up an hour before the kid. So you have some alone time, some time to yourself and you can do things. I think whoever said that didn't have kids or they had kids in high school and high schoolers are truly trying to get as much sleep as possible in their lives, like they're trying to wake up as late as possible. Toddlers are trying to wake up as early as possible because here's what happened with us.
10:58I've realized bubs. We were like, she wakes up at six 20 every day. That's what I thought last week. This week, bubs has woken up at six at five and at four. And so how, if we thought she woke up at six 21, but you started getting up at five 20. Okay. Well then one day she's just up at five and like, she's wide awake. And then yesterday day she is wide awake at four so it's like you can't really get up the hour before your toddler to have some you time because like you can't figure out when they wake up i want to re-clarify what i meant there okay so i would say that that 90 plus percent of the time she's waking up at six o 'clock plus minus i would say 75 of the time but like i would consider 6 20 and 5 40 in, that's kind of what I'm referring to.
11:47In the good zone. Right? Like within that range. Yeah. I think that she's there 90 % of the time. And I would say once every three weeks, she gives you a seven o 'clock. And so I think the problem, the mistake I made was like, mentally, every day I go to bed, I'd like hope for a seven o 'clock wake up. And so when it would happen at 5.40, you're thinking you're getting up an hour earlier, 30 minutes earlier than you would like to. versus what I meant, what I was trying to say yesterday was, I want to mentally prepare every day for a 5 a.m. wake up. And then you can be surprised if it's 6. And then if it's 6, I got an extra hour of sleep.
12:26Harrison, it's genius because it is mental. We pray for 7 and then 6 is like, oh, and 5 sucks. And so today was 6 and I felt great about it. Because you were expecting 5. Because I was expecting 5. Guys, it's the new year, which means everybody wants to hit their health goals. but when you're hitting your health goals, you don't want to sacrifice on taste, especially not bread, which is where hero bread comes in. Here's the thing about hero bread. It is a healthier version of sliced bread, okay? But it tastes so good, you will not even know that there's a difference. And that's what you really want.
13:04When you're doing healthier alternatives, you don't want to taste it. And that's where hero bread is amazing. You'd never know. It's zero to five net carbs and high fiber from the texture. And that's the thing. You can't taste the difference. The bread is so good. So get the soft, fluffy experience that you know and love, whether you're packing fresh wraps for everyday lunches or toasting up a 19 gram protein breakfast bagel. And that's the thing. We all want to get our protein, but we don't want to sacrifice on flavor. So this year, hit your goals without giving up your favorite bready dishes.
13:39Hero Bread is offering 10 % off your order. Go to hero.co, H-E-R-O dot C-O, and use code 2PARENTS at checkout. That's code 2PARENTS at H-E-R-O dot C-O. But today was the first time she woke up, and she usually just, like, starts to coo at us. But today was dad-dad, like she knew. She knows dad-dad's coming. We're on a program, we're on a new morning program right now. And here's the other morning program. And honey, I got to talk to you about it because it's a bit loud, but I'm not going to say anything. I'm not going to say anything. But what were you doing that sounded like bangs? Today? Were you cracking the eggs?
14:22Well, that wouldn't sound like a bang. I was like, oh my, it's not stopping. I have no idea. It sounded like you were deadlifting.
14:35I don't know. I vacuumed after we cooked this morning. Was it that? No, but I love that. I love that you did that. That's points for that. I don't know what you were doing. I don't know what you were doing. I thought you were moving the ice chest. You're talking this morning. Yes. No, this morning was like a very low-key standard morning. We got up. You made eggs. You made egg bites. They were very good. We did egg bites, yeah. so Harrison and Tate's new thing is they cook in the morning and it's crazy what repetition does for a toddler because I've watched the evolution of the videos of you guys cooking together and at first she didn't even know what an egg is now she knows to grab the egg put the egg in your hand and she knows she gets to crack the egg she knows how to stir and it's just repetition it's because you're doing it every single morning and they say repetition is how toddlers learn that's what my girl my brat busters girl taught me the more you you repeat something with them the more they know so last night in dance class for example they the miss cat she puts out a green circle and a red circle and you run to the green circle and then you run to the red circle the first time it was confusing for bubs yesterday she just took off and like sprinted him not a girl yeah i think the other piece to it is i guess there's a couple pieces to it that i have found have worked pretty quite well so giving her responsibility oh yeah that's really smart so like the dynamic that we went into is like the six to seven o 'clock hour was has been our hardest hour over the past month because before she was like good with anything we were doing the morning but now she really needs to be doing something and so between that hour it's too cold and too dark to go to the park really and leave the house and so I was thinking like what's the best thing to do with her and she loves to eat and so I'd make her breakfast but then when I'd be making her breakfast she'd be getting bored right and so I was like you know what I want to loop her into to the process and she has just loved it like she loved it it's the cutest thing ever but you can tell she loves it she loves when you pour the eggs into the individual little cupcake tins like she she really loves the cooking it's a it's just a really good activity for both of you um i just now need to loop you in on groceries and then yeah what do you know what do we need i have so i have a list of things that i want us to cook okay i want that list yeah because then i And what else are we going to say?
17:15I have a list of things you need to buy. A hand mixer. Jules, Jules, that is my Valentine's Day gift. Oh. There it is. And I'm not buying it. We'll get there. But can Bubba use it? I like to think his Bubba can use it. She would love it. Like, that's a thing where you would be holding it. Her hands would just be like, buy it. She loves to. That whisk isn't doing anything. And it's going to break. Those whisks. Harrison has. She's been doing the thing. Okay, everybody. She's been mixing herself. If you don't see Harrison's videos, go to his TikTok and watch his videos. But he has a handheld mixer, which is the equivalent of those little whisks that you get if you froth your coffee.
17:53It's a frother. And they break after every two, three weeks. So this is going to break. What we were going to discuss today was things I haven't bought. Because we're in a no spend slash low spend month with our neighbors. And we're doing individual competitions. and so I've been writing down things I want to buy that I'm not buying one of those things that I'm not buying is I'm actually not buying Harrison a Valentine's Day present I've never done that I've never actually not bought one but what I wanted to buy was a blue handheld mixer I have a blue handheld mixer really yeah it's a gift let's re-gift no I use it but would that not be the best gift on the planet and I was gonna and then I was gonna get a bowl and I was gonna put flowers and the bowl, put the mixer in it.
18:35It was going to be really cute. A birthday present? I'm going to pretend like that didn't happen and that lasts 30 seconds. And yeah, I have no idea what you just said. So feel free to... So you want it? I have no idea what you just said. So wait, now do I get you a Valentine's Day present? I don't know what you just said. Here's where I... This is what I thought about this morning. How much is the hand mixer? 25 bucks. Perfect. Love it. That's a great gift for me. But now you know I'm getting it for you. But I know I don't. you could do like extra ingredients for something he didn't hear that either I can't believe that this is an acceptable gift I thought for sure you didn't make it I don't want it if I actually need it you just wouldn't have to separately mash the banana it's a whole thing just one single process she will die at a mixer and then she can lick the that was my favorite thing when I was I still do it but you lick the thing it's so cute so i'm really that's one of the things though is like i'm really cautious about what we're making because she doesn't have like everything i put in front of her is fair game for her just to try and grab and put them out so like we're not doing meats yet and there's so many other things that i want to be cooking with her but like we're we're just not we're not there yet it's really smart we're doing a lot of baking no raw meats is very smart i get that now i get why you're not doing but i think that like in the next 30 to 60 days she's gonna start understanding like the do the do's and don'ts don't eat the raw things yeah she's trying to crack the eggs right now totally that's my next um that's the next thing i think we're gonna try and work on well why don't and i know that this is not gonna this isn't gonna land well because it's going to fall in the school of it's gonna sound wasteful and it is wasteful so we need to not do this but an idea is buy her a carton of eggs that she can learn to crack.
20:27I think we can just do it together. But I don't know what you would do with eggs with shells in them. I don't think there's anything. You just pick the shells out of the bowl. That would take forever. Hold on. This is what I want to ask you. Because whenever I say I don't want a Valentine's Day gift, I mean I definitely want a Valentine's Day gift. I just don't want to ask for the Valentine's Day gift. I don't. I actually don't want one. But if I got you one, would you be really happy that I got it? or would it be annoying that I got it? Saying annoying is not the right word. It's just completely unnecessary.
21:01Like I'm just telling, like please don't, please. But sometimes I say that and I actually am like, I mean do get me one. Yeah, I'm not doing that. So you actually don't want a Valentine's Day gift. Because I say I don't want one. I'm not a gift person. I love gifts and I actually think it's one of my love languages. I have such a dilemma. for your Valentine's Day gift. I have such a dilemma. Just to be clear, I've now learned to say I would love a Valentine's Day gift. I have such a dilemma right now. But you're saying you don't want one. I want you to go earmuffs and I want to maybe ask Jules.
21:36I'm just trying to clarify. Do you want a gift? No, I absolutely don't. Is that a... No, there's no winking. There's zero winking. Okay, hold on. I'll go earmuffs or no? Yeah, yeah. Ask her if the present's good. One, two, three. Am I allowed to upgrade a previous gift for her Valentine's Day gift. It's like I got her something for Christmas and it needed an improvement and so I improved it. And are you returning the other thing? Yeah.
22:03Sure. It's jewelry. I would enjoy that as a girl. Okay. Priscilla would enjoy that as a girl. Okay, perfect. So, all right. We're good. We're good. We're good. Yeah. Did you hear that? No. Oh, that's phenomenal. Because I actually like surprises. I don't want to know my gift at all. okay perfect yeah okay great that's exciting sounds exciting and now what's the other thing about valentine's day breakfast in bed flowers i love flowers from the right store no not grocery store flowers well just not the same flowers that i go by every day okay and i feel i i feel like i i feel like one thing i had to struggle with was i felt like i sounded um high maintenance saying all this but then i realized for you clear is kind you do really good with clear communication so just to level set i just love i love roses i love roses right but i go i go to trader joe's and whole foods and hb and buy the roses you know and so if they were from somewhere else that would be awesome yeah gotta be in a nice vase nice presentation i'm on this i know i just i feel really bad saying it don't feel bad but then if it doesn't happen i find that i'm sad so what I've learned is it's just better if I say it.
23:15Yep. Okay. I'm sorry. Don't be sorry. Well, I'm a little sorry. I'm sorry that that's what I like, but I guess I just, it's easier. No, it's good to know. Good to own it. Having a hot flash. 24:46So yesterday we went to the OB and did the glucose test. And on the way up to do it, Harrison had a phenomenal point because I had been fasting. I was like, I'm dizzy. And he's like, there's just got to be a better way to do it. Like, do we really have to go to the OB, drink the 50 milligrams of sugar, wait an hour, and then take the blood? like and then wait two days to get like are we not a little bit further evolved from that turns out there's like so many other ways you can do it and a lot of people deemed me that they just got the at-home prick test and that was i'm like i would so much rather do that yeah it just it didn't it didn't make sense that like this was the way that that that the test is being done well the other thing about the glucose test is i thought so what happened to me with tate was i did the glucose test i got in the car i threw up all day and i i fell asleep at noon and didn't wake up until the next day like it just wrecked me yesterday it was no problem and it's clear what you need to do during this test like we made that very clear how much what are you exactly drinking so you fast for four hours and then you drink a I think a 10 ounce it's it tastes like a really sugary Gatorade you have to drink it in under four minutes I drank it under a minute I don't know who I was racing but I was filming it on TikTok and I drank it in 42 seconds and then they take your blood and then they take your blood an hour later to see you know if your if your hemoglobin levels spike because you've had sugar.
26:26And what you could do is just do an at-home test where you prick yourself. Apparently, yes. A lot of people were like, I just did the at-home one. A lot of people were asking me what flavor I got. We don't have flavor options. So, yeah, I don't know. I just, I do think the glucose test, while it is important to figure out if you have gestational diabetes. For sure. We're not saying it's not important. We're saying, is this the best method to be doing the test? Yeah. has our medical system advanced to do something that's a little more efficient there's got to be another way i also i would love to take it at night that would just be awesome if i could just take it at home somehow i don't know i just find this test to be like i blocked off the rest of my day and it became a maybe to everything just in case and then turns out i was fine but with tate like i i found the photos of me i was throwing up outside the car like it just wrecked me you were at the austin motel weren't you i think at that point we were staying at your friend's house but the point is we had not moved into the house yeah i just remember i kind of remember that everything would take just like wrecked jules is in new york at that point yeah when did you get to austin again um august august okay so right when we moved into the house yes yeah i like Because I said you guys had a house before I moved first.
27:49Okay. I forget that period of like remoteness. It's funny everyone's bringing this up because I thought about it today. But I guess I wasn't doing the podcast at that point. No. So it makes sense. What do you mean? It makes sense that you forget about it? At that point, the podcast was just Alex and I'd like periodically show up here or there. I didn't start doing it on a weekly basis until January of last year. Right. Right. That's true. Happy one year. Oh my goodness. Thank you. We were doing it on a weekly basis before that. Because before Tate was born. But not before you moved here. No, no.
28:26Yeah. The first we started doing on a weekly basis like when I moved here. Okay. The day I moved here we went to Maros. We wasted no time. Now we have our own studio. Have we told people that we moved into our office? Yeah, we have the studio. and I do want to talk about the pillows. I think I want to order some different pillows. Well, no one is stopping you. It's like you taking off the Apple Watch, honey. You take the bull by the horns. I know. I just don't know what to do with it. You do it. My big thing, oh my God, would this be a good gift? I can't even ask. Can we do earmuffs again? I do not want art for right here.
29:03Oh my God, really? For my Valentine's Day gift? Art for the studio? What, what? You're going to expense my Valentine's Day gift? What type of... You just can't even see that in either of your cameras. I would like it to be like a kind of an abstract two parents in a pod. Maybe I should say two pap. No, two parents. And it's like, I could probably paint it honestly. Okay. I don't want to, but I could possibly achieve. Maybe we could do something custom. I don't know. Just leave this for now if it ain't broke. No, I think that we want to have a cool thing here. Okay, let's do it. Then we need to get a wide camera as well.
29:49I think that that's on the game plan. It's funny. We're just chipping away at our to-do list. Okay, we got to keep going because we have a lot to talk about today. The baby isn't breached, which I said off the top. The baby has flipped around, and my induction is officially scheduled. A lot of people were asking me yesterday, why do you schedule an induction? and I covered this with Tate, but I'm happy to say it again. I love an end date. I'm confused. I thought the induction was already scheduled. It was, and she said the same date, but I think the thing with, you can't schedule them that far out.
30:21She told me I would be able to have that date. So she penciled it in? Yes, and that's how she knew the same date. Two months ago? Yeah. And then just reconfirmed it this time? Well, now we're in the calendar year of, and so she's like, I can schedule it. She's like, let's go ahead and just book it. okay i thought i thought that the first thing the first time that we did it it was booked the first time we did it was a wink it was penciled and i knew she was gonna get it okay and then now she's like okay so we're just gonna go ahead and get that on the books okay perfect but she's she knew the date and the time um so what the reason i like to get induced i know it makes for a harder labor i know some people say that you're supposed to wait for the baby to come naturally and that's all great and dandy but for me I love to have an end date it helps me mentally I think it helps me physically so yes it made my labor with Tate a little harder but it was no problem and I would do it all over again and so with this baby we also have an induction date which I'm thrilled about so that's why we do it I'll probably do it with every kid i would say um so yeah that's how our doctor's appointment went yesterday um and okay names we don't have a name i think we have a contender name with that name you suggested the other day well i didn't suggest it somebody dm'd it to me and i know that people think i i might not see all the dms but i saw this one and i know immediately if i like a name or not and this one I was like I don't I don't mind that one bit I like that it reminds me it fits in the same theme as Tate that's why I like it it's unique but I think it will age well I agree we want it to be classic it goes well with the middle name not trendy and like we don't know anyone with this name and I didn't know anyone growing up with this name nor do I cannot think of one person can we say the name and bleep it so and you would go single name correct yeah oh yeah it might be a nickname nope that's the no same thing with tate how it's almost tatum it's just going to be that cool as we talk about it it it feels like it is like actually jumped to being a front runner well we don't have any we don't have like a we don't have front runners really well we have like Like the de facto default name that we've had?
32:47I think I know. Fitz? No. Yeah. And we call him ****. That's been the default. That's the if we can't give anything else. And I love ****. And Tate. We now have a rival. Okay. So we're going to the hospital with two names now. Now, here's the thing. I made a video, baby names we love but we're not using. And I was like, Tucker, call him Tuck. And on TikTok and on Instagram, people are like, can we please reconsider Tucker? Because Tucker and Tate. And it's really, really, really cute. But I don't know. I just don't love Tucker. I like it a lot. But I don't love it. We'll see how things progress.

33:37And then other than that, I don't have. but I love I love to see the baby so Tate I gotta I gotta push you on that no I love to see the baby and see their vibe I just I think that Tate came out spunky I think that's something that you're saying in theory but in reality I don't think that that's what happened at all no Tate almost I almost did an audible to Izzy and Izzy and Tate are the exact same name they have the same feel to them this conversation this conversation never happened with me Because I was like in my head, but my dad said Izzy and I was like, yes, that's the vibe. That's the vibe of her.
34:14Like her, Tate is the same vibe as Izzy. Could you imagine if we just did a full 180 pivot and did a baby name that had never come up before she arrived? Well, yeah, I could imagine. That's so you. And you. I don't think that's me. It's a bit more me. Yeah, I think I might see him and be like, that's a Hank, but not Hank. But I do love the name Hank. It was on my list. short for Hank yeah do you know what Hank's a nickname for Henry yeah yes yes I did I did not know that until the comments which I love Henry and Hank that's adorable the other thing I'm loving also from the DM's Ozzy but it's giving me Ozzy Osbourne but I love Ozzy like Ozzy and Tate it's so cute I saw that one Ozzy's adorable and then some people are like I have an Austin and we call him Ozzy that's cute cute you like it full name Ozzy is a little bit OZZY I'm very into a lot of these that I I do think we're gonna do a bit of beeping yeah I was gonna ask afterwards what we need to bleep yeah you like Ozzy I'm I'm vetoing Ozzy Ozzy can stay unbleeped it's I see Ozzy Osbourne and in Sharon Osbourne's face every time I say it yeah I I hear you on that Ozzy sounds like Ozzy Osbourne and rest in peace.
35:40Yeah, and I don't feel, and that's not a good thing or a bad, like I don't know Ozzy Osbourne, but it's just you can't see somebody else's face. You have to see just their face. Yes. Like I knew a Tate, but I never saw, like, I don't know, you just go with your gut on it. Like you're just good with it or you're not. Okay. Anyone who's a parent knows feeding decisions aren't a one-time thing. You make them again, again, and again, stage after stage. And too often, the options out there, whether you're feeding a baby, a toddler, or a big kid, just don't meet the standards you want for your child.
36:14Parents are constantly asked to compromise on ingredients, nutrition, transparency, and even safety. And that's where Little Spoon comes in, which is why we decided to try Little Spoon. And we won't be turning back anytime soon. And if you've tried Little Spoon, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's a trusted place to shop meals and snacks for babies, toddlers, and big kids, all made with real ingredients without having to rethink every choice or lower your standards at each developmental milestone. And the best part about it is, you guys, these meals are ready to go. So when mealtime comes or when your kid gets hungry, sometimes you're like, oh, my gosh, I don't have 20 minutes to prepare something.
36:52And then you're like, oh, my goodness, thank goodness I have Little Spoon. And if you've got a baby that's about to start eating, they have biteables that are cut to size. And so your little one can eat them and you don't have, they're like little pinchable meatballs and little pinchable meals. And you don't have to cut them all up individually. So feeding the kids doesn't have to be so complicated. Little Spoon makes it easy with real nutritionally balanced meals and snacks designed for every stage. It shows up ready to go, takes the pressure off and somehow still gets devoured veggies and all.
37:25No artificial dyes, flavors, or sweeteners either. And you know what? It's a win that we will take every time. Speaking of Ozzy though, are there any Elvis's around I wonder? Running around like has anybody done Elvis? Trisha Paytas' child. Who's? Trisha Paytas. Trisha Paytas has a kid? Has an Elvis? She has like four kids. One's Elvis. One's named Malboo Barbie. Is she? Legally? Yeah. Cute. Actually, I don't know.
38:03Is she married? Yeah. Oh, wow. She is. Speaking of married, who's Goldie Hawn married to? Not married to that you brought up? Kurt Russell. So I then got served a clip and they were like, how did you make it? Or how have you and Goldie Hawn had such a lovely relationship? And he said, just when you get a Goldie Hawn, you just make it lovely. Yeah, I saw that clip too. It was so sweet. And then I saw them presenting a Grammy or something, and he said, all we are, we're everything, but we're not one thing and we're not married. And it was really cute. I was like, aw, he's so handsome. Yeah, he's great.
38:39Did you ever see the movie Overboard? No, but I saw the movie Miracle. Oh, Overboard's a top five for me. What's it about? No one's seen it? I've not seen it either, but I think we talked about it on the podcast before. Oh, it is a classic. I can't explain it to you. You have to watch it. You wouldn't like it. It's great. It's so great. I watched Handmade Housemaid. I didn't read the book. I watched the movie. It was great. It was excellent. 10 out of 10. I highly recommend it if you find yourself in bed on a Saturday night at 7, watch that movie. Okay, moving right along. Okay, we're doing low spend month with the neighbors, which I feel like we covered.
39:17covered. But I think everybody after the holidays has spending fatigue, which usually probably hits in January. For us, we're like, you know, order, like we're nesting. And so January was not our month of, of really hammering down the budget. So we were talking to our neighbors and they were like, we also have spending fatigue. So we're doing, and we're actually doing it. I mean, we're 11 days into the month. We're doing an individual. So it's not couples versus couples. It's who spends the least individually. And I fear that the neighbor T will win because he texted his, the first time he made a purchase, he bought a beer on their trip and it was 1250.
39:57And I was like, wait, why are you texting us that? He's like, it's the first thing I've bought this month. I was like, oh no. I think there's some element of confusion. I think it's couples because I don't think it's possible to do individuals when there's so much purchasing is towards the household. Well, what was brutal was yesterday my OB was like, your OB deposits do. And I was like, this month? So I think, though, that you're operating as individuals. Neighbor T is operating as individuals. But neighbor M and me are operating as households. I don't think it can be individuals. I'm competing against you.
40:32That's why I had you buy our coffee this morning. You are. In competition with you. I'm so not going like. To win?
40:47Like we have me helping our household and neighbor T helping. No, you bought a house. Not a house. Today, like this is like. What did I buy? A hat. I bought a hat for a podcast. At Swedish Hill, the coffee shop. Like we don't need a hat.
41:03We don't need a hat. I, Alex, I don't, I, I mean this is, this is just a losing battle. for you because like the numbers the numbers speak the numbers don't lie the numbers don't lie have you been going through them yeah i went through the numbers yesterday i've been doing really good were you impressed when you went through the numbers we thought whoa she's doing really good she's getting around it by buying things for the office i'm expensing jewel sees those charges everyone yesterday got a mat for their desk i think they arrived today that's the Amazon, I tell you what, you guys can knock it all you want.
41:40It arrives fast. Yeah. Especially in Austin. Especially here because we have the warehouse. What's it called? Fulfillment Center. I mean, you can order something and it arrives two hours later. Yeah. It's a position. It's a stock that I've been accumulating quite a bit of. Oh, you've been buying? Yeah. Buying. For us. Stock of it. Okay. Yeah. I didn't realize what poor performance the stock has had over the past five years. Why is that? Do I own any of the stock? Yeah, it's being bought in our joint account. So it traded down pretty significantly after earnings last week, and I like the entry point.
42:19So we entered the point. Good for us. Very exciting as our financial advisor, as the couple. Okay, we're going to move to dental stories. There's so much on this list to talk about. What about things you're not buying? Things I'm not buying. there you're right Jules because I made a list of things that I'm not purchasing but I would typically purchase one of them being Tate Loves Bibs pacifiers oh yeah B-I-B-S and for some reason this month they've come out with just like these polka dot bibs pacifiers and they have monogrammed bibs pacifiers which like typically I would buy 20 of they're so darn cute they look so cute in the mouth but we don't need them it would be a nice to have not a need to have so i can buy out of passes it's really good to know yeah i found one today what i've noticed she does is she checks them on the walk maria brought back to the other day from the walk she said i found these she and she does it so sneaky but she checks them and if you don't see it they're gone they're gone And sometimes you'll be walking, because we walk a pretty consistent path.
43:31You'll see them on the path. That's what happened to Maria. She picked them up. She brought them back. She said, I'm going to put these in the dishwasher. Yeah. I was like, that is so cute. I also didn't get her a monogrammed I love daddy Valentine's Day outfit. That would have been a great gift. That would have been a great gift. Don't tell me that. I did get her and Winnie a Valentine's Day gift. Matching cowboy boots. They're the cutest things. And we know how much Bubba loves boots. And Winnie loves them too. And it's nice if they both have a pair. So I thought that would be cute. And then other things I didn't buy.
44:13More water bottles for them. Yeah, they've got enough water bottles. Because we have enough water bottles for them. And then we're going on our baby moon. And we're officially going next week. We're going to Miami. And I did buy a couple outfits for that, but I went through my photos of when I was pregnant last year. And I found dresses that I can wear. So I'm just going to wear those because I already have my pregnant dresses. Love it. So we went to Mallorca when I was pregnant with Tate for your mom's birthday. And I had got some things for that. And it's basically the same climate situation.
44:49And I'm the same level of pregnant. So that works out really well. very nice yeah so what have you not bought i i don't think i bought anything over 30 i'm sure you have sorry let me rephrase other than food because obviously the food bill is over 30 i don't think i bought an item over 30 a month wow yeah by design i'm just not really a spender did you buy your elwood sweatsuits last month yep okay okay and that was a big splurge for me so let's let's discuss your outfit today you've got on your canada hockey yeah a little this is 2002 okay i love it and what you're wearing that because the olympics are on yeah the olympics and have you been watching a lot of the olympics I haven't you were you talked a whole like we're going to do the Olympics thing and then I didn't see I'm not seeing a lot of Olympics from you.
45:53I'm very I'm very let down. I'm very. I want to think of the right wording for this. OK. Maybe we'll pull the room. Who here has watched any of the Olympics? Priscilla has. OK. Priscilla has. Jules. No. OK. Why haven't you watched any of the Olympics? I don't have Peacock. So Peacock has the Olympics. That's the other thing. You don't know where to watch anything these days. So that's what I was getting to. I was getting to, I love the Olympics. I think everyone loves the Olympics. People love the Olympics. It is so much fun to get behind your country, to get behind all the different athletes.
46:32The stories. The stories. Whoever is coordinating the Olympics, and I think it's NBC, like we need a reset. I think NBC is really dropping the ball with the Olympics. And one consistent theme whenever I talk to all of our friends is everyone wants to watch the Olympics, but they're lost as to the best way to do it. As to like when to tune in, what are the marquee events, what are the good storylines? And it feels like NBC just hasn't gotten with the times on making this the marquee event that it should be from a watch time perspective. Well, to compare it to the Super Bowl, everyone knew when to watch the Super Bowl.
47:22We're looking forward to certain things on the Super Bowl. Same thing with the Grammys. Like, I know exactly where to watch it. And I think the individual athletes do a good job with social media, right? Who's my girl, the rugby player? Ilona Marr. She crushed rugby on social media. And I'm seeing some of the individual athletes do it again right now. And they make you want to watch their sport. But the Olympics, I'm like, I don't know. What do I watch? I'm pregnant with baby number two, as you know. But with baby number one, I learned how hard and how stressful your feeding journey can be, you guys.
47:59And I've decided to give myself grace the second time around, no matter how my feeding journey goes, which is where Bobby comes in. I'm giving myself options and I want a formula company that does the same. And that's why I'm proud to partner with Bobby, you guys. They offer parents free lactation support, which I think is so important to be supportive of a mother's feeding journey. expert-led combo feeding classes to keep your milk supply going strong and high-quality organic formulas you can trust without slow-boating them over from Europe, you guys. So whether you're combo feeding, exclusively formula feeding, or you just want a backup for those just-in-case moments, Bobbi is our go-to trusted choice.
48:42I love knowing that Bobbi sweats every detail of quality, every ingredient, every test, every can, so we as parents don't have to. Every single batch goes through over 2 ,000 safety and quality checks, plus third-party testing for heavy metals before it ever leaves their U.S. facility, which is so important because as a parent, you do not want to have to stress about the little things. It's so nice knowing that they do it for you. Bobby was named a top choice by Consumer Reports after third-party testing for chemicals and heavy metals. It's trusted by parents and loved by over 700 ,000 babies.
49:15If you want to feed with confidence too, head to HiBobby. that's high Bobby, B-O-B-B-I-E, to find the formula trusted by parents and loved by their babies, 700 ,000 and counting. Yeah, so to me, I'd break this down to a few parts. Like one is on the athletes. Each of these athletes has such unique, unbelievable stories. Yes. Right? And I feel like there's a lack of resources being given to the athletes around - Storytelling. Around helping them tell their stories. Like too much of it is falling just on the athlete to do it. And it's like NBC, like why didn't this storytelling start a month ago?
50:01Like I haven't seen anything. There was no hype up into the Olympics. So it feels like whatever their social strategy is just isn't working in from a pre-hype perspective and also from an athlete storytelling perspective. The second thing on social is their event recaps are terrible. They're showing like the last eight seconds of a race. Like there's no pre build up into the race, the start, like the highs and the lows and the finish. Like when it showed the amazing Dutch speed skater. Jetta. Jetta. Jetta. Jetta. Jetta. they showed the last five seconds of her race the only reason that was like what she just said an olympic record and and i got five seconds of it the only reason i got five seconds of it was because of logan paul jake paul jake paul because his insta story and i was like oh my gosh you set the record like otherwise and it wasn't on anyone's radar that story right there Like it's such a great story.
51:10He, you know, obviously just told on her channels, told on his channels, like feels like the main networks just have not latched on to that the way that that they should be. It's like they're fighting it because it's a it's from the creator world as well. So one, I think they dropped the ball in the build up to I think the event recaps are terrible. And then the big one for me on where they're completely dropping the ball is when it comes to the actual live viewing, you have no idea when you need to be watching and where you need to be watching. It's just this consistent stream of events. You don't know what's live.
51:53You don't know what's preliminary. You don't know what's metal. So here's my suggestion for them on the TV front. I think they should have two channels. Okay. I think channel one should just be what they're doing now and 24-7. Okay, live streaming. Just the 24-7, what's happening with the Olympics, the recap. So if you just want it on in the background or you just want to tune in, opportunities can be had. I think they need a new channel for marquee events. And the marquee events are, one, what they built hype into, and two, it's for the viewers like us where it's like, this is the one event or three events to watch a day.
52:30and I get the timings are off because it's in Europe but like they've got a showing over breakfast, a showing over lunch and a showing in the afternoon. But it would be cool if everyone knew when's that Canada game you're going to watch? 2.30 on Friday? Yeah. Like if there was some huge thing that we were all going to watch 2.30 on Friday and like everyone almost was like at their desk at work like watching it on their phone. Like here's the today's daily spotlight. Yes. And like if it's during if it's at 3 o 'clock they can call it the happy hour spotlight. Totally. If it's at the morning, they call it the breakfast spotlight.
53:02If it's at lunch, they call it the lunch spotlight. Got it. Like they're – do you want me to keep going? Well, you're going to have – give me a winner. All I'm saying is they are killing me because the Olympics – They're awesome. I think they're the best sporting event in the world. And I assume viewership numbers have absolutely collapsed because NBC has not gotten with the times. I agree. Is this rant going on too long? No, the only lead up I saw was that they had like these 30 influencers that were going to be like special NBC correspondents. Like Riley Arnold was one. I haven't seen. She's not there.
53:35But talk about talk about like not the move. This isn't for influencers. This is for the athletes. The athletes are the influencers. I was going to say the same thing. The athletes are fucking awesome. Every Olympian I've ever met, like their dedication to the craft. Pardon? How many Olympians have you met? Like not like enough. Okay. Enough. But like I have a friend who sailed for Canada in the Olympics. Okay. And I have a friend who rode for Canada in the Olympics. And the commitment to these guys' craft is truly unbelievable. Well, Olympian is the highest. They need more of a, like, the resources being given to them on storytelling just, like, isn't there.
54:24And then I think where it sucks is the knock-on effect is then, like, the follow-on endorsements aren't there. I think it could use, listen, I don't actually mind if they send influencers because I think we just need to accept in this day and age that that would create more buzz around it. But the other area where I think they really missed was our opening ceremony outfits were sick. I did not know what they looked like until I Googled them yesterday. Why did I not have one of those? Like they were sick. 10 out of 10 Ralph Lauren on those. They were gorgeous. Tasteful. Like you guys Google them if you haven't seen them.
55:00Beautiful. I didn't see them one time on my feed. Anywhere. Anywhere I didn't see them. Yeah. I think that they're just trying to control the storylines and the distribution too much. and they're missing the natural virality that's built into these things. It's almost like they need to open the floodgates. They just need to release control and let it go crazy. Yeah. Because I think that people are so interested in it. Yeah. From A to Z, we're missing a great opportunity. This should be the most exciting two weeks of television. And did a guy cheat? This is not where I was going, but there's a pretty, pretty hilarious video going around.
55:45Did a guy cheat? Have you not seen this? No, but no. Okay. So this is really funny. It's been very viral on Twitter. So this guy who came third in some form of cross-country skiing event, during his post-race interview, he um he made like a he basically went into a very emotional uh speech about how six months ago he met the love of his life and three months into the relationship he cheated on her and how he was using his platform following winning to try and get her back and to confess his love and i believe He said, I'm here to commit social suicide to try and get her back. I thought you meant he cheated in his sport.
56:41No. No, but apparently this – now what I saw on Twitter, so take it with the Twitter lens, is this guy also had a pretty similar apology last year. Shut up. When he set off, I guess he does the cross country where you shoot the gun. I guess apparently he set off the gun in the apartment and he had a pretty emotional set of a mistake. So I don't know. He is a thing for public apologies. So you cheat and he owned up to getting the cheating and then he uses global platform to own the mistake. What do we think? We're talking about him. Yeah, I mean, listen, are you saying what do we think if we're her?
57:28Yeah. I mean, it could be the most romantic thing ever. I do just think you have to know his character. Is he just kind of obsessed with the fame moment and he's just saying that because he can't have her and he wants to do anything to get her and then he's just going to lose her again and cheat on her? Or is he dead serious? Like, I don't know. I don't know. Does he have a, like, do you know what I mean? Olympians are fierce competitors so is she not letting him come back and he's like watch me get you back so he goes to the highest platform he can just to get her back okay so she only this is between her and God she knows him does she know if she gets back with him he's just going to fuck around again I would like to talk to her does he have it in him?
58:18Apparently Priscilla sent me something before this that the news has spoken with her and she says it hurts to be in this position that's the headline that's a good comment because it would hurt to be in that position yeah that that's hurtful that's hard interesting well i don't know i just you got to know him who i don't know yeah so it's difficult yeah it's difficult to say are there any events you're looking forward to hockey because i know you're looking forward to it what are you looking forward to hockey um hockey and uh storylines that i don't know exist because they haven't been told to me by nbc correct i completely agree like tell like how so in the who knows about eileen goo do you know who eileen eileen goo is no okay no i mean it's perfectly proven the guy that did the the back.
59:21Yeah. Female skier. Okay. The highest paid Olympian at the athlete is a skier named Eileen Gu. Okay. She's American. She competes for China. She goes to Stanford, big Red Bull athlete like, uh, gets, so she's number one. I think she gets paid 24 million a year. And then number two is Austin Matthews, the, uh, the hockey player. Like it just, I guess I'm probably over, over, overplaying my point here. Like, give me the storylines. Where's the Eileen goo? Where's the spotlight? 1:03:03That's a humble, it's a humble job. Not everyone can do it. Like, yes, except when you're being chirped. I know that word too. I know that one. All guts, no glory. Okay. Let's go to, I mean, there's just some of the things we can go to. In the comments will be the first section that we skip to. And going back to the baby shower, because a lot of people had a problem with that I said, I feel like I can go off registry. I want to, I want to number one, say, I still feel like I can go off registry. I think that I killed my off registry gift this past weekend. Number two, I want to clarify. I like to go one on registry gift, one off registry gift, because sometimes you get really sweet things that you didn't think of if you go off registry.
1:03:52For example, my favorite off registry gift I got was hand and feet casting when they have their little hands and you put them in the little cement and it like molds to it and then you get to keep it forever. So that was my off registry gift that I gave. And then my on registry gift that I gave was an outfit that she had registered for. Now, other off registry gifts that I think are so good. I have these little pouches that go in my diaper bag and they're monogrammed adorable and like you're not going to often register for those but you're going to use them all the time so something that's monogrammed i think is just like precious but i did see and we got to admit when we're wrong i did see a lot of people saying i have 75 blankets we also have 75 blankets that were all off registry if you're going off registry don't miss the mark i agree that's the key because and i'll take like i'm prepared to take the heat for this like registry it's too transactional it takes the specialness out of the gift well i think that you can add something like at that point you might as well just send the money no no add a special touch though do add a special touch 100 i think that's a great thing you gotta add a special touch i'm very pro registry with the special touch but you need the special time especially if you if If you like a great gift to give is the stickers Maria just gave us that are monogrammed names.
1:05:14Great gift. Fun. If you know the name of the baby, phenomenal. My cousins gave us little newborn onesies that said like daddy's girl, mommy's girl that they had monogrammed because we didn't have our name yet. That was really cute. So I do think a special touch off registry is welcome. Yeah. What shouldn't you get off registry? Blanket. a commodity something that something that you get a lot of now that said i love the blankets we've received i love them all oh me too i actually love them all but the other the other thing like that i love off registry is outfits because they were always cute i'm gonna kind of like push back and retract that statement i love blankets i love blankets i think it's a great gift but people are saying to go off registry is rude because like people don't want random junk around their house and i agree that's why it doesn't need to be big but but it needs to be thoughtful no but i think you gotta have the confidence to say i know i can go off registry and i know they will love this yeah i think if you're buying random crap from the store like a stuffed animal they have a million of but i also think it's it's part of the the relationship that you have with the person i think that a lot of time when you're getting someone a gift like you want you want there to be a special component to it so i just i just think you need to marry the too.
1:06:33I love an off registry. Nailed the gift. I love it. Yeah. One of my friends did give me a stuffy and it says Tate on it. It was monogrammed. Adorable. Another adorable gift. A step stool with their name on it that they'll use in the bath or they'll use to step up to brush their teeth. Adorable. There's so many adorable gifts that you don't register for. A pillow with the name on it. Adorable. Yep. Really good gifts. Yep. So I think that I stand by my off registry. purchases in fact I love them I think both sides of the equation are very important we've gifted a duna because we're like that's a killer item that like you do you have to know your relationship with somebody but a lot of our friends first birthdays are coming up and I'm getting very excited about those because I feel as though since Tate's been one you know she turned one I kind of know what they're doing in that area and I'd love to give some Y bikes I'd love to give some cowboy boots um trampolines I think all those are really good I mean those are big gifts but these are like our best friends kids so just something to think about but yeah that was in the comments another thing in the comments was we went out to eat and I made a video of like our outing and Tate was sitting on the table and people were like I cannot believe the baby is sitting on the table somebody else has to sit on the table after I mean there's this whole dialogue going on in there and number one if anybody wants to to take tate out to eat and try for an hour to get her to sit in the seat versus sitting up she's so happy sitting on the table she loves it she feels like she's at our height the other thing that i always do is i go over i went i the guy came over to bust the table and i gave him a 20 and i was like hey she sat on the table and he wiped it down I think people sneeze on tables all that like I personally I don't I don't have a problem with this her sitting up there well it's like she starts every meal in in the chair she starts every meal sitting but she climbs on the table and it's a much more enjoyable meal and less disruptive when she's sitting there versus if she's like, you know, restless in her seat.
1:08:55I also think like this is why we eat out with her so rarely now because like it isn't, it's just like, you know, the first 12 months of her life eating out was so smooth. And now, you know, she's very particular about what she wants. And so I think in certain settings it works. and then I think in other settings, like obviously it doesn't. Yeah, and I also think, listen, we always try to be respectful of the environments and the tables and cleaning up after ourselves. I just think you got to pick your battles and like her sitting on the table, I don't have a problem with. So if you see us out at restaurants, there's a chance you're going to see the tater totski sitting on a table.
1:09:36And it is like venue dependent and like that isn't the optimal choice. Yeah, and I just think, listen, like number one, we make sure the table gets clean. But number two, you guys got to think about what's happening at restaurants and ask yourself if you think this is seriously the grossest thing because it's just not. I mean, yeah, Bubber is very clean. Well, Bubber is clean, but also like you wouldn't want to sit in the corner of a restaurant all day and look at the things that go down on these tables, I don't think. Like that's why the health department requires people to bust tables once somebody gets up and like they have to clean it.
1:10:13And like that's just I mean it's happening when you're boarding an airplane. I mean this is just this is just existing in public and like listen Bubber is is a 17 month old child who is significantly happier sitting on the table. And if that and I just think I mean and somebody commented like I didn't even see it. Did this get a lot of comments? No, it was just a dialogue happening in there. And like, I saw it going down and sometimes I don't even see it. And I happen to be online when somebody commented, these comments aren't checking or aren't passing the vibe check. And I thought, which comments aren't?
1:10:47So I clicked on it. And then I was like, oh, and I listen, I don't mind one bit when a little dialogue starts to go off in the comment section, but I was reading it and I thought, okay, interesting, like an interesting topic. Yeah, but I think it's important to own the situation of we'd much rather sit in the chair than on the table. I'd love her to. I'd love her to sit in the high chair. But the reality is coordinating that every time is hard. She won't sit in the high chair. Our number one goal is that we're there and everyone is happy and not being disturbed. And if that means that she's sitting on the table and we clean it after, come on.
1:11:24The people in there defending or people like I have a toddler like you don't get to pick. And I just think that sometimes it what would be nice is if people chilled a little. Yeah, but everyone knows their opinions. No. And listen, like somebody the other day commented, you know, Alex, there's the cords hanging down from our blinds, which we usually have up. But they were down in one of my videos. That kind of feedback. I'm like, you're exactly right. And I usually have the cords up. Thank you for that. and so I always you know I sit in like with the carrier people were like hey you know she needs to have her legs in an M thank you you know why is she sitting on the table with her shoes on just you know I don't know why do we do so many things that we do so that was one that I wanted to touch on to double down on um and say it's not ideal but as a parent I think you have to pick your battles and that is not one that we are picking.
1:12:23So you would have been mortified if you saw Winnie and Tate last night after dance class because they were in line at Cabo Bob's getting a burrito and there was a bunch of girls, a bunch of college age girls also in line and the girls were dancing and Bubber and Winnie were standing on the table dancing. I was waiting to see if you were going to talk about it. Yeah. And I was like, oh, TikTok wouldn't like this one bit. I was like, is someone going to take a photo of this? The girls loved it. no I just I want to get ahead of it girls are hyping them the girl we were like buy our tape buy our winnie and they were they were dancing and the girls were dancing and it was a whole big party in the Cabo Bob's line which is the equivalent of like a Chipotle the fair was all the firefighters were also in line it was a party in there and I thought you know what this I it would be a really cute video but I was enjoying the moment instead of making it but yeah if anybody ever takes a photo of Tate standing on a table out in public just know we know we know here's what I'll do.
1:13:18And I always do this. I carry sanitizing wipes with me. I'll wipe the table. There, know that your table's cleaner than I left it better than I found it. There we go. Solved it. Okay. Um, things we DM'd each other. So number one, Waymo, which Harrison's in a toxic relation. Listen, here's what I'll say about a Waymo today. Uh, you were inside getting a coffee and I was parked at a not so great spot and there was a Waymo trying to get through. And I felt completely confident knowing they're not going to hit me. The Waymo is not going to nick my car. And it didn't. And it made it through because it has sensors on all sides.
1:13:55Waymo, you guys, if you don't know, is an autonomous vehicle automated. They don't, they self-drive. Allegedly. Allegedly. Now here's the things that we DM'd. One of you all actually DM'd me this. So thank you. Waymo, the self-driving car employs human being operators to guide the vehicle so the video i watched is where what are the what are they doing when they're in those rooms and those guys is it some sort of like hearing yeah some some sort of like court hearing and basically it's the waymo head of safety is being questioned and the guy's like so let me get this straight you guys employ operators to guide the Waymos?
1:14:36And the guy's like, yes. And he's like, okay, how many of those operators are not in America? And he's like, I can't get you that number. And he's like, so as the head of safety, you don't know how many are in America and how many aren't in America. And he's like, some are in America. And he's like, what percent? And he's like, I'm not sure. I don't have the number on me. And he's like, so most of them are overseas. And he's like, yes. And he's like, trying to understand our traffic laws here. And the guy's like, again, I don't have the number. so it's interesting because you kind of need to be boots on the ground to know and and so and so they're dry like what are they what are these people doing are they actually driving the cars they were they were very vague about what they're doing they just said that they're guiding them through situations he did say like the cars are driving themselves but they're have these human operators that are guiding them so basically if the car stalls out it it transports to uh or like it'll tap in someone remote who and it'll help them navigate and to clarify it's not they don't have driver's licenses it's that they assume to not have driver's licenses in the u.s correct sorry their their driver's licenses aren't valid here so it's a little confusing like I couldn't operate somebody in London.
1:15:57Here's what I'll say about these autonomous vehicles. We just aren't here yet. And I still keep taking them. And I don't know why I keep taking them because I'm just in, I guess it is a toxic relationship with Waymo. So last time I got in a Waymo and haven't been in one since, I get in the car. it does a full um and and i want to put the screenshots out to just show how ridiculous this this path is so it it leaves our house drives a couple blocks and then just does it a circle around the block so just like a full random circle for no apparent reason then the loop continues and rather than take me to the hotel that i'm going it goes across the bridge leaves downtown, takes me there through the residential area, and then takes me back over the bridge.
1:16:56So I crossed two bridges. It was a 15-minute drive that should have taken six to seven minutes. I called support twice on the call. So I guess I was tapping into these safety people. And it was... Yeah, it was... Were they able to help you? No, no. They're like, this is the route, sir. This is just the route that it's going. No, it's not. I'm like, this is an insane route. And it was like, it wasn't during peak rush hour. So, oh, here's where I wanted to go. So the reason why I started taking Waymo's again is it sent me the notification. It's like, it'll be there faster. So I got in and I decided to sit in the front seat.
1:17:45And so I had a couple of great experiences with Waymo sitting in the front seat and you put the holes. I kept getting in the Waymo's in the back seat and there was no room. And then I realized, okay, well, why is there no room? Is everyone taking them in with four people? And, but then I realized, no, people are sitting in the front seat. So I sit in the front seat. I started having these great experiences. It's still really bad at stop signs. So it does like a double jerk. So it like stops too far back and then crawls up. I'm like, you know, I can deal with that if I'm in the front seat. But then ever since it turned me around on that last one and it did the circle and then took me across the bridge, I haven't been in one since.
1:18:20So we're just not there. We're not there. And it's not surprising to me that they're patching people in abroad to help with the process because like they don't work yet. They don't work the way they should work. But I said when one pulled up the day, I said, why do you keep taking those Waymo? So they're sending you a notification saying that the Waymo will be there four minutes faster than the other Uber. Am I understanding that right? Yeah, I started retaking them because I don't know. I want to, I like trust that the technology will prevail and I'm off of them for now. If we recorded this last week, I would have been back to being pro Waymo.
1:18:59So let me clarify. But now I'm off Waymo because we had that experience, but I'll be back on at some point. Did we talk about the zoeks the zoeks is those things look ridiculous okay i learned something new yesterday those aren't the like autonomous vehicles those are taking sorry those are like capturing data for zoeks and zoeks actually looks more like a train car and there's no driver's seat it's um like two rows of seats facing each other so you could take like eight people on a night out genius like a little bus and those are coming to austin i think like next year or something but the zooks cars that are going right around right now are collecting like the data okay that's great to know because they're ugly and that solves a big like to me that's a lot of what i think about is like why am i sitting in a traditional car right now if you don't have to be if you don't have to be like i love the idea so put the picture up they look really cool yeah very futuristic and i'm like down like we want to go to the houston rodeo and and like go with some friends i would take this zook i would zook there love it like i'd be like oh let's zook there love it yeah here's a good question i have on the waymos so you know how you can't get in the car with alcohol like if you get in a car with like a beer here the uber driver will be like hey no open container what a question if you get what a question in a zook you know and you have a who says something but you can have open container in like a like a sprinter van so maybe zooks or waymos but what about if somebody got have open container in waymo but who's telling you no the lord i don't know your conscience i think i think the point is are should the laws not be updated if it's an autonomous driver why can't you have alcohol in a vehicle i don't know i don't know well i don't know why if you're not driving if you have a sober driver or an uber driver you can't sit in the back seat and drink a beer but i know that you can't well i i understand that i understand that and why why i'm i think you're just creating a very clear line where there's no alcohol in the car when you're no open down okay okay that's fair that's great new orleans though you can i believe well you can walk outside i don't know if you can do it in a car i don't know either yeah but i do wonder what the laws will hold with alcohol and autonomous vehicles because that will be interesting, but I guess we're not there yet.
1:21:27Speaking of Jules learning about Zoox, other things that I learned this week. Okay. So this I saw on a Brat Busters clip. And basically she says, if your toddler starts to hit or to run there, they didn't just turn evil, right? Toddlers are actually hardwired to do four things, hit, run away, like Tate was running away from me in the airport, climbing on top of things and to tantrum. And she even - Things like tables? Yes, climbing on top of tables. She even says that some toddlers will tantrum and some toddlers just won't ever tantrum. But they are hardwired to tantrum. So don't think like, oh, I just have like a little brat of a child.
1:22:07You don't. It's just what they're hardwired to do. And they start to see if they can push the lines here, push the lines there, and then they learn. so to tie this back to last week's dr brown episode is i put this don't react method parameter into play where tate was sitting on my chest and she took her finger and just jammed it as like really really far up my nose and she like hit here and it started bleeding and i just like like rather than like grab my nose and be like oh no like i just held it in for like that 10 15 seconds just like didn't react just like slowly put her down went to the that hurt because per what she said it's like had i reacted and even just like ah wow like that tate that hurt so much, then she would have thought it was something to do again.
1:23:11Yes, exactly. So like not, you know, this whole idea of like embracing what they're doing and not reacting to it makes a lot of sense. And we're putting it into practice. And furthermore, to reward good behavior, because the Brat Busters girls also says, you know if they don't want to get in the car seat and they're tantruming you can't be so angry with them because that is a reaction so then totally they're like okay i can do it again instead of just being like just hold him over the car seat let him tantrum and then get him in the car seat but i thought what was interesting about what dr brown said was the reaction i think when people say reaction they default to think getting mad but per the the situation i just described the reaction is actually being hurt right and so it's it's controlling a multitude of a variety of different reactions to prevent the bad behavior from occurring well bubs is new thing i don't know it to you but she'll pinch she pinches my skin if i'm in a tank top time and it's just like not reacting to that i'm just like but but i saw yesterday in dance class she kept running over to the water bottles and i'd be like no tate those aren't your water bottles come back into dance class and then she thought that was a game so finally i was like okay we're not even gonna acknowledge her and i just went into dance class and i started dancing and when she saw that nothing was happening to her water bottle charades she came back over great call out great call out She loves those water bottles.
1:24:50The teacher was like, she's over there. And I was like, just got to let her do her thing. Yeah. Yeah. Patience. Okay, you guys. Well, that was an excellent episode. We love you guys. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we might have cracked the code on toddler mornings… and it’s not waking up earlier.
We’re talking 5am wakeups, third-trimester exhaustion, and the mindset shift that completely changed how we handle that first hour of the day. Instead of surviving it, we’re cooking through it. Eggs, repetition, more eggs, toddler “responsibility,” and why letting Tate crack the eggs might actually be the best parenting hack we’ve stumbled into.
From there, we rant about the glucose test (there HAS to be a better way), officially put the induction on the calendar, and share baby names we LOVE but WON’T be using (and why naming a second kid feels wildly harder?? Idk we just need to see the baby).
We spiral (naturally) into the Valentine’s Day debate: when someone says “no gifts”… do they actually mean it? Then get into our low-spend month competition with the neighbors (now accepting votes for who you think might win… spoiler alert: it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna be me), what I’m NOT buying this month but really want to, and then talk about a competition that ACTUALLY matters: the Winter Olympics. Harrison has a rant about why it’s somehow harder than ever to actually watch the Olympics. We also unpack the viral Olympian cheating apology and whether that was romantic… or just ?????
Then we hit the comment section: is going off-registry rude? are toddlers sitting on restaurant tables actually a crime? and are “self-driving” cars even self-driving?
We wrap with something that genuinely reframed our week: toddlers are hardwired to hit, run, climb, and tantrum. It’s NOT personal. It’s developmental. And how you react might matter more than what they do.
LOVE YOU GUYS. Thanks for listening 🤍
