In short
The hosts discuss podcast recording tech (moving to ZenCastr), subscription/attention habits, TV viewing while scrolling (e.g., Severance), acting/NDAs and on-screen kissing logistics, then pivot to boxing coverage and live-event experiences. They also debate AI-generated podcasts, and end with a widely shared Coldplay-related workplace scandal involving a viral “embrace” video, plus general media/entertainment talk.
Guests
No guests are featured. The episode is a conversation between Romesh and Tom (co-host/producer). Mentions include Rob Beckett, Gordon Ramsay, and boxing figures, but they are not guests.
Guest backgrounds (mentioned, not interviewed): Prince Naseem Hamed (former world champion boxer); Alexander Volkanovski? (actually Alexander “Volkanovski” is misheard; they discuss a boxing event’s “Alexander” and call him all-time great); Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul (boxers/influencers); Chris Martin (Coldplay frontman); Rob Beckett (comedian/DAZN presenter); Gordon Ramsay (chef/TV personality).
Key claims
ZenCastr is “Premier League” recording; Severance is hard to follow if you look away; actors may not know motivations even while performing; Prince Naseem Hamed “mugged off” Tom on camera after a holiday memory; AI podcasts could be indistinguishable from real ones; the Coldplay couple scandal is funny but harmful, especially to families.
Notable examples
Tom’s red-carpet DAZN duties and awkward on-camera prediction with Prince Naseem Hamed; Gordon Ramsay needing four retakes; the viral “embrace” clip from a Coldplay concert; discussion of AI-generated “nonexistent” podcast clips.

2:14Romesh Ranganathan:and a dog hello before we start the podcast this is romesh here and um we tried to do something different with the recording we sent it to jt and my audio sounds like it's coming from a cave so I just want to take this opportunity to apologise I know it's slightly irritating, we'll sort it out for next time I actually feel really bad about it and the main reason I feel bad about it is because I've given Tom so much shit about it and it's the podcast gods have decided do you know what Ramesh, eat this so apologies guys if it's really annoying feel free to hit up Tom on the Instagram I'm not looking at social so just let him know if it's really annoying on Instagram or Facebook or however you get a hold of him uh sorry again guys bye love you
3:03Romesh Ranganathan:welcome to the war for now slightly difficult to sort of commit to what we're doing because there is the nagging sensation that what we're going to do will never sort of see the light of day this is a zen cast it's the first time we've done zen cast it's it's a delicious prospect yeah well i don't think it makes any difference to the listeners but um yeah yeah yeah if anything the only difference is that you are quite fuzzy on my one there's a sort of fuzziness how is my picture on yours fuzzy okay well yeah so so far it's worse um if you if you've been listening to podcasts thinking do you know what it's too crystal clear and actually i'm able to hear what they're saying too well well congratulations we've moved across to zen caster is then cast is seen as like the sort of pro fucking premier league of podcast recording material, right?
3:57I don't mean it's Premier League.
3:58Romesh Ranganathan:And then I'm making a little fucking brown butler now as I've had to figure my way around this. Yeah, but you're the best. I'm paying a monthly subscription, I'm now paying a monthly subscription, by the way. Don't pay a monthly subscription. We might go back to Zoom after today. Well, I'm on a phone. This is so naive. You've been lulled in. They've pulled your pants down. Well, I had no choice, did I? You just sent a fucking edict. See you on the Zincar. Hold up, hold up. I'm having dinner with little Jude, get his own car set up so he can do the podcast. Mate, I thought you'd get like a two-week, three-week, like sort of like neck rub before the fucking day you had to pay.
4:35Romesh Ranganathan:No, it's a two-week trial. There we go, mate. Mate, keep an eye on that. Yeah, I'll definitely in 13 days' time get a deep deep subscribe if I need to, 100%. My fucking bank statement is littered with subscriptions for things that I signed up to years ago that I've not cancelled. Lisa's still supposed to be getting flowers everywhere. You've moved us twice. Somebody in one of our old houses is getting a regular delivery of flowers that I'm paying for. Like a husband who's just literally thinks he's won the lottery because his wife's so... You know what? You know what? If it wasn't for the fact you send me flowers every fucking month, I'd have left you.
5:15Romesh Ranganathan:I love that you signed it from Romesh. You know I like him. I've got tons of, do you know the worst ones are the yearly subscriptions? Because you completely forget about them. I've been a member at Masterclass now for like four years. I'm at Masterclass. Steve Mines sucked me in. Yeah. I started watching how to do stand-up with him. Now I'm, I fucking went gold. Yeah, I'm four years in. I've got nothing. I literally look at it. I've learned nothing from Masterclass. Nothing. Can I say, by the way, I was the worst, I'm an awful student. I've no, you're aware of this, I have no attention span. Even Steve Martin, someone I absolutely adore.
5:52With Steve Martin, I've watched two of the lessons and I just drift off and stuff.
5:58Romesh Ranganathan:Why would I watch Masterclass when I can watch him in Only Murders in the Building? It makes absolutely no sense. What am I doing? Which is basically, Only Murders in the Building is essentially him messing around in the classroom or a really cool teacher. And then I would say I've watched quite a bit of the John Apatow one. I quite enjoyed that one. But yeah. I think, I think the, what's his face? Bradley Cooper's apparently doing one. I've been watching, I'll tell you what I've discovered is that I'm a thicko. It's sort of come to my realisation relatively recently. Why, why, why? Well, I've been watching, I watch Severance, right?
6:35Romesh Ranganathan:I watch Murderbot. Severance? I don't know if you watch Murderbot. Severance is fucking insane. I watch, like James DeFond, shout out James, who's a very, James adores Severance. It's good, it's good, but i haven't got a clue what's going on no i watch if you by the way there's a there's a thing now apparently in the tv industry in the film industry or not so much the film industry but the tv industry where you have to make stuff that is accessible to people that will be watching it while looking at their phone right that's a that's a known phenomenon now right double screen yeah it's like people shout out below deck shout out below deck the the premier program to watch yeah yeah but below deck isn't that's not i'm talking about people are making dramas that if you're not really you have like now it's a thing we make it you have to make a drama you have to hold the hand of the viewer this is like not everyone's doing this but this is like a known thing so that if you're what if you're just scrolling for instagram and you've got it on you can still follow follow the storyline so severance on the other hand if you look away from that for two seconds you'll never get back in i mean the number of times i'll be wound it i have to watch severance and then i have to like look up go online and spend 45 minutes trying to decipher what the fuck it is i watched what was that just why were there animals what room was she walking into right what do the names mean do you do you think as well like this is what worries me is like do you think the actors know what's going on they're just saying the words it's difficult to know isn't it because on the one hand, you like you read all the stuff about like, how they keep it secret from them.
8:10Romesh Ranganathan:So that they're said that there is much in the dark. But then I don't know, how do you know your motivations? Can I just say that that makes me think about Lost? Like, I was obsessed with Lost, we talked about here before. Like, imagine like on Lost, because obviously, everyone said that we know what the ending is, but no one can know not even the cast, right? We all know what happened to the geezer out of lord of the rings um who was let go because he fucking basically found out or something um uh what's wrong with you what's going on with you what no i can't remember his name dominic monaghan okay yeah but the way you go it's like you suddenly remembered your mates with him or something you promised you promised him you wouldn't tell the story no no i felt no but by all accounts him and someone else both got sacked because they sort of had come out and said, what happens in the end of a series?
9:01I think, something along those lines. Right. Right. If you were really good and in Lost and you played by the rules and you basically got through to the end, you'd have been like, what the fuck is this? Yeah. I'd have been fuming. So with Severance, that's what worries me. If I got an audition for Severance, brilliant show, amazing thing to be involved in, I'd feel absolutely mortified that everyone involved would have to, there'd have to be someone sitting with me explaining me what what my character's doing what i'm because i'd say the words i might be able to give them some sort of conviction but i'd have no idea what i was actually saying which is actually to be fair is quite a lot like real life and sometimes do you remember how angry
9:37Romesh Ranganathan:you used to get because you're worried that we're all going to spoil the end of king gary sort of screaming at us i can't remember how many nda's end up selling them yeah yeah we've we've shot seven different endings yeah obviously there's one that where terry runs off with uh john the butcher yeah uh there's a one that where me and you kiss which yeah thank you for being in such a good sport. By the way, I thought that was the ending. And why did we redo that like 12, 13 times? Just because your performance isn't convincing. Right. And also what we shot it, we thought it looked great. And then we did make the decision that it was more realistic if you were only just wearing a jock strap.
10:15Romesh Ranganathan:By the way, I Googled it after we did that. And apparently you don't have to use tongues like you said. You can just pretend. have you ever had to do a big on-screen kiss um i've had to do a couple yeah i find it very nerve-wracking yeah there's there's some people that i mean i think we've talked about this before but there's some people whose partners don't really like i'm doing it but like i i i have ones where like you know i have to really check with the other and this way you have an intimacy coordinator what you don't want to do is discover that you've read the scene is a bit more passionate than your co-star has.
10:51Romesh Ranganathan:And then suddenly you're going in fucking all guns blazing and they think it's just like a peck. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you know what I mean? That's the big worry. Do you know what I mean? Plus there's, you know, plus it's like, you know, how do you get your breath fresh? I know that sounds like easy. And I'm talking to one of the sort of scabbiest breaths in the industry. By the way, I need to shout out that this has become a thing that quite a lot of people messaged me this weekend when I was working, my first ever real bit of live presenting, I got quite a lot of people messaging me saying, oh, I hope your breath's okay.
11:25Romesh Ranganathan:Well, let's take a little detail from what we're talking about because I would love to talk about this, actually. Because it's something that you didn't really, and this is how I know that you're worried about something, is that you're quite sheepish about it. And then I, who I consider to be one of your best friends, have to find out about it from an Instagram post that you're now one of the DAZN correspondents for the boxing. Right, can I say, number one, it was a very late call that the whole thing got made official, that I would be... It was on the cards, was it? So what happened? You asked for free tickets.
11:58There was a loose talking about it, but it's been talked about before, so it was quite, yeah, it was late. It was a late... I was a late addition. I mean, literally the day of, it was confirmed.
12:08Romesh Ranganathan:Okay, so tell me through what your duties were on the day. so you're what did they do like a like a big sort of announcement tom's been added to the lineup sort of thing no no it was a very cool announcement for the rest of the broadcast team mine was just me sitting in my bedroom just sort of saying i'm going to be a part of it i actually did a cooler one but that didn't um that there wasn't enough information that they'd asked me to say a certain amount of things i got quite flustered and in the end i just had to sit down and do a bit more of a monotone one um okay but that that was so my duties were to speak to people get fight predictions just have a little bit of a to be fair it was a lot more hard work now it was a lot of running around like you know rumors would someone would go oh oh so and so's in the you know in this bar quick you're gonna have to run and speak to him and we'd run to that bar and that person wouldn't be there so it was quite a uh yeah it was sort of i felt very annika rice just sprinting around the box in and uh i mean it was a an amazing event to be at shout out rob beckett by the way well beckett was very good with his time he did about seven interviews um because we were really struggling to get you know anyone else sort of take part uh can i say there was a few people who were actually just quite rude um do you want to give names and then we can beat them out i'll give no i mean i i don't firstly um which was heartbreaking because he's literally one of favourite fighters and favourite sportsman ever.
13:30Prince Nassim Hamed was absolutely I'd go to first fight. Well, number one, like, a few years ago, I bumped he was staying at a hotel I was staying at. I was on holiday with Catherine. He was staying at the same hotel. That was coincidence, was it? No, I wasn't stalking him. And but he was really, really good with his time. I chatted quite a lot to him. He was very affable, very lovely. Probably too much. He was probably too welcoming. I probably sort of lingering around a little too much but anyway he was yeah i don't think that's
14:00Romesh Ranganathan:the fault of him being welcoming you can always make it you know you can always say thank you very much for your time and leave yeah so what i would say to you know is just before you get into this story i think we know the reason that he behaved like this on the night now so no no no but no no but to be quite no i mean yeah let me just so so he was there a week we were there for the whole week and when i say that i'd see him at breakfast and say hello we talked about boxing when we talked about whatever football, but I'd say enough that, anyway, he, so they said, let's get this out in the open, on more than one occasion, you've described him to me as a friend, but anyway, go on.
14:38He was going down the red carpet, someone said, oh, it's Prince Azim's next, I actually got quite excited, because he's very charismatic, he's amazing to talk to, and had some amazing conversations.
14:47Romesh Ranganathan:And you thought you had a rapport, I imagine you turned to the production team, and you're like, okay, right, boys, relax. Because let me tell you this, a little bit of a relationship with this fella, so get rolling because I think this could be some gold. You know the fucking thing, and I adore you, right? I wish to God that that wasn't true. That literally, verbatim, is pretty much exactly what happened. I'd had like a couple of interviews that had been quite tough going. They hadn't really, you know, people sort of were just, you know the boxing crowd can sometimes anyway i thought oh it's princess him i've got a bit yeah exactly i've got a bit of rapport this will be a laugh yeah so on camera he comes up he's with his sons and some other sort of people and he said i said oh yeah you're right i jump in hello mate how are you and he said he looked at me in a bit of a funny way and then oh god and he said uh i'm doing it but i want my you know my my guys my friends you know these my sons my people with i said yeah of course we'll jump in and the director goes right rolling action and i go obviously um i know this guy uh from holiday a few years back god tom and he looked at me and it was this is a moment where i know that i'm david brent he looked at me and he paused and he held and he looked at me when i'm gonna be honest mate i don't remember you bruv yeah and everyone laughed like the crew laughed everyone he was with laughed everyone apart from me and prince why would you why would you put yourself in that position because i'm a fucking idiot like that it's so dumb first of all even to to go to that as a shared memory to then to decide to broach it first on camera it's it's so mad yeah but wouldn't it in my head it would be organic and he'd go oh yeah yeah yeah yeah you're the guy with all the croissants or something like that right you know that didn't happen uh so i then went oh you know you remember and i sort of went to say and he went brother i don't remember you and then one of his other people laughed with him right was really like laughing to the point they were doubled up and i said anyway tonight's fight um who do you think's got it and he was sort of staring at me then he went ask if we're going to do it you have to ask everyone and there's like sort of 10 of these people and they're and now i'm like oh this is this is so shit this is so shit and then um i asked him finally would you go okay okay so that's your prediction random number one what do you think no you know the trouble is i over compensate this is why you'd be so better at this stuff than i am i overcompensate by being overly nice i'm like here we go how are you doing mate you're right um you have to do that you have to do that you have to do that it was absolutely like my soul was dying and he was still and then he whispered to someone and they'd all laugh and then anyway i got to him at the end your soul couldn't have been dying because you already sold it to go on design
17:49and finally i asked him and he just laughed and he just went uh he's i've got no idea man it's boxing anything could happen and then he went brat and he just walked off all and they all laughed as they walked off it was just uh yeah so that was the first do you know the problem is is
18:06Romesh Ranganathan:I know I've given you a bit of a hard time but the truth is by the end of the fact that you're after an interview you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position but that being embarrassing Tom it's not on you mate I think the holiday thing was a horrendous error of judgment but also I was saying this actually let me just say it dawns them and I've said this on this podcast and I actually, afterwards, I was like, look, I'm not going to, I saw Beckett afterwards, I told Beckett the story, very much like you, Beckett laughed, but then Beckett went, that is a thing he's done there. Yeah. But Beckett is also like you, a lot more experienced at that.
18:49I'm not that, you know, I just assumed if you're nice and you had a bit of a laugh with someone, they'd have a laugh back. But if you're affable enough, then that's stupid, that's naive to think that way. Do you know what I mean? It's not, Tom,
19:00Romesh Ranganathan:it's not naive, okay? Like, look, I was taking the piss out of you about the holiday thing. it's not naive for your default position to be, this person might be civil. I think in the last three weeks, I think it's on him. no, no, but it's not just him. And by the way, I would need to say that, yeah, it was a bit of a prick move, but I actually genuinely don't, I think there was an element of it becoming like that because I then played up to a certain thing. And I don't think originally he was going, I'm going to be a prick here. Do you know what I mean? I think he genuinely was. I was showing off to his match.
19:34Romesh Ranganathan:Yeah. But, but it's also Prince Azim, I mean, we we know what yeah that's his that's his stick but my point being is like you you think oh actually maybe i i've got this slightly wrong like that actually being like being yeah i had an incident i was just showing you there you know uh a stand-up gig where you're like you know you think that that old adage of people taking kindness is a weakness you do start you get to a place sometimes you go actually maybe like this is maybe i should have i could And by the way, I mean, you know me very, very well. There's things going in my head as Nazeem Ahmed's talking.
20:10I'm like, I could fucking come back at you here. I'm not fucking. But I choose not to because I think that's not really nice. Do you know what I mean? And I don't know the guy. And also, you know, I don't want to get a clump off him. So, yeah, that was the first one. It's a very, like, have you ever done anything like that where you're just asking people for opinion? like you know you know we know coogan cassius here's his job coogan does that all the time
20:38Romesh Ranganathan:yeah i've been on the other side of it where coogan's asked me but i mean like i haven't been in a position where i've had to be like by the red carpet or whatever asking people questions no it's a difficult job i feel i feel sorry for anybody that has to do that because you are you are opening yourself up to i say i feel sorry you get you know there's lots of great things about the job but you know you're getting paid i mean i don't know how much you got paid but like you're getting paid to talk to people that you respect. But at the same time, as soon as you are like, you're putting yourself in a vulnerable position, you're on the beg, you're putting in an ask.
21:12Romesh Ranganathan:And then you're opening yourself up to somebody to just go, just fuck off, mate. So that is a, it's a difficult position to put yourself in. And you know, it's, I don't like, I don't like it hearing it as a mate. Cause I think to myself, this is Tom Davis, great comic actor, great comedian, like really well respected and on top and more importantly than all of that lovely person and now prince and seaman hamed is not is like mugging him off i don't like it but also can i just say like not like nearly everyone else that i talked to was very you know aside one other person who i won't actually name because i actually think that would be a bit disingenuous but for the most part everyone was very nice everyone up for chatting about boxing you have you have some great chats you had a good laugh with people but it you know gordon ramsey for example we had to record his or his interview four times because the camera guy was getting it wrong constantly um what was what was gordon ramsey's response to having to do it four times he was lovely i've made a guy everything you want he was so like charismatic chatty about boxing that's just very very sweet very nice very just a decent guy i'd say that like nearly aside that situation and also in a way with prince azim that is it's prince azim ahmed that is him right he's a cocky guy he's a fucking there was a part yeah like i go would i've wanted him to be a bit nicer and a bit yeah but also like i opened myself up to a right hook and i had to take it like a man do you know what i mean i should as you said no i get it you're a hero listen i'm a no no no on the helmet you wanted to go to the fight you wanted a bit of wedge and they said look can you take this mic and go around the red carpet like a bag and then we'll hook you up and you agreed to do that and they said and you said oh are you going to do an announcing and they go can you just do a piece of camera on your phone so it looks like you're sort of you're not actually officially part of the line up and you went yeah and you went and did it because if we're going to be really really honest we're still not quite sure if we're going to use you um it was yeah yeah i'd say it was yeah it was it was fun i've taken the opportunity to sort of be a prick but the truth is is so i think it's good man it's a good look for you you know like you're uh you're into your boxing it's not inauthentic do you know i love boxing and i will say this it was a it was a that was a fucking what a fight what a night like you're watching history in alexander you sick he's like incredible like literally what a moment just so I know did you call him Alexander the whole night
23:55I was just going by mispronouncing his surname for most of it
24:02it was a fun thing a very fun thing to be a part of I will say that
24:13Sierra has all the best active and outdoor brands for the super athletic stuff, like running gear for cruising up the trail. Woo! And the super athletic-ish stuff, like fishing gear for chilling by the creek. Nice cast. Fitness apparel to push for higher reps. You got this. And golf balls priced so you can afford to lose one. Or a few. Head to Sierra or Sierra.com for the brands you want at the prices that let you do it all. From athletic to athletic-ish, Sierra's got it. This episode is brought to you by Facebook. So you were scrolling on Marketplace, and there it was, the bike you'd been searching for.
24:52You sent a message, and it turned out the seller was super chatty, kind of funny, and an avid cyclist. The next thing you know, you're in a cycling crew. Well, a community cycling group. The thing about Facebook, you might find more than what you're looking for. From a browse to a bike ride, this summer, find more on Facebook. Everyone knows that unexplainable it factor, that smile that lights up a room, that wow. Well, it doesn't happen by itself. There's chemistry behind the charisma. Colgate Optic White Pro Series toothpaste removes 15 years of deep-set stains when you brush twice daily for two weeks.
25:28How? The clinically proven formula is powered by Colgate's hydrogen peroxide complex. It works at the molecular level to gently dissolve stains deep within the enamel where your brush can't reach it's proof that daily routine can be remarkable that's the science of wow colgate optic white here's my question i know it's not a boxing podcast but alexander is sick he's gonna go down as one of the all-time greats i think arguably yeah i mean maybe maybe the the greatest like what he's done in you know the fights he's had it's just but it's phenomenal it's like
26:04Romesh Ranganathan:And on top of that, if this is part of a media plan, I'll be absolutely amazed. But every time I see him interviewed, I just find him so charming. Can I just say, when you see him up close, he's just something else. He's so charismatic. When he was doing his ring walk and you're watching him come into the ring, he looks incredible. You know what? He just looks a million dollars. Also, by the way, I stood next to Jake Paul for a bit. That's a guy. I didn't speak to him. I get it but this is a problem is it your proximity to the zone means that you think that's an anecdote you know no but he's he's I'm perplexed by his his rise if he fights AJ that's fucking nuts bruv AJ shouldn't I mean I need Joshua should not fight Jake Paul this is mad it's mad yeah but it sounds like it's mad it is mad it sorry it is listen I don't have any skin in the game here it is embarrassing if Anthony Joshua fights Jake Paul it is embarrassing man I didn't even think Tommy Fury should have fought influencers now Anthony Joshua Anthony Joshua I always feel so sorry Tommy Fury's really gone through the mix have you seen his new documentary that's coming out no are they asking you to plug stuff on the podcast as well know to me to me to me text me and plug his bbc3 fly in the wall show i i do feel for him though that it's bright it must be hard your brother's essentially got like so charismatic he's got all the fucking he's an incredible boxer and then yeah he's sort of well he's very handsome he hasn't got it he's the sort of person i think i lost my first 10 girlfriends to guys like tommy fury hmm i mean all i've taken away from that is that you had 10 girlfriends i can't quite believe i all this whole time for the last however long i thought i've been talking to somebody who's on a level now i found out that you've had 10 girlfriends yeah but from the age of fucking now i suddenly feel like i'm the fucking beta on this podcast
28:20mate today you're not today you you enjoy your alpha status today you you've got the alpha
Read the full transcript
28:25Romesh Ranganathan:status i want to be i want to be seriously because i feel a bit guilty that i've been a prick so i yeah i'm just doing it for shits and giggles but the the i actually think it's really good man that you're doing that and i feel bad for you that prince seemed to that because it's out of order but like i think it's good it's wicked man it's like like you know you always like bigging me up about like doing the hip-hop stuff and doing the rap album this is like this is your hip-hop can i just be really really transparent here because and you're doing a nice thing right Like, you talking about hip-hop is incredible.
28:59You have podcasts, you're fucking informative. What I've done, right, is number one, I've shown myself to be, you know, the bottom of the right. Look, it was interesting. I was like, you know, I was watching other people do it who I was like, oh, fucking hell, they're mustard at it. No, don't get me wrong. Like, this isn't me going, oh, you know, poor man. I'll try things, and if I get it right, I get it right. You can't compare your podcast and your radio show when you go into an in-depth chat and chat to someone and you've had incredible people from 50 Cent to LL Cool J, some of the biggest names in the game.
29:34Well, you're amazing at talking to me, turning around to Gordon Ramsay and going, Adam, mate, who do you think is going to win the fight tonight? No, no, no.
29:40Romesh Ranganathan:But I think you're doing yourself a disservice. Because you're saying, OK, I'm going to tell you this. This is not me having a go at this person, right? because I get where they're coming from. But I've had conversations like you've had with Prince and C. That happens to me all the time on For the Love of Hip Hop. Like, you know, like what you're hearing on the radio is like the final interview. I get mugged off by rappers all the time. They don't give me shit. Mate, all the time. Like some of them are really nice, but some of them are like, so well, where the fuck is this? What's this for? I like fucking Denzel Curry, who I love, walked into the room.
30:19Romesh Ranganathan:I went to his, where he was doing a concert and he walked in and he said to his PR in front of me, how many of these have I got to do? I'm opposite him. Right. And then he sits down and goes, let's get on with it then. And then I have that Lupe Fiasco, who I love. You hear the, I've interviewed him twice on For the Love of It, but he got on the Zoom and he goes, when does this go out? And I go, guys, that next week. And he goes, well, my London show's tomorrow. And I go, well, I said, the show's not till next week. He goes, okay, well i guess i'll do it just let's just do it then shall i and then i'm like um oh oh oh lupe i love you then i'm like i'm doing what you did so like it's it's the same it's like that's what i'm saying that's why i empathize with this prince and sing thing because like you go into i'll go to as a comedian right going i mean mate what about fucking when nazi's fucking management treating me like a fucking absolutely like it happens like because the problem is is like you go into this other thing and they don't give a like you know and why should they but they don't give a shit like there's just some guy has come up to them and they don't know and he's going um you know like they don't even know if you're official do you know for all they know you're some little prick that's trying to well i mean design put a badge on me and gave me a microphone it's easy it's easy to get a design badge do you know i'm imagine they let you keep one for being there on the day did they no no no there was a lot of talk as well about this amazing jacket that rob beckett was gifted he rob beckett got an undisputed jacket from the zone uh as as a guest it was a beautiful jacket it's one of those videos with dubois didn't he yeah yeah yeah you were both kind of moving into that world now aren't you what it is what boxing yeah yeah i mean yeah he's probably more highbrow he's doing some really fucking high-end vts I'm scrabbling around on the red carpet looking, yeah.
32:08Romesh Ranganathan:No, I'm not having this. You did great work, man. I mean, look, I didn't watch any of it because I couldn't bring myself to watch a friend be humiliated like that. But I... I think you're...
32:25Just while I'm left with this little shred of dignity, sort of, let's just... Just holding on to that. What was your week like, my friend?
32:33Romesh Ranganathan:what have you been up to well i've spent the week uh filming the weakest link so i was in glasgow i was in glasgow and um every year i go up to glasgow for like a week or whatever just over a week and then we film up do all the weeks link episodes and uh i mean it's such a mad like it's mad because there's so many guests on it the team up in glasgow are incredible it's the first time i've done a run on the weakest link where i haven't drunk at all right so when you do it like you get obviously you do a couple of dinners with the team and stuff like that and then you know you're you're sort of pretty much doing like maybe there's three or four dinners and then at the end of the at the end of the series you have a wrap party yeah and i didn't drink at the wrap party i had to fly back at seven o 'clock this morning and um mate the difference in waking up this morning remembering what's happened at the wrap party I don't feel hung over I actually feel hydrated because I was just drinking non-alcoholic beverages the whole night yeah do you mean like oh my god man yeah it felt good I mean listen I don't want to I'm not judging anybody that drinks but for me personally you know last year I woke up I was pretty sure that I'd offended someone on production where I'd like where I got so drunk and said something to them then I've like stayed and then the other thing is the thing that you forget is i think when you're the host of something like that you know what it's like and then you talk to a member of production even though i consider i consider it to be two people talking they think i'm talking to the host now and then you're being bored like in my head i think you could be as boring as you want and they're sitting there going how do i extricate myself in this conversation it's like the headmaster coming on to talk to you do you know i mean i've actually i've actually wanted to celebrate with my friends who i've actually worked with this week and we were just talking about how we've managed to avoid you for the duration of the series now that will be the i'll just say that will be like the moment of any that'll be the massive moment for anyone just they get the chance to have a chat with you like a one-on-one no but what i'm saying is it's like when you're drunk yeah of course and somebody and somebody comes up to you you see them they're excited for about 45 seconds and then they discover how the conversation is going to be and that is going to be you spitting in their mouths as you tell them a series of anecdotes about what you've been up to over the last few months and i didn't do that this time i feel great about it you were never that where's a drunk you i always felt as a drunk you regressed a little bit you weren't an aggressively chat no but that's that's when i that's so it's two types of drunk for me either i'm conscious enough to go i need to be quiet here because i'm gonna make a dick of myself or i forget to make that decision and then all of a sudden i'm doing the fucking I'm doing karaoke thong song on top of the bar in front of the entire team do you know what I mean so I've got to be anyway I didn't do that this time so I was very pleased with myself what the main talk was over and above Weakest Link though most of the debates in production were all about this Coldplay couple oh yeah now you and I have not spoken about this no but I can't imagine anybody listening doesn't know what happened but basically yeah yeah they're doing the camera around the thing yeah and then this couple they focus on this couple and it turns out they're both married to not each other and they sort of said i think if they'd have had the wherewithal to just stay hugging right yeah and then the camera moved on none of us would know that that happened now right because it would have been such a non-event but their reaction was so it was so blatant wasn't it and then everyone around them was like laughing their tits off because they're obviously like oh my god their affair has been discovered it was bad when you first saw them they look so happy and in love do you know i mean yeah it's a he by the way completely melts and he lets her she's left to take the fucking brunt right well i saw i saw some like body language analysts or whatever and they feel like he some obviously you're watching what seven seconds of footage or something like that i don't know how long the clip is so you there is a bit of over analysis do you mean but like a lot of some people are going he's basically thrown her under the bus there do you mean and like the ducks ducks behind the thing and then the fucking philadelphia the phillies mascots did a piss take of i mean mate someone's done one of me and you there's an ai one someone's done of me and you from here but they wouldn't send it to me well the idea that i would be ashamed to be caught with an embrace in Embrace with You is absolutely ridiculous.
37:16So everyone there there was people from work, right?
37:19Romesh Ranganathan:Yeah, so I guess everybody... I mean, look, I've not read loads about it, but I'm guessing that everyone at work knows that that's happening. Yeah, but then, like, I just think, what about the big company barbecue when his wife was there and her husband was there and everyone just played along with it? Well, I guess everyone knows. Yeah, that's what I mean. But if he's a CEO, he's a CEO, right? Or, like, whatever, he's pretty high up. Well, he's not a CEO now. He's had to leave, hasn't he? He's lost his job. No, he has had to. but what's the reason for leaving well yeah he's yeah i think no i'm not i mean like i don't get me wrong is it true that chris chris martin know him or something i don't know about that that's the first i've ever heard of that yeah here's my question to you yeah do you have any sympathy for them no not really i think that it's not i feel so sorry for the fucking wife and his kids i feel sorry for her husband I think that's a shitty way to find out that sort of thing's happened for his wife he's going oh yeah off to see Coldplay tonight and she's like oh I actually quite like Coldplay yeah yeah yeah I couldn't get you a ticket even though we've got a box it's going to be all the work and you know what that gets I don't want you to have a bad time how about look I've booked tickets to see Coldplay on another night why don't we make that our night to see Coldplay and I'll just do this work one I won't really enjoy it you know I'll just go we'll go next week and now a week later she's basically down her husband and a ticket to Coldplay you know what she should have done is basically had she should have been able to go to Coldplay and replicate that with someone else but like more passionately that is a very like binary way of looking at it oh yeah will you fucking find some gazer and then you go do it what are you talking about well you take Trevor from your work to Coldplay tonight and then you know you ever grow up with Trevor I mean what I would say is, first of all, it's like...
39:10Do you feel sorry for them?
39:12Romesh Ranganathan:I don't feel sorry for them, necessarily, but I do think it's more nuanced than they're the scum of the earth. Do you know what I mean? By the way, can I just say, I don't think they're the scum of the earth. It's just a bit of dicey behavior. I wouldn't say that. Yeah, but, like, first of all, there's a limit to how much it's like, that thing is being discussed worldwide now right it's like it's been memed within inch of his eyeballs all i all i can keep thinking is them just looking to each other and go oh god the only thing that could make this worse is i got that fucking interviewer from da zone come up and ask us some stupid questions but but like so there's that hello mate have you enjoyed the concert i'm the fucking guy from the video you fucking idiot oh sorry sorry and then also i do like i do feel sorry for their family because you know whether whatever the because you know one of the things i was saying to when we were talking about it at work was you know you don't know what the background to their relationships are but even so those sort of things you you should have the right to put those things to play out in private do you mean but like if they were planning on keeping this a secret and they've got found out then that's probably a positive thing she was his pa though right or his secretary i don't think she's his secretary i i thought they were like on she was not as high up as him but she was still quite high up in the company was my impression it's you know the worst bit is actually the work the probably the one of the worst people in it is the woman that she goes to who really starts laughing like it's funny yeah the woman's absolutely cracking up yeah there was a rumor that it was a setup yeah but that's what i thought chris martin had set them up like chris martin sort of like is basically like catfish like uh neve out of catfish he's just i'm just gonna look this up the kiss care moment during the concert carplay frontman chris cut martin was engaged with the audience using a fan cam camera landed a man woman the moment they realize they're on the big screen their demeanor changed they become a viral sensation internet users quickly identified the individuals andy byron the ceo astronomer and kristin cabot his company's head of hr chief people officer reports emerged that byron's wife had removed byron from her facebook name after the video went viral astronomers stated they were launching a formal hr investigation i mean she's the head of hr just a few days after the incident andy baron had resigned as ceo and the statement emphasized that our leaders expect to set the standard of both conduct and accountability and that standard was not met so there you go that's it's not said um it's not said much after that but i mean look obviously the first reaction is it's like it is funny and they've got caught out and it's horrible for their partners and it's good that they got caught there's all that but what i'm saying is is like you just don't know i don't know there's part of me that thinks for all of the people involved it's the most i mean it's the fucking most public way i mean if they've got kids and shit like your parents your parents in a fucking meme do you know i mean like for being with someone else like it's fucking horrible also wasn't it like one of you think it was in the simpsons as well they like did i think that might have been done retrospective i don't think i think that's one of those i think it might have been they generated the image afterwards and then ai is like so fucking like go because you've seen the ai videos that sort of show what happened after yeah yeah but but it's so like fucking like you know you just look at you know in a relatively short time ai has gone from being like you can see it straight away to now i have to watch it three or four times before i think i can actually figure it out.
42:51Romesh Ranganathan:It's fucking insane. And that's in quite a short time. So, look, I reckon you and I, there's going to be a point where to do this in other episodes of this podcast, we go, tell three stories that you've already told before, sort of moan about your lot in life despite the fact you're doing all right, and talk about how ugly you are. Send. Also, P.S., can one of the guys sound be utterly shit? And that's it. You've got yourself infinite wolf and owls Sierra has all the best active and outdoor brands For the super athletic stuff Like running gear for cruising up the trail Woo! And the super athletic-ish stuff Like fishing gear for chilling by the creek Nice cast Fitness apparel to push for higher reps You got this and golf balls priced so you can afford to lose one.
43:49Or a few. Head to Sierra or Sierra.com for the brands you want at the prices that let you do it all. From athletic to athletic-ish, Sierra's got it. This episode is brought to you by Facebook. 45:03What do you think is the next? I was reading a thing, but they reckon by 2037, we'll be slaves to AI. What do you mean slaves to AI? like ai will just run everything it will just be the boss it will just jump me what does that mean though what does that mean funnily i mean there's like i don't know that we're because apparently people are using it so much now like even the other night i was working and someone was just ai and stuff like for work like going through stuff you're like shit this is like so that
45:33Romesh Ranganathan:stops you thinking for yourself well look it's going to get better and better look i'm going to tell you this now podcasts you can just generate a podcast i've already seen clips of podcasts that don't exist generated by ai and this is like yeah and like we've like just made it looks legit not not completely legit you can tell it's not not but this is a difference right so i think when it comes to this like but surely if you find out something's computerized as a human being that like i certainly find it the actual engagement as a human you you don't feel quite as much no but then like it depends how ethical you want to be about it i mean it's not even ethical i just think it's just like if you it because otherwise everything just becomes cartoons right it's got like no no no but it doesn't have to be cartoons what i'm saying to you is like there could be a podcast called like the the ox and cat right and then it's just suddenly you're introduced to these two people who've decided to do a podcast and you see the episodes and at no point did they declare it's ai i'm saying that that's a possibility and so then you're invested in two people if they don't find out they don't exist right so you might not i'm saying to you yeah but at some point like you're gonna go all right they're not fucking people they're not real like it's the same thing as like i can sit and watch an animation like toy story yeah it can give me a feeling and all that but at the end of it like it's a different thing from watching that from watching something that actually really had, like a biop, do you know what I mean?
47:00Biop, or something, do you know what I mean? A what? A biop, like a biop, like, you know, like an actual real, yeah, like a biop in a real story, someone's, do you know what I mean? The story of someone's life, oh shit, that actually happened, fuck, do you know what I mean? Looking at the end of it, like, what's the, I watched it a couple of months ago, the film about the, the guy who lives just outside a concentration camp, fucking is, or is one of the most harrowing films you ever watched I don't know it's fucking amazing won the Oscar for the best sound
47:32Romesh Ranganathan:but my point is you sit and watch that I went to watch that in cinema it stayed with me for about two weeks and then I forgot the name of it but I swear my memory's going I'm a bit worried about that anyway but that's because the actual thought of what had happened you know and how the performance was and everything every part of that but yeah the end of Toy Story 3 whatever you sort of yeah they're all going to go down the into the fire they don't but as soon as that's over you stop thinking about because they're not real they're cartoon characters it's done if yeah it's a great movie but my point been is if if if i was there's a terrible example yeah no it's a terrible example okay let's go let's go let's go to your like marvel right mark or anything any made-up character right you watch a marvel movie and is what you know end game whatever at the end of it you they're all fucking people playing characters it's not a real yeah it can be a bit sad it can be a bit tragic it can be highly elated by that moment but you go oh they're just fucking characters then they're brilliantly played they're amazingly well acted but actually sort of the nuance of saying it's a real story for a real person that's that stays with you longer i think okay i take your point but the point i'm trying to make is first of all you're commenting on the level at which that is now well first of all you're talking about a different thing what i'm saying to you is it is feasible that the ethics it's feasible that the ethics of ai will dissolve to such a point as that a podcast will come out and nobody knows these people aren't real right that's possible and and like what i'm saying is somebody if you're listening to this podcast right now the question i'd ask you is how certain are you that what you're listening to now is real how definite are you that this is two people actually talking to each other are you certain of that because that that's the point i'm trying to make right is that you that's going to get to a point where the inputs can become so sophisticated that you could generate what we're doing now for this hour you could generate that and and there wouldn't be a discernible difference and then to take your other point about made up characters right i'm going to use a very like sort of uh well-trodden example but up the first 10 minutes of up where you see the two of them get together they grow all together then she gets ill passed away then he's on his own see the two armchairs and then he's on his own in the armchair the other armchair is empty they are two imagined characters but the observation that is made on you spending your life with your significant other is so beautiful and so well observed and so well expressed that it does stay with you you know you look across at your partner or you think about somebody split up with or you think about you know the relation you might have in the future and it makes you reflect in a human way but it does the reason for that tom is that humans made up and humans made toy story right so the question is can ai without human input can it create something that resonates on a human level and that is you know that's something i don't know and actually already i'm out of my depth in terms of my level of understanding of it but do you know i mean it's like i do this is a time i don't know if you'll say it but like with guests like i'm so intrigued into AI.
50:55I'm fascinated by it as a I don't know much about it. I don't know when when you when you hear about people saying it could take over the world. You're like, well, how do I mean? Like in a sense, but then when you do one of the things that stuck with me is like the power of it and what it takes with you know, what is it like a teaspoon every time you type something in
51:14Romesh Ranganathan:15th of a teaspoon of water every time you put a question in? Yeah. So for example, the other day, I can't remember what I was asking about I think I was asking about a fitness routine whatever because I actually think it's quite good if you want to get a little workout Matt, did you put in something like, what is a good caption for a picture of my physique from a few years ago that's inspirational to people something like that you know what, I was like, I've managed to swerve this bullet can I just say, Catherine sent me this video, and I will show you this video, I'm not sending you this video because I don't want it to go any further and i love you do you not trust me mate you're not sure i don't trust me with this video this video is me like i'm drunk in this video i weigh around about 150 kilograms uh caffeine is winding me up taking a piss because i'm so drunk she's filming me i try to be oh my god i can't believe i'm getting into this but i'm fucking gonna do it anyway i try to be quite sexy towards catherine and try to be sort of like i'm sort of coming on to her to which she takes a mick out of me as katherine wood i then progressed to walk over to a mirror and say do you think i'm putting on weight jesus i clearly am and within that this is a this is a 22 second video uh so it do you want to have a do you want to listen tell me this cut you're first having sex with prince and seeing my meds best mate uh that would be better than than so i i i down some water she makes a joke about me being drunk I said you need to relax it's quite fun to have a drunk I don't think I'm even that drunk and she's taking the mick out of me I then sort of try to try to be quite alluring and sexy which is fucking disgusting I then make an observation where my gut is out and say do you think I've put on weight and then I progress to say right I'm just going to go and talk and have a big shit so within seconds she's filmed me going oh i might be uh oh this is listen so i might we might be able to get on tonight uh oh god look how fat i am i'm gonna go for like that and and literally she sent me this video and i sent a message back saying it genuinely is a miracle you're still here you're still with me i would say i would say to you you can't split up with her you know that don't you ever i never would i adore her she's my whole world i'm just saying you can't know somebody's got that video it's worth staying in the relationship to avoid that getting into general circulation of something mate if she was she she left me it's all over anyway i mean that video can come out i won't be around keep it like mate it was honestly i was like yeah so i put the video up as a thing to the picture up also because i actually didn't think i was in that bad shape like i look now and i've had fucking tests started like you know i test done around that time on my liver and my heart and they were both not in great shape do you know i mean but my point being i didn't actually see myself at that time as being that unhealthy i thought i was in the right shape well look i'm gonna tell you this though bro i mean i know you're embarrassed about the video but i saw the photo i thought you look fine you look fine you don't you look you look great now you look great then you know and look i know what i know what you're saying and i like there's a part of me that yeah i've been quite derogatory about myself and other people could take offense the the worst thing of that is not is the fact that the amount of visceral fat and health worries even now i'm i'm like i have that probably i'm still suffering repercussions of that but it's like the amount of fucking x like the shit i was putting into my body and the fact that that was just sitting on my stomach my heart my liver like you know i had like i was going to the doctor and getting some pretty fucking serious warnings and i didn't adhere to them until 2022 it's like yeah well look thank god you did huh well yeah i'm still here anyway the longer the short of it is we're worried about ai yeah yeah you know we could get to a point where like if one of us was to stop doing this or decided to quit ai could get to a point where we could continue the podcast without one or the other i don't think that would work i think it would just focus in on a very generic way that they say it's better and then maybe it's just very generic and fucking one no we are generic there's a truth about yeah okay uh would you like to should Should we do one email?
55:53Romesh Ranganathan:Let's do a nice email, boy. Let's do one. All right, by the way, Tom. Yeah. Somebody sent an email saying they'd love you to choose the end song. Okay. I'm going to try my hardest not to say that as an insult about my choices, but that's not your problem. This is from the Sheepdog. Okay. Dear Wolf and Al, my friend, let's call him Mr. Ox, has recently started his own podcast. i'll put the link in the email in case you don't want to you want to listen or steal content but no worries if you don't want to listen to it as i understand you're both busy men why the difficulties he's been facing is dealing with the critics as there's been a string of damning reviews i understand words such as nonsensical and phrases like a waste of everyone's time have been used this is real i don't think this is real but go on i've tried to encourage him by saying that not being appreciated in your time is a mark of a true artist and other motivational stuff, but I fear he's taking it to heart.
56:47Romesh Ranganathan:I believe he may be only half listening to the positive messages and focusing purely on the negative. It culminated with him saying he may throw the towel in the other day, but I talked to him by saying I was looking forward to listening to a few podcasts on my walking holiday. As a sad note, I've been saving up Wolf and Owl episodes, so I must have enough to listen to one a day while walking. He's rather an understandably sensitive to the opinions of these critics. I was wondering if there's advice he could give. for context the critics are his wife and dad um okay first of all jt can you blank out the name of the podcast because i think it's like you know i don't know how happy this guy's going to be about his podcast being slated like this but do you have any advice tom and let's not get into like a navel-gazing wallow about the criticism we get for this one because i mean yeah i i have to say that i think in in the world of podcasts now and i think in just life in general you know let's go back into the zone gate but um you are going to find yourself as soon as you put anything out there you have to make a kind of deal when you have to make a kind of make it okay with yourself that they're not everyone's going to like it it's it's that is just what it is and sadly the more stuff you do you know and any acclaim that might come your way will be equally matched with people who don't like what you're doing it's you know it's very much just a given into the industry in which we're in and I think I guess I guess the truth is that if he's finding that that difficult I mean if it is just pure criticism and there's not a real like he has no sort of positivity that's coming his way and there's not sort of more of an equal measure then probably it's best to sort of maybe just look at what what he's doing and what he's saying and and see if there's any change but you know even that in itself I guess the truth of any of this is if you're enjoying if you enjoy it then it that's what that's you know if people can choose to listen or not but you know like i think when you're when when anyone's doing anything creatively any artist of like whether it's you know someone's painting someone's putting out something musically or comedy if the reason that that you do the thing you do really if it's if it's true and it's it should come from somewhere inside of you that goes yeah that's a that's what i want to make and that's the thing that i want to do.
59:01And any criticism, or any acclaim, you know, they kind of just sort of pad into the insignificance, because you're sort of driven by just wanting to do the better, you know, put out the best version of the thing that you think is good. So I guess, if you want people to tell you how amazing you are, and how incredible you are, I don't think that I don't think this is the right way. I think you're never going to get that you're is going to be met with you know your prince nazeem's or gordon ramsay's it's the same coin we flip it up and catch it baby um absolutely yeah wombski um i'm going to tell you this this
59:41Romesh Ranganathan:is my advice to your friend uh your business is creating the podcast what's none of your business is what people think about that is none of your concern so your business watching positive commentary is as damaging as negative commentary your job is to create what you want to create and you put it out there and what people think of it that's not that's not on you you're a creator and you know whenever tom and i've ever looked at reviews of our podcast that is a mistake and it is a it is a result of in my opinion ego where you're looking and you're going i want to see what people think of this and i want to you shouldn't do that that that is you're creating a thing and in my opinion and so any you know you can going forward you can like talk to you the other people you do the podcast with the people you respect other people that do podcasts and say what could i do better and you can reflect on it but that should not be in my opinion fed by what people think when tom and i stopped you know talking about how we look because we're worried about what people are saying we shouldn't have done that we should just do it whenever we want is the truth and if people like the podcast or they don't then it's fine do you know what i mean so i think if you really want to do the podcast do the podcast if the podcast isn't any good and you want to stop doing it that is also a great outcome there are no wrong outcomes from this you know do it and don't worry or don't do it and don't worry that's my advice to you best of luck to you now my job here is done on the podcast tom i'm going to hand over to you to do the closing thoughts and i'm also going to keep it with you because you're going to choose our closing song today so whenever you're ready tom okay and by the way i can just say just before you get into this i just i do want to take this opportunity to say this it feels like you had a little bit of a hard time doing a red carpet.
1:01:44Romesh Ranganathan:It's a great thing you're doing. You're a great person. And don't be hard on yourself. All right. Well, I guess this is my thing. And retrospectively, it's very much one of those things that you look forward and you look up and you look down. And sometimes you look behind you. Fact is the road in which we're all traveling, no one knows where we're really going. We know where we've been. Sometimes we remember each turn and each corner, each traffic like each time we stopped and looked into the car next to us and thought hey there's Trevor oh there's Claire and then we went on with our journey never seen Trevor or nay Claire again I guess the truth is sometimes we think we're heading to a destination that we've always planned on going because we thought it'll be incredible sometimes we set the sights of ambition so high that when we reach them the anti-climax feels kind of deflating and that's what deflation is I guess it's a sense of hope that sometimes you reach and the candy floss in which you thought you were going to eat turns out just to be leaves, grass, all sewn together with mud and it doesn't taste very nice but still you might have learned something you might have learned that actually, you know what no journey is worthless if you take something from it no destination is unsacred if you have a little look around and think, well, that's exactly what I thought it would be.
1:03:08Or it's not what I thought it would be at all. Look, learn, listen. They're the three L's. Take them all, write them down, and most of all, enjoy them. Thanks, friends. I'm going to play out with... I'm very excited to go and see Oasis. So I'm going to play out with Oasis' Stand By Me. Great tune.
1:03:35Romesh Ranganathan:there you go so you wanted one of tom's choices and you got yourself something pretty edgy a little bit of oasis there for you don't know if you've heard of them but make sure you do check them out i think they've got a big future bright future ahead of them uh thank you so much for listening you're so ziggie about not having the song choice i don't like the song choice by the way i i i'm not a song got choice guy no listen business we've given the people what they want okay they wanted you to some choice what we've done Robbish is what we said we wouldn't do and you've given a person what they wanted I think everyone else will go why the fuck is the guy who feels like he's in a nervous breakdown it's a great song it's a great song it's very timely and fingers crossed there's not a video that comes out after the Oasis concert of Tom in some passionate embrace of somebody diving behind the balcony when he gets collared by Noel Gallagher's kiss cam fingers crossed thank you so much for listening to the podcast guys we love you very Thank you very much.

We’re talking… audio experiments, never-ending subscriptions, getting lost with Severance, Tom’s very first live presenting job at the Usyk vs Dubois bout, an awkward interview with Prince Naseem, getting mugged off by rappers, a sober Romesh at The Weakest Link wrap party, the kissing Coldplay couple, the prospect of AI podcasts and Cat’s video of a very drunk Tom. Plus, we answer an email question about how best to deal with criticism of your creative endeavours.
