In short
Stassi Schroeder-Klark discusses her return to reality TV with Hulu/Freeform’s House of Stassi, plus body image and beauty “marinating in your uglies,” her GLP-1 and cosmetic-treatment views, and the practical costs and routines behind getting red-carpet ready.
Guest background
Stassi is a three-time New York Times bestselling author and reality TV personality known for Vanderpump Rules; she also hosts Stassi with Tay and has nearly four million social followers. She’s a mom of two and stars with family and former VPR castmates on her new show.
Key claims
She says she’s never camera-aware and naturally performs; she “bounces back” by processing emotions quickly and then pivoting to gratitude. For beauty prep, she intentionally accepts temporary “uglies” (pale/bloated/thinner hair) before events, then uses Botox, spray tan, lash/brow services, EMS, and lymphatic drainage. She’s nonjudgmental about GLP-1 and frames it like Botox—people should do what they want.
Notable examples
She describes a “Nefertiti neck lift” Botox approach, EMS “electric muscle stimulation” done at home by a provider, and a CO2/silphur microneedling laser treatment that left her “hit by a bus” red for a week (repeated three times). She recounts postpartum scale anxiety (70 pounds with Hartford; scale-free approach with Messer). She also cites a red-carpet glam cost example of about $23K for one event and her DIY fallback using Estée Lauder Double Wear.

0:08Welcome to Breaking Beauty, the podcast all about the breakthrough people, products and moments in beauty. We're your hosts, Jill Dunn and Carlene Higgins.
0:21Hello, pod fam. Welcome back to another episode of Breaking Beauty podcast, the podcast all about the breakthrough people, products and moments in beauty. I'm Jill Dunn, one of your co-hosts. And I'm Carlene Higgins. And we are two longtime beauty editors turned beauty podcasters. And every Wednesday for nine years now, we've brought you the conversations with the founders, artists, and tastemakers that are moving the beauty industry forward. And we're like 450 episodes deep at this point. We have in our back catalog chats with Haley Bieber, Bobby Brown, Makeup by Mario, Dr. Shereen Idris, and many more.
0:57And today we are adding a very influential beauty name to our roster, and that is Stassi Schroeder-Klarke. Hi, Stassi. Hi. Influential in the beauty series? Yes. Okay. Yes. Thank you. I think you've been on a few Pinterest boards. I do. Oh, my God. And Stassi is a three-time New York Times bestselling author and one of reality television's defining personalities. We all know that. But if you're listening and nodding your head right now, you know Stassi from her era-defining run on Bravo's Vanderpump Rules. And more recently as a special VIP guest at Vanderpump Villa on Hulu and from the reunion she hosted for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
1:38All of that. And she's a host of Stassi with Tay Podcast. And she has nearly four million fans following her every move as a mom of two on social media. And this week, Stassi returns to our screens. Thank God. And it's her ninth unscripted TV series. It's called The House of Stassi. It's on Hulu and Freeform, and it's officially described as, and I quote, Stassi stepping back into the spotlight to redefine her place in pop culture. But staying on top means confronting the ghosts of her past in a chaotic inner circle with a talent for disrupting her life. And in short, Stassi is the captain now.
2:16What a great description, whoever came up with that, I will say.
2:20Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah, I didn't write it, but I definitely approved it and applauded it. Yeah, yeah. Well done. Well done. The show promises to see immediate family members like husband Bo Clark, plus a reunion with VPR besties Katie Maloney, Christina, Kelly, and pals like Dear Media's own Taylor Strecker. So in our conversation today, we're diving into body image, self-tanner truth bombs with Stassi, and of course, what drama we can expect from her upcoming series. And of course, be sure to watch this episode on our YouTube channel, which is a Breaking Beauty podcast. So thank you, Stassi, for being here. Thank you for that amazing introduction.
2:58Stassi Schroeder Clark:God, I always feel so official and cool when people do that. Thank you. Of course. I mean, you're a reality television veteran, truly. No, I really am. But you spent like more of your time probably on camera than off. I'm not joking because I started when I was 16 on Amazing Race. So like I'm about to be 38. that's 22 years. Yes. That's insane. Yes. So more time spent on camera than off. Yeah. Unbelievable. So what was the internal conversation getting back into reality television? Because you took a bit of a break, right? Listen, my own show was always the goal. Yeah. Even like when Vanderpump Rules fell in my lap, which like it did.
3:39I was working at Sir Restaurant and that fell in my lap. And it was never going to end there for me. Like, I have a lot of ambition and dreams. And this was always something that I was like, I want to accomplish this one day. This time around, it was just finding the right people to work with. And that's what we did. And it's been so f***ing cool. Yeah. It sounds like you got bit by the bug. The reality bug? Yeah, exactly. I was bit when I was 16. So it's like, I blame my dad. He put me on that show. And like then it's like he's like he started my destiny. And, you know, once I realized that, you know, not everyone, I guess, can be good at reality TV.
4:24Definitely not. A lot of people are really aware of the cameras. Yeah. I have never been aware of them. Right. I can't ever remember a time where I overthought it or I was just I don't know. It just feels so natural for me to just be myself and do my thing. And then like spiral after. Right. Like trust because I do spiral. I like spiral once like a season is wrapped and I'm like, what have I done? Right. What did I say? What did I do? But not while the cameras are there. What I found has been really fun, Stassi, is seeing you on this tour with all these Hulu girlies. I feel like you're getting this little girl gang going.
5:00It's like Brooke Snader, Mary Hollander, right? Mary Holland. Yeah, Holland. Sorry. Just Jessie. I only know the handles. There's a lot of them. There's the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives girls. Yes. You know, Hulu's doing a really great job of creating its own reality universe. And I'm having a really great time with all of the other girls that are on there doing it with me. Now I can't say I have to say secret lives of Mormon wives. Secret lives of Mormon wives. But she's not filming. It's so good. Oh, my God.
5:36Stassi Schroeder Clark:We need to stop talking about him. I know. It's like I can't stop. But it's just too funny, too easy to make fun of. I know. I just don't care about dad talk. And you were the first to say it. I know. You're like, why do we why are they coming? Yes. Literally. I know. Yeah. It's been fun to watch. I know that you were you're working with some former VPR besties on the show. How did you sort of like pick who you wanted to work with? Well, you know, Christina Kelly has been a constant in my life for the last like 20 years of my life. Just we were like girlfriends from like back during our party animal like days.
6:07And so she got me the job at Sir, which then in turn, like Vanderpump Rules fell into my lap. And she's been one of my best friends ever since. So it was like a no brainer. And then Katie and I, you know, we were best friends for a really long time. And post covid, we had a up and down relationship. And when I got the show Greenlit, I was like, you know, it would make sense having my like bestie from reality TV, like back with me again. and to like really hash out all of the stuff. Because when you're not on reality TV, you so easily can just like sweep things under the rug. You don't have to have like those uncomfortable conversations if you're going through a lull in your friendship or you're feeling a certain way.
6:53Like there's nothing to really hold you accountable. But when you're on a reality show, you're forced to have all those conversations. And I was just like, Katie, we're going to have these conversations and we're going to do this here. And the show, we really like try it. and break the fourth wall a lot. It's like kind of meta because we talk about what it means for her to be joining my show. Like, we don't want to pretend like that's not a thing. Right. So it's like nothing that I've ever seen before.
7:24Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. And I hope everyone loves it as much as I do. I'm excited because Katie and you had the realist friendship from day one. Like in season one, she's just like, I'm not going to tell you what you want to hear. Yes. Which also she was so wrong for that. I needed support. But I was like, there's going to be no filter between Katie and Stassi. And she is exactly still that same person. Yeah. Yes. Okay, good. Carleen mentioned you pulled back a little bit like in 2020. And a lot of people can relate to sort of when your life takes a turn and you're not necessarily expecting it. So I'm so curious.
8:00Are you the type of person when things don't go as planned? And do you like lean into self-care and you're like, I'm going to take a bath and like you relax and just sort of how do you take care of yourself when things aren't going according to plan? Actually, I'm really good at like a conflict situation or like or when things go to shit. Like I really I actually am able to like bounce back pretty quickly. I let myself really go through those feelings of like emotions quickly, like anger quickly, sadness quickly. And then it's like, OK, let's focus on the positive things now. What what am I grateful for?
8:41What am I happy about? What's going well? And like, where can we go from here? How do we pivot? And I really don't like have time for like the the self-care part. I self-care all the time. Not when I'm like, not like in a moment, you know, where you feel like you spiraling. Like I'm my self-care is like locking myself in the room, in my room and watching a period piece for a couple hours. Like, yeah, that's all I need. I need alone time. Right. To just feel recharged. And sometimes that alone time ends up being like just when I'm doing my makeup in the morning or like a car ride. I love driving my car by myself.
9:18You do. Yes. It's just like okay like that is like time for me to recharge yeah yeah um what's on the radio what's on the
9:27Stassi Schroeder Clark:radio or what are you listening to you know i i i'm a big fan of the toast oh yeah like religiously listen to them yeah they're like normally like my friends in the car with me yeah they're their voices along for the ride i was gonna say what's the period piece because i'm with you on that one that's more like the t that's my tv jam okay well i've seen every single one so which what are you watching right now. I do watch Bridgerton, even though I know it's not authentic. That's divisive. I feel like that one. Not every period piece needs to be historically accurate. Like, yeah, some can be fanciful and fun.
10:02Yeah. Like that. I love that. I love Bridgerton. Yeah. That's my ringtone. Oh, my gosh. Hilarious. I watch a lot of like British shows like PBS Masterpiece. Yeah. like that you know downtown abbey oh i binged that i just finished it i just finished season one last weekend and i i had a problem i kind of talked to carlene about this briefly about iphone face like the guy is a little too hot for the era okay i get you know what i'm saying i
10:31Stassi Schroeder Clark:understand what you're saying i don't have a problem with iphone face because i just like hot people so like you know like i'm fine with it yeah um but that was a really good one that's a good one. Yes. Everyone needs to go watch that. Tonight right now is the like series finale of Outlander. And I'm having like a. Oh, interesting. You know, it's it's it's like a day of death. Yeah. It's it's a day of death. OK. And that's like when you're reading a really good book and you're sad for it to be over. Yeah, I get that. I relate to that as well. Is Wuthering Heights good or not? Oh, yes. Yeah. Yes.
11:05It's like it's it's kind of like alternative and it's different, but like still still a period piece. That's my plane ride movie.
11:14Stassi Schroeder Clark:I don't know if that. Uh oh. I feel weird watching anything that has like anything sexual in it on a plane. Like I was just I put on The Great, which I'd already watched before. I've already seen it. But like there's like not even that many sex scenes. But I was like, I have to put my iPad away. The people are going to walk past me and they're going to think I'm a weirdo. I'm like, OK, I guess I'm just going to listen to my phone like I can't do this. I get really weird about that. But you know what? You do you. OK. Yeah, you've got to watch The Great. It's so good. Elle Fanning. I understand that you're from New Orleans.
11:49I am. New Orleans. New Orleans. What's the most New Orleans thing about you still? Oh, I'm spooky. Really? Yeah. I love I love anything creepy, haunted, like dark, moody. I just, you know, I love a haunted house. Yeah. Like I love a cemetery. I think that's very New Orleans of me. My sister is the same way because my sister and I, and she's also on the show, my show, House of Stassi. She's a huge player in that show. And we often wonder this because like we have nothing in common. My sister and I are not alike at all except for our love of spooky things. And we are just like, it has to be because we're from New Orleans.
12:29Yeah.
12:29Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. And do you get visits? I wish I did. I do not. You don't. Does she? No. Oh, interesting. Yeah. It's like really annoying. I mean, we do do the Ouija board and it works for us. Yeah. So like it works for us, but like no ghosts have been hanging around me. I've never seen a ghost in my life. Will you come back on our show and we Ouija together? Absolutely. Okay. Yeah. That would be so fun. Yes. Let's do it. I can make, I make them. Technically. I mean, I do have a heart out at noon, but. Okay. All right. Let's keep going. I want to ask you specifically about the beauty vibes from New Orleans because it's a very the southern beauty vibe is so specific.
13:09So I was in growing up and like in high school, I did not fit. Now, when I say I didn't fit in, I wasn't. It's not like, oh, poor me. I didn't fit in. I didn't try to write with like the way everyone did their makeup, hair, dressed like the aesthetic of like the southern girl, especially like the New Orleans southern girl, I would imagine is like different than another a different New Orleans is very specific part of the sound. I was so into Hollywood. Yeah. I was so into L.A. I looked up to like so many different movie stars. Yeah. That like I did my own thing. Like I didn't follow any Southern beauty trends.
13:52You weren't doing a roller set. No. So like I was like looking at first, like I really was into being a redhead for a while. So like freshman year, I dyed my hair red. That didn't work. Then I like became obsessed with Angelina Jolie in Ava Green. And I thought that like I had to have my hair black and live Tyler. And so like that was like going to be my aesthetic. And that was who I was going to be. And I was going to be like dark and cool. And then I kind of like found myself when I moved to L.A. So like I never
14:22Stassi Schroeder Clark:actually had any. Yeah, there was nothing Southern about like the beauty trends that I followed. What about this concept you talked about on TikTok, marinating in your uglies for a few days? You don't do that. I'm going to do it this weekend. Oh, it's amazing. I do. But I didn't know it was like a thing. I didn't like when I know that I have to be like really hot for something. Like I know that I have to be ugly for a while. OK. Leading up to it. Like I'm just my hair is going to be really thin. Like just my Botox might not be like Botoxing. I'm going to be pale. I'm going to feel bloated. Like it's just I'm not going to.
15:00And I'm going to marinate in that. And I'm like, OK, it's fine. It's fine. It's fine. Because soon I will come out of my cocoon for the thing I need to be hot for. Right. And then all the elements will come together. Sure enough. And it works. Yeah. It's like black swan, white swan. Tell us about when you emerged out of your uglies and you got prepped for the show. What did you do? Like, don't don't hold back. Tell us everything.
15:23Stassi Schroeder Clark:Okay, so obviously Botox. Okay, but I also get it in the neck and I get it in my traps. Barbie Tux. And it's like called the Nefertiti neck lift. Oh, yes. And it just like really snatches everything. I get my eyebrows laminated. I get my lashes lifted and tinted. I get a spray tan. I do EMS training. I do lymphatic drainage massages like regularly. Oh, yeah. Wait, what's EMS? Yeah. Oh, that's the only workout I do because I'm a lazy girl. Okay. I don't even know what it is, though. Okay. It's electric muscle stimulation. Oh, okay, okay. So you put on this suit and you work out while this suit is like...
16:06Stassi Schroeder Clark:It's like... Compression? No, it feels like you're being electrocuted. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But it's like... It's... I think... It's stimulating your muscle. It's like your muscles... Contract, kind of. Yes. So like you're working against that. And it's really hard. Like when men do it, they cry like little babies. And that's my workout. Like when it's just a 20 minute session and I'll do it once or twice a week because I just f***ing hate working out. Miranda Kerr said she does this. Something similar. Yeah, we just had her on the pod. She does this like Aslar bike or something. No, before that she was talking about.
16:48But she's like, yeah, it's 20 minutes is supposed to be the equivalent of like a two hour workout. Longer than that. To me, it's the equivalent if I worked out all day long. It is like you and you are so sore for like the whole week after. It's like you never actually get a break from being sore if you just like do it regularly. Oh, wow.
17:06Stassi Schroeder Clark:And do you go somewhere to do this or you have it at home? No, I have someone come to my house. Oh, OK. So they bring they bring this suit and then have a little iPad and then. Oh, wow. Do the thing. Cool. Yeah. And turn it up, turn it down. It's like a lie detector. But yeah. Oh, my gosh. All right. Cool. So that's and the spray tan and lash lift. Yeah. Laminated brows and hair. What do you do with your hair? So I haven't dyed my hair in three years. Yes. Right now I have a halo on. I'm bringing it back. Seasons one and two of Vanderpump Rules. I always wore a halo. So these are hair extension just at the top.
17:44Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. So one of my hairstylists brought it for me today. so this is my first day wearing it it's a really big deal it looks great um i was like i'm like i want to bring the halo back because i feel like oh i'm doing my like when i do like film the show i'm doing my hair by myself so like i need like some help and um yeah this is like yeah it just gives you like a bump right like like more volume at the top string that goes around the back yeah so it's extra full okay but no i haven't dyed my hair in three years and and it's been lovely Yeah. And it saves so much money. Absolutely. And time. Yes.
18:19It looks really good on you. Thank you. And I feel like this is the trend, the moment. Like, Hailey Bieber is kind of like this natural. Can I just say, I feel like I started it.
18:27Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. And it was just like out of wanting to match my daughter. Like, after I got married in Italy, I had like that perfect, like, you know, bridal blonde. Yes. And I was like, I actually, you know, I kind of want to match my daughter. And I was just like, let's take it back down to like my natural hair color. And then I've just like let it grow out ever since. So I started that trend. Always a trendsetter.

21:28It's raw, it's funny, it's honest, and yes, sometimes it's a little awkward. Nothing is off the table because let's be real, if you're not coming together, you're probably falling apart. Join us every week on Come Together, wherever you listen to podcasts.
21:53You do do a lot of red carpets, whether it's like F1 in Miami or like for your show. Carlina and I have been talking kind of incessantly about like the Met Gala and just like the shrinkage, let's say, that's going on. There's just like a double zero energy. Have you been noticing this? Have you? What are your thoughts on it? I am from a time that like we grew up on America's Next Top Model. Yes. And Star Magazine and everyone being like put on those magazines and asked to get on scales. Like I have some deep seated issues that I will never be able to get rid of. To me, this is just like it never left.
22:33It almost feels like it's it never left. Yeah. Or at least it like never left my brain. It will always be like something that I think about. Of course. Of course. I know you've been very open, like talked about like body image after, you know, postpartum and all of that. Oh, my God.
22:48Stassi Schroeder Clark:It's the f***ing worst. Yeah. No, I gained 70 pounds with Hartford. And like that was a really rough. That was rough. I found it fascinating that Kylie Jenner was on a podcast and name check that she was 200 pounds during her pregnancy. And I feel like that was unprompted. She talked about that. And I was like, that's going to help a lot of women. Yeah. Because people are probably, you know, expecting and they're in the bathroom with their scale and spiraling. Right. Spiraling. Yeah. I that those memories are so f***ing vivid and clear to me with both pregnancies of like how I handled them differently.
23:22Yeah. With Hartford, I stepped on the scale every single day and I was panicked every single day. And living like that was just like so, so hard. Yeah. It was really hard. with Messer, I made sure I was like, you're not allowed to have a scale in the house. So it is
23:39Stassi Schroeder Clark:literally just going to be about like whether clothes fit you or not. Yeah. And I had a way better experience. Yeah. That pregnancy. Yeah. Yeah. By the way, I love his name. Messer. It's so good. You're like the only one that likes it. Really? It goes so good. Messer Clark. Are you kidding? Messer Clark. I'll vote for him one day. He's going to be in office. Like honestly. Yeah. I wanted to ask you your opinion on GLP one because we pretty much ask everybody now. It's not going anywhere especially when we come to LA and also there's no judgment here I'm just yeah yeah I don't I really don't have an opinion everyone should just be doing what they want to do yeah honestly like I think it's like kind of crazy that we're even like still talking about it it's just like let everyone go and do their own thing yeah I feel like it's kind of like the Botox conversation now where a lot of people are their interest to speak they're gonna dabble or not dabble.
24:33And I mean, I think everybody's lying if they're not saying they're curious. I can't
24:38Stassi Schroeder Clark:believe there are people that don't dabble in Botox. Yeah. I like that's true. I can't wrap my brain around that. What do you mean? Hartford, she's almost five, which is crazy. No, it is so crazy. And the older she gets, the more I'm like, you are me. I am you. It's weird. Yes. Have you seen these articles where like kids are going into Sephora like earlier and earlier? Like, Yeah. What are your thoughts? Yeah. Wasn't there the whole like drunk elephant? Yeah. Yes. Like craze.
25:09Stassi Schroeder Clark:That every evening we had Beanie Babies. They have drunk elephant skin care. I don't know what it's going to be like in five years when Hartford's 10 or like what the new thing is going to be. And I'm just going to have to like cross that bridge when I get there. But she sits there with me every night and does my skin care with me. Like she lines up my things. So like I don't know that I necessarily like have a bad taste in my mouth when I see these kids like caring about skin care. I kind of think it's also good. Good habits. Yeah. They're teaching like they could be obsessing over like drugs.
25:44So like I really like that's great. You're obsessing over skin care. Yeah. And like I go over what each thing does like with Hartford and like she knows. And I, you know, I hope she's taking care of her skin. I hope she starts doing it next year. Yeah. You know? I feel the same way. And I was saying, like, no shade to anyone. But I felt like everyone who was so against it was actually not a parent. And they're, like, standing up and they're like, how could you do this to children? And us as moms are just like, I don't see the problem. Like, we're just, you know, we're just having fun together.
26:17And if anything, like, bonding. We're just putting serums and lotions on our face so they're moisturized. Yeah. Like, what? Exactly. Yeah. And I don't think moms are putting retinol on their kids. It's just like very basic stuff. Okay. Let's talk about the financial costs of getting red carpet ready. Oh, I love this conversation because it is so expensive and I'm like team Simone.
26:39Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. Like on this, not team Simone in that like I'm giving up, like I'm not giving up. Right. I'm not giving up. I just love that she was so honest and open about it. Yeah. And I'm like, oh, yes. Okay. Yes. I know. I believe for anyone who didn't catch it, the figure that she threw out there was 23K. Yes. Yes. To get ready for one event. Whatever. Yeah. There. So listen, I say no to events sometimes because I'm like, I'm spending too much money on glam lately. You guys like I'm not going to this event. It's it's just like too much. But then I've also found ways to save money for certain red carpet events, whether it's Like I go to a showroom and I pick my, you know, pieces myself.
27:27And like I have the relationships with certain showrooms. Luckily, if I didn't have that, that would suck. I'd have to go buy my own dress. But like so then, OK, I might not use the stylist all the time. I'm pretty good at doing my makeup. Sometimes I'll just do it myself. Hair I'm not that great at. So I'm like, OK, I'll be I'll be paying for hair. But there are there are ways to not spend that much money. but some people aren't good at doing their own makeup. So like they have to. And I understand why that number that she had could be so high because if this event was in another location that required her to film, I mean, sorry, to fly her glam team with her and styling, all of it, it all adds up.
28:06Then they're Ubers and then to and from, so then she gets a bill that's like$22 ,000 or whatever. I'm like, I can absolutely see how that has happened. For sure, for sure. I feel like creatives got very upset about her video. People who are hair and makeup people because they're like, you know, it's it's their work is often hidden and their talent is it's hard to put a dollar figure on a talent. I agree. I agree with that. And they are artists. Like this the makeup that I have today, I schedule my interviews for my own show. Like, you know, the talking head professionals. I schedule it around her, my makeup artist.
28:43because no one can do what she does. No one can do what she does. Should we name Checker? Oh, yeah. Carly Fisher, like, drop her. Drop it. Carly, Carly. No one can do what she does to my face. And so I will move my interviews around her schedule and she deserves all the money in the world. Yeah. That doesn't mean I can always afford it. So sometimes, Carly, I have to do my own makeup. Yeah. You know? Don't be offended, Carly. Let's talk about what you do when you do it yourself, when you DIY. Oh, I'm an Estee Lauder double wear foundation. The new one, too? I have to be because that's the only option.
29:21Did you hoard like the... I did that for the foundation that I loved. I said that I was going to do that and I forgot to. And now I've just gotten so used to the new formula that I'm like, oh, I actually really like it. And I don't remember what the old one was like. Okay. Like, I think it just takes a little more time to build. Yeah. If I remember correctly, like that's kind of the only difference. but like the coverage is still there. Yeah. Like the way that it lasts is still there. Okay. So I swear by Estee Lauder double wear. And then the rest of my makeup routine is like, you know, I'm do eyeshadow.
29:57I do like a lot of bronzer and a lot of blush. And I overline my lips and all the norm. I spike up my eyebrows because like that trend, I can't let it die. I think it just looks really good on my face. It does look good. It does look good. It's very youthful in general for people to have like full brows. That must be what it is. Because people are like, did you get an upper bluff? And I'm like, I thought about it, but no. And I'm like, I think it's because I started just like brushing my eyebrows up. And laminating. That it like changed my face. Yeah. I need to do that.
30:30Stassi Schroeder Clark:Some people on my team are like, that's been done. That's so 2022. Stop doing it. I'm like, no, never. Yeah. I love that about you, though, Stassi, about you're just like, I'm going to do me. I don't care if people are saying I'm basic or I'm in 2016 or whatever. You're like, I'm going to do me and it works for me. Yeah, my palettes are very 2016. Yeah. Now, did you change your palette for your makeup based on your color read? You were talking off the mic about your true summer. Yes. So I did go and buy a bunch of cool toned palettes. Okay. Because I'm like, okay, cool tones. But how does that work when I'm getting spray tan?
31:07So like, I want to be bronzy, but I'm buying cool tone shit. It's very confusing. Yeah, but it's worked out for you. It's working out. Yeah. Did you get the Makeup by Mario cool tone palette? Yes, that's a great one. Yeah. It's nice when it's so clear like that, when it actually says what it is. Is that like the only one out there?
31:24Stassi Schroeder Clark:Because everyone is like, we'll always reference that one. It's possible that Hung Van Gogh with his new line, his eyeshadows are amazing. They're more pigmented than Makeup by Mario's. I know for sure he has two neutral palettes and one of them is called warm. So I guess the other one, get the other one, get the other one. It must be cool. Yeah. But those are gorgeous and a little bit more punch. Highly recommend Selena Gomez's makeup artist. Yeah, look into that. It's really good. And what's the self tan that you like? I love Luna bronze. If I'm doing it myself, I get it like off revolve. Yeah, it's it doesn't smell bad.
32:03Like I like that. They also have like a lotion. So like when I get out of the shower, I just like use it as a lotion to try and like extend my spray tan.
32:10Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. But now I need to check out the one you were talking about. Yeah, the Loving Tan. Loving Tan. Yeah, an Aussie brand. It's a foam and I think it's supposed to go on good. I also want to try, I just ordered Pita's spray. Yes. I just ordered that. I hear really, really good things about it. So I finally was like on TikTok shop and I'm like, I'm just going to do it. And then somebody told me you can put it over your makeup. Oh. So I was like, what? So this is Pita who's on Dancing with the Stars, right? Yes. Yes. She's one of the pro dancers. Yeah. She came out with a self tan line. Okay. Yes.
32:44See, this is where I get outed that I don't watch all the reality television. Dancing with the Stars is this whole other thing. Yeah. There's no real drama there typically. Okay. Okay.
33:00Today's episode is brought to you in part by cowboy cholesterol. Summer is here and apparently so is the bloat. I mean, come on. I was in Montreal with friends and I was so bloated and felt just like inflamed. Even my friends noticed. I just couldn't even have a good time. So as soon as I I got back to my cowboy cholesterol for my gut. It really helps with bloating and indigestion. And of course, once you get your gut fixed, it's like everything else just follows. Skin looks shining and glowy. And Cowboy actually ran a clinical study and 83 % of participants reported improved gut health, 79 % less bloating and inflammation, 72 % improved digestion.
33:42And surprise, 62 % actually felt like they had fuller hair. Amazing. Cowboy cholesterol, if you don't know, it's 100 % made in America. It uses American grass fed cows. And unlike some other cholesterol brands, cowboy is true first day whole cholesterol, which means they're getting those rich, rich bioactives and growth factors. And don't worry, cowboy cholesterol only collects the surplus cholesterol after baby calves have had their fill. It's not processed. It's not stripped down. It's whole, full fat, high in protein, ultimate nutrient density, pretty much the highest quality bovine cholesterol you can buy.
34:22And there's no artificial flavors or fillers. And that cookies and cream flavor they just launched, it's like a milkshake, which I love at three o 'clock because then I'm not reaching for snacks either. So it's just perfect that way. And of course, when you bring stability to your gut with those peptides, those growth factors, your skin just looks amazing. So try the new cookies and cream flavor for yourself for a limited time. Our listeners get up to 25 % off their entire order. Just head to cowboycholestrum.com slash beauty and use code beauty at checkout. 36:47What's the best beauty secret, Stassi, that you've ever taken from Lisa Vanderpump?
36:52Stassi Schroeder Clark:Oh, I don't know that if it's like a secret. It's just like, don't ever leave your house not looking done. Okay. I've already felt like this is something that I already was like. I'm not somebody, I don't leave my house without makeup on. So the marinating stays at home. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Even the marinating, my makeup just doesn't look as good as normal, as it usually does. But I still am putting makeup on every day to leave the house. You just never know who you're going to run into. You never know what the situation is going to be. Lisa is always flawless. She is always done. And I think that that's contributed to how we, like her success, like it's her aesthetic, her branding.
37:36And like when you see her, she's like this like force and just like so regal. And that's something I want to take with me. I want when I when people meet me on just like a day to day, you know, in a normal situation, I want them to be like, oh, I understand why she's so successful. Right. I don't want them to see me looking like shit. Yeah. You know, totally. How did she get a show? You know, like when I see Lisa, I'm like, understood. Yeah. Understand. I understand why you're so successful. What are some beauty mistakes that you've made in the past? There's one that haunts me. This photo always circulates.
38:13OK, I decided to let a makeup artist put false eyelashes underneath my eyes one time. Also, in addition to which is cool for a photo shoot. You want to do some twiggy photo shoot, lean in, make it a vibe. I get it. Not when you're going to BravoCon. Right. Not when you're just going on a red carpet and like talking to people and that photo shows up. Oh, it haunts me. it's so it's awful it's awful and I'm I just like regret that forever yeah cut to everyone looking up that photo right now yeah yeah what about any crash outs you've had that are beauty related like mine was when I got a perm when I was 14 and I tried to like brush it out immediately afterwards and I was like I hated it so much oh yeah a crash out after season two and I had beautiful hair season one and two.
39:07I don't know why I did this. I just decided to let random people cut my hair off, dye my hair. I let Katie Maloney just like put a box blonde on it. Like what the f*** was I thinking? Like, come on. And then after she did that, I was like, I think I want to go like more like platinum. And I was up in Lake Arrowhead staying with my mom. Okay. I don't know if you've ever been to Lake Arrowhead. No. But there you don't go there to get your hair done. Okay. Right. And I went to a salon and just like whoever random was there. And I was like, I'd really like this shade of like, you know, Daenerys Targaryen some shit.
39:44I don't know. Blonde, but like a pretty white blonde. And I left that salon with it was I don't neon white, neon white, gummy. And like it was falling off. It was gummy. She just literally bleached all over my hair and sent me on my way. Like there was no I don't think she ever heard of toner or like anything like that. Like, again, we were in the woods. We were in the mountains. You don't go to the woods. There's no Olaplex there. Yeah, you don't go to the woods to get your hair done. And even then it can take like three visits to the salon, not one or eight hours, you know, to get it there. It was the absolute worst.
40:27and I think, yeah, that was traumatizing. There were a lot of tears. Yeah, yeah. I can see why maybe you're just sticking with your color now for a bit. And the fact that I now see the grays coming out ever since the LA fires. I swear to God, I did not have a gray before the LA fires. I'm not joking. And now I notice them all the time. So I need to keep this natural hair color as long as I still can because there's going to come a time where I'm going to have to start covering the grays. So like, I'm either going to go blonde or put some highlights or like just like cover it. So like I got to be as natural as well as I can.
41:08Absolutely.
41:09Stassi Schroeder Clark:I'm just like so loyal to Bradley Lee. Oh yeah, true, true, true. Yeah, I have my hairstylist that like I can't, I can't. Yeah. I'll never leave him. He's your guy. Well, it looks great. I'm sure people are bringing in pictures of your hair to get this natural look. It's amazing. What about your skin? What's on your top shelf? What's your major issue? Who's your facialist? Okay. Well, I did CO2 and Silphur microneedling and lasers about two years ago. Highly recommend. Although I looked, I couldn't leave the house for a week. You did the CO2, the full face. I will show you the photo of what I looked like, but I'm not showing your camera.
41:46Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. Understood. Wow. So like, if you want me to get it out. Yes. We'll do a reaction. Let's do it. Let's do it. Reaction moment. You don't want to break the internet and post this? that i don't need to be that relatable like no maybe if the co2 laser company was paying you then there's an idea yeah are you ready yes oh okay wow that's yeah you're actually unrecognizable yeah yeah it's it's very red we're gonna give a description it's very red and especially under the eyes, it gets kind of a deeper red and also like swollen. No, hit by a bus. Yeah. Yeah. Hit by a fucking bus and it meets The Hills Have Eyes.
42:32Stassi Schroeder Clark:Yeah. Have you ever seen that movie? Yes. Those creatures? That. Yeah. Wow. Wow. The things we do for beauty. Yeah. Honestly. So then did it like crust over after that? Yeah. And I had to do that three times. Oh my gosh. So I looked like that three times. And was it worth it? Yeah. Look at me. Yeah. You look so smooth. I think I do. So you do it again. So my doctor has been telling me, like, my Botox doctor, again, shout out to Dr. Farouz. Got to give all the shout outs. Yeah. Dr. Jimmy Farouz. He's like, it's time. You need to, like, that was two years ago. Okay. So I will go back. I don't know if I'll do both.
43:07Yeah. Because I actually, my life is so much busier now that, like, I don't have. A downtime. I don't have a week to, like, be not leaving the house.
43:17Stassi Schroeder Clark:Unless it's part of your show. Wait, can I tell you a story? Yes. So after I got this done, like the second time we got a notice in our house, like all throughout the neighborhood, they were like, you have to evacuate on Wednesday, whatever it was, because we're moving the telephone. I live in the hills. We're moving the telephone poles or whatever. There's going to be helicopters everywhere. So like if a telephone pole falls on your house, you die. Like we can't be responsible. So everyone must leave. And I was like, I can't. If I die, I die. My family, I packed my family off. I looked like that.
43:49Stassi Schroeder Clark:So I was like, I can't. And so there were police literally outside of my house, all around. And whenever I got hungry, I had to crawl on the floor so that they didn't see me to my kitchen and then crawl back down, go down. And I just like hid in my bedroom while like all of this was like going on in my house because I refused to let people see me look like that. Yeah. Wow. The true cost of beauty, everybody. Yeah. And what do you use for skincare? Also, you know what I've been doing lately? Have you heard of PRX? No. Okay, so I do go get facials. I go like all over the place. I don't have like one facialist.
44:27But there's a girl at Yumi Lashes who is doing, they are doing PRX. So it's almost, it feels a little bit like microneedling, but it's like a topical. and she like squirts it on your face and then like rubs it and it's that spicy feeling yeah and then um and the next few days i like it's a little bit of like dryness and peeling but like i feel like it makes my skin really glassy and smooth yeah we will find out and we will link to it yeah and um as far as like skincare i'm gonna really annoy you i don't remember like i like i have like my list of seven things. Yeah. And whenever I see they're like running low, I just like Google it and reorder it.
45:10And I'm just realizing right now I don't know what anything
45:13Stassi Schroeder Clark:is called. That's so funny. No proper names. Just you're a visual person. Yes. I have no idea what anything is called. I'm not good at proper names either. I'm I'm completely like that. I remember ideas and I remember what it looks like. I cannot give you the name. Yeah, I get it. Stassi, how come you don't have a beauty line? People must ask you to do this beauty lines out there. Do we need another one? You have a point of view though. That's really nice. I don't think that that is my journey. I don't think that's my passion. There are things that I am, I'm really interested in doing and I would really like thrive and would doing and would excite me.
45:51And as much as like, I would love to like have my own beauty line. I just don't think that's me. I just don't, I don't feel the creative urge. I'm happy with all the products that I already have. yeah it's not like there's something that i'm like i wish there was like this yeah yeah so like i wouldn't you know whereas like people create the thing that they feel like is missing from their own routine i'm like i'm good yeah i've got all my shit it works for me i appreciate that me too there's a lot of it takes a lot of restraint to even realize that when i'm sure people are
46:22Stassi Schroeder Clark:you know coming to you with offers you know it feels weird to be like no because i am an ambitious person and like I like to work of course and make money but like sometimes you just gotta say no yeah yeah there has to be some kind of well it just has to make sense it has to me yes it has to that that to me is what's most important everything has to make sense yeah and I have to like feel like excited and joyful at the thought of like doing yeah that thing you've written some books what are you passionate like what could you see yourself doing it would it be another book or Is there something else you haven't done that you...
46:57You know what I really am like dabbling in and I'm like trying to do my research and I'm planning. I am very passionate about flat shoes. I am a flat scurling. Okay. A ballet flat, a loafer, like a sandal that's flat. Like I hate that I still have to wear heels. Like it drives me crazy. and all of like the really like nice like shoe brands like the flats like I love a Chanel ballet flat really uncomfortable though yeah and like I really would like to move into that space and create something that is just like the shoe that I want to wear yeah the flat that I want to wear 100 % oh I'm into this me too because I hate wearing heels I'm wearing them right now because I'm wearing capris which is like oh my god you know how annoyed I am because the capri trying to soak you and I'm in it.
47:52Like, so like I bought the capris. I did it once. And but I realized, oh, shit, you have to wear heels then. Yeah. So now I'm just like committing every time I wear capris to wearing a heel. Yeah. I accidentally wore capris with my navy blue
48:09Stassi Schroeder Clark:Chanel loafers. And I didn't think too hard about it. And I put it on TikTok and everyone was like, what in the founding father? And I'm like, you are so right. You're so right. You cannot wear a loafer with a capri. And I learned the lesson the hard way. Those TikTok commenters will keep you humble. They're so funny. You know what? It made me realize, like, how am I how am I on camera? Because when I go to the comment section of TikTok, the world is so funny. There are so many funnier people out there that I feel like probably deserve to be on TV because comment sections are like my favorite place to go for a laugh.
48:48Stassi Schroeder Clark:I know. I will be laughing out loud in a room by myself. I was doubled over last night laughing at something that I saw on TikTok. Like they all deserve a round of applause. Some of them like unbelievable. Thank you so much for your time with us today. This has been amazing. I love talking about this sort of stuff.
