0:27Adobe Acrobat Studio, so brand new. Rinse takes your laundry and hand delivers it to your door, expertly cleaned and folded, so you could take the time once spent folding and sorting and waiting to finally pursue a whole new version of you, like tea time you. Mmm. Or this tea time you. Or even this tea time you. So did you hear about Dave? Or even tea time, tea time, tea time you. Mmm. So update on Dave. It's up to you. We'll take the laundry. Rinse. It's time to be great.

1:34Oh my god, sorry. Oh, you scared me. I was like, was that that loud? Okay, now we're going live. Okay. Okay.

1:44Let us know. Going live on Marquez. Wait, we're not live, right? You want me to count down? Well, we're already live. Oh. No, no, but they can't see you yet. We still have the technical difficulties. Can they hear us? So let me know when we're live. I see you live on the thing right now. Okay, yeah, we're live. Yeah, we're live. Okay, great. Yo. Welcome to this super on time, super impromptu, but definitely live. You obviously can tell it's really live. Waveform episode number 300. Like the movie. It's good to be here. Guys, why are we late? yeah well you know going live is is always an adventure and you guys are setting up obs and wanted to plug it into this channel and we're testing it on another channel and we went live and obs and it wasn't live here and we'd have to connect the dots now it's all good we were going live to adam's channel our test channel yeah for a little bit there oh that's funny but we're here we're here we're your hosts i'm marquez i'm andrew and i'm david so we had a lot of fun at the last live thing that we did, which is South by Southwest, but that was on stage for technically a closed event where you had to pay to have tickets to South by and then go to our thing.

2:59This, we just wanted to have fun and do an episode for everyone, and episode 300 was a good opportunity to do that, because we've come a long way. What do we want to do? Because we have chat going pretty crazy right now. We can talk to them. I want to tell you a story really quickly. Sure. Wait, before you do that, start asking questions in the chat, please. Most of this episode will be us answering them. We have people grabbing questions from here. Dave's going to tell a story. Then we're going to get a little sappy about the podcast and then we'll answer questions. That's nice. Cool. Okay. Fire.

3:32Last night I had a dream. Okay. I want to tell you guys about my dream. Okay. So this is right before I woke up, by the way, so I still remember the whole thing. Okay. Incredible. Okay. I was rollerblading to work. I don't know why. I don't know how to rollerblade. You knew the commute? I think that we were in another city. I was rollerblading. It was super fun. I was like, this is so sick to do this live podcast. Right. Okay. So I get to the office and we're in this other room, but you guys were like, okay, in order to do this live podcast, we only own one camera. So we have to, we had this small round table that was like, it was like this big, it was not big.

4:10And we're all kind of crowded around it with this big wide angle lens. And we're like, okay guys, we're doing the live podcast. and then we had like sundaes you know like ice cream sundaes and they had banana splits in them and Marquez tried to convince me that the way that you make chocolate like hard on the top of ice cream is by putting like like melting butter and pouring it on it and I was like that's not how that works he was like yes it is and then we fought about it for like a while Your brain. And then I woke up. Your brain does not have very much faith in me. That is wild. You were triggered by the conversation the other day about whether it was read or read receipts.

4:54Yeah, we did have a whole test stream where then we went into this 40-minute conversation about read receipts versus read receipts. By the way, I put out a poll on Twitter and threads. Is it read receipts or read receipts? Wait, you mean you put it out on Twitter and threes? Well, I put. Thread receipts. So threads said red receipts won the poll, but on Twitter, read receipts won the poll. Yeah, but how much did it win by on threads? So it won by a higher percentage on threads, but less votes were cast on threads. So I had to do the math because there was 50 ,000 more votes on Twitter, even though it won by a smaller percentage.

5:33And overall total between all of the votes, I think read receipts slightly edged out. No, red receipts slightly edged out read receipts, which was a bummer because that's incorrect. But anyway, that happened. Chat has gone crazy. I see a lot of you guys saying the volume is low, so I think we're going to try to bump that up a little bit. Is it live or pre-recorded? It's live. Threads, thank you. Shout out to everyone who is actually doing your dishes. this is super new but David why do you think the RX1R that just got released is uh five thousand dollars uh because they can shout out to Sony and tariffs all right so small retrospective then we'll go all chat because we wanted to just sort of recap how we got here to episode 300 that's true so waveform started as just Andrew and I and just audio and that was 2019 August 2019 when we first started.

6:30And the idea of the podcast was pretty, it's kind of the same as it is now, which was we have a lot of these conversations about tech that don't make it to videos or are kind of like the run-up that turns into videos, et cetera. And we just want to capture those because they're actually really interesting conversations and maybe people will enjoy it. And sometimes it's like the conversation we're having for the first time. So you can almost see all our brains working on like how this could, there have been conversations on the podcast that we've turned into videos because we've had a good enough conversation about it.

6:59Yeah, unfinished thoughts. Yeah, exactly. Getting into the weeds on stuff. It soon turned into a weekly podcast, and we had two years of basically getting up to weekly by January 2021. Yeah. And then Adam joined as a permanent producer of the Waveform podcast. Shout out to Adam. That was episode 50. Adam is also currently live camera switching right now, so he is locked in. But that was Adam's joining. David joined as a guest host for the first time ever, also in 2021. And actually, this is the beginning of trivia. So it was episode 54. Do you remember this? I remember doing the trivia thing. There was like a trivia segment of us, and he was the host of the trivia segment.

7:46I think it was before video, but that kind of was technically the first trivia we've ever done on the podcast. Yeah, we had the second table. the weird table in here yeah that's also the first time we did a long form episode which is when you told us the the story essentially of how boosted boards rose and fell yeah and we've done some many more really interesting long form storytelling type episodes since then which is awesome looking here between episode 45 and 62 a lot of stuff happened we went we decided it would be a real thing yeah basically because like that was episode 59 for rise and fall of boosted and then episode 62 is our first video podcast yeah so then you know we fast forward a little bit tim starts making a sort of a a thumbnail thumb wow thumbnail template we can't redo that thumbnail template thumbnail a tim nail we have tim nails now um and we also started we added ellis as a full-time producer his first episode is 2022 in may um that was episode 116 can i tell a funny story from that real quick yeah because when you get hired here there's like a short period where you're not on camera you're still like finding your way and like you're just sort of you know get used to the vibe before you're like um and there was no producer cam at this point so it wasn't like i was going to be on camera but on my first wave four episode before i had any idea what was going on like still learning the ropes i'm like sitting back here in the corner and like you turn around marquez and you just go ellis what do you think about that and i was just like what do i don't exist yeah i don't exist no pressure uh yeah this is this is a pretty classic intro but then yeah by the time we get to 2023 david is a full-time permanent host we are doing videos we are cooking on youtube that was 23 yeah and it's been growing it's for like permanent full-time because you were on plenty of episodes before then that's still you I posted so many.

9:42So this morning I asked ChatGPT, how many episodes did David host before 2023? And I said 297. He has no idea. Considering there are 300 total episodes. He has no idea. It has no clue. Yeah. It's funny. But long story short, we're halfway through 2025. We're closing in on six years of this being a podcast. 300 episodes. Lots of thoughts. Lots of dishes washed. Lots of trivia questions answered. I would love to know the stats on how many dishes have been washed. I think about that a lot. Spotify wrapped. That would be an awesome section of Spotify. You washed 800 plates while listening to Waveform.

10:21But yeah, thank you for subscribing, of course, and for listening and for watching and for being a part of Waveform. Now, I'm locked in on chat. I'm just watching chat now. I want to know what you guys want to know. Chat, are we cooked? I think we should just read from questions. Yeah. Yeah. I've just seen a lot of nice shirt, David. Oh, thank you. Nice. I'm using my party shirt for the live episode. Try to make it colorful. Here's a random one. Fitterista. Will Fairphone 6 get a full review? Maybe. Oh, this is perfect. We would normally not keep talking through the, I don't know if you guys can hear the lawnmower outside, or the air rake.

10:56What do you call it? Air rake? Lawn mower? Air rake? Air rake? I've called it. I grew up on air rake, and everyone else says leaf blower, but I grew up on air rake. I've never even heard of that. I thought that was a Twitch streamer. Air rake. Air rake is a YouTuber. and air rake sounds like what they would call it in the 50s to like wow yeah but it made so much sense because as a kid i was like yeah air rake that makes perfect sense it's what do you call the other one for like edges and uh the trimmer string trimmer oh string yeah or weed whacker weed whacker yeah yeah there's more more on point but yeah we normally this is our first debate we would normally stop recording when that makes noise but it's live i normally would have cut that whole section.

11:37Yeah. I know here we are. Well, Fairphone 6 did a full review. I don't know. You should. David says I should. David has one. I do have one as well. Yeah, maybe. I think that's a good idea. Let me know if you think we should. I need you to experience the Switch. True. We've been talking about this Fairphone 6 dumb phone Switch for like three episodes now. Good to know. Yeah. All right. Let's see. How old were you guys 300 episodes ago? So 2019? 19? Yeah, 29. I was six years younger. 25? Yeah. And I was tweeting all the time. Actually, yeah. What were you? How old were you? Six years ago when you tweeted that joke?

12:19Six years ago, I was already doing waveform for six years. I don't know what you're talking about. Nice. I was in 2019. You were a baby. You were just born. That was six years ago. So I would have been 21 years old. Never met Marquez Brownlee. Wow. Innocent. Yeah. So innocent. I think I was 27 six years ago. I was a baby. I was 24. Yeah. I'm old, Ellis. You know time? You just learned how old Adam is? Wait, what? Math. Adam never gives away secrets about himself, so. I've known Adam for like 11 years. A decade. And I still know nothing about him. And believe me, I ask. I ask. What's behind the beard, Adam?

13:11A really baby face. I'm just saying 4 ,000 people watching right now. Hey, that's what I said. Isn't that what I told you? You actually said like 4 ,300. I said 4 ,300 and something. I guessed 325, so I'm happy. All right, what else are people asking? Let's see. Watch 8 Classic Review. I did just get the Watch 8 Classic, so that's also a candidate for review. And I'm doing a video on a bunch of other things related to it. So that might be an option. Yeah. I saw Mr. Mobile saying like it is the most beautiful smart watch he's like ever worn. And why are there pill shaped buttons in like a circular watch?

13:47And there's so many software decisions that feel pretty rough about it. Yeah. I'm surprised that he said it's the most beautiful watch because he's like always been in on the nautical version of the Garmin. The Captain. It is a really nice looking watch. I think it's one of the nicest looking ones if it didn't have two days of battery life. It's almost as nice looking as you. Danny says, is Notion still king? We still use Notion. Define king. Yeah, king meaning it's our king. We use it here. But there's lots of options that we could also use. We are so built into Notion now that we're kind of just, it is our king.

14:24Boring answer. Best emoji. This is a good question. Objectively? You guys already know. Super fun times. Oh, what is it? The HDR one that Ellis made, clearly. No, no, I didn't make it. I found it. Let's do best, like, not default, but, you know, like, comment emoji. Comment emoji? No stickers, because my custom emoji stickers go crazy. Wait, what is a comment emoji? I'm going with the common. Common. Melting face. Melting face is amazing. That's my top. It's not even hot in here yet, but I'm going to use an emoji soon. I like upside down face. that just feels like a like i don't why is this happening yeah i'm gonna look at my emoji keyboard and see what i've been using recently do you have one ellis or adam a little scared mine is definitely the salute i use that one all the time salute melty face are both really good um i used the joker recently the joker emoji the joker card oh card oh i didn't know you're saying that's best emoji no he just used oh you know what's really good the easter island head that's actually I love that one I so this is not a common emoji but I recently obtained a sticker that's the like looking down shame emoji while putting on the clown mask emoji yeah combo emojis are are in with AI tiny media says why do you guys have different microphones well we might have answered this before yeah Marquez why do we have different microphones yeah so you might notice that I'm the only one with a different microphone there's a Shure SM7B over there there's a Shure SM7B over there sure There's a short SM7B over there.

15:56True. And then there's an Electrofoice RE27. It's because Marques and I sound too similar. So if we had the same mic, you would never know that we were not the same person. Yeah, right. RE27. No, no. It's an RE20 blank ND. It's the broadcast variant of the 27. It's a little bit brighter. It still has the same proximity effect, like caging. I don't want to argue with Ellis, but I thought the RE27 was the broadcast version of the RE20. Yeah, no, no. You're so right. I do have a degree in this, but argue all you want. Wait, am I right or wrong? No. It says RE27ND on it. Yeah, it says RE27 on it. But I got it just because of the brightness and how it sounds better with my voice.

16:34And then I just got used to it, and now my voice sounds muddy. Wait, can I switch to your mic for a second? No, Andrew, you are right. I'm totally wrong. See how much muddier it sounds? Doesn't that sound dull and basic? So you gave us the muddy mics? No, I simply got used to it. That's a pro-boss move right there. I think you guys sound great on it, but I wonder if you use this mic if it would sound bad also because it's different You'll just never sound as great as he does. It does sound different This is just good for my voice. I've used your mic before when you're gone and I will use it after you're gone Damn, is that a threat?

17:07You decide it does sound weird on my voice for sure who's doing the camera cuts Bumble that would be Adam Bumble. He's doing the camera cuts live as we talk. I'm trying my best so give me some grace please which is it's gone really well uh la critic what headphones do y 'all daily drive interesting question oh i have two answers actually yeah we'll start it uh power beats pro for working out and then at the moment sony wh1000x m6 for traveling and flights and everything wait power beats pro the ogs oh i actually have a third answer power beats pro 2 the new Powerbeats Pro 2 while I work out, the Sony WH-1000XM6 when I'm traveling, but also while editing, what is on my desk?

17:51It's the Sennheiser HD 650s on my desk. That's what I edit with. So those are the three headphones that I use. That's a lot. There's a lot of headphones. Yeah. I've been using the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds because they have best noise cancellation by far. They do! Sony's just oh for buds. Yeah Sony's are also incredible their ANC is insane fair enough Okay, let's tell us tell me which ones are better. You already know bro. They're not they're not even They are the air pods are not even close Mathematically, no, they're not they are they're not they're not They are I don't have a degree in this and they're not It's the kind of thing we're like maybe maybe for your ears.

18:36Oh my god They're like the shape of your ear canals. They're better, but I promise no the AirPods Pro 2. They're horrible. Whoa, whoa. Listen, they sound really good. Yeah. I think the AirPods Pro 2 are the best sounding headphones I have, but the noise cancellation is not even close to the best. You might have a bad fit. Yeah, then you have a bad fit. They are really, really good. Why have the lightning ones? Are they different? No, no. You're using the wrong ear tips, that means. Yeah, wait. Are you talking about the wireless noise-canceling silicon tip AirPods? The ones widely regarded as best in class.

19:10Yeah, but they're not as good noise cancellation. They are. They're not. I'm going to look this up right now. You should mess with the tip size just to see if it gives you better. There's different tips? Yes, there's four. They come with a bunch of tips, and you probably just kept the medium ones that are on it or whatever. It probably has all my earwax in it, too. Yeah. Anyway. I use the Beats Fit Pro for working out. Oh, right. I have a Sonos Ace for mowing the lawn. Sonos Ace? Yeah. I do like them. They're comfy. They are. For mowing the lawn? For mowing the lawn and flying. Yeah, I mean, it's over ear.

19:42What's the difference? Over ear, need it to be quieter. Lots of white noise. Yeah, good noise canceling, yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right, this is from Sound Guys, Adam's old employer, okay? Oh, snap. They're in the chat? No. You can't have him. Oh, oh. It's like a comparison article between the two. And they use a lot of scientific data that Adam used to spend a lot of hours. Too many hours. Hmm. Oh, someone said. Is that good? someone just well this isn't even a question Suresh Rajan said haven't watched Jurassic Park but have watched Jurassic World come on Marquez and I'm gonna watch the new one I'm gonna watch the new one too the new Jurassic World coming out skip the first one I'll watch it eventually it's so easy to watch it that I don't feel rushed you mean the original one yeah I've seen parts of it it's probably streaming on Hubu or Tubi I unironically used Tubi the other day I'm not even kidding it's real Tubi is still real.

20:40I was trying to make one up in my head. Is it on Tubi or not Tubi? They should only do Shakespeare.

20:51I have someone asking what the best budget keyboard is right now. That's all you. Yeah. There's a lot. There's plenty out on Amazon, like Hippiotech will tell you. But the Hippi June R1, I think, or just the Hippi June, you still have to build it and buy all the switches and everything. but it's the most unique cheapest keyboard and out of all the nice ones that I have it's the one I still use every day. So that's my favorite. Sorry, how much was that one? Did you mention it already? Probably when you build everything if you do it very budget focused like 200 bucks. Dang. That's unfortunately budget in this world.

21:31There's some good cheaper ones on there. Magic keyboard. That's what I was going to say. I was definitely going to be like if you're on a budget just... Mariah says, do not watch the new Jurassic Park. It sucks. Oh, she saw it already. Yeah. And it sucks? That sounds like it's right on my alley. I wonder if she saw it in 4DX, though. Because, yeah, Jurassic World. No, I think she wanted to watch the F1 movie in 4DX. I'll be honest. I would love Jurassic Park. I'll be honest. I don't think I can possibly dislike a movie with good dinosaur graphics. With good dinosaur graphics? I think if the CG is really good and the dinosaurs are very realistic, I'll enjoy it no matter what.

22:03Why don't we just bring them back? Well, that's like a whole... plot. We already brought the wolves back. The dire wolves. That was like a whole bad thing that happened in the movie. Have you seen the movie? Yeah, but like, I don't know. It went pretty poorly. We have like tanks and stuff. That's true. I don't think we should be that worried about dinosaurs. Correction, Mariah just messaged me personally and says she did see it in 4D.

22:27I would not think any otherwise. I think she's driving home from vacation right now. Wait, someone just asked, what about the new Sony phone review. Is there a new Sony phone that I should know about? Yeah, it just came out and will actually come to market in seven months. Yeah, several follow-up questions to that. One, what is it and is it actually out or is it not coming out for six months? And two, is it actually good? Do you care about my opinion or are you actually just trolling? You might be trolling. Damn. Xperia 1 7? I would love to do like an actual Sony review. But again, it's just like they announce it and then it comes out like seven months later and it's just kind of confusing.

23:03I give them a shot every time. Every time I see them in my inbox, I go, oh, a new Sony phone. And then literally four out of the last five times I've done a Sony flagship phone review, it starts off with some promise, and they have some interesting things, and then it goes downhill of like, wait, it's how expensive? And they have what as their primary features? And it just kind of falls apart. So I'm rooting for them, but they haven't given me much hope lately. Somebody asked, how did you come up with the name Wave 4? Do you remember this? The name Wave 4? I spoke to you guys in a dream. Yeah, okay, so we, yeah, do you remember exactly?

23:37Yeah, we were thinking of a lot of things that were audio puns in some way. And we actually decided with WVFRM, because it kind of sounds like a radio station. And also, if we, at that point, WVFRM, MKBHD fit on top of each other as the same amount of letters. Then we started with Studio 71, and they were like, podcast searching is terrible. if you're saying Waveform out loud, you should name it Waveform spelled out loud. So that's why you might see WVFRM sometimes and Waveform most of the time because podcast discoverability is terrible. Live from WVFRM Chicago. It kind of sounds cool. 65 degrees and sunny.

24:16Also, we did that mistake with our channels when we were making the video channels. It's like the Waveform podcast and then the WVFRM clips. And it haunts me every day. Alex the Dev, still using ARK? I have a lot to say about this. Are you still using ARK? I am not. I am using a mixture of Chrome and Zen Browser now. A mixture? Interesting. And are you using ARK? I never used them. You never used ARK. Are you still using ARK? That's a complicated question. Okay. I am full-time still using ARK. Yeah. That's my answer. I am primarily still using ARK. I have been testing all of these new browsers that are coming out because there's like all these new - A gazillion - I want to know how you choose because I was on - this is maybe spoiling something, but I'm gonna do it anyway.

25:00I was just hanging out with someone, I won't say who, who has a lot of cars, and I was like, how do you choose which car to drive? And I have the same question about you. You have multiple browsers. Why Zen versus Chrome? Like, what makes you open a certain browser versus the other one? It's the same reason I told you about my cars when we were hanging out. Yeah. So you just wake up feeling, I feel like Zen today. Yeah, no, so the way I split it up is work I use in Chrome because I need all that to work. Okay. And then when I'm doing personal things, I'll use Zen Browser. Okay. So it's kind of location-based too, sort of.

25:34I mean, when I'm at work, I have one browser open. Like personal, I'll just have minimized. So if I ever need to like search something or like email someone, but then work in Chrome, I have working. I'm sort of just like keeping tabs on all of them because I'm trying to see if this AI assistant future that everyone keeps promising actually matters at all or if it's just going to be like a metaverse kind of fad. So I got access to Comet, which is the new perplexity browser. How do you like it? Should we care? It is just DIA. It's not. They're like exactly the same. But is the search better? That's what I want to know.

26:11Well, it's not really search. It's like it just talks to you. I don't know. I might be able to be convinced in the future, but right now it feels like if I'm just talking to my browser, I could just it would be better if I had You just had a tab with JetGPT or something? No, just like Or Gemini Rather what perplexity wants you to do with Comet is they want you to just like it basically has a Google search tab in the center of the page and instead of actually going to websites like they do have an assistant like Dia does on the side when you're actually on web pages but their preferred way of interacting with the browser is just to talk to Comet and it will it'll tell you answers with like little mini sources but they prefer that you like don't even go to web pages it's sort of the thing it's all ai browsers just like the trust me bro just like no no don't look stay here i'm trying to saying is right the the people who are like really into it seem to be really into it but i don't really get it yet and maybe i will at some point and maybe i'm just don't you know but i don't know i but besides that i find myself on arc all the time because i keep trying to like the best feature of arc which is so stupid that it's so useful is just being able to hide the sidebar and then swipe your mouse over and it pops out that's like that's all I want it's all I want add it to dia please also pin tabs and stuff like that and dia still doesn't have that so can I address a question real quick sure Fernando Loza says Ellis what is your battery percentage so I took my phone off the charger at about 8am this morning so that's like 3 and a half hours ago.

27:4860%. Anyone want to take a guess? 60%. Andrew? 47. 47, 42. I was going to say 48. 48. Adam wins. I am at 43 % battery life right now. I know my boy. Is that still a 12 mini or is that a 13 mini? It is a 12 mini and to all the people asking what phone I'm going to get next, I'm holding out till September 2027 to hopefully go straight from 12 mini to folding iPhone. Something tells me this phone is going to explode before that. Oh, uh on mole Batia says I was 26 thoughts so far. I've been testing it. Oh stay tuned. I If this this beta had come out in the winter David you would feel completely differently Because you're you would have a hand warmer wherever you go.

28:36That's true, dude the amount of bugs that I have Recently, oh my god, do you have the YouTube bug where or any video playback bug? It's in YouTube and also Instagram Reels and stuff where you click on it and then the screen goes black but the audio still plays and you have to back out and go back in multiple times. A few times, yeah. This morning, my alarm went off, made no sound. Oh, man. It was lighting up and doing the thing, no sound. I have a couple specific bugs. One of them is the 8 Sleep app when the bed thing is waking me up and I open the 8 Sleep app to dismiss it. That is when it crashes.

29:09So I can open the 8 Sleep app any other time and it's fine. But I have to snooze it by hitting the sensor on the bed, and then the 8 Sleep app will open without crashing. It's very strange. The other one is my keyboard no longer shows the letters above them when I'm typing, which is annoying. Oh. Yeah. Like when you type it and it goes up? Yeah, when the little letter shows up above your finger. They don't show up. Does that matter? Yeah, it's pretty useful when they show up. Marquez, so you're on the beta on your iPhone. Are you also on the beta on your Android phone? On my Pixel, I have the latest Android 16 beta.

29:47And is that the one you're dailying? No. Okay. That was also a little too buggy to daily. Having two daily drivers, both in the development beta, is crazy. I can't. Yeah, I can't daily beta stuff. And even with macOS, because I use Final Cut, I don't put the latest OS on my computer until the first.1 update, because Final Cut will absolutely have too many bugs to use until they update it. Even when it's not on like a development beta, Final Cut is like hit or miss. Yeah. You never know. Yeah. Someone said, how much AI do you use in your daily life? I like. Outside of work? Gemini for like fun.

30:21I don't really trust it because it still kind of lies a lot. So I use like Gemini Live. Gemini Live can be helpful. And even if it's wrong, it leads me in the right direction. So, you know, it's kind of fun to like show it things, but sometimes it's useless. That's pretty much what I do. And I don't use it that frequently either. It's like every few days. Yeah, I use Gemini probably once or twice a day. I don't use it at all. It's not even like necessarily. I just haven't incorporated or found one that I specifically like, so I don't pay for any of them, and therefore I don't. The most AI I see during a day is scrolling past the Google AI overview so I can look at actual links and figure out the real answer.

31:03Fair enough. Also, Big Blue asks, Andrew, are you still using Google Tasks? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Wait, can I see? He's deep in. Whoa. I have a question because I can now see how many tasks I've completed. You are. I don't like that feature. You don't? I don't really understand. Count. I also don't like it. You don't like how many you've completed? It's just always there. It's persistent forever. It's just there at the bottom. I've been using this app for 12 years. I guess I'm always using it in the widget, so I don't always see it unless I'm in it. But does that show? So that doesn't show reoccurring ones, right?

31:37I'm almost at 500 completed tasks someone says who is the tallest in the room and I have to I'm not insecure first off I'm not insecure but everyone in this room is taller than me and I'm like slightly taller than average height I'm 5 '10 and a half and the US average male height is 5 '9 these men are too tall it's annoying I've completed 15 ,767 tasks since I started. I'm not insecure. Allegedly. So I think Marquez is the tallest in the room right now. Is he taller than that? Oh, yeah. No, no, yeah. I think. Pretty close. Because Andrew, I think you and I are about the same height. Yeah, Marquez probably has like an inch on me.

32:21But Alex probably has an inch on Marquez. Alex is the tallest one in the studio. I think it's really funny because I, like as a universal reaction to meeting Marquez, they're like, he's so much taller. That is the number one most common comment that I get in real life is, you're taller than I expected. When we go to CES, I used to be able to find you easily because I could see over the majority of the floor and just find Marquez. But at the same time, that means everybody always sees where Marquez is on the floor. This is true. Someone told me once after meeting me and being like, wow, you're a lot taller than I thought.

32:57They were like, you know, on the podcast, you give really short guy energy. interesting and what does that mean yeah hey buddy watch it wow as a true said i've completed 29 ,989 tasks on todoist that's okay wait i have a question about this now that we're down to is it one of your tasks yeah drive to work every day no it's a calendar event it's a calendar event totally different okay my question is you guys don't clear that out you just leave it there what what i every time i complete a task i hate seeing it on the bottom no yeah i always go in and like remove it. I had to go into the settings to look at my account to see how many I'd completed.

33:36Oh, okay. So it keeps them forever? Yeah, it's got this whole organization that shows you which day of the week you're most productive and like how many times you miss. Oh, to-do-us. This is TickTick for me. Oh, TickTick. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. I was thinking Google Tasks. I was like, where is that? Oh, no, no, no, no. Tasks is a sort of baseline functionality. 36:02Wait, what? You can't say that. Elmo got hacked yesterday. He got hacked. He said some stuff. He said some bad things. That's not what I thought. I was just going to say goat. I love Elmo, but yeah, his Twitter got hacked. Okay, I did not see that. F1 movie was great. Okay, people, oh, the studio. The studio is saying F1 movie was great. Have other people seen the F1 movie? No. No. My friend texted me on Sunday of Silverstone and said, did you see F1? And I was like, yeah, that was such a sick race. One of the best ones I've seen. He's like, no, the movie. And I was like, I don't want to talk about that right now.

36:37Dang. I've not seen it yet. I may watch it soon. Gizmo Sauce wants to know, what's everyone's favorite cheese? I knew Ellis was gonna find this question. So for those that don't know, there's been many a cheese-related argument in the studio about blue cheese's efficacy, about whether stinky cheese is good, period, about whether certain cheeses belong on burgers. This is like a pretty common lunchtime argument for us. I think the last one was, what is your Mount Rushmore of cheese? Yeah, yeah. That was a long conversation. Mount Rushmore. That's four, right? Yeah. No, wait. The Mount Rushmore conversation was about nuts.

37:11It was what was your - No, it was about cheese. Was it? Pine nuts. Up there. Pine nuts are definitely up there. Pine nuts on pizza. Crazy take. What? Dude. Whoa. Hear me out. Wait, Marquez, you don't like pine nuts? Olive oil, pine nuts, pizza. Hey, everybody, this guy doesn't like pesto. Yeah, pesto too. Pesto with pine nuts is like. How about, well, I was going to do cheese. Cheese. Are you doing Rushmore or just favorite cheese? I guess. Rushmore is a lot. Rushmore is a lot of thinking. Rushmore, and you have to compare each cheese to one of the presidents. I think I'm going just basic mozzarella.

37:46It has to be on your Mount Rushmore. If it's not, I don't know what your list is. Low moisture or high moisture? High moisture. High as hell. Throw it on a sandwich. It's versatile. you can take it down, put it on a chicken parm or whatever. I like just mozzarella as a solid. But parm is Parmesan. Yeah, but you put mozzarella on it too. It is just several types of cheese. Maybe I'm a bit weird with the mozzarella and Parmesan. No, that's what a chicken parm is. Yeah, if they can do four cheese mixes. Oh, pepper jack. Wow, great point. Okay, I'm changing my list. I love pepper jack. Pepper jack and mozzarella are 1A and 1B for me.

38:18Where you add on Swiss. That's fine. Okay. It's not necessarily. It's a good mix of cheese. That's a fair take. I just like that it has holes. I like provolone. I want to just get past it. Provolone is fire. Provolone, I think, is my top, but it's really hard to not put American in. Everyone's going to hate on American, but the primo melty cheese. Yeah, the primo melty cheese. Also, the American variants, like Cooper Sharp. That's a man's cheese right there. Also, Marquez, if you like mozzarella on your Parmi, you know, pasta bake stuff, let me recommend Fontina for you. Oh, I've had that. I could see you really, really enjoying a big slice of fontina.

38:54He loves feta. No, I do not like crumbly cheeses at all. Yeah, it's because he hates the fetaverse. That's tough for me because the fetaverse is pretty cool, but feta is bad. Blue cheese is trash also. What is feta rated for you? Brie can just, if it never existed, I'd be totally fine. What's your feta rating? Feta? Yeah, your feta rating. Am I feta rating? You're making a weird pun right now. I don't know what's happening. But I want to know where it is on your list. Your Feta rating. Oh, brother. This guy stinks. Someone said favorite podcast episode, but I don't know if they mean out of ours or like other podcasts.

39:33I think they did mean out of ours. Out of ours. Or I saw someone else ask her. I think Sacred History. No, I Can episode. But that's because Ellis and Adam and I got to drive to Virginia and stay in a small hotel. That's true. Oh, wow. Someone just said, my name is Marquez, so I should like queso. Duh. Oh. Nice. Also, Claire just texted me and said, I'd listen to this podcast more consistently if there was cheese conversations every week. I feel like we have them fairly frequently. She needs to tune in. My favorite podcast episode was whichever one had the infamous egg argument in it. What the?

40:06It's a frittata. I was missing that week, and I watched that episode, and I was like, what the heck is going on? Yeah. Sometimes we just go off the res a little bit. That's fine. Marcus have you had a frittata since engaging that argument uh I don't think so yeah okay um someone asked if I've tried the new telegram to-do list feature which I did not know existed I'm very excited about I also have to tell you um Becca Versace friend of the show uh she had a problematic fave powerpoint presentation party at her apartment a few weeks ago and my presentation was telegram problematic fave problematic fave it's like because the thing you love even though it's kind of problematic it gets used in problematic ways my my new neighbor works at signal and when they told me like cocotte it's i pronounced it wrong on that episode it's cocotte but when my new neighbor was like oh yeah i work at signal i had to pause for a second and i just asked them i was like that is that is that the evil one or is that i mean they do have houthi war plans so all right chang du says marquez's favorite ev i might also have to go mount rushmore because there's no top top like favorite i've ever driven i think is the lucid air sapphire just overall capability range performance suspension it's like a dining room built into a missile it's incredible it's a luxury experience on top of a missile yeah it's awesome um but you know if you need a truck then i'm thinking rivian r1t but if you need a sports car.

41:45There's not that many EV. I mean, Ionic 5A is fire. Porsche Taycan. Taycan, sick. I still haven't gotten to drive the Taycan Turbo GT, which Miles got to review. I'm very curious about that, but I think it's probably awesome. And then, what was the other one? You just mentioned a different one. Fiskor Ocean. It was a different EV. I guess I'll, whatever. Which I see a lot of Fiskor Oceans. I've started seeing even more. Yeah, car, sedan, truck. Yeah, I think that's probably it. Didn't you like the EV6 a lot? I like the EV6 GT. It's not, like, buyable. I mean, you can. It's fine. It has trash range, but it is really fun.

42:26Yeah. Someone asked my favorite cameras or dream cameras. I personally right now think, still, for now, that the X1006 is the best camera, best digital camera ever made. What? Best digital camera ever made. I can't help but think this is a bit of a hot take. I love it. You're crazy. Have you ever used a T3i? Wait. Okay, David. Let me dig into this a little bit. Objectively the best or your favorite ever? Because there's a difference. Yes. Okay. Because objectively there are cameras that are better. Isn't this your joke, David? Objectively, it's the Hasselblad. let's just take the Hasselblad X2D for example interchangeable lenses larger sensor more megapixels more detail better color faster better color no sorry interesting I don't know the X106 I've been thinking about this a lot because I did a review of the X106 after I had the X106 for four years and the 6 is like it has a few minor upgrades and at first I was like yeah you know but now I'm like oh yeah I know it's like it is like so much but the the ibis is really good the 40 megapixel sensor it's bsi now everything about it do you ever wish it was interchangeable lenses no do you ever wish i have i could take an ultra wide well i have i have two lens adapters for it so they fuji makes these adapters that turns it into a 28 millimeter and a 50 millimeter 20 and 50 and it's 40 megapixel sensor so you can also crop in yeah yeah yeah it's but if you had a 70 to 200 on there bang so then it would be this big yeah Well, you know what they say the best cameras on you have with you.

44:06No, it's not iPhone 12 mini This is embarrassing but over the fourth of July break I Day-lead a Sony a7 for the first time After being a longtime Sony camera hater They seven one is pretty legendary that camera I had a a7r mark 3 and bro. Yeah, I know it's like there's faster burst modes now but on the first day I took 15 gigabytes of stills because I just I was just only like 15 gigs yeah I think the best uh best film camera is the Fuji TX one okay we're done all right we don't have all right favorite Taco Bell item oh I mean cheesy cheese potatoes oh good choice thank you have you done the spicy potato soft taco no is that new next time no it's been around forever it's just like a cheap thing that nobody sees for me Taco Bell is like the first four generations of Pokemon you know perfect like I don't know anything after that because that's when I stopped talk about the last time I ordered talk about really it was like 15 years ago so I don't know any of the new items would you like 15 years ago I mean the the circular thing was amazing the Mexican pizza or the contrast supreme I think is supreme but I also used to love the seven layer burrito okay because i was vegetarian for like 10 years do you have one alice of course of course i have one i i know there's so many good wild things on the menu you know what i mean but the thing that 100 of the time just like puts a smile on my face is the i forget do they call it supreme or deluxe the supreme the doritos locos taco supreme with the sour cream no dude but do a cheesy gordina crunch with doritos they're speaking another language you can do that You can make the inside of the Gorilla Doritos shelf.

45:58Then that is my favorite. I can't pick. I love all my children the same. But actually, it's okay. I'm going to do a couple of rapid fire ones. Marquez, when is the Samsung Unpacked review upload? Already happened. Check the channel. Adam, I love your tattoos. Can you show them? I mean, I guess. This is going to be very weird for audio listeners. I want to tell a story about Adam's tattoos. Okay. Because so when I moved to New York to take this job Adam and I were neighbors I moved into the same neighborhood in Brooklyn as Adam And so for the first like year of me working here Adam and I would carpool to work every single day It was super duper fun.

46:39We hung out so much But it was the kind of thing where Adam and I like I had just met Adam and now we're carpooling every single day Like we had no prior relationship or friendship I learned a lot about you on those rides. So I'm sitting shotgun with this dude. Adam had sort of really short, buzz-cutty sort of hair at the time. He's got tattoos all over his arm. Grew up in New York. I'm like, damn, this dude's hard. This dude is a real fucking guy next to me. And then finally I'm like, yo, what's that tattoo? Asking about his sleeve. And he's like, oh, the whole arm is Harry Potter tattoos. And I was like, oh, this guy's a big softy.

47:19amazing yeah it's all it's a harry potter sleeve yeah but what if he was really into voldemort then he wouldn't be a softy yeah what if he had the dark mark yeah i debated it i debated the dark mark but i did not get it yeah i have a dark mark on my lower back and we'll move on from that it's just a natural thing no one ever asked about my tattoo you have one yeah do you want them too? I'm surprised you didn't know I had a tattoo. Ellis, tell us about your tattoo. Marquez in the chat says, Ellis, tell us about your tattoo. That'll be at episode 600. Oh, all right. Marquez, that'll be episode 600.

47:58Yeah. I looked at that. I would just be turning 40 for episode 600 probably. I know. Miss Queen says, will there be a segment where they answer questions from the audience? There's been a few audio questions. Can I rapid fire those real quick? Sure. Alright, what's the best way to get into audio? Buy a cable, an SM7B, and a Focusrite 2i2 and record literally everything and then just make it better every time. Why did we ditch the Tascam Model 12? Because it had this weird bug where if you accidentally overwrote an existing recording on there, the clock would get weird and you couldn't sync anything and it made Adam's life really difficult.

48:36Also, now we have the Sonic View 16, this absolute beast of a board. I can barely see you back there behind that thing oh my gosh no but I think that's where all the audio questions someone did say what degree do you have because you were asking I have a degree that sounds made up from a school that doesn't exist anymore I have a bachelor of science in music comma business comma entrepreneurship and technology business is not science Alice I know neither is entrepreneurship or technology technology is very science yeah well the joke is that every year they would change whether there was that first comma there so some years it was music business and the others years it was music comma business but why would you need comma business when the next word is entrepreneurship doesn't make any sense to me anyway the school is called the university of the arts and uh it spectacularly exploded last year not with like a literal explosion oh geez i thought that was bad no no no it was pretty amazing though it was like the the the president or ceo or whoever the highest person at the school just emailed everyone and was essentially like friday we're done teachers you're fired students transfer peace dang that's what i would like drop my mic drop yeah so that's my life it's pretty good onto seb says any chance of getting a xiaomi su7 for review i do want to i've been working on that also i saw people asking about the model y i've also been working on that So both of those are on the list.

50:06We want to check those out. Someone asks, how has Ultimate Frisbee been this year? Can we get an update? And also, what is the next Google product that you think will get killed? So Ultimate's been going well. I will be telling people more about Ultimate this year in an upcoming video because there's going to be a lot more of it this summer. The next product that Google will kill is, I feel bad speaking this into existence, but it's probably Google Chat. is that even that's called sorry no talk is what it's called right now and it exists still it's called google chat no google talk still exists no it doesn't it's inside of gmail it's chat is it called chat now i believe so so it was formerly talk but they use it for enterprise so i don't think it'll ever go away then it's probably tasks or keep i'm done with tasks going away just keep it whoever said i give off five seven energy uh keep that to yourself man oh no No, they meant in centimeters.

51:05Oh, wait, that's even shorter. Someone said Hangouts, Google Keep, Google Drive. Yeah, let's see what you guys think Google's killing next. Easy. Pixel tablet, they say. Okay, somebody's been asking this a hundred times. Favorite Pringle flavor? Ooh, so I just tried the Miller Lite beer brat ones. No way. I'm excited for that. They have that? Yeah, they're fine, they're like not great. Here's the thing with Pringles, right? For years, for years, I sat there with my hand halfway down a tube just praying that one day they would release a spicy pringle because i love hot chip and for years there were no spicy pringles and then they did now you can get spicy pringles and it turns out they're not that good actually that's like a chip form factor that never needed to be spicy so i'm gonna have to go with oh wait this is actually insane are you ready day to day out on the town sour cream and onion same okay with my coffee in the morning You eat chips in the morning?

52:03Only out of a can. I think a cup of black coffee and a mini can of cheddar cheese Pringles is like such an awesome combination. Cheddar sour cream or just cheddar cheese? No, no, the orange ones. This is how I know you lived in Philadelphia. I think you're thinking of Ruffles. Those are the cheddar sour cream. No. In Philadelphia, you can get... It's the chip form chip cast now. But in Philadelphia, You can get a hers kettle cooked chips that is cheddar and a horseradish. Oh, that's so good They're so horseradishy like your nose will run by the time you're done with the bag. It's amazing All right, I'm team pizza Because they put a little dried basil in it.

52:46There's like just a hint of herbaceousness that it's so Gets the Italian in me. It's so good Can I pick Zuri up? It's Zuri time. So those of you that were in the chat before the episode may have seen my dog foreshadow. And there is a dog right here, although I have no idea how we'll get her elevated. You should take the headphones off if you're going to pick her up. Underneath her arms, her front paws. We're orchestrating. I wonder if you could just put her on the chair. Every time we put a dog in a spinny chair, it never goes very well. Someone asked if I was going to start a camera channel and I need to know if I should or if I should just not.

53:29Alright, chat. Wait, we haven't said chat yet. Do I start a separate camera channel or do I put it all on my camera channel? Oh, that's the question. I think you keep it all on the same channel. You think so? I personally think so. We'll see what chat says. And then you can decide if you trust me or 5 ,000 random people on the internet more. Fair enough. I tried to pick her up and then she's just turned into a Matt. Oh my god favorite technology connections video This I feel like this is targeted towards me exactly. I've watched them all too My favorite technologies connection. Well, I think this this the RC a CED Series is really really good, but the one that like really changed my life The first time I saw it is the one called there's magic inside your VCR Mmm.

54:13I've watched that and then immediately scoured the curbs of Philadelphia until I found a VCR Wait, that was the first time you bought a VCR? Yeah, I mean, I was doing a lot of cassette stuff at the time. Like, I was taking apart a lot of cassette decks and repairing them and, like, fixing the belts and stuff. And so I thought I understood how a VCR worked. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I gotta mess around with this. And then I realized VCRs are way too complicated for your boy to repair. Yeah. Meaningfully. I've done, like, small repairs. Yeah. Okay. Andrew versus Ellis cage match. I've seen that a bunch.

54:47That's not even a question. My knees have been hurting pretty bad lately. I think you've kind of... Really? Okay. I don't know. And you guys weigh in on this, because pros versus cons, I feel like I might have a little bit of reach on you, right? I think so. And your knees are not very good. What martial art are you trying to do? Like, this is like... This is a street fight. It's a cage match. Yeah. Whatever's legal, it's a cage. Oh. I think... Then just strength. Yeah, I think you're way stronger than me. I also think you could take a decent amount more of a beating than I could. I have a decent pain tolerance because I've hurt myself way too many times.

55:23Yeah, exactly. I think I would get hit in the face once and rethink everything. All right. Next studio video. Wait, I want to talk about fighting more. Someone wants to know everyone's astrological signs. Okay. Cancer. Why? I know mine. I'm a pixel. I know it. That's all I know. Yeah, I'm a Sagittarius. That's it. Cancer. Gatorade. That'd be a sick sign. What flavor? Wait, that would be awesome. If it was just like Pisces, Sagittarius, Gatorade. That's like one of the coolest. What flavor, Gatorade? Mountain Dew. What's your birthday, David? April 25th. Astrological. I could just tell you. Oh, you know it?

56:03You're a Taurus. A Taurus. I thought you were going to say Gemini, which would be crazy. That would be crazy. Why would that be crazy? Because we were just talking about Gemini before. Is anyone in here a Gemini? No. Good. No, no Geminis. I do. I love my Gemini. That's like a really Gemini thing of you to say, Ellis. Someone says, do you miss anything about your Model S Plaid? Could have Grock right now. Yeah, that's a great question. Oh, someone says they're Gatorade too. The only thing that I really miss is the ability to truly go drive itself in traffic. If it was bumper-to-bumper traffic and I just wanted to sit back and stretch my legs, it would drive itself.

56:43That's basically it. Yeah. Front trunk is the same. Yeah, that's pretty close. That's about it. Someone said, what's everyone's video game platform preference? PS5.

56:56I'm sacrilegious. I basically only play Dota 2, and I play it on my MacBook Pro. Oh, my goodness. That is a psycho answer. I get 120 FPS on 3 Macs. Even I know that's a crazy answer. No, come on. What's wrong with it? I mean, it has random horrible bugs, but besides that, I think it's fine. I also really like the, I've been using a lot of emulator devices recently. They're really fun. Just like little, I have a Game Boy Advance SP one and I've been playing Pokemon Pinball Ruby Sapphire, which I had when I was a kid and it's freaking great. I just keep pausing it and there's like such unhinged questions.

57:29I don't like what. Someone says, do you have a mortgage? Do any of you speak a second language? Yeah. Do you speak a second language? Ellis' personality does not, is this about my height again? You can't keep baiting them. What do you speak? If it's not... Yeah, Deutsch. Deutsch? Yeah. I can kind of understand some Spanish, but I don't really speak it fluently. Deutsch is German. No, I'm just saying. That's my answer. Oh, got it. Yeah, I know. What else did they say? They speak, yeah. Oh, am I going to get a dog? I don't think I'm going to get a dog as long as I have access to dogs. That's how I feel about cats, you know?

58:09I had cats, and then they peed on my bed six times. and then I, well, I was, okay, to be clear, I was fostering them. I didn't return them. They got adopted. But now I'm like, you know, I could go with not Pete on bed. That'd be good. But I do love cats. They're the best. I definitely have the brain worm that the cat gives you. Someone said, Marquez, when you reviewed your car, you said it was a nine out of 10 of everything, but what is the nine out of 10 of everything in EVs? I think, and they said not a Tesla, but the answer is a Lucid Air Sapphire. It's actually a 10 out of 10 in acceleration, but it's nine out of 10 in everything else.

58:40Not the Hummer EV? How dare you? The Hummer EV is something special. You know what's crazy? I can say this even though the video's not out yet. I'm currently testing the Cadillac Escalade IQ right now. I can't beep that. So it's live now. Yeah, it's out there. And the autofocus video is coming up. But this thing is, I think the title has to be like, this is a living room on wheels. Because it's basically, this is a 200 kilowatt hour battery. It's 9 ,000 pounds. It's longer than an F-150. It has three rows. It has all the storage, all the materials. And I plugged it in. Actually, when we first got it, it had 92 % battery left, and it was reading 450 miles of range.

59:26That's a lot. That's crazy. I haven't seen 450 miles of range in years. I don't think any other than the Lucids. I don't think I've seen 400 plus in real world range. So shout out to the 200 kilowatt hour battery underneath that living room on wheels. That thing is crazy. Interesting. Yeah. Can I I just want to say something about that. You know what I mean? Because frankly Cadillac Shame on you just make a smaller less heavy car. Well, they do they make the optic Which is the smallest one and then make the lyric and I was just thinking as I passed by a lyric this morning This is the mega lyric.

59:58This is the mega like It's huge. Why can't we just make a blimp if you want to make something that big make it really slow and up in the air Where it can't hurt anybody. Yeah, it is. I'm also to everyone commenting about the audio thing I think our internet is having a little bit of a day today. All right. Well, we'll probably go 10, 15 more minutes. Should we go? How should we end this? Just rapid fire answering questions? Yes. I'm trying to start some sort of argument, man. We had such a good argument during the test stream. With cheese? Someone said something that I felt really stupid about.

1:00:30That trivia question about the things that IO could mean. There's literally a character in Dota 2 called IO. Wow. I can't believe I didn't find that. Yeah. Dang. Wow. I mean, I never play him, so. Oh. Yeah, he's a floating orb. That's it. He's the O. Is IO OP? Is IO OP? IO has been OP in previous metas, yeah. Not currently OP. Yeah. Wait, I don't think we ever... Andrew, what's your gaming platform of choice? Did you ever answer that? Probably computer. For a very long time, it was Xbox. What's a computer? What's a computer? Sorry, I had to. It's just an iPad. A reflex. When people say computer, it just reflects it.

1:01:08Everything's computer. Someone says, do I do wedding engagement photos? Yeah. Hit me up. I have an email address. Maria Smith. Marquez, how much longer do you see yourself playing Ultimate for? I don't know. Until I can't. Until I literally can't. And then I get to steal them for disc golf finally. Then I just switch full time to golf golf, I think. No, no. I think. What if it was a little like both? The problem is I'm already like decent at golf, so it would be like a hard learning curve to get that good at disc golf. I could be swayed. I could try it. I'll try it. But, you know, golf, golf. Someone says, what's your hottest?

1:01:44I'm convinced that Marquez is just going to retire and become a coach. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That's my lord for you. So I've thought about that. I have the – I go on and off with, like, do I have the brain to be a coach? I was a captain of my college team. That kind of felt like coaching because there's a lot of beginners on the team. I've done some clinics where, like, I go back to my old high school and talk to the kids who are already pretty good and sort of give them fundamental advice on playing better. But coaching a team is like X's and O's on the field against an opponent, and I'm not as fully in tune with, like, I don't do scouting that much.

1:02:22I'm very much an individual scout on, like, here's how to guard this one player and how I'll maximize it. But the whole team thing is I don't have that visionary ability yet. Marquez, I think you're going to get into tennis after Ultimate. I have tried tennis once before. I think I was really bad at it. I know, I know. But just seeing how good your specific brain is for ping pong, I think you're going to watch one tennis tournament and see what those guys are doing and be like, oh, I'm kind of interested in that. That's hard on the knees, though, isn't it? It is, but also people regularly play tennis into their 60s.

1:03:00It's harder on your elbow. but if you do you know you're you're in shape you know what to do you got it i'm gonna i'm gonna want to use my cardio in some way because golf does not use my cardio my look my mother still up there in age still playing four days a week of tennis what and is like pickleball on her radar or is she just like i'm not gonna speak for my mom yeah but i don't think she would ever get even close to that's that's what i hear from tennis players yeah yeah avoiding your unfinished home projects because you're not sure where to start? 1:05:12Hot tech take for the year? I assume it would be like If the Nothing Phone 3 was $4.99 it would be universally accepted over this design coldest take possible no i think the design is like easy to make fun of because it's expensive but i think if it was 499 if it was a good phone for money people would ignore the design i don't think that many people are making fun of the i think there's people making fun of the design a little bit but most people are on the true mad is not a hot enough take then my hottest tactic is that apple is like in it's not good era right now that's it's like on its way out I totally agree.

1:05:51What kind of not good? Like, it feels sort of like a dip for the company where none of their design decisions seem to be making a lot of sense. Like, even with Liquid Glass, they've already scaled it back to the point where it's so different. And it feels like there's not cohesive leadership at the design level. And, yeah. Would you say they've lost... I feel like they're in a dip right now. Lost their plot? Their aura a little bit? Yeah, I mean, it just feels like they got forced to get sidetracked with all the AI stuff because of their stock price and then they eventually they realized they didn't necessarily like really have to do that so this year they went back to like just machine learning stuff which is good but with the design stuff without without Johnny Iver like you know and I'm glad we got the thick MacBooks again so huge that's good but um yeah I don't know it just sort of feels like they're just making a lot of really bad product decisions right now and it feels like they're in their dip era right now dip era i agree with i don't think they're not like on the way out no they're not on the way they're definitely just having a tough two years for sure and it's so much weirder because they're usually yeah i have a tech take but it's pretty hot so maybe let's do it let's do it it's pretty hot i think i think it's sort of a two-part take the first part is that we've sort of gone over this crest in tech right now where it feels like getting VC funding as a tech company is more important than getting customer sales.

1:07:24In a lot of places it is. And for that reason, more and more companies are quote-unquote pivoting to AI. And my actual hot take is that the quickest way a tech company can ruin their brand image, possibly forever is by publicly pivoting to ai and i get that in our circle it's like oh like notion has an ai now like oh this has an ai now oh the dominoes app pizza ai i don't think that exists but among probably does among my non-tech friends i now know five or six people who as soon as an app they like is like check out our new chatbot check out our new ai instant delete cancel subscription, get it out.

1:08:14Because none of these products work. I mean, look, I use Claude. Claude sort of works, but I would still give it only a 30 % success rate every time it's queried for giving me something that's useful. So yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say it. If you're thinking about pivoting your company to AI, you will probably make money in the long run, but everyone will hate you. Domino's does use it. All right. I am now officially a Papa John. No, I live in New York. You guys know about Papa Murphy's? What is Papa Murphy's? It's called Take and Bake Pizza. This is a NorCal thing. Oh, this is the one where like you, yeah.

1:08:52Yeah, so basically you go in, they make the pizza for you, but they don't cook it. And then you bring it home and you cook it yourself. That's kind of cute. Except you need a real solid oven. And it's still not good pizza, to be clear. We're a stone. It's not that good, but it is better than like hot pizza. Well, it's already not good pizza. It's better than Papa John's. It's way better pizza than like Papa John's. It is kind of shocking how much better a pizza can come out of your oven when you just put a rock in there with it. It is like fascinating. Like you've ever made like a DiGiorno's rising crust frozen pizza but put a pizza stone in your oven or better yet, Andrew, do you have a three rack oven?

1:09:32You ever use two pizza stones, one on top, one on bottom? I also have a pizza oven. Oh, I'm Andrew. I have a backyard with a pizza oven in it. Yeah, I live in a cellar. I think my tech take, so... Oh, wait, David, you literally live in a cellar. I live in a cellar. It's better than the Rattlesnake Den, but... David, when you say I live in a cellar, I'm just picturing you behind a cage with a sleeping guard and keys dangling out of his pocket. You're desperately trying to convince a dog to go... Or he has a stick trying to get the keys off his sleeping belt. Did I stutter? okay okay so tech take i think android is going to be the cool one again that's something i've been working on all year again yeah well i guess for the first time that's fair it was cool to me it was cool to me for i think android was cool for a while and then the whole blue bubble thing made imes is just like the far and away leader and apple the far and away leader in the u.s yeah no in the u.s well even yeah i'll stick it just i did have a normie friend tell me yesterday because she was thinking about switching to the Fairphone 6, which was like crazy.

1:10:37That's not a normie. She heard about Fairphone because she wanted to be more fair to the world, I guess, or something. And I was like, oh, there's a new one coming out. I told her about it. And I was like, but you know, you have to get off iMessage. And she's like, yeah. I mean, I kind of think that green bubbles are kind of like counterculture rebellious now. And I was like, oh. That's what I mean. I think the pendulum swing is coming back for the green bubbles next. Pendulum swing. Ellis reacted thumbs down. Texting people that. Okay, sheeple. Okay, we got a couple bangers in a row. One of them was DN says, what do you think about the Roadster?

1:11:14Are you still getting one for free? No one has any idea. There was a random Elon tweet recently. Oh, I saw that. Just saw the coolest tech demo in the design studio. And people tagged me about it. Like, what do you think, Marques? And I was like, are we really going to react to a tweet about a teaser, about a demo, about a product that's still not out? I got nothing to say. The other one was, what's your Wawa order? Oh. That's a comment. That's not a Slack message. It's a real comment. So, underscore yo. Are we ordering Wawa? No, this is a real comment. I think they were. Wawa's already ordered.

1:11:45Wawa's already ordered, but also people in the chat want to know what your Wawa order is. Okay. So, did you order Wawa today? I didn't, but I can't. You should ask someone if you can still order Wawa. Don't go hungry. That was this morning. I am hungry. I thought they were - I think they did it at like 11. We have a Wawa - He said orders closed an hour ago. Yeah, we have a Wawa orders Slack channel. 11 a.m. Okay, my order is I like the honey smoked turkey shorty with mustard and everything else. That's a sandwich, by the way. Oh, the hoagies, yeah. And shorty means small. Small, small size. Small sandwich.

1:12:20I get everything on it, though. Like every ingredient. right now italian sub with provolone lettuce uh hot peppers old bay oil vinegar extra of that and then right now there's these like uh crispy pickle chips that you can put on it fantastic that's nice nice they never put enough oil and vinegar on though i want the bun to be soaking in oil and vinegar yes y 'all want to give your that sounds disgusting Just the lukewarm, soggy panini from Wawa is usually what I get. I change it up a lot when I'm getting a hoagie, but when it's raining outside, what I do is I get the ham and cheese panini with cheddar and pickles, so it's kind of like a grilled cheese.

1:13:09Maybe a little garlic aioli on that, and then I get a side of tomato bisque, and I hit it with that dip dip dip. That bread and the tomato bisque is good. So good. I'm sorry, Marquez. I just, I won't dive into it. But ever since you brought up that Roadster thing, it's like the Tesla expanded universe has strayed so far from an affordable sports car. They put out an AI girlfriend yesterday. It's like, where? It's definitely not an affordable sports car. Well, wasn't the point originally, though, supposed to be like... For the Roadster? Context. Yeah. Yeah, well, yeah. Context is for the performance that they promised is relatively affordable because they're matching a$2 million car with a$200 ,000 car.

1:13:51Right. But it's not out. No, and it's never going to come out because they're not working on it because they're too busy doing whatever it is they were put out yesterday. Yeah, they're working on other things. Someone said favorite app of 2025. So it had to come out or just be out? I think it had to have come out this year. I really like onion rings, but mozzarella sticks are climbing up the ranks. Are you using anything more this year than you used before? um that's a good question i would say pokemon training card game pocket i'm still playing um i don't play games like almost ever and but bellatro and pokemon training card game pocket now are the first two games i've like ever had on my phone and i'm very addicted to both of them and i don't like that coinbase has sent me notification every day for like the last five days because bitcoin's hitting a new high every five days so there's that uh i have this is not not financial advice.

1:14:46Speaking of a teaser, somebody asked about the Tesla RoboTaxi thing, and I have the Tesla RoboTaxi app here on my phone, so there's a little teaser. Why would you have that, Marquez? Yeah, you know, just testing. I'm just testing it out. Here's a new area that they're doing services in. Did they do that on purpose? Yes, of course they did. I hate everything. But also, yeah. No, I don't have any app of the year for me so far, I don't think. Actually, no, I won't shut that out. That's cool. I don't even know what he's talking about. I don't think I use any apps that are new this year. I think Udisk is like my most fun app that I, just for Discord.

1:15:25I'm really digging the Brooklyn Public Library app. Oh, yeah. What do you do in that? Public, what do you do in that? Yeah. It has two main, like, so you can browse the catalog, which is really useful. That's sick. You can place holds on audiobooks, ebooks, or physical books. And then you can also read the e-books in the app in a built-in reader. And look, I'm not going to be like, this is a phenomenal app. But I will say, for an app that is run by a city, it is so good. Like, never crashes. The bar is low, but that is pretty good. Very responsive UI. Everything works. Easy sign-in. Feels secure, I would assume.

1:16:05It's my library card, so it's like, I shouldn't say that. It probably is. Hopefully it's your library card. Yeah, but now everyone is going to try to hack into my Brooklyn Public Library account. I don't think my public library has an app, so that's pretty cool. Really? I think you'd be surprised. Marquez, do you have a library card? I'll check. Not anymore. I have one from my hometown, but I haven't. Yeah, it's been a while. Everyone take out your library cards. Do it. I have the Where the Wild Things Are one. Oh, yeah, that's a good one. That's my favorite thing about the Brooklyn Public Library app is my card is in it.

1:16:38I don't need to carry it around physically. You're not a card-carrying member. Did you know Costco does the same thing? Oh, yeah. I have it on Costco, but I change phones too many times, so I got locked out. Yeah, I went to Costco the other day, and I realized walking in that I forgot my card, and they were like, you can just log in on the app. And I was like, duh, obviously. We're still at 5K viewers, by the way. That's pretty – usually they, like, peak up and taper off, but everyone's staying strong. I think we have, like – I think it's kind of a random midday on a Tuesday, you know, people just hanging out.

1:17:09Should we do, like – I have one app. it's not new but it's one that I found recently and has been like a lifesaver and it's just local send so it's basically airdrop between like any device and it's been super useful send local send that's amazing jalapeno poppers because it's like chili reyeno but you can eat a lot of them so chili reyeno is amazing yeah that's why jalapeno poppers rule they do rule except for when they like burn your mouth and it's like squirt all over your shirt that's true that happens every time. That sounds terrible. That's the worst. I'm hungry. Do you want to do like two more questions?

1:17:45Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I probably should have had a question ready when I said that. Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. Have you ever heard of Yandex, guys? It's like the Google of Central Asia. Yes, not only have I, but I took a ride in a Yandex self-driving car at CES years ago. Check that one out. Little throwback video for you. I remember that. Someone asked what our favorite Spongebob memes are. Oh, brother. That one's excellent. What's the one where he's like camera blurred like this? Is that Mr. Krabs? The reason I love that is because one time I was doing a Fall Guys stream and Ellis was watching and I knocked my webcam and it paused to me being like that and Ellis screenshotted it and sent it to me as the meme.

1:18:34There's so many good ones. So many good ones. Can I tell the story of when you were streaming Valorant, I think? And you didn't know my Twitch account. And so I just started commenting, begging you to come visit a fan in Utah. My favorite SpongeBob meme is the sound, the stinky sound. So much so that when someone sends me a text I don't like or like they bail on plans or something like that, I'll just send a YouTube link to like the...

1:19:06I think mine is Mr. Krabs I have an idea Pretty good So I said Marquez did you switch to your iPhone again I've literally used two phones Since the beginning of time I have an iPhone in one pocket and an Android phone in the other pocket There are cave things about it It's crazy how in the Big Bang happened The first atoms to be pulled together Into solid matter formed A Samsung and an iPhone and they were in Marquez's pocket would you have wait which nevermind Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra iPhone 16 Pro got it right good looking out though did we just break and bark dude if the hypothetical folding iPhone had a built in an A pen brother Apple pen I would be so is that what the S stands for oh my god wait what I just assumed it was the same as Galaxy S Like it was super.

1:20:03The S pen? Yeah. Samsung pen? Is it Samsung pen or super pen? I think it's just Galaxy S pen. But the S. I'm asking ChatGPT. The S does not stand for Samsung in Galaxy S. I know. The S stands for Weezy F baby. Super. ChatGPT says the S doesn't have an official meaning. Well, that's literally wrong. But it's widely believed to stand for Samsung. As in Samsung pen. That's double wrong. It's wrong both times. It does stand for something and it stands for super. It does stand for super. Wow. ChatGPT just didn't. That's what, okay, this is what I'm saying. They're wrong almost every time. And I think we don't realize it because we all make the mistake of assuming that they're correct.

1:20:43But it's like, it was wrong when I asked it about what the state abbreviation for Iowa was. Hey, where did you find super? It was wrong. Did we? Smash Bros, man. I'm on the Wikipedia for S Pen and I command F super and it's not there. We had a whole waveform episode about this, remember? Because the A stands for awesome. yeah yeah but in galaxy s that might stand for one thing but in s pen it doesn't appear to stand for anything oh you're just looking for what s pen stands for yeah oh okay yeah that's what i asked chat what does it say chat it's phone arena did you know that did you do you know what the s and galaxy s line stands for the answer is super cheesy it stands for super smart i think you guys are talking about two different things though that's galaxy s that's Galaxy S, you're saying there's S Pen.

1:21:31So that was my original question. Is the S Pen super smart like in Galaxy S, or is it short for Samsung? Or nothing. I don't think anyone knows. No, Samsung knows. Okay. Maybe. Well, we talked to Samsung. I don't know about that. Wikipedia doesn't. ChatGPT doesn't. Someone said favorite movie TV show. I just want to shout out Halt and Catch Fire, because everyone that watches Waveform would really love this show, because it's about the 80s computer revolution. and it's really good. It's a dramatization. It's so good. Sorry, hopping back in here because now I'm mad. I found the 2011 PR blast from Samsung that has the acronyms for all their letters.

1:22:12It's S, super smart. R, royal slash refined. W is for wonder. M is for magical. And Y is for young. I think what they're saying though is that these are for the devices. s pen might be something else even though the phone itself the s might stand for that like the galaxy tab has an s pen and what does the s stand for that's my question i don't think there's an answer which is is it not the galaxy s tab it's just there's no letter on the galaxy tab the galaxy galaxy tab ultra super smart they do have a they do have a galaxy tab s so the galaxy tab ultra is the one with the s pen it's the galaxy tab wh1000x because they're all really bad product names.

1:22:57Do you want to do last question, Marquez? last question. We should pick a good one. We should all sit in silence and pick the best question. Keyboard switches. That's not it. Ionic 6M. While we wait. What is your guys' best question? I was going to say the TV show I want to shout out while they pick out a question. It's Cowboy Bebop. I don't know why it took me so long to watch that. Oh my God, it's so good. Someone said the S stands for stylus. Might as well. At this point, it might as well. Favorite phone color. No. I have a map like everything shirt on. That stands for sexy. The S stands for shut up, man.

1:23:38That's actually really good. That's good. Favorite country. Trying to get me canceled. Earth. Coffee question mark. People are just typing coffee. There have been a lot of James Hoffman shows. I think we should finally address this. Someone asked something that we've been joking about not answering. So for the longest time, we recorded this show on a device called a Rodecaster, which you can plug four microphones in. And there were five people in this room. And so Adam and I just shared the mic because we don't have that much to say, you know. Not anymore. Now we have so much to say. Yeah, right.

1:24:18So then we upgraded to the Tascam model 12, which did have an extra input for another mic But we just thought this was so funny And so we're never gonna change it just the way I'm sorry heads like five minutes ago like pretty hard No, no, no that was the three thousand Don't worry. Um, not my five dollar skull But yeah, so it's just hilarious I think I think it's part of the fun Adam and I get to you know have our faces kind of awkwardly close to each other for like colleagues but that's part of the fun of making a show i think it's good i think it's it's a good i think it's a great place to end it kind of reminds me of uh when i had the cheerios in the background of mqbhd videos for years people would ask why are there cheerios behind you why are the trees behind you and this the the real answer is i actually started making videos in my college dorm in 2013, 12 or 13.

1:25:18And behind me in the room, there was a microwave and I was shooting on my Canon T2i and the one over 60 shutter speed just looked really weird with the display with like strobe behind me. And anytime I made a video with the microwave behind me, which it would be in every video, people would comment like, yeah, look at the microwave. It's strobing. So I just wanted to put something in front of it to block it so people would stop talking about it. So I started putting a Cheerios box up there. And then I just kept putting a Cheerios box there. And then eventually I moved to a new apartment and I kept putting a Cheerios box behind me and it just stayed behind me and there was no reason for it to be there.

1:25:50And it could totally have moved, but I just kept putting it there because it just felt right. And that's the truth about a lot of things on YouTube and on this podcast with a single mic and with our setups and with a lot of what we do. It just feels right. And that's just the way it is for now. Enjoy it. Hey, thanks for, thanks for watching. Thanks for listening and tuning in and for dropping a bunch of comments that we could answer. This was really fun. We'll probably do this again sometime. Maybe 350, maybe 400. Maybe we'll find a good reason to go live again. But thanks for dealing with us being five whole minutes late.

1:26:22I think it was like 10. Or 10. It was a very stressful 10 minutes. It was a while. Hey, if you guys make it to episode 1000, you might get to see Alice and I test if you can kiss Envision Pro.
