0:00The following podcast is a Dear Media Production.

0:07Welcome to Breaking Beauty, the podcast all about the breakthrough people, products, and moments in beauty. We're your hosts, Jill Dunn and Carlene Higgins.

0:20Welcome back to Breaking Beauty podcast, everyone. Carlene is here in my basement and we are surrounded by a lot of products because we are delivering a hashtag damn good special. Yes. It's all about our 2024 empties. So these are all the products that we really use to the end. So, you know, first of all, we are two beauty editors turned beauty podcasters delivering the breakthrough people, products and moments in beauty every single Wednesday. That's right. And once a month, we bring you these damn goods episodes. And typically we talk about what's new on shelves. But today we're taking a little break from that.

0:59And we're telling you just are truly our favorite products of the year. The proof is that we use them down to the bottom. Yes. These are our empties. Yeah. And I will say in the mix, there's definitely some new products from 2024 that I emptied. So normally, Carlene, we do these once a month and we did do a gift guide at the beginning of November in order to kind of line up with the Sephora sale. And we even heard from some people, they were like, we liked that, but we want more. And so we're delivering. And because of course, it's Black Friday, it's Cyber Monday coming up. And I know a lot of people just wait because they want the really good deals.

1:31And I do want to remind everybody that we have a Hall of Fame. Yes. Vertical on our website. So these are the products that are like the tried and true. In seven years of doing this podcast, we like compiled a whole list a couple of years ago. Yes, we did. And we will update it, you know, accordingly with our favorites. We'll go ahead and link to our Hall of Fame in our show notes, just so that, you know, if you want to shop them for Black Friday, then you've got that at the ready. Yeah. So today we're going to be talking about skincare favorites, makeup favorites. I would just I would just say in general for 2024, we had to dig deep.

2:09And I really love the idea of the dopamine menu. I don't know if you heard of that this year, Carlene. What's that? So it was actually coined by a fellow podcaster on Dear Media and I kind of went viral. Her name is Peyton Sartre, I believe. And she just talked about we can drink our tea and have our supplements and all of that. But you also need other things on your quote unquote dopamine menu. So whether that's getting together with your girlfriends for coffee, whether that's, you know, wearing a really bright lipstick, things that just bump up your dopamine. Designer bag. Designer bags, your finds a common sort.

2:40Yeah. These types of things that keep us going. And the dopamine spikes, spikers, if you will. So I think I would say some of these products did that for me this year. Okay, good. I can't wait to see and compare because I noticed we have at least one product that we both have empty here on the table. So we'll share what that is just ahead. And I just want to remind everybody, Carlene, of course we have our Hall of Fame, but we will link every single thing that we talk about over on our website, which is breakingbeautypodcast.com. Don't forget to subscribe to us on YouTube, subscribe to our newsletter.

3:16It's almost time for our monthly favorites newsletter. Everyone, if you're not subscribed, you definitely want to. We're talking about spas that we like. We talk about clothes that we like. We're talking about just our favorite things. Speaking of dopamine menus and follow us on TikTok and on Instagram for behind the scenes clips and more. Yes. And one final thing is in our affiliate links, because we do make a small percentage of affiliate monies that helps to support the show. But we will link to the best deal we can find. If there's a Black Friday deal in anything we mentioned today, we will link to that best deal we can find.

3:54Rest assured. Okay. We've got you. We got you. Okay. Let's dive in.

4:04Hi, y 'all. I'm Kinsey and I'm the host of Housecast Podcast. I am a Gen Z wannabe Martha Stewart meets Dolly Parton trying to live in a Nancy Meyers movie. We talk all about life, relationships, and navigating your 20s. I'd like to say I'm multifaceted. I'm either waking up at 4 a.m. in the sauna, tending to my garden, or closing out the bars until 2 a.m. You just never know what you're going to get. It's either me at home and my house in Texas that I spend way too much time in, or in the studio with some pretty cool guests. You can follow us at The HouseguestPod and listen or watch all new episodes every Thursday, wherever you get your podcast or on YouTube.

4:45Nutrafol is one of our show partners this week. And it's trusted by over 1 million people. So you can see thicker, stronger, faster growing hair with less shedding in just three to six months with Nutrafol.

5:28That's what I definitely notice when I'm on my Nutrafol routine, far less shedding. So my hair looks thicker and fuller. So that's Nutrafol.com spelled N-U-T-R-A-F-O-L.com and use our promo code BREAKING to save$10 off your first month subscription.

6:09That's Nutrafol.com promo code BREAKING. We'll link to this offer in our show notes and on our website. This episode is brought to you in part by HelioCare. So we're always talking about skincare around here at Breaking Beauty, I want to flip the switch for a moment and talk about supplements. But first, let's do a little reminder on antioxidants. So what are they? Antioxidants are vitamins and other nutrients that help protect your cells from the damaging effects of free radicals. And antioxidants really benefit the skin by preventing or slowing aging and cellular damage. But they're not only found in skincare, they're also found in food and supplements.

6:49Enter HelioCare, daily use antioxidant formula. It uses a proprietary and powerful extract that's rich in antioxidant properties called Fernblock PLE technology. And this formula is clinically proven, it's plant derived, and it's recommended by dermatologists across the country because it works to provide an extra layer of skin defense and help maintain healthy skin. So it's really about thinking about antioxidant protection, not only from the outside, topically what we might do with a serum, but from the inside using a supplement. You can try Helio Care for yourself by visiting lovelyskin.com slash HCBB15 and use code HCBB15 at checkout for 15 % off your Helio Care purchase.

7:39It's the perfect time to get into a routine with the new year right around the corner, visit lovelyskin.com slash HCBB15 and use code HCBB15 at checkout for 15 % off your HelioCare purchase. We're going to link to this offer on our website and in our show notes. Friendly reminder that these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. And now back to our show.

8:20So Jill, I want to ask you, what was your absolute fave that you emptied to the last drop that you want to share with everybody that might be like a little bit unexpected? Okay, well, I'm going to issue an apology right away because I love this product and it is luxe. It is expensive. Okay. Get ready, everybody. Yeah. So the product that I'm going to mention is from Dr. Diamond. It's the medicine line. So there's two products in the line. There is the InstaFacial Plasma Bioactive Growth Factor Serum. Okay. So it's a serum. Yeah. And then there's the InstaFacial Emulsion. So the emulsion, it's a moisturizer.

9:02That's how you would use it in your routine, it's$350 US. The serum is$200 US. Together, obviously,$550. I did reach out though to see if there was going to be any deals and they really never go on sale. But from Black Friday to Cyber Monday, so November 29th to December 2nd, there's going to be 20 % off full-size products only. Okay. Plus there's early access on Wednesday, November 27th. If you're subscribed to their email list. Okay. We love designer for less. This is like my middle name. And I feel like this is very hoity toity because he's, is he like a celebrity plastic surgeon? Yes. He is based in Beverly Hills.

9:4890210 is on this packaging. So, you know, listen, it's, it's not going to be drugstore price point. So it's Beverly Hills based double board certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Jason Diamond. If you watch reality TV, you've definitely seen him on the Kardashians. He works with so many legit celebs. And this whole InstaFacial collection is a nighttime treatment that supports collagen production and giving you the benefits of retinol without the irritation. And it actually has peptides, a non-irritating retinoid, a human identical growth factor, niacinamide, and four different molecular weight hyaluronic acids.

10:30And those all work together to support that cell renewal, elastin, hyaluronic acid. And what I just loved about it, though, Carleen, was like the softness, how much it softened my fine lines. Like you actually see the results, which is why I don't mind talking about it, even though it has such a steep price point. And I literally did empty it. I'm going to be very sad when this is done. I wanted to also mention that he basically was inspired by microneedling treatments in his office and plasma treatments to create this collection. Wow. I'm surprised because I think it's interesting. I think people are really into derm-created skincare lines.

11:14Plastic surgeon-created skincare lines are a little bit more iffy, I would say, just because, you know, they have a different sort of expertise. Yes. And I think why plastic surgeons originally got in the game and speaking from somebody who had plastic surgery earlier this year, you do wonder, like, what is it safe for me to put on my face, on my scars? So they have a captive audience where like I literally bought this random Skinuva scar formulation thing to put over my scars and emptied it because it was just like, even Even though I have a closet full of products, I was like, surely I can use, you know, these other things.

11:54But I want to know from the doctor that it's safe. So it's interesting, though, because these products are not that. Exactly. Right. Yeah, they're not post-op. Right. This is for if you can't make it to Dr. Jason Diamond. The idea is that you get the results from one of his treatments. Now, a lot of people may say, oh, my God,$550. I'm just going to pay for a laser. I'm just going to pay for microneedling. Totally, totally hear that. But I think this is like for somebody who is probably already getting the lasers and this is like in between treatments. And they can afford it. And exactly. And this has had so much buzz online and they do have a trial size format.

12:34Now it's still like very expensive. But I think it was interesting when we talked to Dr. Sheila not long ago, I believe it was Dr. Sheila, she was talking about how expensive peptides are. in a formula and good peptides. And I think that that is reflected in the price point. And he's also using a different type of retinol. It's called, stick with me here, everyone,

12:59hydroxypinocolone retinoid, which is often known as HPR, and it's a newer form. And the Journal of Academy of Dermatology said that HPR is a cosmetic grade ester of Atra. It's unique in And it's in the fact that it processes retinoic acid activity binding directly with retinoid receptors without the need for a metabolic breakdown to more biologically active form. So it's working more quickly and it's not irritating. Okay. Interesting. Yeah. So he is more legit. So the emulsion has that HPR in it. And the other one is the... It's plasma. Yeah. So it's the growth factors, right? Yeah. Which growth factors we know are very expensive.

13:40Yeah. And I I sort of got into the whole growth factors thing when it was recommended to us by Joanna Vargas. Yes. Who was on our show and she we were kind of like drilling her on what the latest ingredients are that are really worth investing in. And she had mentioned that she thinks growth factors are like the next thing. And my big takeaway from that was like this is what kind of heals the skin from all the damage that you do. So on that note, I am also holding the BioEffect EGF serum. I've emptied a few of those in my day. Epidermal growth factor. I mean, I have to say it's not that hard to empty because it's only 15 mils, which is 0.5 fluid ounces.

14:23So it is small. But what it feels like is it's clear, right? And it feels like hyaluronic acid going on. So you get this really quenched feeling. What I love about these types of serums is that they're really easy to layer. They don't like it's not going to stop you from using anything else in your routine because, you know, you've added something thick. But I really emptied this again because it's just that idea of like repairing. It's repairing anything I'm doing and it's safe for me to use like when I come back from doing BBL treatments at the office, that kind of thing. Again, broadband light.

14:57Not exactly. Not a big not a big booty. So this bio effect serum, which truly was one of the first to get really popular. Yeah, I've used that. I remember meeting the founder probably like Before we started the podcast. Really? Yeah. Wow. Okay. Didn't realize it was that long in the making. So this one is$175 US for this tiny vial,$239 in Canada. I do want to give you the heads up that Dermstore is putting it on sale for Black Friday. It's going to be 25 % off from November 23rd to December 2nd. So that's the weekend of Black Friday. Yes. So 25 % off is fantastic. We love GermStore. They also, just so you guys know, they're going to have deals on 111Skin and they are going to have a lot more on sale.

15:50Allies of Skin, which we recently had the founder on our show, 25 % off, guys. Yeah. But if you use our code, you get 30 percent off. There you go. So we'll also list our codes next to anything that we talk about on this show. So Alives of Skin also has a growth factor serum with peptides. I talked about that on Dr. Sheila. It's really good. So if you're into this idea, again, that one's going to be on special. And we have a code 30 percent off Beauty Blender. I mean, that's not something that's possible to empty, but trust me, if you could empty it, mine would be empty like 20 times over. 30 % off Bioderma, which Jill's going to talk about soon.

16:31I see an empty on our table. Briogeo, 30 % off. And like the list goes on. This is all alphabetical. It just goes on and on and on. So honestly, Dermstore is going to be a hot ticket this Black Friday. By the way, our code for Dermstore, and I will just issue a disclaimer that I don't know if it can be stacked with existing discounts and some exceptions do apply. But if you go to Dermstore.com slash Breaking Beauty and use our code Breaking Beauty, they'll give you 15 % off select items, which is fantastic. And we have that ongoing, everyone. I want to just say that our Dermstore promo is ongoing.

17:12So you can always try to use that. Of course, it can't be Empty's chat without mentioning Bioderma, which we've talked about probably one of the most talked about products on our show ever. This is the Missilar Water makeup remover for sensitive skin, the one with the red cap, everybody. And I've emptied probably three of these this year. It's just my go-to. It's so good for sensitive skin, takes off all of my makeup and it's just the best. It really is. Yeah, I totally agree. And on that note, La Roche-Posay, the micellar water. I say micellar, you say micellar. I looked it up and apparently it is micellar.

17:51But anybody out there can fight me on it. So La Roche-Posay micellar water, ultra sensitive skin. So again, Jill and I both have sensitive skin. I've used this almost to the bottom. It will be empty by the end of the year. I love that it's like, this is totally derm approved. And I always use it with the makeup eraser, which again, if makeup eraser could be emptied. That would be like I just wash those every single week. It's part of my routine. The amount of use that I get out of those. And I find I don't need to use an oil-based cleanser to get off my eye makeup if I use this combo. So sensitive skin girlies.

18:27Now... Does this one have a scent? This is what I'm remembering. I don't find so. It's for sensitive skin. So I think they would be in big trouble if they did that. In the U.S. it's$18.99. In Canada it's$24.50. And it is a big size. It's 400 mils, 13.5 fluid ounces. This will also be on Germ Stores Black Friday sale 20 % off from November 23rd to December 2nd. So I think one of the most viral moisturizers of 2024 that I actually loved and emptied is the In Beauty Project Extreme Cream. And this is the firming and lifting moisturizer. So this is refillable. It's$48 and$65 in Canada. So it's got peptides, it's got bioretinol, it's got three different ceramides.

19:17So that's like for strengthening skin's barrier. And I just really loved it. And I feel as though it really rivals like a Luxe cream. I think they were trying to dupe like an Augustinus botter. Yeah. Is what I think. Yeah. Now I've gone through two of these. Oh, wow. Yeah. Good on you. And normally anything that's like extreme cream normally screams like heavy breakout. So this did not. This is what I use like all winter when I first launched. I loved it. And then I kept using it and I love it under makeup as well. Now, my only challenge with this, Carlene, is like it is refillable and I love that idea.

19:57But I'll be honest, when I did the refill, which is a little bit cheaper for you to purchase, like the actual bottle is glass for this moisturizer. I didn't realize that. Yeah. So if you screw off the top, you can see like the refill just pops in. Oh, cool. Now, I had a little bit of difficulty putting the refill in and I did lose some product because of it. Okay. So I think they need to fix that. That's my note to them. Okay. But otherwise, I think it's fantastic. And then, Carlene, just in terms of savings from this brand. So on Black Friday at inbeautyproject.com. So that's their own website.

20:35They're going to have up to 30 % off site-wide. And then they have all of these bundles. One that I'm looking at right now that's adorable. It's called Extreme Home and Away. So it features that extreme cream that I just raved about. So that's their firming and lifting moisturizer and they have it in a full size and then a travel size, quote unquote, the away version. And it comes in a little corduroy pouch, which is really, really cute. This great pink color. Normally it would be retail value of$89 and it's on for$59. So that's about 33 % off. And I do encourage you to look at the before and afters for this particular product that I was just mentioning because they actually use real women.

21:17and the results are amazing. And I really appreciate how they're using models who are not 20 years old to show off the results of this product. Yeah, very cool. You and I sat down with the founders when we were in LA. Yeah, it was in February. Yeah, and we met with the founders. So that's Alyssa Metzger and Jen Shane. And they used to work at Tula, I believe. Tula Skin Care. And Jen, she's the head of innovation. So she was previously a product developer at Tula, like you said. And so her whole thing is like, I go direct to the ingredient manufacturers. There's no middleman. And that's why they're able to offer these great prices for these formulas that, you know, normally might have a much higher markup.

22:07Yeah. And so it was interesting to me because that day that we went for this in beauty preview, like I really thought this whole line was for Gen Z. Correct. And that's the day that I learned this is obviously for more mature skin types, this particular product. I'm curious what a bioretinol is, though. I think a bioretinol is plant-based. I don't have their exact formulation right in front of me. It says it's got 2 % bioretinol. Yeah. This product from this brand, to your point, made me rethink the entire brand. Yeah. And this brand will probably be the next big one scooped up by like a P &G or whatever because I just think their formulations are incredible.

22:47And it makes me want to dive deeper into their universe of skincare. I talked about their lip oils probably three summers ago when they first came out. They had the lip glazes, very bright neon packaging. Everything about it was Gen Z, as you said. Interesting. Okay. Well, speaking of Gen Z, I need to do a shout out to a product that is a total empty. It's so squished and like beloved. loved it's the Kate Somerville exfoliate intensive exfoliating treatment iconic iconic hall of fame for sure it's definitely on the hall of fame and guys just a heads up now I have to tell you that I didn't realize how expensive this product is because it is kind of like an exfoliating mask right and I just it's not something I would have expected to cost what it does so it is 165 US and$222 Canadian dollars for this product.

23:47Did you know it costs that much? It didn't used to cost that much because I've used that forever. Now, maybe they have a smaller size? Yeah, this is a large size. It's 150 mils or five fluid ounces. But anyway, it is quite pricey. And I just read that it's going to be 30 % off at GermStore for Black Friday. Again, November 23rd to December 2nd. So that is a hot deal, 30 % off. But this product is like what I was going to say about Gen Z, my daughter is 14 and she has quite a bit of acne now. And so it's not great for her, but it's great for me because she can test products for all of our acne prone listeners out there and tell me what she really thinks moves the needle.

24:31And honestly, the biggest evidence is when it's completely on empty like this. Yeah. So I was going to say, this doesn't strike me is something that you've been using. Yeah, exactly. I was going to say, I love it, but I love that type of product. Yeah, exactly. So, and if you guys want to know more about it, what makes it so magical, I believe it's called the Two Minute Hollywood Facial is kind of what it's been nicknamed. And go back and listen to our episode with Kate Somerville. That's what I was going to say. Yeah. First of all, great episode. Yeah. Like she... It's one of the ones that people listen to over and over again because she is a gem of a human being.

25:09Yeah. And she's got a great story behind how she even started this line. It wasn't just like in a boardroom, I'm here to make millions. Yeah, we should put that episode on YouTube actually. Yeah, or replay it or something. Yeah. Yeah, we should. Anyway, she's fantastic, but also there with the tips. Like this woman knows what she's doing. She is an OG OG. So it's a magical product and there's a good reason why it's empty. Incredible. Yeah. Love it. Yeah. I think it's green as well. It's just fun to use. Yeah, exactly.

29:29Any other skincare, Jill? Oh my gosh. I have so much skincare. Well, of course we use it every day. That makes sense. I, if you, if I want to shout out a cleanser and I actually think Anas should get this, she would like it. It's the Tatcha the Rice Wash. Okay. And this is not new, but it's something that I've emptied multiple times over. And of course, this year I have as well. It's a soft cream cleanser that has rice kernicles in it, not even beads, but just there's rice in it. Yeah. And it's just the most gentle exfoliating cleanser I've ever used. It's kind of like if Dermalogica Microfoliant was like in a cleanser.

30:06I can't believe they've never done that. They should do that. Yes, absolutely. And yes, it's 40 US dollars, 54 in Canada. It's just that gentle everyday exfoliation. It's got hyaluronic acid in there and red algae and Japanese rice powder, pH neutral amino acid base that it's in. So it really is exfoliating, but does not strip the skin. And that's why it's empty. And on that note over there, I've got another little purple jar. I can't quit you. It's the dewy skin cream from Tatcha. It's the number one selling moisturizer at Sephora. We know that. And I think it's$90. And I've emptied multiple of them.

30:43And I actually did some Instagram stories during the Sephora sale a few weeks ago. And I had this and I said, epic moisturizer. And somebody in my DMs was saying, well, you can use that because I listen to the podcast and I feel like you have always skin like me. And I was like, in the winter, Yes, I can. And it doesn't have any pore clogging ingredients in there. And it just gives you the best, best winter glow under makeup love. Yeah. And we also have an episode in our archives with Vicky Tsai, the founder of Tatcha. And so if you want to learn all about the Japanese cleansing rituals and the inspiration, that's another golden episode to listen to.

31:23I love it. And then just continuing on the skincare train, I have to tell you my favorite sunscreen of the year. The Skin 1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalur Sika WaterFit Sunscreen SPF 50. Yes, we've mentioned this product in the past. Of course we have. It's$19 in the US,$24 in Canada. The price point is so good. You don't even need a Black Friday sale. And I just love this product because why pay more honestly this is the thing about the korean sunscreens yeah and it just goes on like an emulsion like so thin and i wear this under makeup all the time it's empty i i would buy it but i just got sent i'm so excited the beauty of jose on yeah and so i am really excited to try that one which is also supposed to be the bomb and in fact they sent me quite a few products so I will report back with my personal review of those.

32:21Yeah, I've emptied this skin 10041. I think the first time I talked about it was maybe one of our Amazon Prime episodes. Yeah, they do have it on Amazon Prime. And if you want a deal, that is the place to get it. And I'm going to also be updating our Amazon storefront. I forgot to mention that. Amazing. So like the Tear Tear Foundation, all these viral products that are$19, but like, why not get 10 % off them or 20 % off? Yeah, for sure. For sure. So that one's just a hit, hit, hit, hit all the way. Yeah, it's so great. It really is. Now, this is sort of like a hybrid between skincare and makeup.

32:53But I have emptied two of these. It's the Tower 28 Sunny Days Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen. $32 US and$44 in Canada. It comes in 13 shades. And what I like about this product so much is that it's one of those like tinted moisturizers, but it's not as light as some of the ones that have been so popular, you know, like the Atelier Westman and stuff. Those to me are, it's just, there's no coverage. There's no coverage at all. Whereas I find this is truly more like the old school tinted moisturizer where you're getting a decent amount of coverage, but it does blend in really, really well.

33:35adjacent to the It Cosmetics, I would say, for not quite as much coverage. Yeah, no, not as much coverage. But I would say it's like the Ilia one. They have 13 shades. It's one of those things where I feel like a lot of brands when they're doing tinted moisturizers, they feel like they don't need as many because you're not getting that full coverage. I'm not saying that's right. But I know we had an in-depth conversation with Amy Liu when we had her on the podcast about she had been very diligent about testing it. There was a makeup artist that actually helped. Was it Kieran? Yeah. Kieran Batty, who helped her develop them to make sure that even though there were 13 shades, there was a good like cross section.

34:16Yeah. They have a deep shade as well. Yeah. But yeah, I find for my skin and I am quite pale, but I have I've emptied two of these. I just love that it has SPF in it as well. So it's just giving me that extra coverage without looking chalky. Yeah. And the whole thing about the brand is that it's eczema-sensitive skin. Yeah. What's the word? It's like for eczema-prone skin, it's safe. Like they're testing their makeup to make sure it's safe for sensitive, like extremely sensitive skin. Yeah. The Eczema Society has given it a checkmark. And by the way, everyone, I know sometimes we say eczema, sometimes we say eczema.

34:53It's just our Canadian. Yeah. We say eczema in Canada and in the U.S. y 'all say eczema. Yeah. And people think we don't know why. That explains that. So yeah, that's another goodie that I've emptied two of them. What about you, Jill? Do you have any makeup that you have emptied this year? I do. One thing I don't have in front of me, but I've just hit pan like a day ago. It's not fully empty, but I hit pan is the Makeup by Mario Transforming Skin Enhancer. I cannot be without that product now. I'm obsessed. it is amazing for like bronzing all year round contouring soft contour that brush that he created with it I believe it's called the f4 is absolute magic it's a powder no it's the skin transforming cancer it's in a compact but it's a like a cream it's a creamy it's like like a cream to powder okay it goes on like a cream okay and patty dubroff raved about it on our show and then I I finally got my hands on the right shade and I've absolutely hit pan.

35:58It is such a unique product. Everybody needs to get this in their makeup bag. What makes it unique? It's that it's so layerable. And the way that Makeup by Mario actually uses it is as a finishing product. So he will like, when I went to his masterclass and he was doing a face, he's like powdering at every step. Right. But so he powders the face and then he puts this skin enhancer on at the end. And because it's a cream, it kind of sticks to the powder on the face, but not in a way that's, it's not cakey. That sounds bad, but it's not. It just is meant to sort of like be like a finishing step.

36:36But you can use it as a bronzer too if you choose. But because a lot of people don't know how to use it because it says skin enhancer. Right. And it's like, what is that? Exactly. But I've been using it like at the end after I powder and like along the temples, along the forehead, a little sculpting along the cheek, the jawline. And he has like three makeup products, three bronzing products in that sculpting line. And if you were to talk about level of snatch, that is the least level. That's the lowest level of snatch is the Skin Transformer. Got it. Okay. Just so everybody knows, it's$32 US, 44 in Canada with six shades.

37:14Yes. It's a dreamy, dreamy product. Well, I also have emptied my Say Glowy Super Gel, which I know I've talked about a million times. But I think that's just a testament to how much I truly love it. So this is the shade Sun Glow. And it is$28 US,$42 in Canada. And this is like a liquid version kind of of what you're talking about. You can use it all over or you can use it just to contour. So I use it just to contour. It's a bronzer. So I don't know how you want to classify that. But that's essentially what it is. But I like that it has a bit of a cool tone to it. And as I've mentioned in the past, I think that's everything when it comes to contouring.

38:00I hate when people serve up contour products that are in bronzy tones, meaning it's more warm because there really are two different uses. So I think that's part of the reason why I love this one so much. This one is very fresh feeling. It really is like a gel. So I just find it blends into my skin really well with like there literally can be no chance of caking. So that's why I love that one so much. And I've emptied it so many times. And I need another one, actually. Yeah. And is it on sale? I wonder. Probably with Sephora. Yeah, I would say probably with Sephora. And again, we'll link to the best deal we can find.

38:37Agree. And I think that they had a really cute gift set with the duo of those two glowy super gels. Yeah, like minis. Yeah. Yeah. I need that for travel. What other makeup do you have, Jill? Okay, I want to talk really quickly about the Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez, of course. The All of the Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick. It's$22 US,$31 in Canada. So this is an all-over eyeshadow stick. As you can see, I've used it down to the quick. Normally, I just have to say with Rare Beauty, their performance is something that's kind of shockingly good. Agree. For this price point and for this brand. And frankly, it doesn't have to be this good.

39:19It could just rely on her name. Yeah. I'll be honest. But I think that's what gives you the repurchases when it's really good. People will try it, maybe a celebrity brand out of curiosity. But if it's not good, nobody's going to rebuy it. Have you tried this? Any of these? I believe that I have. I prefer matte ones. So I'll give the people who like matte a suggestion after. Yeah, this one's super creamy. and it is kind of like not full shimmer, but there is light reflectiveness to it. And I just think it's so pretty on the eyelid. If you don't want to like wear a ton of eye makeup, but you just want to have a little something, this is amazing.

39:57It does not crease. It does not move. And I have the oiliest eyelids known to man and it has multi-dimensional pearls. That's how they phrase it. And it's a water resistant gel. So I think that that's where you're getting that performance. and there's a little, it's a twist up crayon and there's a little sharpener that comes in the end as well. So it has a lot of function as well. And I'm just obsessed with it. It's that kind of thing that even if you're not good at doing eye makeup, you can swipe this on, it'll still look really pretty. And there's like six shades. I use products like that all the time.

40:31I'm basically done with palettes. I really am. And so all I use is eyeshadow sticks. Well, you've got so much more real estate now. No, you could be. I don't think you should write off palettes just yet. Well, OK, but I just prefer the ease of an eyeshadow stick because I don't like to wash my brushes. So I use an eyeshadow stick. I'm lazy slash busy. And then I just use my finger to rub it in. That's literally what I did today. I've seen a lot of these sticks out there, but not a lot of well done matte versions. Yeah. And so I really like the Victoria Beckham Eyewear Longwear eyeshadow stick.

41:05They have a few matte shades that I use all the time. They have caramel, they have trench, they have pecan, which are all like various shades of brown matte. So if you guys are out there looking for that, highly recommend. More expensive though, 47 US dollars. Right. And we do have a code with Victoria Beckham. So we'll link to that on our website. For all you naughty people who fast forward through our ads. Yeah. So those are really good. And we will link to those. They also, by the way, have a really fun like sky blue that's matte and even the sunflower yellow, which I've tried and they actually do look good.

41:42Okay. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. But what about the performance on those? They're long wear and I find that they do last throughout the day. So is that it for makeup? Do you have a mascara you've emptied or what else? Okay. Well, again, I'm a lazy slash busy girl. I have I've emptied one of these Chanel Le Beige water fresh tints and one of them is halfway empty. It's$70 US, 89 in Canada. This one comes in eight shades. This truly is better for summer wear because it's a it is a really light consistency. But I love like the water kind of gel formula feels so refreshing. I prefer it to like almost every other formula is more like a just like a cream, like an oil.

42:28So I just think this one is so unique and it's like what my skin craves. I wish I could wear it in the winter, but I need more coverage, but I love it in the summer. Yeah. The dupe that I talked about earlier this year, the CoverGirl one is actually very good. And in terms of the finish it gives your skin, I wouldn't say it's as elegant to put on. Right. But for a fraction of the price, it's like it's the idea. Yeah. I need to try it. I actually never tried that one. Yeah. I do want to try it, but I know it has more coverage than this Chanel Le Beige Water Fresh tent. The CoverGirl one definitely has that simply ageless hook where it's a slight bit more skincare in there.

43:09So you're also getting the niacinamide and the brightening over time where Chanel, it's just French girl in a bottle. Which is fine. Some people don't want niacinamide in their makeup. This is just the French girl way. Yeah, exactly. I'm going to talk really quickly about a couple of mascaras. Okay, yeah, of course. My favorite one that I tried the whole year and I emptied multiple of them. It's hard to show an empty of a mascara, but I did. It's like dust in here at this point, but it's the L 'Oreal Paris Voluminous washable panorama mascara. Now, I fell in love with this at the beginning of the year to the point where I was getting confused if this was new this year or if it was another year, but it is new this year.

43:47It was the first campaign that Kendall Jenner did. It's like$17 in Canada, like around$15 in the U.S. But I just love the wear that I get out of this. There's absolutely no smudging. I'm obsessed. And it's washable. Yeah. So it comes off really, really easily. And it's part of the L 'Oreal Voluminous family, which L 'Oreal Voluminous, that's still the mascara, makeup of Mario's. Yeah. I remember I talked about that. I'm pretty sure when it first came out. Drugstore episode earlier this year. Yeah. Love it. Because it is washable. And even though it gives you this like great performance, it comes off really easy, which is so wonderful.

44:24And it's got like a cone-shaped brush. And I just love how you can reach each and every lash. It's maybe not, I would say it's not as voluminous as your OG voluminous. Yeah. But it gives me better wear. Like it doesn't smudge at all. Right. So that is for me, because I have a lot of lashes, that's an okay trade off. Yeah. And then, of course, it's black is black. Why do they make any other colors of mascara? And then my other one that I love, but it's probably it's about double the price, is the Milk Makeup Cush High Roll Mascara. I've emptied a couple of these as well. See, I found that one transferred on me.

44:58I trashed that. No, it's tubing and I have it on today. I get so many compliments. Oh, okay. Weird. Weird. Yeah. Yeah. I love that one too. But, you know, mascara is one of the most personal things, right? So it's going to be a holy grail for me. Maybe not for you, but, you know, to each their own. Yeah. I'm going to give you one last one for myself before we go. Speaking of L 'Oreal, this is the L 'Oreal Everpure Sulfate-Free Restore Conditioner. This is designed for hard water exposure. It is$9.99 U.S. and$14.99 in Canada. And this is going to be another empty, you know, low-key reco from my daughter.

45:39My daughter has really long hair. Did you just go in your shower and look at all the squished up bottles? Well, this one is empty. But I asked her, I said, what do you what have you used? Yeah, that you that's like empty and you miss it and you want another one. And she she literally pointed to this one and said that conditioner is so good. And my hair is just not the same since I stopped using it. I was like, really? Considering all of the shampoos and conditioners that I give her, I think that really does say something. And so she has really long hair now. You haven't seen her in a while. It's down to her waist.

46:15So yeah, it can get tangled if she's not using, you know, the right stuff. But this really got me thinking about whether we have hard water in our house because I was like, what makes this one so special versus the other ones? And that's what it's designed for. And I do find often when I travel, my hair is better when I wash it like in New York or whatnot. So I was like, interesting. So now I want to try it for myself. I want it because this was in her bathroom and I'm like, oh, geez, I need to try that. And it also reminded me of a guest who was recently on our show, Abby Young, who is a trichologist slash hair influencer.

46:53And she is a huge fan of the L 'Oreal shampoos and conditioners, especially the Everpure. Yeah. So I just was like, oh, ding and ding. Yeah. Yeah. It's great. Well, first of all, speaking of hair, both of us need to mention that we have an empty way detox shampoo on the table. Ride or die. Yeah. We both brought that. We did not talk to each other beforehand. Yeah, that's right. We hinted at it at the beginning of the show. So that's the product that we both have on empty. Yes, they're an advertiser, but yes, we use it all the way down to the bottom. It's so good. And, you know, of course, that's for the reset.

47:29So when I've used too much dry shampoo, when I've used too much like heavy conditioners, the detox shampoo just comes into the rescue. I feel like my hair is so super clean, but not stripped. It's my favorite of all the way products. And I know it's yours, too. It's so great. And I love that. Right now, I'm really leaning on the leave-in conditioner from them as well, because my hair gets really fly away and in this time of year and it really helps with that our code is by the way beauty 15 for 15 off at the way.com if you're ever interested and again we will link to that in the show notes and the final product that I want to show to Carlene and I believe last year in our 2023 end of year show Robin mentioned this our guest girl boss town and this is so then I called it in and You have a good memory.

48:20For some things. This is the Topicals High Roller Ingrown Hair Tonic with AHA and BHA. $26 US dollars,$35 in Canada, worth every damn penny. This is my, I've emptied, I think, two of these now. If you have any bumps, ingrown hairs, it's absolute magic. If you have a guy in your life, I know that it works wonders on like the chin, the neck area. If you get any ingrowns there, you can put it on your face. You can put it anywhere on your body. And I know some people who've gotten blemishes in areas that maybe they would rather not talk about. Maybe their butt cheeks or their back. This is incredible for that.

49:00And because it's a rollerball application. So easy. It's like so easy. Now, I've heard about this product so many times. So I may have mentioned it earlier this year, but I just wanted to shout it out as an empty because it's kind of hard to empty body products. Yeah. No, that's great. I love it. It's such a useful like problem solution item. Exactly. We love those. Absolutely. Well, thank you everyone for listening to our empties episode today. Hopefully somewhere in here you found some great gift ideas for holiday. I know that some of you were wanting more after our holiday gift guide.
