In short
WWE star Becky Lynch discusses career fulfillment, storytelling, wrestling psychology, and behind-the-scenes realities, plus personal life topics (family, food restrictions, phone/privacy habits, and health). The episode also includes light banter about sports fandom and parenting.
Guests
Steph McMahon (host; WWE executive/producer) and Becky Lynch (WWE performer; discussed as having won championships, main-evented WrestleMania, and reached the top of WWE’s women’s division). Becky also references her husband Paul and their children (Rue, Aurora, and others), and mentions trainer Alex Shelley.
Key claims
- Winning titles and marquee moments don’t create lasting fulfillment; helping other wrestlers and creating reactions does.
- In-ring magic comes from commitment and professionalism, even when performers “hate each other” for story purposes.
- “Unreal” (a wrestling/industry-style show) doesn’t ruin the magic; it reveals how some things are done without explaining why it works.
- Audience members like being “got” and surprised, even when they feel betrayed.
- Wrestling requires long-term warmups and preparation; she credits WWE trainers for pushing that.
Notable examples
- Becky recounts training for Rhonda Rousey and deciding she didn’t need to wrestle after a match.
- She discusses a controversial injury storyline (Seth faking an injury) and how audiences react to works.
- Parenting anecdotes: her daughter mimicking AJ Lee and choosing PT studies over wrestling.

0:59Rue doesn't know Colby's wrestling name. Colby goes, Rue, what's my wrestling name? And she goes, I don't know. And then what's mama's wrestling name? Becky Lynch. So she knows that. See? But then I had Raw on and she was in the background doing something. And Michael Cole said, it's going to be Cody Rhodes versus Drew McIntyre. And Rue goes, Cody Rhodes, that's my daddy. Oh,
1:39what's your story? Don't you dare be sour. Clap for Stephanie. and feel the power.
1:57Steph McMahon:Welcome to What's Your Story with Steph McMahon, a WWE and Fanatics original production. So I am very excited for you and this place you seem to be at in your life and in your career where you're just having fun. Oh, yeah. Yes. But why? Was I not picked for a Bexie Award? I mean, you know, I know I'm not like a part of things right now. And maybe the Hall of Fame was like enough of a give that I, it was too much then for me to get a Bexie. But I was a little taken aback. I got to say, they took on a life of their own. They really did. And, you know, but next year, seeing how popular they were.
2:46Right. Next year is a whole different ballgame. It's going to be huge. There's going to be so many more categories. I imagine I'll win many more of these categories also. Yes, yes. But yes, I will consider it. I appreciated the categories.
3:01Steph McMahon:I think I really liked Michael Cole's title the best. Yes, and he deserved it. I know. He really deserved it. I know. Having worked with Michael for a very long time, I don't know why he doesn't understand that he is offensive to the heels in the business. I mean, I don't know that I'd refer to myself as a heel, but. No, no, I'm referring to myself that way. Okay. It's the buttons that he pushes. And he doesn't realize like at that time, I run this company. Yeah. I could fire your ass. He doesn't know his role. He does not know his role. Well, maybe he does. He's been pretty successful at it, but man, he loves to push the buttons.
3:41Steph McMahon:I think he pushes them a little too far personally. But how is he getting away with that? There's a deep conspiracy there. Oh, yeah. Because he shouldn't be able to get away with that. I agree. But I've always felt that way and nothing ever happened. He's very offensive. Says very mean things. Very mean things. And they're not true. But so, right, different scenario for me. But yes, I noticed the same thing with you. I see it all the time every week. I mean, I see it with my own eyes. Yeah. So I, you know, I'm with you. Thank you. Really. I agree with the category. You know what? Here we go. I think you're top running for Bexie for podcast of the year I'm just going to say it right now say it right now we have a whole year I could start my own podcast many people do want me to start my own podcast and that's not just you saying that it's not just me saying it a lot of people are saying it a bleacher report also Rolling Stone a lot of sources there yeah Yeah.
4:41Steph McMahon:But this is so great. Thank you very much. And I do mean it when I say I love to see you having so much fun. Are you having fun? Oh, man. Yes. Maybe too much fun. No, no such thing. No such thing. Is there no such thing? There might be such a thing where I go, oh, you know, is this too? And then as soon as I start going, is this too? I go, nope, nope, nope, nope. It's great. Yes. I love it. It's great. And there is an E in the WWE for a reason. So what is it that we always say? That if you're having fun, the audience is having fun. And that's true. And it's a feel thing. It's not something that you can articulate or like, you know, point out.
5:25Steph McMahon:But it's just, it's something that you feel. Yeah. And it's true. And even just the way you sell when things don't go your way. I mean, it's fabulous. Like your facials. the the whole there's like a whole thing behind it and then where it goes from there and how long it lasts and who gets the heat like it's phenomenal oh thank you very much i am yes i'm very impressed i'm very impressed yeah it's you know i i feel like the stuff that i find fun and and the best and whatever can be a new vehicle for telling stories you know it's it's hard to know if it's going to resonate with the audience but you don't know unless you try you don't know unless you try yeah you know and some of the stuff that i enjoyed the least which was probably when i was at the highest the audience liked so yeah you gotta give them what they want yeah you know but i don't know i think you have to do the things that you want to do and that you think are going to be interesting or that can add a different dynamic to the show or a different dimension and then hopefully the audience hopefully it works like that i don't know i don't know but so that takes well i want to ask you a specific question first and do you think you've do you feel like you still have a lot to prove or do you feel like you've gotten to a place where you've shown who you are and what you're capable of, and now that allows you the freedom to have a little bit more fun and try new things, or is that off?
7:09Oh, gosh. I think it's a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B, right, where I know I've proved myself enough, and I'm at the point in my career where I'm immensely confident in my ability. and in what what do you want me to do okay yeah whatever if I agree with it or I don't agree with it and sometimes I'll be like that's great that's amazing sometimes I'll disagree sure but you gotta you gotta you gotta play the play do the job yeah and then I think when I was younger I would have fought it a lot more both maybe like actually fought it with creative and then fought it mostly with my head and being like oh this is you you know now I just go yeah I'll just make it work you know so how do you get to that place um I think it's a lot of it's it's a of years isn't it you know and then it is it's it's it's it's every goal that i wanted to tick off the list i i have bar one just a silly one not that it's silly i just you know i want i want the money in the bank briefcase i want that right you know a lot of power and especially this character oh yes this character with the money in the bank briefcase.
8:47Oh, yeah. Everybody would hate it so much because they wanted to go to somebody younger, somebody up and coming, somebody who's never been a champion before. And, oh, if I can just run that in everybody's face and have all the champions fear me, oh, the power, you know? So that's the one remaining... That's the one goal that's eluded me. That has not been achieved yet. Yeah, yeah. But I think as well, you know, I've gotten to main event WrestleMania. I've gotten to win all the championships and everything, like every goal that you take and every position that you get, you realize that nothing makes a difference.
9:31You know, like nothing. You're not happier if you've main evented WrestleMania. You're not happier if you have a championship. You're not happier if you're on the marquee. none of it financially yeah that's great we love that we love that but then it matters yes and then but then you get to a point where that doesn't even matter and it's like okay well how can you tell the best stories and it comes back down to the core of it which is the art and also I think I always wanted to be in a position where I could help other people around me and make other people look better. And then once I got to the top, then I was like, okay, now I can, now I can help everybody.
10:18Right. When I'm, when I'm down below and nobody's paying attention, I can help people. You don't mean enough to be able to help somebody at that point. And I, but I, but I always wanted to be in that position. I think coming in, you know, we had so many great people that were so kind, like you were so kind and the Bellas were so wonderful and Trinity and Tamina and Natty. And they all, uh, they all really looked after us in a time when we could have been coming in. We were taking their spots if you wanted to say that. And they didn't act like that. They, they, they, they threw down the ladder and let us climb up.
10:59and I was like oh I want to be able to do that yeah when when I get to the top you just gave me total goosebumps and so being able to do that now and and also because I've been in the main events you know and uh I I know what the audience sounds like right when you're having that match yeah and so I can picture that and then I can tell people and I can help them and I can design design things in such a way to get those reactions because now I know. And so, yeah, I think that's where I always ultimately wanted to land is in a position to, you know, make the girls coming up a bit better and help them in any way that I can in my experience.
11:48And so I think that's what's given me the most fulfillment, right? Because none of the winning anything gives you lasting fulfillment. But that stuff, like when you come back and Maxine has just had an amazing match and she's delighted with her. Like that's, ah, yeah. That's when you go home and you feel good about yourself. And now we've got a new star that we can play with. And yeah, that's the best stuff.
12:20Steph McMahon:Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. It really is the best stuff. and especially when you're helping someone and then you watch them go out and do their own version of whatever it was you were talking about and you can see that moment where it clicks and where they're like feeling it yeah you feel it with them and for them and it's like oh yeah it's it's even better and that's those times where you have to kind of bite your lip from from smiling you know yeah because you you got a scowl right you know you can't be so proud of them so proud that's the thing you know and i think because you've lived it right so you know how it feels it's a totally different type of relationship yeah you know it's it is it's so special and that's i think that's when we that's when it's the best work you know yeah i think well there's a combination there's a combination in wrestling like the best work is either when you really really hate each other and everybody still have chemistry you still have chemistry because you have to have chemistry yes if there's no chemistry you you have to you can hate each other but you have to also work for the story and for the match you can't hate each other and then want to go into business for yourself that's right that's been right uh would you say it's fair to characterize it as you can hate each other, but you have to respect each other.
13:45Oh, 100%. Yes. Yes. Yes. And you, and, but you also, you just, you have to be a professional. Yeah. You know, you can hate each other, but you have to be a professional and you have to work for, this is what we're doing. Yep. Or it's when you both just work together to how do we tell the best story? How do we get the people on their feet? How do we get them to hate me the most and love you the most?
14:09Steph McMahon:You know, Last year, it's like a little bit of magic. It is? That is all the magic. Yeah. The number one sports fan festival, Fanatics Fest, returns to the Javits Center in New York City from July 16th to the 19th, 2026. Fanatics has just announced the return of Fanatics Games, bringing back its high-stakes cross-sport competition where everyday fans go head-to-head with some of the biggest names in sports. The 2026 Fanatics Games introduces an expanded format with a$2 million total prize pool and new nationwide qualifying opportunities for fans to compete alongside elite athletes. The inaugural winner, Tom Brady, as well as reigning fan champion Matt Denish will be back.
15:00Steph McMahon:WWE superstars Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso will also be joining the competition for a shot at the title. Head to fanaticsfest.com to apply to compete or grab your tickets to Fanatics Fest. You don't want to miss out. So what do you think about Unreal? Because everybody has a different perspective. So how I bring it back is when I was a fan. Oh my gosh. Like this is everything that I would have wanted. Right. Like I remember watching Mick Foley's documentary on repeat. It was a VCR. And so that tape was worn down. It was getting scratchy. Yeah. But I wanted to know how the sausage was made.
15:51And like even I watched Raven had a psychology video on like in-ring psychology. and I watched that constantly. And so I always wanted to know how things were done. So I think when I was a fan, this is exactly, I would have loved it. And then the old school wrestler of me goes, you know, ah, we got to keep some of it. But also, you know, I'm sitting here talking about how I want to help people. So it's already, it's gone, you know? Right, right. It's gone. And so we can maybe keep a little bit of it for ourselves. But at the other end of the things, you know, the toothpaste is out of the tube.
16:46Steph McMahon:But I don't think it gives the magic away. It might be the how-tos of certain things. Yeah. But the magic is magic for a reason. That's true. You know? Just the way it told the story of what you and your daughter went through when Seth was faking the injury. Oh, yeah. Right? That's so well done. But then to see it afterwards, like, okay, it took a toll on you, on your family. Everyone was going through it for that moment that the audience felt. But I suppose isn't that the other thing of it, right? That thing, that injury became so controversial where literally, like, that's what we do all the time.
17:31Right, it's called a work. We do that all the time. People are mad because they got got. Yeah, they got got. They're like, you can't lie about that stuff. Wait a minute, but that's, wait, that's, wait. Do you know how many times we've done that? All the time. Any time. All the time. Anybody gets injured, taken out, put through a table, dragged off in a stretcher. If it's not a real stretcher, that's what we're doing, but we just we did it but we just kind of also did it but see people haven't lived the gimmick
18:03Steph McMahon:in a long time no they haven't they haven't like been out in public and not broken character in a long time yes but paul you know has had to do that so many times i remember him going through like we'd go to events and stuff and he'd have his arm in a sling or whatever because he was you know live in the gimmick right yes but that has stopped for so long until you and it was it was so it was so great the way he did it the way he did it the way you all did it I mean it was really it was so well done and you know what truthfully the audience really loves to be got they do yes they love it when they're caught off guard they love it when they don't see it coming you know that's well but i think they love it they hate it yeah but i think it's it's so great when you actually because they're all so smart you know and everybody loves the business and so when you can actually get them it's like it's just money it is you know it is but we we we yeah you you have to commit yes to that level to trick anybody to trick anyone yeah and so are we all gonna do that yeah probably not again for a while but like you know but who knows but also like brian cranston doesn't have to go out there being a meth dealer right for anybody to buy into breaking bad you know what i mean it's true i mean it would have been cool to see him in the audience like doing a deal but that's all right yeah but it's our world yeah and it's fantastical and it's amazing and there's you know it really is and I know people are dogging Marvel these days which it's been hugely successful but Marvel is all these different universes and all these different characters and that is really akin to WWE especially now with more territories and AAA coming on board and all these different levels and then how the characters ultimately cross over or connect or what, how it's different within the different worlds themselves.
20:10Steph McMahon:Like there's limitless storytelling. It's just, it's fascinating. Yeah. It's multiverse. Not that I love it or anything. Oh man, I love that you love it though. You know, like to have grown up in it and still just love it. I do. This way. Yeah. It's funny. I've spoken, you know, since I left the company have spoken at one business conference and I did it for a friend and the audience were asked they asked me during the conference they said you seem to love it so much I was like I do yeah you know and they said you're so passionate about it I said I am they're like well why aren't you there you know and it was a hard question at the time you know I suppose it still is because as I'm saying it out loud, I'm like, well, I'm here.
20:58Steph McMahon:I'm doing this. I'm talking to you. Yes. Yes. Which you've always been so great at conversing with that eye contact. I'm a big eye contact person. Yeah. I got to like, we got to, you know, engage. Yeah, no, I know. But I remember meeting you for the first time. Is it like off-putting? No, it's wonderful. It's amazing. You make people feel like they're the only person in the room, you know? But it's also when you're seeing Stephanie McMahon, who you've watched on TV since you were a teenager. And I'm staring you down. But you're like peering into your soul, and you're like, I have no right to be here, and she knows this.
21:45But you're also trying to have a conversation. But then you're also just so kind, you know? So, yeah, good on you. no thanks but yeah no i think it's it's it's it's interesting right because you love wrestling so much and i i'm speaking for you but also with myself like it but it also can take such a toll you can on you yeah and i didn't grow up with my dad running the business um but it is that thing where you love the everything that goes into it you love the people the people the people The people are everything. The crew around it. The banter, coming backstage. Just everybody. Everybody. And when you go to work and you're just like, I could be doing anything else.
22:31I have no right to be here. And I'm just having the best time having conversations with people that I admire immensely. People that have grown up watching. Like these new kids that keep you hip. Right? Thank God for that. And they have all these skincare regimes that I wouldn't have known anything about.
22:52Steph McMahon:It is a lot of product. Yes. Yes. There's a tremendous market. And they know all about it. Trust me. Trust me. I have three daughters. Yeah. Yeah. They're going to be 20, 18 and 16. That's insane. At the end of the summer. That's nuts. I remember them walking around. I feel like I haven't been around long enough to have watched them growing up, but I have. But you have, kind of. Yeah. I know I have. Yeah. But anyway, my youngest is like a skincare freak. Yeah. I don't mean it in like a negative way, but she's just very into it. And she's 14. No, no. She'll be 16. She's 16. Wait. What? 16, 18, and 20.
23:37God, how did that happen?
23:38Steph McMahon:I don't know. I don't know. It's weird because you notice your own kids growing up, but I feel like when you meet other people with kids, you think they're stuck in time. Like Kevin Owens, I'm still convinced his daughter, Elodie, is three. You're like, so how is she? Yeah, and a son, Owens, who's now bigger than him. Yeah, exactly. It's mad. It is. Is she still doing the theater? She is. Well, she doesn't love theater as much as she does just singing. Okay. But she's an entertainer at heart. I mean, I don't know where she gets it from. Elise and I will be like having meetings and it's the Vaughn show.
24:17Steph McMahon:I mean, it just is. If she comes in the room, it is the Vaughn show. Like, here goes. We're going to pause for 30 minutes. That's amazing. For however long it takes. Maybe longer. Does she write her own songs or anything? She does. She writes her own music. And Jelly said he's going to help her. No. Yeah. I mean, we'll see. That's cool. But it's even cool that he would say it. I mean, that's amazing. He's a genuine lad. he is very genuine if he says something he'll do it took my husband out for sushi the other day wow i'm blowing up the spot but he did wow yeah yeah that's pretty cool yeah yeah yeah he said he was gonna go for a sushi with jelly roll sure enough they did he went for sushi with jelly roll invited uh i have never eaten fish oh really i don't know if that was the reason that i wasn't invited to be honest with you because you could have had some rice or i love i love an avocado Avanterolls.
25:09Steph McMahon:See? Avanterolls are good. Anyway. But yeah, no, anyway, he went out and... And they had a good time. Yeah, had a great time. Yeah, he's a great guy. Great lad. And so he said, the advice he gave my daughter is really akin to a similar theme that I hear through every podcast that I've done, which is work ethic, right? And he said, how many songs have you written? And at that time, she had written however many. and he said, okay, here's what you need to do. Keep writing until you've written hundreds of songs and your skill is going to evolve and you're going to find your voice, you're going to find your style through this process.
25:50Steph McMahon:And once you feel good and confident about it, then let's work together. That's cool. Isn't that great advice? No, I mean, it's great advice. Yeah, from Jelly Roll. From Jelly Roll. From Jelly Roll. Yeah, and he totally gets, he connected with her. He goes, so is your family a musical family? No, we're not. You can't post out a tune? What's that? You can't post out a tune? I can carry a tune. Okay. But I like sing loud and proud. Which is great. And then my voice cracks. Like it's terrible. You just enjoy it when you're in it. I do. I'm like, I do. I love to sing and dance. I'm not saying I'm good at either one of them.
26:27Steph McMahon:But that's besides the point. Not a musical family. And so he was talking to her about that too. like being the only one in the family that actually get like gets this particular thing just like the wrestling business or just like whatever yeah and he was kind of like bringing her into his musical family a little bit oh yeah that's how i took it anyway have somebody to take you under your wing yeah especially jelly roll who apparently by the way did you know this that he just like discovered that he could sing when he was like 30 or something no i didn't know maybe I'm wrong with that he like just rapped and then all of a sudden he just started like doing the chorus and then somebody was like hey you should sing you should do that wow who is that person and again you know I say these stories and then I'm like you're just couching it I feel like I do that all the time and I do the same thing in mid story I'm like I'm pretty sure that's what I heard Yeah, yeah, yeah.
27:31Steph McMahon:I heard this. That's your version of it. I was there, yeah. I mean, that is what happens, right? This was secondhand information from Colby. Because you weren't invited. Because I wasn't invited. And so why don't you eat fish? Okay, nobody says this sentence. Mmm, smells like fish. Yummy. You ever hear that? You ever hear that sentence being said? Disgusting. Disgusting. No. I don't know. Looks gross, smells gross. Salmon cooking smells good to me. I don't allow it in my house But you've never tried it? No Refuse But haven't you also Aren't you a vegetarian? I used to be Not anymore now I'm trying to get gains But also I've got this little baby stomach I can't tolerate nothing I can't tolerate gluten Haven't eaten that in 20 years Have you worked with specialists or anything?
28:29Steph McMahon:No. Because you could probably like introduce little bits. Like I bet there's a way that you can get your stomach back. Yeah. Really? I'll look into it afterwards. And it's worth it, right? Yeah, no, for sure. Food is something you enjoy, right? Yeah. It tastes good. Yeah, yeah. It smells good. Yeah, yeah. But like so... Nash almost knocked the light over.
28:53Steph McMahon:I feel like you have to call that out. Sorry. yeah toe and i'm sorry i'm very hot can i take oh yeah there you are everyone's gonna tune in speaking of talking about what i was talking about there we go oh yeah oh yeah but uh no so yeah so i can't tolerate it's soy protein pea protein nothing so being a vegetarian was just so hard for me and then like i was oh you didn't develop these allergies like you had these allergies I had them. So how were you a vegetarian? What did you eat? I had protein shakes, eggs, cheese, stuff like that. Okay, so you could have eggs and cheese. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I wasn't a vegan.
29:37Vegan. God, the other day, I think it was something, Colby was making something, or I was making something, and he was like, God, I would just hate to be you. He was like, you just can't eat anything. And I was like, yeah, but like, I'm, I really like all the things that I eat. Right. So what do you eat? Oh gosh. Uh, lots of protein shakes. Uh, lots of chocolate. That's not eating. You know that's drinking. Yeah, yeah. Chocolate, rice, meat. Now that I eat meat. But so like what kind of meat? Like I love, I like a steak. Very well done. Extremely well done. Oh my God. Has to be the most well done.
30:19I do not want to be reminded that it's an animal. I want to feel like I'm eating cardboard. And that is how I find it the most delicious. Like whenever I go to a restaurant, I'm like, I want the chef to hate himself. I want him to hate himself. That's the quote you give to the waiter? That is my prompt. That's your goal. Because otherwise they'll, you know, the chef will be on the edge. I'm like, no, no, no. I will send it back. Unless he hates himself, I will send it back.

30:47Steph McMahon:On the other end. I like the medium rare. But if it's too rare, like purple, I don't want to eat. No, that's... Yeah, I like it. I'm with you. The pink. Yeah, pink. It could be a little red, but not purple. Yeah. Not fleshy. I mean, even the red. I like the red. It's too... No. Oh, God. We felt the same way when you were saying the well, well, well done. Yeah. That's how everybody likes things different. Yeah. But did you become a vegetarian because you didn't want to eat meat? Yeah, just because of the animals. You know, one of my favorite movies is Babe. And so I've been like on and off since I was 15.
31:33And I watched Babe much younger, but I rewatched it at 15 and then was like, what am I doing? You know, when the pig goes, goodbye, mom.
31:42Steph McMahon:Oh, forget it. Stop it. But there's a lot more horrible things you could watch. That would have turned yours. Yeah. But like, goodbye mom. Like they show you the actual, what actually happens. What are you watching? Or the slaughterhouses. Yeah. I mean, yes. I never watched it because I'm a meat eater. And I hope that where I'm getting my meat is from a, like a very well-sourced place and none of that happens. But yeah, I've heard all about it. Yeah. Pretty, pretty gnarly some stuff. The animals die of natural causes. That's why. They do. No, that's what happens. Guys, we gotta change the subject.
32:14Yes, for sure. So anyway, no sushi for me. So I've never heard of fish because it's yucky.
32:26Steph McMahon:Talking about babe. What about Charlotte's Web? I never watched it. Okay. Yeah, I never watched it. It was great. Yeah. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay. Sign me up. I was going to ask you if it made you, like, how do you feel about spiders in your house? Oh, yeah. Well, no, I'm not a spider fan. Right. But if you saw Charlotte's Web, would you like, oh, the poor spider? And I'm not making fun of how you felt. I realized the way I just said that. No, yeah, yeah, yeah. Came across that way. No, I mean, it's anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's anything, you know. You could go that way with a tree. And, you know, it is a thing to be a tree.
33:05I don't know what it feels like to be a tree. Neither do I. But a tree is a living organism.
33:10Steph McMahon:So if a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody around to hear it. Does it make a sound? does it make sound no no because it will make vibrations but it won't make a sound oh i remember learning this in science in science class and again i could be wrong this is middle school science coming back hard but i'm pretty sure Or no, because like sound is what happens when the vibrations hit your eardrums. So if a tree falls and nobody's around to hear it, then it doesn't have an eardrum to hit off. So therefore there is no sound. There is vibrations, but no sound. Huh. Pat Patterson, the late Pat Patterson's partner, Louie, used to always ask me that question.
34:05Steph McMahon:And what would you say? I never I was a kid like I never knew how to answer I would always say yes yes it makes a sound even though I'm not no one's there to hear it it still makes a sound that's what I that was my answer but I kind of love the whole vibration thing like technically it's making a sound but if no one's there to hear it it's not an audible it doesn't be it doesn't become a sound yeah So it's very, very interesting. Allegedly. I'm going to shut my ringer off. Oh, that's you. And it's Paul. Tell him I said hi. Oh, by the way, Colby says hi. Okay, I say hi back.
34:52Steph McMahon:With Becky now. Lisa's also here. Tell him I have a creative pitch for him. No, I'm just kidding. She says hi, and she has a pitch. Can we call you? I'm not kidding. Okay. Did you take L-O-L? I did. I did. Putting your phone on silent. You keep it on. You keep it on. You keep it loud. I don't know how to turn the phone into it. No, it does. The side button doesn't work for the ringing noises. Isn't there? There's just the switch. No, I don't know how to do it. It's like so loud. It rings so loud all the time and it's very annoying. But if you just put it on silent. No, I'll put it on silent, but I don't know how to lower the volume of the ring itself.
35:42Steph McMahon:So it's like I need to have it on, right? Especially right now. My kids aren't here. Like I need them to be able to get in touch with me. But the ring is so loud. And then every message comes through because I don't have it isolated to just my kids. So it's like. It's me. It's usually Elise. You got like an AI brain chip in there or something. She kind of does. Yeah, she does. She thinks it and it like goes to my phone. Incredible technology. I did. Oh, okay. I thought you said you didn't know how. No, I know how to put it on silent. I don't know how to turn the volume down for the ringtones. Okay.
36:20We'll work on that. There's just a volume.
36:23Steph McMahon:It's not. Okay. I know the up and down buttons. and I click that down button and nothing's happening. Maybe a new phone? No. I'm sure it's operator error. Okay. You can show me how to do it. I didn't say it. It's much more fun to complain about it. That's fair. Than to actually fix it. Yeah. I understand. Honestly, I haven't had my phone on loud. Yeah. Probably 15 years. Ding, ding, ding. Drives me insane. What a dream. Right? Just never keep it on. Do you lose your phone at all? All the time. Oh, my God. Everywhere. All the time. Yes. Do your kids say that? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. But especially my husband.
37:09Steph McMahon:Oh, yeah. I can never get a hold of you. Yeah. It's normally weird together going everywhere. But he just did because the ringer was on. If the ringer is on, then they can get me. But if the ringer is off, then I lose track of the phone. and yeah she puts it like on a couch the back of the couch and walks away and it blends in a good spot yeah at the moment and you'll remember it you're always like i always do that i'm like i'm gonna read and i consciously think about where it is so like doesn't work 98 of my job is following oh she put it there okay steph did you want this yeah that's that's john cone's job Because I'm constantly losing it backstage.
37:54Yeah. Like, John, can you find my phone? He's going to have to get an air tag. Yes, exactly.
38:00Steph McMahon:That's been proposed to me as well. You haven't gotten one yet? Okay. I don't want anybody to really be able to track me. Oh, touche. Well, I mean, we're all trackable. I suppose. Yes. Everything. I don't even share my location, though, but I know somehow it's being shared. With? With anybody. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah, no, I don't know that. But then like my apps, I do the privacy setting while using. So they, my apps know. Yeah, I think at this stage, I'm just like, yeah. It's just crazy. They're just, they're with all around. Well, and you know, you see all these things, right? And it's like protect your identity and take these steps and do this with your phone.
38:41Steph McMahon:So I'm always like nervously trying to do it. But it makes me think, how many things am I missing? Right? Because it's all in the fine print, so to speak. It's all in the fine print. You know? And does anybody read the fine print? Nobody reads the fine print. No. Does anybody? Would you say there's somebody out there that's got to read the fine print? Somebody loves the fine print. God bless the lawyers. Somebody's writing the fine print. Wow, yeah. They take great pride in their work, too. I mean, they - Shut all the tricky stuff in there. Very, yeah, legally binding. Yes. In fact, I need those lawyers.
39:15Where are they? Let's get them on screen. I'm like, this sounds like you need them. We need to call the fine print lawyer.
39:21Steph McMahon:Yeah, that's my pitch for Paul. Okay. The fine print lawyer. Yep. Yep. Got to bring Joseph Parker. Put that in the contract. I would love me an on-screen lawyer. They're usually very talented lawyers, the on-screen lawyers. Oh, yeah. You've got to pitch for me. Are you pitching the job for yourself? No. No, not for myself. I mean, nobody could double-cross you. ooh it would be you know I always wanted to wrestle you if I can't wrestle you this would be the perfect I'm sorry the perfect would have been fun though it would be great yeah would have been great so it was it was funny because I had been you know training for Rhonda and working with Rhonda and she at the time it was her first match and you know there was and you know it was a little stiff on occasion I'm sure she didn't mean it that way.
40:17Steph McMahon:And even her soft was probably just felt stiff. So it was rough for three months. It was three months that I trained and had this match and then afterwards I was a little like, you know what? I'm good. I don't think I need to wrestle anymore. I used to love to take pumps. It was like my favorite thing. And then I was like, maybe I don't have that itch anymore. You know, wrestling her, there was one thing, there was one time when she beat me up. And I remember thinking, not because I could fight back, but I was like, oh, I can take a beating. Maybe I could go into MMA. Oh. Because I think I can take it.
41:04You know, but then that lasted one week. Yeah.
41:08Steph McMahon:It's not fun to just take a beating. Yeah. Yeah. But I could take it. You can. Of course you can. All right. I can take this. I get it. I do have a long reach. You do. I do. I do. I do have very long arms. Yeah, you know, I have very long arms also. Oh, do you? Yeah, my brother used to call me an orangutan. Oh, that's not nice. I know. He's brothers. Yeah, that is brothers. It's a brother thing. You know? Yeah. But see? And basketball. And basketball. I did love basketball. I loved basketball too. Did you play it? I did. Yeah. I mean, again, I wasn't like an all-star, but I was a great defender because of my arms.
41:46Steph McMahon:Yeah. And I can box somebody out like nobody's business. So I'm rebounding. You know, I can get the rebounds. I can block your shots. You know, I'm more of a defensive player. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. You're not going to put me at the top of the key. Every now and then I could hit a shot. Do a free throw. Free throw. Free throw. Sorry. On the mic now? Yeah, I know. Yeah. what's what's aurora playing softball yeah that's wait that's that's that's baseball baseball softball with the soft yeah bigger ball the bigger ball yes with a bigger ball it's very that's misleading it is i know it actually is very interesting why is it called softball yeah and they don't know they can throw that ball i mean like 70 miles an hour it's crazy the pitcher is she she she's catcher she's catcher okay yeah yeah okay catcher yeah sports sometimes i have to okay is that that's the per that's the person yeah she's the person at home plate that catches the pitch right yeah look that i just watched my first baseball game i gotta really you were like full one of the World Series.
43:05Well, that's a good one to watch. That was it. Yeah. Do you mean the Super Bowl? Wait, no. The World Series.
43:15Steph McMahon:What was your experience? What did you think? That was fun, but that was the one where it kept going, where it was like 18 innings or something. And I was like, that was fun. Yeah. Long. Yeah. And then I watched the actual, the final one. The other ones. What do you think of it as a live event experience? Not enough bad guys. Right? Yeah. Not enough fights. There's no fun. No promos. Right? You know what I mean? Come on. Yeah. Like that's. I know. I will say I'm getting into American football because of Colby. Okay. But. He's a big fan. He's a huge fan. But I also get the living room promos. You know?
44:01So I'm watching him cut promos. Full time entertainment.
44:03Steph McMahon:The whole time. That's kind of awesome. Should you record these? Yes. Too much explicit language. But maybe OnlyFans or something, put it behind a piracy wall. I'd be, yes, I'd make a fortune. It's so entertaining. It's incredible. Oh, that sounds like something I would pay to see, for real. But the great thing about the Bears last year was they wouldn't play until the fourth quarter. And so just, you just get just these rants for three quarters that are just hilarious. Poor Ru hates them. She's going to not like football. She still likes it though. She wears her bear's dress, you know, and her bear's hat.
44:54Oh my God. She like made a flag and she would like, and so.
44:58Steph McMahon:That's very cute. So instead of Colby like yelling, she was like, Dad, just wave the flag. You don't have to do that, Daddy. You could do this instead. But he couldn't help himself. So then he would just flip out and then wave the flag. How cute is that, though? Oh, it's the best. It's the best. So she's never tried to mimic the promos? Promos? Well, now, yeah, now she, now she, well, not those promos. Right? It's really incredible how she never cusses, which is shocking for her being around that. And it's not one of those things where we've ever been like, oh, don't say that. You know, but she just, yeah, she doesn't just sweet little angel.
45:45But now she's now she's she's into playing wrestling. And they're so smart. Yeah. she's like, can I be the one that you hate? And then she puts on AJ Lee's music. Oh my God. And she does the skip. No. And I'm like, in my own home. And like she does the hair flip and everything. Oh my God, that is awesome. The betrayal. The betrayal. The betrayal. The betrayal.
46:22Steph McMahon:The sheer betrayal. The sheer betrayal. She's not on your side. No, no. God, no. No. She wants to be, I will say she has pretty good taste. Like her favorite wrestlers are Bianca, Io, and Naomi. I'm like, yeah. I'm like, you know, Mama's pretty cool too. You're not cool. You're not cool. You're so cool. She's not buying it. She's not buying it for a second. Oh, my God. That's so funny. One of the four horsewomen, don't you know my story? Yeah, no, no, she didn't know it. She doesn't care about any of us. She doesn't care about any of us, no. Oh, that's so cute. She loves Bianca. She loves Naomi.
47:06She loves Io. She loves AJ.
47:09Steph McMahon:Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry about the last one. Oh, my gosh. Must be tough. Must be tough. Like, come on. Yeah. What are you doing? Right? And I thought I had to wait. And it's not even in your back. It's directly in your heart. And smiles while she's doing it. While she's sticking it to you. She's in character. I thought this was going, I thought this was going to happen when she was a teenager. I thought this was when. Yeah. Maybe it's foreshadowing a little bit. Born heel. Yeah. It happens. Baby face. I don't know. I remember Aurora and Murph wrestling around having a fake match, my two oldest.
47:51Steph McMahon:and it was, I mean, they were young at the time, like very, very little, like five and three. And I was the referee and I was always so nervous what they were doing. And so, but they were good. They really had like a cute little match. And I'm like, okay, you know, she covers and I'm like, all right, one, two, and a row like comes up. And then she does it like two more times. And I'm like, honey, you know, you're supposed to pin. And she goes, mama, I don't want the match to end. And I was like, oh, but she was so smart. Like to know, like she was almost lifting her sister up. Like you're supposed to kick out.
48:29Steph McMahon:It was crazy. Yeah, so cute. I know they're the best. Do they want to get into the business? Well, Aurora used to want to. And she even got in the ring with Natty and Charlotte. She rolled around a little bit. But then, you know, everything kind of happened with my dad and me leaving. And it was like an awkward time, like right in the time that she would have really been making her decision. So she's now studying for and not that she couldn't. You know, she still could. But her mind right now is on getting her doctorate in PT. That's cool. Yeah. How handy. Right. How handy for the two of you. And she's grown up with all of our injuries, which is why I think, you know, she kind of has a proclivity towards it.
49:18Steph McMahon:And, you know, she's been on the road and she's seen how everything operates. She's fascinated with sports injuries, like fascinated with it. So she really is definitely kind of a calling for her. But that's not to say she couldn't do both. Yeah, no. I mean, she'd be she'd be such a natural. We have Alex Shelley. Alex Shelley's a PT. Yeah, I didn't know that. Yeah. Incredible. Wow. He taught me how to warm up. Really? Yeah. What's the trick? He wrote me a whole thing. Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bands? Bands. Stretching. You know, I watch Randy Orton warm up for just ages. Yeah, he has a real warm up routine.
49:56And I keep going, I'm going to be Randy Orton. I'm going to do it.
50:01Steph McMahon:I'm going to do it. The older you get, the longer you have to warm up. Yeah. It's like, have you seen Adam Sandler grownups? when they're about to like have the fight with the frat kids and then all of a sudden they're like, hang on a second, they're all stretching. Like that's a real thing. Yeah. Yeah. And I have gotten away my whole career without doing it actually. Yeah. Well, that's the thing. And so eventually you will need to. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, yeah. But like, yeah. So I was like, I'm gonna, I'm going to be Randy. Yeah, you will be one day. You'll be. I mean, look, I think of when I first met Randy.
50:43Randy was about four years younger than I am now. And he was still doing the same warm up. Oh, well, then maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm wrong.
50:52Steph McMahon:I feel like at least for us, it happened later in life. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't remember Randy doing that in the beginning. No. But certainly ever since I came on the road Yeah I guess the past 10 years Yeah but then Patrick gave me Gave me a You know I say that Patrick gave me a warm I will say like the trainers The WWE trainers are going to be like How many times And you're putting this guy Patrick over It's Alex Shelley Come on it's Alex Shelley You know he wrestles too How many bumps have you taken Doc Oh, oh, oh. I love you. I love you. Sorry, Larry. Sorry, Larry. You're the best. Just saying.
51:39Steph McMahon:But he knows. He's been there. So what's your coffee of choice? Oh. Assuming that's coffee. This is coffee. Actually, so normally I'm an espresso drinker. Oh. An espresso and a quartado. What's a quartado? Or a pour over. So it's two ounces of, espresso two ounces of milk, of steamed milk. Oh. Delicious, incredible, amazing. So that's kind of like a lesser cappuccino. Yeah. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Like a small flat white. That's like an in-between. That's what we need. Yeah. Not foamy as much, more like a small latte. Oh, okay. Yeah. All right. But the ratio is good. But the ratio is even. Yeah. But I had a stomach flu for the last little while.
52:23That's not fun. Oh. When was this? It's horrendous. Yesterday. When did I have it? No, no. Just today is the first day I feel normal since then, yeah. Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
52:35Steph McMahon:Did you get it from Rue? She never got it. Thank goodness. She never got it. Oh, God bless her. She was so scared of getting it. Oh. She's so scared of throwing up. Mommy, stay away from me. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. She was like, am I going to throw up? She's so scared of throwing up. God love her. Little kids are. They are. I mean, it's a scary thing. It's horrible. It is horrible. And you can't control it. No. You feel awful. You think you're, you know, you can't breathe while you're in the middle of it. Yeah. You can choke on it, too. Yeah. While you're, I mean. It's odd. It's horrible. Yeah. No, it's horrendous.
53:10She just always has to. Just go over the hill. It's real. It's real talk. Yeah. But anyway, so I had that. Yeah. Thankfully, nobody else in the family got it. Both ends. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
53:23Steph McMahon:You know. Yeah. Both ends at the same time has to be the worst. That thankfully wasn't at the same time. Yeah. So that's good. I've had that happen. Oh, yeah. Tell us. On the way back from Mexico. Oh, God. We went on our honeymoon. Luckily, I managed to make it. Well, it was on the plane that it happened, that I ate the bad stuff. Oh, it was fruit. Because I was very careful about, you know, what I was eating the whole time and drinking. And then on the plane, I didn't think about it. But the food was prepared there. So it was a salad that had been washed in the water. And that's where I think I got it.
54:00Steph McMahon:It was bad. How long did that last for? Like 24 hours went right through me. The worst is just the not being able to do anything. No, that's the thing. You couldn't even get up. Yeah. I mean, it really was funny. Like actually I found it hilarious. Happy honeymoon. Because, yeah, and then Paul was on one bathroom and I'm in the other. It was just funny to me. And then our poor kids, we had been gone because, you know, We were celebrating our anniversary, so they kept wanting to. They were little, little. And they kept trying to come in to see us. Oh, no, honey, it's okay. You don't want to come in here.
54:38Steph McMahon:Oh, sweet little angels. Oh, they are the best. I love kids. They are. Me too. Yeah. So I saw you might be considering having another one maybe? Well, people are speculating. Well, no, the eternal battle. Like, it's the eternal battle. because it's just so unfair being a woman in this business. I know. It really is so unfair. And the process. I just want one to show up on my doorstep. That would be great. Just a stork. Yes. Just, oh, right. There you go. You know, but yeah, like Rue keeps asking for a sibling. And yeah, I would love one. But I go, like, how much? you went I don't yeah how much how much longer do I have wrestling how much right ah right it's tough it's I get mad yeah about it you know I get mad that I have to make this decision I know biology I get it I get it was an easy decision for you yes I just I always wanted to be a mom more than anything.
55:48Yeah, yeah, yeah.
55:48Steph McMahon:So that was always my focus was like to have babies. And I had the three and then I had some complications with Vaughn. And so I was meeting with the doctor to find out if I could have another one. And he said, well, you can, but you'd be on bed rest the whole time. And we'd have to do a full hysterectomy when you had the baby. And I was like, so yes. And Paul was like, absolutely not. We heard two very different things. That's crazy. There's a chance. And there's a way you can do it. Wow. And Paul was like, we have three healthy kids. Yeah. We don't, let's not take an unnecessary risk. So. Yeah.
56:28Yes.
56:28Steph McMahon:And I'm very grateful. I'm very blessed. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's, you know, when you've got these healthy children. Right. Yeah. It really is a blessing. It is. What a blessing. They're just so great. And they're just magic, man. Everything through their eyes. Right. You know, there's just, there's just nothing. There's just nothing that compares to it. I agree. I love it so much. And that's like, you know, how do, how do, how would we balance? Right. Two versus one. And the job. No, you figure it out. I love. Yeah, no. Yeah, you do. You do. You do. Because you have no choice. Them together. Them together.
57:06Yeah. But it's up to you. I know, I know. That's your choice. I know. Which is annoying. Yeah, I know. That's the other thing. I know. That is the other thing. It's all on you. It is all on me. Because Colby, unfortunately, is the best. He's the best. He's supportive either way. He's so supportive. And I'm like, you know. It'd be great. You know. Tell me what to do. Listen to me with your support. And he's like, it's your decision. My career stays the same. My life doesn't have to change that much. So it is. It's up to you. I can't. I know. Sounds like something Paul would say.
57:48Steph McMahon:Yeah. Yeah. Damn you supportive, understanding husband. So frustrating. Yes, with your handsome face. I get that too. Oh, by the way, Rue doesn't know Colby's wrestling name. Really? So, yeah, the other day Colby goes, Rue, what's my wrestling name? and she goes uh i don't know and then what's mama's wrestling name becky lynch so she knows but then i had raw on and she was in the background doing something this is just the other day and michael cole said it's gonna be cody rhodes versus drew mcintyre and rue goes Cody Rhodes that's my daddy oh oh oh oh
58:50oh oh that's so cute oh it's the best what was his reaction to this oh he just well he wasn't there he wasn't there he wasn't there he wasn't there he was a raw I just texted him thought it was hilarious and then she thought it was the funniest thing in the world when he hit Paul Heyman in the back of the chair. Oh, really? She thought it was hilarious. Wow. Hilarious. So she's on his side. Oh, yeah, 100%. And not yours. No. But she knows your name. Well, to be fair, she knows my name. That's true. She thinks Cody Rhodes is her daddy. I mean.
59:27Steph McMahon:That's so good. I love that story. Oh, my God. She's so cute. Oh, she's the best. She's the best. And she just, she, like, went out to dinner with Bianca one night. And she loves Bianca. And she, she was like, was, she, she picked out her dress and it was like a flowery dress. And she just, she, I was like, oh, she's just going to chat the ear off Bianca. She was just so shy. She didn't say a single word. Oh no. And then like the next day she was like, can I, can I, can I wear the dress that I met Bianca at to school? And then, oh, you just, you love it. You love it. You love it when they love the stuff.
1:00:07Yeah, any little thing that makes them happy.
1:00:13Steph McMahon:Maybe I'll have another one. I don't know. Well, I don't want to be convincing you to take time away, certainly. But, you know, I'm not saying anything. But I do. I do love those babies. Hunter's going to be like, stop it. Yes, I know. He's like, stop it.
1:00:34I don't like the champ anymore. Yeah. Which actually, Colby was at Raw yesterday, and I texted him. I was like, oh, can you get my title? I forgot that I didn't have any.
1:00:49Steph McMahon:Yeah. Yeah. It's tough. It's rough for you. He actually didn't have the heart to tell me I wasn't the heart anymore. Oh, you mean you genuinely got confused there for a second? Oh, no. Honest to God. Oh, yeah. Honest to God. You were like, oh, I forgot it. I'm the, I'm the, I'm the, I left it a lot. Of course you are. Right. Right. Yeah. Cause yeah, I am the real. I mean, you are. Look, I have won. This is, come on. This is ridiculous. I have won 100 % of my matches that have not been reffed by Jessica Carr. By Jessica Carr. So you tell me. I am. She's the common denominator. Is that a fact? That is a fact.
1:01:27That is a fact. That is a fact. That in the last however many months, I have won 100%. Like the past year? Yeah, I think so. I have won 100 % of my matches that have not been reffed by Jessica Carr. Certainly in the last like six months or so.
1:01:43Steph McMahon:Wow. That's very interesting. That is very interesting. As her potential lawyer. I think you do need a lawyer. I mean. And I need somebody with power. Big power. Big power. Who's actually a lawyer. That they can't. That they can't. Quick on their feet. Good on a mic. The unreal cameras aren't here. We have had some terrible, terrible lawyer characters. Characters. And some bad ones. Horrible. We've had some real bad ones, though. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it's a matter of... A supposed preference. Yeah, opinion. And everybody has opinions about things. Yeah. That's true. Some... People enjoy things.
1:02:30Steph McMahon:Some don't. A lot of people don't. Yeah. That's true. And... So, why not try again? Yeah. Can only... You know what? Here's the thing. Can only get better. Can it get worse? Well, I mean, are you at rock bottom? Pretty darn close. Have you seen her tweets? I feel like, no, I think there's further to fall. Maybe once you've fallen as far as you can fall, we'll see what happens. Okay. All right. I don't like that glint in your eyes. I'm hoping for my downfall. I know nothing. Oh, no. No, I really don't. Did you make it seem like you do? Yeah, I know. It's tricky. Do you? I don't know. Do you guys talk nonstop about wrestling at home?
1:03:23Steph McMahon:No. So sometimes, I mean, it's funny. It used to be the only thing we'd fight about was creative. Oh, I know this. Yeah, but that was a long time ago. That was before he was, you know, in charge of creative. So that was like, you know, a long time ago. But that's the only time we would really disagree about stuff. Oh, yeah. And it would be great because we'd really like have a full conversation. I'd always learn a lot too. Not saying he persuaded me every time, but like it was just, you know, it's a lot of knowledge, right? And it's really interesting, truly everybody's perspective and where they come from and why they come from that place and what their experiences have been and what your experiences have been and how things have felt differently or what have you.
1:04:08Steph McMahon:You know, it's like it is. It's an intriguing conversation. but um no we will talk business not necessarily creative sometimes we will but i also don't like to know oh because i want to watch you know i'm trying to remember what the last the show a show we were at and you were like i didn't know yeah i had no idea i forget who it was it's happened a couple of times since i do it just keeps happening actually you never know oh yeah no i i I often don't know the finish. Because that takes all the, like, why would I want to know? Takes everything away from it. The process? I like the process. So the process is different, right?
1:04:54Steph McMahon:But ultimately, like, as a fan, you know, and again, but it depends on the story. Like, sometimes I'll know what's happening and I'll know what's coming up, right? And that's fun, too. But I'm more like to be surprised. Okay. Yeah. I like to go on the ride. Yeah, I feel that. You know? Yeah, yeah. See, you're watching a show, you don't want to know the finish. Right. Yeah. I was watching at the garden and Lin-Manuel was next to me. What a lad. He's so fun. Great lad. But we got into it. Oh. It was so fun. Like we were just two fans and just going at it the whole time. It was really funny. Oh, that's great.
1:05:34I had a lot of fun interacting with him like that.
1:05:37Steph McMahon:It was really fun. And he got right into it. He's a big Dom fan. But he says he's not really a babyface fan, but I find outside of Dom, he is. Yeah. It seemed to me, and he could correct me. But he's such a big fan. Yeah. And it's so great, and nobody understands storytelling like Lin. Oh, my God. And it's like to be able to, I forget even what happened, but at one point I said, take that, Lin-Manuel.
1:06:11Steph McMahon:just having fun you know because i get to be a fan again yeah and that's the best it is the best it really is it is the best getting to be a fan yeah and get to i get to sit in the crowd yeah you know do you get hassled they're great our fans are great yeah it's at big shows sometimes in between matches there'll be like it'll be like a meet and greet a little bit yeah but that's okay for whoever's around or their kids or whatever like that's no problem but everybody's so respectful i love our fans i've grown up with our fans they're the best yeah they're so passionate they are they really are i had a friend of mine who's a huge fan text me the other day and say steph all kidding aside have the women surpassed the men um i find no offense not throwing the lads under the bus there's some great dudes and there's some great up-and-coming dudes when i look at the future i go i see i think the women are going to be main event and more manias than the dudes because i think the the well of potential there's there's a lot of talent and they're just such colorful personalities and all very athletic and all like they understand the psychology in ring psychology which is there's a lot of care i think put in and uh and there's a lot of thought put into people's characters i feel and i think they care a lot yeah and there's just there's there's just a lot of there's just a lot of life there's just a lot of life in that division there is a lot of life a lot of life and there's a lot of stories to be told and uh and we're we're getting to tell them and it's awesome it's an awesome awesome time it is are you ready to hold wwe history in the palm of your hand tops is bringing you closer to the action than ever before with wwe tops now highlighting the biggest matches and milestones from wwe shows and ple's throughout the year tops now is enhancing the fan experience by connecting collectors to the superstars and spectacles that ignite their passion.

1:09:24Steph McMahon:let's do a blind ranking of the top five greatest irish athletes of all time and remember once you use that slot you can't change numbers so be careful oh so this is blank so she's gonna say names all right and then whatever name you have to put them in a rank without knowing who's coming next so it's very tricky it's very tricky yeah all right it is So the first one is PGA legend, Rory McIlroy. All right, let's put him at four. One of the all-time great boxers, Katie Taylor. Number one. I'm just going to put her at number one. For what she has done, amazing. I will, yeah, and she's so nice. Number one.
1:10:09Legendary footballer, Roy Keane.
1:10:15just because not because he isn't a legend just because I'm not that much of a football person I'll put him five
1:10:21Steph McMahon:one of the greatest to ever do it Conor McGregor you still my five
1:10:33three
1:10:35Steph McMahon:and of course WWE legend Becky Lynch oh crap two Damn it, Katie. But she's nice. You got me, Katie. Honestly, I think I've been so great for so long that I'm taken for granted. And I think that's part of it. I think sometimes when you hold up a mirror of greatness to the world and they can't see themselves in you. Right. They just see this something that's so unattainable. Because you're too perfect. because I'm too great and it's unattainable. Yes. And they don't like it. You need to be relatable. Exactly. Yeah. I'm not. You're not relatable. You've gone into that. Too good. Yeah. Yeah. They were with me on the client.
1:11:22Steph McMahon:I would say stratosphere, but then Trisha's going to think that's a reference to her. Which is another person that I put on the shelf. I know. I know. Another person I put on the shelf. And an excellent match. Excellent match. It was a great match, but I won it. You did? I did win it. You did? But, you know, you just, you climb the ladder. They like it. Because they can see them. Because you're climbing. You're struggling. They're with you. And they can see themselves. Yeah. They're like, I can climb too. They're with you in the climb. And then you get to the top. And they're like, oh, wait, no.
1:11:49Oh, trust me. I understand this. I would have given up by now. Yeah. No. And now you've got perfection. Heavy is the head. Heavy is the head. Yeah. Where's the crown? You need the crown. This stage. Yes. Might be infringing on other people's gimmicks, but, you know.
1:12:04Steph McMahon:It's all good here. Yeah. This is about your story. Yeah, but I will get that title back because it's my baby. Yeah. It is my baby. So that's your baby. And hopefully one day that briefcase. So maybe you can't have another baby until you win. Until all the goals. All the goals are attained. You know, I can always come back. You could. See everything. Also. Also true. I can always come back. I mean, you made a very solid comeback. I would say I have done the best work since I've had Ru. Colby and I talk about that all the time. Just three years of just on a plane every week, on the bus, four days a week, doing shows all over the country.
1:12:54What were we doing? How did we do that? Right. But it was awesome.
1:12:59Steph McMahon:Yeah. It was so awesome. And she was just everywhere with us. Yeah. Everywhere. Like in the time before the show, we were at every kids museum and every city across America and every zoo and every park. Yep. That's what we did. Yeah. Yeah. It was hard. It was very hard. But you didn't think of it at the time as being hard as well. That's the other thing. You look back and go, how the hell did we do that? That's right. That's right. I just hit my face in the mic. I've done it three or four times. Normally I only do it once, but it's been happening a lot today. That one was aggressive. It feels aggressive when it happens.
1:13:42Steph McMahon:It's always surprising. At least that one was intentional. I don't know. I feel like maybe these aren't fully stationary. Maybe Adam Pearce is somewhere with a mechanism. Maybe. Driving it up to your face. Do you think he would get involved in this podcast? Like right now, knowing you're here, you think he'd try to sabotage him? Oh, if he knew, if he knew, if he knew, he would do something. Does he assign the referees? Like, does he assign Jessica to be your referee every time? If he doesn't, who does? That's the question. I mean, I can think of a few people. I can't think of any. I'm going to pick up that phone.
1:14:21Steph McMahon:No, no, this has nothing to do with me. This is everything to do with Becky Lynch.
1:14:29Steph McMahon:so coming back around to how we started this very intriguing conversation that i have enjoyed very much i do want to know a little bit for our viewers right like you have been through so much in your life and you have it's been a totally colorful life it's been a very colorful colorful Very colorful. Think about like. But I'm very lucky. Yes. And you've, I mean, remarkable your journey, right? And where you've started and trying to get in. Well, even further back, right? And, you know, not feeling athletic and, you know, struggling with, you know, your appearance and how you felt about yourself and learning how to eat well and all of the trials and tribulations along the way.
1:15:16Steph McMahon:training with Fergal and what that was like and maybe some of the lessons you learned from him then that still apply now because there ever been a moment now where you see something with him or you've done something where you're reminded of a moment way back when gosh I don't know I think the two of us and JD included because yeah I've known him since he was 12 since he was yeah I remember the first day he came down to class he's been wrestling since he was 12 and he was he was tiny he was so little he had to hit the middle rope um and everybody just loved him and and just all three of us seeing where we are now like after uh elimination examination chamber when Ferg got back and I had just gotten back um after being robbed and uh and we just had a hug and he was like oh I'm so proud of you and I was just like look at us look at us like who would have thought right who who would like I would always would have thought that he would end up here of course he was going to end up here you just saw him and you saw the way he moved in the ring and he had this presence about him and he was always in great shape and of course he was going to end up here and the fact that we both have and now JD as well and now that we've got Lyra here and of course we've got Seamus who started it all just it's uh oh it's incredible it's so how does it happen um is there a is there a mindset of it is going to happen there's no other choice or is it a drive is it um a belief in yourself and your abilities like Like not everybody does make it.
1:17:05Steph McMahon:So what do you think are the key drivers? We're very lucky. At luck, right? Of course. I know for me, it's kind of different because I gave it up for seven years. Right, in between. And all of the different jobs that you tried. Yes. Right, including flight attendant, which I think must be a very challenging job. Yes. Yeah, God, I think it would be. And bartender. Yeah. And everything, yeah. And, you know, in a weird way, so in a weird way, I just feel like some sort of magical destiny, you know? Yeah. Or is it that?
1:17:44It's both, I think, you know, I think, I think you have to, there's some sort of magic behind it all. You know, I can't take credit for anything. I suppose you can control what you control. And I think when I was younger, I probably would have been like, it's all me and my hard work, you know. But I think that you just can't give yourself that much credit, you know. I think sometimes you're just lucky and sometimes you're blessed. But I think you have to work as though you're not. you have to work as though it is all uh it's all up to you and that things either succeed or they fail because of the hard work that you put in and and sometimes that pays off i think a lot of times that pays off i haven't seen too many times where it doesn't pay off in one way or another and maybe you don't get to where you're going but maybe you land somewhere pretty close or maybe you land in different field but I don't think that work ethic ever fails you I agree with that um but I do think there's so much so much has to be perfect in the in the universe and it just feels like magic the fact that I ended up where I ended up at the time I ended up there having given up at 19 because I didn't think that what I wanted would be achievable and then I land in NXT at this time when Paul had taken over and I remember seeing you yeah and nobody was like this girl's gonna be a start I was like what is steampunk yeah yeah there you go At least that's what you remember me from because there was some rough times before that.
1:19:46Steph McMahon:And what I remember is how good I thought you were. Oh, wow. Because when you first came out, I was like, I really was like, what? I really didn't know what it was. And so I was kind of a little more confused as to the gimmick. But then I was watching you and I was really impressed. Oh, thanks. And I was like, oh, wow, I see why people are getting with her. She's really good. and you've only continued to get better and better and better and better. And you clearly are one of the goats. Thanks. And it's not just you, sir. It's not just me saying it, but you can add me to the list if you would like.
1:20:23But, like, I don't know if you remember, but there was, like, so many awful gimmicks on the way to getting there. There always are. There always are. Terrible. And I remember just like trying to figure all of it out and some by some miracle made it made it through. And look where you are. And yeah. And look, but I will also say that a lot of that, I think, that saved my job, apart from the wonderful people that saved my job and kept me employed, was an attitude of not being above anything of, of, okay, how can I like, okay, all right, look, I might not be the most athletically gifted. I'm not going to win a modeling competition.
1:21:09I'm not going to win a physique competition. Um, but like, how can I, how can I show that there is, there is some glimmer of hope. And it was like, okay, I have to be in the gym more than anybody else I have to be in the ring more than anybody else I have to be in the promo ring or the promo room more than anybody else and it was always just trying to find that okay I'm going to be this rosebud for Adam Rose how do I how do I be the best rosebud yeah you know what I think a lot of that is I think that I think that helped a lot like for sure I see I see it with with the person I see it the most with right now actually is maxine because i'm like she she got called up to the main roster without having six months of training as a professional wrestler yeah and has now been working and she has put in the work she put in the work and beyond the work that she's put in the attitude that she has like i remember just seeing her and being like she's so lovable yeah she is so lovable and like the audience loves her because she's the most stunning she is person yeah just absolutely gorgeous she also like doesn't take herself too seriously she's willing to be a goof she's she's willing to do this and she's just willing to go out there try fail even though she doesn't but even if the audience sees her fail they're like oh come on yeah they're with her yeah oh and then when she does something really good they're like yeah yeah she did it you know but the attitude that she has you know like you can tell her anything she wants to learn she wants to get better she wants to improve so you know i think i think i think if you I'm not saying she doesn't have talent.
1:23:13She has lots of talent. I didn't have talent. So if you don't have talent, I think you could. You have had plenty of talent. Well, you know, I don't think I'm naturally talented. You are. Particularly at anything. You are. Fine. Okay. This. In particular. What? Wrestling? Yes. I have an acumen for it. Like I have a good mental capacity for it. I understand. I understand. Also physically execute it very, very well. Physically, yeah, yeah, yeah. That wouldn't be my strong point, I don't think. But that's what I'm saying. Like, you actually are... I mean, I know how to do all the things. If you talk...
1:23:53I have a good mind for it, right? But I don't, like, I never had a natural skill for it. I maybe have a natural skill for communicating and that part of it. and that the the the the ability to be vulnerable uh with the audience i'm a very hurt on my sleeve yeah person much to my detriment uh much to my detriment um but uh but but i think i think that can also help with with the audience and getting to know you and all those kind of things in that communication but as far as the in-ring stuff never really had that much of a talent for it but what i did what i like rolling my eyes but i worked shaking my head but i but you worked but
1:24:43Steph McMahon:i worked and even if whether or not you had this natural ability or not you worked to improve i worked to improve you worked your butt off and had an attitude of like oh no tell me tell me what i'm doing wrong you're very coachable how can i get better right how can i learn i want to know all my mistakes and i still want to know all my mistakes because i still want to improve i still how do I tell the best stories? How do I, how do I get the best matches? What am I, how do I, how do I reach the next level? Or how do I help other people reach the next level? And I think kind of having that attitude really helps because I think sometimes people want the natural talent.
1:25:22I think that can be a bit of a curse sometimes, you know?
1:25:26Steph McMahon:Sure. Cause I think if you're, if you don't have to work as hard for it, do you appreciate it? Yeah. Yeah. And then if you have a thing that people are like oh you're so great you're so great you're so great you get in your head oh i'm so great and then that can mess you up and then that can can mess you up whereas if you're like oh i'm a talentless schlub i mean when i think of you that's what i think anything anything that happens from there is a bonus you know and then you're like oh this is great look at this i mean that's one perspective i have kin's mindset i guess right you know nowhere to go but up nowhere to go but up yeah now i understand you know feeling like you're already at rock bottom yes so don't push me down anymore no no you do it to yourself but i do i think that's it's it is consistent among the people who that we've interviewed is that work ethic and that drive but you're adding another piece to it which is the attitude yeah you know and that's that's really important too and it's it's humility um it's you know never being too big for the job like you said no matter what the job is you're doing everything you possibly can to study to get better to learn to grow in every different facet yeah and there's so many different facets in our business oh so many i mean it's it's never ending yeah it's never like a treasure trove and it's but it's and it's constantly evolving yes that also and as is the audience yes you know as is the mechanism for delivering the content like as is technology right like everything continues to evolve but who the audience is and what they like continues to evolve as well trying to get hip with the kids But thank goodness we have kids because like I would never know what anything means.
1:27:25Yeah.
1:27:25Steph McMahon:I mean, mine's five, so I don't know. No, it happens. Like you'll see. I mean, I'm down with K-pop demon hunters. Yes. Same. It's about the right time frame. Gabby's dollhouse. All that stuff. Yeah, I'm out. I'm out. But then around the business, you know, we've got Javon Evans. Oh, I know. Who's 21. Who's like my daughter's age. Yes. Almost. Yes. Like crazy. He's younger than my wrestling career. He's with the six. He calls me mom. I did see that. I did see that. Good mom. He said, yeah, the red hair. Yes. Because I'm old enough to be his mom. Yeah. It's a great feeling. Yeah. Don't do it. I'm so proud of him.
1:28:10Steph McMahon:I know. I'm like, oh, son. I know. Look at you. Look at you out there, main event and elimination chamber. And I just think he's the coolest one. He is. He's so awesome. Like the confidence that he has and the ability that he has and his, his, his, his, his promo, everything. I'm like, this kid's a star. Right. And he has no idea. I don't think. I think he knows. You think? Yeah. He's got to know, man. You can't be that cool without knowing. I don't know. I feel like he doesn't know. That's why he's cool. He doesn't know. No, no. I, I have learned this. Oh. Because, so, when Brian Danielson was with us, he would always do these like different surveys amongst people, you know?
1:28:51And, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, you have different things, like who gets the best lady pop on a show? Lady pop? The lady pop. You don't know? You know a lady pop? So, you know, okay, when the guys go out and they take off their shirt, ah!
1:29:09Steph McMahon:So Jeff Hardy That's the lady pop. Jeff Hardy gets one hell of a lady pop. Okay. Jeff Hardy, hell of a lady pop. maybe the top lady pop really? yeah and then it was debates about different people getting lady pops I totally you know took that in the wrong way what did you think? popping for the ladies like the biggest female entrance and then hearing it called a lady pop didn't seem right no like it's in the crowd where the girls where the ladies Where the ladies go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? Got it now. Yes. Now it's clear. So anyway, and then there was one like, who's the coolest person on the roster?
1:29:58Okay. And we all unanimously said Jimmy Uso.
1:30:02Steph McMahon:Okay. And so then I was like, oh, hey, Jimmy, who do you think is the coolest person on the roster? And he was like, me, Uso.
1:30:14Steph McMahon:So you know when you're cool. I don't know what that feels like because I've never been cool. But nor have I ever really played someone cool, so it's fine. It all works out. You're cool? But I'm good with it. But I'm good with it. I know my role. I think I'm cool. You are cool. You are cool. And you made... I always tell Kobe, I'm like, I'm so cool. And Ru's like, you're not cool, mommy. Ru's like, you're not cool. I'm like, no, I think I'm cool. You're cool. I think I'm, no, no, no, no. You are cool. You are very cool. Oh, thanks. Yes. Look at your pants. I do have cool pants. You have a cool look always.
1:30:55Steph McMahon:Oh, thanks. Yes, always. Thanks. I love your different looks. Thanks. Yeah. Any different looks. Just trying to figure out how to look cool. But like, you know, you got like some real like, you know, like Naomi's. But you're the man. Like Rhea's so cool. You're cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're the man. Yeah, I'm also big time backs. Yeah. I'm also. No, no, I know. I know all the things. I'm also a big time becky right now. Which is not. That's like. You're cool. You're very cool. But anyway. Yeah. That's cool, folks. To try and keep you cool. But back to Javon. Yeah. But back to Javon. Back to my son.
1:31:32Back to my son. I'm so proud of my son. Yeah.
1:31:35Steph McMahon:Austin Theory. I think I told this story recently. Oh, he's so great, too. I don't know. I don't think. We've talked about it. But so he told me. Did I? Yeah. Okay. But so he told me how much I look like his mom. And I am sure he meant it like as the biggest compliment he could possibly give me. Right. Like he definitely got a hot mom. Loves his mom. He's definitely got a hot mom. But I don't know hot or not, but like he definitely loves his mom. And that was a very big compliment. But he didn't realize as he's saying it to me that that means like, yeah, I look like your mother. I am your mother's age.
1:32:12Steph McMahon:like that is it's like it's a compliment yes but it's also i'm a little older it's a nice reminder to me spring chicken spring chicken i'm gonna be 50 this year and look at how great you look yeah see september we need a chicken man compilation of every time she tells someone and they're like oh surprised no hot 50 but every but nobody doesn't sell the age everybody's like oh 50 like yes gosh i feel like 50 no she didn't i didn't sell it i know you're the first person 50 is 50 is young now yeah 50 is young we're all just it just keeps it keeps getting a decade younger like as i keep going up in decades and maybe that's because i just keep making this happens as well yeah i hit 30 i'm like 30 is the new 20 yep that's it 40 i'm like 40 is the new 30 might start stretching yep maybe not 50's the new 40 maybe we'll bring it down I mean I heard 50's the new 35 the new 35 I like that the new 35 ooh yeah Jackie's in Jackie's in yeah we're in we're in but also like how great right how great how great how great to be aging right you know because like just making it no you know what I mean like I feel like there's this There is this thing about aging.
1:33:39And unfortunately, there's more of this thing about aging when you're a woman. I'm kind of over this shit. Yeah. I'm so over it. And I'm so over everybody's... I'm just judgmental of myself. No, no, no. Stop that.
1:33:51Steph McMahon:I know, but I am. Stop that. And I'm like... We're talking about my friend that way. And I'm like, you know, these wrinkles, I earn these wrinkles. Earning, earning. I live these wrinkles. Yes. Like the wisdom that I have accumulated. I just don't see wrinkles when I look at you. I am God. You created life. You did. You have created life three times. You are God. Right? You are God. I mean, aren't we all? Yes. Times three. Like three humans were living in the world. That's true. Like having all of these relationships and you've gotten to see that. And then the things that you have put out in the world, like the differences you have made and you've gotten to see it for nearly 50 years.
1:34:33That's awesome.
1:34:35Steph McMahon:Yeah, it is. That is awesome. thank you yeah needed that perspective man i'm over this shit yeah because i feel like we're all just expected to like freeze frame especially as women especially in this instagram culture like all i can look at is my neck every time i watch this podcast i look at my neck and i'm like oh my neck looks so old and nobody's old lady neck you don't yeah but you you're the but I'm the one who's like, yeah, and I'm picking myself apart. Yeah, don't do that. But don't do that. But like, why do we look in the mirror and look at all the things we don't like? And then we compare ourselves to whatever this 20-year-old.
1:35:12The 20-year-old is one day going to be 50, and then she's going to have to. So let's just stop. We all just stop.
1:35:17Steph McMahon:Yeah, I agree. I love aging. Now I'm all about it. Okay. You know, I'll still use the skin creams. Oh, yeah, the products. You still want good skin at any age. You know what I mean? but I will embrace it. And also like, you know, we just, because we got to just, we got to just shed it. Otherwise it'll just keep perpetuating. Yeah. You know? Got to set the example. We got to set the example. Yeah. We got to set the example. And for your girls. It happens with, yeah. Well, yeah, I tried to, but now like it's, you know, when you're closing in. But have you learned nothing? It's one thing. And that's the thing.
1:35:56Do we learn nothing? I remember looking at my mom. when she was younger when I was younger she was younger obviously we're both younger and my mom I was like this is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life most beautiful woman and she would talk about her wrinkles and she would talk about and I was like what are you talking about you're stunning you're amazing you're the most beautiful woman that I've ever seen in my entire life and she would talk about her wrinkles and she would talk herself down and I and and so I was always like I want to have I'm gonna have so many wrinkles and then they started coming in and then I was like how cute is that though all right I can understand maybe what she was saying a little bit calm down a little bit but I do think it's important to embrace yes to embrace and I need to be careful with it myself because you know it's it's just gonna happen to all of us i know you can't just freeze frame and it's true although i feel like
1:36:54Steph McMahon:i've seen all of you guys like i i look at all of you and i'm like oh that's the ideal body the ideal look you know you guys are such athletes and always so ripped and you know strong and beautiful and like that's that's the goal goals when you say goals like that's goals I know. Ripped abs. She's stretching. She's all like, you know, all like. I just had a stomach bulk for. Please. We watch you in the ring. We watch you in the ring. And you look dynamite always. Yeah. And you have a natural gift in the ring. And maybe you didn't at other sports, but you absolutely do in professional wrestling.
1:37:38Steph McMahon:You really do. And you've worked incredibly hard to get to where you are and to be where you are. But you're also naturally gifted, I think. I think. I have a good brain for it. I have a good brain for it. Physically, I still, I've worked for it. So can you not set the example? Of what? Oh, of talking myself. So with that, here's the thing. I don't view it as a negative. So me neither. Well, what? Well, I don't think, like, for example, I look at the way Oscar moves, right? Right. And this is comparison, right? But I'm like, oh man, wow. Unbelievable. Incredible. The way she moves is how I think I move.
1:38:27And then I see myself move. And then I go, oh, oh, I don't move like Oscar. I have a different style. Oh, I do not move like Oscar. Oh, all right. That's what I think I'm doing. Allegedly I don't. But then I go, okay, but that's okay. That's okay. Right, you have your own style. Yeah, yeah, I have my own style. And I'm not like, I'm not naturally gifted. My hips won't like work like hers do, you know? And I don't, you know, the way she does everything. She's so cool. But, but I do, I have other talents and I am good at the things that I'm good at. But I, like I say, I'm not particularly great at the, at the, at the, at twerk.
1:39:15Yes. I don't like move like in a real like way that is real smooth. And that's OK, but that's OK. Not every wrestler has to move in that way.
1:39:25Steph McMahon:Right. But you are your own style. Yes. And you're incredible. Thanks. Yes. So what do you think is the most important lesson that you want to teach Rue? Or one of? Oh, my gosh. Oh, heavens.
1:39:46god i think i think i think what i want to teach her is not what really needs to be taught to her because just kind of inner you know it's just about being kind being generous you know um because i think i find that to be kind of the best quality in human beings and i think that's what we need more than ever is more kindness um and she's just she's just a good kind kid um i suppose other than that you know you want her to be independent you want her again another lesson i don't have to teach her is about being strong-willed because oh my god that's intimidating like you're like hey you know whatever it is you know hey put your shoes on and she's like no no and you're like and you see oh yeah terminate in her eyes and you're like oh oh no i'm not gonna win this fight you're gonna right yeah yeah like uh okay fine you know right or like whatever it is she she she yesterday i've been trying to teach her about money so you know she's been doing her cleaning her room and oh that's great saving up money and so instead of like buying her toys now she can buy her own toys so great to try and teach that and so yesterday we went to target and she bought you know her cody roads figure
1:41:24she bought this doll right and it was a tooth fairy doll and it had like a piggy bank and then it had a tooth thing where you put the tooth huh and it came with little coins and i was trying to tell her that the coins go in the piggy bank and she was like no the coins go in the tooth pot and I was like no no they they go in the pee and she was like no mama they go in there and I was just like oh I guess I guess they go in the I guess they go in the tooth pot you can go wherever you want them to honey but then I was also thinking she's right they go in the tooth because the tooth fairy would take right the tooth and it would likely put the money where money back and then it's up to the kids and i was like wow the logic right too right yeah they're so smart but that strong will of of the of the determination and the you know of i so i think the biggest lesson i i hope she trusts her gut so i think that's what it comes down to that's my long-winded way of saying well it's a hell of a question really i i i want her to trust her gut because i have never in my life gone i wish i didn't trust my gut yeah yeah but but when
1:42:48Steph McMahon:you haven't but when you haven't go i wish i trusted my wish i trusted my gut your gut doesn't steer you wrong i agree with that you know and it's all those i think back all those gut decisions that I made that changed my life. You know, there's actual scientific data that shows that there's a different type of, it was an Andrew Huberman podcast I was listening to, so I'm not going to get it right. Right. So this is one of those times where I remember hearing something and now here I am saying it, probably slightly incorrectly. But it's the type of like sensory cells that we have in our gut that actually can pick up smell, like taste different things that we don't associate.
1:43:31Steph McMahon:It's not in our mouths, it's in our gut. But like, so if someone has a particular body odor and we could get a gut feeling, like if they're nervous, right? And their adrenaline's high, our gut can sense that. And we get a gut feeling like, oh, something's off with this person or whatever it is. So the gut feeling is a real thing on top of just like instinct and intuition. Yeah. Again, listen to the Huberman. podcast if you're interested in that i'm sure i'm butchering it but no but i think that in general yeah right like trusting ourselves but so like what's one example where you didn't where i didn't oh because you said there's so many times oh my god probably just lads that i dated that's a great one oh my god how many times like how many times that you're just like yeah why Like, why?
1:44:23Like, or like, you need to get out of this. You're like, yeah, but maybe it's you. Maybe things will get better.
1:44:31Steph McMahon:Right, right. You're just like, what do you do? You know better. You know better, you know? When you feel something through and through. Yes. Yes. And that's like a real, whatever, tame one. I'm sure there's been so many other things. But that's a great example. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But like, you just waste time. When you're like, if I just listened to my gut. Yeah. And just got out of here, I wouldn't have wasted everybody's time. you know so work ethic attitude and trusting your gut yeah and that'll that'll get you god and then there's probably like a million times in wrestling where i'm like oh i should have done this but but part of me said like i know this is the play but you know what i mean and you're like well if i had just done that my god told me to do that that happens in wrestling i think all the time yeah but now thankfully thankfully listen to that gut a lot more yeah that's good well I hope you continue to listen to your gut and I hope that we do have the opportunity to in some capacity work together I'll be there so but it would be so much fun it would be so much fun and I just am so entertained by you I love watching you you know I love the heels anyway but even though you wouldn't necessarily position yourself that way I love your character and I love all the things you do with it how much fun you're having the way you're playing with all these different people and personas and and your logic which is undeniable I mean it's undeniable like it's just factual it is factual it's factual yeah yeah it's just I'm not crazy you're crazy that's right you don't see the crazy things that are going on around right yeah it's unbelievable people can't see it and You're just so clearly laying it out.
1:46:19I mean, how many matches have you had in total, like, that you would say,
1:46:26Steph McMahon:percentage-wise, let's say. So Jessica Carr, every time she referees, she screws you, right? Yeah. So, like, how many matches have you had with other referees in the past year? In the past year. So, like, Jessica's refereed 40 % of your matches, 60%. Gosh, look, these are details that I'm not sure of. Okay. But I can tell you I have won 10 out of 10 matches that haven't been refereed by Jessica Carr. Okay. That's a lot. 10 out of 10. That's a lot. 10 out of 10. Fact. Yeah. Undeniable. Yeah. Undeniable. You're undeniable. I'm not even sure that she has a refereeing license. I haven't seen it. You know what?
1:47:06That's a really good point.
1:47:08Steph McMahon:I've asked for it. Nobody showed it to me. And you need a lawyer to demand to see it. I'm just not a lawyer. but you need one. I told you I'll hire you. I'll get you a good lawyer. If Kim K can pass the bar, so can you. Did she? I'm not sure. I think. Did she not? I thought she did. I don't think she did. I think she passed it. Yeah. She'd be a great lawyer. Kim Kardashian on our programming as your attorney? Hell yeah. Let's bring her in. Let's do it. Let's do it. Let's do it. She didn't. Yeah, I didn't think so. She didn't? I didn't think so. Well, she can in our world. She will. She did in our world.
1:47:48Steph McMahon:Be fair. She did. Wait, she did. Well, she failed first and then she tried again. But I don't think, like hardly anybody passed it. The bar is really hard. I believe it's very hard. No, I mean, like I'm not trying to pass the bar. Yeah. Keep working on it. Kim K. Kim K is the answer. There we go. I mean, really. We love a crossover. I do. We love a crossover. You heard it here first. Jelly Roll, Kim K, get them on. That was an MTV News jingle that I just did. Wait, how did it go again? And there was like a typewriter somehow. Yeah, right? Yeah. Really? What? MTV is not really a thing. Well, no, it still is.
1:48:36Steph McMahon:It was Europe. Yeah. I looked that up. The Europe MTV? Again, yeah. Yeah, there was like a big rumor all of a sudden that MTV was done. And it was like heartbreaking to us kids of the 80s. And then I looked it up and I believe it's in Europe. Yeah. Yeah. They got rid of it. My youth. Yeah. Mine too. MTV was the best. It was the best. But for different reasons. I watched music television. Yes. Like I watched music videos. Yes. The Countdown? Yeah. Carson Bailey? But then it became more about like and all the reality shows. I did love Cribs though. Yeah. Everybody loved all the shows. But then it became too much.
1:49:22Yeah. Some of them were good. They were good. But like I wanted the music videos. Yeah, because you'd sit there with your VHS
1:49:32Steph McMahon:and then you'd record it off the TV. I loved music videos. Yeah. Like that's all I would do is sit there and watch music videos. The best. It was the best. It was the best. Do you have a favorite music video? It's funny. I was just thinking about that as you were saying it. Like I remember the original Dire Straits, I Want My MTV, like with the fan and all that stuff. It's hard not to have that iconic image, right? I remember Janet Jackson, like Rhythm Nation, and like, you know, all the cool dance videos. I always liked the dance videos. Paula Abdul with the cat, you know. like it's not you know i i liked the would you would you recreate the dance totally i can't sing but i can dance a little bit a little bit that's not in this moment i don't know the steps right yeah did you take dance class i did when i was younger yeah what kind jazz tap tone ballet oh wow okay so they're like the kind of the whole full gamut yeah you didn't do no hip-hop i did i did hip-hop also yeah yeah briefly yeah i used to do hip-hop yeah when i was 10 uh colin farrell's brother taught me no farrell no amen farrell yeah really yeah yeah had the biggest crush on him really yeah does he look like his brother uh no no blue-eyed really yeah yeah yeah anyway that's a great story that's a well my aunt used to babysit the farrell brothers okay colin and were they trouble so no i don't think so but she said like Eamon that he was always in the mirror dancing oh yeah Colin was always performing as well allegedly did Eamon go on to have a performing career at all well he had he had a dance school which is there was a it was a dance and acting school which is where I went when I was oh okay so then when I was younger and then but I uh I don't know that Colin went there I don't I don't know what he did.
1:51:34He did his own thing. Yeah, he did his own thing. He turned out all right.
1:51:38Steph McMahon:So Colin Farrell's brother taught you hip hop. Yes. Yes. Yep.
1:51:48Steph McMahon:He's like, I've been waiting for this moment. For all life, for all life. They asked me. Finally. See, good thing we didn't know that because that would have been one of your gimmicks for sure. Oh my God. Wow. It's not too late. Like, you know, Kangol hat, like it would have been the whole thing back then, I believe. I wasn't a good at it. You know who allegedly is doing some hip hop dancing is is Looney Lyra. Really? Valkyria. That's what we need to see. I think you're right. That's what we need to see. Yes. How about a dance off? That would sell tickets. It would. It would. I mean, I think it's a segment.
1:52:32Steph McMahon:for sure. I would love to see it. Yes. I don't know that I would love to participate in it. Maybe the judge. I would love to. What am I talking about? I would love to participate. It's got to be the both of you, for sure. That would be an awesome segment. That would be amazing. Yes. I'm going to text. That's the text. There we go. I'm going to come up with a few ideas. The pitches that we have. The pitches from the bitches. Yeah. Did you just change the name of the show? Yeah. Maybe it's a segment. Maybe it's a segment. Peace. Peace of the show. I love it. Well, Becky, thank you so much for coming on the pod and spending all this time with us.
1:53:16Steph McMahon:And, you know, really, I root for you all the time. Thank you very much. And I'm a big fan of yours. And not just your character, which is tremendous, and your abilities and all of your accomplishments, but just who you are as a person and how you treat people and how you are as a mother and the way you look at your daughter and the way you look at your husband. You have such a big, beautiful heart. Thanks. Just love, love, and I'm very grateful for the time together and to know you. Thanks, Maria. Likewise. Likewise.
