In short

The episode covers three main areas: (1) parents’ debate about “dressing your age” vs staying true to personal style, including a real shopping experience in Austin; (2) “toilet learning” for a toddler—kid-led, low-pressure bathroom learning with specific terminology and routines; (3) current AI fears and regulation, plus lighter tech and lifestyle updates (Apple foldable iPhone, T-Mobile adding a second phone line, and a car/phone/music/caddy update).

Guests/backgrounds

The episode is hosted by “Two Parents in a Podcast” (Alex, Harrison, Jules, and Kirsten are referenced). No external guests appear; the “guests” are the co-hosts themselves.

Key claims

Toilet learning is child-directed and independence-building, unlike adult-directed potty training/schedule-driven outcomes. The hosts argue against age-based fashion rules (“don’t throw in the towel”). On AI, they discuss misuse vs runaway behavior and conclude regulation is needed, but they emphasize trusting the process and a positive outlook.

Notable examples

A toddler dumps a detachable potty insert into the big toilet; an accident leads to a “pee pee” learning moment and touching the liquid. The hosts plan “Tate’s two-step” birthday party with a “Pink Pony Club” theme and a pony service that delivers cocktails. For AI, they reference a former OpenAI/Anthropic employee’s viral resignation tweet about AI potentially killing us within 10 years.

1:07We're just going to start with the welcome. Feels weird. All right. Welcome back to another episode of Two Parents in a Podcast. We cannot. We can talk about something different that was on my mind this morning. Okay. That maybe the team and the listener can chime in on. So the dynamic that I'm dealing with right now is i'm wearing workout stuff every episode yep because after the episodes i'm working out yep fit fam rise up should i not just be bringing wearing like a nice outfit to record and then once recording is done changing into the workout outfit i got an idea i got an idea here for a guy that likes convenience just up your workout game a little merge the two go a little more swag it's impossible no it's not no that it with that mentality anything's impossible no because my style is going more collared shirt oriented i'm i'm getting back into the style i fell in love with on the first date okay this person right here beside me i you were wearing like some kind of like low sitting dark jeans with the common project shoes you had on a wife beater with like a rob's popcorn old school jacket over and then a bomber over like you couldn't have looked in my opinion cooler and then here we go we're going to transition to the collared shirts a couple things i was wearing a collared shirt that night you can okay a collared shirt that like was monogrammed like a Rob's popcorn like it's a greaser bowling shirt with a collar.

2:55My hands are so jackets used to be fundamental to my key part of my fashion. Jackets as in blazers? No like different types of coats. Like a bomber. What I wore that night was a coat. It was a bomber jacket. My style options living in Austin when it's so hot when you gotta be in short sleeve shirts most of the time you're just very limited. No that Harrison what you you are boxing yourself in that does not mean you must wear a collared shirt graphic tees you're cool not that collared shirts are not cool collared shirts are very cool they are different than what Harrison used to wear to bring it all together I I go through like different phases and I'm I'm in a uh inspired by fashion phase right now and I I wanted I got this really cool us open shirt i wanted to wear today and i maybe i'll just bring my outfits for the week on monday and then i can record in outfits and then once we're done recording put on my gym clothes no i think people really like to express themselves their workout clothes and i think you could do more of that no i love my workout clothes okay well i don't know what to tell you what do we think jules i think everyone should wear what they're most comfortable in this is a come as you are podcast so if you're comfortable in collar shirts come in your collar shirt yeah pc answer from jules that's not a pc answer i'm a big fan of come as you are in life yeah that's not pc at all that's true to probably the opposite of pc i agree okay jules is not saying dress for the occasion she's saying dress for your heart however i was just talking about my my last workplace the the dress code was come as you are in a corporate setting that was the definition yes people would wear leggings people would wear pajama pants sometimes oh i couldn't get on board with that here i am wearing pajama pants right now there's a there's a deeper subject here okay there's a deeper subject that we just scratched the surface on workplace dress code no at what point should a man transition from dressing trendy to dressing old because i think that that's the the i think i kind of was like letting myself like almost trying to pass a fast one there i used to dress very trendy and it feels like is this now the time did i tighten it up no No.

5:34Why are you? I'm a dad of two. Yeah, but you should just be true to yourself. If you want to wear the collared shirts, you should wear the collared shirts. But you shouldn't feel pressure to wear the collared shirts because you're a dad of two of a certain age. Yeah, I completely agree with this. Like, what is going on? That is like saying because of a certain age, you're okay. We've actually scratched the surface on an even deeper issue now. Just because you're a certain age does not mean you need to throw in the towel and start doing certain things. I'm more so talking to the concept of dressing your age when's Alex gonna get a mom haircut yeah when you want to throw my bob in here what do you want me to do that should I just do it because I'm a mom of two now like should I just go get my minivan like are you serious or I would love if we got a minivan me too that's a bad example because those are sweet but you know you don't have to do these things because we're a certain age you have a certain number of kids But I don't dress like I'm still in high school No one's Like what are these extremes you're doing I felt like I was dressing a little young Harrison's gonna come up to the next recording In a full suit Truly and then like make that his But that's what I should be doing On the Tropic Jewels in New York I went to get a couple sport coats Didn't get them You know why I didn't get them We live in Austin Yeah cause you don't wear them that often No cause I walked in there And this guy he wanted nothing to do with me my friends and i have been talking about this that's the new vibe in stores and it's like i'm here to spend money why are you not i was base rate buying two sport coats would have maybe bought three and the first dude like totally brushed me up now the second gentleman came in and tried tried to like save the day but i was just out of the buying mindset at that point you know what i think it was harrison was in a very similar outfit to what he's wearing now no i don't think the guy took him seriously no i was wearing my uh all blue collared shirt i was wearing a very good outfit i thought about the outfit i was gonna wear i dressed for the occasion and they still wrote you off yeah yeah this guy he didn't want anything to do with harrison he he basically was saying don't buy a jacket yeah no that's like the vibe of people in stores these days.

7:54I think there's a fine line. If I go into a store and you won't stop talking to me, I will leave. Like if you keep saying like, well, what can I get for you? Or try this with that. It's like, no, I got it. I'll ask you if I would like some help. But to take it to the other extreme of just being rude, I'm like, just strike the middle. Let me know if you need help. And I would love to let you know if I need help. Yeah. I think there could be a middle ground there. Kirsten, I'm very upset with you. There were a couple unbelievable things that happened with this guy. so um i asked a question what what was the first question i asked that he just completely dunked on do you have any ready to wear something like that no i i asked if if i asked if he had anything in burnt orange oh yeah and he's like no that's gonna be hard that's gonna be hard to find in ready to wear we'd have to make that custom and i was just like oh like what is what does making custom mean and he was like we make it custom i was like well i just what but then the craziest part of all the other guy who comes in it's like he's kind of talking me through things like oh by the way everything is 50 off the whole so the first guy didn't even tell us that like the whole freaking suit area was 50 off um he had a bad attitude and he lost the sale yeah and Harrison doesn't have any sport coats now.

9:17And we lost too. Everyone lost. Here's what I'll say. It was a big L day. Chad has found another place in Austin. Chad doesn't also know that this all happened. That was Hannah's husband. We're going to tell him tomorrow. He sent me to this store. You're going to see him today. He also is a better dresser than me. He's a great dresser. Sorry, we're seeing him today. I think Chad would be upset if I told him, you know, you were going to age out of being cool. You've decided to, what is it? What do you surrender with? Wave the white flag? Yeah. But Chad dresses older. Do you want me to get you a white flag?

9:45But Chad dresses true to himself. That's the point. But my new self. Because you're a dad of two? Because I'm maturing. Okay. But no, does anybody not know, like, can you think of a dad that you used to know when you were in high school that always dressed cool? I've historically always been the most casual person at every occasion I go to. You can be casual, but you can be cool and casual. Okay. and i just is is the time ending for that no i also i like i want you to keep all right you put no i your your opinion is what matters most here what i will say is it feels like we are running long on this subject and i don't want people to get bored all right let's move on all right welcome back to another episode of two parents in a podcast um all right guys happy friday i do want to make a note because today is 9-11 and we are 25 it's been 25 years since the 9-11 attacks happened.

10:44And I know me, like I opened up my Instagram feed today and I'm just hit with like, oh, influx of emotions. I always hear the phone call and it's just, it's a very heavy day. And I feel like it's very important that we one, acknowledge it. Number two, we don't forget it. So a sad note to start on, but. Absolutely. What do you mean you hear the phone call? There was the phone call. It's the woman and she calls her husband and she's like, I'm on the plane. We're having some plane trouble. she says, I'm comfortable right now, but tell my family I love them and I love you very much. But she just keeps saying, we are having some plane trouble.

11:20Oh, it's heart-wrenching. It's gut-wrenching. No, obviously an incredibly tragic day that affected the world in such a big way. And yes, we must never forget. Do you remember where you were? I do. I do I remember I was in um fifth grade or maybe fourth grade but I was in line we had to line up and sit down and get called to go on you know I don't know was it a Friday I don't know I can look yeah I think it was a Friday I was gonna say because on Fridays we did this line so that would be that's interesting I wonder why I remember that

12:07hold on I just want to see if it was a Friday because we had we would line up with our backpacks and you'd have to sit down until your line was called.

12:17It was a Tuesday. A Tuesday? Oh. Hmm. I wonder why I was in this line. I was, but yeah, I do remember where I was. I remember right where I was in the gym at Charles Haskell. Where were you? So I was in Vancouver, and we're in West Coast time. So we were waking up to it. Oh, wow, yeah. And I vividly remember my parents were out of town. My Aunt Karen was staying with us. And I was sleeping at the foot of my parents' bed. So I slept on the floor and my aunt was in the bed. And at that time, our alarm clock was the radio. Oh, wow. And so we woke up with the radio. And I remember it was like the first thing we heard.

13:12I'm sure. And then we turned on the TV. And then I didn't go to school for the first half of the day. And then she took me after lunch. I think a lot of people, like I left school. Yeah, I got picked up from school. I was in kindergarten, so I don't really remember. I just think it was so scary because people didn't know what was going to happen throughout the day. And so a lot of people did go home. It's chilling to think about. And it's just horrific. So anyways, it's going to be tough to follow that and transition here, but we did not want to start the episode without acknowledging it. Absolutely.

13:44You guys know I love to make sure I'm getting my protein in, but something that is often overlooked is getting your minerals in. Do you ever wonder why you feel sluggish even when you're eating right? The truth is you're likely missing the foundation element of wellness, which is minerals. B Minerals is a line of plant-based liquid minerals and electrolytes designed to help replenish all the minerals in your body that you need every day. Most of us are mineral deficient, but Beam Minerals makes daily replenishment incredibly easy. Every morning, I take just a half capful of electrolyze and micro boost.

14:18The entire process takes less than one minute, which I love. There's no refrigeration needed. They can be taken on an empty stomach and they won't break a fast. Plus, they have a clean, neutral taste, just like regular mineral water with no added flavors, sweetness, or a salty taste. The advanced set pairs electrolyze and micro boost with using naturally occurring plant-based humic and fulvic complexes that are super easy for your body to absorb. Since starting, my energy is consistent throughout the day, the brain fog is gone, and I feel truly hydrated. It provides the crucial cellular support to your body that you need to function at its best, supporting a return to overall health and well-being.

Give beaminerals a try and discover why mineral replenishment could be the missing piece in your wellness routine. All right, let's move gently. We'll do a gentle move from that to potty training. The Totski. so the new development that tate has done is now when she does use her mini potty she saw that we pick up her mini potty and we dump it into the big toilet she now we really have an eldest daughter virgo on our hands because she's now taking that job as her own as well she she wants to do the gross part is that clear yeah there's a detachable thing in there that you take out and you dump yeah why are you saying that way no i'm just you got to be super careful because she doesn't understand the angles of things she loves to dump things on the floor yeah so it's like and she doesn't wait for you to come like she'll she does it herself she throws it all off and so you got to be there and quick i'll say this about it too the other day she we had her diaper off and we were up in rocky's room and she had an accident on the floor she peed and she was like pee pee pee pee pee like it was very it was it was such a good learning moment for her so I took her to the toilet and you know she and she goes sorry mama and I'm like no don't be sorry it's no big deal the pee pee just goes here but we went back to the room and I saw her looking at me and she wanted to touch it so I let her touch it because imagine not understand like you don't know is it liquid like imagine understanding your bodily functions for the first time it's really the cutest thing ever yeah yeah it's a whole unique like she taught i was like and this will go this goes in the toilet mama will clean it up we got out of the room but like she's understanding all this for the first time so so can i tell you what the internet says you guys are doing yes that's true that you guys are not potty training you are toilet learning and it's a thing okay toilet do we not clarify last episode that we knew there would there would be your name for this i don't i didn't know that i meant to if i didn't i didn't know the name but i meant to clarify like that we don't think we're reinventing the wheel here like we know this is a process i just had no idea what it's called well i definitely don't think we're reinventing the wheel i just thought we were doing a version of potty training yeah no you're toilet learning so we're toilet learning potty toilet training learning okay well that's part of it sorry i actually forgot to write this down but part of it is like using the proper terms you guys are saying pee pee so you're not but toilet versus potty is like a part of this um oh movement technique oh this to me oh speaks too much pressure toilet learning like no no no you got to use the right words and this this is this to me is everything we're not somebody commented you guys are allergic to structure and it was so funny i mean and i was like we're allergic to spiking your cortisol unnecessarily.

18:12Yeah. Fact. This is going to work out. The kid is going to learn how to use the toilet. Like let's not make this a big major stress point for anyone in the house. Right. Let's make it fun. We've made pot. We have made toilet learning potty training so fun. We, when, when we get a, when we get the bathroom usage, correct party dance party and she's running around. We're high-fiving. If we miss, we're also very happy about it because we get to learn. So anyways, toilet learning, developmental process where a child recognizes their own bodily cues, which is very much what we're doing, and they build independence over time versus potty training, which is an adult-directed.

18:55I think that's the key word. Toilet learning is kind of like you figure it out. Potty training is adult-directed, schedule-driven method focused on achieving a specific outcome, i.e. using the toilet. So what do they want us to call pee? Urine. Oh, get out of here. This is just ridiculous. The internet has to get out of here. They want us to call it urine. We can't call it pee-pee. We have to call it urine. No, there's pee-pees and poo-poos. We're done. What do they want us to call poop? I think poop. I'm sure there's a more formal word for that. Peces, I don't know. Peces and urine. like we should play a prank on the neighbors though with a straight face and be like we did some research we need to call it urine and pieces and just like see the look on their face and just and be like that's that's how we're gonna do it in our household what are you guys thinking we'd really like to get on the same page we really think it's important and we're not gonna call it potty training it needs to be toilet learning yeah it's it diabolical i'm glad there's a name for it i am glad there's a name for it because it does feel like it is a different process like the parent directing it versus the kid directing like we we didn't direct this one i'd like to call it figuring out the bathroom but it stops it it stops there for me it's for me did they comment you need to call it urine no no one commented that that wasn't my research we just need to we're gonna keep going with the flow she's she's doing it more she's loving it She's liking it.

20:23And who knows? If we keep it this pace, we'll be out of diapers faster than I would have thought. If we don't, then we'll be in them for longer. She also knows. Okay, so you guys know how we were on the fence about having her birthday party? Oh, yeah. Then we took her to the venue and showed her, this is where you had your first birthday. Does Tate want to have a birthday again? And I think it is because it was just Maria's birthday and we made her the card. And I did the video. 100%. And I explained to her, it's Maria's birthday. This present is for Maria. Happy birthday, Maria. Tate, I'm like, whose birthday's coming up?

20:56Happy birthday, Tate. She knows it's her birthday. And then you say, how old are you going to be? Two. So I'm so happy we decided to do the birthday party. So post birthday, are you going to strictly call her two for the next year? Yes. No, two, two and a half, three. That's what you're asking? Yeah. Yeah. Two, two and a half, three. That's my take. But to her, she'll just be two. Yeah. I was just wondering. But we are going to celebrate Rocky's six months. Hold on. I think that it could be important if she can grasp the concept of two and a half. Because that way she understands there's an eventual transition to three.

21:36And it's not just going to seem like it's one day. Okay. Then she's halfway. I don't know if kids that age can take that in. Because I don't know who we were talking to, but someone was telling. well maybe it wasn't you guys i think i was maybe elsewhere but someone was telling me that their kid was two i was like there's no way this kid is two and oh i was at a birthday party and um the dad was like well she turns three in like a month you can't be telling me this kid is two but he could have said she was two and a half easy no i i now say when somebody asks me how how old tate is i say almost two that's been my new answer almost two then she'll be almost three Yeah, I like this.

22:18Just turn two, two and a half, about to turn three. Or, yeah, she's a two plus. She's really like a ripe two. Because I agree, Jules. There's such a big difference at two, two and a half, and three. Yeah. So it is. That's a very good point. So with the birthday party, I made a video talking about how we're going to do the Pink Pony Club. because the theme is two-step and Tate's two-step. Two, get it? Tate's two-step. And the reason I had to tell everyone the theme was because somebody commented and had all these likes. And I was like, well, now, hold on. I already have the invite designed. So I was like, okay, it's Tate's two-step.

22:59And I was like, emphasis on the Pink Pony Club. Then everyone starts commenting, the Pink Pony Club is a strip club. Yeah, I had no idea that it's about and I've been listening to Chapel Rowan's Pink Pony Club now knowing that it's changed the song for me. I know. I was like, oh my God, we're at the Pink Pony Club with the pink ponies hopping around. Also, part of why I really didn't understand that is, isn't Chapel Rhone really young? And so the idea of her talk singing about strip clubs, that was a jump I didn't see. She's going to keep on dancing down in West Hollywood at the Pink Pony Club.

23:31Yeah. And I always thought it was just a club of ponies. It's more of, I think, a cultural thing, not like she's talking about a stripper. Pink Pony Club. Mm-hmm. can we can we switch the last word yes to what because pink pony party no no we're having a we're having a two-step you're having a two-step we're having tate's two-step so we're in the clear there okay you should tell the crowd what the what a two-step is a texas thing it is a texas two-step it is a form of country dance and we are gonna have a two-step teacher come teach the two-step are you having the girl from the white horse tavern I don't know do you have a girl yet yeah should I have the white horse have a girl I don't know do you actually have a girl I actually paid this morning and I have a girl okay because you signed my email up or something and I'm just getting all these people reaching out to me I did put your email on the off chance I missed it then I got a DM from a girl what is it I want to get the I want to get the pub pony she's like can I bring my pony to Tate's birthday and I will do her hair pink and I was like can you would you please?

24:38Then I go to her page. It is a bar pony service in Austin. So she does this for weddings. She, this is, this is genius. Like thinking outside the box, she puts like a sort of a saddle type, but it's actually a basket and it delivers cocktails. The pony does. And I know people might think that's misuse of ponies. It's not. These are very, these are very happy ponies that live a very happy life and they do like i love i love the way that i think it's very important how horses are treated i looked at her page and all that these are very well kept very beautiful very happy ponies that do they'd rather be doing this than they would be doing some other things i have no view on this i know you don't i do i i want to make sure horses are always are like i i've stopped riding the central park um oh yeah carriages like that to me no no actually actually an interesting thing too was whenever we went to charleston we did do a carriage ride i thought i don't know why it didn't dawn on me that maybe that wasn't okay and i still need to research more into that you can sound off in the comments if you think that's bad i thought those horses were kept in a really nice place but i do understand horses don't want to be pulling carriages i think horses can pull carriages just not in manhattan on the cement yeah yeah right in the traffic and like like the like i just feel really sorry for those horses anyways i i'm excited for these ponies to come she's gonna paint but like wait you're saying yeah i want to kind of get to i think so can a horse okay i know i'm with you i hear what you're saying can a horse come and be pet like they're just gonna get loved on no i understand that well just to bring in the drinks was kind of like oh we're not doing that okay have you guys seen this isn't funny have you guys seen the um conversation online comparing children to horses and carriages no essentially what this conversation online is is like the only people that are going to be having children moving forward are essentially people that love having children because there's not necessarily like a need for them like there was back in the day of like needing them to take care of you when you're older and all that kind of stuff.

27:00Just like the horse and carriage when the car became a thing, people no longer need horses. So the only people that have horses are the people that love horses. hold on who say we don't need kids anymore yeah i think that i think that the opening line there is just very flawed like we're trending below replacement value of society like we're gonna run out of humans at our current rate that's not my problem who is saying we don't need oh everyone this this horse and carriage as compared to kids thing is like everywhere on my for you page okay but then like we're accepting society ending i guess good time for ai jewels again that's not my problem on that note it did that is your problem with the world is that not a good transition no because i'm not done on my pink pony party sorry she's gonna glitter the hooves pink i love it i'm so excited no no i think it's so i just don't know what you're like allowed to do or not allowed to do on this stuff so i'm sticking on the sidelines i trust that you're going to make sure that all is on side.

28:06Well, no, I hope that it is on side with this, but sometimes I don't know what I don't know. I think, though, that it's adorable, and I'm very excited. And we're in a big horse phase because they neigh, and we do that a lot. So I'm excited about the horses. Okay, so anyways, Tate's party, it's a full go. Yeah, we can transition to apparently AI, this big headline this week, could kill us all. and how could AI kill us all? Because you see that headline and you're like - Well, let's set the story of what happened and how this whole storyline got going. Jules, do you want to kick it off or do you want me to?

28:46You can go ahead. So there was a guy and he spent, let's call it, three years working at OpenAI and then a few months working at Anthropic, who owns Claude and he tweeted and he essentially tweeted something along the lines of I'm resigning from Anthropic today and I'm resigning because of my fears around AI use and the view that AI could potentially kill us all at some point in the next 10 years so that was just like a throwaway tweet where he's just like this is like is that generally what the tweet said? He wasn't expecting I've seen a lot of tweets around it and replying to it. So I just want to make sure I got that first one.

29:35Yes. And I've mainly seen the news interview with him that came as a result of that tweet. But he wasn't expecting this to go viral. He was just like, this is like, I'd like to step down. Well, here is the question. I'm seeing three different trains of thought on this. Okay. Okay. Train of thought number one is what you just said. Like you have a guy who went, did his work at these companies and is generally fearful as to the harm that they can cause. Yep. Okay. That's number one. Okay. Number two, and two and three are more conspiracy theory in nature. Okay. but do have smart people behind them, is that one of Anthropik's strategies is to fearmonger in a way and put a lot of scary ideas out there.

30:32And the idea then being it will force government regulation around AI, which in theory would then be very good for the market leaders. Okay. Why would it be good for the market leaders? Because they thrive under they can survive that. They've already built their share and so they can be a part of creating what that regulation looks like and you know weed out competitors. Yeah and make it tough for the competition. Okay. So you know so hypothetically uh anthropic goes or sorry to because i want to explain this because it isn't the clearest uh so all of these story lines hit the mainstream and people become very very very fearful of ai okay so the government goes we need to step in all right so government goes well what does that actually mean well let's go and let's work with the major players and let's make sure that they're doing all those things to keep things safe and anyone that comes up that isn't doing something that we think is safe can just get shut down okay is that clear yes so that's one potential that's one view of what could be going on.

32:01And then the third view, and this is the most conspiracy theoried in nature, is this guy who quit, he really didn't have much of a social following when he quit. After he tweeted that, allegedly, it was very quickly retreated by a bunch of political activists who are very anti very anti-ai and so there is the theory out there that this is like a you know essentially a government ran push to regulate ai so similar to two but this one not being the flip side of two controlled by anthropic so and people think that he would do that like because he's not he wasn't a big he had such a small social following no one would see it coming from him like why would they pick him that's a bit of a derail let's this is that's not what i want to focus on i want to focus more largely on okay is there any merit behind this because all that made the news was that ai could actually kill assault so how can that happen in theory it could happen in quite a different ways but largely in you know i think two the easiest way to think of it would be two buckets okay there'd be human misuse okay and so ai doesn't have the right guardrails around it and the ai we use has a lot of guardrails around it that can prevent humans from using it to do bad things but but some there was that person that's want to rob a bank and they're like okay let's discuss how exactly so that's misuse so so like one finding loopholes in it okay and even using the ai to help you find those loopholes okay um so there'd be human use misuse human misuse yeah okay the other would be this world where ai develops um a personality of its own and starts acting with uh starts acting poorly or acting in a bad way without any form of human controller initiative and so the ai decides that it wants to destroy civilization and then it goes and starts hacking things and you know potentially turning all the lights you know all the traffic lights green so it's creating accidents and like in the movies you can imagine how it would go from there and like a big thing that uh you're starting to see right now is the emergence of robotics are you guys seeing this or no no no so tesla's um big upcoming push is going to be on human robots a lot of people are very excited about the idea of robots in the home.

34:59Well, you know, AI will be central to that. Do you lose control of those robots? You know, a la what you see in the movie. A la Smart House? Yeah, I'm down for just like, I like the Roomba. That's as much robot as I want. Yeah. You guys know Smart House? Yeah, the movie? Heck yeah. So long story short. They made the robot movie recently where the robot fell in love with the husband. Oh, I don't know that one. Did you guys not see that? No. That was like recent. And there was like somebody really famous in it. Oh, this is, no, this is probably 10 years ago. What was it called? Megan Fox. Yeah, Megan Fox is in it.

35:32Her. Her. Her. Her, yeah. I really want to watch her. So long story short, I do believe - Nope, long story long. Long story long. I've talked about this before. I do believe we need regulation. I believe that it should be an independent regulatory authority that is formed by a group of players in the industry. And if I'm like Alex or I'm a listener and I'm a mom of two and I'm just like hearing all this, I'm overwhelmed, what should I be thinking? Here's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking I trust the process. I believe in – I believe positively in humanity and I think that this is going to bring a bunch of net good.

36:11And I think that we can look at almost every aspect of life and find the potential negative outcome. and that's not how I'm choosing how to live my life on this. Because I can paint a much clearer picture of positivity around AI than I can a negative one. I could point a very negative picture around AI, but I think that's a much lower, lower, lower probability of how things will shake out. Why worry about it twice? That's not how I want things to shake out. so what's what i'm going to take is a little different direction here what's interesting to me about this is in my book careless people okay should we say something about the dog yes please there's a dog next door do you think we could just give them a little knock or no i like it i think it's a good sound okay just tell the people that if you hear a dog barking it's not jenny bears it's not it's the office next door it's not jenny bears and it's not your own dog too correct oh that's even more important are we telling them we got a dog yet I don't know.

37:12Oh, that's not funny. We don't have a dog. Stop. Bad joke. We'll save it. Bad joke. With all the house renovations we've been doing, I've been doing a ton of online shopping. And let me tell you, have you ever ordered something for your house that looked amazing online only for it to look completely different once you get it home? Yeah, me too. And I'm sure it's something that we can all relate to. There is a better way to buy blinds, shades, shutters, and drapery, and it's called 3-Day Blinds. They are the leading manufacturer of high-quality custom window treatments in the U.S. Instead of guessing what looks good, they send local, professionally trained design consultants with an average of over 10 years of experience right to your house to provide expert guidance.

38:3250 % off deal on custom blind shades and drapery. for a free no charge no obligation consultation just head to three day blinds.com slash two parents one last time you guys that's buy one get one 50 off when you head to the number three day blinds.com slash two parents okay so in my book careless people in 2016 zuck is talking about how he built his own ai bot at home like in 2016 he had built his own robot at home and he wanted to and it was like doing house chores for him and he was like investigating how it was working. And I'm like, in 20, like this whole AI thing didn't come onto my radar until 2024, probably.

39:14So I'm wondering the people like that in the driver's seat, what are they already moving on to? Well, it's a really, really, really good point. And it's what also puts merit on what the people at the companies are saying is they know so much more than we know. He's known about this for 10 years. The models that we're playing with are, Or, you know, we were just with a friend in New York. Like, he has access to different models than we have. Yes. So there's just a lot more out there than we know about. And it's funny that AI is, like, becoming mainstream now when Zucks, like, actually probably moved on to something new.

39:49Yeah. But I think you could have painted a very scary picture of what automobiles would do to society or what the internet would do to society. And does the internet cause harm to society? Absolutely. But does it bring significantly more good? Yes. The cure of cancer. Let's remember that. It's not cured cancer by any means, but it has. Remember, there was that really positive story about drastic strides in the medical system. So I do like to hold on to the positive things because here's where my mind goes as a mom. We can't, we're not, I don't sit in a position where I can stop it or affect it.

40:25So I'm just going to look for ways to hopefully embrace it and control it around my family. It's the best I can do. because other I mean it's going to be there it's kind of like food I want us to eat good food in the house but when we go out of the house I can't control you know if she goes to a friend's house can't control that um okay I'm going to move us to on this note of society you know forwarding its technology I don't know iPhone they did release it and it is a flip phone I've still not seen it actually you didn't google it foldable phone foldable foldable phone foldable phone yeah It basically unfolds to like a mini, like a Kindle.

Read the full transcript

41:03So it's that big? Did they increase the front camera? Is the front camera better? I have a question mark on that one. It looks like the old camera, but I didn't do any research into it. Get out of town. They're going to make it flip and they're going to keep the front facing camera the same? Oh, we're going to have to look into that one. my my understanding is that this is that while you typically see improvements with cameras in every generation you did not see that with this release i have a question on the foldable phone how how can glass fold but like they're still not a shatterproof screen so i thought it was shatterproof no you drop i mean that's why i have a new phone oh it's not shatterproof because everything can handle resistance up into a point i just think maybe that's what we should get on next but it's like with heat like your your your hand can handle heat up until a certain point and then it gets burned oh i see so then once if yeah because if it does fall from a certain level it's not going to break but if we drop it from up high of course it's going to shatter i just don't understand how glass can fold it i agree well i think that is there a seam i think there's apparently The cost of developing that is incredibly hard and expensive.

42:23And that's why, to my understanding, Apple is actually paying Samsung a dollar amount for every phone that is produced. Yeah. So I believe they're using Samsung's technology. Can we confirm that? Yeah. How much is the phone? It starts at$2 ,000. $19 ,99. nine up to three thousand do they make different colors yes how are we gonna put a phone case on it there's like a phone case with a flap like an ipad kind of more like a wallet it almost seems like interesting yeah how big so total so it's very large no it's like it's a little smaller than the ipad mini when it when it unfolds when it's folded it's like this and when it unfolds It's like this.

43:15I'm going to get it. Sorry to the audio listener. When does it come out? October. End of October. So do I need to sign up now? No, it's not available. It's not available for pre-sale yet. Are people going to get it? Well, everyone always says, it's like sometimes when Taylor Swift releases a new album. At the beginning, people are like, I'm not sure if I like it. The next day, they're like, I love it. So I'm just going to go ahead and say, Apple knows what I don't know. I'm going to get it. I saw a report from the bank, which estimates that 16 % of their sales next quarter will come from the new phone.

43:47That's lower than I thought, 16 %? I think that's kind of generally what happens. To my understanding, is it not, the expectation is for not much of a difference from previous releases. I met a girl at gymnastics and she works at Apple. Yeah. She said she'd been busy. Now I know why. I have two things. Yes. Guess how much Apple is paying Samsung per unit. 250 bucks. Okay. Well, that wasn't a guess. That's so much more than I thought. That's a lot of money. Oh my gosh. I don't think people know that. I've not seen that online at all. Okay. Very good. What was our source on that? That is, oh, that's from macrumors.com.

44:31See, that's why I said. That doesn't seem like a credible source. That's why I said it's believed. Apple to pay. I couldn't, I couldn't, I saw the rumor mail. I couldn't find the source. Okay. We'll, we'll continue with the legend. That's juicy though. If they're paying two 50, that's a ton of money. Yeah. Like, so here's the big part of yesterday that I don't, the big part of the new iPhone release that I don't think is getting enough attention. Okay. Okay. T-Mobile put out a press release and you can now add a second phone. for$5 a month under the same number. Oh no, people, we're going to have phones everywhere.

45:18Genius. Did what I say just make sense? Yeah. So you're telling me I could keep my current phone, get the new phone, operate them both under my phone number. Yes. Now why I love this. Phone in the car. I got two phones. Why I love this is you can have your entertainment phone and then you can have your phone that is strictly for phone calls. You can have your 5 p.m. phone. I love it too. I'm going to do it. But wait, can you only do it at T-Mobile? So I initially read you can only do it at T-Mobile, but in the T-Mobile press release, they alluded to them being the first implying that others would follow.

46:01But if they were the only one - I'd switch. I would switch for sure. uh but yeah i'm gonna have a a daytime phone which has a whole bunch of apps in it and then my nighttime phone is just gonna be phone calls and maps and music okay but you gotta just let us know when you've done it i'm gonna do it when i get the new phone because we have sat here through you saying you're gonna get your flip phone so you got like i couldn't get my flip phone because of this this was the hold up we talked about this oh right right so i went and I bought a flip phone. But so you could do flip phone. I remember this now.

46:38You could do this theoretically flip phone and iPhone. Could you have two iPhones? So when I first read it, I thought you could do anything. But when I dug a little further, my understanding is you can only do it iPhone to iPhone. So iPhone corners the market again. But hopefully it opens up at some point. So you have two phones. Two phones. What is it? One for the club. One for the plug. One for the plug. And one for the load. I'm not going to explain what it means to you. One for the plug. One for the load. Have you heard this song? No. What? Is it 2 Chainz? Kevin Gates? Do you know that I don't listen to lyrics of songs?

47:21Kevin Gates' two phones? It's Kevin Gates? Yeah. That's my guy. I love him. That was like 2015. I was going to say that was college. There are certain people listen to music. And they're all about the beat and the melody. And other people listen to lyrics. I'm not a lyric listener. This is like facial blindness. Yeah, some people have. Like, I couldn't tell you what any of my favorite songs are about. What is your favorite song? Do you have a number one favorite song? Oh. I do. Mine's first, Cold War Kids. I love that song. I love Cold War Kids, but I don't actually think I know that song. Oh, my gosh.

47:57It's the best one. And it was in a movie. And I was like, this is the best song I've ever heard. I have a new favorite song right now. Oh, let's hear Jules. Stop the Wedding by Ash. Yeah. Oh, it's so good. Is Ash a Nepo baby? I know you love the Nepos. Let's Google. Wait, is Ash my guy? No, she's a girl. Oh, because who's that new guy? Oh, my God. She's not a Nepo baby. A self-made queen. She could be like maybe a Nepo friend. I don't know. She's really good friends with like Phineas and Billy. She's Alex Jules' best friend. No, Billy. Phineas and Billy. Okay. I don't think you trip and fall into Phineas and Billie's friend circle.

48:36No, you could. With them, if you were truly raw, talented, totally. Phineas and Billie aren't not both either. Sorry, I need to reword that because what I said isn't what I meant. I meant like I don't think you get into that friend circle if you're not special. And she went to Berklee College of Music. Okay, so she's a musician. They're not blessing someone who isn't good. Yeah, Phineas and Ashley had a band together. okay yeah you're not like starting a band with someone without talent yeah well especially not those two those two are so talented if you haven't listened to this song yeah i it's the only song i've probably listened to for the past two weeks okay can you send it in chat please yeah i'm on a co-wetzel um you're co all the time it's the only concert i wanted to go to country i don't know who that is he's like dark kind of country i love him so much he's good he's very good he's Last song I was listening to.

49:29Okay. I have a caddy update. Ah, the Cadillac. The Caddy is going to be going in the shop for a long period of time. Cadillac's on 22. Does anybody remember that song? It is. Let us down. We're having too many issues starting. I almost missed a big meeting yesterday. Harrison came running in that. He's like, you got to drop me off. And I'm like, ah. The dependability is just out the window. So we're going to do a big engine tune up. hope that we can sort some of these car issues that i don't understand well i guess we've officially spent more on it than we bought it for huh i don't know sad day it's a sad day i i i had we'd had it back just long enough for me to fall in love with it oh that's sad let's get it working let's get it working yeah but i think you Have you driven a Bronco or a Jeep Cherokee where you can take off the roof?

50:29I had the Wrangler. But, oh, you did? When we met. No, no, no. You had the Jeep truck. The Wrangler truck. So you could take the things off that? The whole roof would go off. Okay. I had the foldable roof. So you could do it with one hand. And I purposely did not get the foldable roof because I didn't think it looked as cool with the roof on. black on black looked pretty damn good I'll get that card again

51:02I just love you sometimes black on black looked pretty damn good self-proclaimed loved the soft top is not cool

51:14okay we agree to disagree alright start a football season and boo not boo but like yay but like it's not that interesting no but here's what is interesting the clay matthews that's more interesting okay do you want to do clay or do you want to talk about this this ohio state situation no i know i really don't i would like to talk about that would you no the australian game though why like the nfl the 49ers played the chargers rams rams the Chargers moved and they became the Rams. I'm remembering this now. No. They were bought? Is there still a San Diego Chargers? Chargers also moved to LA. LA has two teams.

51:55Okay. Yes. Two phones, two teams. Great. So they played in Australia. Yes. So yesterday was the second game of the season. And it was Australia for the first ever time. And do you know who sang the national anthem? The halftime show. Do you know who did the halftime show? No, who? Who sang the national anthem? cody smith cody simpson who who did the halftime show in sync the jonas brothers yeah the joe bro you know what jules and i yesterday we were on a photo shoot and one of the girls had styled the jonas brothers and said no shot the shoot the photographer had shot them and she said they were very nice they're the best because she's from minnesota and i was like my husband would tell you he loves your state fair good state fair and then i was like he went with the jonas brothers and then she was like i've shot them and they're very nice yeah and we talked all about the nice people that they have met the famous nice people look at that there was only one that wasn't nice we're not going to say who it was i missed that convo it was jules it was not jules it was could you imagine if like jules was the ellen of all this what a spin zone that would be but ellen And Ellen, now what's going on with Ellen?

53:12So. She just kind of. So what happened with Ellen is, you know, she obviously built this big. Are you asking like what happened in that situation? No, I know what happened in the situation. People were saying she wasn't nice. Yeah, a bunch of people came out and just took a bunch of shots at her. And it doesn't ever really feel like she came back from that. Yeah, we don't have to go. But the winner in all of it was Dakota Johnson. Why? Dakota Johnson, like, she, oh, there's a famous clip where Ellen, what, didn't get invited to her birthday party, but Dakota Johnson did invite her to her birthday party and Dakota Johnson just calls her out for it live on the Ellen show.

53:53It was just like, it's fantastic to watch. Okay, maybe we'll have to watch that. That's like Dakota Johnson, one of her claims to fame in my brain. What else, what has she been in? Fifty Shades of Grey. that's her she was just in the material list I'm thinking of Dakota you're thinking of Dakota Vanning I was yes okay god I've caught up now alright Clay Matthews well hold on on the Australian game there was one really interesting dynamic that played out so the 49ers they flew out a week before the game the Rams flew out a day before the game who won and the whole mindset with the 49ers was they want to acclimate to the time zone and the mindset of the rams was they don't want to mess with their sleep cycle i like that and so they the game was played at you know uh 5 30 uh west coast time but obviously that was like noon there so they wanted to keep their body on the same so to me the rams they did what we do which is toilet learning they just took it onto the fly and removed the pressure where the 49ers had potty training who won who won the game this was this was where my traveling experiences made me place a big bet you can't travel that far and not get your like get rocked i just didn't like the 49ers smashed them and the rams are a huge favorite like you're you're you are playing with a hand tied behind your back oh i was totally gonna guess the rams won you know the facial blindness thing like i you know you just explained which team did what uh the 49ers went a week early to acclimate and they lost and they won they rushed them and And the Rams should have won.

55:52The Rams should have won. The Rams flew in the day before. The Rams flew in the day before. And in all my experience with time zones, I'm a zombie for the first 24 to 48 hours. And they lost? They lost. And they should have won. Because they're a better team? Yeah. They're the Super Bowl favorites. And you wanted to place a bet on who? I bet on the 49ers. Which was the right thing. Yeah. Yeah. I couldn't believe this. why couldn't you believe it if you bet on it he couldn't believe the rams did that i couldn't believe the rams go take it more seriously get your butt there i guess the rams did it because last year they did the same thing in london that's a different beast it's a it's a different beast i would have thought the rams still won that's so funny yeah and obviously revisionist history who likes talking about Betsy won you gotta talk about Betsy lost but I it felt like a truly insane move but I actually wish I talked about it on on Wednesday's episode because my conviction was there as well and it was in the group chats oh really yeah see this is one of those I can make a case for depending on who you told me won I'd be like of course it makes all the sense in the world like whichever one you told me would have won uh do you know how sore your body is after a flight that long don't they have like a team plane can't you like walk around i would assume stretch i don't know it's just it's not yeah i'm i'm sure they had big comfy beds and all that stuff still you're still in um the altitude or what is yeah for You're getting dehydrated.

57:41Yeah. Like flying takes a toll on your body. It was just. And so are people talking about that? Saying like that was a crazy move? Yes. It's a very weird. Like people coming into the game are like. They couldn't believe that two teams had such different strategies. Yeah. This is very interesting. Yeah. All right. Let's move to the Clay Matthews ad. So. Here's why I shared this. Okay. Oh, I think it's fascinating. I love a beautifully executed marketing campaign end to end. And I feel like we do a lot of talking about, like we did last episode on what companies should be doing. And then when a company nails it, we got to call it.

58:25Okay. Caesar Sportsbook. Nailed this one. Okay. Explain it to us. And it was Caesar Sportsbook, right? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. so a couple weeks ago i see this this image going viral on tmz of clay matthews and uh it talks about how he has facial reconstructive surgery and this uh this tmz article is getting you know a serious amount of views and you know a lot of debate this is fake this is not whatever whatever But the point is I'm seeing this photo everywhere and I'm seeing TMZ covering it. And so I'm thinking like if TMZ is covering it, there's got to be some – Legitimacy to it. Yeah. Some – Validity.

59:17Some validity. Thank you very much. then comes out that clay matthews and for those who don't know clay matthews he's a big nfl linebacker uh like i would say is a pronounced jawline yes as is but this the photo that they will obviously put up the photo on the screen but the photo that they're doing is very um is it mr incredible sort of ask. Exactly. It's very like large. Like it looks thick. The Crimson Gin. Yes. From Jimmy Turner. Exactly. And then boom, NFL season kicks off. The ad drops with Caesar's Sportsbook. Caesar's Sportsbook, new look, just like Clay Matthews, new face. No, we've had some work done.

1:00:03We've had some work done. We've had some work done. Clay Matthews says, I've had some work done and so has Caesar's Sportsbook, which is why this is a hashtag ad. Yes. Perfection. Yeah. Perfection. And then I went back to the TMZ article and at the top, it clarified it was an ad from Caesars. So here's my question. Number one, my commentary is, it's hard to do a perfectly executed ad these days because the public is getting smarter on ads. Yeah. Like they can sort of suss out an ad quicker. They're a little more skeptical of ads sometimes. Anyways, I think it's hard to do a beautifully executed ad.

1:00:38I think this was one. my question is though what's going on with tmz being able to be bought for an article like that that's good we're good with that you know like can can a new couple can benson boone and kendall jenner is that who it is no jacob alorty and kendall jenner can they plant like i'm glad i'm glad you did this tmc i'm glad that this is where you went because my brain went here and then i got distracted okay and i think that that yes they that they have now unlocked a series of of now future attempted marketing campaigns that are going to happen and i don't think any of them will be as good as the as this original one and that's the problem and now every time tmz drops an ad we're going to be looking at it and if it says sponsored by we're going to know it's tmz like it's really interesting though because like it is disclosed as an ad but like it's it's sneaky it's sneaky and like it's a little it's it's making not that i ever thought team z had the best integrity on the planet but i did think when they reported stuff there was like some slight maybe a one percent truth to it's like this was a full-blown ad so now i'm wondering it's just going to make me want me to keep an eye on it yeah i i don't hate it because i'm good with tmz doing it me too you got to make money i understand that because i don't because there's no harm created that's that's where my line's at when i read when i read the ad my first thing i was going to say was they win and nobody was harmed in the making of this.

1:02:22Like there's no shots fired. So, so if they, if they had an ad bought and that ad created harm to people or to a group of people, then I would add, you know, cause, cause confusion that created negative effects. Right. Then I would feel differently. This was just like, did Clay Matthews have a chin job or not? Okay. You guys know how much I love everything from Cozy Earth, the sheets, the towels, and now the pajamas. I've been sleeping in their bamboo stretch knit set and getting into bed has genuinely become one of the best parts of my night. The first time I put them on, I could not believe how soft they were.

1:02:57They're silky smooth with just a little bit of stretch, nothing stiff or scratchy at all because you don't want to sleep in that. And I run warm at night, which has always been my problem with pajamas, but these are light and breathable. So I'm not waking up being overheated. The fit is what really gets me though. You guys, they're relaxed and drapey and they move with you all night, but they still look put together enough that'll answer the door in them. Honestly, I stay in them way past my morning coffee, which is the best part. It's so cozy. There have been multiple days where I've thought, could I even just wear these outside the house?

1:03:28Probably, I might. And sometimes I even do walk to the neighbors in them. And there's really no risk in trying them because if the fit isn't right, there's a return and exchange window and everything is backed by a warranty against manufacturing defects. So head to CozyEarth.com and use our code 2PARENTS for up to 20 % off home and sleepwear. That's code 2PARENTS for up to 20 % off home and sleepwear. If you see the post-purchase survey, be sure to let them know that you heard about Cozy Earth right here. While you were in the bathroom, we were discussing elevator etiquette. Great, great topic.

1:04:02Because P was saying Heather McMahon was in an elevator, and her and her friend, they were talking at a low volume. And the older lady in the elevator shushed them, and they were like, oh, this obviously isn't about us. and then they just like kept talking. And then she was like, didn't anybody ever teach you the elevator song? Like you don't talk in elevators. And they were like, whoa. And I was thinking, I definitely talk in elevators, but at a lower, most of the time, actually I don't. I do pause my conversation in an elevator. But if I need to keep talking, I'll just do it at a lower octave.

1:04:32Yeah, I'm totally with you. I rarely talk in elevators, but you are, I think you are 100 % allowed to talk in elevators. Just do it at a respectful level. Totally. What's ruder than talking in the elevator is shushing someone. I completely agree. Shushing another adult. Correct. Who can decide. There is no rule about whether or not you're supposed to. But it's like on an airplane, don't yell. Just kind of read the room. Jules, do you want to talk about the epidemic in your building or no? Sure. I want to hear. No problem. There is not a single man that – well, there's one single man that lets you off the elevator first.

1:05:09otherwise a man in my building is always getting off the elevator first completely unacceptable zero regard do you pot like and and to the point yeah you got to do the i do the arm over the door letting them know as well please that way it's clear i'm my only thought right now is like are the rules different in your own home no no i take the firm like i am the last person out of that elevator which i love i like that you just and i and i i mark it by having the door the hand over the door so would you always try and stand then to like the left or the right of the door so that i do try to take that spot if possible but it can it can get tricky maybe it's where these men are standing when i'm walking in where are they standing they're standing like directly back behind the door.

1:06:10But that's where they should, that seat, that position allows you to hold and make it clear. If you stand behind the buttons. Yeah, she's saying they're standing right when you walk in in the back. And then so I'm forced to go to the right and stand behind the buttons. And then they're getting off first. It's like a real noticeable problem in my building. And I would like to, I'll bring it up to one of the other girls in the building and see if they notice it yes ask them do some polling i will say everyone in my building really nice really respectful but it is a notable thing that's interesting does it change with the dog and it's like no it even makes it more important with the dog because you need to make sure the dog gets out without yeah i don't want i don't want the dog i don't want the the doors to be closing on the dog i need the dog to get out to make sure the leash like what if we had a leash situation yeah you know in the doors and i was thinking that too but it happens whether i'm with my dog or without my dog do you know when i don't do it i do got to call it when i'm just with tate because i can't um that can be a problem if it's just me and tate in an elevator well even unless you're holding her unless i'm holding like if she boots it out i need to be very oh yeah she goes that's a different situation huh elevator etiquette interesting well you know they had they used to say in the movies like with anna wintour you know the devil wears prod you gotta can't talk really yeah you try to wait like with bubba i'll try to wait but sometimes you can't bubba talks in elevators but my favorite thing bubba's doing right now is like we'll go into the room like rocky rocky's asleep and so she knows we go shh and then she'll go he's asleep i'm like and now he's awake and then he'll open his eyes and she'll go he's awake and i'm like yep there it is he's awake but she knows we go but she doesn't know that means to lower your voice my favorite part of the day right now is is our morning cuddles she's so cute and i told her this morning i said mom is asleep so we gotta go night night she was okay and she was so good and then she came into bed and she went right right to sleep and she was asleep for a good like minute minute and a half and then you went up and went to the bathroom and she popped and then her day mom awake mom awake yeah her day was has begun yeah she's so cute oh little bear um all right do we want to do the high rocks high rocks got acquired high rocks sold let's let's give us the rundown all right um according to drew fallon who's drew fallon so drew fallon is he's become a character in the consumer world because he tweets uh a bunch of he's always tweeting relevant consumer news okay yeah so this guy he he's all over my timeline All right.

1:09:06Well, L. Catterton nears acquisition of High Rocks for$700 million. L. Catterton is close to buying and controlling a stake, buying a controlling stake in High Rocks, the fitness racing series that Harrison loves, and a deal that would value the brand at about $697 million. Launched in 2017. Pretty cool. Pretty cool stuff. Does L. Catterton own Louis Vuitton? Can you Google that?

1:09:38I don't think they do. Or what is it, LMH? LMH. I don't think they do. No. Do they have any? The relationship is actually the reverse or a partnership. LVMH owns a 40 % minority stake in Alcaterton. There it is. While the remaining 60 % is owned by Alcaterton's partners. so maybe we'll get some lv high rocks merch and harrison will be really excited to buy it a collab a collab i did not know that about caterton caterton is is one of the more respected consumer private equity funds out there and lvmh owns 40 of it pretty cool uh okay what do is there anything you want to talk about with this deal anything that would be interesting i think that If someone were to find it interesting, it would be you.

1:10:33I don't want to talk about things that would bore you guys. Well, I didn't realize that the race could be worth$700 million. I mean, I'm fascinated in that. I think that this is going to be viewed as a very good deal by them. I think that... It's only going to rise. I think that they have the potential. I think with the right

1:11:00execution it can be significantly bigger and more commercial than it is now yeah and the development kind of more so around a pro league and nailing the sponsorship piece but I do think it's going to be a fine line where like on one end I see how they could absolutely knock this out of the park but if not executed correctly there is a huge risk that they kick the specialness out of it like you know part of what I love about this race like they make the everyday Joe feel like a pro athlete right do you want to see it get more commercialized or no? I want to make sure that every event feels special Yeah.

1:11:53And what I get very fearful of is like it's going to turn into Tough Mudder where like you can just sign up and everyone goes and does it and you lose your competitive edge. And and so that's the scary side of it, of it for me. um yeah i like the way it is now but we'll see so i'm i i i believe that they will execute this this the right way i what i really yeah what i'm most fearful of is is that they open up too many cities and the races stop selling out and they're more empty and you lose the competitive edge yeah we don't want them to lose their quality yeah um all right well i think we did it for today I would love to do the flag football one.

1:12:40Okay, Jules, then we're going to do it. Should have done it when we were talking about football. All right, girls flag football. Girls flag football. This is like such a crazy statistic, but it is now the fastest growing sport in the U.S. That's what I wanted to do. I wanted to ask you guys, do you know what the fastest growing sport in the U.S. is? Yeah, but we all knew. Girls flag football. Girls flag football. Who would, I didn't even know we were doing this. And I wanted to ask you guys, do you know who's funding it? Who's funding it? Because this is the interesting part. Is he not the owner of the Falcons?

1:13:09It's multiple NFL teams because where does the NFL have their biggest opportunity for growth? Women. And who are they creating by funding these girls flag football teams? Women fans. Women interested in football. Genius. It's so far. Taylor Swift walked so that this could run. So that this could run. What I'll say is flag football may be the most fun sport out there. it is a blast well and it removes all the head injury so i'm glad to see i'm glad to see that it's getting some resources behind okay but this is the most fascinating thing to me more than 20 states have officially sanctioned it as a varsity sport oh i didn't know that i didn't realize like it was that mainstream there's 50 plus girls college teams oh yeah there's 50 plus girls college teams and it's making its debut in the olympics in 2028 it's kind of fun that you can just make a new varsity sport i feel like we were just rocking the same varsity sports for a bit we were very unoriginal we we are seeing a master class in uh in growth of a sport yeah and who better i didn't realize like what a widespread coordinated effort this was yeah and she's right who better to do it than the than the footballers the nfl And I think Under Armour just did a big sponsorship of it.

1:14:31I think it was Under Armour. Yeah. And as you alluded to, to have a more injury-free offering. Amazing. Is it growing in men's as well? Or is this going to be the female side of it? Because the men's is going to be in the Olympics.

1:14:51Yes. men's flag football is rapidly growing driven by international expansion major investments I would guess from the NFL and upcoming Olympic debut genius I'd love for Tate to take a that's what I was going to ask you guys yeah Tate's going to play the sports that she chooses to play she is going to choose but if she chooses flag football I'd love it I'm going to jump in here jump Okay. While we will sign her up for a wide variety of sports, it will become very clear to us early on what she wants to do and what it does not, as we are seeing with gymnastics and dance. She loves both. She loves both.

1:15:34She started doing her TikTok dance. TikTok, TikTok. I'm a little cuckoo clock. She does it like she wants. She's always looking at me like doing this. I'm like, I got you, girl. We'll sing it. If she doesn't like something, how long does she have to stick with it? Jules, it's the best question ever because I used to be signed up for dance. And if I was signed up for the whole session, I had to go for the whole session. And that was, on one token, it taught me we have to finish things we start, which we all know I'm actually still obsessed with till this day. But on the other hand, I don't know.

1:16:03Do we need to do things we don't like if life is short? Probably, yeah. If we sign up, we're going. That's what I would say. I think that this will be a very interesting. I don't want to be setting the precedent. We can quit things early. I'm excited for the first time for this to occur because I think I may be supportive of her stopping going. Really? I'm going to want to read the situation. If she shows a habit that she does start things and finish them, if she likes them, and we have a very good track record of that, that's where I will be okay if she wants to not do something. If we're always starting and not finishing things, no.

1:16:43tate also in terms of this eldest daughter virgo she completes things more than her mom and dad do the this woman when she goes like she this child she gets her own plate out of the drawer brings it over sets it like if we're like let's just eat off each other's plate she's like where's my plate we're like oh okay so we'll all get yesterday we had uh another couple went to the neighbors and they made my my fate they make the best chicken dish in the world truly the best in the world they made it for everyone it's chicken and rice and they had six bowls on the table bubba brought every bowl to the neighbor to serve people and if anyone tried to take their bowl she would swat away so i i don't think we're gonna have a problem with tate starting things and finishing them i do think it will be very obvious what she likes and i guess you'd like try it before you put them in a session or something right well she didn't try gymnastics before and she loves it oh it's tomorrow i'm so excited so excited for gymnastics class okay okay well we love you guys thank you for listening have a great weekend thanks for listening to another episode of two parents if you enjoyed the show don't forget to subscribe like comment rate and review stay connected on instagram tiktok youtube and facebook at two parents in a pod welcome to our home sorry it's so messy new episodes every monday Wednesday and Friday.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast.. we open today by acknowledging September 11th, 25 years later. We take a minute to remember, share where we were, and say what matters most: we will never forget.

There's no good way to transition into the rest of the episode, so here we are. Lots of stuff today, but we start with a major question: when do you have to start dressing your age?? Like, can a dad of two be walking around in trendy fits.. or is it time for a collared shirt? (Harrison is at a genuine crossroads.) Then a potty training follow up: apparently what we're doing isn't potty training at all lol. The internet has informed us we are TOILET LEARNING. Great that there's a name for it!! But our vibe remains the same: no pressure, dance parties when it works, and we will not be looking into this further hahaha… And a Tate's birthday update!! Thank you all for letting us know we cannot do a Pink Pony Club party for a two year old… Instead: a party with LOTS of pink (and ponies) but there will be NO clubs.

Now let's get into what's going on in the world (that we're interested in.. guys, that's why we talk about this stuff): the headline that was everywhere this week, could AI ACTUALLY k*ll us all?! We break down what actually happened behind it and whether there's any merit (plus how we’re thinking of this as parents). Then the new iPhone's most underrated feature: two phones, ONE number?! Football is officially back (and kicked off in AUSTRALIA, where the two teams ran two totally different travel strategies.. one of them, we'd argue, chose toilet learning), the Clay Matthews ad campaign that fooled the entire internet first (genius or too far?), and HYROX got acquired!!

Finally, a big topic of interest: youth sports. Two things: the fastest growing youth sport in America is being funded in a genuinely smart way (follow the money on this one), and the question every parent eventually faces: how long should kids stick with a sport they try? Like if Tate signs up for flag football and hates it.. does she have to finish the session?

LOVE YOU GUYS!
