0:00The following podcast is a dear media production.

0:07Welcome to Breaking Beauty, the podcast all about the breakthrough people, products, and moments in beauty. We're your hosts, Jill Dunn and Carlene Higgins.

0:20Welcome back to Breaking Beauty podcast, everyone. I'm one of your co-hosts, Jill Dunn, and I'm here alongside Carlene Higgins. Hey, Carlene. Hey, Jill. Of course, if you're a longtime listener, by now you know that we are two longtime magazine beauty editors turned beauty podcasters. If this is your first show, welcome in. And Carleen, why don't you tell them what we normally serve up every Wednesday? Yes, we are talking about the Breakthrough People products and moments in beauty. So we interview founders of skincare brands, makeup brands, you name it. We also speak to the glam makers who help get celebrities ready for the red carpet.

0:59So people like Jen Atkin, Makeup by Mario. We've spoken to influencers and celebrities like Hailey Bieber. And we also have Damn Goods episodes once a month where you and I, Jill, we review the latest products in the market and tell you whether it's hashtag Damn Good or not. Yes. And of course, we're always talking about trends, keeping our fingers on the pulse. And so I love to speak to people like our guest today. And that is Dana Omari Harrell, aka at IG famous by Dana. Now she is one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram because she's really all about truth telling when it comes to cosmetic enhancements, cosmetic surgeries, and sort of pulling back the curtain, I would say, on a lot of celebrities who, in her words, allegedly a lot of times have had work done.

1:55When I talk to my friends about celebrities and how they look, I always say money is the best moisturizer. And I think Dana would agree with that sentiment. I think a lot of people will be familiar with IG famous by Dana on Instagram or TikTok because it's a lot of people's guilty pleasure. This is, you know, this is the content that people are DMing each other and engaging in and passing to one another, even though you might not feel like it's exactly the right thing or PC in this day and age, but it's the reality. People want to know for good and for bad. It's like, I want to know inspiration if I'm thinking about getting a mini facelift of who's got the good work and what I want to avoid.

2:37But I think on the other hand, it's also like you just kind of want to to know. I don't know if it's like it's almost like a psychological thing, like somehow you feel better knowing that, you know, all these people who you idolize every day in Hollywood, that they have had help, that they weren't just like born this way. And so, you know, I think in a way it makes us feel better about ourselves that, you know, everybody's clamoring over their looks, but it's not real. Yeah. And there's just been a proliferation of transformations because I'm going to say the word semaglutides, Ozempics, Wagovis, Monjaros.

3:14Like we can't deny that this is happening all around us. And it started in Hollywood, you know? And so I really appreciate Dana's perspective. And of course, Dana, she currently resides in Houston and she has spent the bulk of her professional career working in hospitals, med spas, and plastic surgery clinics. And she also has a master's in biochemistry and she's a consultant and content creator specializing in plastic surgery, aesthetics and pop culture. And, you know, everything is served up with a side of sass, her own words. And I really think this is very funny about Dana. She calls herself a dinkwad, which is double income, no kids with a dog.

3:52Oh, my gosh. Well, I was I was just so grateful that Dana flew out to us to L.A. to meet up with us specifically to do this interview face to face in our studio. That was just so lovely. And you just have such a better quality conversation when you're face to face. But what I admire about Dana, I would say is that she is ballsy. She is bold. She will call it like she sees it, but she's also very careful to not be negative in her comments. And we're going to talk about that in today's episode is we do ask about how do we feel about commenting on people's bodies and faces? That's something that we dig into because it is something that we like I myself I can say I struggle with like should I even be talking about this or not but on the other hand it's like if I'm talking about it in backdoor DMs then I've got to be honest about that I've got to be authentic and and and keep the conversation going why are we doing this why are we obsessed with this as opposed to like hiding it I actually I don't like that when you know when people are kind of like to like double-sided in that way.

5:00And I think that these conversations are happening all around us. So in today's episode, we're going to go deep on the year's celebrity before and afters, who Dana thinks has had the most dramatic transformation of the year and who has had a transformation that maybe we don't even realize they've had one. The work is that good. We're also going to talk to her a lot about Ozempic, semaglutide, what that means and what the spinoff effect is in plastic surgery and in med spas. And we're also going to speak to her about if there's any sort of behind the scenes cease and desist where people might have come for Dana with her commentary.

5:36And her answer surprised me. Let me tell you. Yeah, exactly. She's also going to talk about what happened when she posted about Taylor Swift's alleged potential transformation. She's also going to reveal which celebrities have slid into her DMs for a surgeon recommendation. Plus, We're looking ahead to 2025 and we get Dana to bring out her crystal ball to see what tweakments and what maybe surgeries will be prevalent next year. And friendly PSA that there is discussion in this episode about weight loss as well as conversations around body image. So just wanted to flag that in advance. So here she is.

8:50Welcome to Breaking Beauty Podcast, Dana. I'm so excited that you're here. First of all, thank you for joining us. I'm so excited to be here. All the way from Houston, baby. Houston. Yes. My master shirt. Yes. With your tank top. So your Instagram handle is at IG famous by Dana. And you yourself have become famous for documenting celebrity alleged blepharoplasties, breast implants, Brazilian butt lifts. So how did this all get started for you? Yeah, so actually my background is in biochemistry and I'm a registered dietitian. I was working in med spas and they just realized I had a really good ability to talk to patients and understand what they were asking for and explaining procedures to them.

9:31And that's how I got started. Okay. And then I realized a lot of people don't know anything about procedures. And part of it was misinformation. Celebrities not telling the truth. And so it was really for me to unload some of that like snarkiness that I couldn't say to the patient. Yeah. Perfect outlet. I think people love your content so much because you're spilling the tea. But there also probably are people who are going to jump into your comments and say like, why are we commenting on other people's bodies or faces or whatever? How do you respond to that? So first of all, I want to say I try my best to always have positive or neutral language only, even if it's a transformation I'm not into or it's not my style.

10:08I avoid anything negative. And I try to stick to this is what they looked like before. This is how it can be changed to look like this. So I come at it from an educational perspective. It is not to embarrass or humiliate anyone by any means. Yeah. Yeah, I love that. And I mean, like, ultimately, you're a fan of cosmetic enhancement, right? I talk about my own. Yeah, because, yeah, it's not here to shame anybody. You're just like, this is more transparency around it. So today we're going to be looking back at the year in celebrity transformations. What do you think really defined the types of transformations that we saw this year?

10:44Was there, I don't want to use the word trend, but was there a commonality that you noticed? Yeah, so I was actually talking about this all last year and then I made the predictions for 2024. for. And part of it is because of semaglutide, like people losing weight. We're seeing people reduce like their breast size. So if they had implants, they're going smaller. If they're getting implants for the first time, they're not going as big or they might just do fat transfer, things like that. And the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, they put out a report every year about the previous year. And this year when they put it out about 2023, they said they called it the ballet body.

11:20So people are going for more natural looking enhancement, but still more enhancement this year and last year than previous years. And so that's, I think 2024 is like more natural looking work. Filler, but less filler. Earlier facelifts, we're seeing people in their thirties getting facelifts for like the first time in general that it's been like a big movement. And I think that's going to keep going into 2025. Wow. Wow. And what do you think about GLP-1 medications. Like how big is this? I don't even know. It is absolutely massive. So I started. Is it like Botox massive? Yes. Bigger, bigger, bigger.

12:00I think bigger. So I started in 2022. In 2021, it was approved. Semaglutide was approved for weight loss. So before that was just a diabetic medication. People still say it's diabetic medication. It's also for weight loss. I'm a dietician, so I got the report June 2021. I'll never forget. And then 2022, I started it because I had COVID weight, and it's been a life changer for me. I've always been about the size before, except for during COVID. I was always thinking about the next meal, like, what am I going to eat next? Or like, I want a little snack. And even now that I'm off of it, I don't have those thoughts anymore.

12:31Interesting. Literally amazing. So we have to lose that. Quieting that food noise people talk about. Yeah. And the effects last, even getting off of it. Not that everyone should get off of it, so people need to stay. And in 2023, I said they're going to come out with retitrutide, and that's coming out in 2025. So it's only going to, I don't know, this monster wave is just, it's still going. We're not even at peak yet. So what is that? It's going to hit on three agonists. So it's a GLP-1, a GIP, and I think it's going to be on glucagon receptors. So it's going to be Munjaro Plus. So if people are listening and they're still not understanding how a GLP-1 medication works, you've been on it.

13:10So what's your personal experience? Like how do you explain it in like 30 seconds? Okay, I also have videos about it too. Yes, exactly. Basically, it makes you feel less hungry, but also works in your brain to reduce cravings. And that's the biggest thing for it. So people are even seeing that they're smoking less, they're drinking less. Other habits like nail biting, binge eating, things like that, separate from just snacking. Yeah, they're saying that it's going to have huge implications potentially for curbing drinking. I would like to see it specifically with drug use, like opioid use coming from Tennessee.

13:44I think that would be an amazing innovation. Yeah, work with it. Never even thought of that. There's got to be some negative side effects. Every medication has side effects. But, you know, you can't. No, definitely talk to your doctor. Some people have worse side effects than others. I didn't. I had nausea just on shot days. The first couple days were bad. But then after that, and then I had constipation for a couple weeks. A little bit bad resolved. and then it was fine. Right. Okay. Interesting. And so the one that you predict will be kind of popping off next year, it's similar in mechanism or it's just targeting three different?

14:20So basically semaglutide acts on one receptor. I see. Yeah. And then Munjaro or terzeptide two, this one's going to hit on three. So it's going to be even stronger than Munjaro and they're predicting fewer side effects. I mean, that's what we're seeing in the studies and it's going to be set to release 2025 by Eli Lilly, the makers of Munjaro. Can we just get a pill already? We do have a pill. Oh, what is that one? It's semanglutide. It's called, it starts with an art, ribelsis. Oh, okay. I always see TV commercials for that. Yeah. It's daily though. Okay. Interesting. Interesting. Oh, right. Yeah.

14:53You got to set your iPhone alarm to take it. The one you mentioned with the Z, is that Zep-bound? Is that what it's called? Yes. Terzapatite is Munjaro Zep-bound. Yeah. There's lots of news coming because apparently one in eight Americans or more than 15 million people have taken semaglutide, which is really astonishing. And in contrast, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there were 9 million people doing neuromodulator injections in the U.S. last year. So it's like way more, like way more. And because if you think about the 9 million injections, that could be like 3 million people getting it done three times in one year.

15:32Right. So it's pretty. So in short, way more people are taking semiglutide. So what do you what do you kind of make of that? I mean, as a dietitian, like it's helping people with their labs. So they're being able to control their diabetes better. We're seeing amazing things for their cholesterol. So overall health effects are amazing. And then, of course, there's the weight loss aspect, which is what I think a lot of people are on it for. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. I mean, the impact it will have on young girls, you know, that remains to be seen. What are some of the spinoff cosmetic treatments we're seeing as a result of, you know, using these types of drugs on masks?

16:10Well, kind of like with the ballet body, we are seeing people like reduce things. So for example, if they had a lot more filler in their face when they're a little fuller, when they're a lot smaller, it can look like they have too much. And so we're seeing people dissolve that or replacing things, breast replacement, breast augmentation replacement, or just even just removing their implants. And then it depending, so people always go, oh, you're going to have excess skin if you lose weight. Not necessarily, depends on your age or genetics and how much weight you lose. But some of these people are losing like 100 pounds.

16:38And so we're seeing a lot of like more, you know, skin reduction and tummy tucks and things like that. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. And what do you as a registered dietitian yourself, what do you make of this whole booming category of wellness supplement brands cropping up to specifically address the side effects of taking Ozempic or semaglutides like nausea, muscle loss? The So Well brand is one that I've seen and founded by a physician. And it's like supplements that you take. But like, do we really need these? What do you think? So when I would talk to patients about supplements, I'm always saying it's just to bridge that gap in nutrition because you're never going to eat everything that you need.

17:17Obviously, when you're on semaglutide or a GLP-1 agonist, you're eating a lot less than you need. So I definitely recommend like a multivitamin, calcium, things like that. But as far as to help with nausea or something, I mean, your doctor can prescribe something if it's that bad. But if it's really, really, really bad, you maybe want to consider should you be on it? Right, right. Or try another one instead of semaglutide or zapatine. Right, right. I think it's, I even see big companies like a GNC, they're now marketing some of their existing products to be like, are you on semaglutide? Then you're experiencing muscle loss or whatever, take this protein powder or something.

17:54So I've even heard like Walmart reported that their sales were down and like they're packaged goods because people aren't buying the snacks. And like, no, I'm serious. Like this is how far reaching the effect is. New York has like smaller menus like, oh, if you want a half a half meal now. Yeah, exactly. On menus, like it's so wild how far reaching it is. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. I know because I've been hearing that that some nutritionists are saying that their clients are like malnourished now as a result or their hair's falling out. Yeah. But that's why you really do need to work on making sure you're eating your protein.

18:31I mean, like working with a dietician is going to only set you up for success with it, especially if you get off of it. But yeah, like to your point, I've even seen gyms and stuff advertised like meet with our dietician and you can do your semaglutide program and our trainer and keep your muscle. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. No, it's changing how marketing is happening because it's affecting so many bottom lines. Right. Right. Right. It's like all the adjacent stuff happening. So powerful. Yeah. I mentioned this before, but what do you make of all the body positivity conversation that's sort of falling apart?

19:04Do you have an opinion on that? So, yes. I mean, I feel like we kind of always knew that a lot of those discussions were either performative or fragile. So like the Victoria's Secret runway show, it kind of feels like they're like, okay, see, we did this. So you can't say anything to us. Right. Because before, six years ago, they did not have any one plus size. Yeah. Sometimes people think body positivity means like they only think of people who look a certain way as body positive instead of it can be you can be short, you can be tall, you can be curvy in this way, not curvy, not have breasts, whatever.

19:40And I think when I look back, like when I was a child, when I was a teenager, we still even with everyone losing weight, we still have more diversity and people are still not as thin. Like when I think about like the 90s models and 2000s models, when I think about being told Drew Barrymore was the fat Charlie's Angels and I look at her then. Quote unquote. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Like the fat one. And 12 year old me was like, oh, yeah, she's the fat one. Right. Never would we say that now. We wouldn't even think that. Right. And so I think even our standard of skinny, even with Ozempic, is not as nearly unhealthy as that heroin sheet.

20:17Right. Thankfully. Right. And we do have more diversity. Mm hmm. Small, small wins. small wins. Just step forward one step back. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.

24:30it's time to go deep on celebrity before and afters which is definitely your forte so who do you think had the most dramatic transformation of the year in 2024 like you had to do a double take and be like, that's them. Lindsay Lohan. Yeah. She looks amazing. And this is a couple years coming. I think she's been working on things for a couple years and things have settled. She looks incredible. She does. Transformation of the year. I've said this. Maybe a decade, a lifetime. I don't know. What's your analysis on what she got done? So I definitely believe she had a facelift. So neck lift, facelift, brow lift, bleph.

25:09But I posted a picture. She has a scar, that one. I'm not even going to say a legend. She had a bluff and she come for me. She wants to say she didn't a nose job. She's always had a small nose, but it looks like when I was looking at the pictures, it was kind of crooked for a little bit. And I don't know if that was like from past, you know, substance use because her younger pictures, it wasn't crooked. And then it was. And then now it's like straight and then better. Or maybe she had a fall. We don't know. Yeah, deviated septum. Yes, deviated septum that happened like five years ago. Yeah, allegedly.

25:40Allegedly. Yes, yes. And then Better Place Filler. Whoever started doing her filler, amazing. Love it. Facelift? Face and neck lift. Face and neck, right. Okay. Yeah. Wow. And I feel like you really see the change in her face shape. And you've done a very detailed video on this. So it's just more defined. It's a bit more diamond-y. Yes, she lifted everything. The chin gives her that point. And then I was talking to a plastic surgeon who told me not to say her name, but she had her buckle fat was just a little bit lower than some people's. And so a lot of times we'll see that with people who have more chip monkey cheeks where it's a little lower.

26:19So she believes it was, she didn't, didn't do her surgery. She believes it was reduced and lifted. So repositioned. And that also gives it that sculpted look. So she would have had a full bandage face at some point, like the whole shabab. Not really. You would be surprised. Really? Yeah. The bandage that goes all the way around your face is usually for 24 hours. Oh, okay. And then it's just bandage here for your facelift and little ones. Yeah. No, I mean, there are surgeons that they'll say a 24-hour facelift. Like you can be at dinner in three days. Wow. No one's seeing the bandages behind her ear.

26:56Wow. I don't know about that. That's wild. So is there somebody that comes to mind when we think of like who had the least noticeable work done unless you're like super trained eye like you. Is there somebody that comes to mind? Anne Hathaway. She looks amazing. I don't know what she's done, but she's done something. Yeah. That's the sign of the best work, right? I would say probably a facelift, but I don't know what else. She's just stunning and amazing. What stands out to you that makes you like impressed with her result? Is it the shape of the face? Is it her nose? It's that I can't tell when she did it.

27:34There's just a moment where I'm like, oh, she did have more skin laxity and a little bit more fullness here, and now she doesn't. And I can't even pinpoint it on a timeline. That's crazy to me. Okay. Yeah. Wow. The level of observation that you have is truly something. What did you make of the Ariana Grande video? This was with Vanity Fair, of course, where she was hooked up to the lie detector test. I know you did a spoof video on it, so it's safe to say you were not convinced. So I learned a lot about lie detectors that I did not know. I did not know anything but what was in movies. And people were like, she's not even hooked up correctly.

28:08Like, it's over her clothes. She's moving too much. She's not answering yes or no questions. So I learned a lot, first of all. It's safe to say it was probably a prop. Right. It was a prop. Second of all, we have eyes. That is not the same face we saw a few years ago, which is totally fine. She likes how she looks. That's the Ariana Grande look. Like, I can't imagine anyone else looking like that. I found it to be really insulting to our intelligence, first of all. And I understand that she's promoting her movie, her musical. But I feel like they could have made it clickbaity while telling the truth.

28:40Like, imagine if she gave us just like a little breadcrumb. Like, I have had my nose done. Even if it was complete bullshit, it's like, well, I broke my nose when I was five. And so I got my nose job like 10 years ago. Yeah. It was crazy to me. And even when she was like, how did you even do that? I'm like, girl, ask your surgeon how they did it. Yeah. And then for her to throw her brother under the bus. I was like, girl. Poor Frankie. She's like, I don't know what surgery is, but he had it. He had it done, though. Yeah. So with her, is it that she's, I don't think she's had a facelift, right?

29:17That's just, I allegedly with Dr. Cowell, she did the ponytail facelift. facelifts when you're young can be to like change the way your face looks when you're older it's usually to rejuvenate like to put things back to where they were right right okay so in your estimation allegedly she's had what done facelift bluff nose job two fillers I can't off the top of my head I can't remember but definitely chin jaw something here yeah yeah wow so that would have been a facelift in the 20s not even in the inner 30s yeah so i fell hadid allegedly also went to dr cow when like i said when you do it younger yeah it just changes the shape of your face and they have like that ethereal like fox fox yeah i think it's threads it's not threads oh interesting it's surgical it's very easy the incisions are placed here you're never going to see the scar and it's just yeah you're pointing kind of like halfway up your crown the incisions are oh my gosh when people think it's just the top part of your head no it literally pulls like from your mid face so like your cheeks up and out and that's when you get that and so moving on kylie jenner do you think she had a facelift i do okay and what are the telltale signs to you when i mean her face it's literally has that lifted look like everything is going up and out Yeah.

30:40And again, for her, I think it's more of just wanting to reposition her face in a different way than it is naturally. Not that she has her laxity or soft tissue that's starting to fall. So do you think she removed fillers when she did that? Would that be part of the process? Yes. Under the knife. So they can remove everything? The surgeon would remove everything and kind of start anew? Yeah, as much as you can. It doesn't have to be completely 100 % gone, but you obviously don't want to do a facelift when you have like a bunch of filler in your cheeks and the process of a facelift, you're moving the soft tissue, but also the skin you're re-draping.

31:17So if you're re-draping it over something and then you just have to keep refilling that one. Right. I think it's really interesting to talk about this because I think people wouldn't assume that a 27-year-old would go for a facelift. Right. And people maybe that are the same age as her and have been getting fillers all up until now. Well, now she's just had a total reset. She's like, I'm done with that look. And now she can kind of go forward with her new look. But if you're not going to get a facelift when you're 27. So what's the recourse? Well, you might, sure. But what's the recourse if you feel like maybe you overdid it with the fillers and you're her age?

31:54Well, every day with fillers, you can just remove them. It's not like your face is going to suddenly fall. It's really not, especially at that age. it's not like, oh, I took my fillers out. Now my face is like, yeah, like deflated. Yeah. It's not like that at all. But with Kylie, it's not that she doesn't have fillers. And usually when you have a facelift, because that's, you know, again, repositioning your soft tissue back to where it's supposed to be or in a different place if you want it. Yeah. But if you lack volume in a place, you're still going to have to fill that. Right. So we'll do fat transfer or filler.

32:22I prefer fat transfer. If you're already doing surgery, might as well do it then with the facelift. Okay. I think that's what she's done and that's more permanent and it doesn't hold on to water like filler can filler can look puffy sometimes but I love filler so this is not to say don't go out but if you have a whole face full of filler it can look puffy yeah so what what would this cost somebody in this day and age to do that kind of like a ponytail lift with the fat transfers or without? So on average in the U.S., about$25 ,000 to$55 ,000 is going to be for a facelift. Dr. Cal's like ponytail facelift that he does, which all sorts of surgeons can do that, but he's the one who trademarked his name, Dr.

33:04Cal's ponytail. I think right now he's at$200 ,000 or$300 ,000. Yeah. So yeah, these celebrity surgeons, Dr. Giacono is charging$400 ,000. Not a fan of his work. Sorry. Yeah. That's Marc Jacobs, facelift guy. That's right. Yeah. Hey, you know. To each their own. Some people do. No, that looks really good. Yeah. You know, there's a lot more that don't look good. Yeah. So and for four hundred thousand dollars. No, thank you. I'll buy a house. Yeah. And so do you think do you like this ponytail facelift aesthetic? Do you how are people going to age with this? Like what more can you say? I mean, they're going to age just normally.

33:41So if your eyes are like lifted and going more upward, it'll start to come down, but it won't be as low as it was if you hadn't done that. So the aging is just normal. For some people, I think it works, especially. So when I look at Bella Hadid, for example, we both have downturned eyes. Like she's Palestinian, she's Arab, I am too. So we typically have downturned eyes. So hers are now lifted up. They look really good on her. So if you don't like that, then that's a good option for you. But I like my downturned eyes. And I think if I were to change it, I would just look more Asian and I'm not trying to look like a completely different ethnicity.

34:15yeah yeah okay yeah fair enough I feel like that is such a good point though too that you really have to go to the right physician because I think you know eyes especially it's not one size fits all and you it's so much about our identity is in our eye shape and our eye look and what we're comfortable with specifically with me so I had a bluff and it's a very subtle bluff because I had very very hooded eyes and a lot of Arabs have very defined eyelids I'm like the only one in my family that doesn't interesting very defined eyelids but the first surgeon that I went to like 10 years ago when I was wanting just a little bit of the hooding gone he was like he wanted to go really like take all the hooding away and to turn my eyes it's called a canthoplasty and turn my eyes so they're not downward so they cut the end and they lift it out yeah it's part of like a the ponytail lift and or can be part of a ponytail lift and I was like I don't want to change my eye shape like I still want to have like my arab looking eyes and I was I was not comfortable with him and then with dr rose is who i went to for my bluff he was like you know we want to keep some of the hooding like that's gonna see i was like yes and we're not going to turn my eyes he was like no why would we do that i was like thank you yeah yeah so reassuring right i also had bluff in may and i feel like i still have my mom's eye shape which is downturned right yeah exactly it looks good which allegedly ariana grande and bella hadith if you look at their old pictures, their eyes were more downturned.

35:39And now they're not just not downturned, they're all the way up. Yeah, absolutely. It's like, well, now they wake up like that, right? That's the idea. And it's not threads. Yeah. What do you think is in it for them to not just cop to it at this point? I think that we put so much stock in natural beauty and that you're just naturally more attractive or whatever it is than regular people. I think the idea that the, you know, the saying like, you're not ugly, you're just poor. The only difference between me and Bella Hadid is money, access, you know, connections. That's all it is. I'm also high.

36:20I'm 5 '4", but like things like that. And so there are a lot of things that are kind of making things more equal and i feel this way about glp1 agonists the people that were the most angry were the people who've never been overweight a day in their life right right the angriest people and i'm like oh my god are you just mad that people it's not going to take away from you yeah yeah thinner if other people get thinner yeah but they acted like it was like this awful thing that was like happening to them and they're like don't you care about your health and this is you don't know what it's going to do like yeah it's going to make people thinner help their labs it's a steady drug for more than 20 years.

36:55Right. Yeah. It's fine. Yeah. It's so interesting. It's so personal. We honestly could do the whole episode about that topic. I know. Bethany Frankel, you were so mean about it. Yeah. Skinny girl. That's not good for her brand. And it's undeniable that 2024 was the year of Taylor Swift. I mean, Aira's tour is winding down. Sad face. I mean, and I'm a huge Swifty. We got some viral beauty moments from her. Her makeup artist finally revealed what lipstick she wore, which was NARS Morocco. And then she wore those like phase it glitter to cheese game. And I noticed that you made a video not long ago, kind of, and it wasn't shady at all.

37:33It was just like, I think this is how she went from looking like this to looking like this. And I was like, Dana's brave because people are going to come for you. Swifties were probably upset. Maybe they weren't. Tell me what the reaction's been like. They were. So I have cultivated a very awesome community. So I have not been getting as bad of comments as I would have maybe a couple years ago. At this point, I think people know what my page is and there'll just be a couple people who say something. But then it'll make it to Reddit or Twitter. And then I'm dragged. Like suddenly, I don't know real aging.

38:07And that's just what happens. And I'm like, we're literally the same age. I'm on October 89, November 89. That's not what happens with aging. I promise you. Get a smaller nose and fuller lips. Like her eyebrow area is completely different. And it looks great. Yeah. I think at one point she got her teeth done recently again as well. I don't know if you noticed that, but. I didn't look at her teeth. Yeah. And you also said boob job. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. She had one already. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly when, but she had really small breast implants. and when she was really, really, really thin, she has said that she was battling an ADHD disorder.

38:50You could see the implant sitting on her chest. Yeah, she wasn't well for a while, I don't think. Right, and then she gained weight and looked very healthy and fuller, but her breasts were still smaller and I think she just went up a size. The way that people were on Twitter, like her ex, formerly known as Twitter, everyone was like, she just gained weight. And I was like, because you can see where she gained weight. She was actually, she's actually, I think, lost some weight since she'd gained some weight. And this is a completely new breast augmentation. And also a surgeon that I know is really good friends with the surgeon who did her breast augmentation.

39:24You heard it here. This is the true insider in front of us right now. Who's the celeb that you've gotten the most blowback about commenting on, maybe from them, their lawyers, whatever? Callie Uchis. So she's a Grammy singer, Grammy award-winning singer. Oh yeah, she bullied me, honestly. I don't know, bullied very easily. She was in my DM saying all sorts of things, very unkind things. And then she had her followers come after me. She was making stories like she said, at the time I was 32, I'm about to be 35. She was like, this woman that's about to push 40, like worried about me, like whisper talking into her stories.

40:07And I was like, I'm not pushing 40 and 32 and you're 29. We would have been in high school together. You would have been a senior. You would have been a sophomore. Like, come on. And she had her entertainment lawyer send me a cease and desist. And I was like, no, like, actually, I would love for us to go to court because then we could subpoena your medical records. And then I can be like, I got it. I got all the tea. But yeah, she was really mean to me on multiple occasions. hey did you take it down the post no no yeah I didn't say anything I literally I was a huge fan I'm no longer a fan my husband and I have a joke like he because he loves her music and I'm like you are a traitor playing music right now but I really do love her music but I started out the post like I love your music I saw you in Houston in 2017 like blah blah and your work is amazing And she was like, what work?

40:58Girl, and it's not, it's not subtle work. It is extremely, it's that South American. I mean, she went to Cali, Columbia to get it done. Yeah, not Medellin. Yeah, I think Cali, Columbia. Right, right, right. Oh, interesting. I like how you were able to pinpoint that. What about, do you get cease and desist a lot? Or like, are you fact checking yourself to such a degree that you can stand by everything you're posting? Yes. So a couple of things. a cease and desist usually I mean you have to do that before you can proceed with like legal stuff but also sometimes it's just like maybe she'll get scared and take it down right and that's usually how I take it because I never say anything like damaging I mean I really don't like I like I said I try to keep it positive or neutral right and really when it comes down to defamation they have to prove that one it's not true two I know it's not true and I said it anyway and three it damaged them in some way, whether it's like destroyed a relationship, they lost money, something happened.

41:56And like that, that's, that puts a lot of onus on them. That is kind of even unfair because like, how are they going to prove that it damaged them? But my thing is like, okay, with Callie, I was like, okay, let's go prove that it's not true. Like I would love to see those medical records, but yeah. And you have to knowingly know it's untrue. Right. Yeah. So you've never really been hit with. Yeah, no. Yeah. Yeah. I've never like just lied and said they had something done that I didn't believe that they had done. Yeah. Yeah.

44:25we've talked a lot about women in hollywood what about men who's had the biggest transformation this year i know last year i believe it was brad pitt is there anyone this year who's caught your eye honestly i haven't been looking at the guys that much brad pitt i think was that not this year was it i think it could have been i'm not really sure early this maybe it was early this year He showed up to like the F1, like formula racing. Yeah. And he just looks. 10 years younger. Yes. Facelift. Amazing facelift. I posted about it. Men are harder because they typically have more subtle surgeries. Even when they get Botox, like working in med spas, they would say, I want to keep these lines.

45:02I just want them to be like less severe. And then also there's like a misogynistic aspects. Like they just don't believe that men have to get anything done to look good and that men just age better. and when we think about men aging better it's not that they don't wrinkle and sag and go gray we just for some reason say that they look more attractive with wrinkles and with women we don't yeah we don't give us that space so I can show obvious work on men and people are like no he just worked out he worked out for his jawline when he's always been thin yeah I was I think in the video I was like Brad Pitt was like born with a six-pack this is not like a workout like weight gain weight loss situations.

45:43Right. Yeah. I mean, I think you're so right. There is such a big conversation to be had about like misogyny that's just baked in or like patriarchy because there's no daddy do over. There's a mommy makeover. Right. Like, you know, dad bods are hot, right? Yeah. Mom bods need to go to the surgeon. Exactly. So it does. I always like to, I do think about that a lot because, you know, it's just, we're just held to a different standard for sure. Right. Yeah. And then like men, like a lot of their stuff ends up being with like their hair loss. Men in Hollywood, they start doing it before you even know that they're losing hair.

46:17Like as soon as they start to see it and they're doing their transplant. So we don't see a lot of stuff like that with women. Like usually it's like, oh, her nose is completely different. Right, right, yeah. Right. I feel like there is some like jaw work going on, that masculinization type of idea. It makes a big difference. It does. And I imagine it can change how they're cast. the types of things that they're cast for, right? There are surgeons here in LA that literally call it like the male model package or the male actor package. And it's like, jawline, make sure your hair is fine. Peck implants.

46:51Wow. Peck implants are huge. Like when I was talking about it, people were like, that sounds crazy. There's no way that men are out here doing it. And I'm like, yes, think about all the men in your life, all the places you've gone and seen men shortlist. And then think about the men in Hollywood. And I know everyone has friends that have six packs and are always in the gym. think about some of their pecs and then Hollywood pecs. Like even if they have like really like meaty, beefy chests, like one is bigger than the other. They're not perfectly square. The shape is like whatever. But then in Hollywood, they have the perfect Kindle.

47:23Yeah. Is there any, are there any big transformations that we may have missed? I'm sure our listeners are loving the tea as well. So is there anything that we're missing from 2024 that is worthy of us looking back on? Demi Moore. So I've heard from just in that industry that she had a facelift revision. So she had one last year or something. And if you remember, she like walked in a show and everyone was saying very horrible things. I think that was a couple of years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Whoever did her this year or whenever she had this transformation, I'm not exactly sure, but she revealed it this year.

48:02Amazing. And I saw the movie The Substance. Oh, you did? I loved it. I loved it. but she looks absolutely incredible. Yeah, yeah. I mean, up until that moment where she got dragged a few years ago, which I thought was a filler incident overboard, but she's just, she has had such good work. And I know that you, sometimes you can name drop, sometimes you can't. Do we know who she gets her work done from? I'm not sure. I believe I heard Dr. Gary is who fixed it, but I'm not positive. Don't quote. I mean, yeah. You're technically literally quoting me, but you're quoting yourself, darling. I'm not sure.

48:37Okay. But Dr. Gary in New York is really great too. Yeah. Is that a last name or first name? Dr. Gary. Okay, cool. And I want to ask you about Jennifer Aniston because I feel like that's one that people would say to you, she said nothing done. Yes. Right? I'm sure you can hear that all the time. Let's talk about it. Actually, I have a story about a patient and that's actually what kind of sparked me to start my page, which is funny. A lot of the clientele that we had at the med school that I was working at at the time were a little bit older like they skewed white older wealthy and this woman she did not take care of her skin in her like younger days she but she she kind of looks like jennifer aniston and she's like this is the look that i want and we're like okay you need lasers first of all to get your skin to that texture and then botox whatever so we were getting her ready to start her laser stuff and she comes in and she was like hey thank you for everything you know all the planning that you did for me.

49:31But she was reading a magazine and Jennifer Aniston had said something like she does yogurt and honey on her face and like the enzymes like break stuff down. I don't know. And she's like, so I'm going to try that for a while before I do the lasers. I was like, girl, lasers, honey and yogurt. She came back like a month later and started her lasers and was really happy yeah yeah yeah I feel like she she's someone who must have this is me my own opinion have done very consistent tweaks all the way along because you don't really see that before and after and that's why people don't believe it right because it's so good and it's been just over decades exactly you know exactly looking great low and slow baby yeah she looks amazing Yeah.

50:18I believe that she's had a facelift. I think she might have even gone to Dr. Giacono, even though I don't like him. Yeah. Interesting. But no, she is the lasers, like taking care of that and sunscreen. I mean, she was advertising sunscreen before it was cool to advertise sunscreen. It was like the Vino brand. Do you remember that? Oh, yeah, definitely. Definitely. Who's the most famous celebrity who's ever slid into your DMs and asked you for a cosmetic surgeon referral? Is there anybody? Yes. Chrissy Teigen and Christine Quinn would be probably the two biggest to ask for referrals. And did you say my fee is?

50:53No, actually don't charge. I can talk about Christine's because she's open about hers. Yeah. She ended up going to Dr. Catherine Chang for a blepharoplasty. Bleph. And then she said that that's also where, oh my gosh, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, her two daughters are models. Oh, Lisa Rinna? Lisa Rinna. She said Lisa Rinna and her kids. went to Dr. Chang. Allegedly. Allegedly. Yes. Well, it's not alleged. Yes. Because I'm telling you that someone told me. Yeah, true, true. So I love I love Christine. I love Dr. Chang's natural approach. I think it's great. Is there anyone who you see regularly picked apart in Hollywood for having work done, but you actually don't believe they've had work done?

51:39Because some I think our whole concept of how people age is getting skewed of what it visually looks like. And sometimes the way certain people might age, it might look like they've had work done and they haven't. Honestly, I don't know because I don't think people get picked apart being told that they do have work done. But I do think that we'll say that we want people to be natural. Like, why can't they just be natural? And when I say we, I mean just a small fragment of very loud people on the Internet. it but then when you'll see like like sarah jessica parker and like that she doesn't do botox in her forehead and was graying and the way people were just disgusted with it right meanwhile men yeah they're like oh it's fine but sarah jessica parker you can't win we always say and i'm again i mean we as a as a culture we always say what we don't want but actually we want right that thing we want you to age like you've had work done without having the work done exactly That's possible, obviously.

52:36That's exactly what we want. Wow. And so now looking ahead to 2025, what transformations or like what types of surgery do you anticipate will be big in 2025? I think we're still seeing a ton of explants and fat transfer. That is every surgeon that I work with. They're like, one of my surgeons that I work with, he loves, he just loves implants better. He's just like, they just hold up better. Like, you know, fat transfer, your body might absorb some. and they have to come back, whatever. He's like, is there just a stigma against implants now? He's like, don't worry, Dr. Rose, you're going to be retired soon.

53:11You don't have to worry about this anymore. But every single surgeon that does like implants, they're like, everyone's getting explanted or going to tiny implants or that transfer. And I don't think we've hit the hump yet. I think it's moving in that direction still. So everybody go and follow Dana for her very, very thorough videos. Like I get the popcorn out when I'm watching one of your videos because I know you've done your homework. Thank you. And the pictures and all the documentation is there, everyone. So definitely go and check that out. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you. Thanks for listening.
