In short
The episode discusses Aliya Health’s “olive oil shot” and why the host guests believe a high-polyphenol olive oil (from a specific Tunisian estate/variety) can improve digestion, bloating, skin, metabolic health, and blood-sugar spikes. It also covers misconceptions about calories/fat, how the “viral” trend started, and broader themes like eating seasonally, gut-brain/stress, and entrepreneurship.
Guests
Maya Ayd, founder and CEO of Aliyahealth (Drink Alia). Background: Tunisian-born; moved to the U.S. ~8 years ago; developed bloating/fatigue/acne and was diagnosed with SIBO; tried many protocols/antibiotics were avoided; found relief by using her family’s olive oil ritual; built a health-as-medicine brand. Hosts: Lindsey and Krista (podcast hosts).
Key claims
Not all olive oils are equal; polyphenols drive benefits (gut microbiome as “natural prebiotic,” reduced oxidative stress/inflammation, better blood sugar control). The shot is positioned as a pre-meal “delivery system” for polyphenols. High polyphenol content (claimed 1,800 mg/kg) is tied to EU-style health claims.
Notable examples
Maya’s 30-day continuous glucose monitor experiment comparing taking the shot before vs not before meals; her grandfather’s daily tablespoon ritual; SIBO symptom recurrence when she ran out; discussion of olive oil industry adulteration and the need for fresh, traceable, lab-tested oil.

And you see a huge difference, about 60 points dropped from the one where I actually took the shot of Valable B4. So this has natural GLP-1 too? So if you take it in the morning, it'll produce that? You can't say that, but we can say. I actually did an experiment for 30 days where I had a continuous glucose monitor and I was testing the same food, but taking the shot before and not taking the shot. And I saw a huge difference in my glucose spikes. There was a day where I had beer and like other things like that, like high in sugar and carb.
0:39And I actually took the shot before. And another day where I had a protein smoothie, a healthy meal, and my blood glucose spiked on that day.
0:54hello guys welcome to almost 30 podcast hello everyone welcome to the show it's lindsey and krista we're glad you're here so when we had this conversation today with maya of alia it was so fascinating because i think the olive oils i've been having been super potent or haven't been really healthy for you because i think it would be easy and no flavor but i think alia is different because it's actually got this kind of spicy taste because it's from this very special estate in Tunisia where she's from. And it's got like so much more potency. It's so much more healthier. So I think there's differences.
1:24More polyphenols. Yes. Exactly. More polyphenols. So I think my assumption was, oh, I could do that because it doesn't taste like anything, but I think this is different because it actually like does something for you. Yes. So it's has incredible benefits for skin. Yes. Your gut. Uh, I mean, it's like far reaching because we know our gut is our second brain. So for your cognition, um, I've been doing it almost every morning. It's more a matter of if I remember to take it, but I would say on average, every other morning I'm taking this first thing in the morning. It's the first thing that I'm putting in my belly.
1:56I've noticed, because after I had Lenny, I was like a little bloated, obviously. Your body's different, but I actually felt the bloat for some reason. I don't know if it was like my organs just kind of figuring itself out and just reacting to food differently. I don't know. But I noticed that this helped with the bloat, which is so interesting. So it's an antioxidant. It really helps with your digestion. So I was, that was like the first thing that I noticed really made a difference. Yeah. I mean, it's fascinating because I remember in our conversation, she was talking about how when she moved to the United States from Tunisia, basically she started to get bloating and digestive issues.
2:33And then she was diagnosed with SIBO and she tried every powder, every protocol, but nothing really worked. And then she remembered that her grandfather would take this tablespoon of olive oil every morning and he swears by it. And he's like, this is what I do. And then when she brought it back with her, she started to get healthy and started to really realize how we're overcomplicating so many different things. And that this oil could be because of its high concentration of the polyphenols, which are compounds that are tied to the gut and metabolic health can really help you and your gut and your microbiome, like, and also skin.
3:06Like that's what I've heard of too, is people, it really helps people's skin. Yeah. And also like, I was just fascinated with the fact that like not all olive oils are made equal, you know? And so it really is so dependent on where it's grown, the consistency of the soil, the climate, the purity of like the soil, like it's so, they're so sensitive to what's happening. So I love just the care that they take with that. I believe it's her grandfather's. I know it is. It's her grandfather's farm, which is incredible. And it's just really respecting. She mentioned this in the interview, like just the seasonality of things.
3:46Like there's a point that we were talking about. She's like, I go to Trader Joe's and I see like everything available at any time of year. And you're like, where's that from? It's so true. So it really doesn't respect the seasonality of things and where she's from. They really do. You know, I think if you go to Italy or other parts of Europe, that is, and I'm sure other parts of the world, that is really a thing where you eat what is in season. And there's a reason why you eat what's in season, both for your biology and just like the nutrient density of it and all of it. So to get the most potent olive oil shots using cold press single version organic olives from their family's estate in Tunisia, you can go to aliyahealth.com.

We're here for you. We love you. We'll see you on the other side. We love you guys. We'll see you soon. Bye. So I saw basically people doing the I Love Oil trend on Instagram, social media. I'm only pretty much on Instagram. But I was like, it's too many calories. It's going to make me like poop my pants. And I just was like, I thought it would be too like fat dense in the morning. What do you think about that?
5:36Okay, this is a common misconception. So we'll start with the calories one. Yeah. The calories, these are good calories. They're not like the empty calories. So when you actually have these healthy fats for you, what actually happens is that it's going to make you feel full longer. It's going to make you feel more satiated. So you're actually not going to reach for a snack later. And you're giving your body the good information, telling you, like, this is like healthy fats. It's really good to absorb any fat-soluble nutrients. And that's why it's good to have it before a meal because it's really going to help you, you know, absorb the vitamin A, D, E, C.
6:13So these are like actually not the calories that you should be counting. And I think that now there's a huge conversation about good calories versus bad calories. We don't even think about the calories in our like matcha, coconuts, latte, you know, and that's like very rich in sugar. Yeah. And so this these are not the calories that are going to make are going to create inflammation in your body. Yeah. And the second one was fats. Yes. Well, again, I kind of answered this. It's like healthy fats. So these are the good fat that your body needs. And so it's not the bad fats where it's saturated.
6:48And this goes more into the science. This is like monosaturated fats. So they're actually the so-called healthy ones. And I think that so there's the calories element and then like having that first thing in the morning. I think it's really heavy when it's your first time, but then you get used to it. Okay, I am currently breastfeeding and I have unlocked for me the key to producing enough milk. But this is not just for moms. This is for anyone actually. Life is busy. We don't drink enough water. But are we drinking electrolytes in our water? We're just drinking plain water. We're not getting what we need.
7:25I'm an electrolytes girly. I have been for years and I found instant hydration, everybody. It is the best, not only for flavor, but what's in it. 9:29So you probably should do it 30 minutes before a meal. And that's what I usually recommend. Yeah. Would you like poop your pants? Oh, and that. Okay. I had a friend who also thought that. And then I was like, it's always sliding right through me. Yeah. So no, that's actually not what happened. When you take the shot, it's going to coach your stomach lining and really prepare your gut for any food you're going to digest. So it's not necessarily going to make you go to the bathroom. It's just going to help you digest better and slow the gastric emptying. So that's kind of like what happens when the food from the small intestine goes to the large intestine.
10:04And what that happens is that it's just like smooth digestion. You don't feel bloated. And when you don't feel bloated, you just go regular to the bathroom. So what you're going to notice after a week of this is really just like regular bowel movements. So it's not going to make you directly go to the bathroom, but it's going to create an environment where your digestive system is getting used to a proper digestion. and not a slow, backed up kind of one. Interesting. How does it like, this is a weird science question, how does it like interact with your gut bacteria? Does the bacteria love it?
10:34Like what's - Yes, good question. Good question. So if actually - Is everyone cool in there? Because like there has been a huge conversation around gut microbiome and like good and bad bacteria and like disrupting the microbiome and all of that. So I'm curious. Totally. So the olive oil has this specific compound that I'll talk later about it called polyphenols. And these are really good actually for your gut microbiome. They create more like good bacteria than the bad ones. So they get rid of the bad bacteria and they create a good environment for the good ones. And so it goes through stomach lining and it's really known as the natural prebiotic in the research that I have learned about.
11:15And so how did this trend come about? Like, because if someone was, I bet you a lot of our girlies have seen taking an olive oil shot in the morning, can help with skin, energy, all this kind of stuff. Like, tell me about the trend and tell me, like, when did you come to see it? Was this in alignment with when you guys started? Yeah. So I'm happy to share a little bit about my story. I think now there's this whole trend that came and I think it was just a reality. It's funny because when I started, we were the first brand on the market. Wow. And then six months later, there's another brand that started it.
11:47and that was already an olive oil brand. No, I think that everybody is different. And you'll see where we actually are not an olive oil brand. We are a health food as medicine brand platform where we leverage the compounds that are so good for you that you find in olive oil and try to make sure that it's accessible to you. I always say olive oil is like the delivery system. The polyphenols are the end product. And so I can explain what polyphenols are. And this is why olive oil is really important for you and not any kind. So polyphenols are these natural plant compounds found in dark chocolate, coffee, wine, berries, matcha.
12:33And they are, and I love this fun fact, is they are what the plant produced to protect themselves from any environmental stress. sun, drought, pest, anything going on like external stressors, the plant produces that to protect itself. And when we consume that, that is what we leverage and what protects us from oxidative stress ourselves. And oxidative stress is inflammation going on in your body. So it's kind of like these like synergy between nature and us. Now back to how this came about, because The trend happened, but my experience was different. It happened two, three years ago now. So I'm happy to share a little bit more about the story and how my olive oil, because I was not doing that before.
13:19So I think the best way to explain a little bit about my story is to tell you about where I'm from. Does anyone know where Tunisia is? Africa? Yeah. And kind of near Italy? Yes, yes. Okay, perfect. Sorry, guys. Oh, boy. It's always like fun fact about Tunisia because people don't know where it is. The name Tunisia is such a beautiful name. Like Tunisia, it's just like a stunning word. I'll tell all the Tunisias. They'll be happy to hear. So I was born and raised there. I grew up there. It's, yeah, northernmost country in Africa on the Mediterranean Sea, so very much Mediterranean lifestyle. And I grew up there and then I moved to the U.S.
14:01about eight years ago for my undergrad. And as I progressed through my undergrad, you know, graduated, got my first job out of college in tech, I started to develop these health issues. I've never had these before. Anytime I would have food, I would feel bloated. I would feel like fatigue, exhausted. I had acne on my jawline. I never had this growing up in Tunisia. I'm very fortunate. My mom taught me like, you know, also it's the Mediterranean diet. so it was very much shocking it was like something is wrong it didn't feel like oh it's okay I'll I mean at first I was like oh it'll go away but then I decided to go see doctors so I started to go see an eastern medicine doctor who told me I don't know if you're familiar about the dasha type right so they told me that I had a wind type so I had to consume more grounding and comforting food and cooked so that was like everything that's like opposite attributes the wind so warm and which that definitely helped is that vata yeah yeah exactly and i also saw a western because i was still not feeling great that helped but not fully so i i saw a western medicine doctor who got me diagnosed eventually with SIBO which is a small intestine bacterial overgrowth so that's essentially when there's an imbalance of bacteria in your gut.
15:25And they recommended antibiotics. And it felt really counterintuitive to me to take antibiotics, knowing that my gut was already inflamed. It was not great. Like why adding something where it's going to wipe out all of the bacteria? It just didn't feel right. And my mom also was against it. And I had heard from other friends who had SIBO that it actually only removes it for a month or two and then it comes back. Oh, wow. I was like, well, I'm not going to do that if it's going to come back. It felt more like a quick fix versus a root cause solution. And so I started to do my own research and I have, you know, I started to consume all like the green powder everyone consumes, the green gummy.
16:11How do you know we go to the gummies are crazy. I was at my friend's house. She has kids. Have you seen the grooms for the kids? Yeah, of course. Do you have to get I didn't want to name it. We don't have to. It's actually. I ate like eight at a time. Yeah. What do you think about that? I just, I think about the teeth. I go to like a holistic dentist. She's like, do not do gummy vitamins. Smart. Like it's ruining it with its teeth. Yeah. I also think it would give them a flavor and texture. Kind of they would want that like sugary, flavor-y texture thing. Yes. Yeah, but I would love them. Oh, they're amazing.
16:43They're yummy. Yeah. I mean, but you're doing all the things. Yeah, totally. So I was doing that pre-probiotic digestive enzymes, elimination diets, you know, when you have to get rid of. Yeah. So I did that. I still felt bloated. I still felt like, I mean, when I tell you I look pregnant after a meal. And then it started to become the stress of like, I don't know, should I eat that? Should I not? It's just like, you know how stress gut brain acts is. And so when you're stressed, your gut, so it's like this vicious cycle. And so I went back home to Tunisia, like I do every summer to visit my family.
17:18and I was spending a lot of time with my grandpa on our family's olive grove in Tunisia. And I was sharing with him, he was like, how is it going? Living in the U.S. I was telling him, listen, I am not well. I'm dealing with all of these health issues that I've never had. You're always welcome. I just hosted 10 people there at my grandma's house. She was so happy. Oh, wow. Yeah. That's amazing. Because she lived alone and she has like this big house. Sweet. She loved it. She was really happy. She cried when I left. Oh, I'm sure. I missed the birthday of my other grandma to make sure that I was here on time.
17:57And I was like, oh, it's so important. I have to be here. Oh, bless. But it's okay. I mean, I'm never with them. So even when I spend time, it's always good. So you were back with your grandpa. Yes. And you were telling him about your issues. Yeah, back with my grandpa. And I was telling him all about it. And I list everything that I tried. He obviously has not heard any of those things. and then he asked have you tried you know the norm our family's olive oil that I take a tablespoon of every morning you know he's 83 he travels the world he is super healthy he works out all the time he lives in Asia like I never see him and I told myself you know what I'll trust him I you know he's been taking a tablespoon of our family's olive oil every morning wow since I was a kid and And so I didn't think much of it because it was I knew it was really good for brain and heart health.
18:47So this has been proven all this, but I didn't know it would do anything to my bloats and my energy levels. And so I started doing the ritual. I take it with me to the U.S. And, you know, I only really noticed the difference when I ran out and my symptoms came back. They came back rushing and I was like, whoa, I haven't felt bloated in a while. Because, you know, I always say when you're healthy, you have so many goals. When you're sick, you only have one goal, which is to get healthy. That's why I'm so passionate about health. And so I didn't notice. It was only when I ran out that I noticed all of my symptoms coming back again, the bloat, the energy, the acne.
19:26And I was like, whoa, this is insane. And so I call him and I ask grandpa, I need more of this olive oil. I don't know what it is. And I started asking questions, can I go to the grocery store and buy just olive oil? Like, which kind do you recommend? And that's when he tells me it's not just olive oil. It is a specific kind of olive oil that's very rare. It's leveraging an olive variety that's endemic to Tunisia. It's called Chitri. And it's naturally rich in these polyphenols, these compounds. and it's very rare to find this kind of olive oil. And so that's when I start getting very excited about it.
20:11I started digging into the research and I found that my experience, that my anecdotal experience got proven by all the science. I found over a thousand studies and research papers on PubMed, NIH, et cetera, that were speaking about how high polyphenol olive oil helps improve your gut microbiome, regulates your blood sugar, metabolic health, helps your brain, your heart health, all of these incredible and really, you know, like very much studied. And so I was shocked that, first of all, yes, we all have access to olive oil, but it was like this specific kind that really helped your health and that we had access to all of these supplements and pills and powders and we didn't having access to this natural resource.
20:57And something that happened because I started to tell him, Grandpa, I want to share with my friends. I want to see how they feel. I started to share with them. People love it. It was not going to be a business at first. It was going to be like, I just share with friends. And then he tells me, well, take as much as you need because I'm going to sell our families. I'll go. I look at him. I tell him, absolutely not. Like this is a unique resource that Mother Nature has provided because we do not change anything. It is truly just Mother Nature. And that's the question I always get. Is it just olive oil?
21:33It is just olive oil, but it is the specific kind and variety of olives. And it is not like adulterated. It's not changed. It's just that. It's not made in the lab. It's just Mother Nature. It's how well you treat the olive trees. And so that's kind of how I built Alihel. And then the shot format is another story. Wow. Well, it's just I also think about how the body responds to not only simplicity, but there's like so much love history, as you said, like proven science behind this. But like there's like a primal aspect to this that I think like so many of us are kind of feeling called back to because to your point, like, you know, we were put on the greens powders that had 80 different ingredients and whatever.
22:25And so I just find it really powerful that the body is responding so beautifully to a simple thing grown by Mother Nature, nothing added, nothing taken away. um so it's just really i think at a high level like a message i think to us as humans like where we try to over complicate things but when it comes to the quality i'm just really curious because i think you know i'm so glad people are learning about your brand now but i think people would run to like a whole foods or an iran and be like hey okay where's your best olive oil like point me to it. What about the olive oil industry, I guess, have you learned that has either concerned you or you just want to caution people when they are kind of looking to create this ritual for themselves?
23:17Yeah. Great question. And that's why we say not all olive oils are created equal. And something that I've learned, I remember when I started this, my dad looked at me, he told me, beware, because you're going to be in the same business as the mafia. And I'm not kidding. That's so interesting, actually. Wait, say more. Wow. Say more. Wait, I love it. This is taking a good turn. Like Italian mafia type of thing. Yeah, yeah. The olive oil is like industry mostly. I think now that has changed. But in the past, I mean, we never know. But it is a commodity, and it is super valuable, and you can rank up the price.
23:56And, you know, it's really wanted. And so the mafia, I mean, I really don't want to talk about them, but it's just like it's controlled mostly because they will adulterer. Like there's there's just to tell you, I'm not going to go into the details, but there is a specific police just for the mafia that's dealing with olive oil. So what they do is that they take olive oil and that they will change the color to make it look like, you know, they will like they won't use olive oil. Actually, they will use like seed oil or something else and then they will change the color with chlorophyll to make it look like olive oil.
24:26and then they will bottle it and say made in italy and yeah so it is it is and that's i think the problem with olive oil is that it's something that's truly valuable it's so good for your health people do know that people do know about it in like the mediterranean countries but in the u.s your average american doesn't really know what olive oil tastes like yeah so what happens is that they will kind of take whatever it is and bottle it just to increase the price. Now, so the largest producer of olive oil is Spain. The second is Tunisia. But you wouldn't know that because Italy and Spain buy in bulk olive oil from Tunisia and we bottle it under their own label because it's good quality and also it's cheap when you buy it from Tunisia.
25:13So I think that it is very hard for these reasons to find really good olive oil because once you get to a grocery store, you pick up a bottle, you don't know when it was harvested. You don't know where it's coming from. Sometimes it's blended. So there's the famous one, the California one that says like blended from actually like Chile, California, Tunisia. So it doesn't mean that it's not that it's bad. It just means that it wouldn't be the one you would want to take an honorable shot with. And the reason why is because, again, back to my point earlier, what we're really delivering here is the polyphenols, you know.
25:53And so when you pick a bottle from the grocery store, you're not going to see the polyphenols count on it because it's very hard to make that. And so polyphenols, again, they are what protects the oil actually from going rancid. And so you don't want it to expose to light, heat, damage. You don't want it to sit in a warehouse or at the grocery store for X amount of time. And that's why this is like a D2C e-com brand, because we want to make sure that you're, you know, consuming this as soon as it's harvested. Like as soon as it's harvested, it ships to you. We don't have to. We don't ship it to a grocery store where it has to sit there for how long.

26:31And we really want to make sure that we trace everything. And we have a third party lab tested and all of that. So now for your second question, which is, you know, this olive oil versus this one. So the EU regulation came out and said that if your olive oil exceeds 250 milligrams per kilo of polyphenols, you can make a claim that says your olive oil contributes to the protection of blood fats from oxidation. In layman terms, it means that it helps reduce inflammation in your body, which is very important. And so that is a big deal. That's a big deal. It was done like in UC Davis Olive Center.
27:09And so they did this research and they found the exact milligram per kilo. We are 1 ,800. We have 1 ,800 milligrams per kilo as of the latest harvest. And that's seven times higher. And so there are studies showing the higher the polyphenol, the better health benefits. And back to the calories, if you have a shot of Alia, that's 90 calories. and it has 1 ,800 milligrams per kilo of polyphenols versus, you know, a bigger olive oil bottle that's like, that's more calories. You'll have to consume so much more calories to get what's in a shot of Alia essentially. Got it. Did you know about olive oil stuff?
27:50Lindsay's like my, she's so good about educating herself about stuff. I always knew it was really, really good for you. But I think that taking a shot of it was more recent in the last couple of years. Have you tried the shot? Yeah. Yeah, I have these like every morning. I'm about to run out, so I'm about to take that box out. Yeah, well, I brought you a box. No, but it's been really good. I think postpartum it's been nice because there's just like ways in which your body is inflamed. So obviously in recovery it's been really good. And getting more fats in. Stress, yeah, getting my fats in and breastfeeding.
28:23So just like getting those calories in when I can. Skin. um but yeah i just i'm always and i'm sure you've encountered this like and we're in this space where like the health trends sometimes get distorted by like big money or like even like pharmaceuticals sometimes will come in and you're like what you don't belong here like you're not allowed in this club um so to for you to share about like kind of the the mafia aspect is really interesting and I guess how how um I was wondering about the Hailey Bieber thing is it Hailey Bieber that first took the shot that made it viral I think well it was when I started there was this other influencer that was lived she lives in Italy and has been taking the shots and so that's also how I was like oh wait there is something there like people are trying to people are realizing how good it is for you you know instead of all of these pills and I yeah I think she was kind of like one of the first and then some years went by and people weren't talking about it and that was kind of like my own experience experiment and then hayley bieber recently came out and said she takes an olive oil shot every morning and that got started another trend but i have this aversion towards the word trend because olive oil has been used and cherished for over a thousand years and across so many civilizations in the Mediterranean, like in Mediterranean countries and that like area of the world.
29:58You know, when you look at even in Greek mythology, you know, the olive tree is always cherished for all of, it's like abundance of health and all the things that it can bring. And so it's funny that now it's coming back. Science is catching up to what my grandpa has been doing. Yes. Is he so proud? Like, what does he think about this? He's really proud. He's really happy. he doesn't really show his emotions but I'm sure he's really happy that you know that the family he was gonna sell our family's olive grove he was gonna kind of he didn't have time to take care of it and I was working in tech like I had no business in this but I truly it was almost like a calling like I saw this like unique resource I felt how I like I saw how I felt I saw how other friends felt and I was like it doesn't make sense that we're taking all of these things that were overcomplicating like you said like i think wellness is taking this huge thing where it's like either you have this whole supplement stack or you like shoot yourself things and now people are so people are more comfortable like for like the injectables that they put on their body versus sometimes taking a shot of all of them so true so true what other parts of tunisian culture do you feel like are also really like wellness practices that we can incorporate potentially that's a good i mean i think that if you know about the blue zones it's very it's right across from sardinia so we have the same practices of like you know eating um going on a walk after eating spending time with family laughing community gardening you know obviously all of a little consumption and really being able oh and then the most important thing and that was a shocking thing when i moved to the u.s was consuming whole fresh and seasonal foods because when i moved to san francisco i remember walking in trader joe's and seeing every colors of the rainbow fruits and veggies available and i thought to myself wait what i call my grandma my grandma this time and I asked her, wait, what is the season for the, I don't think the lemons or whatever.
32:10I asked her because I was like, this is, this doesn't make sense for me. I remember growing up, my grandma would have every winter, we would have oranges every summer, we would have grapes. So it was like, what is happening? What is the importance of eating seasonally? So I think that, I mean, first it is available. It's not traveled so far. So it's, you know, I mean, our soul in the U.S. is so depleted in its nutrients. If it travels so far from somewhere else, the orange has lost its vitamin C and all of its other nutrient profile. So the density of it, you know, I think there's now like TikTok is going on about like, if you eat like an orange, it's like plastic or like you can feel like it's not real.
32:53Yeah, there's something weird. Yeah, about some fruit. Is that you talking about the wax? Well, yeah, there's like wax on apples and other fruits. But also sometimes I'll like, okay, can we talk about picky eating for a second? I have a toddler. I'd like to say he eats a little bit more than other kids, but he is still picky. So if you have a kid who basically survives on the beige foods, you know the struggle. And with Mav, I just don't want every meal to turn into that negotiation. That's why I have been giving him Ella Ola. It's basically a completely tasteless, colorless vitamin powder. It's not a gummy.
33:25It's not a chewable. So into his water, I have electrolytes in there too, but I put it in his water or his milk. Sometimes he'll have yogurt. I'll throw it in there. His oatmeal. Don't tell him. Smoothies. Super easy. And he literally cannot tell it's in there. So it has 19 essential vitamins and minerals plus nutrients from 15 organic fruits and veggies, including B12, D, zinc, and it'll support his mood and brain development. It's a pediatrician and pediatric dietician developed. It has zero sugar. It's vegan, gluten-free, free of the top nine allergens, and has no artificial sweeteners, dyes, or additives.
34:03And honestly, for me, it's just one less thing to stress about at mealtime. Ella Ola is offering our listeners 20 % off your first purchase. Just go to ellaola.com slash almost 30. So go to ellaola.com slash almost 30 for 20 % off your first purchase. So this was the second time that I was pregnant and I just love pregnancy because I get so attuned to like everything that I put in my body. And one of those things is my prenatal.
34:42A prenatal I recommend highly is from Ritual. The Ritual Essential Prenatal is a part of my routine and I really love it because it It has just these essential nutrients that we need during pregnancy, especially like choline, like folate and omega-3. I also love it because when I'm taking it, the sensory experience, it doesn't smell weird. It has like this little tab in there that keeps it really fresh, like a citrusy taste and smells. And I just found it to be gentler on my stomach. First trimester, I was so nauseous, but over the course of my entire pregnancy and I still take prenatals. Postpartum, it's really gentle on my stomach.
35:20Ritual selects bioavailable key nutrients designed for optimal absorption. So that's really important. Your body actually absorbs these and all of their products are evidence-based. So don't settle for less than evidence-based support. Save 25 % on your first month at ritual.com slash almost 30. That's ritual.com slash almost 30 for 25 % off your first month. Like a banana. And you try to like bend it or break it and it like never does. Yeah, or like the avocado. I had an avocado I bought like not a long time. And I was like, wait, I asked my roommate, why is this plastic? It feels like plastic.
35:57Wow. Yeah, there's a consistency that's very bizarre. Oh, no. So I think that that's kind of like how it works in Tunisia. You just eat what's in season. And I actually think that we were meant to eat what's in season. For example, the harvest of olive oil happens during wintertime, and that's the time where your immune system is down. You have more – maybe you're a little bit more weak and fragile and your health needs a little boost, and that's what the olive oil provides to you. So there's a correlation between what's available in the season and what your body needs during that time. So Tunisia's doing it right.
36:36Eating locally, family, friends, connection. Probably more rest. Probably less work. Yeah. More sun. More sun. Less stress. Less stress. We forget about our stress. Stress was making me also bloated. Stress is wild, man. I know. And sometimes you don't even know what stress is. I don't know. It could be a really hard workout. It could be like, yeah, you're working towards something that you really love. but like you're putting stress on your body. I don't know, but. Could be your relationship. Like it's like, I think most people are out of touch or I'll speak for myself. I'm out of touch with how stressed I am.
37:11I don't know. Like I'm like so happy, but then I'm like, I think my body would probably be like, wow, I'm stressed. Process something. Yeah, like processing way more stress. And I think in the States, like did you realize that when you came to the States, I'm sure it was so jarring culturally. Like how did you land here? Yeah, I think, I mean, another thing is that we, we're not on our phones when we eat and that's a huge thing because your gut is so I mean your gut brain it's so your body's so smart so when you have food and you're on your phone and you see something that might trigger you or stress you then your body's going to remember that next time you eat it's like this interesting synergy that's a very great point yeah I guess when I moved to the U.S.
37:53I was I felt like a kid in a candy store I was so happy and excited about all the opportunities. So I think for me, it's just, you know, coming from Tunisia, I obviously took what I learned from there and the health practices that my mom, you know, employed, but it was really about how can I just make the most out of the time that I have in Tunisia, not make the most out of it, because I live so far away from my family, I only see them once a year. Yeah. And I don't see my brother growing up. So it was really about how can I just make the most out of it. So I started to work, you know, I think when you're an international student, the easy path or best path to like stay in the country is to go and get sponsored for by a big tech company.
38:37So I did that. But then soon realized I'm actually made to be doing something from scratch and sharing the wisdom I have from going up in Tunisia. I feel like most people don't know. I think most people experience the impact that I had when they go to Europe, they're able to eat bread and pasta and all of it and then they come back to the U.S. and they're like wait what why do I not not feel the same way and that's because of our how the bread is made you know it's all about here it's all about consumption it's all about how quick and fast you can how quick you can nourish everybody I mean not even nourish feed I think Dr.
39:14Mark Hyman said um now we're working towards we've been working towards making a population being fed versus nourished and I love that because it's so true it's like back to the calories also like what are the nutrients that you get into your body yeah so it's like it's this thing but what is it so it's a good energy that's another book by um dr casey means good energy versus bad one so yeah a lot of times people in rural areas are like lower socioeconomic areas are actually maybe obese but starving because they're not nourished they're at food deserts they're eating stuff from gas stations and they just don't have access to food that's actually fulfilling or good.
39:55And those calories can just be kind of challenging. Yeah, it's so interesting, because I think your journey, it's like you were like, I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. And I knew I wanted to do something a lot of people have a calling to be outside of tech and do entrepreneurship and something different. Like, what was it about you? Like, you know, for anyone listening, that's like, I want to do something on my own. Like, can you talk about that process to leaving a corporate job and starting this? Yeah, I think that I had a conversation at that time with my career coach, and we were deciding, is this something that I got a coach?
40:30Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We had it with the big tech company I was working at. So cool. Yeah, it was really nice. I think that really having a conversation I'm always always chasing Like, I mean, I'm a Sag. So I really need that thing that I look up to. And I'm like, okay, this is my goal. So I had a conversation with her. And we were talking about, okay, there's two paths here. I can either climb the corporate ladder, or I can start something from scratch and really understand, you know, what that is and get excited and have my own rules. And that was something that was more exciting to me than just climb the corporate ladder.
41:07I was in one field. I was doing one thing. And I feel like I had so many more energy and stamina in me. And so that's when I was at the same time going through my health challenges. I got laid off. And then I was like, OK, I need to figure out how to stay in this country. I was like going through a lot of emotional struggles. And so that's when I think also my symptoms started to become really worse at that time. And I was, I got really passionate about hormones and learning about hormones because they can control you or they can empower you. And if you have the knowledge about your hormones and how they function, they can empower you.
41:46And that's so much better than having them control your day, your energy, your mood all the time. And so I got really passionate by this. So I told myself, this is great. information. I know that I want to build something. I know I wanted to be in women's health. Not so great. I do not have the community. I do not have a network. Yeah. And so that's when I decided to build my own community of founders in health tech, which in San Francisco, and that happened to be female founders building in women's health. Wow. And yeah, I started to host panels, events, dinner. And you just like were like, were you had you started the company?
42:26No. And no, I was I was just very fascinated about like women's health. And I didn't know yet what that thing was. But it's only when I found the olive oil as a tool for me and helping me that I got really excited. I was like, wait, this is my grandpa has been doing this. We have this unique family's olive grove. I can just share it with the world. So you started building the community first. Yeah. And you created a community of women that were founders. And then through that, I met the founder of a menopause, actually, tech startup. and I got really passionate by that. And so I had a coffee chat with her.
43:01This is more for anyone who's interested in like doing a career pivot. And I talked to her and I asked her, this is my goal. I am really passionate about women's health. I think there's a lot of opportunities that we can help women feel better. I think we're being sold and marketed all of these things that might not be really beneficial. They might cause more harm sometimes to your gut, all these spills. And I asked her, what do you think I should do? Should I go and get an MBA? Should I go work for another startup? Should I just start my own and learn on the go? And she recommended to join another startup to just learn for a year.
43:40And I happened to join hers. So I was the first business hire bringing the product to market. It was a wearable, kind of like whoop, but that predicted half flashes and counteracted that with a sleeping mat that cooled you down. Oh, wow. And so I learned a lot about perimenopause, the symptoms, all of our community. And it's funny because now we have the same market. And I didn't know Oliver helped also for perimenopause symptoms until I started this. And so it was like this beautiful synergy. Yeah, there's like just what I'm taking from that story is like you kind of had this like very quiet like rumbling of like this.
44:27The path that I'm on I don't think is for me in the long term, but you didn't like burn the house down and like right away with that feeling, which I think is it's sometimes the inclination because people can be so unhappy on like a certain like linear trajectory. But I love that you really paced yourself and you're like, OK, like all of this is really good information. You're talking to your coach. You're getting, you know, insight into, OK, like this is what I'm interested in. And these are the possibilities ahead of me. And then not jumping into starting something, but maybe learning from people who have started something.
45:04And so it's like this really paced way of getting really, I guess, closer to starting your own brand, but like done in a way that I'm sure you have anxiety. I'm sure there's been things that have stressed you out. But sometimes when I think we take the huge leap and just say, OK, let me start something tomorrow and like leave my job and like burn it all down. Sometimes it can cause so much anxiety. Yeah. And like kind of hold you back on the path. But I really love like the pace at which you did it, like the thoughtfulness around like just surrounding yourself with people who you want to learn from.
45:43And so, yeah, it's just really it's I think good for our girls to hear that. Yeah. Sounds very fearless. Like starting a community that you weren't necessarily in is really bold. You know, learn from people. Yeah, I think that's really smart. Like a lot of people, even if they have done something, don't feel imposter of something that would be obvious. Like I could see people having podcasts and being like, I'm afraid to be in that community because of X, Y, and Z. And you were like, like you kind of manifested by creating that and being in conversations and having people like that. I think that's super inspiring for people.
46:19What on your journey have you learned? Like for anyone that wants to leave their corporate career and start their own thing, like what would be a piece of advice you would give them? There is no moment that you will be ready. I was doing everything to be ready. There's no such thing as that because you're never going to be ready. There's always more that you can do. There's always more that you can learn. And I was trying to do the best thing. I was really stressful about, should I take this path? I had so many decisions to make. Like, should I continue working for the startup? Should I just launch my own thing?
46:56Should I do it at the same time? Because this came came along. And so I think I was like just overthinking the future because I'm like, you know, perfectionist. I want everything to go my way. I want to control everything. But it was just letting go. And knowing that the answer will come to me as well as the sound like that is really what happened. And, and, and, and really trusting yourself. And, you know, I know, not a lot of things. I when you think about it, I only worked for like two years. somewhere else and then I start my own thing but I learn every single day every single day I do something I've never done before if even like sitting here I've never done this before wow but it's just about how you show up showing up authentically and I just keep reminding myself that and the last piece of advice I know you asked for one but that's the big one you know you're never going to be ready so just do it and trust yourself but really that I did a lot of we don't realize it's so it's not about what you learn it's not about oh the the the practical like the theory things that you have to learn about business or marketing and all of that or science it's really just about the person that you are and the person that the resilience that you have and the mental resilience I would say because you're going to see challenges all the time and what really helped me was every single morning meditating every single morning journaling like really like almost working harder to create that person versus like collecting the the the practical learning like i said in guide so like focusing on the identity of the person yeah yeah oh that's huge business yeah yeah i mean back to your point i think that when you are not from you're not from this country I don't have any family members here the people who are part of my community today my friends you know are people I've met here over the past eight years or maybe like over the past two years so you learn to create your own luck and really create your own environment you don't have that network you just do it because it's like otherwise what I can't call my uncle or my dad hey do you know someone here it's just like you have to figure it out on your own.
49:12And I think that that's the thing that I'm grateful that I, you know, my parents raised me to maybe have that attribute. Well, I think you can, you can have it. You can, you can create that. It's almost like you don't have any safety net. So it kind of like forces you to push yourself outside. Like if you have some family, some friends around you kind of would settle into that. Like, it's like, if you go to a party and you have a friend, you're most likely to be with that friend all night instead of not talking to new people. But if you go alone, And you're probably going to talk to new people and kind of put yourself out there, which is so, so good.
49:43With entrepreneurship, you know, for people that are entrepreneurs, like, and you've created a successful brand and business, like, what is some entrepreneurial advice that you would give? I mean, the main ones are the ones that I mentioned earlier about really the identity that you build and like making sure that you're creating a ritual or I like to call it ritual versus routine. where you do the things that really help you feel better. I think that the, I mean, the best advice is really, because when I think about entrepreneurship, I think about problem solving. I think about problems all the time.
50:19Like Emma agreed yesterday, she did a video. She was like, people think that I get calls all the time and people were like with good news. No, her entire day is with bad news. And so I think that what you learn is that, you know what, you only have one life. when you're you're really risk oriented when you're an entrepreneur because you're like whatever like I just I just want to make things okay Kristen and I have built this business and this brand over the last 10 years not just by ourselves we have had lots of support in many different ways and Upwork was an essential part of our growth and our evolution at points you can't do this alone so you must outsource at points.

I just took my son to the dentist for the first time. It was very cute. He did a great job. I was very nervous that he would just have a total meltdown and not let them look at his teeth, but did a great job. But I was thinking about my own dental health, postpartum, got to get back to the dentist. I was really excited to find this brand for us all. Okay. So it's called Lorene and this is a chewing gum. Okay. This is a chewing gum that is better for you, better for your teeth.
52:36It uses nano hydroxy appetite, and this is the mineral your teeth are actually made of. So this is going to support your enamel health. So if If you're eating and drinking things that aren't necessarily good for your teeth, like let's replace it or at least follow it with some Lorene. They sent me some to try and I was like, wait, this is actually very good. The mint flavor is phenomenal. So that's my favorite. I'll usually chew it after meals or after I have my coffee in the morning and my mouth just feels very fresh, which is always a nice feeling. My husband loves it. so right now laurene co is offering our listeners up to 50 off at by laurene.com slash almost 30 that's b-u-y-l-a-r-i-n-e.com slash almost 30 for up to 50 off happen i love that quote like an idiot in emotion will always go further than a genius at best which is true like you that's that's kind of like the essence of being an entrepreneur like both of view like let's just do this and see how it goes so i think for the first for those that want to start try it and see how it goes because then you won't regret that when i started this i told myself if there's someone else that started this how i would feel how would i feel yeah and i knew i would feel horrible because this has helped me so much and i know i want to i knew i had it in me that i wanted to help all the other people also and share with the world and so that's kind of one and then the second is really making sure that you're constantly okay with these challenges and knowing that's just part of life and enjoying actually and the last one will be to have fun i was talking to my roommate yesterday and i was telling her about this podcast and i was telling her i'm just like looking forward to have fun yeah like why would i do something like this create a brand that's about food as medicine ancient remedies for modern health like all about health and stress myself out that makes no sense yeah you know it's all about having fun and and and shining your light to other people whatever it is and finding your icky guy yeah so i think the the that was a lot of advice in one because i have so many from what i learned and i think when you're a solo founder you also have to deal with things alone that's another thing definitely get an exec coach a therapist yeah a group of friends it is not easy for whoever makes it like I think people nowadays are like, I create my job in tech to build X, Y, Z.
55:04Not easy at all. This is the glamorous thing that you're saying. It's not glamorous at all. The behind the scenes are rough. Last year was a really, really tough. Like now we're, you know, we're getting the message out and things to Haley Beaver and all of the people out there that are, you know, getting these olive oil shots and talking about it. It's helping. But last year, people were looking at me like I had three heads. Olive oil shots? How are you going to convince the average American to drink olive oil? Wow. But that's like, no. Mediterranians have been doing it for a while. There is science that proves it.
55:35Like, let's shift the narrative. Are Europeans and like Mediterranean especially, like, are they on, do they look at the trend and they roll their eyes? Like, what is the vibe? Would they, I hope they're taking this too. Or do they just have it growing and they just press it? yeah we get a lot of requests to to sell in um uk and france okay it just doesn't make sense for us right now you know it's a little bit cost costly and uk is for all of a shot it's interesting there's an interest i don't know why what it is i think they're into wellness but they're you know what they are doing well they are talking a lot about women's health and they're hosting a lot of conferences and they have a lot of great companies there um in that field so they do well their eyes they're like what but they don't understand because you know usually but this is so i always say why this isn't a shot format i think that we we should talk about it because it's weird right like i should have i could have introduced a big bottle yeah and there's two reasons why when i got started i was telling a friend about it i was like yes i'm excited i'm going to introduce this these big bottles beautiful and I'm gonna you know have this and sell to people in the U.S.
56:54what my family has been growing and I'm gonna have people take a shot of it because I'm more passionate about the health benefits that this has to bring it's very premium you do not want to cook with this this is like you really want to take it every morning it is your medicine and I was saying that and she looked at me and she said wait there's there are like ginger shots all over the place like why don't you do olive oil shots and we started to google around and see if there was anything like that nothing nothing try to do it now you'll see but like it was i think two years ago now there was nothing and so she's also founder and she's like oh i think we've got an idea here let's put it into olive oil shots and so that's kind of like why we decided to do that too.
57:42And there's another reason to it that comes more from the practical and consumer behavior shift. So when I spoke to a lot of doctors, what I kept hearing over and over again is that their patients would rather try any supplements of the shelf than change their diet. So I understood that I had to create a thing because this is essentially like introducing something to your diet. This is really, really good. It's helping your diet. So I thought to myself, well, how can we, this is strategic also, because we're introducing, we're taking the convenience that the supplements has to bring, and matching that with the effectiveness of a diet.
58:28And that's why these shots are like in small format. And so, you know, you want to make it really clear for someone who goes to the grocery, or not to the grocery store, but for someone who is online to understand this is meant to be taken as a shot because no one would take a shot if i said like here's a bottle like take a shot of it you wouldn't you would just use it on your food it's almost like too much it's too much effort and a little intimidating like where you're just it's almost like you people love single use this has like very um little friction yeah boom done and this is very american in iin they do they talk about crowding out so it's basically adding more good to your diet instead of removing and people love to add more instead of removing like also Americans are just like more and more and more stuff so it makes a lot of sense and I think as long as and I think what's nice about it is that the fat coating people's stomachs in the morning could help them with their blood sugar and the feeling of fullness which will help them overall and I do think there is like when you do start off your day well you're more likely to continue the day well and like you know feel good your blood sugar would I I really am curious about the effects on blood sugar, because I would imagine having fat right away in the morning.
59:36So basically, it's important you have this on an empty stomach, right? So I would say if you're just getting started having a 30 minutes before lunch or a meal, so that you're not, you know, you actually have food after, which is good. And it helps you with your bloating. If you're if you're used to it, you can have it on the morning in the morning as well. It can even be before your breakfast. It's really, really good. I agree with you that it really sets you up for the day. Yeah. So you don't have blood like usually I take one. But sometimes if I have dinner out in New York, I'm going to have a shot, especially if I have like a meal that's high in sugar or carb heavy.
1:00:08Yeah. And for the blood sugar, it's so funny that you asked that because I actually did an experiment for 30 days where I had a continuous glucose monitor and I was testing the same food, but taking the shot before and not taking the shot. And I saw a huge difference in my glucose spikes. I mean, this is already proven by studies, but I was curious and I was like, oh, maybe, you know, what are the foods that are spiking my blood sugar? And so I had sushi twice on separate days. One, and it was like kind of the similar sushi. And one, I didn't take the shot before. And the other day I took the shot 30 minutes before.
1:00:46And you see a huge difference, about 60 points dropped from the one where I actually took the shot of olive oil before. Wow. Another thing that was fascinating from that experiment was on there was a day where I had a mescalita beer and like other things like that, like high in sugar and carb. And I actually took the shot before. And another day where I had a protein smoothie, a healthy meal, all of that. And my blood glucose spiked on that day, even if it was healthy food, but it wasn't with the olive oil. And so it's interesting to see like even healthy, like not healthy foods. I mean, I say healthy foods.
1:01:25It's matcha. It's a protein smoothie that was probably high in sugar because so versus like, yeah. So this is a little hack. If you want to have pizza or pasta or anything that's carb heavy or high in sugar, like even candy, having the shot 30 minutes before, you know, will really help you stabilize your blood sugar. So you don't feel tired or you don't feel, you know, sluggish. and it's really amazing like i mean it's my little hack especially when i eat out in new york love that so good and is there um i feel like people add lemon to it does that ruin this one that's a good one yeah so there's no lemon here because the as i said the polyphenols they are very sensitive to anything else like acid will alter the so you can't actually mix it together so people do that just for the taste they're not doing it for the lemon benefit no i mean the lemon benefits are what we know you know it's vitamin c it's good for you but i would say the main health benefits that you're getting is to the olive oil that is really high in polyphenols like now if you're going to take a shot of olive oil really look for polyphenol count that's what i mentioned earlier and so yeah i think most people do it for the taste got it okay guys so we're holding the little bottle it's like a few inches long it's a high phenolic yes high phenolic means high in polyphenols 1800 milligrams of polyphenols it's like a brown glass from winter harvest 2026 so what like January what's winter in Tunisia so it's it's no it's usually like um kind of winter here so it would be um November through January so it was like January 26th so do we take this little yeah you take the white thing off it's just like for leakage um we struggle with that I'm like excited about this okay guys cheers you just send it back oh people think that I still that I like to do it it's peppery isn't it it's peppery it's not for the taste it's really for I love the mouth feel of olive oil, though.
1:03:20Oh, do you? Yeah, do you? I have to be like, sometimes if I take it first thing in the morning, to your point, you just got to shoot it back. Because sometimes I'm like sensitive in the morning. It does not bother my stomach at all. But like the mouth feel of olive oil. Yeah, this actually isn't. Oh, my God, I love it. It doesn't have a thickness that I think. It's like smooth. Yeah, it's really. Makes me hungry for like carbs. Well, you'll see. Yeah, honestly, I'm like ready for a pack. You're saying this right now. wait wait until we finish and you'll see how you're not going to feel hungry as you're used to this is called nature's um exemplary i know i'm not supposed to say that but it helps um produce natural glp1 in your body it activates the same enzyme and so that's why you feel more satiated and feel full longer wow that was delicious and so that peppery kick in the back of your throat that is the the polyphenols specifically oleacenthal which is the same uh has the same anti-inflammatory properties as found in ibuprofen.
1:04:18Wow. And that was found by this like sensory scientist. So this has natural GLP-1 too. So if you take it in the morning, it'll like produce that. You can't say that, but we can say it. Yeah, we can say it. I know, right? Exactly. So you're saying that this is better than Ozempic. Oh boy, I'm going to get canceled. That was like, so could I dip bread in this or is it just for a shot? It is just for a shot because it's very rare. Let me have bread. But Krista, you're saying this right now. I guarantee you in like couple, like wait like five to ten minutes, you're not going to feel hungry as you used to.
1:04:49And like, I don't know if you had breakfast or not or even lunch. Like you're not going to feel as hungry. It's just kind of. But can I have it with bread? Just a very expensive piece of bread. No, yeah, exactly. Just supposed to have it on its own. Yes. The goal, like I said earlier, it's not, this is not an Olible brand. We really focus on the health benefits that the Olible has to bring. so really focusing on the polyphenols okay yeah i usually like to drink water you guys are babies i like it with nothing i think it's delicious but what you mentioned earlier about hormones and your work um with that tech company around menopause i am full now i'm very menopause um oh you're full yeah very full oh gosh just kidding no i already had like protein shake bar I'm like very full.
1:05:36This is amazing. I guess what do you want to say about the effects that this can have on your hormone health, hormone balance? So when I first introduced this, I knew about gut health because I read about it. It was my anecdotal research, I mean anecdotal experience. And what I realized was that I, after a couple of months of launching, I do a lot of customer feedback because, you know, it has helped me. I see the science, but I really, really, my goal with this, I really want to make sure that our community, they are feeling better. They are saying, because something that I hated was all the pills that I was taking, all the different products I was taking that actually weren't moving.
1:06:16Like, that wasn't really helping. And so I made it a point to really check with customers and ask them, like, how do you feel? Is this helping you? Can I, you know, and that's why I changed to saying from an empty stomach to saying 30 minutes before a meal. So it's like, you know, you have food after. And what I've noticed actually is that a lot of women who have PCOS and endometriosis were taking these shots every day because they were hoping to reverse naturally like their condition, hormonal condition. And what I've learned is that when you have PCOS or endo, you want to reduce inflammation and you want to regulate your blood sugar because your insulin sensitivity needs to be more stabilized.
1:06:59And so that's, as I mentioned earlier, what olive oil does. So this is kind of like the natural way of like, you know, this is quick and easy to introduce in your diet. You take it and don't think about it. And it should help with, you know, regulating your blood sugar if it goes all the way up. Wow. And then for another thing that was interesting, because I always say it's women who have any kind of hormonal imbalance condition as well, who want something like natural. but I also learned that when you go through perimenopause, you start having, and this is something that I've learned with my mom, which is funny, Alia, which is the name of the brand, is named after her and also because Exalted.
1:07:40I mean, I came to the name even without knowing that it was kind of like, it kind of happened super randomly. But I was... No, it came to the name from, it was her name, but then there's also Exalted, it means something. exalted and sublime and like beautiful wow i love that like exalted one yeah oh yeah like elevated oh my gosh i love that and we had yeah it was gaia first great goddess of mother nature but because of like another company we had to change it and shift it up yeah but i think and so what i've learned is that as you go through perimenopause your estrogen goes down and that's when estrogen is responsible to activate this enzyme that store fats like all over but because it's no more as present, it's you start having visceral fat around kind of like abdominal fat.
1:08:28And this is something that happens to most women as they, you know, go through their experience of perimenopause. And you're going to hear, I mean, I'm sure you've heard all about it, like you do not change. And I was working in the field, so I know about it. You do not change anything about your diet, your workout, maybe you work out even more now. And you start noticing There's just something you can't control about your body. You start feeling more bloated. You start feeling more fatigued. You have brain fog. And so there are studies that have been shown like two things. Adopting a Mediterranean diet rich in extra virgin olive oil helps a ton, reduce those oxidative markers that come through.
1:09:08And then the second thing is really just making sure that you do strength training, you know. And so I think that that's the interesting thing that I've learned because when I introduced this, I was like, oh, like bloating, that was the main thing. And then realized actually what it does is I can create a balance in your gut, you know, in your metabolic health. And so that really helps, especially when the hormones like estrogen goes down. Yeah, it's incredible. And I think so many women are going through this and feeling like very hopeless and out of control. And so this type of ritual, I feel like, is a really beautiful one to have first thing and just simplify instead of like taking all the medications and feeling like you just need to be on something for the rest of your life.
1:09:53I love that idea of just like even kind of trying for 30 days, just having this in the morning. See how you feel, like clean out the rest of your closet, taking a little detox from everything else. I'm excited for our audience to try. Anything else you want to leave with our family today? No, I think just if you will try this, let me know. I would love to hear about your experience. If there's any question, I'm always happy to answer. I know it's like a new ritual, but I really am always available. You know, I answer all of our emails, especially when we get from customers, because my hope is, I mean, it's really, really just about you feeling better and knowing that you're not supposed to just be okay with bloating.
1:10:36Or this is like it's not it's your body signaling something to you if you're feeling these symptoms. And so always thinking about like the root cause solution, like what at the root, what is the root cause of what's going on right now? You know, you know, maybe it's also your stress. You're staying clean, your closet. Maybe there's other things to do. So I think that approaching it from a holistic way is always really important. Beautiful. So good. Thank you for having me. Congratulations. You both are amazing. Thank you. In your first pod, you did. Can you tell our audience about their discount for them to try?

And I'm excited to add it to my diet and especially for brain health. That's important to me. Yeah, exactly. I think the first week it's going to be more like the regular bowel movements. Cool. Second week is going to be you're going to notice kind of like the cravings going down. Cool. Yeah. So the blood sugar kind of metabolic health benefits coming out too.
1:11:51And then at the end of the month, hopefully your skin will clear it out naturally. You know, we call it ingestible skin care. Yeah. And that's when your brain also becomes really like, there are studies showing like how sharper you become. Because obviously, again, the gut and brain are connected. And so when your gut is balanced and there's lower inflammation, your brain is able to function properly. Right. I need that right now. Incredible. I need that. All right, guys. Enjoy. So excited for you to try and experience. I loved it. I thought it was delicious. I was so hungry. I was like, I'm not hungry.
