In short
Katie Drummond introduces Wired’s new weekly podcast series “The Big Interview,” focused on how technology, power, and culture intersect. Key claims
hunger is an innate trait; media/institutions often “capitulate” to maintain access and avoid upsetting power; she prefers being criticized over tolerating neo-Nazi content.

At Wired, we're obsessed with getting to the bottom of those questions on a daily basis. And maybe you are too. I'm Katie Drummond, the Global Editorial Director of Wired, and I'm hosting our new podcast series, The Big Interview. Each week, I'll sit down with some of the most interesting, provocative, and influential people who are shaping our right now. CEOs and co-founders, entrepreneurs and inventors, artists and activists. Yes, we'll talk about their big jobs. But I'll also interrogate who they are as human beings. How they got where they are.
0:38Katie Drummond:What keeps them up at night. And what keeps them going in an uncertain world. I think most things in life are learned traits. They're not something that you're born with. But hunger is something you can't really teach people. You're either hungry or you're not. Big interview conversations are fun. You know, the sharks in the Atlantic Ocean should eat all the cables underneath the Atlantic Ocean that connect the Internet. That's the piece of technology that I want. I want a shark that. That eats the Internet. That turns it all off. Unfiltered. Bring woke back. I'd rather be canceled a million times for saying something that someone perceived as like remotely ableist or something than have to fucking deal with the neo-Nazis posting Adolf Hitler fan cams and getting hundreds of thousands of likes.
1:24Katie Drummond:And unafraid. The incentive structure for the bigger places is to capitulate and get in line, maintain access, don't piss off the administration too much, don't do any of that stuff. We just don't. We're the opposite. This show is where technology, power, and culture come together. Every week, we're going to offer you the ultimate luxury of our times, meaning and context. True or false, you, Brian Johnson, the man sitting across from me, one day, at some point, as of yet undefined in the future, you will die. False. Tell me more.
