In short
Pregnancy updates and pressure from weight-gain charts; toddler tantrums and pacifier weaning; whether dad should travel close to birth; plus a few pop-culture and “what we watched” recaps.
Guest backgrounds
No guests appear in the transcript; it’s hosted by two parents (Jules and Harrison).
Key claims
- Ignore pregnancy weight-gain charts because they add unnecessary pressure; weight changes include fluids/hormones.
- Pacifier removal is justified now: a speech therapist DM argues pacifiers can affect jaw development and articulation; weaning can start with daytime removal and keep it only for sleep.
- For tantrums, avoid rewarding them with attention; redirect and “start doing something different,” and if needed take the child outside.
- Dad traveling depends on mom’s comfort; for this pregnancy, Harrison will drive to Houston (about 3 hours) rather than fly.
Notable examples
- Baby gained 1 pound in 6 days; baby hasn’t “dropped” (OB says Jules’s hand fits below boobs/above belly; Harrison’s doesn’t).
- Pacifier “BB” was removed immediately; mornings were hardest until cheese distracted Tate.
- Tantrum example: refusing to put away a mini shopping cart; resolved by singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”
- Travel example: Spotify comment about Houston; they cite Scotty Scheffler canceling due to wife’s due date.

0:44Alright, let's get started, ready? Yeah, let's get the vibes right Vibes are good Are vibes good? Vibes are so good Really? Vibes are great Jules? Yep, ready? Let's just get into it It's going to be a fun episode Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast Today is a fun episode We just left the doctor The baby has gained one pound And I checked officially, we went last Thursday So he gained a pound in six days Which is a lot You know what we never talked about? Is that like, how much weight you're actually gaining Is just like not the baby, it's the water and the Fluids, yeah Fluids and the blah blah blah Right Right.
1:27Because like if he weighs six and a half pounds, like then, okay, I've only gained six and a half pounds. Like no, because you gain hormone weight, you gain fluid weight, you gain all this other. But what I am not on board for are these charts telling you how much you're supposed to gain weight wise. First trimester, second trimester, third trimester. No, those charts drive me insane because it's like you're actually allegedly not supposed to gain weight in the first trimester. in the first trimester if you're craving a bag of Doritos you have to eat the bag of Doritos or your body like attacks you if you if you decide you want a Arby's roast beef sandwich you got to get it like the only way out of the first trimester is through and then these dieticians put out these pregnancy charts and they're like well only gain a pound and it's like what we already have enough going on like the audacity i think i think that however anybody however much like i don't pay i don't get on scales when i'm pregnant because that's not the point and so i just think those those charts are adding a level of not comparison but adding a level of um what's the word like pressure yeah pressure that doesn't need to be there and they drive me crazy so if you see those charts please ignore them i've unfollowed people that have posted those charts because i just think if you're making the baby you're doing enough preach okay sorry for the tantrum off the top true or false no no sorry arby's is your favorite fast food joint it it used to be or was sorry yes true i would get the five for 5.95 i would get two roast beefs this is my order ask sydney five for 5.95 two roast beef sandwiches one apple turnover or cherry turnover if they had them one jamoka shake which would always hurt my stomach and curly fries and i would eat that before volleyball practice the curly fries okay so i've never had arby's oh well here's the problem wait sorry you two roast beef sandwiches the curly fries the shake and what else cherry turnover what's the cherry turnover would that be dessert yes okay oh that's like a pie yes okay with like It's like an apple strudel kind of.
3:44But the problem is then in college, I was like, I love Arby's. Let me try Arby's. So I went and tried it and I was horrified. It was nothing like I remembered. Like our Arby's had like – those sandwiches weren't flat. They were voluptuous. But I was the same way growing up with Wendy's where we would go and get the spicy chicken sandwich there. I thought that was a gourmet sandwich. And now when you go and have it, it tastes like cardboard. Well, and that's how it is with some of the high school restaurants I would go to. Like I remember when I, where did I take you? Oh, no, I'm not going to do that to Cattleman's, but.
4:19I love Cattleman's. I love Cattleman's too. Do you know what I really like? Eishens. Well, everyone knows I love Eishens. I don't like Eishens. I love Eishens. I like Brahms. Oh, I like Brahms. I like Brahms. But Brahms? I think Brahms is really good. But Brahms only has so many stores within, because they have to be close enough to their farm so their meat is fresh. So that's why it's a superior experience. Do you know that I've had Brahms every single time I've been to Oklahoma City? I did know that, yes, because I've been with you every single time you've been to Oklahoma City. Yeah, I've never missed a Brahms because we've missed one or two Aishens.
4:49Yes, because Aishens is harder to get to. Aishens is the fried chicken joint in Oklahoma, but it's like 30 minutes away from my house, whereas Brahms is a minute. You could walk. I want to tell everyone what we're getting into on this episode today. Well, you didn't ask about what my McDonald's order growing up was. Okay, and we're going to do that in a moment because why would I have asked that? because I asked you Arby's order why would I ask you McDonald's order you didn't mention McDonald's well I was a McDonald's guy growing up well then we have to know that that's part that has to be part of the thing okay so two McChickens and those were the hero of every meal totally one Big Mac whoa and then a 10 piece or a 20 piece nugget oh extra large Diet Coke now I think the most unique part of my order no fries and tell us about that why no fries because i love the sandwich i always felt that the sandwiches were better than the fries and i know people love mcdonald's fries but i always i was always a sandwich guy through and through people love mcdonald's fries and i guess to be clear that's my drunk order and oh well that doesn't count because my order this is right after school before volleyball oh but i don't think i've had mcdonald's not drunk in over a decade well then this isn't a one-to-one comparison yeah and not my my high school order that was actually i think i i was i got my words mixed up my high school order would have been something very basic a la a mcchicken meal because i lived and died by the mcchicken solely through high school and our mcchickens in canada are different than your mcchickens in the u.s ours are bigger and they're served on a sesame seed bun well the arch burger's on a sesame I think what's the arch burger that's all the rage these days I don't know what it is but it's arch burger all right I'm gonna we're gonna pivot out of this what do you mean what's the arch burger he's kidding the arch burger is the thing we've been talking about I don't think he is it was a totally joke oh yeah it just was bad like sometimes sometimes honey remember what I always say skipping right over our fight on the way back from the uh from the doctor and who was right because you're always right who's always right in the third trimester you're always right okay Good job, H.
6:56Good boy. All right. In this episode, you guys, we're going to talk about weaning off the pacifier, which is what's happening at our household, tantrums, because I've realized we've entered the tantrum stage and we haven't even talked about it. So we're going to talk about that. And then when should partners stop traveling before birth? Because somebody in the comments was like, wait, Harrison's traveling? And so we're going to address why he's traveling. We're just going to talk about travel. And then other things we're going to talk about, which I love this video, is the most annoying things that a dad can do in the delivery room.
7:30And then there's a video we're going to recap, which is we did these eight things when introducing our daughter to her new brother. And it worked really well. And so I think they're fascinating to go through. So we kind of have a jam-packed episode today. Harrison's fake being on his phone. because he knew. He made me so mad on the car ride here, you guys, that when we walked in, Jules and I both said, let's just not have that phone. But if people have their phones out right now, they can. And if you have your phone, because you guys are allowed to have your phone, you could subscribe, press follow on Spotify, and like the episode.
8:13And can I say, we're tracking the subscriber count, And a lot of you that listen aren't subscribed, but you are subscribing. We're noticing. So thank you for that very much. It doesn't go unnoticed. Thank you. Thank you. So we went to the doctor today and yes, we've gained one pound in six days. He has not dropped. And I asked my OB, I said, how do you know if the baby's dropped? And she said, your hand can, she just looked at me and she said, well, yours definitely hasn't, but your hand can fit nicely below your boobs, above your belly. and mine absolutely cannot. So he hasn't dropped. He's tucked right up there.
8:52He's hanging. It's crazy to think that he's almost the same weight as Tate when she was born. Yeah. He's six pounds, five ounces, and Tate was born at six pounds, 15 ounces. What in the world is this guy going to look like? He looks like his sister. Well, they said that today, but I would love him to look just like Bubber. He looks just like Bubber. We could tell from the profile because I remember Bubber's profile in her photos in my belly. and he looks, well, we have them. We have some of her so we can compare them, but he looks just like her. Yeah, I just, I. But he has a big belly. I don't understand the, like the way I read, what's it called?
9:28Sonogram. The sonogram. You guys are just so much better at that than I am. So when you say there's similar profiles, I just, I have no idea what y 'all are talking about, but I support. His belly's in the 90th percentile. You know what I think we should do right now? What? A little mid episode kiss just to show on good vibes. What? Yeah. Okay, we're going to shield them. Sorry for the PDA. Little vibe check. Sorry for the PDA here on YouTube. I'm just checking to see if I'm still in trouble. You're not. You're not in trouble. And I'm. Have we calmed down a little bit? Yeah, I was really riled up there for a moment.
10:02You really. You really got me. But yeah, no, we're definitely good. Yeah. Okay. So what we're going to do. Number one. let's discuss someone's Spotify comment is Harrison still going to Houston with the birth of his child so close bold wording there the birth of his child is so close just saw that pro golfer Scotty Scheffler canceled his participation in the Houston Open this week due to his wife possibly giving birth soon babies can come at any point at this time well ladies and gentlemen we do read your Spotify comments which is why it's good to subscribe No, here's the thing. We, Harrison is going to Houston because it's driving distance.
10:49And the first thing he said is, are you okay with me going? I said, absolutely. This baby's sitting up top, sitting comfy in there. And he can be back within three hours. Yeah, I actually do have a question. What? Because we did catch me telling you live for the first time. But no, no, no. But I knew you were going. I was down for you to be flying somewhere. Oh, because you knew I was gone. You cleared the day with me a long time ago and told me to have a friend come in town. Perfect. I thought you were going to LA. Yeah. I'm pleased. So my take on this initially was going to be like, ultimately, the most important thing is just what you feel comfortable with.
11:24Harrison, I was fine with you flying. Yeah. I would not. I'm not comfortable flying at this point. That is obviously different than with baby number one. um i think with this one it's it feels like actually i want you to go first before i say no i just listen all you can do is rely on your gut here and how you truly like how do you feel okay i was fine with you i thought you were going to la and i was fine could not have been more fine with that i think these babies are coming on their due dates yeah i'm just what i with the second baby, I feel like we've consistently heard anecdotes of one, how quickly they come and two, that they often come early.
12:08And so that is definitely at the forefront of my mind. And then when you overlay it with the outer responsibility of taking care of Tate plus, um, like you, you know, you being, you being tired and nine months pregnant, it, yeah, I wouldn't be more I wouldn't be comfortable being more than a drive away at this point and that's really a month out and I would backtrack that to last week so let's let's concise this so you don't think that dad should fly or you're not comfortable flying with a baby coming more than a month out no I think I think that it I actually think this is something that is very situationally dependent and I think that it all starts with what the mom wants and then I think everything gets backed out of there and so you've given the green light on this situation you gave the green light on on my travel around baby one and then i think it's up to the dad to adjust accordingly and even if you said okay you're good flying with me flying right now like i'm not i'm i'm not good flying at this point yeah and that that's really fair and that's nice of you the the thing between baby one and two so baby one you went to Chicago two weeks before I was due uh something like that yeah I was completely fine with it I just laid in bed it is different now because tonight like when you go to Houston I will be like chasing Bubba around and that is sorry that is harder on me but I don't mind I want you to be able to go because if you don't go now when are you gonna go and I want you to go for the things you're going for.
13:50I love when you travel for work because I'm really proud of you around work. I love when you travel for something like a race because I think that's important to you and your goal, like your literal goal this year was to get in good shape before the baby came and like you crushed it. You actually, you're so good at setting goals and keeping them so I'm good with it. To be clear, if you had any reservations on me going, I wouldn't go. This race is not important at all in the grand scheme of things. If I said don't go, you wouldn't go. I say go. But the race is more important than Scotty Shuffler's golf tournament.
14:20Yeah, that's what I was thinking. How far out is the Scotty Shuffler golf tournament? I did Google it. I mean, the tournament's tomorrow and his wife is due at the end of March, which is also tomorrow. That's like, yeah. It's apples and oranges, but. I'm doing the later part of April. Where I got to give him a lot of credit is he has been very outspoken about how much life matters outside of the golf course and how much he values family and how much he values the diversity in his life. And so there's just no better way to show that than with actions over words. And so I ultimately think that, one, it is awesome to see him doing this.
15:07And I also think it shines light on where his head would be in that tournament. Even if he could physically play, him just mentally not wanting to be there. Yeah, if I was due at the end of March and you were going to do a high rocks race, no. But I think people are confused when I do. I'm due. I don't ever, I don't like to say the real date of when I'm due, but I'll tell you it's after April 15th. So it's like a month out. And this was less than a month out. This is book. I can't handle it. I can't handle being a month out. I can't even handle saying a month out. Well, up at any point you need me back and back.
15:46Yeah, I just don't. I just do not need you back until I do. And you got a friend coming into town, which is nice. Yeah, no, I'm excited. And in the event that I need you back, you are a three-hour drive away. And I'm good with that. And as we learned, Ubers can whip you there. I was good with the flight away. So to me, we're just not in – can I travel? Absolutely not. Can you? I think I'm good with it right now. So I love that somebody asked that. But there's your answer. So we're in driving distance. Okay. Ever wonder why your prenatal vitamin stays the same when your body changes so much during pregnancy?
16:27And that's true, you guys. You've got the first trimester, second trimester, third trimester, the trying to conceive stage, and your body is not the same through all of those stages. Parallel is the first OBGYN-founded vitamin company. Each daily pack contains a comprehensive vitamin routine for your exact stage. So they've got trimester-specific formulas that can change with you from the first, second, and third trimesters. Their vitamin packs are stage-specific, so they even have a conception support pack to prepare your body for pregnancy. I actually have them right here, and this is my favorite thing about them.
17:01They come in individual packs like this, so if you're traveling, you don't have to take the whole bottle with you. You just take, let's say you're gone for three days, you take your three packs with you, you just rip it open, and you take your vitamins. Exclusive for our listeners, new customers can enjoy 20 % off their first order with code 2PARENTS. Visit ParallelHealth.com. That's P-E-R-E-L-E-L-H-E-A-L-T-H.com. So the next thing. I guess how comfortable would you be with me being in driving distance up until the birth? So let's call it Dallas, San Antonio, Houston. you can't forget like i i don't have a flair for the dramatics but i don't mind i don't i don't i don't need everything to be so orderly and how do i say this like i'm a i'm a lot more type b when it comes that stuff interesting yeah i don't need you to be I don't need the nursery is not done.
18:06You know, like don't mind that. If you if I my water breaks and you got to get here like that's kind of fun. I don't know. What a great attitude. Yeah, I don't really mind. Jules, can you look at flights to Vegas, please? Now that if you know, if that would be a different story. Actually, I still just honestly really wouldn't care. Okay. Taking away the pacifier. So a speech therapist. So I posted a photo of Winnie and Tate sitting at the, our counter and I was like, best day ever. Like these are the days. And Tate had her pacifier in and I received a DM from a speech therapist. And I want to read it to you.
18:51She says, speech therapist here coming in with advice. No one asked for great way to start your message. Time to take away the passy unless she is sleeping while awake. she does not need it in parentheses can use a stuffed animal for emotional support. In addition to creating a high platal arch, it causes jaw instability, weakness, and interferes with articulation development, speech sound development. Sorry for being that person coming from a place of love and support. Okay. Her name is Rochelle or Rochelle. I read that DM and I thought number one, you're a speech therapist. Number two, you have given me exact examples of why the pacifier should be taken away at this point.
19:38And number three, you ended it so lovely, just saying coming from a place of love and support. So guess what I said? I went to Harrison and I said, we're taking away the pacifier. I read him the DM. I said, this could not have been nicer. I love that she's got three reasons in here as to why we should take it away. No reasons for keeping it. She also offers an alternative give her a stuffy for love and support emotional support yeah but the passy's gotta go and guess what we did effective immediately texted maria i said no more passy and the passy and less tates asleep is gone so then i message our dear girl back and i'm like um i said i said you worded that so sweet thank you i've known we needed to take it away we will start tomorrow i'm so glad you said something thank you then i messaged her again i said wait when do we take it at night.
20:26She says, I don't know your bedtime routine, but I'd say after kisses, stories, and cuddles, it's fine to let her have it. Once she wakes in the morning, it can go in a special place just for the Patsy to stay and it can wait for her nap or her bedtime again. But what I was actually asking is when, at what age do we remove it? Then she says, eventually closer to two or two and a half, she'll be ready to wean from it completely. Then you can have a grand send off of the pacifier. That's when you can put it in the build a bear or something like that and i just thought this lady is lovely so that's what we're doing so h gets her up in the morning so i want to ask you how has the passy because i've seen her during the day um yesterday at dance for one moment she asked for her she calls her bb she asked for her bb and i just gave her a water bottle instead that was perfect and so i want to know in the morning though when you get her out of the crib and leave the pacifier in there How has she been doing?
21:23I think before I get into that, I want to just reflect on on how this all came about, because I think it's pretty interesting and probably pretty accurate of a lot of the parenting decisions we make. So this is just a great example. I feel like so much of parenting, you're given a range of when you should do things. And so we'd always known that, you know, call it from a couple months back up until two, at some point, the PASI was going to need to go. That's what we've heard. It's what Dr. Brown had told us, and so on and so forth. But it's always like, what's going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back and actually forces us to do that?
22:03And I feel like there's no consistency behind that. Sometimes it's a friend that convinces us. Sometimes it's our pediatrician. And other times it's just like a random, really well articulated DM. But either way, I always feel like it's one of us who buys into it and they go and they plant the flag, present it to the other person, and then the other person buys in. And so the whole way this came about I thought was fun but also a great reflection for how we are parenting style. Yes. You came to me with super high conviction. You showed me the message. I was like, all right, I'm into it. And I feel like vice versa, that's how it could have played out.
22:48Speech delay, like issues with articulation, done. Yeah. It's gone. And here's the thing. She's a speech therapist. What I can't stand, I love content in motherhood. We learn so much. We just, I mean, are you kidding me? Last episode, we were talking about play kitchen versus real kitchen. And then lo and behold, in the comment section, we learn both are good, right? So we learn so much from the internet. And we always get on here and we say, we don't know what we don't know. We're learning together. for her to come in and say, to not just be like, ew, you still have the passy? Like, ugh. And those are the comments that don't land because inherently you just, there's no substance behind it.
23:25There's no substance and like I don't even want to be your friend. This girl, I'm like, yes, ma 'am. It was very well articulated. So in terms of how it has been going, I think you nailed it during the day. The days have been very smooth so far, albeit we only have two. So morning one and taking it out, I definitely wasn't as thoughtful about it as I should have been. and so calming her took like a good amount of time what i did today was a lot more effective where the problem is is both of the past two days we've woken she's woken up with it in her mouth and usually she spit the patsy out and so i needed to take get out of her mouth so like today when i was taking she was fighting it out of the mouth so i gently got it out of the mouth and then I put it down and I was waving goodbye to it.
24:15Bye-bye. But she wasn't buying into it. She was very, very sad. But the difference between today and yesterday is like normally when we go downstairs in the morning, we like take time to figure out what we're going to make her for breakfast. And so yesterday I go downstairs and like we're standing in front of the fridge and I'm trying to be like, all right, Bob's, what do we want? And we kind of talk through some things. but she was just all she wanted was the BB versus today. I was like, all right, we're going down and we're going cheese. So I'm like, bye, bye, bye. And right when I went to the stairs, I was like, cheese, cheese, cheese.
24:53And then by the time we got to the fridge, pulled out cheese, she got the cheese and she was happy. She got distracted. Yeah. So she got distracted. So we're still early in. Like I think that the mornings, there's a bit of a, a transition time, nothing too crazy. I just need to make sure that I get her attention on something else right away. Obviously, no rocket science and anything I just said right there. But the days, she hasn't seemed to notice. Last night, she didn't notice at all. No. The night before, she didn't notice at all. Redirection is key, though. Yeah. Just distraction, having your Rolodex of distraction, whether it's wheels on the bus or the water or a snack.
25:36And I made a lofty presentation to you yesterday, which like, who knows how long this actually is. I don't want to talk about it until we've been doing it for a week. So why don't we do this? Okay. Because we did it last night. We're trying something for seven days, Jules. Can we please make note to hold us accountable to discuss it in seven days? Please. Sure. And I will try to remember - We did do it last night. Yeah. And we did it last night. And I've been doing it in the mornings. but the mornings are trickier. Yeah, just ask us in a week if we've done it because I don't want to talk about hypotheticals.
26:12And it's so lofty that I don't think we're going to do it. I think we can do it for an hour. I hope we do it. Well, I think we should just tell them what it is now at this point. No, no, no. No. Got to keep them coming back. We don't do clip hangers. And as a reality TV expert. I was going to say what we did do is watch the show. They're all into clip hangers. We did watch the show. And I did watch some Southern Charm. There you are. The baby's finally asleep. The house is quiet. And when an unwanted thought just comes in and crashes the party, did I accidentally hurt the baby and not realize it?
26:45What if I'm a terrible parent and everyone can see it, but me, what if I gave them bad milk? What if I this, what if I that we all know the feeling you guys, and that's where no CD comes in. We said on Monday, we're not positive we're going to watch it. What's it called? Jury duty presents corporate retreat. Yes. Yeah. So we watched two episodes of corporate retreat. I thought halfway through, I said, this isn't funny and I wasn't getting it.
28:09And then I caught myself really laughing out loud a lot. It's just not reality TV. So I think skit. I think we need to come up with buckets, which is bucket one is don't watch. Bucket two is put it on if you have some time. And bucket three is need to watch. Okay? Okay. I've got one for need to watch coming from the comments. Phenomenal. It's not reality TV. It's a show, but it's Paradise on Hulu. There's one season out and the other season is airing right now. And I think we had like five comments all about Paradise. Oh, down to try. Okay. Down to try. Why? This show to me, this jury, is bucket two, put it on if you have some time.
28:55It's very, very different, which is what I like about it. Like, it feels like, if you like The Office, I feel like you need to watch it. I agree with that. Because it's The Office, but with a bit of a unique spin. and where I do have to give it credit is in each of the first two episodes, there were two, three moments where we both audibly laughed out loud. Should we ruin one of them? No. Can we ruin one? No. No, you just have to remember one guy isn't in on the joke. And when you look at it through that guise, it's hilarious. And there's a lot of like subtlety things that you may or may not catch.
29:35Yeah. So it's, I don't know. For me, I'm going to say this. It sits in my – if somebody's like, I haven't seen it, I'd be like, I don't know. I'm not telling you. I'm not telling you you got to go watch it. Well, we created three buckets. What bucket today? I'm in between. I'm medium rare plus, so I'm kind of in between two. Okay. Should we create a fourth bucket? No. I'm allowed to be in between two buckets. I'm somewhere in between could watch and don't watch. Oh, wow. So you're skewed negative. Yeah. I'm not saying watch it. Yeah. I'm saying if you want to put something on in the background, like so, so be it.
30:08But if you put it on the background, I'm afraid you might hate it. Cause you will definitely miss this funny moment. And then you'll be like, what is happening? Yeah. Okay. Mid, mid, uh, mid episode break for, for some lips just to check if I'm in trouble. Harrison, I don't, they don't want to watch the lips. Okay. That was a good one. We've been doing group hugs with bubs, which is really cute. She loves them. Um, okay. So do you want to talk about Southern charm?
30:35uh do i want to talk about southern charm i don't really have anything on on southern charm right now okay i i think the one thing though that i was thinking about is how weird would it be to film something have a year go by and then have someone else edit it completely out of your control and so my big question with all these shows is how much of what they're filming actually reflects the true characters versus how much of it is the editing and making people look in a good light versus a bad light yeah because the the problem with these shows is also you've got the social media lens so like we already knew craig and page broke broke broke up broke we're broken up broke up like forever ago and then like you caught it on the show but like i i've known that for i don't know what a year yeah year and a half so it's funny like we also see this with the secret lives of mormon wives so much will happen on their tiktok pages and things like jesse's husband filed for divorce and we saw that in real time but we haven't seen that air on the show yes but what i did read about this today and when i say read what i saw on tiktok was i guess she said i want a divorce and he went to and he ran to the courthouse filed for divorce and then went to TMZ I guess she was on Call Her Daddy yeah and let me tell you what again I would take her side ring so true he is just and she dropped some stuff on escorts and cheating well you know she's got Jay-Z hairstyles I don't know what that means so she's got this hair empire she's been the breadwinner Jay-Z like the rapper well spelled letter J letter Z it's just the name of the brand that is very confusing she crushes it with this this hair company she also has her own extensions etc okay amazing and then now she's got her influencer deals and she's got her cast money Jordan doesn't have that so I don't know what happened in the last season but there were some questions on the prenup holding up or whatever and I just think him going and filing and then he filed a restraining order against her.
Read the full transcript
32:55I think she's just rolling her eyes. The restraining order I also saw in the video was rejected. As it should be. I think I saw a recap video.
33:05So here's my question, a little hair update. I know my hair looks terrible today because I didn't have time to style it but I did get it cut yesterday. Yeah. And I couldn't find my guy and then I finally got him. He like wasn't showing up on the booking and you know how I like my hairstylist? Yes. My guy, my barber. Yes. And he's leaving. He's starting his own salon. Good for him and love an entrepreneur. I booked my next appointment sitting in the chair. Okay. His name is Dustin. Okay.
33:33And I asked him why I was leaving and he said that because they don't let him do like coloring for women and hair extensions for women. So I guess he also does woman's hair because he worked at this like real classic barber shop. Would you give him a try? I would need to see, because there's a big difference between somebody that specializes in blondes and brunettes, so I need to see his blonde portfolio. He does blondes. I need to see his blonde portfolio. I need to see what kind of blonde we do, and then, yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I really like him, and I think he would do very good woman's hair.
34:06But - He could even maybe do Jenny's hair. Hold on. Here's what I - Jenny's at the salon right now, everyone. No, she's back. She's back. Oh, she's - Four hours at the salon for Jenny. Good life. Good life for Jenny the dog. I have to say this about Katie Moore, because she does my blonde right now here in Austin. and she's coming to our house this Saturday. She preemptively was like, you need your hair done before you give birth. Like I do, I love my blonde girl right now. Well, guess when I booked my next haircut? When? The day before you're getting induced so I could go to the hospital with a nice haircut.
34:33I think that's really nice of you. I like that. I like that. I also had a, okay, fun little topic for me. I had a Russian manicurist come to our house yesterday and I gotta say so far, I mean, we're only one day in. So the reason I, sorry, The reason I got a Russian manicure was I was going to my regular place and getting dip. And this didn't happen to me so much with Tate. My hair is growing like crazy and my nails, truly they were grown out in six to seven days. So I'm trying this Russian manicure to see if they'll last longer. But everything on me like growing like crazy. This is so much nicer.
35:11I just got rid of the pillows. Was she Russian? No. I thought she was. No. And our power went out. So I actually had to do it at the neighbor's house. because our whole street's power went out, which is why our clock was messed up the other day, by the way. I was on a call and I had the call on speaker and then the power went back on and the TV came back on and the TV was just blaring cricket. Like crickets or cricket? No, cricket the sports match. And the announcer was just screaming and I think it was India versus Pakistan and it was just a guy said, what is going on at your house? I said, we got India-Pakistan in the background.
35:49Have you seen Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart commentating the equestrian match at the Olympics? And Snoop's like, oh, the horse is crip walking. That's very funny. I get that video like four times a week and I always watch it all the way through. Everyone I know is talking about GLP ones and it's probably the same for you too. And if you were thinking about trying them, but then you remembered, oh, I prefer to keep needles as far away from me as possible. and you prefer natural options over injections, well, good for you. Okay, I also happen to have it sitting beside me right here.
37:06So if you're thinking, what does this look like? It's truly as simple as this pill bottle right here. there's no injections none of that you guys so make the switch to glp1s the natural way head to veracityhealth.co and use code 2parents for up to 60 off your order once again that's veracityhealth.co for up to 60 off and make sure you use our promo code 2parents so they know i sent you so a lot i put up a question box yesterday and i was getting a lot of questions about if we're in the tantrum phase and it's funny i actually had to ask harrison i was like do you think we're in the tantrum phase because i never know if we actually are we are officially in the tantrum phase and i don't think so what i asked you this last night i know but why don't you go and then i'll go oh because i don't think so i think that it's going to get so much worse right now our tantrums are 15 to 20 seconds they are like i can't recall even like she rarely ever goes past a minute she she can be deflected so easily right now i don't think that's going to be the case in call it at some point in the next six 12 months maybe you could be correct and i definitely don't think a sibling is going to help right like maybe that will throw a grenade in things but the the tantrum I can think of right now, an example, was when her and I went to the store and we had the mini shopping cart.
38:34We walked around the store, we got our stuff, and then it was time to put the shopping cart up. And I mean, we just fell to the floor. We were like, I don't want to do that. So I picked her up. I carried her outside. But then I put on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. And we did, we moved on. And did that last more or less than 60 seconds? I don't know. Because when you're in it, you're like sweating. You know, you're like, oh my gosh. I don't know, 45 to a minute. Yeah. so we're like okay okay we're lightly in tantrum phase and we don't know if it's going to get worse can we say we'll just be very transparent with you but a lot of people were saying what do you do about it and i posted this that i refer to bratbusters i love getting parenting advice from somebody who has grown children and studies like she she's a what she's well pedigreed and so what What she says to do with tantrums is you don't reward them.
39:26You don't, you just start doing something different. So a lot of times all starts singing the wheels on the bus, go round and round. And then Tate will see that I'm doing that. But what we're not doing is picking her up, trying to calm her down. Like we're kind of letting her do her thing. And then we're moving on and we're not addressing it. Cause if we get on her level and we're like, Hey Tate, I know that that was really overwhelming. Like she doesn't understand. yeah i i it's funny you i feel like you've been more more thoughtful around this than i have i feel like what i do is like if i see her getting she is so interested in so many things that whenever i see her getting upset i just try and find something else that she'd be interested in yeah you you go for redirection yeah as long as we're not giving cheese cheese queso cheese Cheese.
40:16Cheese. Cheese. And then the bye. Oh, one noteworthy thing. She's starting to put two words together. I know. It's so fun. So now, instead of just doing uppy, she goes uppy bears. Because I say uppy bears. Uppy bears. And we're really learning like please more. Please more for everything. Please twinkle, twinkle, little star. Please play wheels on the bus. And if you're not. online or if you're not on youtube i was doing sign language identifying people so yes she really knows like me me winnie dadda mama tate bubba tate who wears tate tate but maria said her name is easy for kids to say um okay on the tantrum thing though we we are experiencing them yes they are hard in public because you just want to start sweating they are inevitable every parent knows that.
41:14And I think that our way of handling them right now, Harrison, we do, we do both try the redirect, but sometimes that doesn't work. And I think when that doesn't work, it's very just like, we just let her do everything, let her do it, start doing something different. And then she can catch onto that. But what the brat busters girl says is if you reward it and rewarding, it can be getting down there saying, stop crying, like giving them attention in that moment, they will keep doing it. But if you're not paying any mind to it, she says just like you're waiting on the bus. Like you're just waiting on the bus.
41:47Yep. Makes sense in theory, the reality of how that actually works in a major tantrum. I'd be curious to shake out because we have not experienced that yet. But she says if we're in a restaurant or something, we should be taking them outside. We don't let them tantrum there. We just take them, we just carry them outside. Bobby Bear. And then we can wait on our bus there. Yeah, the most confusing thing for her and one area where I see her get really upset That is her not being able to delineate between – because we eat all the same food as her. So when we are eating something that she's not allowed to eat a la a coffee or an alcoholic beverage and then she gets really worked up.
42:24And so deflecting to another drink, that is – always got to be ready for it. She thinks coffees are smoothies. It's just better to keep the coffees away from her. Iced coffees. she does not understand why she cannot have our iced coffee because she thinks it's a smoothie what it's not um yeah so so we're in there um with you guys because i think a lot of you are in it too some of you were saying like i'm dying in the tantrum phase i i do agree with you though like ours aren't so bad maybe with maybe they're gonna get worse maybe maybe number two will be worse like I do think it just boils down to it but we don't pay much mind to it and then you just kind of move on and then they see that and I think it becomes I think they see that that tantruming isn't going to get rewarded and then hopefully the idea is they do it less all right shut up prep busters always I just love her videos I think she's a wealth of knowledge um okay let's see what else we want to talk about oh Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special I just wondered if it's like all over your guys' for you Paige and me I've never seen an episode of Hannah Montana what?
43:37that's not weird though I wouldn't have been able to tell you 48 hours ago that Hannah Montana was Miley Cyrus okay that's jaw dropping I'm not surprised you haven't seen an episode why would Hannah Montana be on my radar? It's just like a cultural phenomenon Yeah it was a massive Not for guys I don't grow up watching Hannah Montana Can we call one of your guy friends and ask them Who played Hannah Montana Yeah they're gonna have no idea Well you have to call one that I have their number Okay So that leaves Alex Cost Can you just look at my text quickly Here No your phone's over there Call him up ask him He's gonna have no idea I think I think Um Um Who else Have you not just seen like Every single Food brand Like Elliot He would know that Jamie No idea I'm just in shock right now Jay No I I've seen These are phone numbers I have Uh Jay probably wouldn't know The Uh What was I saying Like I saw the meme Over the past 48 hours That's why I say, like, I now know what's going on.

Experience the craft behind the comfort and make every day feel intentional. so okay so it's not if it's not something that you want to talk about i think we should no i mean let's talk about it if if you have something to say i don't my only experience with like when i hear miley cyrus it's that robin thick song and i was at the vmas when she wore that wild outfit like that's and like you know that that was just so much more intense because she was hannah montana yeah see i don't i thought it was like this woman makes amazing music like that wrecking ball song was fire fire all of her music is fire the climb fire i will say so funny enough on miley cyrus the i got tiktok a video of her singing madonna's i think living on a prayer that's fun that's Bon Jovi.
47:07Bon Jovi. That is very embarrassing. It was a Madonna song. Like a... Or... Oh. You know what I'm saying. Like a something. Like a virgin? For the very first time. Yeah. No. No. Well, Google her. When You Call My Name, it's like a little prayer, whatever that song is. Phenomenal. She's so good. Vocal powerhouse. And I was thinking at that point, I was like, we are due for another Miley album. I know. I think Miley's doing her thing right now, though, and then she'll give us more. But I think we'll get an album, and I think we'll get like a Taylor Swift level tour. I would love it. Oh, I would love it.
47:41Do you think she'll draw football stadiums? No. And like I'm OG. On her next tour. No. Really? Really? Yeah. Oh. And I'm like OG Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana. Like that was my original like hyper fixation. That's so surprising to me. I would have thought that she would have been in that tier. I would think Miley for sure is football stadium. Because I think that she would set like when I look at like the HIV center here, I think she'd sell that out in a snap. Because like Beyonce's doing Beyonce can do football arenas, right? Not a lot. Yes, but not a lot of people can. Taylor Swift obviously can.
48:16She can do arenas, I think, but it's just not Taylor Swift level by the Morgan Wallen can do. Yeah. Morgan Wallen did his his his tour with football stadiums. Her music just isn't the level of of Taylor Swift. I'm not comparing her to Taylor Swift. Whoa, whoa, whoa. But I am thinking that if she launches a new album, do I have her side by side with Morgan Wallen? Absolutely. No. She's been launching new music. Let's do Spotify monthly listeners on them both. I promise. She's been launching. I thought, and this shows how out of tune I am, I thought that she hasn't dropped an album since that Wrecking Ball album.
48:53Oh my God, no. And I'm like OG Miley Cyrus. No, flowers. I can buy myself flowers. That one. She did that. Does Bieber do? he does football arenas if he went on tour. Well, he hasn't toured in a long time, but he absolutely will. Okay, so Miley Cyrus, how many monthly listeners do you think she has on Spotify? Less than I thought. How many? 53.8. Million. Million. Okay. Give us Morgan Wallen. This is a playlist. Hold on. Hold on. Morgan Wallen is 33 million. What? He's less. 36.2. Bad Bunny. He's going to be way bigger. I assume Bad Bunny is 111.2 Yeah I assume that Well we gotta do Taylor Just for context here Bad Bunny is one of the Taylor Taylor is 102.7 Now it's to Beyonce But I'd assume that she has Beyonce is 54.2 so her and Miley are even Hmm That's interesting I'm a fan Yeah I would have thought So my favorite live concert ever is probably Beyonce.
50:03I loved the Beyonce concert. I saw her in Jersey. I've seen Miley Cyrus in concert eight times. That's a lot. The reason that I brought this up that I thought you guys would appreciate is like the Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special like didn't exist. And she just started promoting it online. And then everyone got really excited about it. And then Disney green lighted it. So she's just like, just promote stuff. If you want something to happen, just start promoting it. I'm so confused. That is so cool. You just lost me. So it's the 20th anniversary right now. Yes. And what happened?
50:38There's like this big special that was filmed. Okay. And put on Disney Channel. Okay. It didn't exist. And she just started promoting it. What do you mean it didn't exist? They weren't doing it. They weren't doing a special. Okay. So they weren't doing a special. Yes. You just said they were doing a special. They weren't. And she just started promoting it. She just started promoting a special that didn't exist. and then everyone got so excited about it that Disney had to make it happen. And I thought you guys would appreciate that mindset. I do appreciate that. Love it, love it, love it, love it.
51:06I'm all about that. Yeah. And then like everyone showed up. Everyone showed up and she's spilling tea. The main thing that we learned is that she dated a Sprouse twin. And we didn't know that before. You know Sweet Love of Zack and Cody? I have no idea who the Sprouse twins are. What? Cole and Dylan Sprouse? Okay. Those sound like fake made up names. Sweet Life of Zack and Cody? They were Zack and Cody. So the Sweet Life of Zack and Cody, like I have definitely heard that, but I remember hearing that because one of my friend's younger brothers would watch the show. Yeah, I guess these are more my generation.
51:43Me too, Jules. I watched these. I watched Hannah. Yeah. I just never watched Disney. Did you watch Nick? Cartoon Network? Yeah. What were you watching? what were you watching do they have i watched magic school bus i watched arthur i watched arthur hannah montana's for like 12 year olds not for magic school bus age i feel like at 12 i was probably watching shows for 14 and 15 year olds because of my sister so i feel like at that point i was watching friends like did you watch lizzie mcguire no i rocket power no never heard of it and i watched the movie for rocket power oh my gosh wow i have seen every friends episode I can probably confidently say I've seen every Friends episode twice I haven't seen they're just like not comparable at all yeah that was crazy but that's what I was watching in like grade 8 and grade 9 and grade 10 oh I was watching Lizzie McGuire oh we were obsessed I mean I'm going to the Hilary Duff concert and it takes a lot for me to go to a concert okay I'm moving this on I'm a big pop culture guy yeah big pop culture guy you're more into Southern Charm than you were Lizzie McGuire and that's okay I've got three weeks of Southern Charm under my belt.
52:56That's more than you do with Lizzie McGuire, so. You gotta log into Disney Plus. Just rip these shows. Rip them. Oh, the movie? I should watch it. What I'll say about Hilary Duff, because I'm very familiar with her name, so I must have listened to her music growing up. Because I remember when... No? Hilary Duff's iconic. Did she not make music? No, no, no. She did, but like... Not as... Her music as compared to like her in television. Television is the... Was she Mean Girls? No, that was Lindsay Lohan. What's going on with that comeback? It's phenomenal. Lindsay Lohan? Oh my gosh. So that was a win?
53:35Yes. And why? She got sober. She's a mom now. Is she making - She's Aisha Curry's best friend. Aisha Curry, Steph Curry's wife, is the godmother of her child, I believe. And is she making - Free Gear Friday 2? Or music? Is she movies or music? She's movies. Movies. Is she making movies? She was in like that, not cheesy, it wasn't cheesy, Lindsay, but I watched it because you were in it. It was a Christmas movie. Yeah, I think, I don't remember what it was called. She was in two, back-to-back years. She was making like Christmas movies in Freaky or Friday 2. She's doing a light comeback. She's doing a light dabble comeback.
54:12She doesn't need the movie money. Well, and here's the thing most importantly, nor do I think she wants to. I think that she had a quote where she referenced like her childhood wasn't exactly what she wanted for it. I think fame for her, she's trying to step away from. I think Hollywood wasn't the best for her. And so I think that this new life is kind of motherhood era. And I think she's married to like a prince or something. I think so too. Do you know who my number one crush growing up was? Amanda Bynes? Amanda Bynes. That one. I pray for that girl I pray for her as well because that is shoot that one's that's hard to watch but Hillary never had that moment Lindsay did but came back from it and Amanda we're still watching in that moment and I'm hoping we have we have a comeback from Amanda the number one show I was addicted to in high school is Jackass yeah I watched a couple episodes of that.
55:18There's nothing I loved more than Jackass. There's nothing that made me laugh more than Jackass. I liked Sweet 16. And some of those guys are starting to, you're starting to see them do some content. Johnny Knoxville is kind of making the circuit. He's in, but those guys, a lot of them are in really rough shape. Is that Stevo? Stevo, interestingly enough, is like kind of feels like he's in the best place. Yeah. Of all of them. bam argera is in like a very very very scary place that's sad yeah but i think that i think that he um i think he was especially rocked with everything that went down with his best friend ryan dunn and what was that he died tragically in a car accident oh that's really sad yeah yeah that'll happen it'll rock you i my favorite trend right now on social media is the is it iris by the Goo Goo Dolls?
56:15Where they say, what were you like in the 90s? Yes, great trend. Oh. Have you not seen these? No. What? Jewels. I don't think so. Snoop Dogg did it. Shaq did it. What's his name? Kevin Costner's was probably my favorite. Well, I've also noticed a lot of the people doing it, it's not even from their accounts. Yeah, which is great because somebody did Amanda Bynes and the most liked comment on it was, thank you for giving up your childhood so I could have mine. Which is really sweet. Oh, that's very, very powerful. It was very powerful. You guys know I'm obsessed with magnetic me and I have been stocking up on it for this new baby boy because think about this.
56:52You're exhausted. You're up at 3 a.m. changing a diaper. Your baby is wiggling and squirming in the dark. And I always say changing a newborn is like changing a cat. And you just want to get everyone back to sleep as soon as possible. And that's where if you truly had to snap clothes and line them up and then snap them close, it would be so sad because you would wake yourself up. You'd wake your baby up. Instead, there's magnetic closures that truly makes changing time so much better, which is why I'm obsessed with Magnetic Me because these outfits use magnets instead of snaps, buttons or zippers.
57:26You just line up the closures and you're done in seconds. Magnetic Me makes dressing time so much easier and so much more enjoyable for everyone. Also, their fabric is so cute and it is so soft. You will be just as obsessed with them as I am. Make more time for connection with Magnetic Me. These are a must-have to make changing time easier on you and your baby. Right now, new customers can get 15 % off site-wide at MagneticMe.com. I'm telling you the prints are cute, the fabric is soft, and the closures are so convenient. Don't wait. Get 15 % off at magneticme.com. And okay, let's get off the saga, but I love that we were talking about it.
58:07Let's talk about, we have to talk about the new United Airlines Relax Row. Have you seen this? It's three adjacent United Economy seats with adjustable leg rests that can each be raised or lowered to create a cozy lie flat space for stretching out. this feels so long overdue where all airlines there's so many little things airlines can do to make the experience much much better and this is one of those so here's my question they're taking three seats because okay so they haven't revealed how much it costs but there are some international airlines that already do this and the cost of those is around 1100 to 12 to $2 ,000.
58:52So the question is, is it worth it? I have a rule on this. This is how I, this is my, um, so I always take the price of a basic seat and then for every hour of the flight, I'll pay a hundred dollars to upgrade my seat. So if we're flying to LA and the base price is $400 and LA from Austin is three hours, I would pay 300 extra dollars and I would book a first class seat and so what do you think of this well i so this i'm not understanding it's it's just like a regular row but you're but you're buying the whole row you you're not buying an individual seat or three individual seats you're buying the row and then there's like basically these foot stands that come up underneath and you can turn it into like a twin size bed essentially yeah i'm gonna try this i would try this just to see but are they gonna like when this is the thing that happens with this when are we getting the plane that actually has these available yeah so here's my take on this is this should be every single seat in economy and i think the most they're doing useful ways of this 12 rows pardon they're doing 12 rows it should be the whole thing and the way it should really shake out is when you're on an empty flight you you get to take advantage of all three seats and have it be comfy as opposed to the way it works right now which is when you're on an empty flight and those three seats and you lay across them and they're just like the seatbelts are you know ripping through your ribs or the armchairs are are don't move up and down so like i actually think the most utility out of this is going to come from just planes that have have less room i need to see it i don't know what's that face what do you mean less room plane thank you planes that that aren't fully full planes that are open yeah half full flights But would I book this?
1:00:45Absolutely. Well, I'm going to book it to try it because I just think it's a cool, we haven't seen this before. So I'm all for the idea of a new seat happening. Yes. I think it will be a six out of 10 flying experience relative to business class. The image that I saw of it with this headline looked like a lay down pod. Not at all. What you're describing to me sounds like the three seats just laying down flatter. You only have the room of those three seats. Have you seen those kids seat extenders that you can do for kids? It's like three of those. Yeah. And then you're just laying horizontally.
1:01:26Which is good. It doesn't look great to me, if I'm being honest. You're going to need to be in a ball. And are these going to be offered on flights that are three hours? No. I think the use case is going to be international flights where you're north of five hours and you want to be taking a bit of a snooze. and I think as long as the price is reasonable and it's only a couple hundred more bucks, then people will love them. I think that if it's more than that, there needs to be significant discount to a business class lie down seat. And those business class lie down seats are very expensive right now.
1:01:58I completely agree. They've gotten completely out of hand there. But I'm interested in this. Will I book it once to see? Yeah, 100 % because I just got to know. Do they get free alcohol and meals in these seats? I don't know if there's any extra perks. Because the meal... I would assume so. I feel like United Plus gives you free alcohol. But they don't do meal service on flights over three hours. Interesting. Okay. Well, you know what? I'm open to this. When I say definitely not, I don't actually know. They don't do meal service. They don't. All right. Cool. Okay. Things we DMed each other. I love this.
1:02:38There was a video about... And there's a couple videos. but I picked the one that I like. The worst type of dads, according to a labor and delivery nurse. So these are dad behaviors when giving birth, okay? I watched this video. It's crazy. And I will say, couldn't agree more with the lady who made them on all points. So number five, the worst kind of dad in the delivery room is the gamer. When she's getting hooked up to her epidural, to all of her, the Pentatocin XYZ, and he's asking where he can plug in his Xbox. Completely unacceptable. Read the room. Number four, the answer man. So the labor and delivery nurses are asking the girl, do you need anything?
1:03:26How do you feel? Would you like some food? And he's answering for her. She's like, it's her body. She knows. Know your role. Know your role. number three the stoner he takes a walk outside and he comes back in either reeking of weed or she said most of the time just covered up with perfume which just smells up the room is is this how severe of of an act is this for all of these to me are a 10 the first two are are terrible i think leaving the hospital room to go smoke a joint is fucking jaw-dropping yeah like it's jaw-dropping i agree like that is i mean the first two and and i don't want to i think the first two are ridiculous as well but this one to me is like then you come back in just like reeking.
1:04:24And you're just, you're, you're high in what is one of the most special moments of your life where it's your job as the male to sit there and just be supportive and be helpful and alert and alert. It's just, it's bananas. Yeah. Yeah. And she said this one will surprise you. Um, okay. Number two, the second worst is the dad on the phone. And she says he's taking a business call almost like we're interrupting him he's taking up the entire room and she's about to give birth yeah and obviously like a a huge no-no i do this feels different though like picking up a work call versus going and smoking a joint outside but even picking up a workout go outside totally totally totally it's like actually you know what i think work can wait but if like one of our parents calls you please answer it but get in the corner hey sorry we're doing things we're getting hooked up to machines of course crouch in the corner but do not buy any like you don't here's the thing there's not very many very many scenarios where i'm going to be like you don't need to be seen or heard but like does it like you kind of got a fade you're you're a supporting cast in this moment um and then the the number one and it just makes me want to scream It's the dad that sexualizes everything.
1:05:49So they're doing like a swab and he makes a threesome joke. Absurd. Get out. Absurd. I would throw my ice chips at you. Yeah. The birth, it's like, as the guy, it's not your time. It's all about your partner. And to take away from that in any way is completely missing the mark. And I want to say this. is 100 % both, both this, this goes without saying, like I even feel stupid for things, but like, yes, of course it's both your baby. Of course, all these things, but she has to get it out. And I cannot explain to you the physical and mental pain that you have to endure when you give birth. Like I'm starting to get nervous for it again.
1:06:35And it's just like, if you are gaming answering for me, like the best example I have of last time is my epidural wasn't working and I really needed another one and I was I didn't I just I did not know how people survive this kind of pain and I said to Harrison you gotta get me another epidural and he left the room and I don't know what words happened but all I know is when they came back in I got my other epidural and I was like that's how you handle it like don't argue in front of me but just come back in the room when Alex is getting the other epidural that will work it's it's it's this is all about you and all about everything that can be done to support you and shouldn't be it's all about what you want plain and simple the sexual joke like I would lose my mind because it's such a vulnerable time for your body they're all they're all yeah they're all ridiculous they're all just firm nose yeah they're just it's just so I just thought that was crazy and I bet as a labor and delivery nurse you see it all yep you never know what you're getting or the dad that's like what about my bed just no totally nope um okay so then multiple listeners have sent us influencer lucy fink's video on and i and i love this video eight genius hacks for introducing toddlers to newborns without jealousy so thank you lucy for making the video number one when the child first enters the room don't mention the baby instead you just focus on them so i love that okay number two place Place the baby off to the side in a bassinet so your arms are free to cuddle your other child.
1:08:19Cuddle bubbers. I know. This one's really cute. I have never thought about this. Number three, arrange photos of the other child, so Tate, in the baby's bassinet to remind them that they're special and included. So put photos of bubber in the other bassinet. In the baby boy's bassinet. Unbelievable. Right? Love it. This was a really, really good video. number four transfer the baby calmly and intentionally waiting for the older child to be ready and ask to specifically hold them so and i don't think bubber's going to be able to ask but she could be like she should want to give besos yeah kisses um okay this is my favorite one a family hug to signify to signify that you're a unit and we've been doing so it's funny we've been starting family hugs with bubs she loves family hugs she smiles and she wants more so i think this is i think for us this is a gold mine because she's familiar with a family hug yeah i just like i can't get over her just like realizing oh my goodness like there's another human that's not leaving here to stay i don't think that she's gonna understand he's here to stay for a while she feels like she owns like we're her property correct which we are and she's going to be so happy to have a sibling oh yeah of course of course there was this video that came across my desk and it was um to the mother who's afraid to give birth to her second child right now because she doesn't want to hurt her first child's feelings and it was like a i couldn't watch the whole thing because i was going to start crying but it's just how good it can be yeah um okay number six let the other child hold the newborn at home but only when they want to don't pressure or continually ask.
1:09:59Number seven, don't blame the baby for not being able to attend to their needs.
1:10:08Okay, okay. I needed to process this for a second. So this is saying, if Tate's like, I want agua, agua, agua, we can't be like, hold on, I'm with your brother. Okay. It's just one second, mom's busy. Okay. Never blaming the baby. Got it. Great tip. Okay, so that's a good one because I've read that but I'm just learning it. include them in the caretaking process. Yeah, this one, all of them are great, but this one particularly lands because I've just seen time and time again, the more we involve her, the more she enjoys herself. And bunnying up, what calmed her the first day when we removed the PASI was actually, so there were a bunch of dishes on the sink and I had to unload the dishwasher and I got her involved in unloading the dishwasher and she just like enjoyed it and she come right up and responsibility has just been such a great tool for us.
1:11:06And she wants that. But my favorite, so we're going to take the photos to the hospital and if we forget, we'll have a family member bring them and we'll put them in the bassinet with the baby. We won't be holding the baby when she comes in the room. We will do a family hug. Yeah. I'm sure I'll probably meet Bubba outside the room. Yeah. And carry her in. I can't wait and then the other thing I know we're doing is we're all leaving together yes so bubs will come on the last day I just it's funny I don't want to be in the hospital for long whatever you want I don't want to be away from her I'm going to really miss her okay so that ladies and gentlemen that kind of concludes the episode so we've got yeah we've got Harrison traveling but by the time this comes out he's back and then we've got the pacifier removed and tantrum.
1:11:58Thank you for listening. Okay, done. I thought you were going to say thank you for listening. No, I was just recapping what we talked about. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we’re in the middle of some BIG transitions over here… including officially saying goodbye to the pacifier (BEBE) 😭 We get into how it’s going, whether we’ve now entered the full-blown tantrum era, and all the little ways toddlerhood keeps you humble (daily).
We also talk about a question that is VERY relevant right now: when should dad actually stop traveling before birth? (s/o to the person who compared Harrison’s HYROX race to Scottie Scheffler withdrawing from the Houston Open because unfortunately that did send us.) We also get into how to know when your baby has dropped (hand between b00bs and your belly), whether you can tell who your baby looks like from an ultrasound (we think he looks like Tate????), and why pregnancy makes your hair and nails grow like crazy.
Plus, our reality TV break (obviously), including Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat, Southern Charm, and SLOMW, before somehow ending up in a full Hannah Montana / child star comeback tangent (+ Harrison’s childhood celeb crush lol).
Then we get into whether United’s new “Relax Row” is actually genius or completely ridiculous, the worst types of dads in the delivery room according to an L&D nurse, and genius tips for introducing toddlers to newborns without jealousy (taking notes for ourselves).
