In short
Spirulina vs. chlorella (microalgae) and why women should consider algae as a nutrient-dense “food” that may support energy, brain function, skin, and menopause-related changes.
Guest background
Catherine Arnston, founder of Energy Bits; worked in plant-based nutrition/algae for 15+ years. Her entry point was her sister’s breast cancer diagnosis and alkaline diet guidance; her sister reportedly healed after chemo while changing diet. Arnston later earned a health coaching certificate (Institute for Integrative Nutrition) and built an algae-focused curriculum/company. She says she earned a PhD in natural health in 2024.
Key claims
- Spirulina and chlorella are microalgae grown as agricultural crops; Energy Bits grows theirs in Taiwan and uses low-heat drying to preserve nutrients.
- Spirulina is high in protein (claimed 64% by weight) and contains phycocyanin; she claims phycocyanin boosts cellular energy and can trigger apoptosis in “unhealthy/cancer cells.”
- She emphasizes superoxide dismutase (SOD) as an antioxidant that declines with age, linking it to fatigue/brain fog; spirulina is claimed to restore “SOD umbrella” protection for mitochondria.
- Menopause/perimenopause: she claims women lose SOD and estrogen (mitochondrial protection), and stored iron rises after menstruation stops; manganese in algae is said to help reduce iron oxidation.
- Skin glow: she attributes improved skin to nourishing organs via blood nutrients, collagen/elastin support, and chlorophyll’s antibacterial effects.
Notable examples
- She references Otto Warburg’s Nobel Prize work (cancer can’t exist in slightly alkaline cells) and claims her sister’s alkaline diet helped her heal.
- She cites UN endorsement of spirulina for world hunger and NASA feeding algae to astronauts; also claims Japan uses chlorella/spirulina routinely and has low cancer rates/long longevity.
- She says her Shark Tank appearance (2016) didn’t drive sales but increased visibility; sales rose after science-oriented podcasts.

We all need this particular nutrient, but you can't very well have mother's breast milk after the age of two. I did an analysis one day, I was looking at a book, and it had the amino acids in mother's breast milk. I raced over to our amino acid profile for spirulina.

2:53Lindsey Simcik:It's like, it's the most nutrient dense thing on earth. Isn't that crazy? It's crazy. I mean, so Catherine Arnston is on the show today. She's the founder of Energy Bits. I mean, she's been working in this space for almost 15 years, I think more than 15 years and is just like an encyclopedia of knowledge about algae and you're like, oh, algae, what? But no, no, no. I think it's a super helpful conversation no matter whether you take these or not. I learned so, so much. So Energy Bits is the supplement. You guys can go to energybits.com. Again, they're spirulina and chlorella plant-based supplements.
3:35And there's different types. So you can get the recovery ones, recovery bits. You can get the energy bits. You can get the Vitality Bits, Beauty Bits. There's like a bunch of different ones. 4:04Lindsey Simcik:You can follow Katherine at Katherine Arnston on Instagram and energybits at energybits on Instagram. Thank you guys so much for listening. Enjoy this episode and we'll see you on the other side. Love you guys. Bye. Well, I'm so glad you're here. We are so glad you're here. Yes, me too. We were actually just gushing because I feel like this past week, I was like looking at my skin. I was looking at your skin. We are glowing, not to be. Yes, you are, both of you. And I was just like, whoa. I was actually just thinking about this before because, you know, sometimes you feel dull and you're just like a little bit less.
4:37but I was like, what is the thing that has made it? And it has been, I've been taking my energy bits really regularly in the past week or so since I got a new batch of product. And it was, it is truly the thing that right now is feeling like it's making my skin look just absolutely like it's glowing. And it is that missing piece. And I think to have a conversation about something that is so simple yet so powerful, has so many layers is going to be so fascinating because our women that are listening are very savvy. They've tried a lot of things. They've done a lot of things. They know a lot, but to introduce this to them if they have not, you know, heard about it already is going to be really, really fun.
5:11So I would love to hear for you, you know, why algae? Like what was your journey to this? Cause I know, did you grow up underwater? What was your algae yield? I know there's a past lifetime in here that we can spend another conversation on. You've had mermaid lives. Yeah. Yeah. Something like that. So nothing to do with science at all. I'm from Canada, lived in the United States in Boston for 35 years. But I mentioned Canada because that's where I did all my education. My undergrad was in urban planning. My MBA was in international business. I had a corporate career. And then out of the blue, my younger sister, who I'm very close to, I have two sisters, developed breast cancer.
5:52And her oncologist in Canada, fortunately, it was a woman and women tend to be more open to nutritional things. Her oncologist told her as she was preparing for chemo, she needed to change her diet to an alkaline diet because it would be important for her healing. Now, she didn't tell her what an alkaline diet was or what specifically it did. So the first call my sister made was to me after that appointment, it's like, what's an alkaline diet? I don't know. I'm doing international business, but I will find out because I was so close to my sisters, I would do anything for either of them. So I just went online and found out it was mostly a plant-based diet because of the chlorophyll and the phytonutrients that have been proven to build your immune system.
6:31And of course, going through chemo, you want a strong immune system. But then as I dug a little deeper, I found out that there was a German scientist by the name of Otto Warburg who won a Nobel Prize in the 40s for discovering that cancer cannot exist in cells that are slightly alkaline. So I have to believe that her oncologist wanted to prevent the cancer from growing into more cells. So, um, and a lot of the research kept referring to algae, spirulina, chlorella, but I wasn't tuned into algae at that time. I just gave her tips. She changed her diet. She went through chemo. She completely healed.
7:03We have a girls reunion at least twice a year now celebrating that. And that was, you know, 15 years ago. So, um, as I learned more about plant-based nutrition, now you have to remember this was 17, 18 years ago. Nobody was talking about plant-based nutrition then. I thought, this is crazy. This is important stuff. I've never heard about this. Somebody should tell the world about it. And I've always been a very action passionate person. So I thought, oh, okay, I will. Like here I have no money, no background, but I thought I'm going to do something to change the world. So I thought, oh, I need some kind of certificate.
7:36So I went to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York and I got a health coaching certificate. And then I put together a curriculum on plant-based nutrition. I taught it for free at companies, hospitals anybody would let me in yeah but this is what truly led me to algae because as i was telling people they need to eat more vegetables more salads i got so much pushback oh people didn't like vegetables it was too much work they didn't live near a grocery store they were heavy to carry home their kids wouldn't eat them their husbands wouldn't eat them i thought okay i've seen the science i know they need this nutrition and if they won't eat vegetables i need to find something that will give them the nutrition of vegetables right without the work without the taste, without the hassle, blah, blah, blah.
8:19Didn't know what I was going to find, went back to everything I'd found for my sister. And when I got to algae, that's when the miracle happened. Because first of all, there's a hundred thousand studies, and we can talk about this, documenting the health benefits of algae. 60 ,000 for spirulina, 40 ,000 for chlorella. This science has been around for decades, and I'll explain why nobody knows about it yet. It's also an agricultural crop. Algae is not a supplement. We dry them into little tablets about the size of a baby aspirin. If you swallow them, there is no flavor, no repeat, no digestive distress, nothing.
8:56So you can either chew them or swallow them. Algae has been endorsed by the United Nations for 50 years, spirulina in particular, as the answer to world hunger because mic drop, it has three times the amount of protein as steak. There is nothing in the world with more protein by weight than spirulina algae. Ours is 64 % protein to compare that steak, chicken, or fish are about 23%. So three times the amount of protein as other animal sources. United Nations, or sorry, the NASA has been feeding algae to the astronauts for 50 years. And we have a quote from NASA saying one gram of algae has the same nutrition as a thousand grams of fruits and vegetables.
9:36So one to a thousand. So the science was there, the endorsements were there. It comes in tablets so you don't have to swallow them. There's no prep. You just open your mouth down the hatch. It replaces most of your multivitamins. Your grocery bill will drop. The only problem it seemed was that nobody outside of Asia knew what it was, knew what it did, and there wasn't a clean, safe source because most of it's grown in China or India. We grow ours in Taiwan. I can tell you what makes us different later. So I thought, okay, I'm going to educate people about algae. And I am going to start a company that provides people with a safe, clean, nutrient dense source of it.
10:16And I argued with the universe for years, literally like find somebody else because there's so much science about this. But I am a great communicator. I enjoy educating people. I was the right person. I'm wearing green because algae is green and it's very flowy. But I need to help people understand the difference between macroalgae, microalgae, spirulina, and chlorella. Because we need help. Our world needs help. Nutritionally, spiritually, environmentally, mentally. And algae is your go-to. It is your lifeline for just about everything.
10:50Lindsey Simcik:So I guess why don't we know about this? Why isn't this widespread knowledge? Why isn't it being, you know, they're keeping it from us. or, you know, what have you found, like, in your work? I've come to my explanation. There's about three points to it. First of all, 99 % of spirulina and chlorella, which are the two main algae, is grown in Asia. China, Taiwan, Korea, and so India. It's not grown here. So we can see wheat fields, corn fields, tomato patches, no algae farms. in in taiwan or china or india you can't ride your bicycle without going by a big farm of growing spirulina or chlorella or drive to work so it's just not in our what's called vernacular we just don't see it could we grow it here absolutely well in fact i plan long term to grow it in florida because taiwan and is where the gold standard is has the same climate as florida i drew a line across the globe and got to florida so that is my long-term goal because it does have to be.
11:55And I'm also trying to get algae on the food pyramid because it's high protein and a vegetable. So, but number one, it's not grown here. It should be grown here, but we don't grow up with it. So we don't know anything about it. That's the first one. Number two, remember I mentioned there's a hundred thousand studies about, and thank God for all these scientists and they're all around the world. Some of them are America, some are in Asia, some are in Europe, but here's the thing with scientists. They are rewarded by publishing papers. They get tenure at universities. They get bonuses for publishing papers.
12:27They get no rewards for talking to consumers about their science. And they are so caught up in the jargon of their science and they're in silos of their science, they don't know how to. So all of this great resource of science that's sitting there and has been sitting there for decades, there's no connector to the consumer. It's just sitting there. And the people in this community, the scientific community, they know about algae and what it does and what it can, how it can change the world, but they don't have a vehicle for sharing that. And I like to find analogies. In fact, I'm writing a book, um, and I'm calling it science with sarcasm because I walk people through how their bodies work.
13:06Why algae fits all is the key to unlock great health, but I make it fun reading, but it's very science-based. So, so that's what I do really well. I've recorded 300 teaching videos. They're only like a minute and a half each. Cause that's all anybody will watch on TikTok. But we don't have access to the science because the scientists are not rewarded for sharing this information. Yeah, it's like a different brain. And then the third one is algae is a food. It's not a chemical. And so the biotech companies aren't going to promote it, the pharmaceutical companies, because they can't get a patent on it.
13:41And then food companies, if you've noticed, they never launch new things. They wait for a passionate entrepreneur to show there's a need. Like, think about it. We never knew about collagen powder until maybe 15 years ago when Vital Proteins launched it, but it had been used for centuries in other countries. We didn't know about bone broth until Ancient Nutrition launched it, and it's been used in countries. Same with algae. It's been used for centuries. So I just need to help people understand what it is, know the differences, why to take it, when to take it, what it does, the science behind it, so we can make algae mainstream.
14:17But those are the three main reasons people don't know about it. I love hearing your story too, because I think for a lot of our women, they're women that want to find purpose. They maybe are living and working in jobs that they don't feel aligned or excited about. And they're people that want to make change in the world. They're people that want to help the world. And I really love that you follow these like breadcrumbs. Yes, they were very much breadcrumbs. Of your intuition and these breadcrumbs of, okay, I like this. I'm going to follow it. My sister has this thing because Dharma is often created by trauma, like things you've been through, you alchemize in a service, you alchemize this really painful experience in a service.
14:51And so you followed the breadcrumbs to nutrition, to algae, to all these things. And oftentimes God really does that because you have to be sculpted into the person to serve with this. What has been some of like the pushback you've gotten about algae? Like, cause I'm sure it wasn't super easy to bring this out into the world. What was, tough about it. Well, I knew it was going to take a long time and I, but I know it's needed. I didn't know it was going to take 17 years and we're still just really at the starting line. So I knew I couldn't take outside investors because they're impatient. They want their money back after five years and they control everything that you do.
15:27So I, they're like, we want to help your vision and replace your entire team and do all this. It's like, okay. So the number one, most, the hardest thing was doing this myself. And I was by myself for the first five or six years because I had to get the science. And I might as well just spill all my guts. I went through bankruptcy because I had no money. I had my car repossessed. I was in foreclosure for three years, but I refused to give up because I knew the universe had picked me and I was not going to let the universe down. So that's all behind me. Can you just say really quickly, because a lot of women are going to be like, how do I know the universe chose me for this?
16:05Like they're going to feel a calling on their heart. How did you know? Because, um, there was just something in my heart and your soul will never shout at you. And I put, I have a chapter on this in my book. Um, it just whispers. And, and if something just resonates with you, makes you feel calm, makes you feel joy, even if it makes zero, this made no sense. My family thought I was having a, lifetime crisis. My friends abandoned me because I had no money. I lived on eggs and algae for two years, literally. And what are my favorite foods now? Eggs and algae. Although, you know, so, but it, it just spoke to me and it made no sense whatsoever, but it spoke to me.
16:49And I thought, okay, well, and this is how you said exactly that the universe will not show you the end game, how to get there. Although I did download in one moment, everything that I just knew I had to do this.
17:05Lindsey Simcik:I will say being pregnant again has made me even more intentional about the choices I'm making. I've done a few episodes on this. I found myself reading labels more closely, investing in higher quality products and asking what do I actually trust enough to use every single day. My standards have definitely gotten higher. That's one of the reasons Ritual has remained part of my routine. Their essential prenatal is the number one best-selling prenatal and the only leading prenatal backed by its own human clinical trial. I also really appreciate the experience of taking it. The capsules were designed with an upset stomach in mind and dissolve in the small intestines.
17:46Lindsey Simcik:And compared to other supplements I've tried, they've felt easier to overall to take and gentler overall. I trust that I'm getting thoughtfully selected traceable ingredients like choline, folate, and omega-3. And I love that Ritual aligns with the choices I am already making. They're non-GMO, gluten and major allergen free, and don't use synthetic colorants. Don't settle for less than evidence-based support. Save 25 % on your first month at ritual.com slash almost 30. That's ritual.com slash almost 30 for 25 % off your first month. I've become a little bit of a supplement skeptic lately, not because I don't believe in them, but because I started asking, is my body actually absorbing any of this?
18:31Lindsey Simcik:That's what I find so fascinating about the absorption company. They're focused on solving the biggest problem in supplements, low absorption. Most supplements absorb at less than 16%, meaning a lot of what we're taking never actually gets utilized by the body. I've been using their magnesium, which supports things like sleep, stress regulation, and recovery. And most magnesium absorbs really, really poorly, but theirs absorbs eight times better. I've also been taking their berberine because most berberine absorbs at less than 1%. And theirs was designed to deliver significantly better bioavailability to support metabolism, blood sugar, and craving support.
19:15Lindsey Simcik:Start taking supplements your body can actually absorb. Go to absorbmore.com and enter almost 30 at checkout for up to 35 % off your first order. That's absorbmore.com and enter almost 30 at checkout for 35 % off your first order. There was no B plan. What was that moment? I was just sitting in my dining room table when I realized when I started realizing all this stuff about algae and the science was there and it was safe and endorsed and I I read so much I thought this is crazy why don't people know about it and then that's when I got this download they will know about it and you are the one that's going to tell them about it and I just thought okay so I just was not going to let anything stop me and I got on shark tank and they they didn't invest.
20:04I didn't want their money, but it'd be visibility. And I just, I just toughed it out. What was it like to be on Shark Tank? What was that experience like? Scary? Well, because I didn't want their money and they never gave me.
20:15Lindsey Simcik:That's like a strategy people do now, right? Going on Shark Tank to get visibility. It was 10 years ago that I did it. Whoa. That's crazy. I know. So like, and I know exactly the date because I turned 70 this year and the day I was on Shark Tank, I flew directly to Miami after that to party with my sister because I was celebrating my 60th birthday. Wow. So it was recorded, you know, like literally days before my 60th birthday and aired a couple of days before Thanksgiving that year. So it was, you know, 2016. They've aired my segment about 150 times. They make fun of me because I was so passionate, but, and I told them to swallow the tablets because I knew they wouldn't like the flavor and they chewed them and they said, I'm always going to eat this stuff.
20:57So, um, anyways, it was, it was a lot of work. Did it drive sales? No, actually nothing at all. No way. Nothing at all. Because the people watching, uh, Shark Tank are armchair entrepreneurs. This was a health. You're right. When I was on, um, um, Dave Asprey's podcast or Ben Greenfield's podcast, our sales went through the roof because it's a very curated science oriented crowd. And I have the science And I got my PhD last year in natural health, uh, just because I wanted people to feel comfortable that I do know the science. And it was also to give myself the confidence that I know. I think that's a good point too.
21:32Cause I think a lot of times people think that any exposure is going to be helpful and that could have been helpful, but it is true that if it's not the right audience, you're going to have to, you have to take them. There's a, there's a whole journey that you have to take people on to get to the point where they understand how important your health and wellness is and the people have been of ours, those shows people get it. They're like, okay how can i optimize how can i support myself but they are you're right those people are not necessarily interested in that my my team is excited when they tell people oh she was on shark tank and and so you i have to meet people where they are and so a lot of people know shark tank i was just interviewed on monday you know two days ago by dr phil and that will air in a couple of weeks and that's a big name and yeah his audience are mostly women yeah and they're having they're over 40 and they're having chronic ill issues and so algae spirulina and chlorella helps so much with those chronic issues and we'll go into some of the detail so um i'll just i i'll just do whatever it takes the universe picked me i am not going to leave this world without making algae as mainstream as drinking water or taking collagen powder because we need it we desperately need it and it and it was the first life on earth spirulina is technically a bacteria no silly as well it's called a cyanobacteria.
22:44And the science proves cyanobacteria was the first life on earth, not just the first plant, the first life. So I say there's something spiritual about being the first life. So I call spirulina, spiritualina. I love that. Because before this cyanobacteria, earth was just gas and water, no oxygen, no life. And then nobody really knows why this single cell organism started growing and then it released oxygen as it created what's called ATP. And within a billion years, there was enough oxygen for other life forms to grow like chlorella. And then after that, more life forms. So we are all evolved from spirulina.
23:28Wow. Yeah. So this is why, and our mitochondria are what generate cellular energy for us. And there's a direct link between spirulina and our mitochondria. I can imagine.
23:40Lindsey Simcik:I want to get into the benefits and just, I think it's so fascinating. So you mentioned that there's two, chlorella and spirulina. Yes. So is it just those two? Well, no. So actually - Sorry, is chlorella and spirulina algae? What's the three words? So algae is a food category, just like mushrooms are a food category. And within algae as a category, there's two subcategories. There's macroalgae and microalgae. Okay. And I'll tell you what macroalgae is. These are both micro. Macroalgae is that stringy stuff you see washing up on shore, also known as seaweed, dulse, or kelp. There's a couple hundred various strains, but they're only in the sea, which is why it's called seaweed.
24:25And it's still good for you because it has lots of fiber and iodine because it comes from the ocean, but it has virtually zero nutrition. So lots of fiber, zero nutrition. That's macroalgae. stringy stuff. This is microalgae. It's called micro because it's microscopic in size. You can't see it with your eye. I read that you could get a million microalgae on the head of a pin. That's how tiny it is. So when we, tablets are on the floor, when you consolidate it into these tablets, you start to understand why there's so much nutrition. So microalgae has either zero fiber like spirulina or a little bit of fiber like chlorella, but it is concentrated.

25:08There is nothing in the world with more nutrition than microalgae. Now within microalgae, there's tens of thousands of strains, but the two that are harvested as an agricultural crop in fresh water is spirulina and chlorella. So there's lots of, oh, sorry, I missed a step. Within the microalgae, there's different strains. There's blue, green, and green. And spirulina is one strain of blue, green, and chlorella is one strain of green. And I mention that because sometimes you'll go online and you'll read about a blue, green algae closing your favorite beach. We're not talking about spirulina. It's just another strain of blue, green.
25:50So think of it if someone said, oh, all the Fuji apples are poisonous. That doesn't mean the Macintosh ones are poisonous or the green apples. is just the Fuji. So when you read about a blue-green algae, it's not spirulina. It's just another strain of blue-green. Now, the reason why spirulina is called a blue-green algae is because it has two pigments in it. The green one that everyone knows, which is chlorophyll, but there's a blue one that you've probably never heard of. It's only in spirulina called phycocyanin, which is spelled with a P-H-Y-C-O-I-N-I-N. And I want to talk to you about some of the healing properties of that blue pigment because one of them is pretty big.
26:28It kills cancer cells, proven in science. So it's a blue-green algae because it has two pigments in it. Chlorella is a green algae because it only has one pigment, which is chlorophyll, and it has the highest chlorophyll in the world. It has 500 times more chlorophyll than arugula or even 25 times more than liquid chlorophyll. There's nothing in the world. It's called chlorella because of the chlorophyll. But anyway, so these are the two that are grown in agricultural crops, hydroponically, which means in fresh water. Whether you buy ours at energybits.com or you go to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods and you buy algae tablets, they're 99 % sure they're grown in fresh water.
27:09So not from the ocean. Yes, there is algae in the ocean, but these two strains of microalgae are harvested as food crops. And in Taiwan, which is where we grow ours, it's a multi-billion dollar industry. I mean, this is not a small, this is what freaked me out 17 years ago. It's like, if these farms, and it's not just Taiwan, it's China and India, and they've been growing them for 60 years, and I have a whole chapter on the origin story, but it's a major agricultural industry there. And people take it every day. In Japan, they don't leave their house without taking chlorella algae they don't take supplements like we do they take this and by the way the japanese have the best longevity they have two blue zones they have the lowest cancer rates uh great skin and hair and very low obesity rates and i'm not saying it's just the
28:00Lindsey Simcik:chlorella but it certainly contributes to it so uh and growing algae isn't like growing broccoli it's like making wine so the um taiwan is a gold standard because of the angle of the sun which is why I also want to grow it in Florida, but also the production processes. And we'll talk about what makes ours different because we do it so carefully. We preserve all the nutrients so that you get maximum value and there's no toxins. I could imagine that the water would be probably the most important piece. Very important. Well, it's equally important as the fact that we don't use high heat because, and I was just in Taiwan last week.
28:36Cool. What's What's Taiwan like? I took a whole, pardon me? What's Taiwan like? It's very developed. It's very industrial. Interesting. Like all the microchips for all of the computers that are made in America. Oh, right. But the people are lovely, very friendly. I thought you were going to be like, all the people are microchipped. Yeah, yeah. I'm like, that's our future. Yeah, that's coming next. It is next. When you take their rapid train, it's like being on the Amtrak. Wow. You think you're, yeah, the signage on the highways is those green banks. You swear you're in New Jersey or somewhere.
29:06That's what it feels like. It's like New Jersey. And I went to the top of that building 101. Yeah, you just climbed. It's quite industrial. But where our algae is grown is at the tip of the eye of Taiwan, where it's all agricultural and the base of a mountain range. So the water that we grow it in comes from the mountain. So it's pure mountain water, and it's triple filtered, so no toxins. And we do third-party lab tests here in the United States to insure people. But I took a film crew with me because I want people to see where we grow it, how we dry it, how we tablet it. Because with AI, you just don't know what's real anymore.
29:44So there's Catherine at the LG farm. I almost fell in. And, you know, it was and the people that grow it for us, they've been doing it for 60 years. They're family owned companies. They take a lot of pride in what they're doing. And so they are they're the only companies that will do it the way we want it done. Because the other piece is not to use high heat to dry the algae. Because there's some nutrients I'll talk about that women need to know about in both these algae that protect them from aging and accelerated aging and mitochondria damage. But they are damaged and deactivated by high heat.
30:23So all those lesser expensive algae that are grown in India or China, they're lower priced. So they need to cut corners to get to market quickly. they use high heat to dry things. So I tell people it's like getting a great deal on a car, except you lift the hood and there's no engine in there. So don't cheat yourself because these nutrients are critical, particularly as you get into menopause.
30:47Lindsey Simcik:So it's a raw food, technically. It is a raw food. And in fact, spirulina is a live food. Chlorella is technically not because we have to crack the cell wall for your body to absorb the nutrients, but they are both raw foods no processing no heat nothing we call them bits because they're bits of nutrition bits of food nothing else in there
31:11Lindsey Simcik:summer is always a funny time because i want to enjoy the burgers at the barbecue i don't know about you the breakfast bagel before a beach day that's my thing uh the pasta salad at a friend's house but um i also want to make choices that support how i want to feel i've realized i don't do well with the all or nothing approach anymore. That's just not me. That's why I've been loving hero bread. I was honestly shocked by how soft and fluffy and delicious everything is that they make. There's no stiff cardboard texture, just the bread, buns, tortillas, and bagels you actually crave. I've been using their tortillas for easy lunch wraps for myself, for my son.
31:51Lindsey Simcik:Their bagels when I need something quick and satisfying in the morning. And nutritionally, it's such an easy swap. Depending on the product, Hero has 0-5 grams of net carbs, 0 grams of sugar, and 11-32 grams of fiber, which is unbelievable. They even have noodles with 32 grams of fiber and 12 grams of protein. I'm obsessed with the noodles. So is my son and husband. So Hero Bread is offering 10 % off your order. Go to hero.co and use code A30POD at checkout. That's code A30POD at H-E-R-O dot C-O. what does um what's been like your experience from a spiritual perspective connecting with the plants connecting with that type of kingdom and plants speak to each other and so um i'm just so i feel so connected to plants and trees in particular i love trees this is why i moved recently to a place called coconut grove because there's so many big hundred year old trees there and i feel that i'm the voice of algae but i'm also the voice of plants i don't know enough about plant medicine, but I want to learn more.
32:55Well, plant medicine, I think also people assume it's the psychoactive ayahuasca, things like that, but it is very much also other things too. Because what I'm learning is not only are the nutrients in plants, like the phytonutrients and the chlorophyll important, plants have these little things called exosomes, which are kind of like your, think of it like your car. So if you want to go to the grocery store, you have to get in your car to get there. So, and you have your money to buy your stuff at the grocery store. So the nutrients are kind of like your money that you can find in plants, but you still have to get to the grocery store to buy more stuff.
33:31The exosomes are like your car. They take the nutrients into the, your cells. Most cells, particularly specialized cells have what's called receptor cells that are special entry points for nutrients. And so you, you have to have these receptor cells to get the nutrients in. But with exosomes, it's like you go to the grocery store and you can park your car anywhere because there's nobody there. Exosomes get access to all of your cells. They are the delivery vehicle to deliver the nutrients. So they're very, very important. That's why you can have just even homeopathic is just the vibration of particular plants and very microscopic amounts.
34:14Oh, that's interesting because the exosomes. And also energy. Totally. And I'm a big believer in energy. I didn't mention it. I trained as a Reiki healer. I don't actually practice it. But energy is everything. And plants, if you look at, they're just energetic if you look at the photography, the Kirlin photography. Yeah. So they speak to ourselves. And because we ultimately came from plants, our biology is very similar. There's a connection, a spiritual, historic, biological connection. so um so yeah i'm very proud to represent algae and to a certain extent the plant world
34:52Lindsey Simcik:you mentioned that there are nutrients here that are very important for women in particular can we talk about those yes so um women suffer more than men in general with brain fog depression and anxiety and it goes it gets accelerated as they get into perimenopause and menopause and so a couple of things that are happening as everybody ages they lose certain nutrients like melatonin that help you sleep and hormones like estrogen but there's another one that we all lose that most people don't know about and it's an antioxidant called superoxide dismutase short form is sod and i say it's your sos so what does this stuff do well i have to give you a bit of a little science lesson because we all have heard of i hope mitochondria and what they do is they generate cellular energy.
35:41This is energy you need for everything, for living, not just running to the grocery store or going to a great workout. You need it for thinking, for digesting, for lymphatic system. Everything is propelled by this stuff called cellular energy, and it has a name. It's called ATP, and it's made in the mitochondria through a process called the electron transport chain, which I know sounds geeky. I'm really sore. Sorry about that. But the electron transport chain a byproduct of this ATP is just the way it is, are free radicals. And we know free radicals are damaging. And the free radical that is released during the production of ATP is called super oxide.
36:21So Mother Nature in her brilliance gave us a way to protect us from this free radical called superoxide by giving us an antioxidant called superoxide dismutase. Dismutase means to demute, to decrease. It's sort of like dimming your lights. So you have this stuff, SOD I'll say, from the moment you're born. But as you get to 30, your body starts producing less of it, and 40 even less of it, 50 even less of it. And the way I describe SOD is, think of it like a big golf umbrella. If you are caught in the rainstorm, whether you're golfing or shopping, and you have one of those big golf umbrellas, boom, you're protected.
37:00You don't stop the rain, but you stop getting wet. So this stuff called superoxidismetase is like a golf umbrella. It does not stop the free radicals because they're a natural byproduct of ATP, but it protects the mitochondria and reduces it to water and oxygen. So no damage. So you want that big golf umbrella, but by 30, your golf umbrella is about the size of a totes umbrella because your body's making less of it. By the time you're 40 or 50, it's about the size of a cocktail umbrella. This is when your mitochondria start getting damaged. And if you don't have, and so you have less mitochondria as you get older, and the ones that are there aren't working well.
37:39This is why you have less energy. This is why you have fatigue. This is why you have brain fog, because there's just not enough cellular energy to go around to help anybody. And your brain has the most mitochondria, has 2 million per cell. So the first thing that goes when you have more damaged mitochondria is your brain. Spirulina has the highest concentration of this stuff called superoxidinase SOD in the universe. So as your levels are decreasing, you could take spirulina. And because it's a bacteria, no cellulose wall for your body to break down, it gets instantly absorbed and goes right into the cell, right into the mitochondria.
38:19So now it restores that big golf umbrella and it helps the mitochondria to start multiplying again and being more effective at generating ATP. So this is one of the nutrients everybody needs, but particularly women, because as we hit menopause, because as we hit menopause, not only is our SOD dropping, so is our estrogen. And estrogen acts as an antioxidant for our mitochondria. So we get hit twice as hard. this is why we get hit twice as hard so superoxidism is critical now the other cool thing about spirulina that blue pigment that i talked about it has spirulina is blue chlorella is green yes chlorella is a green algae spirulina is a blue green algae so one of the reasons why spirulina gives you energy is that it has this blue phycocyanin that does something really cool so there's this thing called electron transport chain there's four molecules they pass electrons from one another, sort of like a relay race.
39:17But there's two helper molecules along the way. One's called CoQ10, which people have heard of. The other one is called cytochrome C, which they'd never heard of. And in a healthy cell, this blue phycocyanin, it takes that cytochrome C molecule and revs it up, sort of like a Ferrari. So it moves the electrons across faster. So this is one of the reasons why you get more energy. But that only happens in a healthy cell. In an unhealthy cell or a cancer cell, the blue phycocyanin says, hey, you're not healthy. I'm not speeding you up. I'm going to kick you out of here. It ejects it, which triggers something called apoptosis, which kills the cell.
39:56So in a cancer or, and this is all proven in science, and I have the papers, I can send them to you. This unhealthy cell or cancer cell, the blue pigment kills cancer cells. In a healthy cell, it gives you more energy. And also that blue phycocyanin heals your telomeres in your brain, which shrink as you get older. So your DNA is exposed, which also causes damage. So this prevents that as well. So very, very important. Is it the goal lengthening of the telomeres? Pardon me? Don't you want to lengthen your telomeres? Yes, the telomeres start long, but every time the cell divides, the telomere, the ends of the telomere shrink a little bit.
40:32So the cell can subdivide about 50 times before that it shrinks, shrinks, shrinks, shrinks until the very end. Now the DNA is exposed, which means it can get more it can be exposed to free radical damage which causes DNA so this prevents the shrinkage so once again with the shrink of that this is also helpful for for women wow now um the other reason so the so the in the for women this helps with um uh the super oxidism taste helps get your mitochondria working again so your brain functions better so you don't have that depression or anxiety or brain fog that's going on. And we've had people with Alzheimer's, within 24 hours of taking this, their brain is working better again.
41:15Very, very important. Now, another interesting thing and why this is helpful for women and men, actually, is this thing, and maybe you've heard a little bit about it, is iron, stored iron. Because men have more stored iron than women. And it's a health issue because iron oxidizes. If you've ever seen an abandoned car in a field or boats in a dock, you'll see rust. That's because the iron is oxidizing with the oxygen. That causes rust. And in your body, if you have too much stored iron, that oxidation causes free radicals. So you literally rust from the inside. And men have way more iron than women until women hit menopause.
42:01The reason why women up until menopause don't have a problem with stored iron is because we menstruate. Once a month, we lose blood. And in your blood, that's where 90 % of your iron is. Think of your circulating iron that's in your blood. Think of it like your checking account. Your checking account changes daily based on what you spend, what you deposit. And so same with your circulating iron in your blood. And so when you release more blood from menstruation, you pull any excess stored iron out at the same time, which is a good thing. The stored iron is like your savings account. It doesn't change very much.
42:41Hopefully it builds up. So for women, we don't have, as you're menstruating in your premenstrual menopausal years, you don't have any problem with stored iron. As soon as you stop menstruating, those stored iron levels go up. which means now women who are not having periods anymore have the same high levels of iron as men do, which increases the oxidation, which increases the inflammation, which causes more health issues. So that contributes to some of these brain health issues, weight gain issues, metabolism issues, sleep issues. And one of the things that can prevent that is, and it's a complicated science lesson is manganese and both of the two uh is algae have the daily requirement of manganese so it can interesting so in that process it will grab the manganese instead of the iron so you don't have that oxidative issue interesting i've had to take more that's interesting i'm detoxing from mold right now i have mold in my blood and she's been telling me to take manganese yeah yeah so that's good that i have this so i can have that i think a lot of people and need more manganese and i do want to talk about chlorella because it has i had more poisoning as well yeah and i just doubled down on my chlorella and it was gone within about a month because i had brain fog fatigue it was it was horrible yeah a lot of a lot of the women all all of my clients that i've worked with it's interesting i've gone through their own mold journey because so many homes in america are just not made very well we're just not really careful or anything like that climate or if you're in a southern climate if there's rain people aren't taking care of it.
44:18They're, you know, it can just really get in your blood. It can stay in your blood for up to 20 years. And so I got tested recently. I think it was my last place. I think actually it was that, um, place that we lived in because I remember in the showers and on the wall. And so it's great that, yeah, that can be helpful for that. How is it impacting skin? Cause I just feel like my skin is glowing. Yeah. Well, because your skin is your largest organ. And so, um, nourishing all organs is critical and they're nourished from the blood and they're nourished by the nutrients that the blood is carrying.
44:49So when you have spirulina and chlorella daily, you are nourishing every part of your body, including your skin. So it feeds the epidermis levels. And so it builds collagen. Your skin is basically kept firm and taut with collagen and elastin. So collagen is like the filling and the elastin is like the structure. Now the structure, the elastin can get damaged by free radicals and also excess calcium. So because we are reducing free radical damage throughout the body because you have your superoxidismutase and because you have high protein, I didn't mention it, but both of them have the highest protein in the world and the 18 of the 20 aminos because your body can't absorb protein.
45:36It has to break it down into these smaller molecules called aminos. I say they're like Legos. So both of them have 18 of the 20, including the nine your body can't make. So they're complete proteins. So they're nourishing your skin with all the collagen that you need. And it's protecting the elastin by removing the free radicals and also excess calcium. Also, the high alkalinity will help with any blemishes because blemishes are, there are some from, um, hormones and from stress. Um, but, um, the ones that are caused by bacteria, this will eliminate because the alkalinity will reduce the, because chlorophyll kills bacteria because in your mouth, in your skin, in your colon, everywhere.
46:22And chlorella has the highest chlorophyll in the world. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. This is like a, this algae is mother nature's pharmacy.
46:29Lindsey Simcik:Wow. Full stop. So would you say that you said earlier that this can serve as like your multivitamin. So I would love to talk about the time that we're in and especially I know our audience will nod their head when I say that there's a lot of supplements out there and it's very tempting to try the thing, see what works, but usually we're trying many at once. We don't really know what's working. We actually don't know what we need for our own bodies. So can you talk to me about what you meant when you said like this can replace your multivitamin and also being in this space, you know, what do you have to say about the supplement industry?
47:08Lindsey Simcik:And I know this is not a supplement, but just in general. Yeah. Well, there's a chapter in my book about this. So there are some exceptions, of course, and there's some good companies, but there are very few of them. The trouble with most supplements is they are made from synthetics and they use high heat to blend them. Your body can't recognize synthetics. And anytime you use high heat, you deactivate enzymes and critical nutrients. So in most cases, whether, I'm not going to name any brands, but there's a lot that are basically worthless. So you aren't absorbing them. And some things, in fact, like people who are, please stop taking iron supplements because iron supplements tend to be made from an inorganic material, means a rock.
47:52so you can get into toxicity if you are using some supplements like iron supplements i just started taking one please don't take this yes you told me you want what's called inorganic so the iron came from a vegetable or a plant wow because if you need it you'll absorb it if you don't you won't right and you can never get to toxicity from things that come from food so so number one supplements aren't usually absorbed so they're not going to do what you think they want you need to do. And the other thing is, the way I compare supplements to algae is when you take supplements, it's like listening to individual musicians playing different music, different instruments, and it's just noise.
48:38Your body's trying to figure out what it is that you're giving it. Algae has 40 vitamins and minerals that we test. There's even more than we know than that. and because it's food it has all the enzymes and co-enzymes factors and co-factors it's the symphony you know when you go to a symphony there's the strings the brass the percussion the piano the soloist and you you get this rich robust all-encompassing feeling that you just can't get from soloists you don't have to worry about to take it with fat or not with fat with citrus or not with mother nature has done all of that for you so i can't take any credit for algae at all i will take credit for growing it so carefully that we keep the soloists and the percussionists and all the instruments fine-tuned so they work really well and we keep all the the noise out so that you can get the full experience so it's it's the robustness of everything that's in the algae and that your body recognizes it and absorbs it because it's not just what you eat it's what you absorb yeah and if you have compromised digestion and autoimmune people have done uh trouble with digestion i want to talk about digestion because that's when we're going to talk about chlorella and elimination and there's so much constipation and this is there's some real hazards to that so all of this has been crafted for us by nature and then we preserve it so it works beautifully for everyone um so you need i say spirulina gives you nutrition in and chlorella pulls toxins out um spirulina gives you energy and focus and nourishments which you want during the day so generally it's a morning lunchtime afternoon pre-workout algae chlorella will pull out toxins build your immune system help you sleep help you poop which we'll talk about in a minute poop is my favorite topic um so generally we recommend it before bed because that's when your body goes through a detox repair cycle you can take it during the day but you get the most benefits if you take it at night.
50:37So it's a nighttime algae. So nutrition in for spirulina, toxins and all the bad junk in your trunk by chlorella. So a lot of our women do have digestion issues. They maybe aren't going regularly. Maybe they're not digesting everything. Maybe their tummy hurts. Why do you think this is a good support for someone that has digestion issues. Maybe there's bloating. Yes. Well, chlorella has been used for decades for IBS and Crohn's disease. And the reason for that is multiple. First of all, it does have fiber in it because it has a hard cell wall. So that feeds your gut biome. It is literally a prebiotic.
51:16So that's number one. It has the hard, that hard cell wall attaches to all heavy metals, lead, mercury, radiation, all toxins, mold spores, toxins released from microplastics, alcohol, lactic, it chelates them, so it pulls them out. So we've got the heart cell wall, which chelates, and the heart cell wall fiber, which feeds your gut biome. It has the highest chlorophyll in the world, which kills bad bacteria. This also accentuates the ability for your gut to have the good bacteria, so it's getting rid of the bad guys. It kills them in your mouth, your colon, everywhere. And also, you only absorb about 2 % of the chlorophyll in your stomach.
51:58The rest of it travels through your liver and all the way down through your gut where it's it's like your Roomba it's just pulling all the it's your scrub-a-dub pulling all this stuff that shouldn't be there out and then your poop will be a little green so don't panic if you if it's dark it's not bad it's good it's a badge of honor that the chlorophyll made its way down so that's helpful now the other thing is that chlorella has the highest concentration of tryptophan in the world there's going to be two things I want to tell you about tryptophan. One is sleep. Tryptophan is a precursor to melatonin.
52:32Melatonin helps you sleep, gets you into deep sleep. And if you aren't getting deep sleep, you are not repairing. When you are in deep sleep, that's when your brain shrinks a little bit. So your lymphatic, it's called the glymphatics, it can clean out all the junk that's there and it can repair everything. So you want to get into deep sleep. So the tryptophan helps, it has five times more than, than, uh, turkey. So it helps you get into the deep sleep. It will not put you asleep. It will just help you get there. Wow. Even more importantly, tryptophan is a precursor to something called serotonin, which is the happy mood neurotransmitter.
53:06Now, interestingly, 80 % of your serotonin is made and used in your gut. And so this triggers that happy mood transmitter in two ways. Number one, as we get older, our serotonin receptors, remember I said there's special receptor cells, they start to decrease after the age of 20. So this is one of the reasons why women suffer more from anxiety and depression as they get older because they have fewer serotonin receptors and they have less serotonin being produced. There's a drug called SSRIs, which are serotonin. They help you uptake serotonin. You don't need those if you're taking chlorella. This does it naturally.
53:51It helps restore the serotonin receptors, and it generates more serotonin in your gut so they can be received in your brain naturally. Unbelievable, right? But it's even better. serotonin it and you can go online and google this it triggers what's called bowel motility which is a fancy word for saying bowel movements poop and so when you are taking chlorella it is stimulating and serotonin which will help you have regular bowel movements no drugs no fiber no stool softeners just does it naturally so um so you need if you're take if you're having bowel movement issues constipation because here's the thing what what's constipation is stuff that's
54:41Lindsey Simcik:sitting in your colon i call it the junk in your trunk and if it's not moving out the stuff that's there is stuff your body didn't want toxins other stuff and if you don't remove it a it's uncomfortable by the way i found i read a statistic there are 800 000 uh emergency visits in america for constipation every year 800 000 and so crazy it's crazy i had a client who thought her appendix ruptured and she was constipated yeah and so your blood is picking up all the toxins that are sitting there in your colon this is why colon cancer is on the rise so we need to get rid of But A, because it's uncomfortable, it's scary, and it's life-threatening, quite honestly.
55:26Right. Wow.
55:26Lindsey Simcik:Does your body reabsorb the toxins? Yes, because if it's sitting there, the blood circulates around. And I have another tip for constipation. It has nothing to do with algae, but again, it's a plant. Fresh pineapple. Ladies, get yourself fresh pineapple. You can get it pre-cut from Whole Foods. Almost every deli will have it. it's the bromelain that helps with digestion you will be pooping like an olympic star if you pair part pair the chlorella which will give you other benefits like the chlorophyll and the phytonutrients and blah blah blah but it will help with the serotonin uptake because you still want that serotonin but the bromelain in the pineapple because i had a small little um it was a minor little surgery thing and my doctor told me to make sure i eat a a cup of pineapple every day And I said, well, why is that?
56:18Apparently pineapple, the enzymes in pineapple are very healing for skin. For wounds. For wounds. So I started taking that. And I was already doing pretty well on my daily trip to the bathroom. But man, I was an Olympic gold medalist when I added the pineapple. And I tell everybody I know, chlorella and pineapple, you do not need those artificial things on the pharmacy counters. You do not need to go to the ER. Those dry you out usually. They dry you out. And I can't eat a lot of fiber. It just gives me gas because some of the cello husks some people take. That's not for me either. So this is the answer.
57:00That's great. Isn't that great? Get our girls pooping.
57:02Lindsey Simcik:When people say they, you know, if they eat a lot of vegetables or certain vegetables, they get bloated or it really makes their tummy upset. I guess what is happening? It's the fiber. And what is, I guess the spirulina doesn't have the wall. The spirulina has zero fiber. So you can get all the nourishment that you need from the spirulina. But because it's very high protein, you really need the chlorella to facilitate the exit. Right. Because it's the one that has the high tryptophan that stimulates the serotonin. You don't need vegetables. I hardly ever eat vegetables anymore. Like almost nothing.
57:40partly because I get gas too from I love broccoli but it just gives me gas and when I travel and I travel a lot I know if I'm eating that salad there is glyphosate on there it's it's just the way it is yeah so I get all my chlorophyll and phytonutrients from my two algae and I eliminate anything that is on the vegetables or I eat salad still with the chlorella so it's your it's your lifeline so I call this your health at chlorella your health insurance I call spirulina your nutritional insurance so the two of them work very well and also chlorella spirulina because it has is so healing for your mitochondria and your brain has the most mitochondria this is very much brain food and we know that fatty fish is brain food because of the high omega-3 well i tell people where do you think the fish get the omega-3 from right they get it from algae so this is brain food chlorella is gut food and of course they're joined by something called the vagus nerve so as you heal one you'll help heal the other one and you don't honestly you don't really need vegetables if you're taking chlorella every day and you do need to take it every day but you can replace a multivitamin you can replace a fish oil please stop taking fish oil and definitely stop taking say more about that well fish oil is um from fish and the oceans are so damaged and they're overfishing anyways that it's causing a lot of injury to the ocean environment and fish oil oxidate anything that's fatty including your brain and you've tasted it i can't take i tried every single brand i can't take i stopped taking fish oil when i started taking algae so you don't need it if you're going to take anything take primrose oil or some other um plant-based oil but but spirulina is the one that has more essential fatty acids so it does have some omega-3 not a lot but it also has something called gla which is gamma lineic acid which technically is an omega-6, but because we do not use high heat on our algae, because it's the heat that turns all these terrible omega-6s into rancid, poisonous, toxic things.
59:46So we don't use high heat. So it behaves like an omega-3. And if you think, well, I don't know, I'm uncomfortable taking an omega-6. Let me tell you, the only place that has more GLA, which is an omega-6, is mother's breast milk. And it's there because it feeds the baby's brain. We all need this particular nutrient, but you can't very well have mother's breast milk after the age of two. So spirulina, at least ours, because there's no heat involved, gives you that rich omega ability. But that's also why it's very chewy. A lot of people don't like chewing spirulina because of the high protein and the high essential fatty acids that do make it a little chewy.
1:00:26so there's no harm no shame in swallowing them or you can grind them up in a coffee grinder and throw them in your smoothie um kids love to chew them i want to ask you yeah before you ask kids my cat loves them oh the pets go crazy over them no go crazy they're smarter than we are what do you think about is that okay absolutely that's right i thought it was like actually very good she gets the minerals my cats are endocrats they don't get the greens like it's actually like my little multivitamin that I give them. They love it. And they get the same diseases. We've had people with their cats and dogs have cancer and they're sick.
1:01:00And so if it's a lap, a cat or a lap dog, maybe give them, you can give them, you know, six or 10 a day. You can do their, you know, it's a little expensive treat, but give it to them in their hand or you can crush it up if you want. I just put it on the counter and she goes, just be careful because once they start taking it, I've had so many people tell us, Oh, we, we left the bag on the counter. We came home and it was empty yeah yeah she'll knock it off and find it we'll find a way wow i've had people somebody sent me a video it was so cute they were babysitting someone's pet raccoon i didn't know there were pet raccoons it was just a baby raccoon and they put they gave the raccoon a couple of tablets and they just gobbled them up so then they put the bag on the floor oh my god that raccoon ran into the bag and we never saw the cat saw him again at least in the video it just it's unbelievable and I have a very funny story on animals.
1:01:51A friend, not a friend, a customer emailed us and said they were camping in the Adirondacks and a bear broke into their campground. So everybody scrambled and ran away and came back a couple hours later. And their baggies that had all their supplements in them were ripped open, but they were all there. The bag of energy with spirulina was ripped open and licked clean. There was not a single tablet. So even the bears still. They love it. It's wild. It's such a good little multivitamin for the babies. I'm so grateful for it. I'm grateful. I can tell her little energy.
1:02:24Lindsey Simcik:For kids, like any age and also... Spirulina, any age because there's no fiber. So if for newborns, you could even... I would just maybe... We say give children up to their age on a daily basis of spirulina. So if they're five, you can give them two or five tablets a day. If they're 10, give them five to 10. Although you could give them more, but parents generally like to have some sort of number. And so for newborns, you could take one tablet, crush it up, and put it in their baby, their water bottle. Wow. Because there's no fiber. And I did an analysis one day. I was looking at a book. And it had the amino acids found in mother's breast milk.
1:03:05And I thought, gosh, that looks awfully familiar. So I raced over to our amino acid profile for spirulina. Exactly the same aminos in virtually the same proportions. and this explained to me in japan if babies are newborn and they can't digest mother's breast milk the only thing that keeps them alive is spirulina and water they die with if you give them coconut milk anything nothing else keeps them alive and it made it made sense to me that wow you know the profile is virtually identical so wow so it's and chlorella uh because it has fiber i wouldn't give it to newborns i would wait till children are eating solid food okay um and same like same numbers yeah same numbers especially if again if they're having constipation issues and constipation people you would it's amazing how many people are constipated if you're on pharmaceutical drugs yeah prescription drugs if you're traveling eating uh processed foods too much dairy i had to eliminate dairy because it was always makes me constipated um makes me sick now yeah so you can see there's just a lot of reasons why we're constipated so don't be embarrassed just do something about it because it's not good for you not good for your kids that combination of chlorella and the and the fresh pineapple it's a it's a go-to it's a miracle yeah safe for pregnant women absolutely because you're tired you need spirulina whatever you eat is going to the baby don't get it just any spirulina though because again if it's not grown cleanly there could be toxins in there we do therapy lab tests we only sell through doctors and and clinicians and our website energybiz.com so it's clean so yes you can take it while you're pregnant you can take it while you're nursing it will the chlorella will help kill bacteria on your nipples um so it's
1:04:48Lindsey Simcik:amazing it's it's yeah interesting so mastitis yeah and then uh for more clinical doses so if we're talking about people who are have you know are sick maybe cancer maybe autoimmune things like that what is the dosage um to just fill nutritional gaps 10 tablets of spirulina and 10 for chlorella would be sufficient but for a corrective or preventative in what i call therapeutic amounts you really need 30 of each um and you can you could have we have these little pouches you could have spirulina is the only one that gives you energy and satisfies your hunger and it's the high protein the sensitive fatty acids and that blue phycocyanin um 30 could be lunch there's one calorie per tablet if anyone please if anyone's on a glp1 or even if you're just on a weight loss program.
1:05:37This has one calorie per tablet, gives you all the protein that you need so we can protect your muscles, 40 vitamins and minerals. You will not be hungry for two or three hours. It's not going to feel like a big pasta dish. It's not going to give you that stuffed feeling, which could be good too, because if you're a dancer or a performer, you don't want that big tummy. This will keep you energized and you can have more. I'm not suggesting that for their lunch. I think they should add it, but I'm not suggesting they just eat that for lunch. We have doctors who are very busy and they can't, they're in between patients and they don't have time to eat.
1:06:08And, you know, I tell people, if you can't eat in a quiet, calm environment, you can't get into that rest and digest, it's likely you'll have indigestion. So you can add this, or if you have this before your meal, you'll eat less, you'll be nourished. Again, this is your nutritional insurance, but you could in a pinch. We're not suggesting this replace food, but if you have to have something, it's sure a lot better than grabbing a fish. or crackers that are made of crappy stuff. How many grams of protein? Well, here's the thing. Is that how you measure it? So 30 tablets gives you five grams of protein, which does not sound like a lot, but which is also why if you're intermittent fasting like I do, it will not interfere with your fast.
1:06:51When you eat animal protein, which 50 grams would be about the size of chicken, for example, be the size of a small fist, but it can take, it will take hours, sometimes days to break it down into those Legos called aminos so that your body can absorb them. Now, if you don't have all the factors and cofactors, in most cases, people don't anymore these days, you may eat 50 grams of protein, but you may only be absorbing 10 % as aminos. So now that 50 grams of protein only turned into five grams of aminos with spirulina and also chlorella, but mostly spirulina because it gets absorbed instantly. So it's 99 % bioavailable.
1:07:34Those five grams of protein are five grams of aminos, one-to-one. So it's like having 50 grams of animal protein, but it's plant protein, and it's a complete protein. You don't always get complete proteins with plants. I want to try it. My dad has Alzheimer's. I would love to try and get him to have it. Oh, sterling for sure. Have it. He won't. He only eats 30 a day. Great. And you could break them up. You could do 10 in the morning and 10 at lunch and 10 in the afternoon. I really encourage people to have some at that 2 o 'clock slump. That's when your cortisol levels go down. And you're reaching for chocolate or something.
1:08:11And the kind of energy you get, it's not a stimulant. It's cellular energy. A stimulant is like putting paper on a fire. You get a burst and a crash. This is like putting a log on a fire. Very steady. So the only thing you'll feel is fresh. no drama nothing more than that you'll just feel alert that's it and I I think I love LG so much because I'm not a drama person myself which is why I couldn't have investors and I don't want it's all about integrity and honesty and and something that works and I designed all the packaging because I know what this stuff does for people on the inside and I needed to make it so beautiful on the outside so people would try it and be drawn to it.
1:08:57And I now have come up with another analogy. You know when you walk along the street and someone gives you a smile? Don't you feel great? The smile is effortless and it makes you feel great. That's what algae is. The tablets are effortless and they make you feel great. So it's like giving your body a smile from the inside. And so we all need smiles. I think we all need algae too. We do.
1:09:24Lindsey Simcik:And you're just kind of like a walking billboard for this, not just in what you're saying, but just in your vitality. Can you give us some specific, I would say, like vital improvements that you've experienced just in the later part of your life? I mean, you're still young. Let's be real. But at 70, I am like just blown away. Yeah, I know. And I used to get, I was weirded out at first. And when I got my Medicare card when I turned 65, I was depressed. Like, I'm not 65. Well, I guess I am 65 chronologically, but I certainly didn't feel it. I could not have done what I've done and built this company and stayed this passionate without these two.
1:10:05Because any entrepreneur who's listening, and moms, you're the same thing. Like, you're literally the entrepreneur of your home. You have long days. How old were you when you started? 52. Wow, blessing. Wow, look at you. I was not looking to start a company, but the universe said, you are the one. And inspiring. I feel like people listen.
1:10:25Lindsey Simcik:People think that they need to do everything by 35, 40, whatever. Absolutely not. But it requires energy to be engaged with life. And it also requires passion and purpose. And maybe your passion is your family, which is great. And that gives you purpose. But you still need energy. And you still need health. and if you don't have health it's really hard to be engaged and to do stuff so my I work seven days a week for 15 years I'm now trying while I'm writing a book so I'm back to seven days a week but 12 hour days and if I didn't have spirulina and remember for a while I had no money so this was my nourishment and then there are no sick days when you are an entrepreneur in fact I had no health care.
1:11:08I was on the state health care because I had no money. I was below the poverty line. So this kept me healthy. This helped me with my bowel movement. So I've always been a relatively energetic person, but 20s and 30s, your energy comes naturally because your mitochondria are working and you've got everything that's working. But 50s and 60s and 70s, people start to slow down and i haven't and i got my phd last year so at 68 i got the p i mean i had to write the exams i had to study for them the brain was working i've had to learn all sorts of new things because you know i run a company and i have young people um and i still am old school with a lot of stuff like i'm not using chappie gbt to write my book by the way good for you so and my skin has stayed great.
1:11:58I don't use Botox. I wear a hat every day. And so. And you're vital. You love life. I sleep well. Your business, your friends. It's beautiful. I am blessed. I am very blessed. But I will say it did take work and it took a lot of faith. It took trusting my voice that seemed so out of place. But I just thought, okay, you know, I tried it my way and I ended up in a corporate world, which made me unhappy. I'm going to try your way universe and see what happens. What do you got to lose? I know what I came from. I don't want to repeat that. So let's see. Yeah. Like can't be, it has to be better than this.
1:12:35Has to be better than this. Totally. Your way has to be better than this one. I love that so much. And I've been so grateful for these, my, for my babies, getting them supported first. And then for me feeling like I'm glowing right now, I don't do caffeine. We know we look like little cherubs right now. Not having caffeine too to have the energy. So I'm so grateful that you were here and you were able to just bestow our audience with so much wisdom, so much insight. It's also so inspiring to meet a woman that followed the call and followed her faith and really put everything on the line for something that she believed in.

Like this is the way of the new paradigm so thank you for all this is the way it used to be and we got off track this is the way it needs to be but if you don't see a role model you don't know if it's the the other way is even possible yes um and i want people to know aging is natural declining is not necessary um and when you hit 60 that's not the end that's when we get finally get our confidence but you need health at that time.
1:13:43And we need to find a way to get and protect our health, regain what you lost, protect what you have with something that's natural. Mother Nature was a gal and she's provided for us. And I just, like I say, I just, I'm her steward. I'm just her voice. So she's the one that gave this to us almost 4 billion years ago. And I think it's time we paid some attention to it, but you need it to have come from a clean, safe source. So I'm very proud of what I've done. you should be you should be thank you so much thank you so much and we have a discount code we have our discount code for y 'all almost 30 almost 30 for 20 off which is incredible so energybits.com discount code is almost 30 again this can be for pregnant nursing for your kids for your pets for anyone in your family and it's such an easy way grandparents as well i think i'm gonna get some for my dad hopefully i can make make the staff help me out on that one um It's been such a pleasure.
