In short

The hosts discuss mindset and self-acceptance (“enjoy the progress”), then pivot into a detailed planning chat about an upcoming Vancouver trip (including a possible ACDC concert, Grouse Mountain “Gross Grind” hike, Whistler, and family events). They also cover sports and parenting-adjacent topics: CFL criticism, education options (K-12-powered online schools), and the escalating cost/flashiness of dorm-room “luxury tiers.” The episode ends with a “member-guest” golf cheating scandal story and debate about sportsmanship.

Guests

No guests appear in the transcript; it’s just the hosts (Ryan Reynolds ad read; the main hosts are Harrison and Jules, plus recurring references to family/friends like “Jules,” “Harrison,” and “P”).

Key claims

Social media pushes constant improvement; you should enjoy where you are now. Dorm-room upgrades can cost more than tuition for a semester. CFL should adopt an NFL-style farm system and fix structural differences (3 downs, field/ball changes). Golf cheating undermines trust; hole-in-one celebrations make cheating especially harmful.

Notable examples

A man allegedly pre-placed a ball in the cup to fake a hole-in-one during a member-guest tournament in Kansas City, leading to ESPN coverage and club expulsion. Vancouver itinerary includes Whistler dining (Wild Blue, Sushi Village), possible UBC “Alaska” filming sightings, and a charity golf tournament after an aunt’s passing.

0:00Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here from Mint Mobile. Now I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless wireless for$15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made$15 bills, but it turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash switch. Upfront payment of$45 for three months,$90 for six months, or$180 for 12-month plan required. $15 per month equivalent. Taxes and fees extra. Initial plan term only. Greater than 50 gigabytes may slow when network is busy. See terms. So I would love to start today off with a big an-ass.

0:34No, I'm just kidding. But what I would love to start - With what? Obviously, I was setting this. I was doing a pump fake, like we're going to do a big announcement, but we're not. Oh, what? I didn't hear the words you said. Okay, bad intro, bad start, bad joke, dad joke. So, but what I would love to start today off with is the tweet of the week that I sent this morning. Okay. Did you see it? No, so that's exciting. I put it in the group chat and I don't have my phone, so I can't read it. My phone is over there. Okay. Your phone's over there? Yeah. I would like to start off with a slow clap for that.

1:04Harrison, that's on growth. You know, I'm gonna go get no no no no no no no no no no no no the vibes are so Good with your phone over there. What do I need to look up? I'll look up anything Well, I put in the group chat this morning. Okay, Jules. Can you help us here? Is it this one your relationship? With yourself? Yes. Okay. Okay. It says your relationship with yourself cannot be built entirely around Improvement at some point you have to become someone you are allowed to enjoy being you get to be proud of who you are present tense Love it. And I think that, so let's discuss this for a bit because I do think one thing about our generation is we, and social media perpetuates this, is the idea that what you've got is not good enough, that you need to strive for more, that we need to do all of these things and instead say, hey, let's be really proud of where we've gotten.

1:56Let's exhale and let's enjoy it. I found myself very guilty of this. That's why I shared it, because it really struck a chord with me. And where it particularly struck a chord was around fitness.

2:13I'm working so hard on the fitness front, but when I take a step back, I want to be really proud of all the progress that I made. And while I'm so far away from a lot of athletes that I respect and admire who are in their mid-30s doing a wide array of events, I should actually be proud of the progress I've made. And I haven't done that. But it hits on a lot of other areas beyond that. So today's my day of appreciating or of shifting my mindset and appreciating where we are in so many places. I think that I hope the listener can do that, too. But now now here's the other thing I will say. There's phases, right?

3:06There's the there's the prep phase, the build phase, the grind phase. What are the phases? I actually have no idea what you're talking about. So, OK. Oh, Jay Shetty talks about them. I want to say loosely it's prepare. Jules can you help me here I guess what I'll bring about I feel like I've worked my butt off I've been on a sprint since the beginning of the year in a wide variety of ways I talked about it getting myself in the best possible place before Rocky comes getting everything my general life and 10 squared away and yeah I feel really good about things so I guess I'm doing a personal brag I'm doing a personal brag I'm sorry about that prepare practice protect perfect that's not what i'm talking about here that's not what i was no i'm talking about work like work about locking in working hard and then lifting your head up and say okay i'm actually happy with the state of things but that's what i was going to say so so jay has this thing where he says there's different you're going to have different years and your year can be dedicated maybe this year is dedicated to researching something maybe this year and that could be fitness for example could be like trying out different types of fitness then you've got years that are dedicated to the grind and you're saying you the nap i found the nap the nap has hit me in the face um and you're saying right now your phase that you're in is enjoy the progress enjoy what you've done which i really like yeah and good for you well actually making the shift to and to enjoy it's allowing yourself to enjoy and being And being honest about where you're at personally.

4:52And is it the time to grind? Is it the time to improve? Is it the time to say, I'm actually feeling good about where things are at intent? I feel great about flock. I feel great about our family life. I feel great about our relationship. I feel great about the physical and mental health side of things. So I'm grateful today. Good. Knock on wood. Knock on wood. You can knock on paper because paper comes from wood. I have wood beside me I think that was a great line Paper does come from wood jewels Someone commented the other day And they were like Alex is sneakily the funniest person ever Because she just says things like that But that wasn't an attempt to be funny I know and it's hilarious though Yeah Thanks for thinking I'm funny Jules That really made me happy Well where to from here Well do you think I'm funny Good question

5:47because one thing i think about you like okay so i think it's important to think your partner is a lot of things like i think you are um very very very smart but also emotionally um in touch you've got a high eq but i think you're really funny so an example of the most recent time where i thought you were really funny was when you were driving the neighbors to the airport and you wore a tux like little things like that. I wear a suit to drive me to the airport. I think are really funny. I was a driver. But I don't actually think, I don't think Harrison thinks I'm funny at all. Like I don't think you laugh at me ever.

6:24I like will giggle at you and I'll just be like, he's cracking me up. You don't, I don't make you laugh. Oh my God, I don't make you laugh. No, I laugh. I clearly don't. No, I laugh with you. I definitely laugh with you. At what? When's the last time you laughed with me? I don't think you like make, you don't make jokes you don't make jokes but she says things like knock on the paper because it comes from wood that's hilarious and so yes you make me chuckle I don't oh my gosh aww my friends call me on the podcast the giggle track so you are Jules you guys are both funny you didn't start out that way but she has recently become the giggle track well yeah okay Okay.

7:09We got a welcome. Oh, my gosh. Okay. Forewarning. Friday's episode, no welcome. Wow. Okay, guys. Good. So we recorded a Q &A yesterday that's going to come out on Friday because we're going to be traveling to Vancouver. And good to know, no welcome. The classic slipped my mind. Sorry. Okay. Do you want to talk about Vancouver? No, let's do two welcomes now. Okay. I'll give you one for today. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. and this one's for Friday. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents and a Podcast. Okay, there we go. Sorry for the repetitiveness. So I think we should talk about Vancouver off the top.

7:49Let's do it. Okay. Question one for Vancouver. We leave tomorrow. We leave tomorrow. We have a house sitter. Yep. So we don't have to like, we can leave the house kind of like we can sort of just tuck and roll out. Yep. And a couple other things behind that. But... So we land. Yeah, that's good. My sister is going to an ACDC concert tomorrow. They are still around? Or the real ACDC? The real ACDC. Do we want to go see ACDC tomorrow night? Can anyone name P? Do you even know who ACDC is? Yeah, her face. Okay, she does now. Okay. I don't think I can name an ACDC. Thunderstruck. Yeah, okay, that's a good one.

8:33I know that one. You could probably name like every ACDC song if you saw a list of the songs. Give me two. Back in Black, Highway to Hell. Highway to Hell, that's a good one. You Shook Me All Night Long. Stop it, they sing that? I might want to see them. I love that song. They're legendary. One more, give me one more. I thought they may have been dead. I thought for sure they were extinct. TNT. What's that? TNT. I can't sing it on the pod, but. I don't know it. You know it. Okay. Can we at least Play her the song And we can cut that out So that way we don't get the trademark violations So she knows She knows She's singing all of them So do we want to see them Let me tell you one Word It's two words That is coming to mind When I think about going to an ACDC concert Yeah Cortisol spike Like, I am like, whoa, that seems like it would be a lot.

9:41It's at the big football stadium. You know, my postpartum vibe is like less cortisol spiking. Like, does Alex typically want to go to an ACDC concert? Yes, with an exclamation point. But like, I'm trying to like sort of be a more self-carey vibe. Yes, but this does, and I fully appreciate that and respect that, this also is what makes planning very hard right now. And no one's disagreeing with that. Yes. But I feel like I'm getting in a bit of, I've been hearing a lot of commentary on the lack of planning I've been doing. And what have I said about planning? I will, and I'm doing, and while you're doing a lot of planning, I'm doing a lot of repeating, but I'm happy to do it one more time.

10:25So I loved being in Austin, right? and I've loved being in Austin and really getting in our routine. Now with that being said, I don't want to stay home every night. Okay? Yep. And have you heard this before? Does it sound familiar? Yeah. So we can go out and do things here. Now going to Vancouver, that in and of itself is going to be like an event and so like then we're going to tack on an ACDC concert. It's right behind my parents' house. Okay, let's go. I'd love to. No, no, we're not going. I want to go. I'll buy the tickets and we'll go. But do you see my point of like, so what Harrison's referring to is like, last weekend I was like, man, I'm like a bit bored because we've been in Austin for a while, which I love being in Austin.

11:09I love our routine, but I also like want to go to dinner. You know? Yeah. But now going to Vancouver, which I'm very excited about, and I'm pumped about the weather and I'm pumped about our plans because we're going to do some Whistler, some Vancouver. It's beautiful in the summer. Like this is an ideal trip for us. I don't think it's fair to say that's making planning hard we have our plans I feel like I make a suggestion like an ACDC concert and there's a problem with it and that's fine that's fine I thought an ACDC concert would have been such a fun unique experience well now I want to go let's go we're not going it would be fun and I also love hanging out with your sister so I do kind of want to do that how are we like okay are we walking to the concert yep we don't have to stay the whole time uh i think staying for an hour would be really nice an hour would be the target and do you think they'll play you shook me all night long at the beginning or the end i'm sure they have the set list jules is a set list master so we can find the set list and plan our timing based off that i would like i'm sure my mom would like to go too okay great that would even be more fun so let's do that my dad would not like to go well a big concert guy him what about bubber like what we do with bubber she'll stay with my dad and rocket man he'll be just be sleeping yeah okay okay great let's put a tbd in it tbd put a pin in it bubber goes to canada okay i love when tate goes to canada and rocky it's rocky's first time rocky's never been to canada no he has a passport though But he can go.

12:46He's allowed. He's got his documents. He's got his plane ticket. His passport photo. It's so cute. Rocky on the road. Rocky Road. Off he goes. Oh, I'm so excited. It's going to be really cute. Okay, so tell us the rest of our plans. All right. So Thursday night, we're going to do family dinner and then either go to the ACDC concert or not. But I just need everyone to realize, because I'm feeling a little bit bad about my response on the AZDC concert. We sat down and had a whole talk about our plans. But if you don't want to do it, we don't need to do it. That's fine. We'll move it on. I'm torn.

13:28Friday morning, I'd love to go and do the gross grind. Okay. And how hard is that? It's a mountain hike. It's very... Friday afternoon? Yeah, because we're going to record Friday. No, I want to do it before recording Friday. because we have the two hour time swap. Oh, so we'll be up early. So like if I, if it's 6 a.m. there, it's 8 a.m. here. So like I can be up at six and do it, you know, and be back by 7.30 in the morning. Gotcha. How hard is this hike? It is, so there's a local mountain in Vancouver called Grouse Mountain. It's a really, really, really cool mountain. It's like 20 minutes from the city.

14:12operates year round and so you're you're climbing you're hiking a mountain it's like uh i feel like most mountains kind of have those hikes to mid station that if you're in great shape take you know call it 40 to 50 minutes and if you're not in as good shape it takes two hours so and so gross the gross grind is probably on the lower end of that where 40 minutes is if you're in good shape and an hour and a half if you're not in so good of shape i think you and your dad should do it honestly i think i think like that that sounds like something that would be because i have a hike will just it's gonna kick my butt right now we did it we did a what's the lowest level we did a green hike in aspen i was i was dying i was like i'm die.

15:04Bless you. That hike though was poorly. Um, that was a medium hike that we did. That was, that was marked wrong. Okay. Cause I did like, it like kicked my butt and I was sore. Yeah. That was, that's a ridiculously marked hike. But you know, I'm just a, I'm a three plus months post part. I'm like, I don't, I'm not going to bust up a hike. You and your dad should do it. That'd be great. I started using Osea's body oil during my pregnancy with Rocky. Still use it today, you guys and it honestly became one of those non-negotiable steps in my routine i combine it with my lotion i am obsessed with it after i get out of the shower i posted about it on social media one of my friends dm'd me asking if i also use their hyaluronic body serum and i was like i do not so i obviously had to order it instantly and they actually sell it at the salon i go to and now i am hooked on both you guys what stood out to me at first was how weightless it is it's a gel serum so it absorbs instantly there's no sticky or tacky feeling it's just smooth hydrated skin and I run dry.

16:01So this is like a dream for me. And I've been using it after my shower. Then I layer on the body oil over it for extra moisture and it locks it in. And my skin has literally never felt better, especially in the Austin summer and between the sun and the AC, my skin needs all the hydration it can get. The serum is powered by five molecular weight of hyaluronic acid. So you're putting on a multi-layer of hydration deep into the skin. And it's clinically shown to boost hydration by 161 % after just one use. One use. You guys, Osea has been doing clean clinically tested skincare from the sea for 30 years.

16:38It's a mother-daughter founded brand, which I love, out of Malibu. And honestly, they didn't follow clean beauty. Clean beauty caught up to Osea. Osea's Hyaluronic Body Serum is a multi-layer hyaluronic powered hydration for the entire body. and right now we have a special discount just for you guys get 10 off your first order site wide with code two parents at osea malibu.com that's code two parents at osea malibu.com yeah so we come back we record then we have lunch with my sister then we go up to whistler we have date night friday night at wild blue which is my favorite restaurant in canada yeah then saturday that's such an easy claim like the whole the whole country of canada that's For sure my favorite restaurant.

17:20It's probably like would stack up. I'm not kidding. No, I'm serious. It's my favorite restaurant. Then Saturday. I love that place. We have Saturday and Sunday. We have the day in Whistler. We have a family reservation at Sushi Village Saturday night. And then hopefully I hike up Whistler. I just texted my cousin and uncle about that. And then. And I'm not going to attend that, but I would like to come up there to see you. Yeah. I'd love you and the kids to meet us at the top for lunch. Would love to. And then we're back to Vancouver Monday. One thing about Bubba, she loves the gondola. Oh, she will.

17:56Oh, yeah, because she did in Aspen. She did the gondola in Aspen. And then the next day, she took our hand and walked us over to the gondola area and was pointing at the gondola. So she would like to do the gondola. For sure. And then my dad is hosting a charity golf tournament for my aunt who recently passed away. On Monday, correct. On Monday. and so I'll be at that during the day. And do Tate and Rocky need to come say hi to you there or no? Yes. After the tournament, like there's a dinner thing. Great. And then Tuesday, hanging out in Van and flying back Wednesday. And do I attend the dinner?

18:31Yes. And what is the attire? Golf club attire. Oh, I don't know. I just been looking for a reason to get some anything. So I'm going to get me a golf attire. Is there time for Alex to go to the University of British Columbia where they're filming off-campus season two? Jules, I'll make it a priority. I will move it to the top of my list. Do you think I'll see them around there? They're all out and about in Vancouver right now. We will see one. Let's manifest it. Everyone manifest it together. You have to visualize seeing them. The curly hair. I'm thinking they could go to Whistler. Like they could go maybe if they have like an off day.

19:10But I'm thinking we will likely see them Monday or Tuesday. yeah very nice should we ask for a selfie we'll drive by ubc i can't believe they're filming it in ubc yeah that's where they film the first season as well what about a boat day so you guys i'm sure everyone that's listening or maybe you haven't seen the proposal but you know that the alaska waters type situation like they they land in alaska and they take the boat out to his house that's exactly what it looks like boating around vancouver it's the most beautiful thing on the planet if we're going to do both that's going to need to be tuesday okay well we'll just maybe we'll put a pin in it maybe maybe not but it sounds like a very fun itinerary i'm so excited yeah the acd concert is going to be awesome i can't wait what should i wear what should i wear to it i think black i think i oh my gosh i used to have oh i think it's rolling stones i think i'm going to push this concert it was an alice and olivia shirt and they still sell it in the store i think and it's either ACDC or Rolling Stones with a tongue and it's got a bedazzled shoulder pads.

20:13It's a t-shirt. It's awesome. Okay, the other big question. If it's ACDC, I will attend. The other big question. What? Is, can we pull it up because I think it's Sunday, but assuming it is Sundays, do we want to go to BC Lions game, CFL, the Redound football? Okay, hold on. Number one, sound off in the comments if you think I should go to the ACDC concert. Sorry. I'd actually, yeah, I'd love to hear the feedback on that. I'd love to hear you vote. And I want you to take into account a couple things. Number one, I'm tired. Just in general. So then we're not going. We're not going. But number two, I'm spontaneous.

20:48And I think you only live once. And you have to imagine, like, this stadium is right by his parents' house. And you can truly walk. And it's pretty awesome. So I do think it would be cool. So let me know what your vibe is. Because, like, I can get behind it. Do we have a BC Lions game or no? No, not till the 23rd. Okay, I misread that. And that's the British Columbia, which is the equivalent to what? It's a province. It's equivalent to a state. So Vancouver is the city. Yes. Which would be like Austin. We are the sibling of Washington state. But let's do this to Texas. Why don't we do it to Washington?

21:30Because I don't know anything about Washington. But I'll bring it all together and I'll incorporate Texas into it. Vancouver is Seattle. British Columbia is Washington. Calgary is Dallas. Alberta is Texas. Toronto is New York. Toronto is New York. Great. What's the parent there? Ontario is New York State. Ontario is New York State. Yes. Sorry, where are we going with this? provinces well I was gonna because you were saying the D.C. Lions so I was saying is that like the Texas Lions so state so shouldn't it be the Vancouver Lions Seattle Seahawks yeah are there any Dallas Cowboys like New England New England the Patriots yeah but they're not called the Boston Patriots but they're not called the Massachusetts Patriots Tampa Buccaneers.

22:32Everyone's a city. Yeah. That's smart. You get the whole province's support. There we go. That's amazing. They should have... Okay, I love Canada. I'm just saying they could have called it the Canada Lions and they could have had the whole country support. The bigger issue... Have I talked about the CFL before? A little. Canadian football league. Okay. There's never been a bigger missed opportunity in sports than the CFL. And someone is going to make a heap of money by turning this thing around. Okay. So we have the Canadian Football League. All right. The greatest game in the world, we've somehow managed to slightly butcher.

23:14Okay. And we've done this. Instead of four downs, we have three downs. That's ridiculous. And we've changed the field size. Let me guess. It's smaller. It's bigger. Oh. And we've made the ball bigger. okay why not just america has perfected football let's thank you copy and paste it and let's make it the feeder league to the nfl the nfl doesn't have a farm team so an effective farm system and that is what the cfl needs to be why did they see that like why if you're canada why would you look at america and be like they're nailing that that's perfect let's do it different you would think they'd be like ego they're doing it that way it's an ego thing let's make the ball bigger it's an ego the field bigger and let's remove it down that doesn't make any sense it would be a great it would be it would be great for them to be at the farm team and people like i played in canada for a bit then i moved up yeah and there's so many college athletes that would benefit from that uh from that transition period what's going on salary wise for them up there it's like good enough to um if you're if you're a great player then the salaries are quite good like what uh i mean let's pull them up but i think i think like good players make over a million bucks but the but our good players are making like a hundred yeah but the fringe players are making quite a bit less now a lot of the fringe players do work two jobs so it's it's the league is it It needs improvement.

24:49But there are literal neighbors. Financially, the league is not thriving. But they're our neighbors, so they should be able to adopt some of our things and improve it greatly. I'd always thought I was going to buy the BC Lions and turn it around. But now I live in Austin, so that's not going to happen. The highest paid person is on the BC Lions, and they make$684 ,000. That is so... So you make exponentially more. I think that the UT starting quarterback is speculated to be making$5 million a year. Canada's got to do something about this league. Where it's insane is this Diego Pavia guy. You remember him?

25:29No. So he was kind of the Johnny Menzel, the new age Johnny Menzel, went to Vanderbilt, electric factory, this guy. Not on an NFL roster. Get that guy. Make it beneficial to him actually playing the CFL. because at 500 grand he's going to get pulled in a lot of different directions he could do a podcast or he could do a something in sports commentary exactly he should be playing and he's not playing and Johnny could also play in Canada he did and he struggled in Canada? Johnny Manziel went to Canada yeah played for Montreal Alouettes did not do well I love Johnny the players up there they've talked about I think Chad Johnson played up there for a bit and it was him talking about it.

26:14The players up there are, the skill discrepancy is tiny versus the NFL. So the pay discrepancy doesn't make sense. And that's why we need to close the financial gap between the leagues. And the way to do that is to tie them together. I went to high school with a guy named Chad Johnson, but it was Chadwick. He was lovely. He was lovely. You guys know education is something Harrison and I talk about all the time. Even though we don't have school-aged kids yet, we've been thinking about this stuff since Tate was even born. We talk about it all the time over dinner. You guys hear us on the podcast.

26:48We always are wondering, like, how do we want our kids to learn? What environment sets them up for success? What would work best for our family? And one thing that's been eye-opening is realizing there are options we didn't even know existed until recently, like K-12-powered online schools. So K-12-powered online schools are tuition-free, accredited, and offered as online public education from kindergarten all the way to 12th grade. But what makes it different is the whole thing is built around meeting your kids where they are, their specific interests, how they learn best, what they want to go after.

27:21And I absolutely love that because one thing we are big on is doing the thing that works for your family, not just the one that's always been done, not doing things a certain way because every kid is different. So why shouldn't their education be? They've been leading the online education space for 25 plus years and now have served 3 million students. Their teachers are trained specifically in virtual instruction and offer real-time support all in an online setting that works for your family at home or wherever there's an internet. Huge for a family like ours that travels and doesn't really do the traditional route.

27:55Plus, there are extracurriculars so your kids can connect with peers and explore their interests too. It's not too late to enroll for this fall. See how K-12 powered schools can help your kids thrive this year and beyond. Enroll online today at k12.com slash two parents. That's the letter K, the number 12.com slash two parents. k12.com slash two parents. Okay, so on this, we're going to pivot. Okay. Just a light pivot to the dorm rooms we discussed. Oh boy. Because dorm rooms have completely exploded in terms of what they look like and what they cost. This situation is a nightmare. there i'm getting online every day and i'm seeing now i'm seeing closet tours closet tours that are in storage closets that they've converted i had let me tell you what i had it looked like an arm wall it was faux wood you opened it up that was your closet you could move them around that was your closet and that was what you had but this is where starts it starts early we cannot install this value system in our children.

29:08Yeah, but it's okay. So that's fine. Let's let me just give you a cost breakdown. And I think what's important about this is when you hire an interior designer for your house, okay, or you let's say you're going to take the luxury tier budget, which is 10 ,000 to$20 ,000. Okay. If you're going to spend that on your house, guess what? You can live in your house for as long as you want. The thing about a dorm room is it's one year, which school years aren't even 12 months. Yeah, it's like nine or maybe eight months total. Eight or nine months total. And the luxury tier is$10 ,000 to$20 ,000. What's included in that?

29:46High-end, full-service design, white glove move-in day installation. Let me tell you what, we also need to take into account the square footage of these dorm rooms. They're small. How could you possibly spend$20 ,000 doing a dorm room? Here's what blew my mind about this whole thing. When we first talked about it, what I envisioned is like, you know, a daughter and her mom or dad getting to school and buying the wallpaper and putting on the wallpaper themselves. And like while it was over the top, they were working to kind of put it together. I didn't see the videos last week. I saw the videos.

30:22I didn't realize that they were reveals. I didn't realize that the students were walking into the dorm rooms and being presented the grand bedroom. And that, it broke my brain. This is the one that gets me. It often features custom cabinetry to hide mini fridges.

30:44Custom cabinetry. You were going to be there for eight to nine months. And then you're going to move out. I'm sure the schools are having a blast with this on billing the students when they move out for all the damages. High-end lighting. Part of the dorm is having to do your makeup with that lighting. That kind of a light right there. That's what they have in dorm rooms. It's good light. In most dorm rooms. Yeah, I'm so out on this. I'm so out on this. Jules? Well, what I was going to say is I think, Harrison, you weren't on this episode, but we talked about like just the problem that's going on with like bachelorette parties these days and weddings and like how much money you're having to spend to go on those for your friends and what I said I always remember is like it's not my individual friend's fault like this is just how society works right now and so like with these dorm things I just I can't go and blame like these individual 18 year old girls it's like the fact that these services exist for someone to go spend twenty thousand dollars on and then you feel like you have to do it like you're you feel like i'm not blaming the girls yeah i'm not blaming the girls at all i think we need to get ahead of this as like and it's obviously super hard to talk about something that's you know 15 17 years out but i think like for us we need to set the expectation that that that isn't as a as i said beforehand where our values sit as a family but jules is making a different point like do you go on bachelor and bachelorette trips yes but i haven't been on one in a while yeah but like you you go on those yeah and they have gotten out like we're customizing towels we're customizing bags we're we're acquiring outfits like that is just where i think that's more of a girl thing than a guy but that but that's her point is like that's where society's gotten and now the problem is society's gotten here i think the other thing jules is like do you think this exists if there's not social media no if you have no one to show it to or does it matter like i said like girls were doing this 10 years ago when i was in college but like you only knew about it if you knew someone that was at an sec school or like you went and visited your friends and you were like whoa this is so different than anything i've experienced and like to your point It's just like, yeah, it's just exploded because of social media.

33:14And now we all know about it. Right. I mean, so we had like Bama Rush exploded. Yeah. Then they started doing, I don't know if you were on this, but I was on this last year. They would do outfit of the days of what they were wearing. Yeah. And then there was a girl who would total up what they were wearing. Yes. She would be like, okay, that was$50 ,000 because she had on like four Cartier bracelets. And I was like, wow. Like it was getting so expensive. Now this year, kind of the thing is we're getting the dorm room tours. So hold on, just so we can finish this. Luxury tier,$10 ,000 to$20 ,000.

33:50Premium tier,$4 ,000 to$8 ,000. Mid tier,$1 ,500 to$3 ,500. And a standard coordinated tier is$500 to$1 ,200. What's included in that? The students coordinate directly via shared spreadsheets. It relies entirely on standard big box retail items, matching color palettes for comforters, basic lighting enhancements, and budget-friendly storage solutions. What I think the most important thing here is, how much do you think college tuition is for, let's call it Ole Miss for one semester? In-state or out-of-state? In-state. Seven grand. Ten? That's per year. No, that's per year, so five. Okay, because I looked up OUs, and OU in-state was between five and seven a semester.

34:37So you're telling me you're going to spend more on your dorm room than you are on tuition. How much are drinks at these college bars? I want to say the average drink at the OE. When I was there,$7.47, I thought the average drink was$6 to$7.

34:55They're running a lot of specials, I feel like, at these college towns. But that's kind of what I'm getting at. Has drink inflation hit? But not that I drank in college, but if I did, I would imagine, and I'm kidding, I did. I would have pre-gamed, and then you buy one drink at the bar because the thing at college bars is you can't get to the bar you go there to socialize like to get up there and actually order a drink like wasn't really happening oklahoma bar school or a house party school both we were both we don't have a ton of bars though so we did a lot of house parties but you would also like walk to you'd pick the bars i know in my college town like the drinks are still the same price but it's like it's part of like the culture i don't know how to explain it yeah i think you were going and there was like at 1 p.m one dollar beers at 2 p.m two dollar beers 3 p.m like this thing called beat the clock and like that stuff all still exists that's funny so i think it's like pretty cheap still to drink in my town well you don't want to be drinking at midnight it only goes till four i i have a question what are we gonna go to lsu texas this year is it at lsu yeah have you been into an LSU game?

36:02No. Roughest fans? I've never been, actually. That's funny. I've heard my dad say that a million times. Those fans are brutal. Because I really, like, as you're talking about the$1 at one, I feel like Baton Rouge would have some awesome bars that I would love, love, love to go to. And there's, like, a lot of momentum behind different people going. And so if we do want to go, I think we want to make that decision soon and commit to a group. So what I love, not more than anything, but I love a lot is going like when I went to OU, I used to love to go to the away games. Yeah. Like I've been, I, I, I always think about tech, right.

36:41And like, we went to a Texas tech game cause I had a friend that was from there and like, it was so much fun. You'd get the two, you get the two bars that people go to, like you do game day with them. I do love doing that. So I've got one away game in me. Yes. Okay. Chad also wants to take us to college station this year. Now Chad And here we go again Is Hannah Chody's husband And they are Our characters on the podcast And I accept I would love to go to College Station Okay Would love Can we pull up the date of that game Please Is that Texas A &M? Yes Okay Good job Jules Football I would love to go to an A &M game I've never been there But I do think about Johnny football Jules got in trouble for Her football mistake On the last episode It was not my mistake Was it our mistake?

37:29It was Alex's mistake. What did I do? Tell me. You said the Baker Mayfield. He planted the flag at Ohio State. You said OU. Which is Ohio State. No. Oh, it's not OSU. You're right. Sorry. I am so sorry. But didn't you confirm it? No, I didn't. I pushed back once and I said, I think Ohio State. I just said Ohio State. And she said, no, Ohio University. Oh, sorry. I couldn't push back anymore. I was blending my Ohio State. Oh, I thought you did a search. Oh, no, no. We got that from you. My bad. I did the search and just saw Ohio and called it a day, but I was contemplating was it Tennessee or not.

38:03Look at how much tape looks like Rocky here. Oh, my God. H, we need you off all electronics. I know you can do it. I know that you can do it. Not even on the mic. The A &M game is November 27th. That's Thanksgiving. When's Thanksgiving? Probably the Thursday before that. Or is it early this year? oh i would love to know when thanksgiving is this year thanksgiving i don't think thanksgiving can be early isn't it the last hold on it's the 27th what day is that friday oh yeah i didn't realize that wait you didn't realize what thanksgiving with hannah and chad well i i think that i think that this game is always on the friday of thanksgiving that it probably is we OU, everybody has like an at-home, that's a thing.

38:58Yes. It's usually bedlam for us, OU, OSU, but it depends on where it's at. Oh, that throws a wrinkle in things. We'll have to sidebar on that. Because you know what we were thinking for Thanksgiving? We were thinking Christmas in Oklahoma and Thanksgiving. You ready? The Macy's day Thanksgiving parade. What do you think of that? I would love to go. Me too. I'm dying to go. like yeah me too jules i would i would die i would be so excited i don't know how we're gonna like do it but if we can figure it out i would love to do it i think it would be really hard i do too the thing i think is best is like look at the route the parade goes on the group chat because i don't have my phone just so we don't forget and find out what the deal with this college station i i i i will bet you so much money that we'll do it after and i won't forget okay please I think if you can get a hotel room on the path, the best route, think about this.

39:55You wake up Thanksgiving Day, you stay in your pajamas, and we all go to the window and we watch the parade. And I don't know if they do this for the parade, but they do it for New Year's. If you're staying somewhere, they give you confetti and you throw it out the window. Say less. And that's how they spread the confetti for New Year's? That? I did not know that. Yeah, I think they do it for Thanksgiving, too. okay we gotta look at the past I assume that we can find like we're gonna be yeah well bonus points if we have a balcony I doubt we will get this that just I feel like does not exist but maybe we don't know we don't know if we don't try I've never seen a balcony at a hotel in New York me neither but let's at least try maybe there's an Airbnb I was doing a hotel snooping I don't think New York has Airbnbs okay they don't it's a thing oh it's absurd That is absurd.

40:49Ugh. Well, listen, if we can make it happen, it'll be awful. There would be places to live. There would be all these people buying up Airbnbs and renting them out, and then no one would have any place to live. It's already hard enough. She's not wrong about that. It is already hard enough to find an apartment there. Are you anti-Airbnb? No, I love Airbnbs. But New York is just a different ballgame. She's correct. There's too many people trying to live there for us to be Airbnbing out the ones that are... Okay, I'm going to stay neutral on this point. Okay. Because as you know, I'm a big Airbnb fan now.

41:22I do know that. Yeah. Okay, so my friend Hannah recently told me that instead of defaulting to just plain black sunglasses, I should try getting sunglasses and colors that match my personal color palette. And you guys, I have been having so much fun with it. I've been playing around with different colors and frames that I would have never thought to try before. Oh, this was an unbelievable story. Okay. So on the front page of ESPN yesterday, there's a golf cheating scandal. Major drama in the golf world. But it's the normies. the normies are having a golf scandal. It's not the pros. Yes. Okay. I'm going to make this entertaining.

43:17Okay. So it feels like last weekend and right now a lot of country clubs are having their club tournaments, their member guest tournaments. And so we're in the thick of golf season and this happened in Kansas city. So basically the way this all played out is there's a guy playing with a group. And so I guess, do people know what a club championship would be? Should I explain that? I think I know what it is. And so I would guess most people do because I don't know why I would know that. Okay. Long story short, if you don't, if you're a member of a country club, once a year, they'll typically host a club tournament where everyone at the club plays in a tournament.

44:02And then once a year, they'll host a member guest where you are paired up with someone. One member's paired up with us. Each member brings a guest. Each member brings their guest. Okay. Done. You invite somebody. You invite a friend. Yes. So in this club's club championship, a group goes out and a guy, they're on the third hole and he says, hey, I got to peel off and take this call. I'll meet you guys. I'm going to tee off on the fourth hole so that way I don't hold you back and then I'll meet you on the fourth hole after I take my shot. So the group gets to the fourth hole and they say, hey, what's going on?

44:43How'd that shot go? He goes, honestly, I don't know. I think I may have hit it off the toe of my club and got good contact, but I didn't see where it landed up. So they go to the end of the fourth hole and looking for the ball, boom, the ball's in the cup. Hole in one. everyone goes crazy right everyone's celebrating then not sure what tipped them off but uh it leads to security looking at the tapes the night before and he drove to the fourth hole the night beforehand and placed his ball in the cup so he faked the hole in one p's face is very different than jules so jules like the p face is is like a massive like well jules is a well p's a golfer so she understands yeah this is a no no no i understand my face is like what a loser sorry no offense to that guy no i think i think you can actually say that okay thank you i believe that this is this is full-fledged loser behavior okay good so he's kicked out of the club.

45:56He should be. It's such a loser move that it made that in the thousands and thousands of club championships that are happening, this made the front page of ESPN because it is committing such a golf crime. Hold on. Think about how bad the crime needs to be for you to be a recreational golfer and make the front page of ESPN. I completely agree with that. Also - But here's my now take. Okay. Okay. You don't just wake up and do this. I agree. You premeditated. I want to know this guy's cheating history. Like what are other ways this guy's cheated? Like, so like, I'm not saying he needs to be fired from his job.

46:42I don't want anybody fired from their job, but I'm, I would take a deep look at like, I think you should be banned from golf course. I would just be like, lose your golf privileges. No, but here's the thing. this is okay so when somebody is doing financial crimes and they're like embezzling i can kind of be like that's not okay but like i understand your end goal there end goal there is to make more money right we're an anti-embezzlement i'm an anti i'm this is an anti-embezzlement podcast let me be very clear but i can at least understand why you would do it okay i can at least understand like you're trying to make more money no you're trying to like get ahead of the game professionally please like can you can you understand what i'm saying because he's trying to get ahead of he's trying to win his intramural sporting event like is he gonna win some like what's his motive i think you're trying to ask yes like so if you're maybe you're trying to pay your bills this guy's trying to what like get get us to clap for him it's full loser behavior uh it's i and it speaks volumes on if you're prepared to do this like what are the other ways in life he's cheating like if i'm playing golf with you and like you're gonna move you're gonna change the lie of your ball i want to know no i agree like if you're gonna change a lot of your ball i need a heads up it's like hey i'm gonna change the lie of this um i'm school like i'm gonna dock myself uh like you need i'm gonna dock myself as a stroke you need transparency on the golf course like that's the game is built off of trust but further like okay so yes to that even if somebody i don't know i'm gonna move my lie i'm not i'm not scoring today exactly i need full transparency or if you're gonna if you're gonna forget a stroke like we need we need to have full transparency on this i'm picking i'm picking up my ball i'm gonna score seven yes i I think that all of that.

48:43Do you agree with this, P? 100%. Yeah. You don't need to play it. It's a hard enough game if you're in front of the tree. You can move your ball a little bit. You've got to move your ball. But not in the member guest. You've got to tell the whole. Not in the member guest. You've got to tell your group that you did it. The most above board you have to be is at the member guest. Yeah. And you've got to reflect it in your scoring. Where I take further issue with this. I'm just going to put myself in this person's shoes. Not their shoes. I'm going to put you in their shoes. Yeah. if I found out that you did this, I would be like, I have to rethink everything I thought I knew about you.

49:21Because I don't want to be dramatic, but I think it's like, it's not a joke. It's like he was serious and he wanted to cheat and get a hole in one and the member guest. The big problem with it is the way hole in ones are celebrated. So for example, my dad got a second hole in one two weeks ago. Okay. good job exactly so the way the group chats worked is like that went through the country club so elliot who's actually becoming a character he's a member of the same country club as my dad he texted us elliot texted me being like and the group and the group being like um you know have you have you talked to your dad yet so it gets through everyone goes and meets in the clubhouse the person has to buy everyone drinks uh like people you know may not be at the club they'll come into the club like it's such a big deal no i know i take i take a very large issue with this because i think my brother-in-law like drove to the golf club to like meet him and the group the larger group for drinks it's just okay it's kind of giving this is my problem with it golf is an adult sport okay this is giving like i wanted my adult trophy i couldn't get it myself so i faked my adult trophy that's my pro like do you understand my issue that i'm having it was very like i needed that he needed that moment he needed to celebrate the hole in one and but he wasn't going to get it himself so he drove out there and he planted it yeah i'm i'm so uh so then i'm so then if you if we have kids i'm gonna ask you like what advice are you gonna give them do you know my i'm gonna when they can't run fast enough minorly zig a bit okay you know my pet peeve with golf what when i'm playing with people and and this may be a controversial take my pet peeve is not finishing putts just saying like i assume i'll make it it drives me crazy like you play the hole the hole ends when the ball goes in the cup i don't like picking up i don't understand picking up like why play 95 of the hole and then pretend like the last part of the hole is easy like i don't understand how we have this culture that's accepted picking up and gimme's i don't play gimme's okay that's fair it's good to know i'm happy you're telling us yeah no gimme's i'm down for them but not you because like i'm good with them because i'm not that good at golf but i i and i know you don't golf a lot but i agree like the ball does need to go in the hole it needs to go in the hole literally the name of the game like i i i'm zero like i play zero zero gimme's i like in basketball if it like rimmed out you're count it just count it yeah it's two plus two or we'll give one it's a great it's a great comparison like how we've normalized that it's a bizarre one point we're hitting the rim in basketball now yeah it's a bizarre thing that we've normalized in the sport i have a point if you get that especially on a sport that takes itself so seriously golf takes itself very serious my dad taught me that like my dad finishes every single putt well i i do agree though like let's be completely high character above board people when we're playing sports but the same way i also think the hole should be bigger.

52:45How big? I think it should probably be three times the size. What? I think that putting is too hard. You had us all, I think, with like finish. Like I was like, yes, you need to finish every hole and the ball doesn't even go. But people don't finish their putts because they miss them so often. Three times the size though, like I could do that. I'm down for like 50 % of an extension. Like cup and a half. Pete, do you finish your putts? I've definitely taken some gimme's. Pete takes some gimme's, she says. Most people take gimmies. Brandon feels the same way as you. And Brandon, P's boyfriend, agrees that we need to put the ball in the hole.

53:17I think most golfers play with gimmies. But I'm fine with that. I don't mind. And then you're sitting and it's like, I scored an 88. I scored a 91. It's like, well, you only putted on eight holes, dude. Like, I watched you. Bit of a great score. So I don't want to hear about your score. Yeah, I agree. But hold on. If I put, if I didn't. And I want to clarify. My close golfing group, okay, they play the right way. Nick G plays the right way. And Chad. Chad plays the right way. Good. Good. And if there are pickups, it's because we're not scoring that day. Okay. And I love golf with no scoring. Sorry, I'm going big on the golf here.

53:55I want to go right back really quickly to this hole-in-one thing. Okay. If I did that, how would you feel? I think I'd be truly confused. It's grounds to go through your partner's phone. That's what it is. You need to know what other lies are being told. because you don't just like... Grounds and lies. That was very funny, right? Because aren't those two golf terms? That was unintentional. But you don't just... That's my big point is like you don't commit a cheat like this and not have a lot of other cheats going on. That's what I'm saying. Like they're also like ordering a water cup of putting Dr.

54:26Pepper in it. Like I know they are. It's grounds. It's grounds. They're getting the free water cup and they're putting Dr. Pepper in it and I know it. Like I just am like, no. Chills loves that. I was at Chipotle the other day and there was like these two teen guys in front of me and the person as they were checking out, they're like can we have a water cup and she goes don't you dare put any soda in that cup good for her like you gotta pay for things they're also at self-checkout and they're like skipping every other item like i just am like well hold on like this isn't this isn't the member guest where you skipped a stroke and like kind of like did a wink on one this is like you you faked a hole in one down to like a phone call you need if you did that i would i would say like we need to go through your phone it's giving armed robbery kind of like there's there's got to be other things and if if the rest if your phone if like there isn't a whole bunch of other um uh deceptive things going on then i i don't like there just would be no no if there's not other deceptive things going there has to be no but it could also be like it's also like okay then there's an unhealed childhood trauma like did you not get a hole in one at one point but most people like my dad got his first hole in one i think it was two years ago but i'm so he played golf for 40 years, 50 years.

55:36Is this guy not doing well in his career and he needs other accolades? What's the problem? I think there's a deeper issue that he was like, I'm going to get the hole in one. Finish your putts. That's the point. I agree. Finish your putts. Or make the hole bigger. Finish your putts. Okay. So on for... Well, I do think... Sorry, I'm burping. Off of that, there was something that I wanted to talk about. Come on. Not bluey for adults. There was something else with, okay, well, we're going to go to minivans are back. Not that they were ever gone, but this is like a pretty crazy statistic, okay? Great stat from our friends at Edmunds.

56:20This is actually a great stat, and this is not an ad, but this is just a great stat. Last year, minivan sales rose 21 % in the US. Meanwhile, overall, auto sales were only up 2%. and guess what I think it is I think millennials are hitting like the oldest millennials now are in their 40s they have multiple kids and what what happened a while ago was like people were like Ferraris are cool now I think convenience and minivans like they're cool they're back have I talked about is on have I talked about minivans in in uh Asia yes you you you're who taught us this they're sleek they're cool like having a minivan in Hong Kong is a flex yeah Like they're the cool car to have and they notch up the designs.

57:01Like both exterior and interior. But I looked up which, so the designs are a big part of this because I looked up now which models are we buying? And the Kia Carnival had a massive 74 % uptick versus 2024. Let me see. It's a cool looking car. Let me see. Honda Odyssey 10 % and then the Toyota Sienna which is 35%. I gotta see these. The Kia's cool. The Kia's the coolest one. Okay. That looks like an SUV. Let's see. Exactly. Let's see, let's see, let's see. But Kia in general. I don't know if you can see this far. Oh, if I had a co-host that would maybe use her phone. And do you know the other make that Kia nailed?

57:39Toyota? No, Kia nailed the Telluride. Oh, yeah, my friend's family has a Telluride. I love the Kia Telluride. See, it's actually the most Googled one. Kia Carnival. I also think the Kia Carnival is a really good name because it is it's a party in there were people stealing Kias like all around stealing? I don't know if it was I think it was everywhere but there was like this it was a TikTok hold on we cut Jules off is it what? there was a TikTok thing I don't know if you know called like the Kia Challenge because apparently there was some like manufacturing flaw that made Kias really easy to steal and this was like rampant over cleveland and you had to like buy this like extra lock thing to override the thing that kia was doing poorly and it was just a trend to steal kias for like for quite some time so they were just getting stolen yes and it was in like 2020 2021 covid times were the tiktoks about people stealing them or about them protecting it obviously i think it was about people stealing it I can't remember.

58:48I'm very confused. This looks like an SUV. That's what they're, that's why, that is literally why it was up 74 % in sales. People love the Kia Carnival. Is it a sliding door? Well, I don't know because you have my phone. You tell us. I would assume so. I don't know what the point of getting a minivan was if you didn't have the sliding door. Yeah, it's a sliding door. And if somebody that's paranoid about door dings, a sliding door is chef's kiss. okay so so what's so listen i'll say this i'll say this i'm officially at the point where like i don't well i would rather get like a suburban okay but i understand how if i had one more kid i'd be like i'm done i'm getting the minivan like i'm done it's a convenience play and convenience is trumps all i am still waiting i think the i the auto idea of the century is the six-door car i know like i'm with you why we don't have it yet does not make sense to me this is my plea to all automakers please create the six-door vehicle that's what we need and make it cool like take an escalade and add a third and we have a third row in the escalator ready let's add a last row of doors and then if that would even be better than a minivan because you could just get in and out of that side.

1:00:12You could do bucket seats all the way down the middle. I mean, we definitely have room for auto improvements. Customer one, right here. I agree. Pre-order. I don't understand. I'll pre-order it now. And who do you think would do it? Who's your car innovator? Is it Tesla? Is it Kia? I think Tesla. So is this car electric? I think it's going to come from Tesla. Well, I guess that the Cybertruck is apparently pretty spacious. I remember one of my friends put a down payment. It was very low on a Cybertruck in 2020. You went on a wait list. I think you paid like$99. I think you're right. I remember that.

1:00:51I remember when that was a thing. Cybertrucks are big in Austin. I think this is probably the city with the most Cybertrucks. Actually, Jules, can we see what city has the most Cybertrucks? I would be willing to bet it was Austin. And I think number two, I'll give LA. Roughly. it's got to be Austin. California, Texas. California one, Texas two. All right. When you dress for population size, that makes a lot of sense. You give your toddler a Sharpie. You ask them to color on paper. They're Sharpie on the wall, obviously. You open Instagram for five minutes before bed. It's 2 a.m., obviously. There's a reason you wouldn't trust a toddler with a Sharpie, and there's a reason you wouldn't trust social media to help you wind down.

1:02:25Okay, let's discuss. We need to do a little pop culture moment. Acquired style. She posted. And let me tell you. Yep, a clap for that. You guys are so funny. Stunning. You all did the exact same smile and clap. She was beautiful. That's a nod of approval from the ladies. The ladies. She looked so good. And you know what I love? The dress was a Vera Wang off the rack dress. Okay, so that means like you would expect from her a custom. No, it wasn't. It was custom. But another girl posted that she passed on it. No, but okay. she tried on that same off the rack dress but they built out the custom like version for her okay so it's an it's a cousin of a dress yes that exists i am so i like that even more you just hit on something that i'm so not down with a girl commented that she passed okay no no no no no no that is such poor form no no i'm so sorry a girl posted before acquired posted anything saying oh an example like it's a trend like a wedding dress i didn't say yes to okay and it It was the dress.

1:03:31Okay. She didn't take a shot at her. Well, it's up for debate. Jules, I'm realizing this in real time. The dress had already leaked and she posted it on Sunday. Yes. However, she just put up a story. This girl, her name is Brielle Bierman. She's like a socialite, I think, for lack of a better word. But she posted a story that she took the video or made the video on Friday before the dress was leaked. And she put up the timestamp. however right next to the time stamp is the place where you can adjust the time stamp with no record of adjusting the time stamp so she's now dealing with people saying did you do this because of acquired oh yeah everyone's like this is the number one mean girl thing that you could possibly ever do and she's saying it was just like kind of ironic that she posted it the same weekend i hope that she just like that uh our girl acquired as as her name comments like poor taste you should have said yes yeah i think danielle her sister was like liking comments or something like that on tiktok yeah but like get in there get in there acquired commented on mine i saw i love you i said you're our queen she is she's so cute she's just adorable like she's just adorable acquired she was so happy like you know what i don't even want to give time to the other one yeah i'm sorry that i mentioned it um because it doesn't matter and i don't want to take away from the beautiful dress that acquired war.

1:04:56It was stunning. It was perfect for her. It was just as extravagant as I wanted, but still tasteful. As the ladies would say. It was tasteful. And do you know what else I liked? She clearly said, please don't post before I post to her friends. And she just wanted to be present and she posted on Monday. And it was very appropriate. So did they lock up phones or no? No. Can we talk about this? Yes, Jules. So Klee, she's one of her best friends. she clearly sent some pics maybe to like her mom i don't know who she sent them to those were the pictures that got leaked there's one other picture not from clee that got leaked but it was a friend of the program that accidentally leaked the the main pics how do we know that um there's like some dms that are being put up on tiktok like it's it's a whole thing okay but clee said clee dm there's a screenshot of clee's dm to the girl that said how did you get these pictures these are my pictures like what the heck and and how did she get them we don't know a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend like it just went like that did she send them to her mom or did she send them to a group chat she didn't say so she must have sent them because there's no way she would have sent them to the mom and then the mom would like them.

1:06:12She must've sent it to a group chat. I think she sent them somewhere. And then yeah, they got, they got posted. So what I hope acquired's mentality is around this. And from what I understand about her, it probably is this. She commented on her Instagram and was like, you look so pretty despite you leaking my photos. Atta girl. Okay, great. So she's funny with that. So she's, that's what, this is what I like. And I also hope acquired knows how cool she has to be to have her wedding photos leaked. Yeah. Like that is, people cared and somebody leaked it. Like that's, you know, good for her. But here's what I will say, okay?

1:06:50I have been on a couple trips where it's been requested to not take photos. Okay. Okay. And I have not taken photos on those trips. As you should not. And I do think that if I took a photo on any of those trips and sent them to like a group chat, I think the trust is broken. Hold on. The trust is broken. What that you sent it to a group chat? I think that even though this girl's intention wasn't to lose it, it wasn't for them to leak. I think that that. She broke a mess like she she did violate the trust. Like if the request was made, you got to respect the, you got to respect the request. And, and while she didn't link them, her sending them, it, it is a major violation.

1:07:44And I say this, like, as, as I have, I've been in this situation, you are not allowed to do it. Well, we were in it together where they taped phones and we went to this party and they taped phones and it was a high profile party. And when we walked in, they were like, we're going to tape your phone. and we were like perfect once we got in everyone had untaped their phones and was very much so taking photos but we harris and i looked at each other we're just like we're not like that's just not we don't why we don't need the photo we don't need to post anything about it like just no if it's a no it's not going to be us that leaks it yeah yeah i think you got to abide by the request so i am not even though the friend didn't directly leak them her sending them is leaking them and And it is it's a massive violation of trust.

1:08:29Everyone everyone had their phones out, like I would say at this wedding, because now that Bridget has put out her pictures, everyone's putting out more pictures. I think it was a timing issue. But that's my point is it's a timing issue. I'm not saying like it's it is the timing you got. OK, you have to respect your friend's request. Yes. If your friend makes it, you have to respect it. And she clearly said, like, I'm going to post Monday. like if you're let's say my mom was like i'm dying to see the dress i'll just i'll send it to you monday or give give a little face time with a little screen share no screenshots no sorry no it's it's literally no it's like this is not yours like this is literally like this is someone else who is hosting it is their request like it's so simple like what they're asking is so simple be in the moment and do not send the photos to anyone I'm I think this is a very easy thing to respect I think it's a very poor form for the friend not to

1:09:40okay

1:09:44so the guy that scored the did not score the hole in one is he the kind of guy at a wedding that would take a photo What's just a worst offense? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, they're not comparable. Yeah, I'm kidding. The whole in one is far worse. No, I think this is like actually the friend. Like, I think that her acquired view on her, no matter what she says or what she comments, like it's different. It's changed. She broke it. Like she broke the trust. Like you were, there was a firm request by a friend. and you did not respect it. It's funny. Nobody would have known the photos came from her except for she did the DM and then the person screenshot of the DMs and posted those again.

1:10:28Like, guys, let's go. Let's figure it out. Yeah. Let's just, I mean, what's going on here? That is, but you know what? If anything, like this is internet tea and this is how it works. Right. And so it's just, but a quiet, the wedding was beautiful. She was beautiful. It was just a 10 out of 10. How funny is it that like, I haven't seen a photo of any of this. it was really like don't know what the dress looks like don't know what Acquired looks like I hope I'm in a coffee shop one day with Acquired and we're just beside each other in line and neither of us know what each other looks like and we just get our coffee well she would know what you look like and then someone takes someone takes a photo of us standing in line if there's two girls that look the same then they'll know you're near the Acquired's you can say hey girls are you the Acquired's hi Acquies hi and Danielle looked beautiful should we call the followers Acquies or what are we acquired's acquired's they're literally those are they foo-foo's those vps those girls are they're just they're so dang cute so anyways i'm i'm like sort of sad the dress leaked like it was also really fun and everyone's just so happy for and whether or not that girl posted her dress um before or after i hope that you know what whatever acquired like she she's so cool it doesn't matter i i think does that make sense yeah Like she's just, she's above it all.

1:11:52She's above it. She doesn't have to, she doesn't have to mess with that. She goes high. Okay. Um, I would like to discuss, okay, this, this is interesting. We're going to do Bluey. So blue, how do I want to word this? I'm trying to think about how I want to explain this to you. I can, I can do it. Okay. Okay. It, it came out. So it was released that 50 % of Bluey's watchers are between the ages of 18 to 35. And that's not - Without kids. Without kids. So that's people watching - Yeah, sorry, you said it, without kids. And to the point, Bluey actually caters specifically to this audience with other things like merch.

1:12:34Which is crazy. Like this is the latest kid-dult trend because there is this new thing right now where like adults are loving to do things that were made for kids. with or in our minds like with nostalgia in mind yes but what's interesting about this is it is so a person like an adult going to see toy story toy story 5 is nostalgia is us being like that was part of my childhood i want to see the movie adults our age watching bluey is interesting because like we didn't have bluey well my question to you you guys is what like is there anything like this that you do are there any like p loves disneyland so that's hers so do you guys have any childhood things that you've stayed attached to because as i'm thinking about like i don't have oh i have one what i actually have one what nintendo i still love video games yeah and i rarely rarely play them but like i still play the same video games that I did when I was 12 years old and I play the same way in which I play them and obviously like it's a couple times a year but like I love it so I love adult coloring books like I love to color okay I I like I have so much fun coloring my music taste it's the same as it was when I was 12 yeah Jules does have a playlist of that yeah so does everyone have What do we want to call it?

1:14:05Does everyone have an adult kid thing? A childhood nostalgia hobby. So there's also something I read about. This is a great thing for the listener to comment on, on what their childhood nostalgia activity is. They have 18 plus Legos. And so there is like a lot of adults love to build Legos and they're very extravagant Lego builds. Yeah. And I was reading about this too. There's adult summer camps where you literally pay to stay in cabins with other adults and you do summer activities, which is like not for me, but like. The one thing my summer camp never did growing up, which I was like begging for them to do, was like when we were in our 20s, now that ship's probably sailed, was to like have us all back in our early 20s.

1:14:49Oh my gosh. Harrison, groundbreaking. A summer camp reunion. Yeah. I would go to a 20-year summer camp reunion. Like I still remember some of the girls I went there with. I want to DM my camp to do this. Okay, so you'll text Chad and DM your camp. And we can... Can you imagine? Look, I want you to see my camp. I'd love to see your camp. And you bring your spouse and you bring your kids and then it kind of starts the alumni program because your kids come and they see it. It's a very, very interesting question. And you meet everybody else's kids. Do you bring the kids or not? Because if you bring the kids, it's a very different experience.

1:15:30Like, because the kids will be the focal point of the activity versus if you don't bring the kids, like the adults can be water skiing and on the water trampoline. Harrison, did you have a blob? Do you know what a blob is? We didn't have a blob. Do you know what it is? Yeah. We had a water tramp and a water log. You didn't have a blob blobbing three, two, one, and we would jump off. I forgotten about blobbing until this moment. How many years do you go to your summer camp? I think seven. How many did you go to yours? yeah i think it was 10-ish like it was from almost the moment you could to the end have you ever been on a blob no unbelievable maybe we could do a mini blob in the pool i don't think it'd be safe but like these blobs like do you know on a blob you know what it is though you jump off and the other person flies i'm trying to figure out how to get a slide in the pool blobbing okay so adult summer camp yes but i do think it it did you use the scrape plates so at mine you'd sit with your cabin to eat and coffee cake day was the best day and then whenever you were done everyone would do we should do this at our dinner table at home okay so the way that the the plate scraper was identified is there was the counselor and the counselor would start something so she'd put her finger on her nose yes and then everybody would put their finger on their nose the last person had to be the plate scraper yeah oh my god we did that too nose goes or but also if they put their thumb down i think we did this no but it was always something different so it might be like this oh yeah no i think we did something different too or i could be like you do that one day and everyone does it and then the last person has to scrape the plates yeah but we could do that at home with dishes okay this is a massive childhood gap for me and i'm i still am mad at myself that i never did it okay so we would have like you know how our version of color wars and there was a competition called the paddle hold and you would need to hold uh a canoe paddle for as long as you could with your arms straight that sounds hard and i it was the most like everyone would be standing there cheering it was like the most epic event and i never did the paddle hold and i'm so like i i would love to do the paddle hold what well honey we can get you an adult paddle hold but why didn't they why didn't you do it you were afraid you wouldn't win so So I felt like every year it would, you know, they'd be figuring out what guys to do it.

1:17:55And it would always come down to like two or three guys. And yeah, I'd always just kind of back out. Oh, no, this person should do it. Oh, that's nice of you. You should feel good about that, that you let other people do it. You'd be stronger. You'd be better. And I wish that at least one year I said, hey, guys, I want to do this. I think I can carry it. You would be great at it. You'd be like, really? We'll do you versus neighbor T in the paddle hold. He'd kill me. He's pretty good at that stuff. I've never worked out with someone as strong as him. Yeah. So that's not a good person to go against in the paddle hold.

1:18:24Okay. Wow. I feel so nostalgic, but so happy thinking about the scraping of the plates and the blob. And then let me get one more. What was another summer camp thing that you loved? Like, I would love to go back and do this as a kid or as an adult. Sorry. I was looking at my watch. I never went to summer camp, but we did it like through school, overnight camp. and they would take us out in the woods and give us winter green Lifesaver mints. Okay. And you bite them and it lights up in your mouth. Stop it. That's so fun. Did you guys ever do that? And then you would be like talking and you'd be like have it in there.

1:18:59And it just, it like lights up like a little camera flash in your mouth. Okay. I like that. You could do it with Tate one day in the dark. And they're the winter green ones? I believe it's the winter green Lifesaver mints. I'll also just say that can't possibly be something that's supposed to go in our stomachs. Like we can't possibly have to chew that up and then like continue to eat that because it lights up. But I'm down to do it. They spark in the dark because of a physical and chemical process called, oh God, tribo-luminescence paired with fluorescence. Wow. It's a lot, but yeah, it works.

1:19:31That could be my new part. Like we should just carry those in our purse for at nighttime. It would be fun during fireworks. It would be excellent during drone shows. Yeah, during drone shows. So real quick, 2007 I think was the last year I went to camp. 12th grade no 2006 when the last year i went to camp so the 20 year anniversary would have been 2026 you went to camp at um in 12th grade you're a sit your staff and training ah got it okay because we definitely stopped going probably sixth grade maybe fifth sixth no seventh grade and then your staff after your first year of college because you started to play sports in the summer or i did yeah so so the like the fine line happens on if you want to play ultra competitive sports then you stop going to camp so you kind of make that decision one way or another and canada's athletics like we're we just don't take things as seriously as um as you do in the states like our only sport that we're good at and not as good at as america is hockey we definitely The fact that's our sport and we lost is, oh, come on.

1:20:41I know. I'm sad about that for you guys. You got to win that. It's the one. I think that, yeah, I think we just took sports so seriously. So we had to taper off and start training in the summer. Yeah. It'll be really interesting to see how we navigate that balance of athletics versus experiences when our kids get that age. One more. Yeah, it will be. One more thing that I want to do before we just taper off here is talk about this concept of this. Okay. So there's this growing trend and it's platonically raising kids together. And a lot of millennials are doing this. So it's basically raising kids with a friend.

1:21:19And there's three different ways that you can do it. Okay. Nicknamed a mom, you example. NPR's Aisha Rasco bought a house with her college best friends and they're raising all five of their kids together and they're splitting the nanny. And so it's two single moms. Yep. With their kids under one roof. So that's the mom mute. Number two is a modern family, which is a modamily. And it's like when you're, you know, 16 years old and you look at your best friend, like if I'm not married and at, at 30 and you're not married at three, like let's get married. It's actually doing that. Yes. And then, okay.

1:21:53So then they have a family together. Yeah. And what? Platonically. Platonically. They're not in love, but they're just kind of roommates. Yes. Living together. and then yeah they have kids together so the big question here is what happens if one of them falls in love yeah I think that like I love I love the idea of looking at your situation and making the best of it yes and so that's what I think is really cool about this movement but I think like anything navigating the realities of life is going to be what ultimately determines if you can make this successful or not like how do you manage that And having a game plan in place is going to be really important because like it's probably going to happen.

1:22:36Or if you do the mom or dad union where you move into a house with your best friend and their kids, like, all right, what happens from a dating perspective when you want to move out? Because, you know, your kids and your friend's kids are going to develop a brother sister type relationship. And so, you know, when you then take them apart, like what's the game plan for that? And how do you, how do you, you know, deal with the education? And these are the questions that I don't have the answer to, but I love the trend because it's people, you know, looking at their current situations and making the best of that, which is how I, I, it's just a life mindset I love, whether that's professionally or, or family or anything in between.

1:23:24but you then got to figure out the details. I don't love calling it a trend because - Did I call it a trend? No. We need to call it a movement. Movement. So I take that back. I meant to call it - What I was looking into, because I was like, this can't possibly, it's a trend or whatever, or a movement, but this isn't anything new. So what I was looking into is like, I mean, they're doing this all over in all different countries, but I guess back in the day, even in the US, this is kind of how things were done and that this like isolated nuclear family of four in a white picket house type of vibe is only like a hundred years old in the U.S.

1:24:01And prior to prior to that, like we were living way more communally with aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents closer together and stuff like that. So it's just it's kind of like a pendulum probably is swinging back to be more like how things used to be. And where it makes so much sense to me is what I've experienced over the past two years is how much of raising kids is about partnership. And while it's amazing that we love each other and I love you, love isn't enough. right there's so much you know planning and thought and conversation that needs to go into you day to day and how you're navigating all of the um the peaks and and troughs of a parenthood that like i i get that we're i get that this has gone on for so many years and is now potentially gaining more, um, more popularity because partnership is, it's such a big part of, of parenting.

1:25:08Yeah. But I do think it's interesting part while partnership is such a big part of parenting, like almost think about a business partner, right? Like also two people that make really good business partners probably could raise a family very well together. Totally. But I do think one sweet component of it is like, you know, the love aspect of it does make it fun to raise a family that way. But if somebody is 30 and they're like, okay, I'm going to call up the person. We're both single at 30. We're going to have the family together. Do you have them hold out for love till they're 35? Or do you say, go do it now?

1:25:43But I think here's like, obviously there's an optimal situation. The optimal situation is you fall madly in love with your partner um but maybe the optimal situation you have you have um you know you're you're madly in love you raise your family and you're great partners in navigating the day-to-day if that or that's a great situation for many if that isn't how it plays out with you do you think that you'll have a happier life raising kids with someone you're great part you where you have a great partnership but there isn't a lot of love or vice versa where there's a lot of love but you're not great partners oh it's it's will we ever know the answer to that i don't know well i don't i don't know how you would do it if you don't have the partnership part of it nailed down i think okay um because there's just so many decisions that need to be made so you're saying you're putting partnership above love i'm saying that like in terms of importance i'm trying to work this out i see what you're saying in terms of success yeah i think in terms of like raising a cohesive family unit yeah i think it i think it's hard to get there without both but i think it's probably easier to get there without um with with love trailing i but once again i haven't thought but that's a really really good question that i actually think a lot of the listeners have probably thought about because i think that that when you have a family like that is a dynamic that comes into play like i think where we have gotten most lucky i think that we always knew the love was there well it was day one like we we had we had that firework type love at first sight thing and since day one the love has not faded what we didn't know given how fast we moved i guess one is would that love fade which obviously it hasn't but on the second part is like how good a partner is where we'd be at navigating life and all of its challenges.

1:27:43And that's what I'm so happy with how that side of it has shaken out. But I think that you don't, and that's one thing that I'm not, like having kids really puts that into focus for you because there's so much you have to navigate with logistics, with emotions, with finances, right? And there's so much you have to juggle and figure out. So yeah, it does come into focus really quickly when you do that. So yeah, that's interesting. I would love to know what people think about that um yeah okay well that's kind of an abrupt spot to end it but I also am just like I'm still thinking about that I like that question um we love you guys thank you for listening happy Wednesday and we will talk to you on Friday it'll be a Q &A and we don't welcome you to the pod but we love you thank you for listening thanks for listening to another episode of Two Parents if you enjoyed the show don't forget to subscribe like comment rate and review.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Wednesday!! This episode is the definition of everything but the kitchen sink.. also yes, we welcomed you to the pod TWICE because we forgot welcome on this upcoming Friday’s episode, SORRY hahaha.

We're kicking things off with the Tweet of the Week: you're allowed to be proud of yourself, PRESENT tense. Harrison shares why it struck a chord (he's been guilty of never exhaling on the fitness front), and then Alex asks the question she immediately regrets: "do you think I'm funny?" (this is jules - I answered YES!!).

Then a Vancouver trip preview!! Whistler, boating, the Grouse Grind at 6 AM, and one decision (that feels really big 3 months postpartum): should we go see AC/DC?! PLEASE vote in the comments. Plus Harrison's CFL rant: three downs, a BIGGER field, and the biggest missed opportunity in sports?!

Then the internet stuff: the $20K dorm room REVEALS broke our brains (they're not even decorating them THEMSELVES?!), Acquired Style cont: the dress, the drama & the leaked photos (we stand with our queen), minivan sales are UP 21%.. dad mode is officially cool, and the story of the week: a man FAKED a hole in one.. drove out.. and PLANTED the ball. Alex's official ruling: "it's giving armed robbery" hahaha.

Then the meat & bones: adults (without kids!) are hooked on Bluey, Harrison's latest idea: adult summer camp reunions, and the big one: platonically raising kids with your best friend. Mom communes, modern families, and the question we kept thinking about even after we stopped recording: what matters more for raising a family, partnership or love?

Hope everyone is having a great week :-)

LOVE YOU GUYS!
