In short
The hosts discuss “invisible strings” (destiny/red thread of fate) as a way to interpret relationships, career paths, and personal growth—arguing that nothing is truly random, and that connections often reveal themselves only in hindsight. They contrast “performative” friendship language (e.g., calling many people “best friends”) with deeper, quieter bonds and emphasize building trust by slowing early emotional intimacy.
Guests
No guest is clearly identified; the episode is primarily between the hosts Lindsay and Krista (co-hosts of Almost 30). Backgrounds mentioned: Krista is a former waitress/bottle girl at Bounce Sporting Club in NYC; later involved with SoulCycle and podcasting; she has children (Maverick and Lennox) and recently experienced pregnancy loss and postpartum life. Lindsay is Krista’s co-host and business partner; they’ve built Almost 30 for about 10 years and have a family (Lenny is referenced as ~3 months old).
Key claims
Invisible connections link people through mutual friends, events, and timing; spaciousness in relationships is healthy; rejection can redirect you; some connections are for lessons rather than romance.
Notable examples
Krista’s “string” from her ex-husband to Lindsay via sorority “little,” SoulCycle, and Sean (Krista met Sean in 2012 at Bounce; they reconnected in 2019). Krista describes a long chain of karmic timing with her husband (Chicago/NY, Australia plans, psychic prediction). They also share friendship “zigzag” seasons (e.g., a leadership-conference bestie who later became close again as moms).

0:07Lindsey Simcik:Saying that like a dozen people are your best friend over the course of a year, I'm like, I don't believe you. We had an invisible string through my ex-husband even. So my string to him connected me to my string to you. My little and my sorority in college knew you from SoulCycle. When I wanted to become an instructor, I said, I want to be an instructor. She's like, I know someone. So my little and my sorority connected me to you. To bring in the Sean thread, I met Sean in 2012. I was working at Bounce Sporting Club here in New York City. I was a waitress, bottle girl. He asked me out on a date, but we never dated.
0:40Lindsey Simcik:I would never say. Hello and welcome to Almost 30. Hi, everybody. Welcome to the show. It's Lindsay and Krista, your girls, your best friends. Your best friends. Happy to have you. In person. I've been talking to Lindsay about something. I'm curious what you guys think about this. I was just talking to Lindsay about how I invite a bunch of people to stuff that don't know each other and I think I don't want to do that anymore and I think I just need to be I usually am a one to one but I think I need to continue to be one to one because I get too concerned about people's experience when I do that yeah what's been like a reason I had a dinner what's kind of making I had a dinner recently where it was like someone that I knew very well and someone I didn't know well and I was supposed to originally schedule with the person I didn't know well and they had invited me and then I invited the other person who wanted to meet the other person.
1:27But the person that I knew well was like kind of like saying stuff that I felt like exclusive. Where it was like, I miss you. Like, I love you. Like kind of talking at me, which I don't like. Yeah.
1:38Lindsey Simcik:And just to you. Just to me. I don't like that. Like it makes people feel weird. 100%. And also she wasn't like showing up. Like if you're coming and you don't know someone and you're meeting them, be warm, be friendly. It's funny because if I was in that, I'd be, if that was me, you, and then someone else, because I know you and we're good I'd be less focused on you I'd be so focused on the other person yes of creating that connection of creating that like bond like I'd be that would be my focus of getting to know them because we like know each other and especially if you if she wanted to meet that person yeah you know what I mean so like the intent you know so it's a yeah I think mine stems from like I don't I don't do that typically because it stems from a little bit of anxiety about like having to or I feel like I need to manage what's happening in the room, which I think is like a something I've worked on because I'm like, I want to make sure everyone's having fun.
2:28Lindsey Simcik:I want to make sure everyone feels comfortable. The shy one that, you know, like just feeling that way. I've I've tried to push myself to do what what you're describing at times because I do think there's like amazing things that come from it. Sometimes Sean's really good at it. So I'm just like, oh, like maybe I get a bunch of girlfriends together, some of whom know each other, some of whom don't. And like low stakes situation, we can just hang. But it's not my personality. Yeah. I think I'm done with it too. And I've been to things recently where my old style was like, make everyone be obsessed with me.
3:05And now I'm less about that. So I've actually gone to a lot of stuff where I've met people and I'm like, oh, we're not going to be friends.
3:12Lindsey Simcik:You know what I mean? Like I'm actually having that experience more than ever before. Where before I'd be like, oh, now I'm like, oh, that's a cool person. We don't have that chemistry. Totally. Or that vibe. Totally. Yeah. I know almost immediately when that happens, sometimes Sean's like, oh, you don't like that person. I was like, no, I just don't. I know we're not going to be friends. Of course. So I'm just not going to invest time. Yes. And that's, it's crazy like how quick you kind of know. Yeah. You know, like, but I'm also trying, I think my new thing with friendship is like what I realized that I do is I have a lot of emotional intimacy before there is trust built.
3:48And so now my focus is building trust and slowing down emotional intimacy. I don't have this with men. I don't have emotional intimacy until four years in. And four years in when they've proven it. And maybe then they'll get a little bit of emotional intimacy for me. But they'll be having an intimate experience. I won't. But with women, I would have emotional intimacy early. But actually, it's funny because they would be having an emotionally intimate experience. And I wouldn't as much because you know me. Like, I can be emotionally intimate, but it's not like – You're asking the questions. Yes, exactly.
4:18So then they're feeling really close to me and they're feeling like we're connected. And then I'm feeling like I have to perform for the depth of connection that they feel like they have with me. Like, even the woman last night I was with, she's like, we're like best friends. And I was like, I've met you once.
4:33Lindsey Simcik:That's one of my biggest pet peeves, actually. The best friends thing? The best friend saying is one of my biggest pet peeves about people. You have the floor. You have the floor. Speak your truth. I think there is a condition that some people have, and I've only seen this with women, so I don't know if it happens with men, where they publicly declare people as their best friend bestie best girlies sister but it's not just it's not consistent meaning they'll declare this person their bestie this month and then this month now they also or or they're just on to the next person not saying that the other relationship dissolved but it's like more publicly um messaging this yeah I saw this very early on with someone I knew like from like my bar days and she was in PR and she managed um a bunch of like bachelors and so literally every post was her and like about a hot bachelor dude and like she would be they're my best friend this is my brother.
5:53Lindsey Simcik:It's my best friend. And I was just like, boo-boo. First of all, I think you have a crush on them. Yeah. Let's not get it twisted. Please. Let's not get it twisted. But it's just, and I see this with women and other women and like. The women saying the guys are their best friends that are like hot guys is the funniest to me. Is crazy. Is crazy. But I'm just like, one, what are we doing when we have to publicly just like shout to the rooftops? This is my bestie. And granted, you and I like we're on the show. We're like we do the show with my best friend like fine. But there's just something to it that I'm like you don't need to do that when you are in a true deep best friend relationship.
6:35Lindsey Simcik:And I think that bothers me. And then saying that like a dozen people are your best friend over the course of a year. I'm like I don't believe you. That's my thing. I'm like are It's like it has an immature aspect to it. It's so funny. Someone else said that one time, another person we've had on the show who I'm cool with. She's like, you know, we don't see each other a lot, but you know, we're like sisters. And I'm like, this episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Just in a season where I feel overwhelmed a lot of the time, but I've realized that it is less about fixing everything in those moments of overwhelm.
7:06Lindsey Simcik:And it's more about just being aware of the feeling of being present to the feeling. And oftentimes that reduces the feeling by quite a bit. I also know that having support is integral. I am in therapy. I've been in therapy for years and at BetterHelp, they have an incredible array of therapists to support you through any type of overwhelm you might be moving through. It is so easy. You just take a quick survey and they match you with a licensed therapist. They have thousands of therapists and millions of members in over 100 countries and people are really changing their lives by really prioritizing their inner world, their inner life and well-being and life can be overwhelming, but we don't have to be taken down by the overwhelm.
7:58Lindsey Simcik:So sign up and get 10 % off at betterhelp.com slash almost 30. It's like shocking to me. Yeah. Because I'm like, what are you talking like? And I don't mean to be mean, like it's a very sweet sentiment and there's kindness behind it but I think it's my problem that I place an archetypal expectation on myself when people do that to me where I don't it stresses me out yeah where I'm like oh you see me like that then I need to be that be that for you I need to reach out to you so this is me thing but I'm like I need to reach out to you but it's hard to not take it seriously yeah when people like say that stuff to you but I do think not that they're not saying that truthfully for themselves, but also I, I think it's lost its juice.
8:39Of course it has. You know, so it's like, even I love you.
8:42Lindsey Simcik:Yeah. I love you. Yeah. You know, you're my bestie. Like, I think it's just lost its juice. Yeah, I agree. I don't know. I think a lot of stuff really has. But the connection thing when we were at the dinner, it was reminding me a little bit because I was in New York and I was thinking about, we were talking about dating stuff and I was thinking about how many men I've loved that have lived in New York and how connected I've been to New York and that way. And I was thinking about the invisible string theory. And I was even thinking about your time in New York, my time in New York, how we didn't know each other, but we were so connected.
9:14And when we were rewriting the outro of our book, like the edits that we made to our book, which, you know, I'm so excited for you guys to see next year. We actually were given the opportunity to put a new title to the book, to rewrite parts of the book. And in the closing, we wrote about the invisible string theory, which we learned about on TikTok, which we aren't usually like TikTok theory people. But I did really love the concept because I think both of us have had experiences in our lives where we were connected to people or had these like connections with people that were really significant.
9:45And it was almost like we would have to find each other some way or somehow. And you were connected in this way that was just so meaningful in your life. So I wanted to talk about that theory because for our audience, you can think about invisible string in your life. You can feel more peace. You can feel more magic and miracles. And you can have this experience of feeling like there's something bigger than you. And there's this like divine hand and divine intervention and things. So what is the invisible string theory to you? So, um, I actually didn't know it was like, it dates back.
10:17Lindsey Simcik:Like I actually didn't know the origins and like, you know, Chinese and Japanese culture. So I knew about it from the book, The Invisible String. It's actually more so connected to kind of explaining to children about grief and loss and whatever. So I knew it in that context at first. But when I learned more about it, I just, to me, it like describes the web of life. You know, if I look at my life and, you know, location, people I've met, you know, challenging seasons I've been in, it's like, to me, it's like this beautiful connective tissue. And I think for me, I can only really see it on the other side.
11:06Lindsey Simcik:You know, it's hard to in the moment realize that this is an invisible string in your life. I think that takes just trust and faith, like blind trust and faith. And it gives you a lot of peace, I think. So it's a great way to think about maybe something you're moving through right now. but yeah it's just the connective tissue of my life that when I look back gets me excited about where that continues to extend you know so it's like right now we're in this season of almost 30 we've been doing this for 10 years and there's so much so many invisible strings we can speak to in this episode but I'm like okay so in 10 20 years what are we going to say about the almost 30 invisible string and where that kind of launched us and yeah and now that I have kids I'm thinking about like wow you know their little strings like Lenny's string to me like what like there's just there's so much I think especially in our relationships that are incredibly purposeful in us becoming more of who we are.
12:19Lindsey Simcik:Like she's just so at this point as a little almost three month old, like she's just so like smiley and joyful. And I'm like, oh, this little girl's going to show me like how fun life is. Not that I haven't had fun, but it's like there is such a seriousness I think sometimes I can take on. So just things like that that I'm like, yeah, it's all so connected. And looking back, it all does make sense. So the invisible strength theory is an idea that you and the people you're destined to meet are already connected by an unseen thread even before you consciously know each other so you might have lived in the same city attended the same event shared mutual friends or narrowly missed each other for years then once you meet you look backward and see all the strange little ways your lives were already weaving together and it comes from the red thread of fate which is um popularized by taylor swift which is what you're talking about earliest and it's one of those things where it's like what's for you won't miss you.
13:12I think in my life, I was always so surprised with my ex who was definitely one of my soulmates in my life. And so basically our, our like crazy weaving was, so in high school, I went to high school in Ohio. And I remember I knew I wanted to go to college like far, I was like, kind of wanted to go someplace different. And I met this guy, or I was friends with this guy's name was Addison, and he went to Auburn in Alabama. And I was like, Oh, that seems interesting. So even it was so funny. I heard about the school once and even freshman year, I was dating this guy who was older than me who went to a college in my like near my hometown.
13:47And he was like, you're going to come here for college. Like we're going to be together forever. Gave me a promise ring, all that. And I was like, no, I'm going to go to Auburn and Alabama. Like even when I was a freshman. So junior year, I went to visit colleges with my family. We went to like Emory. We went to Auburn. We went to College of Charleston. We went to Indiana and we just went everywhere outside of the state. And so I went to Auburn and I was like, I loved it. I early decision. I knew no one. It was in the middle of Alabama. And when I was about to go to college, I had dated my high school boyfriend, my first love.
14:20And I'll never forget. My dad was like, if you want to stay with him, you have to go close to home. So I was like, okay, I'm going to go close to home. We were in the, we were literally in my laundry room. And he said that to me. I'll never forget. I was looking outside the window. He was, had his hand on the dryer and he's like, you should go close. And I'll never forget. I like changed my timeline in that moment to my life. And so I decided to go to school close to home to stay with him. We ended up breaking up freshman year, sophomore year, I was dating someone and I worked at the chicken joint in my hometown.
14:48And I had worked there for a year, like serving. There was a girl there named Christine. And she's like, my boyfriend goes to Auburn for college. I was like, oh my God, I would love to visit Auburn. Like I've never been, or I had only been to school to decide, but I wanted to visit. So we drove eight hours from Cincinnati to go visit Auburn and Alabama. And we got there. Her boyfriend was there and her boyfriend happened to live with my ex. And it was our first time meeting like in person. And I just remember meeting him and we had this like weird, weird energy. Like we weren't, we were like, it was this energy that I've had now in my life with a lot of men that I've had karmic relationships with where we're very like, it's almost like I'm shocked.
15:32Lindsey Simcik:Yeah. You know, I'm kind of like taking it in. Like I'm like, I'm kind of processing. Like we both were processing. He was in a relationship. I was too. Nothing happened. And so I stay in touch with his best friends and we don't stay in touch because he's in a relationship. I am too. So me and his best friend stayed in touch over the years and eventually his best friend gave him my number four years later when I was living in Chicago. I had just gotten out of a relationship and he had gotten out of a relationship too. And he's like, I'm coming to Chicago to visit. So he comes to visit me in Chicago or visit friends in Chicago.
16:01I was there. We went out that night and I was like, like, I remember receiving his text where he's like, Hey Krista, like I'm in town, dah, dah, dah, dah. And he was like peas at the end of it. And I was like, this is my husband. Or I looked him up on Facebook at the time. He was wearing this like green tank top. I was like, Oh, that's my husband. And so we went to the bar that night and just were like in touch ever since. And it was so weird because when we, he lived in New York, I lived in Chicago at the time. And when we were talking, we realized how many strings we had, even when we were talking.
16:31I had been trying to go to Australia to the satellite office of my company, and I was applying for a visa. He was applying to companies in Australia during that time. So we were both going to eventually be in Australia at the same time. We both ended up not choosing that at the time. We didn't even know that about each other, that we were both going to be in Australia. And at the same time too, I went to this psychic who basically was like, your husband's in New York. Like, and I, this was before I had met him actually. She's like, he's in New York. I hated New York. I'm like, I'm never moving to New York.
17:04She's like, you've already met him. I was like, I would know. And basically described him in my life to a T, like described our entire life. So when I met him, we were.
17:13Lindsey Simcik:Okay. I am currently breastfeeding and I have unlocked for me the key to producing enough milk. But this is not just for moms. This is for anyone actually. Life is busy. We don't drink enough water, but are we drinking electrolytes in our water? We're just drinking plain water. We're not getting what we need. I'm an electrolytes girly. I have been for years and I found instant hydration, everybody. It is the best, not only for flavor, but what's in it. So there's zero sugar. There is French gray sea salt. There's potassium and magnesium and there's Aquaman. So it's like a really rich mineral complex in there as well.
17:53Lindsey Simcik:I love the raspberry. I love the strawberry lemonade is one of my favorite flavors, but they have an array of flavors that are fantastic. Nothing artificial about it. They're so, so good. Do not drink plain water. Instant hydration is my favorite electrolyte mix. You need this everywhere you go, in your purse, in your backpack, in your desk at work, in your pantry, at home. 18:31In this situation where it was like, we had so many different points of convergence and connection in our lives and so much magic and it was so beautiful like as like a reminder of whether it was obviously for me the karmic lessons that we went through and like all the things that like we came through within our relationship but we would have never missed each other in this lifetime you know like and thank god for it like obviously bless his path bless the path that he's on now but it was so many different things that like still kind of like i'm like wow i'm gonna get that for my person this time, you know?
19:07And honestly, our connection too. So, and you'll talk about yours, but Lindsay, when I met you, my, I was with my ex at the time and my ex knew your new Sean, your husband. So I was talking to my ex about you and he's like, oh yeah, he somehow knew you through that. So we had an invisible string through my ex-husband even.
19:28Lindsey Simcik:So my string to him connected me to my string to you. And it's weird because the string, there's two strings for ours. my little and my sorority in college I was connected to her and she was connected to you yeah yeah she's married to your one of your ex's friends yes who is also very good friends with Sean and yeah my little and my sorority in college knew you from SoulCycle when I wanted to become an instructor I said I want to be an instructor oh she's like got it that's a different yeah different She's like, that's a different thread. She's like, I know someone. So my little and my sorority connected me to you.
20:07And when I met you, yeah, one of your husband's friends, my ex-husband's friends was my grand little. So like I had two of my littles connected to you again. Yeah, that's crazy. Which is so crazy from college.
20:23Lindsey Simcik:That's so crazy. So join a sorority. Yeah, honestly. The networking's crazy. Yeah, honestly. Wow, that's crazy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's a web. It is a true web. And you lived in New York before me. I wasn't in New York. I would have seen you at SoulCycle. I would have seen you at Bounce. New York is a very as intense as New York is. There is such like an energy of web of connection. It's chaotic, but it's like, yeah, it's kind of crazy to look at that because you hated it. And I did for a time and kind of went away. And LA is also a thread for us. So continue, sorry, on like the almost kind of on our connection in Almost 30.
21:05Yeah. So with Almost 30, you know, when I was auditioning for SoulCycle because I found SoulCycle through my old boss at this job and I knew I wanted to be an instructor. I auditioned. I didn't get it. So I wanted to audition again in Los Angeles after I moved. So my little introduced me to you. Right. and so the soul cycle would have been a connection and then her but um she took my class and she was
21:29Lindsey Simcik:also friends with someone I went to college with in like a book club and we were in a book club because my friend from college brought me into the book club it's so funny laughing at this is a sidetrack this isn't even about the theory I was I was laughing like book club and then there's one other example me and my ex went on this friend's trip in college with all these people we like never talk to them again after like there was no drama but afterwards we're like totally why do we do that we're like they kind of suck yeah and it was the same with book club I remember being like I fucking hate book club yeah I'm not a book club girl me either I think I just wanted to make friends in LA I did that was the first like foray into friendship I just I'm just like pretty bad with keeping up with doing my chapters before the book club so I'm like I'm not gonna well none of us read and it was just like a very, you know, I think when you move to a city, you kind of work through friends to see who's your community and see who's your fit.
22:25But totally. So my ex knew your husband.

22:28Lindsey Simcik:Yes. And I didn't know he was going to be my husband. Yes. So to bring in the Sean thread, I met Sean in 2012. I was working at Bounce Sporting Club here in New York City. I was a he'd be there for football, et cetera. He was just starting his career in finance here in New York. And I had just broken up with my ex of like almost four years who I thought was going to be my husband, da, da, da. And just kind of going through it, but at the same time, like doing my thing, dating around, all of that. And so Bounce is just such a weird vortex of a place where it's like people are partying. Most people get wasted.
23:21Lindsey Simcik:It's just it is the vibe. And Sean kind of like popped out of that simulation because he didn't really drink that much. And long story short, he asked me out on a date, but we never dated. I would never say, and he wouldn't either back been that we dated. I always kept him at an arm's length. I remember being in, I lived with one of my best friends at the time. And I remember saying to him, like, or maybe it was, yeah, maybe it was like a year after I met Sean. I remember saying to him, I could never marry Sean. Like just saying that out loud. And I was saying that because there was just so many things that like stupid ass things that like annoyed me or like I couldn't deal with.
24:06Lindsey Simcik:Because I think at the time I thought like you loved everything about them. It was super easy. Like that's who your person should be. And I remember saying that out loud and God was like, so I eventually I moved to LA and I moved to LA because of SoulCycle. So SoulCycle is just such a really strong string that not only like allowed me to move, but it connected me to you. It was the beginnings of almost 30, like one of the events, a couple of the events were there. Yeah, we had a couple of events there. And we're really – actually when we were on tour, we used to do SoulCycles on tour. I remember going to Boston, like other cities, we did SoulCycle rides.
24:48Lindsey Simcik:It was an incredible way for us to build community. And it also taught me how to build community because SoulCycle was a very communal place. Great point. like very genuine community um so then you know I'm like the token single girl forever but we're on tour for the podcast eventually and I'm just pulling the Sean string and he saw on Instagram that I was in New York he was like stalking and so yeah from there like that was the time that we reconnected in 2019 and we've been together ever since um again new york kind of comes back in the picture where like i was living in la at the time yep so being in new york and all the things um and he and i remain friends throughout that and i always i think this is also an aspect of a string that people can think about where it might not be the person that you're like oh, like I love them.
25:50Lindsey Simcik:Like, you know, like you might have a feel like when you're in their presence or when you think about them or you get a message from them, like something happens. You might not be able to identify it as like I have a crush or I'm in love with them or I hate them. It's like it's like soul stirring. It is like a soul connection. So, yeah, I felt that every time I would see him randomly throughout the years but I never knew that he was my person until that like night we sat down for dinner in 2019 so it kind of took time for that string to kind of catch and like come together so we had the string through my ex and through Sean randomly yeah and then we connected through soul cycle and then I think it's so wild that the proper is a part of our strings.
26:43And when, so basically the weekend when Lindsay reconnected with Sean, when you guys were like, when you were like, wow, I had this soul knowing was when I got engaged in New York city on tour. So we were on tour. I got engaged the same weekend, Lindsay reconnected. And then when you moved to New York, I had my wedding. And then when you, the same month, when you got engaged at the proper, what month was that? August, November, November. I don't know if I had anything then. November what year? 2020? Oh, no. I'm trying to think of when I, he moved out in January, 2023. 2022, November is when we did, we called it.
27:19Nothing happened, I think, in 2021. But I had my engagement photos at The Proper. You got engaged at The Proper. We did a lot at The Proper. We had our photo shoot at The Proper for our brand. I had my divorce conversation at The Proper. Oh, wow. I met one of my guys that I had a really, really deep karmic connection with we went to the proper wow it's the proper has been like a spot wow for like it's like an energy portal for us and so um i got engaged or i got married you moved and then you got married and then yeah at your wedding though was when we were like really struggling yeah i remember so that was august 2022 or was your wedding yeah we had just gotten on a trial separation so it was like our first month of it i remember when i was like crying so hard at your wedding this is a side story yeah and he's like what's wrong and I'm like you don't know me at all yeah like it was like what do you I was like what wow it was so crazy almost like uh yes what's wrong with you yes embarrassment like what's wrong with you I'm like this is like so crazy yeah wow and then um but then when I landed here this year is when you gave birth to Lenny.
28:30Lindsey Simcik:So I landed at 6 p.m. and you went into labor at 6.07. Yeah. I told the team, I was like, I don't know if I'm going to be there. Yeah. I just don't know. We were recording the next day and Lindsay's like, I don't know if I'm able to be there. So I landed on that flight and was texting her. And I think I just said my water just her water just broke. Literally the second I landed in New York, I was not here. So I got to see you and meet Lenny the next day. Yep. Which hospital. That is insane. So crazy. So crazy. And I think, you know, the fact that you and I met during a time that was so, just to kind of backtrack two seconds, but like you and I met at a very potent time in our life, which then inspired the podcast.
29:08Lindsey Simcik:Yes. So true. Which, you know, started a revolution. Yes. Yes. But like, yes, it's just a really, I think the, you know we talk about that we're early in podcasting but I think there's a string there too of like I think us just wanting so deeply to feel more connected to ourselves and our life and our purpose yeah is like this string that we were trying to hold on to or like pull a little bit yes and because we had each other to lean on through this process and build something together almost 30 was born yeah and then like I mean how many strings have we heard from people throughout the years that like when they found almost 30 or when they listened to this guest and this you know like that okay can we talk about picky eating for a second i have a toddler i'd like to say he eats a little bit more than other kids but he is still picky so if you have a kid who basically survives on the beige foods you know the struggle and with mav i just don't want every meal to turn into that negotiation that's why i have been giving him ella ola it's basically a completely tasteless colorless vitamin powder.
30:18Lindsey Simcik:It's not a gummy. It's not a chewable. So into his water, I have electrolytes in there too, but I put it in his water or his milk. Sometimes he'll have yogurt. I'll throw it in there. His oatmeal, don't tell him. Smoothies, super easy. And he literally cannot tell it's in there. So it has 19 essential vitamins and minerals plus nutrients from 15 organic fruits and veggies, including B12, D, zinc, and it'll support his mood and brain development. It's pediatrician and pediatric dietician developed. It has zero sugar, it's vegan, gluten-free, free of the top nine allergens, and has no artificial sweeteners, dyes, or additives.
30:56Lindsey Simcik:And honestly, for me, it's just one less thing to stress about at mealtime. Ella Ola is offering our listeners 20 % off your first purchase. So this was the second time that I was pregnant and I just love pregnancy because I get so attuned to like everything that I put in my body. And one of those things is my prenatal.
31:36Lindsey Simcik:A prenatal I recommend and Hylee is from Ritual. The Ritual Essential Prenatal is a part of my routine, and I really love it because it has just these essential nutrients that we need during pregnancy, especially like choline, like folate, and omega-3. I also love it because when I'm taking it, the sensory experience, it doesn't smell weird. It has like this little tab in there that keeps it really fresh, like a citrusy taste and smell. And I just found it to be gentler on my stomach. First trimester, I was so nauseous, but over the course of my entire pregnancy and I still take prenatals postpartum, it's really gentle on my stomach.
32:14Lindsey Simcik:Ritual selects bioavailable key nutrients designed for optimal absorption. So that's really important. Your body actually absorbs these and all of their products are evidence based. So don't settle for less than evidence based support. Save 25 % on your first month at ritual.com slash almost 30. That's richable.com slash almost 30 for 25 % off your first month. Their life changed or they, you know, pivoted or they started careers. Yeah. There was a girl I met the other day. She's like, you're the reason why I moved to LA and I've found this in LA. And wow. You know, there's some, I think too, you can look at relationship strings and then career strings like with almost 30.
32:54In my first job in my career, I was interviewing like executives. So I was in finance management consulting. And so I would interview and converse with like very high powered executives, which I do in my job. I interview people that are like exceptionally brilliant and smart. And then in my second job, I don't think there was any application. But I think it got me to New York. In my third job, I did events, like international events, which we did international events all over. And my job before this, I was doing marketing. So it's like there's so many different like aspects of our career. You know, like I started to get voice lessons when I lived in New York, which happened to be for the podcast.
33:32Like, I think we think sometimes we're doing stuff that's very random. But to our soul, nothing that we do is random. And everything we do has purpose.
33:39Lindsey Simcik:And the more we can trust the pull and the call that does not make sense, the better. I also realized that like children are like a really strong string. Like Sean and I, when we were dating, we would talk about our future kids and we would just talk about them. Mav and Lenny, Mav and Lenny, Mav and Lenny. And it was so real to me. I was like, oh, it's just a matter of time before like we have Mav and Lenny here with us physically. And yeah, one, I don't know where the names Maverick and Lennox came from. We don't really have like a thing that inspired us. So maybe I just have a bad memory and so to see on this one, but it's always been those names.
34:19Lindsey Simcik:It's always been them. And then for them to come in that order, like Mav first and then Lenny. I thought I was gonna have two boys like at a point but like they came in they are like the way they look at each other is like has nothing to do with me you know what I mean like they like know each other yeah you know they're just so sweet but on those strings like I just when I got pregnant I got pregnant before my wedding we had a pregnancy loss those three months between the loss and when Mav was conceived, I had like a really intense friendship reckoning falling off. Like your kids kind of take you through.
35:00Lindsey Simcik:They're the string. They pull you through some initiatory. That was during that time? Mm-hmm. Yeah. So I think like the spirit of your baby works on aspects of your life. Maybe you have to move. Maybe you have to quit your job. Maybe you have to like let go of some friends. Yes. Because I had some glaring ones in my life that were not supportive in a way that I could bring forward into my new life with kids. Yes. You know, so it's just I think if you're in maybe a period between loss or like you are grieving in that way, like related to kids, I think, you know, you can for me, it brought me a lot of comfort to think about this, the spirit of the child, like already working with me to make this happen.
35:50Lindsey Simcik:Yes. Like having that conversation with that spirit is a really beautiful thing. Oh, yeah. Spirit babies is amazing. I was laughing because I do this. This is the most psychotic thing I'll ever say. when I've dated men with kids, like sometimes I'll psychically talk to their kids and I'll be like, if I'm meant to be your mom, just tell your dad. Just tell him. My name is K-R-I-S-T-A. I don't involve the dad, but I'm like, if I'm meant to be your mom in this lifetime, just let it happen. I mean, you know, they're respectful to their souls. Just like, hey. Checking in. Checking in with you. This is, I want you to have choice and consent to your future mom.
36:28Totally. yeah I think that's nice and I'm like tell your mom to back off yeah tell your mom to get out I love the so the invisible string theory too so it has that but I always really love I don't know if you've ever heard the um Steve Jobs commencement speech that he did at Stanford
36:47Lindsey Simcik:I know it exists yeah I don't know it's like one of the most you know he's so prolific but it's one of the most famous of all time and it was in 2005 at Stanford and basically it was talking about how when you're in the process of life, you know, sometimes things don't make sense, but looking back, all the dots connect and everything sort of makes sense in a way. And, you know, first of all, being able to have those moments in your life where the dots connect is such a gift, but also it's like reminding that like, you can't connect the dots looking forward. You want to so bad, control the outcome, control your future, control everything and make it all happen.
37:19But that's what makes life so beautiful. And that's what makes the journey of life so beautiful. And I really love just the sentiment where he shared in it, where he was talking about rejection can only redirect you towards what your most, like your most creative chapter. I think that's what I think about too in life is like for my next steps and what I want to do. It's like when you don't know the path, sometimes it's the best because sometimes there's just so much possibility, boundless like opportunity. Like you. It is liberating. It's so liberating. yeah like it's if if you have a sense of self it's liberating if you have like a sense of trust it's liberating and i think the more often in life when i've gone on paths that weren't clear the better they have been for me and trusting that there are those strings that have already
38:03Lindsey Simcik:established themselves that will kind of come into view or into focus yeah during a time of like unknown i think is really fun to look out for um yeah i feel like you know what's weird too is I've also had an invisible string connection with like someone that I never even connected with. Do you remember? That person that I was like into after my marriage. It was like - Give me clues. Yeah. Sorry, my memory is - Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I had a note on my notes app of 50 synchronicities between us. Yeah, that's so true. Every psychic, every reading, I met all of his exes in sequential order.
38:46order. I ended up going to his house. I ended up like he messed like it was like he did something that I did something right after. So we were connected through that. We like were in the same places within like days of each. It was like insane. And it's so it's weird too that sometimes like you'll have those connections to people and you will never meet them or you'll never like have anything deeper. And sometimes I think invisible string isn't always like to destiny. It's always just to lessons. Like it's just to like it's not just to lessons, but a lot of times it can just be for your soul's growth.
39:17Oh, yeah. It's like we made a commitment in this lifetime to meet. There's some karma we need to clear. There's some things we need to do.
39:23Lindsey Simcik:Definitely. And there's some like stuff that needs to happen. Yeah. It's fun to look at it with like friendships, you know, that kind of I'm thinking about not only you do I have so many strings with my but my friend Ashley, we went to a leadership conference in 10th grade and like connected like we were kind of like leadership conference besties and whatever. But then we ended up going to the same college not knowing yeah and like having that experience there freshman year we were roommates but then we kind of like zigzagged out of each other's lives for no reason other than just like kind of life going different ways and now we're like very close as now moms and there's just kind of like this it's it's it's one of those subtler ones but that I like appreciate when it comes to friendship where like we can kind of weave in and out but we've always been connected Yeah.
40:14And I think sometimes with friendship, we can place so much like meaning and pressure on friendships, like when they zig and zag out. Yes. Yes.
40:22Lindsey Simcik:That there's like such a liberation when you can be like, yeah, we're always connected. Yes. And there might just be a season or longer period of time where we kind of go out, but the string is still there. Well, I think it was beautiful. I mean, you said this yesterday and you were like, you know, I think there's been seasons where we've been more connected. There's more space between us right now. And that's, you know, I think it was so true and just really beautiful to like honor that. Yeah. And be like, wow, like that's true. And I think you and maybe like Caitlin, my sister, and I'm trying to think, I don't have many friends that I feel comfortable in the space.
41:05maybe I'm maybe it's more but that are very close to me I'm still like a little bit like tweaker but it is really nice to be able to have that I'd be like it's okay yeah I think that's actually been a goal of mine over the past year or so two years is to allow spaciousness in my relationships yeah like I have two relationships right now where there's a lot of spaciousness where we don't normally have it and I'm just like continuing to allow it to make it okay because I'm trying to not reach out because I'm uncomfortable in the space, but because I have the desire. And so I'm really working on that of being like, it is okay.
41:42Because I think with our phones and social media and texting and all of that, it's like, there's such an opportunity to be constantly in contact with 5 million people and actually having space is like, okay and healthy. And I've been realizing I'm like stepping into a new season of friendship where it's like, I want more space and I kind of want to it's funny like Sophia Amoruso did this piece where she's like I don't want to have like catch-up friends where you meet each other and you just kind of catch up yeah which I really get that but it was funny because I was almost like oh I kind of want that right now like more like yeah more I'm like oh let's just like okay Kristen and I

43:44Lindsey Simcik:It was very cute. He did a great job. but I was very nervous that he would just have a total meltdown and not let them look at his teeth, but did a great job. But I was thinking about my own dental health, postpartum, got to get back to the dentist. I was really excited to find this brand for us all. Okay. So it's called Lorene and this is a chewing gum. Okay. This is a chewing gum that is better for you, better for your teeth. It uses nano hydroxy appetite, and this is the mineral your teeth are actually made of. I'll usually chew it after meals or after I have my coffee in the morning and my mouth just feels very fresh, which is always a nice feeling. My husband loves it. So right now, Laureen Co. is offering our listeners up to 50 % off at buylaurene.com slash almost 30. That's B-U-Y-L-A-R-I-N-E.com slash almost 30 for up to 50 % off. Let's just talk about what's going on and like, not like we're deeply so entrenched in each other's stuff all the time and like so invested in needing updates and needing to be caught up and like with everything.
45:10Like I was like wanting a little bit more spaciousness. And I think with women too,
45:15Lindsey Simcik:like I think when you're on the precipice of entering a season where you are going to be with your person, you will build a family, you will be just in a different season. Like I think it's like not that you shouldn't hang out with your girlfriends, shouldn't have friends. It's like there's just like a reorientation, like a healthy, like let's make these aspects of your life more balanced and healthy rather than I think I've definitely had seasons where it's like all about my girlfriends or like almost imbalance, you know, and I wouldn't focus on myself or whatever. Yes. So it's like noticing when that happens, because I think there is just a health in like the ebb and flow.
46:07Lindsey Simcik:Yes. Yes. Yeah. And it's beautiful, too, that you can think about your invisible strings that are like happening or to be revealed. Yeah. Of some ways. It's just been I think dating's been a lot of them, like even men that I haven't, you know, there was this one person that a friend was like a friend dated him. and was like, actually, I think he'd be really good for you. He's super hot, all these things. And I was like, sure, whatever. At that time, I was just a little bit more loose. I'm like, whatever. So she messaged him, even though they had dated. And she's like, hey, I have this person for you.
46:41He's like, I don't want to date influencers. And so he said no. And I told her, I was like, she's like, oh, he said no, dadadad. I'm like, he doesn't want to date influencers. I just knew. And then we ended up connecting on an app. And we went on dates. And he's like, after we connected, I realized you were the same person. And we had like such a good flow, like incredible. And he's like, I messaged Ashley and I was like, I couldn't believe it.
47:03Lindsey Simcik:Wow. So then we dated for a little bit. And then, um, I ended it. We saw each other again at a party like months later. And then there was like one more reconnection point. Like we had three opportunities of like reconnection of us together, which was like so funny. He was amazing, but not my flow. Yeah. Yeah, it is. And it's kind of fun. I think if we're talking about like dating towards, I became more like conscious and not so in my head about dating at the end. And I realized like they were definitely strings, like basically more intros from other people. and like there were those types of strings but then realizing um the why of why they were brought into my life yeah you know what I mean so I think like to go back to like your point about lessons it's like there was a guy that I dated in LA for time is so weird I'm like was it four months or at eight months.
48:05Who knows?
48:06Lindsey Simcik:It's always the time. No, it was longer. And he was actually the sister of one of my friends at SoulCycle. And I really was like so into him. But all he would do was skydive every weekend and never make time for me. And so – Sorry, babe. I'm diving. That was – No, for real. And I actually went skydiving with him one weekend. And that was the first time at the end of that relationship that I, I remember we were at a bar in Venice and I just started to tear up and I was like, I was just so honest. I was like, I just feel like you don't want to spend time with me and you're not making time for me.
48:46Lindsey Simcik:And like, I'm, I just, oh, I said, I deserve more than that, which is like so basic. But like, that was the first time that I just said that and declared that to someone rather than being like, this isn't working. I was like, I deserve better. Wow. So it was like that relationship kind of like reoriented me around that piece. And then there was other ones that kind of reoriented me around like what I was like typically going for. Totally. And then like go for the shorter guy, but who has a lot of confidence and da, da, da. Totally. Go for the guy who owns a sandwich shop. And then. Totally. I had too this invisible string with this girl who was like my arch enemy for like years of my life.
49:26Lindsey Simcik:She. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah. Like it's actually negative ones. But so in college, during orientation, I met this girl and beautiful girl. And it was when like everyone was like getting on Facebook and everyone was like becoming friends. But we met in person. And I just didn't, there was something off for me about her, even though you would think that we'd be friends. She was beautiful. She was cool. And so I gave her the wrong phone number because I just didn't, wasn't into it. And I was like, I just didn't want to mess with her. She ended up being in a different sorority, but she ended up being friends with someone that was best friends from home with my college boyfriend.
50:02So my college boyfriend had a girlfriend that was his best friend. She ended up being close with her. So I would see her around and like we always had like a weird, weird thing. And I remember we were like me and her and me and her, me and my boyfriend were in his dorm and then that his best friend girl came in and she was with her. And I remember talking to them about going abroad. And I was like, oh, I'm going abroad. And she's like, where are you going? I was like, I think about Ireland, but I'm not sure. And she made this joke where she was like, do you like green? And he laughed and they laughed.
50:33And I said, something is wrong. And just was like, knew something was off about it. And then I went, I went abroad and I remember I saw one picture of him. I was in Europe, one picture of him and one picture of her. They were talking in the back of a photo, like in a photo album in the back. And I was like, they're hooking up. I told my best friend who I was abroad with, her cousin was dating his roommate. So her cousin was dating my boyfriend's roommate. So those two guys lived together. The cousin would be there all the time. So I was like, get on Facebook, talk to your cousin, who's been at the house of your boyfriend and my boyfriend.
51:17And so we asked her and she's like, Yeah, they've been hooking up. Wow, what a sleuth. And, you know, and I was like, oh my God, I just knew. And then so me and this girl had these weird, like for the rest of like time, like she lived by my hometown. So she grew up by my hometown. I moved to California. She moved to California. Like we would kind of weirdly follow each other in this weird way. And we had this like karmic thing. It was very, very weird.
51:39Lindsey Simcik:I had something similar with like my high school bully. like the girl in eighth grade who like made it her job to make my life hell even though we started as best friends as you do yeah um she eventually ended up leaving high school before the end of high school to pursue a soap opera career that's another story but i was work how many years later we graduated in 2006. In 2000, call it 11 or 12, I'm working at a bar in New York, another bar in New York City. And one day I'm looking at like a schedule that our boss sends us and like kind of who's on, who's going to be working. And I see her name.
52:23Lindsey Simcik:If I've ever had a panic attack in my life, I think that was like when I've had a panic attack. I was like, no, what? Wow. No. Like this is a joke. Wow. Of all the bars in New York City, this girl's going to be working with me. Wow. A few days later, she messages me. She's like, hey, just want to address the elephant in the room. I was like, good for her. Yeah. She was like, I just want to say I'm sorry for everything I put you through. and like I hope that like you know we can work together and like it won't be too weird and whatever and I was like yeah I was like it's okay I forgive you like that was a huge part of like my young life that was very like formidable is like negative yeah but it was it really was and so I was like whoa god is so crazy like that string needed to be pulled a little bit more where like we kind of had a full circle like moment yeah of like I forgive you and she had clarity around like what she had done and um we ended up being totally fine when we were working together and and then I just saw her more clearly for who she really is in terms of like her her pain and wounding you know I was just like oh wow like I really feel for her and now I can't find her anywhere.
53:48Wow. It like, actually, I think about it probably once a month. What? Poofers. Were they just like poof in your life? No, she poofed. Like there's two of them from my high
53:57Lindsey Simcik:school class that poofed. And I'm nervous. One of them is like no longer with us. I'm not sure. But I'm like, what happened? Yeah. It's such a weird, such a weird thing. That's so crazy. Yeah. It's, the karmic lesson is complete. And then that's what I, you know, I've said that before that I think sometimes once the cycle is complete with someone, they no longer show up in your life. Maybe they just don't exist. They just completely don't exist. Maybe they never existed. I sometimes think people don't exist. No, maybe. No, seriously. Sometimes like people will like, I'll see someone on the street and they'll say something to me, like something that God wants me to know.
54:32Yeah. And then they'll never exist again. Like they'll just, not degrading them, but just degrading, like talking about the experience of like multiple timelines, multiple realities. Yes. Like, you know, when some, like the other day I was in Chicago and this guy was like you have really beautiful like the valet guys you have really beautiful energy there's like no one like you he puts my bags in the car I look around and he's completely gone I like no I have no idea where he is like it was like so
54:56Lindsey Simcik:and when does the valet guy have that conscious awareness of like I know yeah exactly sorry no that's an assumption but I think strangers and random people are always the people that speak the most yeah and to you yeah you know I think you're much more open and susceptible like I think when someone loves you you're kind of like yeah yeah yeah you know they're like oh they're you're really amazing okay yeah yeah but like when a stranger does it you're like so much more that's so true so basically you guys can't miss what's meant for you yeah i'm excited to see my my strings in my life and how those sort of it does make life so much more fun yeah it makes life so much so much more fun tell us about your strings message us dm us i would love to hear um maybe your strengths related to us.
55:36Lindsey Simcik:Yes. Yes, exactly. And I know for the people that are in, you know, their pivot seasons and transforming their life and ways of transformation and change, it's like, this is like the time when like, maybe the dots are not connecting at all. And you're actually creating the dots that are going to govern the rest of your life. So listening to just the call of your soul and the call of what maybe feels different and unique and just following that thread. Yeah. Yeah, because there's usually, you know, even if it doesn't turn into the thing that you think it will, there's usually so many even better things that show up and lessons to be had.

In this episode, Krista + Lindsey explore the idea of the invisible strings connecting our lives. They reflect on the relationships, places, and seemingly random moments that led them exactly where they are—and how much more meaningful life feels when you trust the connections you can’t always see.
They share their wildest invisible-string stories, from dating + marriage to SoulCycle, Almost 30, friendships, and even moments of loss. They explore why some people enter our lives for a lifetime while others arrive to teach us a lesson, shift our path, or help us become someone new.
Plus, they talk about creating more spaciousness in friendships, letting relationships ebb + flow without forcing them, and trusting the path when the dots don’t connect yet. This episode is a reminder that you may not understand where life is taking you—but you can trust that the pieces will make sense when you look back.
We also talk about:
The invisible string theory + the idea that nothing is truly random
How Krista + Lindsey’s own strings led them to each other
Soulmates, karmic relationships, and soul connections
Why some people are brought into our lives for lessons
The strange connections between dating, friendship, and career
How rejection can redirect you toward a more creative chapter
Letting friendships have more space without assuming the connection is gone
Trusting your intuition when the path ahead doesn’t make sense
Why you can’t always connect the dots until you look backward
