03Welcome back to Dansplaining, the UK's number one fashion podcast with your host Danny Lomas and me jordan rayson each episode will be joined by a guest chatting style careers and industry advice so make sure you subscribe to the podcast give us five stars if you're feeling generous and head over to our socials to keep up with what we're up to so stick the kettle on kick back and enjoy the episode welcome back to dansplaining this is the second episode in two weeks that's crazy yeah somebody did make a comment of like you're doing your annual upload and we did consider it. Do you know what? We're only doing this one now because we don't need to release until 2027.

41This could be 2026. Okay, yeah, that makes sense. Perfect. No, but we are back. It seems like we're back. We're so back. We are so back. We're trying to be back. How long it lasts? I've got faith in us this time. I do. I mean, to be fair, even when Callum came to pick up the stuff from me, he was saying he's glad that the podcast is coming back. The guy who came to approach me and Bricklayers, who said that they were listening to him and his missus just before they got there, thank you to you. I think we're kind of kneeling this, the press around the rebirth. It's just, is the rebirth going to last?

13It will. No, it will last and what I will say is if everyone can just make sure that they click on automatic downloads and subscribe and do the five star ratings, almost like we did right at the start of the podcast, just because it kind of negates it that we've just pissed off for so long. So we've kind of got to build up that clout again with Spotify, who did love us for ages. They did, yeah. And then we ghosted them. Ooh. red flag red flag massive red flag but yes so today we've got a guest episode next week which we're really excited about in the middle of editing that at the moment but we thought this week so we keep the flow going we'll catch up on what we're doing but we're also going to do a little talk around fashion and festivals festival etiquette fashion etiquette around festivals festival etiquette good lord I wasn't prepared for this one and I mean you are I've just seen a 10 page document that you wrote for a brand about festivals so yeah we're going to go through that But Daniel Lomas, I suppose the first question is, how are you doing, mate?

07Tired. I'm quite tired. But, I mean, I know you're going to say I've never worked a day in my life. But... You did work at a skate park. I did work at a skate park. And Fred Perry. And Priory. Anyone else? PAQ, I guess. Did that for a bit. Yeah, today, it's been a long day. It's been good. It's been productive. Woke up, quarter past six, wrote two scripts. I think one of them was... One of them's for a video. one of them is for a thousand word essay. Essay? I guess it's an essay. It's like you're doing your masters. It's like you're doing your masters. Yeah, I mean, I was supposed to do it yesterday, but it was a great day for sport.

43It was Formula One and the final day of the US Open. So I was watching that. So today, blasted it all out in one go. No chat GPT. I find it harder to use prompts to get what you want than it is just to write what you want. I'm probably a bit of an idiot here because I think a lot of people in my industry use chat GPT to do stuff. You can tell a mile off. I've never used it for it and I'm just like oh am I missing out am I not using my brain to 100 % to make it use 10 % of my brain yeah but I just like do you know what I'll quickly just write something up instead I mean if it works for your happy days but for me I don't know although I did have like a weird moment where it was Sir Esther my model agent she said to me when I did the first post to run it through chat at GBT to say this is what I'm posting about can you give me like some like a viral caption to do it and it does a whole thing it's like the emojis a really clickbaity title and then it does all the hashtags for you and granted when i did that i got a lot of engagement second time i didn't do that didn't get as much engagement so there's definitely something there i don't know but maybe i then ran a caption through it saying can you do it in the tone of danny lomas and it was really good actually so this is the we spoke about it last week the sort of low down the low mass energy news reporting so this will be the third one so if anyone wants to go research this the first one will be chat GPT captions second one no chat third one is a refined caption where you've said write it like me and I suppose people can go and have a look for themselves and everyone can go spam the comments be like oh my god this sounds like chat GPT chat GPT but yeah it was impressive so yeah so I did that And then this morning, half ten, I was over in Camden for a casting.

32I came back from that. I've just filmed two more episodes of The Lowdown. So one of them was branded. Second one was continuation. Because before I did the one where it's how to get into a fashion show, the title of it was what is a fashion show and how do you get into them? But then I realized we didn't actually use it any of the... Stop watching Scott on Elden Ring. I can see you staring. I realize now if anyone's watching this on Spotify, it's going to look like I'm just powered down halfway through. because Scott's sat in front of us playing computer games and it's quite visually interesting.

03But he seems to be quite good at it. He's not died yet. No, Scott's a big nerd for video games. He's very impressive. Which one's this called, Scott? Elden Ring Night Rain. Elden Ring Night Rain. I think it's like a 3v3 Elden Ring Battle Royale kind of game. Is this on PlayStation? It's on PlayStation. Maybe it's not. I feel like a boomer. Go on. A roguelike. It's a roguelike. of course it is yeah anyway so yeah casting came back and then filmed two episodes because yeah I didn't realise that I didn't add in the bits about what a show is so then I just freestined it off my head about what a show like what actually happens at a show what makes a show good go on well so we've kind of done this as well on the podcast a couple of years ago and yeah was there anything that you remembered from this one you've just done that you think's pertinent interesting funny any quirky anecdotes not really no okay I mean this is it's very like oh it's like layman's terms but it's low man's terms I guess we're just going with all the low things the low down the low man's terms which is basically just simplifying stuff it's yeah like I said before it's like imagining there's someone who's not into fashion what do they want to know and how would I explain it like I'm five I was going to get a reference in every week yeah and then obviously they your team edited the last video up yeah and it was like oh yeah sometimes you can take a plus one if you're nice and there's a picture of you and me at Charles Jeffrey where I was sat covering it for a magazine and this is the one and I was like you pick the one like not the one but like I think but the podcast was quite big at the time and that's why there was a few press picks of us together around that time where we both getting individual invites but I was just like you cheeky bastard because this was Charles Jeffrey and we were sat usually Danny and I sit like next to each other or like around the same area I was sat on the press side which is the opposite side and all we were doing was just taking videos of each other in the show everyone's just like there's a girl from Esquire next to me just like what are you doing I think he's like a kid that's my son so proud of him sitting in the real influencer bit but yeah and then after this I'm going on a Like Old Felix invite me onto the So Me podcast S-U-W-M-E and then Lou Northcote has got me on Lou Asks You so straight after this there might even be a bit of crossover depending on how long this episode goes on for so yeah Felix coming over doing a pod with him after that going for a walk with Lou and she does like a little pop mic kind of series ask me about fashion I actually don't know the question she's not sent me anything so it's freestyling is that why you've worn your for the audio only listeners your Laylo t-shirt which is the mug shop of Lindsay Lohan yep because nothing screams fashion more than Lindsay Lohan absolutely what did she get done for DUI drugs I want to say yeah yeah Yeah.

53What I'm quite happy about is I was thinking about this when I was getting dressed today because I've been busy at work. I came over to my office to grab some stuff and I was like, let's bang out a pod quickly. And I was like, getting dressed, I was like, oh shit, I probably need to get some clothes. Yeah. But I keep buying bottoms. So these are these new South 2S8 trousers. I've got the black version. Bottoms for a bottom? Yeah. Well, I'll come on to that in a minute as well. Oh, I heard that before. Carry on. I keep buying like Tecla shorts. Yeah. but obviously these are great these are sick yeah I've got these in black in the old versions what are these these are like tonic these are almost brown yeah brown gold my always socks on as well but yeah that was a lot harder for me to get my leg up there than I thought that it should be for like a stop making these innuendos it's too easy but yeah then I just looked down at your outfits and this is what I mean I think having the table here ruins our aesthetic choices because what are they just like Nike shorts just Nike shorts I've had these since I was probably about 14 they fucking look at they look absolutely ratty yeah I sounded so posh then or in my head I did and everyone was going to be like no you sounded like the most common person in the world but yeah I need to buy some tops because I just keep buying trousers and shorts instead and they don't even get put on camera no unfortunately but yeah I mean I've done three outfits today so I came in a pair of jeans I tried to change them very good pair of jeans the jawned Levi's top I had a western belt on as well so Fiona from Linden thought I looked very western just because I shripped the belt I said the jawns got the horse on yeah then got changed I was in Casablanca trousers Bearberry shoes Bearberry jumper which is very lovely then now I'm in a Lilo t-shirt with Lindsay Lohan Lilo for Lilo Lilo for Lilo whatever one of them and a pair of Nike shorts because I am sweating at it it's so warm bejeweled bedazzled Aries hat a bejazzled Aries hat which you're now allowed to wear oh god yeah blacklisted from the podcast for two years exactly this is courtesy of Scott Scott pulled this or bought this himself and he said it doesn't fit his head so he said here you go stuck it on mine perfect fit fantastic what great news thank you so yeah that's that's been what's coming up today I can't believe this podcast is free premium concert it's going to get better I said to everyone on the last one look it's not we need to get practiced and then we're going to be inviting the big dogs on and I've not been able to nap yet and I've had no food all day today what a hard life you live mate honestly yeah the things I do for you guys what's great is we mentioned a couple people that we wanted to come on the podcast and they've already reached out and said they're down so it's actually happening ladies and gentlemen the podcast is coming back these are our trial runs we're going to get good get used to these mics because there's a bit of interference on them just practice and we appreciate you sticking with us but yeah I figure you know we should mention what we've been up to before we go into the meat the bulk of the podcast which is based around what we've been up to but it's worth just shouting out because we wanted a Paris guide for Fashion Week and people were like I get a lot of people messaging me like where should I go to E what should I do in Paris also I get people saying things about Milan as well all the time and I've definitely said on the podcast before I'm like I don't know we literally go to the show go to the show go to the show go back and eat McDonald's because it's the only thing open I've never had a good meal in Milan because we only ever eat really late at night I don't think since BAQ I've eaten in a restaurant in Milan I did by choice I've done like Barbasso and I went for one meal and that's about it but there's a really famous burger joint called Dumbo Paris and we were rather fortunate enough to be invited to the opening of the London one that's a smash burger joint and I saw Topjaw.

48Were you there? They were there. On that night? Yeah. No way. Gutted. Or maybe it was the next day, I don't know. But I saw their TikTok come up. Right, yeah, yeah. And they were saying they think it might be the best smash burger in London. Do you know what? It was perfect. I didn't know if it was going to be a really pretentious burger, blah, blah, blah. It was the really shitty American cheese, some great smash burger patties. It was just the perfect comfort. I don't know what the price range is. Don't get me wrong. Danny doesn't pay for stuff. Danny doesn't pay for stuff. But it was exactly what I fancied.

21Because, I mean, so the event was on the street very much. It was quite like a pop-up, wasn't it? Because I guess, stop staring at Elden Ring. You're putting me off. Sorry. He's really good at it. That's why. Should we just flip the camera? Should we just make them what you've got? On TikTok, when they do the runescape stuff, they put it over when they steal someone else's YouTube content. So we have, yeah, we just get a 360 camera. And then just like chop it. So one half's on us, the other half's on Scott. I'm going to twist my chair so I'm not looking. Now this isn't going to put you off, is it?

52Well, what we should do is just actually move the setup around and then we can see Scott playing in the background as well as us in the foreground. You might be a genius. I might be a genius. So yeah, it's off Redchurch Street, Bethnal Green Road, opposite Brick Lane. So very East London vibes. Yeah, Churchly. True actually. That's just the truth. It felt like Redchurch Street was miles away but it's not at all. No, so that's where everyone was sat on the pavement. but there's loads of great people there we had lots of nice chats lots of people were congratulating us on the return of the podcast what did you think of the burgers?

23yeah I liked it I was a bit freaked out that you we got there and they were like here's your tokens for burgers Danny's like nah I'm not going to have one I was just like maybe just come down here for the burger I'd already eaten before do you know I choked on it as well? straight away first bite I just got it stuck in my throat and then when I tried to drink wine to put it down I couldn't swallow so I wasn't like choking and coughing but I was sat there just a bit paralysed well that's isn't that the thing that if you're coughing you're not actually really choking because the air's getting through yeah maybe I was just there you might have actually been dying I think it could have been yeah but we made it yeah and there was loads of great people like Tora was there and Hannah Crosby lots of ex-guests of the podcast the orange one was banging and then I had a little freak out and I had to go home yeah you did you were really stimulated so everyone was like oh John's going to sit down because what was it there was two options I was going to do I was going to come up to you and shout nightmare nightmare nightmare or what was the other one throw me i was sat on the floor you're gonna throw money at me oh that was it yeah god that makes me sound like an awful bastard it does but um as i said i've seen your bank account i know you're not earning any money nowadays mate i'm on minus at the moment i'm owed money which i haven't received yet and then uh yeah just sort of thing to keep buying fake cigarettes from you going abroad yeah if i stop going on holiday it'll save you money you're not wrong but yeah um no it was really good it was fun it was nice go try them out i really liked it maybe here's the thing if we shout them out on this podcast and then we clip it send it to lucinda who does the pr yeah they might go here's a gold card black card man absolutely and then we can see burgers all summer one piece of advice though chew it it's a very very good point and i'm glad the way i wanted to go i'm glad that this uh you know this fully grown man has learned how to eat now yeah so we did that but then most importantly you either ended or started brat summer this weekend yeah did you close it out or open it i'm not sure do you know what i'm not too quite i'm not too sure either so what did you get up to so um the day after that dill was at the pub so friend uh dylan backhouse came down it's first time seeing him ages excuse me okay well you know this has got nothing to do with charlie the expert no but i was um so i started so into bricklayers we did a little shoot for dill's new t-shirt brand nice copy so shot that in bricklayers with a few like friends and family of the brand so like graphic t-shirts yeah quite cool uh like yeah i mean they are graphic t-shirts some slogans some graphics from my old films and what obviously it's like snatch he's got a is it the reebok or the night t-shirt the reebok or the nike t-shirt i don't know if you've seen that video of the uh the guy on the radio show and he says uh what's that song is it the reebok or the Nike and he finally finds out it's the rhythm of the night.

02So yeah, Dills immortalised that on a t-shirt. Then God's County as well. So obviously, bitter me. So yeah, we shot that. Friends of the show and the brand, Steve from Bricklay is in it. I think Farouk got a shot in it. People like Moscow, everyone just came down. It was lovely seeing everyone. So because I knew I had something on the next day, I was drinking vodka lime sodas because I asked for a vodka cola or vodka coke and she thought I said vodka soda that's my accent and I thought do you know what not half bad so I was drinking that in the morning no hangover which is good and bad because it felt like I didn't really drink and also it's fucking four times more expensive so God knows how much I spent but that answers the question maybe that was the point that Bratzelman started Danny Lomas drinking a skinny bitch and the reason we're saying it is because on the Saturday on the Saturday right I'll tell you the full story because I don't think I've told you this Can I put the mic down?

58If you want. Stick it on mute first. I'll keep on. Sweet. I can interject and be really annoying. Of course you can. You're not going to start. Are you going to wait until I speak? Yes. Sweet. So in the daytime, I couldn't make it to... Got to count the name of the restaurant now. It's the one in the Hoxton... Llama. Llama. So the girls were meeting at Llama. So I went with Casamigos to Lido Festival. Is it hosted by Charlie? No, I think it was the headline, I think. well I don't know because actually the Axis like Rose Grey they're there so they're all like affiliates I suppose so maybe maybe not we don't know yeah I think Charlie might have had something to do with it so then yeah the girls all went to Lama beforehand for margaritas and food to stop watching Scott and Elden Ring but like I don't want to listen to you I've got to do something yeah true get you a fidget spinner for next time so then they all went there and I said I'll meet you at the festival I'll meet you at the pub nearby the classic one that we went to before.

59On the corner, yep. Yep. So went there. They said, right, we're going to get a car from the Lama at half four, meet you there at five. So I get there for like quarter to five, I'm going to say, sit in a pub, get a pint, sit down outside on a bench on my own. A lovely lady, so she was really pleasant, sweet. She comes up to me. I think she'd had a couple of drinks beforehand. Anna, I do love you. so then she comes up to me starts chatting turns out we have a lot of mutual friends and then people like Leanne Elliot Young so she's worked in film she used to work at Dazed a few years ago yeah just a really light sweet lass and then the I think her MD and her mushrooms kicked in and she was telling me she was a dominatrix she's all this good stuff how are you going to put a name out there and like so now someone just has to search I can give you a full govy if you want no so So, yeah, it was very pleasant.

56So it brightened up. I was a little bit anxious, obviously, before going to a festival where everyone is basically half naked, just all in crop tops and not much else. Because that's the opposite of my Charlie experience in Privy of Air. But we'll talk about that in a second. Because we wanted to talk about the festival. Wait, was Charlie X6 playing or Charlie is in? Charlie X6. No, not the... Reeling gear. I thought you meant somebody who's been on the podcast. No, no, no. No, yeah, because everybody was just dressed in like the lime green brat. There was a guy in like a full lime green brat suit that said brat branding everywhere on it.

30I mean, we're joking about it, but I wouldn't have been out of place in a Borat mankini. Should have worn it. Get the boys out the barracks. But then essentially, so the girls didn't turn up till like quarter to six or something daft. So then, yeah, went in there. Must have missed half the act, but we saw me and Ruben Larkin went to Blady. It is Blady, innit? Yeah, Blady. So we went to Blady and then just watched Charlie. other than that we're just like in the voe bit bumped into rose and harris as well so rose gray let's chat to her and harris dickinson um so harris he said to me he's like i know you where do we meet and i was like i couldn't remember but it was when we went to gantt yeah yeah so it was a gantt archive and then we shared a taxi and went to rochelle canteen but he's a lovely lad and then hannah was losing her shit as well so she's like i've videoed you chatting to harris and she's got this photo of me it just looks like i'm chewing his ear off i mean that's that tends to be what the case is but no that's a weird one because obviously I think when you met him he wasn't I mean he's just absolutely blown up now yeah he was blowing up he was just before Triangle of Sadness came out I think I think so yeah so he's named to be one to watch yeah and now he is but isn't everyone no but like so when they escape this and actually do something what do you know it was interesting I was chatting to Rose I did a shoot with him we were chatting and then just the way she talks about him or like her partner yeah and then so I was just chatting to her and then someone I was working with was just like but isn't her partner hashtag it and I was like yeah and then that was just blowing their mind because she was like not moaning about it but just the standard couple stuff oh they say he's alarm really early and it was just like the really boring shit that anyone else tell you but this person was just so sweet because I think a baby girl had just come out and obviously every woman just fell in love with him so yeah he's so lovely I'd love to get him on the podcast if he's got if he's got a spare hour or two yeah I think we wanted to get him for a campaign once but then he just signed for Prada it was that yeah we haven't we should have rose on yeah she's oh all right attention seeker we've got uh we've got a guest hopefully but yeah so we should get rose gray on as well um but yeah did you enjoy the festival because you're not a big festival person loved it yeah oh wait was that the door that was a door it's okay look we can oh no no it's just got going sorry i thought uh i thought felix here already never mind this is a riveting conversation it is but yeah because i I went to Primavera.

51Yes. And I don't know how much we covered it off last week, but did we talk about it last week? I'm sure we did. It doesn't matter if we did. But yeah, I saw LCD Sound System. I saw Turnstyle. Although, actually, I saw Larry from Friend Fitz post about going to Turnstyle. Yeah. And then on Reddit, people were just ripping, being like, these influencers coming into our hardcore bands, blah, blah, blah. And then other people were just like, this guy's 35. He's probably into that kind of music. and also turn styles that not like deep hardcore band no it's funny it's Brockhampton but it's rock music's Brockhampton fair okay yeah not in like a bad way but it's not like but yes I saw like Salem who were like amazing yeah but yeah so Charlie XCX they had Charlie XCX Sabrina Carpenter and Chapel Ronon sick and the festival wares changed for each day right depending on who was playing like you could really tell who's playing because they were almost like people cosplaying as the artist in a way which was super weird but as a man what would you wear to each of those um well here's the thing i i i want to wear shorts right you know i love shorts yeah but you can't put too much shit in your pockets this is i don't know if this is good content or not but you know we talk about clothes might as well talk about it yeah can't put too much in your pockets because you know you end up panting yourself yeah um what do you have to take i take a phone uh battery pack oh fair right okay uh but then i always have my porter yeah but if you're wearing if you're trying to look a little bit smarter a little bit more chic a portal bag doesn't really come down yeah massively i could just make were you running around town with a tote bag no i was i was a bit of a menace every time i had to sit down because i was emptying my pockets but i had yeah house keys and i've got quite a few keys just like whatever shit on my house keys fags lighters chewy wallet phone that's quite it yeah but even so it's like phone's always in right wallet's always in left fags and what uh lighter in one back pocket keys in the other one and it's a bit like you can't really what shoes were you wearing because here's that's the other thing is i went to a festival last year and rolling ladders on a beach yeah and I wore they were I had two pairs of white Prada cups I wore the ones a bit more beaten up yeah but it's on the beach yeah and I absolutely fucked them and like there's a video of me just pouring out the sand at the end of the night so I just don't I can't wear those anymore but you have to be super careful with like your footwear choices which is why premium very good because all that concrete and it's yeah dust or anything like that so I could wear that night I wore those new hawkers I got oh yeah of course the Metafe 4s or something like that they're so sick honestly I've never been stopped about a shoe more in my life yeah they're really cool they're like these lilac runners kind of like see-through remember the Nike React 85s I think that's why they're chunky they're almost like a what's it called a Rowa yeah it's like a recovery shoe they're kind of like a recovery shoe where you wouldn't really run in them but you can that's because I just don't do laces up at all I just have them yeah true but I wore my more just my new black leather boat shoes because I thought they're easy they're wiped clean they're dead comfy and then yeah it was very dusty at Lido you could just see it like blown in the air and it's I just knew I was going to be full of hair fever and I was did you dip out early?

22no we still till the complete end oh shit and it was a nightmare getting out there and getting back yeah I can imagine not being the best for you with your anxieties and stuff like that I was pissed at this point it's fine oh okay the alcohol subsides made it for no subside and luckily we were going somewhere that was like halfway home so walked to that next spot which was great fun it was a bit weird but then Ruben performed My Way by Frank Sinatra so good loved it I actually went to a karaoke bar with Ruben and Callum in New York and them two did that there did they? it was interesting good lord interesting to say the most about it but yeah when Hannah tried to get back as well so Hannah lives in South London and I think usually it's about 15, 20 quid.

04She showed me it was 90 quid to get back if you wanted to get an Uber. So I don't know how she made it back, but yeah, obviously, because it was everyone absolutely piloted. Oh, do you know who I bumped into? That was lovely seeing. Tell me. Bacar. Okay, yeah. So Bacar was with people who hate me, if I can't remember the name. I just didn't know the name. It was a blonde lady and then people I was with were losing the shit of Bacar being with her. So he was like, his mates, just bumped into him just at the bar. They're all in fluorescent colours, quite brat and yeah me and Baka did a shot together and then reminisced a little bit about his first ever release so yeah so Baka BK yeah he's um ex-model oh yeah something yeah I say ex-model and he's now got proper music yeah albums yeah he's been on boats with Kylie and Kendall Jenner like chilling out um but he was originally in the first few episodes of PAQ as well he was the how do you describe it he was he was like ringleader kind of thing he was like cultural consultant he was like hired to make sure we weren't corny could do with that now yeah did a terrible job no but like he's in the episodes and he's like the one who sets the challenge and stuff like that yeah yeah so BK was there it was nice seeing him because I said to him I was like because we were on about the time when me and you saw him with Matt Brown in Berlin no Stockholm Stockholm so I'm then and I was like I read about that where I was like hey you're impressed I knew your first release he's like what Big Dreams I was like no and he's like sharing his camera and I was like yeah like you'd literally just finished recording it while we were on set for PAQ and showed us he's like Danny my G I love that man love BK always a pleasure seeing him yeah I wonder what he's doing now probably Elden Ring yeah I mean I keep looking at it I think maybe this is the year that I get into gaming you know you've said this every year have I you have well Grand Theft Auto is out next year I'm definitely I'm definitely going to play that We'll probably all be a while by then.

00Why? There's things going on in it. You're going to talk about Jaden Smith? People come to a skip, stuff like that. What's the Jaden Smith line in the interview? I'm sure it was great. It's like that famous thing. He's like, why aren't we talking about the state of something? I don't know. Oh, good Lord. But yeah, it's going to be next year. Is that the year of Jordan Risen Gaming? I think it might be. Start streaming. why aren't streamers big in the UK is it because you think people just don't have time for that stuff I think yeah I don't know I never really thought about it are you googling Jaden Smith yeah people listen can we talk about it's like can we talk about the geopolitical and economic state of the world or something like that yeah that's it they ask him a question can we just talk about the geopolitical and economic state of the world right now and I was just like hmm rather just stick to stick to your E-Bot collaboration or whatever it was.

57New Balance, New Balance character. Oh my God, it's so bad. It's so bad. That's the thing. Also, I suppose this is a sort of roll-on from something that I don't know if you were there where we were talking about like A-list, who's an A-list, who's a B-list, who's a C-list star. Yeah. Why has Jaden Smith got a New Balance collab? Did it shift numbers? Like, is it just that we weren't that demographic but actually it shifts numbers? I'm just intrigued to see in general what collabs are like nowadays. Is there like, how much kickback they get? Because the last good, there's probably been more since, but Amine is really good.

28The New Balance. Is it New Balance or Asics? I would have thought New Balance for him, but maybe it's Asics. But the yellow ones, they were fantastic. But I suppose the thing about someone like Amine, I know, but he is massive. In my head, it's... But he's still got taste. It's like when Sean Willerspoon did the 97. Was it 97? Yeah. And it was like, you didn't know, you didn't have to know who Sean was to appreciate. That was the competition. Yeah, that was the air max. Yeah. Yeah. And then he blew up after that. Yeah. which is wild to think but what I mean is you see people get given collaborations or band sponsorships and stuff like that and it doesn't actually move the needle does it shift numbers at all or is it just somebody goes like oh ten million followers lyric fuel just so you can say that you've yeah like I've to the ops that are listening that's it Amine for example they probably made that many so it probably did sell out and again it was a nice shoe these are two these and too hell so it probably does sell out but like I think culturally it gives the brand some clout because he's cool yeah Jaden Smith's not really cool no but he's big yeah so I'm trying to work out I'd love to know like which ones flop which ones do well yeah I'd love to know what a brand's biggest flop one is well mate there's a TikTok going around at the moment about this guy and I might be paraphrasing I might be wrong slightly but basically he kicked off because he was like I spent£60 ,000 at Bottega and they won't even give me a brand deal well firstly if you're spending 60 ,000 pounds with Bottega they're not going to give you a brand deal they're like cool just keep spending your money here please and I just don't think some people understand like that world because the whole thing here the whole thing is like if you're already buying the product talking about it there are cases where that it shows the authenticity which is really good yeah but it needs to be desirable the brand who they choose to align with especially someone like Bottega if you look at like the Jacob Elordi's ASAP Rockies and then actually the other people they invite to their show.

20So I remember they had the boxer who people were like calling out during the Olympics and they've got really interesting people. Yeah. Even though they had the meme person who did, I can't think of what their whole like little thing was, but they were quite, it was interesting. Yeah. They're taking those interesting things. They're not just picking like any like Tom, Dick or Harry just because they've got 50 ,000 followers. Yeah, exactly. But yeah, it was just, it was interesting and just seeing the backlash this person received. but other people are like oh my god yeah they should know to like give you free stuff because you've been spending money with them it's like that's not the way it works if they've got free stuff they're going to give it to people who don't know about them or don't shop with them to try and win them over to get them to start shopping with them or like the whole point of influence is you have an audience that is tapped into and you want to be part of that and you know you probably look at that audience and go I don't know if I want to be part of that audience you look at someone who's really desirable and you want to get be part of their audience even if that person does shop at Bottega and you work at Bottega you want to do that maybe Batekers they don't really do that much influence stuff anyway well I know during the clothes and stuff they don't really do maybe they do some of the leather goods but they Burberry whoever they're not just throwing it out to everyone they think about who aligns with the brand and yeah it was just I think it can go both ways as well where it's like if you love a brand and they do a collab with someone who's corny or you don't respect it does dampen your view of the brand yeah i definitely agree with that and i'm just like people the influencer world i talk about quite a lot while i work and stuff like that and like the v1 influencers versus like what is now because you know the first wave of influencers i'm gonna go like your era 2016 2017 when influence really became a thing and push pushing marketing terms obviously people with culture influence before that yeah like bloggers and yeah yeah a lot of those bloggers then turned into like some of the bigger like female ones especially yeah they're the ones like a million like victoria i was thinking victoria yeah she keeps on my tiktok trying to sell sauvage and i'm like babe i'm not buying sauvage like behave yourself unless you want to sponsor the podcast exactly i love it i smell of it um no you don't because you haven't bought it yet because they need to send you it so then you'd start buying into it no but i saw victoria's one i bought it from now i spent 60 000 pounds on sauvage no you bought it from victoria's link to give to a friend because then you still spent the money with them but you still need persuading yes that's exactly it there you go get in touch please get in touch is Johnny Depp cancelled I don't know I don't know what happened to that Amber Heard thing because like I know that she'd done some stuff but there was then I was reading something about it was quite coercive listen I think we need to we need to go and like research more about this stuff because I don't know who I'm supposed to be buying into now I don't know anything about this now I also saw this I thought it was over I thought he got acquitted no no yeah it did but then I was reading something the other day about like he has the money and he influenced not influenced the trial but and I might be reading this wrong so please don't fuck it people already wanted him to win in a sense yeah but he chose certain he chose like the court in a certain state where there's different laws and also just yeah but it doesn't matter because but he's still the face of Savage isn't he oh right that's irrelevant so that's the right yeah that's the way my brain works he just jumps around and then I was going to say I saw so what you're saying is he potentially need a new fresh face potentially to be hello the brand ambassadors hello just you know also what better way to advertise your smell product than a thing that people listen to absolutely like I agree describe describe your scent right now humming humming exactly so you can get in on this mate what am I wearing I'm wearing oh god I can't remember the name of it in fact now I'm going to pretend I do know the name of it I'm gatekeeping yeah that's I went for an ESOP consultation and they gave me like a face refining mask, I guess.

16So you use it for 20 minutes, do it off. And it was lovely. I used it yesterday and I feel silky smooth. And then they gave me a scent as well. And I was going to bring it in so I remember the name. But I can't. Gatekeep it. Gatekeep it, yeah. It's not Moroccan. What was it? Well, that's a preparation. You shouldn't be wearing Moroccan. Yeah, okay. it was it was no Marrakesh Marrakesh Nights somewhere Arabian Nights is that what he says he didn't he didn't they're best selling one and yes yeah went over there had the consultation found one and he's gorgeous can you smell it on me I actually can do you know what it is it's like it is quite it's quite manly smelling like my my perfumes by and large I prefer like quite a feminine one yeah I think because I'm so manly absolutely it makes sense I've actually got a I've got a Loewe you're not beating those bottom allegations from earlier and I'm not trying to mate you know because we are I'm working on a big pride campaign at the moment as well good on you yeah so I'll see you all at 2nd of June at the party 2nd of June's already been 2nd of July at the party thank you for that you're right yeah I've got a Loewe perfume I say I've got a Loewe Danny's got a Loewe perfume that he doesn't wear because it's just my scent whenever I come here now yeah because you started wearing it when I first got it and then now it just makes smell like you and Lola because Lola used to always nick it as well in oh that's good news for anyone who cares anyone who's like followed the the law of this back when you know we were a big deal or even slightly bigger deal than we are now our old intern who's in some of the early TikToks Lola yeah basically we had to we ruthlessly cut her from the team we cast her aside no HR so it didn't matter we just told her she's shit and she's got to leave was it she's now gone on to be a massive model I was going to say it's more like cutting off the chains when you're drowning rather than uh so no lona's um we were chatting to lona she's in america all the time shooting but we figure she's gonna come on the podcast and she is yeah and what we could do to about modeling a bit of tiktok stuff and then also just start helping us start danceplaining i mean she can talk to about modeling tiktok in basically everything that i do but she's good at it she gets hired yeah i mean tiktok i'm not i'm not letting you post one TikTok and say you know about TikTok now.

37Three? No, I've had one again. I've only done the two thingy ones. Okay, so yeah, a bit more time there, mate, and then we can decide. But yeah, so she's coming on. That's going to be, I can't wait for that. For her leaving present, me and her were like, you know, I love Lona. She's amazing. There's that video where she's doing kick-ups. I was going to slide tackle her. She's not really good at football. She is really good at football. She is, yeah. And we were in the office, and I just slid tackle her. But then she was like goading me trying to like be like, oh yeah, you guys needed me to come work here.

07You're like trying to get, you begged me to come here. And I was like, no, I've got your, you emailed me. I've got your cover letter. She's like, no, it doesn't exist. So for her leaving present, we got her cover letter printed on t-shirts. So at dinner, she went to the toilet and then we all just changed into the t-shirts with her cover letter on. She just came up, it was like bright red, just dying inside. What were some of the lines from it? There's some really good ones. I can't even remember. It looked like she was trying to do it for an English. When she comes on, that's what we'll wear.

34Yeah, perfect. Okay, stunning. I'm down. Do you want to talk about the festival do's and don'ts then, really quickly, to kind of finish this off? We're at 39 minutes already. Oh, jeez. Yeah, but I'd say... Oh, jeez. Oh, jeez. Oh, jeez. I'd say, out of 39 minutes, it's probably about seven minutes that it's actually okay. Like, that we would actually put a normal podcast normally. I mean, I've got another podcast in 15 minutes. That's all right. Maybe we should leave this one rolling. I'm down, yeah. If there's any good snippets, we can just throw that in there. Perfect. no yeah festivals I just think Jordan Raison what do you wear to a festival in 2025 it's hard because you want to look good you know well I'll tell you what then so my the project that I just had to work on was for Glastonbury mainly but it's also for other festivals like Leeds Fest Boomtown blah blah blah Danny got offered a ticket to Glastonbury and turned it down for free don't know what you're about I think we should know how much of a nerd you are I'm a man of the people and I'd like it to go to someone else who appreciates it you're like no I'd rather pay for it.

28I'd rather pay for it. Support the artists. Exactly. There you go. Support the millionaires. What a man. What a man. Maybe we should bring it up to Patreon then. Maybe we should. Go on. So, yeah, you spoke about that Gorpcore. So, I basically had to predict trends that you'd see. I ain't got it signed off yet, so I'm hoping you don't turn around and say this is all wrong. So, it's like, essentially, the brief was obviously with a multi-brand retailer and they were saying, oh, what was the official brief? It's basically like saying, what menswear trends do you predict at festivals? But I took it away to kind of say, this is what I'd like to see in menswear at festivals.

07Okay. So I said, first of all, Gopcore. I think it's in a good way now where I even say to it, say in it, that Gopcore does make me wince a little bit. But we're not talking about people who dress like robot ninjas and it's not just going straight back to throwback 70s, 80s, 90s jackets. It's more like now the fabrics have improved. Yeah, stuff like these trousers. The fabrics improved. It's not gulp core as you think of the cliche. It's more the advances in technology. My issue with that is you need a little waterproof for sure. Yeah, I mean, it's lightweight. It's functional. You've got pockets.

43But real gulp core, it's fucking sweaty when it's 25 degrees out. No, of course. but I mean you can still get mid layers and what have you still breathable packable blah blah blah but that's it if I saw somebody in full like that I've got like some trousers like trousers I was like I would actually like they'd just I'd open it at the bottom and the sweat would just pull out from the bottom hell yeah then from then excuse me what else was saying about I don't know you wrote this you wrote this thousand word essay I'd say wax jackets what barber vibes barber vibes or barber in bell staff yeah so anyone in that ilk wear a traditional barber jacket so I know barber are doing a thing with Oxfam and Glastonbury so they have two are they activations?

34not really activations they're just schemes so there's one which is like recycled your old wax jackets with us and there's another one where you can just rent a wax jacket for the festival which is a great idea so saying yeah like so what, Lex Chung? yeah, Lex Chung Gallagher's Kate Moss that kind of thing where it's you have a wax jacket they're built for rainy fields you and I got sent some barber jackets from still one of my most worn jackets I get people asking about it all the time but it was like a John Lewis exclusive so John Aisha was like how did you get this this isn't released oh really apparently so she was sitting for Alex's birthday she bought her that jacket and it's still like she said yeah did we pick it from the website yeah oh no we picked it from like a like a docket thing but yeah it was from John Lewis though wasn't it yeah which was really surprising they had these really cool exclusives yeah amazing there's a really cool collab coming out of Barbar in the next coming months I can't say it's NDA but it's really good yep I think another one I think we found out at the same time didn't we maybe maybe I'll ask you after then after that what was I saying British style of course best of British you kind of have everything your grandad would predict you should wear it at festival.

48Get your wellies on. Get a nice knit jumper. Get a raincoat. A classic raincoat. Something like that. I don't know. It's just, it's kind of going away from that. And then, what was it? The good one was no more band tees at festivals. Fuck off. It's a hill that I'll die on. If you're wearing a band tee from a band that is not playing, you look pretentious. If you're wearing a band tee that is playing, then you look like you write fan fiction. no mate like okay like for me that's so wrong because one you might buy the merch there if you buy the merch there you're wearing it if you buy the merch there fine also a lot of people choose to go to a festival for one particular band yeah and I think it's a signifier of like oh I'm a real fan look at me here yeah you're right fan fiction fan fiction what are some acceptable band tees to wear but if they're playing what would be a good neutral band tees well no if they're playing like there was people in like old old proper old LCD Sound T-shirts when I went there well do you know what maybe because I was like, oh my God, I love that graphic.

48I love that thing. Maybe on the day is acceptable then. But if you're wearing it on the second day and it's not a thingy. Yeah, I don't know about wearing like a band t-shirt that they're not playing. That's a bit of a rogue one, isn't it? But it's a bit of a weird one. Like, why are you? Yeah, because it's, I don't know. I'm not, you know, like name three Lindsay Lohan movies. I don't know. You don't, so you're a faker wearing that t-shirt then. Oh, I'm a fan of prison. Name three prisons.

17and three activities in prison what i mean oh my god what's wrong with you i don't know the correctional system in the uk isn't perfect but there's a lot of ways that it's really good and can get people back on track so i do you know i actually did my uni project um it was a magazine uh working with convicts to make this up magazine because the whole idea for me was like they come up they do like apprenticeships around say building classroom whatever all that stuff but I was like well to get into the creative industries you need a portfolio so there's really talented people it came from somebody who I know knows who was an illustrator or they wanted they could draw basically they were really great and I was like well imagine putting their stuff in a magazine and losing the stigma of them being imprisoned by just just showing their work so it was a magazine that was going to come out I think every six months and it would only be made by people who were in prison.

18Do people know that it's by prison? Yeah, that's the whole concept of the magazine. And they write it, they'll write it, there'll be an editor above everything to make sure it's all good. But everything in there, the ideas would all come from prisoners around the UK and at the end of their census, they'll have a bit of a portfolio of published work so they can then maybe go into the creative industries. But that was my final project at uni that I did. Well, before we leave, have you ever been to prison been to jail been to have I ever been to prison spent a night in cells no I know you have I have yeah you know this is going to ruin your career no longer brand safe but yeah Danny Dan Slaughter Dan Slaughter career Dan Slaughter that's what that's what this is with this fucking podcast how bad it is this is Dan Slaughter Dan Slaughter mind you when you write down Dan Slaughter it reads out as Dan's laughter I think we should leave on that man that's actually so perfect I'm obsessed by that Again we're going to apologise We can't keep apologising every week Just to clarify It was a misunderstanding It wasn't actually a felony I was able to travel to America Literally next month And they're very anal about it also And who wasn't able to travel to America?

28Me I'm over to go now You're a felon You're a bloody felon John Risen Again sorry for this Thanks for sticking with us We just want to make sure that you know we can soothe your brains with our really harsh regional accents we are like taking your brain out running under a cold tap yeah so we are back next week with Mikey Dow of Purple PR probably do another episode of me and Danny after that and then after that hopefully we will have well some guests lined up I don't know if I'm allowed to say it just say commit to names Eric oh sorry Eric sorry did I you'd see me before yeah before me yeah so we're gonna have Eric and potentially a little brand collab thing going on which is really cool which everyone will it's the type of like person people you want us to work with yeah big time so that'd be quite good to look forward to twins twins are definitely they've come back and said yes perfect and you need to DM Tom because I had a couple of messages about getting Tom on the podcast happy days and he's doing a tour or he's doing an album so he needs to do press there's more people we'll think of it and with that I think we should sign off I'm down yeah so these future episodes will have actual planning rather than just us two off the top I can't get over the Dan Slaughter and Dan's laughter thing if I'm on this review thank you very much on that note see you next week guys lots of love toodles
