In short

Friendship and budget vs shared hobbies; Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce wedding “smash or pass” hot takes (1,000 guests, Madison Square Garden, NDAs/phone bans, no wedding party, long vows, entertainment, raffle, buffet logistics); July 4th “New Year 2.0” reset; postpartum anxiety tools; parenting and sleep; Love Island discussion.

Guests

No external guests. Hosts are the “Two Parents in a Podcast” duo (Jules, Alex, and Harrison mentioned as a co-host/partner).

Guest backgrounds

Not provided beyond being parents; Jules and Alex discuss postpartum experience, parenting routines, and lifestyle across cities (Austin, New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Midwest).

Key claims

Postpartum anxiety can involve intrusive “automatic negative thoughts” (ANTS); naming/talking about anxiety helps by shifting brain activity toward rational thinking; ERP-style therapy is recommended for OCD/intrusive thoughts. Taylor Swift’s wedding secrecy is attributed to watermarked invites and NDAs/phone bans.

Notable examples

“ANTS” example of checking burners twice; “name it to tame it” and “start talking out loud”; Madison Square Garden logistics; Taylor Swift wedding elements like Chanel purse raffle, arcade games, Krispy Kreme truck, billboards, and alleged buffet seating issues.

0:40Visit HomeDepot.com. How doers get more done. Jules, what did you get today from Swedish Hill? This is my bloom. Got it. I already finished my Swedish Hill. Jules needs energy today. Yeah, yeah. I realized yesterday I only had half of a bloom. That was my whole caffeine intake for the day. Those are the best days. I love them. When you forget. But normally I have like two plus probably one to two coffees. Wow. Sometimes I have two blooms too. So 500 milligrams of caffeine. 5 ,500. I have no clue. We all have our vices. 500 milligrams I think is what that is. My question for you is how was your guys' summer vaccination?

1:26Yeah. And I deserve that. It's been a while since I've done like a big typo. but I think it was the way she asked it which was what was it do what do you think about summer vac or sorry I keep saying summer what do you think about vaccinations with kids or something like that yeah like I think it was the with kids that threw me off waiting about vaccinations with kids I know it can be controversial and I was like oh vacations with kids I got a lot of DMs about that one okay ready sure did we get any feedback on the home recording no you know what we have gotten feedback on though people are just seeking the comfort of a welcome back to another episode of two parents in a podcast thank you for that what does that mean they don't want me to veer from the script they don't like to switch up Okay, no switch up today.

2:23Ready? Like a warm blanket. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. Happy Wednesday, everybody. July 8th. I thought it was the 7th. How about that? I'll say it feels like July is flying by. I have a question for you off the top. Please. okay have you ever thought about your friends and if you have actual common hobbies and interests versus just the same budget like what do you do you hang out with some people because you guys can do the same things but you don't have as many commonalities in terms of interest or do you have friends where you have the same interest but not the same budget or do you have friends that are in both categories.

3:05Saw video on it. That's really interesting. Jules, it rocked my world. I saw it on Monday. I'm still thinking about it. I would say that I have hobby-based friends. Mm-hmm. Far and away. Do you think you have budget-based friends?

3:25The story the guy told was... The mass majority of my friends are hobby-based. because when i look at the cost of entry to most of the things we do it's it's not very high

3:43like we don't go and if i look at our highest spend experiences in life it's largely travel yep this was like the first time we've ever really traveled with friends like if you look at okay over the past two years how many friend trips have we've gone on two everything else in Austin is like very, I think very accessible. But if you want to go, you know, you and Alex Kost are always looking at tickets to these sport games. And if you want to go fly to LA and go to a game there, like that is, you're going to have to have another person that can, that can afford to do that too. For sure. For sure.

4:23But that isn't, I very like, so let's use that as a great example. because that is like a high spend experience. Probably booked on the fly too. Yes. So it's more higher. But that is one of 10 things that we will have done together in the year. And the other nine would have been low cost experiences. I also think, okay, so the example the guy used was they were at dinner and these two women were like talking about shopping and skiing. and one of the husbands said, you two actually don't have anything in common. You just have your budget in common. Yeah, I'm like part of what I'm biting my tongue on because I don't want this to come out the wrong way is if, and I don't know how, if there is a gap on one of those things, I'll pick up the bill.

5:18Well, or they'll outspend you. Like, you know. I don't like to be hosted. That's a big thing with you. Yeah. but I'd never pay for like, I don't have a friend that I'd ever pay for 10 out of 10 experiences. But if there was like nine, if there was, you know, a 10 thing that could be a different, you know, budget, I'm, I'm always happy to, to wear that. Always, always, always. Yeah. Because you want to be with people that you want to be with. Yeah. I prioritize the person, not the spending behavior. Well, also I think one thing is like, it's nice just it that's why austin is so nice is we just go to parks and we just go to a friend's pool or you just go to the neighborhood pool or whatever and it doesn't no it's just it's interesting isn't it not the most i i would say like all of my friends what i was thinking like some of my friends have been my best friend since high school so like spent like that's not a question but like we all approximately make the same amount of like within x amount of each other and like i don't know if i would have a friend that makes significantly more than me or significantly less because i i do i like to live my life the way i like to live it and i like to surround myself with the people i like to surround myself with and i don't know if it just worked out that way that me and my friends mostly make the same amount of money but like i do think that that's true that is ironic though that your group texts all make around the same amount of money and we're just like all the same age and all the same level of like functioning if that makes sense so like people are i don't know yeah through the years i have a very very wide dispersion on on budgets yeah and i'll go as far as saying i think this is interesting i think the city can be reflective like i'm thinking of the cities so like new york was of the budget was a was a much bigger driver of friendship than in austin i would agree with that because in all in in in new york like the cost of of activities is so high yeah and so much of what you're doing is like you go out for drinks you're in there for 200 yeah versus in austin like my favorite bar is don's depot right which is like a five dollar beer it's a five dollar beer well if i'm meeting you for a drink but there's a there's a 80 chance it's at don't it's also mainly houses here.

8:04Or the night cat bar. You just go to houses. Yeah. So that's really true. New York, San Francisco, probably higher budget, whereas here, the spread. San Francisco was actually different. San Francisco was interest-based. Interest-based. Oh, people, okay. Very surprisingly so. Because San Francisco, huge variation on where people outwear their careers. A lot of my friends there, super early stage founders, like just getting their businesses going, like in full-fledged bootstrap mode, you know, tons of people living in a house. Whereas on the other end, if you were a Series C, Series D, Series Z founder, you're living in a totally different world.

8:51But everyone is united by that same entrepreneurial drive to cause change to an area or drive change to an area that they're passionate about. This is a really interesting question that we're really taking on the fly right now. Yeah, I don't have anything interesting to say because I'm still thinking about it. Hong Kong, very love those guys, but budget was a big part of life out there. What I love about the Midwest is budget is not a big part of it. Like, it is just, do I like you? Do we want to go hang out together? And like, then you're able to. Which I think is the way a lot of times in cities, but I do.

9:35it's okay all that aside I just think if if you're listening and you think about your friends it's very fascinating to ask yourself with some of your friends like is that a budget-based friend or do you have a lot of interest base with them I mean it'll break your brain like I've had a lot of fun with it so that's a fun little soft question off the top huh a little icebreaker because it's not like we were in a tiff this morning let's talk about your fourth of july reset there could be a parlay from tiff to taylor swift but okay okay well i have the ipad that was on me let's talk about t swift's wedding let's do it i like it um i so harrison was on the couch last night doing some prep as a good podcast host does and i was shocked by some of the things he was asking me about like they actually had a raffle well here's the thing here's the thing on the taylor surf winning what i can't believe from like i'm a tier two i'm tier two on this right too like i think you and you jules your your tier one on this in terms of like it being on your radar i assume alex your tier one yeah in terms of this being on your radar a little i'm ignoring it a little bit i did some digging there's no information out there so my first takeaway from this is like in a world where it is impossible to keep secrets is impossible to like gatekeep information they're running a master class on things not leaking did you see that they provided the specific route that you had to take to msg and if you veered off that your car wouldn't be allowed in the curtains did not see that it's taylor swift she is a mastermind so it's not shocking to me in any way so while the troll of trolls would have been to on the custom invites one thing chat gbt is very good for is like funny little photoshops to have photoshopped like let's say with a thousand people going to have like photoshop someone else's name onto the thing and leaked it so what i think could happen though is okay so we know there was the invitation leak explain though that the invitations were watermarked so they were watermarked if you took a photo of if you saw the invitation it was like a regular invitation if you took a photo of the invitation your name pops up in it okay and there was an invitation leak from and it was like one of Travis's high school friends.

12:19Like it was a very random person. It wasn't, you know, like Gwyneth Paltrow's leaked. You know, it was like some random persons leaked. I don't know how it got. I don't know if he sent a photo to a friend, a group text, what happened. But somebody in that leaked it. What I'm also thinking could happen though. Although the invite was watercolor. Marked. What? Marked. Which apparently she. No, it was watercolor. Oh, watercolor? Yeah. Oh, my God. And, like, she watercolors, I guess. Checks out. The other thing is there was, like, the land, the sea, the sky. What is it? Keep it 100. On the land, the sea, the sky.

13:00So there was that in it. So that's one. The invitation. It was very pretty. So I either think that that was a real leak or what's going to happen is she's going to do somehow release some information about it. And that was even a plant that the invitation is not real. Well, let's get the train on the tracks here in terms of what we're going to talk about from the wedding. Because I think the most effective way to do this is I think we should go of all the points we know of the wedding, smash your pass on them. Okay. I like that. Okay. So I'm just going to start because I have some notes here from you.

13:41That's how I think we should do this. Oh, from Jules. Okay. All right. So Taylor Swift, Wedding Smasher Pass. Okay. 1 ,000 guests. I need to ask you because you're much more of a wedding person than I am. We both are. Let's both do it. Smash your pass. 1 ,000 guests. 1 ,000 guests. Oh. I'm going to answer this as though I'm Taylor Swift, not me. Is that the guys I'm doing? Ooh. Ooh. Us. Ooh. I think you got to relate it back to you. Yeah. well pass wait I mean if I'm inviting a thousand people I'm inviting people I don't have their phone number but here's where I'm going with this okay I think I'm like 150 or a thousand because my gap like there's a hundred and fifty people that I can sit there and say between the two of us we've had very special moments with the minute that goes to 250 you're on the fringe so i would just at that point if we're not doing 150 let's open it up and let's go all in because my assumption is there are people invited to that wedding that she'd only met two or three times or not or hasn't met and she said that like years ago she said on the graham norton show essentially like if i sneezed you near you you're coming i'm not making choices okay i just want everyone to be there and there's something that i love about that like there are um there are some unbelievable per like i had my core group in Hong Kong, group chat called the Antics, okay?

15:31Those guys obviously will be at the wedding. But there was a lot of other folks that I crossed paths in Hong Kong that I would love. Like, they're... The Hong Kong invite list is somewhere between 50 to 100. It's 100 people. How are you getting from Hong Kong to Austin? Is that four flights or... Seriously? Dallas. connection direct okay great great like i i could i could run a hundred people from that if we but going plus one so two so two hundred so the whole point the whole kind of point i'm making there is like the first 10 from hong kong are that tight-knit community but 10 to 100 is like we've had we've had a couple drinks together we've had a couple good memories And you would invite them to your wedding.

16:24That's my point. We're either going 150 and we've had amazing intimate moments. Or like, yeah, let's go to 1 ,000. Love it. Love it. Indian wedding style. 17:46How many contacts do you have in your phone? I was just about to look, Jules. I think I have 1 ,072. I looked the other day. I have like 1 ,500 contacts. I'm like, I don't know 1 ,500 people. Let's go. Let's have a look-see. I don't know your passcode. Let's have a look-see, Bear Jules. I don't know your passcode. I'll tell you. You don't know my pass-ee, Bear? It's also... Oh. I forget where I saw it. I think it's at the bottom. Harrison has 2 ,525 contacts. Okay, now I have to go see mine. Hold on. I saw mine the other day. I was like, I don't, I mean, I seriously talk to maximum, like, 15 people on the phone, you know?

18:23Why do I have these extra thousand contacts? I don't know. Okay. Okay. Jules has my phone now. Sorry, I got up for a second. Okay, let's see. I wonder, I don't know why I think I have 1 ,072. You have 1 ,454. Wow, I'm the least amount of contacts. Yeah. Good for me. Because you just don't save the phone numbers. I don't, Jules. I have nobody's phone number saved. You have 1 ,400 people's phone number saved. True. How do you turn off? It got stuck the other day. I spilled milk in it or something. Okay. Okay, so 1 ,000 guests. Basically, you're a yes and a no, and I'm a no. All right, getting married at Madison Square Garden.

19:11That's a smash for me. yeah I think all things considered that was a great venue choice I think it's cool like I think seeing that from what little we've seen you can make it really cool I'm answering these questions assuming that budget is not an issue but here's my challenge with the lack of us getting content from the people going is they're obviously going to drop a documentary I think that's a movie I think it's pretty safe to assume okay the way they shoot that is gonna make it look perfect it's gonna look like every detail is covered i'd be very curious to see though with all the like all the empty space how they actually kept that feeling special well do you know what i mean from what it sounds like is i mean you can you comprehend have you been to where they drape the ceiling and the sides like a tunnel like that what do you mean they can really make these tunnels feel really intimate with drapery yeah that's what i'd want to see the a to z of how they did it yeah you probably never saw any empty space because you probably walked through a tunnel of drapes into a tent of drapes yeah like you like guests probably weren't anywhere like it is i'm envisioning a giant tent inside of madison quarter garden i don't think it felt like madison's were garden at all yes yes they just needed a giant venue I learned something savage about Madison Square Garden, though.

20:44What? The opposing basketball teams, they have the buses drop them off in the basement. And everything in Madison Square Garden is on, like, the sixth floor. And they make the opposing – did I say baseball? No, you said basketball. Oh, okay. They make the opposing basketball team walk from – I don't know if it's true. But from the basement to the sixth floor. That's the best thing ever. Before they play a game. Up six flights of stairs? Yeah. Got to get an elevator. As soon as an elevator. Got to get an elevator. That is hilarious. I think it's a ramp. Oh. Okay. Well, it's a ramp down, isn't it?

21:15No, it's escalators down when you're in there. I think it's escalators. All right. Adam Sandler is your officiant. I mean - 10 out of 10. Just yes. 10 out of 10. 10 out of 10. Nailed it. Smash all day long. Nailed it. Best thing they did, I think. Nailed it. Making all guests sign NDAs and banning phones. Not for me. I like people to have their phones. Not for me. huge fan though of no phone moments so like yes during the reception locking up phones huge fan of like i think there's nothing worse even if you like when the when the person comes on is like hey please don't record them walking down the aisle there's always that that elder you know that has the phone sticking in the aisle it's like a tripping hazard so i i i feel like i'm i'm playing the middleman here but i think there's a time and a place to take the phone away at a wedding and i think you got to bring it back like on that d floor you got to bring it back oh yeah when you're walking into the venue you gotta let people be capturing those moments i agree just because like it's just so cool yeah and they want to capture it yeah um ndas though that's crazy i'm out on ndas i'm really obviously but that's why nothing is leaked from this wedding yeah um no bridesmaids or groomsmen just your brother as a maid of honor slash best man i mean i'm so for no bridesmaids or groomsmen so for it i i hate that as a society we draw this line we pick our five best friends we pick that's that i'm i'm not a fan of it um yeah not a fan of it yeah i agree um um reading what i don't i don't know if this is true or not this next one yeah okay reading 20 minute vows from a gold book but let's just call it reading 20 minute vows if if pass we know you love each other read your vows just the two of you give me the five minute ceremony if the if this is true yeah that this is a hard this is a hard mess i I think vows need to be kept at two minutes per couple.

23:35I agree. I think if you wrote your vows, that's really sweet. Why don't you two do them? And the videographer can be there so you can have some memory of it. But the two of you can do them together. Well, actually, what is the appropriate vow? Five ahead? I don't know. No. I think one to two minutes of talking. Do you want me to give you a two-minute talk right now? Well, I think you have the speech. To communicate your love story.

24:04What's funny is until I was like 23 years old, I had only ever been to a Catholic wedding. And like they don't do, you don't do the vows. You just like read the Bible passages and stuff. And those weddings are like an hour long. So, and I love a five minute ceremony. So there's, because the best part about the ceremony is everyone walking down. Then we sit for a second, we listen to some stuff and then we're good. We get it on with it. And we love seeing the couple looking at each other in the eyes and really professing each other's love to one another. But that can be done in single-digit minutes.

24:41But the vows are like the I, Harrison, take you, Alex, to be your lawfully wedded, that whole thing. And there's the traditional vows. The canned ones, yeah. You can rewrite them. And I think rewriting them for 20 minutes, I think that I don't know that people are actually understanding how long that is. It's 40 minutes. But I think people, I would listen to Taylor Swift speak for 20 minutes. No problem, actually. Not about her love. I'm listening to her talk about her love for 20 minutes. Here's the irony. Here's the irony of all of this. It's all of her songs. Here's the irony of all of this.

25:18when the documentary comes out we're not going to be fast forwarding through that part if they put all 40 minutes of the vows everyone in this room is going to sit there and watch it so this feels like a smash for them a pass for us yeah okay paul mccartney and stevie nicks performing at your reception yes all day smash especially because to my understanding stevie nicks was like a big inspiration and mentor of hers so well additionally like though like I would go see them in concert tomorrow like I like these two that's a great yeah skipping your registry and donating 26 million dollars to charity and set smash all day long yeah the most iconic thing that they did um arcade games and a Krispy Kreme truck at the reception great iconic smash custom just tnt married license plate on the getaway cart.

26:15Yes, of course. Of course. What about the billboards? Yes. Smash the billboards? Smash the billboards. I didn't like the billboards. I don't like the billboards for Harrison and I. I like them for her. Like she has lived her life on a grand stage. Okay. Everyone has seen it. She's written about her love. Yeah, I like this. Sorry, I like these caveats. For her, yes. For us, no. For her, yes. For us, I mean, absolutely. not but like for her yeah we've watched her struggle and find her love story and blah blah blah like put it up on the put it up on the billboard honey i loved it i loved it um okay the raffle of the the chanel purse i'm assuming it was many raffle items but all we've learned about is the chanel purse so initially pass however now that i'm understanding there was also arcade games what i'm thinking is she just made the most fun fair on the planet with a bunch of movie stars and there was a raffle there, I'm in on that.

27:17I'm very out on just like a random raffle. Yes, we need, we need, this is a great one. We need more context on. Like if everyone's just like sitting at their tables, like who has ticket 49? Like they're all like, I flew here private. Why are we raffling off a purse? Like I could just buy the purse. It's what they're thinking, I'm sure. Versus like if like you're playing the fair game and popping the balloon and it's like, what do you get for the balloon? A Chanel bag that you can't buy anymore. That's cool. Yeah. So I'm in on that. Now, the other thing that's not on here is... Yeah, I've been waiting for the big one.

27:48I'm sorry. The big one, big one, big one. I just realized I didn't make it up there. The buffet line with not enough seats to sit at. No, not even that, because that isn't confirmed, but buffet at a wedding. Honey, none of this is confirmed. This is all alleged. Okay, but I... Okay, smash your pass. Buffet at the wedding. Buffet at a wedding. This is you. For me, it's a pass. Okay. Now, do I need to have a seated dinner? No. I don't mind a sit at tables and they serve you family style there. I love family style. Good with that. I'm really good with food trucks. I don't love the idea of like a long line with a buffet.

28:28That's my only thing. I also think she had the opportunity to do some - What? Sorry. One more thing I'm okay with too. I know this is crazy and a lot of people are going to say absolutely not. I'm okay with an early wedding ceremony. Give everybody dinner off. You go eat somewhere on your own and we meet back up for the reception. I like that more than I like a buffet. I'm sorry. I think she had the opportunity to do something. I don't have a view on that. So no take. I had a friend do stations. It was awesome. Stations is fun. Stations is really, really fun. I love stations too. Here's what I think she had the opportunity to do.

29:05She had the opportunity, given her relationships, the city, the venue, and the lack of budget to do something incredibly iconic, which is when you RSVP'd, you'd RSVP the cuisine that you liked. So you'd do Italian, you would do sushi. Burger. You would do burger and recreate her favorite restaurants in MSG. So if you want Italian, you actually go to Via Corotta. like they have a via Corotta inside of MSG or like if you wanted burgers, they'd have like a four Charles in, in MSG. And I'm, I hope that's what happened. It's sounding like it didn't happen. And I, I think like you got to go seated in that setting.

29:56Like I think that one of the cool things about all those characters is to look at all those characters in one place who do you end up at a table with and that way you like force conversation amongst your guests yeah like i want george kittle beside reese witherspoon they've probably never met i just want them to talk like they would love each other just like two really cute but what i don't want is well what do we think about that idea i love that idea i absolutely love that idea and i think it would be iconic and then you do it seated in there and you have the actual waiters from there with like the outfits on come and i think every Every single one of those restaurants, or I'd say 99 % of restaurants in New York, would chomp at the bit to recreate their dining experience in New York.

30:39It would be all over the press. They would have loved it. Yeah. I also think, so what we heard was that there was a long buffet line and not enough seats. People were, a lot of people ate standing up. I find that incredibly hard to believe. But if it's true, that part does shock me. I just I don't think it's true I don't either I just I find it hard to believe we didn't have a thousand seats she thinks of everything I think so too she really does I don't know oh yeah I but I did hear that there was like a plethora of food you know there was a ton of seafood and just amazing desserts and all that but I'm shocked that there wasn't enough seats I think the craziest part is Travis Kelsey is just like this guy from Cleveland it's so funny it's the best thing ever I like love this why are you looking at us like that yeah because I'm with you on it I'm with you on that statement but he's also like I don't know the guy I mean he's got his own things going on obviously so he's just like a kid from Cleveland and it's crazy and she's just a girl from Nashville She's from Pennsylvania.

31:57She's just a girl from Pennsylvania. That's what's cool about it though. Like it is to me, I don't know. I think she, I think it's the perfect match. Yeah. Like just a football player, like a football player. Yeah. That's what little, that's what the little girl wanted. Yeah. You know, in her. So it's pretty iconic. So what was your answer on buffet? Would you rather have food stations to avoid the line? Well, I think this is a great example. Like for her, she had the opportunity to do something iconic. I hope she did that. I hope it wasn't just a traditional buffet. I think there's always a time and a place for a buffet.

32:37But was it this wedding? No. I think at ours, will we do food trucks? I think that you will likely see food trucks one night. Yes. I love a food truck. I also love the idea of stations. Which to me is. now that I'm thinking about it is I also take on food trucks I also I loved loved loved the family style love family style too where they bring you all I mean I think that's pretty cool I don't know for me you know I struggle with the dinner parts of weddings I'll say I also agree with that in general and I don't know why yeah what are your thoughts I think the food yeah sorry no go ahead minimal thoughts i the only thing is the last wedding not the last wedding i went to but a wedding i went to with a buffet i was at a table of people i didn't really know that well and all they did the whole time was talk shit on the buffet excuse my language and that that's a no-go for me talking talking crap about the food choices at the wedding while you're there no totally not allowed but i also like i'll say yeah i'm i'm not down for this hate on buffet i think that buffet can be done very very very well you need to have the right type of food and you need to have the right type of logistics but i think buffet can be done very well when done well it's totally fine with me like who cares so how but how do you do um how do you do the line you gotta have the wedding planner helping guide the traffic like hey your table can get up and go now that's how they tip i don't know that's how they typically do it i gotta say of all the food i'll i will just take this i'll take this one on the chest of all the options it's my least favorite i agree with that i'm still very great i'm down with it i've been to a lot of really good parties and a lot of really good weddings that have had good buffets yeah and i'm never going to complain about them while I'm there.

34:34I'm just saying of all the food options, it is my least. Yeah, I think everyone would agree with that. It's my least. Okay, where to from here? When you become a parent, your brain goes into overdrive in a way nobody really warns you about. And for some people, that includes thoughts that show up out of nowhere, something disturbing or dark, completely out of character, and the last thing you ever want to be thinking. And it won't go away no matter what you do. Thoughts that make you feel like something is deeply wrong with you just for having them. For a lot of parents, that's not a sign that something is wrong with them.

35:08It's OCD. And most of them have no idea. Not the organizing stereotype of OCD, right, you guys? Real OCD is persistent, unwanted, intrusive thoughts that latch on to the things you care about most. And there's nothing a new parent cares about more than their child, you guys. those thoughts bring enormous guilt and shame and they're followed by behaviors that you feel driven to do over and over again to try to make them stop even when relief will never come and the good news is you guys OCD is highly treatable with the right kind of specialized therapy OCD needs ERP exposure and responsive prevention therapy which is proven to be the most effective treatment regular talk therapy isn't recommended for OCD and it can actually make it worse and And that's where NoCD comes in, you guys.

35:55NoCD is the world's leading provider for OCD treatment, and it's covered by insurance for over 138 million Americans. That's NoCD.com. Well, okay, let's see. We are going to go to... New Year's 2.0. Yeah, July 4th. You can tell me what you think of this.

36:34Okay. Okay. I came into the year, battery pack was full. Yeah. Okay. We are clicking on all cylinders. It's a good analogy. Yeah. Yeah. From work... working out health everything past couple months we started to fade okay i want to use the post july 4th era or the post july 4th timeline as new year's 2.0 i want to get back on track because this i also feel like is the time where like if we don't if i don't get it together then things are only going to keep going in a worse direction so i want i want to use July 4th as New Year's 2.0. We celebrate it. Great 250. July 5th. Get the goals back on track.

37:25Okay, so what are the goals? I notice you're working out again. Yeah, just more. You started the working out in Aspen, though. Honestly, just more balance. Okay. I think that the Social Cup over the past six to eight weeks has been completely full. But that's on me. So our Social Cup has been really full the past six to eight weeks, and that's because not being pregnant anymore. Like I was just reminiscing yesterday on what it felt like to be pregnant and I cannot tell you, I just feel sick 24 seven and I don't want to be around people and I just, I have a constant headache. In the moment I'm not pregnant and the moment that I lift even slightly out of the postpartum, I'm like, who wants to hang out?

38:04And I really like take Harrison on that journey with me. So yes, we over indexed on it and now I do agree. We're just going to steady the ship. We're going to steady it. One hilarious thing though, what i know everyone loves to talk about like the negative effect of alcohol on sleep and and i do stand by that when you drink a lot i totally and and i'm not i'm not gonna fight the data i will say though the past three nights i've had um i was i feel like i've had a sleep regression i've i've had it i've been awake or i had i've had awake windows i've been awake from three to five for the past three nights you and rocky both having wake windows huh yeah wait with no alcohol with no alcohol and so it's like i i've been so excited like we're back i'm in the swing of things but from three to five i'm just ripping it wide awake i think the al it's probably something else correct i've never slept better if it's probably not not drinking alcohol no it has nothing to do with the alcohol sorry i'm just saying i think it's funny that like you know i'm getting things back on track eating good working out not drinking yeah aspirin what You'd expect the sleep to be humming and just it hasn't been.

39:18Harrison's point is this. Like when we were in Aspen, we were in vacation mode, right? So we were in Colorado. We had seven days there, probably drank four to five of them. I didn't sleep so great. And like I know that about me, right? Like my sleep is just not going to be as good. But my sleep also, like I love my bed. I think I've realized that the older I get. Like my body knows when I'm in our bed in our house and I have my heating pad and I'm happy. although I have a travel heating pad now. So I don't know. I've been sleeping great but I guess you haven't. That's too bad. Yeah, I gotta...

39:53You gotta figure it out. Why are you waking up? What are you doing when you wake up? My awake windows. Why are you having a wake window? I'm just putting on nonsense that's like podcast shows to help me fall asleep and it's not working. I'm sorry. They have on... I think it's that my cup is so full of responsibility right now that I wake up and at 3 o 'clock something is just completely stressing me out. And then when I think about that, when I actually re-wake up at 8 a.m., I'm like, oh, that's a 2 out of 10, 3 out of 10. Like the home renovations are stressing me out right now. We're not doing home renovations.

40:31We're doing outdoor renovations. The outdoor renovations are stressing me out. The pool's looking really good. The tile. I'm so thrilled. the decisions are so major the power of an inspo photo i cannot stress it enough even if it takes you two seconds like we were driving to the pool place and harrison's like you're gonna have to pick out the tile and i just pulled up on pinterest i was like show me some pool options and it gave me a bunch of different options and i picked one and i was like i like i like this so i zoomed in and i went in and i picked everything exactly like that and i love it as opposed to just like free balling it yeah just it took me two seconds to find the inspo photo and I'm very, very, very happy.

41:12I have a situation I want to talk to right now. What? On the pool. Okay. I want to do grass around the pool. No. People can sound off in the comments. Do you have grass near your pool? I think it either needs to be pavers. It can also be like large limestone slabs is fine. Or it can be turf. But it cannot be grass in Austin. It's just itchy, Harrison. No. Tauntaun has grass around her pool. I think it looks great. It does look great. I don't really even notice that it's grass. She has a person that trims it. I guess I'm just imagining very tall grass. And it doesn't get it in the pool, her person.

41:55Yeah, I like that. I do like that. I don't know. The tiles and the turf can get hot. Grass, cool. She's right. Oh, my gosh. Okay, so last night we took Bubba to the pool in our neighborhood. and she was running towards the basketball goal where she runs all the time but she didn't have her shoes on and her feet got really hot and she didn't know that the pavement could get hot and it was so cute. Hot, hot, hot and she was frozen and so we had to run and get her. It was so cute. She didn't know and then she was walking around saying hot, hot, hot but like the shade's cold or if her feet were wet then it wasn't hot.

42:30She was like standing in the shade pointing at the non-shade being like hot, hot. Oh, that makes me feel sad. It's amazing like watching the brain process these realities. It's amazing too though. She froze on the pavement when her feet got hot and they only would get hotter. Because she didn't know what to do. Yeah, it's like really cute. I think you were there right away. I did. I ran over there. All right. I want to talk about a little postpartum anxiety update because I had mentioned it, right? And then I talked about it and I got some really good tips. Number one, ants, automatic negative thoughts.

43:02Somebody on Substack said this. These are quick involuntary negative thoughts. that crawl into your mind, fuel anxiety, and trigger stress responses. Okay. I know to this person, the ANTS is an acronym for automatic negative thoughts, right? Like they just automatically hit you. Like last night, for example, I get in bed and I'm like, did we turn off the burners? Like, yeah, for all 33 years of my life, I've gotten the burners off and I've never left a stove on. But last night I was like, what if I left the stove on? So I go back downstairs and I check. I had to check twice. Okay. so that's the automatic negative thoughts what i like about the acronym ants is i hate ants so i'm always squashing the ants so if i think of these thoughts now as ants i just squash it love it and what i did google it says how to squash ants and it says you first you have to catch it so like notice the negative thought okay then you have to check it is it actually true or is it false then you have to change it.

44:01So change it from whatever the thought is to what's actually true. That's how you squash it. So for me, I was just thinking get rid of it. But I guess in some cases, like the burner could be on, but it's most likely not on. It's a tough one. But with that example, you caught that that's what you were thinking. You checked, you literally checked if it was true or not. And then you said you changed it and it's something else then. Right? Throw it out. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And Harrison had a good thing for the anxiety on the trip, which is he just said, you know, you always feel better when you start saying it out loud.

44:40So just start talking. And I really liked that you said that. So we've got the ants. We just start talking. And then also from the comments, name it to tame it, which is sort of in line with Harrison saying, you know, just start talking about it. And I even would say to him, I can't believe I'm going to say this out loud. This is going to sound so silly. And then I would just say it out loud. And like the moment I would say it out loud, it almost evaporated. Yeah, it's interesting because I see that with you. And I see when you get quiet, that path that you go on versus when you talk about it, how quickly things can go in the different direction.

45:25and and it's funny that you used the burners last night because obviously i was sleeping but like i think that's a great example had you said that vocally i would have been like alex you didn't cook last night i cooked i cooked the steak i cooked it on the cast iron the cast iron smokes i turned it off i know i turned it off we cooked three hours ago if we didn't our kitchen would already be completely covered we would have noticed it there would have been smoke everywhere so like being able to to add that additional color and and really you know help you squash that ad um is i find like communication around the matters is is often um i'm just want to be so careful with my words here because like it's your situation not mine but if you help me with Communication is very effective.

46:25It's long story short. But I think one thing. Short story long. Long story short. But one thing about it is you've learned me over now to kids, right? And so I think you really know. Okay. So, okay. If anybody, I don't know if the listener has ever dealt with postpartum anxiety or anxiety in general. But it's really easy to get in inside of yourself. Like I'll ball up and I freeze up and I like I don't talk as much and I get really, really quiet. and I know if I can just say to Harrison I'm having anxiety he'll take it from there which is really helpful for me so that's what I did in Aspen I was like hey I'm just I'm I'm so anxious and that's when he's like just start talking it even if it sounds crazy just start telling me because he knows if I start saying it out loud they're almost like little bubbles pop pop pop pop pop and it did it helped so much and what I learned on the name it detainment thing is that So the anxiety is in, I don't remember, like the amygdala and something else, some different parts of your brain.

47:26But when you say it out loud, it activates your prefrontal cortex, which is where rational thinking is. So like even just actually saying it out loud is activating a different part of the brain. And that's what's helping it go away. Like scientifically, this thing is a thing. That's fascinating. Makes so much sense. That is exactly what. Okay. So it's a real thing. Yes. Like there's scientific studies on it somewhere. Okay, you guys. Wow. We always say we don't have any advice. Things we learned this week. Things we learned this week. This feels like a great little Substack deep dive. Yeah, say it out loud.

47:58Yeah. Oh, my goodness. What? Jules' first Substack article. No. Alex's Substack article. Jules might not want to write that, though, but she can give me the information and I'll write it. I'd love to research it. Okay. Maybe. Maybe. I can write about Love Island what did you want to say about Love Island Jules is and I know the listener I know we're gonna get a bunch of comments about this everyone's gonna want you to write a subsect so I am sorry you now will maybe have to write one okay maybe but not on not on that yeah I don't think that I think that that would be Jules reporting on something that's not applicable to her yeah as opposed to Jules has a lot of interests and I think a guest Jules you could even talk about like things you're reading things you're interested in just like a jules interest sub stack i would love okay maybe all the things jules loves so heated rivalry should we start calling jules a gen millennial no i'm a um zillennial that's what they call me zillennial oh we finally named it zillennial um i heard just gen z is loving love island so are the the millennials as well should we be getting on this people are the viewership of uh love island setting viewership records okay okay and yeah i don't know apparently people are loving it and so i'm i wanted to know if this should be our next thing i i feel like i'm reality tv'd out from all the summer house stuff but i just think it's a lot to commit to like i've watched love island for six plus years um because it started in uk then u.s is that where harry josey came from no he's from love is blind or too hot to handle one of those he's from one of those okay um love island is like leah kateb leah kateb and tommy fury well that they're love island uk molly may and tommy fury those are the only probably like celeb level ones you would know but then like u.s it's just a bunch of people it's a bunch of people that want to be online famous is what it is in the u.s but apparently they try to do something different this year where they just like got people got random people like nursing students and um like the good old reality tv days like big brother yes that they tried but i don't know this season is it's a four out of ten to me oh everyone coupled up like the first day and jules your spoiler alert spoiler of the alert of the show that comes out live every single day you're not gonna watch it you're not gonna watch it every single day yeah so it's it's six days a week and like one day a week you don't actually have to watch it because it's a kind of a recap show that sierra from love are from summer house and teffy are hosting but you no need to watch like the story doesn't progress forward but it's every single day I think it's too much for parents How many weeks?

51:07Six to eight Oh my god It started on my trip That was June, so it's been a month And there's like another week and a half You're still watching it? No You've tapered off I came back and I actually watched TV For like the first time in forever And then I decided I was taking too much of my life over And I said, no more I can have clips I know what's going on I know all the vibes but I don't need to sit down for an hour and a half and watch it depending on the night oh my gosh okay so it's a real undertaking yeah it's not for me I don't think it's for you guys but I do appreciate that people are liking it and I'm not surprised that people are liking a show that comes out every night did you have a question or something to say on it I've really been wondering Oh, okay.

Let's talk about the iPad on the airplane. Salad, the only one, only little tidbit that I, that I like to take away is, um, it's funny. Cause Tate like has pretty much no interest in the iPad still, but we do like to, somebody said in the comments, make it like a rental on the airplane.

54:29Like it only exists on the airplane and we are doing that. I think it's a really good idea. yeah i these apps that make you do the in-app purchases they are so frustrating like we were told to buy these games download the games we like download the games and then we get on the plane and we try to play the games but you need to do all the in-app purchases in-app purchases are like impossible to do on a flight and so like it just the whole thing wasn't as effective as as it should have been. She was loving the piano, though. Yeah, but then she'd hit the button and then you'd have to pay and we couldn't...

55:07What did you have to pay for? To unlock... You download them for free and then they'll give you four keys and if you hit the fifth key, it makes you pay for it. That's insane. I just want... I just let us pay$3.99 for the app and let it be. It's$6.99 to unlock every single instrument so terrible customer experience it was like by the time we were done I mean we were gonna be in it for like 30 35 bucks but like so they give you the instrument when you click instrument they give you the piano for free but if you want the saxophone you got to pay you want the drums you got to pay and that's hard for with kids because they see it and they want to click it all and it's like not their fault but no H did I think it played into predatory

55:57overstimulating kids and extracting dollars from their parents. Hold on. I think we're being too harsh on the games because we're going to use the games again. We're going to use the games again on the airplanes. She liked the games. No, Harrison, all we need to do, honey, is look at the iPad the night before and download the games. Yes. This is our first time, so I'm totally with you. But what I'm saying is... watching her click those buttons and her eyes light up and her just like that it was like oh this is not good it was interactive though i agree i mean like for the airplane because we want to keep things under control on the airplane but like i my take from watching her interact with the ipad was that is a scary device for children Okay, that's very interesting.

56:49Yeah, and I think with age and we're trying to keep her away from the overstimulating things, they seem dangerous. We are really trying to keep her away from all overstimulations. All right, let's do two more things. So the first one is, do you have an update for us on the 530A accounts? I do not because I did not research them, so hopefully I will research them. But I know they're alive and I need to get to this because we don't have them set up yet. All right. What about this? Did you know that one in three adults, adult being 25 years and above in the United States, live with their parents?

57:35I did not know it until I read the stat. And I thought it was interesting. It was higher than I would have expected. I also saw that a third of those people are doing it to safer down payment, which speaks to the affordability crisis going on in the U.S. right now. Yeah. And what do you what do you think of this? Well, I think that two more kids named Tate and Rocky are going to also be they're going to fall right into this category. um i think okay so in other cultures i know a lot of times that they view the their house as like a family asset right so the grandparents the kids everyone lives there i love that i think during covid when one of the good things that came out of covid was when kids would go home and live with their parents again like people had a blast yeah so i'm not i i'm all i'm saying is i'm surprised by the statistic.

58:30That it's so high. I was surprised it was one in three. Yeah. You know, it creates a really unique, it creates a great dynamic when you have multi-generations living under one house. Like grandparents are more involved in raising kids in other cultures, right? And aunts, aunts and uncles are a really big part of it. You know, like everyone lives together or next door to each other, which I think is really cool. so now can I tell you some other things that different cultures do that is different from us okay let's hear it I think these are really cool so Denmark letting your baby nap in a stroller outside in the cold while you eat or shop inside I think the key word here is in the cold do you remember when we were in um Montana and we did the sledding yeah and Bubber fell asleep yeah and I made it I made a tick tock about it yeah everyone was commenting saying I think it's Norway that their babies sleep outside in the cold and they were like this is a norwegian some there's a bunch didn't we just say norway no we said it was denmark and norway uh no it's in copenhagen okay well sorry copenhagen's in denmark oh my goodness there's just cultures that let their baby sleep outside yeah and what they were saying is this is maybe i don't remember what culture it was but babies nap like that and it's yeah she was scandinavia snoring yeah no i i i think there's to me two things jump out to this like it it was very interesting watching tate sleep in the cold and understanding how common that is elsewhere the leaving your child outside unattended like if you do that in the u.s you'll have the cops called on you so quickly to the point do you remember in aspen we were we left the coffee shop and there was a baby in a stroller that appeared to be unattended.

1:00:18The parent was on the other side of the glass at the bank using the ATM. And the parent saw us stop and be like, where's, like, was this child left behind? And he was like this. He was like, we're good. And I was like, oh, okay. And like, knocked, noticed it truly in under five seconds. But like, we were, we fell victim to even letting that happen. Yeah, we were like, oh my gosh, is this baby unattended? Like the culture here is just so never leave your child unattended, even if that isn't like necessary. That's just how it is. It is necessary is the is the sad reality. Not to bring it to dogs, but I feel like it's even less common to leave your dog unattended outside.

1:01:00And 100 percent. 100 percent, Jules. So I think that's a really cool thing that Denmark does. All right, Japan, letting your seven year old ride the subway alone. incredible and i imagine it being very orderly yeah i've talked about uh somebody's in japan on here yes the coolest they're the best here's my question though at what age in the u.s do most parents let their kids use public transportation by themselves they have to be at least in ohio you have to be 12 to be left alone at home so i would assume so we have laws on when children can be left correct I don't know let me look at what it is in Texas but I know Ohio is 12 there also needs to be a law for that I think it's it's great to that's a very foreign law I mean some people might think it's okay at seven and I just don't think it is Texas doesn't have a legal age okay there it is but the recommend the recommended age is 12 to that's when you can start leaving your kid at home alone and letting them use public transport?

1:02:09Well, I don't think that public transport was included in that, was it? No. But that does seem like the same age to me. I don't know. That directionally makes sense. They need to have some sort of a cell phone, I would think, here if they're using public transportation, right? Yeah, this is Texas specific. It says, for riding unsupervised, most transit authorities and child safety experts agree that kids are generally ready between ages 9 and 12. Wow. Depending on the maturity. In Austin, you have to be older than 10. I was in the process, and I'm going to finish it now, pre-ordering this, call it a dumb phone.

1:02:53For you? And it has maps. It can take calls from your saved numbers. And it has Spotify. so you can listen to podcasts. Oh, the dumb phone having Spotify. Finally. Yeah. Like that's what we need. And now I'm good. If I could also get Spotify, I would really, you know, it duels up what I'm going to get into. Books on tape. I love that for you. My screen time is down. What do you think my screen time is now? I checked this morning. We're three hours. I was going to say something like, I was trying to think with work. We're trying to get it down to two. But it's inflated because like we had the airplanes and the travel and I'm down to four let me see if I want to get to two I think we could do it I think we can really you guys in that venture yeah Vietnam potty training from birth with a whistle out of diapers by nine months they're Pavlov dog in the kid okay so you whistle like similar we talked about with the bell with the with the with the dogs they're classically conditioning the the child to use the restroom but like if i would that rocky could not be classically conditioned at this moment you need to meet like you've met him but at 11 weeks like he cannot he could not so i want to hear more about this have you i i would have to do maybe we can do a little bit more research but one of my friends did just sent me a video on this it's called like elimination Okay, I want to deep dive into this.

1:04:30Let's come back. Let me come up with what the word is. Elimination communication. I'm interested in, are you blowing the whistle to signal that they should go to the bathroom? Yes, I'm assuming. When does elimination communication start? Because I agree. It can start as early as three to four months old. Okay, that makes sense. Well, Rocky's almost three months old. I don't know how that would work. I think it's a lot. You have to have a lot of time on your hands. Yeah, I don't know how we would possibly tie the whistle to the peeing, but maybe. I would like to read more about this. I'm very interested in this one.

1:05:10Argentina. Kids stay up until 10 or 11 so they can be at the family dinner. Well, what time is the family dinner? Nine? Nine or 10? Probably. To me, this is just going to be like, what age? because I see so much value in keeping Tate on her bedtime routine and on her schedule that that's going to be age-dependent for me. Well, I don't think we're saying we're going to do these. I think we're talking about how Argentina does them. And this is what I'll say about this is we had a friend who – she's got a two-year-old who's on her schedule and one day she came over around like 10 and he came with her and I was like wait he's awake and he's like tate's age and she was like yeah he's on my schedule I'm not on his and I was like that's awesome and like I it's very different than what we do but I think this is really cool that like if kids just stay up till 10 or 11 and they have a family that they're at nine that's very cool I wonder what time they sleep until Japan the whole family co-sleeping from birth until your kids start school how cute I want to turn our bedroom into giant mattress are their beds regular size that's not a king bed that's a maybe a California king yeah or larger um all right do you want to discuss the world cup very quickly it's very sad that we're out oh the the U.S.

1:06:39soccer momentum is dead like I think like people are sad that we're out it was so fun there's one thing i do want to discuss on this matter and that is the difference between watching sports with americans versus canadians and just like how different our dna is around expectations and the way we like talk about our respective teams like when you watch sports with a canadian our general like verbiage around the game is like great effort we put up a really good fight versus like we watched the last game with with uh it was you and the neighbors and like there was one expectation and that expectation was to win that was it we were so mad i was like are you kidding me and like it was funny like every time the u.s was kind of making a comeback i'm talking all right like putting a good effort here and you guys like no no the ball goes in the net okay and and short of the ball going in the And there was absolutely zero acceptance for what was going on.

1:07:43And I just like, it's funny because just growing up, like, other than hockey, like, Canada never really won anything. We were just historically happy to, like, make the World Cup. No. You know. That's very everyone gets a trophy. If we, like, played a team tough, like, that was, you know, we played them tough. And you even saw that with Canada's results. Like we, when we advanced to the round of 16, the coach's speech to the players is like, you guys are now national heroes. We're making the round of 16. Yeah. Versus here, like the players are getting taken to the woodshed. I do think, unfortunately, on that note, like the loss, the way in which they lost and the country who they lost to couldn't have gone any worse.

1:08:31Like, I think the U.S., like, let's say soccer came in to the World Cup with, like, 6 out of 10 momentum, U.S. soccer. I think, like, we'd reached 9, 9.5 out of 10 momentum. Like, on our flight home, there was a dad and two sons, all three of them wearing U.S. soccer jerseys. I think after that game, like, we may be exiting the World Cup at 5.5 out of 10. Like we may be exiting in a worse place than we entered. It's more on my radar now. But it was the most viewed soccer game of all time. Okay, you had 37 million people during peak viewership. It's amazing. Amazing, but then you watched a really bad loss to a team that like, I think if they'd lost to Brazil, who's out, or they lost to Spain.

1:09:27Spain. they lose to Spain or France in penalty kicks. I think you can walk away from it being like, you know what, we put up a shot, and if one or two things go a different way, like we advance, versus losing to Belgium, who while they're good at soccer, they don't get the overwhelming credit for being a national powerhouse, and getting smoked. Yeah, terrible. Who's Belgium? Celeb-wise, we didn't cover Belgium. great question jules um i would say belgium is uh off the radar not on the radar but gives you sneaky good performances so who does like who doesn't get talked about a lot but dakota what's her name when they dakota johnson dakota johnson but then when they show up in a role like oh wow you put up a good performance i love that one that's belgium okay dakota yeah the at the game full circle because they showed the guy on the screen that left to go have his baby i saw and i said i know that guy same jules i was like oh that's him he was good yeah sure i don't know anything here's who argentina is who is the grammys or who sorry who is the oscars incredibly corrupt towards in a bad way in a good way oh who just like they just give them awards because that is who argentina has become oh you're asking you don't have someone in mind no okay i don't know like who just wakes up and get us gets oscars well who has the most oscars doesn't mean that they're corrupt towards no but there is a lot of politics it does the way that like jack nicholson oh who's next no but that's kind of a good one like jack nick like argentina's jack nicholson they have had an unbelievable career but like the fifa's just keeping them around yeah to keep them in the game and same thing with jack who's second most um well jack nicholson was second most daniel day lu daniel day lewis was first i mean that's crazy Daniel Day-Lewis is a great actor, but like.

1:11:48That's kind. And Sean Penn. Oh. Yeah, I mean, that's. The Argentina-Egypt game was a bad, was also a very bad look for soccer. Why? A very bad look for soccer. Because Egypt was up 2-0. They had a very, they just had a very, very questionable. Call? Goal pulled back. and Argentina just seemed to be handed call after call, penalty kicks. So you said that FIFA's very corrupt. And in what way? Like, is somebody from Argentina like, I'll pay you 20 grand for you to swing this game? Like, is that the real level of corruption that's happening? I have no idea.

1:12:35But, you know, I honestly, I don't know the inner workings of it. So I don't even want to open the can of worms. I think that's the word on the street. But, like, you don't actually know. Yeah. Well, if it's a... I believe referees in sport are given guidance. What? Yes. I believe that. They should not be. The ball doesn't lie. They should let it play out. I believe that the referees are being guided that it is better for the tournament if Messi sticks around. If Messi sticks around. Argentina. That's probably true, I guess. and do what you can to make that happen and maybe they maybe they were told to let the u.s win but then the referee was like dude are you seeing this because there's nothing they can do this one's out of my hands the goalie came out of the goal people wanted yes it would have been very good for america to keep running to of course ticket prices were down like 50 across all games but we're the hosts like we needed to go to the games all right bye but back to being tier three sport now no i i i really enjoyed the world cup i'm very bummed we're out yeah we this was a it was as bad of a loss as you could have taken it's too bad it's sad and and the police the guy the face of america he had an all-time bad exit interview all-time bad oh what did he say hold on it's easy it's easy to hate for us to hate okay so we're gonna stop we're gonna stop yeah We don't play soccer.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Wednesday!!! We're back in Austin after our family “vaccination” (lol iykyk ) in Colorado (and we have a lot to catch up on!!!). First: a question from a viral video that has literally broken our brains all week - are your friendships hobby-based or BUDGET-based?! (& why we think the answer depends on the city you live in.)

Then we spend a solid 25 minutes doing SMASH or PASS on every detail we've heard from the Taylor Swift x Travis Kelce wedding, because there's just no other way to cover it… 1000 guests, MSG, Adam Sandler officiating, 20 minute vows, arcade games, Krispy Kreme trucks, the whole thing 🤯 (we hit every single one.) PSA: you do NOT have to like Taylor Swift to follow along… this became what WE would do at our wedding lol.

Moving on, Harrison is officially declaring July 5th to be New Year's Day 2.0 (a little mid-year reset). Which somehow spiraled him into a pool update (and we genuinely need your help: is it OK to have grass around your pool or does it need to be pavers or turf?!).

Following up on last week, we share the postpartum anxiety tools that actually landed from your messages: A.N.T.s (automatic negative thoughts!) and "name it to tame it" (there's real science behind why saying it out loud helps 🥹).

Plus a TON more: is Love Island really worth the daily commitment?!, in-app purchases on kids' iPad games = predatory , 530A accounts, the fact that 1 in 3 adults over 25 live with their parents in the US (surprising but… kind of amazing?), parenting norms around the world, and Team USA is officially OUT of the World Cup 😭.

LOVE YOU GUYS!
