In short
Behind-the-scenes catch-up and discussion of Something About the Ice Episode 7 (“Something About the Ice: Episode 8” bonus content). The cast focuses on Episode 7’s “firsts,” tone shifts (tender moments to chaos), and how it sets up bigger plot threads (Project Atlas, international station visitors, Director Dantes).
Guests (hosts/participants)
Erin McCann (host). Trent Shumway, Kyle, and Brian (regular cast). Mystery guest: Heather (returns; voice actor/performer). Additional referenced contributors: Ben (Fiverr voice performer; appeared in early episodes) and “Owen” (character referenced; also has a Christmas movie tradition).
Guest backgrounds
Heather is a voice actor who attended “One Voice” in Dallas, won a karaoke contest, and moved back to Dallas; she discusses her own social anxiety and how it informs her portrayal of Kendra.
Key claims
Episode 7 was the first two-part episode, first mention of “Ayshir,” includes an end Easter egg, and features an accordion playing Rage Against the Machine. The “300 club” is real (sauna at 100-below; supposed to be naked, though some wear underwear). Troll 2 is based on real Norwegian troll-station lore and is modeled after people Brian has worked with.
Notable examples
Bass’s authority vs out-of-depth during the 300 club sequence; Kendra’s gradual confidence-building; Bass overhearing Lawrence/Director Dantes; Trolls arriving and causing brawling/chaos; accordion Rage Against the Machine; Project Atlas seeds.

Today with us as usual, our podcast, Trent Shumway, Kyle and Brian. And just like every time we do have a mystery guest that we're going to introduce in just a minute. So we're going to catch up and then we're going to talk a little bit about episode seven. Now you're under control. Gentlemen, thank you for joining. Hey. Thanks for having us. Yeah. It's been a minute since we did one of these behind the scenes shows brian you were just telling us when the last time we recorded one of these was yeah it was uh september of last year it was the free episode that we put up with the uh the one of the station um occupants uh amy brummett and with everything else going on between uh the show just real life situations with myself and some of the other cast members have not had a chance to regather, but we figured it's time.
1:18So here we are. We had to get the band back together. And I want to introduce our mystery guest before we talk too much about it. But, you know, since we recorded and since the end of our last season, we all got to get together. So let's catch up about that. But first, I want to welcome back our very special guest. We have, I'm trying to make sure that I'm on. know what I'm doing. I don't even know what I'm doing. All right. Today, we have our very special guest. We've heard her once before, but we are so happy to welcome Heather back to the room. Heather, thanks for joining us. Hi, Heather. Heather's on mute.
1:58And we can't hear her. Oh, no. We've lost Heather. Yep.
2:04Oh, no. This is... We are so professional and amazing at this. Perfect. Technical difficulties. I think I forgot how to read halfway through that there. I just completely lost track of where I was and I'm like, cool. I'm just going to start talking now. Well, again, it's been since September. Do a sentence. Just do a sentence. Just do a sentence. Well, why don't we just talk a little bit about the reunion until Heather can join us and then she can come back in because it was so fun. We got to catch up with everybody in LA just a couple of months ago, right? Wasn't it June? It was June. The beginning of June, like we do every year.
2:39have the cast as many as we can all gather in los angeles um have a great day together and then have a phenomenal meal at um oh lord where is it where we go flemings flemings yeah and what's the name of that wonderful person who always takes such good zach so accommodating shout out to zach i'm sure he's listening well i'm gonna say he and uh he and no one hit it off they started talking shop uh at the at the who doesn't hit it off without well yeah it's gonna say true i don't know that there's a person yet so so tuesday is arm day okay and then you're back on wednesday got it all right i learned all about where where zach like bought a house and then sold the house and where he's moving next.
3:32Oh, amazing. Oh, I love it. And now I'm in the chat. Hello. We've got Heather. Well, I was sitting kind of down at the end with Heather and with Owen and a few other people. Trent, you were next to me as well. But we decided, Heather, do you remember, we decided we were going to create a Christmas tradition where we all like get online at the same time and we watch Owen's Christmas movie that he put out last year as we wrap presents. oh yeah so we need to make this happen that can't just be one of those things you say after too much wine no for sure i can't believe i forgot about it it has to happen because of too much wine because too much wine too much everything everything yeah wine and gin and whiskey and wait a minute you weren't mixing were you
4:21we all did yes and poor erin had to sit next to my stinky ass the whole day because I was like, I'll go and shower later. I'll go and shower later. We're at the restaurant now. Good thing I didn't smoke like three cigars and walk in the hot blazing sun in Berlin. You know what? How's my deodorant working? It's 113 in Texas. So I would take the... But with the humidity? It's awful. Heather was just here last week. Yeah, she was. I was. I loved it. Did you? 113? it wasn't 113 it's like 105 not that I love the heat but I was in air conditioning most of the time so we do have good functioning air conditioning here which is something I'm reminded every time I travel to places that don't need air conditioning air conditioning and you're like what do you mean the hotel won't get cooler than 76 degrees like I need it like you know arctic circle if it's time to go to sleep it's time to drop this thing to 64.
5:25That's exactly right. I'm not paying the bill on this. Exactly. So what else has been going on with everyone? Because we ended on a cliffhanger a couple of months ago. We all got to catch up in person, but we haven't done the behind the scenes podcast in a while. So what's been going on in everyone's lives?
5:46I mean, I've just been working a lot, unfortunately. But yeah. Kyle? how nosy aaron my gosh you could have asked you could have asked that before we were recording it's much like trent it's just been work uh luckily i got i got to see trent one other time before uh but in between uh when we all met up and then uh we had a little game night yeah heather as well and there was a lot of wine then too and there was a lot of this and a lot of that your wife was confused to that yeah it must still be in the mail oh i'm sure i'm sure yeah i'll let you know when it comes to you know yeah i'll i'll make sure i'll make sure yeah i'm gonna get something random in like six weeks from kyle with like seven stamps on it i know a guy we can do this we can do this um but no it's it's been mostly work but yeah it was great seeing trent great seeing heather it's always good to uh you know break up the monotony of just the the work could work and work and work you guys know for sure brian how about you you've been busy writing our next season or is it too busy writing the next season i've uh been mixing that up with a lot of uh home and house repairs that uh we're getting uh getting installed new roofs not that i put in the new roof or anything but um just just kind of updating the house uh so that eventually when the day comes that we do sell we get max value out of it but yeah um definitely have been working hard and um strenuously on season five drafting that getting that ready so hopefully uh well i don't want to put any dates out there but it is going it's coming along awesome and heather how about you i have been having just a great summer overall uh i went to one voice in dallas last week which was so great i got to meet so many more voice actors in the industry and the voice acting community is just the best people like everyone is so nice i knew that no matter who i walked up to they'd be welcoming and be like hi who are you um it was also crazy i found someone that technically i went to college with at the same time and someone from my tiny hometown is like friends with them.
8:05I was like, this is amazing. And I won a karaoke contest. Yes, you did. Which was fun. And other things in the summer, I went and saw my best friend get married earlier this summer. Oh, that's so nice. How fun. That was great. I got to be her maid of honor and sing at her wedding. And I got to hang out with Kyle and Trent. And I don't know, just great summer overall. We got our air conditioning fixed. hey all right all right yeah i didn't realize that time with if we have time for a side story i didn't realize when we moved in i was told that the air conditioning doesn't work great for cooling this house which makes sense because the living room has like a 20 foot ceiling i was like okay just the air conditioning doesn't work that well so when we moved in that was our baseline air conditioning doesn't work well and over the last four or five years it's gotten progressively like wow it really really really doesn't work well and then this year i was like this is ridiculous let's let's see if we can get it repaired or if there's something wrong with it and they came and they recharged the freon because the system's that old and i was like this has worked better than it ever has like it does actually work just recharging the freon that's all they had to do yeah i i didn't know that it was never good these are things that i have no frame of reference for i just know if it's cold enough or it's not cold enough tell us about your summer doctor oh my goodness um well you know anyone who's listened to the behind the scenes show knows that i've been manifesting a move for a long time we finally pulled it off we moved back to dallas i think we've been in the house here a month um so for context, we were about 25 minutes Northeast in a suburb.
9:57And so we still have the place out there on acreage and we're going to rent it out, but we haven't rented it yet, which means we've been doing a ton of repairs out there. So I hear you on the home repair plus trying to move in here. But my commute went from an hour and a half each way to 27 minutes each way. So I feel like I've my life back. Yes. We're so happy. I'm happy to hear that. I was going to ask. Yes. It's, just made a huge difference as i say i'm so happy um if you can hear my children screaming in the background just pretend that you can't because we are so happy so there's no so you're saying it's not a situation where someone might not be listening to directions you guys are just so happy that's we are just so happy i would say my son is not following directions because he's so happy he's overwhelmed oh and that joy is probably causing him to not follow directions i think i live in that life as well actually i have a lot in common well because you just like me our kids have big age gaps so it's like the oldest child is sort of like the third parent and just listening right before we started recording i got a text from my daughter saying can you please come downstairs because my son is not following directions so that's I'm just pretending I can't hear the chaos behind me.
11:13It's just, it's every day actually. Well, when we feel better, we can't hear it. That does make me feel better actually. Cause I'm just imagining our lovely listeners that are Patreon subscribers. And they're like, I cannot believe that I have subscribed to listen to children fight in the background. There's just a cartoon ball of dust behind Aaron. There has to be somebody who's doing that though. There's gotta be some weird sect out there. That's just like, you know what? I just want to hear children screaming. Oh, for sure. Oh, for sure. I'm sure you can find anything. I love that Kyle's video has frozen, and he looks like he's about to attack the camera.
11:49I don't know if that happens on the house or not. I had a little overload of so many jokes that I could not say, and I was just trying to fight it all back. And I did. I did. I hope you guys are proud. I'm proud of you. Okay, let's get back on track. Why don't we talk about the episode? Oh, why do we have to do that? I know. I know. We should have done a separate episode of just, like, catching up that wasn't like business, but let's talk about episode seven. And I just read the title and then I moved the page. I'm doing great. Now you're under control. Episode seven. Did you guys get an opportunity to listen back?
12:23I know we've got lots of episodes now. Okay. So first thoughts. I think one of the first things I noticed is I pulled it up to hear it again. And I looked at the timestamp and the entire runtime of the episode is 25 minutes. So my first thought was, why the heck did you rob them of an additional 25 minutes? Because as we go into season, you know, end of season two, three, and four, every episode minimum is about 50 minutes. Some of them are going over an hour. So, you know, it's just, I sat down, I listened to it. And just like I've said in previous episodes of Something About the Ice, I listened to the sound quality in the recording.
13:05And I remember now what I didn't know back then, because, you know, comparing the original sound quality production value from back then to what we have now, it's night and day. But everybody starts someplace. Everybody learns. I was just I was so happy. The other thing I realized was that there are so many firsts in this episode. It was the first two-part. It was the first mention of the Ayshir. That name was born in this. It was the first of our episodes to have a little mini Easter egg at the end. And as far as I am aware, it is the first time in any podcast ever created where somebody used an accordion to play Rage Against the Machine.
13:51So a lot of firsts as I was listening back. when I was listening to it and it's kind of the like chaotic brawl scene and I heard uh I don't know what character it was but I heard someone say like that was my accordion or something about the accordion I'm like I do not remember that from the first time through that was Ben that was oh it was Ben back before I thought I recognized him but he wasn't a cast member at that point right he was he was he was someone on Fiverr that I just I would hire to do little bits and voice here, voice there. Yeah. Was this his first appearance as well, Brian, or no?
14:24No, he actually did a voice for us on the very first episode when the station is being invaded by the U.S. military. Damn, I didn't know that. He's in the opening scene. Yeah. Holy shit. He's been with us since the beginning, but didn't become principal until season year two. Thanks, good people. I didn't know he was in the first episode. That's incredible. Yeah. He was at the first annual meetup too, right? Yes, he was. Yes, he was. Pasadena. Pasadena. And we got to hear your neighbor who unfortunately is no longer on the cast. God, that guy's got a good voice. He still does. Yeah, he still does all the outros.
15:12Not for the season enders, but yeah, still there. Worked for cases of beer. Good man. Yeah. Pretty solid. Okay. So I've got some notes here and I've got some questions. Trent, I'm going to start with you. Okay. So in this episode, we start to see Bass walking this kind of fine line between authority and then being completely out of his depth, especially during the 300 club sequence, which I feel like we could spend this entire episode talking about 300 club um i'm not getting naked what's that i said i'm not getting naked again again again how did you approach um because you're still learning bass's character at this point still very early i think i'm still learning bass's character you listen to the episodes patrons can tell you he's he's trying he's trying just don't get on reddit we've said that just stay off Reddit.
16:09But how did you approach balancing the like authority of the law man and being serious as well as kind of the humor and then starting to show some vulnerability, which we've seen some vulnerability from the beginning, but leaning in a little heavier here. Um, I mean, Brian had, had written such a great part where it was, you know, where he's trying to one-up Dr. Wainwright, but he doesn't know what he's actually agreeing to. And just that, you know, that dig on him where – and Wainwright tries to get him an out too, where he's just like extreme cold, like, you know, just, all right, you know, firing a shot across the bow there, but if you want it, it's yours, have at it.
16:54So it was just, you know, and then him getting to be the fool there for a second where he's like, wait a minute, what do I just agree to? And Zeke just like, dude. You're so dumb. And of course, all of them getting roped into it because Wainwright's like, I'm sure all of your friends want to participate in this as well. Although I think Owen's character, he bows out, right? No, he faints. Yeah. Oh, yeah, he faints. That's right. no I think it was just you know watching him and trying to really dig into Wainwright was kind of the goal he thought he had one up on him and then turns out he did not but it worked out in the long run for him there's that moment with Kendra where I'm like oh we love an innuendo especially from a character as sweet and innocent as Kendra yes Brian when you wrote this I don't believe that Amy Brummer addressed this in our last episode but I'm assuming the 300 Club is not real did this come from your brain or is this real it is real it is real it is um dependent for those who who are listening not familiar so whenever on the station it gets to 100 below um they will sit in the sauna for about 30 minutes to get their their temperature up internally and then you're supposed to be naked but i know there are you know many individuals that you know will keep boxers bras on what have you and you run out of the sauna down the stairs around the ceremonial pole back into the station and get back into the sauna to get your temperature back up i know i would keep my boxers and bra on yes absolutely it is it is definitely not sanctioned because they they do try to keep it very professional there but it does happen it's a real thing just a bunch of depraved scientists hanging out there literally hanging out there literally hanging out I mean it's pretty cold I don't know how much hanging's out there well yeah I mean not everybody's a bass Marlow trust me no they're not this is the male fantasy part where I was like He's turtling.
19:17Turtling.
19:21It was cold. It was cold. I was in the pool.
19:28I think we were kind of robbed from the most overly sexually charged character on the show, our friend firefighter Fred by not being in this episode. Kyle, what do you think Fred would have done if he had the opportunity to join? Oh, I think he would have been right there with him. There's no doubt in my mind. you know you you give that man an opportunity he's gonna take it i i just envision where everyone else is running you know fred you're just kind of sauntering yeah he's on the leash he's on the leash getting led around to the pole just mentally taking as many photographs as he can save it up for later yeah
20:10yes yeah yes exactly heather starting to get frostbite here boss you got to move a little faster yeah it would have been as depraved as it was in the episode it would have been a bit more depraved which is probably why he wasn't included so we're probably all thankful for that yeah it was early on we're still trying to make sure we didn't uh isolate our listeners i suppose yes but now i isolate the listeners
20:46Heather when you read this script the first time what was your uh reaction to the 300 club scene oh I so like going to college in Fargo we also did a version of like go out in the cold weather We did a polar plunge. Polar plunge. So when it's really cold out, we would get in our swimsuits. We weren't naked. But we'd go jump in the water and, like, swim down to a certain point, like at the end of the dock or something, and then swim back. And it's absolutely frigid. So when I was reading it, I was like, oh, yeah, this is just what people do when it's cold outside. You prove that you can handle the cold.
21:30there's something I think about like like a human versus nature that's just like I can beat this when in reality like overall we really can't it's just those moments where we do feel like oh we got this so it's not so bad it's not so bad yeah it's just a little cold so I think I resonated with that part of it but also as an adult with now like a fully formed prefrontal cortex i'm like and that's so dumb why are they doing that yeah there's no scenario that i'm going to go jump in freezing cold water or anything similar like that sounds awful i think i would do it but when i was 20 i was like i mean fair enough yeah i would do it i think i would would you i think so i'm very i'm very intrigued by a cold plunge okay now if kyle's gonna do it now i'll do it no well this is how this is how trouble starts i'm just saying it's in my mind i i i think i would go for it i would like to do the cold plunge situation cold plunge thing but not the 300 club thing no no no we're not yeah i don't brain here i i do the i do the 300 club not the polar plunge thing really really taiwan i actually went to like a spa pool place that had cold like super frigid water and like super hot water and what you're supposed to do is like isolate between them yeah and for some sort of health benefit but that was i did try that too and that was insane from when you go to the really hot hot tub and then jump into the frigid water it's like yeah i did a moment of like i was dying no i went to a spa and it was something similar i think i was in mexico and same thing so it was like icy and then and it you do sort of feel like invigorated but then also it's like at some point are you not going to shock your body and actually it's like really bad for you so that just seems yeah depending on how long the exposure is for sure yeah because you could you can end up with a coronary if if you're there too long but well that's not preferred but i mean it is it is a trend in fitness where people do the polar plunge i think it's something to do with circulation right circulation and inflammation yeah well I know people are definitely listening to this podcast for fitness tips because that's kind of absolutely I mean we we're here to pump you up you get yourself the weights and then you eat the protein yeah yeah some creatine maybe yeah
24:15Heather let's talk about Trent Shumway is on fire today I should just say he's banging on maybe two cylinders today I'm loving it I'm loving it buddy do a sentence we are so consistent in the fact that every time I try to get us back on track Kyle's going to derail us and we're just it's because I don't like an awkward pause I can feel the awkward pause coming and I'm like let me fill this space there's space even if it's not an awkward pause let me fill it I think we're going to have you host this next one you've got this I don't know how to plug in my microphone and all that
24:54I'm gonna I don't know what I'm gonna do really really dramatic whatever I'm gonna do you had the chance to strangle me in June and you missed it this is on you again my friend I'm so happy I met you and we're friends it's just great it's wonderful we're all just so happy I cannot imagine why Trent thinks we hate each other honestly I can't imagine it I don't get it. All right, let's see here. Heather, let's talk a little bit more about Kendra because she changes a lot over the whole show, but over season one. But we see with her kind of these changes are pretty gradual. She's a consistent character who's making these incremental changes.
25:37So talk us through kind of building out her character and portraying her as she becomes more comfortable with Bass and more comfortable with the people around her too, though she's still keeping that social anxiety or you're keeping the social anxiety as an authentic and a consistent part of her character can you kind of talk about that yeah um so like I have I have my own bit of social anxiety obviously not to the degree that that Kendra does but you kind of draw off that but any kind of it well I'm knocking my disc here um any kind of anxiety manifests in different ways for different people.
26:18So part of it was just kind of exploring the different ways that that might come out. Like sometimes it might come out really strong and really visible to every person that's observing her. And other times it might be really internal and hidden. But I think as she becomes more comfortable at best, it's just kind of like interaction like anyone who's maybe like unsure of themselves or something if they start to realize oh this is a safe person and they like me and they accept me in all of my different forms and all of my different facets that safe person starts to become like an anchor or at least that's how it's I've experienced it in my life like oh like some of my friends from middle school they saw the worst parts of me.
27:12Like they saw the most awkward, the most, like just everything about middle school, that's like, oh, I'm in middle school. Like they saw that version of me and they loved me then. And they've loved every iteration of me since. And so I think about those type of people like oh they're just there they love you no matter how you change and like your form flexes through time and so I was thinking like oh bass is becoming that kind of a person for Kendra like she's realizing oh he's just here like however I show up he's here and I think I know we're talking about season one right now but I think she starts with bass as that anchor and realizes that, oh, all of these other people also are accepting me in all of the different ways.
28:11And I think that's kind of how she starts to gradually work through it. I think that's really beautiful. And not to fast forward all the way through, but if you're looking at kind of towards the end of season four, Kendra's extremely confident, or she portrays as extremely confident. And she's really a central part of not just the story, but kind of the friend group. that builds up and, and she does seem extremely comfortable with each person. So that makes sense to me that from her perspective, it was kind of one building block at a time. I think you described that really beautifully. Yeah. Sorry.
28:44I have one more, one more thought with it. Sometimes people quote the, I think it's like RuPaul, like if you, if you don't love yourself, how is anyone else going to love you? But actually I think the opposite can be true for some people that if you can't feel the love and acceptance from other people it's hard to manifest it in yourself so i think kendra is kind of like oh i see other people loving me so i can love myself too like their approval validates kendra's self-worth not not exactly that just maybe more like a reminder of like oh yeah i'm okay the way i am fine kid yeah yeah totally i love that this is this is like the deep conversation that i could go off on the side and we can but if others want to kind of join in too so it doesn't just turn into heather and me having a no academic conversation and in you know without getting too personal heather uh but like hearing you talk about how you have certain types of social anxiety and it's like you know i've known you for several years now and none of that is evident as as you know this heather that i know because i didn't know the middle school heather obviously and I'm always envious and and stand back in awe and when you will just go out with just you know there is there is no blocks it appears like you there is nothing that you're afraid to do and you are willing to put on a show no matter what the situation is and it's always like how the hell does she do that how does she pull that off so to hear that you suffer through you know some social anxiety is like like I I find it hard to believe but I believe you you know but it's like you wouldn't know it to watch you because like I just saw a video of you performing it at this uh uh convention you were just at and it's just like just the amount of performance that you put into it I'm like no wonder she killed that thing like yeah she's like giving it her all man you and you always do even when we were at Kyle's it was like it's the Heather show it this is fantastic it's like you are on and I I wish I had that so to hear that that is that kind of like uh i don't want to say coping mechanism but is that is that a way that you kind of defeat your anxiety or the way you deal with your anxiety as far as social uh situations of concern yeah yeah mine's a lot a lot more internal mine usually i i'm like you know what i'm gonna do it anyway and after it's done i'll realize that it was okay but usually after it's done is when I start spiraling like oh my gosh did I say something stupid was I like hurtful in some way because I never want to be hurtful to anybody ever so I'll spiral on those like afterthoughts like after an interaction but during the interaction I'm usually pretty like present whatever but later I'll be like was I an asshole I hope not you never are Well, but that's, you know, I know what you mean.
32:03I live, I live in that place where it's like, yeah, you're, you're second guessing every, every move and everything you've said. But I will say too, that a lot of the like joy of performance is just, well, I was okay before. I'm just going to do it. I might spiral a little bit afterward, but also after that, I realized I was still okay. And the people who love me didn't leave. They never will. And I think that, I mean, that description really embodies who, not only who Kendra was, but who Kendra is slowly becoming at this point in the series where it's, I don't want to say slow burn, because that's the wrong, it's the, the, the dealing with those struggles starts very slowly.
32:54But as we see towards, you know, season two, season three, definitely in season four she's not just a a part of the background she is taking you know owners she is taking command of the room upon more than one occasion so it's it's that progression of the character and i think you know i i can't i can't think of anyone else who could do who could play kendra other than heather than heather no yeah heather that was absolutely beautiful i i i feel too seen with all the things that you're saying um but yeah it's yeah it's someone who has many social anxieties and well and a lot of people can't tell that uh i i that was beautiful the way you put it and also it's very evident in the way that kindred grows from that that you know it was just very great wonderful buddy i think we've definitely all been there in the spiral afterwards wondering if we said or did something that hurt someone for me i'm not so worried about embarrassing myself because I don't care.
33:55But if I think that I've affected someone else, especially in a negative way, that that's what I obsess over. And I remember we recorded one day. I don't remember if it was this podcast or an actual episode of the show. I don't even remember what I said, but I said something and later became absolutely obsessed that Trent thought I meant something else. And I actually emailed you. Do you remember that? Yeah, I did. And I'm want to be super clear and no i never thought about that again no i wish i remember what i had said it was something yeah i don't remember what it was but i remember i remember you email because you were like i just want to make sure that you i'm like no no we're good like i i like no uh but i i yeah i live there too like i i that's something i'm always doing and i i've done that many times i've texted someone or called someone after the fact and there's like what are you talking about yeah clearly something i made up in my own mind sorry my brain is also my But also my personal favorite, Trent, is reliving the conversation and having it done 32 ,000 different ways, even though the conversation was eight years ago and nothing can be done about it.
34:56And I'm the only one thinking about it and remembering it. I should have said this instead of that. And you're going, but it was eight years ago. And then also getting yourself worked up about it as you're having that conversation because you're back in those feelings. Yep. Totally. Totally. well I think too like it probably speaks to a person as a character but when when your obsession is on how you've affected the other person I think that's a good thing like you care enough about the other person um I'm kind of famously not a hyper emotional person but I know and I never cry at work I like make it a policy no matter how upset I just I won't cry at work because then they don't take you seriously but I said something an off-the-cuff comment that I never thought about again.
35:39And I realized like a week later that it had deeply hurt someone. And, and, and this person to their credit, like pulled me aside, told me we talked through it. It was very, very mature. And it was like the right way to process it. And I was so worked up that I had caused them any amount of distress that I burst into tears and I had to go home. I couldn't turn the rest of the day around because I was just so upset that I had affected them with something that I said and never thought about again, you know? So I guess that's the opposite where I should have been thinking about it. Well, I mean, everyone, everyone can make a mistake or not know, you know, the emotionally you've, you've, you've affected someone in negative way.
36:20Like it can happen, but the fact that you dealt with it and, and like you said, you guys are, you know, you approach it in a very mature way and you guys talked it through. And then the fact you had remorse, it's because you're not a sociopath. Yeah.
36:36you're a good and kind human being and and that's the thing is you know especially now in this day and age like we're there's a lot of just vitriol you know hate and just and just anger out there and it's like no if communication just just a little bit more communication and you'd be amazed you know screaming and yelling at work i always can't stand that you know a yeller is never effective in my opinion um someone who always you know uh screams and yells or or tends to go negative it's like that that's their baseline and it's like i never want to be around that unfortunately in my industry there's quite a bit of it but it's like dealing with it and being mature and and watching like kendra's character grow who i mean she's you know she obviously is she's a woman of science she wouldn't be there unless she was you know highly intelligent and watching the way that heather plays it and it almost feels like we had restraints on her at the beginning and and those restraints have come off and not that she's like look out she's on the loose but you know she's she's she's gotten to allow that character to really fully develop and and become bigger and and i mean she yells at bass and it's fun it's like there she goes there's a there's their girl um but and she teaches bass too how to be better at adult you know it's like you have to deal with things a different way and you can't just punch your way through something you can't just you know uh push all those feelings down you have to deal with it otherwise you're you know you're going to end up hurting yourself and other people in the long run and i think she teaches bass how to be a good partner too because you know he's he's very alpha and he's got a lot of experience and strong opinions but that doesn't always mean that he's right and so sometimes you need a little bit of a gentle reminder that there might be a different way to look at things absolutely and and kind of going back to heather's point about love like he has a lot of self-hatred and his past without you know jumping ahead for our listeners but odds are if you're listening to this you probably probably know yeah chances are strong he has a lot of regret in his life he has a lot of self-patriot he has a lot of angst and slowly but surely she's helping him chip away at that along with other characters obviously there's there's you know plenty of people there who are i mean everyone is just growing as a community and that's what's so lovely as you see this family this found family become stronger and stronger and stronger as they go and and seeing the way that she deals with bass at the beginning and and here's this you know guy who literally comes around the corner naked and he's I think more embarrassed than she is but you know and and later on it's just kind of fun to watch him just not just regret but just kind of like what like I made a huge mistake and now I just made it even worse however it tends to get them closer so it it works out in their favor in the long run but at the time i'm sure he's talk about you know reliving the situation over and over and over yeah he's not sleeping that night when uh when i when i actually wrote that scene i wanted not only literally for bass to be laid out bare before who would become you know his his romantic interest but um you know literally and figuratively you know just he is laying himself there and and you know it's kendra at that point you know i they had already i think yeah they had their their first date so um you know it just kind of cemented that okay these two probably you know it's the will they won't they and of course by the end of the first season it it goes various different directions but it's it's kind of okay there's something here there's something here and it's the two characters, Kendra and Bass, who had the most difficulty in expressing themselves or just being who they're supposed to be, being brought together by the ice was not coincidental.

40:49Right. Right. Well, is anything coincidental in this show? To go one deeper, to go one deeper, is anything coincidental in this life? Oh. we need to be smoking reefer when we're having this conversation I would never is the color blue to me the same color blue to you man just cause we gave it the label bro doesn't mean that blue is blue okay this is what the color 7 smells like I appreciate being in a room with people who can't stay serious for too terribly long cause that's me too things get too heavy and it's like no let's let's back it up um you need levity you do so you know brian this episode vacillates a lot between some tender moments some like storyline building moments and absolute chaos particularly the trolls and the 300 club there's a lot of like nonsense in this not nonsense but like silly stuff going on in this episode um how intentional were you when you wrote this about kind of flipping back and forth with the tone or is it like the muse takes over and you just start writing and this is what landed on the page i think it's it's it's a little bit of both um i definitely want to have enough you're gonna you're gonna have people that are there for the you know the the comedic um aspects of the show you're gonna have people that are there for the romance aspects of the show and then people there just for the um you know kind of the the adventure and the political intrigue so I wanted to throw all three in um and and to an extent I will do that in various different episodes but this one I wanted to showcase and apparently I wanted to do it in under 30 minutes um I wanted to showcase just how you'll be in in one mode and you'll think everything is fine and then the ice completely switches it up and just causes chaos to to take place and what you think is going to happen doesn't yeah I was not prepared when I listened to this the first time for it to have been telling one story for six episodes and then suddenly you've got these visitors and they're like breaking beer but I just wasn't prepared for that But what made you decide to make the visitors Norwegian?
43:24Is this a thing that exists or is this like a Brian thing? This is also real. So there is both. So there are two stations, Norwegian stations. One of them is actually called Troll 1, but there is not a Troll 2. So in the show, I added Troll 2 as a station that was going to be closer. I just wanted that absolutely chaotic group of people. And they've become fan favorites. where, you know, every summer season, the trolls will come and they'll visit. And even despite, you know, obstacles that are going to be thrown up, we're going to see the trolls again and in a much larger way in season five. So, no, that is, the troll station is very much realistic.
44:09And I think as we're going to see more of the other stations as well in season five. And did you model the trolls and the brawl after our cast reunions?
44:23it is definitely modeled after individuals i have worked with uh in the past who uh yeah exactly who um it does not take much to get them started and when they get them started it's kind of like owen but not owen in a physical sense yeah he's not destructive no no no but yeah you you just you just put a little little beer in them you know spit them around a couple times and just push them in a direction and hilarity will ensue um probably a couple of lawsuits as well or or uh yeah potentially some uh article 10s but um yeah sure it'll be fine it'll be fine yeah um i'm i'm just so tired of every time that we all get together the number of chairs that i've seen kyle break over people's heads it's getting a little embarrassing honestly inexpensive yeah problematic i'm sorry brian i apologize i i've just i will hold it to i promise you in 2027 i will hold it to under three security deposits i can write those off so we're good oh fuck it guys come on aaron come on aaron you just took your strings off yeah all right i want to do one more question for discussion then i want to make sure we have time for some listener questions because we have a few pretty good ones um but brian this is back to you again so this episode ends on a comedic note, but there is a lingering sense that something bigger and more dangerous is going on.
45:46Something's brewing beneath the surface. So how does this episode set up what's coming? Well, I mean, it's definitely, we see for the first time an international aspect to something just outside of the U.S. station with another station that do come to visit. We get the first inklings that there is something more involved going on with Project Atlas because of Bass's overheard conversation with Lawrence and Director Dantes, who will also become very much, Director Dantes will become part of the background lore as we go forward. So it was, I mean, this is what, this is episode seven. We were planning the seeds early on plot points that were definitely going to come back and come back in various ways, not just in the first season, but moving forward.
46:41All right. Should we move on to some listener questions? Absolutely. Okay. Listeners, thank you for listening. Yes. And questioning for sure. thank you for questioning absolutely okay listeners do a sentence do a sentence do a sentence i guess it depends on the questions we don't know them yet this one is for brian and for the actors playing bass and kendra so trent that would be you and i play kendra yeah you play kendra very well i try i know i told you about how like a year ago i was standing at the bar with trent and i was rambling about some story I was going to write that I never wrote. And Trent said, I'll play all the characters.
47:26And I said, well, it's like two female best friends are the central characters. He said, that's fine. I will play all the characters. So yeah. They just have very deep voices. Very masculine, feminine. Did you always know that Bass and Kendra would develop feelings for each other? Their first conversation is incredibly awkward and sweet, but it develops so gradually that it doesn't initially feel like the show is announcing here is the romance and this is from uh it's either grappo or groppo um and it came from reddit um yeah no that they they were always going to get together i think that the question was when um originally i was going to make this probably not become a a true relationship until much later in the season, in the series run.
48:20But after, God, getting almost through the entire first season, I was like, all right, you know what? The whole will they, won't they, it's overdone. I'm just going to answer the question right now because there's still going to be obstacles that come up, a really big one, pretty soon in season four. But no, I think that was always going to be in the cards for them. Because that's what the ice wants, needs, drafted, scripted. That's what the ice wants. I think from playing Kendra, we usually got a few. I think season one, we got a few scripts ahead. Season two, we got a bunch of ones. But I think season one, we got a few scripts ahead.
49:09So as an actor, I did see the path of where it was going. um but also there's there's writing clues there's context clues that you kind of like as an actor when you're like going through the script and looking for the little nuggets to pull out you're like oh oh oh oh and it's always an interesting choice to to kind of play with like how how are they feeling what do they want in this scene what do they want in this scene how are they feeling but yeah i think well and trent and i have been friends for for so long um even before this podcast so just our play and our banter and our our friendship relationship together is such a good mesh that i think if bass and kendra didn't end up together that would be a missed opportunity yeah I don't know I only read my lines I don't read the rest of the script oh Trent you started reading them ahead of time that's nice
50:26I remember when I was suggesting to Brian I'm like listen I got a pal who she's phenomenal you're gonna love her and he's and he's like i think he's like yeah i think this is gonna be your love interest too and i'm like perfect dude yeah this is gonna be fun but i think you had told me early on like make sure he's more business as usual at the very beginning he's very stern he's you know he's just there to solve a murder and he you know he's suffers in, you know, no fools. But, and he's totally fish out of water and he's hating every moment that he's there. But then there's just kind of this, this little ray of light.
51:10And it isn't just Kendrick. There's obviously other people like Zeke and stuff who helped kind of take, get him out of his shell and stuff. But watching and seeing as the scripts go on, I was like, okay, this is going to be great. And the more that Heather and I got to play together, it was just like, can we do more of these scenes, please? Can we expand on these? And there's a lot of times I think that we would try to add little one-liners here and there and some improv just because we felt in the moment like this is kind of working. This is what they would say, I think. And I mean, yeah, it was always planned, but it was how are we going to develop this over time?
51:46And it's like it's so easy because you're in, you know, I'm in a scene with my favorite scene partner who just, we just connect it feels like as soon as we start we're there we're in the moment and and we believe it uh and then when it ends you're like no well see you next time bye it helps that you're friends too because Trent we had a really great conversation a couple of months ago where we were talking about just sometimes characters have chemistry and if you're really lucky you're friends with that person outside as well and that can play into it but sometimes you've got great chemistry with someone you actually can't stand we won't go too far in but you get you shared an example of an actor you had worked with where you had great chemistry and you're like i couldn't stand them as a person but the characters had great chemistry together yeah and it when it works it works so you just you just play on that and it's like you go through strengths um heather and i connected like when we did improv together we connected immediately and um you know who's not gonna like heather she's she's just this ray of light and is just fascinating and intelligent and funny and brilliant person and it's like and at the same time she's like i also love cartoons i'm like me too just a bunch of kids just a bunch of kids yeah kyle i'm sorry you had to find out that trent hates working with you like this i know this is what i'm saying i know you guys recorded episodes without me we've not been on break for fucking a year guys this is this is episode 115 i'm a little hurt i'm a little hurt i'm sorry i said that earlier well it doesn't matter we're gonna cut him out anyway recording or not but when we were in la kyle said something to he was like i know i got kicked off the something about the ice i'm like no i promise we haven't recorded in a really long time this is the moment you find out we've all been lying to you yeah i'm a little hurt i understand a little bit too but i am a little hurt um let's see okay this is for everyone for the whole cast what was the moment in season one when you kind of had your personal awakening and your you personally thought okay this show is not what i thought it was going to be when i signed on uh was it sandra derecha apparently being from another reality was it franklin the demon was it peppermint project atlas was it something else and this is from james caitlin over on patreon so thank you james caitlin for the question i think i i've got a a take on this please um i i think going into it most of us kind of knew like okay it's got to have these sci-fi aspects um and so like Sandra wasn't so shocking in that way like okay we're going to play with a bunch of these these different things but I think what was my surprise on like oh this is not like quite the direction I thought it was going to go is how funny it is like I initially like onboarding I I thought we were going to be sitting a little bit more in the like drama, sci-fi space, but it's just hilarious.
55:00And maybe it's because we're friends. And when we get to the mic and we start playing, it naturally comes out. But Brian has a way of writing that just, that elicits that from us. And then once we're in the playground, we're like, no, I'm, I'm here. Don't, don't let me leave. Yeah. I mean, I don't think there was a moment that I didn't know where the show was going to go because Brian and I had been talking about it since he started. And we talk a lot. And even when I was doing Falls, like I'm friends with the creators of both shows and we talk about it all the time. Probably too much. You know, if you ask our spouses.
55:45So it's like and Brian would go, I'm going to throw this in and I'm also going to put this in, too. and I would just get giddy and be like, can we do that tomorrow? He's like, no, that's another season away, buddy. You got to hold on. I'm like, oh, there's going to be a werewolf? I want to be in it. So we always knew, but to Heather's point, it's like you, as you read it and you laugh at something, you forget how funny it's going to play. And then when a performer gets it and runs with it and you see people comment all the time, I'm like, there's a lot of science, but it's just such a freaking hilarious show because Brian has got this really great, you know, sense of humor.
56:25And even early on when he was doing like stills of artwork for King Falls, there was humor in every single one of them. Every single one. And every, the best jokes, the best part of the show, like all condensed into one panel, which is very difficult to do. Take and condense a 22 or 40 minute show into one panel. And it's like, well, that's, that's a mind of a genius. and so as the show goes on and there's there's added stuff i don't want to give away too much but it's like there's it just seems like the toy box just spilled on up on the floor and we're playing with everything and i love it and i want more of it and trend you bring up a good point we were lucky enough that brian brought us in you know near the near the beginnings of this thing so just you know reading and having those conversations you knew like by the twinkle in his eye and like the little mischievous grin that like this was not this is gonna there's more than meets the eye here you know i mean so well that's that was why i was like i want to play everything because i want to i you know if it's up for grabs right now i'm gonna get it because i don't want anyone else to have no yeah get in early that guy and that guy and that guy get in early and often my friend exactly but yeah it's just it's it does it's it's been very fun watching the progression over the last few years, especially from just the very beginning of here's, here's the idea.
57:48Here's the, here's the, here's the, here's the first couple of scripts to like where everything goes now. And not only just where it goes storyline wise, but just how it's recorded. You know what I mean? There's a lot of times where, you know, previously in earlier seasons, we may have been a little reticent to, I won't say reticent, but we would be a little more cautious about what we throw in, you know what I mean? And now, now it's just like, like heather was alluding to it's just kind of like oh if we're allowed to play it's game on it's your idea it's your job to edit what we can't say oh i'm convinced half the time that we're just doing you know some of it just for us and brian just allowing us to play because it's like it's not going to make it but we're going to just keep going and we know it's not going to make it yeah yeah brian's an unwilling hostage okay so he's a willing hostage yeah so as creators of shows and writers of shows you two guys uh as you start to see your characters uh get fleshed out you know audit with audio and stuff how do you start to expand like is it just because it's plain like the way the performer has done it and you and you want to expand i know brian you've you've talked about there's been a couple one-offs that you had that became like characters that just like well we're just going to keep them going firefighter fred uh and it's like what when do you know is it just like in the moment or is it in the edit or when do you know like we're going to just continue on with this we're just going to take this character and allow them to to you know stay a cast member count thank you honestly i mean there's there's a lot of stuff when you're writing you know it's going to be good on paper um and and you're like oh they're gonna fucking crush with this you know what i mean but also so many of those times are cemented in the recording you know what i mean like in my mind and i go back to archie's palm tree palace i knew that jingle was going to be like it was gonna it was gonna be fun but i did not realize we were going to be able to build a complete character around it and run with it for episodes and episodes and episodes and there was still plenty to run there you know what i mean so like i think you see it in the room a lot like you have an inkling like oh this this cracked me up or I giggled a little bit over this so this will be fun when my friends get to play with it but like in the room when you see somebody knock it out of the park you're like I gotta throw more pictures like that so we can knock more of those out of the park Brian how about you I'm gonna copy off of his paper and just no no I think I think I know I mirror that there there are you know some characters that as you're writing them there you know that they're going to be around forever and you know it's I think we've been we've been very fortunate that all of those main kids there's not a single one of them that has just not you know shined and it becomes as a writer it becomes difficult because you want to give you know equal you know time to all these characters to to let them shine and to you know let them shine brighter when you can and then there are just some characters where you get that firefighter Fred.
1:00:56I've said it so many times. He was going to be gone after the end of season one. He was just there for a little bit of community value. And then when Kyle busted out, you know, between the accent and the, you know, what was on the paper, what was off the paper that made it in, and just the interactions. And I can't think of a show that would not have firefighter Fred on it. It's just been phenomenal. So, you know, as they grow, it's so fun to write for them because every single character that I have written has evolved as the show has gone on. Some of it I knew the evolution evolution do a sentence I knew the evolutional pathway was going to go down but sometimes stuff will come out of left field that just completely spread Kendra's Kendra's whole again I don't think I'm spoiling anything people if they're listening to this they're when kendra talked her mother uh just you know just talked back to not just talked back but shut her down the scariest person on the most timid person on the station shutting down the most intense and serious person on the station at the time um was not something that i i knew it would it would play but it wasn't until heather actually played that scene and were recording it and just that intensity in her voice um that you know that is serious that you could it wasn't just words you could feel it you could feel that anxiety just all this pent-up anger that she had been wanting for 30 some years to to blow up at her mother and it just all right there um it's just phenomenal we've had so many of those episodes with all of the characters on the show.
1:02:45So to expand on this question a bit too, because we work audio only, there's only so many limitations because obviously you can't tell them what's happening, but you have to kind of have the sound of what's happening. But when you write a show like Falls or you write a show like 90 and you know it's going to be science fiction, it's going to be horror, and it goes in a lot of different directions, where do you find yourself putting limits for yourself? Do you ever have a stop sign that just goes, no, we don't go that far? Or do you just throw caution to the wind? In other words, because your dimensions, werewolves, uh cryptoids you know time travel at what point do you is there ever a point where you go no that's too far aliens or just aliens aliens yeah it's it's brian's hard line right there yeah no it is um well i mean if if you're talking about like the using the subject content that's in the episodes i think really my only gaining factor is time i i just you only have so long to write because you know after you're going to lose audience after a while because then they have to go do laundry or vacuum or give their kids instructions um you know it's you have a limited duration in order to tell that now if you're talking about like you know will i have a you know will i have aliens aliens are not on the on the docket anytime soon i don't want to give too much away because there are some things that may not be what we think they are from the show but But yeah, there's one or two things where, no, you know, it's just a hidden Nazi base.
1:04:38I don't, and that's the huge lore with Antarctica is that somewhere around there, there is a hidden Nazi base. No, we're probably not going to do that. There are a couple of things, you know, ice giants, we're not going to do that. So yeah, there's some things that it just wouldn't work for the narrative that I'm trying to tell. But is that what it is? It just doesn't work for the story. Not that it would so much be off limits. It just doesn't work for the story you're trying to tell. Yeah, no, I'd say that's fair. It's just, it could be used in another story. Just, it's not, there's no puzzle piece for my, for our story for this.
1:05:10That's fair. I know we've been recording a while, but I do have one more question, Brian, if you think we have time for one more question. We have time. We have time. Okay. This is for Trent and for Heather. The girl crush scene feels like a turning point because Kendra isn't simply rejecting Bass. She's recognizing that she's become emotionally attached to someone who is supposed to leave the pole. And I know this is skipping ahead to an episode we're not covering, but we've established that most of our Patreon listeners are probably caught up at least to the end of season one. Was that scene always intended to temporarily separate them?
1:05:45And how much discussion went into Kendra's reasons for pulling away? And this is from Louis Jacobs, and it came in through X. So thank you, Louis Jacobs, for the question. Brian? Let me know if you need me to repeat that. I read a lot and then I talked in the middle. so the so the just the romantic dynamic between the two or so them breaking up for it well it's not just a rejection it's it's kendra recognizing that she's become emotionally attached and was it always supposed to temporarily separate them i well no so i think well and that in the episode itself, just thinking back, there's the whole, you know, Bass basically, you know, approaching and just say, look, is there any reason, you know, for me to stay?
1:06:34And Kendra, and again, this is where, you know, both, both the, the actors, both Trent, you know, Trent playing it and Heather playing it, just that, that vulnerability, or, you know, not wanting to be vulnerable in that situation. I think it came out just so perfect where I knew that there was going to be a separation. Um, I specifically wrote it so that if there was just no, if, if season one was not going to work out, then that's the definitive end of the show. We have our murder at that point. Yes, it's a lost love. That's not going to happen. That was going to be tragic in and of itself. And it was a clean break where I could just say, okay, that's, you know, I tried my head at podcasting, didn't work out.
1:07:15I can say I do, I did it. Um, you know, and just take that away but you know with the with the you know reaction from everyone after you know season one and just you know people saying great you know we love it can we have more and i said okay i i i have an idea you know if it is going to go on if this if the story's going to go on yes we will the two of them will get together um it's there's going to be problems getting to that point but we will we will get there um so i had written two variations of how the relationship would go one with an ending and one with a continuing on and obviously we're on the continue it on path what did that feel like from an actor perspective yeah heather how did you how did you approach that one when you're playing so the way i approached it was i mean yes it's vulnerable but like a place of fear like as i kind of was saying earlier in this, like Bass had become a person she recognized as he is a safe person.
1:08:21So he's like this pillar of support that she's realizing she can count on. And then knowing that that pillar is going to crumble, kind of like all the growth that she was going through at that point, she realized oh I got to put these walls back up because actually this thing that I thought was a foundation isn't and I'm not safe so I need to go back down hide and keep myself safe in in that way so that's where I was with her at that time but um obviously there's feelings there so it's there's that like conflict of interest internally in our heart too. Like I need to keep myself safe because that's what I've been doing my whole life.
1:09:14But also I want something more, but if, but if that's not going to happen, if I can't count on that, then I need to retreat to what is safe for me. So that's kind of where I was with that. I think, um, the way I was approaching was Bass was doing something that is alien to him. He's crossing the lines he shouldn't be crossing, but he had something that he hadn't had in a long time, which was there was hope, there was joy, there was a little bit of happiness, and there was something that it was clouded in his mind. Kendra obviously comes to this conclusion before Bass does. I don't think Bass has put it together in a sense of, you're leaving, man.
1:10:04And then what? Kendra does and has to correct him. And at that point, the rug is pulled out from under him. But he is crossing lines as far as like he's, you know, we haven't cleared her as a suspect yet. And he's even, you know, drummed, you know, his pure officer is or, you know, Chuck is like, hey, man, we don't do this. and I think he is in the moment he feels something he hasn't felt for so long that he's willing to break those rules even though it's detrimental to his investigation it's detrimental to his career it's detrimental to the station but it's that angst and that hurt and that emptiness he's had for so long that he's looking past it and he's not thinking clearly luckily for us it works out but yeah you know and uh you know she does a solo on on the pa and the world turns back around for a moment of just being brave and not worrying about what's next just being in that moment and imagining that character having that strength to be able to pull that off is like talking about the social anxiety and stuff but And then I love when you hear IT Chris is like, you're alive.
1:11:29Go ahead. And he's got so much joy when he says it because he knows what it's leading to. And then, you know, it's just magic. I did see something online, though, where someone kept asking, like, what does pull it mean? Oh, we get that. Yes. I wish I had, because in the episode at the end, I actually block out the dialogue between Bass and Zeke with some background VMF stuff. Because I wanted to leave it, again, open for whichever pathway. But yeah, and I thought it was going to be very clear and it wasn't. And so, yeah, just if there is anyone listening who didn't pull, you know, put two and two together, Bass had drafted his acceptance of the offer to be the full time deputy marshal to be placed down at Munson Scott.
1:12:20But and he left it with Zeke, you know, just in the event that something happens before I leave and I, you know, it's going to change my mind. And then Kendra singing on the PA and showing in the the the for her at the time, the safest way she knew how that there were feelings there. there was a future for the two of them she did have strong feelings for him she does want him to stay that's when he rated a zigzag pull it pull the you know pull the lever send the uh send the facts send the acceptance letter to the nsf that i'm i am going to take up their offer a full-time deputy marshal on the station i'll take the job i've just got to go fly this criminal first yes Lives of Criminal First.
1:13:03And everything will be fine. Yes. No room for error. No room for error. What could go wrong? Yeah. You were saying earlier how, you know, this is audio only, and so you've got to be able to set the scene. Sometimes I think it's a missed opportunity that it's audio only because Trent was giving this beautiful explanation to that question, and my daughter and her dog came parading through the background, And I don't know why I didn't reach over and just mute myself, but I was like trying to like get them out of the room without making any noise to distract from the fact that Trent was like being so vulnerable and giving this great answer.
1:13:43Just chaos here all the time. Well, that's just like on the station. Exactly. I know. I would fit in well. There's always something going on where, you know, just about the time you get as serious as you can, there is a moment of levity. There is a moment of joy. There's a moment of romance. there's something there and but that's life you know life life doesn't have to be the same note every time it's not one genre and it's constantly fluctuating yeah oh i want to make a t-shirt that says that life is not just one genre do it i'll buy one in an etsy store i'll buy it i'm actually making a t-shirt that says do a sentence trent chumway do a sentence i'll let you know make sure to spell it wrong too that that way it's authentic all right we need to wrap this up before we lose the few listeners we have left who have hung with us so unfortunately that's going to bring us to the end of another episode of something about the ice we aim to uh not wait a year before doing our very next one but thanks for hanging with us on behalf of myself podcast trent shumway kyle brian and the increasingly concerned legal professionals who have asked us repeatedly to stop saying, it'll probably be fine.
1:15:00Thank you for joining us. We appreciate it. And Heather. And Heather. I'm sorry, Heather. Special guest Heather. Mostly Heather. I'm just reading the words on the page. That's what I do. Fine. Do a sentence. Do a sentence. Do a little better, though. Do a better sentence. And to our listeners, if you learned something, it probably was on accident. So until next time, stay warm, stay curious, and if Brian tells you that he has an idea for the show, for the love of God, do not make eye contact. This is Erin McCann, signing off.
